"Want to have a chat with us. Hey, folks. I told you when Baker Mayfield was acquired by Sam darnold. When I came back from my July walkabout, that happened while I was on vacation. There's a reason why they did this. They saw Sam last year. They know Sam. They see him in the meeting rooms. They saw him all around. They saw him and off season workout. They saw him. They worked out with him in. OTAs. And I understand it was a very negligible amount of draft capital that they sent for baker. But they're bringing on a quarterback that they're paying about 8 million bucks of his salary. And once that happens, and you do that, you're not just going to bench him and say, you can have a quarterback competition, and then we're going to have that quarterback competition won by the guy who didn't get totally in his mind, screwed over by his franchise. Last year, they started Sam Donald against the jets, kind of worked out. That's what you want to use it for. Worked out first three weeks. Is it true it did? Baker Mayfield had taken on the browns. What are you going to do? Start Sam darnold. That's what I was saying. I mean, if he's better. But you got him for a reason. You know, you sense he's going to be better, and as long as he's not appreciably worse, you're going to start him. Today, they announced it's Baker Mayfield's gig. Week one against the browns. That's going to be great. As we all know, it's Jacoby Brissette getting the start for the browns because of everything that went on with deshaun Watson. I don't know, this just in case you're somehow new here. I don't think you are, but in case you are. I've kind of been very critical of deshaun Watson. And the browns. Quite a bit. They deserve it. But here's one to root for. In Cleveland. Guy was terrific this weekend. And again, I know it is pre season action. But he looked great. Slinging it, running it. And I'm rooting for him, and this is a guy to root for. For one, yes, but the backup is Josh Dobbs. God do I love this kid? In case you're unfamiliar, and if you are, you definitely didn't go to UT. He's a Tennessee quarterback, okay? And while he was at Tennessee, he majored in aerospace engineering. He was the 2017 torch bearer award winner that recognizes outstanding contributions in academics and in the community. Drafted in the fourth round by the Steelers in 2017 and he hardly got out there. As we know Big Ben was the guy, right? And then when they drafted mason Rudolph, in 2019, they sent him to Jacksonville. Pittsburgh did. After Nick Foles broke his clavicle. And then even though Nick Foles broke his clavicle, Josh Dobbs didn't see the field at all in Jacksonville as we know it was Gardner minshew, in place of who then got back in there. And didn't play a single game in Jacksonville. Only played in 5 games when he was in Pittsburgh. And then he was re signed by Pittsburgh in 2021 and then put on IR. So he hasn't seen the field in forever in a day. And while he was in Jacksonville though, he entered, had an internship at the Kennedy Space Center. Neck up, neck down the whole thing, good people. Josh Dobbs is good people, and I understand the browns have gotten hit hard. By many, including me for not focusing on good people at that position. Josh Dobbs is that, man, I'm rooting for him, and I know that might mean something befalls Jacoby Brissette. I'm not rooting against Jacoby Brissette. I think this is a great opportunity for him. I think Jacoby brissett if he wants to, if he can just go what 5 and 6, 6 and 5 in the 11 games, just keep things afloat. That's it. Yeah, keep it afloat. Because deshaun Watson is not going to forget how to play football. That's for sure. And then you'll find out exactly why the browns did what they did. In case you need a reminder, Josh jobs, man, won a route for I've met him, I just think the world of him and watching him, did you see him run away from the eagles defense yesterday? Nice. Ran one into. Did his best role Campbell impression? It was great. I mean, somebody was tearing a desert against Jersey, right? So it'll be versus Baker Mayfield. And one of the interesting aspects of this matchup too, Andrew Brant, as only he can, the old school Catholic of the Green Bay Packers tweeted this one out, and the opening game between Cleveland and Carolina, the browns are paying the starting quarterbacks and combined 15 million. They're starting Jacoby reset or they're paying four and a half million this year, and the Panthers Baker Mayfield to the browns are paying ten and a half million this year. So the Panthers quarterback is making more than twice the brown starting quarterback and the browns are paying them both. Twice as much. They may brown's quarterback just from what the browns are paying. Baker Mayfield alone, obviously there's going to be more on the table for him. An image will just see what baker does there, man. I think we're going to see a lot we've seen from baker since he's been in the league. That's going to be a lot of wild plays. The ball's going to fly out of his hand. He's probably going to get banged up a few times. He might even miss a couple games. There's going to be some dumb throws and some bad turnovers. Well, I'll tell you what. That's the Baker Mayfield experience. He's not only playing for his future, not just maybe in Carolina, but in other places, but I think his coaches too. I think Matt rules got an owner that is demanding, not like other owners or wallflowers, but I think McCaffrey has got to stay healthy and DJ Moore's got to continue being the DJ Moore that we have seen. Is it Robbie or rob? Is it I forget what were you calling them now? Anderson? Robbie with a lie or an IE or I think he changed the way we started, but we spelled it. I mean, we got to see more from him. And then that Carolina defense. To try and make some Hank, because nobody's talking about anybody else in that division. Nobody. In that division is expected to come out. To make the

"Just a little off topic, but the show is bonkers today, so why not, but hey, man, I'm going to England in two weeks and we're taking a ferry to Normandy beast for a day. And I was wondering, is there anything outside of the norm that you recommend? I know you mentioned the German soldiers grade before. So if there's anything else, I'd love to know and I promise if I see any sportscasters there, I won't say. Yeah, Jesse and Sacramento at 5 ten and a hard one 85. Love your work. All right, Jess, get to the cemetery where the American soldiers are buried. And get there before, I think it's 5 o'clock when they have taps. And when they bring down the flag, you'll be crying. I would go to the seminary cemetery where the Nazi soldiers are buried just to get sort of the opposite. Like you want to find out where they don't, they're not celebrating anybody in there. But it's a graves look different. I mean, it's a really, it's powerful. All of its powerful. But it just walking the beach in Normandy. "There will be no issues. Everyone will accept them. And rob, if you look about, look at it this way. Think about it like this. Cleveland basically rid off road off Baker Mayfield. Some of the browns teammates rode off Baker Mayfield. We saw Robbie Anderson right off baker meet for all those. Today he said it was taken out of context. Of course, he would say that right now, obviously he's going to want to see what Baker Mayfield is about. But there have been so many people here over the last year who have doubted question criticized Baker Mayfield. We've seen that at every walk of his life when he was leaving high school as he entered college when he was in college. People doubting him and he's usually responded to that type of treatment. Well, he goes to Carolina again, facing all those critics. All those naysayers, once again, and he steps in there, I think with a chip on his shoulder with a chance to show everybody he's a better quarterback than he showed last year when he played through injuries and as a chance again to lay claim to that starting quarterback job in Carolina to be the long-term solution that this franchise is looking for and essentially got on the cheap today. Certainly an opportunity for him to kind of have a resurgence of his career in this opportunity with Carolina. On the other side of things, Cleveland, what do they do now? Brown's owner Jimmy has released the following statement today saying quote, from the moment he was drafted, he gave us all for this organization and this city with his fierce competitive spirit. He excited the fan base and accomplished things that no player at his position had done in Cleveland for a very long time. So certainly some nice words there from the owner about Baker Mayfield as he now moves to Carolina. Jeremy, the other side of this is what happens now with the browns and assuming that deshaun Watson does end up with a suspension. They still have Jacoby Brissette there. So what does this offense look like now in Cleveland? I just taught us some people involved asked around today in light of this news and was told that the browns still look at Jacoby brissett who they sign this off season as a bridge quarterback. So he can play some games while deshaun Watson is presumably suspended. I'm told that they feel like, okay, if Watson's going to be suspended a very, very long time. We're talking a year or more, then maybe they would look around at their options, but they also know they can't really do much on the trade front because they gave up so much to get to Sean Watson. They don't have a lot of draft capital left. They're not going to go out and give two first round picks for like a Kirk Cousins or somebody who would be a solution there for a year or two. So right now, the plan loosely is to roll with Brissette, see where it goes, hope they get Watson back in short order. And Jeremy, they don't have a lot of draft capital. And they don't have a lot of room against the salary cap. So they're shorthanded on two fronts in Cleveland, but this is why the browns went out and signed Jacoby Brissette while they went out and signed Josh Dobbs, anticipating that there was a real chance that there was going to be discipline imposed upon deshaun Watson. So they've made those plans. And those plans are those two quarterbacks who are already there beset and Dobbs and they're hoping that Watson will be back sooner rather than later while waiting for a decision from the judge right now. "Discipline that is coming. And Baker Mayfield spoke today at his youth football camp in Oklahoma talking about a potential reconciliation with the Cleveland Browns. And I have the full quote here now, thanks to the outstanding God, I love the NFL network. Staff and the assignment desk in the news desk. Here's the full quote on maybe playing for, again, for the browns. I think it's pretty obvious the mutual decision on both sides is to move on. I'm thankful for my four years in Cleveland. There's a lot of ups and downs and a ton of learning experiences that I'll forever keep with me. Teammates and friends and relationships that I'll have for a long time. Just flew in last night from east Lansing, Michigan for drew Stanton. He was my mentor. The quarterback in Cleveland, when I got drafted, just relationships that like that that you're so thankful for this support staff in Cleveland, the people in Cleveland. It's a great sports town. I'm thankful for it. There's no resentment towards the city of Cleveland by any means. And that's when he was asked about reconciliation chances. I think for that to happen, they would have to be some reaching out, but we're ready to move on, I think, on both sides. That is the full scope of the conversation. Mayfield's not walking through that door, Cleveland Brown fans, any more. And if Watson gets suspended for a significant amount of time or a full year, don't call his number. And if I'm him, I am absolutely out. I want no part of this anymore. It is a now toxic relationship. I want no part of whatever, like, why would he bail the browns out from going and giving 46 million guaranteed dollars for just one single year to a guy that won't play a snap for them in that single year. And if that is actually the real case, if that actually happens, why would Mayfield on Planet Earth bail them out from that situation merely to what? Showy could still play. What if he gets hurt again? Then he shows he could still play hurt again, and then everybody wonders, is he any good again? It's a repeat of what happened last year. Why would he put himself out there like that? Force your way to another team that clearly will take you, make the browns eat more money. Make haslam spend and eat more money. You know what, if I'm him, I'd rather sit out and make my 18 full $1 million this year. And then come back with everybody wondering what he can do. You saw what drew biscuit just got on the free agent market? You just saw how sought after? Others were Marcus Mariota. Two number two overall draft picks who did not succeed with the teams that drafted them. Are now starters in this league. And a lot of folks assuming trubisky's the starter, I still think Pickett's got a shot, but I'm hearing that he's got a lot of third team snaps that he's taken this spring. Yeah, I wanted to bring that up today. I know. I've got my money, by the way. No, no, no, I mean, there's still time. Who knows what happens in training camp? You know what I'm saying? I haven't gotten paid yet. Oh, for Pickett, I got it. I think that's just still the gift that keeps on giving that he hasn't. But I may feel I would rather sit out the year and let people think what possibly Mayfield can do, looking at his full body of work as opposed to what we've just seen in the year in which he was playing through pain and a shoulder harness and probably coming back when he shouldn't have, I would rather do that than bail the browns out. And clearly, I don't think the browns, again, it's not like he's number two on the depth chart baker. I mean, they have Jacoby brissett. He is very solid. I know I hate using that word when it's in my direction. Serviceable is worth worse than solid. Serviceable is worse. Worse than song. Solid is above service. Because some people look at solid as good. I know that. So you know I take it as I take it as an offense. When people say, you know, that was a solid take by you. I'm like, no, actually, it was actually, it's a good take. So you think it's not good. Be better served sitting out here? I do. When we already have questions about how good he is now and now we're going to be like, all right, you sit out a whole year. Look at my resume from two years ago, I rest my case. I'm going to be off see you later. See ya. I'm not playing for you. I'm a plane for you. Want to bail in you out? You gave him all that money for one year and you gave him a deal where he only has one of his $46 million on the chopping block for lost wages due to a suspension. The 45 million of the 46 that browns have set up in their contract where it's not touched by suspension. Yeah, man, and I would sit there and just say, I'm waiting to see come get me Seattle. That's the place I'd want to go. Because Pete's not going anywhere, I'm wondering what's going on with Matt rule. Do I want any part of Sam darnold also? Sitting there? Then it suddenly you go to Carolina, I have a bad game and well, the coach is on the hot seat. I got to try darnold. Owner's not happy with me. I got to go move back to darnold. Well, now baker, you got another shot. Why would you want to be in a situation where there's musical chairs like that? Man, I want to go to Seattle. Go up to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Go play in that building. Fans will be going nuts if they get Baker Mayfield up there. That's where I want to go. I would tell my agent anything we could do. Let's go. What do we got to do? What can be done? That's my.

"And if it's not, again, the public relations, the public potential blowback of no punishment, how that's going to be meted out. The last part, Patrick, I would say, is it was interesting. I think it was at the first owner's meetings, right? Not these ones coming up. Obviously, he can't speak ahead of time. That would be a wormhole and all sorts of situations. But when Roger Goodell spoke at the owners meetings and said that they were going to speak to deshaun Watson when they felt they had enough information. So now that they're meeting and that was a couple of months ago, it appears then that they think they have enough information to meet with deshaun watts. It seems like the double edged sword of evaluating all of these different circumstances see if you mentioned Ezekiel Elliott, of course, deflategate the investigation into the commanders now. Evaluating these circumstance individually puts you in a position where you have an independent investigation. And so the ultimate question from people on the outside is if you're evaluating this individually with your own investigators with your own information, why is it contingent on things that happen outside of that? Why would you be concerned about the results of a civil lawsuit or the results of a legal investigation? If you're having an independent investigation and why that timeline has to be so different in that timeline, right? As put teams in positions where they don't know. You mentioned the browns not knowing. And it gets us to this point where Steve, are they? Do they have a plan to start with Jacoby Brissette or is there a Jacobi plan that has this kind of quantum superposition of whether or not Desean is going to actually play football and when that happens? Oh, I'm sure. I mean, that's why they went on got you go beset. And it didn't go with, you know, a younger quarterback. I mean, the Baker Mayfield is what it is. I mean, that's that ship of sealed. I mean, we could talk all right well, he could show up to camp. He could still play. Why? Why would he do that? But anyway, we'll get to that in just a minute. But yeah, I mean, that's why they went and got a pro like Jacoby brissett, who could come in 6 games 8 games. The team is good enough for Jacoby percent, you know, who can who can manage things to hold it, you know, to hold things down. So he can hand it off and give it to Nick Chubb and all these, and you see the schedule. Do they have any prime time games before like week 6? They have only two prime time games. Thursday night week three, Monday night week 8. Okay. Are there two prime time games? So yeah, I mean, that's a situation where the league is even kind of like, okay, we know that Sean Watson is one of the most electrifying players in the NFL, but to keep him off the prime time.

"Get to the bonanza. It's time for baby bankroll banana. All right, Murray, you are a beast in the bonanza. So after a tough week 5, I guess, doing the math. Nice bounce back win a week ago. You're an absolute machine here with all your plays. Does Mike Zimmer is Mike Zimmer trying to lose these games? I was watching the end of that Minnesota Carolina game. And he did the same thing he did the week before against Detroit, where he was up by he was up by 11, and he attempted a long field goal, which missed. And then it just allows the other team to get back in the game. We did the same thing as the Lions. They were by ten in that game and he attempted a long filled go up by 13. Which does nothing for you. And that one missed too. It's almost Minnesota should a beat Carolina easily in that game. They should have won that game easily, and somehow we end up in overtime, pretty exciting game to watch. They also want to have a punt they blocked for a touchdown, which I thought that was like a college football thing. That Mike Zimmer, I mean, he just the guy can't play with the lead. He can't coach with a lead. I won't be on the Vikings anytime soon. But enough of them. Yes. I mean, look, I have the eagles over 22 and a half for team total lands 22, but they do cover. So I got cute there frustrating and then after we did the pod, all these more browns, injuries surfaced and I knew I was doomed. They were never getting to that team total. But okay, Murray banked up often. You are in a really good position here. I have a feeling I might have to I might go heavy. Okay, so I'll let you first. You're on the T box first. Well, hold on. Today is October 21st. I mean, we're doing this thing all the way until the Super Bowl, right? I mean, you got to go heavy already? I like one play this week. I think they're gonna win the game outright. I Philadelphia plus the three is pretty much painted three everywhere. So easy, I'll say, give me eagles plus three for let's do 2000. I think Philadelphia wins this game. I think they've played a really hard schedule. I know they've played a really hard schedule. And I think they're going to go out there and get this win. Fair enough. So I'm going to do a dime on the Monday night or over 42 and a half is I don't see any more 42s. But you got some solid 42 and a half everywhere. So I'll do a dime on the over. Do you have another player? Is that just your one bullet? I like Indianapolis two. That's the other, that's the other game I was considering for our program here. But I'm just going to stick with the eagles right now. Just seeing everyone betting on the cold tells me a little scared and the colts, they still have so many guys hurt. You know, I see TY Hilton is now listed as questionable. Obviously, Quinton Nelson's out. Now, he's been on for a while. There's still a very banged up team, although I do think I do think that they're better than their record indicates and I again will say it's always fun to look back at the lines from previous weeks and think about how ridiculous it is that they were a dog against this Miami team. The quarterback. Jacoby brissett was the QB in that game too. I mean, that was just a ridiculous number. Ridiculous. Well, they just lost one of their safeties to tour is what Achilles and practice yesterday? Yeah, so I'm going to stay away from now on and I'll just stick with Philadelphia. But I was the other one yesterday when I was looking at the board preparing for my media rounds, I was looking at the colts as well. And then I'll go with the eagles. Julian blackman. It's really plain really well, young safety. So that's a bad news there. All right, I'll do it. I'll do it Murray. I'll do it for the people. We'll take a position on New England -7. Okay. I see at bed MGM. -7, even. I will do 2500 on New England -7. I got I'm still like haunted because I was in stations last man standing and I had New England plus four and a half. And I got knocked out of the last man standing on New England plus four and a half. So I can't back the Patriots right now. I got the wound is too fresh. That was bad beat for sure. Oh, that was so bad, but I wish you well with the Patriots. Well, I think we're gonna play it back. We're gonna try to set up a middle, get cute, have some fun with it. I know the people like it. It's better to do it on an island game because the public's really the Twitter interaction is just pristine. But okay, so let's do that and I'll play it back and try to set up a middle and get back into the race. A little bailout. I'll play it back if you can. You know, if you can. That's why I only did 2500, not like 5 K, right? Gotcha. I got you. Cool, man. Sounds good. All right, good stuff is always my friend. Best of luck to everyone listening and.

"I think from for him this year, Paul, I think if you look at Miami now we talk from time to time about how the bills did this whole thing. They didn't necessarily that it not necessarily. They didn't go. And get quote the franchise quarterback in the draft first and then build around him. When McDermott and Bean came in, they started adding pieces on the offense, and then eventually, you know they Hey, let's overhaul the offensive line. Hey, let's start working on some receivers, and then they got Josh Allen and they brought in more receivers and, of course, eventually pulled off the trade for Stefon Diggs and they drafted a couple of running backs and they drafted a tight end. So it was. Let's start it. Let's bring in the quarterback. Let's finish it, and here you have. You know what we believe is a close to if not finished product. When you say no vertical passing game, though. What does that remind you of Tyrod Taylor. Yeah. You know, a efficient That's not going to kill you with turnovers and doesn't have a vertical passing game. Yeah, and I don't know. Yeah, I know you're right, because there is always so much of a stress on not turn the ball over and everything. Um yeah, I guess I think I guess I wouldn't be surprised to tell you. That's probably what Miami decided as supposed to Fitz Fitz comes in the game and throwing the ball downfield with two. Uh my guess is it was very much We want to do some high percentage plays here. We want to build some confidence in the kid. We want to make them comfortable. He doesn't have to put we're not putting the game on his passing arm yet because he's not ready for it. And I understand that. But I think Paul for me. Two of this year is a big year for two a tongue of a lower because what did Miami do? Miami went out and said, We've got to get better weapons in our passing game, and they brought in. Will fuller and they had the draft pick. Uh, Jalen, I'm trying member who went where? Jalen wanting them. All right, so they brought in to really good weapons. To what was, you know, I wouldn't say it's a great receiving group. But they had other decent guy. Good guys there. I like Kasicky. I mean, I think he's a really talented tight end. They still might have some issues on the offensive line. They've They've made some tweaks upfront, but they realized, you know, I mean, Josh when Josh comes in as a rookie earlier than expected, I mean, let's face it. He could have been thrown into Brayton, you and me and would have been about as The same as the receivers he had that year. I think the dolphins this is a big year for two because there's no you can't look at and go. Well, you know what kind of weapons does he have? You know, New England went out and really upgraded their passing weapons. For whoever the heck they're quarterback is going to be the Jets over the last two years between the draft and the big free agent contract for Corey Davis. Have upgraded their weapons in the passing game. Miami's did that with two key pickups this offseason, So those pieces are in place for two a tongue of Ulloa If he doesn't You know, show progress this year. I'm not sure about like a Josh Allen. Year, three leap, But if he doesn't and the reports, by the way, the reports out of training camp are There is a vertical passing game. They're trusting him more They're you know, they're having them throw downfield. He's making throws and doing things that we didn't see from him last year, offensive coordinator start game plan That's I'm saying all away from this is a big year for him because they've They've gotten pieces that you would look at and go well. This is going to make tour a better quarterback because he's got more talent around him at the skill positions. Yeah, I just I'm not sold on him. You know, from from what I watched last year and It would have to be a very big leap. I'm not saying it can't be done. Buffalo people in Buffalo. No, it can be done. We've watched it very recently. So we we know it can be done. But I just I'm not sure he's the guy that can pull that off. But, uh You know we're going to find out in a couple of weeks, and I think there are a couple things in play here, Um, one their schedule if you look at Miami schedule We're going to. No, I think we're going to know pretty fast about whether to a can cut it because of their schedule, which I'll get to in a moment. The other thing is Paul. You always have because of what happened last season. Fit starts. Hey, Miami is in the race. You know they're doing okay. And fits is doing all right. All of a sudden, it's okay. We think to a tongue of aloe is ready. Let's go to him. And in a couple of games, he he starts But he doesn't finish and they pull them out of the game. Now Fitz has gone. Of course. Jacoby Brissett, is there back up? You know you in the back of your mind. Is he worried about that? Our dolphin fans thinking about that Dolphins fans, I think are expecting this team, if not to make the playoffs as a wild card, at least do what they did last year, right in contention, literally until The last game of the season, and I think there's pressure on him. What happens if he's struggling? Hey. Last year, the head coach pulled, um for the backup quarterback to spark the offense. What does he do this year? Look at their schedule Paul, especially the first two weeks they're playing the Patriots and the bills in their first two games. Okay, You want to show us what to has got in your two..

"Quarterback, tongue of Aloha, through not one, not two, not three, not even four, but five interceptions at practice for context one was tipped. Another one down staff of receiver ricocheted up in the air and bounced into a defender's hands. It was also heavily raining and backup quarterback. Jacoby Brissett a guy who started a lot of games in the NFL also threw two interceptions and I would assume I'm fewer reps so I'm not trying to make excuses for two. I'm just trying to share the context. It was raining hard to were not as fault, sounds like and the other quarterbacks struggled to. So I'm sure the rain had a huge impact on all of this as well. And the reaction to two are throwing five interceptions of practice, as you would imagine was predictable. It was the usual to assume jokes and it's awful and wow. Wow. Bad is that. And just a lot of people not believing into a and look, having five interceptions at practice. That's a bad at the office. Like, that's that's not good for anybody. That's not like, wow. Like you wanted to have your starting quarterback shred at practice for sure. but I would also argue that if you can't fail at practice, When can you fail and lose and learn lessons and grow? I mean if if practice isn't a safe place to make a mistake, that's a bad bulb like culture that you don't want to cultivate. I mean I I hate the thought of nitpicking a practice session because that's the process of improving. You make a mistake and you figure out what went wrong and you learn from it. I want to repeat this. Practice has to be a safe place where you are free to make a mistake, you know, you make mistakes, you learn otherwise. If you, if you are not in a place where they you're safe to make a mistake at all and practice in this extends, Way Beyond practice, it extends in your life. If you don't ever give yourself Grace or room to make a mistake, you handicap the learning process and I'm never going to take risks and you're going to live your life in a probably a pretty negative way. So I just thought that the reaction to that was kind of weird and immature like if he's going to do it at least he did it, a practice not a game and allow the kid to learn and he's a second-year quarterback in the rain and it's a great defense, two of them are kept. I mean, it's just I just I don't know, man, stop nitpicking, practice home. I I don't care what happens at practice to his learning and growing and let's allow that process to take place. Okay, let's shift gears final topic before. Ask Zack. On Sunday, we had the French Grand Prix. And oh my gosh, what is just a wonderful outstanding race and I'll be, I'll be honest, it's wage weird as much joy. As it brought me. I mean, it was just tents and fun and it came down to Tire strategy. As much as I enjoyed what happened on Sunday. I also don't have a lot to say I mean it was Max were stabbed and vs Lewis. Hamilton, Red Bull versus Mercedes tense racing wheel-to-wheel at the end off and Max and Red Bull decided to, you know, mid-race to made an adjustment on the Fly. They adopted a different strategy mid-race, where they decided to have a two-stop strategy. They took a pit stop during lap, 9:15 and then Max took another pit stop during lap 32..

But they're not going to look good in that first five weeks. Mm hmm. And then what happens? Well, they're not starting Jacoby percent You think? Maybe because Brian Flores knew the guy when he was in New England now, But that's why it's there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I hadn't thought about that connection could happen. He's I'll tell you right now. You got better arm. He's got a better arm. And he looks a lot more like Justin Herbert than two. It does big, tall kid with an arm and you move around a little bit. Jacoby Brissett. It's a phenomenal guy, and I'm not saying too is not After five weeks. They may be ready to say Listen, I love you, too, but you got to sit down time to pack it in. Thanks. Thanks for coming. That's no elite traits. No elite traits. Physically. No elite traits. I mean hell, Even Jalen, one of their first round pick, said he'd rather go with Mac Jones than Tua and Mac Jones doesn't have any elite traits, either. Think about that. Got elite size. Okay, and, uh New England might be a little bit better, but Cam Newton cannot play. I'm just going to state that for everyone he can't play. He's done, you know, had a great career. Former N F L M V P. I am shocked Cam Newton cannot play any shocked that he resigned with the Patriots. I am too, because that's like that's a That's an evaluation thing. And while Belichick and his crew are horrible at Evaluating college talent, horrible. They are good at evaluating talent on the pro level, and I don't know how you look at Cam Newton film and say, Bring that guy back for another year. What like and I get a lot of done by that. There's a lot of things we see that we, You know, we look at that a lot of things we can't see. Like what you know. He shows up early stays late. He works hard at it. He's a great guy in the locker room. The players love him. They rally to him that he cannot play when the ball is snapped. All that stuff don't matter. It don't matter if he showed up at five AM every day of the week because you can't hit. The guy cannot play the game. I mean, I'm watching those routes on air at mini camp. I mean, He can't hit a target. It's the guys 15 yards away. You cannot play anymore. It's sad. It's unfortunate Guy had a great career. But it's time to hop on a horse and ride into the sunset like every end of the Western movie, and I'm sure he's you know, his whole practice didn't look like it did on those few things we know, but my goodness. Philadelphia Eagles trade QB Carson Wentz to Indianapolis Colts for two draft picks

"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. The Rams amount is 22.2 million dollars off. Beat 19 days later by the Carson Wentz trade what is dead money? You may ask it's basically all the guaranteed money the Eagles still owe Carson Wentz after the trade. So even though Carson is no longer on their team. He still creates a thirty three point eight million dollar cap hit for next year. So over thirty-three million dollars off of the salary cap has taken up for Philadelphia. They cannot use that money for other players. It's weird. It's interesting. It's never that's again the most ever pretty interesting. I was surprised that you know, they still trade off a given that but in the trade the Colts got Carson Wentz so the cold they get their quarterback that the replacement Philip Rivers the replacement for Andrew Luck. I'm happy for the Colts man. They've they've Way to make it work. They lost in Turlock. They had to scramble the Mage Jacoby Brissett work for a year. They made Philip Rivers work for a year. Now. They've got what they believe is their franchise guide Carson Wentz good for them. The Eagles got a 2001 third-round pick for the upcoming NFL draft and a conditional 2022 second-round pick and here's what's really cool. The condition. Is that if Carson Wentz plays 75% off Kohls offensive snaps for next year if it stays healthy place the whole year or you know, it's good enough to be the starter all years and get benched. Then that draft pick goes from a second round pick in 2022 to a first-round picks. Oh, wow. I like about that. People are saying the Eagles got a horrible trade. They got fleeced. It's terrible. Oh my goodness. You gotta realize this is probably the best trade they could possibly find the Eagles traded away Carson Wentz a guy who has an injury history has been injured repeatedly over the years. He's coming off of a horrible season where he was so bad the dude got benched for Jalen hurts a rookie quarterback Club. So the fact that Philadelphia made a trade where they have an opportunity to get a first-round pick that's impressive to me. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. They still got home key who Carson Wentz has problems I think is way better than Mitchell trubisky. So debate that all you want. I don't know how you go. Like. Oh the Bears they got a great quarterback still trubisky. I like it. I think another thing people got realize is that I love the trade for Carson Wentz. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. They've got to get running game. They've got a great defense Carson Wentz is being put into a great situation. If he does not do well then there's no excuse. You can make he's got great great team around him good support good people. He's getting helped.

"The pro-style coach and Jimbo Fisher and a pro-style program and he's got the game experience that you that they like he's got does take care of the ball relatively well, and he does not have the physical traits that they can fall in love with the arm strength. Some Mobility is not Lamar Jackson, but he can move around just a little bit now like what you said this High football IQ that they were talking a lot about at the Senior Bowl is something that I did not see on tape either. I saw a guy that stared down a lot of reads. It would had a tough time getting through a full field progression. But at the same time every once you get this guy on the Whiteboard and he knows exactly what he's talking about and to me I actually think I thought that the Germans didn't pick was ridiculous at the time and I still think it's ridiculous. I would be much higher on Kellen Mond coming in here as that developmental type of project quarterback than I was on Jarrett Stidham when they drafted him, but it's it's the same idea. It's right. It's the same idea in, New Jersey. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing multiple times and expecting different results. And I know he's a different person I get that and he's a different quarterback and he said different experiences, but you know, that shouldn't be if they do that like wage if your goal is Ryan Fitzpatrick and then that's your guy. Like that's a problem. If you're doing that you better already have like a solid guy in place to play quarterback. I'm not pairing Kellen Mond with Cam Newton. You're just spinning your wheels at that point you had last year with Cam Newton Insurance didn't you wouldn't place to them? So you're just again, you're just spinning the wheels on that. I don't I don't see it. I'll let you answer this one. Cuz this one reason why I mentioned Kellan law and in fact, I I liked him as a mid-round guy for them is because they for better or worse. They put a ton of emphasis on gaming. So here's my question. Do you like him as a player or do you just like the odds they draft of different things like the odds a draft because he is we've mentioned this before you and I have mentioned how annoying it is that they like to take SEC quarterbacks that were not crazy about and this song Ready for both next next year go ahead and trade Lance is a guy that does not check their measurables boxes. He's a one-year starter in the FCS of all things not in fbs-level program it just if they drafted trained Lance and I love Trail and as a prospect and I'm I'm pointing out all these flaws, but I actually have created super high but if they drafted trade Lance it would be completely outside of their box completely. He is not at all the type of quarterback that they have ever invested a heavy pick in or heavy amount of money in or anything like that. He's not Jimmy Garoppolo. He's not even Jacoby Brissett. He's a completely different style a quarter of all of those guys. He is really the closest thing is maybe like cam but it cam is Cam, you know, it's it's really different type of conversation and I'm telling you I would love trade Lance. I think he's a great player but it is not the type of guy that they are going to go for in the first round a guy that only has one year of experience in a low-level football is just not the Patriots way. It's not the way that they do. About it in the draft at all..

"I can see I can see Bears again the Midwest he looked at the corn-fed boy exactly Washington absolutely. Don't do that to yourself a wife Kelly no care. If she has I don't see that either that's a stretch if it's not going to be the Midwest. I can see him in Carolina cuz he kind of looks like a Carolina boy to like a like that that part of the South and then the Rams now. Which makes me think that they're going to move on from goth I think and look this has no factual Sports basis attached to it up up up everything we say has factual backups. Well, it depends on what you mean by fax because I'm only I'm not going by statistics. I'm just like well, he looks corn-fed so he can go to the Bears the cold dead. What was the other one on there Carolina the Rams? Okay. So those are the three that I would see him going to only strictly based on the fact that it looks corn-fed. This has the Rams suck Sam's mean he doesn't look like he lives in California. He's not California does Jared Goff? Hello? Yeah, he does. He's got that he'll a tool face. That's he totally looks like he's from California again. I'm done. This is going to be like the greatest quarterback changing season that catching up the car that we've ever seen. I think that's because there's so done on a dining it. You heard it here first. I think I think it's going to be quite the jigsaw puzzle and Changing of the Guard situations with quarterbacks across the league. Amie just said in the entire history of the NFL. This is going to be the season to watch. She literally just yeah for yeah. I mean I'm telling you like the quarterback situation with birth. Which half the teams is up in the air. I mean cuz you have to think I think about it like who knows what's going to happen with Aaron Rodgers is Brady going to hang it up after this season. And if so, what happens there. What Sean Payton going to do if Breeze retires, which is 90% likely that he will nothing still be able to deliver still standing in his Jordans. Yeah, Philip Rivers Edge gone in Indianapolis and Jacoby Brissett has he's going to be a free agent. I mean, there's so many unknowns is Cam Newton going to stay in New England and be their starter. Probably not. I mean are the Rams going to move on for Jared Goff? Like what's going to happen with Garoppolo in San Francisco? I mean that's looking like that's not going to happen. Are you proud of me? Why because you're not like wage and what team is Jack Prescott going to go to cuz I knew that was on at the very end of my rant. Well, it's Dallas. So I'll save you the trouble. All right coming up next in Off song. Kids Major League Baseball says now we ain't doing a Hall of Fame this year boo, but you guys are lucky because the first intense is down their own MLB Hall of Shame and there are there are two very strong candidates, very strong candidates that we've got to tell you about that's coming up next. This podcast is sponsored by usual wines Amy..

"We'll get this up there for you all the different options for the Colts. Whether it's you know, maybe giving the ball to Jacoby's and if you if he showed enough in practice or You know, try to get a stopgap like Ryan Fitzpatrick and maybe drafting somebody like Trey Lancer the view him as a project and not yet ready or the Garoppolo. So the Matt Ryan's were the Stafford's, or, you know, maybe make a move with sand door of the Jets. Other required the showing Watson where they drag Zach Wilson were or or or or field from our house state and keep in mind. That is one thing that I didn't really harp on that. So I don't wanna be to Donald centric, cause I sometimes spend too much time on Samford Guy hasn't done much to even though I do think it could be good. That relationship is interesting because Frank Reich was with Joe Douglas in Philly s so you never know. So but so many things could happen. Yeah, it's a lot of things could happen. There's there's a ton of options for the Indianapolis Colts. Some of them are better than than than others on again. All the quarterbacks carefree Andy Dalton's gonna be free. Would he be interesting, especially after I mean, he stabilized a little bit. What was happening in Dallas won some games and looks. I mean, he was great in Cincinnati's those early years, him and A J green or where they were just amazing combination. And obviously, as he got older things kind of faulted a little bit, and you know, the coach turned over the roster turned over, but he was still pretty good last year, and he's not old per se s. Oh, there are options for this team, The Indianapolis Colts cause they feel really close. Right. And let's not make this about Philip Rivers, you know, leaving them out in a lurch. I know some people will say that, but they know what they were signing wars 25 exactly right. One year 25 mil. He mean he literally already accepted a job to be a high school football coach down in Alabama. Tuscaloosa, Alabama already accepted the job on they convinced him to come out. Give it one more shot. Philip Eyes it sure Okay, we'll see what happens. You know, I still feel good. But, you know, according to you know what you read internally over over there to an indie. He just he. He battled injuries all season long. He was banged up, beat up and And I just didn't want to deal with. You know the grind any longer And yes, he had a good season. Not wasn't elite, but he had a good season. The team is good around him. They get a great young runner and Jonathan Taylor. They just drafted from Wisconsin. And you mentioned before the depth at that position, the Hinds and Marlon Mack like they have talent. It's just Hitman's a good receiver. Yeah, exactly. But at the end of the day, you gotta really still love it. And you gotta love that grind that it's not about the mental number, the physical grind of your body going through this another year, and he said, Enough's enough and you tip his hat to him. It was only one year. But it was. It was a pretty good one year in India. You know, it's Yeah, I would agree with that and is last past came up. You know, a couple of yards short on that throw. That was a hell of a that was a very underrated playoff game. By the way that Titan's bills game like I know bills won't forget about this. I put the bills Colt I don't bills fans won't forget about this, but The idea that that was a game that was very easily you know, Bills could have been sent home very early and despondent where they would just be getting over it. Now. Forget about getting ready for the F C championship game. The tears will just be drying up now, like they were very a couple of calls. Couple of weird scenarios. I mean, final play. Final drive was wild out. That was that was a playoff game that because it was the first game was actually the literal first playoff game. Super wild card weekend. That was the first game on Saturday. It's kind of easy to gets a lump. There was some other stuff that went down if you're not a fan of of either of those teams specifically, but that was a quality game. Yeah, No, it definitely was that they had a chance, but they were just not quite good enough. Which is probably going to be the same next year. I don't know if I agree with that I'm talking about from a quarterback standpoint. I don't know if I agree with that, Stafford. Yes, Yes, I'm talking about if they leave everything, as is Right. Don't go make any of these moves, but I have to make him if they upgraded quarterback then then yeah, it is. It's a different scenario. You know they're making. I don't see East in their general manager has said, has even said that, you know, Jacob pieces just not ready yet. Yep. Was the fourth round pick fourth round pick and Um, you know, that's not the guy that's not the guy. I mean, the reason that there's a reason they went and got Philip Rivers. Um, even though Jacoby Brissett was intriguing, and it was a good stop gap for a year to have for two years, whatever he was there from from New England, But they need to go get a guy who can be that be that guy for the next few years because they're there in their window. Yeah. You talk about these windows to compete and win championships, the culture in their window right now, both creatively and defensively, a great which is why, and I know you didn't love the idea that I threw out my from that is not my plan. A but it Zoback up plan that Could give you nice little pop on the back. And if you're right, and provided you scouting reports are accurate. And you believe that Lance could be the player that some p I don't know anything. I mean, I've seen I've seen highlights. You know, I played one game this year didn't play particularly well, People rave about him. I'm not gonna waste America's time telling you if I think trade train lands, and I have no idea, But I do know the Ryan Fitzpatrick is quality and what I said the teak. You know, if you can't get a Stafford, which would be ideal. I don't. I think Matt Ryan staying with the Falcons. I don't think that that relationship ends yet. But if you can't get Stafford To me, the duo of Fitzpatrick and again t. He doesn't love it like me. I get it. But if it's Patrick, if you're right on Lance, what that would do. Is eventually you handed off to Lance. He's he's on year two with the place in here to off a rookie deal, and now he could start playing all the pain. All these other guys that you have to start paying. Cause they're gonna have to start paying some guys. Yeah, just extends the window. But yes, But I'm going to fall back on this philosophy that I am now going to talk about for forever until I'm proven wrong about this is your quarterback, a Hall of Fame quarterback or at least on the trajectory trajectory to be a Hall of Fame quarterback. If not, he's not winning your Super Bowl period unless you have an elite defense. Now this calls defense is good. There's some good young pieces. They're obviously we talked about various Leonard and forget their other linebackers name. He's just He's 54. I can't think his name atop my head, but he's also really good. Buckner, who they got in the trade from the 40 Niners. He's good, very good. I have a pretty good secondary roads is out there. They picked him up from the bikes. So there's there's there's there's depth defensively. But even with all that said, they were still kind of just like, you know, 10 ish. You know, they need to be elite if they're gonna win with it's subpar quarterback meeting a sub Hall of Fame quarterback so to me, I think if you're the Colts, and I'm Chris Ballard there, general manager I'm looking at this from a very specific decision. Making point in reference is this quarterback Hall of Fame trajectory or better on Def? Thea answer is no. Then I gotta go find that guy because that's how you win Super Bowls. And if you're Indian, you're this close and you're in your window. You take every shot, man. You got to do it. Because the cold, sir team that they they have they have They have.

Andrew Luck retires: Colts' personnel moves forward with Jacoby Brissett

"The Indianapolis Colts in thirteen days face the LA Chargers went out Andrew luck and with your cover percept the guy for whom they traded Labor Day weekend at twenty seventeen he started fifteen games that year after being thrust into the mix with no opportunity to learn the offense no opportunity to learn the personnel no opportunity to learn the coaches everything's on the fly for Jacoby per set it was for an eleven which obviously is not an ideal record but he played well under the circumstances and remember twenty seventeen GM Chris Ballard was still trying to dig out from the mess that Ryan Grigson had made from two thousand twelve for two thousand sixteen in Indianapolis so I think there's reason for optimism as they move forward with your cover per set they have resisted all options and opportunities to trade burset elsewhere and now they have him and now he's the guy now Chris Ballard the guy who has compiled this culture Austin made the playoffs last year made the final weight has to cover percent he understands that the office will be different without interlocutors Ballard from Saturday night we're not gonna ask you go we were said to be Angela Angela was a unique unique player but you go we were set is is a winning football player initially and he is an apple I think your would you what Andrew said Cody said is a rare rare leaders he is he's a rare human being man I know look in that moment Chris Ballard needs to say something to inspire confidence in the locker room and beyond that the colts will rebound from this but look at what they rebounded from just in the past couple of years Josh McDaniels fails on a verbal agreement to take over as coach of the team following fifth Super Bowl fifty two bad stunner on a Tuesday night and we had a hard the rumblings that you know what McDaniels may not take that job after all and they didn't and they were covered and they pivoted to Frankreich and Frank Reich has ended up being the guy who maybe should have been at the top of the list from the get go and right there was a thing or two about moving on from disappointment about changing circumstances and adjusting on the fly right was the quarterback of that game in buffalo the comeback for the ages when the Orleans wrote thirty five to three it wasn't Jim Kelly he was injured it was Frank right it was Frank Reich who was the offense of coordinator the Philadelphia Eagles in two thousand seventeen when Carson Wentz suffered a torn ACL in the middle of December the kind of injury that would derail a team's playoff run they pivoted to Nick Foles the cobble together an offense that would work in light of his skills and they won the freaking Super Bowl with Nick Foles that was the final active Frank breaks career in Philadelphia's offense of coordinator he's not going to panic he's not gonna give in he's not going to give up it was three years ago that teddy Bridgewater suffered a torn ACL at a no contact practice it's always no contact quarterbacks just a week or so before the start of the regular season and Mike Zimmer said nobody's gonna shut down the season nobody's gonna cry force we just have to go forward it was not long ago we heard Frankreich explaining that he learned from watching Tony Dungy how to stay even keel in that setting how to be the call in the middle of the storm and the importance of that message sends to the rest of people the organization now since how possible Frank break knew what was coming so already was working himself into that state of call so he could be the beacon of hope and stability for the franchise because he knows that they're going to go into the season without interlock but regardless between Ballard who has put together a top flight roster couple of all pros not just pro bowlers but all pros that were rookies last year and continuing to build continuing to finesse continuing to make that team better and yes it makes that team worse not having interlock but there's a quiet confidence between Ballard and right and also what we've seen from the cover set I'm not gonna write the colts off at look people will write them off they will have no expectations the fall off the radar screen and and and now well one hand the division to the Jaguars with the Jaguars in the Texans act the colts I think we'll still be
