I'm on a bunch of pop culture podcasts this week. Did a rewatchables on Monday night. We did Black Hat. Also was on the Big Picture. We did a big Denzel Washington movie draft. I got way too competitive. And then on Wednesday night, Amanda Dobbins and I on the Prestige TV Podcast, we broke down the first two episodes of season three of The Morning Show. The most ridiculous show on television, not just this year, but every year it's on. It just wins the title automatically. If they had a ridiculous show category at the Emmys, they wouldn't even have any of their nominees. I mean, maybe winning time would get nominated. I don't know. But Morning Show just clears it out. What a batshit, crazy, ridiculous show. Wow. It's really like they created a podcast thing so we could just break down the morning show. That's really, I think, the real reason behind podcasting in general. Coming up on this podcast, Million Dollar Picks and a little Vikes Eagles at the top. And then editor at large at the Ringer, Brian Curtis, who was also a giant Cowboys fan, comes on and talk about the Cowboys. Could this be the year? Keep saying that, but could this be the year? And we talked some NFL stuff. We talked some sports media stuff. We talked about documentaries and just all the stuff that happens when Brian Curtis comes on. Oh, we talked about Joe Buck and Troy Aikman as well, who have hit a really interesting milestone as a combo. So that happened. And then Kevin Hench, my buddy, the Red Sox fired their GM today, and we couldn't resist spending 20 minutes recapping. One of the four -year oddest, strangest four -year runs the Red Sox have ever had. And we're still in the middle of it. And I still don't understand why Mookie Betts isn't on the team but also like, man, since the 2018 World Series, the Red Sox have just been a hot dumpster fire. And I say that knowing that they almost made the World Series two years ago, but when you look at everything that happened, wow. So Hench comes on and talk about that. It is all next. First, our friends from Pearl Jam. ["Pearl Jam Theme Song"] All right, I'm taping this part of the podcast. It is 11 .31 East Coast time. East Coast Bill is here. East Coast Bill is in Boston. I was visiting my daughter and doing some other stuff. And Thursday Night Football came on and I thought it would be a great idea to do the top segment after Eagles Vikings. East Coast Bill fell asleep at halftime. It was a new record for me. I guess I'm old. I have another birthday coming up this week. This is why I live on the West Coast because I talk about sports for a living. And East Coast Bill gets a little sleepy when the game is kind of boring and plodding along. So East Coast Bill missed some time, had to catch up, had to do a little rewind. Fortunately, there's so many commercials. I was able to still watch anything, but the Eagles beat the Vikings. They're now 2 -0 on the season. And I would say it's an uninspiring 2 -0. They probably shouldn't have covered against the Pats. They could have lost. This game they win, they don't cover. I guess on the good side, the DeAndre Swift, they traded like a 15th round pick in 2038 for them. And this little way they put together their offense where they load up on wide receivers, they hit the jackpot with hurts, and then they just say, you know what we're going to do? Just grab running backs because there's 98 of them every year. We're just going to grab two and pay nothing for them. So offensively, they look great. Defensively, you saw it last week with the Pats. The Pats were able to throw it on them. Mack almost had 300 yards in the last three quarters of that game. This game, Kirk Cousins, over and over again, heroically going for the cover, finally gets it. The Vikings cover, they don't win. Home team's now 5 -12 against the spread this season. Underdogs are 10 -7 against the spread. But for the most part, not allowed to report, the Eagles just state. They messed around in the first quarter and then said, screw it, and ran the ball down Minnesota's throat. I was thinking, Eagles, Cowboys, if you were going to make a combined over or under for wins for them, and I gave you 26, would you go over or under 26 wins combined for the two teams? They're 3 -0 right now. I would probably go over, especially when you look at the NFC and you think Philly, Dallas, San Francisco, lock those three down. I like Green Bay, Detroit, maybe New Orleans, Atlanta, and maybe that's the seven for the playoffs. And then you have Tampa Bay and the Rams. Who knows what was real and what wasn't real. Tampa Bay beat Minnesota by three in week one. We're like, oh, Tampa Bay, that's interesting. But now Minnesota's 0 -2, maybe that doesn't even matter. Rams, who knows? I mean, they just have so few good players that the moment two of them get hurt, it feels like their free fall will happen. So the NFC is already kind of uninteresting, I guess is my bigger point. Unless the Giants can rally, and who knows after the 40 -0 debacle last week, they're playing Arizona this week, so they looked out of that. But for the most part, it seems like three good teams, maybe the Packers, maybe the Lions, maybe the Saints, and then we're going to have a really bad seven seed. So if you're Minnesota, and you're looking at 31 of 270 teams started 0 -2 and made the playoffs since 1990. 31 out of 270. I can't do math, but that's not good. If you're Minnesota, at what point do you consider trading Cousins? Cousins was all over the place on the internet this week as a possible Rogers replacement. He makes 35 million this year, that's it. The Jets, I think, could do some chicanery if they wanted to. They have this thing where the Packers, it's a conditional, I think second, that turns into a first, but the Packers would have to waive the right for the condition. Clearly, Rogers is going to play 70 % of the plays, but still, they'd have to figure out some way. But if you're the Jets, could you somehow trade for Cousins and save your season? We're going to find out a lot about the Jets this week against Dallas. They get annihilated and they're one -on -one for the season, but annihilates Dallas them and they have to look at their offense and go, all right, we have a really good team. What are we going to do? Is it Jacoby Brissett or do we swing big and try to get Cousins for a year? Cousins has over 700 yards and six TDs in the first two weeks. He's been a fantasy god. I don't know how that plays out. I wish it was like basketball where I could just put stuff in the trade machine and see if it's going to work. For some reason, we made football trades more complicated than basically anything on the earth. I have no idea how the Jets would trade for Cousins, how it'd work, what the mechanics of it would be. What's he worth? Is he worth a first rounder for one year? Is he worth a third rounder? You just never know. Again, DeAndre Swift went for a 15th rounder in 2038. Cousins, I have my eye on because if you're Minnesota, you're not good. You were completely lucky last year to go 13 and four, whatever it was. Now that's evened out and maybe you start looking around and going, all right, let's pack in this year. I don't know what would have to happen, what number they would have to get to. Would they have to be one and four, one and five, one and six? But Cousins to the Jets, it's a fun talk radio topic, at least. We're not doing talk radio here. We're doing sleepy sports podcasting, but Cousins to the Jets has always felt right. It's always felt kind of perfect. He always just felt like a Jet waited to happen at some point in his career. The Jets fans listening to this right now are like, how can he keep doing this to us? We just had the Rogers thing. We had Zach Wilson. Now you're gonna throw Cousins at us. But again, Cousins, a little bit of a turnaround. He was in that Netflix show. He's kind of the big winner of quarterbacks with Mariota being the big loser. But I feel like the tide's turning on Cousins. Even Primetime Kirk today, always a disaster, gets the cover. Who knows? Put him in New York. We'll see. Philly's got, they're just basically have to figure out what their team is. They've already had a bunch of injuries and they even had a little AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts. Who knows what happened on the sidelines there, but didn't look awesome. But they have two months here to figure out their team. They're a big stretch. Week nine, Sunday, Dallas, that's home in Philly. Bi -week, week 11 at Kansas City on a Monday night. Week 12, Buffalo home. Week 13, San Francisco home. And week 14 at Dallas. So again, Dallas at KC, Buffalo, San Francisco at Dallas. And that's gonna be the five game stretch that determines are we a one seed? Are we a two seed? What is our season gonna look like? And they just have to get there. They have to stay healthy and they have to get to that point. So not a lot of lessons from Philly, Minnesota. Do I regret staying up? Although I guess I didn't stay up because I got this little nap in at halftime.

"Love this. I'm buying the crust stock. The professional league is going to be very happy to hear that. There is, they're like a touring professional league. Some of it gets on ESPN. Wait, but you know what I liked about this was each team only had, you know, every team, there's like a hierarchy, especially in high school. We had a couple kids that just went like, you know, they broke up a play, and they just went full field, dodged a couple dudes, took two hits, and then scored it. It was like coast to coast. It was fucking amazing. Does that happen when we get to the pros? I gotta get more focused on this. I might add a league, guys. One more place. They were like run plays in the process. It's a little more organized than like high school. We're driving home and Ben's like, I really like lacrosse. So I'm like, this is great. This is I didn't, you know, my daughter's going to college. I didn't turn the spring. I'll have no club games to go to. I really felt like I had a void. But I have to start doing more stuff with my wife. Thank God. Now I have more games to go to. This is great. I'm in. Lacrosse. Thank you. Thank you very much. Congratulations. Spectacular. Thank you. Ben Simmons who wants to play sports. Do you have a parent program before we go? I'm glad you gave me a minute to think on it. So my kid was a public school kid up until through COVID and then the school that he was at only went through 5th grade. So we started him 6th grade at a new school whole new set of friends, but he has managed to remain pals with his public school buddies, our neighborhood, buddies, primarily by way of the Internet, primarily by way of connecting on the Discord, and they talk, and they strategize, and they make all these schemes and they play this Roblox, but once I would say every couple of weeks, he figures out a way for them to be in each other's company and yesterday was one of those days. These are 12 year old boys. Some of whom talk like their 12 going on 19 or 20. I mean, I'm worried about what direction my kids had with the Internet. But I will say there was a very charming milestone moment yesterday, all the boys had a great time with it. My kid out of nowhere dropped the unexpected moon. He pulled his pants down right in his buddy's face. And if brought the whole house down, the kid who didn't catch the first ass demanded that my kid come around and do it to him as well. It was a double moon to 12 year old boys, but my kid with his ass out, shining the bright light. It gave me some real hope. This is what kids are supposed to. This is what we do. It's what we did to each other. You can't just puke once, you have to puke twice in the second time you puke, you have to try to puke on Bill Simmons. Yes. So how's your worried? You worried as we entered whatever fucking weird time we're in right now. That even moons would be out the window. Well, and thinking about how little time they spend in each other's company, right? The kids, you know, it's hard for the buddies to get together. They're not going down to the park and playing football every day or shooting hoops every day. They're getting online and play the Roblox. Yeah, face to face. They still a place for the moon. That is one of my parenting tips for everyone out there. But face to face, let your kid hang out. Puked a puke, Dave Jacoby. It was wonderful to see you. Thanks for coming down our little Sunday podcast. Joe house, a pleasure, as always. I thought it would be drunk house, but it felt like it was I'm saving that. Semi sober Sunday house. We'll see you for the worst contracts pad.

"Behind it. By a great land colleague, Dave Jacoby is here as well. You know, it came and went. I was waiting for a ten year old history and Vanity Fair, New York magazine, Jacoby, just nothing. It just came and went. Well, this anniversary is meaningful to me because there was a house eats episode that we filmed and never aired that was the real House seats three. Vegas house eats that we just bailed on, but how season three is not just the peak of my career, but I also think it's just the peak of artistic achievement by digital content creators. Ahead of its time. That's how I feel as well. And the other thing with House seats three it was the height of just us being able to do stuff and just charge at the ESPN without them really wondering what was going on. We read it out a restaurant. We had judges, like a whole thing, just for a YouTube clip. Like thousands of dollars of food, house is thrown up everywhere. We have to have extra for the cleanup. That's why you went inside the restaurant south threw up. He changed colors. He tried to throw up on you by sticking a finger down his throat. It's really the proudest piece of art I've ever been a part of. It's somewhere on the Internet house. There's a link, right? It's on Vimeo. There's a link. I can send it around. I get pirate requests once or twice a year. I make sure that I have a lot of requests. It was really nice of you to invite me on and pretend that we were going to talk about the NBA when really was going to spend the next 90 minutes doing it behind the scenes of House seats three. Sorry, I'm at a 120 minutes, my bad. That's a special 8 part podcast. Let's talk NBA. We have a big project at the second part of this. We're going to do the most improbable 2000 23 NBA stories. But we got to start the Lakers win in the warriors win. These are the two teams that you could see them making the western finals or you could see them missing the playoffs completely. It looked like it looked like at one point here the words we're going to lose. They're down like 9 Minnesota falls apart, Golden State wins at home. House, if you had to pick a team to ride for the next two to four months from an upside standpoint, would you go Lakers or where'd you go warriors? Kurt's coming back soon. I am officially on board with the Los Angeles Lakers. Oh, it's happening. I'm here. Thrown down and unannounced. I believe that the version of the Lakers that we saw today, they are flexible. They can bully you. They are big. They can go small. I think they put on a clinic against that Dallas team, and that Dallas team, who I thought on paper as we exited the all star break, might have a sneaky approach a way of coming together that put them in contention there out. I'm done. I'm out. They are lost. That is a lost basketball team. They can't play with size. But I was so impressed by the Lakers and Deangelo russells played all of about 7 and a half minutes for them. The poor guy got a bum ankle. It's Jared Vanderbilt. I mean, they stole Jared Vanderbilt. They did. The trade deadline. And that transforms that team. His role on that team, it's a perfect compliment. Malik Beasley just standing out there catching wide open threes and knocking them down. I really think that this Lakers team obviously it all comes down to health with them, but you know, they have load bandage successfully up to this point. This is like the first monologue from House between those two. Steven a, just going for three minutes. This was impressive with the little graphic underneath. The Lakers are contenders. They can quote something like that. Jacoby, are you in on the Lakers? No, no, I'm not in on the Lakers. Absolutely not. I thought that the headline was like, they reunited with D'angelo Russell. Guess what? Jared Vanderbilt is the headline of this trade. You saw what he did today. The difference that he makes what he does for Anthony Davis, you know, that play with Dennis Schroeder takes it by himself at the end of the game with Andy Davis trying to post up misses you'll never believe this missed the left handed layup. Vanderbilt just pushing people out of the way swinging his arms around, batting balls, getting rebounds. Vanderbilt, you know, if you weren't paying close attention, he's very effective when he was in Minnesota. And I think it's exactly what this Lakers team needs. And you know, Russell gets healthy. That'll be great. But this team is not, I don't think they're going to make the playoffs. They're going to make the play in. Maybe with the playoffs and then you see them going up against the grizzlies or the nuggets, they might win a game, but House you would rather be them than the reigning champion warriors were about to return Steph Curry. I want to make sure I heard that correctly. I think the warriors are snake bit. I think every time that they've had a chance to string something together, they just, you know, it's half a step forward and two steps back. We will find out the results of draymond green's MRI with this podcast is up overnight, you know, tonight into tomorrow. And that will determine the fate of this team, but this is the version of the defending champs that we've gotten.

Stephen A. Smith: The Epitome of the American Dream
"I wouldn't say it's all been a dream what I would tell you is that I believe where I am today I am the epitome of the American Dream What I mean by that is that what I've said on many occasions in the past mark when I've been on TV is that when you look at superstars the Lebrons Jacoby's got arrested so Michael Jordan's shack and Derek G and all of these stars They're not the American Dream They're American fantasies Becoming reality Omni American Dream because I didn't have those gifts I wasn't that spectacular I just put my head down and worked my tail off scratched and clawed and worked my way into being in the position that I'm in the day where I live a relatively simple life I've been blessed and fortunate enough to be able to provide for my family to have a beautiful home to have loved ones in an inner circle to be gainfully employed to me that's the American Dream I think that one of the things that we look at in this world today is that some of the reasons why we have so much salacious nonsense so much stupidity and along with various other words that you could come up with a hell of a lot better than me is that you have people chasing the fantasy and willing to exhaust every means and every measure to get it as opposed to being able to be willing rather to put in the work You look at reality television Hey let's make it happen Let me do this show or whatever They paid the some guy from Jersey Shore or whatever the situation He once got paid $500 $5 million I'm sorry And my nephew you know God bless them with would come to me and with a proposal So he could sit up there and make $5 million too And I was like what happened to getting education What happened to put your head down to putting in the work and not trying to look for a quick fix That's why I consider myself the American Dream

"Loves playing curry. So I really do think the Celtics are going to beat the words. If you look at their closing 5, if you've got a healthy time lord of time lord Horford, Jason Jalen smart, like there's just no one to pick on defensively. That's what you want. There's just no one there. When you have curry, you can pick him a little bit, and pick up a little bit. But you can not do that with the Celtics closing 5, which is one of the things that I would go to bed at night on the kitchen floor thinking about if I was a selfish man. What's interesting is they beat Miami, especially in game 7 with the role guys. Like grant Williams, Pritchard came up big that game. Time lord has been, you know, he's been up and down just because of the injuries, but the supporting guys have been so huge. And in that end of that, Miami series, they just weren't getting that stuff from the supporting guys. I don't think they can beat the warriors. Great Williams has to do what he did to the Milwaukee series. They're going to need help. It's going to happen. Yeah. Go get a game. And you know, the butler was just such a bad matchup for them in three of those games. I saw some people were like, butler should have been the MVP in that series. He sucked for three straight games. And they lost. That's a ludicrous argument. As honestly, it's ludicrous. But Golden State does not have anybody like butler, which is the type of guy who gives Boston problems. I think they match up pretty well with curry. Anyway, I'm optimistic, but we'll see. We can hear you and watch you on first things first. Jacoby, the jaylin and Kobe show and food news. On the ringer podcast network, great to see you guys as.

"Kevin wild's author of half baked ideas. He's going to throw a few at Jacoby now. Okay. So Bill, I'm going to, I'm going to, you said you didn't want to talk about this and I don't care. I'm going to talk about it anyways. It's a direct disobedience on your podcast, but I don't care. It could be accusing me of being biased against LeBron, which I thought was really unfair and kind of hurtful. It is a tweet. It was meant to be on its own fair. I don't hurtful to see that. Of you saying, let's never talk about the dunk contest again. I am going to talk about it, and I think I have a moderately simple fix. So first of all, Jacoby and I, we talked about the dunk contest a lot. First of all, everyone needs to lower their expectations of the dump contest. What people want to see in the dunk contest or something they've never seen before live and I want to see immense creativity in about two seconds while you're flying through the air. It would be an added caveat of you're not really allowed to practice. In fact, if it got out that obi toppin was practicing his dunk contest, he'd be ripped for it. So everyone just take the expectations from here and bring them way down, okay? So here's the answer. Dunking with the stars. Dunking with the stars. It's not just one dunk. It is about a 92nd routine set to music where you are paired with somebody, mostly behind the scenes to help you choreograph your dongs, work on the music, work on the whole production. Come up with a theme and execute a full routine. I have some routines here. Oh, automotive theme, like Blake Griffin. You dunk over akia. Maybe you'd come out in a car and then maybe you don't go over the pistons coach. Like, oh, look at that. Automotive team. Oh, superhero themed. Put on a cape. And then you know that robot that shoots free throws that no one likes, or those Boston dynamic dogs, maybe a jump over that thing like, ah, you know, humans over robots. We win. It's thematic. And so you're judging an entire routine, just like gymnastics routines, a floor routine and gymnastics, or figure skating. Instead of some set of one dunk having a theme, it has to be a 92nd series of dunks with one overall theme. Yes, that would work, that would work. That's the idea. I just like the idea of being obi toppin. Obi toppin, this is Lin Manuel. He'll be choreographing your dumb costume. It's gonna be a historical remake of the battle of 1912. Here's the thing. Obi toppin's dunks on Instagram are good dunks. There's three cool dunks. It's just the process of getting there was a little bit arduous. But in the Instagram dunk world of obi toppin, those were actually good dogs. So get rid of the dunk contest, get rid of the one off dunk contest, replace it with a routine, and then the dunk contest will be saved. I like it. I go back to the first one in 1976. Which if you watched it, it had like a real flow to it because they let each guy they did like what four dunks and like a minute and a half something like that that they had in their heads. And it just kind of flowed a certain way, but they never tried dunks that were like too impossible. I think that's where the dunk contest has gone sideways. Once we allowed people to just keep trying these crazy dunks until they got it, I don't know about you guys, but I just don't think it's fun to see somebody land the dunk on the 7th try. As a viewer, it sucks. I don't care if you finally dated. I just watched you miss it 6 times or I don't like it. Here's where Kevin got me. I don't like this idea, but I like this aspect of it. It's like figure skating. No one watch the Olympics this year, like it barely happened, but the in the old days when we cared about figure skating was like, you knew there was going to be like three triple jumps. There's always some elements in between. They're a little bit easier. So it's kind of like, oh, this is where he does a regular dog, but I know there's gonna be like three tough ones. So like, you know, like when they spin around in circles, they never mess that up, right? But when they do a little like swan thing, they never mess that up. But you know there's gonna be three triple jumps, and this last one can be really hard, and we all know it's coming. So to have that sort of build the momentum thing, they'll be like 12 dunks, but we know there's gonna be three big ones in the routine, and it's all scored by the Boston orchestra, and then Manuel about the lyrics. Yeah, well, at the end, no one's like, oh, that stung. I didn't see any something I had never seen in my entire life after watching all of the dunk contest and every dunker on YouTube. I want to see something brand new and fresh from every single person. It's the expectations are too high. The routine brings them down normal and adds it opens up the aperture for creativity. Can I give you like it's like a one fourth baked idea? 'cause I did things like I said. What if they just got rid of the dunk contest for one year and they had a layup contest? You know what? I love this. He brought layups back. There's a lot of ways to be creative scoring a basketball without touching the room. I wonder, like, to me, is it a cross between horse and a layup contest where you have to do a layup? You can't touch the rim, but you have to figure out like crazy spins or whatever, and then the other person then has to match it. And it's like basically, you're playing pig or something like that. My whole thing, and this is they tried the horse thing and they couldn't get it to work. But then if you watch like super 70 sports on Twitter, they'll run like old Pete maravich. Oh, it's not live. Right. But I'm saying that the Pete maravich one, the way they did the horse back then, it actually kind of worked. It had a flow to it. And there's something there with guys trying to match shots against other guys because that's the goal for me. And I haven't seen this since the mid 2000s. The goal is to get the best, most famous people in the events. And you have this done contest, you had all the people were not famous..

And then eventually, while just writing stuff for grantland, Jacoby was running audio and video for us since day one of grantland, the entire time he was our Tsar and then all these years later, you guys are now on television shows. Jacoby's on Jalen and Jacoby has been for years. While it's on first things first, on FS1 and you guys became Talking Heads. He went from behind the camera to talking ads. So what we're going to do is we're going to talk because you guys are now Talking Heads. I thought we were talking about talking head stuff. Great. I want to play a game called do we care? I'm going to start with LeBron James. Who hijacked all star weekend because the Lakers are 27 and 31. Hijacking. Hi, Jackie. Went back to Cleveland. The hometown thing should have been enough, but now we got a lot of Laker stuff. What's going on? Are they going to help them? He's disappointed. They didn't get him more assets. I just want to point out that LeBron got them to basically trade every asset they have for Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. They had no assets left. We're talking about a 2027 first round pick. So for him to be mad about that seems super hypocritical to be more importantly, he's talking about going back to Cleveland, potentially who knows what'll happen. Wow, it's do we care? Do we care if 40 year old LeBron goes back to Cleveland? Yes. I care about everything LeBron. And you said he hijacked all Star Wars. He did. It was a hijacking. No, no. I thought the gravitational pull of LeBron has never been stronger. And you just scratched the surface. So I wrote them down. He talked about playing with bronnie, which was also just like, I'm not retiring a Laker. So he checked that one off. He broke back his old, by the way, I'm better than Michael Jordan once I came back from three one. He broke that one out. Maybe I'll go back to Cleveland. I was all for that, even though we actually already did it. He's like, well, it's a storybook ending, but maybe I'll do it again. That worked. And then he hit the game winning shot. Yes. And broke out the satchel. You're acting like wearing like a liquor statue is not major news, broke out the satchel. So yes, for me, we did the whole show on Monday just about LeBron and we didn't even really get into the palinka stuff and I was complimenting all the GMs. I care in a major way. And I want to take this opportunity Jacoby to thank LeBron James for providing us with endless content and he could have just done one or two things in the satchel. He did 6 things for content for first things first and I tip my cap to him. Well, don't forget, don't forget this. Wow, it's one key point. Just earlier in the week, the class Wednesday was rich Paul, not LeBron, who said, oh, by the way, LeBron's journey has been much tougher than Michael Jordan's. That was underreported. I love that so much. And I want someone who rides for me the way rich Paul rides from the broad. That is another favorite of mine. But I do want to say before I dive into the weekend, the bill, is it possible that as a diehard Celtics fan who had playoff series against LeBron? Early in his career, is it possible? This is just a question. Is it possible that may be consciously or unconsciously your maybe a little bit biased against LeBron James? I'm not saying you are. I'm just asking you to look in the mirror and ask if you are. Great question. I've written a lot of really good stuff over the years about LeBron. Here's where I stand with the LeBron thing. The Lakers are 27 and 31. And I just think they were better stories than us talking about LeBron again all weekend. And I do think that they head into these weekends thinking like, what's our plan? What do we want to accomplish? How do we get the most attention this weekend? And they did it. It worked out perfectly. He dropped the brawny card. By the way, great. Brian is the fourth best player on Sierra canyon. I do think he has a chance to be in the NBA, but I don't think it's going to be after his freshman year. I think that would be, he'd really have to make a jump, I think, as a prospect. So, you know, every year that he has to stay in college to improve his chances to be in the NBA, LeBron is going to be a year older. So just like, I don't think it's a slam dunk, they play together personally. But I do think he looked at the weekend as, how do I bring the attention back to me because my team is four games under 500. And we're going to need to play in tournament. And we might not even make the actual playoffs. So how do I grab this weekend by the balls, which is what he did. Yeah, you know what was the best part of it, Bill? Chris Paul, out for 8 weeks because he's hurt. He's like, by the way, I'm going to get a few minutes in the All-Star Game. We didn't even talk about it. He's.

We treat it like a summer job. Remember we dental high school students. That a lot of them need to work to support themselves and no support their families. New England Patriots Cut Cam Newton; Mac Jones to Start
"Speaking with our breaking news at foxborough. The patriots are releasing cam newton. And we'll move forward with as their quarterback pro football focus posted this week that the alabama rookie has the best preseason rookie passing rate since two thousand thirteen and now look to do with him. Couldn't do last year. Get new england back to the playoffs. Oh shannon what will be the patriots record with mac as a start of the season trying to look as you mentioned. I've tried to schedule and looking at it I say this is gonna make the playoffs. And so i believe it's gonna take ten wins for them to make the playoffs. So i'm gonna go ten ten and seven at the bare minimum possibly lebanon states. But i'll be conservative. I'll say ten and seven I think mayfield play well. I know they're not going to rely olmec as much as maybe some of the other quarterbacks but they're going to run the football i believe they're going to be a top five running team and everything they do is going to be predded gonna be set up the running game so they're gonna be heavy play action. They went to the to tidy. As they went and got a hindrance free agency got john newsouth upgraded the wide receiver position. I think decide nelson born. Yeah so they got some weapons. I man i still like jacoby. Myers i like here tomorrow. Watching the better he gets. I really liked jacoby. Myers in so with that being said skipped. I'm gonna say they go tunas seven and they make the playoffs.

Look good jalen. Rose what you think about cams performance. I i think if you really you didn't lead a game saying fly. Eagles fly by nothing you saw in that game. I'm happy for cam newton. We talked about the patriots improving their roster this off season we wondered how he will look as a passer. I talked about them primarily being a rush t. They look like a balanced team now again. It's the preseason never overreacted at as alliance fan. I learned first hand. Because i saw rt go undefeated in the preseason go winless that same season. So i'm not going to overreact per se but i was happy for camp. Did he left last night's game with the ability to talk trash to the team. That was getting on him about being. Check down guy practice. I mean can't exactly go deep in this game but he didn't have to and cam looks good but you know who else look. Good matt jones like they seem to. They always say like two quarterbacks. You don't have one. I think the thing is just have two quarterbacks like they might just have to good quarterbacks one rookie they're going to develop and then one season better who's going to be that week one starter this to me after watching last night again. I don't wanna take too much. Wavering preseason game but after watching last night this is cam newton's job until it's not and i think cam newton is successful in. This team wins that he will continue to be the starting quarterback for this team however because the other way i can see mack jones playing this

Bubbling stuff starts happening. You're like is this safe but eventually that corner kind of balls off and pops off so get that number one number two gotta wear shorts great. You gotta have a tank top because that that feels like a pool party to me. I think you should wear swim trunks. Because there's some flash swimtrunks out there and you never know you don't wanna be in a position which you meet somebody new and they want to go in the pool but you're not prepared to go in the pool because you know men will do anything anything under the right persuasion so you have to be prepared for everything so i would wear swim trunks and i would bring some clothes toe shoes. I know he's committed to be in ann arbor but i can't wait to see how they perform next year and i believe everything he said at his initial press conference look that he wants to have a team that's disciplined gives back to the community and win the national championship and makes the alums and the student body proud and look at recruiting class. Do you know before john got there. The last mcdonald's all american do you know the last time. Biscuit had a mcdonald's all american chopper. John who did a great job for the program. Get some dunks. And don't be a typical young player who sometimes allows his offense to dictate. Now if he's gonna play the rest of his game he's had to get some move. Get it off movement. Get it off cuts. Get you a steel. Get you a block. Get yourself going get to cry on. We will see the mvp in that game however the runner up for the mvp will be in the previous game of that is game. So i have a theory because he went to the line wants a one time in the crowd was an mvp. Now i've never had a crowd chant. Mvp at me. I don't know probably not as okay. I don't believe so. But here's the thing. He went to the line he telling them to be quietly. Here quarterback atlanta's garbage. No you when it's quiet pay hitting. Here's a newsflash jacoby when you're taking thirteen seconds and when you want it quiet. That's when it's tougher thinking more you now get into your own psyche. Somebody's like zero dribbles. Zero hesitation ref pass you the ball shoot the ball. Jacobo can't be worse than what you're doing. Now you ready for this. Your brother jalen. And larry ann wan said that on the night of may twenty-first leading into the twenty second he and bryce roads and the two brothers and jacoby taylor were all hanging out at prices. U.S. Stimulus Checks Start to Land in Bank Accounts
"May be some money from the government there. Now. Over the weekend, The first of those $1400 stimulus payments started showing up in people's accounts theorists has the job of sending them out yet another project for the agency right in the middle of tax season, NPR's Brian Naylor reports. It's been a rough decade or so, for the I. R. S budgets were slashed. There was a hiring freeze and a loss of workers. Tony reared in as president of the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents many I R s workers Since 2000 and 10 the iris has lost nearly 33,000. Employees. It makes it very difficult for the agency to do its tax work when you know they've lost more than 20% of the workforce. Then a year ago, the Corona virus pandemic hit the filing deadline for 2019 taxes was extended to July and the I. R S is still behind in processing those returns. And now, with the 2020 filing season underway, the agency has new responsibilities. It needs to issue the latest stimulus payments to some 85% of American households, according to President Biden and implement other provisions as well. It is big task on top of filing season. As well as the other stimulus measures that were put in place by the bill that Samantha Jacoby she's with the nonprofit center on budget and Policy Priorities, She says the Iris will get some help in the bill and infusion of $1.4 billion to modernize the agency's 50 year old software platform. The IRAs knows how big of a task this is and how important it is. They've got this big infusion of funding, which is really important. There could be some hiccups. But the Iris is working really hard to get this relief to people. The IRA says it's reviewing the just past, Billa spokesman telling NPR the measure is a really heavy lift in some respects. Nina Olson, a former taxpayer advocate at the agency, says the iris should be pretty well prepared to issue the stimulus payments. I think that the stimulus checks are the least of their worries in this Sense that they've done this twice for in the last 12 months. They have the programming in place for most of it. Certainly with the December around, they showed how quickly they could respond, but also says another provision of the measure could be a bit more complicated. It's the new monthly child tax credit of up to $300 per child that Democrats included in the bill. Which the I R. S is going to have to figure out how to implement its A new pro. Graham. It requires monthly payments. Although the issuance of monthly payments is to me the least of their worries. It's are you paying out the money to the right people, you know if the child is moved to somebody else's household Or another child is added, and another provision in the bill, which makes unemployment insurance payments. Tax exempt for many Americans is a further complication. Many taxpayers have already filed their 2020 returns and may have paid taxes. They no longer Oh, says Samantha Jacoby. The good news is starting last year. The Iris will now allow people who want to amend returns to do so. Elektronik Lee, which wasn't the case in the past, and that might make it a little bit easier for some people, But she says it's clearly a big challenge for the I. R. S to carry out. All that's been put on its plate with the new legislation, and it's going to take some time. Brian Naylor. NPR News, the first Western country to get
