"New players into league first chance to get the Jersey There's a run on the buying of those jerseys. The top five jerseys sales since the draft in the NFL. Now, Brady's Jersey is still going to continue to my home to Jersey is still going to continue to sell. I don't think anybody's buying the Rogers Green Bay Jersey that waiting to see if there's gonna be another jersey horizon, but the top players always sell, but the new guys make hay and headway when the NFL draft takes place. The top five selling jersey since the NFL draft in the NFL are Tim Tebow of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes, that Tim Tebow. I think it's number 85 18 or 85, or 86 preacher was a five um Tim Tebow in dark. I think Jacksonville got a black jersey with blue in it on Tim Tebow in the White Jaguar jersey top to selling jerseys. Both Tebow jerseys number one number two Tebow of Jacksonville, and that's a phenomenon unto itself the next three selling highest selling jerseys in the NFL. Justin Fields, his white Chicago Bears jersey. Justin Fields, his or in Chicago Bears jersey. And Justin Fields, his black Chicago Bears jersey. So places 34 and five and the top telling Georgie and the NFL are Justin Fields, Justin Fields and Justin Field, So they're buying into a big time in Chicago. You know, I'm buying into him. I don't know why guys like, uh, rich from Chicago. After checking and go all you rode that game, We got stored question. He didn't really played too well, just overlooking the unbelievable game. He had a couple of weeks later against Clinton in the national semifinal game. You don't wanna acknowledge that one I got beat up by Jeffrey couldn't beat out Jeff from in Georgia. Well, Jeff on finish up his collegiate career. He was drafted last year by the Buffalo Bills. The bills, of course, have their quarterback, which means Jeff from isn't going to be able to get on the field any time soon, But they they felt so strongly about Jeff from Is there back up? That the bills went out and signed Kyle Uh, Mitch Torbinski this offseason actually be the backup in Buffalo. So maybe Georgia just made a mist Ake in sticking with care from he was the established doobie and peels couldn't beat him out and field settle. Yeah, I'll take my act somewhere else, and it went to Ohio State and got him in the playoffs two years running. I think that kind of getting the job done for controversial, But there are some haters out there who just always want to paint. What's wrong rather than what's actually right. I don't get it with Justin peeled I, James, Pennsylvania is not gonna help us. Close out the hour. How are you? Day games? Morning. How are your duty? Good buddy. What's on your mind? I want to talk about the women's U S open, and I got a surprise. That I think can really chase and win. Okay. Lucy Lee. All right. Urban Meyer Envisions Utilizing Tim Tebow in Taysom Hill-Like Role

"Got tim t we got. We got number one. Pick in the draft playing quarterback. We got a team. That was one in fifteen a year ago. And now we're bringing it in ten tibo to run a taste him hill style package. Chris canty what do you think of that. I don't like it g. I gotta be honest with you. I mean we've seen him he'll be able to do a lot of things in the nfl. You can throw it can catch. We hadn't seen him to be able to do that at a high level at least not enough to warrant him being able to make a return after a six year absence from the sport so i just think it's a long shot in terms of being a contributor on the field with the jacksonville jaguars and if he's not going to be somebody that's a productive player. I don't think it's worth the distraction again. This is another one of those moves. This offseason got a lot of those guys in that. Jacksonville jaguars locker room looking at herbert. Meyer sideways i going out there and trying to sign. I will strength coach. Chris doyle to be your head or strength conditioning. After what happened with his tenure there and now with bringing it over i just. It's a move that reeks of privilege. And it's a move that could undermine the credibility of your head coach moving

Is Urban Meyer Taking a Gamble With Tebow?

"The biggest story in the nfl right now. is tim. Tebow and the jacksonville. Jaguars on friday afternoon. The jaguars sign boat to a one year. Nine hundred fifty thousand dollar minimum deal as a tight end. His jersey makes up the top five selling items on the nfl shop dot com store. Now figure that out and to me urban meyer's really running the risk of losing his locker room here because if you talk to people inside the league if you talk to executives and other coaches there's a lot of genuine skepticism over urban meyer becoming. Nfl head coach generally. And there's a sense that it's four more likely that he flames out and never wins a playoff game than it is that he winds up winning a super bowl when this experiment bringing in tim tebow not necessarily even as a quarterback you have trevor lawrence. They're bringing tim tebow into that locker room in two thousand and twenty one and having him sing for his supper is a tight end. There's a belief that meyer runs the chance inside the league of losing his locker room before this season even begins

"This is austin lane. He's a former. Nfl tight end the host of action. Sports jacks on. Espn radio he was joining. He was joining freddie and fitzsimmons about whether tibo is going to be jacksonville simply for his leadership. The whole narrative that tim tibo coming to jacksonville. Be an urban meyer guy and helping that locker room presence. i think it's baloney. I'm not buying into that narrative because what what guys look for in terms of leadership and guys buy into his guys that have had except you know leaders guys that you can say this guy the baller. I gotta follow him and watch. How does now. I've talked to many times. Tim is a fantastic guy. But i think the whole narrative of you're going to bring him in because he's a great locker room guys all right. Great there's there's tons of great locker got. There's tons of great teammates just like any locker. Rooms made up of all types of people. So i'm not buying that austin lane also talked about. What exactly will tibo be doing assuming. He makes the team the whole narrative. That tim tebow coming to jackson i understand that he knows urban meyer. They have a great relationship. I guess you know. Urban meyer bought a house. experts week. Sent tibo so even if he makes the team. That's going to be great e hollywood. Tv show Urban meyer tim hero next door. It's gonna be fantastic. It's gonna do all the rating. But i do think this. This is urban meyer first year and then i saw and you know he's bringing his guys in. I understand all that. But what earn myers gotta realize. Real quick is that. You can't take anything if tim people is going to make. This team is because tim tebow has earned a spot. There are no you know there is no. I like this guy lot. Let's give him a spot. That doesn't work like that players not locking them. We'll see through that day one so two hundred two things are going to happen either. Tim tebow is not the tight end which we don't think he is and i'll be honest. I'm kind of in that boat or tim. Tebow is a tight end. And he earns his spot and he gets that roster spot and that's it was not good enough during the roster spot. He's not gonna get it. Because of urban meyer gives him that spot. He's gonna lose that locker room in a heartbeat.

But first I've got to remind you guys tomorrow Final round coverage, PGA Tour and Pebble beats where some of the best companies in the world will be competing at the 18 T Pebble Beach Pro Am coverage. Begin Sunday at 3 P.m. Eastern Edge, 12 Pacific on CBS. So big tournament wrapping up tomorrow on CBS. I will have to pay attention because I paid a ton of attention to college basketball today. And I completely forgot about the golf, so I gotta make sure tonight what you got before I hop on the air here tomorrow night. Six a year. M Eastern 3 P.m. Pacific time. Um, but prior to coming back from one of the breaks wasn't it was the previous one. Uh, Jimmy G. My producer, James, for example, did make a point that I had not even thought about. And when he said it, I first said Nah. And in the morning I thought about it, I said. Could Jimmy T beyond the something here. I was listening to you. Ah, uh, Carrington before I came on tonight, and he had a guest on. I think they were talking about the Texans. And they said the Texans are the biggest mess of an organization right now in the National Football League did. Shawn Watson is trying to lobby himself out of town as best he can. They had to release JJ Watt this week. They got exactly nothing in exchange for the best player in the history of the organization very to on all points. But you can make a case for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Because David bad a couple of years in a row. Now they play more games across the pond in Europe than anyone else because they can't get fans to come to their games. This year didn't matter because the NFL like so few fans in the game three game where, anyway No European games at all with the covert seasoning add, But don't forget that we were just a couple of Ah, year and change removed from the Jacksonville Jags playing home games. Basically in Europe on a year in Europe basis s. Oh, yeah, They're a bit of a laughing stock themselves. They hire Urban Meyer. Within weeks of him getting the job. He hires a coach who's got a terrible track record and well documented that he's a bad dude, and he's got some racial bias and the like and No sooner is he hired. All people I do is go to the Wikipedia page and find out that this was a bad guy and a bad hire Chris Doyle. He resigns 24 hours into his new job, which means he didn't resign. He was fired. On So they've already got internal strife with that organization, and oh, by the way, their roster stinks. And Jimmy, he said to me Maybe just maybe Trevor Laurence. Holes and Eli Manning for those of you old school guys, a John Elway. A number one pick in the draft guy saying, Well, I'm not gonna play for this team. Then what do you do? Do you draft him, and then he turned around and trade him. Had not even thought about that. Yes, the Jaguar bed organization, but the bad organizations get the first pick in the draft. That's how it works. But now they've added an extra black eye with a new head coach has never coached before the National Football League, and he's already got himself in hot water in the town and oh, by the way. It's a bad place to play football. Can't sell out games. Now, depending on your attitude, you could take it as a town to say, I'm the one who's going to get them to sell it. Everything game and Jack and Bill or you can have somebody whispering in your ear telling you this is not good for trouble. Lawrence's brand We want you playing in a major market for a team that's gonna be competing for the playoffs every single year. Maybe we should flex our muscles here and say that you'd be a potential. Hold out if you drafted maybe wouldn't play and I hadn't even thought along those lines. But maybe Jimmy Key's on to something. You know why Jimmy thinking along those lines and why I'm buying into it? Because if you're the jet, you could just offer toe move up from number two to number one. Now a Jacksonville states, basically right at the top of the draft. They get the second best player in the draft of trouble. Lawrence is the best player in the draft. Plus, you get added draft capital. That's not outrageous. This is a drama. I'm a beat over the next couple of weeks to see how badly things are going in Jacksonville's All right, Let me get a couple calls in here before I exit states. Left dug in Sacramento's up on CBS portrayed 08 Doug Hi, Jody. I want to talk with you. You first time Caller. Excellent. Excellent program. You're You're the best. Um, I, uh, caught a little bit of the, uh, the, um Show earlier. You were talking about the AIDS and I was just talking to your call. Screener Any set me straight. I've forgotten about Marcus Simi and I wanted to bring Simi enough. I dub thee just got rid of Chris Davis and they traded Or Elvis Andrus from the right place of Simeon. Right? Right, Right. Right and your screen or I'd forgotten. I was thinking they traded him to Toronto. He signed As a free agent. But anyway, getting back to your Synopsis of the A's I agree with you. I think they're downgrading the AIDS a little bit, but I can see The eighth, dropping off because Sim, it's simian struggled a little bit and in 20 like a lot of guys, you know, with the shortened season, but he just the heart and soul at least in my opinion of the team. A couple of years ago, he was an M V P candidate. Just had a great year, and I think they're really going to miss him. And I think that's one of the reasons. Well, I, um you know, the You know, downgrading the AIDS a little bit. The experts I think they're going to win more than 80. But I was curious What you you had left out the angels, and I think they've got a pretty powerful lineup They brought in foul auras. Well, what do you think? Do you think about their chances? Just add a curiosity. I think they're a team that could come contend for wild card. I don't know if they're gonna win the division, but I think upgraded some they still haven't done enough for me with their rotation. That's why I like Oakland. Montas. I like Lazard. Oh, I love manias solid bass. It's not bad. Feared fires is a good five. That's a pretty darn good road taken. It's the best rotation in that division as a better rotation and the Astros have with no Verlander next year. Definitely, so I think that's underselling them. When you got Olson and Chapman into corners, you got productive players on both sides. I'm a con hop fan Who's going to get.

Urban Meyer to keep health in mind as new Jacksonville Jaguars coach

"A jacksonville is the best job opening in the nfl. right now. they've got eleven total picks in the upcoming grab first round picks one hundred million dollars in salary cap space. They have the number one pick so all unless unless someone is as a complete and utter fool. that are going to be Drafting trevor lawrence. Whether number one. Pick and trevor lawrence. It's supposed to be a generational great. Come on man come on tomorrow to mark. Among on if sean con come on man is about time you get serious if you can go ahead and get yourself but yourself in the position where hey you know what. We've got a really good thing going here. In terms of the future we covered that bear. And we've got all of this to work with you know. How many times would love to be in that position. Already mentioned the fact in the nba raphael stone in general managers. In general in that league you ask them what would you rather have in terms of rebuilding program. All of these guys who say man. I'm a multiple picks a lot of salary cap space to go ahead and do my thing. Would you get that injectable even with a hard salary cap now. Jacksonville isn't the same as far as free agent destination as a los angeles or the bigger markets. But still you're talking about. The state of florida was no income state tax. You're speaking about ill a situation where you're gonna be working with a generational great quarterback possibly. Hopefully i mean there's a lot of things you have a really really good young talent on that team that a lot because the team one and fifteen but there's there's some ambers within the within the the fire that you can That you can work with. I mean it should be very attractive job for a gm but if a gm any worth of any you know any worth is going to go in there and you're going to be talking about. Yeah i'm going to be in charge of the roster. I mean come on man you know the next bill polian next ron. Woolfe is not going to be like yes. That's pretty good and then since you already hired the couch you gotta make sure that the coach in the general manager president of football operations are together as one as far the philosophy is concerned. And we don't know where myers philosophy because well. He's never coached. He's never coached in the nfl so he might have a philosophy all this kind of stuff. What is it based off of. It can be based on what he did in college because college in the nfl completely different animals. Yeah you might have a philosophy of how you deal with people in college. What when you're dealing with people in college. They're eighteen to twenty two years old when you're going to be different of course and you know this coming central tell you. It's a lot of different dealing with grown men who have mortgages who are building their brands. Who have kids who have other responsibilities lot different way. You work with them. Sure in a college situation. You are of the defacto you are. You are the maker you are the guy you are the when i say jump you answer. How high when i say run through brick wall put your head down and go through that brick wall inc a college. You can get away with that stuff in the. Nfl is not. You're not coach. Employees i mean. This isn't supervisor employees working together. This is a collective understanding in terms of where we're going so yeah you wouldn't have any philosophy and you can have. You can try to find players that are into fit that philosophy but how rigid is that philosophy going to be. If you're urban meyer in college will you can go ahead and you can recruit anybody who you want to. You can text. You can call and you can do all these things and you can go ahead and develop a relationship over the years so you can even have a better understanding it. This young man is going to be able to fit the philosophy that you have in college. You can do that shit and the nfl you can't and the nfl is a business. And if you speaking about philosophy you better think about the philosophy. A win. Because i used to do all that bullshit about. Yeah you know. I bring these young men into the league. And you know these guys are young and some of these come from underprivileged backgrounds and these guys never have a checking account before. These guys don't know how to do this and these guys don't know how to do that so for me as a coach especially being a black coach with these kids coming into the nfl coming in basically as kids even though there are twenty one twenty two years old. I feel it's a responsibility for me to show them the ways of live and the show them how to do things the have them grow and mature of by the time that they retire that they'll be able to have a foundation for them to be successful one. Urban Meyer returns to coaching with Jacksonville Jaguars

"Smart there. Don't tip your hand. Their urban meyer. Even though everybody knows it's going to be trevor lawrence. It's the number one overall. Pick going to jacksonville. Here's the thing. Marcus what did you think of some of the things that urban had to stay today especially about adapting. Yeah that's the only thing that mattered to meals Obviously we talked about urban. Meyer never being. Nfl head coach. But how fast you get the respect of these rome in. How fast can you let them know that we all pulling in the same direction but you also want them to have their individual success. I think coaches missed that in the nfl sometimes like those things can be cohesive. They can work together. You can have teen success but also coaches. That's coming into the league. These acknowledge that a lot of these guys want to have individual success because not only does it further your career in the. Nfl helps your family off the field. You get paid when you ball and then when you set up for success so adaptability was amazing for me and then to. I'm not going to get caught up in this whole quarterback who they gonna take i. There's a dark room somewhere in jacksonville where there's a huddle of about thirty to forty people already. Printing a damn treble lowers all is to or submitted so they could put up on the website and sell out in five minutes. That's all that the jacksonville jaguars go sale jerseys like own a serious though. Y'all trouble or is being drafted number one overall. Obviously he checks the boxes with skill level and talent but there is a city ride known. This there is sweets that that need to be sole jerseys. That need to be sold and a shock of excitement around this organization franchise. I don't think anybody can do it. Like trouble lawrenceville.

"Ahead. Hey, J. R you kinda answered my question. When I was on home. I was gonna just make comparisons. The Knicks a venue. We've already kind of charge down that territory. Obviously, from the details you rather off. There's a big upside given what's going on with Jacksonville. Did the deal. Explain what terms of compensation he's going to be getting? No from everything that I've seen. I haven't seen compensation yet. I would gather based upon where other coaches a rat. You know, the rule comes in, and he hasn't coached a game in his life. And he was in that that that 8 to $10 million range, so I would figure Urban Meyer coming in. I've pretty much gathered a pencil him in at Or about $10 million given state Okay, That's pretty much whilst thinking Standard issue. What? Not like you Like You said with only one win. I feel a lot of upside here. Obviously, he's gonna have a lot of picks to make. And Urban Meyer is used to building more than just handing off the decision. Makers like a coordinator here are coordinator there so I can upside I can understand. The only thing people always point to you is Nick Saban. He's the example of a successful college quarter coordinates coach that went to the pros and didn't do very well and He just wanted seven national championships. I don't think he's gonna be moving out of Tuscaloosa anything but that's the only conversation I was gonna make. You come into that question when I was on hold. Well, no, I'm glad I'm ahead of the curve. Paul. Thank you. So much for calling up from New Orleans. Let's not out to Colorado and let's talk to Zach Zach. Your CBS Sports Radio, The J. R sport brief show. Yeah, I think there's no really that urban can work out. I'm just a little bit worried about the owner out. I think I kind of metal little bit job. How was it years ago? Their championship s o. Your audio isn't too good. Zach. I want to address what you just said. I am. I am less concerned about Shad Khan, and that is the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville Jaguars problems over the past several years. I hate to do it and mention it, but I primarily point to Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin, as we know was right there. When the Jacksonville Jaguars were basically awarded a franchise, he helped build them into a respectable team that just basically disappeared into the toilet. Not too long after we know Tom Coughlin eventually got the head coaching job of the Giants. We know about the success that they had Tom conflict also had to adjust his style. Things change. Tom Coughlin was a task master. Do what I say. You're five minutes late, Unless you're 15 minutes early, just etcetera. He had the change. He had to relax. And then they won again. He was basically on the hot seat. Retires. He has an opportunity to now run the team, The Jacksonville Jaguars the team where he originally was, and here we go. He brought in that same old man mentality and, unfortunately, the Jacksonville Jaguars got fined. Started ruffling the feathers of some of the stars. We've seen the exodus and Doc Way, Ramsey. I can go on. They weren't happy there and could you blame them? But this is a different this is a different situation right now. Tom Coughlin is gone. You're still waiting to see who the full time general manager is gonna be your bringing in Urban Meyer. I think it's less about shad Khan, but more so about who's running the show. He had a lot of faith, and he had a lot of patients in conflict until he couldn't anymore. All this started literally costing him money and finds J is calling up from Pennsylvania J. You want CBS Sports radio? How you doing? They are so perfect. I got two points to make. I think Urban Meyer and the lot is overrated personally, and I think you know, coaching. Usually, if you look back at the college championship top recruit team, they recruit the best win the championship. So if you got a better team you're supposed to want Secondly, if you look at the history of the college coaches, I don't know any college coaches that won the championship, a Super Bowl to Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. So like these college coaches Don't seem like they're really like they can coat with even playing field. They can only coach when when the thing is loaded to their favor. I don't know. I want to know what you think about that well. And I said this in the last hour How many coaches at all. Let's think about every coach and now I don't have the statistics. It would be ridiculous. But if we really thought about every single head coach that was hard in the NFL. How many of them went anything. Look at that the odds and the chances of slim Coaches get hired to get fired. Forget college. We could say that about all offensive coordinators. We could say that about defensive coordinators. Could basically lift up my hand. And just say over the past 20 years, maybe 30 years. These are the coaches who have won titles and championships. And then everybody else is just like, okay, You got one. And then maybe you got one there and and you got to Let's boil that down so all 32 head coaches The majority of the head cultures right now in the NFL aren't going to win a damn championship. So I would unnecessarily measure that and say, Oh, well, College coaches can't win and I fell. Coaches get jobs and they can't win. That's just the reality. It ain't for everybody. You get your job, You get your salary..

"Something. Heard something right? Mike Flynn, who you want your backup to be right something. Mike Glennon is the type of quarterback right now they could get shin splints and be a career ending injury because Who wants to sign him. Get the Jacksonville Jaguars are playing him. Don't get it. I don't get the logic of teams that are out of it. Not playing a young quarterback and even someone off your practice squad. Who you could at least learn something about the jack. The jack horses didn't do that. Well, now they've locked up the number one pick. So maybe you know things will change. Rogard Norman Hsu out there. See something? Is he a number two? Is he worthy of a practice squad spot behind Trevor Laurence? I don't know. But Figure it out because Lenin just Is not it. You're not learning anything, and the Bears made them pay. And if the Bears are making you pay, I get it. It's been a good run. But it's trouble by the way and just throwing this out there because for whatever reason, we're spending 90 seconds upon the Jacksonville Jaguars. James Robinson. Yeah. How about 1000 70 yards for an undrafted free agent rookie who is only on the field because of injuries, and nobody knew who the Hickey was. A week before the season started. Incredible and to do it in that offense. Kind of goes to your argument, doesn't it? Running running backs, right? Exactly. Diamond does it? I tell you all right, we'll take a break come back, and we will set the scene. With the one and only the Hall of Famer John Miller. He joins us next year on KNBR. I mean, Jeff Ford says she like that TV show Queen's gambit. So I'm gonna see if I could play chess it all and try toe loop up on Jimmy G. Onna. Jimmy. Jeez, He's our quarterback, and I'm just gonna go with the guy that took us to a Super Bowl and play the high level of the entire year. That's my case of Jimmy G nine. I think it's a decent one on while the Niners get ready to go out with a bang that dubs they're just getting started. Now we can start to figure this thing out a little bit kind of what we need to do how we need to play. "This episode is also being presented to you. By Harry's guys readers have been on a downhill slide. This has been really kind of looking like things Zor just fallen apart for the team. Jon Gruden has said that he wants to shake things up and that's already kind of started with what we've seen with regards to the defense miles. They've waived DJ swear injure right now. They're moving things around with Wurley in the secondary. What can you tell us right now? About the a state of the defense with the raiders. Will Jon Gruden is just not happy with it and I think that was the biggest thing that came out after his Monday. Press conference was just just how unhappy he was with the defense in the way the defense has performed I mean. He said that he was sickened by it. And that they're not gonNA play like that again so I think there's only so much that they can do right at this point in the season there are only three games left but what they can do is replace their safety They had DJ swinger in in there. He played four games for the raiders. He started three. I mean you talk about a guy that had a lot of disadvantages. He came in and he really did not have any any practice time before he had to get on the field and play a significant role and so we have a guy that starts three games. And then you're saying all right. Well now we just want your. It's it's not really your fault but you're kind of the scapegoat. You're getting out of here. And then they're gonNA put in Darryl Worley now at safety and so we will see how all that turns out they also play I think as a Johnson at Corner Opposite Trayvon Mullen. So that's two rookies. Now at corner you've got a corner than going to safety. The back end of the defense has has been influx all year long starting in week one when Jonathan Abram went out with a season ending shoulder injury so we'll see how it all turns out in the last three games but like I said I mean it's is just very difficult to make any kind of big time adjustments when you're already this late in the season. Yeah I mean this. You said it's been patchwork type defense. I feel like a for quite some time. Here with the raiders and it started with losing abram losing vonnas perfect. There's been so many different injuries and things that have happened with this team in regards to the people that they expected to have versus who they do have now. I mean if if you look at it right now miles and start to think ahead to the future. There's a couple of games left here but we still have to think ahead. Where do you think that the raiders need to Start focusing their attention on when they think about a draft pick. Are you looking like maybe. They're looking at a linebacker or maybe they're looking at somebody for the secondary. What do you think that the raiders would start with? Regards to try to rebuild this defense for next year Humana. I mean you could look anywhere on this defense and say all right. That's a position where you need upgrade. I mean whether it's cornerback. I mean listen. I don't know what Isaiah Johnson can necessarily bring to the cornerback position but that would not preclude preclude me from going out and using one of those two first round. Picks at the raiders have on another cornerback. Trayvon's played all right. He's played decently well but again like I said you. You can upgrade anywhere whether it's corner whether it's safety the pair with Jonathan Abram long-term whether it somebody on the defensive line you want to go out and get a fantastic address it appear with Clooney furrow because I think we can say the cleland has been a little bit disappointing when it comes to being an edge rusher that can you know get to the passer with any consistency. Obviously linebackers certainly a position of need especially because even avant burfoot were still playing. He's on the older side side right. I think when he comes back from the suspension he'll be on the other side of thirty. So look you there any position you WANNA talk about. You could probably upgrade with this raiders defense offensive because it just isn't flat out not been very good. Well here's something that has happened. Further waiters defense to hear Whitehead Right. Now is a nominee for the raiders for the Walter Peyton. Nfl Man of the Year award. I feel like that's something that we should celebrate because I mean to hear Whitehead. He's been somebody who's been with the raiders now For a a couple of years he was first with the lions but He's led the talk for tackles right now this season. He's led the raiders in two thousand nineteen. And he's a guy that I I was reading this thing. That the raiders. Pr Set out. Sent out where. He actually stopped for a member of the military on the road. Hell Tim within. The car had a flat tire. After this. This Guy Watch car after car. Just drive by and pass on and here to hear Whitehead stops to help the guy so I mean these are things that they consider when they look at the NFL man of the year. There were the Walter Payton Award so I think this is something that it's a positive I mean it's not exactly something that you're doing on the field but it's something that I think we. You should celebrate with the raiders. I mean what have your interactions been like what to hear Whitehead out there a pretty positive I think what does a guy that has really kept the defense together there to the extent that it's been kept together Because of the way he is the defensive signal caller right now. He is one of these veteran leaders that I think guys looks looks to on the team in. It to Whitehead's credit. He has been pretty accountable after games. He's been one of these guys that you can go up to. And he will still talk and not everybody is like that. In the raiders. Locker Room so I think that that's something that you can say you can point to to your. Why didn't say okay yes? He is definitely only a leader on this team. And you know the Walter. Payton Man of the year is one of these awards that is meant to honor both on the field field work really player and then you pair that with off the field work so I think you know one of the more famous winters the last few years was. Jj Watt when. He raised all of that money after the hurricane hit Houston and there's all that flooding and everything in so he became this really huge disaster relief program. And I think that there's a lot to be said for somebody who excels both on and off the field so yeah I think it's. It's definitely something to you. Acknowledge that to your white has the raiders nominee the one of thirty two nominees from all teams all right. Let's take a minute and flip things over to the offensive side of the ball and this is something. I'm also going as Vinnie about here shortly but miles. I WANNA get your take on it because both of you are out there evaluating things as you see this team. Prepare for the game against Jacksonville. Josh Jacobs Right now is very humbled by injury. I mean this is something the MRI came out. Okay we're okay we're the. MRI is concerned. But when you look at Adam how much do you think that. He's a true game time decision as he was last week. Well I think the good thing is that he's been cleared to practice and so he really wasn't able to do much in practice last week. He missed the walk through on. Wednesday did not practice Thursday and then was only able to do just a little bit on Friday and so when Jon Gruden said that and you heard his tone after the Friday practice it was like oh well maybe this is something. That's going to keep him out this week. ee tone was very different on Wednesday when we heard from Heard from him at his press conference and so. I think that Josh Shakeups may not see the amount of the type of workload that we've sort of come to expect where you know if you're in a game and the thing things are rolling like. He's getting twenty twenty-five carries. I think that might be reduced this week. Maybe a little maybe maybe in that fifteen to eighteen Kerry range. But I still think that if Josh Jacobs is out there you're gonNA WANNA use him because he's GonNa WanNa play. He's the kind of guy that does not want to let his teammates teamates down and so it's something that's resonated in the locker room and have been. He's been asking guys about that as well. So I think from that standpoint. Look Josh Jacobs does out there. He's going to give it his all he's GonNa give as best And it's certainly a positive. Sign as the raiders. Definitely want to win this game offensive rookie of the year that he he takes that award if he plays a lot and he plays well in these next couple of games. Yeah probably but I think but there are still some other decent candidates out there. Kala Murray is the one. Because he's a quarterback I would have to say he might have a leg up And if the raiders were are on the verge of making the playoffs more than I think Josh Jacobs Candidacy would be Maybe a little bit better but that said he is still pretty good candidate. I mean he's rushed for one thousand yards the only rookie in the league to do that this year. It's got seven touchdowns he's been an integral part of this raiders. Offense and he really is. What makes it go so he he definitely has a shop for sure? Alright everybody we're going to hear from Vinnie Bonsignore. Next I raiders beat writer. He's going to bring us up to date on all things happening with running back. Josh Jacobs Ebbs but first let's hear from quarterback Derek Carr and what he had to say about Josh Jacobs as a teammate. This week or last week like we've known for so long we like when it happened. So we all know you know and That's why everything he's done is even more impressive. You know than Than just what it is. You know The way that he's Men He's one of my favorite people. We have great conversations all the time you know off the field on the field The Best My guy we have we have some good a good talks about all that kind of stuff in the process and How people last in this league and all those kinds of things and He's he's the kind of guy he reminds me. "Ornaments. You know when you're young like that. Everyone recognizes you. Need to grow up. Please grow up. You know there comes a you talk about accountability a lot but within that group before Devin could be the whole team heavily class right. So how much was he behind it. We can't be the wing leakier. They're counting on us. Then then you start to see people. Yeah I think yeah and with his injury and really hurt him set him back probably six weeks before he could do that you know and he still was with with them. Talking to the rookies. But when you're not playing at that level you can't talk that level you know. Now he can back it up and he'd bring it not only two rookies now. It's everybody is everybody guys the imply for this week. No no more price afternoon. You know To Mel looked a little pretty sore. you don't know what caps is yet but Again he probably played a quarter with. It didn't say anything and I wish he said something because struggling a little bit tacos bit calmness. Mister Koppel Games prior to you. Last couple of weeks missed practice on Friday. How important has it been together battle Komo huge? That's I think that's the other thing of those guys fresh all the time. Plus Carl can go inside and do damage against guards and George Strike You're so he just has versatility and being able to to have a great rotation we've got a good rotation inside guys now outside guys and Sam jumped in there and got a sack fumble. Second Health General rule. Yes it's on the one we're going we're not kicking It's very seldom. Has It happened for us but If you jumped up we're definitely going straight to the two points. Yesterday row didn't get a lot of books. Miss Lives pickup of. It's not the first time right in the season the new more than halfway through so just to to talk about the importance of that seems obvious. But if your quarterback gets blown up he could be the Z.. Yeah that was a fumble. You know that was a big. We had a game in hand and But it was something anthony had been switched way. We're going to block something because of their blitzes and He went to block the guy he used to block in. That wasn't into plan in on his. "I don't know it's very strange. All I know is. I'm very happy to see the Carolina Panthers Implode. Hey we might not have the first draft taken then and see south. No no told you. We'll get later be sucking down about it. Yeah no for the Carolina Panthers to fire. Fire Him now. They've given up on the season. I kind of turmoil you just can't. It's hard to come back from that it's a bag. Shakeup midseason like they fire them on a Tuesday. Aren't you starting your game plan for the next week. Like what are they doing. We shall see. I think we're going to see a lot of a lot of Christian McCaffrey because he's really the only player they've got offense anyhow and I'm GonNa say this sort of throw this out there because it thrills me to no end. Mark Cook tweeted out. Journal McCoy coach killer. And I'm not even kidding. Ralph had texted me that about two hours before Mark Cook tweeted that. Oh yeah that was. That was one of my first thoughts when Ron got fired I was like well. There's Germany Kuwait work again. This this will be German coins. Sixth coach each sixth head coach. How do you even do that? And of course everyone's GonNa be like. Let Me Cable Corp. last night can't I can. I'm going to and this is the perfect situation for him because if you notice when he went to Carolina he just absorbed the media. I mean he was immediately in front of the camera. We're constantly had that little film done of him of him driving around the campus there with the media personnel in the golf cart. And all this stuff and he's been in front of the camera nonstop with them now. Ronald Fares Gone Cam Newton's out of the picture these for now. So that leaves Gerald Al McCoy the Voice of the franchise because he's not a big camera guy so this is now careful for. It's he does this everywhere so that's going to be interesting very very entertaining. I'M GONNA love the heck out of it and it's so funny. Because the Carolina Panthers fans are the exact same way with him. The buccaneer fans were with. We'd love Gerald McCoy such a great guy. He's a good leader you know he's he's got the office sell fast copies of his mind. He's already got four sacks on the year you're just like Oh my God so so it's going to be interesting to see how that plays out and here it was. I thought you were happy to be rid of him. So we didn't have to watch him or talk about him anymore. I haven't even watched any all twenty two hundred but I have seen a few places and there was one. There was two plays that I saw where I was just like. That's typical Joe McCoy. One I think it was on a fourth down and they ran right adding pushed him out of the way and got fourth down. Yeah that was on the broadcast. I thank God I think even the the the commentators mentioned and they're like well they just put all the way for them why they said that's the biggest holding ever seen. Yes that's right But there was one and I might have even been imprisoned that I can't remember I don't think so. I think it was at the beginning of the year but the the they were on the goal line stand and the running back back roads and hits the line endure McCoy is standing there and he turned around starts walking away before the play is over in the running back bounces off the the pile and in shoots right in the gap where Gerald McCoy should have been standing but he was walking away at that point typical. So it's really. I'm I'm really going to enjoy this whole Carolina. Saga all. You Buchan ears fans listening on this podcast are going to hear about it for the rest of the year. I'm going to drop as many panthers fans face he's limited can. Oh my goodness funny. I thought he was going to a contender contender. He just blew it. I CAN'T I. T was having an aneurysm when he read Mark Cooks too. He probably a surprise bill and they're talking some stamps. I was going to tweet our response. I think the other day where he tweeted and said that sue is not as you know that sue is not vital to our run game and we could get rid of helmet are run game would be just as good. That is that is insanity at somebody who does not watch the games at all. Not just to just the Games Dhammika. Sue is a huge huge presence on our defensive line and he is excellent easy leaked at run stopping elite. So anybody that says that. They're they're halfway to being. Can we say retarded anymore. No what's the politically correct term news. I don't think there is one. We just have to say eh there. I got nothing of any. How good they in football? This has been good Book News One Panthers. Exploding that would just need the falcons to do it teetering right on the end. We thought they were coming back broken. We crush them I. And then they lost to New Orleans on Thursday night football who they play this week. I think they're the ones that play Carolina they don't quote me Atlanta there was one team in the NFC south that had five division games in a row. And I think it was Lena China. PSA plane the Falcons. Carolina's playing the Falcons. That's that's GonNa be also if this coach collapse APPs is contagious. Isn't that city in that. Carolina plays Atlanta. Well if Atlanta does not implode this week. They're definitely going to implode they play us. Dan Quayle be fired before he leaves rich. Probably but this game is at the home and they have had a small tune in attendance. So we'll see that's gotta be tough for an owner you know you're you're like you spend all this money and effort trying to build a team and you you pay attention to attendance and then you go. How can we get people in the seats right? That's always a big question. How can we get people in the seats? So what do you do you think you. You Know Kinda like Dan Snyder us to do just can't big names. Free agents just gives many free agents as you can come in and people will be like. Hey I wanna go see these guys play so. It's really hard hard. I mean what do you do I mean. Of course they all want to build a winning teams. I assume but besides that how do you get people come Dona. I think it's something. The panthers the Falcons how things are going to be dealing with for a long time. Balkan ears turning the corner. I think we're going to be a very winning team for years to come. We're GONNA start filling up our stadiums. Of course I wish that we filled the stadiums. Even when we weren't winning but such is life vows dictator. I make everybody goes to the game every required. That'd be this part of your citizenship. You like a back in the air tax into Denver so much it was like civil service in Israel. Well that's going to wrap it up for me. We've got the Bruce Arians press conference at the end of the podcast here. If you want to check that out getting the Molly Factor Panthers. Ah That's why married you all right. That's going to do it for US till next time. Looks a lot of that I mean. Is there a mentality and coached is something that. Yeah it's it's it's it's coached. I mean we we work on it. Constantly turning a corner turned the corner. Where's the ball is? It appears that down there and finding the ball but don't miss the tackle and stay where we have slipped off. Time's gone for sack. Fumbles When we should have just got the sack you know at the if you're not seeing the ball then you should just tackling the guy and But yet something that's both you have to have the skill to do it. But it's also coached team was built.

"I mean they got as soon as you grabbed him he going to the ball. You don't care. We had no first downs on four drives in the fourth quarter. Didn't really need on my manage. The clock at that time at that point. Four of their twelve drives. Where three and outs? Wow yeah mom. We did a good job with the. They had four saks. We had five or longest place. Thirty two yards. There's thirty nine. We had six plays over twenty yards. They had three again. JP was just. He was the man in this game he was just he was destroyed. It was doing a good job. He was all over. The place caused a lot of chaos and disturbance D. because they were focusing on Vida Su Shaq Barrett or Arnaud beaten US guys wandering one. He was just playing with a lot of energy. They did a really good job there. Their front did with holding Vian sue dramatic. It was the most most impressive. I've seen an offensive line against those two yet. I think I had one play. That's a that's incredible hill. Yeah and he hasn't played he hasn't had just one replace since the start last year Donald Smith OJ Howard and Jones worthy worst players on the field as far as blocking or concern and I would just random five hundred three horrible but they were the worst for everybody else did pretty good. I have no idea. Kappa was injured so they pull. Oh Him in the second half all second. I heard what for his name but they have put him in those jumbos and before so I thought put Josh Wells then. When they did the job he he had a great play? Man I think it was fifty four. Donald Payne came in and Josh Wells hit Hill Hill Pancake. Him just took him to open up a big old hole. I think it was painting more rigid getting seven yards. But yeah he I mean he just laid that good whitehead thirty one he was was great. He'd be played all he was all over the place. I'm glad to hear that because I feel like he's kind of been a non factor in the last few game the Blitstein quite a bit in this game two One time he came rushing in and they're right guard I think it was. Aj Kant just he. He pulled scraped back in and caught thirty. One I'm coming in declared him but thirty one bounced right back up chase after the ball. The press got slammed but he likes that contact that gives them more energy Um but that's about it. You know. It was a good game to be honest with you. I didn't see as dominant of performance by the buccaneers as I thought I was GONNA see did. The teams were kind of matched evenly. We just we played harder with more energy and we wanted to win more. So would you say we won the game or they waas not say we won. We had we had a lot of good plays that they just couldn't I mean they couldn't overcome that twenty four zip deficit at the beginning. The first half. Here's his is way too insurmountable for and none of that stuff was like fluke plays either. That was US making plays right for secondary's a little suspect. They seem confused back there a a couple of times we caught em but our secondary was just spot on. Let me just fantastic. It's been what two games in a row. Now where they'd just played lights out a love that I love of them. Well I think it's important that we see progress. Fans were defeated kind of towards the middle of the season or on this lose. Cherie St James's Winston looks like crowd and people are talking about tanking for draft picks that point and so i. I think it was really important for the team to show us that. They haven't quit. Not Quitting for each other is more important in. I'll be a it shows to me that they bought in and that is clicking more for them the fans and the media both in the media really surprised me with this after that Seattle game everybody Kinda turn positive towards the bucks and it really surprised me with the media. Did Not expect that from him but I think everybody saw that what you know. We went into Seattle in their place was very tough place to play. Took them in overtime. Stood toe to toe with them And I think the media realize hey there's something really special going on here and I think the fans Wednesday to really surprised me with immediate with that part though because remember same thing happened in two thousand twelve Gregg Giannotti. We went to Seattle went toe to toe with them lost in overtime in the media. Just crap all over but now they hated Gregg Giannotti. So they're gonNA crap on him no matter what he did right but I. I think everybody can see that. There's really something special about at this team and we all felt it coming into the season. I was a little disappointed with all the losses because I thought were better than this wire the plain to see giants game or two games where you were just really like what should have won those and that Second Carolina game where we just got trout fellas really really to me that was one of the more demoralizing ones speaking of which let's good segue there. The reds reds games broke the Carolina. Panthers you'll lose to the redskins you get your head coach fired if you're not aware like the redskins fired their coach. Then they get Ron Rivera fire of cloud. We don't have to play anywhere. There's a lot of contagious stuff in. DC I can tell you Robert was fired today. There's rave coming except us. I thought he'd be fired by the season. I'm I share. Wait we're GONNA have to go back and look at our predictions but we both said Cam. Newton wouldn't make it through the year because of injury. Or did we say you get benched store balance and I think you said Rivera was going to get fired at the end of the year and I said he might get another year or something like that but the Louis and scape has changed. NFC South used to be the most competitive division in NFL for the past decade. I mean we've had every single one of our teams other than us has gone to the Super Bowl of course two of them lost in humiliating fashion and now Matt Ryan's might not make it in Atlanta. I think they're going to do a house cleaning. They're really surprises me. The most that job could be in question. Yeah I didn't expect that he's played really bad. I think it was last week. I mean the defense stepped up. Gave them an opportunity to win and Matt Ryan just crap the bed. Ronda hair's gone. Dan Queens probably going to be gone. I take this is the last year of NFL as we know it. You GotTa look alike. Manning gone Tom Brady might be gone from New England into this year right. He's a free agent. We'll see what happens there. Philip rivers is not playing great they might Bent Chan Dan rivers. Yeah Matt Ryan Inderla Gone Matt Ryan Might Be Gone Cam Newton. That's up an air but I think it is he going to be a free agent. Now there's supposed to get like eighteen million next year so that they're going to have a serious choice minimum. He's gone from Carolina he'll be out of the League but who knows some idiot team will pick him up. It was just a lot of big changes happening in. NFL especially at the quarterback exposition. All these old timers are going away. They drew brees is really the only ones doing well. But the old timers you got all righty. I mean he's the oil well. Their team is doing well. Me The pins. I mean they were doing well against crappy teams but now that they're having to play decent opponents inconsolable. They're probably going to the playoffs playoffs. Like eight and whatever their clothes. Oh you gotTa Win and record in the AFC. You're going to go to Andy Dalton. Yeah well he's back with momentarily. It's just a it's a dog new age and there's a large possibility. The buccaneers is GonNa be on top of that wave. Yeah can't we have Jameis Winston who. He's got his ups and downs. But he is when all those quarterbacks leave he's GonNa be a veteran fifth year. You're next year will be six. which I'm thinking we'll project GONNA franchise? They would be the best thing for everybody all we we got assigned Shaq Barrett. I it that's going to be a tough one because baird is going to want to test free agency and if we can get an agreement with that we can at least match. Whatever he's offered that'd be fine but I don't want it to turn into another Michael Bennett situation where he says? Yeah I'll let you match it. In-in doesn't just pieces yet. You know you know the front. The office of one BUC place has been trying to get him signed to an extension since nothin happened yet. That's a good indication that you know his home and his agent which is St Rosenhaus Rosenhaus. He's a he's a bloodsucker. They want to get as much money as they can. So they're going to test out free agency and you know there's nothing we can do that. We let you know. We can't stop stopping for going. So he's GonNa cost a pretty penny to keep but we gotta keep him in. We gotTA keep it. We can't let him go. What about J. P. Bill? I'd like to keep him to but I don't know if we're GONNA OH keep everybody. There's actually no we're not GONNA be able to keep everybody right. We got peyton Barbara Barbara. JP Janus Barrett Nasu Sube. Isn't he coming up. I don't remember about NASA but Chris Godwin because of his performance. This season he's going from. I am seven hundred sixty eight thousand in two thousand twenty two an estimated two point. One four million per Gregg allman. That's all he's getting paid. Now that's crazy I I have to say. NFL's PP proven performance escalator. Never heard of that before must be in the news so he's eligible for an extension after the season. Then we need to keep him. I'll tell you what we got a lot of a lot of stuff but our offseason was going to be nothing. Compared to the Carolina Panthers off season in Atlanta factors barreling rallying. Oh man we're going to be on top of this division for a long time Roy. Rivera's fired as head coach of the panthers. He had nine years. Here's is the head coach. Three winning seasons. What's yes it's crazy? Incredible I had no idea what to the playoffs. Four Times one of them with Louisiana losing record on your incredible incredible. I mean there's the same record as we are right now. They're five and seven. Yeah Yeah Yeah. His record with the panthers has been seventy six sixty three and one. But it's a little skewed because the three years that they did have winning records they won over eleven games so I think when they went to the super bowl they were fifteen and one that really skewed the numbers are panthers fans. You know. I've been following them all day. Just the athletes feeding tears. Actually they all are extremely okay with say it's like they've all been wanting it like you. Now he's a great coach. He's done great forest but it's time to move on. He's just not that they're saying he's not doing in. Game adjustments not good management He's gotten conservative again. Remember Rohingya Riverboat. Ron Apparently that was like three years ago. And he hasn't been riverboat round for a long time because he's been on the hot seat norv Turner there. He's their offense coordinator he got. I don't know if this is a demotion or a promotion but he's not offense coordinator anymore. He is now the special assistant to the head coach that that is very very strange to me. It's actually surprised me that he didn't get the interim head coach job. A Perry fueled did who was their secondary coach. So why I me. Nor Turner has been a head coach before he's been in office coordinator for ever. He's a really good offense coordinator that's always good and he's not good at head coach and he's a horrible head coach. Maybe that's why they didn't put him as head coach but why would they take him out of offense coordinator position now. He's basically just fire him too. I mean he's a special assistant. The head coach. What could they created a job for him? I guess liking he's consulting the interim head coach. Maybe because he's been a head coach before but they had to call him a special assistant assistant..

"Observer. podcast Phillips December first two thousand nineteen. We got a Christmas present in early win against the Jags beatdown against convincing win. Yeah you thought they might have a chance starting in the third quarter and they tain Gardner Men's shoe and he does have kind of an energy about him but it wasn't enough to scores eleven points. We held them to well three okay. Does it count. If he gets into point conversion as a score I guess but you don't you don't count extra point though in in any case eleven points eleven points all garnered in the when. When do they get their first field? Goal third quarter. Yeah we were up twenty five zip with is one of three left in the second chord. Twenty five that's a long biggest we had all year. Thank yeah and they did hold us to three points in the second half well the old box would have given up leave right. The offense really needed score any more points. The defense just needed to hold them and keep them from scoring points. This is is the new bucks we win Games. We should win beat up on bad teams the Jacksonville. Jaguars came into this game with the same record we did. But I heard there on a four game family streak makes it five now. I think this includes tonight fun. Game to watch all kinds of good stuff and beat Vale. End Up in the fall back. Position Block for Peyton. Barber for a touchdown have lot of interceptions. Fumbles sacks turnovers Devon. Wyatt had a touch had a he had a good game. was that a picnics picnics. What was the touchdowns that on fumble picked it up and then also had a fumble recovery? It wasn't a touchdown. But he's got what three fumble recoveries on the season. Two of them are for touchdowns at least that's what I recall. Yeah three fumble recoveries touchdowns gave me mad about that now. He's all is a really good football day book near Fans who congratulations. You showed up to Jacksonville. It was nice to see more Tampa. The fans in the stands and Jacksonville fans at least look like more. The rate stood out more. We turn out not only. Did we win today. Carolina last redskins. Yeah that puts us at second in the Division Division. Say we're fighting New Orleans for the division title. What to do they're yeah? I don't think I'm I'm pretty sure we have to have Minnesota lose out and we gotta win out if that happens. We're into blow but that depends on Minnesota losing that. I'm pretty sure they have to lose out once they if they win a game and we're a think do they play against tonight Seattle. Clark yeah so this is is important to us. That's what's fun about this time of year is when you're in the playoff hunt other games manner to you just for fantasy football purposes exactly. We had a little more mistakes than I would have liked. He didn't have any touchdowns but he also didn't throw an interception so that's a big one right there. He was sacked four four times but there there were a few times when he fumbled. He had the one fumble two fumbles one fumble and we lost it but there was one point one sack doc I think where he was scrambling and Roggio ran into him. I saw you pointed it out to a couple of sacks I saw was the offensive. John was the running back to Howard missing blocks so I look at that on tape see. How many of those sacks off at alarm Jay Howard had a good game today day in sixty one yards on five receptions? Isn't the Jacksonville the sack leaders in the league. Something like that. Now they're sevent- they're tied for seven to the browns actually but here's would electives. Game slid away. Even though we haven't twenty lead and I can tell the narrators narrators commentator. I I actually said that you can feel the momentum shift in the stadium and I was like yeah. It's a bunch of Buckner fans and they're all thinking. Oh here we go again. WE'RE GONNA lose kidding with. I never felt threatened in this game at all. I did a little bit. I felt like they were picking up momentum. There was a big reception by Charq Day. Drive forever down the field but they only came away with three so gardner. Men's shoe definitely has a different energy about him. The benched Nick foles. I think we broke nick foles. I think we broke Matt Ryan and I know we broke Cam. Newton and Julio Jones Julio Jones. He was out with a shoulder injury this this week that a sustained against ears defense played well today interesting stat. I saw last week. I haven't researched it to see where we're at now or even if it was true but we have not allowed a third and seven or longer play this year and we didn't in this game from what I can tell when I remember I was sitting there right on down uh-huh every time it was third and seven longer. We stopped them penalty yards. Books had eight for forty four yards Jacksonville double debt. They had sixteen but they tripled it for yardage at one hundred twenty-five crazy not allowed to give up y'all or not a good football team. You just throw that out there now. L. Dj Charq in my fantasy football. God's punishing moving ever played against the buccaneers. We Beano in time of possession. We had the ball thirty three minutes. They had twenty six minutes. Turnovers four to one. That was incredible. Did you see beyond that special teams play. They showed it on the broadcast they had Ryan Smith tripled beating the crap out of him on special teams. Don't go he is so whoa. I have never seen that before where they put three guys on one player to try and block you. And that's the return that they had. That was a good return because they were able to hold old. We really good special teams. Plays like when we were on our goal line basically in the offense later in the game and they held us to three now and we had to punt the ball basically from our end zone Bradley opinion punit it and it was a good punt and then they got a block in the back penalty. I think and back them up it was like they have started on the thirty yard line whereas before they probably would have expected that they had really good field position. Especially when we're putting from our the end zone that sucks Maldin leave the game with an injury. Hope he's okay. You know. I think the next play. They made a completion on Ryan Smith for for a chunk of yardage it might have been fifteen yards but we blew rumor veto blocking on offense. I love that I love seeing him on offense and and you brought this up that this week media were what you notice from the locker room interviews. Just everyone loves him in the Locker Room. He's like a favorite. Yeah that's what I've heard is that he's like last week. They don't bucks fan under podcasts. And we're talking about in the locker love the last week. That's all anybody in the locker room wanted to talk talk about. VW's touchdown just beaming from year to year cool and you know defenders have to be shitting themselves when they see him. Lineup offense. Yeah he drove that one and I think he drove straight backwards. I love the creativity. The trickery can't believe I can't believe a call at the beginning of the year. It's going to be a little bit better. When Gardner mid shoe came in you could just tell? Their whole team changed quite a bit. He's such more dynamic player but he's also more GONNA make a lot more mistakes he had at least two. Maybe three intentional. Grounding calls at work called one day which I was happy about but then there was a couple of others that were just completely blatant like man you know. I hate those intentional grounding calls. Sometimes I called some. Does he know we would add eight sacks. Yeah it'd be nine if they would've intentionally grounded. The ball and Nevada David called for that. Pass interference on fourth and goal as incidental. Omeday I mean what could they do. He's run he's following the guy. The guy stops and runs in the hill. Do Bullshit call and that sucks to because he was on that streak of penalties twenty seventeen. Oh that's right. Got About Oh man. Ref crew was a lot Anderson. They seem like they did an okay delve other than that yeah. I didn't really notice any blatant issues. He's the eagles lost to Miami. Tends to have the same record that they do. I think finding seven we're out in division with the Eagles. Those are in the conference with the Eagles in the panthers. All three of us are five and seven. The bears are at six and six cowboys are at six and six. The Rams are six six five zero plan now and then from there you jump up to eight and three of the Vikings bitings of the ones where they have to lose out. They are the last of the wildcard. Right yeah right right. Now it's forty niners saints packers cowboys sacred. I come in here for another saints. Packers cowboys than the Vikings seahawks those the ones in the playoffs. Brad now deceased and read now three weeks ago we were joking about US ducking it's now it's a serious everybody's talking about it. We can do it. I mean it's a long shot but we can do it. We got a good team. It's one game to watch coach. That's what's important very entertaining. It was for Jacksonville fans. I'm sure but there were a few times when we could have given up the lead when not give up the lead but give give them a chance. Yeah that was one of the most impressive things about this game to me as we pretty much kept our foot on their throat so game. We didn't screw up and start vomiting allowing points to him and stuff. Yeah James only cost the ball up one no interceptions. It was just that fumble did it but it was ruled incomplete after the challenge. Yeah definitely hit the Ground Jones. Yeah we challenged challenge. It's turnover maybe. That was a different one. We will have have the Bruce Arians press conference at the end of the podcast here. If you're GONNA stay and listen to that. I'm sure he's going to be in a good mood. I haven't heard it yet. It'd be ready to get his drink on. He's probably got a couple elaine him already good win guest a bad team but we dominated like we should. I thought I run. Game would be more dynamic but we really didn't need to to do our best. Receivers were not at the top of the Bourne Permanent Howard. Yeah paramount and Howard today and then my Gavin's both had four receptions each fifty yards. It'd be three for my Godwin but look Evans was targeted. Eleven times in the only four. You're yeah for sure. Five of six for eighty seven.

"I was addition by subtraction don't care who the hell was played quarterback this year for the Jacksonville Jaguars they needed to rid themselves of the headache that was Blake Bortles and he's gone and they bring a guy that delivered in Philadelphia there is a god in Philadelphia after help them win a Super Bowl with the eagles now do I trust the Jaguars to take down the pats will save your pictures and you know this well coached we got the greatest quarterback of all time who doesn't seem to age they just had a big time weapon and Gordon as long as he's able to stay on the straight and narrow I consider to pass the drug test he's an impact player even at what is he twenty eight twenty nine years old he still an absolute physical freak you know what you're gonna get in that'll mean yes a little bit of regression at tied it with great cast yes the news the other day with the center David Anders have a blood clots not a good sign at all god it's been a starter up there for for five years in part a you yo intj here that often supplies the rock solid but they're so well coached they know how to execute a game plan and they're no allowed to take advantage of the miscues and misfortunes of others solve your patriot fan that keeps you warm and cozy at night yeah I can't talk ya I can't tell you why you're crazy no pagers are going to be there now this is the year implodes I mean people have been saying that for six years it's all over remember when they lost a game what was it in Kansas city remember that bangles will follow a week this is the week every that it's past time is calm it's over Brady's over bell check what they do like wax the bangles that week and they went on to win the Superbowl there was a Sunday or Monday night game in which they when it can't sitting actually smoked so I don't until it ends I know people hate the phrase well I got to see it to believe it that it really is true with the patriots even when it's over I still believe it's over I mean Brady my point only sixty five years old warm part Gander what's going on in your Hey mark up what do you think the message you're gonna do with JD Davis next season I they haven't listed as an infielder but the little bit that he played third base he was really shaky I think you got a lot less damage out left field and maybe a whole spring training of playing the outfield it could be okay and I like to see him go after it red donuts are yeah it's going to cost you a lot and it always to see the nats lose out on to impact players and let him leave via free agency in back to back all seasons and now a little bit tough to see though Andrew I mean everybody I mean they they want to pay Harper or they gave me a three hundred million dollar offer but I mean some of the money was so I mean it was so convoluted where their pain until the sixty five years old so it was a three hundred million dollar offer an essence but he wasn't getting the money at that stage now Randall we know how great of a player is I mean if you're Washington now their playoff team they're three games up on the calls for the first wild card spot in the National League if shares are healthy they could be a dangerous team major player in the National League I just have a hard time not telling you would look into med uniform I have a hard time thinking then after gonna let another quality everyday player leave the building and walk out of Washington and not sign that he might one leaf but I just have a hard time envisioning that now in terms your initial question with with a JD Davis Andrew maybe also that one of my most comfortable JD Davis's as a DH yeah I know but yeah you know but I you know I there's no DH in the National League so yeah I I would not trust JD Davis in the infield I think the most the best thing you could possibly do is get him as comfortable as he can be as a corner outfielder there we have three DH is right now playing well one ones on I. L. but you know Davis no and a lot of those really should be at the edge well I don't think Alonzo is as bad as scouts lead you to believe there's going to be now he's not he's not Hernandez he's not don Mattingly at first base he's nothing like that Andrew but no I've seen I we've all seen worse for space and now he is not not the fleet is the fort not the most agile guys will make some plays a very very interesting but I can live with Alonso now pro typically if you stick Alonso in the American League would he be a DH probably yes it would be the guy that you're gonna have a defensive replacement for late in the game yeah I mean potentially you know you don't want to lose the battle line up now yeah I mean can no you get concerned about his range now at this stage mid to late thirties that's a problem you're locked into him for four more years yeah Davis what is shown here about JD Davis is it that's one there's not many malt moves in the Aussies the Brody van Wagoner can hang his hat on that's one of when the DS can no one that has not been hung anywhere JB Davis that's a good one any given opportunity and Davis would that opportunity is the law with it so I look him as a piece I don't know if I'd say that he's a foundation piece by look him as a piece now you got to find a way to play if you're gonna be built around starting pitching we also need to have a look at defense somewhere eleven seventeen and the A. M. loses with you we're gonna total fantasy football stock rambling is going to join us in studio Scotty G..

"From the Jacksonville Jaguars MAURICE Jones, drew could I introduce the next guy. I o alright lis. Please feel free. People don't understand what this guy. Maze to me. Yes. Seriously. Almost got choked up, but I'm not gonna cry. All okay. He's crying. When I was I wasn't. I was bad. I was at my bottom. This man here lifted me up he took me to a place. I don't want to give promotion to but we worked out together at a certain place in a certain city in Denver, any changed my life and only changed my life. I felt like our connection guy stronger. Was it helped the Rams get better? I'm talking about the one and only the greatest play by play caller of all time. Maybe long. Yes. Ladies and job. Interim no question. We haven't worked out since. No like collectively not independently. Just that one time that one marines. Have you worked out since then? Yes has I do. For your information to connect with another Westchester as do. A little West Chester pug cost. I wanna get into a bunch of stuff. But as quickly as we can Marie said already that New Orleans is the best football city to visit because of the food and such J B long, your thoughts. Well, Green Bay is special because of that community just how isolated it is the stadium. How involved everything is output that one right up there? But Los Angeles is growing we're proud of it as a football community that rally on Sunday to send the ram now. Morrison rest now for that. Right. Okay. We were just talking about Marie almost getting choked up, and if you wanna cry MAURICE, please do lad. Lad, the waterworks open up that would meet gangbusters. There's only there's only one one movie that I ever did that Demi, and I'll never tell you all come. Why won't you? Tell little giants gives me ever. Tell him. Why don't giants makes you want to know you want to know why? Yes. Because it's the kid with the glasses finally scores attest down after all he went through all the heart. I get tough see MAURICE hardy Goan deep down. Right. Hey, so win or lose. That's the end of the season. Will you to J B and Marie? Will you guys like hug each other goodbye? Or what are you gonna do? After this each empty game. We win the Super Bowl. And I'm not saying I'm so when I say, we I'm talking about the call when we have a better call than the other folks that were going Akins d do you guys? Do you guys? Get a ring if you win this is that I mean you around with the Rams I get get a ring as a as a ram. Ooh, that's a fascinating. A ring as a round. Yeah. Oh, definitely. I'm gonna wear it everyday up. His right hand is gonna take it already taken the right? It'll be taken with gonna wear a Rams ring around. Yes. Why wouldn't I I don't know? I just seems interesting that you would. It's a ring that the time that I wonder. Yes. All right. Not saying you shouldn't it's you are implying that I should not. I'm just thinking out loud. Is that the right thing to do? I'm not exactly sure. G where are your thoughts? If I wear it maybe occasions like these. I'd certainly lock it up. I put it someplace safe. I always like when the when the head coach in the locker room right after the game announces no one can ever take that ring away from you yet coach they can take the ring away the hate the fact that you won the game lead. But they always get bogged down with that j be great call legitimately. And I told you that and I talked with MAURICE about it as well because that now will live for the remainder of football eternity is your call an overtime win fifty seven yarder. And you seem prepared the moment didn't overwhelm you. I sent this to Marie last night. Or what overwhelming? Well, because I listen I sent the marines. Are you nervous for the game? Are you at all JV? Yeah..

"I just don't understand stuff like that. And here's what you know from a player's perspective. We watch this game. And nobody's going full speed. Let's just be clear true at any point in this game the going full suite in why Kevin because they don't want to do what get injured to get injured. But now you're going to be one of the best running backs in football. And you're gonna go take a risk on a wet field to go rush against a giant human being that any Mona could turn it on and on. Seems a bad idea to me is deck Prescott. Fires to the left side and finds Amari Cooper at the forty five for pickup of eight. But if you're willing to take that kind of risk, let's go play the game full speed, right? That's what I don't understand at some point doesn't it off at you. You put the game at the highest level. You've got a chance to be in the hall of fame and the next week it if an offensive lineman sees that the intent is to show up the offense of line. That's my point let you show me up in my seat. I'm going to try to kill you. I'm just going to. I mean, I don't wanna hurt you. But if it happens, that's your fault. Not mine. Third and to the forty five to the sideline batted away from Amari Cooper could play by Jalen Ramsey. And I know you saw Jalen Ramsey make a lot of places like that over the course of the years. Jalen Ramsey did not have as good a year this year as he did last year when he was first team all pro he was the best corner. Hands down in the NFL. It was a tough year for the entire Jacksonville Jaguars organization for Jalen Ramsey to me is still the best corner whenever he wants to be the best corn. And I'm not saying that he didn't play hard times. But he was just more focused. You could tell it seemed like and he loves pointing against the best players when he does there's nobody better. I'm he can really shut guys down four and two shotgun snap bobble by Prescott. And there's Ramsey again. As he tried to hit him on a slant. Amari Cooper, the slander and Ramsey bats it away, but they're gonna call pass interference against Jalen Ramsey. And it'll give the NFC life on fourth into. He was on the side. He was dancing down the sideline did not see the flag and the flag comes in late from the back judge. And I think they saw that off. Twist the hips of Amari Cooper, probably the right call. But what I mean? I get to watch. Jalen Ramsey every week doing the Jaguar games. And I love watching. I'm biased because as a Jaguar being part of that franchise for so long. But truly watching him play. He's one of the great young players in this league. And I think he will be one of the best corners for a long time in the NFL on first down ten at the forty eight yard line of the AFC just the seventh. I doubt for the NFC Prescott. Ariza deep Amari Cooper, drops it at the two yard line. He had six yards or more down the right sideline on Chris Harris, junior and Cooper just dropped. Chris Harris has beaten he basically says I'm done. He just stops running ads. Touchdown. And that ball bounces off the face mask of Amari Cooper. That is what you call embarrassing that just doesn't look good now with that set. Amari Cooper was the difference one of the big differences in that Cowboys offense. He had a fabulous year. It was a great trade by the Cowboys. And and that's just one of those things happen. Sometimes second ten Prescott throwing deep down the right sideline for feeling the past skin complete the coverage from Derwin, James. But here comes a flag, and it'll be pass interference against the rookie from Florida state Derwin James flagged here down the near right sideline. He bumps feeling as the balls in the air. It's funny watching these players are all talking officials affairs. Number thirty three. All in fun too. I mean, they're they're getting after the officials the sidelines laughing at each other. This is what the Pro Bowl. I mean, I like with like a more pace to it in more speed as far as both sides. But I do love that these guys have fun. And they joke with.

"Running back from the Jacksonville Jaguars just giving some great insight on what's going on in the Rams mines heading into the Super Bowl. We did have this conversation about the way the NFC championship game ended. And I said it's going to be brought up next week to the Rams at damn well will on on Super Bowl opening night. The media will definitely ask the Rams what they think of the their presence there. And how New Orleans says it was robbed and Andrew Whitworth gave a preview I think of what the Rams are going to say when he phoned in the day after the NFC championship game. He used the term excuse. And that there was every opportunity to win the game after it was. In many ways in the saints fans taken away from them by the egregious. Non call when I talked about how. It's the worst non call. I've ever seen. And I've really gone in my head about what comes close. And the only one I can come up with and we've discussed this off air bring it up here. Now, the nineteen ninety eight World Series gang gas at San Diego. Padres game. One Yankee Stadium. Where the Padres had the lead Yankees load the basis of lead on Tony Gwynn hitting his first career home run in the in the World Series was amazing to see and they had the lead gangs with the bases loaded. Tino Martinez at the plate. Mark Langston on the mound. And he threw on right down the middle for strike three. That was called ball three. And martinez. Then turned another pitch from Langston around for grand, slam home, run in the Yankees swept that World Series and wound up one hundred twenty five and fifty overall, I you know, I can't I can't come up with a as bad blown call as that. And saints fans have every reason to be outraged. And a lot has been said that Roger Goodell in the league is not sent out a statement yet. What what should the league say? It was it was gonna be what's going to be satisfactory for saints fans. You know, it was a missed call and the league is taking under advisement any. Any what? Possible. Changes to replay rules will be discussed me. It's going to be talked about when the Commissioner makes an appearance next week in Atlanta. And then when the Commissioner makes an appearance at the owners meeting or anywhere, all what's what's going to happen here? All that said. I do want to say this because it just I'm seeing it on my Twitter feed right now. One of the senators from the state of Louisiana Bill Cassidy is on the floor of the United States Senate right now with the famed times picky Yun. Photograph and headline of refereeing unbelievable on a major large piece of poster board and another poster board on an easel pointing to the pass interference moment. And I'm like say, you know, I think this is a crucially important sports moment. I get it. The city feels robbed the saints fans feel robbed all politics is local get it. You're talking to a base, but the government shutdown right now. In my hometown of New York City airport in LaGuardia Airport has all sorts of delays, and and all sorts of air traffic problems on the east coast right now, we're getting set to fly to the Super Bowl right now. I'm worried about getting on a plane. I'm not lying and every single member of TSA and all of these folks who are air traffic controllers. Who aren't getting paid and the the I don't wanna get political here. But it just outrages me. That we're talking on the floor of the United States Senate during a government shutdown about the NFC championship game. Quote, what happened my belief in the belief of many was the most blatant inconsequential blown call in NFL history. Senator I agree open the damn government. And then we'll talk about it..

"Jacksonville Jaguars and National Football League player making the transition to the world of acting and we've seen him on dancing with the stars. He's also got a new book that I have right here in my hand. It is a Thome that is the first book in a series of four called, arcade. And the triple t token is fiction book series for kids, the cl- the coin slot chronicles, which is great. Can't we take this home and put it in the hands of my kids and say, it's Rashad Jennings. It's his new book right there. So he'll be joining us. Shortly talked about the weekends games. The match up to come in Atlanta. Are we allowed to talk about that matchup yet? We're just still stuck in the riptide of what happened over the weekend. I'm ready to talk about it. Or if you are. Phone lines are lit based on our first our conversation with Stephen Jones is well, okay. So we can we can turn to that. In a split Bowman. Stephen Jones is the competition committee member from the Dallas Cowboys there's a handful of members in the competition committee in also includes Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton on this Marvin Lewis was so I'm wondering who's going to replace him on it now that he's no longer the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. And they're gonna meet in March. And the question is what comes out of it based on what he's saying that there's going to be everything taken under advisement talked about. But the first thing he said, he said every one of the first things you learned about the competition committee is you you never make a knee jerk reaction. You've gotta do it without emotion. You gotta do it out of the. I guess. Line of fire, which means I su- March will be enough for them to make some sort of decision. Although saints fans, I think we'll be worked up about this forever. Congressman Steve Scalise is chimed in saying that the NFL needs to replay. The end of the game. Which is nuts. It's totally crazy. I was gonna say some. No, no, no, no, no, no. This is nothing political at all. There's nothing to do with politics. Other than the politicians are now chiming in governor. They've got other things more important thing. I know that I know that. The government shutdown and all right? Let's not shut down the replaced. Let's restart. How about let's reopen the government as opposed to the reopen? The NFC championship games at what you're saying. More important. Look, they're not replaying it they're not going to do anything about it. But what I have proposed and what I propose to Stephen Jones is a system where everything is review. -able the world of challenges though. You don't expand that world put it in the hands of the coaches you have between snaps to throw a challenge flag and say that was pass interference. So that wasn't pass interference. That was helmet-to-helmet where that wasn't that should have been a face mask. You didn't call it all of it. You get two of them. Right. You got third. That's it. Try it out in the preseason. See how it works. He said that that would be taken under advisement and apparently already been discussed. I imagine Sean Payton is going to be more full-throated. Also in the first hour of the program. I mentioned in light of Mariano Rivera being the. I unanimously selected player to the baseball hall of fame. Another one final perfect frame from oh. That my list of top five Yankees of all time. Ruth Gehrig Di Maggio mantle Rivera. I know it's leaving out. I know it's totally leaving out. You'll even out guys like Whitey Ford. You're leaving out guys like Yogi Berra, you'll even out guys like Thurman Munson who I know what he meant to me, I still cry when I think of him. Nonstop. Hey, look, man troll. All you want over there. Very trolling comments. Nice. You'll even up guys like Gigiri and Reggie Jackson. Who obviously he was only at a Cup of coffee with the Yankees. When you're talking about the full scope of Yogi bear off. You have to name top five. Mariano Rivera was the first unanimously selected player for a reason. And in this day and age where people leave ballots blank because they're making a protest about the shift rule or people leave somebody off because they think that that person's position really doesn't matter as much closer shouldn't be in the hall of fame. They're not that important when he compared to everyday position players. It's hall of fame. How famous really Mariana very to walk down a street. Can you tell him Arianna of areas? I mean, there's so many different ways that people them with their Twitter accounts, their Facebook, accounts and Instagram accounts, or whatever other accounts wanna make some sort of name for themselves. Click bait world. Fact that it didn't happen for a reason. There's a reason for it. He's an undisputably all time. Great player for a franchise that has so many generational players over its history. It's tough to keep up. But I think he's taught five in my book. I agree. Rich, Joe Torius. Well, we'll ask Joe Torry when he calls in an hour number three. He's calling in. And this is gonna be really appreciate it. He's just coming back from Mel Stottlemyre funeral the longtime Yankee pitching coach who was the pitching coach next Torian those dynastic years passed away last week. And David Cone was there. He tweeted out from returning from the funeral as well that Stalin Myers boat was named MO in the ninth. Name because he was so proud of Mariana funny that was Mel Stottlemyre is boat mo- in the ninth. Okay. Eight four four two four rich is the number to dial. You've got a news update. You wanna do that? Now when you wanna do you wanna do it after a shot Joe Jennings? How does that sounds good? Okay. Or this..

I know you have somebody who keeps track of your picks on the even money podcast. So by the way, that's not only the bird man Todd Bergman, but it's also one of the tuck heads does it and has his own numbers. He runs Sean Grady from Australia. So he's going to end up coming on the even money podcast at some point. And by the way, some of you still don't know what tuck heads is so tuck heads, I'll just say quick is a it's a forum. It's a message board online community in which only listeners because I only talk about it here on the podcast only listeners come and we all just interact chat with each other. You chime in as much or as little as you want some people like Jason Montgomery and David Merlene. Oh, are prolific other people just chime in every once in a while. But they get a chance to read a lot of it for me. I just love the interaction and being able to chat with some of my listeners able to actually talk with. Listeners pretty awesome. So here's what he said. Just in case, you don't have a similar tracker for your NFL power rankings. Here's a link to what I've recorded over the weeks. So he went through and recorded where each team was every week. Right. So where they started. And then where they finished. It's really pretty awesome. And so, you know, and he has you know, when they have a big jump over a couple of week period, or whatever he notes that as well. But here are the big takeaways that I found interesting, and I think you guys would find interesting as well. Here are his awards. He said just for funsies, Kevin, please don't say funds ease again. But that's okay. But please don't say funds easy, anyway, a few awards based on these rankings surprised. Team of the year. This was a tie between the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts who both Bri. Finished twenty one spots above where I had him before the season started Twenty-one spots above. The bears and the colts. Then you've got the disappointment of the year. That was the Jacksonville Jaguars. They dropped twenty one spots from their preseason rank. So kind of interesting Bri that the greatest increase was Twenty-one spots a tie between the Chicago Bears and the apples colts the greatest decrease was the Jacksonville Jaguars who dropped twenty one points, which by Twenty-one spots. Which by the way is good. Because people always say to you say to me, I go on these radio stations around the country. And it's like Ross who was the biggest disappointing team this year in your mind Ross who was the biggest surprise team will now I know now I know the answers to that bears colts surprise team Jags disappointing team as for consistent team of the year. This award goes to the team they had the smallest number of rank changes over the course of the season. And that award goes to the ramps who stayed in the top five all season Rams were top five all season and only had eleven places worth of rank changes all season long. So that's kind of crazy. They only move eleven spots. You know, up one down one whatever all season long that is pretty crazy. Then he has the greased pig of the year. In contrast, the team you just couldn't get a handle on with your rankings, the runner up was Tennessee, which changed a total of sixty places in my power rankings this season up down up down the. The winner though is the Baltimore Ravens. They had sixty three changes or a change of nearly four places one way or the other each week 'cause I think they were in the middle, and they went up then they came back way down then when they put Lamar Jackson. They went way back up. You know, you guys really high on them. So that's kind of funny that you know, the that the ravens change more than any team the whole year, then he's got the dentist..
