"Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars will become the first NFL team to play two international games in the same season when they spend back to back weeks in London this year. The Jaguars will host the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium on October 1st and visit the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 8th. The Jaguars were set to play two designated home games in London in 2020, but the pandemic canceled those plans. The NFL also announced dates for three other international games and released the opponents for a few other games, including the first Black Friday matchup. I'm geffen coolbaugh.

"New players into league first chance to get the Jersey There's a run on the buying of those jerseys. The top five jerseys sales since the draft in the NFL. Now, Brady's Jersey is still going to continue to my home to Jersey is still going to continue to sell. I don't think anybody's buying the Rogers Green Bay Jersey that waiting to see if there's gonna be another jersey horizon, but the top players always sell, but the new guys make hay and headway when the NFL draft takes place. The top five selling jersey since the NFL draft in the NFL are Tim Tebow of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes, that Tim Tebow. I think it's number 85 18 or 85, or 86 preacher was a five um Tim Tebow in dark. I think Jacksonville got a black jersey with blue in it on Tim Tebow in the White Jaguar jersey top to selling jerseys. Both Tebow jerseys number one number two Tebow of Jacksonville, and that's a phenomenon unto itself the next three selling highest selling jerseys in the NFL. Justin Fields, his white Chicago Bears jersey. Justin Fields, his or in Chicago Bears jersey. And Justin Fields, his black Chicago Bears jersey. So places 34 and five and the top telling Georgie and the NFL are Justin Fields, Justin Fields and Justin Field, So they're buying into a big time in Chicago. You know, I'm buying into him. I don't know why guys like, uh, rich from Chicago. After checking and go all you rode that game, We got stored question. He didn't really played too well, just overlooking the unbelievable game. He had a couple of weeks later against Clinton in the national semifinal game. You don't wanna acknowledge that one I got beat up by Jeffrey couldn't beat out Jeff from in Georgia. Well, Jeff on finish up his collegiate career. He was drafted last year by the Buffalo Bills. The bills, of course, have their quarterback, which means Jeff from isn't going to be able to get on the field any time soon, But they they felt so strongly about Jeff from Is there back up? That the bills went out and signed Kyle Uh, Mitch Torbinski this offseason actually be the backup in Buffalo. So maybe Georgia just made a mist Ake in sticking with care from he was the established doobie and peels couldn't beat him out and field settle. Yeah, I'll take my act somewhere else, and it went to Ohio State and got him in the playoffs two years running. I think that kind of getting the job done for controversial, But there are some haters out there who just always want to paint. What's wrong rather than what's actually right. I don't get it with Justin peeled I, James, Pennsylvania is not gonna help us. Close out the hour. How are you? Day games? Morning. How are your duty? Good buddy. What's on your mind? Urban Meyer Envisions Utilizing Tim Tebow in Taysom Hill-Like Role
"Got tim t we got. We got number one. Pick in the draft playing quarterback. We got a team. That was one in fifteen a year ago. And now we're bringing it in ten tibo to run a taste him hill style package. Chris canty what do you think of that. I don't like it g. I gotta be honest with you. I mean we've seen him he'll be able to do a lot of things in the nfl. You can throw it can catch. We hadn't seen him to be able to do that at a high level at least not enough to warrant him being able to make a return after a six year absence from the sport so i just think it's a long shot in terms of being a contributor on the field with the jacksonville jaguars and if he's not going to be somebody that's a productive player. I don't think it's worth the distraction again. This is another one of those moves. This offseason got a lot of those guys in that. Jacksonville jaguars locker room looking at herbert. Is Urban Meyer Taking a Gamble With Tebow?
"The biggest story in the nfl right now. is tim. Tebow and the jacksonville. Jaguars on friday afternoon. The jaguars sign boat to a one year. Nine hundred fifty thousand dollar minimum deal as a tight end. His jersey makes up the top five selling items on the nfl shop dot com store. Now figure that out and to me urban meyer's really running the risk of losing his locker room here because if you talk to people inside the league if you talk to executives and other coaches there's a lot of genuine skepticism over urban meyer becoming. Nfl head coach generally. And there's a sense that it's four more likely that he flames out and never wins a playoff game than it is that he winds up winning a super bowl when this experiment bringing in tim tebow not necessarily even as a quarterback you have trevor lawrence. They're bringing tim tebow into that locker room in two thousand and twenty one and having him sing for his supper is a tight end. There's a belief that meyer runs the chance inside the league of losing his locker room before this season even begins

"I didn't want to do it today. I didn't think I was going to do it today. All right. Maybe I knew I was going to do it today, but I didn't necessarily have to do it today. That makes sense. Tim Tebow. Because urban Meyer spoke again yesterday about him and you know before that had been a least a couple of days before it had been really talked about or he actually spoke about it. And let me just say this going to begin with because I'm gonna I'm gonna take people off today with that. I know if you're Tebow supporter, but I like I I've nothing against Tim Tebow. I thought it was It was pretty cool that he wants to play my league baseball and we started off in single and he made it up to Triple A And ultimately what knew he wasn't gonna make the majors or said Hey, listen, let me pivot back to football because urban Meyer got hired Um But like I don't have anything against him to bow. I wasn't a Tebow lover back when he had that brief run of success with the Broncos. I grew tired of him. I grew tired of the circus. That surrounded him. I grew tired. Tired of him with the take. Let me take my shirt off and run wind sprints. While I know the media is watching and taking pictures and video taping it. I drew very tired of him when he came to the Philadelphia Eagles, my home team and tried to make the team right there and brought an entourage with him Toe the Eagles practice facility and really, like, kind of came in as a guy that was a star player, and he was a star player, not on the field. Not in the NFL. Right? So you go eight years later hasn't played a snap since 2000 and eight and he's back and I have to ask why I do and I have to believe And I'm not going to say that. Oh, I'm gonna I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna really get out raised until the Jags actually sign them because if the Jags don't sign them, then this whole conversation becomes moot. So let's have it right now. But I have a hard time believing that urban Meyer Will sign Sim Tebow, based on All the information that we have based on the fact that this is the NFL and this is not college, but at the same time I don't have confidence. Urban Meyer is not going to be that guy. Because this isn't Rudy. This isn't a Disney movie, and there's a college. All right, Tim Tebow is an urban Meyer guy. I get it, I get it. But it makes no sense and it brings no benefit to the team. You're bringing in a polarizing figure that, by the way, can't play. He couldn't play 10 years ago. Now he's switching positions that by the way he didn't want to do before because he was a quarterback. And he didn't want to work on his craft of being a quarterback so he wouldn't go to the sea of felony wouldn't go to the Arena Football League. He just went to baseball after a little bit of time. So now I'm supposed to believe that a guy that couldn't play before can play now. It's a distraction, and it's a distraction that isn't worth it. It's not worth it. And there were reportedly coaches that realize it's a distraction. I don't want him there on that staff. There will be players who ask. Why is that dude here? That is going to create division in the locker room. You know what's the likelihood that it works that he makes the team that you had something that the team on the field and it's like, Wow. Like Tim Tebow should have done this eight years ago. Wow, look at the kind of player he is. What is it about? 0.1% that that actually happens, right? You're bringing in a guy that has no upside, sent a young player. This isn't a guy that's 26. Okay. Maybe he can transform himself into being in a Chewbacca tight end or something like that. Right. You're creating a divide in the organization for a third tight end at best, a try hard. He's going to try hard. He's gonna work hard. I know that he works hard. I know that he'll try to work harder than everybody else. But this isn't Rudy. This is the NFL. This is supposed to be about changing the culture of the Jacksonville Jaguars. They have a legit franchise quarterback the best prospect to come out of quarterback since Andrew Luck right, such celebrate the transformation of the franchise. Don't try to be a Disney movie. I've seen some people say well, so no braver freighter for the Jags. They can sell Tim Tebow jerseys and make a lot of money, man. That's that. That is minor League B s. Minor league Bs that the justification of possibly torpedoing your team is for pennies on the dollar, Nickels and dimes. Cities millionaires. This isn't meeting you. These are millionaires. This is pocket change jerseys like he's a billion dollar franchise is and we're talking about a CIA a season or a preseason of Tim Tebow jerseys. And by the way, are they really waiting to release their quarterback? Because they want they want that 15. Right guard, um, inches 15. He's still on the team. Think I've been trying to trade him? No one's biting, are they now We're just waiting and they're gonna release him. So Tim Tebow can get his 15 thistles supposed to be about About legitimizing your franchise. This is supposed to be about urban Meyer coming in and building a championship football team. That's it. That's what it's supposed to be about. But instead and you may say, Well, it's just during your in the media. You're the ones doing this. Sim to Bo knows Damn Well what he's doing when he comes back. This is followed him everywhere he went. He ate it up in New York and just by coming back. He knows that this is going to follow him. He knows that right? Because he because here's the deal, All right. Here's the deal with Tim Tebow. And I'm not gonna let Urban Meyer off the hook because he's a big boy, and he could barely easily say no to Tim Tebow. But Tim Tebow selfish. He has no self awareness. You're 33 years old. Your time has come and gone. It's like it's over with. It's over with, Okay. Like I get it. You're coming back. You wanna work hard? And you want to be a tight end now in the NFL, So you can you know they can carry you off the field after you make it. That was really sorry. That's what he wants to be like that. He's selfish. He's selfish. Dude, your time is your time has come and gone. You gave it a shot. You don't want to give it a more of a shot 10 years ago, then you try to play baseball. Right. You're not doing the Jacksonville Jaguars or your old head coach. Any good? You're not doing him any good, right? Because guess.

"This is austin lane. He's a former. Nfl tight end the host of action. Sports jacks on. Espn radio he was joining. He was joining freddie and fitzsimmons about whether tibo is going to be jacksonville simply for his leadership. The whole narrative that tim tibo coming to jacksonville. Be an urban meyer guy and helping that locker room presence. i think it's baloney. I'm not buying into that narrative because what what guys look for in terms of leadership and guys buy into his guys that have had except you know leaders guys that you can say this guy the baller. I gotta follow him and watch. How does now. I've talked to many times. Tim is a fantastic guy. But i think the whole narrative of you're going to bring him in because he's a great locker room guys all right. Great there's there's tons of great locker got. There's tons of great teammates just like any locker. Rooms made up of all types of people. So i'm not buying that austin lane also talked about. What exactly will tibo be doing assuming. He makes the team the whole narrative. That tim tebow coming to jackson i understand that he knows urban meyer. They have a great relationship. I guess you know. Urban meyer bought a house. experts week. Sent tibo so even if he makes the team. That's going to be great e hollywood. Tv show Urban meyer tim hero next door. It's gonna be fantastic. It's gonna do all the rating. But i do think this. This is urban meyer first year and then i saw and you know he's bringing his guys in. I understand all that. But what earn myers gotta realize. Real quick is that. You can't take anything if tim people is going to make. This team is because tim tebow has earned a spot. There are no you know there is no. I like this guy lot. Let's give him a spot. That doesn't work like that players not locking them. We'll see through that day one so two hundred two things are going to happen either. Tim tebow is not the tight end which we don't think he is and i'll be honest. I'm kind of in that boat or tim. Tebow is a tight end. And he earns his spot and he gets that roster spot and that's it was not good enough during the roster spot. He's not gonna get it. Because of urban meyer gives him that spot. He's gonna lose that locker room in a heartbeat.

"34 years old when this football season of the professional variety commences. Has been signed by the Jacksonville JAG wires. Tim Tebow a, uh Figurative and to a certain extent, literal deity in Florida. It's Tebow time and no one asked for it. Hey, uh, do you signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars to play quarterback now? They have won and we salt him to play quarterback. He's not good at it. Tim Tebow will for the first time in his football career. Play. Tight end The Jacksonville Jaguars. That is his point. Incentive. Tim Tebow right now it'll be 34 years old when the season starts. Wow. Start hey, has tried to play quarterback in the probes that didn't work. He tried to play minor league baseball that didn't work. I was going to try and play tight end something he's never done. In college. Florida and in the pros. Good luck, man. Good luck that Yeah, I want to hit on a young boy's dream. Yes, I do. But I'm not the time. Mack Jones. We fired up. He's a big Tebow guy. Well, you know, it's funny, I what it isn't. Tebow wouldn't be at the shortest tight end. I thought it would be like 61 and change some like that. You should tied into like 65. That table was taller and that he might be torn that I thought he was like 65, but I'll check you Could be you know what? Rookie tight ends are definitely not 34 years old. But okay, all right, All right. Good. Looking at the Jags Tighten the depth chart. It's pretty bare a tight end. My goodness, They don't have a single guy that you're like. Whoa, Yeah, they got that guy. You know, I saw you carrying the ball every time of Florida. The one maybe I think you're Michael start. Broke. See Bo's heart when you hear dead because I only want to do is play real quarterback like Pinocchio wanted to be a real boy. And for Jon Gruden supposed quarterback guru to tell you, Tim Tebow Coming out of Florida winning the Heisman Trophy that you're more full back then. Quarterback I bet you he cried himself to sleep at night when he heard that Tim Tebow 63. 63. Alright, Well, come on there we get it, man is two inches so much. Yeah. Uh, good luck. Good luck to him. You know this guy? I'll say this. The guy plenty tough. He just He didn't have an NFL arm as far as any kind of downfield accuracy. He gave it a try. Heck did he want a playoff game, didn't he? Mm. So I'm going to beat the Steelers. Yeah. Hard to believe, but he did it. Yeah, I think I look, I think if you were younger He would absolutely make it. I just think he's 34. He's as well. I mean, well, yeah, that's a given. And I still think that I still think you'll be. I still think you'd be on the team and I Look, I think he is one of the one of the greatest college football players. Of all time. I mean, he was He was dynamite. I'll give you absolutely as a collegiate. Yeah, He just couldn't play quarterback in the NFL. But I think if he wanted to tight end like right after his failed quarterbacking experiment, I think he would have been a really good tight end. I mean, he's got I'm guessing maybe he probably is pretty good hands. Hey, just seemed like a football player who happened to play quarterback. He wasn't really a quarterback. He was more of Ah, you know, football player that happened to be little played quarterback in college. But I just you look at him and I I just thought you know what that guy could probably get it done. He's fast. He's big, you physical in the block. Physical with enough I don't know, but I know you don't know He's not feels going to approve it. Otherwise he is not physical with love to see that it's still t B A S t D to be determined. I hold that go with it out, but he was a failure as a baseball player with an F Your failure with the PH time. I'd like to see how many how many dollars the Mets made on him on his back with with merchandise. No reports. Port ST Lucie, I bet you you sure justified the decision to run him out there even though they're guys who are much more deserving. Of that opportunity. By the way, Tim Tebow is not played a snap it in NFL game since 2012. So I question to you. Gentlemen. What's more problematic for TV Tebow In fact, he's going to be 35 34 Pardon me when the season starts, or the fact that he hasn't hit a football field Since 2012 9 years ago. He's fresh. Okay. All right. Ease with an adage is first with his fresh within F. Yeah, That is true is the work here is the worst part even though they said he's gonna play tight end. First game. They had to release JJ Watt this week. They got exactly nothing in exchange for the best player in the history of the organization very to on all points. But you can make a case for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Because David bad a couple of years in a row. Now they play more games across the pond in Europe than anyone else because they can't get fans to come to their games. This year didn't matter because the NFL like so few fans in the game three game where, anyway No European games at all with the covert seasoning add, But don't forget that we were just a couple of Ah, year and change removed from the Jacksonville Jags playing home games. All people I do is go to the Wikipedia page and find out that this was a bad guy and a bad hire Chris Doyle. He resigns 24 hours into his new job, which means he didn't resign. He was fired. Do you draft him, and then he turned around and trade him. Had not even thought about that. Yes, the Jaguar bed organization, but the bad organizations get the first pick in the draft. That's how it works. But now they've added an extra black eye with a new head coach has never coached before the National Football League, and he's already got himself in hot water in the town and oh, by the way. It's a bad place to play football. Can't sell out games. Now, depending on your attitude, you could take it as a town to say, I'm the one who's going to get them to sell it. Everything game and Jack and Bill or you can have somebody whispering in your ear telling you this is not good for trouble. Lawrence's brand We want you playing in a major market for a team that's gonna be competing for the playoffs every single year. Maybe we should flex our muscles here and say that you'd be a potential. Hold out if you drafted maybe wouldn't play and I hadn't even thought along those lines. But maybe Jimmy Key's on to something. You know why Jimmy thinking along those lines and why I'm buying into it? Because if you're the jet, you could just offer toe move up from number two to number one. Now a Jacksonville states, basically right at the top of the draft. They get the second best player in the draft of trouble. Lawrence is the best player in the draft. Plus, you get added draft capital. That's not outrageous. This is a drama. I'm a beat over the next couple of weeks to see how badly things are going in Jacksonville's All right, Let me get a couple calls in here before I exit states. Left dug in Sacramento's up on CBS portrayed 08 Doug Hi, Jody. I want to talk with you. You first time Caller. Excellent. Excellent program. You're You're the best. Um, I, uh, caught a little bit of the, uh, the, um Show earlier. You were talking about the AIDS and I was just talking to your call. Screener Any set me straight. I've forgotten about Marcus Simi and I wanted to bring Simi enough. I dub thee just got rid of Chris Davis and they traded Or Elvis Andrus from the right place of Simeon. Right? Right, Right. Right and your screen or I'd forgotten. I was thinking they traded him to Toronto. He signed As a free agent. But anyway, getting back to your Synopsis of the A's I agree with you. I think they're downgrading the AIDS a little bit, but I can see The eighth, dropping off because Sim, it's simian struggled a little bit and in 20 like a lot of guys, you know, with the shortened season, but he just the heart and soul at least in my opinion of the team. A couple of years ago, he was an M V P candidate. Just had a great year, and I think they're really going to miss him. And I think that's one of the reasons. Well, I, um you know, the You know, downgrading the AIDS a little bit. The experts I think they're going to win more than 80. But I was curious What you you had left out the angels, and I think they've got a pretty powerful lineup They brought in foul auras. Well, what do you think? Do you think about their chances? Just add a curiosity. I think they're a team that could come contend for wild card. I don't know if they're gonna win the division, but I think upgraded some they still haven't done enough for me with their rotation. That's why I like Oakland. Montas. I like Lazard. Oh, I love manias solid bass. It's not bad. Feared fires is a good five. That's a pretty darn good road taken. It's the best rotation in that division as a better rotation and the Astros have with no Verlander next year. Definitely, so I think that's underselling them. When you got Olson and Chapman into corners, you got productive players on both sides. I'm a con hop fan Who's going to get.

Jacksonville Jaguars split with accused racist strength coach Chris Doyle
"Urban Meyer announced the very controversial hiring of former Iowa strength coach Chris Doyle. Team announced last night that Doyle had resigned. In a statement, Meyer said Doyle's decision to step down came from his desire to not be a distraction to the franchise. Doyle left Iowa last summer after allegations of bullying and making racist remarks towards his players. He's denied the unethical behavior of bias, and he left Iowa with a $1 million separation agreement. He's no longer with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wizards losers last night to the

"Higher already 855 to 1 to 4 to 27855 to 1 to 4 to 27 at Robin Lundberg on Twitter. That's R O B I n l U n D p R G again Chris Doyle has resigned from his position. He had it for a couple of days. Director of sports performance for the Jacksonville Jaguars. And We'll see. You know where his career Takes him but again, like in this case, it's not one of you know, I'm not crying for him. Given the separation agreement you got from Iowa and given how fresh these these allegations are. We're not talking about something that people dug up from his past a long time ago. You know, we're not talking about somebody finding an old tweet or or or something like that we're talking about, you know, a program that had accusations against it over a prolonged period of time. And you know where these were just recently. Came to came to a head. These things just recently came to a head and again he got, you know he was the highest paid guy at his position, and he got a $1.1 million buyout sort of sort of deal. From Iowa. Then to me, this is you know, this is an urban Meyer story now. If it is still a story. We'll see. You know how long It sticks to the mire regime in Jacksonville. But the Jaguars could have, you know, go on the off season without this, and instead before he's even made his head coaching debut. In the NFL. Urban Meyer is dealing with the controversy 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. I mean, given his his history sort of knew it was coming. Jaguars' Hiring of Chris Doyle Called 'Unacceptable' by Fritz Pollard Alliance
"Pollard alliance criticized the Jacksonville Jaguars and head coach Urban Meyer for hiring Chris Doyle is the team's new strength and conditioning coach, calling it unacceptable. After he was dismissed by the University of I will last year amid accusations of belittling and bullying black players Buyer had defended the higher to reporters on Thursday. I've known Chris for close to 20 years, our relationship goes back to when I was a Utah and he was the number one strength coach for its power lines is an organization devoted to championing diversity in the NFL. That is precisely the reason there is such a disparity in employment opportunities for black

"Me on instagram for my giveaways, which are related to this, So that's gonna be pretty good. Some toaster giveaways for the D aliens next week in honor of the Netflix the crew Syriza's So There was a higher yesterday, which should always be completely off the radar, and nobody knows anything about the person hired. It is. An ex college strength coach. Who is going to join the Jacksonville Jaguars under Urban Meyer. Yeah. Now this is Chris Doyle. And he is going to be the Jaguars director of sports performance. This is Doyle's first job since June. When he was ousted in Iowa. Because of multiple players, claiming that he was abusive and door made racist remarks. He had been the nation's highest paid strength coach under Kirk Ference and Iowa. I don't know. Chris Doyle. I don't know if he's racist. I don't know his personal beliefs. Find it to be at the very least concerning that multiple players over multiple years claimed this. I think of it to one disgruntled player, okay? To disgruntled players, but to have a serious of multiple players make these allegations that either he was abusive or had made racist remarks that's concerned. But again, I don't know. Don't know him. Can't though quite understand why Urban Meyer. Feels the need to hire this guy. It's your strength coach. You're going to tell me there's not other strength coaches out there. That are either as good or maybe. Almost as good the provide no controversy right now. That would provide no negative speculation. That would provide no questions from your players about what happened at this guy's last stop. You know, all of the players that you have on that roster, played in college football and have friends in college football, and many of them will probably have a friend who played at Iowa or a friend of a friend or a current teammate of the NFL or a former teammate or sharing agent with I mean, the connections are obvious. When you get to the NFL that somebody knows everybody and everybody knows somebody. I don't understand why you would invite this type of scrutiny. For a strength coach. It's one thing when you are a college football program. I'm not saying it's right or college basketball program. But you hire a guy that left his last job in disgrace and see double a probation. Cheating Pang recruits would have you because you think he is our ticket to winning, and we have to win or else we're all out of a job. This happens all the time. A guy like Rick Pitino can always find a job, no matter how disgraced he is, because look, I only want to win a tournament bid, too. And they think that Rick Pitino is that guy. Happens all the time. But why would a strength coach I need do we think the Jaguars are a strength and conditioning coach away from winning? Let's just say hypothetically, this is how I would approach this if I was urban Meyer. Got Chris Doyle. He's a 10. He's an absolute 10 and strength and conditioning coach and I feel like he was Maybe unfairly pushed out at Iowa. But I got a nine strength and conditioning coach here. Right? Pick your school. Oklahoma State. Why would you hire Chris Doyle? It a 10. If you can get a nine, a shrinking condition because you can't imagine anybody thinks. Well, if we have a tenant strength and conditioning, then we'll win the A F C South. All of these guys have their own trainers. All of these guys have their own off season workouts. I'm not saying strength and conditioning coaches don't have some type of role or some type of importance, but there's just no reason. To hire the controversial one. There's one strength and conditioning coach anybody's heard of. It's this guy wife, father. I mean, if you feel like you are the redemption train You're doing the Knicks saving thing. Disgraced fired coaches. You bring them in his O. C. They succeed. It's Alabama. It's Alabama and you've won championships and nobody questions the process and you have five star recruits all over the place. And you just put the next cog in the engine and okay, the rehabilitation center in Tuscaloosa is doing a great job for all of these broken coaches, but in Jacksonville Urban Meyer's nothing yet. Hasn't done anything. I just don't understand why you would invite this scrutiny over a strength coach. Strength coach. If this was the head coach, and you're like, Look, we gotta hold our nose and hire this guy hoping that he delivers us some type of big time. Wind like a Hugh freeze higher. All right. But the strength coach, you're willing to invite controversy over I don't get it. I wouldn't do it. The next guy that nobody's ever heard of. Standing by their headlines this morning is a kind, sir Andrew Bogus, Mr Boggs. Good morning. D A good morning. We're about to get our first look at Trevor Laurence in a while. The assumes number one pick will throw and be measured before having left shoulder surgery. He'll be fine for training camp. Following that The Jaguars have already tweeted a photo of urban Meyer in company of boarding a flight to South Carolina. Six other teams with top 10 picks expected in attendance. Maybe as many as 17 teams represented in total today. Meanwhile, the Pouncey brothers Yeah, exactly. I mean, why did the Jets even send somebody at number two? He's not gonna be there at number two, either. I mean, I can understand anybody in the top four never know what's gonna happen. But 17 teams are gonna watch Trevor Laurence. This isn't the full clumps in pro day that's just seems like an entirely waste of travel. Unless is there 16 other teams that feel like hey, we would be willing to trade up for whatever it costs to try to get him. Even if that's the case, Do you need a coast? Look at Trevor Laurence to know that you're going to trade up for him. Yeah, Probably not like what's he gonna show in a pro day where you're like, OK, now we're sold on it right? Like my guess is if you're willing to trade up and mortgage everything you've already seen enough, I don't know. It just seems this seems like such a waste of a practice here. Yeah, and he's throwing toe one wide receiver That is of note Got that could be like a middle round pick. So you maybe you're getting a free sneak peek at him, But ive again He's a third or fourth round pick at the moment, so Don't only need to steal a glance. I wonder. Do you think that there's just a certain travel budget that these teams have to hit? And I say this seriously, you know, sometimes in corporate America like you have allocated. Let's just hypothetically safer around number a million dollars in travel every single year, and you use that for your tax purposes. You just have to hit it. It's so it's like, Hey, we've got a hit like 12 pro days or whatever, 13 pro days 25 pro days. Whatever. This is just gonna be one of our pro days or He's the number one prospect. If we don't show up, we look like we don't do our jobs. I think there's that I think maybe you like do you always to Clemson to go like so Clemson doesn't look like only one team showed up. Do you go is like a convention so you can watch everyone back and talk to the team next to me in person for the first time in a while, maybe some something else comes. Relationship buildings conversation. There's coaches there that you talk, too. It's not just watching forever, Lord, she actually get some source material on other Clemson, you know, players, but again, Clemson's gonna have another pro day with everybody else They're sending. This is a specific Trevor Laurence Pro Day. So wouldn't you get all of that? Just going there Less like the ace enters a budget thing. You're gonna hit clubs in twice. All right. It just seems like a very wasted practice to meet a waste of money. Hmm. The Pouncey Brothers just announced their retirement jointly from the NFL marquees was a Steeler Mike, most recently a charge of the combined for 13 Pro Bowls. This announcement might be why Big Ben and Marquis Static. Remember in tears after the playoff loss last month. Maybe they knew what was coming for the Steelers Long time center. 40 more points. 10 more three pointers for Steph Curry. Last night his Warriors beat the Magic 1 11 105. Curry asked Post game If this is as good as he's ever played. In terms of what has happened in the past like I was, you know, the levels have been in our team's been it and where we're trying to go as a team, but definitely in terms of how I'm playing.

"Write those hires yet, and sometimes these rankings they usually pointless. Because I am improvement. Doug Peterson was. Hyde is the head coach of the Eagles. Most unqualified coaching Hirable Dodd from Mike Lombardi, and everyone had in their as Let's say there was five coaches hide that you don't remember. Everyone had him last. I won a Super Bowl. So I know he's no longer head coach. Now, when people look back at that differently, guy did win a Super Bowl. I don't think that was the most unqualified higher than I've ever seen. I think that's very safe to say. So here. The candidates of guys that that got hired the seven and we gotta rank and one through seven year Robert Staal, author Smith Solid Goes, The Jets are, too Smith goes the Falcons Dan Campbell. Like to meet Cap off. He goes to the Detroit Lines are admired to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Syriani who's going to be introduced tomorrow to the Philadelphia media. We'll see how that goes. I saw some videos. That's a little bit weird. They have Ah, swoop to that is that is that swoop the Eagles mascot be the one that greeted him coming off the private plane. Can you imagine they all, said the general manager, Howie Roseman. But can you imagine Nick Syriani Man finally get NFL? Cool? Maybe not. Finally. I don't think he was thinking he was getting anyone anytime soon. But let's just play far even say, Man. I could've had a head coaching job. Here we go. I'm getting off the plane. First person I see a needle. No, not an eagle flying in the sky, but I see the Eagles mascot swoop. My employer greeted me with the mascot. When I'm getting introduced as the new head coach? Yeah, I would say guys, come on. It's pretty rough, right? You get off the plane Trace and you see the mascot. I kind of like a you know, you know, Sweep is a pretty good NFL mascot. There's not many bad mascot, but that gives you college fields. Well, that gives you college vibes. What do you have a band playing next? When the coach always gets introduced and the media press conference room. We need the mascot there. Yes. You know what? Let's do this. Has a lot of problems that go on in our world right now. I don't think I need to be bitching about the best. Come on. That's impossible. Well, gonna fill your swoop. I'd rather take a cheese steak. Quite frankly. Go get me a mama's cheese steak. All right, swoop, Go fly and get me a mama's cheese steak. So you got Nick Syriani going to the Philadelphia Eagles? Dave Cully going to the Texans, and then Brandon Staley going to the Chargers? You had some surprise hirings. Looking back at this. Solid was projected to get a job. Arthur Smith protected to get a job, Urban Meyer once the Jaguars rumors were out there. We all thought that was gonna happen. Who would have ever thought, though, that Brian Day Bone Eric, the enemy both wouldn't have got jobs and now we both would They have got jobs, But other guys that cut jobs were Dan Campbell, Brandon Staley, Dave Cully and Nick Syriani. Huh? The world we live in in Now before our coaching carousel happened, I said, I wonder what's going to be the one surprise thing who's gonna be the name that we leave off? Because I've done that before. I've done those mock draft. You bring on beat writers from every city and then someone doesn't go in the top 10 and you basically just slam your head into a microphone because you go while people are gonna torch this. When we dinner coaching Carousel, Brian Table Was actually I picked by any of the candidates. So Brian table didn't get a job. Eric, the enemy was picked. He didn't get a job. No one even mentioned Dan Campbell, these all experts that cover the teams in their city. No one mentioned Dave Cully. I don't think anyone even knew Nick Syriani Woz. Britain's daily was talked about that he would get interviews with probably wouldn't get a head coaching job this year, probably to wait another year to On presents daily Got job. Dave Cooley got a job. Nick Syriani got a job and Dan Your kneecap off Campbell got a job, So let's rank these one through seven. Very rarely are the Jets number one Unless of it's like the number one pick in the draft or the worst team in the A. M. C s. I think the Jets made the best tire and Robert Sal He's the CEO of a program. He's a leader what they needed. And I love his personality and what I like the most about solid. You have all these hotshot offensive coordinators on these hotshot defensive coordinator's Robert Solace that I'm gonna hire a defensive coordinator gonna oversee the team. So I like the Robert salad picked by the Jets. That's number one. Two. I'm gonna go Urban Meyer with the Jaguars. Urban Meyer is getting full control that organization that had the head coach first. Then they've got the G M. Trent Baalke. They ain't in the GM. But for Urban Meyer, we all know his greatness in college doesn't necessarily translate to the NFL. I do like though that situation in Jacksonville. You got some names on the offense side the ball DJ shark. You got the viscous should melt. You also got Robinson the running back and you gonna get Trevor Laurence to patch up that offensive line..

"And the Ravens is going it is 10 minutes. Left in the first quarter. Baltimore is putting together one of those Baltimore drives. If you watch the Ravens, you know exactly what I'm talking about Their running the zone read. They're running the ball very effectively moving down the field against Buffalo. It's 00. It's still super early in the game. Baltimore does have that does have a decision to make. North and one on the Buffalo 31. I'll keep you up today. On that game. If you missed it, Green Bay advanced in the postseason. They won 32 to 18 over the Los Angeles Rams will go to the phone lines here in a little bit 855 to 124227. Think Urban Meyer is a great coach. I don't want anyone to hear my criticism of urban Meyer taking the Jacksonville job as one that I don't think urban can coach Urban can obviously coach And that's not just the old Well, you wanted Ohio State and you want it. Florida He wanted bowling green he won at Utah, like Urban Meyer is one of the greatest college coaches in the history of the sport. He coached at bowling Green for two years. They went 17 and six He coached it Utah for two years. They lost two games and one in the Fiesta Bowl. He even went to Florida and put together one of the best dynasties and the last 30 years of the sport. And then went to Ohio State and the Big 10. It had 1.5 national champion since 1969. And added another one. So the big tent So No question or American coach. My complaints for urban Would be this. There's a learning curve. I'm sorry. If you're going to be in college as long as he was and then make the jump to the NFL. There's going to be some things that you don't know in the first year. You're gonna have to catch up to where everybody else is. Also due to his health. History. Is he a guy that you can guarantee is going to be here for the second contract. Trevor Lorne's Because of Lawrence's what the pundits and the experts and the scouts tell me he's going to be. That's a quarterback that you think you're gonna have a chance to win Super Bowls with and I say Super bowls as in plural. Do you want a coaching change? Just when you think he started ahead, his groove and really starting to hit his stride at age 24 25 years old, I wouldn't hire Urban Meyer. I think this was the owner. Wanting to go out and make a statement. Hey, this is a new day for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Look, we got urban Meyer. Become coach. We got Trevor Laurence. This felt like a moved to me. That is a little bit more sizzle than substance. At the NFL level. I wouldn't want a different direction. I would have hired one of the offensive minded coaches and I would have really looked between Arthur Smith. Who got the Falcons job. Brian Table Who's the offensive coordinator for Buffalo? Who I think's going to get the Jack. I think I think Brian Table is going to get the Chargers job. Once Buffalo season's over. I think they're going to hire Brian Table. Would have hired a guy who I think Can be Andy Reid. To Trevor Lawrence's Patrick Mahomes be the Sean Payton to Trevor Lawrence's Drew Brees. And I'm thinking of the next 10 to 12 years. And swinging absolutely big for a guy I know can get the most out of this player. That's what I would have done. I'm also not the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. She's not the move I would have made. We'll see how the urban Meyer experience works. They're getting a quarterback next year, and they have $70 million in cap space. So Jacksonville can get really good, really fast in a hurry. It's gonna be interesting. Jacksonville's going to be on Sunday night football on Monday night football and they're going to be a team that we're gonna have our island because they're gonna have a lot of story lines this year. It's going pharmacy up, plays out. Let's go to the phone lines 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Adam is in Jacksonville going, Adam. Hey, I just want to call and I know you were saying about urban. Um, I know you have your apprehension about this guy, but In my mind. I think this is a great higher for our team. Our franchise, our city. And to make it a simplistic It's possible that we've been hearing this here locally is Some people, you know, kind of said Well, how are you gonna do transition to the NFL? You said it yourself. And Covered players say this goes there is football at the end of the day, bro. It's football, his adjustments from college to NFL and what are you talking about? Hash line or overtime versus college. I think that he is a visionary when it comes to offense of schemes and what will be able to Internet I think he is a leader of men. We have one of the youngest rosters. In the NFL, and I'm just looking forward it for him to come in there and make his imprint on it. I'm not so much concerned about his health. I'm not so much concerned about what his contract situation is. Just one of the big move for us, and I honestly think that this is just gonna do nothing but increase is like our our our chances of winning coming in the next few seasons. I appreciate the phone call Adam, I I certainly understand the optimism like.

"We've been talking about the NFL divisional round of the playoffs, obviously, appropriately enough, given that it is a big weekend for football at 855212. 4 to 27 you could weigh in. We also discussed James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets trade. The biggest news in sports this week at 855 to 124327, but also big news was the hiring of urban Meyer. By the Jacksonville Jaguars and I'm joined now to discuss that by JP shattering senior reporter radio Digital host for the Jaguars on JP. I guess that the first simple question is just the reaction. What has been the reception? To the Urban Meyer hiring in Jacksonville. I think it has been overwhelmingly warm, very, very happy for a lot of the Jaguar fans here. I will say this Robin and first off Thanks for having me by the way. Good morning. Um The phone. The phones have been ringing Jaguar Central off the hook in the last two days. The response in terms of ticket sales is massive. And from what I understand the Lower bowl season tickets will be gone very soon. So that's just Will you ever Meyer news? And then everything that you know. Since the number one overall overall pick has been secured as well. But in the last two days, the volume has really gone up so you can tell right away with numbers that are coming into that ticket office. This is a positive move, at least for the majority of the Jaguar sand, bass and It's good. The spring shows needing problem and then they needed Shot in the arm. This this thing was rock bottom, to be quite honest, 15 straight losses. No real hope of getting winds. Nothing on the field to really hang your hat on. And no direction. There was no there was nothing. There was no compass was those you know, North Star and this is that so everybody's fired up here. So the ticket sales how much of that? Do you attribute T Trevor Laurence in the expectation of watching him play? And how much is that, like, you know, familiarity with Meyer because the coach Florida or something like that. I think it's there's a little bit large stuff, but I think more of it The last two days is really when the volume picked up when they knew they heard about Meyer. I don't know if you know this. Yes, Jacksonville's a big College football town. Let's not hide that. Yes, Florida's University of Florida's 80 miles down the road. Tallahassee's too well depends on how fast you drive two hours 2.5 hours away from here. On Ben. Georgia has a huge base of alumni here as well. So, um I think But when? When the Jaguars air good, robin This is a Jaguar's town. So let's not hide that. Yes, there Florida people have Jaguars tickets and all that stuff. But when the Jaguars are hot The Jaguars dominate Jacksonville and another strange from people on the outside to kind of figure out because you think of all the you know cocktail parties and the And the Gator Bowl and all that stuff. But this is that time like this is this is the time of the Jaguars Get good again. The ratings for the Jaguars here are through the roof and much higher than any Florida Florida state. Georgia football game on television here, and people just want the Jags to be good again and there are there are Jaguars fans don't Don't let don't let that Julia About the college stuff. You're starting to see that in the last week or so. Robin Lundberg, talking with JP Shad Rick is senior reporter radio digital host for the Jaguars here on CBS Sports Radio. Now when there's a urban Meyer type of hiring a coach of his caliber from the the college ranks, the natural comparison is also in Florida a little further away, but Nick Saban With the Miami Dolphins. What do you think is different about Mayer? Or do you think or, you know, have concerns about him being one of those examples of a college coach who was not the same at the pro level. I think for urban at least what he said the other night to me on the interview with good in the team's sight, he This was the perfect It was perfect for him. It had to be a perfect opportunity across the board. And what I mean by that is Everything that goes into this. Jaguar is opening right? One of the biggest cat spaces in the league this year in the off season in free agency, the number one overall pick was huge. You said that in the press conference the other day, and all the draft declaration was, too has And the opportunity to really have a clean slate. And there's not, you know, income the quarterback here really, truly. There's not a lot else really in terms of the personnel is a few stars on offense. Couple guys on defense other than that. It is almost a clean slate, and he can build this organization in his likeness, and that's what it took to get him up. Now you go back to the old days saving in Miami. They were trying to get the quarterback. They didn't have the number one pick. They didn't have all these other things to go with that. And they ended up not getting through. Breathe. Remember, right, and I think saving it at some point. It said that too Well for here Early fire is going to get whatever quarterback he Field, and he said, it's the most important. Most important decision. He'll make it his last time, which is a pretty strong statement, but everything that's what it took for him. It had to be the perfect opportunity. It could be his his brand his place. It's a coach centric Football office, according to the owner, shot calm and they want to go back to that. So that's what that's why. I think this could be different because it is a total urban Meyer show yesterday higher GM but is the Urban Meyer Show here in Jacksonville? Yeah. You spoke to him? As you said, How would you? You know what was your perception? What word or words would you use to describe the vibe you got from him specifically as an individual. About the football team, or just in general, just in general. I mean, he's one of those guys. I think people you know, like they see him. They see the program is built out. But then you know the way they know there's been some controversies or flame out here. They're saying he's not going to return to coaching, Um, stuff like that. And then all the sudden he's coaching again. So there's a little bit of Ah, a preconceived notion. I think of urban Meyer. The people might have I think there's some a lot of folks might be a little, um Let's just say he's that sometimes you could come off is not the warmest of people, right? I mean, I'm fine, but But he is a successful driven Focused. The blinders were on and I'm trying to win football games person and that's fine. My God, I have no issues with that. I think, actually, I talked to her coach together. They to come yesterday. And who knows very well. Obviously. In all the years of ESPN and his connections with the highest statements and No. It. That might turn off a lot of people from the outside. But You know, that's true. That's his job, but he's trying to go out one games. "We've been talking about the NFL divisional round of the playoffs. Obviously appropriately enough. Given that it is a big weekend for football at 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 you could weigh in. We also discussed James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets trade. The biggest news in sports this week at 855 to 124327, but also big news was the hiring of urban Meyer. By the Jacksonville Jaguars. And I'm joined now to discuss that by JP Shad Rick senior reporter radio Digital host for the Jaguars on JP. I guess that the first simple question is just the reaction. What has been the reception? Who? The Urban Meyer hiring in Jacksonville. I think it has been overwhelmingly warm. Very, very happy for a lot of the Jaguar fans here. I will say this Robin, first off. Thanks for having me by the way. Good morning to you. Um The phone. The phones have been ringing a Jaguar central off the hook in the last two days. The response in terms of ticket sales is massive. And from what I understand the Lower bowl season tickets will be gone very soon. So that's just Will you ever Meyer news? And then everything that you know. Since the number one overall overall pick has been secured as well. But in the last two days, the volume has really gone up so he could tell right away with numbers that are coming into that ticket office. This is a positive move, at least for the majority of the Jaguar seven days and It's good. The spring shows needing problem and they needed Shot in the arm. Do you attribute Tomo Lawrence in the expectation of watching him play? And how much is that, like, you know, familiarity with Meyer because the coach Florida or something like that. I think it's z little Malard stuff, But I think more of it The last two days is really when the volume picked up when they knew they heard about Meyer. I don't know if you know this. Yes, Jacksonville's a big College football town. Let's not hide that. Yes, Florida's University of Florida's 80 miles down the road. Tallahassee's too well depends on how fast you drive two hours 2.5 hours away from here. On De Georges has a huge base of alumni here as well. So, um I think But when? When the Jaguars air good, robin This is a Jaguar's town. So let's not hide that. Yes, there Florida people have Jaguars tickets and all that stuff. But when the Jaguars are hot The Jaguars dominate Jacksonville and another strange from people on the outside to kind of figure out because you think of all the you know cocktail parties and the On the Gator Bowl in on stuff. But this is that time. This is this is the time the Jaguars get good again. The ratings for the Jaguars here are through the roof and much higher than any Florida Florida state. Georgia football game on television here and people just want the Jags to be good again and there are there are Jaguars fans. Don't Don't let don't let that fool you. About the college stuff. You're starting to see that in the last week or so. Robin Lundberg, talking with JP Shad Rick is senior reporter radio digital host for the Jaguars here on CBS Sports Radio. Now when there's a urban Meyer type of hiring a coach of his caliber from the the college ranks The natural comparison is also in Florida a little further away, but Nick Saban with the Miami Dolphins, What do you think is different about Mayer? Or do you think or You know, have concerns about him being one of those examples of a college coach who was not the same at the pro level. I think for urban at least what he said the other night to me on the interview with Team site, he This was the perfect It was perfect for him. It had to be a perfect opportunity across the board. And what I mean by that is Everything that goes into the stragglers opening right? One of the biggest cap space is in the league this year in the off season in free agency, the number one overall pick was huge. You said that in the press conference the other day, and all the draft declaration was, too has And the opportunity to really have a clean slate. And there's not, you know, incumbent quarterback here really, truly. There's not a lot else really in terms of the personnel is a few stars on offense, A couple guys on defense other than that. It is almost a clean slate, and he can build this organization in his likeness, and that's what it took to get him up. Now you go back to the old days saving in Miami. They were trying to get the quarterback didn't have a number one pick. They didn't have all these other things to go with that. And they ended up not getting through. Breathe. Remember, right, and I think saving it at some point. It said that too Well for here, every buyer is going to get whatever quarterback he Feel when he says the most important Most important decision. He'll make it his last time, which is a pretty strong statement, but everything that's what it took for him. It had to be the perfect opportunity. It could be his his brand his place. It's a coach centric football office according to be honest, shot con on and they want to go back to that. So that's what that's why. I think this could be different because it is a total urban Meyer show yesterday. Hygiene but is the urban Meyer Show your Jacksonville You spoke to him? As you said, How would you? You know what was your perception? What word or words would you use to describe the vibe you got from him specifically as an individual. About the football team, or just in general, like just in general. I mean, he's one of those guys. I think people you know, like they see him. They see the program is built out. But then you know the way they know there's been some controversies or flame out here. They're saying he's not gonna return to coaching, Um, stuff like that. And then all the sudden he's coaching again. So there's a little bit of a preconceived notion. I think of urban Meyer. The people might have I think there's some a lot of folks might be a little, um Let's just say he's that sometimes you could come off is not the warmest of people, right? I mean, I'm fine, but But he is a successful driven Of focused the blinders were on and I'm trying to win football games person and that's fine. My God, I have no issues with that, I think, and I actually I talked to her coach together. They too from ESPN who knows very well, obviously. In all the years of ESPN and his connections with the highest statements and No..

Urban Meyer to keep health in mind as new Jacksonville Jaguars coach
"A jacksonville is the best job opening in the nfl. right now. they've got eleven total picks in the upcoming grab first round picks one hundred million dollars in salary cap space. They have the number one pick so all unless unless someone is as a complete and utter fool. that are going to be Drafting trevor lawrence. Whether number one. Pick and trevor lawrence. It's supposed to be a generational great. Come on man come on tomorrow to mark. Among on if sean con come on man is about time you get serious if you can go ahead and get yourself but yourself in the position where hey you know what. We've got a really good thing going here. In terms of the future we covered that bear. And we've got all of this to work with you know. How many times would love to be in that position. Already mentioned the fact in the nba raphael stone in general managers. In general in that league you ask them what would you rather have in terms of rebuilding program. All of these guys who say man. I'm a multiple picks a lot of salary cap space to go ahead and do my thing. Would you get that injectable even with a hard salary cap now. Jacksonville isn't the same as far as free agent destination as a los angeles or the bigger markets. But still you're talking about. The state of florida was no income state tax. You're speaking about ill a situation where you're gonna be working with a generational great quarterback possibly. Hopefully i mean there's a lot of things you have a really really good young talent on that team that a lot because the team one and fifteen but there's there's some ambers within the within the the fire that you can That you can work with. I mean it should be very attractive job for a gm but if a gm any worth of any you know any worth is going to go in there and you're going to be talking about. Yeah i'm going to be in charge of the roster. I mean come on man you know the next bill polian next ron. Woolfe is not going to be like yes. That's pretty good and then since you already hired the couch you gotta make sure that the coach in the general manager president of football operations are together as one as far the philosophy is concerned. And we don't know where myers philosophy because well. He's never coached. He's never coached in the nfl so he might have a philosophy all this kind of stuff. What is it based off of. It can be based on what he did in college because college in the nfl completely different animals. Yeah you might have a philosophy of how you deal with people in college. What when you're dealing with people in college. They're eighteen to twenty two years old when you're going to be different of course and you know this coming central tell you. It's a lot of different dealing with grown men who have mortgages who are building their brands. Who have kids who have other responsibilities lot different way. You work with them. Sure in a college situation. You are of the defacto you are. You are the maker you are the guy you are the when i say jump you answer. How high when i say run through brick wall put your head down and go through that brick wall inc a college. You can get away with that stuff in the. Nfl is not. You're not coach. Employees i mean. This isn't supervisor employees working together. This is a collective understanding in terms of where we're going so yeah you wouldn't have any philosophy and you can have. You can try to find players that are into fit that philosophy but how rigid is that philosophy going to be. If you're urban meyer in college will you can go ahead and you can recruit anybody who you want to. You can text. You can call and you can do all these things and you can go ahead and develop a relationship over the years so you can even have a better understanding it. This young man is going to be able to fit the philosophy that you have in college. You can do that shit and the nfl you can't and the nfl is a business. And if you speaking about philosophy you better think about the philosophy. A win. Because i used to do all that bullshit about. Yeah you know. I bring these young men into the league. And you know these guys are young and some of these come from underprivileged backgrounds and these guys never have a checking account before. These guys don't know how to do this and these guys don't know how to do that so for me as a coach especially being a black coach with these kids coming into the nfl coming in basically as kids even though there are twenty one twenty two years old. I feel it's a responsibility for me to show them the ways of live and the show them how to do things the have them grow and mature of by the time that they retire that they'll be able to have a foundation for them to be successful one. Football is over

"Smart there. Don't tip your hand. Their urban meyer. Even though everybody knows it's going to be trevor lawrence. It's the number one overall. Pick going to jacksonville. Here's the thing. Marcus what did you think of some of the things that urban had to stay today especially about adapting. Yeah that's the only thing that mattered to meals Obviously we talked about urban. Meyer never being. Nfl head coach. But how fast you get the respect of these rome in. How fast can you let them know that we all pulling in the same direction but you also want them to have their individual success. I think coaches missed that in the nfl sometimes like those things can be cohesive. They can work together. You can have teen success but also coaches. That's coming into the league. These acknowledge that a lot of these guys want to have individual success because not only does it further your career in the. Nfl helps your family off the field. You get paid when you ball and then when you set up for success so adaptability was amazing for me and then to. I'm not going to get caught up in this whole quarterback who they gonna take i. There's a dark room somewhere in jacksonville where there's a huddle of about thirty to forty people already. Printing a damn treble lowers all is to or submitted so they could put up on the website and sell out in five minutes. That's all that the jacksonville jaguars go sale jerseys like own a serious though. Y'all trouble or is being drafted number one overall. Obviously he checks the boxes with skill level and talent but there is a city ride known. This there is sweets that that need to be sole jerseys. That need to be sold and a shock of excitement around this organization franchise. I don't think anybody can do it. Like trouble lawrenceville.

"Coordinator Robert Sallah as their new head. Coach. Sides grid of five year deal reminds me a lot of the calm of Herm Edwards, but the fire rex, right? That's a pretty good combination there. I know a lot of people want to hear my reaction to the New York Jets, hiring their head coach Robert Saleh, and I would say initially, the situations of the Jets and the Jaguars. Not that dissimilar. The Jets have a lot of extra draft picks this year. They have a lot of free agent money to spend. The big difference, of course, is the quarterback situation. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the easiest quarterback situation in the entire world. You've got this once in a lifetime prospect sitting there at number one. You take him and you get on with your life. You spend your let you spend the next couple of years developing him into what everyone says he should eventually be. The Jets have an entirely different situation. Which is why when I woke up to this news this morning, I was not. I didn't see this until I got up this morning. The first thing I did was click on a video of Adam Schefter on SportsCenter talking about it. I already knew that Robert Saleh had been named the head coach, but the really important thing that Schefty said was this. I would think that Sam Donald is going to return as the Jets quarterback and the Jets will entertain offers at the number two pick. I think that they could sit there and take an offensive tackle. They could sit there and take a water. Seaver. They could do whatever they want with that pick, But right now, I think the plan would be to proceed with Sam Donald is the quarterback of the New York Jets in 2021, I think Joe Douglas in this staff, believing him Robert solid believes in him, And I think that they'd like to give Sam Darling opportunity for a full season when he's healthy with a new staff to see what he could do. I would be surprised if Sam Donald We're not the starting quarterback on opening day, and that is shifting. And as I told you yesterday, I've known Adam Schefter 15 years. He doesn't just say that. Adam Schefter, any of you who have watched him and that means all of you. You know, Schefty is very careful with his words. He's not saying that if he doesn't know that So obviously, things can change between now and April or even March when free agency begins. Clearly as of right now, the plan of the New York Jets is to bring Sam Donald back as their quarterback. I'm going to root for the best on that, but be very concerned. It is my belief that the New York Jets and the total dysfunction of their franchise and I'm not reliving this because this is a day to sort of turn the page. I feel that they have broken him. And it is my belief that for him to get fixed, the best way to do that is to go somewhere else. That's not what they're going to do. You're going to root for the best. We're going to root for him to be rehabilitated in this city. Where the fans I think we're going to be un enthusiastic about his return. Fans of the New York Jets spent most of this season thinking they were going to get Trevor Laurence. We'll wind up seeing what happens. As for salad, I'm excited. He's a guy Everybody wanted. His players like Richard Sherman are all tweeting support. His defense This year was top five despite losing basically everybody to injury, and, most importantly, he is the coolest looking person I've ever seen in my entire life. The New York Jets now officially is that could make this breaking news. The New York Jets officially have the coolest looking coach. No matter what else happens, our coach looks cooler than your coach. Expect the defense is going to get better fast,.

Is who we want and need a leader, winner and champion who demands excellence and produces results. Mayer was a three time national champion of the college ranks two titles with Florida one with Ohio State, while he also had successive bowling Green State and Utah from 2005 to 2010 in Florida Myers Gators teams posted a record of 65 wins and 15 losses at Ohio State from 2012 to 2018. "They're free to hang out with us and talk about the hires of Jacksonville Jaguars in Urban Meyer. The New York Jets of Robert Salome from the 40 Niners, the former defensive coordinator. Triple eight ESPN 8887293776. I mentioned about a couple minutes ago, give or take a lie, too. He and these two teams and 2020 Working by three and 29. Jackson won the opening day because the Annapolis colt and they didn't see another one in 2020 the Jets with the 1st 13 weeks of the season before they saw victory, at least they want to out of their last four. So there's that, But either way, these three team these two teams combined three and 29 A new slate. New head coaches. What does your gut tell you about who was going to succeed before the other? This is like asking right now with these two teams, which mutt is cuter. Okay, both horrendous. I mean, you have Jackson. Well, you're gonna have a rookie quarterback coming in, and Trevor Laurence, and when Look, the sky's the limit for this guy. He's He's going to going to be outstanding, but he's also a rookie quarterback on then you have a broken quarterback, and Sam Donald and it all starts with that position, But because urban Meyer has been a head coach, and he's been studying the NFL What it takes to win in the National Football League for about two years. Albert Breeders piece on mmqb dot com and outside calm is outstanding as to how much research And time. Urban Meyer's put into being a head coach in the NFL what it takes to win, so I'm gonna go out slightly nine toe Urban Meyer and Jacksonville winning Ahead of the other mutt in the New York Jets. What then with their first year, head coach, right? And Robert Sala, but he is ah! Robert has learned understand pig damn good ones. Oh, he was with Seattle and one in a Super Bowl is an assistant under Pete Carroll. He's Billa College, Shanahan the last four years on and what he's done defensively. Has been nothing short of remarkable especially with it with what he did last season. Due to your point earlier, the people just tuning in. I'm your losing are gonna be your two best defensive players. They didn't miss a beat. I mean, he was outstanding again. But it's also first time as a head coach. Yeah, There's no doubt in my mind. He's gonna surround himself a great, you know coordinators, assistant coaches, position coaches, but so was Urban Meyer. Somebody go slight lean to the Jags just because urban has held that position at a very high level before Okay, I'm gonna go the other way. And here's why, and you made some very fair and salient points about urban Meyer being the kind of CEO that you're going to need in the National Football League. It's cool that play callers, but certain teams for exam Pekao COC out does a great job. Being able to delegate responsibility, taking responsibility and things don't go right. When things do go right. He deflected this somebody else so you can make both work We've seen it can happen in the National Football League. I just think, by Ah God. There's been around the NFL in terms with Saul has been able to do with the offensive coordinator being under Pete Carroll being under Kyle Shanahan seen those situations do with adverse situations this year. When you lose all those dudes, you're still a top five defense when it comes to the National Football League, and you already have a quarterback that has talent, but it had a bunch of bums around him through no fault of his own. It comes to Sam Donald That's why I think immediately because there's nowhere to go but up when you're one of 15 on one side and two on 14 on the other side, you have a 41 sees they're gonna throw a parade. From that standpoint, either way in Jacksonville or the New York Jets. I think because Robert's cell has been around the NFL game just a little bit more and understands exactly. Okay, this is what I need to do right now for the short term and the long term because the long game is about both of these situations without me. Yeah, I'm gonna meaning the Jets early on that they're going to succeed because you have a guy that you know, can play quarterback a little bit. Just give a little bit more talent game a little bit more of a chance, And I think data payoff big dividends early on. Because he won't have the pressure. At a rookie quarterback in trouble laws, meaning No. One pick in the draft and Urban Meyer they're gonna have. I think more pressure and Jacksonville to succeed first, then the Jets Robert Saleh and also Sam down the quarterback and culture culture quarterback respectively. But to your point about the Jets, Robert has has been on bad teams, and he understands that look, when you lose a game in the NFL, it's not the end of the world. I mean, you got a clapped out off and move on to the next game immediately because if you lose 56 times in the league Hell of a season. Yeah, but you still 11 10 win team. You're right. Urban Meyer loses once in college, and he's furious on dwells on it. So that that is one thing that wand speaking the Jags. I mean, Hello was with the Jackson the guy on the Gus Bradley. He's there You go. Yeah, he's he's experienced some really bad times, Also, along with good times in Seattle, and then obviously the Niners. I'm curious. One aspect of that. I am fascinated. Fascinated with is how does urban Meyer handle adversity? Absolutely. When you do, lose, Yeah. 23 weeks in a row. How is that going to wear on him from a physical and a health standpoint? Because patients is the ultimate virtue. In the league and you also have to had not have patients can have a sense of urgency in the lake. The balance of that Is is a unique thing that makes The the The Great Head coach is great. If you have a two game skid, all right, man, we gotta fix it. You can't get you know you let it just wear on you. And that's something that war on urban at Florida and then obviously at Ohio State. That's one thing he's got to be able to understand, And I think he has another research. He's done leading into this that look you go on three game. Skin is not the end of the world. Right? She doesn't because my boss sees is a good year. Yeah, that's what Tom is. My friend Michigan State would've never made it Could be a head coach. Know you lose 35 games in a year in the NBA, That's terrific. In the with him. You have got to there's tallest building. You'd have to have a watch for him from that standpoint..

"Ahead. Hey, J. R you kinda answered my question. When I was on home. I was gonna just make comparisons. The Knicks a venue. We've already kind of charge down that territory. Obviously, from the details you rather off. There's a big upside given what's going on with Jacksonville. Did the deal. Explain what terms of compensation he's going to be getting? No from everything that I've seen. I haven't seen compensation yet. I would gather based upon where other coaches a rat. You know, the rule comes in, and he hasn't coached a game in his life. And he was in that that that 8 to $10 million range, so I would figure Urban Meyer coming in. I've pretty much gathered a pencil him in at Or about $10 million given state Okay, That's pretty much whilst thinking Standard issue. What? Not like you Like You said with only one win. I feel a lot of upside here. Obviously, he's gonna have a lot of picks to make. And Urban Meyer is used to building more than just handing off the decision. Makers like a coordinator here are coordinator there so I can upside I can understand. The only thing people always point to you is Nick Saban. He's the example of a successful college quarter coordinates coach that went to the pros and didn't do very well and He just wanted seven national championships. I don't think he's gonna be moving out of Tuscaloosa anything but that's the only conversation I was gonna make. You come into that question when I was on hold. Well, no, I'm glad I'm ahead of the curve. Paul. Thank you. So much for calling up from New Orleans. Let's not out to Colorado and let's talk to Zach Zach. Your CBS Sports Radio, The J. R sport brief show. Yeah, I think there's no really that urban can work out. I'm just a little bit worried about the owner out. I think I kind of metal little bit job. How was it years ago? Their championship s o. Your audio isn't too good. Zach. I want to address what you just said. I am. I am less concerned about Shad Khan, and that is the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville Jaguars problems over the past several years. I hate to do it and mention it, but I primarily point to Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin, as we know was right there. When the Jacksonville Jaguars were basically awarded a franchise, he helped build them into a respectable team that just basically disappeared into the toilet. Not too long after we know Tom Coughlin eventually got the head coaching job of the Giants. We know about the success that they had Tom conflict also had to adjust his style. Things change. Tom Coughlin was a task master. Do what I say. You're five minutes late, Unless you're 15 minutes early, just etcetera. He had the change. He had to relax. And then they won again. He was basically on the hot seat. Retires. He has an opportunity to now run the team, The Jacksonville Jaguars the team where he originally was, and here we go. He brought in that same old man mentality and, unfortunately, the Jacksonville Jaguars got fined. Started ruffling the feathers of some of the stars. We've seen the exodus and Doc Way, Ramsey. I can go on. They weren't happy there and could you blame them? But this is a different this is a different situation right now. Tom Coughlin is gone. You're still waiting to see who the full time general manager is gonna be your bringing in Urban Meyer. I think it's less about shad Khan, but more so about who's running the show. He had a lot of faith, and he had a lot of patients in conflict until he couldn't anymore. All this started literally costing him money and finds J is calling up from Pennsylvania J. You want CBS Sports radio? How you doing? They are so perfect. I got two points to make. I think Urban Meyer and the lot is overrated personally, and I think you know, coaching. Usually, if you look back at the college championship top recruit team, they recruit the best win the championship. So if you got a better team you're supposed to want Secondly, if you look at the history of the college coaches, I don't know any college coaches that won the championship, a Super Bowl to Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. So like these college coaches Don't seem like they're really like they can coat with even playing field. They can only coach when when the thing is loaded to their favor. I don't know. I want to know what you think about that well. And I said this in the last hour How many coaches at all. Let's think about every coach and now I don't have the statistics. It would be ridiculous. But if we really thought about every single head coach that was hard in the NFL. How many of them went anything. Look at that the odds and the chances of slim Coaches get hired to get fired. Forget college. We could say that about all offensive coordinators. We could say that about defensive coordinators. Could basically lift up my hand. And just say over the past 20 years, maybe 30 years. These are the coaches who have won titles and championships. And then everybody else is just like, okay, You got one. And then maybe you got one there and and you got to Let's boil that down so all 32 head coaches The majority of the head cultures right now in the NFL aren't going to win a damn championship. So I would unnecessarily measure that and say, Oh, well, College coaches can't win and I fell. Coaches get jobs and they can't win. That's just the reality. It ain't for everybody. You get your job, You get your salary..

Here's what will determine whether Urban Meyer will succeed as Jaguars coach
"So rj breaking news here. It is a live radio show in anytime we have breaking news. We enjoy it especially when it's the news that just came out a short time ago. That urban meyer is the new head coach of the jacksonville. Jaguars so what you're saying is the podcasts. Are going to spend twenty five minutes speculate. And if he goes there or not aren't live okay. Except that i agree with you. I find this fascinating. Remember now i'm in ohio state graduate and obviously to some degree in urban meyer fan. I'm not a huge urban. Meyer fan to be honest with you because i don't love that every it seems like there's a a prima donna element to him aspect to him. The idea that okay. When i'm wanted you know it's like the girl who that always likes the guy chasing a right but once she said it was in. She's looking for that next guy to chase her. Because let's be honest if you're getting rewarded if you're getting flowers and candy. It's fine right the day to day grind isn't as fun and if you look at what the buckeyes of done sense. Urban meyer laughed with coach day. You can make the case. It's superior though they haven't won a national title yet that you know is your two year period. You could make the case that urban meyer did better. I don't know but i mean so. Now the question is well how much urban meyer is recruiting. Lay the groundwork. And all that. And i think that's true no doubt about it but in the nfl. You don't recruit. I mean you could say you do to some degree with free agency but it feels like to me. One of the reason college coaches don't do well in the nfl isn't because they're so overmatched that it's not that the xs and os are so beyond them. I have no doubt urban meyer's ability offensively especially with his scheme with his coaching. Ability is going to be fine if not extraordinary but it feels like that to be a great college coach. At least half of it is recruiting. And you're taking that great attribute urban meyer highs in making a nonfactor.

Meyer makes NFL jump, named Jaguars coach
"Of the Jacksonville Jaguars out with a statement tonight, saying that former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is going to become the next head coach of the Jaguars this coming season. This is ESPN is Adam Schefter. This is a team with the number one overall draft pick with right to draft. Trevor Lawrence. This is a team that has 11 draft picks, thanks to trades that involved Jalen Ramsey in Janek and God way last year. This is a team that has over $100 million in salary cap space in a year in which the cap is expected to go down, and it may be the best buyer's market for free agents that teams have ever had in Jacksonville's got all that room. It comes in a state where there's no taxes. Enticing free agents to make a move to Florida even more so than the ordinarily would everything lined up perfectly in place for Urban Meyer to make the jump.

"Welcome back to the Gresh Show AJ in Pensacola, Florida birthday. I really enjoy your show. Interesting stuff for me. It's a good day whenever I can catch yourself. I'm kind of an odd duck. I teach chess by phone and on the Internet. I'm a chess master. Amazing traction on this show. I'm very proud and I'm happy that America's responding. You make the call at 855 to 1 to four, CBS. Right now in Philadelphia. Jalen hurts has been benched in Philly. Washington has a 22 14 lied about 6.5 minutes to go. Nate sub felled is in for the Eagles. And Washington with a six point lead, so this could get real interesting here down the stretch. Uh, watching tonight feels like they get 20 points and that's sort of The magic number for them. To be able to have a chance to win. In a massive third and six right now for the Washington defense with a six point lead. They give up the first down. So Philly continuing to move the ball down the field will see if Nate sub felled can be the guy toe, punch it into the end zone. And this is the final regular season day for the NFL. It is Week 17 the final Sunday of the NFL regular season and we're left with questions in New York and in Jacksonville in Atlanta in Detroit in Houston. Who are going to be the head coaches that will walk into those places, and I'm going to assume. Doug Marone of the Jacksonville Jaguars is to be fired within the next day or so, but he need G. M's and Jacksonville Atlanta, Detroit, Houston Carolina in Washington. Those are organizations that air going to undergo some big change. I'm sure there will be a surprise Coach Fired, you know. Is Anthony Lynn going to get run with Chargers? Maybe Chargers fan wants in on this. To. Ah, I'm not making fun of Jim Rome because I know it's Jim Rome. Making fun of that goo packs all Hamilton. Show me your lightning bolt, you know? Well, the lightning bolts show Anthony Lynn the door. What about maybe in Minnesota or Denver? Do you have to make a change it head coach. They're moving forward. Who is the NFL? N v p. This year's and Aaron Rodgers is it? I can make a hell of a case for Derrick Henry man. And it's a simple is this Every stadium. They walk into the Tennessee Titans go. Hey! We're run a ball with this guy and you can't stop it. We dare you to do so And then they were on over people the majority of the time in winning in a F C South division title. You know, we thought the rookie of the year on offense was easily going to go to Justin Herbert. I don't know, just in Jefferson's made a hell of a run. Who was the coach of the year in the NFL, and I think right now there are three categories of NFL fans. There are the fans whose teams are going under are about to undergo a complete overhaul. Jets. Jacksonville, Atlanta Houston Detroit. Whether it's a coach or a GM or flipping over the roster. That's big overhaul. Then there are the teams who, you know, have their coach in their quarterback, maybe or have a little Momenta Mu No in Cincinnati, and they're not blown out. Zach Taylor. They just got Joe Borrow. It's the whole What did they do? Then there's teams like New England. You know, maybe Washington. They get a win their 79. They're gonna win the division. But are they any good? How in the world do you read? Tool that football team? What do you do if your New England How about if you're a team like San Francisco who needs to maybe freshen things up a little bit, So there's the teams that are really bad there. The teams in the middle who need tweaking, Let's call it And then there are the playoff teams to talk about. Get in 855 to 1 to four. CBS coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios want to see your loan options, adjust payments and closing costs online in real.

"Hope that every once in a while you learn it from me, but sometimes you learn it from guys like Eric and Green Bay, who just can't stand Ohio State and it's going to take any shot that he needs to get in a shot at Ohio State. Scott in Baltimore is up on CBS Sports Radio, a Scot A journey back. How you doing? Good. You Not too bad. I got a question for you told me last night that You thought the Jacksonville picking the quarterback Ohio State fields. Was about his bigger chances. You winning the Powerball were correct. And I didn't hit the Powerball. Dammit! Thanks for reminding me. Yes, I continued to do the show because Not only did I not hit it, I think I got one number in four games. I played four games where they bucks on. I think I got one number out of all for the games. Got two on one, but you need three to get any and I'm really sorry about work back, so it is what it is. But do you think that changes all saying that Urban Meyer's going to be the next coach and or If he doesn't take it, although they say he's going to that, though I was state current coach is going to take that job. I mean, that's gotta. They have more intel in fields in anybody. Yes, And here's exactly what I think will happen. If Urban Meyer gets the head coaching got job with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Select trouble Lark. Okay? Just because you think it has no effect? No, none whatsoever. I think Colonel Lawrence is the number one pick in the draft. And it doesn't matter who the tactical coaches. I think there will be smart enough wise enough. We'll be able to pull the trigger and take him. They didn't have a J. I'm sure the day recruited travel Lawrence, but he wanted to go to Clemson. So they found out that they weren't going to get him. He never thought to transfer which remember. Field went to George. Your first He stayed home in the state of Georgia went there couldn't beat out the starting quarterback and said, Wait a minute. You're not just gonna hand me the job. Well, in the hell with this, I'm out of here and he ended up. I don't hyo state and more power to him for doing that, But, um, I'm sure they made their pitch to Trevor Laurence as well. It doesn't mean they can't evaluate Trevor as the better pro prospect just because they actually coached fields and events. Right? I just I just don't know. I think it made they made looked, uh, swap with the Jets. But who knows? You may be right and I didn't ask and I don't know what you less, but I did take a call. Somebody said, what do you think the chances are of the gets calling up and creating and making a call? Um, if you're the jet, you ask. If I'm Gatun Bill, I'm asking for a king's ransom and going nuts. I want your first. I want a second pick in the draft, and I want you to. I want your freshman picnic here and your second round pick next year, and I'm probably gonna ask, Pray another player. So five for one about is what I would ask to drop that one slot in the draft, and I don't think the Jets will do anything like that. But the conversation maybe had between the two parties. Yeah. No, I certainly would. I'm not a Jets fan. I'm a Ravens fan, but I certainly wouldn't give up. I mean, I give up my number two this year or if they wanted the number one next year. But that the doll I'd be giving up which I said, you know, unless they really love field much, Probably not enough, but we'll see. I mean, hopefully the Let's take fields if he's there, and we'll see what happens to both of although I I don't know. I like Don't know coming out, but he just hasn't been given a good deck of cards to play with. No, he hasn't and if the Jets decide to go in another direction I'm going to be critical because I like fields as much as I do, but it doesn't mean that I'm going to say, Well, I now the Jets have no chance to win for the next 10 years because I do like Donald. I think he's a solid quarterback. I think he's got a chance to be a good quarterback. I'm kind of stretching it to say very good quarterback, but I think fields can be great. And that's why I want them to take field so badly with the number got appreciate the call. I gotta run. He's playing the music. That means I gotta get out tomorrow. That would be Sunday.
