"7 point lead. Alright that's Tony Cassasoni from there Learfield. Washington hangs on to beat Utah 35 -28. So we actually saw the tail end of this play here Ephraim where the ball was intercepted and it then was dropped. Dropped right at the 1. Right at the 1. The ball just stood at the 1 yard line. Recovered by Utah but then their first play they tried a straight handoff and it just got dropped for the safety. Washington hangs on for the 7 point victory. Once again this is Fox Football Saturday. Steve Harbony from Salaam with you. We are live from the TireRack .com studios and as we speak Ole Miss has jumped out on top of Georgia 11th place 75 yard drive extra point is good so just like that 7 -0. This is an Ole Miss team ranked 9th in the playoff poll. They're 8 -1 Jackson Dart getting some big play passes in that drive so again we've been talking about Georgia this team is not as good as the Georgia team we've seen the last two years. Well no I mean those guys are all playing tomorrow. Right exactly. The to 25 30 percent of their teams the last two seasons are now playing on Sundays and having huge impacts on Sundays so they were basically essentially men amongst boys just ragdolling college kids on their way to the NFL and it's going to take some time. Georgia is still considered one of the top teams if not the top team in the country but it's there is no Stetson Bennett who had been there forever there's it's no defensive front seven who you know all first round draft picks in second round draft picks from the linebacker corps so it'll take some time they're still undefeated and they still have an opportunity to represent the SEC in the college football playoffs. I'll tell thing you one though if it does come down to a Georgia Alabama game as well as Milro is playing right now a quarterback look out. That's gonna be good. After that loss to Texas early Alabama seems to be getting better and better and better and better. It's the same thing I mean you look at the Heisman winners that are now in throwing passes the NFL it's going to take some time like you said they've gone through two three quarterbacks this year coming back to the original starter coming into the season they just needed to figure out what they had and they used the early part of the season they just ran into a team that was pumped up and ready to go and beat them. The highlight game in college football today was the Michigan Penn State game it happened early Michigan dominated throughout in fact they ran the ball the last 30 plays from scrimmage. The second half they didn't throw a pass. Six of a passing for their previously Heisman candidate JJ McCarthy and they ran the ball down the throat of Penn State I believe they had something like 265 yards on the ground they get the victory. I want to ask you this. I love those types of games by the way. By the way and I'm gonna get a little siding on it because I saw this headline and I got to throw this at you. With your 13 years in the NFL a lifetime on that offensive line. Micah Parsons the NFL needs more officials they missed too many blatant holding calls. Coming from one of the best pass pressures edge guys in the NFL. So as a guy who was 13 years in the trenches in the National Football League. When you hear an edge guy like Micah Parsons saying yeah we need more officials because you're constantly missing holding calls on the field. Your response. Sway. Come on man get out of here with that if I care about all that. Suck it up. You know I was watching highlights from an old time NFL game back in the 60s. An old -timey game. And where the offensive linemen still had to keep their to hands their chest. Oh God Art Shell used to talk about that all the time. I mean basically. We used to have to block like this. And you had to position your body you couldn't extend your hands. Couldn't extend your hands holding. We get it Art. We get it. Yes we get it. We get it. Could you have done that? Of course you could. No. What? It's a terrible way to try to block someone. Awful. Well you have to use your body then. You can't use your hands. No. No. And yet the defensive guys. Oh they could use their hands. They could head slap you. They could head slap you. Deacon Jones the head slap your brain out. I told you that. of Hall Fame Bob Brown was an offensive tackle one of the all -time greats. He got so tired of Deacon with the head slap he actually had a screw that he went through the side of his helmet and I know this happened because Deacon once showed me his hand. Deacon did the head slap and the screw which was protruding from the helmet ones right through his hand. He showed me the scar in the middle of his head because my hand was stuck on his helmet. Oh those are the good old days. I want to get back to Jim Harbaugh for a second here. All right Harbaugh so will sit out the rest of the regular season as far as Michigan is concerned. No mention of the Big Ten championship game. No mention of a potential playoff appearance. That of course is not under the jurisdiction of the Big Ten. Remember that the playoff is a different beast. That being said the talk about Jim Harbaugh returning to the NFL. I just wanted to get your thoughts on how good a coach is Jim Harbaugh. So the reason I say that is look the last couple of years they were in the playoff. I still don't know how they lost that game to TCU. That was not pretty especially after TCU then got blasted by Georgia in the championship game. But if you're a Mark Davis with the Raiders and you have an opportunity to hire Jim Harbaugh and everything you get with Jim Harbaugh and if you thought he was set in his ways maybe turning off a few people in San Francisco when he left the 49ers to go to Michigan. He's even more set now. So what do you think of Jim Harbaugh's head coach? Track record he can coach. So it's what are you willing to give up? What are you willing to deal with as an owner when you bring someone in like Jim Harbaugh? He's gonna want to run things his way. It's gonna be expensive. But what you know you get is a real coach. Someone who can work with a quarterback. Someone who can run a team. Someone one players guys like to play for. But you're gonna have to have control. some Well we were just talking about the Belichick way. I mean coaches that want too much control. I mean there isn't a coach out there that doesn't want total control. Believe me. But that doesn't exist. Doesn't exist. Right. But the more story the more. But returning to the college game the way he did. Where you do have the kind of control that you can have never at the NFL level. No you can't. Right. Is he a different coach than he was when he was with the 49ers? Well I wouldn't say he's a different coach. I mean he's on everywhere he's coached. That is true. So if you're the Raiders need winners. The Raiders need a change of culture. Well he brings credibility into that locker. And that's what you want. You can't continue to lose now. What will happen is we have to see how Antonio Pierce finishes out. Because if he has those guys playing they played last week. Then you might want to roll the dice there. You don't want to have another situation where guys have ceased and excited about an interim coach. And you go in a completely different direction. And remember the money still owed Josh McDaniels. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I heard Mark Davis getting all this money from him. He doesn't have that money. No. I promise you he doesn't. Between him and the GM that's 85 million dollars. 85 million dollars? Yeah man. know.

"You're rooting. You're rooting. You're watching them. So Notre Dame, Ohio State are both legendary programs and having a game like this that is an elite matchup with these two teams is great for college football. Yeah, we got Joe Theismann there. You have Vince Vaughn. Brian Urlacher. Brian Urlacher, New Mexico. Brian, what are you doing there, buddy? I guess he became an honorary Notre Dame fan as a Chicago bear. I guess. He went to New Mexico. Played for Rocky Long. Yeah, he did. Played for Rocky Well, Long. I played against Brian. He was a hell of a college boy. Yeah, he was, man. He did everything. Like, he returned punch. Well, he was a real athlete. Like, you know, it just, he just stuck out on film every time, every time we watched him. He was all over the place. Yeah, so, um, getting back to a couple of games that were played a little bit earlier today, and again, when we look at some of these matchups and the final results, Alabama, as we mentioned, beating Ole Miss today, that was a huge game for Nick Saban. They needed that. They needed that in the worst way, and their quarterback played well after getting benched a week ago. Saban, I'm sure, was hearing it. I have never seen a week where there was more anti -Nick Saban sentiment than this past week, where even, you know, the fine bong, what's his name, Paul Finebong, what's his name? Yeah, yeah. He, I mean, he's saying it's over. He's basically indicating, and that guy's like Mr. SEC, and for them to come up, especially on a defensive side, and do what they did to Ole Miss, because you know, Lane Kiffin knows the Nick Saban playbook. He knows everything about it. A veteran quarterback at Jackson Dart, and he got shut down today, so yeah, sometimes the obituary's a little premature. Well, it is, especially when you you have, when you're writing one for the greatest college football coach of all time, it's hard to pin that obituary after three games. So it, look, will they continue on, and will they be in the college football championship, I mean playoffs? I don't know. Maybe not, because that quarterback is position a little shaky. Well, they'd have to run the table. They'd have to run the table. Even if they somehow got to the SE championship and lost to let's say Georgia. They will lose to Georgia. Yeah. Well, Georgia's trying to still work out their quarterback situation. They are, but it's the defense for Georgia. Georgia, don't I know how you can lose that many starters on that one. They all go to the Eagles. Unbelievable. And still have the level of talent they have up front and in that secondary. It just blows my mind and that is what we call a pipeline. You know, that's a power struggle at the top for minutes over college football in Georgia has supplanted them at this time. And I know that just burns Nick safe enough. I know it is. Well, think about this. The AP poll started in 1936. No one has ever been the AP national champion three years in a row. And obviously if you win the playoff, you're automatically going to be the AP champion. Georgia's trying to pull that off this year. They are. I think that this Notre Dame Ohio State game winner could be the prime challenger. I would agree with that, especially if it's Notre Dame. When you have a six year quarterback, when you think about Sam Hartman's career, Wake Forest throwing for well over 10 ,000 yards. And then you go to Notre Dame with that kind of resume where you're obviously throwing the ball to much more talented receivers than you ever had at Wake Forest. But this kid right here, Marvin Harris Jr., Marvin her son Jr. hated playing against his father. Yes. And Peyton Manning just drove us crazy being on two teams where they were in our division. Yes. Oh, God. Just wide open again. Like, why is he so wide open? His son shifts the sentiment. same And even when he's not wide open, throw it up to him. He'll make it happen. Well, he's one of those the son of a Hall of Famer that talent wise is probably better. But of course, yes. In sheer physical talent. Well, his father will tell you that as well. Yeah. Well, fathers say that anyway. but No, I'm saying I have a nine year old. We were basketball training basketball. Is he ahead of you? Were he I'm not even on his level now. Okay. At nine years old. You remember when you were nine. Is that the great part about being a dad and you started going back in time? Like, where was I at this stage? I remember being nine eating cereal and watching cartoons. He's getting up at 830 and going to train with a coach. Wait a second here. Are you are you I know I know you very well. I know you're going to let him do his thing. Yeah, he wants to go to the NBA and play football. Do you ever have to pull the reins back a little bit on ten -year -old? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to burn out too quick. Well, no, he wanted to we just just came off the summer championship for 9U. Yeah. And he wanted to roll right into fall and then right into winter. And I said, no, no, no, we're going to take fall off. You're going to focus on school. Yeah, we're in school now. We're going to earn winter basketball. Right. But what we'll do is we'll train. We'll have Coach Allen, who's a tremendous trainer.

"Glen, in Atlanta, hello, Glen, good afternoon. Harvey, howdy. Paul? Hello. Hey. My question. I am ready. Go right ahead. Oh, the SEC has drummed off about four T's from the big 12. Big 12 lost one to the Big Ten. It also doesn't mean to the PAC ten. But right now with all the shakeups, what's your opinion here about the pack head of the big 12, joining are the big trials taking a big chunk of the Titan team. I'd like to hear your opinion. First of all, I don't think the I don't think the PAC 12 has anything to offer the big 12 that they can't get on their own. They may, I think they're still some attractive schools out there, Nebraska, excuse me, Oregon, Washington, have been rumored to go maybe to the Big Ten or the big 12, but I think it would be a mistake for the two leagues to merge because the big 12 has done pretty well. I would not have given them a nickel to survive two years ago when OU and Texas left, but they have cobbled together a respectable league. Meanwhile, the PAC 12 continues to sink into oblivion and the one thing they may have going for them is Colorado and Dion, but that's not enough to save the league. It simply is not. It might entice Colorado to consider coming back to where they used to be. Hey, thank you for the call. Appreciate it. John in Atlanta, you're on the air. Hello, John. Hey, Paul, thanks for taking my call. Thank you. I just had two quick questions for you. The first one involves the old miss quarterback room. And I was just wondering how you think lane kiffin is going to handle coming from a pretty depleted quarterback room this past year with just dart and altmeyer and how Spencer Sanders and walker Howard are going to play a mix and appreciate Jackson darts experience in that system and how far does that take them? Yeah, I don't think it takes Jackson dart too far. Because that is perhaps the most competitive room in the country. You've got the right guy making the call. He's got to be careful, but I don't know what more he needs to see from Jackson dart, do you? No, I agree with you. I agree with you with that. I think at this point, from what I this is what I've been reading, I think it starts job to lose at this point. After the spring game and everything, would that be a fair statement, you think? I think so, because he does have experience matters. When you parachute into a new system, it takes a while and you have to get chemistry, but some of that can be done soon. When they start the 7 on 7 drills in a couple of weeks, a lot can happen between quarterbacks and wide receivers. And you know kiffin's going to be watching that very closely. I think there will be a lot more progress made before we get to the beginning of camp because of that. Thanks for the call. Very interesting question there. Let's check out bob in California. You're on the air. Hello, bob. Hi, Paul. I'm a big USC fan. But once they joined the Big Ten, it's hard to be a big fan when the rivalry is Rutgers. So my question is, as the SEC ever thought about having a tournament like in football where they'll play the big one week or in a two week period of time where the Big Ten will play the SEC conferences and football like Alabama Michigan or Penn State auburn would ever consider that. It's hard to do, particularly now with all the multifaceted television contracts. It would have been a good idea, though. I don't know if you could have pulled it off, but I guess you could have. You could have done the first week of the year when everybody, you've got 7 schools, and you break it up somehow, or half play at the other school. And it would have been pretty exciting. Not happening now though. Way too way too we're too far gone for that to occur. Hey, thank you for the call, though. It's a good question. Garrett and Rhode Island, hello, Gary. Gary, you there? Yeah, I'm here. We're good. You're on the air. Oh, yeah. What do you think is going to happen to the ACC and the SEC? I know ACC schools are locked into that crazy contract, but at some point it's going to implode or don't tell themselves what schools then would likely end up in the SEC. And ACC schools in your opinion? Yeah, I mean, if it imploded in schools were up for grabs, then you start to determine who is the most attractive school in the ACC. And there are some various varied opinions on that. Let me identify who would be in contention. Clemson, obviously. Florida state, Miami, North Carolina. I think those are the four that would Garner the most attention. I think North Carolina would be able to perhaps go to the Big Ten or the SEC, Florida state, Clemson, Miami, I think, are clearly clearly would be SEC bound in our Florida state seems to have the most eyes when you look at the TV ratings and that sort of stuff. Well, that's important. I mean, Virginia, Virginia, tech is thought is thought to be attractive, but I don't think Virginia tech would be in that top four range. In spite of everything that they have there, but I still think that North Carolina is the school that brings you so many different things. And I know people don't think about North Carolina necessarily as a football power. They aren't. But they're also not bad. And they're also coming, they come from a popular populated state. And they're a good match for the Big Ten, both there. I think in some ways, North Carolina would appeal more to the Big Ten than even the SEC. Yeah, because no one's ever thought about basketball as a driver for the consolidation, but Big Ten basketball is very good. It's not critical, but at this point, it would factor in because you bring in North Carolina and you're adding one of the top programs of all time in basketball, a good enough football program, a program with tremendous tremendous fan base too. Hey, thank you for the call. Excellent. Very good. Let's check in with Jimmy, who is in Mississippi. Hello, Jimmy. Yes, sir. Good afternoon. Yes, this, Paul.

"Baseball scandal will talk to Kyle Peterson, what impact he could have on the tide is only this weekend next remain well, three more weekends remain before the SEC tournament Alabama currently in reasonably good shape for a high seating, but without the head baseball coach. Meanwhile, over in Oxford, oh, eyes on the rebels and what is going to happen with lane kiffin situation, especially at the quarterback position, David eckert covers the team for the clarion ledger. David, thank you for joining us. We appreciate it. So how has the spring gone and Oxford? Appreciate you having me, Paul. Yes, it's been a busy spring. Lane kiffin never leaves the without something to talk about, right? So the quarterback situation kind of dominating the headlines for sure with those two transfers. But then you've also got a totally reconstructed defense as well with peak gold incoming in. So definitely a lot to cover. But I do think it's been an instructive instructive spring for us. We've learned a lot. So how does the quarterback room look right now and based on what you've seen based on what you hear and what can you tell us and projecting what it's going to look like in a couple of months? Yes. Jackson dart, kind of the incumbent from last year came out and said, hey, I'm operating as if I'm the starter. And based on practice, the evidence kind of supports that. He's getting the majority of the reps. You look at who he's playing with. It does seem like he's the guy in the number one spot. And he's playing, he looked great in spring. He looked really good. So I'm at the point now where I would be very surprised if it's not him. But there's still plenty of time for that to change. The one caveat, I guess, to that situation is Spencer Sanders was hurt. And he was kind of just coming off of that injury. In the spring, he was on a pitch count. They were limiting his actions. So I guess if there is one thing that might kind of cause some doubt there, that's probably it, but it looks like Jackson dart to me. David eckhart, with us talking about the rebels. I mean, you're already the quarterback room is great. You got one of the best running backs in the entire country. Fill in the rest of the team for us. And then we'll get to the really good stuff like we'll cut to a record the rebels are going to have. First, the team. What does it look like? Well, yeah, again, lots of transfers. The wide receiver room, you look at TRE Harris from Louisiana tech, Chris Marshall, former 5 star guy from Texas a and M going to play a role there alongside returning Jordan Watkins. I think something that's maybe going under the radar nationally is I think they're tight end room has a chance to be really good. I think we're going to see a lot of two tight end sets from them in the fall. With Michael trigg, obviously really talented, didn't really quite click for him last year. And then they went out and got a Mac award semifinalist. Kate and preschool and Adam Memphis to kind of compliment him. So I think those two guys are going to be on the field a lot together. Really, to me, the question marks are on the other side of the ball, right? You lose two really talented members of your secondary to the transfer portal. Alongside AJ Finley, who was kind of a long-standing figure there. On the defensive line, you're transitioning from a three man front to a four man front under P holding. So that kind of creates a chain reaction, a question mark. Throughout the entire defense. And I do think there's still going to do some work in the transfer portal. I think they have some peace. They need some pieces that they don't have yet there. But yeah, offense looks great. I think it's going to be another very good length if an offense. I'm curious to see what the other side of the ball looks like. David, things could always be worse. What I mean by that is the schedule include three road games against top ten opponents as it is. There's only two because LSU comes to Oxford this year after being there last year. But playing Alabama early on the road, that's a top ten team, top 5, 16, number one team late. And of course, Mississippi on the road. I realized almost had a top ten matchup with Kentucky last year, doesn't seem like a day more, but when you look at that schedule and I'm sure you have, what do you come up with in terms of a reasonable prediction for the rebels? Yeah, I think they have a good football team, Paul, but you're right, the schedule is brutal. Don't forget about that fun little road game at tulane, which probably looked a lot more winnable. So yeah, it's a tough one. I mean, I think, again, I think it's a really good football team. You get that SEC SEC west grind thrown in with that two lane game that road game at Georgia for one of their pro crossover games. I think I'm probably sitting around 8 and four with them. That's what I'm operating with at the moment anyway. I realized whenever the schedule was made, maybe two lane looked like an easy win, but at a games like that end up on the calendar when you have a big time SEC school, I call this going on the road to play two lane. Yeah, I think it's fertile recruiting ground for one. I think ulna fans like going there.

"In a week out before the draft tomorrow we will tonight is actually a week from tonight. We'll talk to Mina chimes tomorrow early in the show, one of the most knowledgeable NFL experts on the planet. And let's get back to this planet. I think, and Dale is up next in Colorado, a hello Dale. Hey, Paul, how are you doing? We are well. Thank you. It's my favorite time of the day off of work, COVID, listen to Paul. Thank you, but I don't think you should go fishing with Larry. No, there's no way. Because Larry's already, and by the way, if I end up dead, that's premeditated murder. I know, you know, you got witnessed. We all heard it. Alabama still has the death penalty. So Larry will be going to the big House. I know. So I just got a comment on some stats and I would like your feedback with some done. If you allow me, please sir. So for the coaches in the first 6 seasons, who has put the most players in the NFL Draft is trestle coker and then Kirby. Now, we all know Kirby's getting probably 5 or 6 more this year. Okay, so that will pretty much 50 of any code in history among college football coaches. That will be the most ever in the first 7 seasons. So I'm just saying, I'm not nothing Kirby's to go, whatever, but he's making a damn good run at it. I love the dogs, love you, Paul, go dogs, hang on them. I'm just curious where a guy comes up with that stat, where you decide to research for 6 years of a coach and how many people they put in the draft. Kevin is up next. Kevin, good afternoon. Hey, good afternoon, Paul. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you. Every time I hear your gym, there's one thing that comes to my mind, and I'm wrong. I mean, Jim is just always mad and always angry. You know what I mean? I mean, Larry is just like finding your nails on a chalkboard. But football note, what do you think about if they move jaylen mill road to like a debo Samuel road? Well, I think he's a dynamic player, but I'm not sure why they will do that. Until they realize he is not going to be the quarterback. Well, I mean, I'm planning to play a couple of times and actually in person. And Aegis seems to me like he's the best athlete on the field and he could catch at all and he's got good size and I just think he would be a better fit that way but listen, I'm not the coach Saban is and I'll hang up and listen. Thank you very much. Interesting idea in case Sabin is listening. Joe is up next in Georgia. Hello, Joe. Hey Paul, how's it going today? We are doing great. Right now. Yeah, I am. I get back to London. I mean, just the thought of him just being able to spit that out is a little concerning that he already has a plan of how to take you off and you never be seen again. Are you a little concerned about that? I'm not concerned for this reason. I don't plan on being in the same county with him ever again. That's a good, good choice, probably. I mean, when he started the day, I thought, man, Larry doesn't sound like he's been into the booze as quite as much they actually kind of understanding. Didn't need the words to top up to explain what he was saying. But then he went off on a tangent. He went from the quarterback at Alabama to Georgia is no good. I don't know how I was trying to follow him and then he just jumped over and was like, George is no good. They got an easy schedule, blah, blah, blah. Sounds like he's a little concerned that Georgia might do it again. Yeah, I think he's more than concerned, Joe. And listen, I don't have any doubt. Nick Saban is a phenomenal recruiter, but Larry was trying to sell us on the third string quarterback. I mean, Georgia should be a little concerned too now. I mean, we don't have a set quarterback either, but I guess I think Georgia has Georgia has three quarterbacks that I think are all capable of playing. Oh, yeah. I agree with you, but we still don't know who that one is going to be on starting day, for sure. Well, we are pretty sure. Hey, thank you for the call. Logan is in Arkansas. Hello, Logan. Good afternoon. What's up, Paul? How are you doing? We're doing great. So I don't know if you remember me call another day but I called and we got into talking about top 5 quarterbacks and Nancy, so we're going to be starters this next up from the season. Yeah, I remember that call. Okay, well, I have a top 5 step. And I think that this should be taking consideration. Spencer radler is still in the SEC. Can you probably be my number one? Okay. Number two is more than likely Jackson to art. But he could be replaced by Spencer Sanders, too. Logan, maybe I need to stop you here. You're telling us that you think Jackson dart is the second best quarterback in the SEC. Yes. Yes, I do. Okay. Are you any chance? Are you related to Jackson dart? No, no. Okay. Keep going. Why do you think he's not? You think KJ? I just wanted to make sure you said that. Who else you got in your list? Devin Leary. That's an interesting one. I think you may be right on that one. Will Rogers at number four? Okay. And then number 5 will be Brady cook from Missouri. Okay. And no DJ, no. You could replace mighty cook with Jay Lemire from Alabama. Okay. Well, there you go. You got it. You'll be sitting here tomorrow. With that list, we take a break.

"Andy first of all, it's a good to have you on and a lot to talk about. We got spring games, galore. We've just ended a couple of seasons. I want to ask you about something that you wrote about this week and I think a few freeze mentioned it. He'll be on later in the week to talk about it as well, is the idea of doing something more with these scrimmages, which used to be really exciting and we all were glued to them and now a lot of us are yawning on the Saturday afternoons. Were we ever really that glued to the spring games? I defy that. See, I like it when Nick Saban's mic'd up during the spring game. That's fun. I can get into that as a viewer. But unless you are very into your team's depth chart, unless you wore our very interested in what's going on in the number two and number three spots in your team's depth chart spring games aren't necessarily the most entertaining thing for you. But I liked what you freeze says, hey, let's go play somebody. Every other sport has exhibition games. And I know you say, well, the bowl games are really. They count and stats that count the standings or they don't understand it, but they do count the stats. So why not have actual exhibition games? Now, you brought up auburn playing Troy, Alabama playing UAB. There's probably a little political freight to go with those particular matchups, but you could do that or also, let's say the SEC oh, I don't know. Added a conference game. And suddenly, you didn't have a spot for an FCS team that you wanted to play. Maybe an in state team you want to help out. Maybe your south Carolina and you wanted to play the Citadel or South Carolina state. Maybe there's a spot for that in the spring. And I still, I love the idea of Alabama bringing North Dakota state down because Nick Saban would absolutely love to watch North Dakota state starters wear out his backups so that he could spend the next four months saying, well, look what happened there. Look how hard you have to work. In Andy, I have to ask you about that, but let's say something crazy happens in one of these games. Is that now going to be held against the school when we get to the real season? Well, what do you mean crazy like the FCS team wins or somebody gets hurt because I've been at games where players have gotten I covered a Florida spring game years ago where Ronald Powell towards ACL and it's like, oh, good lord, this is the highest rated recruit in the history of recruits and he's looking to have a good season and now he's done. So it happens. There is an injury risk, but the losing the game thing, I actually think it's probably I'll bring up my South Carolina Citadel example again because that happened a few years ago where beat South Carolina, if they beat you in the spring, it's probably not as bad as if they beat you in the fall. Just spit ball in there. Andy, on that subject, if you ever looking for a rainy day column, call me because I'll try not to spend too much time on this. But we were doing SEC nation. That was the off week. There was nowhere to go. It was, as you can imagine, and I don't remember what happened. But somebody who was supposed to, by the way, the game was scheduled for the SEC alternate channel. I mean, it's not like, you know, prime time. And they asked me at the last minute, is there any chance you could hang around and be the sideline reporter? And I said, really? And they said, you know, don't ask real questions either. Just, you know, good game coach. I want you breaking down the triple option, Cole cubic style in a game like that. That's what I need to see. So we spent a three hour meeting the night before talking about all the things that we would be talking about after the game was a blowout. And senator was ahead at halftime, so I'm out to go interview the Citadel. I don't remember his name. Coach Higgins. Okay. The year before, Citadel had played FSU and a game. And I was on SportsCenter and I said, this is, why is FHA playing a joke of a team like the Citadel? If I walk up to the guy and I'm expecting, he goes, I said, coach, first half, what do you think? I mean, like, blew me off like I was. He had never forgotten that. So when I had to go interview him after the game, I can't tell you how the guy just won the biggest game of his life, and he barely gave me the time of day. And it was a very forgettable experience. So thanks for bringing up Citadel in South Carolina. That was spur last season, I believe. I believe he'd already resigned at that point. He may have seen what was coming. So yeah, I apologize for that. And as it actually was, I believe it was Mike Houston, and here, Kevin Higgins had already retired at that point. So that is, yeah, bad memories. And look, you know, like my Alma mater got beat by Georgia southern in 20 13 when Georgetown was still in the FCS. It happens, but I like Hugh freeze his idea of having and actually competitive situation because a lot of times, especially with the way the rosters are going, if you're a first year coach, you may be in the middle of a roster flip where before you even got there, everybody entered the portal. And now you're dealing with a really thin roster. So you're not going to be able to have a full full on 11 on 11 scrimmage with regular football rules and everybody hates the weird adjustments to the rules or the defense gets 8 points for an interception or something like that. So this would be more fun. It would allow the players to hit somebody else. You can change it up however you want as you freeze pointed out. You can control it however you want. You can make the quarterbacks off limits. I just think it'd be fun. If nothing else, LSU southern the concert at halftime and postgame. Human jukebox, golden band from tigerland, let's just make that happen. Get everybody else. Let's just make that happen. Well, it may be happening right now since you're one of the most important voices in the game and you're talking about it. So in terms of this spring, to get to what to really going on, not the games, but the battles and the coaching stories. What intrigues you the most right now? The Alabama quarterback situation, what's Alabama's offense? It's going to look like new offensive coordinator and Tommy Reese. Tyson and Jalen milrow two different styles of quarterback. We got to see Jalen Miller starter gaming as Texas a and M last year. What will Alabama be? What will they look like? Because obviously they're always going to have very good players, but I feel like this is kind of the most mysterious they've been in a while where we didn't really know what they were going to look like. So fascinated by that, fascinated by the quarterback competition at old miss because you get a Spencer Sanders who was a four year starter at Oklahoma state coming in, but then you've got Jackson dart coming back, you've got walker Howard, who is Brian Kelly dance for this guy. That's how important he was as a recruited LSU. And now he's at old miss. So there's a lot going on. It's certainly not very settled in terms of quarterbacks in the SEC. You're in Gainesville and we don't have a week that goes by when somebody doesn't ask the billing Napier question. I probably asked you already the spring, but I'll keep asking you until we see what's going to ultimately happen down there with the Gators. What are you hearing? And what are you sensing? Well, it seems like they feel pretty confident in this team and this is a group that is more Billy Napier's group that he brought in and he saw a lot Lee through the portal after last season. A lot of the latter era Dan Mullen recruits left through the portal. So this will probably be a team with more of billion AP's identity. The question is, what's the offensive line going to look like? They want to run the ball and they certainly have the backs to do that with Montreal Johnson and Trevor Etienne. But they go in thinking they're going to have three returning offensive line starters. Well, Austin barber started a bunch too. So it really was like four returning offensive line starters. But then Michael tarquin and Ethan white decided to go to USC. So now they've got some younger guys, some guys that they brought in through the portal that they're trying to get figured out there. If that group turns out to be pretty good, this could be an offense that can gain a lot of yards on the ground. And you don't need Superman

"Day and a good afternoon to you while the SE the NCAA basketball tournament going on will update you, but there hasn't really been much to update. This afternoon, it's been a fairly desultory day, Kentucky playing in two hours. Let's get before we get back to the calls in a few minutes, so let's talk about some spring football, max. Olson joining us from the athletic. Always great to say hello to max. Thank you very much for the time. I know you've done been doing a lot of things, but a deep dive into some of the battles that we will all be seeing. During this frame max, thanks for the time. Appreciate it very, very much. We'll also talk about some college football alignment. Good afternoon, tell us, and I think some of them are pretty self explanatory with Ohio State, Georgia and Alabama, but give us the lay of the land on that front. Paul, thanks a lot. I think it's shaping up to be a pretty interesting spring and a bunch of big programs in terms of just the quarterback vacancies you have in a lot of them are obvious, right? Like you've got Carson Beck trying to succeed sets and benefit at Georgia and having to hold off broadband and grip and gunner Stockton and Alabama obviously Tommy Reese comes into situation where he's got to make a decision on Jaden Miller or Dale normer or ty Simpson and honestly I have two freshman coming in there too and sort of like what direction do they go in? Offensively between those two guys will miss on paper a super interesting one with Jackson dart Spencer Sanders and walker Howard and Florida is another one. They brought in Graham mertz interested to see kind of how can he take a step forward with a fresh start there, Florida, a bunch of these, you kind of wonder, will they shake out in the spring and maybe you see some of these players hit the portal in May if they don't win jobs? Yeah, that's always the fear. Max, let me start at Alabama because I mean, it's hard to remember. I think it was 20 15, maybe. The last time there was even a competition, I mean, there were, we've seen competitions there, but between future NFL quarterbacks, but last time there's been a competition when we weren't really sure how it was going to end up and once it ended up, what Alabama would have. I know they've got a 5 star in ty Simpson. We all saw milrow last year. What's happening there? Yeah, it's funny like Alabama is kind of the outlier of all cultural at this point to be able to go hurt to Mac to Bryce with like all those guys standing in the program and turning into NFL players like it's a pretty unreal run here and obviously the standard is super high in terms of who's taking that spot here going forward. Certainly you've got a good look at Jalen Miller last season. He had some moments like against Arkansas with the 77 yard run where you feel like, okay, he's a pretty different kind of athlete at the quarterback position for them and you feel like there's some really intriguing upside and that aspect, but certainly like the a and M game is the one that stands out in terms of maybe the development of the passer you just kind of see a lot of improvement over this off season that he's going to be the guy. You know, he was off target on 25% of his throws last season. According to media, which was one of the worst in the country among quarterbacks with three more than 50 passes. In terms of cutting down turnovers and tax and stuff like that, like he's just got to be ready for the pressure of this job and Tyson didn't get many reps last season, but you're very curious to see can he make this interesting and obviously when you have a new OC who didn't recruit either of them, then it's very fresh eyes on the situation. I'm not expecting this to happen, but assuming that we come out of spring in Alabama and Tommy Reese and Nick Saban are none too pleased with what they've seen, I realize you're having to speculate a lot, but could we see portal activity there? Yeah, you wonder, I mean, it's interesting at this point that Alabama hasn't taken a transfer quarterback. I talked to some SEC schools before last season who wondered if they were probably going to when Bryce went pro. And yeah, I'm sure, obviously, Tommy Reese landed Sam Hartman when he was at in entertainment then left to go to Alabama. I'm sure he probably wishes he had Sam Hartman. But it's hard at this point to really trust that there's going to be that kind of a better player out there in May. There really wasn't last year Gary bohannon and Emory Jones were still available. Maybe that was about it. So depending on how some of these other battles play out, yes, maybe there's a veteran quarterback in that would certainly, if they're looking at the market there, you'd be very interested in going to Alabama, but it's just hard to trust that that guy is going to be out there because so much of that activity happens in December so they can be midyear enrollees. Max Olsen with the athletic joining us, I don't want to go down everyone because you've alluded to that. But in terms of impact on not only the SEC championship at the national championship, what other battle or you watching that could make a significant impact and difference in this upcoming football season. Yeah. I mean, I think the Georgia was really interesting because Carson Beck is really like we did a study a month ago or so looking at the top 50 quarterback recruits from 2017 to 2020. And of all the guys that study out of 200 quarterback Carson Beck was the only guy who didn't start a game in his first three years and hasn't transferred. I mean, he obviously knows that this job is worth the wait and he's got a few more seasons of eligibility here. He really was patient and waiting for his turn and I'm just fascinated to see what is his feeling his upside in this Georgia offense because they just had such steady leadership from stats and over these past couple of years. I think that situation how that plays out over the course of the spring because Brock van Gogh is a really talented quarterback and maybe that's the kind of player that at the end of the spring if it feels like it's best job, you wonder are some of those backups going to consider is it time for me to move on? I think that's a competition that's really interesting and Beck is obviously one you'd expect to be the favorite. And then old myth, I mean just could see that playing out a bunch of different ways because they brought in three talent really talented guys into their room. Max just looking at the national scene, it seems like Georgia doesn't seem like Georgia will be the preseason favorite. How would you stack it after that? Because it has been relatively predictable in recent years. The only difference may be Alabama. So take us through your basic view of what the top 5 would look like after Georgia. That's a great question. I mean, I think there's certainly going to be there's always optimism at this time of year about a Ohio State just in terms of the pieces that they have coming back on paper. You're going to feel even though they have to figure out their quarterback situation to have the best receiver in the country market comparison coming back and training on Henderson. You're always going to feel like you kind of tensile them in as a playoff team just on paper.

"And welcome back and really great to say hello to Brad Crawford from 24/7 as he looks ahead way too early order of finish and a preview of the upcoming college football season. It's never too early. It was spring practice opening around various camps. Some will come as the month of March unfolds. Brad, great to have you back with us. Thanks so much. Always good to have you on and I know some of this is pretty obvious. But tell us what you've dug up here as you are doing what all fans want to do and let's look ahead to the upcoming season. Yeah, thanks for having me, Paul. It's hard to believe Georgia won its second straight title only a few weeks ago and here we are talking about spring practice, but 2023 season has unofficially begun. I'm looking forward as an SEC media member to just see several of these cornerback competitions. We have the obvious one at Alabama between Jalen Miller. Ty Simpson with Notre-Dame OC Tommy Reese coming in there. We have an interesting situation at old miss with Jackson the incumbent for lane kiffin and now he's being pressed by Oklahoma state transfer Spencer Sanders, who's a four year starter in the big 12, by the way. And there are several others too. So I'm looking forward to seeing if any of these quarterback situations get solved over the next few months. Yeah, you mentioned the one at all mess and that's a good one just to dig into because everyone loves what lane kiffin has in that quarterback room and there's another one that dropped by as well. How do you think that will play out? Yeah, it seems like the writing is on the wall for Jackson dart to sort of lose his job this spring if he doesn't have a good 15 practice and then play well in the spring game there it'll miss. Obviously Spencer Sanders has a ton of numbers he's a guy with I think 85 or more touchdown passes out Oklahoma state ran a similar offense under Mike Gundy for the cowboys in the big 12 and he's the guy who is a plug and play and in the transfer portal call, especially at quarterback, you have to get someone who get there in early and early during the spring can instantly come into your quarterback room and give you QB one reps. And I don't think there's any kind of offense issues that spinster sand is going to have to learn. He's a guy who lane kiff and hand pick also have walker Howard there. So the O miss quarterback room for the next couple of years, especially 2023, is set in stone and if I'm Jackson dort, facing some pressure here going into spring practice. Another quarterback room that is interesting because it seems like it's been forever since there has been a debate. I guess the last time was literally when Alabama had Jalen hurts and to a tongue of our love, but what do you make out of the Alabama situation where they need to pick the right quarterback? That's the biggest key, taking the right quarterback. Tommy Reese is ultimately going to have that decision alongside Nick Saban. Things Jalen Miller and Paul showed us several times last fall that he's a dual threat guy. Maybe he's not as polished as a passer as bam was offensive staff would like to see right now, but he's going to get a chance. I think Melrose is going to enter Alabama spring practice as QB one and Tuscaloosa, ty Simpson based on the sources outspoken to there. He's a guy who obviously has a howitzer for an arm. And he's a former 5 star guy that Nick Saban knew would be an eventual store in Alabama. And I think it was very interesting is Saban was obviously confident in his quarterback room because he did not tap the transfer portal to get a Sam Hartman or someone like that, spends for Sanders. Those guys went elsewhere. So I think Sabin likes the two guys that he's going to sort of unleash during the spring and if I'm a betting odds maker right now, I go Jalen muro but ty Simpson is not far behind. Brad Crawford with us from 24/7. Brad, a lot of our guests at this point, a lot of people have varying opinions. Have surprised me because I mean, I can't remember the last time, even when LSU had Joe burrow that someone dared go against Alabama, but you seem to be holding holding firm right now in terms of picking the SEC west. Give us your reasoning why Alabama over LSU. Yeah, I think both of those teams right now have comparable rosters, but I'm just not sure LSU with pressure this time around is going to be able to put together an encore performance that's better than last year sending for finish. Jayden Daniels back in the back, they have Garrett nuss Meyer. He's a guy who might even press Jaden for some quarterback one honors. Now you have Harold Perkins, former financial linebacker who is my FrontRunner for STT preseason player of the year. However, you still have to go through Alabama to win the west. We've seen Nick Saban lose the SEC west before, come back the next season with a vengeance. I think a lot of us myself included were maybe too high on Alabama last season. I know we spoke at SEC media days last July and everybody assumed bamboo was going to be 15 and the greatest team on paper that we've seen in a decade plus and that just didn't happen. So I think you're going to see a motivated bunch in Tuscaloosa and as we see in the past as a dangerous scenario when Nick Saban has actual bullets and board material that he can feed into that crimson tide. Yeah, and Brad, most of that hype was coming from there because people close to that program said flat out. This might be, of course, we hear that a lot this might be Nick Saban's best team. And there was no reason not to buy into it. And I think when the draft comes around in 8 weeks, we'll start to look back and when there's an Alabama player taking one and maybe three will go what happened. But let me move on to Georgia. I think it's a foregone conclusion. They're the favorite to win the SEC, but the Bobo hire has drawn a lot of ire from some of our callers and our guests. How did you view it and do you think it's enough to keep Georgia from winning a third national championship? Yes, to me, it looks like Kirby smart sold has come. It may be a year and a half ago when Todd munk and his former OC first owned flirting with some of those open NFL positions, I think that's when he brought on Mike Bobo from auburn to be an analyst in Athens. And he just sort of shoehorned him in, like you said, to that OC role. I think Toyota is going to be fine based on how easy that schedule is, I was talking to some of the other day and I don't even think George is going to play a top 25 opponent until they go to Knoxville in November. So we're going to see a Georgia team that's really not battle tested to the first 8 to ten weeks of the season outside of maybe the gamecock game early against South Carolina between the hedges, but Jordan the team that right now is obviously no longer flying under the radar with back to back national titles and entering 2023 with the nation's longest winning strength, but the quarterback room right now is a question Carson bank was QB two behind steths and bat last year. I think he's the guy who's going to assume first team reps, but man, if anything goes wrong during spring camp or maybe he's not as good as advertised. As George is probable starting quarterback, then obviously brought Vande Griff another 5 stars. They're loaded there. He's a guy who's probably going to get some reps and get a chance to. I still like Georgia coming out of the SEC as a guaranteed layoff thing. Brad, before

I've been an absolute blast and we talk with Matt stitch coming our previous segment about SEC front 7s, SEC defensive lines, pass rush, offensive lines being able to hold up, and we're used to it feels like Roman every single team having that guy, that dude, or either both on different sides, two guys, whether it's Simmons and sweat at Mississippi state, whether it's Brown and Davidson at auburn last year, Anderson Turner at Alabama, Dallas Turner will be back. He would be one of those guys for me. It doesn't feel as plentiful on the defensive side. We were talking about front 7s of guys that can just wreck a game plan as it usually does in the southeastern conference going into 2023. No, you don't. It's probably this big explosion of what we've seen offensively. Offenses are continued to dominate the SEC that if you can't score, you won't win and nor will you win if you don't have a quarterback as well. So quarterback and being able to put up points is at a premium right now and cause football, especially throughout the SEC. When me and you play, I mean, if you got like 17 points, you had a chance. That was a threshold. And so if you were able to get a kick and I could make a kick and score two touchdowns. You might have a chance of this shot. You get a turnover, there you go. Now, who are your guys? No Perkins is one of those guys. We've talked about them a couple of times today. You can line them up anywhere. You can rush the passer off the edge. You can play off the ball linebacker sideline to sideline. I think Matt house does a nice job using him in different ways. But mason Smith is going to be back to you. He's a completely game changer. The reason why LSU was not good at stopping the run was because they did not have it. The reason I call mason Smith Vince McMahon first round draft pick. Because when you see him, he's a guy that you say, if Vince McMahon saw that guy, he would get him a contract, a little bit ring right now. His makeup, you almost don't believe it. He looks like the big show walking out, you know? That's what the music he should come out with. And then Michael Williams, he is going to be freshman from Georgia. He's on my list. Dallas turn is another guy. Love him too. Smile is a super athletic linebacker who's going to be really good at the next level because he's able to play a lot more coverage as well. I think how they might have that guy back in the middle of this year. No, because been a few years since they've had that dominant inside presence, you give jahi Modis an entire off season to get ready where the difference on campus. It was all about shedding weight, got down to 360 ish, which he talked to their nutritionists there. He's 360 and has the best lean body mass of anybody that she's ever counted, which is completely insane. So you think about all of that, there's just there's not a ton of guys. When you just go top to bottom and look at past rushers and into your defensive lineman that can wreck things. Even a safety plan down in the box, we don't have a lot of those guys. So it leads you to believe the defenses might not be as good, but then all these new coordinators, all these, how many big boy quarterbacks we got coming back next year. As you know, who's going to be that guy that comes out and just snatches everybody's opinion away, say, okay, who's going to be the Joe burrow and just come out and say, all right, I thought he was good, but I didn't know he was great. And for me, right now, I don't have that person picked out. The quarterback I love is Will Rogers. Fantastic. But I don't know how much the offense could look like. Yeah, I don't know how great they're going to be as a team, so he might not get all the love that he truly deserves. You think about who's a great spot. Jackson dart is coming back. Yes. Has his office according to his head coach back. We don't even know if he's going to start. No. Spitzer Sanders coming in. They brought in like three other quarterbacks. Jaden Daniels is another quarterback that if he's healthy, he finds his groove early in the season. You're really going to love what they can do because of all the success can carry over from last year. I think Daniel's in the best spot. Can you talk about weapons back O lineback coordinator din Brock's back? They've got maybe the most things together to be able to help him be successful. It's going to be fun to watch. It's going to be fun to talk to former NFL great Charles peanut Tillman. On the other side of the break, we'll do that. When we come back right here on the Paul fine bomb show. "Let me first, I somehow missed the Travis died transferred to Oregon until I read this couple in a couple of days ago when you posted it on Patreon and I'm like, Travis, I went to USC that's unbelievable. So good for him. Here are the college quarterbacks I'm excited to watch this fall. Keaton slovis at Pittsburgh is going to be awesome. Can not wait for him. I think Keenan slow this got kind of a raw deal with what happened at USC. He got hurt he lost his job, they got a new coach, whatever. He went somewhere, he was wanted, where they got a good offensive line, a good team around him, and I'm excited to watch Keaton's love as a Pittsburgh a lot. You mentioned it, I'll repeat them. See just drought at Ohio State. It's going to be awesome, Bryce young and Alabama, Caleb Williams at USC for sure. I think he's the best quarterback in college football, frankly. Will levis at Kentucky. Sure. It's funny both quarterback from Oklahoma last year went to a version of USC. Cable Williams went to Southern California and spends a rattler went to the other USC, South Carolina. I can not wait to watch Spencer Rattler play at South Carolina. Like him against SEC competition. Is going to be fascinating. I can not wait to watch that. You also got Sam Hartman at wake forest. He's good and fun. And I mean, I don't mean to no homo here, but Sam Hartman's gotta be like the most attractive quarterback in college football. If there was an award for that, that guy, he would win it. Then he got Dylan Gabriel, Oklahoma, Tyler Van Dyke, Miami. Got some possibilities here. I'm excited to watch JJ McCarthy at Michigan is really interesting. I think he could beat out kade McNamara, Clemson's going to have either DJ. We on the lay or cade club Nick be they're starting quarterback. That'll be interesting. I think Jackson dart's gonna start it all miss. Texas got queen ewers coming from Ohio State transferring in. I'm excited, man. Football in general this year is going to be unbelievable. The NFL is going to be, I think, an all time year, and college football has so many storylines and quarterbacks and moves and apparently colleges can enter the transfer portal now. Like, I can not wait at all. To watch football this fall, it's going to be really fun and we're only like a month and a half out. I gosh, man, I can not wait for football season. It's going to be unbelievable. And oh man, it's kind of overwhelming how much good football there's going to be going on this fall. By the way, that gives me an opportunity to say this, I want to, I didn't want to throw this into the episode, but it's not in my notes.

"I'm very excited to watch JK or next year in college football. I have three honorable mentions. Dylan Gabriel is a transfer from Central Florida to Oklahoma. It's going to be interesting there. Quinn ewers, the transfer from Ohio State to text, this is interesting. He could start at Texas and he actually got Casey Thompson to leave. No one wanted to compete there. It seems like he's the next quarterback in Texas. I'm excited to watch that. And cade club Nick, the he's going to be a freshman at Clemson. Could start as a freshman. They need a quarterback at Clemson. DJ we on lay was kind of a bus last year and I am hopeful. We'll see. Cade club Nick and Quinn ewers. I don't know if they're gonna play. I will see what happens, but they are guys who could start immediately next year after getting to new school, whether clean air is transfer, cade club Nick as a freshman, they could start immediately next year. And I just don't know how to judge them. I don't know where to put them on this list, but there are guys, I'm definitely excited to watch that are on my radar for next year in college football. So right in let me know your quarter. Who did I leave off the list? Who are you excited to watch next year and college football? What quarterbacks do you think of NFL potential that I maybe did not mention? Let me go back to the list. It is keyed in Slovaks. Can't wait to watch the guy. Caleb Williams, Jackson dart, Spencer Rattler, Bryce young, CJ Stroud. Then you have J caner, cam rising and bone nicks. I think that's all 9. One more time. Kid in slovis. I should have counted it. Caden slovis, cam rising, J caner, Caleb Williams, Spencer Rattler, Jackson dart, cam rising, bone nicks, and bright sung CJ Stroud. I don't know. I feel like I left someone out or said, what am I doing? I don't know. Anyway, enjoy next year in college football. I can not wait and I'm gonna have to cut that out. I definitely not leaving that in the breakout. Me like trying to count and failing horribly, probably saying Bryce young's name like four times. Anyway, I love you. I appreciate you that is all I have for today's episode. And to have a great day, but I'm bummed, bam, we are done..

"Big moments. And do you believe in yourself? I thought we saw moments with Patrick Mahomes in the AFC championship game against Cincinnati to end their season. In the second half, we're Patrick Holmes looked like he was his confidence was shaken and his entire decision making paradigm was actually a little off kilter. Cam rising is going to have that problem. Cam rising is very, very stable and steady. And I'm very very excited to watch this guy next year. At Utah. The number 7 quarterback I can't wait to watch next year in college football. Is bow nicks. He has transferred from auburn to now he is in Eugene at the university of Oregon. Here is the story with Bowen nicks. Can he elevate himself to become a top level quarterback and become an NFL quarterback? He's really talented. He can run. He's a big dude. He's got all the physical traits required. And if he has a really great year at Oregon, I think he could skyrocket and just massively jump up the charts. The same way actually Joe burrow did in 2019 with LSU. There's potential here for a really big opportunity where he could just impress a ton of people. And maybe turn himself into a first round pick. So keep your eye on bone nicks. I am very curious if he will reach his goals at Oregon, but I think he needed a change. I think that he's going to play with maybe some better more talented athletes around him and I'm just very, very interested and excited to see how Boeing does this fall at the university of Oregon. Number 8 is Jackson dart. Jackson art another USC quarterback. Dude, USC and Oklahoma had just a glut. I just a crazy amount of talent at the quarterback position last year. He is transferring from USC to the university of what is it? I guess old miss. I don't actually know. Is it university Mississippi? Is it I don't know how I don't actually know the official name of illness other than I call it all miss the rebels. I wish I knew that. I feel weird that I don't know that. Anyway, he did not want to compete with Caleb Williams. I can not blame him. The minute it felt like, hey, Caleb Williams is going to transfer to USC..

"Okay, three, two, one. Oh. My goodness. Good morning, good afternoon. Whatever it is for you, I hope you're having a fan passed a day. My name is Zach shameer. It's a strong opinion sports episode 400 and 43. A lot of stuff to talk about today. Good stuff pretty much all good stuff, actually. A lot of good stuff happening in the sports world. Let's start today with a piece of news that is small granular, but worth acknowledging briefly is that USC quarterback Jackson dart has entered the transfer portal. Now, I kind of feel bad for the guy because he waited until the last moment and now he's got to figure out where to go and who wants him, where could he go? Where can you try to get playing time? It's a hard, hard journey for him ahead because now he's really talented. He's an NFL quarterback, I'd like to see him, frankly, anywhere, like the SEC, somewhere big in the Big Ten. I don't really know. I don't know where he's going to go. I have no idea. Some people suggest BYU. He's from Utah. I think he's actually better, like more talented than a BYU. I think he really is like an NFL quarterback, but we also saw Zach Wilson go to BYU and become the number two overall pick. So that's an interesting thought. Now, Jackson dart aside, he's really, really good. He's a planted Keenan Slovak as his starting quarterback at USC. The thing that I think everybody heard this news and thought was it basically almost guarantees that Caleb William C former Oklahoma quarterback is heading to you as CEO Caleb Williams was there. I saw on his Instagram story he was at a Laker game the other night. He visited USC over the weekend. He played four Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma last year. And Caleb Williams might be look, he is probably the most talented quarterback in all of college football, like he's a future in my opinion number one overall pick he reminds me a lot of Kyler Murray and Jalen hurts maybe combined talent wise like he can run with power, he's got a great arm. He can move. He can do whatever he wants with the football. He's amazing. And him at USC. Sounds fun. Sounds exciting. I'm just kind of waiting for that news to come out, but you know Jackson darts a really good college quarterback. And I think one of the only people that could transfer in and caused Jackson dart to leave is Caleb Williams. So something happened there, and I'm just kind of waiting for that news to pop at some point very, very soon..

"Ridley, financially, can't afford to take the rest of your off, I guess. And so good for him. And I hope he figures that out, man. Look, depression, oh, it's a horrible, horrible thing. And you can't really explain it unless you've been through it. And so or even understand it, let alone, I can't even describe it really, but I can tell you how awful it is. And I just feel for Calvin Ridley because there's no good answer there. It's just a painful awful thing that he's got to figure out and get his head right for himself. And I don't think he'd be able to perform without getting had to write first. Nevin writes in it's a long one. Hey Zach, I love your show. Is it helps me get through my workday. So thank you for that. Anyways, I'm a huge SE fan and you've mentioned it cadenced over a few times and even had them on for an interview. Before the year started, he was viewed as a potential first round pick. And a couple of years ago, he's even viewed as a potential number one overall pick. This year has been an absolute mess. He lost his head coach his offensive line is almost nonexistent, and now he's splitting in game reps of his backup who looks really good by the way. Jackson dart. Oh, and he also lost, Drake London, who's been absent monster all year. What are your thoughts on him and his future? Should he transfer and play another year? Should he skip the last year and enter the draft? A lot of SEC fans have turned their backs on him, but I still believe he can be a great and if a quarterback, especially now since he's most likely going to be a later round pick. So we'll go to a better team with a better piece around him. I apologize that this may be way too long as you can tell, this is something I'm passionate about. Thanks so much. Keep up the great work. So it's definitely an interesting conversation. Should it be, should you go to NFL as a late round pick and.
