Body-cam footage shows indicted ex-police officers laughing at man who died in their custody
"Authorities in Jackson, Mississippi have released body cam footage that shows several police officers joking. After they repeatedly used a taser on a black man who died in their custody. It begins as a trespassing call at a Jackson Mississippi hotel on New Year's Eve. Can you understand me? Don't put your hand back here. It ends with the death of key muriel. Officers are seen struggling to get both of his hands in handcuffs. And he's zapped repeatedly with a taser. And deprived of medical attention for about an hour. The three officers are charged in his death, but that night they joke about the incident. Strong as an ox. One officer describes this struggle as funny at first, and then says it got annoying. But it was funny, and Mississippi grand juries indicted two of the former police officers on murder counts and another on a manslaughter charge. I'm Jackie Quinn

Biden releases new strategy to tackle rise in antisemitism, says 'hate will not prevail'
"The White House has unveiled a new 100 step government blueprint for fighting violence and discrimination directed at Jewish people in America. Noting an alarming rise in the country. Vanished semitic incidents are at a record high. President Biden is outlined more than 100 steps, government, business, and community leaders can embrace to counter bias and hate. Their centered around increasing awareness of anti semitism, improving security for Jewish communities, reversing the normalization of anti semitism, and building solidarity across communities. At last week's reception, marking Jewish American heritage month. The president said there's an increase in physical violence and intimidation. US study finds 1 in 10 get long COVID after omicron, starts identifying key symptoms
"A new study finds about 10% of people who had the omicron variant of COVID-19 have symptoms of long COVID, but it's a smaller number than originally thought. New research published in the journal of the American medical association studied nearly 9000 adults who had COVID-19 and compared them with those who hadn't been infected. At first, it looked like one in three were getting long COVID. But once more patients were added and the symptoms could be tracked in real time, it looks more like one in ten still had symptoms after 6 months. The national Institutes of health is working to better understand why some people develop long-term debilitating health issues. And others make full recoveries. About a dozen symptoms are found in long COVID, including fatigue, brain fog, stomach, or heart issues, loss of smell or taste, sexual problems, and chronic cough. I'm Jackie Quinn.

Taking a daily multivitamin appears to boost brains of adults over 60, but more study is needed
"A new study shows taking a daily multivitamin, may boost memory function in some people. But the research is not comprehensive enough to warrant a broad recommendation. Researchers at Columbia University and Brigham and women's hospital tracked more than 3500 people over the age of 60 for several years, some got a multivitamin. Others got a dummy pill, and they were tested online for memory function. Given a list of 20 words, after a year, participants who took the daily vitamins had better memory function, recalling 7.81 words, while those with the placebo improved to 7.65 words. The study leader says multivitamins may work by providing micronutrients that can enhance function of the hippocampus, an area in the brain that controls learning and memory. U.S. dietary guidelines lean against vitamin supplements, recommending nutrients be obtained through food. Researchers say more memories study is needed. I'm Jackie Quinn

DeSantis launches GOP presidential campaign in Twitter announcement plagued by glitches
"Florida's Republican governors announced that he's officially a candidate for president, but the announcement didn't go exactly as planned. Republican governor Ron DeSantis launched his campaign in a special Twitter space's feed. Criticizing President Biden. He lacks vigor, flounders in the face of our nation's challenges, and he takes his cues from the woke mob. But there were technical problems that led to start and stops, audio glitches, and a delay of nearly half an hour. Desantis was asked why he chose Twitter instead of traditional media. He compared it to his COVID lockdown opposition, lamenting a lack of free expression. You had to put your money where your mouth is. Even that was marred by an audio glitch. This is rivals were rough. Donald Trump tweeted the desantis Twitter launch is a disaster. His whole campaign will be a disaster. And Nikki Haley's campaign also called it a failure. Biden, McCarthy to meet Monday for debt ceiling talks as default deadline looms
"President Biden and House speaker Kevin McCarthy are due to speak face to face. After a telephone conversation on how to reach an agreement on averting a U.S. default. House speaker Kevin McCarthy says he did have a productive call with President Biden. They spoke as the president was returning from the G 7 summit in Japan, where he had to reassure world leaders. Default is not an option. Biden says, despite GOP complaints, he has compromised and introduced ideas to raise revenue. Much of what they've already proposed is simply quite frankly unacceptable. But conservative Republicans, like congressman Jody arrington, who spoke on ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos, says the government spending patterns need to change. We have to get back to pre COVID pre inflationary spending. We've got to rightsize and rein in this bureaucratic bloat. Treasury secretary Janet Yellen says it looks like the debt limit will be reached somewhere around June 1st, where the U.S. won't have the funds to meet its obligations. Biden: GOP must move off 'extreme' positions, no debt limit deal solely on its 'partisan terms'
"The president of the United States and the Speaker of the House are expected to speak directly about ways to avert a looming government default. President Biden before leaving the G 7 gathering in Japan focused comments on the debt ceiling showdown, saying Republicans are wrong when they claim that he's not willing to negotiate spending cuts. You put forward a proposal that cuts spending by more than a $1 trillion. And the president proposed instead of cutting Medicaid, reduced corporate tax breaks. I'm not going to agree to a deal that protects, for example, $30 billion tax break for the oil industry. On ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos, House budget committee chair, Jody arrington, says this is about cutting spending going forward. We have to get back to pre COVID pre inflationary spending. We've got to rightsize and rein in this bureaucratic bloat. It's estimated the U.S. could exceed its borrowing limit by June 1st. South Carolina moves closer to abortion ban, a Southern trend that puts pressure on Virginia
"Another southern state appears ready to pass tighter new restrictions on abortion access, joining about a dozen other localities in the south. The South Carolina House of Representatives just passed a near ban on abortion access after 6 weeks before many women even know they're pregnant, and the state Senate will likely take a vote next week. It was one of the few places left in the south for those seeking abortions. With North Carolina lawmakers this week, overriding the governor's veto of their 12 week ban, which will now take effect July 1st. Doctor Erika pettigrew is disappointed. Really devastating to have a patient in front of you who needs something that you could clearly give, but the lawmakers tell you that you can't. She says she's been helping out of state women get abortion care and now she'll be helping her own patients to other states. "Contract who's worth was put by knowledgeable sources at $1.7 million. You know, they're paying offense and defensive coordinators today. That much. Well, I think Kevin Steele shattered that easily going back to Alabama a couple of weeks ago. Which brings me to the bigger question. And I've been talking to you about this for almost 40 years and you have been telegraphing where we are, you mentioned in the 80s about expansion in the SEC and where and the super conferences and you've been so where are we right now? I know that's a broad question, but a lot of people like us who've been around a while don't like what they're seeing. Well, where we're headed because the NCAA I'll go three or four things, but the NCAA had a chance to head off to NIL in my opinion. They refused that. And then the vote came down 9 zero in the Supreme Court. So where we are now, there's no guardrails on the NIL. There's no guardrails basically on transfer. You can say what you want to. There's got to be contact. And there is contact in transfer. But then I feel where we're going because a television, we're going to NFL model. Which means that we'll have each west and we'll have divisions in those east west and we'll end up we have a 12 game playoff. So we'll end up with a 12 game playoff for the national championship, but college football will separate from the NCAA and we'll have a commissioner just like the NFL and it'll be teams that will make a commitment to better themselves in college football. That means the stadium that means the support. So right now you have UCLA and USC going to travel all the way across the country to Finn state and play are somewhere else and what will happen if we when we go to the east west, then they will be playing people in the west side of the country that will afford our can afford our will make a commitment. Now we'll teams will universities like rice, our universities like Vanderbilt are even Stanford, make the commitment or to be in that circle. So I'll take will end up, you know, with 48 to 60 teams that will be in the NFL bottle. Coach talking to coach Jackie Sheryl coach COVID changed a little bit because it brought the anticipation and the excitement back. But as you know, attendance has been a big concern of athletic directors. And I think it still is when you consider everything that goes into having to go to a game and the travel and the time, how concerned are you that the prices of tickets and what it costs to get tickets and all the money donors have to give to everything connected to NIL are eventually going to turn people off. I mean, they're turning some people off, but where is this going? Well, I don't know if the term Polish turn off. I think it will that you just can't continue to give. Is that matter how much money you have? A point and I have two or three former players that give upwards in the ten to $20 million to a university. Well, you can't give continue to give that amount. So where do you go? The generations that we have meaning the younger, those are the ones that the athletic directors in the university's go to try to continue to support for the university. And. Very correct. And when you say that you get tired of it, you're not and I have some of my former players in some of the Friends that have said, okay, I've given to the NIL. I'm not giving you any more. So the university to keep the NIL moving have got to go to different people to in more people and spread it out. There is a great disadvantage in college football right now because of the NIL. I'll take Texas and Texas a and M because of the all money. They have a lot more money for the NIL than a Mississippi state would have already been a Mississippi. And on that subject because you know what it's like dealing with longhorns and you dealt with them quite well. During your tenure, you even beat them at Mississippi. What do you think that is going to mean to the SEC next year? We see Oklahoma show up and here come here come here comes the gang from Austin. Well, it means more to ESPN. You know, the whole thing, Paul, and this is my opinion now with Texas and Oklahoma coming in. Texas signed the Texas LongHorn network. And they signed a ten year contract 15 million a year, which is great. But the LongHorn network is kind of like the PAC 12 network. It didn't go. It didn't sell. And so here's ESPN. Which last year was the 5th year, so they still owe Texas 75 million date and the SEC approached Texas to join and I would say in my opinion that Texas said I'm not coming alone and that's how Oklahoma's got into the mix and so Oklahoma and Texas are going to the SEC, but you got to understand it's going to save if however the contract comes out. It's going to save ESPN 50 million because Texas will now longer have the Texas network. Yeah, the LongHorn network next year will be folded into everything else. You understand that culture and from this standpoint and I've seen you often at a and M games, it seems like Texas a and M has really fit in well to the SEC culture. What do you think or how do you think Texas will fit in? It's going to be a shock for Texas. Because they will no longer be the big dog on the street. They will have to understand very quickly that when they line up every Saturday, Saturday against Alabama or LSU or Florida or you don't know it's like planned Oklahoma. So it's not going to be easy to dominate the SEC. Like they dominated the big 12 per year. And what impact do you think it will have on the aggies who really showed the way for Texas and did quite well as a result across the

I didn't think she was going to be here. To help make this no, you see Jackie couldn't be there because you see, mister president Jackie passed away. In a car accident, back in August, something that everybody kind of knew, and by the way, given that you were there at this bipartisan event to end food insecurity and to take on the issue of obesity in America, given that this was so important to her, don't you think it might have known? She was dead, that she passed away. Tragically, in a car accident, and if you didn't know, I mean, didn't someone have the good sense to better prepare your staff? We know that your press person is not necessarily the brightest, smartest, most articulate person in the room and granted her job is basically to lie for the administration, but this watch as Karim Jean Pierre tries to spin her way out of this as the ABC. I believe she's ABC reporter keeps questioning her. What happened in the hunger event today, the president appeared to look around the room for an audience member, a member of Congress who passed away last month, he seemed to indicate she might be in the room. So what happened? So the president was, as you all know, you guys were watching today's event, a very important event on food insecurity. The president was naming the congressional champions on this issue and was acknowledging her incredible work. He had already planned to welcome the congresswoman's family to The White House on Friday. There will be a bill signing in her honor this coming Friday. So, of course, she was on his mind. She was on top of mind for the president. He looks very much looks forward to discussing her remarkable legacy of public service with them when he sees her family this coming Friday. He said, Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie? She must not be here. I totally understand. I just explained. She was on top of mind. You know, this was what we were able to witness today and what the president was able to lift up in this at this conference at this event was how her focus on wanting to deal with combat food insecurity in America. And this is something that he was lifting up and honoring. And again, he knows that he's going to see her family this coming Friday. There is a bill signing that's going to happen and renaming a VA clinic in Indiana after the late congresswoman. He knows that he is going to see her family and she was a top of mind. I feel robbed as a fan of the sport. I understand, but, you know, as I was talking about with Jess and with Ravi, Sarah, I just didn't think it was any chance he was going to have an opportunity to finish. What did you think? So there's certain things I consider my villain origin story. One of them being NFTs, the second one being roundabouts, and now Clayton Kershaw getting taken out before he got to finish a perfect game. I get it. I get it, but I'm still really butt hurt about it. You're on bitter boulevard about it. I am on bitter boulevard. And so the next one comes from Mitchell at tigers of Detroit, who were you more impressed with Wednesday. Kershaw or Vlad. Blatty. Kershaw was unbelievable, but for Vladimir Guerrero junior, he gets his hands spiked and is still go out there and hit his second and third home runs in that game. No wonder why Garrett Cole was tipping his cap toward him. Like, man, he is so good right now. He's the best hitter in baseball. I don't think there's any doubt about it. Next up, we have Calvin Harris. Hey buster, you may have seen the rapturous reception for Atlanta third base coach Ron Washington on opening night when his name was announced as part of the World Series celebration. What other position coaches are a particular fan favorite around MLB? Nobody like wash. I mean, think about washes legacy, you know, he was a player in the big leagues, but wasn't really that well known. I think the book Moneyball, when that came out, he's played such a prominent role in that and of course, when the movie came out, he was a character in that movie. And he was manager of the rangers. They make it to the World Series. They came within one David freeze, triple of winning the World Series. And all the attention he's gotten recent years for his great work with the Atlanta infielders. I don't think anybody's at that level among coaches. I think in the past, Dave Duncan would have been a guy you're going to get a lot of attention for his work with the Saint Louis Cardinals, but you don't see coaches get that type of a claim. And it's really cool because watch deserves it. Next up, we have Corey record. I'm so sorry if I mispronounced your name, Cory. What do you all think of an MLB relegation system like soccer uses? Not going to happen. You know, I've heard that Sarah and Corey have heard it too, but that would mean getting an owner to acknowledge that his team is not major league caliber and selling tickets. He becomes more problematic as you representing that's major league caliber. I mean, think about it. Their owners of teams that are tanking, willingly posting clubs with like $35 million payrolls and pretending that it's a major league product. There's no way that owners would agree to a relegation system. But it's a fair question. And lastly, we have Donald Gantz, what's up with Michael conforto? I'm not hearing anything about him. Does Scott have him overpriced? Are teams afraid of recent injury? Yeah, he's in a terrible situation. He was given a qualifying offer by the mets. He turned that down, which means he's attached to draft pick compensation. That's a problem. And then as Scott Boris agent is acknowledged, he heard his shoulder. That also is a problem. And now, if you're a team looking at him, you understand confronted is going to want a short term deal to get his value. And their teams that are not going to give up draft picks in order to make that happen. And, you know, one of the possibilities in the past would have been for a player in a situation to wait for the amateur draft to go by. And at that point, they freed themselves from draft pick compensation, but because of the change in baseball's calendar, the draft is now not till the middle of July. So he really is in a tough spot. I think the only real option for him to come back and play early this season would be if he were to agree to a really underpriced deal for one year and maybe that's the ticket he's going to have coming back. And that's it for bleacher tweets today. Be sure to submit your question using hashtag bleacher tweets and thank you so much. That's it for today. "Mendoza is an analyst for ESPN and Jess before we talk about Jackie Robinson day. Knowing you're interested in music, I thought this would interest you earlier in the week. We found out that our friend Sarah Abbott is named for the song Sarah by Fleetwood Mac, her sister is named for the song Amanda by Boston, and I told Sarah the other day. Like it's not even close. She got the cooler song over her older sister. What do you think? Oh, totally. I mean, I feel like Rhiannon needed to be in there somewhere too. Just throw in all the cool. That's awesome. It says a lot about Sarah's parents too. I'm all about classic rock. So Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Stevie mix is like, she's like one of my all time favorite artists ever. Okay, so you're going to be excited about that. But then you're going to be appalled by this. Sarah, before our conversation the other day in the podcast, had never looked at the lyrics of the song Sarah or listened to the song in the lyrics. How about that? What? Sarah? Defend yourself. I felt it would be narcissistic. And also, my sister, I kind of explained it a little bit. She would blast her song all the time. And so being the youngest, I'm like, I don't think I have any right to blast my song over her. But what it's like the song was about a serial killer named Sarah and you were like living your whole life, not even knowing your parents were like, maybe you have to. That was part of the fear. Okay. Okay, that makes sense. I didn't want to know. Very nice. All right. Jackie Robinson day to day. Jess, how did you find out about Jackie Robinson the first time? What do you remember how you went through that process? I grew up a Dodger fan, my favorite player of Sandy Koufax, and so that was a natural extension for me at age 8, 9 years old. What about for you? My dad. You know, he talked a lot about it's amazing. Roberto Clemente satchel page and Jackie Robinson were like three players that really, you know, he was born in 1939. So he got to see Jackie play and just the opportunity and the understanding for him being Mexican American, his family coming from Mexico, just understanding even then at a younger age, the importance of seeing color in a sport that he absolutely loves. I mean, he came from a huge baseball family. His dad and his grandfather played baseball professionally in Mexico and just how important the sport was, but then coming over to the U.S. and not seeing any color. Especially for him, even though the daughters were in Brooklyn. But as they made their way to LA, just knowing the history and the importance of Jackie Robertson, and then what that led to, because in our family Roberto Clemente was like, put on a pedestal, and then thereafter in the 80s when I was growing up, it was Fernando Valenzuela. And it all began with Jackie. And so just hearing the stories of my dad, you know, a lot of dads, I think, talk about the Mickey mantles and the Joe DiMaggio's and rightly so, but in our family, it was about Jackie Robinson. It was about satchel page, just how he'd throw a baseball and a replica mentee and what he meant to our entire community. Nice, nice. Yeah. I just love the fact that every year we have the conversation. And then that you know that there are new fans who are learning about Jackie Robinson for the first time and learning about his legacy. All right, I got a few things to run past. You show how tani last night gets lit up for the first time in his career. He allowed a home run on his split finger fastball on an O two pitch, so the 9th hitter for the Texas Rangers. And as of this morning, he has a 7 5 6 ERA and he's a one 72 batting average, and I'm sorry, but I'm attributing it directly to the shortened spring training. What about you? Yeah, I mean, definitely I think that's for sure part of it. We're seeing that even just with hitters kind of struggle out the gate and just figuring stuff out. But I mean, to me, I think Shohei Ohtani did something last year that set a standard and an expectation that is unreal. I mean, honestly, what Shohei Ohtani was able to accomplish last season. I'm not saying he can't repeat that, but I think there's also now just every time he takes the mound every time he's in the batter's box, we expect greatness beyond anything I think we've ever expected from a player. And guess what he's human? And that's what I saw I think more than anything is, you know, you're going to wake up some days and split might not be what it was yesterday and you were still working on stuff and your body might feel this way or honestly you just don't look at it. And that's okay. I think if we see this consecutively over the course of multiple starts and after we're a month and a half into the season, then it might be something different, but I think ultimately the expectation for show hands honey has never been higher..

"Old. He didn't have really have a history of injury. And that was based sort of on third time through. I don't know, buster, I hear you. It does make you wonder like, what if this was part of a 7 inning double header? And he completed the 7 innings that he had a perfect game. What's the discussion going to be like then? 80 pitches, selfishly, as a fan, a selfishly as a fan of Clayton Kershaw. I would have liked to see him go and try to complete the perfect game. Dave David Cohen brought up a great point to us and of course there'll be with Eddie and me and you on Sunday Night. When he was in that situation and was taken out, I think it was Joe Torre, who said, look, man, the only off ramp that I have is the 7th inning. If I allow you to go back out in the 8th innings and you throw 28 more pitches and you complete it without giving up a hit or a walk, I have to let you finish tonight. And then we've gone from 70 pitches, 75 pitches to a 130 digits. So that's an interesting kind of inside baseball take from a pitcher. It's my off ramp, the 7th inning. I would have liked to see him try. I would have and when we talk about this and Sunday Night, I covered that game for the times when David threw his perfect game. I've got stories from that day and that'll be a lot of fun to kick that around. All right, Carl, thanks for doing this. I'll see you at the ballpark. And I'm prepared for loud noises. You got it. I'll see you soon. Here's NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson talking about getting a chance to see Jackie Robinson play. When I lived in Indianapolis, I we really wanted to see Jackie Robinson perform. And he played us against the Cincinnati reds. And it was a marvelous scene so many people there who came out to see him play. And we set out in right field. I didn't realize that particular time. That's for all the black people said in Cincinnati. I see Jackie coming to play, you know, they clean this clips off, get that bad up and we've got them at half and there, you know, and he's watching it, watching that picture and all of us for the project is ready to sort of strike them. He dropped his batting a little bit boom. He swings away. And when it gets on base, man alive, he's up and down. He's getting that picture agitated. Getting the picture nervous because he breaks a little when he stops at a picture that's not what he's going to do. And all of a sudden, he's on a second. He face was just almost unreal until a point where people try to really try to hurt him. He took the blow for everybody, and I really appreciate him doing that for me. I face some things, but not like Jackie did. I walked him to the economics class at the university of Cincinnati. Walked in the door, professors said, what the hell are you doing here? To be honest, that was so naive. I looked around at white guys on the team that we had the same time. Who is this? Does he talk to you guys? He said, he's a no, I'm talking to you. He said, I was honored. I was told to take this class. I said, you know, I got. I don't have a choice. He's waiting. You're not going to pass this class. M and F I didn't feel empowered to do anything at all. And the thing about it. And I'm playing that average in 35 points a game, man, and he's saying, what have I been able to two or three points a game? It's what I mean. You know, when I would have heard of Roscoe Robinson whatsoever. In 1965, I became the head of the player the association has this president and the first black person to do that. In 1670 the money being made by athletes, and all of a sudden the Oscar raptor move came into effect. That says, if you're a free agent, you're a right to go to other teams. You have to write to decide your own future. I understand that I was not well liked by the NBA. But when the pendulum is always up here to the left, and the owners are holding it won't let us feed back and forth. Then you're going to have those things because they want to dominate. Jacket was very outspoken. He earned the right. And I think what happened with Jack is that a lot of people, white power positions, then I think it in Florida, by the young black people. White people as well. You know, they don't like that. But I think that what he went through to be thought of and revered forever. Jessica.

"Here's dusty baker, talking about Jackie Robinson's impact. I'm extremely proud and pleased to be here this afternoon, but must admit I'm gonna be tremendously more pleased and more proud when I look at that third base coaching line one day and see a black face managing in baseball. Thank you very much. That was my first year in the big leagues. My first full year. But I never saw myself ever wanting to coach. And at that time, you know, a third base coach was a no no, because that was supposed to be the thinking man's spot on the team outside of the manager. Goes back to what my mom and dad told me when I was a kid that if you're African American, you got to be twice as good to accomplish the same thing. I mean, that's pretty evident when if you don't win the whole thing, which is all they talk about, then you're made to feel as if you're a failure. And I refuse to let anybody make me feel that I'm less than anything than good at what I do. And I've lost a couple of jobs with no explanation, period. Instead of being bitter about it, it actually motivates me more because of what I was raised on and what my mom and dad instilled in me. You know, I was born two years after Jackie broke the color barrier and, you know, most African Americans at that time were Brooklyn, Dodger fans, because of Jackie. Cenk gave us a lot of pride about being black. And my dad, I mean, he idolized Jackie Robinson. My dad was a baseball coach in our town of riverside. He was big on attitude. And my dad cut me when I was 8, 9, and ten, 'cause he said I had a bad attitude and a bad temper and if I could take that positive direction that I could be something one day. And whenever I would get mad and get in a fight or whatever, my dad would say, and I got really kind of got tired of hearing him. My dad would ask me what would Jackie have done in that situation. He was very influential in my life as a kid. He was an inspiration to us all. No matter what race you are, and I remember it in the Jackie Robinson movie about how there was a little white kid that wrote Jackie and Jack and him became pen pals became friends. Well, that inspired me because I have about 15 or 20 kids now that are men of all nationalities and a lot of them are white that I think about Jackie influences one kid's life and then I just hope that I could be a small motivation to people of all nationalities and races to help motivate them and their kids. All the boys it's the Ravi train we're call rabbit. On baseball tonight. All rabbits play by play man on Sunday Night baseball, the rabbit train rolling into San Diego this weekend. He's going to be doing the game on ESPN radio on Saturday. And then on Sunday, Sunday Night baseball and Carl, you're going to be staying at the Omni, which is the hotel right across the street from the ballpark. And when I checked in yesterday, I had to sign a form and acknowledgment. It made me laugh, and I'm sure it will make you laugh as well. I had to sign a form to acknowledge that there were going to be loud noises within range of the hotel. Clearly, a lot of people have complained in the past about the loud noises in the hotel, which is literally across the street from the ballpark. So get ready for that. Is that like having the sign when you're going to a force until I celebrate you then there may be a lot of noises and bright lights in the sky be aware of that and you to celebration to see my work, but you were not sure exactly that there would be sound and light associated with it. Exactly. Like I said to the person to check me and I'm like, do people really complain and she smiled? She said, you wouldn't believe it. Like how many people complain about the loud noises coming from the baseball park right across the street. And one of the best atmospheres that we have in baseball, I'm looking forward to that. Are you going to have Ozzie? I'll be on the microphone, yes? Yep, all this got the baton and it seems to be something that's certainly the people at home love and I know that baseball players who have professed that when we were locked out, we want to come back. We want to do it for the sands. This is another iteration of a baseball player, you know, reaching out to the fans. And it has worked so well with Joey Votto. It worked tremendously. Last week, thankfully, kike Hernandez, as you balls it to him and we'll see with Ozzy Elvis, but it's a wonderful thing for the players to be willing to do it. I'm not sure there's a lot of folks doing things in their profession where they say, sure, I'll wear a microphone and communicate with somebody else in the middle of what I'm doing. Baseball lends itself to it because not everybody is involved in every play. But look, I say it profusely and I know ESPN Major League Baseball. I certainly the fans are really grateful and appreciative of the effort of the player. What else are you looking forward to the game Sunday? 'cause I know I'm fascinated by Darvish. There's a lot of a lot of data and Paul and McKee is going to have some coming up here in the show a little bit. Questions about sort.

"This make sense or the patriots. Better with mac. Jones starting to the patriots. Do cam newton dirty. go ahead. no. I don't think they did it all tony and listen. Let's go all the way back to the draft when the patriots used a first round draft. Pick to take mack jones. That's the day we knew that this was going to come. Not sooner or later. We didn't know i do. Think that cams cova difficulties played into this. The fact that he's unvaccinated. I think that was a problem for this team going forward but most of all. Here's what i know about bill bill. That's what i've always known about him. He's going to put the player that he thought won the job. Out there and mack jones won the chanaka. You see this as the patriots in some way. Doing cam newton dirty. No i think this is the world that we live in teams owners. We've all had to adjust. But in their cases they've lost tons of revenue behind cova protocol and cameras refuses to get vaccinated. I don't think that the margin was exceptionally wide in terms of what we saw from both of them in the preseason but that too is the problem you gave them a reason and so here we are even if you buy that somewhere in their camps ego he didn't want to be the backup at the root of this. You look at all the the folks that are on the ground at the root of this. The common denominator is vaccinations to add. Emily cap. I think they didn't cut a dirty look. The patriots always handle things their own way but even this was baffling by their own standards. Why give cam all of these preseason reps including the two with the starters this weekend why if you didn't trust him throwing did you not let them run it all. That's what he's best at. Why trotta half version of this guy. I'll postseason waste preseason and everybody's time you know the thing with cam newton is. I don't think he ever got a fair shake. We know that they have more opt outs than any other team last year. He wasn't the same after he got kelvin. It's just a really weird ending to a really weird tenure. I don't know if this if this day is about decisions. But i think it's more about consequences and when you are not vaccinated. Nfl especially when you were a quarterback you are a liability you are not going to be a reliable starter for the patriots or any team and we. We've seen a couple of quarterback now in this preseason miss those five days when they when when they are not vaccinated and i think the patriots going into the beginning of a season. Jackie said this was going to happen at some point this year. Just a question of when why not do it. Now i mean. They made the decision to bench him. Totally release the monica. But if cam newton is stuck in the covert protocol because he was have come up with this scenario of cam potentially picking up the virus right but even if his vice versa and say that matt came with it if he's in that same small group like he goes on the protocol to and you're out so jackie or the patriots better today. I believe they are listened. Mack jones can distribute the ball from. They're not going to ask him to do too much much like a young. Tom brady but i will never make that comparison.

And i'm glad i was part of of This this this this freedom rally that you had texans for vaccine choice. I think it's so important that we have a choice. It's not that i'm anti medical. I am pro-choice. No matter what it is no one should get the right to tell another person what to do with their body period. That's my stand. I absolutely agree. In what a great event it was we were so thankful you were able to come in to share into connect. You had a message that needs to be heard on saturday. And i know that it's so different from what you normally do. All righty. yeah but you did it. You did it gravely emboli and i'm just so proud of you. Thank you for being there. Well i i appreciate the opportunity to speak. It's only my second time really actually that i've spoken in front of an audience like that. But you know what you have to be brave. We all have to be brave. We all have to be smart. And i love the work that you're doing because this conversation needs to happen it needs to happen in order for us. To thrive our democracy to thrive as a country. I believe that with all my heart. So why did you do this. Freedom fight jackie well simply put. We do three things. I texted perplexing choice. We educate we advocate in. We build community. I think we did. Those three things on saturday had an incredible stellar lineup. Eileen o. for one. I was just so taken aback by the doctors who spoke. Oh yeah i learned so much from them so it was educational was We did advocacy. We talk to families about getting involved in showing up. i mean clearly. Our elected officials knew we were there. They knew we were outside. And we were advocating for our rights. And then i think the third and final component of building community. This can be a lonely journey right. I mean sometimes you feel like you are against the work and we have so many new individuals join us in joining our movement. That really my goal of this event was for everybody to have something to come together on. You have a rope. We knew we were going to have individuals who were fascinated with this. Kobe vaccine who joined us for whatever reason and we even tried to reach out to the lesson. No they are welcome at texas for vaccine choice And so those. Are you know the reasons that we came together in clearly on the advocacy Just to extend the reach to those who are fighting back against these medical mandates We reached a lot of people in saturday. And i'm really glad we did the event. Yeah i am too and you know. I had a purpose bringing my mask with me and showing it to the crowd because i was trying to really convey that there are a lot of people out there that are scared like my seventeen year old daughter. I brought her up in the speech. Because you know and it's funny and mother's day she got me the ring that said mama bear. I talked about that and the speeches well but it's important that we understand that. In order for us to move forward is a democracy we have to. We have to respect one another's opinions about how we feel about what we do with our body right. They have just as much right to choose to get a vaccine as we do to not choose to get a vaccine and i think you know i. Hopefully i accomplished that. Hopefully i did. I'm so glad you clarified on that mission. In what you were relating. I think that compassion is a beautiful message and we might not agree on everything. But we all came together in compassion. Could you imagine how powerful me would be if we did just that. Yeah we have to embrace each other's differences you know Most of the crowd believed in organized religion. I'm a buddhist you know. They're trying to create peace and and you know understanding for how they were feeling in all those mothers and fathers in the crowd. Like you. Jackie that have vaccine injured children. We need to listen to you. We need to make changes in government to protect all children. I'm very passionate about it as you know just like you. But let's talk about the media. Shutout has any mainstream news or media covered the event. I haven't really seen any media coverage i was able to. We went out to dinner after the event or saturday night. And i was thrilled when i looked up on the television and i saw a sure. You know little segment on it. I was hoping i was going to see more. I went home and searches search. I finally found the in. I kinda had to laugh. Because the only coverage i cook fine was maybe a twenty two second clip about freedom. Rally never mentioned our name stated were hundreds. Well there were fifth. He hundred people at least by our admits that showed up to this rally. There's well over a thousand people there. Maybe two thousand and our name is texans vaccine choice. The fact that we've had come right media shout. Let me tell you what they want to show. Is that divisive community. What they want to show is angry protesters. They knew they weren't gonna get that when they showed up. And that's not the message. They were getting. They decided they weren't going to show the.

But from my perspective certainly the leading hypothesis is that there was some kind of a breakout from this wuhan laboratory where they were doing that corona virus research and they work. It was clearly gain of function research. I mean that's clear. In other words. It was bio weapons research. I believe that mandates are morally and spiritually wrong. I agree with with Robert kennedy jr. any also is quoted as saying that human rights guaranteed by the us constitution and bill of rights are being decimated. Do you agree with that. "It's it's we all get it because it's the it's the wonderful ejection of these furious or for men in the face of a reasonable clever woman. That's the is that just makes it. I guess one of the things that kind kinda resonates with me. It is the so often we see things that are wrong. You know. I mean that we come across people who are just wrong in instant so many different ways. Most of the time in the day jobs we have you have to just navigate round. It's you know. Do the best you can with an and in that one moment it was like summary. Justice was dispensed this. Yes i get that. I think it's not something that people can really buy into. Because i think you know let people ask me about high. I get involved in local democracy. Why people get involved in politics a sector. And i thought it was kind of unique to me as often we do but actually a lot of people get involved for exactly the same reason. It's a sense of injustice. Something's wrong and we want to put it right. And i think that's kind of often the glue that binds us. So i think that's what people can of resonated with on some level and it was being reasonable. One and i think we're just so used to seeing the unreasonable and other people the media's the media's intended recently seems to be the other all those guys would be pam in that stuff now because all of that so horrible and rude..

I don't like so haven't got much done but i've got i've got some stuff to. I'm with not much about this week. But i i was. I took my Daughter my daughter to the supermarket this week and we've got to the trolley and she's quite a big six year old and she said she wanted to sit in the little seat in the trolleys had to lift her up and i got her in there but it was quite odd. And there's a point where you're just too big to go in the seat in the supermarket. Trolley am i. Remember that myself and i told her i remember the when i sat was when my mom said i couldn't go in the supermarket. Trotted anymore is in western superman and said the the just too big now and i remember being broken and my daughter said. How old were you when that happened. I said i was twenty eight years old. And because he's never too young to hear first twenty eight year old joke she said no. You weren't eight which is still quite close to to happen. But there's something quite poignant about that about those moments in childhood where you realize you have to leave something behind him.
