"To the Puck House let's jaw. Jerry. Yeah you. The Bucks. Panty factory welcome to PAC baby come on. This is a big last week for a Lotta Shit baseball teams right now, the Pittsburgh pirates have a four-game lead. That's right a four-game lead on the Texas. Rangers. For the number one draft pick. But just right up the Rangers ass we let Austin Red Sox five games back of the Pittsburgh Pirates one game back in the Texas Rangers you also have the d-backs tied with the Red Sox they're both twenty, thirty four. So we've got to catch some fucking els baby we got six games to go got to lose all six I, think it's the number one pick. It's probably not happening I. Don't see the Pirates Hall on office six. So if you're the Boston Red Sox you you have to win after that report is out, you have to like throw position players in every single game you have to you've got to learn games. Read by entered. If you want Jack Lighter, you've got to lose all. I'm worried about the red sox moving forward jared feels like the team unity that they've been known for the past really is. Is. Coming. Think about content not on the same page. If you know that you don't want the Red Sox to succeed. But if you and to succeed We've got the personal connection a jar. Think about like our draft day. Let's do. Let's do Docu special where we follow him around with him when he gets selected by the Boston red. SOx With the number two overall pick in the major league baseball draft next year. Think about those opportunities Dallas, which. We're does he want? Me Tie jared team or are you on the starting nineteen? Which one is what I'm disappointed in the red sox like to see a more cohesive approach to sucking and they're not doing it. That's how how how, how can I get on board with a group of guys who can't get on the same page together that's why I'm worried about what's going on in Boston right now is if we have a clear goal, I need everybody pulling in the same direction. These fucking kids want to go out and show that they belong in the big leagues. Kids want to cloud and hit tanks and throw the ball well, and pitcher throw hard and look good doing it. What does it look? Jared. It's hard for me to connect with a group who just can't see the writing on the wall. Yeah. They need to put jd Martinez isn't Centerfield. Unique to. Position players are starting these games they're causing them out this clay Buchholz could make. Burke for the. So I think he would love to I think that he would love that opportunity to. Just say goodbye the right way he never had proper Gavaa I more make start in Boston my arm I'd have to my arm up at the coliseum overnight didn't but it can meet me there and I would be willing to throw another game for the Red Sox if that's what I what I feel like that's only appropriate I feel like you know. It's one of your favorite Rhode cities when you were in Oakland, it would be a nice little feather in your cap to say that you you made a start wearing the same uniform as a guy like angel. Martinez John Lesser Roger Clemens guys like that. Bruce, her a broom. I think left-handers. Yeah. One of the best pitchers there ever what? At I've heard many many tales about how good he was You would be yeah. You'd be right there in the Pantheon of some of the all time greats and I feel like that's that you should say goodbye maybe we'll play call or text bloom to if he's interested in your services and we'll take it from there. I'm. Yeah. I'm here for you and I'm here for the. Thank you. Thank you and the fans are here for trae Manzini, who we all needed his chemotherapy yesterday. Berry. trae Mancini I mean this is a man chides yeah. Like there's there's certain. Where you know you hear stories about poor health or I think life really fucking deals you shit. and. You don't know how that individual is going to handle it and you're worried for them like a mental standpoint when this happened a trae Manzini as like he's fucking got this like I hadn't zero doubt that dude like trae Mancini, was. because. He's coming off a career. You also have to remember that trae Mancini broke the fuck out last year and he bawled for the Baltimore Orioles. So, to go from the highest of highs to hey, you have a cancer diagnosis I can't even imagine what that screeching halt in life must feel like but for him to just be like all. This this is the news we got. All right. We're going to deal with that and he's completed his chemo. He's done with that. I don't know what his path to to returning to Major League Baseball looks like from this point forward. Maybe we can ask him you know I feel like this is something that. You know if he's ready to talk if he wants to detail his journey, we'd love to give them the platform to do that if he's not ready to talk about it because he he doesn't think that he's out of the woods just yet. You know then we'll. Then we'll sit around and wait like everyone else because I'm sure people are are dying to listen to what Mancini has to say about the journey that he's been on and in the trials and tribulations of battling cancer is a young adult like this is not someone that you know prototypical expecting news like this especially a healthy body that's a professional athlete so Obviously. We wish him the best of luck. The rest of the way we're rooting for them and you know it's not one of those things where you say can't wait to see back on the field again because like obviously we do but it's more about we can't wait to see fucking healthy and happy you know that's that's what we really care about. Bingo. You are exactly right and so a shoutout to our man Rt.. Who is Well entrenched in all of the goings on with the with the oil's not only what they do on the field obviously. But. With everything that they do and participate in off the field he himself. Is A is a part of a lot of the the charitable efforts that are made and so he is. I mean, he is right on the front line with a lot of this stuff that orioles players. Do and unfortunately for trae go through so. There was no question how this was going to be received by the League by players. You saw everybody step up and let me know that they got us back in they love them and they're here for him.

"In Roberto Clemente Day moving forward. So I've actually heard that they were Talking about making that thing where they universally retire number twenty one throughout Major, League Baseball Yup I don't know like. I think the only other thing that I've really seen is that will that opens the door for like what other numbers should be universally retired throughout major league baseball. It's like what about what about Babe Ruth than the impact that he's had on the game and then where does it end and that's not really we're talking about a combination of. This this is what you cranberry in transcended figures. Yes. Transcendent like look up the word if you don't know what it means, but it's We don't have to just stick to baseball here. And often it our thing it's things outside of the game or whatever. Whatever subject matter you're talking about? That allows these people to elevate above. That's what transcendent means. So Roberto Clemente, a transcendent figure in his time. Because he was a baseball player, but you knew about what he was doing away from the game and there was no denying that. No. There wasn't. So yeah I'm all for it. They wanted to. Retire twenty-one universally that'd be That'd be something I think that that would be a very nice gesture in an honor that is well deserved Dallas, do you have any final thoughts here as we close out? The, second to last week of Major League Baseball. No third to last to last week of the Major League Baseball he's. Now, just keep paying attention to that Phillies marlins seven game series. That's all seven Gamer. Incredible the Marlins take gave one yesterday extra innings As you're listening to this today we are recording on Friday so shut up Through the weekend into the early part of next week, the MARLINS phillies will still be establishing just who is in line that second playoffs pot. That's it's something. It's something else I. Mean You look at? You know some of these people are trying to figure like, oh, how how's how's the playoff thing work and it's like well, every second place he makes it like the regardless of like winning percentage where that lines up every first place team makes it every second he makes it and then there's two wild card teams. So the Marlins they're doing it, they're hanging on. And I saw D train shoutout to our boy dontrelle Willis was tweeting last night. He's getting amped up for the potential of there being postseason baseball in Miami for the first time since his team won the world series in two thousand and three. That's the last time. As a last time that there was postseason baseball played by the Miami Marlins Slash Florida Marlins. Exciting when the trade had the conductor himself yeah. Those are the fucking good ole days. Those were the vintage. De Train days the vintage Maguy days. Back days you know it's so you just mentioned all three of those names you're. In Kane County Illinois which used to be the MARLINS low eighteen. In the Midwest yes. Low a team in the Midwest League before the as took over. and. They had huge images of D. train, Maggie and Beckett like all over the place and. You know play their. CD training there see as images and you know so many years later. Become homies and Shit, and. It's just it's really cool to think that. They were around for four years. Right how many years? The marlins. Would they come up with a ninety, ninety, five, ninety, five, ninety, six somewhere around there so that yeah, they're around for. A very brief amount of time. And Just sort of took the the baseball world by storm, ninety three. The franchise began play as an expansion team in the nineteen ninety-three season as the Florida marlins. Ninety three when the Marlins and the Rockies town? Yeah. It's. Crazy I mean, they wanted ninety seven. You probably think in the time between expansion and their first title. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Ninety seven they win. And Renteria? Knock. Hands. Up degreed image. It is a great image lighter right Yep. Now, number twenty two. Now we await the arrival of. ACOLYTE LIGHTER THE SON OF AL lighter product of Vanderbilt by the way shout out Vandy I through one tweet out there and I was just like Hey I'm looking to upgrade the wardrobe that I can I speak to the Vanderbilt? Director of merchandise I had a fucking DM within fifteen minutes what size this and that and I was like boom done. So I'm I'm expecting a package from Vanderbilt I'm going to be rocking the it's either Kumar rocker or Jack Lighter both Vandy guys one two in the major league. Draft in in twenty twenty one tank season is just as fun and People probably think I'm kidding. Tank season is exhilarating. I'm having the fucking time I. See watching the red sox attempt to be the worst team in baseball. So I can get that number one pick and coming into today. I know that fans the pirates and the rangers well winning percentage and it's a four way tie can't games back. It's a four way tie you get the pirates, you get the the Rangers, the Red Sox, and the D backs I can't wait for high bloom just turned into the guy who starts plucking one ones and shit like that, and then turning the morale, and before they ever even sniff the big leagues and you guys just never ever get to taste what that fruit could be like that you would hate to see that you would hate to see. ohi Bloom turned into a wheeler and dealer. That's GonNa Happen. No and even if. It's that Rwanda you guys just hear that relied that. That was a brief moment of dive where Caraba. To terms with the fact that that could be realistic you're prohibit he didn't wanNA live in it. Yeah. No no no not at all I. Think if I'm bloom, took a one one Kumar rocker Jack Lighter, and flip them to like one of those teams that really wanted him. I think whatever he would get back like he's GonNa he. He basically praise on desperation. That's what he does. Look. No further than fucking meadows in glass now, for Chris Archer. So. Well, he's. He's just that's what he's doing by my run on that team out there. He's praying on your Red Sox fandom desperation on we're rooting for losses I. I've never rooted harder for teams. You can't. You know what I'm going to say that you can't say that because you don't know what moves heim bloom could potentially be making with these new found draft picks. So you're just hoping to take last place so that you could get a draft pick that might show up five years from now and having impact. I could understand that that'd be viable, but for you to tell me that you're hoping that they lose. So high bloom could then take a potential top five pick and turn it around into something that would be acquiring players. So you just can't identify at this point I can't. I. I can't buy. At the only reason why? The only. Why Jack Lighter is eligible for the draft as a sophomore is because he's turning twenty one before the draft. So you're not talking five years down the road if you get a guy like Jack lighter draft. Well. No but then but then you're talking about will and that's what we would be unfortunate for the red sox players is because for the Red Sox fans because you could very well expect Jack to be showing up sooner rather than later. Problem is he could be showing up on somebody else's doorstep of sooner rather than later because high bloom has found himself a major league ready talent in the draft that he could flip for more prospects to get that team better. It's.

"It just that they really liked Blake and again? Have you noticed any difference there? Yes, so the biggest thing I noticed in spring was that they were you know doing. bullpens and throwing on the wheel off the mountains on the main field in Tampa in front of Rep Sotos Cameras, and they had they had a screen with the editor traffic setup behind it and everything like that and. There's just been a much bigger integration of technology some of the players. You know this is really been their first time throwing in front of systems like that reliably I think you know I think they just wanted a little bit more cohesion throughout the organization just in terms of like. Delivering Information and kind of how it was processed in so I think Matt is you know I think he's someone who they've really heard. A lot of great things about in like I am personally very big Larry. Fan and I'm excited every time like a photo of him pops up from someone like retweeting a padres thing in whatever, but yeah, it's it's been a little bit different in terms of kind of how open they've been about their use of technology, and then another thing that I noticed that I think I'm not sure if it's a matter thing or if it's a Garrett. Cole thing but I noticed a lot of a lot more players. Sitting in watching each other's old Penton Sim Games during spring training as well there was. There would always be like him. Honestly most of the major league pitching staff sitting behind a screen when someone was strong, assume game. Do you have a sense of what the organization's approach to player development in a year like this is going to be? Obviously, you have sort of a prospect heavy pool in some respects, so the guys at the alternate cider are going to get upset, but for all of their prospects who were not selected to be in the player pool. What what are they trying to do to keep those guys on track from a developmental perspective he. I think it definitely gets really tough right now, but I know that during the shutdown. Coaches and just the player development staff I know that they were keeping in touch with everyone kind of. Making sure they had programs and things like that and trying to help them kind of figuring out how to stay sharp and how to stay ready. You know maybe while some of them do not have facilities like some of the major league. Guys do and so. I don't know that's one of my big questions is well. I think it's just like logistically nightmare in I think. Something that? Is Really Difficult, is that? If. The minor, league contraction is formalized. There's a standard. Basically size that a that a minor league system can be. The Yankees will have to make I think. Forty, five more player cuts in so like. Okay they saw they saw most of the players in their system for. Week or two during spring maybe and so. I don't know necessarily if you have to not just look at. You know where you want guys to go swimming hoping everything is normal next year, but you have to make moves just I. Don't know how you can necessarily evaluate unless you have must send everyone in the system. You. Know Rap, Soto or Bat sensors or things like that. You should probably talk about Garrett Cole bit so at the trade deadline last year Brian. CASHMAN didn't make a move for a starter and was criticized for that at the time, and then the Yankees rotation didn't perform so well in the postseason in a lot of people said I told you so and then. Brian Cashman went out and splurged on coal and so I guess you could say oh. He learned his lesson and realized the error of his ways. Ways, but really at the deadline last year. He said he didn't think they were any impact. pitchers, available or difference, makers and Garrett. Cole is set difference maker. If anyone is so, do you think any of that was? Oh, I guess it is good to have starting pitchers and renewed appreciation for that, or is it just that? Hey, Kirk Cole was available, and he's the best pitcher in baseball. I think they were gonNA. They knew that call was. was there winter. You know they've. CASHMAN's called him his white whale or whatever but even. Even last summer I remember after they drafted Jack, lighter, out lighter son, who they expected to go to college. Instead you know their scouting director, Damon, Oppenheimer, said look, you know. We see this as a gesture. We drafted Garrett Cole and we hope that it will help us. Come this winter and so. You know it's a very long game that they played with this like a very very long game. But I think. They tried to get him from from Pittsburgh and so. I think. The organization. Looked at what some of the starters who are available last year the deadline and just didn't really like what they would have had to give up to receive them and I think Cashman's philosophy at this point is do not panic so. There are so well positioned from a rotation perspective, assuming Tanaka Comeback healthy with Paxton there, but the Yankees are also pretty stacked when it comes from the bullpen, so I'm curious if there's been any conversation in camp so far just keeping in mind that they have to keep these guys healthy for sprint that they're anticipating along playoff run. Are we going to see any creative deployment of those starters or the bullpen? They obviously don't need to Garrett. Cole can is go every five days and everything's fine, but they are sort of a fully operational dust star in the way that they wanted to be going into the season, even if the season looks very different than what they anticipated, so. Going to be any no shenanigans when it comes to how these guys are deployed, are they? GonNa play a pretty straight. Do you think I think right now? They think they'll play it pretty straight. You know the the thing. The Matt Blake and Aaron Boone of Said is like we have our plans, but we'll have to see how things go, but as of right now they're not looking at you. Know six man, rotation or anything like that, or at least they weren't you know before Tanaka was hit and so. The one thing I could see right now. It's like if If they do begin the season with. An empty spot in the rotation and goes to a younger less experienced player there there could be some creativity there, but you know a lot of those main guys you see in their bullpen. They were really able to stay ready. Stay Sharp, I mean. Vino was throwing the bullpen catcher off mound in his backyard with Garrett Cole, and then later once New York state restrictions lifted throwing Hanky Stadium Zach Britton has his own.

"I mean it's you have to be mindful of it because a lot of times out with doesn't fall far from the tree but you can't penalize the kid for the parent is apparent a lot of times it comes out of love. Ya understand that comes out of the willingness further the further kid to succeed like he said but I think part of scouting is noling the knowing the parents knowing where you know their upbringing. And you know you really WANNA get Scouting not how the parents bodies are like. That's a different topic but there is an element of it is usually not all the times but there are some commonality when you have parents that are little overbearing And you just have to market and just be known for it. So I can't say I would ever cross the author that by no means that I do make it known just to kind of paint the picture to everybody else. Just another factor for a pro scout just potentially just like in his file. Yeah Yeah just make note of it. I mean or it's the same thing like I think about this all the time it was like. Why do you think bloodlines are so important? Especially in Baseball Bat Ronald Blue Jays owns and Boone's you know the Shatt Guerrero been there done that you know there's there's a place for the Iq how to handle yourself as seen it. They're not fazed by going into a prologue. There's an element of that to go into the Adjust and adapt quicker than everybody else. So I think that on the on the opposite side of that. There's that too with the bloodlines. That's I think that's very important to to go to your point. So yeah as good as it could be a you know a negative is. It could be turned around and positive last year. Had A jack liner. You sat down and watched talk pitching Jack Lighter. I GET OUT MY PANEL. Take notes because that came us. You know six years. Maybe eight years younger than me. Or whatever and he was spitting knowledge like I couldn't believe but his car rights have been different. You know so. There's there's two ends of the spectrum. I'd like to think I was the same way going home from the Games. There's a little different from what I learned when I was ten years old than than most kids. But how do you feel about this? I mean you know we. Treatment of use the word difficult parent again. I think there are warning signs in that. You have certainly to me you know when I was doing. It Saint. John's I you know where were the red flags and was that play of worth it to get involved with something like that you really have. You really have to wait what I would look for. Is the interaction between the parent and the Child. You know I wanted to see that dynamic if if it if situationally ahead a Apparent that was very boisterous. Or you know Drew attention to himself. I wanted to see how the kid reacted to him. He was on the field when it had a chance to recruit a talk to them. I want to see who was the dominant figure was at the child during the talk and the father talked for the child. The mother who who who ran the shops shorter speak. I think he really You know you use the word homework you know. You have to look at that dynamic and make a determination Whether the kid is coach -able would you can you personally or your staff personally endless situation whether you wanted to recruit the kid not sometimes. Sometimes you have to. You have to you know whether he's good tonight. You may have to pull the plug. You feeling that that dynamic may not work in your organization don't know it's a it's a case by case basis. Yeah I like to use the word child because I think too. Often we think of these sixteen seventeen year old kids. Especially when they're doin' athletes as being like varying control and their physical. Like I mean you look at Lebron James when he was a high school player like. Who's that old guys like twenty years old But the reality is that they are still children. I mean I look back at myself when I was eighteen. My college idea somewhere literally. Look like the spitting image of Justin bieber dislike nineteen years old. We're just clean shaven and wide eyed and scared. But they are their children and they're going to get on College Campus and be bewildered by all this stuff. They have to do there in the public eye. If they're now think is are walking around with her. You know Saint. John's you sweats on all day. People know who they are. Professors are harder on them. They're goofing off like it's suddenly this big thing and they're on their own for the first time like they are still children until you're like hides a probably twenty five You know you're out there doing your thing in the real world but It's it's one of those things. I think Bobby Knight especially tried to warn parents like you're getting your kid cross off lists right now. You don't realize it but like what you're doing in the bleachers scouts. Already crossing off your list and it's hard to have that conversation and a lot of them just don't understand that either excitement or the overexuberance or they're Dunno. They're like they're being watched by every college coach. That comes to the game. Oh that's that kids dad. I don't think I want that experience. And that's tough and that's we try to warn parents like if you do if you you put so much money and time and effort again like you said trying to help your kid excel and you could be unwittingly on doing it by. You're in the bleachers specially. Getting getting into with a Myers and stuff like that like sits. It's chasing of the Division One scholarship if you will chasing the dream in one of your child to you know be be that whomever the whatever their perception is instead of for their for their trial to enjoy it and just become the best they can be at it and support that whatever wherever that may be. It's we want for our child. I understand it I get it. And you and certain people have more resources than others and certainly children have better talented others and it certainly this young men and women that have an innate ability to work in making shelves great players I. Don't you know it all it. All it all works a different way but the bottom line is you know when it's all said done just enjoy because times going to move fast and everybody can't be Mike Trout so unfortunately I but that's what they're chasing. The Jason had fame whatever that that that particular goal is in their mind division. One scholarship being drafted professionally. Make a million dollars. Just just WANNA cut in real quick. Dan have a mutual friend. Texted me and I just WANNA point out that. Dan Referred to himself as a Justin Bieber. Look alike So I just their third week we could do all another show on that but I want to switch gears with you guys a little bit. We have someone on twitter Glenn thank you ask a question. I'll start with. I'll start with Thai He wants to know. How are you dealing with? The you know the whole situation with corona virus and not being able to get out in regards to the upcoming draft and guys at that are on your list and in in your area. I got I got you. I don't know where Dan. Dan Apparently left so for me. Yeah yeah technical difficulties. I think to your question I've been I feel for the kids because all of us you know love the game stuff in it would suck to lose your senior year or any year like that senior in high school. So that's the first thing but as far as what I'm doing I mean I'm trying to keep in contact with the kids and make sure their spirits are up And you know it kind of puts everything in perspective not that. I've ever taken the game for granted because I think I I don't think I ever have but you know. How much do you realize how important a game is just being out there? Being on the field is and you know tune elements taken away from you. Know a lot of us right now so. I think being able to reflect on you know that and it has been Has Been Great because I think there's a lot of kids out there that will appreciate just being being present on the field at all times like I'll use the word present but And as far as what we're doing as organization we're Kinda just we have video collective great video guys that previously collected video throughout the seasons. Were looking at different video. You know guys were may or may not be considering you know having to put our inputs in there and you know making the most of each day. I think what I've been doing. My Dad is he likes likes to learn stuff so I've been trying to like gone. Random Zoom 'cause learn a little about about different parts of the game. So that's kind of what I've been doing. It's funny you say learned I have a really good friend is pitching coach. Bob Low a pitching coach with the raise. In there they're all being mandated to to take Spanish classes. Over over this sub. Nothing NEW AD. Are there the mets Make now but I have I try to spend in our day on Spanish. Lingo on that and Spanish with Paul So I utilized could try to you know it's that Spanish Grammatically correct but you know Spanish with youth players a little little more slang Spanish. You have to place yourself in in compensation but the it's to me. Teaching is communicating. And you do have a lot of a clear Latin players. Yeah you better. You better be communicate with him in like anything else. So they have a better comfort level if you entertain their language so as as a manager for the for the for the Brooklyn Cyclones. What are some of the challenges that you foresee making the switch from college to to Pro Ball? You know. That's that's a good question Obviously what. I like challenges. I don't have to put up with recruitment any now. I know the vine plays you'll be dealing with the more than what I particularly deal with it at at my my Russia was thirty five and that was it. There's guys grew up and down You get some guys come up from Seattle. So the movement will be new to me From a development You know you're gonNA play the players and give them a fair amount of chances. You'RE NOT GONNA YOU'RE NOT GONNA play one lineup all the time but you know you gotta go out there and play to win. Play the game. The right way I I liked the fact that There is more will be more development. Meaning you'll do a lot more early. Works negotiate developing of the players. Games are important but the early work is just as important Then you also factor in which is a which do have a nice staff of four staff members putting the manager as relevant performance coach We have a little bit of a mental person. We have an intern. We've a trainer so you have a group of guys to work with To kinda delegate the activity in work and that's the bottom line is what you're doing. Is You developing the player but you also developed a team and that takes a little time? So there's some challenges this challenges but I like those challenges and I have another question along the same lines and the SONAM opinion about some. I'm curious to hear where you fall. But I'm a firm believer that amateur players need to call their own game as pitchers..

grateful to to so many levels that I didn't miss any games I was able to watch all of it and rich it was much better than any World Series performance that I did or any kind of stuff that I actually "Which is a Bryce Harper in Philly walking into Washington to try and play a one game or that would be what we talk about a crucible if something like that happy right but you also? Have you know within four games <hes> let's see within five Games Cincinnati San Francisco Pittsburgh Pittsburgh San Diego. I mean wow you coming in from the Cold Colorado. Arizona Saint Louis in Milwaukee. It really is lit the question I have for you. <hes> AL is is which team <hes> out of everybody needs has to has is to get that big arm pitcher I mean the red sox wanted to Kashmir off the board from Baltimore over the weekend. They struck early. Which team do you think needs to get that big arm to win the world series right now? That's a good question and I think the needs part would have varying degrees if you're telling me of the available start is let's go stroman or Zach wheel or a bumgarner or <hes> you know a map boyd from Detroit you any one of those guys barring that they're or not pitching like a four or five would be a welcome sight at any of the teams including the New York Yankees including <hes> the Houston Astros Astros are intriguing to me because of <hes> you know with Brad Peacock has gone down and Wade Majlis emerging right most recently we know it's Very Lander Garrett Cole but they're in need and here you know their first place by six games over Oakland they could use a starter <hes> the Yankees on one hundred percent convinced that they're going to go out and get somebody to really you know just make them even not much harder to beat <hes>. I do believe that the Yankees go onto the world series the way it is right now the Yankees I think we're going to go back to Nineteen eighty-one Seventy eight rich and see a Yankee dodgers world series a lot of course can happen but <hes> the dodgers to me are just too good into deep and the Yankees are just only GonNa get better. Can I get the seventy eight version out the eighty-one version all right don't mention that is twenty five win seasons. Oh my Gosh Louisiana lightning. "This was not the most troubling pitcher usage that I saw last week at all I will say that he's going on seven days rests or not, seventy six days, rest on either side of this outing. So it's not entirely analogous. I would like to see Tim Corbin poem after the seventh or eighth inning. I'm always a little bit surprised. He didn't. But you know what, what you said about athletes, particularly young athletes are taught in conditioned to want the ball of big moments and scouts phone. See this gathering say. You don't want to see the kid want to give up the Paul because he wants to preserve himself because you want the bulldog mentality and all of that. Yeah. And so you understand the, the coaches incentive to particularly college coach. He's only going to have this guy, three years, right? I like to think the coaches have gotten a little have gotten better about that. I will say like this is turned into a tool. The reason the Vanderbilt gets guys like rocker is because they have a reputation for for developing and protecting young arms. That's why like if you if you see a pitcher. A highly draft a pitcher, a fail the sign or a highly touted pitcher, Jack lighter is a guy in this draft class. He's going to Vanderbilt they go to Vanderbilt they go to Florida. They go to schools with a reputation for taking care of guys arms. But I mean, this is it's, it's not unique to college base- baseball because we saw this in the NBA, then there's a basketball player named Kevin Durant who. You came back from from injury. Maybe Russian a little bit and may have suffered a more serious injury in last night's game. So this is something that it's just an interesting balance you have to strike 'cause the incentives or conflicting learning a lot on the segment. Yeah. And look we talked about. I honestly intended to talk about rocker for, like ninety seconds. So we, we talked about in for, like says. Yes ending you just going along with it. But I look forward to young Kumar's career-high Opie watching it. You will see how he does when he reaches the pros and gets to this homerun happy environment in which headway. That's pretty good. Right. I bet. Yeah. The Phillies Diamondbacks combined for thirteen home runs last night. I like an idiot picked up. Jared, I offer for my fantasy to you thinking of Diamondbacks are, okay. And I cost pitched well on and off this season gave up five home runs and the other pitchers in that game gave up eight more. So this is an MLB record and you find this interesting interesting, it's not something like only you find it. But well, the fact that it's a record is actually something I don't find interesting because we're getting home run records every day, it seems like there's some heavily. Ben Lindbergh take. Well, I of course fascinated by just league wide changes and I'm curious about the home run rate, but I almost feel like it's gotten to the point where it really has sort of set some of the specialness from this type of achievement..

"A Viking. I think we all the Dow is the one that I think universally we're all like this is this is on. Even if we're not Packers fans just because. Yeah. Jets was weirder though. New. He wanted to go play for Minnesota at some point. So seeing him go to the jets for a bit. It was kind of weird. Travis also as Andre Johnson as a cold against Houston. That's an interesting one because Andre Johnson, one of the original I Houston Texans. Yeah. From another one from the one nine James Harrison on Cincinnati. And then. Neil Smith plan for the Broncos. That one was bizarre. Darren says Dorset playing in Denver. Yeah. And he Tony Dorsett is one of those like Johnny United States where those are historical weird things like when Johnny United's played for the chargers. Yep. Door set with the Broncos. I imagine Joe Nemeth when he wasn't a jet anymore. Where did Joe Nemeth go after he was in New York? I would imagine for colts fans. Paid Payton in Broncos uniform was bizarre the first time Rams. Oh, right. So we'll continue take your thoughts on that cargo going to be in the lineup tonight against the Rockies as a member of the Chicago. Cubs. The major league baseball draft is continuing to go on where we at here we are at pick two hundred sixty. So we'll round with that be. I didn't see. Let's see current round boom. We are in round nine okay? That's it. Yeah. Round nine. No local ties as of yet Riley Cornelio from pine creek, rank, the Eighty-six best prospect in this draft has not been picked, and we're at nearly three hundred pigs and my guy, and Brent Brent Brigham of the gazette did a great article. About Riley in talking to Riley, and some of the quotes that were in there made it, maybe some of, you know, Riley, you have kids that go to pine creek. And you may be able to shed some light on this, because I don't know Riley, personally. But the gist I got from brands piece was that Riley feels like he wants to go to TCU. And. Maybe there's a sign ability aspect here. You would think almost three hundred picks in that somebody would just take the chance and just see. There's eight guys ranked higher than him that haven't been picked, right? Oh, I even noticed twenty ninth ranked player MAURICE Hampton, right? Oh, I know Jack, I know Jack lighter is one hundred percent going to Vanderbilt told he told people that he is not going to sign and in maybe, maybe Riley, didn't say that in as many words, but the reason he is still on the board is guy. Tell it tells me that scouts believe that he was going to go to TCU teams believe that he was going to go TCU. And also, we talked about this yesterday pitchers in Colorado and Colorado's not the only place, Minnesota North Dakota places with a little bit more cold. We have the. Cold. But also the rain and stuff. Pitchers from Colorado or at a disadvantage in terms of being seen. Because I know one guy that I grew I didn't grow up with him. I by Lou coach aver who pitched for Fowler ended up having a career with the royals. He was the you know, he was kind of the same way. When your season can't fully get going in March because of whether you're at a disadvantage, and I think the best thing for Riley is to go to TCU where he'll be able to play from the beginning of the season till the end of the season and put a little bit more out there on, on film, but he has not been taken, nor has a new friend of the program, Nick ready from air force. Yeah. But. History pick. I know what the hell growth going to the Red Sox. Right. So. So, yeah, we'll keep an eye on in case. Anybody locally gets drafted the big news last night with the, the Rockies is that they drafted UCLA first baseman, Michael Togadia with their first pick. And let's here, first of all, let's hear well let's just hear from Tokyo himself. Here's what totally is said about because the Rockies actually drafted him in two thousand sixteen out of high school and then draft again, here's totally on on what it means to be drafted by the same organization twice. Here's. Here's Jeff bridage on togue laying kind of his reasoning for picking him as a first baseman come looking at a high school kid out of the northwest coming down and one coming right in competing in the Pac twelve in a program. You know, the, the level that UCLA's at,.

"To get on Vange. Carver high, my view route. So baseball had their dry and I'll take your calls to on the NBA finals the Stanley Cup final or any of this stuff. So I will take your calls. Eight five five two one two four two two seven. The baseball draft went down tonight, at least a big part of it. I don't know how much more they do. They do tons of it. Don't they do like forty rounds or something like that? Yeah. I don't even the format of it is completely off the rails. I know tonight, they just do I guess, the first round, but then there's like more than that, because they have so many compensatory picks in the MLB it's just ridiculous. So it started rounds wanted to, and then through June vet. They go round three through ten on June fourth which I believe, is tomorrow. And then rounds eleven forty on Wednesday. Adly rush men, a catcher from Oregon state went overall number one to the Baltimore Orioles. So he can spend the next ten years of his life losing to the Yankees. Kidding. Get over it. He is basically a better BUSTER Posey. I heard that. And there you go. And they've had them before they had weaders all these catchers now they go get another one. Yeah. I mean I was wa-. I mean he's been gone a couple of seasons now. They, they need they need players. But I remember when they got him, he was gonna be the greatest catcher of all time, member, you had a good stick. He was decent, but not this, this kid's supposed to be something else, which hitting catcher with power. You know, the whole deal. There you go. So. Bobby Witt junior a shortstop in from Texas. In coli Ville, Texas collie Ville, if I mispronounce name of your city, forgive me, Bobby Witt junior, of course. Everybody remembers, Bobby Witt, the major leaguer the White Sox took Andrew von a first baseman from Cal. The twenty eighteen golden spikes winter as raid it up. He batted four to last year. Three eighty one this year, fifty home runs in three seasons at cow, the Marlins JJ blood day of Vanderbilt and outfielder the Tigers Riley, green from Haggerty high school in Florida. Number six the Padre CJ Abrahams, a shortstop blessed high school in Roswell, Georgia. The reds Nick la- Dolo elect hander from TCU Rangers, Josh, John, a third baseman from Texas Tech in Lubbock. Atlanta at number nine Shane Lange layers catcher from Baylor, the giants had ten hundred Bishop outfielder from Arizona state Toronto at eleven Alec Manila, a right hander from West Virginia in Morgantown six six to sixty the Mets at twelve Brad bady, a third baseman from lake Travis high school in Austin, Tejas, number thirteen twins Kiani Cavaco, third baseman from east lake high in Chula vista. Cowley mobbing leaves to go there to get weed or something Chula vista. No. Are we on the air? Check one two Phillies. Ed number fourteen Byron Stott shortstop from the running rebels of UNLV, and then the angels at fifteen will Wilson, a shortstop stayed. The Diamondbacks, Corbin Caroline, outfielder from lakeside high. School in Seattle. The nationals at seventeen Jason excuse me Jackson Rutledge, a right hander from San Jacinto college. My bog goes to Quin priest her a righty that throws ninety seven miles an hour from Kerry grove, Illinois, high school of flame. Throwers what they call it the magic that the cardinals at nineteen exact Thompson from Kentucky Seattle at twenty George Kirby. Right. Enter from Ilan Twenty-one Braves and other first rounder, Brayden Schumacher shortstop, third baseman from am twenty to raise Greg Jones shortstop from UNC, Wilmington, Twenty-three Rockies my goal Taga, a first baseman from UCLA. They're really good. They kicked Oklahoma's tonight, I think in the college World Series. I mean they beat him. Senseless sixteen three they're the top seed. I believe the Indians at twenty four Daniel as pheno a right hander from Georgia. Premier academy twenty five Cody. Host a third baseman from two lane. Twenty six Diamondbacks. Blake Wilson, a lefty from north hand. Our New Hanover, North Carolina school twenty-seven Ryan righty out of Fresno state. Twenty eight brewers. Ethan, small lefty, Atta, Mississippi State, twenty nine the as Logan Davidson shortstop out of Clemson, and then thirty at the Yankees, Anthony bowl is that his name shortstop from an Adele bar high school in Morristown, New Jersey, a logo kid? They went with Garver high. Yeah, it sounds that way. I guess he was a high school teammate of the herald, Jack lighter. Who I have not mentioned yet tonight. Did he get drafted lighter? They talked about how great lighter is he didn't get drafted not in the first round anyway. The dodgers, Michael Bush first baseman, from North Carolina. Then Houston Corey Lee catcher from cow. There were some compensation picks that no one cares about the kid that got picked. My name got a kid out of charter high in Penn shredder, high in Philly at number thirty seven with the competitive balance round a which is Portuguese for I have no idea what that means. At all. But I'll take him away. They got second rounders here. That's who's going tomorrow. In the second round. I did they do. I just told you to list for tomorrow, right? It's wednesday. That's the day, everybody gets a headache because they do rounds eleven through forty on Wednesday and really chop up the meat. Here's Mark in Toronto real quick under raptors. Hey did. Yeah. I quickly the puck had didn't get to see the blues burns game. But looks like St Louis pulled it out. And did you have to make a lot of saves as quickly shot count over thirty shots? But how do you play? Well. I mean, he certainly played a lot better than he did on Saturday night. When eight yanked is so I mean, I think a lot of people were wondering how he would fare after, you know, getting yanked, and everything. But at the end of the day, I made twenty one say's. That's really not that hard a night at work. If you ask me, you know, these teams have shown great ability to shut down the other team from shooting. I think if you went back to games one and you know you had lopsided shots on goal then he got his hat on Saturday night. When they yanked him, it could have thrown in for a little bit came back tonight and did what he had to do now. He's gotta go prove that he can do and again in Boston in this game five, so that's Thursday night. So we'll see how he does there at the guard. That game to me turns the whole thing on its here I think ever wins that game will have a major advantage. I know the blues go home and six and win. And I know Boston could certainly go home at seven win. But I actually think at Boston wins on Thursday, I didn't go there on Sunday and beat him and finish it and that'll be that.

"Goes to work night in and night out. I've got him going right now in the first round, I think he could go in the latter part of the first round, it would make sense to me in that kind of Yankees. Dodgers Astros range thirty to thirty to the back end if his name game off the board. They'll Barton high school in jersey, right hander with all the bloodlines and the stuff you could ask for in the question when you're taking a prospect, like Jack lighter if he that late in the classes know what type of bonus is it gonna take to get him to sign? Yeah. To pay him than over slot. The to get creative to get a deal done by Jack lighter who's out kid is one of a few names, you're going to know when you hear it tomorrow. Look, no further than right now, with what the Toronto Blue Jays have done. They just graduated of tapping Bijou's out, stay. Eating at the major league level. PC Bo was working as way to the top of the minor leagues with them right now. So he's doing this. They know that when you draft someone who grew up in a major league baseball household, you're getting the character in some of the thought process, and paradigm that you need that exceed professionally, it's just one less thing that they don't have to worry about because they know he's guys were groomed in an environment that allows them to think about the game of baseball in a way that they don't need to be taught and built with a foundation from the ground up Grandpa's from Sirius XM's MLB network radio be doing draft coverage tomorrow night, giving us some insight here on CBS sports radio. You might you wear Jack lighter goes Dumbarton high school in New Jersey is there a chance that he's the second player taken off his high school team in the draft tomorrow? Yes. I mean no Barton's had a flu. Fluids scouts, their obviously to look at mobile players this year. I personally own on the most recent mock that I've done have lighter as the only of the delve art Barton, high jersey products going round one. I think if it was just about talent. And that's one thing people have to understand about the MLB draft is a little bit different than the NFL draft. And some of the others is that it's not as simple as thirty two picks in the first round. So let's look at the top thirty two players in the country and assign them accordingly. There are other factors here who who's got forest advise and represent. Right. The flooding systems in place now. So teams may in the top ten take a player who's thirty eight best player on their board who they can get at two million under slot. Because then they'll come back to late extra to spend later because you're giving this allowance for major league baseball to spend over the first ten rounds. And then you can get a guy maybe fell that shouldn't be there later in the draft as well. So predicting this. Thing it's complicated saying who's gonna go where how many guys from each school or where these prospects went up is more difficult. But I think if it's about talent in the first round, I just think lighter is absolutely gonna come out the board each to go to play or not two, I'd say they so we could have as many maybe as eight or nine high school arms go in the first round. I did talk to one draft expert today. Oh on my show said he'd only guarantee you to high school pitchers in round one that are foregone conclusions. And that's Matthew Allen. The right answer from Seminole high in Florida. I think they'll go to the nationals at number seventeen and look out for a youngster name Quinn, pre stretches spoke to today's right hander from Cary grove, Illinois. He's central casting six three two hundred pounds. Great athlete played in football won a state championship touchdown as a wide receiver has a strong commitment collegiately that I think if you drafted him in the middle of the first round, you can get him out of Texas, Christian. I could see him. Going to the Pittsburgh Pirates at eighteen if he's not drafted before that, that might be the floor for okay? And I mentioned Dumbarton is loaded. The mock, I'm looking at it had to Anthony Volpi shortstop as a guy who could get drafted in the first round along. But again, it, it didn't question becomes, you know, the high school shortstop crop. It just depends on whether or not when you see a guy that you think he's staying at short. Because if you see him alternately coming off that position than values obviously, going to take a little bit of a hit on draft night, depending on the room that you're sitting at burn off any other one that thing that stuck out to me again, to high school players being looked at its potential rounders don't quite first round, but first and second lake Travis high school in Texas has got a right, antibody name of Jimmy Lewis and also hit by the name of Brent. Is it Batty, your Beatty, who is a third baseman who may go into top ten? Yeah. Baby. I've got going into top ten I think he's going to come out the board before probably the eighth or ninth overall pick one of the best players in this class and to me if you're talking just backs with pop and guys with raw power that ultimately is going to translate. I'd put him up there. Right. When Andrew von of California more advanced obviously the collegiate players. But when it's all set and done is the guy who could hit the most home runs from this class question was baby's going to be in a defense. He's projected kind of as a corner guy. I third type. He's already made two hundred twenty pounds at six foot three. He's not your normal. No sculpted. Actively who's projectable you can see adding weight his brain. And he kind of looks today. I think like he's going to basically look when he gets to the big leagues and one other interesting thing about him is because. A year older than most guys in his class, in two years older than the youngest in his class. And there are plenty of teams that are that are not necessarily out on him. But down on him, I wouldn't be if you believe in the bad. If you think he's the truth needs. Legit? Take him. But when you draft making your high school scares team. From sometimes thinking, there's a lot more thick and be done. I take the talent. I wouldn't worry if you're talking to difference between seventeen and ten months nineteen in six months that year and a half isn't going to scare me off. But that's just me. I one specific play. I wanna ask you about because someone told me that it's Pacific team. I know in like in follow like the kid, but don't know if he's going to be available when they pick in the middle of the first round, Jackson Rutledge, a right handed pitcher out of San has sinto junior college has a commitment to go to Kentucky next year if he so desires, if he doesn't like where he's drafted. What's the scouting report on Jackson Rutledge Jackson Rutland has a chance probably end up being the best player in this class? I, I don't know how beeping the board fifteen year referring to as but I'll tell you this. I mean, I think most people think back into the top ten just outside of that for which maybe eleven twelve range, perhaps he's a guy that is. Spoken to a couple of times during this process. He's massive super athletic for his brain. Six foot eight two hundred sixty pounds me straight out of central casting, in terms of being able to be a guy that can eat inning showed e e he's the kind of guy think ultimately that people feel like is going to be a front of the rotation or looking for durability. But it's six eight. Sometimes the concern is can you repeat the delivery athletically? Can you get the ball to home plate from the same release point? And that was an issue for him for some time it no longer is. I mean he's throwing more strikes you look right now what he's able to do. Throwing mostly in the mid nineties can pop higher than that has breaking bitches. It gets wings and MRs he was preseason ranked in the top one hundred in the draft class by baseball Americans. But everybody else scouts have been all over him from the beginning, and he has blown up the boards just because when you see him when he's right. We're talking about a fastball ninety eight ninety nine range at its peak. He holds it through. Route starts and he recorded the knee around one hundred sixteen strikeouts and seventy innings. So you got the numbers to go along with this stuff to go along with the frame. I there's not any taxes that he hasn't checked. I think he's probably going to go early enough that he's not going to see a in a car demain, and you want to stay up on the MLB draft grant at Longwood Boden and do cat tomorrow might be way to go if not you can catch it on the MLB network up in front of TV grant. We appreciate your sharing a little bit of insight in advance with us today would cut to them all brother. And thanks for hopping on with us, only the pleasure. Joe buddy, my pleasure. That's grand Paulsen from Sirius XM's MLB network radio back. We'll get the phones reopened I got half an hour. Thirty five minutes left. Get as many calls in as we can you want to talk about the draft weekend. Go back to the NBA game tonight Toronto against the warriors. I'm on. Record, I'm going to raptors. I think they're going to win. Both the do games. I think this is a very heavy homecourt series would not be surprised if we go to all seven games. If the warriors are going to win one on the road tonight would be the night. I don't think it's happening. How about you? Eight five five two on two four two two seven. Join amac work in.

"Broadcasting on MLB network radio from our studios with Jim bowdoin and Jim Duquette to former MLB general managers with stick by pick radio analysis. So we'll be watching this thing on TV and reacting to every single pick we've done the draft onsite previously when it was actually in the milk house in Orlando back in two thousand eight draft probably best known at the top of the board for a BUSTER Posey, going fifth overall to the San Francisco Giants but I'm looking forward to it. It's become a Musi event. It's become huge like the other drafts and the other sports baseball on a really good job with they have. And they've tried to get more players in there in the television production is good. And you guys do a great job on the radio, but it seems like it's a foregone conclusion at the number one pick is going to be you've been doing this for about a decade now on, on serious most years. We have a good grasp about who the number one's gotta be. I certainly believed the top. To picture kinda etched in stone. Is there any chance that they could fly and Bobby Witt could actually be the number one pick instead of Adly Richmond? The catcher from Oregon state Jody, I think there is a possibility that I wouldn't bet on it, I think there's probably a seventy or seventy five percent chance. I'd say that idly watchmen goes one, one Mike Elias is in its first year running the draft to the Orioles is their first year. TM is a proponent of not making your final decision until the day of draft. So I think what we said publicly they're going to do is, get, as many people in the room as possible to make that final decision come to divert it tomorrow. I think they're going to determine that Russia is the right thing. He's eight catcher from Oregon state is six two and two fifteen. He's got every box checked, and I think the reason you take him one, one if you're more is that he's a little bit safer than Bobby Witt as high up. Upside as he is. I think it'd be told me right now that there's a superstar few years from now in this class. It's a several time all star and winning MVP awards. I think with a better chance to do that. But it's your first pick running an organization. Rebuilding it system. You really can't get this election wrong. I think Rochman is going to be terrific major league talent for years to come. So they play a little bit safer. They go rush when and that leads wit the royals which I think is a foregone conclusion. If he's there, I haven't heard one person in baseball. I talked to they did they'll take anybody other than him, assuming he doesn't go, first overall understood, you mentioned, Oreos, and the number one pick, first time, general manager sitting in that chair, different organizations. Do it differently. Some general manager very hands on a are going to make the call. And it's push come to shove. They'll overruling scout. Take good. They're going to take. And there are some general manager that readily admit they got a lot on their plate that there. Going to put their faith in the people that they've hired selected to make these kind of calls. Do we know for a fact the first year GM of Atlanta is that guy or does he have faith in, in all the individuals to work under him to give him the right note name to call number one? Well, it's, it's a pretty reworked front office, obviously, right Elias, who started in Saint Louis, and went to Houston or king under Luneau, Andy group that has turned the Astros into a juggernaut brought some of the key pieces with them over to Baltimore. So I think there's going to be a good working report with them. They'll carry over to the Orioles front office what they did with the Astros. Everyone can have a seat at the table and he'll listen, but Mike alliance got hired to run a front office, because he is a terrific scouting mind in the same way that a guy like Mike Rizzo in Washington. The guys that came up driving and see players and in writing names on cards. Then ended up running front offices. They called the shot at the end if he gets to a point like Brazil has with Chris Klein where he had someone in this building that he trusts the inherently. Yeah. Let them call. I think some of those decisions, but I've talked about this recently on the radio. Now he is seen all of the players, the top of the board that they're considering the reason he has become in charge healthy Orioles front office, maybe more than anything else was. He was the guy that really advocated for Carlos Correa first-overall and brew into some, some star power and fame out of that. So I think this is his call, I think, in the end they will listen to everybody but he's gonna make the final. We have had couple of, you mentioned Korea and a couple of years ago, we had the quote unquote, shortstop drive with Swanson bregman going one two. We know Bobby Witt's gonna go number two. How deep is shortstop group. How many other shortstops are we're going to see taken in the first round? I think it's a real. Deep shortstop crop this year because Jodi, this is as good a position player group, probably as we've seen in a while. In fact, the record for the first round twenty one back taken in round one. And for people listening around the country, what you want to pay attention to among some other storylines tomorrow. That's a number that's probably gonna end up being surpassed. I think we're going to break that record. This is arguably the worst college pitching Drennan in recent history. This'll be my twelfth draft really following in covering it closely. And I've never seen this thin a rank of college pitchers. The highschool arms are very much in. Better regarded. But there's some question entry number one there's nothing riskier at this point to take is, you know, then in eighteen year old and throws ninety seven miles an hour who at some point is very likely ticketed for Tommy John based on the history now of these high octane file fireballs in highschool. But that said, I think the shortstop groups pretty elite of the question is how many of these guys stay there when you look at some high school talents like CJ Abrams from blessed trinity, and Georgia, I've got him going forth to the Marlins right now are gun or Henderson, and six three two hundred pounds a shortstop from Alabama was going to go in the first round, I think he could go to the dodgers in the mid twenty th the question, I guess, with each of these players becomes, do they alternately, grow out of that physician, does their frame gets bigger. They end up at third or and a corner in the outfield. But the story of this class is back, and we've got really an elite group. Power collegiately Andrew von from Cal among others. In two dozen. Home runs this year, and then athletes in high school. They're gonna go much earlier than in the past. We may get out of the top ten without having a picture taken. I don't know that we will. But it's a possibility. I never would have said that before I don't want to ask you about a high school pitch. We know Bobby Witt to news going to go either number one or number two. And of course, father, former major leaguer about another major leaguer why Masumi will be on the province's tomorrow because his dad is part of them vis draft coverage, allied is kid gonna get tabbed first round second round is he going to be in Secaucus Tamala Dino? I don't know if he's on the list. One surprise me at all. If he was for obvious reasons. Right. He's in the office where dad goes to work night in and night out. I've got him going right now in the first round, I think he could go in the latter part of the first round, it would make sense to me. And that kind of Yankees dodgers Astros range thirty to thirty to the back end, if his name came off the board. They'll Barton high school in jersey, a right-hander with all the bloodlines and the stuff you could ask for when the question when you're taking a prospect, like Jack lighter if he's that late in the classes. Now, what type of bone is it gonna take to get him to sign the have to pay him than over slot, the to get creative to get a deal done? But yet, Jack out kid is one of a few names, you're going to know when you hear it tomorrow, and look, no further than right now, with what the Toronto Blue Jays have done. They just graduated of tapping B's ios. But outstanding at the major league level of four Spiderman grow junior is one of the games. Truest blue chip prospect. They've got more second generation players coming. Wait till you see Bo was working its way to the top of the minor leagues with them right now. So teams like doing this. They know that when you draft someone who grew up in a major league baseball household. You're getting the character in some of the thought process in paradigm that you need to succeed professionally, it's just one less thing that they don't have to worry about because they know these guys were groomed in environment that allows them to think about the game of baseball in a way that they don't need to be taught and built for the foundation from the ground up grandpa from Sirius XM's be network radio. Be good doing draft coverage tomorrow night, giving us some insight here on CBS sports radio. You might you where Jack lighter goes to Barton high school in New Jersey. Is there a chance that he's the second player taken off his ice cold team in the draft tomorrow? Possibly. Yes. I mean go Barton's had a fluid scouts there, obviously to look at multiple players this year. I personally on, on the most recent mock that I've done have lighter as the only of the del Barton, high jersey products going round one. I think if it was just about talent. And that's one thing people have to understand about the MLB draft is a little bit different than the NFL NFL draft. And some of the others is that it's not as simple as thirty two picks in the first round. So let's look at the top thirty two players in the country and assign them accordingly. There are other factors here. He who, who does Scott Boras advise and represent. Right. The flooding systems in place now. So teams may in the top ten take a player who's this thirty eight best player on their board who they can get at two million under slot. Because then they'll come back with two late extra to spend later because you're giving this allowance for major league baseball to spend over the first ten rounds and then you can. Get a guy maybe who fell that shouldn't be there later in the draft as well. So predicting this thing it's complicated saying who's gonna go where how many guys from each school or where these prospects will end up is more difficult. But I think if it's about talent they have to in the first round, I just think lighter is absolutely gonna come out the borders, east to go to play or not, to I'd say they so we could have as many maybe as eight or nine high school arms go in the first round, I did talk to one draft expert today. Oh on my show, who said he'd.

"This guy, and it's not just because he's on the phone line may be listening to the introduction. As a matter of fact, it looks like he just dropped off. But he's. Eighty the MLB network MLB tonight is going to air for seven straight hours coming up at one eastern time and you can catch this gentleman on 'em MLB tonight throughout the entire season. This he had three starts with the New York metropolitan on may and major league baseball opening day in his nineteen seasons in major league baseball and more importantly, some sure you'd say he's the dad of Vanderbilt FINA, Jack lighter allied, or how are you? Good rich. How are you? Great, man. That's cool. You know, what it started out as my son was, you know, the son of allied earlier, and that's cool. And I don't know how he takes. And then all of a sudden now it's Jack later whose dad is out later. I love it will you know, what I mean? I was disappointed to hear that you're stepping away from doing Yankee games. But then I found out the reason why it couldn't be more happy for you, you that that that's my first of all I had a ball. You know, John Phillips L E runs network and working with. Michael Kay, and Paul Neal and David Cone and Ken singleton those guys it was a blast. It really was. But truthfully, even as limited the schedule is, you know, I I wanna see my son play Moore's senior year, and he's he's viewed highly and I just I didn't want any series. Either home Yankee Stadium on a road to you know, possibly not allow me to watch. And that that was really the driving force behind. Well, good for you. Good for you. What's your favorite opening day memory from your plane? My favorite opening day memory was nineteen Eighty-eight when I got the call. Well, not the call. But I I made the team Davor Getty came up to me in Fort Lauderdale and said where you live in kid. And I said, Dave, I I don't know if I made the team at this was right before they announced it that were told me, and he said you made it don't worry about it. Do you have a place to live? And I'm like, no, he's like you're living with me. So in nineteen Eighty-eight Davor getting I'm Bergen county New Jersey, I lived with rags, and I'm calling home to my mom, and my friends, and I'm like like a little twelve year old girl asked me to like live with he was single. I was single amazing. We were roommates but more than anything else rich. And I know, you know, this, you know, with respect to opening days, and this is no slate on the Blue Jays the Mets or the Marlins or any other franchise in America. There is something a little different and certainly back. Then when a lot of the Yankee greats were still with us, you know, with respect to the banners and the opening day in the parade. Raid and the music and all of the dignitaries. It just it really felt like a national holiday certainly in New York. So I have to say nineteen Eighty-eight my first full year in the big leagues and Billy Martin was my manager. And it's right. Call your name run out on the line at Yankee Stadium. The old Yankee Stadium. I mean, come on. I'm getting coups pumps thinking. Yeah. You had and and Bob Sheppard bomb. You number outs in your name. Heck? Yeah. Oh took. So Billy Billy wasn't the one who told you you made the team Billy Martin didn't was no I was forgetting no show ran this was I kind of figured I was having a good spring. Art Fowler was the pitching coach. And no Billy Billy called me in. Yeah. In Fort Lauderdale prior to that probably of couple of days earlier, and I know like Gigiri and Righetti and Mattingly those guys, you know, the older guys know what's going on. And that's when rags asked me where I was staying that wasn't the official announcement. Because Billy then I forget the time. He might have been a day later and Billy called me and told me I made the team..

They have played much better defense and a half court. Then Kentucky has and that's something. That's got a really concerned John Calipari. He is very defensive minded guy shot clock. A twelve on the inbound it's down to six re Travis drop step down the lane fouled by Bolden on a shot attempt. The will get to the free. Line Marquis folded with his third personal. You could see it during the time out. I mean, it's obvious in a situation right now. But Duke, just the enthusiasm and confidence just pouring out. Right. That's the one thing. They both coaches has travis's. I refer wins out. They said the same thing about their teams. Mike told us today, we talked to mate loves these guys. Lackadaisical play in the backcourt. John cale is not gonna put up with still eighteen minutes to go in this one sixty six forty two Duke a foul shot from Johnson. No good. He'll get to the line. His second turnover is reddish driving into a double team. Fouled by PJ. Washington is third. Two free. Throws coming for Duke at seventeen twenty nine to go. Jack lighter was spectacular off the bench. Check in between free throws. Tyler hero. Also will get set to check in for Kentucky. Reddish firstborn is good six eight freshman from Norristown, Pennsylvania. Hero in PJ, Washington out. Certainly Duke wants to play the good defense.
