"He was turned around. Trying to recover, and he just timed it perfectly as he put his hands up and got a piece of the ball second down in 10 Giants are getting very little pass rush here on braiding shotgun. Radio will throw it to the left side. There's room to work. You've got to catch the ball First. Mickens could not haul it in. It's incomplete. Peppers was over there in the vicinity for New York. Tommy, Mr Tommy the minute that ball left his hand. I watched his head. It went right now. He was disappointed. He had bigger ball sailed on. It had a big playwright there out flag, turn it up the sideline. Tommy's not sharp right now. Not coming out of a sand shark. Brady is 10 of 17 79 yards and now looking at a 3rd and 10 from the fucking years, 47 where at 5 59 to play second quarter, Brady looks Grady in trouble. Already a sad letter Williams Brady took An extra second trying to survey down the field, and it cost him. The Giants get home on top rating earlier down. Donovan Smith did a really good job laid in the down. Donovan Smith got beat and Grady goes down. A loss of eight on the play, and the Buccaneers will with opinion. Jabrill Peppers did not work himself deep. He is standing at the 50 yard line. Well, he had to because no one covered the receiver flank to the left of the funner, and now peppers is trying to drift back. Line drive from opinion, and he hit it exactly where it needed to be. But it's scooped up like peppers at 13 Peppers works his way across the 20. And along that right, has she is dropped at the 23 yard line could pick up their jaws. Buccaneers had something working on that left side. Step aside with 4 59 to play in this first half 73 the Giants on top of Tampa Bay..

"The nation on CBS Sports Radio here. Zach Gilb Giants come up with the third down Sack seven. Nothing Eagles on top of the New York football giants of the Giants are gonna get the football back in good field position. I think that was the Michigan product, Jabrill Peppers, who blitz and then ended up taking down Carson. Once they're given a second. Look right here. It was your bill peppers so giant probably get the ball back here unless the stuff that just goes terribly wrong right at midfield in the highly anticipated NFC East showdown between a one in five New York giants of the 1.1. Philadelphia Eagles Eagle seven Giants Nothing that is a high booming kick, but then it bounce peppers has it. He's taken down right at the Eagles 40 yard line, so 40 yards to score. You would think the Giants could put this one in the end zone for 40 yards, but Man they have seen. The Giants offense been pretty a pretty pretty bad throughout times during this year for most of the year, 8552 on two for CBS on the Sack, Caleb show. Let's Go. Andrew in Boston, Andrew Go ahead was going on. Not that much different rate this patriotsoffense. You know, I'm a Patriots fan, just So there's there's not existent skill position players besides, like gentlemen, and James White, and all it is in underscoring to me that Tom Brady Absolutely made right going to Tampa. There's no weapons on offense, and you know if I can Newton after this season I would want to get a firm commitment from the Patriots that they either plan on dropping skill position players high in the draft. For chasing, you know, skill position players on offense to free agency because why would you be song with this theme with weapons if you can use and commit the rest of your crime? You know that? Offensively just doesn't work. I would say the only reason I could give you on that one is Cam just likes being 96% of the offense. We're literally It has to be all on him to win. But you're right. If you look at Cam right now, he has nothing to throw to like Julian Edelman. I love Julian Edelman. But he's not a great football player. He is a good football player. He is not An elite game changer and nickel. Harry has been a massive bust. He's been a massive disappointment. He reminded me of like Chad Jackson, where he just stinks and also the offense. The line's been banged up. No Marcus Cannon opted out and deservedly so because of covert 19 not having him is a big loss. Even though the kid that's filled in a right tackles done a nice job on the other guard has done a decent job as well. But you know, they're without David Andrews for a little bit. Isaiah Win. He's up and down, so I keep on just looking around. And Yeah, that's why Brady left. I know people say, Oh, it's the Belichick and Brady dynamic sure that factors into it. But last year, Brady had no one to throw to So if you ask me or anyone Would you rather get more money and haven't easier job Who wouldn't take that? Brady got more money from the box than what he would have got from the Patriots. Plus, he has Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. So, Yeah, if I'm Cam, here's what I do. I want to stay in New England. But I need to know what their plan is. And if not, if there's a better position or opportunity that presents itself then you walk away. But even looked at the Seattle game. Cam. It was him and Julian Edelman. That was basically it. Then Cam got stuff at the one yard line, and people are criticizing camp. Defense kept a minute against Kansas City Cam wasn't there, Brian or couldn't do anything with this terrible You know these terrible options that he has, but it all starts in the offensive line. The way they're going to win this year's running the football with James White. I'm gonna win with Birkhead. I'll see what Sony Michelle could do with Harris and camera in the football, but they need the offense aligned to be healthy is the biggest problem with the Pats last year. The offensive line wasn't healthy. The offensive line wasn't good. I had a quick exit. Super 53 season was like that offense was great. However, the offensive line played well down the stretch played great down the stretch. They ended up winning the Super Bowl. Jeff and Boise, Idaho. Next up, CBS Sports Radio Jeffrey Got from exactly. I love the show. Thank you. Listen, I just so Ah, I'm from the South and Rachel in a big NASCAR fan. And I've been watching how Nascar's handled. You know the changes this year. I think they really kind of set the glam very standard. And I'm looking at this football team that they have to keep rescheduling and they have to keep moving around. I think it's time that they kind of take one from NASCAR's They look, if you can't play, it's a loss. And you're just you're just gonna have a lawsuit. Geoff. Geoff? Geoff? Geoff. I'm not a NASCAR expert. I'm not going to pretend to be a NASCAR expert. So maybe you could explain this to meal but better. That's an individual sport. You know, football team. If you've got 45 guys to get covered 19 that could spread and then you have that whole team out for for a week and a half, two weeks. You know if you have one team and just give them a forfeit. I don't think that's very productive when you have time on your hands, and you could push this season back if you need to, and Goto Week 18. So so, like a NASCAR fit. If the driver can't drive right, then that driver forfeits their point for that for that race, even if someone else gets in that car and racist Driver doesn't get the point. And you actually saw that in the playoffs where it hurts some of the drivers that were out for a couple of weeks and they lost points and they and they moved on. I just I don't know. I guess that here's my question. What's the answer? Because what happens come Playoff time. A bubble. That's what you do in playoff time, and they're talking about that. I read something on pro football talk..

"Price and coverage match limited by state law. Okay. So then moments ago the executive vice president of football operations, Troy. Vincent sent out a statement on the roughing. The passer conundrum that we have seen. We're putting it up on the screen right here. I'll read it in a second. Again, this is a rule that has been on the book since nineteen ninety-five, but reemphasized in this past offseason or told to be reemphasized by the officiating crews based on the Anthony Barr takedown of Aaron Rodgers that knocked him out last year and essentially destroyed the Packer season and look. Quarterbacks need to be protected for that fact alone. Jimmy g. is gone. And this is through as we all know, no fault of any defenders. He's gone and the the forty Niners now have five nationally televised games coming up. CJ Beathard is gonna get a huge spotlight put on him. In three of them unless NBC wants to flex out of two of them which they can. And the reason why television folks NBC in the recent TV package that's now several years old had the right to flex out sooner is for this reason alone is that let's say, heaven forbid, knock on wood golf is able to go in a couple of weeks for the Rams Sean Manion verses CJ Beathard is not what NBC and the NFL had mind when they put San Francisco in in Los Angeles on the Sunday night schedule early season. So quarterbacks. That's the reason why protect quarterbacks. It'd be helpful of backup quarterbacks, a little better as Packers fans would point out unprepared for when our Rogers goes down. But that said, what ended up happening Judy? Batista said two days ago, and we had her on the phone line here when she reported that the competition committee, some members were not pleased with the way some of these. Roughing, the passer reemphasized roughing. The passer calls were being made the clay Matthews one in particular affected Wynonna loss. The fact that the Vikings tonight are not one and two coming in, but are one one in one coming in is because Tony Karenni a terrific official normally made an absurd call, a clean Matthews football play, got flagged for roughing the passer because he was called, I guess, for lifting in putting his full body weight on him, and it wasn't a late hit. It was a body weight hit, and that's the end of that. And we all know a game sealing interception was taken away and that was absurd. So I asked you a couple of days ago. Is it possible that the competition committee members that were upset and said, they wanted to revisit this issue or at least on a conference call about it is a possibly do this this week. She said, it's set for next week. Happened last night as Troy. Vincent just revealed in a statement saying that the competition committee met last night by conference call to discuss the enforcement of roughing passer rule with specific emphasis on the use of body weight by defender, and the committee reviewed video of rushing the path. Roughing the passer fouls from both this season to date and two thousand seventeen in reiterating its position on quarterback protection. The committee determined there would be no changes to the point of emphasis approved this spring or to the rule of which the body weight provision has been in place nineteen ninety-five to ensure consistency and officiating. The rule, the committee, clarified techniques that constitute a foul. That's the most important paragraph. The fourth and final paragraphs. Video feedback will continue to be provided throughout the season, two coaches players and officials illustrating clear examples of permissible and impermissible contact on the quarterback. Now the issue was after this roughing, the passer call on clay Matthews was that the NFL included reportedly in the video sent to team. And players, coaches and officials that that's a legal hit doubling down if you will on something that outrage so many fence. Well, I'll river on the head of NFL refs along with this statement from the at NFL football ops Twitter site, which I follow. You should too. They put out a video of four hits showing what's not permissible and four hits showing what is permissible. Interestingly enough of the four hits that what is permissible. The Klamath use hit from two weeks ago is not included. Okay. So we take that to mean that's, that's now permissible just by omission. I sure hope so. And Al river on is narrating and not once..

"First or second year guy who's sitting behind a great offensive line and then and then wait for one of the top running backs out and then, yeah, and then you're sensually usually by the end, you're peaking, and then you gotta get lucky in the playoffs. Like like like baseball, this Daryl Morey and you have you won your league, have you one? Yeah, I think I've gone four times. We. Real good player. I wish I'd one more than four in this twenty four one fantasy football, four tons. That's like, yeah, you know what? I got twenty five balls when I go to baseball games and it's up by come on man. That was very casual is I like that. Yeah, no good league. If you're in one to you want to, we might have some of the kick out. There's this here. So if you wanna wanna down. If you if you are kicking anybody out of your league, if you're David Stern, ING somebody, okay, I'm in. Okay. Let me but we'll chat much more before then. And again, all reports are that they don't really come across with what they're asking to be interested in moving, or at least the coach isn't. And maybe if the owners still wants it, it will be directed to be so. Jotted on that good chat with that, but down, Maury, right there. He's won four-times you magic. Like one of the sharpest analytical minds that Michael Lewis is written about? Yeah. Is in your fantasy league. At doesn't sound fun. That fabs take for data Nash. Very good. What when we come back, Troy, Vincent, his sent out a statement. I'm assuming I don't know this. You gotta Myers entertainment on the roughing. The passer situation? Correct. I shall seek out that information in the commercial break and give it to you when we return. "Do you have to do well, but it's, it's obviously a dream, and then checking if people say, fantasy football, fantasy baseball, it's it's, it's not very different. It's about making very solid decisions. Obviously, there's got to be really good with people and things like that that you don't need to fantasy, but but in terms of like the decision making and understand scarcity and working trades and all that, that that all is actually more analogous than than anyone else will actually usually admit. And so I, it's actually one of our interview when we talked to people at the come to the rockets, we I about their fantasy football strategies come on because it really gives us a sense of how they think. So, yes, I am in fantasy football. What do you learn from. Like, are you more apt to hire somebody who does not take a quarterback in the first four rounds of their draft? I mean, like what do you glean from that suburban voter, though, in our interview process that turned every while to say, thank you. Notice rich, everyone is terrible interviewing that's proven, and so we're just trying to get a little bit less than terrible. And what I like to do is is to hear how people think so I actually don't care quarterback in the first round six out. They take a kick early. You can just walk into the. But but but if they're taking a quarterback there, are there are ways to explain taking a quarterback early. I think generally it's the best g, but as long as you give up Lancer we might. We might keep talking if you give a good answer. Why? I don't know if I'd wanna be in a fantasy league with one of the top analytical minds and in sports. I don't know if I'd wanna be in a league with Utara. Who's in your leak college? High school work friends over the years? Yeah, we we've been together since ninety four maybe like that t northwestern is what you're saying or not. So north western, some work friends got the rockets. You know how it is if you don't play. Well, though you're out man, I'm ruthless. I'm the Commissioner, so like you don't if you don't, if you're not keeping up with your team or whatever, we're, we're moving onto someone else how how you like a Commissioner more stern than silver or more silver than stern, what type of Commissioner Commissioner sellers unbelievable, and I love his, but I, I gotta be. I'm more I don't have time, so I'm David Stern as I just like, you know, people are like make it suggestions. I know we're not. I don't have time to worry about your your concerns. Yeah. So. Okay. Just last one for you on this. What is your strategy for fantasy? I'm curious as somebody who uses analytics knows it as well. Doc, generally, I may. I like his Jimmy Butler trade. I don't wanna get any trouble, you know, just talk generally. Yeah. Well, you're not gonna get me in trouble. I mean, it's not like my fantasy football says, is there anything anyone should care about? But anyway. Yeah, I I like the early lack in top receiver in in in round one or two because I I worked the waiver wire lot so usually can snag one of these young running back to the merge later. I work in the waiver wire, so I wanna get one solid running back and one side receiver in rounds one until you can't always do it based on where you were where things. But I, I look there and then you know, and then I don't actually usually worry about quarterback delayed unless there's a real top one, maybe around three still still hanging out there. And then unless I can get a unique defense or tied and wait till late there, I usually sit on the, I sit on the, you know, the handcuffs of like, you know, teams with great offensive lines usually like getting..

"They've got to be the ones to really set the tone for everything. And it do that. They've gotta feel like they're part of everything. So we, you know, I have discussions with them about about everything. It's like I do with our head coach at the end of the day, obviously myself and you know, until men, you know, we're, we're making the final calls, but James, Chris coached Antoni. They're absolutely critical. Any acquisition we make. And if if we don't, if they don't feel like it's gonna fit, we may still to it, but it's pretty rare. I mean, it we want everyone on the same page. Everyone bought in and that's been a big part of our success. Well, one way to prove about buying is to potentially sacrifice for the larger good. The Carmelo bench questions were shut down by him in Oklahoma City. What about there in Houston? Is it possible? He comes off as a six man down your. That's the coach coaches still figuring out what he thinks the worked best. I mean, you know, one of the great things about our season last year wherever the one seed and and and sixty five wins and a hamstring away from winning it is, is every player on our team was willing to take any role, and that's true. And that's here. And and you know, coach is going to figure out the best certaines but you know, no matter what Eric guys like Eric Gordon Campbell bench last here, Ryan Anderson starter. In the past year. I mean, we've got, we've got good players coming off the bench. They got good players starting and and a big part of our successes. Every player's been willing to been willing to do anything and so- Mela may start. Mela may come off the bench though the up to coach Toni, but we have not figured that out yet. So what was your reaction when you look down at Twitter or what have you the day that LeBron signed with the Lakers and you knew he was coming to your conference? Daryl, Maury? Yeah, you know, obviously someone, everything loved to have, but just I, I would say now we know on every chance at don't. But yeah, he's he's an amazing, amazing player and so we're, you know, it's gonna make it that that much harder in the west, at least at least one trae one player when he in Inco are. So at least we balanced it a little bit. You know, LeBron's obviously LeBron and you know, it's going to be another tough out in the Western Conference. I mean, I'm used to. I mean, my whole. Career. I've been a league. I came in two thousand two. So the west is in the best you know conference ever since I've been in the league. So pretty normal. I'm just trying to pick up. Did you think you had a shot at getting LeBron? Were you ready to pitch, or did you try. We go for everybody. We're not. Yeah, we're not. We're not picky. You know, we we go. We go for everybody. I mean, if you're if you're a talented player, Lee, we want to at the rockets. We feel like if we get a chance to talk to you, we get a chance for you to understand what we're trying to do that we've got a real shot. And so obviously we we strike out a lot, but we also swing a lot and and every once in a while we hit, we hit went out with like like we do with James and Chris and and hopefully guys down the road. So just again to continue that metaphor, did you get in the batter's box? Did you take a hack at getting the Bronx? I, you know, you never. You never know. You never know. We, you know, we weren't. We weren't. I don't think we're really in the mixed likely would like to be. I don't, yeah. In this case I don't. I don't think we were. We were. We were sort of. We were do. I think when when when he went somewhere on Jack in the whole, I mean, yeah, I think We're, we. I think we're on deck with a couple of teams. Yeah, something like that. Darrelle more year on the rich Eisen show. All right doubt. So are you in a fantasy football league? Are you a farce, man? I people ask me all the time. They're like, you know your your job so hard and everything. I try to. I try to explain. I I, my job is not hard. My job is..

"We're in mind to beat the warriors, how how does that all compute with the guys that you got? Yeah. I mean, we know that if we're going to win the title, it's almost for sure we're gonna have to be on stayed. I was. We got to beat a lot of other things, but you know, they've won three hours less fort the road. You know the road goes through Golden State. I mean, there's no, there's not spending that, and so we, yeah, the James Ennis Carmelo, Anthony Williams. You know, they're all ranted night. We haven't had a chance to see marquees Chris is doing while in camp. I mean, we're, they're all like fitting in like quickly and you know, work size about him. I would say both maybe mellow and aims on. They're both both really stand. Out early here in camp. Why are you so open about talking about the warriors? Daryl. I just think it's weird to not talk about, like if you like grits, if you ask the fan on the street and you get to do that a lot, I think. And you said, you know, what should the Houston Rockets do? And they would say, well, jeez, you know, the warriors are so good. They gotta be like, it's like almost silly to the not talk about it, right? I mean, they're, they are historically great team. Maybe we'll go down as the best NBA team ever. So it seems to me it's just he'd have to be in complete GM, speak coachspeak the not talk about the warriors and talk about how we have to beat them. So what do you think is the way to beat them down based on what you have your analog. We're, I think we're going at it though the only way possible, which is you've, you know, you've got to be able to face the floor sheets, three gotta be able to the transition. You have to have players who can who can guard multiple positions and stay with, you know, coach Kurt as a great job and their offenses system. A lot of movement you gotta have guys can play and defend though. So yeah, we feel like we've got the the best approach, but you know, frankly, obviously haven't done it. So soon as someone does it, you know, we'll we'll try and copy that if that happens. Hopefully that's us. Hopefully everyone's cupping BS. Next, what about the amassing of bona fide all star players? The so called. Super team. Yeah. No, that's a huge part of it. I mean to go back to what we talked about earlier when when potentially their players available. I, you know, my job, my staff's. I was to look at that for that reason. The only the only way to beat the USA basketball. Team is to, you know, have the USA basketball one eight, you know, have the one eight one team and I have the one eighteen right? You know the team in practice. So I mean, yeah, we we need to have as much talent as possible. And sometimes it doesn't always work, but they really gives us. It gives us a chance, whereas not having a highly town at squad. You know, you may as well pack it in general. Maury here on the rich Eisen show. Do you think if Chris Paul's hamstring had not given way you've knocked off the warriors last year? You know, we do believe that. Obviously, that's unfair. The warriors because you know, they could have beat us with Chris healthy and they had a good all out and but yeah, would have been nice given they have, you know, arguably for the top players in the league, and we think pretty comfortable that we have two of the top players in the lead. It would have been nice if the injury luck had gone the other way where where at least not then down to down to three guys instead of a gos- gone from two to one. So. So, yeah, no, we do believe that we would have done that, but you know, the injuries are part of the game. So I mean, they they want it and you know, we're, we're chasing him down this year. Again, we're Chris Paul and and harden it all part of the acquisition of Carmelo dance. The literally, I mean, we one of the things that I think helped make us successful is you know, at at the end of the day, the NBA teams are all about your top players and they've got us at the culture..

And now it has resulted in appearances. First appearance of hopefully many right here on the rich Eisen show in his twelfth season as general manager of the Houston Rockets, Daryl, Maury, how are you sir? I'm great. Thanks for me on rich are been as Meyer of yours as well. So thank you. Twitter. It's good for something. I, I mean, I always learn so much about politics on Twitter. I, you know, I get so much informed debates. It's really, really helpful. It's politics, Twitter that needs to be avoided at all costs. I think there's a filter for that and I or or calling into the rich Eisen show at this very much. It's a good way to avoid all that. So I'm, I'm glad that you have called in what. What are you up to these days? What does what does Daryl Maury do for the Houston Rockets at this very time of year right now, I'm sitting in a bar outside. I can get quiet background at practice or shit that we're. Yeah, we're buzzing here. I mean, we, I mean, I know I know everyone says everyone's happy act Tober, but you know the the brassieres is I mean, we're, we're very confident this point we're better than last year and obviously we're gonna need to prove that, but every you know, a lot of the new folks who brought in or are really showing stuff, and you know, we're, we're excited. Well, we got there when the rubber meets the road, but we're buzzing and and the phones are buzzing too. I mean, it's a pretty active to your point NBA Twitter right now given camp just started usually usually not. Much does that there's a lot of lot of lot of trait buzz in the air guys to say that I wanna I kinda wanna hit that with you, and I know that it's probably a sensitive subject, but it word is that you are in on the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes is that a fact. I carry just directly address it, but I will say, I mean, obviously, whatever there's whatever there's players potentially available that can help you know the Houston Rockets. It's my job to explore, but I would say we love our team. So I mean, I, you know, we're, we're pretty focused on what we got, but you know what else am I doing? Except trying to explore everything that's that's really what they pay me to do. Well, then let me ask you this question based on what you might be able to talk about. Do you think Jimmy Butler is in fact available? Do you think that they do really want to get rid of him up there in Minnesota, if you can address that. Yeah, unfortunately, like the NBA rules are so so. So yeah, I can't. Even. I can't talk about players on other teams. Holidays. I can't make news today. Maybe I could go against you in the football, you know combine or whatever that might make see, that would be great. So the match. So to use the analytics of this is full blue tar skis zero point, zero of you being able to dress the situation I could out enough to you. I think I could new new lows. So you out of the okay. So in terms of the guys that you did acquire that are there under contract, you told the Houston chronicle that a high percentage of the decisions you made this off season?.

"How are you going to watch that? What? What? What? What should the Michigan fan base due for these two teams watching this one? Do you have any any advice. I don't really have advice on that, but I know no, when I was in when I was in college, you know, I look forward to, you know, watching those games to see how they fared against one another, especially if we played one already or you know we where where up and coming to play them. So it's it's always good to, you know, see how they do against, you know, good competition. Definitely go. That's gonna. Go will. What do you think last one for you? What do you think of the Michigan start so far? This year? You know, I thought we started off a little slow against, you know, Notre Dame, but you know, new quarterback, you know, price them some jitters guys out there. You know, plan for the first time and guard who pass them some some experience, but going up there to south bend. You know, in the night game was a tough environment where you know, you still got to go out there and put your best foot forward and come out on top. So besides that, and plus you never wanna lose to Notre Dame or any of those guys. So size that man, I think they're doing they're doing a great job finding finding their identity finance Wagga, no Gaza scoring points and lots of it. You know, you got DP j making plays on offerings in and in return game. You know, he already has more than me, you know to right now. So you know if he keeps you know, taking home run balls back like that. You know that that does a lot for, you know, team around. Al and momentum. So you know, they just beat up on a big tin foil, and I'm looking forward to the next Gebreel appreciate the call way to fight through the hiccups way to get it done way to focus. Thanks for the call, ever to be babe. Appreciate right back catcher, Gebreel peppers. Dude, that's a dog. So is Myles Garrett. What I tell you about this team has playmakers everywhere defense is nice and guess who sparked at and guess who's thrown the matching their Baker Mayfield. Here. He comes black hole. I guess he doesn't know that Hugh Jackson was the coach there, and he took it over wonder, cute. You bring that up this week. I. What would you say Google Gregoire, Tony mayo at the combine said that defense is set and this was before Myles Garrett took that big, huge. This defensive player of the year stuff. Folks just don't throw it out. Oh, it's the Browns. Myles Garrett is defensive player of the year stuff going on this, no doubt. In my mind, the jets said short week on a road. Let's hand it off and it worked for half and then suddenly Mayfield came in and the team needed to put points on the board and they were going three and out that was part of the narrative. That's why Baker Mayfield was a lot had the comeback. Myles Garrett change the way the jets were looking at that game mid game. And then Baker Mayfield change the way that everybody looks at the Browns for week. We'll see what happens this week, Brown's defenses, top half of the week and yards allowed first downs allowed like they're, they're legit, nah. Soon. We're gonna stop using the the the, the high octave they're legit in. Then we'll just go there legit telling you it's going to take a few more weeks Dowell Maury of the Houston Rockets. When we come back the general manager, what is the latest Jimmy Butler as best we could find out the guy who I guess can't talk about it, but that's next year on the show college football, NFL football..

"Live on our on our our our own app where you can get our podcast, go down video worm hole and vote on the poll question that our our next guest is on hold right now. No doubt I do believe would be pleased with the results after one hour, Chris Brockman when you have over there. Look at it rookie quarterback skies, which QB finishes this year with the most wins. We're going to Josh Allen, Sam darnold Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen. Baker Mayfield leads the way right now. Fifty one percents of mazing. If you asked Browns fans at this point at this very point last year, many of whom as you know, if there was a vendetta Graham, you remember those back in the days worst one circle here and then the circle there. And at what point? The two circles mesh. Okay. Is the spot where there's a common area? So if you want circle was Browns fans in another circle, fans of the Ohio State University football that ven diagram in many ways could be pretty close to two circles completely invalid each other, right? That's how much of a common area there is. I would say. So asking that Browns fan base in that ven diagram meshed area what they thought of Baker Mayfield at this time. Last year. I dare say there might be a few unmentionable words said in that manner. Based on him planting the Oklahoma flag on the Ohio State turf in the middle of the horseshoe. Right, correct. So man who definitely knows how much fan base can go from hating you because of your college affiliation to loving you in Cleveland, Ohio areas on the phone line, none other than Cleveland, Browns defender, Djibril peppers. How are you bro? I don't. I get that accurate. Correct? Na na? No, yeah. I'm still dealing with We're it. still. Maybe maybe maybe we win when we went somewhere games, man. But as right now. Not too much. No. But you don't think that Browns fans are. Are you think that some are conflicted about rooting for you when you put all. Combo hose. I hear it all the time. What are you here? Give me an example you, but, but you know, there are, you know, you know the the, the Browns fans who don't care where I went to school at, but you know, the just like Michigan fan base is so die hard and and you know, always supportive of their unit, you know, I guess, Ohio State like that as well. They, they. The hick ups right now. Star. Hold on a second. Hold on a second. I'm going to scare you. Okay. I'm gonna scare you to try and get the hiccups away, ready? Ready ready. Urban Meyer. Did that scare you? No scare the hit your head re that of a paper bag or something. I don't know what you real pepper secret. Not rich. Eisen show best. You can. Can you describe what it was like when Baker Mayfield winning the game? A one week ago tonight. Oh man, you could just, you know, bake bake Baker showing the practice that you know he's in preparing, you know this, you know, it's always one play away, so you always gotta stay ready. They did a great job of that came in the game, and then he was supposed to do man. So so when he's done, oh, you Tom in time again. And that's the game and win ball game. Got doctor for. So was there a palpable lift on the sidelines because I could feel it through the television set. Definitely, definitely man. And you know, we all wanted to just rally together, but I know a lot of people counted as out, but you know, we've been down before we're no stranger to that, and we know how to claw our way. And I think I think we did a out as well. Gebreel peppers here on the rich Eisen show what's what's it been like in practice so far this week, I think going, well, man, you know, we have a tough task going out there six hours away in the bay area on a baseball field..

"That definitely think is going to be a positive, and then the week before that week, one Michigan, Notre Dame. What are you hearing about this kid? The quarterback? What are you hearing about Patterson coming out of Ann Arbor? What of the words you're hearing about Djibril. I remember him when he was down in the SEC. He's a really good quarterback heavy really been, you know here much lately because I've been trying to get myself right for the season as well. But you know it, it's going gonna be some. It's going to be competition over there too. I don't know that they now say he's starting it while I'm sure I'm sure Harbaugh's keeping that close to the vest for for our ball reasons, but that that that kid better stroll on. Indiana and a couple of weekends. Tell you that real heated. Piece declare now on me, so it's, it's, it's definitely going to be, you know, competition. I don't know how good the the other freshmen is. Number five. The quarterback is but your, that's your job really better, be good. Yeah. Yeah. Saying so. Okay. I feel like whoever they, whoever they start, you know, has has gone through the proper procedures and protocol at the to be called the starter. You knows put their best foot Ford help that team. Well, great chatting with you here. Gebreel you know, last time I saw you face to face because I didn't get to see at the combine. It was on a field after the the game where I was the honorary captain where you ran through a brick wall because of my words couple days before, right. That's right. Yeah. So and on the one in the photograph for showing right now that doesn't look swell. So you know on the one on the left were showing that photograph right now we're, we're chatting after the game. So it's great to see at the next level Brill. And I hope you have a great season. Appreciate it. You got it. You take care of that. You Brill peppers, Brown's safety. You won't give a win total, but. Now, I understand that you could accuse me of being a Michigan Homer. I get it, but I can also put on my professional hat and we'll do so right now. And you know, I've told you the Browns are last year. I made a muck of it by saying they're going to win five games only one, but hearing used you saw your own to is how talented that kid is your own two eyes on that day on that field against UCF is a special plan. Okay. When when UCF wasn't the undefeated UCF but had both Griffin's on on the team. Right k. and you saw what he could do. Hearing him say now he knows everything that's going on on the field. Knows everybody's position that he's studying film a professional, not really knowing how to do it last year or not doing it last year for whatever reason. Somebody like him patrolling that defense on the second level, a playmaker like him having more of a knowledge so he can play faster. That's dangerous, man, playmakers everywhere in Cleveland. You don't think they're going to win at least six games? I don't. I think they're going to be four and twelve. Maybe take a break. I want to just dive into this a little bit more. They're going to have a top five pick again. Yeah, I don't think so. That won't happen..

"Remember I said, you're gonna eventually find. Burgi did just one start as forty one year old. He lost it. And Earl, moral one is the only guy above five hundred where they above five hundred record after turning forty one. When he went one and over Miami. That's it. That's that's the entirety of your statistical pool to try and sense what could possibly come now, let's put it right here. So I'll do the math for you right here far. One at four, one four times Testaverde five Flutie three. So that's twelve, twelve wins of the last three to attempt it. He could surpass it this year just the last three guys to attempt to forty one year old start. He could surpass the number of wins as a forty one year old and one season Brady, no one wants to play till twenty twenty if he can still play that way, he's going to set a standard. No one will ever touch. Again, you're has. It's amazing. And it shows you again, what? What separates between good and great and great. And goat. That's one. And then again Rodgers has that too. This is an incredible sound bite from Aaron Rodgers yesterday because eratures. As we all know, doesn't have Jordy Nelson anymore around there. And I think Oakland will enjoy the fruits of his labor while he's breaking in a lot of youngsters at the position. Obviously, devante atoms the ran the the wild Cobb. Offense is still around there. Randall there. He's got Jimmy Graham. He's got tight ends galore, but he's got a lot of young wide receivers. He's breaking in any called a practice last week, piss poor and then Rogers was spoken to the locker yesterday. He held a press availability and he was asked about whether those comments were taken to heart by a bunch of the players because the kids kind of bald out a little bit in their first preseason game, the wide receivers. But he asked basically, if some members of his team were bothered by his comments, talking about a piss poor practice. Not that song. The hope we can. You know, have your comments, read comments that get offended by professional environment, not person. The things I'm saying, I don't have some been dead against any player. I care about winning number one and I'm going to say, do the things I feel like in advance us. It's going to be tough at some points. It's not a popularity contest all the time. You know, obviously, you know, as a human being liked in appreciated, but I'm trying to win game because that's my, that's my job. I'm not, you know, asked or meted personnel decisions, coaching decisions, schedule decisions, my jobs, but quarterback. So pay me to do. I feel like. Made a pretty happy. So I'm if you I'm doing, I love it. I love it. I love it. Right? You go. I mean, that's a difference being good. Great. Great. Goat he's difference between great goat is you need that you need that Packers needed, desperately desperately. And that's.

"So Maryland is called a press conference for the top of our third hour of our program today, the president and athletic director of Maryland will be speaking as a DJ jerk in their head coach of the football program is placed on administrative leave while they look into the the horrible story that is coming out of their player, passing away to heat exhaustion, heat, stroke. All sorts of nasty stories about how the football program under underpin has placed a lot of stress on players on necessarily using food to to also Hayes. The players it seems it's it's awful and Durkan was the defensive coordinator of Djibril prep when his and his first sees his one season at Michigan as the DC forty year, old guy Durkan who using a ton of Tim nation released his his, his staff is you have to. I mean, it's his staff is putting out there some really hard. You read that article about the SPN put out there on Maryland, just terrible, just absolutely awful. So we'll keep an eye on that. An hour number three's can be busy. Third hour, Jerry Cantrell in studio from Alice in chains. And then Daboh Swinney will be joining us in the middle of our number three Djibril peppers coming up here shortly on the show, Tom Brady, I was just. Scouring through because he, he just got off the phone about a half an hour ago and Boston story. What he told w e says he wants to play in twenty twenty. That's the plan. I hope so. So this is not just a a of final farewells of that. We're talking about each forty three, the three Moore's, this one and two more. We're talking about age forty, three in twenty twenty for Tom Brady. Saying, I certainly expect to be here next year and hopefully beyond I have goals to play for longtime. I still love doing it. I mean, talk about a wet kiss towards Bella check and not just that they get along. So because their priorities are the same. Quote, it's been a very professional environment. He's created, don't forgetting the reimbursement that Bella check has and has created has been quite a lot of conversation based on that these days with people who have left, including what amendola making shots from Miami about. It's more fun in Philadelphia, having their funds saying we have fun and win. You don't have to be so miserable and win the whole time, right? They would rather have fun and win one, the no fun when five. It's been a very professional environment. He's created, and I think I'm very lucky to be in that environment. Brady said, I think he's the best coach who ever coached in the NFL and I feel very privileged to kind of be mentor d- by him as long as I have. Yeah, they'll buy them dinner. I, I mean. That's I mean. He's not pleading the fifth man. I never talked about my contract and that's never been top priority for me as you guys know. I love being here, this community, this organization, I love winning and I love it. My family has had at home for being in terms of quarterbacks to start at least one game at age, forty one or older. Okay. Is only two members of the pro football move ever done that? That's Warren Moon and farve over get far at one of the greatest forty year, old seasons at all time until Brady broke every single one of his records. That's and that's what I'm worried about far season with so great, a forty. He was an MVP candidate. And then the next year the wheels fell off and it were over. But let's and I'm not saying this to be at all, Tom Brady all set for weeks off couple years ago. He also had an entire season convalescing from a knee injury, far plate every damn game through. So I think it's apples and oranges in that regard. But listen, hear me out here. I'm cauti-. Here's your win loss records. After turn. Forty one in the NFL. Brady is trying at this year last try. It was far who went born six then was done over before that was Vinny Testaverde who went five and twelve before that was Doug Flutie who went three and three for the chargers before that was Warren Moon who went five and ten after turning forty one, Steve, Berg..

"Now this is a totally different ball pal. Forty one is a, we just what? What? What he's set to do this year at age? Forty one. Nobody's attempted to do nobody. Nobody's at what? What? What he will be pulling off this year. No one's done. And that's why that right here. And that's why I'm worried. And then there's something our Roger said yesterday that I wanna take a break comeback hit because I loved it. Gebreel peppers is going to be first up. Won't talk about hard knocks. You think the card knocks cameras will be on him when he calls into this show. Do you know every year we get somebody from hard knocks and you ask that same question, it's never had hasn't happened yet. You are in Tom versus time though, do realize though that's not. That's not why I do this, although it's awesome when. On. Yes, you do realize I could game the system. And I don't do that in one way. I could call somebody at mount laurel, New Jersey during the break and say, get a camera over there. Why don't you do that? Because I wouldn't know out because I just set it into a microphone now goes, you've ruined it. But what I'm also saying that I don't need. That's not what I, you're just hoping. No, yes, I am. But I'm also just, you know, I'm better than that. But if my we don't need if somebody is in New Jersey right now watching or listening to this show with the ability to call somebody up in Berea, say, get a camera on Gibreel wherever he is going to be get those things and so bit. I just wanna meet call NASA. That's all I want meat, so you can learn about. It's just every pound entrance of coach is, was he was, I believe he was. You could say he was the week one star and then there's something going on between Todd Haley and Greg Williams. You wanna talk about two alpha males. Are going at it right now tweets yesterday, that Todd Haley is upset that the quarterbacks being hit and practice in Greg Williams screens back at him in a profane matter saying than than block them better and Djibril peppers is gonna join us and it'll be fun talking with talking with one of the more talented kids that Michigan his sent to the next level since Charles Woodson a lot of conversation about that, but he hasn't really shown up yet on the football field for Cleveland, but it's still time yet still young pup. So there's lots of talk about what you Brill peppers, Jerry Cantrell Davos Winnie. I know that you and are courting producer, Don Bowie were cooking up. Let's see how well thought out that whole process was for the Browns. Again, Antonio Calloway getting popped for pot and other other sundry items in his car the day that they send Korey Coleman away making Korey Coleman, expendable because this. Hid has got all sorts of talent despite more flags than a than a than an amusement park. Let's see. Let's see how well-thought out it was tonight on HBO. But any. We just want people to get to the regular season healthy and then we're beginning to also this time of year get into a little bit of the swing of things for regular season football. What do I mean by that? Okay. You're getting to see a little bit more of a salty sound soundbite in relation to competition within the team. You're also seeing, obviously more fights jets and the Redskins had an awful fight that spilled off the field yesterday. Another reason why, let's let's start playing football out guys are ready. You're also seeing a little bit more of the swing of things that you're going to be seeing every single week in the regular season to what one, Thomas Edward Brady speaking to the local. Radio station, was that e in Boston today? He does that normally what every Monday doesn't. He do that every during the season. Although year member they well, he hung up on them because one of them called is is one of them called his daughter because she was wanting during the face ball. And then Tom said he would have to think about his relationship with them in the future. So I don't know if that's been renewed this year he's back and he, he even felt bad that he made life miserable for the person who called him a percent called his daughter. Remember that when it came around fast, Super Bowl, he's kind of like, all right. I said my didn't want him to be fired thing, right? Tom Brady today, I think our priorities are the same that they've always been on. I think that's why we get along. So, well, we're here to win, who's the way and Bill him and Bill check. Now, the reason why I want this regular season to start right now, how much time did we spend here. A lot thinking that whatever went down last season with Garoppolo and the Seth worker show ESPN story. And what that would mean when this regular season rolls around Garoppolo being sent away because Brady supposedly wanted him out and Alex Guerrero Brady's. Fitness guru kicked across the street. If anybody wants to go see him, he's no longer allowed in the facility and how bad it is. All comes down to it. Brady's got a contract. He's making fifteen million, which is an absurd number. When you see garoppolos making damn near double, but he's got some incentives. He's forty one as if this man needs any monetary incentive. It all comes down here. He's now saying right things about Bill. They're on the same page. We won them. That's why we get along. Well. Whoa, to the rest of the American Football Conference is all after say, if Brady can be protected. And if somehow someway, father time does not catch up to him at age. Forty one. Forty one? No. Last year, what he did last year we have seen years of age forty. Out of quarterbacks far of moon Vinnie. Right? Very Verdy, pushed it. Now we're getting now we're getting close to the Burgh. He's got the Shawn Watson balling out in the next level, the Clemson wide receivers, bowling out. At the next level. He's getting set to send the number two team in the country onto the football field in just a couple of weeks from now, against firm gets good old Berman. Okay. Gotta get it for Firmin. Make a teacher get up for firm and everybody. Wow, no, look, I, it's it's always fun talking to Davos swimming. We've we've had him on the show multiple times always a fan of how he goes about his business and off of that Sugar Bowl loss to Alabama last season. Are we going to see Alabama, Clemson, four? Can we see that again? I mean, can we just keep running it back? We've seen it in the NBA will be in college football. Once again, dabble is going to be joining us shortly. That's going to be an hour. Number three. Got some fantasy football on on the brain with Jerry Cantrell of Alison chains. He's got a new album, rainier fog coming out. What are we looking at first round? What do you think? I'm more focused on the the, the league in which I already have a draft choice. My buddies league, the one that I really, really want to win. Can we just start this right now? And I say this to AB who's been on the show, and I say this to Jalen Ramsey who I had fun with at the NFL honors last year because we sat directly in front of him and I just wanted to let him know. I've been in the league fifteen years. He's been in just for a couple. At some point. He will be further up than me and then the NFL honors, but I had fun with them. And can we just not bash the media quijote's not get what's going on in the political world entering the sports world Ed bouchette who's been covering the Steelers for about four. Two years. It seems like, right, I'm sure it's made even have that forever and a day. Right. And and he tweets out, looks like Antonio Brown's, limp off the practice field Antonio goes back on Twitter and curses amount. Can we just, you know, whatever. So so. So what if had got it wrong, it doesn't matter. Go out and ball out. Don't bash the media. Don't do this. It's not. Let's not spend our time going after local media as Jalen Ramsey getting a week off to by the way. I don't know what a punishment data's Antonio Calloway getting fifty seven snaps in a pre punishment..
