Malcolm Gladwell: I Am

"Malcom gladwin is a stone cold genius who loves A grade sports argument. I went onto bill. Simmons podcast and I had this totally ludicrous thing that I want to talk about. Which was I was like? Could a basketball team made up of Nigerians? An all time basketball team made up of Nigerians be the greatest basketball time and then I ended it. I amended until as I said all right I have to corollaries one is. I'm going to add west Indians because almost Indians not all mostly I'm Jamaican. Where am I what am I people from? We're from originally like I'm Ibo right most Jamaicans cable so I add the Caribbean and then I said and just refund. That's also add the rest of Southern Africa and then I construct the students. Tony Ridiculous Caribbean so busy. I say out can Africa and the Caribbean put together an all time team. It's better than an african-american team a euro team at a white American team. It's the third one. Maybe not. The answer is yes. We don't have time to do this but I will convince you. I can't convince you to Africa and the Caribbean in basketball. All Time team and also your co you qualify by or Nigeria. Will I started? I start with all of ethnic did not all? I'm only adding. I added Southern Africa. 'cause I WANNA have Steve Nash and Joel Embiid on my team. Wade Steve Nash. Born in Johannesburg. He's Canadian. No my rule is that you. Are you qualify? Virtue of your parents. Place a birth. So get all of Steve. Nash Who Play Thompson. Really? He's Bamyan are are are taking. Tim. Duncan Tim Duncan Hang Hau Kim Elijah Akeem Joel Embiid Yoenis Clay Andre iggy Dow Victor Depot Drink Igwe Dolla. Where's he from Nigeria okay? He's full on your deal and Steve. Nash I got a back court of Nash and Thomson. I got a frontcourt of Dunkin embiid. Jaanus Patrick Ewing forward a okay. Right right right right from the islands. This really is in the island. This team is insane when Patrick's coming off the bench. But how just doesn't matter but Kim Jaanus and but sure but but the other team has Lebron Kobe. Japan Michael I know. Just for starters and Steph curry just restarting Potanin Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Just just try go ahead. That's the African American teachers. Try Playing Lebron Jordan. Notice what we doing that thing ooh together. Thomas can't come in and Magic Johnson coming in. Can I read this out rushing your your appetite? Engineer Crushes Team Sport Play. You cannot Jordan Jordan and abroad and Kobe on the court at the same time out of your mind. You have all centers you have one forward you have you have guards and a bunch of centers. You got a problem with that because the modern game nobody in the known you already. Janis on Lebron an WHO's covering Jordan who's covering stats got covering step. I got clay and Andrea Diallo. Who in their day or two of the greatest lockdown defenders of the last twenty five years in the NBA? I got a clay and national or two of the pure as shooters and I have argued with the greatest defensive front court in the history of basketball. I Have Yoenis Hekim Akeem Patrick embiid. I mean I have wilt Bill Russell Shack. It's close by. Queen is not close if I had if I was restricted to white Americans. Then maybe may point so I do it as long ludicrous. It's ludicrous ludicrous. And you're right I'm wrong but so what is it that there are people took offense. How on Earth? What is they were like? Oh you know you Kim like first of all all the things to get worked up about in two thousand eighteen in America about race. This is the thing you have said about

NBA Storylines Down the Stretch

"Doris Burke is an NBA analyst for ESPN so doors the All star break is over and NBA. Games are back. We wanted to talk to you. About what surprised you so far this season. And how you see the last couple of months shaping up as we enter the homestretch before the playoffs. Let's start in the East right where there is an unequivocal number. One team in Milwaukee they have the best record in the NBA and they are destroying teams winning by an average margin of victory of more than twelve points per game now of the eleven teams that have had a double digit margin of victory over the course of a season. Eight have gone on to win it. All Doris. Is there something that stands between Milwaukee and the NBA Finals? Yeah this is a great question. So in their eight losses the one thread that is consistent throughout those are teams are averaging sixteen point nine threes and philosophically. Their priority is protect. The paint. First and foremost they are so elite. At that that we have not seen this kind of rim protection in the modern NBA. With the possible exception of Spurs team that had both Tim Duncan and David Robinson but the fact of the matter if a team gets hot and really can create shot opportunities then. I think that they can be beat. The other thing that happens is your and you saw in the All Star game. Jaanus is the first player to go twenty five and eleven back to back all star Games but he was over to note points in the fourth quarter because they did playoff teams. We'll do they set up a wall and they said somebody else is going to beat us so well. No one's really doubting the bucks at this point. I think there is still a lot of skepticism about the number two seed in the east the Toronto Raptors. I mean after losing finals. Mvp Kawhi Leonard. They were not seen as favorites coming into this year yet. They have the same record right now that they had at this point last season doors one hand the raptors have been under five hundred against winning teams but on the other they had a lot of. Are we underestimating them? While I'm definitely giving them punchers chance to get to the Eastern Conference finals and a punchers chance to come out in the past historically particularly when Demar Derozan Kyle lowry. Were on the team together. What we knew was they understood how to win in the regular season but they're always seemed to be this level of doubt in their minds when the calendar turn to April but the fact of the matter is. They changed that a year ago with championship. There is a different feel a different presents a different countenance about the entire group and yes unequivocally the record versus plus five hundred versus minus five hundred is concerning but let's remember that their top six guys including Serge Ibaka. Who's having the Best Year of his career? Kyle lowry Markelle Saul Fred Van Bleed. Norman Powell Pascal them. All six of those guys have missed at least ten games so I don't know that we have the clearest picture the other thing working in their favors they have one of the best coaches in the league. Nick nurse wears that head coaches mantle with ease. Why because he's been calling the shots for the vast majority of his career. In any number of circumstances his creative he's fearless. He's a little bit irreverent. And I'm telling you mean ah I give them a punchers chance to get to an east finals and a punchers chance to get out. Did you see this coming at all? Doors not even close and this is the question really ultimately. Do they have enough offense in what you're seeing is to me. What appears to be this grooming of Pascal? Ceac him of all right. You gotta go get your own in those minutes and a playoff circumstance where you don't care whether it's a mid range to a fall away jump shot a jump shot under duress of excellent defense. What matters is I need to put the ball in the basket right now because this game is teetering on our control or there's and we've got to have one and you're watching Pascal. Can he deliver in the postseason? He's been excellent in the regular season. I can't wait to see a play out. I think it feels right now. Like you've got the bucks in a tier of their own and then you've got the raptors celtics heat kind of swirling around each other. There was a feeling ahead of the trade deadline that the heat could vault to that number. Two spot perhaps even contend with the bucks if they really went all in and added Gala Nari. They didn't they did add Igwe Dolla. Do you think that's enough? You know the the last prism through which I saw. Andre Gonzala was a man who was battling an Achilles in the playoff series and seemed to be showing the signs of some age. But what I know. Unequivocally is this man from a basketball intellect standpoint. According to Kerr is one of the smartest in the history of the League. He has got championship. Dna He's got positional versatility on the defensive end that basketball intellect and the ability to process information quickly and to do it under the spotlight of the playoffs. He has all of that. I'm anxious to see how he changes the dynamic the Miami Heat. You know this. They're going to play hard defensively every single night. They're going to mix in one of the most effective zones we see in today's NBA and Eric's bolster is outstanding coach. So right now sitting in that fourth spot how far Jimmy Butler can take them. That'll be interesting. Those young guys. Right Duncan Robinson Tyler Hero Kendrick Nunn all those guys who have performed so well in the regular season when the calendar switches. Can you win with them? Let's see

No Kawhi? No problem. The Raptors are still showing why they're champs

"How insane would it be if the Raptors won the title this year without Kawhi? I mean that we would be talking about that as one of the greatest this championships in the history of sports. I think if your best player leaves your team like I'm kind of rooting for it to happen like I. I love this team play hard. I think they have every single player on their team. I trust in big moments. It's insane and a lot of those guys are young guys. They're undrafted guys like Vanfleet has taken a whole another step to the point. Where like we were talking about yesterday? Rick I take van flee every single time over de Ngelo Russell. I think family. That dude is a beast. I love that guy. He's a he'll be a free agent. I assume he's going to come back in the future. But what do you I mean what do you think about this the team I mean. Obviously you're still very high on them. I think we would you put them. Would you put them on an even footing with the bucks come playoff time because of their history because of them winning the title last year. And because of this winning streak streak I would I would and the danger is do they have. I don't know quite have a Jaanus but possible. Siachen doc can can is a version of that a replica of that and they just what I really like about them. Aside from their collective active experience is the versatility of the roster. You just mentioned it like they can play big and be very very good as as good as anybody not like Philadelphia's size doesn't make them flinch in the lease and yet if they WANNA play small. They are comfortable doing doing that as well. And I also for all of the talent like this is this is the ingredient that I think people miss is that they all have to share last year and they all had their opportunity to step up and they did at various moments so they understand understand the dynamic and the chemistry that goes into winning a championship that there is no other team that can boast host that right now in the league this is why I liked them from the beginning and it was Siachen. Had to take another step van Vliet had to take another step but I saw them where they were in the arc of their careers that I said it's possible there. We haven't seen the best of them yet. I mean maybe we have but there's the potential that they could get better so so for all those reasons that's why that's why I agree with the IT'd be a great story. I just like to see the raptors in the clippers in the finals for juicy of the story lines and I think they match up with the clippers and the clippers. Have that one question that I have. which is you know now that you have all the pieces I think they have the best composition in the Western in conference? But can you. Are they going to have the chemistry. Is everybody going to Understan- and this is how I contribute. And contribute to the utmost in this way A.. And that's what's GonNa make us that's GonNa put us at our best. I feel as if the Toronto Raptors they don't have they don't have to discover that they know how that works works and that understanding is I think just invaluable for any team.

NBA 2020 Predictions

"About My tween twenty bold predictions now. This isn't just for the regular season. This is for the off season. This is the beginning of next season to these addiction that I think that potentially could happen. I'm going to say them here today. And maybe you can agree with me some. You may think this crazy in some you might agree with. We'll have to see my first pro. Prediction is that both L. A.. Neither one of the LA teams will not make the Western Conference finals. I think a team will beat them or since the clippers. Don't take care too much about seeding in the Lakers. Stay the number one seed if the clippers land four or five. They'll play the clippers in the second row. They'll play Lakers around. which would men? 'cause obviously semifinals matchup US and other Western Conference finals match. But I also feel like there may be a team that could upset me maybe Houston is probably the most likely that could upset one of the LA teams and. I think that they're going to keep them from making the the the Western Conference finals. I know a lot of people were expecting that to happen. A lot of people are wanting to happen. I'm sure it will be great for the Lee but I really think that that's something in my opinion that I think is going to happen. That's one of my first. Bold predictions of the twenty twenty season in further on my eh prediction is that the Golden State Warriors will form another super team. Now I don't know if there's going to be with Jaanus. It could be a cry towns because Golden State is monitoring situation but Golden State clearly knows. Listen with the way the League is if we want to be on topic how can we need to get an update US another super team together and I think that they're definitely trying very hard to get another another star player in there now. I do like that. Probably means that's the end of Draymond Green. But I think that's what they're aiming for taming to get their aiming to get another star in there to see to come back with clay and to come back with Steph potentially really they can make you trade for star because they if they do get a top three lottery pig. deathly do not be surprised. If they try to make a trade with that pick honestly they honestly could have just picked up an amazing asset for them because they could use that as trade bait in. That's good trait rate. You know maybe the team star is disgruntled. Maybe you never know. I mean this isn't somebody would think about like the sons have another bad year. We'll we'll give you our top pick and another guy. And we want Devon Booker. Obviously Yona how that work I mean you know. They're kind of doing the right now. And the end of the Russell even yeah no. We Really Devon Booker may be a better player Neanderthal Russell. But that's definitely a prediction I think could potentially happen. I think that the warriors warriors will form another super team. But it's not going to be as top heavy instrument of Kevin Durant who like the second best player in the League. That's why think if they got Jaanus it would be stacked because of state Stephan Klay can play like they play and then they completely put a better supporting cast around. Then you could say okay. Yeah this team is going to be very tough to beat. Even laker teams have a team. They may be looking up to but it will have to see because if they get any towns houses. This is a great player but we don't view him as view when Kevin Durant was there which means even though it would be very top heavy west conference. But that's when also and my pro predictions one of my other pro predictions. Are I think that revenue from the C.. BA will increase which will lead to more players undeserving of big major contracts. Getting big major contracts. I'm going to say any names. But it's like okay. Well I'll say this because I don't know if he's GonNa get it but there are people who are sometimes wonder now dre walgreens supposed to be a free agent this offseason offseason Draymond Green. We know he's not a guy who's going to score points we can do live. And he's a great gadget player. I would say but some people wonder. Would somebody pay draymond green the Max would they give draymond green that Max deal. That is something they definitely wonder about and like a question. Like why would you give you Max. If if there's more money to be spent draymond green could potentially ask for Max and if you like laundry a month you might give them close to it. I mean we already have players now. who try to sign that? First Max deal then take a shorter deal. Just didn't end up getting of that. Ten Year supermax dill. But you know it's one of those those things where I think that this will lead to more players being signed overpaid and I mean you obviously can see more cat room. It can lead the teams being in very weird financial situations with cap every team six Performing up to expectation and then you played a lot of guys a lot of money who may have never actually deserve the money in the first place so. I think that that's going to be something that's going to be interesting another addiction I have is. I think that James Harden will make it to the NBA Finals Cheer. I know that's pretty big. That basically means you're saying he's GonNa beat one or both La Teams. I think James Harden. This would be the best year for him to do it. I think right now this I flew. This is his best year do it. So I'M GONNA go ahead mcnabb. Oh predicts names hard. It's GonNa make the finals. These the rockets are GonNa make the finals. This may be shocking to you. But that's how I feel. I feel like that. Jr potentially do it. I feel like if he was able to average at least thirty in the playoffs and Russell could give him about twenty twenty three. That's fifty three between the two players and they have some good supporting cast. You can't forget about. PJ Tucker can't forget about Erik. Gordon Clink Appel. You definitely feel like they have all the potential attention in the world so potentially be a top team and so I would not be surprised if they end up being the top team they think they can be and making it to the NBA NBA finals. This year in basically just creating just such a great agree moment for the city Houston also another prediction. I think Diane if he comes back as soon as they say he come back. We'll still win rookie of the year. I think Zaylon has all the talents. Be A star of Zion. Comes back in balls out in just twenty points a game in gives you a lot of highlight plays. I think he will be able to squeeze out winning rookie year only only playing half of the year again. That's a pretty bold prediction but as I've anybody can do a Zairean can all takes his cause. Remember even the Luca one owned by a lot last year. You trae young exciting second half which made it interesting and don't be. We don't feel like John Moran is doing with Luca Danni last year so it's not as far fetched is not as it's not like oh it's completely impossible for Luca played so well and then trae young play well in the New Year but he's still play. Okay well it's like John Mirant is playing. Maybe the best right now. But he's not playing at local level from last year so of Zion can have maybe a trae young like surge in the second half of the season. I think he'll go ahead and win the rookie year. But it all depends on when he gets back. 'cause I do if he didn't get back to maybe mid February with that he wouldn't. It's only two months left in the season. At that point. He has to probably get back to move in the next two weeks and then just start going on a tear from game one because dial is full practice recently so he's clearly about to get there. Obviously you've seen him take jumpers you've seen him dunk Donc so I definitely things I on can win the rookie year if he gets back in time and my last bowl prediction is that the Atlanta Hawks will add a star player. This off season. I don't know who but I feel. They're gonNA add some but I feel like some of the issues they've had I flipped. They're going to add a star. Because I feel like you need to especially to make trae WANNA stay there because rotations rumblings that he might and I wanna stay. That may be something that you may want to do. If Your Hawks Front office you need to add some talent in their yep some good young talent but you're going to you know how it is as league view in a win you're gonNA have to give up that good young talent for solidified star. Obviously I feel like trays untouchable. But maybe Kevin Heard. Or maybe you D Andre One hundred maybe a cam reddish maybe push them shelby John Collins and I think they're gonNA make a trade for a proven star in this league and we'll have to see whoever that star is how far the Atlanta Hawks may potentially get because of it but that's it for me thank you for listening listening to the GMC football basketball podcast on the GMC podcast network. Giannis Antetokounmpo walks out on postgame press conference after playoff elimination

"Got this. I got screen capture a couple of people on Twitter. You can tweet me at Sean Pendergast when I was giving Janas grief, forgetting up and walking out of the press conference couple people had alerted me to the fact that the reporter asking the question was someone by the name of Melissa Andrews, and she tweeted. Apparently a link. Where the story is bucks, elimination puts focus on Janas future. In milwaukee. She tweeted with the buck season ending abruptly to in shy, the NBA finals, a source close to Janas attend Toco. Tells ESPN a finals run in twenty twenty tipped the scales for Janas to sign with Milwaukee long term. In other words, in other words, Jaanus who's now eligible for a supermax deal after next season is keeping his options open. If someone speculating on your future, as a an an MVP level player who's eligible for a supermax something that makes you get up and walk out of a press conference, then man, I don't know what to tell you. This is what happens in this day and age people speculate about other people's futures, especially in the NBA where history tells us that there's about a fifty percent chance, you're going somewhere else, Jaanus and the reason I say that is not anything that you've said, but just look at the first second and third team all NBA teams. Half the guys that comprise those fifteen players are playing on different teams now than they were even a couple years ago. Paul, George was pacer two years ago. Kevin Durant was with Oklahoma City three years ago. Quite Leonard was a spur this time last year. Kyrie Irving been in Boston, two years after starting out in Cleveland, we know lebrons history. Blake Griffin got traded to Detroit last year. Kimball. Walkers, probably leaving Charlotte is if you believe some of the things that you read. So man, this is the world we live in even James harden was started his career. And okay. See, I know most people associated with the rockets. Stay for the rest of the press conference man. Give a generic answer move onto the next question. If indeed. That's why you walked out. Maybe if you had been walked out didn't answer, somebody's question. Because you like an article that they wrote, I don't know what to tell

"Fact that came out about Jaanus in this game and about the way coach, bud organizers their strategy offensively inside of three feet in this series inside of three feet, Yonathan shooting sixty-five percent outside of three feet. The honest is shooting nineteen percent. He's only taking seven shots outside of the restricted area only seven. So if you don't do things in transition. You the paint. I don't think they play or have the resources. That's what makes the warriors good the, the different variances of their offense that could beat you on a variety of ways. And less ten seconds of shot clock. Yeah. You talking about right now a bucks team. They were five for fifteen in less ten seconds, which is basically poor offense as opposed to on the other side. The raptors fifteen field goals in the last ten seconds, making good decisions be more fishing offensively. When the game is on the line straight talk wireless, everything for less only at WalMart. The raptors coming back to win game five these finals by six over the bucks in Milwaukee first road win of the series with more on the east finals and also on raptors superfan, Toronto native musician at hip, hop artist, Drake, ESPN's Richard Jefferson Ed sportscenter with Kevin Gandhi. I wanna say less about Jaanus and more about the other individuals in this year's we so what vanfleet did he kept them in it, and really gave them such a boost off their bent for Milwaukee, they're going to need somebody to step up. We're going to need one of those big brook Lopez's game. We're going to need to see Middleton step up. He can't perform the way he performed. I, no, he did a lot of other things. But that was the thing about Kawai Kawai can do a lot of stuff. And I think Nick nurse was using that as kind of like his ace in his pocket, like, hey, I don't want to wear you down. But at once you're down there is no more ace, you're trying to put your best foot forward in once they did that they really took control of this series, okay? Now game six tomorrow night in Toronto. Meaning we will expect to see Drake roaming, the sidelines. All right. I'm gonna put you on the bucks team. How would you handle the expected noise and all that chatter in the theater that we're going to see from Drake tomorrow night? We'll I can personally say, I was very very fortunate to play against Toronto multiple times in the playoffs. We played against them in the conference finals, and Drake is front and center. He is the modern day, Spike Lee. He's jacked for the Lakers. He's that guy that just embodies everything that Toronto in Canada's trying to do you know, the best way to do it, the best way to shut Drake up is a sin Toronto home. If you don't like him dancing has Reggie Miller, if you don't like all that Spike Lee is talking about then, you know what you do you start doing this, and you start killing them. That's the best way to shut Drake up. Yeah. Start making buckets from the outside then turn around. All right. We'll see if that happens tomorrow night. Now you wanna title with LeBron Kyrie in Cleveland, you're on that Cavs team when was trading to the Celtics. There is some traction here to kyri potentially reuniting with LeBron, of course, it gets ramped up after LeBron liked a photo of kyri photo shop in a Lakers uniform today on social media, and you say here we go. So how do you view a possible reunion of these two stars in LA as? One thing that I think every player has to right to do whatever he wants like Kevin Durant. You can go to Golden State, but understand that people might criticize, you LeBron can go to Miami. But understand, people might criticize you if LeBron Kyrie want to rejoin and want the team back up and understand that there will be a higher level of appreciation for each other. I'm all for these guys should do whatever they want. Whatever makes them in their families. Happy. Sportscenter allnight ESPN radio. I'm Jan rider turning to Golden State Warriors with plenty of time to rest before the NBA finals looking for it. Three peat Golden State with four-game sweep of the west finals sweeping the series without all-star. Kevin Durant spoke with reporters for the first absence suffering a strained calf on may eighth dran address the notion by some that Golden State plays better without him in the way that some still don't see him as part of the warriors collective group player. That.

"When you look at the league from a national standpoint, it may make sense to play a little bit earlier in the west and that's something we're gonna talk to our teams about this summer every interesting. Okay in badavatz movie. West coast games and times up is a good idea for the NBA think it's a good idea for the postseasons on what to say inbound. But I don't think it's a good idea for the regular season. East coast viewers are not worried about the warriors regular season. They are worried about them in the season. And the one thing you caution against is there is this perception of an east coast bias in east coast media bias. And if you start doing things like this unilaterally. Kind of feels like you're just doing this to placate in east coast. You're the Western Conference finals, even though it was a sweet and in, in Portland couldn't find a way to win games. "Jaanus on the punch that comes up that Milwaukee bench as Michael just mentioned forty four loan from a trio of players is so nice seeing guys on come into the game being mentally prepared. Say it's home for the whole team, and the just Wayne hard in, in any given that can step up knowing what is going to come from tonight. There's great game Joe Sheila big game in game three someone else going to have a good game. So this beautiful beautiful our team though, we trust one another and. Winning so good to look on. He also thinks change venue will bring different challenges for game. Three game way tougher than the game one game to play on their home now. But I think we'll be go go tomorrow, west clips tied to give better. But then additional about us in though, if we do our job defensively movable offensively and just do our job Jones. We're going be fine. But definitely the goal come out of its own trumpet hard to protect home. But with all right. That being said Stephen a Smith speed peon sportscenter can't see this series changing. I can't see Toronto win a more than one game. This series actually said it was over after game one because in that game a Leonard had thirty one Kyle Lowry had thirty Milwaukee shot just twenty five percent from three point range eleven for forty. Four five remember correctly has still wanted to damn game. So know what is no way on earth. After a week of rust and them still finding a way to beat you that they were gonna lose game two. And sure enough. That's not what happened. They blitz Toronto in the first half it was over by then. So when you look at walkie they've got sized they play defense. They man up. They have perimeter shooting collectively that exceptionally well coached. They go after it, and they're starving, and they lead the lead by the dominance of the Greek freak when you look at all of those things, I think there's only one thing that could potentially knocked them off. And that is a healthy Golden State Warriors, because they can beat you from the perimeter all night long win. K D is on the floor with Klay Thompson, that Steph curry buddies, not. And because he's not Scott. I don't believe they'll go to state war is that we saw last night, a game two against Portland would beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA finals day need. Otherwise, Milwaukee's gonna win an NBA championship this year. Toronto's fortunes. To change Kalari who scored fifteen on the heels of thirty in the opener thinks that begins with their defense. We play a little bit better. I mean, we got to play better defense I think maybe give a hundred twenty points two points. I think in the playoffs, we play much better decent teammate. Mark is, Seoul, the man in the middle says put this one on me. Beginning kind.

"I'm not saying that Milwaukee is Indiana's on the same level, even with the depot as Milwaukee. But what was the difference because they're pretty good defensive team? And now is it just a matter of strategy. Is it a matter of kyri as you mentioned regressing? What's changed with the very least an equally aggressive defense? I res definitely cold. He's on a cold streak right now. Milwaukee's defense is longer. I would say they have Jaanus who's been incredible. Not. But the thing is that you know, Jaanus and Myles Turner for two guys might even end up being I to multi they're all defensive players right shows. The anchors of great a really good defense and Turner was was good in that Indiana series. But the difference in the speed and intensity with which Jaanus rotates over stuff shot is almost unmatched in the NBA and Janas turning into with amazing is like he's probably the most softball player in the NBA right now. And he might be becoming the best defender. One of the best defenders the MPA. So he's serving the best in the game. And he thought tonight that there were just so many times or look Blake Celtics have broken through Milwaukee's Wong and physical defensive permettre and then yon brook Lopez. Who was also is also had really good in this series but come over and a race. And you know, there weren't a ton of blocks tonight. But there were. At least from Indiana for ninety the watches perspective. But Milwaukee did spend a lot of shots at the rim. Very well. And I just don't think Boston has been able to like their wings have been able to finish comfortably at the rim. Al Horford has been able to get his post at the rim, which is something they go do their often struggles just the thing that the Celtics can usually find really happening for them consistently. Let's look at a specific. And despite the game on Monday, which wasn't necessarily a great one shooting from the floor. But Jason Tatum, how how much would you say fans to media? It's just people watching this series with an interest with the Celtics would be frustrated with the the play of Jason Tatum. And I'm not saying that, you know, it's milk crate level where you know, you asked where is he like, you know, Kyle Lowry for a couple of games and the Rafter series. But it seems like he's been disappointing more so than not. Yeah. I mean, I think they were probably be the guys that you're looking on the car. Paint them was really good for the first half of the game. He had like fourteen and nine early another quarter. I believe so he was putting up numbers. He had one or two good drives the she just has really struggled to get to the rim. And he was kind of the guy that I was thinking about an answer as far as guys that are having trouble getting to the usual finishes. But you know, Tatum has fallen back on those bad habits that keeps her head out early this year, and they tried to do them out over time. And then they just kind of kept creeping back in over and over and over, and there's just no consistency to the eight of us when playing this year, and you can really say that about pretty much everybody on the Celtics offense. He will. I wait you much on his turn around fatally seventeen Twitter, which is it's kind of like what we say about Tyree shots election. It's like those are terrible shots. But also if you can hit it pretty routinely. Then I get some terrible not terrible shot. But the degree difficulty the shot so unnecessarily high that it just kind of seems like a complete waste, and he he just call back on that throughout the series a little too much. And I thought he did a pretty good job of game for trying to persist that trying to be smarter by the shots election. But it seemed like him and just kind of everybody else faded later in the game. I guess, you know, second half of the third quarter in the fourth quarter in. I think it has to do a lot with just there wasn't the word. They were moving the ball or the retrying move the ball. But they didn't seem to know where they were trying to move the ball to they didn't seem to have competence..

"B. S ZipRecruiter is. The smartest way to hire. All right. I'll NBA have Jaanus George Embiid. Curry in harden. I put Embiid first team all bay Oreo catch even though he played like thirteen less games. But I mean Embiid was like twenty eight and fourteen this season. And and this is purely a performance in doesn't have any available partners. I'm going to actually flip it on just the Yokich thing. Okay. So I was fifty one forty nine then be I really hard. And you know, if you're doing the first team Versi MVP argument, I'm with you on kind of like buying into what what did you actually have to do? But even the analytic stuff for Yokich is in his favor. Even though I know that defensively he's not. But I you know, I feel like Yokich good is the kind of guy was like could score even more if he wanted to. So I weighed that in the the defensive metrics Embiid out of control, which is funny because sometimes I watch him, and I feel like anybody can just take it to him either get a lower scoring him, but his rim protection stats are out of control. There's so many right through to go bare. He's he's like he's got and then his recovery. Yeah. Or his last like, oh, you thought you had a window there? Now, you didn't. And it still matters that he's seven foot three. And if I'm playing guard on the other team, and I'm driving to the basket. I'm thinking about him the whole time. I'm not thinking about Yokich. "Combination of Embiid Jaanus Leonard, especially defensively what you could do. That's that's pretty amazing. Yesterday. The chiefs announced that they hired yesterday yesterday not not two days ago, not tomorrow. But yesterday. Gotcha. She's nafta. They hired Steve Spagnolo as new defensive coordinator replacing Bob son Agnello spent many years in the NFL's defensive coordinator most recently from two thousand fifteen or twenty seventeen with the giants during those three seasons. Giants ranked in the bottom fifth in points allowed per game in two of the three seasons while they rank second and the other by ourselves Steve Spagnolo being a good higher for the chiefs. I don't love it. I love it. So I'd like to be wrong. And Andy Reid is certainly so shown inability to to be collaborative and empowering to his offense inclined colleagues the is on his staff defensively. Andy Reid needs to defer more and have a person who can come in. And really take the range of that thing. And perhaps because the pressure is different. You don't have to be a top ten defense of a simple next year. It would really help if you're not a bottom four or five defense. Right. So maybe part of this is an understanding. That this is a guy who they believe can just turn around and get the most out of the Russia. They have and and get them where they need to go build a top five defense. But I'm not I'm not a real optimist. Not today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow..

Wizards. You said a pretty good season since John wall went down. I mean, it was it was just a classic. The best of the bad possibilities. I mean, it was him versus Kemba versus I'm assuming Ben Simmons. Kyle lowry. I'm not sure who else could have been in that back court designation. But I mean to me, I guess the argument is if they just never had wall the whole season would Washington's record be better. And beals numbers would have been better. Maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. And yes to me. So I guess he sneaks in there. But I wasn't happy about it. And I said I mean four starters really who who belonged. Well. So it's interesting on the Beale point. It's I don't work for the Washington Post. But I did have to do some soul-searching and an integrity. Check with myself because I said like, I don't wanna be the Homer idiot who's out here voting in his hometown hero, Bradley Beal. But I did I mean looking at the alternatives the alternatives were so on inspiring. Ben Simmons who has slowed. Let me ask. Though, if all the depot was healthy the whole year, we have him overbill probably based on team success to break the tie. I don't own anybody in apology. I mean, that's completely like consistent logically. Yeah. The one thing I will say is there are a lot of people who keep complaining about the conference imbalance in terms of all star selection and saying, you know, if you're gonna be so well short of I mean to me people saying we need to abandon conferences with the all star game. I think that is the wrong reform to be pushing for in part because I think eliminating conferences altogether is probably a change that would have to be collectively bargained somewhere down the line because it like, you know. All star selections factor into contracts and all sorts of different angles that are sort of two important to just kind of like unilaterally change one summer. But if you're having these guys pick teams every year, you shouldn't least have a chance to have evenly matched starters. If you remember last season the end of the all star game was really cool because you had the ten best players in the league out there on the floor together, except that one of them was damore to Rosen because the coaches were obligated to play the starters. And so you had Damara out there in the mix, and it just like kind of a weird look at the time. And I feel like that continues this year where we have to include Beal where like if we could just slide Paul George onto the east team. We would have a perfect representation of the ten best players. So the last two months man now you're singing beautiful tune. I don't know what happened earlier in this podcast. You went off the rails, Andrew, but that was beautiful music's straight to my soul. I love. Here. Here's a question for you. Okay. Of your Eastern Conference selections. How many could have made the all star team in the west. Starter or bench. I basically see four ic- kyri Jaanus coli and Embiid, I'm not sure anybody else on the team makes it from the Eastern Conference if they had to be a top twelve guy in the west while. So I think that's where the imbalance conversation starts if I'm looking at like, the total pool. What's the breakdown? I probably would have rather had fourteen maybe fifteen Western Conference players versus nine or ten Eastern Conference players. So it's not like twenty two right?.

"Look off gets three basket. Good fixing gold. Ten not going to get the call for trailing kill to the basket. Wraparound layup good Yannis would drop thirty in hall down fourteen rebounds, as the bucks knocked off the Knicks by the final one zero nine ninety five that is five straight losses for New York after the ballgame the Greek freak spoke with the SPN Tom Rinaldi, but having a blast at the garden as we just met you first Milwaukee Bucks to have thirty on Christmas day since Kareem. What do you think when you hear that? Know, it's a it's a big compliment. But just won't take my teammates that they put me in spots. Told me be successful. And if you just played it hard to win your plate at eight thirty and fourteen is a franchise that hadn't played on Christmas in forty one years Jaanus be able to play on this stage on this means he's allowed to me. Always dreams played at Christmas day suicide Timpson league was Christmas day and just opportunity for me. And my team is to be able to represent the mortgage parts in the city of Milwaukee. This Christmas day means a lot to us and. Think I would have to win. So we have about this was a one point game at half. What was the turning point in the second half? Janas just came out in the second half said its own a little bit harder. Move the ball more bodies tried to make more shots. It has what we did. That's what we're able to get the win. Coach putted said a lot of the players feel like it's an honor to play on this day and kick off the five game slate wider players feel that way. As I said everybody came to the league Glennon Christmas day game. We've played this year in business getting hopefully, we can play many more years to come. All right. "Yeah. It sounds like it's like assess ity and another team will vainly how other team will trade for him. So the pelicans can pretty much deal him. So I could see like Boston really being in on the Anthony Davis. Imagine Anthony Davis from Boston. Imagine M on any team. Really it would benefit them drastically. Like they were talking about the him Lewis, Milwaukee Q magin Jaanus in Anthony Davis on the same team. That's borderline unfair. Yeah. That'd be interesting for sure. To see his future as a he'll put a Little Brown for couple years. And the thing is bronze contract will only three years after this year. So yeah. And then. I'm left Bronco retire. And then it'll be Anthony sure he's gonna retire seeing at some point three or four years for probably. Or he'll Ron's been great. But he's talking to play. Remember that YouTube video I forget who did it. And he goes Bleacher report about like the warriors and Cavaliers failure the fortieth consecutive year in a row, and they said rope LeBron James got robotic enhancements any cloned himself. And all this stuff. I think that's what's gonna happen. He's gonna get robotic enhancements and keep playing. Yeah. That's an interesting idea. But. I don't believe that will happen. Yeah. Is a freak of nature. That's for sure. But I see LeBron having the best chance of winning title in the next two years next year for sure because the warriors are we'll have some issues warriors will not be the same next year. And that'll be an opportunity for another team to kind of jump them, or at least level the playing field, and you could see the Lakers being that team if they were able to get Davis a pair with LeBron James they have other other decent players to are you getting tired of these super teams forming. I mean are getting frustrated like. Always has had super teams. But we just talk about it more nowadays. It's getting more out of hand. I feel like there's there's a lot more member. When look like, I know Kerry painting karma went to the Lakers. Kobe and check this was the unbeatable team, but let's face it Malone pain were at the end of their careers. A lot of guys are going to these teams in their prime their best. That's where my problem like the thing. Russell Westbrook James harden and Kevin ramp. They were all drafted. They all earn that lay. All got on the scene. He by draft picks, not free agency and moving around, and he's saying you don't like put moving I just don't like the fact that some player like I am getting kind of frustrated with all these super teams and. I don't know. Can you do I wish I could do something? But I just wish there was more opportunity. NBA teams the NBA incentivizes teams to players stay with my dad about this. And he was saying, well, there's a difference between a super team in the NFL in MBA NFL. There's thirty two guys or fifty two guys on the field or on the one team in the NBA. There's only eleven or relevance only five on the court. So every player makes a way bigger impact than one egg every player in the NBA is bigger impact than like a quarterback is exactly my point. And that's why super teams are so common there and not in the NFL or the MLB because there's there's lot less only five players nine or eleven to got two or three awesome ones..

Nick Wright on Kevin Durant throwing shade at LeBron, talks paying Dak Prescott and more

"Wanna go to Nick ride on this. Kevin Durant for the second time in two weeks has taken a shot at LeBron James called him toxic plan with LeBron's toxic. And then yesterday mentioned all these great players all time and put kyri in and not LeBron. So Nick, right. First things first, we the cower global satellite network. Let's talk about that. I mean, what what did you make Durand comment? I don't think they're a coincidence. Neck. I think he I think he is deeply bothered that he moved to Golden State won a bunch of titles and people still don't put them above. Lebron? That's my take. There is obviously indefinitely some insecurity factor. As far as what more do you want me to do? I I wanted to finals I won the finals with jump shot a jump shot over LeBron. I won the finals the next year with a jump shot in the exact same place. But as you just said, just objectively speaking, he's not better people who know basketball. No, he's not better. But I also think listening saying Kobe's one of the two greatest players of all time isn't absurdity Kobi's as great as he was not one of the two best players of his era. That's LeBron and Dunkin, but that's neither here nor there but about a year ago. Kevin Durant on one of his many podcasts. Bill Simmons talked about the different way that he and LeBron go about their off-season preparation, and he said something I thought was really telling he said LeBron works on his body. I work on my game. As if he didn't see that. Lebron? Was working on his body in order to prolong how long he can play the game. Because the guys seem mentioned are guys that I understand like whether it's footwork worrying Kyrie's case raw dribbling skill or touch on a jump shot. They all might have something on LeBron will the bronze got on. Everybody is the body. He's put together which has allowed him to not only get to the rim. But to be on injured. I don't think that's something from a basketball perspective Durant, fully respects. Yeah. Because it is obviously the opposite of what he has Durant has made the most anyone could ever make with a muscle massive around what I have which is remarkable feat. But it is not comparable to what we see for most other NBA stars. By the way, there's a rumor today colline Kevin Durant to the clippers again, I'll believe Durant's gonna leave. I don't think he has the guts to leave Golden State because he would get crushed. And if he goes to LA and LeBron gets Anthony Davis and he's on the second best team in LA. It's a bad look for him. I don't buy this move. Do you buy it? Are. So I do think I disagree with you. I think Kevin Durant is going to leave. I think he not only has the guts sleeve. I think leaving could it be the only thing to enhance his standing in the league. But the only thing if he leaves he I believe he can't do or would be crazy to do is injuring to another situation where we don't know who the best player is that. So that means he he's already in one of only a handful of situations. He could be in. We're at teammate is arguably better in Steph. So we can't go to the Lakers. And that also means he can't team up with Kawai Jaanus, Anthony Davis LeBron. That's it. So if if it's about winning championships, obviously should stay in Golden State.
