Has Giannis Antetokounmpo Earned More Respect During NBA Finals?

"Of jaanus. We have a lot to talk about what it when it comes to the greek freak because he is just one win away from winning his first. Nba finals but the two time. Mvp still hasn't gotten total respect around the league from his peers. Just last year james harden. Instead of the honest. I wish i could just run and be seventeen. And just don't like that takes no skill at all. I had to actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill. you know. i'll take that any day. Well chris paul just last week said of his finals opponent quote he comes down there. He dunks his dunks. You don't more than he shoots a layup. I don't know about this bullshit and has earned more respect during these finals for me. I don't respect him anymore. Any less than i did going into the final. Skip for me for a guy that everybody says that he can't do and he doesn't. I think the biggest thing is to make a long story short skip. He can't shoot the ball kevin durant. He's not flashy with handling the ball. Like daimler steph curry. He shoot the then. I saw back shoes. Like james harden. He's not as accomplished or if charismatic is lebron james football. A lot of guys can't can't can't can't he's a two time league. Mvp he's a defensive player of the year and he's on the cusp of winning title and being finals. Mvp that's a hell of a carpenter for a guy that got a lot of kids.

Best Value Plays for the NBA Finals

"I want to touch on the nba no guest for the nba finals discussion. And we've done that throughout the postseason. Basically i wanna touch on a couple of things that stand out to meet the honest injury. Look we all wanna fire and make bets and hopefully win money on these big events right whether it's the super bowl the nba playoffs stanley cup. You name it but sometimes there's just not an edge and i just think it's too difficult right now to lay the series price of two dollars not knowing exactly what we're going to get with honest and when we're gonna get jaanus to return all signs point to his being out tonight for game one but willie return game two or game three. How effective willie b last round. We saw trae young return. And frankly i probably would have benched him in game six in the fourth quarter. At least he just wasn't that effective wasn't the usual stellar trae young. We were used to seeing this postseason or is it like joel embiid. After missing the second half of game four in the first round then missing game. Five sixers beat the wizards he. He came back from the injury and he was just managing pain more than anything. He was still dynamic. Not quite the same. Didn't have that dunk that. He said he could do it. One of the end of the one of the games. I believe it was game four against atlanta but nonetheless it just wasn't the same embiid but it was close to so if you can tell me exactly like how big of a percent how close to one hundred percent. We're going to be honest then. I can come up with a firm play in terms of the series price. Game one for me. No real opinion. It's already baked in the line. Honest isn't gonna play it. Let's say he's out officially might go from six to six and a half if he's miraculous you're gonna play maybe goes to three from the minus six just because it won't be one hundred percents so it's really tough game one favorites in the nba finals. The last fifteen sixteen years fifteen in one straight up fourteen to two. Ats now that's just a trend but sup denote given the sons at home court. I think they're going to win the series again. Don't wanna lay the two dollars. I think we're seeing a very loose milwaukee team that finally got over the hump reach the finals. They've been playing really tight. The last few postseasons especially this year. They were really tied against the nets but did get the w. thanks to kevin durant shoe size and game seven enabling the game to go to overtime and obviously outlasted atlanta thanks to couple injuries but both teams have benefited but nonetheless. They are here. No asterix whatsoever. At all. In my opinion. I just think if the only play i'm making a cpa three to win the mvp at plus one eighty to me. He's going to get all the difference from the voters if the sun's win at all thus booker or whoever else maybe eight and but book is really the main competitor. He has to put up astronomical numbers and for the sons doing. I just think c. P. three's going to have to have a stat line right. He's going to have to have double digit assist and a few games. Put up some points. I just don't think booker's capable of just having monster monster monster games in the four winds. So i think if it's remotely close. I think it's gonna go to chris paul because the leadership and all the other narratives so plus one eighty compared to minus. Two dollars is worth it to

Unexpected Bucks-Nets Drama

"Man. How much can change over the course of the weekend. I'll watch game three. And i thought that's gave it away. They're fine. that's about as dumb of game as they're gonna lose. They easily could have won nine different times. They played terribly. They still almost one. And i'm not sure what walkie has for answers. Go into game for the nets are up thirty. Four twenty five have all the momentum schimidt face commits a foul and middleton four point play and it opens the floodgates bucks go at a nineteen to to run. Kyri sprains his ankle during the run and the entire series shifts. And now kyrie is out. We have no idea when hardens coming back and you saw what the nets looked like as a one man team russillo. It's sunday the bucks. Flip this series. Yeah i mean they did because now we don't know about the kyri part but i'll tell you like just doesn't happen very often because i felt like milwaukee you look at him. You're like all right. I like him look all the size. Look at all this stuff. Those first two games are so bad in game three. Even though they want a bill. I felt worse about him. I go this say this has like. There's a version of this breakdown. Which i still will probably do. And perhaps regret because the bucks of winning the series of his just durant but there are fundamental problems that this team has Would jaanus being the initiator and so many things in middleton was for two games drew. Holiday can do anything. We're like three games. He was a little better. They shot it better and felt like once kyri went down it was forty four forty five forty two left in the second quarter at the nets just emotionally were like in shock. They were very flat for a long period of time. And then i think milwaukee actually kind of matched their lack of emotion but it was just. They had more options in other tucker was river under and they're very physical with

Do Lakers deserve an asterisk for 2020 championship run?

"Got mentioned Perc said, no Asterix Brian Windhorst are ESPN NBA insider on the hoop collective podcast whether he thinks this title and remember he's been around Lebron longer than anybody that's been covering him whether this title is free clear and legit. I just have really strong beliefs that winning a championship is so hard. No matter. The circumstances that there's never an Asterik I'll I'll never ever I gotta be careful being so you know absolute but I just never believed that I and so this year. I thought that the level of play was great and I thought that the level that the Lakers showed in this bubble was spectacular. They are the absolute worthy champions. It's fair enough. The offense in the bubble especially was at another level. I don't understand why people would even have that conversation I mean you gotTa. All. NBA Players. And all the coaches and the people that have come on with US clearly state how hard it here's the plane of bubble without fans in you have to motivate yourself. I've gone through this many times trying to explain to people. They're stuck in an environment with no fans limited family and supporting family members and friends around. They're stuck in a hotel room not stuck in a ten thousand square foot house. This stuck in. Hotel Room One TV. Okay wallpaper on the walls. You can hear the next door neighbor a thin walls like really like and they're eating basically the same sort of gourmet cookie. There is no going out and getting this. It's totally different. I am not going to do a disservice to the Lakers by giving them Astros for this year saying, Oh, this is crazy. It's insane what they've been able to pull off during a pandemic during social justice all the things they've stood for not being around their family to do this wasn't insane insane year end insane accomplishment, but but. I do look forward to next year. That was your Asterik, I do I do I do afford to win Steph? Curry Klay Thompson draymond green when they're fully healthy what they can bring to the table I. Do look forward to seeing what the clippers will bring to the table and if they actually do how higher coach right if they actually do meet in the playoffs how that will be the coli that's pg going Lebron James and I do look forward to seeing you know Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn what that brings it a table what happens with the would milwaukee and Jaanus. Could they get a Bradley bill to come to the table that missing link with Chris Middleton? There are a lot of things that look forward to next year considering if teams have to go on the road and when that or how that stuff plays out when it's not at a new site. So never going to disservice this was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen, but I do so why? So why are people out there trying to do a disservice given ashes to the? Lakers. Why? I I think people were doing that at the beginning by saying, Hey, you know you're not GonNa but They didn't make any sense he. Didn't make any sense I mean those are the people that haven't been to the bubble that haven't left their family for three and a half four months that don't know what the social pressure is the pressure to be alone to handle all that stuff there somewhere else.

Anthony Davis Has Room to Grow

"GonNa Focus on the Lakers, which as an editor is near and dear to my heart because sharks picked the biggest red meat team on on on the table here. But they've been really impressive with us are there to one and Anthony Davis looks like probably the best player in the bubble thus far chunks. Why don't you leaders us through some of the things that have been happening with Lakers why think for the record this is called the impossibly good-looking persons corner just clarify. For. Their how dare sir? Okay so we're looking at the Lakers thing to me that's jumped out in the first three games is how they're playing when Anthony Davis playing without Lebron on. So that was been their biggest problem. All season is those non Lebron ad minutes because he idea was. Okay. If you have a D- then Lebron can rest he can get. His breaking it as time off, and they'll still be fine. But before the restart when eighty was out of the Ron, he was minus three and five, hundred, six, hundred minutes as those are important minutes Lakers have to win in the restart I mean obviously is a very small sample size but who cares where we're doing podcasts in the restart their plus night. Eighties playing without Lebron. That's just a massive flip on their whole situation and to me watching those minutes was set out to me I think number one. Not Having region Rondo. I think that really kind of low key killed their team because when rondos playing he has to have the ball right like Rondo can't play off the ball Swiss hole in the ball he's not really a threat to score someone's really guarding him and then on defense that giving you much either so like Alex the numbers when ad and Rondo without Lebron it was minus five and without Rondo they're playing Caruso and waiters with a d the floor is spread and the thing. Anthony. Davis. You don't need a traditional point guard Anthony, Davis give eighty the ball in the mid postals kill people right? He gets the ball then it kicks shooter instead of the Rondo. So it's like ADP without Rondo back great and the other thing too is eighty at the five. So they're going eighty Kuzma than like Greener Casey Caruso waiters whatever. Eighty s numbers at the five the year are insane. They're absolutely ridiculous. So cab. Looking at that with no Devellano Dwight Eighty has a usage of twenty eight shooting of Sixty six point six. Now base that means in English as eighties in the ball, like he's hardener Jaanus and he's been the most efficient player in the league. So if looking at those two numbers, there's only been one player in NBA history that had to be that efficient at that. High usage not staff like five years ago. So basically, when eighties at the five, he does a established about shooting threes he's basically scoring at will every single time I think long story short eighty more room to grow I. Think we're seeing that right now like leading a d. plan space given him the ball he's got levels still the go to get into them right now. Yeah I. So the biggest thing off of that, which was great I just wonder if their margin for error is too thin right now obviously the Lakers have been incredible. So let's get that caveat out of the way I think probably favorite if not among the favorites for the title. People like to remind us on the group Chat specifically Chris Because I don't think sharks was. One I remember that yeah. Where we pretty much we troll the Lakers after their first loss of the season and. Venture like the succeed but clearly, they've they've far exceeded those expectations. Great. Please don't ask me. But I do wonder as bad as Rondo has been at times. As much as Bradley is the fifth most important guy on that starting lineup at times I do wonder if the margin for error is a little bit more thin and you are relying on the cruise of the world on the Casey Visa, the world more than you would like to my wrong rob now I mean I'm I'm pretty compelled by this whole situation that sharks laid out like the idea of shifting some of those pieces around and unlocking ad in a different way like makes logical sense to me given his skill set this is. The Guy, who can you know Kevin O'Connor talked in in the restart this week about how? Bam. Out of Bio Converts Defenses Ad in the mid post has a similar effect where if you clear out, you give him space and a straight line drive past almost any big in the league like that's such a powerful thing that there should be a way to orient pieces around that. Make Sense I. Think I get skeptical is in that margin for error and it's in, you know if you look at kind of the core of these lineups. AD and CAL Kuzma, and Alice Caruso or kind of the three man anchor of it and in around that, there's a revolving door of guards. You got some Danny Green minutes you get some dion waiters minutes he gets JR Smith gets in Casey ep you got whoever they cobbled together in that minute in the rotation at those guys scare the hell out of me a little bit and I think you know when you flashback to eighty as a Pelican and where he was some of where they fell apart without drew. Holiday on the floor without kind of more traditional point guards on the floor which just not having competent entry passers not having guys who could get a d. the ball in positions to score, which is it seems like such an easy thing. But the thing I don't trust dion waiters to do but it is a thing. Maybe I do trust Danny Green to do it. You know like some of these more professional veteran level guys like that distinction I think is an important one and probably the difference between bubble seating. Games bubble playoff games, right where you're getting Jr's and the demons at least lower in the pecking order if not out of the rotation on a regular basis entirely, and then you're looking at these minutes where it's you know, Danny Green Casey P. and those guys and cannot work I. Think I. Think there's a chance that it does but I do get a little bit suspect just in the sense that once playoff defenses are really keying in on what this lineup look like and how it works what does that? Mean deep because you know Jaanus has had that scrutiny in terms of a big who handles the ball who's creating for space lineups like we know what that looks like in defense is know what that looks like defensive kind of just been dealing with these Lakers lineups without Lebron floor all year haven't had a lot of trouble with them, but they haven't hammered them either in terms of the the mechanics of how they work. If this starts working, then you invite that level of

Orlando Magic's Jonathan Isaac explains why he didn't take knee or wear Black Lives Matter shirt Friday

"We had an incredible opening weekend of games name a star level player that player delivered at least once if not twice over the first three or four nights of the NBA's restart here in Orlando, we had crazy comeback wins. By the Houston Rockets, we had a dominant performance by. Jaanus over some little pesky pip squeak team from New England I forget who they might be. We got Marcus smart got fined for trying to work the officials. We've got storylines upon story lines. The clippers bounce back from their loss to the Lakers. Looking excellent and just throttling the New Orleans Pelicans. There's so many different directions that we can go Michael that I decided. Here's what we're GONNA do opening weekend heaters we're GONNA have just open ended questions are we're going to ping pong back and forth you give me your answers I'm going to give you my answers to these questions and try to cover as much ground as possible before we get there though I do want to double back quickly on the national anthem demonstrations that we touched on last episode, we got so many thoughtful emails from various members of the open floor globe on this subject, but I think there was a major development after we spoke on Friday. and. That involve Jonathan Isaac Meyers. Leonard Gregg Popovich Becky Hammon and one of the NBA referees all deciding to not kneel to not really participate in what had been in unified demonstration on Thursday. All of those people who chose to stand were obviously doing it on principle and they were doing it knowing there was going to be a lot of attention their direction. Now, if you look at Popovich amend the referee essentially, they were trying to just say, Hey, I support the the Social Justice Movement it's it's a private or personal decision for the referee said look I it's important to me to stand Meyers Leonard made a similar comment. Essentially. Saying that his brothers military service in the in the military service of close people in his life led him to WanNa stand to salute the flag. But within Isaac was a slightly different case and he actually used this entire demonstration opportunity to almost have a one man demonstration of his own. In his belief, the idea of the black lives matters movement quote unquote doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. He also said that you know we shouldn't be necessarily judging things solely based on skin color that we should be trying to live a life basically you know in God's mold and try to live up to his standard, and that Jesus Christ was his personal savior and and that he wanted everyone to focus on that. Aspect of of living rather than the particular issue that was being brought forward with the black lives matter movement by the players he didn't really get any major pushback. Within the NBA Community people respected his right to make a stand. He actually not only did he stand during the national anthem? He didn't wear a black lives matter t shirt which many people notice because he was essentially the only player not to do that his whole personal story Michael took a crazy twist over the weekend and sad twist when he wound up tearing his ACL injury that's going to end his time here in Orlando obviously but also could cost him all of next season. So now talk about a whirlwind seventy, two hours for player who generated millions of us with his comments about the protests. I'm curious. Let's start with Jonathan Isaac. What did you make of his decision? After we've seen things settle in the last couple of days You know maybe it doesn't seem quite as Eye Opening as it did at that moment, but I'll admit I was I was surprised to see given the buy in from everybody on opening night. Right, I mean I just WanNa Start and say that it it really really is a bummer to see anyone get injured but particularly is ICK who was already on restriction he was already playing with a humongous brace on his leg from a previous injury that cost him a majority of this regular season before it was suspended. So I just I feel for him greatly. I I think generally speaking. The coverage of who stands in who sits I mean we talked about this heading in anticipated it I. Think I think the coverage is generally besides the point and it doesn't really get the point I feel like people are using. This as an opportunity to shame those who are standing in a little bit I mean Meyers Leonard. said, he couldn't sleep before he made the decision to stand and that's just like not. The whole focus or the point here right like. You can obviously Support Black lives and also stand for the national anthem. It is a symbolic gesture that is what it is in the case of Isaac. I really had a difficult time understanding even what his message was until you interpreted it the way that you did I mean I watched the clip of Him Multiple Times survey there I'm GonNa just GonNa read what he said I and then we can use that as a jumping off point because I don't WanNa torture what he said earlier and I might have done that. So sorry for that. He says quote absolutely I believe that black lives matter kneeling while wearing a black lives matter t shirt doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. I. Don't think kneeling or putting on a T. shirt for me personally is the answer i. Feel like for me, black lives are supported through the Gospel. All lives are supported through the Gospel. We all have things that we do wrong. Sometimes, it gets into a place of pointing fingers. We all fall short of God's glory whoever will humble themselves and seek God and repent of their sins. We can see our mistakes and people's mistakes and evil in a different light. Racism isn't the only thing that flags our society, our nation and our world, and he basically said he wanted this conversation to get out of the realm of skin color because the answer to all of our problems in everything that goes on in our world is Jesus. So. when I watched the clip. I'll I'll be honest. I was a little confused where he was going to after typing it all out trying to marinate on what he was saying I think he essentially wanted to have a demonstration on behalf of his religious beliefs and that this was an opportunity for him to say look you know focusing only on one particular group I. Guess in his view, the black lives matter group and you know everybody wearing a t-shirt doesn't necessarily achieve the wider goal which would be presumably healthy living. You know honest living you know Living which to him as a higher priority I think that's where he was going with his statements.

"Malcom gladwin is a stone cold genius who loves A grade sports argument. I went onto bill. Simmons podcast and I had this totally ludicrous thing that I want to talk about. Which was I was like? Could a basketball team made up of Nigerians? An all time basketball team made up of Nigerians be the greatest basketball time and then I ended it. I amended until as I said all right I have to corollaries one is. I'm going to add west Indians because almost Indians not all mostly I'm Jamaican. Where am I what am I people from? We're from originally like I'm Ibo right most Jamaicans cable so I add the Caribbean and then I said and just refund. That's also add the rest of Southern Africa and then I construct the students. Tony Ridiculous Caribbean so busy. I say out can Africa and the Caribbean put together an all time team. It's better than an african-american team a euro team at a white American team. It's the third one. Maybe not. The answer is yes. We don't have time to do this but I will convince you. I can't convince you to Africa and the Caribbean in basketball. All Time team and also your co you qualify by or Nigeria. Will I started? I start with all of ethnic did not all? I'm only adding. I added Southern Africa. 'cause I WANNA have Steve Nash and Joel Embiid on my team. Wade Steve Nash. Born in Johannesburg. He's Canadian. No my rule is that you. Are you qualify? Virtue of your parents. Place a birth. So get all of Steve. Nash Who Play Thompson. Really? He's Bamyan are are are taking. Tim. Who in their day or two of the greatest lockdown defenders of the last twenty five years in the NBA? I got a clay and national or two of the pure as shooters and I have argued with the greatest defensive front court in the history of basketball. I Have Yoenis Hekim Akeem Patrick embiid. I mean I have wilt Bill Russell Shack. It's close by. Queen is not close if I had if I was restricted to white Americans. Then maybe may point so I do it as long ludicrous. It's ludicrous ludicrous. NBA Storylines Down the Stretch

"Doris Burke is an NBA analyst for ESPN so doors the All star break is over and NBA. Games are back. We wanted to talk to you. About what surprised you so far this season. And how you see the last couple of months shaping up as we enter the homestretch before the playoffs. Let's start in the East right where there is an unequivocal number. One team in Milwaukee they have the best record in the NBA and they are destroying teams winning by an average margin of victory of more than twelve points per game now of the eleven teams that have had a double digit margin of victory over the course of a season. Eight have gone on to win it. All Doris. Is there something that stands between Milwaukee and the NBA Finals? Yeah this is a great question. So in their eight losses the one thread that is consistent throughout those are teams are averaging sixteen point nine threes and philosophically. Their priority is protect. The paint. First and foremost they are so elite. At that that we have not seen this kind of rim protection in the modern NBA. With the possible exception of Spurs team that had both Tim Duncan and David Robinson but the fact of the matter if a team gets hot and really can create shot opportunities then. I think that they can be beat. The other thing that happens is your and you saw in the All Star game. Jaanus is the first player to go twenty five and eleven back to back all star Games but he was over to note points in the fourth quarter because they did playoff teams. We'll do they set up a wall and they said somebody else is going to beat us so well. No one's really doubting the bucks at this point. I think there is still a lot of skepticism about the number two seed in the east the Toronto Raptors. I mean after losing finals. Mvp Kawhi Leonard. They were not seen as favorites coming into this year yet. They have the same record right now that they had at this point last season doors one hand the raptors have been under five hundred against winning teams but on the other they had a lot of. Are we underestimating them? While I'm definitely giving them punchers chance to get to the Eastern Conference finals and a punchers chance to come out in the past historically particularly when Demar Derozan Kyle lowry. Were on the team together. What we knew was they understood how to win in the regular season but they're always seemed to be this level of doubt in their minds when the calendar turn to April but the fact of the matter is. They changed that a year ago with championship. There is a different feel a different presents a different countenance about the entire group and yes unequivocally the record versus plus five hundred versus minus five hundred is concerning but let's remember that their top six guys including Serge Ibaka. Who's having the Best Year of his career? Kyle lowry Markelle Saul Fred Van Bleed. Norman Powell Pascal them. All six of those guys have missed at least ten games so I don't know that we have the clearest picture the other thing working in their favors they have one of the best coaches in the league. Nick nurse wears that head coaches mantle with ease. Why because he's been calling the shots for the vast majority of his career. In any number of circumstances his creative he's fearless. He's a little bit irreverent. And I'm telling you mean ah I give them a punchers chance to get to an east finals and a punchers chance to get out. Did you see this coming at all? Doors not even close and this is the question really ultimately. Do they have enough offense in what you're seeing is to me. What appears to be this grooming of Pascal? Ceac him of all right. You gotta go get your own in those minutes and a playoff circumstance where you don't care whether it's a mid range to a fall away jump shot a jump shot under duress of excellent defense. What matters is I need to put the ball in the basket right now because this game is teetering on our control or there's and we've got to have one and you're watching Pascal. Can he deliver in the postseason? He's been excellent in the regular season. I can't wait to see a play out. I think it feels right now. Like you've got the bucks in a tier of their own and then you've got the raptors celtics heat kind of swirling around each other. There was a feeling ahead of the trade deadline that the heat could vault to that number. Two spot perhaps even contend with the bucks if they really went all in and added Gala Nari. They didn't they did add Igwe Dolla. Do you think that's enough? You know the the last prism through which I saw. Andre Gonzala was a man who was battling an Achilles in the playoff series and seemed to be showing the signs of some age. But what I know. Unequivocally is this man from a basketball intellect standpoint. According to Kerr is one of the smartest in the history of the League. He has got championship. Dna He's got positional versatility on the defensive end that basketball intellect and the ability to process information quickly and to do it under the spotlight of the playoffs. He has all of that. I'm anxious to see how he changes the dynamic the Miami Heat. You know this. They're going to play hard defensively every single night. They're going to mix in one of the most effective zones we see in today's NBA and Eric's bolster is outstanding coach. So right now sitting in that fourth spot how far Jimmy Butler can take them. That'll be interesting. Those young guys. Right Duncan Robinson Tyler Hero Kendrick Nunn all those guys who have performed so well in the regular season when the calendar switches. Can you win with them? Let's see

"About My tween twenty bold predictions now. This isn't just for the regular season. This is for the off season. This is the beginning of next season to these addiction that I think that potentially could happen. I'm going to say them here today. And maybe you can agree with me some. You may think this crazy in some you might agree with. We'll have to see my first pro. Prediction is that both L. A.. Neither one of the LA teams will not make the Western Conference finals. I think a team will beat them or since the clippers. Don't take care too much about seeding in the Lakers. Stay the number one seed if the clippers land four or five. They'll play the clippers in the second row. They'll play Lakers around. which would men? 'cause obviously semifinals matchup US and other Western Conference finals match. But I also feel like there may be a team that could upset me maybe Houston is probably the most likely that could upset one of the LA teams and. I think that they're going to keep them from making the the the Western Conference finals. I know a lot of people were expecting that to happen. A lot of people are wanting to happen. I'm sure it will be great for the Lee but I really think that that's something in my opinion that I think is going to happen. That's one of my first. Bold predictions of the twenty twenty season in further on my eh prediction is that the Golden State Warriors will form another super team. Now I don't know if there's going to be with Jaanus. It could be a cry towns because Golden State is monitoring situation but Golden State clearly knows. Listen with the way the League is if we want to be on topic how can we need to get an update US another super team together and I think that they're definitely trying very hard to get another another star player in there now. I do like that. Probably means that's the end of Draymond Green. But I think that's what they're aiming for taming to get their aiming to get another star in there to see to come back with clay and to come back with Steph potentially really they can make you trade for star because they if they do get a top three lottery pig. deathly do not be surprised. If they try to make a trade with that pick honestly they honestly could have just picked up an amazing asset for them because they could use that as trade bait in. That's good trait rate. You know maybe the team star is disgruntled. Maybe you never know. I mean this isn't somebody would think about like the sons have another bad year. We'll we'll give you our top pick and another guy. And we want Devon Booker. Obviously Yona how that work I mean you know. They're kind of doing the right now. And the end of the Russell even yeah no. We Really Devon Booker may be a better player Neanderthal Russell. But that's definitely a prediction I think could potentially happen. I think that the warriors warriors will form another super team. But it's not going to be as top heavy instrument of Kevin Durant who like the second best player in the League. That's why think if they got Jaanus it would be stacked because of state Stephan Klay can play like they play and then they completely put a better supporting cast around. Then you could say okay. Yeah this team is going to be very tough to beat. Even laker teams have a team. They may be looking up to but it will have to see because if they get any towns houses. This is a great player but we don't view him as view when Kevin Durant was there which means even though it would be very top heavy west conference. But that's when also and my pro predictions one of my other pro predictions. Are I think that revenue from the C.. BA will increase which will lead to more players undeserving of big major contracts. Getting big major contracts. I'm going to say any names. But it's like okay. Well I'll say this because I don't know if he's GonNa get it but there are people who are sometimes wonder now dre walgreens supposed to be a free agent this offseason offseason Draymond Green. We know he's not a guy who's going to score points we can do live. And he's a great gadget player. I would say but some people wonder. Would somebody pay draymond green the Max would they give draymond green that Max deal. That is something they definitely wonder about and like a question. Like why would you give you Max. If if there's more money to be spent draymond green could potentially ask for Max and if you like laundry a month you might give them close to it. I mean we already have players now. who try to sign that? First Max deal then take a shorter deal. Just didn't end up getting of that. Ten Year supermax dill. But you know it's one of those those things where I think that this will lead to more players being signed overpaid and I mean you obviously can see more cat room. It can lead the teams being in very weird financial situations with cap every team six Performing up to expectation and then you played a lot of guys a lot of money who may have never actually deserve the money in the first place so. I think that that's going to be something that's going to be interesting another addiction I have is. I think that James Harden will make it to the NBA Finals Cheer. I know that's pretty big. That basically means you're saying he's GonNa beat one or both La Teams. I think James Harden. This would be the best year for him to do it. I think right now this I flew. This is his best year do it. So I'M GONNA go ahead mcnabb. Oh predicts names hard. It's GonNa make the finals. These the rockets are GonNa make the finals. This may be shocking to you. But that's how I feel. I feel like that. Jr potentially do it. I feel like if he was able to average at least thirty in the playoffs and Russell could give him about twenty twenty three. That's fifty three between the two players and they have some good supporting cast. You can't forget about. PJ Tucker can't forget about Erik. Gordon Clink Appel. You definitely feel like they have all the potential attention in the world so potentially be a top team and so I would not be surprised if they end up being the top team they think they can be and making it to the NBA NBA finals. This year in basically just creating just such a great agree moment for the city Houston also another prediction. I think Diane if he comes back as soon as they say he come back. We'll still win rookie of the year. I think Zaylon has all the talents. Be A star of Zion. Comes back in balls out in just twenty points a game in gives you a lot of highlight plays. I think he will be able to squeeze out winning rookie year only only playing half of the year again. That's a pretty bold prediction but as I've anybody can do a Zairean can all takes his cause. Remember even the Luca one owned by a lot last year. You trae young exciting second half which made it interesting and don't be. We don't feel like John Moran is doing with Luca Danni last year so it's not as far fetched is not as it's not like oh it's completely impossible for Luca played so well and then trae young play well in the New Year but he's still play. Okay well it's like John Mirant is playing. Maybe the best right now. But he's not playing at local level from last year so of Zion can have maybe a trae young like surge in the second half of the season. I think he'll go ahead and win the rookie year. But it all depends on when he gets back. 'cause I do if he didn't get back to maybe mid February with that he wouldn't. It's only two months left in the season. At that point. He has to probably get back to move in the next two weeks and then just start going on a tear from game one because dial is full practice recently so he's clearly about to get there. Obviously you've seen him take jumpers you've seen him dunk Donc so I definitely things I on can win the rookie year if he gets back in time and my last bowl prediction is that the Atlanta Hawks will add a star player. This off season. I don't know who but I feel. They're gonNA add some but I feel like some of the issues they've had I flipped. They're going to add a star. Because I feel like you need to especially to make trae WANNA stay there because rotations rumblings that he might and I wanna stay. That may be something that you may want to do. If Your Hawks Front office you need to add some talent in their yep some good young talent but you're going to you know how it is as league view in a win you're gonNA have to give up that good young talent for solidified star. Obviously I feel like trays untouchable. But maybe Kevin Heard. Or maybe you D Andre One hundred maybe a cam reddish maybe push them shelby John Collins and I think they're gonNA make a trade for a proven star in this league and we'll have to see whoever that star is how far the Atlanta Hawks may potentially get because of it but that's it for me thank you for listening listening to the GMC football basketball podcast on the GMC podcast network. "Now now. You bring your book, but not you're only. Not also the nears. But the female Harris extended MasterCard is we're thanks. It's big advantage. You are. That's the be mo- affect. Catch a great curric- commercial. John, you and I were at the old training center and Saint Francis today. An eighteen year old young man from Greece showed up to play basketball in Milwaukee. I'll never forget that day. I know you won't how would you characterize the growth that you've seen on and off the court by that young man? It's been a special time for me. And I know it's been the same for you and everyone on the staff. First of all, Jim, what a great pool of athletes there for honest to get this award is really special and, and what he's done in his career so far in Milwaukee is remarkable to be the fifteenth pick in the draft to come in like you said to the United States America's first time to be eighteen years old, the different coaching things that he's had to go through his, his, his development, spend remarkable end and it's really special to see Ravi, grateful. Adam are we anticipated another award for him? Coming up, I fully anticipate another award here on on the twenty fourth. I think he's going to be them EP of our league in and. Deservedly so Peter for you. Jaanus is obviously recognized worldwide. But what do you expect? And how would you describe his impact globally on the city of Milwaukee? And then the state of Wisconsin as a whole. Two mikes. Thank you, Katie. I can't put into words you can't put into metrics, what somebody like Janas does. So to be a European player to have the mass appeal in Asia like he does certainly around Europe and Greece. And then what he's done to help transform our organization to help transform our team in such a big way. And he's such an example. I mean you can't get a better person to kind of lead the team on the court. And I wanna make sure everybody knows this person next to me is just about to get ready to an executive of the year in the NBA in a couple of weeks as well. Congratulations to you both. I know Janas we'll be very thrilled to know you accepted this word on his behalf. Thank you. Peter Fagin.

"It kinda comes down to your role players Markelle soul had zero points at the half Danny green had zero points in the half. I mean that was the big reason why Toronto one game five in Milwaukee and kind of stole that one and a game that I don't think many people gave them a chance to win. Fred vanfleet was absolutely hoop in in game five in kind of one that formed collided. His thing Kyle Lowry played a very well in that one Siaka played really well, but you gotta give frame fleet to credit. He scored twenty one points at a plus minus of plus twenty eight in game five really set the tone off the bench because a big problem, I think, for the raptors was they only had six players at least that was the perception that they were six maybe seven deep fried vanfleet without, he's played kind of giving them that extra punch that extra. Push has really kind of put them over the top and kind of put them in command of the series in a series that myself included didn't really give Toronto, a lot of credit indeed. Really think Toronto had a chance to win this one. I thought it was going to be bucks five. I looked at how the bucks were playing and I thought that if they were a team that played in a major market, like Los Angeles, or Boston or Miami. I think that people would consider the buck season a lot differently than they have because they're in Milwaukee, but walk came out dominated ran through the first two rounds of the Eastern Conference final just blew through the Boston Celtics. And now in this one, they've been in a fight with Toronto who Toronto's been neck and neck with one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, but back to Jaanus. I think you can make a point for probably four or five players who can to call themselves the best player. Maybe I think it's pretty clear that this is gonna win. MVP certainly Vegas, agrees. That Jaanus is going to win the MVP award. You got to step up big in these kind of moments and big time players. Make big time plays in big time games. And I was kind of expecting Jaanus the kind of step up a little better than he has so far in the series that hasn't happened. But again, they're sixty five to fifty two middle of the third quarter. And this one. And sometimes, I think we underestimate the MO the I, sometimes, I think we underestimate the value of playing in these moments, you got a big time moment like the Eastern Conference finals. You haven't played there before you're going up against guys who have been the situation Danny green, who got a ring with the San Antonio Spurs, coach, Leonard who got a ring with the San Antonio Spurs, Marcus. Aw. Who was played in these kind of environments..

"Fact that came out about Jaanus in this game and about the way coach, bud organizers their strategy offensively inside of three feet in this series inside of three feet, Yonathan shooting sixty-five percent outside of three feet. The honest is shooting nineteen percent. He's only taking seven shots outside of the restricted area only seven. So if you don't do things in transition. You the paint. I don't think they play or have the resources. That's what makes the warriors good the, the different variances of their offense that could beat you on a variety of ways. And less ten seconds of shot clock. Yeah. You talking about right now a bucks team. They were five for fifteen in less ten seconds, which is basically poor offense as opposed to on the other side. "When you look at the league from a national standpoint, it may make sense to play a little bit earlier in the west and that's something we're gonna talk to our teams about this summer every interesting. Okay in badavatz movie. West coast games and times up is a good idea for the NBA think it's a good idea for the postseasons on what to say inbound. But I don't think it's a good idea for the regular season. East coast viewers are not worried about the warriors regular season. They are worried about them in the season. And the one thing you caution against is there is this perception of an east coast bias in east coast media bias. And if you start doing things like this unilaterally. Kind of feels like you're just doing this to placate in east coast. You're the Western Conference finals, even though it was a sweet and in, in Portland couldn't find a way to win games. Ratings were up significantly this year. It's the east coast at the had the issue with from a rating standpoint. And as we talked about in the first. Brana fake. Right. We don't know Jaanus into cultural yet facts. Get his name wrong half the time. We don't know why it's going to stay in Toronto's, there's like it's familiarity this trust and these two teams are Eastern Conference finals. It's not really it's not solid enough yet to truly. Why? That's why we see a decline in ratings, the west coast is fine. I'm sayin' bounds. But you're saying.

"Jaanus on the punch that comes up that Milwaukee bench as Michael just mentioned forty four loan from a trio of players is so nice seeing guys on come into the game being mentally prepared. Say it's home for the whole team, and the just Wayne hard in, in any given that can step up knowing what is going to come from tonight. There's great game Joe Sheila big game in game three someone else going to have a good game. So this beautiful beautiful our team though, we trust one another and. Winning so good to look on. He also thinks change venue will bring different challenges for game. Three game way tougher than the game one game to play on their home now. But I think we'll be go go tomorrow, west clips tied to give better. But then additional about us in though, if we do our job defensively movable offensively and just do our job Jones. We're going be fine. But definitely the goal come out of its own trumpet hard to protect home. But with all right. That being said Stephen a Smith speed peon sportscenter can't see this series changing. I can't see Toronto win a more than one game. This series actually said it was over after game one because in that game a Leonard had thirty one Kyle Lowry had thirty Milwaukee shot just twenty five percent from three point range eleven for forty. Four five remember correctly has still wanted to damn game. So know what is no way on earth. After a week of rust and them still finding a way to beat you that they were gonna lose game two. And sure enough. That's not what happened. They blitz Toronto in the first half it was over by then. So when you look at walkie they've got sized they play defense. They man up. They have perimeter shooting collectively that exceptionally well coached. They go after it, and they're starving, and they lead the lead by the dominance of the Greek freak when you look at all of those things, I think there's only one thing that could potentially knocked them off. And that is a healthy Golden State Warriors, because they can beat you from the perimeter all night long win. K D is on the floor with Klay Thompson, that Steph curry buddies, not. And because he's not Scott. I don't believe they'll go to state war is that we saw last night, a game two against Portland would beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA finals day need. Otherwise, Milwaukee's gonna win an NBA championship this year. Toronto's fortunes. To change Kalari who scored fifteen on the heels of thirty in the opener thinks that begins with their defense. We play a little bit better. I mean, we got to play better defense I think maybe give a hundred twenty points two points. I think in the playoffs, we play much better decent teammate. Mark is, Seoul, the man in the middle says put this one on me. Beginning kind.

"Polly coming your way from Miller park as we get you ready for the brewers and the dodgers they're wrapping up their four game series today. This is a rubber game of a season series match much like last year in the postseason when these two teams played seven games against each other their once again playing seven games against each other the seventh game of the series. So to speak is once again being played at Miller park. The brewers are hopeful that today's game goes a little bit better than the way game seven of the went last year. If you wanna join the program you could do so by calling or texting into the accurate mortgage talk and text line four one four seven nine nine one six twenty four one four. Four seven nine nine one six twenty calling texting you can also tweet into the program if you'd like ATM at Pauley on air PA L E Y on air where I am sitting right now at Miller park. I cannot actually see the roof. However, very picturesque moment right now this kind of fits well. With the Easter theme today, obviously the roof is opening right now because what started as just a sliver of light on the field here at Miller park is continuing to grow wider and wider and wider. So either the roof is opening or we've got some sort of major issue at hand. So the roof is clearly opening but very good look for Easter Sunday with the light getting brighter and the light getting wider here at Miller park. So here's what we got program. Quick show just taking you to twelve thirty when we get out of here for brewers baseball. Bob euchre Jeff levering with the call of the brewers and the dodgers. We'll do mostly brewers today leading in gotta touch all the bucks though for just a moment. And I was thinking about this. What do you say about the bucks at this point? What can I say that this compelling profound statement about this basketball team? They're really good a Detroit Pistons are not really good. And we're just seeing that play out. I mean, it's a it's a situation where you can go out and shoot five of thirteen still finished with a double double. He has a double double and people are talking about it being an off night forum and the pistons finally get Blake Griffin back by all accounts Griffin has a really nice game twenty seven points, seven rebounds, six assists from deepens standpoint. He had a lot to do with Jaanus being slowed down. Bookstore. Win by sixteen on the road in the playoffs. I play up but first playoff game ever ever at Little Caesars arena. I wasn't there. But that's a big deal. That's a big deal. I know they're eight seat. I don't care that. They're eight seat is the first playoff game ever inside of the building. That's a big deal. And it's just the bucks. They're little slow in the first half, a guess, but they pull away in the second half the third quarter, especially or they outscore thirty three twenty four. It was just it was a solid game. So I was sitting here thinking I knew I was gonna do this show. I knew I wanted to do a little bit of bucks basketball before I jump full and brewers. There's just not a lot to say about this team. They're playing so well depth for death, percect perspective. I don't know if there's a deeper team in the NBA right now when you look at what some of the guys off the bench did yesterday. Whether it was soba where he at the three three pointers. He finishes with fifteen points. His plus minus yesterday was plus twenty three that was the third best plus minus in the game behind brook Lopez who was a plus twenty seven. And also you had George hill who is at plus twenty four outside of that Ersan Ilyasova as the third best, plus minus mentioned hill eleven points for him, five assists, five rebounds. They they don't need Jaanus. They did not need Jaanus to go out there and still have absolutely no problem whatsoever. Defeating the pistons. There's a stat today in the journal sentinel story about last night's game where the the point differential through these three games is the third highest point differential in the history of the first round NBA playoff matchup. And this is this is borderline historic stuff. That's going on right now at the bucks, and I would be you don't count anything until you got it. But I would be absolutely shocked. If we see a game five at Pfizer form. I think they're gonna finish this thing out at Little Caesars arena. And go ahead and get set for the second round in the second round and should be much more of a challenge. But not a lot to say about the box right now. They're really good. They're they're playing well against the pistons the pistons are as outmatched who's the most outmatch team in the NBA playoffs right now, it's the pistons you can look at every other series, and it's pretty clear that every other series. Is significantly more competitive than what we see with the bucks and the pistons aren't right jump into the Bruce brewers dodgers wrapping up their four game series today. Do have some news regarding an injury for the brewers. Also have some news about the starting rotation. We'll get into that coming up in just a moment or so if you wanna join the program you can do so by calling her texting into the accurate mortgage talk and text line four one four seven nine nine one six twenty four one four seven nine nine one six twenty. "We got one more to give away before the end of the show at five forty five. So we got another one for you here in the next thirty forty minutes or so so stick around for that I Kirk. So do you want to wrestlemainia or do you want to start with this poll that the athlete did about pause? Well, let's start with the poll. Okay. We will start with the poll. So the poll as I mentioned was a story that looks like it took a couple of weeks to kind of put together Samay who's going to join us in about fifteen minutes, the twenty nineteen NBA player pull who's the MVP. Who's the goat? Who's the most overrated players weigh in on the best and worst in the game? So let's do this real quick. Who do you think the players voted for MVP one hundred twenty two votes one hundred twenty two votes? I would say James harden, James harden and forty four point three percent Jaanus second with thirty eight point nine. So it was close. But you know, it's it's funny. A mean, and I talked about this on the jump the other day. He believes that Zeno phobia plays a little factor in this that they're like, he's not an. Doom of over the American do do you think that plays a factor in this at all? No, I think it's because we've seen James harden. Do it in a pressure situation in you know, been to a Western Conference final. Janas I need to see it. This is his year. That's what mean you've talked about. This is his playoff run. This can elevate him like Dirks run in two thousand and what was that six MVP year the next year? And it's this is this is one of those years that Jaanus needs in order to put himself there were like, okay what he did on a regular season. He's doing it in the playoffs. Yes. He is one of the top Paul George finish third-row Embiid fourth. Irene Damian Lillard? Kawhi Leonard got like a vote. It looks like dodge. I next question on the NBA player poll who's the best defender in the NBA, take a guess hundred fourteen votes. I will go with Kawhi Leonard Cohen Leonard got thirty percent of the vote. Paul George got sixteen percent of the vote. Rudy Gobert got fifteen percent of the vote. Patrick Beverley got ten and a half percent. Joel Embiid at four and a half percent Jrue holiday three and a half percent Jaanus. Draymond Chris done two and a half percent clay. Yes. Correct. Mikhail Mikhail bridges, one point seven. Percent. My dog playing and get more respect on defense. You get more love. You know what I'm saying? I should get more love, you should get more. I would have been more love than at least Jrue holiday. Correct. That Drew's bad. Drew's an excellent defender too. Don't get me wrong. But I feel like Klay better defender than even droops who's the best. Ball handler, go kyri, Irvine, Kyrie Irving seventy seven percent of. Yeah. Steph Kemba Walker James harden, Chris Paul next. You're building a roster from scratch who are you signing first hundred twenty-five votes, building a Rosser from scratch right now signing who you signing. I right now if I'm building a roster. Golly. Today, if someone said who'd you start a roster right today. Started with James harden. Okay. James harden finished. Tenth on the list. Jaanus overwhelming favourite at number one by Anthony Davis. Joel embiid. Kevin durant? Lebron James and Steph curry roundup consoled Katie in there. It's a Katie James harden. Those dudes no matter what what they've shown me is that whatever's going on around him, I can still put a team on my back when I need this is where it gets juicy now who's the most overrated player in the NBA only forty seven players were even willing to vote on this. I think from what I've kind of gathered. It's got to be someone on a championship team. Who gets a lot of rec- who doesn't get a lot of respect because they feel he's just like kind of a just just there. It's Draymond green. Draymond green is number one tied with Russell Westbrook. Komo man. Leave Draymond alone. He is a major piece within that team without Draymond. They don't win a championship. Okay. With draymond. I make a month..

"In may when they're still playing in may they're gonna need him to get past the Sixers. They're gonna need him to get past Toronto or past Jaanus need him there better team with him. Which is again, why everybody's got their hair on fire for July. Because if they if he leaves or stays in Anthony Davis goes theories that the team could be the worst, or he leaves and Durant goes, you're breaking up the warriors, and you put in maybe on with Knox and kyri and Durant rant in New York. Now, you got a team that might be able to be built to beat the war again. It's all about beating the warriors. And until we actually see it. We're going to be wondering who can build a team to beat the warriors. And better yet, maybe break up the warriors in the process, and that's why Durant's gotta take a chill pill when everyone's wondering what's going on with him? Where did you come out on the whole debate last week of we're the pelicans? In fair play or when boozing the Lakers, you see that as on the topic Barsha? Yes. And that's what I'm saying that the problem acting good faith for the pelicans with Anthony Davis is they are not the Lakers. He signed with clutch sports, which is LeBron group. Lebron tells mcmenamin do we know something that I don't because I think he's already thinking about getting Anthony Davis says it would be amazing is asked by mcmanamon. Can I use that on the on the record? He says, yes, everybody sees this coming plain as day, and maybe dealt damps doesn't do anything about it gets his ass fired. Then you're comes Anthony Davis wanting to go to the Lakers as we all know. So why wouldn't the pelicans look at them and say guess what keep offering as many young kids? So we could screw with your roster in their kids heads. We have no intention of giving Anthony Davis. What we believe he wants. Especially when he goes on what he said. When he leaves New Orleans. Yes, he will give a very lovely Instagram. Farewell, just like everybody does come on dislike Tonio branded he's going to be great here with the Lakers when he finally gets here because this is where he wants to come. It's not kid each other. Oh, so So Chris Mannix is gonna join us it again, we go down this wormhole now got three hours on this president's day, Chris Mannix, who also as we know is based in Boston. I cannot believe that we're back year after our week and a half long break, and they're still not signed. On a whole holy heck, host of others. Not on our poll. "Show Ryan wheels. With you. Tell four thirty five. At which point the nuggets will take on the Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers going to be fun to watch the locks or listen to that game. Because Joel Embiid unlike the first meeting will play so be Embiid versus Yokich tonight. We have as always much ground to cover seems like when we have a full three hour show where we're like trying to. Okay. What are we? Know where are we going to go, you know, sometimes material can be short? But it seems like on ninety minutes shows where like I get this. So today's one of those days are athlete of the week. A will join us in the next segment. And then at the bottom of the hour very excited about this. Richard Torres is a Olympic hopeful boxer. And he will join us live in studio at the bottom of the hour. USA boxing has got a big competition coming up he'll tell you a little bit about that. And tell you about just how awesome he is his record. Is one hundred and nine in six that is his career record wheels. If I told you a gentleman was one hundred and nine and six in his career. How old would you think this person would would be no idea? He's nineteen years old, and he's fought one hundred fifteen bouts while in his one hundred and nine of them. So this is impressive guy. And he's on the short list of guys that will that could potentially represent the United States in Tokyo next summer. So going to be exciting to have him in studio, and we will be sure not to say anything. Bad to him anything that might upset him. Although we don't make a it's not like we have to alter our behavior to do that. I feel like we're very pleasant people to be around maybe slightly annoying. But overall bad to him anything that might upset him. Although we don't make a it's not like we have to alter our behavior to do that. I feel like we're very pleasant people to be around maybe slightly annoying. But overall pleasant to be around. So I don't think it will come to blows. So big big task on at for the CC Tigers. But look. Before Saturday that won three games in a row. They knocked off the defending national champions who were ranked third. So it's not like Minnesota Duluth was unranked or anything like that. But still every week. It seems as we look at this team. And we see the improvement. They're making and how much better they are. And the big wins that they're getting. It's seems like the next week is an even bigger challenge. You know, they get the road sweep against Miami. Then they split with missile Duluth. Now, they have the number one team in the country. It's not like I promise you next week whoever they play next week. It will be a step down. But the last three weeks have been building up unless they play DU. And then you could argue the emotion is just as high. But I think they don't play DU. I believe they play themselves next week. They got they got by I believe. Territories favourite opponent. Yeah. So I would check that. But our internet crapped out break now as I'm typing, this should be fruitful. Yeah. Oh. Not going to happen. Also, you know that we do the national days around here. Normally, we would do it at four thirty. But we don't really have a four thirty segment today because of the Sixers and nuggets, but we are celebrating one of the national days. It's that important, and we're gonna celebrate before we are off air. So we'll do that in a little bit since I have. Well, it looks like it might be coming back. I think it's back wheels. I was right. They're playing themselves week. Yup. That the good old bye week. Okay. So yes, it will be. It will be not as difficult as playing although they always say the most worthy. Avatar adversary is yourself. They probably don't say that. No. Two eight six zero zero four six by the way, if you would like to be a part of the show get anything off your chest. Tim tebow had some interesting things to say Pat McAfee that we will share with you about his time with the Denver Broncos. And how things didn't end that. Well in Denver. For him in his relationship with John FOX was not the greatest and was. Pretty open about how he felt in his final days in Denver and also explained. Why he wasn't just down to take any job in the NFL? Why wanted to remain a quarterback, which we all know is the reason why he's not in the NFL. Now, if he were to take a job as an h back or tight end or whatever. Special teams guy team ambassador, whatever he would probably still be in the league because he has talent. There's no doubt about that. But it was. The his lack of quarterback talent. That teams were just not willing to gamble on in Tim tebow wasn't willing to play another position. So you'll get some of his thoughts on that coming up a little bit later last night the all-star draft went down so many jokes about Anthony Davis. My goodness. Lebron James took Anthony Davis on his team Jaanus said isn't that tampering? And then Charles Barkley suggested later in the broadcast that Janas trade is entire bench for Anthony Davis. So they were getting LeBron good. They were getting Adam good. But if you missed it and the way that this works is that. You got the starters. And you got your reserves and you draft the starters, and then you draft the the reserves and. By my count. Well, no I lie. No. Because he took Chris Middleton. I so Yana says six pick was Nicole EEO catch. So Yokich will be on team Jaanus and not team. Lebron LSU wasn't that. I guess you're on our team guy. Do you want to know who the guests? You're on our team guy Webster relevant Mr. relevant in the all star draft. Yeah. Who was it? Dirk nowitzki. Awesome. Before him was Dwayne Wade. Those are the two honorary all-stars this year because both of them are probably gonna retire after this year. So they were the last two guys picked LeBron said some made a joke about Dirk Nowitzki and Dirk Nowitzki fire back on Twitter saying you and Dwayne Wade in the two thousand eleven finals now, that's funny. Of course, the Mavericks beat the heat in that finals. Yeah. But yeah, Dirk Nowitzki was Mr. relevant Yokich ended up overall going eleventh, and he was the six pick of Jaanus onto Toco so Yokich will be playing with Steph curry Joel Embiid, the guy he's dueling with tonight. Paul George Kemba. Walker Jaanus is teammate Chris Middleton. Ben Simmons Blake Griffin diangelo Russel, Nick. Another Nicola Nicola. From the magic Kyle Lowry and Dirk Nowitzki. I think I said, I think I was kind of wishy washy the other day when I was talking about what team 'cause I initially. I wanted him to be on team LeBron. But then I said, you know, what I don't like the way LeBron is acting lately. So I would rather be on team Jaanus. I believe that's what I said. But I look at the team and I look at some of the combinations. You could have is I have to look at Ben Simmons is playing he has an asterisk next to his name. But you could have a lineup out there. In the all star game. You could have. Yokich? Vucevic Embiid Dirk. And Ben Simmons and just have a bunch of giant dudes on the floor at one time. Of course, the the star the Yokich is not a starter. Embiid will start over him. But. It'll be interesting to see some of the combinations that the. Team Janas who's coaching. Oh, yeah. Putin holzer. Janas coach will be coaching Nicole Yokich, but seeing Yanni's and Yokich. Who would I would be my lineup. I would have staff at the one then you could play in the back court with them. You could probably play Paul George, then go Jaanus. Yokich and. Why not Embiid that'd be boss lineup? So that's where Nicola Yokich is going to play in the all star game he'll play for a team Jaanus. And as I said before the all star game is on the outside. It looks like just a bunch of dudes running around in in throwing alley oops to each other and not playing defense and goof in and all that kind of stuff, and it is to a large extent. But it's the NBA is kind of a good ole boy club for lack of a better phrase. And once you're part of that your part of that. And you said he wanted to assemble a team main comprised mainly of first time all stars. Because he wanted his team to play hard in. Now Yokich is on that team. So a chance for Nicole Yokich to not only once again, get a national stage, but also be able to play with other guys that will eventually one day become free agents and will one or will one day demand their own trades. Like Anthony Davis did. And I've always said to see to really appreciate Nicola Yokich in what he does you have to watch him regularly or you have to play with him because he's not a guy that's going to jump out on highlight reels like Jaanus. So I think this is a big opportunity for Nicole Yokich to kind of show how fun it would be to play with them. And it seems like a stretch to say that some kind of friendship or something that is forced on an all-star game court could potentially turn into some. I don't know the banana boat. Buddies didn't ages play an all star games together. Lebron and Dwayne Wade mellow and. So Chris, Paul. So in a in a league like the NBA where the players control so much. Four Yokich to be able to play with these guys into show him like. I you would have fun playing with me. You would get a lot of points because I want to facilitate for my teammates rather than score for myself. I think it's a it's a big opportunity for Nicole Ioka. She'll be in the skills challenge again this year, but until the dunk contests are least until three point contest. I don't know how many people tune in to those things. But a lot of people watch on Sunday. On the bus or I. Yeah. It's on a Sunday a lot of people watch and they'll see Nicola Yokich. And so will you know, guys like Ben Simmons and Dangelo Russell and guys who maybe one day might be demanding their own trade just like Anthony Davis. Two eight six zero zero four six anything on your mind feel free to share with us coming up next. Our athlete of the week is from Saint Mary's high school, but he plays hockey for Coronado. There's two reported instances of fans dying other than this one by being struck in the stands by fell balls one happy. Opened to dodger she and so that's no twice dollar shave. Not that it really matters. But it is interesting. Yes. And it just you gotta just it's one of these moments where you must we must learn as a team that just has a safety regulations. Learn from this. So just to see how we can prevent this from happening again the Toby can do. Yes. So going back to NBA Jaanus looks like he is thinking about the Greek freak, of course, he honesty to Cuco. Sounds like he's going to pick Steph curry with the number one pick in the all star game draft. What are your thoughts? So Steph picked Jaanus I last year. So he said he might be returning the favor. Make sense just it's it's a fun exhibition game. So you're not give the guy can shoot it from anywhere. Yeah. Right. I just really doesn't matter to me who gets picked. I it's just like a fun. Like it's like playing pick game with your friends. You picked the guys you like you wanna play around you wanna play with it just it doesn't really matter Yana. So that he wants to pick a team that's going to play hard, and he might be leaning towards younger players because they might have a little bit a little bit hunger to play in the game. Yeah. "A second guard. My starting lineup begrudgingly was career being Bradley Beal Jaanus, coli, Leonard. Joel Embiid, okay? Who is who is your second guard, Bradley Beal he plays for the Washington. Wizards. You said a pretty good season since John wall went down. I mean, it was it was just a classic. The best of the bad possibilities. I mean, it was him versus Kemba versus I'm assuming Ben Simmons. Kyle lowry. I'm not sure who else could have been in that back court designation. But I mean to me, I guess the argument is if they just never had wall the whole season would Washington's record be better. And beals numbers would have been better. Maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. And yes to me. So I guess he sneaks in there. But I wasn't happy about it. And I said I mean four starters really who who belonged. Well. So it's interesting on the Beale point. It's I don't work for the Washington Post. But I did have to do some soul-searching and an integrity. Check with myself because I said like, I don't wanna be the Homer idiot who's out here voting in his hometown hero, Bradley Beal. But I did I mean looking at the alternatives the alternatives were so on inspiring. Ben Simmons who has slowed. Let me ask. Though, if all the depot was healthy the whole year, we have him overbill probably based on team success to break the tie. I don't own anybody in apology. I mean, that's completely like consistent logically. Yeah. And that's sort of the way I broke it down because Ben Simmons has been really good for the past month or so but was pretty uninspiring start the season Kemba has kind of tailed off. So it's gotta be Bill. The one thing I will say is there are a lot of people who keep complaining about the conference imbalance in terms of all star selection and saying, you know, if you're gonna be so well short of I mean to me people saying we need to abandon conferences with the all star game. I think that is the wrong reform to be pushing for in part because I think eliminating conferences altogether is probably a change that would have to be collectively bargained somewhere down the line because it like, you know. All star selections factor into contracts and all sorts of different angles that are sort of two important to just kind of like unilaterally change one summer. But if you're having these guys pick teams every year, you shouldn't least have a chance to have evenly matched starters. If you remember last season the end of the all star game was really cool because you had the ten best players in the league out there on the floor together, except that one of them was damore to Rosen because the coaches were obligated to play the starters. And so you had Damara out there in the mix, and it just like kind of a weird look at the time. And I feel like that continues this year where we have to include Beal where like if we could just slide Paul George onto the east team. We would have a perfect representation of the ten best players. So the last two months man now you're singing beautiful tune. I don't know what happened earlier in this podcast. You went off the rails, Andrew, but that was beautiful music's straight to my soul. I love. Here. Here's a question for you. Okay. Of your Eastern Conference selections. How many could have made the all star team in the west. Starter or bench. I basically see four ic- kyri Jaanus coli and Embiid, I'm not sure anybody else on the team makes it from the Eastern Conference if they had to be a top twelve guy in the west while. So I think that's where the imbalance conversation starts if I'm looking at like, the total pool. What's the breakdown? I probably would have rather had fourteen maybe fifteen Western Conference players versus nine or ten Eastern Conference players. So it's not like twenty two right?.

"Push the ball rain threes be long and Spurs in defense and dominate the paint for seventy points via a seven foot hegemonic unicorn is anything going to derail an inaugural finals appearance for Jaanus, and that's kind of territory, I think we're starting to Wade into the box where instead of like a fun regular season story, we have to start asking bigger questions. I mean like I mean, I was really excited watching on us. I don't I didn't feel like that was a particularly remarkable. Game for him. And then I looked up midway through the fourth quarter, and he had like twenty five and twenty it's just like holy shit house this guy real because if you're asking my take away from Wednesday night like I was more impressed with the bucks defense. And you know, the biggest star on the court the most magnetic presence out. There was still James harden because his his flurry to end the second quarter was out of this world and typical of what he's been doing for the past couple of weeks. But then you look up at the end Jaanus is is just routinely dominating in every aspect of the game except shooting at so I don't know I'm starting to. I'm starting to wonder whether we've been kind of looking at the bucks with like cute story glasses and need to start taking them a little bit more seriously. Yeah. So you started out by saying we have to ask these real serious questions about that. And I am not convinced. Do I need to ask? Those serious questions or can I just enjoy them? Because. They haven't won a playoff series. Yeah. They've got some players where. Playoff brook. Lopez doesn't that phrase maybe send a shiver up your back a little bit. Like, I don't know. Exactly how that's gonna work out. Yeah. We've seen fair of fall apart around Jaanus at the past. I did like the move for George show. I love the pro activity of that not only for the salary cap maneuvers in the future. But also like what that means for their playoff rotation. Like that move for them. And I hate to say this about team that I enjoy watching more than any other team in the league. And I think that represents the best at the NBA has to offer more than just about any team. We've seen in recent years. I'm just not sold that they're ready for the big leaks, quote, unquote. You know, like, I think they they would be swept by Golden State in the finals, and that sort of you know, if they could win two games of Golden State semi that's sort of the standard for this team a contender. And I don't have Milwaukee in that class. That's interesting because I mean, part of that conversation involves the warriors. And I think that the warriors are going to win the title. But I do think that we're gonna see them kinda we's to the finish line. And I think no matter who they play coming out of the east it's going to be a six game series that feels weirdly close for like forty eight to seventy two hours before they win easily at the end and right in this one down has Western Conference leaders. I've taken careful notes on that. There's a real chance it's a sweep engine. Well, please do. Okay. There are a lot of people very seriously doubting the warriors, including some warriors fans I talked to Sam and he'd throughout the four Lakers comparison, and I'm like a slowdown. Okay. The the warriors. Are still going to win the title. I just think that it's going to be slightly more interesting than it has been in past years. But the buck side of it your concerns are valid. I'm not sure how much I'm not sure what what kind of value brook. Lopez is going to have against the team that tries to go five out and tries to get him out of the paint. He was really good last night against heart. A like the Bledsoe brook. Lopez duo containing Hart was really really impressive. And honestly, even more than watching on us..

Nick Wright on Kevin Durant throwing shade at LeBron, talks paying Dak Prescott and more

"Wanna go to Nick ride on this. Kevin Durant for the second time in two weeks has taken a shot at LeBron James called him toxic plan with LeBron's toxic. And then yesterday mentioned all these great players all time and put kyri in and not LeBron. So Nick, right. First things first, we the cower global satellite network. Let's talk about that. I mean, what what did you make Durand comment? I don't think they're a coincidence. Neck. I think he I think he is deeply bothered that he moved to Golden State won a bunch of titles and people still don't put them above. Lebron? That's my take. There is obviously indefinitely some insecurity factor. As far as what more do you want me to do? I I wanted to finals I won the finals with jump shot a jump shot over LeBron. I won the finals the next year with a jump shot in the exact same place. But as you just said, just objectively speaking, he's not better people who know basketball. No, he's not better. But I also think listening saying Kobe's one of the two greatest players of all time isn't absurdity Kobi's as great as he was not one of the two best players of his era. That's LeBron and Dunkin, but that's neither here nor there but about a year ago. Kevin Durant on one of his many podcasts. Bill Simmons talked about the different way that he and LeBron go about their off-season preparation, and he said something I thought was really telling he said LeBron works on his body. I work on my game. As if he didn't see that. Lebron? Was working on his body in order to prolong how long he can play the game. Because the guys seem mentioned are guys that I understand like whether it's footwork worrying Kyrie's case raw dribbling skill or touch on a jump shot. They all might have something on LeBron will the bronze got on. Everybody is the body. He's put together which has allowed him to not only get to the rim. But to be on injured. I don't think that's something from a basketball perspective Durant, fully respects. Yeah. Because it is obviously the opposite of what he has Durant has made the most anyone could ever make with a muscle massive around what I have which is remarkable feat. But it is not comparable to what we see for most other NBA stars. By the way, there's a rumor today colline Kevin Durant to the clippers again, I'll believe Durant's gonna leave. I don't think he has the guts to leave Golden State because he would get crushed. And if he goes to LA and LeBron gets Anthony Davis and he's on the second best team in LA. It's a bad look for him. I don't buy this move. Do you buy it? Are. So I do think I disagree with you. I think Kevin Durant is going to leave. I think he not only has the guts sleeve. I think leaving could it be the only thing to enhance his standing in the league. But the only thing if he leaves he I believe he can't do or would be crazy to do is injuring to another situation where we don't know who the best player is that. So that means he he's already in one of only a handful of situations. He could be in. We're at teammate is arguably better in Steph. So we can't go to the Lakers. And that also means he can't team up with Kawai Jaanus, Anthony Davis LeBron. That's it. So if if it's about winning championships, obviously should stay in Golden State.
