"Don't guarantee results at the end of the day. It's your intangibles that are gonna guarantee results whether that's earning more money losing weight or doing better at your craft constant improvement hard work. Those aren't things that can happen overnight. There's no way too short cut those. Whether that's burning ten pounds adding ten thousand dollars to your bank account or going ten for ten at the free throw line. It takes dedication in work. So if you look at all this overcoming adversity relentless hustle trying to improve grounded inspiring. Hope that's why people are suddenly loving jaanus onto gupo. He's a hard person not to like in these things. I think are transferable to any industry. If you sell it a farmer's market look around to the people you're selling within competing against you can probably pick out the yawn. Is's are you one of them because if you are people will be looking to follow you. They will wanna support you. They wanna like you. They're willing to cut you some slack. The great thing about these traits that jaanus is putting out there. If we set his talent aside yes talent that he's cultivated and grown. He has talent that he's been born with his physical skills and traits that he was born with. Put that aside now. Let's go to what.

"Were pretty young and watching the actual primetime broadcast where it's all kind of condensed and try not to look at the results during the day because you know four hours is still a lot of olympics but if you fast forward a little bit it's like okay. This is nice. You know. I i got i got i got it. I saw the big. I saw the big gymnastics and swimming moments and industry. That's how i've considered my producer tells me i. I pronounced her last name wrong. It simone biles. So i apologize if i said it differently my bed. I said i don't follow the olympics. I wasn't lying. I do find it interesting. So named from what i've heard though what you just said you watch the prime time regular. Mb see that's where the ratings have taken a big hit which again to me makes sense. It's an old fashioned idea. Right there were all right out at eight o'clock right and watch a host. Take us through a day in the olympics including results. That have already happened that are accessible elsewhere. Yes now i will say one of the greatest things to happen because of all this though is did you see the tweet from jaanus yesterday. I don't think i did okay. So obviously jaanus is like the biggest superstar in the world right now just went an nba title. Got his fifty piece. At chick-fil-a goes on twitter and asks what channel i assume the basketball game is on so right right off the bat. I love that you know you. Janas have someone in his camp where we could ask channel. It's on maybe hit the guide button on okay. So someone then tells him it's on peacock and he goes..

"Thank you for doing this. Yeah thanks for asking me. This is cool. Good timing on a book way. We were talking before before he jumped on this. She wrote a book about jaanus. It was due on march the first and she turned it in only for you honestly then go win the nba title fortuitous publishing of course adulation and now my friends think i'm a witch so well we should start there without introduction. I hope that they air all of that. Because if you're not familiar with her work. She writes about people who happen to play sports. But she's interested in telling human stories and her new book janas the improbable rise of an nba. Mvp is out august tenth. Thank you for joining us. What would you say were the things that you learned that you did not know that you found most interesting about a guy that i don't feel like we know very well i feel like we've just got some superficial glances about him being humble and being some of the things that people like about athletes. But you've got the entire biography. The entire journey. Yeah well first. thanks for having me I feel like the entire childhood. Section is stuff that i didn't know you know and that was the gold. Her it was like. How can i bridge the gap between sold trinkets on the street and becomes an nba and leap e. We really don't know too much in between. Where did he sell trinkets. How did he sell trinkets. Who bought it. What kind of food would they eat like. There were just thousands of questions that i had. And what i found was that yes. There are feel-good elements that a lot of people have picked up. You know it's called a fairytale but there are also people that were not kind to him at all. There was so much racism that he dealt with and being undocumented as a black child of migrants was very very hard And i think that gets swept under the rug with janas because people love to talk about his ascension And then finally just there was joy you know a lot of times us in media. We write about the trauma of athletes. And we don't talk about the the good times and the happy times they had but he had a lot of joy because for him. His childhood was normal. You know it wasn't this sob story. All the time. He had a lot of fund so it was really interesting for me to see that childhood part of his life. What are the things that you say. From his childhood or most responsible for shaping who he is as an adult i think first of all it was observing jaanus zaveri intellectual and curious person and is because he would always watch what is parents did so when his mom would work fourteen hour days and come home tired but have this giant smile on her face he could intuit that she was not happy but she was trying to be so that he would have happy memories and she would force yourself to wash her example their socks the each only had one pair and he watches that and he's like that is work ethic. You know nobody has to tell him work hard. He learns it from watching He learns it from seeing that his dad is sitting there smiling even though he's hungry and hasn't eaten in two days because his dad wants to you know give the portion to yonathan his brothers and then i think finally janas is thirteen years old feeling like the man of his brothers. He is watching where his younger brothers go and always having to be careful. When you don't go there or you know oh you can have my food. He almost has to mature so much more quickly than other other boys. What were the hard parts about the transition to america. That was one of the most interesting things i found. So i think if you all remember twenty thirteen fourteen when he's a rookie. Everyone's falling in love with right. He's drinking smoothies. We're all like well. Who is a doorbell greek it. He was deeply deeply lonely and alex. The youngest brother was telling me that janas almost like the nba. He was telling alex in the family. Like if you guys can't come here to america. i'm coming home. So for backstory jaanus and his brother thanassis got citizenship at the last minute by the greek government because unlike in america greece doesn't give you birthright citizenship. Even if you're born there. So once the greek government saw that janas was about to go to the nba. They gave him his papers but they didn't give it to his mom. They didn't give it to his dad and they didn't give it to the younger brothers so they got their visas denied two times. I've found in my reporting while jaanus made it to the nba and it was doubtful whether they were going to be able to move to. America and honest is somebody that so used to sleeping side by side with his brothers. You know being around his family every second and without them he just felt lost. You know he was trying to do well on the court. Milwaukee was terrible. They won fifteen games that year but he was just so so lonely without his family. Why is he so hard on himself. he's so hard on himself because he knows that the chances that people get are so slim there was one moment where he and his brothers had a chance to move up to a better division in greece because they were in the lowest division which is called a two but at the end of the year. If you win your last game you can leapfrog to the top one. And had they leapfrog. They would've gotten money. They would have gotten shoes. They would've would've changed her family's life and They lost and so moments like that where they're all sitting together after this game and just crying watching opportunity slip from their fingers and they realize that the chances that people get do not come off and when they come you have to you have to get them or else you never know when they'll come again so janas grew up with the sense of being so hard on himself dealing with factors that he can't control And there's also a burning desire and him to be great. He has always wanted to be great like he comes to america. Milwaukee doesn't even know how to weightlift but he wants to become the best weightlifter on the milwaukee bucks so imagine learning to bench press for the first time. And you're already thinking about..

"Brook lopez jaanus jasa. Five blocks mean just made things difficult. The rim for the sons who are smaller team who are more oriented made more difficult. But that's a big key right. Defense drew holidays. Defense in these last couple of games made the big difference as well. Yaws defense those big blocks that he had the big blocking game four right. The defense was so important. The fourth thing is is that devon booker is going to have to learn to be able to create for others being more consistent and why it means like devon booker had a good files he did he. he scored forty points in two straight games. He had a thirty one point game. Twenty seven point game like he gains in this files but his shooting percentage was not always consistent there. There were some games Shoot above fifty percent and also he turned the ball down the stretch or turnovers demonstrates were not good. He didn't get his guys very heavily. Involved which is a problem. And that's what he's gonna have to learn younger players that he has to be able to involve his teammates to make things easier for him. He can't be going hero ball the games and expecting the result to be any different. And i like devin booker. I think he's a really good player but to get to that high level superstar level. He's gonna have to do more things than just score for his team to win and he has shown that he could do that. But that's not as mentality all the time. And i think that's.

Let's talk about right now because this is what we're talking about in the postseason damn jaanus. You weren't even the top five score in the postseason were you. It a trash talk taken it in milwaukee today right i want some bureaus tomorrow. That's that's what i'm expecting. That's what i want. I want some back. Nba thought super team on well. They're not gonna call milwaukee super team but everybody was phoenix is close to it. Because you know we. We've arrived at the booker love. Y'all been writing that. Look at chris. Paul playing like i s and yeah andrea aiden. Yep they'll call it. yeah. But i'm jay crowder and you know what it hurts but there's always at least favorite child you baby it you. Oh because i want this. i want ottawa. I want euros. I we have fallen in love with jaanus. Degree of humbleness invalidates. The he's he's lost. We'd we'd lost any champions will be our mindset. Yep so there's the petty there. I don't like phoenix. I can dead. Losing valets everything. Even the small old by thai is just getting your vegetables before he get desserts and say charles nearby critical. I get it but we run the show. We can do it at how we want keeping in mind most importantly everybody most importantly is that chris. Paul shown up is all your whole baggers fall. It took like eighty something games showed up because then turnovers. He has been atrocious. The devon booker such offer. That's obvious and i'm going with it. Complained about calls all these non fouls all this other stuff coming in. I was out for a guy. Who's favorite player. Is kobe bryant. He's played awfully like paul pierce via the upstate. 'cause it's all or nothing at this point yes i know. He's been playing for family. I know he is putting up like back-back thirties. But he's still getting out. Shy by a real byron jaanus who is gonna get files. Mvp a less milton just blows up. Yeah if mills blows assigned that that game on the weekend was intense scary man. It was good that i'm like. This is where i talked about like. Mike bruner hosmer. Not good coach is because of not knowing when they call that time out because adding all right honest the free line. what's up. okay. Are you. Because i look out going back and forth and i know i said the better narrative. Two weeks ago was to have phoenix. Because chris paul monty williams but then i looked at everything and i liked what it feels like america wants. I looked at the fifty thousand kobe. Bryant commercials i just. I looked at all day. I'm staying. I don't even have. I got progressive old. Oh screw state farm. They dropped me after. I have a history of state firm. Yeah who's love by state farm. Aaron rodgers now fraud. "So the best player in the world or who. You taken jaanus curry. James or kevin durant. I like i said i i. Maybe i'm just caught up what i saw last night but it wasn't last night was whole series. I don't think we've given janas the credit he deserves. I haven't. I've thought he was a great player. But i'd i'd may maybe it's because he didn't win a major until you know use a golf reference until the last night but i. I don't know how you're going to find much better to do what he did. Every game knowing knowing that you didn't now while middleton's are good player an all type player. He's not a. He's not a superstar and there is a difference the honest that everything you'd ask out so poll question best player in the world or who you taken as your best choice the best player in world and i think you're gonna see a lot of people get a ton of votes in this and katie's probably going to win it and and janas may not even finish second. I just don't know how we keep him out. And i hope the nba world gives him the credit he deserves. We'll come back and discuss more. You could chime in to the ten year anniversary thoughts on him. What he's meant to you here in houston and who you think is the best player in the world. You're starting to franchise. He's eight seasons in and he's not getting worse is jaanus interesting and i think it's going to vary and i think Tyler you may be right. More people are going to choose him. They're going to be probably be more people. He may not even finish second jaanus. I just don't know how shooters again overall players counting the defensive end. There can't be better in this league and we left out of that list to which is saying something because he plays both ends as well sports. Talk seven ninety poll question.

Just it's still felt like he just wanted it more with the level of energy and i'm midway through reading mirren's fader book about jaanus. I think i'm halfway through chapter nine or near the end of that. And i just the books tremendous tremendous book. We'll have her on some point to talk about it but he's always wanted it more man like some of the stories in that book ever since he was a little kid whether he's helping his family out sound sunglasses on the street. He's playing game with friends. Whatever it might be like serious or non serious jaanus always wanted it more and like it just felt like this game sex with him tired playing over forty minutes. Three weeks after hyperextending is the just the way in which he played tonight. There's one moment in that third. Quarter on my. He's not going to be denied. He's just not going to be denied tonight. And that's just who he is as a person it's who he's always been and yanni's has always been somebody who wants it more. Oh i mean. I put this. "Been chris's approach. Maybe today he might wanna think about switching. Ask about the family. See what is vacation plans. Are you know in the previous twelve times raft. His games and he and he's given the ice grill. Maybe walks up to him and says hey man. What kind of protein or you're working with. I've been doing beyond meat and it's caused a great season working out. Yeah you sweat on purpose. how are you man. She had whatever you do them before temporarily not working so switch it up. A little bit of the sons can change up their approach with how chris interacts the game. They have cameras everywhere all over the arena. We got cameras and guys count money. We got cameras on dell. We got cameras everywhere. Can we get a camera on chris paul before the game and how he interacts with scott foster. My bucks fans friends are actually worried. They think the scott foster assignment is the nba trying to throw us off the scent like oh crystals twelve and the scott foster games. Let's throw scott foster out there. He's got maybe go the other way tonight so you think that has implications with the line in vegas. The other way the idea of he can't possibly go. Oh and thirteen against scott foster. Come on lay a couple on the sons wink wink wink on tonight. Yeah the coronation of this thing in milwaukee that seems like the coronation of jaanus is inevitable. It just seems that's coming. He's the huge favourite for finals. Mvp right now. No one is even close to him and yeah. I think it's going to happen. I actually think it's going to happen. Milwaukee is the better team right now. They're playing better basketball. Like i said it'll cut all hinges on chris. Paul's health ben lines in for rich is in on the rich eisen show. I wanna point out a tweet. I had earlier in the series. The sons are just better at every aspect of basketball. And also have a guy named devon booker. so it's a wrap. Thanks for playing on twitter at the moment. always looking at it from a bird's view. But i bring that up because it feels like we're prisoners of the moment now in this coronation of jaanus as the greatest player on the planet coronation of the milwaukee bucks as an organization new ownership group bring legitimacy back to the franchise to the city. And what's amazing. Is you look at their best players. The two longest tenured guys on the team. Jaanus and chris middleton have been in milwaukee the longest it's a copycat league will teams. Now try and have continuity try and keep their core nucleus together as opposed to going out there and assembling a team a superstar china you know throw throw together a team of boldface names to make a short run at it or the ability to the draft. You do you build with your star players and invest in them long term as opposed to rent a player which has seemed to be the kind of trained in the nba. Or are we gonna see phoenix. Make some type of adjustment beyond ski. The interaction of kristin scott lorrimore so for moncey in an xs and os you start fouling jaanus in a real way in a in a way that takes him out of the flow of the offense makes the crowd feel like they're part of it at first but ultimately take them out of it because there's less of a flow to the game and you don't get those seven. Oh runs eleven. Oh runs that really get everybody involved. You put jaanus on the free throw line four times like to do to shack back in the nba finals. What can you do if your money williams to change.

"Of jaanus. We have a lot to talk about what it when it comes to the greek freak because he is just one win away from winning his first. Nba finals but the two time. Mvp still hasn't gotten total respect around the league from his peers. Just last year james harden. Instead of the honest. I wish i could just run and be seventeen. And just don't like that takes no skill at all. I had to actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill. you know. i'll take that any day. Well chris paul just last week said of his finals opponent quote he comes down there. He dunks his dunks. You don't more than he shoots a layup. I don't know about this bullshit and has earned more respect during these finals for me. I don't respect him anymore. Any less than i did going into the final. Skip for me for a guy that everybody says that he can't do and he doesn't. I think the biggest thing is to make a long story short skip. He can't shoot the ball kevin durant. He's not flashy with handling the ball. Like daimler steph curry. He shoot the then. I saw back shoes. Like james harden. He's not as accomplished or if charismatic is lebron james football. A lot of guys can't can't can't can't he's a two time league. Mvp he's a defensive player of the year and he's on the cusp of winning title and being finals. "As all now. No bullying jess share. Few things with you jaanus tetteh kunpho. Who has his milwaukee bucks up. Three games to two on the phoenix suns and home win away from the first championship and bucks his or in fifty years for the milwaukee bucks franchise the first since kareem abdul-jabbar. An oscar robertson did it. How's that for some big names and He's averaging thirty two point three points. Thirteen rebounds five and a half dimes one and a half steals one point two blocks on sixty one percent shooting ryan. Jaanus is the only player ever in the seventy four year history of the national basketball association to average thirty ten and five on sixty percent shooting in the nba finals. Jaanus getting busy period. The end and yet. I turn on my television and i hear people say he's arrived in. He's not a batman. Chris middleton the batman. I television and i hear people say he can't shoot. He can't hit free throws he can't hit mid range. he can't hit threes. I turn on my television. And i see one ryan holland's saying is ain't all that and here's what i want to say ryan. Why in the work came. We stop selling jaanus short. That's all i'm asking. I'm not asking you to declare him the best player in the world. I'm asking anyone declare him the goat. I am saying this dude is ball in. Can't we give him his propper's no no no. No here's the thing guys like you oversell it. If i'm not mistaken i didn't. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna criminal let you. You'll call them to go. You said he's on the way to being the greatest of all time you saw a little bit. Click betas and it was like i just saw goat. Jaanus your name in it. And i'm like yo. Here's what i okay i. What every now and again every generation or so okay. There's a player or two that we see has go potential. If football in his second year. I said padma hose has go potential. Not saying it's gonna be when lebron was coming into the league you know. What were we saying. Go put sensual. Doesn't mean he's going to do it. Just means it's within him. You know as possible is within the realm of possibility and you know. We don't say that about everybody. We don't say. Kobe was great. But i'll i'll remember anybody saying he might end up being the goat michael. Well i'm just saying durant. Also i don't hear anybody say he might be the go or potentially could be the goat one day all leading. They are from the go. Are you putting you on us over. Kobe katie know what i'm saying is potentially potentally. He could be better than them. Potentially crazy decade. Chris is very hard. It's very here's the deal and we will both agree to this. It is very hard for a non shooter to become not just a solid shooter but a not bound shooter. Because you're you asking him to be a knock and if he's knocked down if he's let me find like a day. I wanna say paul pierce but not too good. I want to say katie's deftly to good colby's death like like maybe become a coli kind of alive. Got the moraine even if his brian. How about lebron the mirzadeh great shooter. If he's a lebron shooter we can put him in a conversation. But here's the deal. Lebron at his age was a much better shoot. Yonathan age ages bad. So i if we can all agree that jump shot was there but at this it's kind of irreversible he'll improve your only twenty six. He'll chris hill improve by that by the time he really improves. Athleticism won't be there. You know what i'm saying. But there's i'll i'll pee. You wear likely chris. He shooting lissette. he's i think he's made. What if i'm not gonna say one three point a finals but one hear me out here be al. Because i'm with you. I'm with you. You don't seem like you're with me to respect on that. Look he's all i'm saying. I wear into the finals. Okay say and if jaanus wins this championship he still won't be the best player in the world stopping. I was saying all that cool cool but what. I've seen these finals and i'd be shocked. If you say differently is that. He's playing to his strengths. The reason we jaanus his inability to shoot jumpers. Because he's out there shooting jumpers. Were saying you know what i'm saying. How remember seeing came shoot threes and and 20-footers but he didn't doing what he did. I would have made him to down through. You know what i'm saying. I'm saying that in these finals. Maybe it's the competition. I don't know but in these finals. Jaanus is playing to his strengths. Now he's not showcasing his weaknesses. I don't care kareem didn't shoot 20-footers who knows chris. I don't like you doing it. Because when you say karim skyhook and then you say jaanus you're putting them on the same playing and they're not because kareem skyhook worked against everybody it works couldn't do everybody not a snowball's chance kris who do this against coli bam out of bio had kidney. Do grow kenny. Improve getting mature. He he say bandhu is weighing in. That first round was he not he listener. Team was the team was our by shield. The wings didn't show up. They they make it to. The blame was still in a bubble doubt and they had a bad season and went. Like they just stung. They had a bad. They are who we thought they were. Here's here's the deal man. Janas in twenty twenty one is the same jaanus. he wasn't twenty twenty and it's nineteen chris. What he's a say. In fact he got worse. He was an mvp in the last year. He was an mvp and defensive player ear and he got out of that. Well he wasn't you know he wasn't gonna win any of that until you wanna championship. But but harry my plight yo you keep doing it in the regular season and fizzling in the playoff don't make is he's the same player you know what he's got. Thank his lucky stars. Instead of you you writing jaanus kotel. You need to be talking about giralda stop. You need to get to nice shooting games in a row from drew holiday holiday flowers. Chris paul's blood. He had.

"Was a lot of you know almost postmortem on the milwaukee team and jonas was like you know i'm not sure milwaukee's in this thing and obviously when you haven't lost yet at home even though it's two oh it doesn't feel like maybe it's over sake. Well what happened is what was expected but history towels us when a team goes up to at home i in the title series especially. It is tough to come back. And milwaukee is three games. they're three straight wins but jonas was Optimistic about that. Let me ask you jonas in heinz. Not in hindsight but at the time. What was it that gave you optimism on milwaukee and house. It played out relative to what you expect. It was just how good jaanus looked..

"So you know it's still possible may be saying some of those things because there is a game six to be played and walk us for point. We've already mentioned jonas's block and the alleyoop and we've talked about jaanus lot appropriately but One thing that's got huge amount of attention. Is this quote from a press conference where he kind of talked about his philosophy of life and approach to sports. Let's listen to that when you focus on the past that your ego. I did this. We're able to be distant scene for all the i did this in the past. I want that in the past folks in the future is my pride like yeah next game game five. I do this. This and this in non dominant. That's your pryatta like you. It doesn't happen right here. And i kind of like third folks in the in the moment depressed in that humility. That's been humbled. That's not set. No expectation does going out there. Enjoying the game competing i live. Jonah says just lovely. And i would point out that. There's something about these. New greeks star athletes jaanus and stefanos they just exude earnestness earnestness and in a sense and they come from a culture that i will say is super cynical and i think what you have to understand how y- honest grew up to understand why he might think the things that he just said and believe the things he just said. This is a black african kid growing up in an all white society that is largely racist. This is a kid that sold watches on the street corner in the market in downtown athens..

"Gonna hurt his defense to well. I mean i think defensively he's gonna be. Okay what is the veg though. Isn't it the same thing as physicality. Yeah but i think that he's a mismatch for a lot of guys down there outside of eight and he's a guy who can defend aden 'cause brook lopez plays although he's a big guy you know he shoots. He's turned into a three point shooter. Jaanus is really. I think they're paint presence. And i still think he can have an impact on this. Which is maybe why you know. The lion hasn't been adjusted as much. Maybe they see that as a possibility. For milwaukee i just. I'm surprised that that this is where i all. I'm surprised it's even questionable tonight. I thought they would try and cheat a couple of games acknowledging look to try and get even one game in phoenix would be a nice thing to have happened. But let's at least maybe wait until game three. We get back home. We cheat an extra couple of days. Yeah so i'm surprised we're even here to begin. But it's a sign of optimism that we are. Yeah no i agree right and and yeah i. I don't think that they would chance it. Because i also think his future is up in the air as well to if they if they thought that there was a chance that this could have a major damning affect on his future. I don't think they would even entertain this number now. He took the trip to start with if they if they didn't think there was a vibe with chance of him playing one of the first two games. Why take the trip. Yeah so the some degree him taking the trip said he was close. Now 'cause you could say this is all big food gezi a big deception. But i don't think the trip is worth it because you could be getting treatment at home sleeping in your own bed. I don't know if it matters if he goes in a weird way. If i was looking back the bucks. I'm rj bell. We are straight outta vegas talking about the jaanus factor in what the odds towers and quite frankly. This is something few other shows are capable of breaking down not the basketball side. There's great basketball minds out there. But what are the betting odds town. Us and with their talents is that with. Yawn is being uncertain. It's minus two hundred for phoenix. And maybe to kind of close the other side of this. What would the odds be if he was out totally out totally is or check that we explained if he was out totally my street hunter but what happens if he was one hundred percent healthy. No he's not going to be but it will give us a sign post that if he were one hundred percent healthy for all seven games we project that the bucks would be about minus one sixty favorites. Now remember last week before jaanus was hurt. The west gate here in vegas came out with a line. If it were to be phoenix you know. It was projected or perspective line. If it were to be phoenix and milwaukee it was milwaukee and remember phoenix has the home court and they did at the time to mock. You would have been a minus one fifty favor so the fact that our math is telling us mind is one sixty based on janas worth compared to the minus two hundred. And all that is one. Were really gratified in a firm by being within ten cents of what west gate had up so now yawn is one hundred percent healthy bucks or laying one sixty now with his uncertainty phoenix's laying in two hundred bucks or taking back about one. Eighty one seventy okay. That's a huge adjustment. But now think about this the distance through three points that matter if there is no jaanus minus three hundred phoenix current state minus two hundred phoenix. So that means one hundred cents would be gained by phoenix. If you're honest was out for the whole series but if yawn is one hundred percent it would be minus one sixty four milwaukee which is a hundred and sixty cents. So what we're saying here is between the ranges. there's two hundred and sixty cents or two dollars and sixty cents and we are a hundred away from so we're much closer now gonna stop playing it all right so it's one hundred percents for that. Then we are one hundred sixty away. So amongst two hundred sixty cents from the extremes. A hundred of it is from the current state sought plan planet all one hundred and sixty s from the current st. John's be one hundred percent doesn't it seem like him. Possibly playing in game one is closer to one hundred percent than unless i think he's going to be hobbled the entire series. Wouldn't you think by game four game five. He's moving towards one hundred percent that that would be my my guess because i just so so it seems weird that the line is more towards. He doesn't play at all than it is towards these one hundred percent healthy. Yeah that that's and what do they expect first of all. There were no structural damage. So it's a hyperextension. And i i don't know the time line on healing when it comes to the hyperextension but the fact that there was no structural damage anywhere. It's not like a sprained. mc l. Where you know he's gonna. I sure be compromised. Because there's a ligament loose or ligament tore up a little bit. I mean this is all just about his mobility and they're not going to send him out there if there was risk of him hype. Doing actual ligament damage here. So the fact that it's moved the way that it has when to me. This is all positive. And all good news for the milwaukee by. That's the part that that's surprising and you when we opened the show. The game line on pregame.com was phoenix minus five. And a half. It's now gone up to phoenix minus six so there has been it has ticked up a little bit which is saying the market. The market is saying now this could be a sign that there's some you know inside info that hey he you know he's not feeling tonight but the line at five and a half or six is saying no jaanus effect anyway so the fact that when it went from him being doubt for which assumed. Oh jaanus in. We're talking about for the one game now is when it went to questionable in the line. Only move to half point man. Oh man that that that is a real commentary that they don't expect anything from yawn tonight. Okay i can accept that but he is a good sign even if you might say but rj. It's no effective he plays. There's no effective. He doesn't play in this game. You're right but there's an effect in how close is he towards being a net positive and it seems like the fact he could even consider playing tonight means he's closer that and the fact is i would expect to see the irony is. I could see the game price not adjusting tonight. I would have thought the series price would have adjusted. Walk us favor a little bit. I agree so let's do this. Let's take our first break when we come back. We're going to explain. Well let's do this. I've got some massive game one trends now at the end of the show. We're going to have some pigs. Maybe even multiple picks series perhaps game for sure. But i've got two trends. Both of them back phoenix. That really really. One is a game. One for the nba overall title series. One is milwaukee and game ones. Both of them do not look good from walkie. He's rj bell. I'm jonas knox. This is the pre-game show. Best Value Plays for the NBA Finals

"I want to touch on the nba no guest for the nba finals discussion. And we've done that throughout the postseason. Basically i wanna touch on a couple of things that stand out to meet the honest injury. Look we all wanna fire and make bets and hopefully win money on these big events right whether it's the super bowl the nba playoffs stanley cup. You name it but sometimes there's just not an edge and i just think it's too difficult right now to lay the series price of two dollars not knowing exactly what we're going to get with honest and when we're gonna get jaanus to return all signs point to his being out tonight for game one but willie return game two or game three. How effective willie b last round. We saw trae young return. And frankly i probably would have benched him in game six in the fourth quarter. At least he just wasn't that effective wasn't the usual stellar trae young. We were used to seeing this postseason or is it like joel embiid. After missing the second half of game four in the first round then missing game. Five sixers beat the wizards he. He came back from the injury and he was just managing pain more than anything. He was still dynamic. Not quite the same. Didn't have that dunk that. He said he could do it. One of the end of the one of the games. I believe it was game four against atlanta but nonetheless it just wasn't the same embiid but it was close to so if you can tell me exactly like how big of a percent how close to one hundred percent. We're going to be honest then. I can come up with a firm play in terms of the series price. Game one for me. No real opinion. It's already baked in the line. Honest isn't gonna play it. Let's say he's out officially might go from six to six and a half if he's miraculous you're gonna play maybe goes to three from the minus six just because it won't be one hundred percents so it's really tough game one favorites in the nba finals. The last fifteen sixteen years fifteen in one straight up fourteen to two. Ats now that's just a trend but sup denote given the sons at home court. I think they're going to win the series again. Don't wanna lay the two dollars. I think we're seeing a very loose milwaukee team that finally got over the hump reach the finals. They've been playing really tight. The last few postseasons especially this year. They were really tied against the nets but did get the w. thanks to kevin durant shoe size and game seven enabling the game to go to overtime and obviously outlasted atlanta thanks to couple injuries but both teams have benefited but nonetheless. They are here. No asterix whatsoever. At all. In my opinion. I just think if the only play i'm making a cpa three to win the mvp at plus one eighty to me. He's going to get all the difference from the voters if the sun's win at all thus booker or whoever else maybe eight and but book is really the main competitor. He has to put up astronomical numbers and for the sons doing. I just think c. P. three's going to have to have a stat line right. He's going to have to have double digit assist and a few games. Put up some points. I just don't think booker's capable of just having monster monster monster games in the four winds. So i think if it's remotely close. I think it's gonna go to chris paul because the leadership and all the other narratives so plus one eighty compared to minus. Two dollars is worth it to

"They've got great depth. But i don't know that you really know where it's coming from only given night bogdonovich to me is the key. He's the barometer. He finally made it appearance in series in the last game he's still was just seven for nineteen but right now he'll take seven for nineteen. He was that bad in the previous six or seven games. He's the key john. Collins has to be obviously great kevin hurt. Who's got a really step up. But you just don't know there's a lot of question marks where the offense will come not so much with milwaukee. You know who it's going to run through and that you've got a lot of faith they could get it done and they're at home so if both of those guys sat the next three games. I like the bucks. How about you seth. yeah. I like the hawks. And here's the deal jaanus with him on the floor there plus five oh nine hundred of course season that means they're minus five hundred with the martha card. Are you kidding me. There's no way to replace. What jaanus does the easy basket to get it. Put so much pressure on middleton cameras through terrific job on him the other day getting up and underneath and pressuring him taking his first dribble at the rim contesting his shot. I look at this box team. I think that holidays the key. He's gotta play like an all star he's got to play like olympian. He's gotta play like what he's getting paid for now if he plays. Well i could say maybe the bucks a shot. I think that the hawks have more guys that can make plays. I love what they're doing. Defensively in terms of loading the box basically defending now pressured middleton and then defending the box in a lot of ways like they defended the knicks by loading up the box and take away all driving lanes for holiday to watch. Expect it to look like tim. Lego let's let's envision a game and if you listen to malacca of read between the lines jaanus was in in excruciating pain the other night and has swelling trae young. The best we can save him is that he actually made the trip to milwaukee so reading between the lines. I think it sounds unlikely. We'll see either of them. At least tonight. What is this game. Look like tonight. Tim lego these to these two teams without their superstars. Yeah well i think. Look milwaukee. Obviously now have an opportunity to be at home. Get that adrenaline. Get that crowd. Three point shooting going to be critical for both of these teams. Because you're going to have less offense creation by star player. Kupu put so much pressure on defenses to collapse on the lane. Guys have extra time to lie shots and those role players need that time. Same thing for atlanta trae young's in the lane all night long and that gives by donna vich and hurt her and lou williams and collins.

"Milwaukee. It wasn't just the honest it was. Chris middleton with a huge gain lifting the bucks. What did you think of middleton's contribution. He's been dramatically improved plan at home vs on a roll so i wasn't surprised that he came on had a big game. But i can't say that. I didn't think that i knew he would match his playoff career. High he was outstanding shop was locked in and he talked about when he's out there ball and he just think like he's planning to park you. Know what. I mean and effortless. Ooh that right there. That lee back step back players like us. They don't have hops vintage out there. And the thing is he never got sped up he never got fed up and for people like me a look at those numbers. I told you those numbers it is. I can tell you how he played in day. Homeowner role right and here. Something that i just wanna put out on the table. Just conversations say. I was a person and rightfully sold at wanted to see janas brought during accept the challenge on k. d. when he was going crazy are we going to say about k. d. middleton's going. Oh i'm also because this is what i don't see. This is what i do. Also the story was honest. Cover kadian now. The story is katie then. Covers is not the story. I'm just saying like we. We gotta be fair if if that's what we're going to do i put it out on the table by janas needing a guard k. d. so it just needs to be set into the atmosphere for fared something else that was said into the atmosphere was jaanus is taking me jump shots. Janas settling too much. Guess what happened last night. Not that correct not that correct. Not that jacoby. You'll appreciate this okay. Jaanus is to park is field. The wind is blowing basket or file. Don't know milk. I show up at a gym show up at a park and i double ramps. No john silver's not. I am not shooting a jump right. "Man. How much can change over the course of the weekend. I'll watch game three. And i thought that's gave it away. They're fine. that's about as dumb of game as they're gonna lose. They easily could have won nine different times. They played terribly. They still almost one. And i'm not sure what walkie has for answers. Go into game for the nets are up thirty. Four twenty five have all the momentum schimidt face commits a foul and middleton four point play and it opens the floodgates bucks go at a nineteen to to run. Kyri sprains his ankle during the run and the entire series shifts. And now kyrie is out. We have no idea when hardens coming back and you saw what the nets looked like as a one man team russillo. It's sunday the bucks. Flip this series. Yeah i mean they did because now we don't know about the kyri part but i'll tell you like just doesn't happen very often because i felt like milwaukee you look at him. You're like all right. I like him look all the size. Look at all this stuff. Those first two games are so bad in game three. Even though they want a bill. I felt worse about him. I go this say this has like. There's a version of this breakdown. Which i still will probably do. And perhaps regret because the bucks of winning the series of his just durant but there are fundamental problems that this team has Would jaanus being the initiator and so many things in middleton was for two games drew. Holiday can do anything. We're like three games. He was a little better. They shot it better and felt like once kyri went down it was forty four forty five forty two left in the second quarter at the nets just emotionally were like in shock. They were very flat for a long period of time. And then i think milwaukee actually kind of matched their lack of emotion but it was just. Do Lakers deserve an asterisk for 2020 championship run?

"Got mentioned Perc said, no Asterix Brian Windhorst are ESPN NBA insider on the hoop collective podcast whether he thinks this title and remember he's been around Lebron longer than anybody that's been covering him whether this title is free clear and legit. I just have really strong beliefs that winning a championship is so hard. No matter. The circumstances that there's never an Asterik I'll I'll never ever I gotta be careful being so you know absolute but I just never believed that I and so this year. I thought that the level of play was great and I thought that the level that the Lakers showed in this bubble was spectacular. They are the absolute worthy champions. It's fair enough. The offense in the bubble especially was at another level. I don't understand why people would even have that conversation I mean you gotTa. All. NBA Players. And all the coaches and the people that have come on with US clearly state how hard it here's the plane of bubble without fans in you have to motivate yourself. I've gone through this many times trying to explain to people. They're stuck in an environment with no fans limited family and supporting family members and friends around. They're stuck in a hotel room not stuck in a ten thousand square foot house. This stuck in. Hotel Room One TV. Okay wallpaper on the walls. You can hear the next door neighbor a thin walls like really like and they're eating basically the same sort of gourmet cookie. There is no going out and getting this. It's totally different. I am not going to do a disservice to the Lakers by giving them Astros for this year saying, Oh, this is crazy. It's insane what they've been able to pull off during a pandemic during social justice all the things they've stood for not being around their family to do this wasn't insane insane year end insane accomplishment, but but. I do look forward to next year. That was your Asterik, I do I do I do afford to win Steph? Curry Klay Thompson draymond green when they're fully healthy what they can bring to the table I. Do look forward to seeing what the clippers will bring to the table and if they actually do how higher coach right if they actually do meet in the playoffs how that will be the coli that's pg going Lebron James and I do look forward to seeing you know Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn what that brings it a table what happens with the would milwaukee and Jaanus. Could they get a Bradley bill to come to the table that missing link with Chris Middleton? There are a lot of things that look forward to next year considering if teams have to go on the road and when that or how that stuff plays out when it's not at a new site. So never going to disservice this was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen, but I do so why? So why are people out there trying to do a disservice given ashes to the? Lakers. Why? I I think people were doing that at the beginning by saying, Hey, you know you're not GonNa but They didn't make any sense he. Didn't make any sense I mean those are the people that haven't been to the bubble that haven't left their family for three and a half four months that don't know what the social pressure is the pressure to be alone to handle all that stuff there somewhere else.

Anthony Davis Has Room to Grow

"GonNa Focus on the Lakers, which as an editor is near and dear to my heart because sharks picked the biggest red meat team on on on the table here. But they've been really impressive with us are there to one and Anthony Davis looks like probably the best player in the bubble thus far chunks. Why don't you leaders us through some of the things that have been happening with Lakers why think for the record this is called the impossibly good-looking persons corner just clarify. For. Their how dare sir? Okay so we're looking at the Lakers thing to me that's jumped out in the first three games is how they're playing when Anthony Davis playing without Lebron on. So that was been their biggest problem. All season is those non Lebron ad minutes because he idea was. Okay. If you have a D- then Lebron can rest he can get. His breaking it as time off, and they'll still be fine. But before the restart when eighty was out of the Ron, he was minus three and five, hundred, six, hundred minutes as those are important minutes Lakers have to win in the restart I mean obviously is a very small sample size but who cares where we're doing podcasts in the restart their plus night. Eighties playing without Lebron. That's just a massive flip on their whole situation and to me watching those minutes was set out to me I think number one. Not Having region Rondo. I think that really kind of low key killed their team because when rondos playing he has to have the ball right like Rondo can't play off the ball Swiss hole in the ball he's not really a threat to score someone's really guarding him and then on defense that giving you much either so like Alex the numbers when ad and Rondo without Lebron it was minus five and without Rondo they're playing Caruso and waiters with a d the floor is spread and the thing. Anthony. Davis. You don't need a traditional point guard Anthony, Davis give eighty the ball in the mid postals kill people right? He gets the ball then it kicks shooter instead of the Rondo. So it's like ADP without Rondo back great and the other thing too is eighty at the five. So they're going eighty Kuzma than like Greener Casey Caruso waiters whatever. Eighty s numbers at the five the year are insane. They're absolutely ridiculous. So cab. Looking at that with no Devellano Dwight Eighty has a usage of twenty eight shooting of Sixty six point six. Now base that means in English as eighties in the ball, like he's hardener Jaanus and he's been the most efficient player in the league. So if looking at those two numbers, there's only been one player in NBA history that had to be that efficient at that. High usage not staff like five years ago. So basically, when eighties at the five, he does a established about shooting threes he's basically scoring at will every single time I think long story short eighty more room to grow I. Think we're seeing that right now like leading a d. plan space given him the ball he's got levels still the go to get into them right now. Yeah I. So the biggest thing off of that, which was great I just wonder if their margin for error is too thin right now obviously the Lakers have been incredible. So let's get that caveat out of the way I think probably favorite if not among the favorites for the title. People like to remind us on the group Chat specifically Chris Because I don't think sharks was. One I remember that yeah. Where we pretty much we troll the Lakers after their first loss of the season and. Venture like the succeed but clearly, they've they've far exceeded those expectations. Great. Please don't ask me. But I do wonder as bad as Rondo has been at times. As much as Bradley is the fifth most important guy on that starting lineup at times I do wonder if the margin for error is a little bit more thin and you are relying on the cruise of the world on the Casey Visa, the world more than you would like to my wrong rob now I mean I'm I'm pretty compelled by this whole situation that sharks laid out like the idea of shifting some of those pieces around and unlocking ad in a different way like makes logical sense to me given his skill set this is. The Guy, who can you know Kevin O'Connor talked in in the restart this week about how? Bam. Out of Bio Converts Defenses Ad in the mid post has a similar effect where if you clear out, you give him space and a straight line drive past almost any big in the league like that's such a powerful thing that there should be a way to orient pieces around that. Make Sense I. Think I get skeptical is in that margin for error and it's in, you know if you look at kind of the core of these lineups. AD and CAL Kuzma, and Alice Caruso or kind of the three man anchor of it and in around that, there's a revolving door of guards. You got some Danny Green minutes you get some dion waiters minutes he gets JR Smith gets in Casey ep you got whoever they cobbled together in that minute in the rotation at those guys scare the hell out of me a little bit and I think you know when you flashback to eighty as a Pelican and where he was some of where they fell apart without drew. Holiday on the floor without kind of more traditional point guards on the floor which just not having competent entry passers not having guys who could get a d. the ball in positions to score, which is it seems like such an easy thing. But the thing I don't trust dion waiters to do but it is a thing. Maybe I do trust Danny Green to do it. You know like some of these more professional veteran level guys like that distinction I think is an important one and probably the difference between bubble seating. Games bubble playoff games, right where you're getting Jr's and the demons at least lower in the pecking order if not out of the rotation on a regular basis entirely, and then you're looking at these minutes where it's you know, Danny Green Casey P. and those guys and cannot work I. Think I. Think there's a chance that it does but I do get a little bit suspect just in the sense that once playoff defenses are really keying in on what this lineup look like and how it works what does that? Mean deep because you know Jaanus has had that scrutiny in terms of a big who handles the ball who's creating for space lineups like we know what that looks like in defense is know what that looks like defensive kind of just been dealing with these Lakers lineups without Lebron floor all year haven't had a lot of trouble with them, but they haven't hammered them either in terms of the the mechanics of how they work. If this starts working, then you invite that level of

Orlando Magic's Jonathan Isaac explains why he didn't take knee or wear Black Lives Matter shirt Friday

"We had an incredible opening weekend of games name a star level player that player delivered at least once if not twice over the first three or four nights of the NBA's restart here in Orlando, we had crazy comeback wins. By the Houston Rockets, we had a dominant performance by. Jaanus over some little pesky pip squeak team from New England I forget who they might be. We got Marcus smart got fined for trying to work the officials. We've got storylines upon story lines. The clippers bounce back from their loss to the Lakers. Looking excellent and just throttling the New Orleans Pelicans. There's so many different directions that we can go Michael that I decided. Here's what we're GONNA do opening weekend heaters we're GONNA have just open ended questions are we're going to ping pong back and forth you give me your answers I'm going to give you my answers to these questions and try to cover as much ground as possible before we get there though I do want to double back quickly on the national anthem demonstrations that we touched on last episode, we got so many thoughtful emails from various members of the open floor globe on this subject, but I think there was a major development after we spoke on Friday. and. That involve Jonathan Isaac Meyers. Leonard Gregg Popovich Becky Hammon and one of the NBA referees all deciding to not kneel to not really participate in what had been in unified demonstration on Thursday. All of those people who chose to stand were obviously doing it on principle and they were doing it knowing there was going to be a lot of attention their direction. Now, if you look at Popovich amend the referee essentially, they were trying to just say, Hey, I support the the Social Justice Movement it's it's a private or personal decision for the referee said look I it's important to me to stand Meyers Leonard made a similar comment. Essentially. Saying that his brothers military service in the in the military service of close people in his life led him to WanNa stand to salute the flag. But within Isaac was a slightly different case and he actually used this entire demonstration opportunity to almost have a one man demonstration of his own. In his belief, the idea of the black lives matters movement quote unquote doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. He also said that you know we shouldn't be necessarily judging things solely based on skin color that we should be trying to live a life basically you know in God's mold and try to live up to his standard, and that Jesus Christ was his personal savior and and that he wanted everyone to focus on that. Aspect of of living rather than the particular issue that was being brought forward with the black lives matter movement by the players he didn't really get any major pushback. Within the NBA Community people respected his right to make a stand. He actually not only did he stand during the national anthem? He didn't wear a black lives matter t shirt which many people notice because he was essentially the only player not to do that his whole personal story Michael took a crazy twist over the weekend and sad twist when he wound up tearing his ACL injury that's going to end his time here in Orlando obviously but also could cost him all of next season. So now talk about a whirlwind seventy, two hours for player who generated millions of us with his comments about the protests. I'm curious. Let's start with Jonathan Isaac. What did you make of his decision? After we've seen things settle in the last couple of days You know maybe it doesn't seem quite as Eye Opening as it did at that moment, but I'll admit I was I was surprised to see given the buy in from everybody on opening night. Right, I mean I just WanNa Start and say that it it really really is a bummer to see anyone get injured but particularly is ICK who was already on restriction he was already playing with a humongous brace on his leg from a previous injury that cost him a majority of this regular season before it was suspended. So I just I feel for him greatly. I I think generally speaking. The coverage of who stands in who sits I mean we talked about this heading in anticipated it I. Think I think the coverage is generally besides the point and it doesn't really get the point I feel like people are using. This as an opportunity to shame those who are standing in a little bit I mean Meyers Leonard. said, he couldn't sleep before he made the decision to stand and that's just like not. The whole focus or the point here right like. You can obviously Support Black lives and also stand for the national anthem. It is a symbolic gesture that is what it is in the case of Isaac. I really had a difficult time understanding even what his message was until you interpreted it the way that you did I mean I watched the clip of Him Multiple Times survey there I'm GonNa just GonNa read what he said I and then we can use that as a jumping off point because I don't WanNa torture what he said earlier and I might have done that. So sorry for that. He says quote absolutely I believe that black lives matter kneeling while wearing a black lives matter t shirt doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. I. Don't think kneeling or putting on a T. shirt for me personally is the answer i. Feel like for me, black lives are supported through the Gospel. All lives are supported through the Gospel. We all have things that we do wrong. Sometimes, it gets into a place of pointing fingers. We all fall short of God's glory whoever will humble themselves and seek God and repent of their sins. We can see our mistakes and people's mistakes and evil in a different light. Racism isn't the only thing that flags our society, our nation and our world, and he basically said he wanted this conversation to get out of the realm of skin color because the answer to all of our problems in everything that goes on in our world is Jesus. So. when I watched the clip. I'll I'll be honest. I was a little confused where he was going to after typing it all out trying to marinate on what he was saying I think he essentially wanted to have a demonstration on behalf of his religious beliefs and that this was an opportunity for him to say look you know focusing only on one particular group I. Guess in his view, the black lives matter group and you know everybody wearing a t-shirt doesn't necessarily achieve the wider goal which would be presumably healthy living. You know honest living you know Living which to him as a higher priority I think that's where he was going with his statements.

"Malcom gladwin is a stone cold genius who loves A grade sports argument. I went onto bill. Simmons podcast and I had this totally ludicrous thing that I want to talk about. Which was I was like? Could a basketball team made up of Nigerians? An all time basketball team made up of Nigerians be the greatest basketball time and then I ended it. I amended until as I said all right I have to corollaries one is. I'm going to add west Indians because almost Indians not all mostly I'm Jamaican. Where am I what am I people from? We're from originally like I'm Ibo right most Jamaicans cable so I add the Caribbean and then I said and just refund. That's also add the rest of Southern Africa and then I construct the students. Tony Ridiculous Caribbean so busy. I say out can Africa and the Caribbean put together an all time team. It's better than an african-american team a euro team at a white American team. It's the third one. Maybe not. The answer is yes. We don't have time to do this but I will convince you. I can't convince you to Africa and the Caribbean in basketball. All Time team and also your co you qualify by or Nigeria. Will I started? I start with all of ethnic did not all? I'm only adding. I added Southern Africa. 'cause I WANNA have Steve Nash and Joel Embiid on my team. Wade Steve Nash. Born in Johannesburg. He's Canadian. No my rule is that you. Are you qualify? Virtue of your parents. Place a birth. So get all of Steve. Nash Who Play Thompson. Really? He's Bamyan are are are taking. Tim. Duncan Tim Duncan Hang Hau Kim Elijah Akeem Joel Embiid Yoenis Clay Andre iggy Dow Victor Depot Drink Igwe Dolla. Where's he from Nigeria okay? He's full on your deal and Steve. Nash I got a back court of Nash and Thomson. I got a frontcourt of Dunkin embiid. Jaanus Patrick Ewing forward a okay. Right right right right from the islands. This really is in the island. This team is insane when Patrick's coming off the bench. But how just doesn't matter but Kim Jaanus and but sure but but the other team has Lebron Kobe. Japan Michael I know. Just for starters and Steph curry just restarting Potanin Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Just just try go ahead. That's the African American teachers. Try Playing Lebron Jordan. Notice what we doing that thing ooh together. Thomas can't come in and Magic Johnson coming in. Can I read this out rushing your your appetite? Engineer Crushes Team Sport Play. You cannot Jordan Jordan and abroad and Kobe on the court at the same time out of your mind. You have all centers you have one forward you have you have guards and a bunch of centers. You got a problem with that because the modern game nobody in the known you already. Janis on Lebron an WHO's covering Jordan who's covering stats got covering step. I got clay and Andrea Diallo. Who in their day or two of the greatest lockdown defenders of the last twenty five years in the NBA? I got a clay and national or two of the pure as shooters and I have argued with the greatest defensive front court in the history of basketball. I Have Yoenis Hekim Akeem Patrick embiid. I mean I have wilt Bill Russell Shack. It's close by. Queen is not close if I had if I was restricted to white Americans. Then maybe may point so I do it as long ludicrous. It's ludicrous ludicrous. And you're right I'm wrong but so what is it that there are people took offense. How on Earth? What is they were like? NBA Storylines Down the Stretch

"Doris Burke is an NBA analyst for ESPN so doors the All star break is over and NBA. Games are back. We wanted to talk to you. About what surprised you so far this season. And how you see the last couple of months shaping up as we enter the homestretch before the playoffs. Let's start in the East right where there is an unequivocal number. One team in Milwaukee they have the best record in the NBA and they are destroying teams winning by an average margin of victory of more than twelve points per game now of the eleven teams that have had a double digit margin of victory over the course of a season. Eight have gone on to win it. All Doris. Is there something that stands between Milwaukee and the NBA Finals? Yeah this is a great question. So in their eight losses the one thread that is consistent throughout those are teams are averaging sixteen point nine threes and philosophically. Their priority is protect. The paint. First and foremost they are so elite. At that that we have not seen this kind of rim protection in the modern NBA. With the possible exception of Spurs team that had both Tim Duncan and David Robinson but the fact of the matter if a team gets hot and really can create shot opportunities then. I think that they can be beat. The other thing that happens is your and you saw in the All Star game. Jaanus is the first player to go twenty five and eleven back to back all star Games but he was over to note points in the fourth quarter because they did playoff teams. We'll do they set up a wall and they said somebody else is going to beat us so well. No one's really doubting the bucks at this point. I think there is still a lot of skepticism about the number two seed in the east the Toronto Raptors. I mean after losing finals. Mvp Kawhi Leonard. They were not seen as favorites coming into this year yet. They have the same record right now that they had at this point last season doors one hand the raptors have been under five hundred against winning teams but on the other they had a lot of. Are we underestimating them? While I'm definitely giving them punchers chance to get to the Eastern Conference finals and a punchers chance to come out in the past historically particularly when Demar Derozan Kyle lowry. Were on the team together. What we knew was they understood how to win in the regular season but they're always seemed to be this level of doubt in their minds when the calendar turn to April but the fact of the matter is. They changed that a year ago with championship. There is a different feel a different presents a different countenance about the entire group and yes unequivocally the record versus plus five hundred versus minus five hundred is concerning but let's remember that their top six guys including Serge Ibaka. Who's having the Best Year of his career? Kyle lowry Markelle Saul Fred Van Bleed. Norman Powell Pascal them. All six of those guys have missed at least ten games so I don't know that we have the clearest picture the other thing working in their favors they have one of the best coaches in the league. Nick nurse wears that head coaches mantle with ease. Why because he's been calling the shots for the vast majority of his career. In any number of circumstances his creative he's fearless. He's a little bit irreverent. And I'm telling you mean ah I give them a punchers chance to get to an east finals and a punchers chance to get out. Did you see this coming at all? Doors not even close and this is the question really ultimately. Do they have enough offense in what you're seeing is to me. What appears to be this grooming of Pascal? Ceac him of all right. You gotta go get your own in those minutes and a playoff circumstance where you don't care whether it's a mid range to a fall away jump shot a jump shot under duress of excellent defense. What matters is I need to put the ball in the basket right now because this game is teetering on our control or there's and we've got to have one and you're watching Pascal. Can he deliver in the postseason? He's been excellent in the regular season. I can't wait to see a play out. I think it feels right now. Like you've got the bucks in a tier of their own and then you've got the raptors celtics heat kind of swirling around each other. There was a feeling ahead of the trade deadline that the heat could vault to that number. Two spot perhaps even contend with the bucks if they really went all in and added Gala Nari. They didn't they did add Igwe Dolla. Do you think that's enough? You know the the last prism through which I saw. Andre Gonzala was a man who was battling an Achilles in the playoff series and seemed to be showing the signs of some age. But what I know. Unequivocally is this man from a basketball intellect standpoint. According to Kerr is one of the smartest in the history of the League. He has got championship. Dna He's got positional versatility on the defensive end that basketball intellect and the ability to process information quickly and to do it under the spotlight of the playoffs. He has all of that. I'm anxious to see how he changes the dynamic the Miami Heat. You know this. They're going to play hard defensively every single night. They're going to mix in one of the most effective zones we see in today's NBA and Eric's bolster is outstanding coach. So right now sitting in that fourth spot how far Jimmy Butler can take them. That'll be interesting. Those young guys. Right Duncan Robinson Tyler Hero Kendrick Nunn all those guys who have performed so well in the regular season when the calendar switches. Can you win with them? Let's see

NBA 2020 Predictions

"About My tween twenty bold predictions now. This isn't just for the regular season. This is for the off season. This is the beginning of next season to these addiction that I think that potentially could happen. I'm going to say them here today. And maybe you can agree with me some. You may think this crazy in some you might agree with. We'll have to see my first pro. Prediction is that both L. A.. Neither one of the LA teams will not make the Western Conference finals. I think a team will beat them or since the clippers. Don't take care too much about seeding in the Lakers. Stay the number one seed if the clippers land four or five. They'll play the clippers in the second row. They'll play Lakers around. which would men? 'cause obviously semifinals matchup US and other Western Conference finals match. But I also feel like there may be a team that could upset me maybe Houston is probably the most likely that could upset one of the LA teams and. I think that they're going to keep them from making the the the Western Conference finals. I know a lot of people were expecting that to happen. A lot of people are wanting to happen. I'm sure it will be great for the Lee but I really think that that's something in my opinion that I think is going to happen. That's one of my first. Bold predictions of the twenty twenty season in further on my eh prediction is that the Golden State Warriors will form another super team. Now I don't know if there's going to be with Jaanus. It could be a cry towns because Golden State is monitoring situation but Golden State clearly knows. Listen with the way the League is if we want to be on topic how can we need to get an update US another super team together and I think that they're definitely trying very hard to get another another star player in there now. I do like that. Probably means that's the end of Draymond Green. But I think that's what they're aiming for taming to get their aiming to get another star in there to see to come back with clay and to come back with Steph potentially really they can make you trade for star because they if they do get a top three lottery pig. deathly do not be surprised. If they try to make a trade with that pick honestly they honestly could have just picked up an amazing asset for them because they could use that as trade bait in. That's good trait rate. You know maybe the team star is disgruntled. Maybe you never know. I mean this isn't somebody would think about like the sons have another bad year. We'll we'll give you our top pick and another guy. And we want Devon Booker. Obviously Yona how that work I mean you know. They're kind of doing the right now. And the end of the Russell even yeah no. We Really Devon Booker may be a better player Neanderthal Russell. But that's definitely a prediction I think could potentially happen. I think that the warriors warriors will form another super team. But it's not going to be as top heavy instrument of Kevin Durant who like the second best player in the League. That's why think if they got Jaanus it would be stacked because of state Stephan Klay can play like they play and then they completely put a better supporting cast around. Then you could say okay. Yeah this team is going to be very tough to beat. Even laker teams have a team. They may be looking up to but it will have to see because if they get any towns houses. This is a great player but we don't view him as view when Kevin Durant was there which means even though it would be very top heavy west conference. But that's when also and my pro predictions one of my other pro predictions. Are I think that revenue from the C.. BA will increase which will lead to more players undeserving of big major contracts. Getting big major contracts. I'm going to say any names. But it's like okay. Well I'll say this because I don't know if he's GonNa get it but there are people who are sometimes wonder now dre walgreens supposed to be a free agent this offseason offseason Draymond Green. We know he's not a guy who's going to score points we can do live. And he's a great gadget player. I would say but some people wonder. Would somebody pay draymond green the Max would they give draymond green that Max deal. That is something they definitely wonder about and like a question. Like why would you give you Max. If if there's more money to be spent draymond green could potentially ask for Max and if you like laundry a month you might give them close to it. I mean we already have players now. who try to sign that? First Max deal then take a shorter deal. Just didn't end up getting of that. Ten Year supermax dill. But you know it's one of those those things where I think that this will lead to more players being signed overpaid and I mean you obviously can see more cat room. It can lead the teams being in very weird financial situations with cap every team six Performing up to expectation and then you played a lot of guys a lot of money who may have never actually deserve the money in the first place so. I think that that's going to be something that's going to be interesting another addiction I have is. I think that James Harden will make it to the NBA Finals Cheer. I know that's pretty big. That basically means you're saying he's GonNa beat one or both La Teams. I think James Harden. This would be the best year for him to do it. I think right now this I flew. This is his best year do it. So I'M GONNA go ahead mcnabb. Oh predicts names hard. It's GonNa make the finals. These the rockets are GonNa make the finals. This may be shocking to you. But that's how I feel. I feel like that. Jr potentially do it. I feel like if he was able to average at least thirty in the playoffs and Russell could give him about twenty twenty three. That's fifty three between the two players and they have some good supporting cast. You can't forget about. PJ Tucker can't forget about Erik. Gordon Clink Appel. You definitely feel like they have all the potential attention in the world so potentially be a top team and so I would not be surprised if they end up being the top team they think they can be and making it to the NBA NBA finals. This year in basically just creating just such a great agree moment for the city Houston also another prediction. I think Diane if he comes back as soon as they say he come back. We'll still win rookie of the year. I think Zaylon has all the talents. Be A star of Zion. Comes back in balls out in just twenty points a game in gives you a lot of highlight plays. I think he will be able to squeeze out winning rookie year only only playing half of the year again. That's a pretty bold prediction but as I've anybody can do a Zairean can all takes his cause. Remember even the Luca one owned by a lot last year. You trae young exciting second half which made it interesting and don't be. We don't feel like John Moran is doing with Luca Danni last year so it's not as far fetched is not as it's not like oh it's completely impossible for Luca played so well and then trae young play well in the New Year but he's still play. Okay well it's like John Mirant is playing. Maybe the best right now. But he's not playing at local level from last year so of Zion can have maybe a trae young like surge in the second half of the season. I think he'll go ahead and win the rookie year. But it all depends on when he gets back. 'cause I do if he didn't get back to maybe mid February with that he wouldn't. It's only two months left in the season. At that point. He has to probably get back to move in the next two weeks and then just start going on a tear from game one because dial is full practice recently so he's clearly about to get there. Obviously you've seen him take jumpers you've seen him dunk Donc so I definitely things I on can win the rookie year if he gets back in time and my last bowl prediction is that the Atlanta Hawks will add a star player. This off season. I don't know who but I feel. They're gonNA add some but I feel like some of the issues they've had I flipped. They're going to add a star. Because I feel like you need to especially to make trae WANNA stay there because rotations rumblings that he might and I wanna stay. That may be something that you may want to do. If Your Hawks Front office you need to add some talent in their yep some good young talent but you're going to you know how it is as league view in a win you're gonNA have to give up that good young talent for solidified star. Obviously I feel like trays untouchable. But maybe Kevin Heard. Or maybe you D Andre One hundred maybe a cam reddish maybe push them shelby John Collins and I think they're gonNA make a trade for a proven star in this league and we'll have to see whoever that star is how far the Atlanta Hawks may potentially get because of it but that's it for me thank you for listening listening to the GMC football basketball podcast on the GMC podcast network. Nick Wright on Kevin Durant throwing shade at LeBron, talks paying Dak Prescott and more

"Wanna go to Nick ride on this. Kevin Durant for the second time in two weeks has taken a shot at LeBron James called him toxic plan with LeBron's toxic. And then yesterday mentioned all these great players all time and put kyri in and not LeBron. So Nick, right. First things first, we the cower global satellite network. Let's talk about that. I mean, what what did you make Durand comment? I don't think they're a coincidence. Neck. I think he I think he is deeply bothered that he moved to Golden State won a bunch of titles and people still don't put them above. Lebron? That's my take. There is obviously indefinitely some insecurity factor. As far as what more do you want me to do? I I wanted to finals I won the finals with jump shot a jump shot over LeBron. I won the finals the next year with a jump shot in the exact same place. But as you just said, just objectively speaking, he's not better people who know basketball. No, he's not better. But I also think listening saying Kobe's one of the two greatest players of all time isn't absurdity Kobi's as great as he was not one of the two best players of his era. That's LeBron and Dunkin, but that's neither here nor there but about a year ago. Kevin Durant on one of his many podcasts. Bill Simmons talked about the different way that he and LeBron go about their off-season preparation, and he said something I thought was really telling he said LeBron works on his body. I work on my game. As if he didn't see that. Lebron? Was working on his body in order to prolong how long he can play the game. Because the guys seem mentioned are guys that I understand like whether it's footwork worrying Kyrie's case raw dribbling skill or touch on a jump shot. They all might have something on LeBron will the bronze got on. Everybody is the body. He's put together which has allowed him to not only get to the rim. But to be on injured. I don't think that's something from a basketball perspective Durant, fully respects. Yeah. Because it is obviously the opposite of what he has Durant has made the most anyone could ever make with a muscle massive around what I have which is remarkable feat. But it is not comparable to what we see for most other NBA stars. By the way, there's a rumor today colline Kevin Durant to the clippers again, I'll believe Durant's gonna leave. I don't think he has the guts to leave Golden State because he would get crushed. And if he goes to LA and LeBron gets Anthony Davis and he's on the second best team in LA. It's a bad look for him. I don't buy this move. Do you buy it? Are. So I do think I disagree with you. I think Kevin Durant is going to leave. I think he not only has the guts sleeve. I think leaving could it be the only thing to enhance his standing in the league. But the only thing if he leaves he I believe he can't do or would be crazy to do is injuring to another situation where we don't know who the best player is that. So that means he he's already in one of only a handful of situations. He could be in. We're at teammate is arguably better in Steph. So we can't go to the Lakers. And that also means he can't team up with Kawai Jaanus, Anthony Davis LeBron. That's it. So if if it's about winning championships, obviously should stay in Golden State.
