"21 47 FM. W wait. JJ Providence and I Heart radio station. Gulf Coast. Bracing for flooding on Jack Kelehan Fox News as a tropical weather system turns northward likely to impact Louisiana and Alabama late tonight. The expectation is this weather event will be focused on rain not so much on the wind, although 35 to 40 mile an hour wind When you have saturated ground can easily uproot trees and so forth, so that hazard is still there. And so Louisiana's governor John Bel Edwards, has declared a state of emergency. That storm could also spawned tornadoes today as Far East as the Alabama Florida border. The Heat wave continues in the West, raising concerns about the power grid Governor Gavin Newsom signed an emergency proclamation to free up additional energy capacity. California does rely heavily on solar power, but that drops off when the sun goes down. Also, this state does import power. But getting extra power from other places could be tough right now, because so many states are going through this heat wave like in Texas, where the state is facing another power squeeze boxes, Christina Coleman, It was 118 degrees in Phoenix yesterday, not clear yet if that might have been a factor in a series of eight drive by shootings. Left one person dead. Three others wounded, Apparently all by the same gunman. We don't know what the motive was. We don't have an idea of what? Um, this person was thinking when he went and did this, Sergeant Brandon Sheppard of the Peoria, Arizona Police Department says they have arrested the suspected shooter. But in Detroit, the search continues for the gunman who fired into a pickup truck. And I 75 last night striking two Children. Unfortunately one I'm understanding. One is this Mrs sees a two year old. And a nine year old one is fighting now, Uh, the older child, a nine year old here, interim Detroit police chief.

"Coach right. I mean no lie. There is a quote with on the record talk about your dramas design. Get to pick is my god. I guess who the hell was out. That sounds like i mean our stories. That seems like it was more. Mutual families. tired of watching brandon came out. Ziad doesn't like him brandon. Ingram does i. Can't nobody likes i mean again with the pelicans it's the same thing though david griffin has to get this right. He's gotta get it right. The fact is that someday there will be a player who signs the qualifying offer it. Because they want test unrestricted free agency the following year instead of signing rookie max extension. That will happen someday. I don't know who it will be. Zion williamson will have a seventeen point five million dollar qualifying offer a couple of years. I wonder if though it's going to happen faster. Like it did with the porzingis thing where he didn't get to the point where it was extension time before he got to that point. He's him. I resigned the nearest. You might as well get something for me in. That might be the formula like it might be it but somebody will get traded like if he did yet and then we're going to see and happen someday. I mean people will ever says it believes it's going to happen. She's so matter of who. Absolutely the circumstances need to be really unique for that two years. I thing this is. They confuse weekend. Maybe you could tell me about this. On june seventeenth either held june seventeenth stay are synchrony. Whatever what yeah. Why why did it think. Until june sixteenth to figure out that brandon ingram zion. Don't like the guy left i. It's just weird. Odd time. Like i said i think a lot of it was because it was mutual. Maybe stan van gundy needed time to think about a too before they decided to do it. Like a good like legitimately the stuff from that think about whether or not he wanted to be fired i mean what do they call it. The call to part ways then they call it all come through no but it was like it. Hot out there about him. Not being happy living in new orleans. That's been out there since the season love new orleans and that he was happier doing what he's doing well maybe how much money of this contract. You could be that to buy out. Go to the and racially away. He's thirty five million. Do we gotta pay. You can't coach two year. We're not paying the other thirty zero. Hey i'll tell you whether it was a mutual decision or not. it's going to be mutually beneficial for the pelicans. Here just didn't work. 'cause i on brandon. Ingram guys didn't connect with him and with van gundy. Hey can do some media. Maybe like he'll be happier right. I hopefully. he's you know if that's true. That family and i love living there. That matters most so for for the team though. What type of coach are we looking forward like to build around like. What type of system do you want to see. Their coach bring like who regardless of the name like. How do you wanna coach to plays ion will i that needs to be part of the i. I we got a personnel thing and to me that's griffin. Yes to me. I would look at it. I read all those quotes. And i read those stories right and i don't know if you noticed this but both die on and ingram love lonso and went out of their way to speak about wanting him so if i if i look at it and i said now i got lonzo. I'm trying to flank those guys with outstanding defenders. That can also play some offense. And i'm flying i'm flying. I'm getting these guys out in space. Because the if lonzo they both love him and they think ingram said i think he's a generational talent and passing the ball right and so if those guys had that kind of a relationship to where they're willing they're they're going out that hardcore for the guy i didn't realize they were all as close as it appears they are but with lonzo. I would look at it. And i would say all right. I've got lonzo got ingram. I've got zay on now. How do i. How do i get the most out of these and men. If you can get those guys out in space i would have those three and i would flank them with some guys that play defense and shoop. And that's that's it no lie. No lie i played the guys that can play defense and shoot and i would also three guys around more so than anything. I would get them a coach that can connect with them. They ray just did at responded. This guy didn't the old the old school mentality didn't work. No no so. I mean you don't have to go the complete opposite way of that but at this point like i do think it would be welcome to have somebody in there. That would you know what i mean. Like drill sergeant. These guys you know And somebody that can you know. Look i've i've talked. I know that buds not a big one right now for anybody but darvin ham has been there on bud staff for a long time. He's come up for names. I hate to get it. See him get caught up in this. You know with bud stuff if everybody gets down on him because those guys that have been under. Whether it's i tell you who would be. It would come to mind if you're not gonna keep somebody there. Because they're you know they've got a comfort level because directories weatherspoon's names come up Another guy from the staff right. His name came up for vincent. Also charles lee from the bucks to you know who. I think it'd be good there. Is acton interesting. Because i would look at it a little. Like how they got that brooklyn thing going with the laverne russell and all that right they. He created a culture there where that team would really ended up liking each other and that was a young team that developed right. And i think you do need somebody. That has some level of experience of developing a young team. You know because that's what that is you know. It's actually think you'd be pretty good choice there. I thought he took the job in brooklyn. How about this thought right here. with nate mcmillan. He is the term coach. Doesn't have a head coaching contract for next season yet. I wonder you know like we talk about free agencies and for players. The david mellon have a free agent season for but could could. Could somebody drop the bag. And oh bid atlanta by a lot. No it. has he done enough for that defense. Is they dropping a back. Their locker room socks to your martin. They're not driving up. I'm just i'm just especially griffin. I'm not talking about the pelicans area. I'm talking about anybody. Somebody dropped a bag over name. Mcmillan feasible feasible. The interest going to i think atlanta will and should can't you could somebody else be like we'll give you a fifty percent more davis more so nathan. Forget about.

"To be what it's going to be a long time. I mean they got out first round this year but it was. It gets grizzlies. But i mean years. They've been getting past the first round speaking of carlisle up. We're gonna get to. Let's cover the chris. Paul real quick. I because that's whoever the utah clips winter's gonna feed into really no update on that today. If you heard anything. I believe somebody reported earlier might have been shams or woge jr. Who said there is optimism that if anything he might miss one game depending on the timing so i i don't know we'll find out more but that was stated earlier today all right then. That's a lot better than the he's in jeopardy of the western conference finals say he's in jeopardy of missing game one. It's like okay. It's not that big of a deal right. You gotta win four. So it'd be thinking they could lose a first game with or without first of all it's not he gets evil for what it's worth. That was from woge. Okay earlier on thursday okay. Good well because that was a that was a just one of those stories that the soon as you see come across the ticker you're like. Oh my god. This innate bit do now might have been his own fault ready to put himself in a position. Whatever to to not be adhering to whatever the protocols are at this given moment But he has been in so many situations where he's been right there with the chance to achieve destiny edited have have it be ripped away for one reason or the other and this one might a bit. Certainly this is different than injury shore but it would have been just horrendous to not get to see him in the western conference finals. I hope he. I hope he's able to get back and did say in that same report it would be potentially no games mists if clippers jazz goes to a game seven that was from world so it's very possible. We do see a chris. Paul and a game one. We have so much coaching news. All right. let's let's do the carlisle. Think i right so carlisle. This was an odd way to do it. Because he didn't wait for the. He didn't wait for the mavs to like put out some kind of release. He sent iphone notes quote to adrian. Thank you everybody for thirteen years in the labs dallas and blah blah blah blah blah. Now this is all coming off these cup. These few articles from the athletic that had been written by tim. Kato and i believe sam amick helped him with a I started with like this really well. The inner turmoil of the dallas mavericks and heraldic. Bob vulgarity hired there in their analytics department. It really came off as kind of hippies here like whoever whoever were the sources on there. We're not huge fans of by any beads because there wasn't exactly any kind of but here's the good side right. It was all like okay. Here's the problem. Here's this stats guy. The the owners now. He's got the owners ear now. He's kind of involved stop. It's muddling stuff. Up the front office and donnie nelson and the like the dow. That feels like a okay. Here's a here's this article that comes out detailing all this to me just from the outside. I don't know anything about the situation. I would just say from my experience that felt to me like either. These guys have gone to mark cuban and issued their complaints about this. They don't like you know the way this has gone with this guy and mark cuban's told them. Yeah whatever like guy and get on with it. You know like what you're really you're being sensitive or whatever else we're just trying to be the best. We could be what they don't feel listened to or they're scared to talk to the owner about it so they give the story to the media and then now it's got to be dealt with which market tried to deal with by going publicly and saying this is bullshit which obviously it's not don nelson's gone then we're carlisle's gone later and now these guys are all gone. And who knows what happens with bob bulgaria's if whether he'll be remain with the team or not but gregory reporting on this and one of the fascinating ones on the on the whole re up today and this is before the car allow stuff i believe. But there was the story about the donnie nelson and the front office cuban blowing. All these guys out there was part of it that talked about how despite what cuban says or whatever that there are other guys within the league that sit there and they go i. I don't know who's running the show. I don't know who's who i need to be talking to. And i've been through this with. The team are covered. Look i covered the witch brooks situation. That's how that kind of stuff happens right and obviously the next year chris. Wallace wasn't in memphis. Ernie grunfeld wasn't in washington. All those people that were involved in that night for the most part a lot of them are not with their teams. Eddie bore and you know you probably got. There was always the weird arranged marriage with chris wallace and john hollinger and they brought in assistant. Gm and it just leads to all this confusion sometimes and now different guys are talking to different guys. And you're trying to get this deal done and things get lost in the shuffle. And whatever and so. I can see that that this you know who's got the power who's the one that's got the owners ear you really have to you. Have to scrap. That and get organizational alignment. And you've seen the memphis. Runoff has been praised in a great deal for their draft picks and everything else because they just scrapped it and they decided all right zach. Climate is the guy that's the end of that right. He has these guys that work with him. That are side by side with eb but anything that is dealing basketball. That's who you talk to. That's the guy. He's the one making the decisions that's the end of that in those are the best organization. That'd be path mark cuban. This can't happen with these articles. Because i really feel like if it worked for these articles nothing would have happened. I'm not kidding. Because this guy's now like a regular old owner shark tank skies like legit like famous. I wouldn't say this would have happened without the arm. Maybe so but a guy like this has been brewing like like. It's legitimately been brewing for award at all i'm saying is even if it hadn't a guy like that. He doesn't want the perception other that he run his own habits. That's true to me like this looks like. I don't know how to run my own house. These guys are out there. Tell stories on each other. I don't have my own house. I.
Fresh "JJ" from Coast to Coast AM with George Noory
"JJ Providence and I Heart radio station. Urging for a killer when Jack Kelehan Fox News, an apparent road rage incident in Detroit late last night, has left a two year old shot and killed a nine year old, seriously wounded. Police have a description of the car from which the shots were fired. The city's interim police chief, James White, asking for the public's help to find the shooter can help get this monster off the street. 13 people heard at least one dead in a series of drive by shootings in two suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona last evening. Police called this a shooting spree and they're now trying to piece Together these apparent random drive by shootings. All of those people, they're not necessarily gunshot victims. Police described them as possibly shrapnel or car accidents. The same white SUV was seen at multiple scenes, and police said that the adult male driving that SUV was taken into custody without incident. Fresh update on "jj" discussed on The JJ Redick Podcast
"Can't we can't do the big thing. We can't go small. You're saying so. They bear as much as what you suggest. That's right i mean and they just say man. We're going to go five wide to because we can't match up the other while. You're already shorthanded though like you're already playing basically six guys plus like a mixture of neang a little bit of favors for five six minutes here and there. I like unless calmly can come back. I don't think you can. I don't think you can evil this on this has gotten things flipped on them though cliff. I mean they're they're one series win. These last several years was against the grizzlies who got in as a playing team. You know if they lose this series it is going to say something when you look back and you go all right. This is great during the regular season but when teams can match up and they can really play small against us. Is this sustainable Win four out of seven games against a really good team because you saw it last year. Where jamal murray just went absolutely nuts though and if you watch back even if you watch back that fifty point game yokich in high screens for murray he comes around. You know go bears not gonna come all the way out and murray's just having a field day and he's averaged a million points. So is this something when you don't when you're all if you're only series win playing this way is against a grizzlies team. Who was the youngest team to make the playoffs in ten years. I mean it is something you've got to think about right like is this. Is this a recipe that when somebody prepares for us or can you alter this and just say it's not like this is what it is when you've got go bear and he's going to be a massive advantage but there's in the time that he's not and he very clearly is not an advantage for them right now on offense and their plan but doom forty two minutes. Yeah gotten up to play forty two minutes in a playoff game by show. I know that's what was a couple of years ago. My answer is twenty seven million dollars a nobody wants any any stinks. He'd be stevie played forty plus minutes. Do you make them. What's the conference. Do you know there was a guy with charlotte. I would the traveling party and was talking to be. I'm not gonna sell anybody out. It was talking to be having a conversation before the game. This is whatever it was probably three or four years ago. And he says to me he goes. You think you think they do tomb for parsons. And i was like bro. I was like you like jailer parties. Like he can't he can't play i and he goes. I don't think you understand. And he's like we would do that. Heartbeat and i was like what am i. That's how because like that. Boom contract was thought of as just this this this anchor around their neck right like the same way and the f. thought was his goes a year longer. That's what the guy told me. He goes his goes out another year. That's why they do that deal. And i'm like this is insane. You just talking about trading two guys that signed the worst contracts ever for each other like maybe maybe these guys that could be traded for each other. But that's where that's where. It was with nick but to like seriously like a. He's a superb rural place. Forty two minute player in the playoffs unreal on a team that one game away from a western conference finals appearance crazy and he's played center. Everything about it is crazy. I gotta reggie. Jackson sat for you. Chris living here so this season out of players that have used an isolation on offense one hundred times including the regular season and the playoffs. Reggie jackson ranks first inefficiency scoring one point. Two points per chance. So the clippers score one point. Two points per chance with when reggie jackson isolates. Second-place is kevin durant third-places steph curry fourth plays damian lower. James harden kyrie irving zion. Williamson zach levine. These are the players that reggie jackson ranks murder lobby murder himself. I always ask for like ten years. I had a higher opinion of reggie jackson. That i ever should have it. It's so funny. It's coming back around. Because when he was on his rookie contract. There is a playoff game. That i was at where it kevin durant did virtually nothing russell. Westbrook did virtually nothing. And reggie jackson scored like thirty three or thirty four points on the road in a playoff game and just like i mean i watched it and i think it was game. Four of a series. I mean probably flipped the series. And i just watch the game. Where it was reggie jackson at russell westbrook at kevin durant and the other to do that much. This guy just looked like the biggest superstar floor and so from that point on. I always kind of had a higher opinion of reggie jackson. 'cause i witnessed have this just no one can stop me playoff game. And obviously his career did not have the trajectory of a guy that does that and he was in witness protection in detroit for some amount of time but the numbers of the numbers. Give better. Better score than kevin. I sample jackson one hundred ninety in a log. Six hundred fifteen. Just put those extremes into into perspective but hey like he has looks really good in that role though in the postseason yes off nights. But when he's on he's able to hit some of those tough contest jumpers. He's improved so much. The last two years as a shooter used to be a bad shooter. He is now a good shooter legitimately and he also had a lot of talented teammates around him to pass the ball to he would often be sharing the forward. Paul george or kawhi. Leonard shot off for him as well getting better over the years. We'll look it so odd the way. This thing is flipped in that particular series. Because if they. I told you at the very beginning. I thought they're going to need conley in order to win this thing. You know at some point. You gotta just stop holding onto hope that you're gonna get commonly and especially it's been instructive to watch harden who is giving it a go before he's ready to give it a go and you see you get this very watered down version and so you're not going to get the full. My hardened does help. yes no he does. Help bring the ball up the floor. He's been solid defense. Certain situation at this point. Fair's fair if i say i lose conley you lose why you take that deal on out of one hundred and so it is what it is like. This is a lot like the bucks thing you got to win like the same with the jazz. If they're not gonna have kawhi leonard. You can't lose this. You can't lose. You cannot lose this. If they don't have a letter like you've got to go in there wing game six and then you got to go back home and you got to win game seven or else. This is just a disappointment of just epic epic proportions. Seriously you give me losing all georgia reggie jackson clippers. That is disgrace. You know and quit would happen to watch out. Yes quick quincy good coach man. So is rick carlisle kevin. I mean so inch. He had been out of the first round the ten years. I mean in quin..

Call of Duty League and Overwatch League Will Allow Liquor Sponsors
"Of duty. League and overwatch. league loosened sponsorship restrictions will allow betting and liquor sponsors now. I don't remember if the article mentions this but activision blizzard especially has been very careful about the sponsors. They bring into both franchise leagues up until now they had rejected anything. That was even remotely like twenty one plus and so This is a big course change for them. And i'm curious what you guys think in terms of the why and what do you think the implications might be here. Okay so i actually I had you guys a different uncle this week. And i'm not sure if you've got a chance to read it. But essentially the article was about how sponsors were pulling back over the sponsorships and looking at streamers instead So let me look up the actual article. But i thought that and i knew you guys working. Read it because it's called gaming influencers future. These aren't there was actual stories in here Houston outlaws player. Who actually quit. Went to tweeden like needlework. Money that of the united talent agency said streaming the way for companies to make money off of e sports athletes There is a looking now How are you tying this back to different. Yeah no i'm saying that like you're seeing streamers and other people's specifically leaving overwatch lee to go seek other making opportunities so adding in sponsorships or things like liquor and betting that might actually be attractive to younger audience or way to engaging gradients seems like owning these sponsors will bring a younger audience to their franchise. Yup yeah
Nurse Leadership and Innovation with Lynda Benton and Rhonda Manns
"Talk about how your organizations are adding value to the healthcare ecosystem. And maybe this is one that that you kick us off with. Linda sure will be for covert. Obviously you know. The world looked a little bit different. But i think there's a lot of things we learned in the pre covid world and of course what we learned in the past year certainly the. Us health system as a whole is greatly strained. There's greater patient demands resource demand systematic demands. You know impacting and of course all of that got worsened by the pandemic. I think it staring to say. I think we we also saw a really clear picture of this. At how nurses are really on the front line leading every day and healthcare and what the listeners may not know that nursing is actually the largest and the most trusted segment of the healthcare. That's nineteen years running in the gallup poll. So what we found in our research saw that despite all of the background and the experience that nurses bring to healthcare the resources in this innovative thinking how they put patient you know needs i. What we have found is that the impact of nurses is often underestimated and their expertise is underutilized and healthcare and the company. We think it's high time to change that because we really believe that to move healthcare forward and really make the transformative changes that we need to make. We know we need to make. We need nurses to play hero. Not so we're jj estate where we really are focused on elevating and advocating and empowering nurses to really drive that healthcare change that we know so desperately needed today. A couple of examples of what we're doing for example is really how we're working to support nurses and helping to improve and hone and strengthen their innovation muscles that we know are innately part of the nursing mindset. And that's where we do things like nurse hack for health hackathon and the quickfire challenge series as well as another podcast that we lead with the way quasi now but it's all about really helping to lead healthcare transformation and getting ready to do that. Well those are some some fantastic initiatives and it sounds like it's deeply embedded in the dna of the organization of j. and j. this belief that nurses are making a huge difference and we need to recognize and utilize their talents. More absolutely to your point and we did say that nursing is part of our dna because we really believe that to really drive the change. We need to drive. Nurses are gonna play a critical role. There's four million nurses in the us fall and about one ninth position and the nurses work in every corner of from unity so they have a huge impact in terms of how healthcare is delivered
Millions of Americans Are Missing Their Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine
"The johnson and johnson co vaccine became more widely available today but there are many people willing to take it and across the country growing signs of hesitancy to take any vaccine at all in some areas that means fewer people are signing up for a shot where there is plenty of supply contrast all that with the increasing cova crisis in india where they desperately need more treatments and vaccines the world health organization now calling on countries with excess to send it there. We'll have a report from overseas in just a moment. But we begin with sam brock in miami on florida's first full day of johnson johnson reentering the vaccine marketplace many took a pass. It's only fifteen cases out of more than eight eight million people who got the shot so it's very minimum so our felt safe split sentiment as health officials go on a full court press to assure the public. The vaccine is effective an extremely low risk. We clearly have a situation where the benefits greatly outweigh. Leading European Football Clubs Announce New Super League Competition
"Fabric of european football is being ripped asunder torn to pieces. You in the podcast with. Oh yes it's just what we say right. It's what we say. But the end is nigh andrew. The end is the game as we know it will never be the same again. Yeah i think that was kind of a feeling when this news was initially released this afternoon in case you hadn't realized what we're talking about yet. It was announced today that a european super league is not just in the works but now appears to almost be an established fact and a certainty and twelve. Massive clubs from around europe have pledged their allegiance to this league with three more to follow and then five more. I suppose for lack of a better term to be invited after that. Getting the number up to twenty the ramifications of this are obviously immense and massive and tectonic in terms of what this sport is as we know it and that is why we are here tonight to talk more about this because i think as i was saying. Jj people saw the news. And i think there was almost this like grace period of you know fifteen minutes half an hour an hour where the we've known this sport to kind of be one thing you know it changes you know it was there. There was a european cup. Then it becomes the champions league first division than the premier league it changes in certain small ways but by and large these were not necessarily tectonic shifts to the sport as we know it and i think for people to wrap their minds around that reality occurring today. I think it took some time for that to settle in. But i think now here we are several hours later after the announcement and i think people are now beginning to understand just how groundbreaking this news truly is.

The FDA Asks States to Hold Back on the Use Of the Johnson and Johnson Coronavirus Vaccine
"The food and drug administration is asking state to temporarily halt using. Jj's covid nineteen vaccine after six people in the united states developed a rare blood clotting disorder the fda said according here. This is out of an abundance of caution and when you look at the numbers it really does seem like. It's out of an abundance of caution. I'm not questioning the move. But look we're we're a show about business and stocks and when you look at shares of johnson and johnson down one percent two percent it. It seems like at least in this moment keeping in mind. There's more information still to come to light in this moment. This doesn't seem like a huge concern for the business of johnson and johnson.
Beyond Pandemic’s Upheaval, a Racial Wealth Gap Endures
"It's a 10 corporations across the country say they're making big investments in diversity, equity and inclusion. But are they really Bank of America launched a $1 Billion.4 Year campaign in 2020 on this week's edition of of Colors, a dialogue on race in America, with Chris Korn and JJ Green, Ebony Thomas, the racial Equity and economic Opportunity Initiatives executive at Bank of America, explained what it's all about on the podcast. We made this commitment back in June of 2020. And I think this commitment really enforces the connection we have to our community the importance of this in our community and what we know for generations is that Simen Systemic racism has created a racial wealth gap in America, and one of the elements of this billion dollar, commitment or billion dollar plus commitment is it's just support those communities of color and to close that help support to close that. Racial wealth gap. Today. White family has eight times the wealth of black families and five times out of Hispanic Latino families. And so we want to make sure that we are doing work in the space around entrepreneurship and innovation, housing, small business and quite honestly health to be able to support and close that wealth gap. If there were no pandemic, would we still be doing something like this? I think that the pandemic has definitely laid bare for us. The equities that we see particularly Communities of color around health. And so you know, I think this is a place that we we've had some work in that we've done some some elements of health. But the way that we've doubled down in health is really definitely connected to our response and wanting to support these
Redick: Pels, Griffin didn't honor word with trade
"Jj redick longtime veteran fifteen years in the leak. Good player not great good. Though he requested a trade from new orleans pelicans in november and asked them to send them somewhere one he was up. You know not upset but hey drew's gone through holiday. That was a big part of why i came here. And you know. I would like to be close to my family in brooklyn close enough where i can go see him on off days things like that. They told him. Bet you got it. And of course they trade him to dallas so he's upset because he says they didn't keep their word. Here's jj reading on his own podcast. My understanding all along was that. I was going to get a buy out. And if i was going to be traded it was going to be to a team in the northeast where i was closer to home and i'd be able to see my family for the last two or three months of the season obvious that didn't happen. I don't think you're gonna get honesty from that front office. Just objectively speaking. I don't that's not an opinion. i just don't think you're going to get that. But i think i was a little naive in thinking that because i was in year fifteen and you know i had at least attempt to do things right throughout my career and i honored my end of the bargain but in terms of this front office. Yeah i mean. It's it's not something where i would expect. Certainly the agents that that worked on this with me to ever to ever trust that front office again.
California will expand vaccine eligibility to all adults April 15
"I'm Cliff Albert. Ah, lot more people in California will soon be able to vaccinated. The news came late this week from the governor and Coco's Jack Cronin has more, governor Gavin Newsom says next week, April 1st, those 50 and older will be eligible. And then in three weeks on April 15th Everyone 16 and older will be able to get a shot. We can conservatively administer three million doses a week by the end of next month, will be able to administer four million doses a week with the expectation that more supply will be made available. More JJ supply one shot but also more supplies relates to modern advisor. That expectation has set up a framework where today we are announcing that we're modifying in a stair step manner are eligibility. And that's when the governor made his announcement on April 1st in the state of California. Anyone 50 and over will be able to get a vaccine in our state. So next Thursday, anyone 50 and over will be provided the opportunity to get the vaccine on April 15th. Everybody in the state of California 16 and
Facebook Moves Against ‘Evil Eye’ Hackers Targeting Uyghurs
"Down hackers inside China who are targeting supporters of weaker Muslims, a group called evil. I used Facebook to distribute malware and hack accounts belonging to activists, journalists and dissidents, predominantly among leaders from things Yang, China. Facebook says their targets primarily live in the U. S. Turkey, Kazakhstan, Syria, Australia and Canada. What they were doing was posing as activists and journalists and used social engineering and other tactics to persuade people to click on bogus links, thus losing control of their devices. Why pick on the weak ear's? The Chinese government is being heavily criticized. For human rights violations of weaker populations. JJ Green w

North Korea’s Message to Biden: ‘Refrain From Causing a Stink’
"And they coincide with a visit to the region by two members of the president's Cabinet. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin arrived in Japan today and then they'll travel to South Korea tomorrow. It's the first overseas trip for any member of Mr Biden's Cabinet. Joining us now for deeper look. Double d T o p. National security correspondent J. J. Green JJ. What did North Korea same? For the first time in decades, vaccines are having a moment
"Healthcare reporter at The Wall Street Journal. X for joining us, Peter Thanks for having me on Lot is being made right now about the vaccines were obviously going through the rollout. Things are ramping up. But, you know, I really have found very fascinating. The story of how these vaccines have come to be in the new technologies that were using. Obviously, the Fizer and Moderna vaccines are using this M or in a technology. We've never had a vaccine that has been approved before. And Johnson and Johnson, the new one that just got approved. They also are using new technology. There's is a little different. It's called viral vector technology. You know, these brand new things are showing a lot of promise and big hopes for Writing, you know, infections in the future, other pandemics, just other diseases. There's a lot of potential with all of these. So, Peter, tell us a little bit about your reporting on this. You know, Vaccines have been around for a couple 100 years, and for most of that time they used sort of tried and true method of making them and a lot of cases. That meant Taking part of the virus of the pathogen that you want to try to protect against. And using it in the vaccine itself to deliver that into the body to induce an immune response. And so those air still in use, But there have been efforts over the past few decades. Find new ways to make vaccines and the pandemic has really brought that out in the sense that, you know, even though some of these technologies were years in the making this pandemic has sort of been there moment to actually deliver, if not for the very first time, then In the biggest way possible for that. Vaccine technology and so As you mentioned the first couple vaccines used this messenger RNA technology and this Johnson and Johnson, one uses a viral vector technology and they're both Newer ways of making vaccines, and they both involved. Essentially delivering the genetic code and genetic instructions that tell the body to do certain things to induce the an immune response rather than deliver. The actual virus into the body that you're trying to fight against. We've talked about the M R D vaccines for a bit now only because they were approved first from Fizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, as I mentioned recently approved They're using this viral vector technology. Tell us a little bit more about that. It's different from the old ways as you were describing, but they still use a virus that they kind of readjust to help do this. So how does the viral vector stuff work? There. That's a good point, because I don't want to mislead people to think that there's no viral material in these viral vector event vaccines, But the difference is that you're using a virus that has Essentially nothing to do with the disease You're trying to combat and the general concept for these viral vector vaccines is to take one harmless virus and to use it against more deadly virus. And so in the case of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine A couple others. They're out there for cove is like the one from AstraZeneca and University of Oxford is to take something called it in a dental virus, which is Relatively harmless virus that can cause common colds or conjunctivitis. And to tweak it in such a way so that if it's injected into your body, it's not going to cause disease is not going to cause the coldest fellow certainly not going to cause coverted. It serves as sort of a carrier, and it's modified in a way so that it actually then carries Edna that tells the body's cells. Make this spike protein that found on the surface of the coronavirus finding that right virus of such an interesting part of this story, Johnson and Johnson decided they were going to go this route. Viral vector technology, and they had to be on the hunt or the right virus because there was also concerns. You know you're using viral material. What if you build up an immunity to that specific virus, then could you build up an immunity to the vaccine itself? So they were on the hunt for a very specific one to use as well. That question of whether this viral vector or this sort of carrier that makes up the vaccine is going toe compose an issue and so in the past there have been in is where that's been a problem. And I think it's not been entirely solved. And so in the past, the problem was that when they tried using one of these dental viruses to be the sort of carrier in the vaccine in people who had pre existing immunity to that identify Iris that this common cold virus it's sort of interfered with The effectiveness of the vaccine against various diseases. And so what Johnson and Johnson had to do was sort of figure out. Okay, Well, we need to pick the right carrier that the right dental virus and you know, ideally one that is just not that common out in the world so that not as many people have pre existing immunity to it. But even the people who do have preexisting immunity to it. Maybe it's not going to be such a strong immune response against the carrier that would interfere with the underlying vaccine is trying to do Tell me a little bit more about Johnson and Johnson and the company. You know how they got into this because my understanding I'm obviously we know Johnson and Johnson for a myriad of products, but they're fairly new to the vaccine game. And they didn't achieve a little bit of success with an Ebola vaccine using this viral vector technology also, so you know how did that work out for them? And then obviously they transition into working on the covert virus. He's got the world well known brands that you alluded to band aid baby powder, and they've long had a very strong prescription drug business. So drugs like Remedy Cade that that treat people who are already sick and then there are major player but they've not been a major player in vaccines. And so about 10 years ago, they decided they wanted to get into vaccines. More so they bought this Such a biotechnology company called Crew Cell, and that's really where this viral vector technology came from that JJ is using, and so they kind of spent. Several years just designing vaccines against various infectious diseases and then running them through the regular series of tests, So this would be things like Ebola. Enrica. Then they were able to start testing they rebel a vaccine using this sector technology in Africa after I think first after that, the really big outbreak in West Africa five or six years ago and then more recently In the Congo, where there was another outbreak, and so they went through the whole series of studies for that vaccine, and then eventually got European Commission approval for it in the middle of last year. So now they do have this sort of platform that Could work not only against over 19 but also against Ebola's and then potentially additional infectious diseases the night in fact, they even have the vaccine and development for HIV, which is sort of been this Notoriously difficult virus to target in the form of a vaccine. I mean, it's so interesting how far we've come. How much we've learned about the human body so much so that you know we're hacking the genetic software. You know of the body to produce these things. You know all these insights into the immune system that we've gained have led us to this stuff. So what's the promise for these things Like, you know, what can we expect? I know they're working on Vaccines for other diseases. Gene therapies, There's a lot of promise with us Yeah, And it's in a way. It's sort of the convergence of a couple different strains that have been going on in pharmaceutical research and academic research. And that is The genetic revolution on the one hand, but also immunology, and that's immunology is kind of feeding into both. Vaccines to prevent disease but also ah, whole new class of drugs to treat disease by in some way affecting the immune system. And so I mean, there are people that Infectious disease experts who say that this is really the golden Age of vaccine ology that these advances kind of signal that and think that it really shows that there's promised to really target a lot of Other infectious diseases. And in the case of Ah, big emerging outbreak like we've seen To do it in a way that is really quick and can actually Have in effect in actually stemming of pandemic. While it's under way, you know, rather than just developed paintings and the normal timeline of many years that the pharmaceutical industry is used to Yeah, And in the

"With like it's like the singular focus sometimes like an interview like to be asked about Duke. And that's still like a little weird to me. It's a different era. I just a lifetime ago. I think it's weird too especially because you've had this. Nba Career where you literally have made the playoffs every year so if you would play in the NBA for like two years and kind of didn't work out. For whatever reason I would it would make sense but does this a lot of there's a lot to talk about. Nba Wise and so it seems like it's a weird crutch that people fall back on but it also shows you the power and like the fame the fame from college. People still remember it. That's the that's the power of Duke and the power of Coach K. Because like even going back to like the animosity you know in the the hate. That was coming my way like if I was some shit had at Wisconsin or in some packed wells school. I don't think it would have been on the same level. I don't think if you're a Florida the exact same career Florida. You would not have even close to the same level of now. Do College Basketball Coach K. It's all very synonymous with each other. So it's like that's the identifier. Because I was there and I was a bit of a lightning Rod. It is weird though because like take for example. You guys are similar ages. Joe Keam had Super Successful College. Career won two championships was certainly a lightning. Rod was when he was in college but nobody ever talks to him about. Yeah needed a great. Mba too but like no one. It's just not a thing that irritates juice chips. You don't even think about right. It's not the first thing I would bring up with Joe Ken. Yeah maybe maybe if I had Joel Joel Love. We joke about the by like I would. I don't even know that. Bring up. Florida Horford the same way. I wish there was a question I don't. This is the thing that I struggle sometimes is trying to explain to the average fan just how good in NBA players because now relative relativity matters. Worse like you know the thirteenth or Fourteenth Guy. Compared to superstar sure with superstars. You know better right not to say the thirteenth or fourteenth guys sucks or fit geyer the seventh guy or the second guy. It doesn't make sense but then I think to myself well. There's a lot of people that like hate on the Bra. You know it's like. Can you really hate them abroad like you can hate on? Maybe a decision he may to leave. Cleveland maybe that's like as a player I just don't Oh man like people skip bayless. They're just saying things for attention attention. That's what it is and the Internet. I wish there was a question that could like get me into the space where I could explain just how good every NBA player is to watch like just like to come to a practice if your average fan and to a practice and like watch team play second team and watch the guys working out beforehand guys playing one on one afterwards. The guys were under Games afterwards. Like just like Oh of this guy doesn't suck at all actually. Yeah but this is what you're talking about. Is You can make the argument about this criticism in general across the board in every industry like I I don't I don't Chris as criticism is fine. I'm fine with criticism. That's not what I'm saying. I guess I think there's a disconnect like with people thinking a players not good. That's like that's weird to be. Yeah I make sense to me out the the example I was going to bring up is M night on who you know. He's every he's he's heading. He's had like an incredible career grow. And and but he's a guy that's like he's had a few movies that have just gotten like universally panned and panned by fans panned by critics. He thinking you've talked about it with with you a little bit. He's a STOIC. So does none of that. But that's the thing where it's like you look at the technical craft of filmmaking. There is almost nobody on the planet who is better than him just does a from a straight up like there's no better than that doesn't mean that everything. He does works all the time but it basically the society that we're in people and they're allowed to do it. It's fine it's like this is it's why the thing that I'm always interested in is like how you guys blocked this stuff out. And how he blocks it out because part of why I ask. This is to me. The most sensitive people on planet earth or members of the media who if they get criticized or anyone says anything about them they literally can't ignore it they do not know how to ignore it and so it's impressive. It's impressive to assume that he'd even want to have the conversation but like I think about it with like somebody like Zion always asked them. It's like he's eighteen years old and he has something in his mind that allows him to block out anything on the Internet. That he doesn't care about he just doesn't care. Lonzo's the same way. That's that's impressive. Because most people are not like that. Yeah I think everybody were all the questions Get Weird if you want for the next mailbag episode. "Dirks Turks one of the greatest of all time for sure from Addy Elliott writes in. I like this. Who Do you believe you could beat an encore fight in today's NBA and then who for all NBA history is a little harder but how today's NBA? Today's NBA. Joe Ingles for sure. I would I would just. I would kill Joey. Zell's that's obvious. That's an obvious goes without saying I feel like honestly if it really out to it. I feel like I could. I could check deandre Jordan. I know he's bigger than me. But he's like one of those big is where on Mike he doesn't really want to scrap unanimity. Those those were the two guys right away. I feel like I could be what about what about. Tj So here's what worries me about Tj. One of those. I feel like he just wouldn't stop so I I would literally kill kill. Who is it a TJ CONOR MCGREGOR? I almost think. Tj has a better chance than league. Scientists could just be like fuck this. I'm tired of this. Tj You really got to put him down or he's GONNA keep coming she says TJ center of gravity is so low. I would even I would struggle just like getting a hold of him. You know what I mean. Even though he's smart he's just so low. I don't know my roommate in college. We used to talk about this. He was like the scrappy. Guy From Arkansas. To Walk on our team was like Yo ever fought like we'll will you think you'd have to fucking guilty as basically two? There's only one way to find out Sydney Sarah. Chac rights favourite bottle of wine. Under thirty dollars. Okay so I would say for me right now on a nice sort of warm spring day where you can be outside in a comfortable social distance from other people. I think nice bottle of San which is You know it's seventy on belong. Grape from France is the region but a nice sense. There would be much less and you can find a nice bottle from thirty bucks fairly easily. What's your favorite thing you've had recently? Chelsea's a thirty bird was on Wednesday. Night was two nights ago. She was born in Nineteen Five. Do some quick math. It's twenty twenty thirty five years. Nineteen eighty five so we opened a bottle of nineteen eighty five Red Burgundy. That was was really special man. It was really good really good and we had colleague Pizza. Even though I know talking about Luke Kelly at Thomas podcast throat a takeout so it's one takeout We've had we had this week where we actually left the department that when I got the pieces I brought it back a fourth straight year. We've done to colleague for Chelsea and her twins birthday and we had a nice bottle red burgundy. So that's Ed are you. Are you drinking wine or just doing gumy's drink want doing it? All I tried to invite you. Seventy was incredible. Yeah it was. It was his. That's the best thing I've had. I'm not as I just. I'm not as adventurous as you. I'm drinking what I what I'm doing. I'm doing a lot of takeout and getting wine from the restaurants and just sort of letting them pick for me which is working. I you know I feel like there are still some people who feel like wine is not approachable. Like it's fancy schmancy. You can get great wine at any at any price. Like oh for sure. I tend to stay away from sort of mass produce stuff. You know. There's a lot of you know smaller producers that make great stop great prices and you know the one thing. I've sort of always when I get into something like I sort of do a deep dive and the wine world is it's endless it is endless. Reputable similar similarly watches deep. It's deep but its way deeper than watches wading. Do you think it's a fair cop to say The wine world is in a in a weird way similar to golf. And that you can have you can have business conversations with people that you can start with a wine conversation and then it can lead into other things in a way that maybe watches is not sure. That's honestly what got me into to wine. I maybe I said this before but watches for me was very singular pursuit. It was it was. It was selfish. I thought who selfish no one else is wearing my watches and I was putting them in a box like that weren't even being used like I didn't make sense to me. Only makes you happy. No one has had those happy. You're wearing that. What line is a connector? Is a connector. And so you know some of you know my favorite conversations my favorite moments with friends or family or even just meeting someone for first time at dinner and you know having a conversation with them. It's it's been with you know why and so that really was a shift for me was like. Oh Yeah. I'm into the saying I like it but it also can be something that sort of bridges and connects people. Why not so? Yeah why off the same way like you go out and you play a force of three people. You don't really know by the end of it. You like best friends. Yeah sure why does definitely a great cortin gift? Yeah I mean listen. I've done some gifting in this quarantine. I give you a nice bottle. You give me a nice bottle but I would say that. It's your point about price point if you said as long as you're not sending somebody just like a piece of shit if you send them something that has that is just good to be doesn't super expensive. They will appreciate it and they will drink it with whoever they're whiz and so you're it is not as it's not a it's not a singular moment but Stephan Smith what do you think about the Donald Sterling Incident. Looking back on it. Shout out to Chris Paul. The and the qube document. Explain what that is. Yes Oh participated in a documentary called a blackballed. That will be out on grabby on Monday. Eighteenth where we sort of look at you know in a microwave. The Donald Sterling incident my first year with the clippers back in two thousand fourteen but then sort of what that meant in the larger context of sports and race in America so I I sat for like two our to our interview. is a B. Roll stuff. I did not know that I was doing to our interview in doing bureau stuff. Silent showed up at this random high school gym Manhattan. Like sweaty need is close on also shit but the documentary. Yeah it's IT'S. It's good man in an excited about it. What did I think about Donald Sterling incident? While you're going to have to watch the sit. Good tease come out again on Monday. The eighteenth it's a great topic for dock it. Is it similar to to sort of you know what Jason Did with the last dance? You know you're focused on ninety seven ninety eight season but you're you're telling that story in the context of sort of the whole history of Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls and in a way to very different things. Obviously but in a way it is his dock is doing. It's it's looking at this incident but it's looking at sort of the larger meaning and context of this incident in America. You know what I always thought. It's it's probably not substantial enough to be a documentary. But I'd love to see. Revisited is D Andre Obama signing with Dallas moment with with with the memes and everything on twitter like you guys had a lot of stuff with that team just somebody characters on that team. He's a like a great idea. We should do because I feel like. That's like a ten to fifteen minute documentary. It's not just reduce like six to eight of these like random little. Nba Docs. Why not okay. Yeah we'll just do this. We'll just take this offline. I think I think this is just. We should just do okay vic movies speaking of movies Ray Hernandez if there was a movie about you who would play you. I mean. I would want Tom Hardy to play me. I don't know how much she looks like me. He's a little short. Yeah celebrity lookalikes. I mean. I don't feel like I have like a like a slippery look like Gotten Adam Levine. Back when I was in la. When I would think is there. That's a real thing the tattoo in like when I was in la. And I had the high the high tight fade it. Was there a little bit when I was in Orlando? I used to get Freddie Prince Junior. See what's great about passing is that you were still getting that. At probably like he was probably a little bit on the downswing but fragrance judy or late nineties. Oh two thousand was like one of the goats so that the great basin cop to get. Would you summer little tease? But would you put summer catch in your top ten rob calms. Now mustn't top-five Tuck oath put any of the adult like his movies. I just watched. She's all that not a fan She's all not a good number. Not but some are catches is is a great is a great movie. I wouldn't I wouldn't call it a good movie. I would call it a great. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have to have this out because summer catch is not a Tom. Hardy Tom Hardy playing an NBA player. Actually would be basic story of the two hundred fifteen. Los Angeles Clippers with Tom. Hardy is you. You'll be funny as if we could like somehow get Tom Cruise to play me in a movie. Just because of the way that he like. The way that he moose. I think it would be funny to watch basketball or as top crews sports movie besides wire run he runs. A lot is is yeah. He's insane shape he's just a small guy. I mean that guy. He's not playing an athlete. He gets he could play a coach. Sure who is? Who would you have play me in a blaming? Play you first of all. Nobody wants to move. I would have I would have I. Would I? Wouldn't say Adam Levine. 'cause I don't think he'd be a good actor. Freddie junior is not a relevant enough anymore. The person who use it really WanNa have play you is Timothy Salomon man. That's that's how the movie becomes a hit. If you should beginning again with Mark Ruffalo now is it. New is from like five six years ago but Adam Levine was was a musician it did not not playing himself. I was good. If out can act that he should play. You know like full stops. I'm I'm GonNa Textile Right now. Yes I think. I think that this this could be part of our expert. Doc series is the bio pic. But we have to pick the bio pic with just like specific year. So it's gotta be like it has to be like two thousand sixteen Los Angeles or like a specific year in Orlando can't focus on your career can't focus do any of that. It's just to be a year in life. It's weird to be thirty six and still get asked about gook not as like a like a secondary or tertiary topic.

The man is really worth it all. This is all of this like obviously he appreciates the game is given we all have. There's there's you know there's the negativity or there's the the wanderlust of the season where you're just constantly on somebody else's schedule and you know. I know every job is like that but everybody has it at their job so when it begun to job sometimes. You're like Yeah Okay. Fuck this yeah. I think I was talking with somebody yesterday about this. But it's like why. Why am I still why you still blam returned thirty six month absolutely because basketball has been the love of my life for twenty years? I loved it. I mean I love my family see more bass more a thing and I still do. And that's why still play 'cause I just absolutely love it but there's definitely times where it brings on a certain amount of anx. What did you think about stand van day saying as competitive as Jordan? I think what he was trying to say was the reason. He was greatest because he was so talented. Andy a competitive this. There's a lot of talented guys and there's a lot of competitive guys. There's very few guys that are as competitive and as talent when win stand got fired. I texted him that day. I was I was fucking distraught analysis so kiss and how and how they fired him. I don't know ever become public but how they fired him was just during those guys. I mean seriously had they fire. I'm not that did it just. It wasn't right it wasn't right. They disrespected anyways. I'm distraught and I. We were texting day. He actually said to me day. Said you know you don imus in. Rashard are my three favorite players of coached in terms of your work ethic and competitiveness in your your professionalism and all that so he. He had said things to me before like that. But I did see that when you when you said that the other day he said I was competitive as Michael Jordan. I have other issues besides gambling. So by competitiveness manifest itself in other ways. But certainly I think you most guys are really really competitive. Most guys are really competitive. Most guys are really talented but do to be both at such a level makes him grace. Chris Warren writes in speaking of Mj says would you do JJ? Would you do a last dance style? Documentary for your final season when I do a last dance. Yeah and then the follow up is a to both of us who would be your co starred Rob Com. Okay like that okay. That's good dot dot question. I thought your call whether you're team allows that but would you do a follow thing around like a D. Wade type thing where you I mean. I guess I would consider it but I don't amount really thought about it. I think the book thing is probably probably where I'm headed by something like that. I mean we haven't done. Iran com rankings. But like it's GONNA be Jennifer. M's gotta be really like to start with. Yeah what is it okay? So we're not to ruin our. I'm not saying I had like a crusher. I'm just saying she's just like Sh- she's the best and Rob Gosh she. Just which Rob Calms What's the movie with Jason? Today because we are the millers. Oh my God Oh my God. We need to do a full episode on this thing. I loved it a fan. I'm Jennifer Aniston Hater. If this was who would you want to star in a sitcom with a fine movies are great? But she's well down the list. She's not even a top five. Maybe she maybe. She's not done like the traditional Rom com that you're speaking that you know like like Notting Hill or how to lose a guy in ten days. Sweden Alabama like those type of movies like she has done many of those like she's done like we are millers and horrible bosses and that terrible movies she did with Gerard Butler that I forgot the name of it was universally panned by So Vince Vaughn where they live together but they're broken up. She's done that they just start to break. Up was not a ROM com so I need to rewatch break because I've it first half of the movie playing like a wrong. Yeah second half. The movie is dark. Shit all right I. I know what I'm doing. I know what I'm doing right when we get off of. This podcast is every watching. The break-up it's more of a drama. We're GONNA this is. This is a to be continued conversation. Because we're going to have a full episode on this once we are. What's it's ready once. The episode is ready. Once we both feel comfortable with our Institutional Rob Com knowledge. This is going to happen. This is an interesting one. I think from Jay Goyal who ended a street fight between Zion and CONOR McGregor. I mean you gotta go with the professional would say connor has a good chance of beatings. I on but I can't. I can't knock go with my teammate. So I was dying my choice I would say. Conor has these jets that that will be designed didn't even make it into our back alley rankings. But the but that's just the question the back alley thing is the guy that's looking for a fight. Zion's clearly not looking for a fight but he's just such a physical beast that Qatar's tough to beat. I don't have to exile because not by teaming. Isn't there video somewhere of connor scrapping with the mountain. From game of thrones video exists. Yeah it was bouncing around the red a couple months ago connors like a big Guy Right now. He's like five nine hundred forty pounds. He's little yesterday is it's just. It's just a question is the question of whether Zion can land something before he just grounds and pounds. Okay Eric. This question for bills on News Mont build a perfect shooter taking element from each of the greats example. Dame's range Claes form your work etc. This is good. I'm taking Donna than Mitchell's balance. I had him on the podcast. I told him this. I've never seen someone who so on his lower body strength is just insane to me. And he's so lan balanced every time he shoots. The jump shot some taking his balance. Claes up there too when he just doesn't have the same lift. Claes balanced straight to the Donovan Mitchell. Balance Ray Allen's jumping and cats were able to throw greyhounds cavs in there I go back and forth between Klay Thompson form and Kyle Korver form. Those guys have the best the best form to me. What is it credible? Cavs mean like his calf muscles. Incredible credible the vessels the muscles are credible. Rayo has great. Calf muscles isn't plural of calf. This is curious so that so but that is just like they're strong they don't get hurt like what no like. We're building the shooter right. So located like Dodd Mitchell's like the Nia we got Don Mitchell. But then we got ray ounce casts. Okay perfect like you know totally no I know yeah vets. And then we're GONNA throw in Steph Curry's false just a stone's on at this stoned on that guy and you know what we got. I gotta get some like some love to dame with his range so even though staff has range will say. Dame's ranch dip dame's range steps stones. Cool as form Donovan's balance raise jumping slash caps. What am I missing? Am I missing anything but work see me when I was GonNa say you have to be in there in some capacity? Why Not is vision important at all in this calculation or not? Really think so people talk about like how to you know shoe Vassalboro and like one of the things they talk about where to look at. Look at the back of the room. You'll confront ram sheet over the front around. Shoot it at the back of the RIM in. It'll it'll go in some people. Watch the ball just just bizarre to me. There are some shooters. Watch the ball. I generally just like look into general direction the Rim. I don't like like focus on the front or the back. It's just it's more just muscle memory by the way. Speaking of something is being taught. Wrong layups we need to talk about this for the wellish. When I was brought up in maybe basketball coaches now teaching youth or teaching this differently. But if you're shooting a one legged lineup so you're shooting a one legged layup on the right side. You should not jump off your left foot. You should go same hand same leg or you go same or you go outside leg inside hand so right leg. Latin on the right side left leg right.

I think is the squirted getting to us. But I always internal battle Whenever I've moved in my life where I've moved cities for job even even with college like I mean. It wasn't a question of whether I was going to do it but I would. Just get myself a get anxious and I would get I. Would I would do the pros and cons of everything and I'm getting my own head about it. I don't get internal battles about work stuff because I do a lot of different. Shit and so. I've I've I've now in a position where I've sort of set my life up where it's not like I'm locked into one thing and if I leave that it's like I'm throwing my life away. I'm just kind of all over the place but I do think that that is a I could see you know from my friends. Who've had situation I could see if you've been at one place for a really long time and you have all these this sort of goodwill built up internally and everything like that. I could see how that could could mess. People up by internal battle is actually one that POPs up quite frequently. Sometimes I could go three or four years and it doesn't pop up. once every couple of months just just the love hate relationship. I have with basketball the first time ever experienced it. I was in eighth grade. I broke my wrist the third time in six months. So what my dad I was. I'm not going to school today. This as I go kass on. Why what is GonNa Change between now and then we would be able to play in by live in our hope in our own cities and traveled to other cities in play. That's what's kind of worrisome to me. Would you agree with me? I don't think there's an answer to that. I just yeah nothing I mean. It's it from all from all scientific sort of accounting of this it. This is a seasonal virus. And so we're probably in for more of what we've been through in the fall you know without a vaccine arena have to bubble next year for six galaxy months when you're talking about people just knowing the risks and basically opting into the risks that a contractual thing is that thing were like everybody in the traveling party says if I got this. We can't be held responsible for it. I I would assume there would have to be some level of liability involved where you're signing something acknowledging risk. I don't know though I mean they extended the CVA sort of deadline with whatever you WANNA call it because of the force majeure you know both sides can essentially walk out from the CVS. They extended the deadline to sort of be able to walk out in September so I think both sides layers league we wanNA games WANNA play Recognizes is not going to happen with fans anytime soon but one day but we also have a responsibility to not just ourselves in our families in everybody within our traveling Bharti and everybody within the organization. It's going to be involved but a responsibility to society to do that in a safe way. That's you know so there's a way to insulate us and we acknowledged the risk and we play and everybody agrees to do that than the auto at the APP Games. There has to be some level of protection. You know for for anyone who doesn't who doesn't want that risk. What do you think about the Fake crowd noise. They say they're saying football. It's certainly going to happen. I haven't I haven't heard or read that about anything in the NBA at Crown. His I am in the NFL. I don't know if I don't know if they were supposed I was reading it. I think Joe Buck said it. I don't know if we're was supposed to say publicly. But basically that that's going to because they're going to play these games without fans but it looks like they're on track to do this starting normal schedule time that the same way that like in practice they simulate fake crowd noise to get guys ready. They're just going to do that at home games. Which C. C. While to me but the NFL's playing in like eighty thousand seats stadiums. Right aren't they? They're playing the stadiums whereas I don't think we'll be playing at least not right away. I don't think we'll be playing in our home. Arenas will be buying dollar venues at Disneyworld or whatever you know. And there's guys are taught guys talk you know so. I think I think it'll be enough noise. Squeaks allies sneaker squeaks. Look I get really sad that we've talked about this. You had days where you're really optimistic in your helpful in the days. Where Your? Little Nest Mystic in your. You're sad and I am sat for a lot of people. Obviously people are struggling healthwise economically with their with their jobs. And all that stuff. This is just a very very sad situation. There's there's a lot of days where I'm just heartbroken. Let's get through the mail bag. We got some good questions. I don't see any of these questions before. You're the one that gets these questions. These are my favorite episodes. Because I don't have to prep for. We got some great questions this week. I still want weird or questions. I want questions that make you visibly uncomfortable. Those are the best best bill. That questions are when you look at it. You're like I can't answer that and we don't have enough of those indistinct right now all right. Let's start it offs. Riley lanes sent an email in. What's one activity that you guys have done in quarantine that you never would have done in normal times? Why don't you start without? I have a bunch of a bunch of activities. I started meditating playing the piano. Honestly this is not at. This is an activity that I I've done in small doses. But the amount of Shit that I've watched in the last eight eight weeks is insane compared to what your second normal and it's like it's like that with you for sure where you just don't have time to watch anything between the kids and stuff and season but I would say I would say meditation is by by God. Answer is our grass at for sure arts grass not a real big arts and crafts guy but you know for school. I did a ton of stuff with obviously we. I think we've talked about. We did a whole children's book series. knocks illustrated and guide him dictated. I gotTa Road Things Out About two cub tigers named Elijah Ethan. Who went on adventures in Sag Harbor in Brooklyn and New Orleans The other day for Mother's Day we did like three days worth of like arts and crafts and then when she woke up we had all these banners and cards and hearts made so yeah arts and crafts you think stick with it and I was doing arts and crafts today out of the patio or there. So yeah I think I will stick with it. Yeah it's a good see that this is a positive knox is like Knox's very creative like he likes doing this stuff. So it's like I'd notice in quarantine like it's really fun for me to do it with really appreciates when I do these projects so I think so. Few people have asked us. I'm GonNa read this from Matthew Graham. What's the weirdest request you've ever received? Fan I mean. I've never been asked to do anything. That was inappropriate or anything like that. I'd have to really think about it because I feel like there's honest there's probably nine or ten really weird things that have I just basically have repressed them new slack about plaque about. Do you think the Internet makes fan interaction better or worse social media and the Internet has allowed everyone voice even people. That shouldn't have voice. I must have a boy subdivision of voice on certain things but it's a lot everybody to have a voice and holds athletes to some level of accountability. So I think that can sorta wear on the athlete a little bit but I also think when there's genuine sort of back and forth and interaction with fans. It's it's an awesome so it's a good thing. Here's a college question Casey Evans. Jj can you give us a quick rundown at higher? Recruitment went my dad. Always says you almost came to Uva and that made your games against us all the more painful. That is true. I almost did go to unique. So basically do was my dream school. I had wanted to go there since I was eight years old as I was you know. It was in high school and playing for Williams I realized like UvA would be a great option to a couple campus tours official visits or whatever and two of my teammates on booms out Brown and Jason Clark. They were my close friends on balloons. They were billing. Uva and I was like really drawn to sort of the idea playing with those guys at Uva staying in state all that stuff so the fall of my junior year like in September I so a visit to UvA visits do. I was supposed to go the following weekend to University of Florida. Those are my top three schools. Billy Donovan was there so I go to Viagra visit Great Time. I go to do you know when I'm in the room with coach Gay. He said you know you can commit. You have an offer whatever and get back to Virginia and I'm supposed to Florida with my sisters. My parents weren't even going with me. It was there. It was like midnight. Midnight Madness daily was daily in our friends. He was calmed down from Saint. Louis sounds like this. Is this weekend's going to be awesome and then by Tuesday Tuesday night I was like man. I don't even WanNa go just like the duke. Shane was like so heavy on me. I'm just GONNA commit and I wanted to get you know the commitment out of the way and just enjoy the last two seasons of my school career so I committed that Wednesday to do down. The phone with coach told him I was coming. This is what I would say if I went to Gainesville. Who knows who's on that team. Florida team will so my senior. They ended up winning a championship with Joe and has. Yeah Import Moore. That team was like Rogerson. David Lee James White Matt Walsh went. Obviously I denied in. I didn't know so Matt Walsh was the wing Beta Team but I was GONNA say University of Texas recruited me pretty hard to and I gave him. I don't WanNa Really WanNA leave home owner. Be Close to home and I mean I lived in Austin for three and a half years had I made it down to Austin high. School might gonNA use. I don't know I was so focused on going to do so. Did you have any? Did you have any inbetween when you've got to do and you committed you have any What if feet moments or you're locked in now because my junior year do won a national title and in my senior year. Jay Will Boozer Dunleavy. Were all there. And they came back and Dunleavy We've been friends since junior year high school. So you know I used to go down by sisters lived in Raleigh at the time so it's still do so I would go down. See to stay with them crash with my in play. Pick up on the weekends in Summers whatever like it was offseason so I got a time. He was supposed to be that he was supposed to be a senior to stay and be my mentor. And then I dove in the streets. I just got Nasseri Thousand and then from there before we get to the next question. Let's hear from our friends from Roman. "Could potentially make it. I don't know necessarily that. That will happen. Not but the PELICANS team that's on the playoffs right now that they will be able to make that run but I think from Fan's perspective. It will bring everybody in where it's like. Okay listen we. We want closure for the season just because our team wasn't the Celtics are the Lakers. Or whoever it is like we still WanNa see then have a chance and so I basically think like throw everything out. This is clearly the weirdest year ever like try it out. What's the downside? Now we worked hard with these games. Let these non playoff game though like you think about like in a series of when you play in a series man. It's each game is like its own decade. It feels like you know and it's so long in the roller coaster of emotions gained a game and somebody turns are ankle and can't play in game three like maybe can play a little bit in game or you just take all out and I guess you're saying fans yet sure I'm I'm sure fans of teams that made me want to be in. The playoffs would be cool with that. But I think what fans really like is these long series with the best teams in the league just going at each other on for seven games or potentially for seven gains that. That's that's always what I what I was drawn to. You know when I look back over Playoff Mike. May remember that seven game series between this team in that team. That's what I enjoy is the top of the League Duke. It out and trying to win the whole thing. I don't know the answer. I don't know that that we can. We can get to that At least with seven game situation but what will wait say I mean I play If if it's safe obviously You know I wanNA play out. I want our guys have a chance to If we can we can finish the year on the right now. I want to reiterate that to like I. I WANNA play. I mentioned some pushback from from players like not wanting to play two or three regular season games. I want to reiterate something that I said earlier. Which makes this so unique. The reason that we we need this extra time is that it's not like the off-season a normal offseason. Every guy has their basketball trainer. Their body trainer access to a proper weight room and equipment access to a proper gymnasium. We're like peace kneeling shit together right now. We're just trying to think like. Is there a hill somewhere where I can run carrot? Jj really misses his trainer as the jazz it cracked. I I really do straighter like nagging thing going on the left side of my sacred right now and I'm like I just need. I just need my Guy Right now. No I mean that's that's a fair point like we got a party. My neighborhood a basketball who've been it's not a public markets are neighborhood parks so it's not closed like the hoops are still up. You can still go out there and all the kids in the neighborhood are out there playing on so I I don't go up there because you know. I don't think it's safe to be up there playing but that's the closest thing that you and I have thought about a lot about the players and I mean I work out for general fitness and even just doing is hard because I hate running like I don't like running. I never liked running and I enjoyed running like in basketball. Because there's a purpose running to something. I'm running to the fans something but just to go out there and like people that do that job offer like five six miles like that. Ain't it for me so that's really the only cardio you can. You can do If you don't have machine in your house and so can be challenging for sure. Do you do you In under normal circumstances but since you retired. Do you still hope. Do you still do still pick up. No I don't play some body south. You know like this banged up and just not wanting to like knowing that people like to have you. How'd you tear off? I pick up your psychic. Don't ask why are we doing that. You know you're terry see someone like forty five that Taylor chilis like they're never designed so that kind of worries me because I didn't have any injuries like that had one shoulder surgery. Thirteen years of flying so I like Stabili and so feel like if I keep trying to test that I might. I might So I don't play all shoot around quite a couple of times but not this year. I haven't played this year with the staff the samples lot in Boston. But I haven't played this year but maybe next year. We'll see Tommy. I don't know if I told you this. But and Karen. I talked about this on the phone the other day but my freshman year of high school at Cave. Spring was care as senior year of high school at West Springfield in northern Virginia. And our team not my team but our women's basketball team played cares team in the State. Senate was the semi finals right. Yes state semifinals. I while carrow is A legend in Virginia and we got we got a raw deal at the end of the game in care. Hit the game. Winning free throws. Yeah you know. It's funny because I don't remember every game I've ever played. Obviously there's too many at this point right so certain games in your career standout when you look back at your career weather ties school college pros. Amish unfortunate enough to play a long time and I was telling you on the phone like that. That was might have been a game hours. The most nervous for in my life was that game. The state semifinals. Because is your senior high school. We were undefeated at the time. So we were trying to cap off an undefeated season. Obviously it's your last year of high school and we start playing this game and they just slow it down. They slow the game now. I mean there. There's no shot clock. I mean they're just taking the air out of the ball and I couldn't hit anything that day like just couldn't make shots of this happened and it was. It was a slow slog through the mud man. And you're sitting here like now like this is not our she's GonNa end. This is crazy and came down to the last play. A score was tied and I drove in with with the time going down and Sean it got fouled and then went to the free throw line in. There was not much time at all. Maybe like one or two seconds so I made the first and missed the second on purpose so that the time would out and we one is a controversial foul call in cave spring for sure of that thought. I got a superstar call. I don't think you could get superstar media superstar called High School. I don't think I got the I got the opposite of superstar calls in high school. I got refs. They were like I'm GonNa. I'm GONNA teach you a lesson hotshot. I'm not giving you any calls tonight. It's a nervous. I was nervous for the. What's Virginia basketball scene like? It's different regions? That's the best way to put a different region so I live in so I'm I'm from Virginia but I'm in the DMV so northern Virginia right. So when I was growing up the women seems in northern Virginia. Usually want stay like sometimes it'd be other teams usually up where we are the DC area like we just had a lot of good players talent on there so obviously the populations gray appear. We would win a lot of the a lot of state championships in On the winning side on the men's side it was tidewater lose a lot of schools from tidewater that that win the championship. So Tom watters light Alonzo mourning like Hey I like Michael Kam. Chancellor like those are football. Guy Who got Ron Carey rocker Smith Josephus number-one pick all those guys are down. There from top. Water is like great football down there and a lot of those football players playing basketball teams. So they would win a lot and they would win championships with tidewater. Virginia beach or was it with a is that a is it a public school or prep school. You all from once the the weird thing about you guys were triple A. Obviously AAA MY F- up until my senior year so back then there were single. Double Triple A. In Virginia and on the western side of the state where we were there were only like six AAA schools but then like Richmond Northern Virginia and and tidewater which is like eastern Virginia Hampton Roads. Newport. News all those places there were like four or five districts of six teams in AAA. So all that's why all the good schools were like over there. We basically there was like one team that would come out of our side of the state of the State and go to state tournaments. And then you'd have you know much much better teams with more more kids to like what was the. We had like twelve hundred kids in my school. I don't know how we were. Triple head to be honest with you. Yeah we had like two thousand mine I think. Twenty twenty two hundred. Do the schools play Virginia or no. Because because as a great basketball history area yet can be kind of confusing. Debbie so in Virginia on the public schools you play Virginia public schools in terms of by going to stay in. What your final analysts. Same thing in Maryland and same thing in the history of basketball. Dnv is so rich in a Lotta that is like the Catholic Louis so called WNYC so the Math Book Dagga or Connell Ppi the council. Like I mean we could. I could just list like hundreds of guys at conferences area that are great huber's and is becoming better on the women's side but when I was coming out Virginia postal was probably the best in terms of talent. Maybe Merriman puzzle was writers. Right there with US too. But it just hadn't gone to the women's side yet. But yeah I mean when I come out. Ninety nine like Keith. Bogans Joe Forte Roger Mason Crystalline road. The marr-johnson by it was a lot of a lot of good players that ended up making it to the NBA implant in the WAC. We've had some some great players through here. I mean obviously like Grant Hill was a public school kid South Lakes. I remember all watch him play in high school I mean. Jj knows is a ton of guys. I mean Johnny Dawkins Tommy Anchored Wti Woodson. I mean there's so many guys from the DC area on more contemporary guys. Was Joey Beard. Joey beard I used to go watch join. Beard played number forty two south lakes. Yeah watch him and then And then you go like contemporaries. Obviously I mean like Quinn Cook. Tyler. Thornton Guys came to different schools. Do Math agains agate? Young Young Young Guy Jeremy Road really good. He's going down there So there's a ton of talent in the area and it always has been great summer leagues. You know great outdoor leagues like you can find a game everywhere in DC winded window. Kill become a thing like mid-2000s no. It was a thing mouse high school because when I was climbing Smith with their ninety five yeah because he had like a CD blade and Travis Walton in those guys. When I was in high school that so it was a thing in the nineties. Richer care have you ever been to mouth of Wilson Virginia where okay. Listen listen up on my Google maps. That's it and then I liked ruts. There is literally nothing they're like from your from. It's like two two hours probably. Did they club did you ever. Did you ever want to go there? Oh yeah yeah I I mean like so at. After my junior year I gave brief consideration. Like Oh kill and then Montrose Montrose. Christian. Which is up in Maryland I was GONNA say the we my junior year.

That's a fact you were going on and on about the coffee machine. The slow cooker is is an is an exceptionally more important invention than a coffeemaker. Let me let me tell you why. That's that's a terrible take because there's plenty of ways to cook something. Slowly loewen slow. That's all you gotTa do right. You can cook it on a grill you can cook it In a smoker you can cook it in Dutch oven. You can cook it in the oven. I do. I make ribs in the oven. Yup Yup if you had kids getting up at five thirty or six o'clock in the morning and you had to hand me you do pour over to grind your own coffee do all that stuff. No nobody wants to do that. The coffee maker just little boop one button boob and then six minutes later you have a steaming cup of Joe. Come on coffee makers important. I'm not GonNa hate on the coffee maker. I thought you were going to talk about the rob Cobb thing that caused the stir to. We're GONNA ADDRESS THAT IN OUR NEXT EPISODE. Not This yes. People are very passionate about rob calms. He wasn't a bad godse whether that guy at all isn't a fantastic movie. I mean his mom sucks and I just I. It seemed a little seems a little biased against New Yorkers concern classic. Hollywood shit on New York. Yeah I I WOULD. I would say they also did some classic like Shit on the South scenes in the movie as well. They were sitting on everybody but still i. Also I've civil war reenactments still exist. I'M GONNA plead the fifth on this. Actually I have no idea I. I've just fascinated by that. I actually love to. Just be like a spectator in. I would say given the fact that there was the corona virus protest rally in Michigan yesterday. And there were confederate flags admit fight as confederate flag has to do with. Corona virus added Michigan. Yes there probably are civil war reenactments. What do you watch out? Give give give the listeners. A couple of watch again. My wife Sucks. I'm watching nothing. "Welcome to this week's episode of Jj Redick podcast with Tommy. Alter this week we are joined by two media superstars ryen Russillo from the ringer networking and big cat from barstool them. Welcome to see great to be great to be there. A lot of people know this about the cat Ni- but we are actually neighbors soon to be even closer. We live in the same neighborhood in Dumbo. Not In height though. No I'll be higher the neo but yeah we do in its No one's no one's in Dumbo. Right now it's a ghost town. Which is crazy. 'cause it's a tourist central united to each other like three three years ago actually Like I was taking a walk with my youngest was not even one yet and do you remember the rest of that story. 'cause you probably want to tell that part but you were standing there talking catching up and then a guy ran by was like Joe Big Cat. What's up and I was like. Hey what's up man? And then he liked pause for second I was like is. Jj RETTIG EAR is like. Oh what's up? Jj that's big cats as his favorite thing to do ever. He did it. He loves it. He loves it so that anyone would stop me when I'm saying. Jj Redican maybe. It's a maybe it's a like age thing but like Jj Radic name that will forever live my brand. That's happening to you as a lot. Now Lutheran New Orleans after the National Championship game that night any you and PF were getting stopped. Every we would like Anthony Rizza. We're with like you ruled like those world series. Mvp and Shit. Nila cared about you to hank. Hank you gotta remember. That feels like it was ten years ago because we haven't been able to be outside at a bar do anything for forever. Now it really is oppressing you guys have your own podcast obviously so all your listeners. Know How you're doing but from my listeners. Talk to me about your isolation your quarantine right now. How's it going? Yeah I mean. My friends joked that that this isn't really that much of a daily routine. Change up for me so Yesterday I moved out all my furniture. I'm building up rack in my living room and I'm just trying to figure out some way to to stay. Stand up things. I wrote a bike the other day for the first time in ten years. I I can't get off of that thing. I've ordered reflectors and stuff off Amazon. So I'm excited to really pimped thing out and you know. Look the podcast part of it. We're lucky the people still want him so I really don't have any complain about and I'm just I'm just hanging out man. Yeah I'm I feel like the quarantine is is two different world for people with with children and the people without children people without children can kind of go back to basically living in college and The people with children. It's like this. Get Me Outta here at this. Just trapped in in an apartment in New York. See kind of socks. I wish I had a backyard. I making do I bought. I bought a you buy a lot of stuff. Eighty pounds of assets that I walk around the neighborhood and I bought a trumpet which my neighbor is not happy about. So that's going to be. That's an ongoing thing. Play a little forests. Pretty good tone right. It's great. I just keep buying random stuff and filling my apartment with more. And more junk and yeah. It's it's sucks right now but it's important that everyone stays home. I feel like you've got to say that you know because we are influencers. So stay at home guys. I was talking to one of our assistant. Coaches with the PELICANS Last night and we were going through the pleasantries of how you doing and he said to me. I've been training for this my whole life. I love isolation I can see. This would be so bad for you. Because you're a people person you know. I like to be out man. I like to be out like be interacting with people. I mean this. This is like hot. This sucks for me. This socks every day that goes by. I'm getting a little worse. I I really think what's happening here is is that once. We get through day thirty because I've tried to. I don't know we get a lot of time on her hands. I spent a Lotta time theorizing but our people are going to start really losing it after day. Thirty or like a lot of people once. It's Kinda Day thirty and you've accepted it as your new normal are people are going to be better off mentally. I'm going with the positive one on the ladder there. Because I think that's how things were. But and that's when the government comes padlocks our doors and guess what you're trapped inside forever now your all robots and we've Enslave the entire world. That's what that's what I think's going to happen or so but the I always think about like what's going on right now and I agree with you. Jj You don't realize how much like just human interaction day to day. You take it for granted. I'm just thinking about the people who loved to be like. I'm an introvert extrovert frauds. That like you say oh. I'd just like to sit on my couch on the weekend. And just kind of I'm a neuro unwind be away from the world. Those people are being exposed as frauds right now. 'cause they're probably like man? I really wish I go outside and like talk to a person. Tommy everything out of this with the worst thing he has watched last week's sounds like you last night. Who Watches his social network twice dude? Who Watches it back to back? Did you miss an ending? Okay I'm GONNA walk by night very brief. It's a great movie by the way but twice. There's very efficient marijuana. Gummy delivery service in Los Angeles. I got some gumy's I made some cookies. I watched the network. I forgot how good it was so I started watching. It didn't do. I didn't get through the whole thing twice but I watched about full movie. Then the star of the movie in a half hour wait so you say you watched it and you're like Oh fuck man. Let's running back. Yeah The music in the movie is so good. It's the best music and movie. I think it's the best movie ever made. Personally what what I I think. He's a really good movie. I think it's the best movie ever made in the history of cinema. How good were these? Gummy good but I have bought this. You don't you don't think the social network is up there for best movies ever made not even close. Whoa OKAY O. Rien has got triggered this citizen Kane of the twenty first century the opening dialogue that opening scene where Zuckerberg's talking to the girl not interested in him and they're having two separate conversations while they're having the same conversation as a writer you know. I don't know if there's certain things you guys probably can't pick up on but I did I. It's a good movie I just. I don't know if I'd watch it back twice. Yeah that I would agree with. I'M GONNA backup Tommy here and just say that I get. We say he's a little stoned he kind of loses interest. Because he's enjoying his high. He gets about three quarters of the way through the movie he picks up on a seen. He's like Holy Shit. This movie is actually really good. He starts the movie over re watches it and now he's in that space where he can really focus and enjoys. The is that essentially what you're saying. Yes I would've gotten all the way through. I thought I'd never been high before so I don't know on just would have made it through saying it right the next day you ranked at the number one movie in the history of the world though that resilient what is what is the number one movie in history of the world to your outlook. Sometimes everybody run in the same direction. The right I think those first two godfathers tough tough to beat. I don't really know what else is up there. I know this is gonNA sound really funny and old fashioned but as far as like the story telling and even though it takes forever gone with the wind is an incredible movie And if we're going to go something that's not as artsy. I think rushmore actually is like a perfect movie. I Love Rushmore. Russia's a great movie rushmore is great movie. We'll take a lot of dummies for me to come on the pot and say I think it's number one of the world but do do you love all of Wes Anderson's bottlerocket. I actually liked better than rushmore. I Love Tenenbaum's I love Rushmore. And then you know. It took a real wes Anderson Fan to come out at some of the other ones and go. These are still some of the greatest movies ever feeling himself. You know what I mean. He kind of was like. Oh this is cool like people like me getting even weirder and weirder and I agree with you right after the life aquatic was easy sue shade. After the life aquatic at the life aquatic for me is a classic. It's it's in my top three wes Anderson movies. I liked it but it wasn't. It felt like it was trying to recapture what Rushmore and tenenbaums in bottle rocket were and it kind of lost a little bit from for me bottle rocket. Was Somebody Song College. I just remember being like okay. I might want to do this like this blows my mind. How funny and it wasn't trying to be funny. He just wrote these. These awesome characters but so wait a minute. You Have Z. Soon it's in the top three. Then what do you have out between? Tenenbaum's Rushmore bottlerocket unless you have a completely different ranking for West. Jj I have not seen rushmore. And I and I hate to say that what well there you go. Every one of his other movies tenenbaums was the first rush. Are BURST WES. Anderson Movie I saw. I saw that in college right around that time I saw bottle rocket zoo. I saw on theaters and I enjoyed the Grand Budapest hotel. Some people love that movie. I didn't enjoyed is much saw. I'll reserve for the third spot. My top three four rushmore. Even though I haven't seen it all right so become what is what is your greatest movie of all time. Not your favorite. But the greatest probably hard target John Claude van Damme Chevy Cajun Cajun flair for. I don't know I'm not like a huge time. Cop was good shoe. Not I'M Cup. Holds up monitoring travel movies do. I'm not a huge. I love movies but I'm not a huge Strong opinions about movies guy so I would probably go with. What Ryan's saying like it's hard to beat Godfather? I personally godfather to more than one. But it's hard to go against those movies. I actually had an idea I've been. We've been re watching movies on my radio. Show the Act. Little Plug there for slow. We've been re watching sports movies. And I've I've thought an idea is we need to start doing Frankenstein movies. We were watching hoosiers. And what if what if Dennis Hopper had a bomb like underneath the the basketball court. And like if Jimmy doesn't score sixty like the place blows up. That's where I'm Africa warranty just just Frankenstein movies. There's a lot better who's better. You'll make like castaway Tom Hanks Plane Island he's deserted. Oh Yeah and there's also three hundred Nazis on the on the island that he has to kill before can get off. I think in one of our first one of our first power rankings. I had hoosiers in my top five as one of my favorite bad movies. I actually think hoosiers is a bad movie really. Oh it's terrible. I let me tell you my reasoning in any given get in any given game.

"Yeah they don't WanNa be. Don't WANNA be no nobody wants to be categorized as one particular thing even if that is of course the only thing too I think join us has more of a claim to napping justice myself. We were talking about it. It'd be like I. I have box scores. I literally don't take another shot so I have a little bit less ground to stand on. If I'M GONNA fight back on that but still I mean at this point in my career as long as Ambien form. I'll take the call shooter I'll take but it's not only are you in a NBA uniform. But I mean I went to the game. You guys played. Who's in December on Christmas? And you played. Indy is really good game. You put Indian philly back to back. I didn't go to the game. Did you play any? I think he wanted the last sacraments of a that. I think he probably had five or six threes in the game. But you could tell. Obviously it's the home crowd so they know you but there's now an expectation when you shoot and it's the same thing it's been with him since. Orlando when you shoot so I was like fourteen now where you shoot. It's going again. People are like. Oh that's surprising. So that's the thing that does everyone in the League can shoot the NBA. But at the point there's only a few guys that obviously obviously the stats will back that up with with both of you guys. And so that is the thing where it is a. It's he add to label but it's a label that like you're not labeling guys that are mediocre shooters shooters and also say this that. I couldn't make a shot in preseason. I shall like twenty six percent from three this year this year. And you know the doubt everything starts to creep Bannon p like Playing this guy whatever In nobody in American Airlines dot any of my shots were growing up. So I've been on. I'll tell you I'd much rather be on. The side of people are like anticipating. Probably GonNa go in what do you? What do you like watching in? What are you? What are you consuming? Content wise is. I'm not on twitter. Which I think is probably the the ultimate blessing I I deleted twitter. When I got to Michigan I was like all about it when I first started playing and then I had like a slump Lee inevitable that he had some questionable tweets thirteen Michigan tweets from Williams. I had I had the inevitable slump and you know the mentions go from like. Oh you're the best to like. Get off all this stuff. So I'm like you know what I'm just going to delete this some off twitter. Which is good. I'm on instagram. But like I don't. I don't really like post that much so most of it is just like you know. See stuff here and there that sent to mayor or whatever so not really too much is good. I try to keep a clear head about try to you. Do you get noticed outside of like Miami or do people Miami Noticias occasionally Miami. Yeah Miami people were like your fame right now this is not fame it's not really it's not existent which. I I've I've I joy quite frankly like before there's I just I walked down. Bourbon street grabbed a meal by myself. Nobody would even think say anything which I think is great. It is interesting though the difference in the cities because you have played in La for a long time if you played in a different city. And you've had this year you've had you would be getting for example if you played in New York. Steve Novak never had a season. You're having right now. Notice him. Great shooter never had a seasonally grabbing. Now Steve Novak was like a cult icon fan. Yeah that one year with Mike and he was like that guy is but the cheque. But I'm wondering if you think about this. I wonder if that's just because the heat are a especially recently are like consistently successful franchise in kind of like judge these things based off of how you do. It may not now. I think Miami's a pretty popular city so like you might see some rapper celebrity like actual celebrity walking down the street. So it's like voted out by like people are just less they care. I'll give the occasional like just a wild city my hand night. The Night of Miami starts at eleven thirty goes to like five. And you're doing it the right way by avoiding all that and just having good meals in doing your job. That's GONNA. That's the Italian spot. I hotel by sky or is sky. I'm not sure the YEA exactly I haven't been to. I've been to Zuma By I haven't been there I got check it out. He just went he just went to dynegy's in New York trump. Yeah Donald Angie's the recommendation on now and now. Have you ever done the tasting menu? Never scissor I'm zoo. I you callback. On this grisly casually dine it Michelin Three Star to the phone is an ongoing jokes. Other come on a lot of restaurants. They legit are the restaurants in the world. And it's the thing that were both interested in. Jj does more than I do and he. So you just went to the French laundry over all star and we went to a place Chicago Linnea but part of the reason why we did this. Cheap eats thing earlier was I was basically like everybody listens to this. Show his friends a hundred dollars. You know once every like eight months like it's not. It's not a constant thing. People are concerned. I'm going broke this. This is the new in my tasting menu. Budget runs into the tens of thousands did using wins at Michigan. Yeah Yeah Epilepsy. The as Detroit airport which is crazy. I didn't know that. Yeah I mean everyone. Everyone loves the. If you're come into Michigan for like Short Stretcher Ann Arbor. Everyone always goes through there. I mean it's really good. Now my opinion. It's a little over hyped. But did you go to football games did? Yeah we always had like so. I never got like tailgate. Football Games. 'cause we had always had like recruiting tailgates coated beyond was very deliberate about that. Like he didn't want us we'd have like a lift before like host crews and then we go to the game so the Games would started noon and we would have an eleven am pickup with recruits. Yeah and you're like how I can't fit a tailgate into that can't do it can we? We would actually. We would have like a eight thirty or nine am lift In then we'd maybe have practiced but this is not a Saturday on a Saturday morning. Yeah but Dan the good part of that was no wonder the cavs were so mad. Game the game. You're free kidding. I loved John. I really do if John had. I told I told coach beyond this when we played the cavs the first time does before the All star break and I was like dude. I tell people this all the time but if you had been at like a Michigan or Uva like. He was at Richmond. When I was in high school I was like I probably I might not have gone Duke. I love assessment. When you try to recruit your Richmond so we did team camp there two summers before junior before my senior year we did team camp in like Jovita for high school. And that's how I met him and he was basically like. Hey Anna you're not gonNA come but you can come if you want. Yeah but his son. His son was the same years. I was Patrick Patrick. So what was the New Hampshire? Y- I mean the unfortunate thing about I mean first of all not great. I'll lead with that The unfortunate thing about New England is that there's really no like public high school basketball scene. Most people go to like the prep schools. Which is taught because like you you lose the atmosphere of like you know a rivalry or like pack jam because it's like prep schools with like three hundred four hundred students and you know there's no like locals or anything they really. WanNa come in support so that was tough. I mean I totally missed out on having that type of like. I'm sure you probably put in front of pack gyms in highschool odd something. I was always like envious by. I've been Did you see our intros. The other night Know which night which the guy from Barstool Pat Pat Nagging. Vdi ACUFF OUR interest. The news good did are starting lineup. And he said he said a bunch of crazy stuff like with Lonzo ball. Who's like in his family? You did a reality television show Lithuania from UCLA. Tall is good but about Zion. He is and he's been dunking on little white kids on the Internet. For eight years that's Aw- Zion High School highlights and I gotta say the competition level in South Carolina to see Diculeng nodded to him on the on the show. We think we might have realized right before we realize like a while before was he played with jaw you and so like they were just and they weren't even apparently there's another guy in the team that was better than both of them when they were playing but like the idea of those three layers teaming up against anybody's just insanity though you'd up you put one year. I watch those old games occasionally. I have some like old film Where did you grow height wise? It was like so I was five. Six is a freshman. I grew like three inches every year for four years. Straight sixes senior But I li- I went through some tough stretches I couldn't run. I was like uncoordinated. I was so skinny Just took me a while. I was growing so fast. Just took a while to catch up Yourself how to run. Well maybe not a bunch of question for you is the same way like in this. Not Pandering where does this rank in terms of recent.

"Welcome to the. Jj Ready podcast. Very strange circumstances they were recording this under but the world is very strange right Tommy. Mary scratch a lot is happening. Too weak man a lot of change in a week. We're GONNA get to our guest a little later we recorded a podcast with Duncan Robinson about five minutes after we recorded our podcast with Jimmy Butler. So that podcast was shot in recorded two weeks ago. It's a lot of. It may seem slightly irrelevant given. What's going on with the Corona Virus? We're GONNA ride and we hope that you guys enjoy it. I thought I thought Dunkin was again. I guess it was fun. It was station. We're going to be serious for a few minutes and then we'll get to Maybe maybe a little bit of a just a basketball centered escape for the listener. So yes a lot is a lot has happened for all of us in the last In the last seven or eight days. Can you walk us through Your Day last Wednesday? So that was he day where Delete officially decided to shut down first of all before we ever got to be. They announced that the nets in the warriors were GonNa play the next night with no fans know in talking with guys. We were all very curious to see how that game was gonNA look on television Viewing experience was going to be like in talking to our head trainer. Aaron Nelson as people in our front office. It became apparent that if there was a positive test for an NBA player. That they would. It was inevitable they were GonNa shut the league now. That was like one positive test. Shut me down. So we're at the arena. There is probably somewhere sixty or seventy on the clock. I can't I can't remember the exact time on the clock but we meet at Thirty Eight on the countdown clock where it nationally televised game. So the other. Espn game was on the locker room. I'll send it flips to whatever's going on with okay see jazz and there's you know the byline of player quarantine or they're testing. A player comes out a few minutes later that it's really good bear. He's tested positive out. I was standing next to our PR guy and will and within like three minutes. He had a memo from the League. If the lead been suspended so at this point you know there's like you know fifty forty five on the clock. We're getting ready to do our meeting. And they're telling us we have to play I it. All Games are are suspended except for those games. At night I think for most guys. It was a little surreal you know. We're we're watching like a team doctor sprint across the floor. Stop Stop Game just as you're getting ready to tip it off and we ended up at thirty eight. Having a normal meeting. Alvin said a few things. Let's go out and play but you could tell like we were all a little. We're all shook man. It was a weird feeling for sure. And then you know we finish our meeting at twenty five o'clock at about twenty on the clock light. We're all just kind of sitting there and nobody's really like bad anxious to go out on the court there's twenty thousand fans out there I think we're all now. Where's even two or three days? Prior all mouse sorta sort of grasping the severity of of this virus and and the seriousness of this virus that maybe we didn't quite get a week. Prior and the League had been good about providing guidance and the teams were meeting with us and giving US information. But you know that's when it became very serious and then we're getting ready to go out. Finally to the hallway to prayer for warm ups and Air Nelson Sprints through the locker room to try to find David Griffin. And that's when we found out Courtney Kirkland Jazz game so then we were having a conversation. The locker room like you know. I don't think it's safe to play. No one felt like it was safe to play at the. Nba made his play. We would but I know a lot of guys expressed concern that they didn't they didn't feel like it was safe to go way. Not just for us but before it for anyone. Anybody that was in that arena. Were you guys in contact with anybody from the outside world while this was happening like were you getting texts or calls or anything. I mean I was texting with my family. I guess you know Chelsea and close friends and my brother and parents and sisters and stuff like that. I texted C. P. later that night probably now or two after you know we had left the arena and he either just left the arena was just getting ready to leave. The arena had been tested. They said you could go. Did they test you guys now us? I don't think there was a reason to test Yeah what I know. There's no link from our team. Are Traveling Party to sort of any of the other teams that have had positive tests so far but yeah so you know we we. We'RE SUPPOSED TO GO TO UTAH are utilize our next game right in. We're supposed to Utah at night. Had We had to wait till eleven pm but we took the red eye back to New Orleans. Thursday was kind of a nothing day Friday. We came in and by this time Friday. You're realizing across the country like this is getting pretty serious in in by Sunday. I think pretty much everyone in the country that followed his avant. This realize like. There's there's a definitive need for for isolation and social distancing a little bit of self self quarantining if if you're feeling symptoms and all that and I think everybody sort of gets. The semi unite talked a bunch of the last few days. I know you're taking this very seriously. Yeah it's well I think one of the things which is just incredible about what sort of happened over. The last week is just how fast everything has happened. But but both how fast how slow everything seemed like every day feels like it's a week was all the news and everything like that but you know we were together. New Orleans last weekend and I don't think anybody thought that this was a possibility it wasn't that don't pay attention to the news. You know we just. It's just the possibility that I was. I kept saying like early last week. Even probably the weekend prior to two. Wednesday night last Wednesday. I was like yeah I mean it. Sounds like it's inevitable that at some point where were playing in an empty arena dough wearing my mind was I like this. Thing is getting shut down much less the entire sports industry the entire service industry. It's it's insane. Country basically entire country other than other than the Amazon Warehouses. Yeah other dams on warehouses drove. I drove. I left New Orleans. I wanted to be with my family in a place where I felt was safe. Where DID UNDISCLOSED LOCATION RIGHT NOW? But I left. I left New Orleans in and drove basically twenty one hours straight. I stopped slept for a few hours. It was incredible and be how many tractor trailers around the highway. Who else was to walk us through because we talked a lot during that drive but walk everybody through doing that because that's a that's a unique. You're not alone in that. But not very many people have been on a trek like that over the last week in fact most of opening the opposite which is just hunkering down wherever they are well. Decision for us was like do we stay in New Orleans? Louis goes somewhere else and you know part of the issue for us and you know a lot of people have issue. If you live in an apartment we live in a apartment in. New Orleans is not a very big and we have two kids two boys under six during the park nearby. Nowhere really walk around that area. That safe it's downtown and so you know there's there's IT'S NEW ORLEANS. There's going to be traffic. There's going to be cars coming in and out. There's no way for us to like really hunker down there and stay saying so we decided you know if the NBA would allow US lever home city. We had a safe place to go. Let's go to that place. I think I drove through like eleven states. It was it was an interesting trip you know. I got to see a lot of America. I feel like those tractor trailers. What else tractor-trailers. Like legitimately seventy five percent of the traffic was tractor trailers. And you just and you just you just cycled calls feels like the whole time. I listened to some posit. Ask none of them. None of our own. I did listen to some podcasts. And then I I caught up on some calls I think you and I talk like four times. Well the thing is upsetting up sitting at home doing nothing and that's what everybody is doing. So you're you're like I hope I'm not bothering you. Bother me of sitting there watching these press conferences watching the paint dry. There's nothing going on. I was very strategic in stopping for gas and I really didn't eat on the trip because I didn't. I didn't want to go to a place that I felt like was unsanitary. So there is a lot of like a stash egos in almonds a nickel but I did have to stop one time to get gas and We had like one thing of paper towels bounty paper towels that we put in the car and I put it for whatever reason in the front seat sticking on my bad heck out as soon as I pulled in. The gas station is woman. Was SMOKING CIGARETTE GAS AGENT. Which isn't always the safest thing but she smoking a cigarette at the gas station. K. Would you get that house like When I get what toilet paper. It's a paper towel but I got that in New Orleans and then she asked me are you. She asked me where I was going. And I and I told her. And she's like are you in the military or something and I didn't know if that was code for the toilet. Paper is serious man. I'm not laughing about this. Because it was a very surreal Question to be asking someone at two o'clock in the morning But it the toilet paper situation food. I mean people freaking out man. How are you handling the and I think this question? Everybody has for themselves. How are you handling the anxiety of hesitancy to what's going on but then also not watching the news all day? I feel like when I was in New Orleans. I just wasn't anything else to do so I was looking at my phone all day long. Which wasn't healthy. We started homeschooling the kids this morning. Which great man. Great morning meeting with a word of the day. Today's word of the day was respect and then we learned the meaning of the word how it applies to each kid's life. Doesn't this gives you so much more? I know you had this to begin with this. Gives you so much? More of a respect for teachers have told. I told Chelsea your sister this morning. I said you guys should have teachers. They're amazing Matt. Knox and I did a math lesson. This morning I think I might do geography with them later this afternoon. There's a lot of people talk about respect. I have a lot of respect. I'm always idolized An educator's but a lot of people that specifically in the service industry that are are really hurting right now. I know down in New Orleans. A lot of the the restaurant owners restaurant tours are pleading with with donor. Edward is to provide some sort.

"Welcome to this week's episode of the JJ PODCASTS FOR TOMMY. Alter we are here in San Francisco California It's right after all star break. The pelicans played in Portland last night. Tommy Tommy bad baby. What did you do over all star break? Did you go I was in I was in sky was about four degrees? I got in Thursday night. I had to work One of the shows I work on the shop was taping Saturday so I had to be there had to be there for Saturday. Got In Thursday night About I don't know six seven o'clock coming from L. A. So coming from sixty five degrees in Balmy. Get off the plane I realized it never face mask and I needed one for how cold it was but the city was great. Was I would say I mean. I'm curious what you thought about the whole change in process in terms of the game itself because everybody seemed to love it. I'm going to be completely honest with you. I was at the French laundry when the All Star game was going on. A lot of people are curious about the French laundry. I should also I should mention. We're going to be joined by my teammate. Drew Holiday here in a little bit But first French laundry. What do you want to know about it? Everything everything first question is. What is your walking into the restaurant What's it like? Well it's a it's like a old stone building In the middle of Bill it which is in the Napa Valley It's a it was a very tiny building and they've obviously renovated and added on C walk into the main building and they've redone the kitchen. Since the last time I was there I'd probably eaten there five or six times now and So we got a tour of the kitchen and then they took us through the wine cellar on the way to this. Private Room called the Board Room. And and and here's the thing. Here's the thing they. They walked me through the wine cellar at the French laundry. It's like it's like walking a sneaker head through like the greatest shoe closet in the World Michael Jordan's as you get to the end. They're like by the way later on. We're going to give you a menu and you could pick out the shoes you I mean it was just. I got to sample the goods right then and there. It's crazy it was amazing. How how big is the restaurant itself accounting? I think we're in there So it's to. The building is two stories. It was an old like literally an old laundry mat. I think but it's I would send a on a on a nightly basis in there. There's probably like twenty five or thirty tables tops. They're like small tables there. It's very intimate thing. And then the board room had a circular table and there were eight of us there. How how long is the total meal? So they they condense the meal a little bit. We took our time. I would say it was a little over two hours but I mean I've been there before where it's like a three and a half hour marathon. I had a I had experience. All-star Break Twenty fifteen at eleven Madison Park. That was like four and a half hours. What's too long? What do you think is what at? What point are you like? I need to lead. Well what's like a normal night out as an hour and a half normal highs leisurely dinner with a leisurely pace is anywhere between ninety minutes to two hours two hours after two and a half hours. You're you're serving again so I we. We did the supplements. It was a very when in Rome moment yet and they had They had black truffles and they had a beef. So we did the supplements. The whole experience is great. The service the Food Odyssey's did anyone anyone else in the group She went with her. They ever been before Few people had actually. Yeah I think The five of eight people had been Chelsea in Kylie had been a bunch The other couple had been a couple times and then my brother-in-law in the last couple. Where does it rank on the list? So here's my thing for of let's say in the United States for for tasting menu places I e eleven Madison Park French laundry Alenia. Where we just dined. Yes French laundry has always been the most consistently great experience. So I kind of have us and it was the first place that it was my Aha moment with food. Back in two thousand ten I ate there got married. The first one of those you've been to and it was the first one so I had this very soft sponsoring I death. Exactly what what You have you. Have you eaten there for now? Never never so for those that. Don't French laundry is like the sort of the og like French tasting menu in the US. That like sort of revitalized American fine. Dining I would say in the early two thousand. I think they started ninety. Nine two thousand and two is number one restaurant the world like multiple years in a row. Yeah Imus Keller ask where it is in less now because I've just retired at the new list the new list. They I think they started this this year. If you've been number one in the hall of Fame Yeah you're out. Yeah that's so interesting. How different was the men? You from the first time to now incredibly different and it was. It was a like a shorter menu. Bugs like staples or anything. That's always there. There's like LINNEA desert. Yes this Cotton candy sort of. It's almost impossible to describe. You've been google photos online. But that's the one thing that they always have art that they throw on the table. Basically I throw it on the table. Draw this painting on the table and then like this desert but that's the one constant is the rest of constantly changing but they always have that desert. There's always a cone filled with something. I E SMOKED. Salmon with creme fraiche or a like a puree whatever's in season right. There's always a cone little tiny like amuse Bouche if you will I hate my French by the way and then There's always the the oysters and pearls. Which is like a poached oyster with caviar. In Like A. I don't know that the French word but it's like sort of a cream custody sauce. Do you know this is you might under the answer this question. Do you know if there's anyone else in the league. It's been French laundry. Oh I'm sure yeah I average high so expensive house there. Oh He's not leading but I think there's guys yeah for sure what I'm sure Lebron like. Yeah because if you guys if you spend time up there. I think Josh Heart. Maybe a bit Jimmy. Butler is Ben. Yeah any of the wind guys. I bet just because if you're just a wine person in general it's yeah. Did you feel like relaxed after the break? I felt super relaxed. Actually we so we went to. We stayed at this House and Cinema With just insane views and we had some good wine we actually took it like Friday. We did a couple tastings and probably got out of hand at about four PM but other than that which is very right. Yeah it was like a very relaxed Saturday and Sunday. We just kind of chilled. And you know we knew at you know. We wanted to sort of be at our best on Sunday night French laundry. Yeah and so we kinda pace ourselves really well and I I. It was one of the best. It was one of the best trips I've done in the. Us for shots amazing. I have to say you know this is going to sound kind of crazy. But you could speak to this because you've been through it. I feel a little bad for the guys that have to do all star weekend because it's not fun for them. I mean you are the Games and the events and everything like that aside which you're clearly working and not only are you working. You're doing it. On the highest stage with actually a huge amount of pressure like doing something like the Dunk Contest. Three point contest but the whole weekend is just. It's appearances and it's this and it's at and you're getting dragged from like from every every ten seconds and that's not even mentioning the fact and this is a nice thing but hundreds of thousands of fans come to the city for this and so they're looking for you and so can't really going to go anywhere and so it's the idea that you can just get away from all of that for five days and basically be like. I don't even want to think about anything that I had to deal with before I know I'm going to have to deal with in a week is kind of a nice thing that was my. I Did. The three point contest twice The year it was in New York and then the year that it was in Toronto. Which is the the number one coldest all star weekend ever? I think this weekend was number. Two Toronto Yeah But the big takeaway was just how exhausting it was. I wasn't even an all star. I was just shooting a basketball. For Sixty seconds. Yeah it was like your entire day is you're just in a car going somewhere and other parents immediate thing. It's it was totally exhausted and I'll be honest like I got asked you know if I was interested in doing the three point contest this year. I politely passed as I've done fully quickly as I've done a couple of times since the last time I've done it I did it But I I kind of set in two thousand sixteen. I was like look. I'm I'm never going to do this again. I had two chances. I set the record for long twos and a three point contest in two thousand fifteen. I made four long twos with my toe on the line and sixteen. You know I had a chance to get to the second round and I didn't and I'll move on did you see any of the highlights of the dunk. This yes I did and I Erin. Gordon should definitely one. I don't know definitely. It was a pre insane. But I don't I don't I just saw that the highlights out of sequence Derek Jones. Junior is on another planet. They both are but like. I can't believe how powerful and clean. These guys are dunking. Yeah I I I re watched Dominique and Jordan go at it in the eighty eight dunk contest. Were those dunks are just like they're like four xlt now wild how these guys are felt that actually for the judges they? I don't think they knew what they were getting. This I mean how could they have? They just kept going. The thing was operating at such a high level that there's weirdly pressure on them. We're doing a ranking later. Jj tremendous to look so so You guys were taping this on Saturday. You guys played Portland last night. Anyone and Zion good. Yeah like T- you're you're coming. I mean people forget how games you played with a healthy group. And we'll talk about this withdrew censor your game losing streak where eighteen and ten. We have a I would call it a favorable schedule if if you can call it that I mean you have to stop the play. Nba Teams in NBA players. Yeah I think if you're looking at BPI all that stuff. Whatever strength schedule H- index were. Were one of the three or four Easiest or favorable what most favorable schedules left So we have a chance. We have a chance or four games back as of today in the loss column to Memphis and we have a chance so so a couple playing. We have two more time so we have a chance up. We have a chance. Let's do these candles. You want to say so this this Houston Astros cheating screen. Just a crazy scandal. That won't go away will not go away and we're not my where. I don't WanNa talk about it too much but I we just had this idea like let's talk about the two rankings of sports cheating scandals.

"Of hype around. But he's an unbelievable kid be joined by Zion Williamson. Uh All right. We are now joined by my Pelicans. Teammate a lot of people know this Guy Zion Williamson legend in the legend in the building. We were just talking but this is this is the first podcast you've ever done. I one I feel like this is like a rookie key duty that you're fulfilling for me like the vet asking the rookie to do something. This is you coming on my pod. A low. I haven't done what have I done. I have not asked you to do anything right. Not I think we have the easiest rookie duties out of the entire league. What's he like as a teammate? That's good interesting question I think it depends on what situation you act saw off the court you can learn a lot from him and I'm not in any he answered Learn from through his thirteen fourteen fourteen. Fourteen years of experience on the court. You can see it at all. He's it's been great teams in. He knows what it takes to win. I think the first series moment I have. Jj was a first time in locker room. There's Mia him he's like on thirteen. Thirteen life a mess this up for you. Don't don't fuck I said the what were the stories like. Did you ever get duke stories. Oh yeah. Did you hear the gender stories about her. A lot of stuff. Good depending on who you are. I'm sure coach. CATES said some. Good things about me Coach case a lot of great things about you on you know coach K.. Waves tantalus you know J. Radical Dude. If you work hard you can make the League six four White Guy. They see originally. I feel like he's Kinda knocking. My skill level honestly rookie thing. Quick first of all I feel like we as a team team have not really made you guys do a lot of stuff. There's no nothing ridiculous. There's been no popcorn in anyone's cars. Nobody's wearing pink. Hello Kitty Eighty book bags right. What is the what? What is the one thing that me? And the Commission of vets. That we you said has to be done. What is the one thing? The one thing I said it has to be done is the rug is just have to bring chick-fil-a onto the plane sued by rookies. Have to bring chick and I was very specific about the rules. About chick-fil-a they're it's only expected to be on the plane on a fly out day right either when we have practice. Or we're leaving New Orleans right. Maybe meet at the plane. Two o'clock practice the plane at one. Whatever what happened today? What happened today You know I actually saying question. I still walked onto the plane. Everybody was already already there. I think I was the last one and I didn't see any chick-fil-a out I started looking at like. We're all the rookie. Say say already grows Meli Jaksa say killed a man. There's no way I'm GonNa see on the side like play it off see if anybody notices and then I hear. Jj Let's see when they get those per diem was going to happen. I'm like you know I'm just kind of the for. DMZ had already been passed out. By the time I found out there was no chick-fil-a but the next trip next week I think everybody's pretty for the trip is like six hundred fifty dollars you multiple that by four. That's twenty six hundred dollars. That's about a technical foul so I feel like that's a fair fine for this time missing the Chick-fil-a so this is your first podcasts. Do people I don't feel like people don't know a lot about you. Obviously the basketball the dunking they know that part of it. How would you describe yourself off the court? And I'M A goofy character. Who likes to have a lot of fun? But they come more mature. I act from Ireland Age. Decent part of why you're mature is you were thrown into the spotlight. Mr Young Age That is a big reason. Why in an I think my parents is preparing me for the NBA? No it is a dream come true through but got understand. The end today says the cut-throat League. You you don't know what can happen when when when when you were like your sophomore when like you're sorta the clip started going everywhere. Anything like that. I was a junior junior. was there it was I was GONNA ask. was there a moment because like we. I grew up where there was like Bob. Gibbons and rankings rankings and you know if you got really good. Maybe make the McDonald's game but like there was no instagram and they're certainly shout over time but they're certainly wasn't overtime that was posting clips types. You could go access right. It was like a specific moment or game or clip. Where you're like? Oh I'm a big deal We'll say my junior year in this Slow Small Jimmy Columbia South Carolina Church gyms in a scored forty seven points but nobody cared about that part. It was the three or four like nasty dunks that I did that over time. Ball's lively mix tapes famous lows. All of them got their hands on and I went from this number twelve from Spartanburg Augsburg Day. Two sixteen year old. It looks like a grown man. Yeah you know like right when you got off the court that was happening or do you like find out after the fact My friends people around me. They kind of got more hype for me. It was yeah dude. I was like watching Glamour in Highschool School at a certain my junior year start off with three thousand followers and the season As a season would go on kids will look at my desk. I'm like dude. You picked up six thousand followers in this like one class period. That's crazy like any will tally. How many I'd pick up after a while? It was like all right man just instagram blacks. So sort of interested in this. You're talking about clearly just based off of everything you've done so far on and off the court you just carry yourself the level of maturity and just like did you your parents aside like how do you I. There's so many examples of kids who get that sort of well. No not even just in sports and everything kind of throws them off. You know because like I think about like myself when I was that age I was a dip shit and famous. I know what I mean like. There's just it's so easy to do when you're young kids so like how are you had to be like okay. It's just instagram. You know what I mean when so many kids it it gets to them in either way like what do you think that was. Honestly I think is just social media. Thanks so's I think people will allow social media dictate their opinions more than they should. And I mean I'm just playing a game I love. I know people say as according to answer as cheesy but I just genuine love basketball so long as I get to do that. I'm fine I I remember when these clips started becoming viral and every few days something right. Umbrellas live for her over time. You'd see it on Instagram House. Highlights would put something up. Zion did this tonight or whatever and I remember thinking to myself like. Oh that's great but like can this guy actually play right and then you committed to Duke and now they are probably pretty good if he committed to just get but do you. Do you feel like Mike Vince. Carter used to talk about this early in his career. But like you're known for like a singular athletic feet right the dunk right but there's so much much more to you as a player. Does that ever bother you. It's funny you said it actually did bother me a little bit. Jesus Christ I they do something other than I had to get. Ram Somehow and it's part of the reason why I went to Duke Coach Kane. I mean he saw everything but to dunks generosity dot. He saw every other part of my game that I want the world to see and I meant something to me. I said on play for a coach. Rex He knows my game. Who knows does how much value our brain to think for coach K.? To see that me meant to lock is the whole thing. I was like not getting fifty points Australia. dunks like yeah can't happen. Did you grow up a Duke Fan. We've kind of talked about this. I'm willing to always say I never was really like a fan of like not but I did grow up by watching. You Nolan Shire It was it was crazy. 'cause I was looking at the kill kill. You realize I did halfway. Jj did but he just did it from beyond the ARC. I did it like layoffs like getting to the remnants of he did it all thanks. I think three's it was crazy. Did you you played a you with Joh- yeah play with jaw when we were like nobody's Freshman year summer in his sophomore summer. How good was that me and We were like the role players I try hi what who are the stars. You guys are the number one pick in the draft. We were at the role players with people. Don't know is is a do. That goes the old minutes now. devante Schuler like in South Carolina. He was the guy I remember what morale used to play with them. I'm playing up age group. I'm watching him. Tailing man is douches going coast to coast finishing pulling up transition three like he's curry interested in ninth grade. Nobody knows who I am. He the top thirty nation just a certified bucket in giants. Look at each other. Sometimes man came along long way. Why no US switching from high school to do what do you think the biggest challenge was and then I'm GonNa ask obviously haven't played yet this year but in terms of preparation that for this as well the beach From high school to do with the amount of talent I was surrounded by In High School. If you're the guy like you can never be threatened and be on the bench. Just not GONNA have. y'All got the duke where RJ RJ. Cameron ranked in front of me. And I'm like man. He's Gaza early. I'm looking can-like Cam. Your Tracy McGrady Deep Penny Hardaway. Lights massacre like cameras so cold and RJ The dog he was that dude. I'm looking at it like other players. Luke Trae Jack Javadi you know. He played for coach K.. Your role change from high school to College. Obviously but he he can make it in a way to where somebody off the bench shoot. Nobody knew about could come in and take your spot and he always made like that. I think it always happy. Edged always stay prepared. We'll be ready if he ever bent you. Did you ever get bench. For duration time mind was during the summer summer workouts. On before your freshman Jason. Yeah we were summarize. Do a he has the white team in the blue team. Always with the white team. But I I think it it was like a week span. When putting whenever we scrimmage he'd go all right Zee on the Blue Team I you know nothing against him? But you're like wait. What the secretary to but he did it for a reason he plays so he plays mind games so well he said I just wanted to bring the beast avenue like he felt like I was holding back because I had other stars are on me him putting you on the blue team really made me come out of my shell and attack attack? Those guys always make my presence on the court. I was GONNA say just in general. This has nothing to do with coach K.. But for for any like coach to tell you to switch your practice this jersey color is literally the greatest mind fuck ever dogs like. If you're on the second team you get switched to the first team you're like ooh resisted. I do something right and vice versa. Like oh am I getting demoted. Like what is going on. Sometimes they just want to see a lineup combination. That's all they they wanna see but especially they like the summer. You such a such a sort of like high profile high hype summer and all of a sudden you're like how has the daily preparation nation as a pro. How has that been because it's different obviously than high-school college is your only sort of thing you do? This is your job. And how is that daily preparation daily routine ben for you. It preparations completely different In College you.

"Of the most important conversations. If your life I'm swell giant giant all Jesse depending on when he catch them because they identify as gender fluid I would say identify as non binary gender fluid person non binary so you don't feel entirely male or in tiny female any time not correct. Yeah I'm just make a person who just flirts between in the binary as police but useful quite dramatically. Now the way you say you are the present very mild or you present very famous. That's the choice. Yeah I do. And it's an open field because there's a lot of people who are non binary who will rarely rock a bit where Farah face of makeup and address for us us just not. I think everybody has their own style. Not really me. So what is you preferred to dress. Does it depend on the day. It kinda does I mean it's as with because biologically I was born male no obviously gun free male puberty and I'm now essentially a grown male adults for maybe a different life. I fo- may have been aware of stuff I am now. A may have transitioned as as a young child and now more feminine for Astill reckoner would be a non Viner is old. It's not it's not like you're saying it's too late transition. I certainly know people who are in the fifties sixties. It might say it's twenty twenty seven twenty seven. It's never too late. Never for I think for transition for people is unique to them in their circumstances and situation. I believe everyone has choice. Never run as a path and I'm happy with a life. I although maybe if a new now new then gunned down a different route. I don't want to on that route now because I'm happy the way things about pronouns which do you prefer like today Marla. densify would be offended of us who to Heo him. No not all I'm I think again. I think it's personal to the person. Everybody's so different. I have friends out there who is specifically they in them. They do not want to identify female. All male the strictly binary they sell they are a great person on the mound for teams. That have he's been around for her and it's quite interesting because a law languages don't even have gender in them Nothing Turkish is one. That is no he or she is no pronouns agenda but for me no I think a a lot of my life has been male dominated so for me to switch off. It's going to be a big adjustment for people could go their bought Ryan on. I'm just happy to to kind of go with. Hey Shay they manifest presenting like now if Aclu Heo him but he'll presenting is just the perfect he machine correct correct. Not that works with me. It's totally fine. I've been caught a lot worse fishbowl. So how do you think you when you first saw not like the boys's leases schools. As a child I knew from being small that was different. MADONNA COM address. New moms close as a small small small child. Old probably say three or four has elliot's I kind of sent me down a different path because the first reaction was to kind of make a joke and embarrassing Matt Him for not everyone is doing this and then as a child. You think it's wrong not allowed to do this. Issue shouldn't do that so but can you remember that about. Can you remember yet. What would it felt like when you just close a couple of talking just felt it was just something that I knew how to try and experience it was just I was just drawn ron to it like I come also drawn to play? Football are watching the box and all the AFC which is something that no matter how far away and I always was drawn to the feminine side of things as well. And how else did you express it though you say you you just closed because it was that old data until it got car and then I think it had a love. You've trans all gay people are LGBTQ. I people doing. That's run from who the I spent a lifetime being the complete opposite as a quote from the situation and so quite recently rather the past couple years rarely decided. I'm a grown person. Can face who I am so really sounds like you went from the ages four to about twenty five so of suppressing that side a hundred percent I think especially because it's for coming out stories for me Kahad to come out to myself before. Come out to anyone else. It was still a battle. I'm not list person. I can't do that You know always consumed by guilt and shame and fear of what other people think and then they just got to the point where I was lat long. Do nothing wrong. Good not hurting anybody. I'm just being me and expressing myself and it went from the era real. How did he manage the command to yourself? An certain for some people to spend too that she said it out loud beat themselves in the mirror. I actually don't know both the exact moment it was kind of. I went to a fancy dress party of friends and I want as as a female and I just knew that moment average out to Gordon then I was probably happier on that night than had been For a lot of overtime so I think it was after the Oklahoma Ryan needs to have a hot with myself as well. It was the people. How did it feel them when you were out this front suggest polity and you put a frog on a new actually in front of your friends and your partner in what what was supposedly fancy chest but it was more than that? Yeah it was it was it was definitely more at an allergist play the greedier and jokes about I enjoyed too much. I'm really I was just in my element. Let's different nice and this was literally a couple of years ago. Yeah my more my maybe about four or five years and the moments the first moment you went out and bought address for your cells and so I'm really kind of Pissy. The severely account ignores any longer maybe eighteen months ago two years ago I think I think my first Nile is. Jesse was about two years ago on Canal Street in the gay village in Manchester. The certainly was and it was great. Carell amazing I mean friends. We had to make a passage me as in movies com for the full. She's on for hours still so friends. As when I'm ready on. My mind might not be ready to leave the hotel. I might just end up staying in because I was scared. See did it with friends and so you felt comfortable enough to tell people and yet well I say friends friends. Who was who's going on free similar stuff too? I was a giant social media and that gave me a whole new world of connection and all the people that was kind of when I also come to as myself because that social media people color themselves even if nobody else knows about it so I know plenty of people who are closeted on social media for their themselves on the social media just the rest of the people who don't know no he. The are pretty interesting so you came out to strangers essentially to begin with. Yeah pretty much. Yeah and in fact twitter's been important for thing doesn't it. Just this gave me a place to belong From all them years of you know being scattered telling friends or family off feeling the along with my own mind joined twitter original originalist to venture. There was other people like me and then it just opened up a whole new kind of williamson kind of caught some followers and and people let let me just tell you justice being called Jessie J. Either I get called called Jesse. Jj gesture the law Gal saw also. But you don't mind then fine as a man to let today your mail presenting say Jj. But then if I were to meet you in the evening in your old frock. How'd you have flowing with your mazing makeup? Probably anyway what was going to say was yes. Jj you say you've got some followers on twitter about eighty thousand Disner not quite much now for about seven so I think it's a lot. How did you get that many of that? Many people on twitter. It's a interested in your story. I think I think I mean the thing that I found was it gave me a place to belong and then as I become more confident kind of grown grown with the journey and a half people message Malalai followed you. When you want one follower all you know one hundred followers and now to see the journey through twitter has been quite incredible for them but also also through that platform? I've had so many people message me and say a married to a beautiful woman of kids all over this side account Salam. I don't know how to I know you've managed to do it. Can you help me do that. So it's been quite interested in seeing how many people want the support issues story so so tell us what that was like what you'll home situation. Yes Oh I'm happily married to a beautiful woman. I have two beautiful children and I have a really supportive. Liberal family moments great numbers brothers a grey. The everyone's been great reeler for I think I was. I was trapped in the prison of my own. Mind affair of coming out to them. ABSO- I came out to my wife life and that was after the fancy dress party of you know I was like this is serious any of this chat now. I know at the time I was fully prepared to lose my wife in terms. uh-huh of I didn't know how she will take. You know it's a big thing to say to somebody that I think a might lie. LACERRA might be gender fluid. I'm not sure what it is at at didn't know what her reaction was Osborne. New to go forward we had to be honest. And how did he phrase it on gender fluid Noah. I mean I'd never even heard of those terms by that I just it just explain the situation. I was just lie. We did this lawn. Suggest part in for me it felt amazing and explain the life of fellow bit different and how was racing on my chest and take her and she was amazing before she was like well. You know you still you still love for the person you also will go on the journey together and and that's where all started real pretty lucky. Thanks let's say you were really scared that you'd looser and she's been amazing Stola wardrobe now. She steals my but yeah now she's just been an incredible rock even fruit telling people and coming out with the people. She's always been she's offered to you know. Speak to people on my behalf. If that's been something of wanted today but rarely she's been great because it is a big thing and Jessica is not really the person she met. But we've we've made that she met. Jj who is your jj today. You go quite lots double emulsified gear on came in with Moscow. It's got and you blow key. Got Quite placate you up. I'm Agus Engineer Engineer. It's not like sort of gay booker jobs as sort. Yeah Feminine Room Now. I think that's I took a lot of people by surprise because I'm not like people assume you to be. You know eccentric ALCOM Tom. Paul flamboyant authentic found. This is not the case where the people are just then. Is it a case then because you say you just almost like another person news. It's almost like you've got to separate identity is weird kind of because it's a really difficult one the situation. I'm enough now still with my career and children. I'm still in the early stages of figuring out where it needs to be and where it's going to go So I'm just kind of keeping them a little bit separate just just for now while things panacea out you know just recently at like an x group of friends find out and stuff of who you know. Didn't take as well as a close people that and it's just insulate themselves down on the dosages and kind of figure out where I need to go kind of. Put them in Sacra boxes but for me. I may doesn't allow although I'm Jay Jay and I'm just as much Jessica so yeah I think he's TEPA that must've of her either knows people just not accepting just they don't understand it plus you. Yeah now I mean I've so much love and support around men and you know these people leave tries to mock me ever each about fight on them so I'm not really I'm I'm not to foster baller. I'm what about your kids. Because they're quite young to wear that or not really so my youngest is two so she's She's an angel. She she doesn't understand yet. GonNa pull out of the male this now which Wanna I met. You hadn't oh she's eight on a Before kind of probably came out of on. I did a fall to shoot my friend Patrick and he did some amazing photos and that was one back. I'M GONNA show people these and I shall enlighten me mother-in-law and a few of the people before they knew the full extent and just kind of told them a wildlife that was helping open a friend out and he's gone up in business and I offered to them so we show them a local the picture and she was quite well. That's amazing she. Kits are innocent. They're the only know what the tall So she she got it great and then at the CIA maybe month and a half ago. Hello and that was it was..
