Some interesting stories and a brand new segment that we'll talk about a little bit into this week's episode, one that I'm super excited about. It is pretty funny. You have to hang around for that one folks. Too bad Craig's not here because he would love this one. Yeah, right up his alley. It is. Let's get started. Quick chat about the market. October finishing today, still sitting around the 35 ,000 mark where we were this time last week. That's right, Trace. We cracked $50 ,000 Australian dollars per Bitcoin. So, you know, I think we can say that the bear market might be over. I have been a bit of a bear and I'm feeling bullish, so yeah. Is it up only from here mate? I know November is notoriously a bad month, so we'll see. I'm feeling good, but yeah, it's pointing in the right direction. I think it all comes off the back of, you know, the speculation about the Bitcoin ETF. There's been more registrations for the tickers on the clearing system for the NASDAQ, which is where the Bitcoin ETFs will be listed for trading. Which suggests that the players that will be managing these ETFs are already preparing all of the groundwork for their product to be listed and traded. So there's nine all up potential and we will know by the 10th of January, so getting closer and closer. That's it. Let's move on to our first story, Blake. A FTX exchange is getting closer to its restart. The FTX are reportedly evaluating three proposals for its relaunch, with the final decision expected mid -December. The move, which follows discussions around a potential restart of the exchange, could be crucial for refunding those customers who lost money during its shutdown. Although the bidders' names remain undisclosed, potential options look to include a total sale of the exchange, a partnership or an independent relaunch by FTX. Although the latter, I'm told, is probably not going to happen. So it's interesting to see the timing of this as well. Obviously, we know the trials going on. What do you think? This is obviously good news for the customers. Yeah, you know, we spoke about this with Jax when we had him on as a guest. It's a great opportunity to restart a great business or at least the platform and the user experience and the product was great. And yeah, hopefully all the creditors get paid back in full and then people were happy with the product. There were millions of users on there, so they might be able to restart the business. Because obviously the funds get given back onto the exchange so that people decide to keep them on there, take them off. Correct, yeah. And interesting to see who those bidders are, those last three. Well, I think we had some leaks early on that there were large financial institutions like trading houses and banks. We'll see what deal comes of that one. Next up, according to new research, more tokens are being staked than ever. According to State, their latest report told us, staking rates for the top 35 proof of stake currencies hit a record high of 52 .4 % in quarter three. Marking an increase from the previous quarter of 49 .3%. The report also found the networks with the highest staking rates were Aptos, Su, Minasilana and Cosmos. However, these higher staking rates led to a decrease in staking yields with an average yield dropping to 10 .2%. Blake, do you want to explain a little bit more about this to the listener and why that drop in yield occurs? Yeah, of course. So, you know, these layer one blockchains and sometimes layer two chains, they incentivise their token holders to stake their tokens to validate transactions on the network. So it's kind of like a clearinghouse, they're lending their computing power and they're staking a financial incentive to say that, hey, we're trustworthy, we should be allowed to verify your transactions on the network. And this contributes to the security and the robustness as well as the availability of the blockchain. So as a result, the fees that you pay with your transactions on the blockchain go... Towards that yield. But there is a yield curve. And what I mean by that is that the more people that stake, the safer the network becomes. And that means proportionally, everyone will get a smaller percentage of the total fees that are being generated by the network. When there are less people staking, there's a larger incentive for more people to stake because people are getting proportionally more rewards on the network. So blockchains some have your higher rewards, others have less. I think Ethereum... Yeah, what's with Ethereum then? You're getting about four and a half percent per annum, probably not too dissimilar to what you would get in a bank account. And then you're contributing, it's kind of like a term deposit, you're contributing to the success of the network. What's interesting though is that Ethereum is on the lower end of total tokens staked proportional to the tokens on issue. With only about 22 % of all tokens on the Ethereum network being staked and validating transactions. So this is a slow process, but I think that overall, we can expect that these numbers increase over time as the tooling and the infrastructure for easy staking becomes available. Because there are risks associated with it. If you mess it up, you could lose your coins. Yeah, that is a little bit risky. Well, it's still a bit of a return on the bank, obviously. Yeah, that's right. If you're putting in a term deposit, it's quite similar. Okay, interesting. Well, we can put a link to that report in the show notes if everyone wants to read it. That's a good idea. Let's do that. We'll pop that in there for anyone that wants to delve a little further into staking. Moving on for an update on the SBF trial. In an unusual move, Sam Bankman -Fried was questioned without the jury present. We weren't sure whether he was actually going to stand and be questioned himself, but he was. While answering questions from both the defense and the prosecution, they asked the jury to leave. This is last Friday that this happened, and apparently the judge wanted to have a conversation with just him on his own. So this happened last Friday break, but then he was on the stand again yesterday, correct? Correct, yes. Then yesterday, he took the stand to be questioned again and by both his lawyer and by the prosecution. SBF had largely offered vague responses to date, often stating that he does not recall conversations or statements that he made in the past. In fact, he said, I don't recall more than 100 times in court on Monday, many times with regard to aspects of allegations directly involved in the theft of about $10 billion from FTX users. So that's basically all he's saying at the moment. He does not recall. That's his line. I think it was left there yesterday, and he's got one more day on the stand today. Tomorrow our time. So we'll see how that's going, but he's sticking with this story that he basically does not remember a lot, and he's denying any wrongdoing. And apparently the judge was none too happy with his time on the stand either. I don't think she's a big fan. So we will see how that goes, but that is the end of the questioning now, and I think they deliberate for the next two or three weeks, and then we'll get some kind of result. Moving on, folks. So Where were you When you were making this record that you were hearing those sounds so much. I had the honor of spending time on the shores of Blatchford like in the Northwest territories, both during break up and and freeze up. And those times air just phenomenal times of the year because they're such massive transformations taking place on the land and in the in the water. And so, hearing those sounds and watching this process of melting and freezing and melting and freezing. And eventually the lake moving from this this amazing skating rink, maybe two. Almost like a dram er, a percussive instrument with this frozen layer on top, and then ending up in this this beautiful deep sort of pool of water was something that really fascinated. Me and a whole bunch of different levels.

"A restaurant of florida getting a lot of attention for its mask policy after social media post of an x. Through a mask and the words face diapers not required sign posted facebook by the owner. Jesse foxtel's a florida tv station that he posted the picture on social media so everyone knows the policy before they arrive to chow down. Dallas braces for record electricity use as temperatures plunge
"Uh, I looked at my little cell phone here. And it's forecasting on Monday. The overnight low Sunday to Monday is one degree. "And so we knew that we had to not only make our office of safe place for our staff, but also make sure that they Go home and tell their spouses know everything that can be done is being done at my office. So that's been important. It's been important to realize that you know, we don't just employ people. We employ them and their family as it were. You know, we have to be conscious of that all the time. Has this had all been a setback for women and their opportunities? No, I don't think so. In fact, I think it's probably going to end up being a positive for women. Because again that flexibility is there now where it might not have been before. There might have been more of Ah, you know? Well, if you can't put in the hours and you can't be here at the office, then you know we're going to get somebody who can and covert has shown so many Leaders that that doesn't have to be the way it is. Right. And how has it changed your leadership style? I think I'm just more flexible understanding. I don't know that I wasn't before, right, but certainly the way we communicate with one another. We all meet by Zoom Now We don't need a person that that was a hard transition, but we're getting used to it. You know, I I last I looked at my Hollywood squares screen with My folks and and maybe I don't get to see them and in person, but we still are able to interact and get the work of the property Appraiser's office done. I laugh the other day because we are hiring people, and I realized I haven't seen their faces. Every time we see each other. We're in math also your Oh, it's so interesting. That's true. And you're lucky you have the papa website too, for everyone, real estate agents and everybody so they don't have to come down and actually pull the documentation. That's right there. Absolutely. And that's been really great because a lot more people are using our tools that might not have naturally gone then before you know we serve a. We serve an older population here in the county and a lot of those Oh, feel comfortable coming in? Well, they stopped coming in, and they started using our tool of the now we're just thrilled that they continue to use. I mean, I've heard from so many people. Gosh, that was so easy to do online, and that's exactly what we want them to say, because It saved him a trip downtown and also saved us. You know that involvement, but we've been helping people on the phone a lot. You know, If they're struggling Tioga get through our sight. With them Call it will offer that and they can. We can walk them through it, so there's lots of ways to do this. Again. I think that's part of the whole flexibility that you have to be open to trying New things. Exactly. And finally Dorothy Jax, who is the public County property appraiser? What advice would you give to your younger self? You know, I think big thing would be. Don't be so hard on yourself. I think I think people are Very hard on themselves. You know, they have very high expectations. They feel things should be moving faster. They feel things should be. You should be getting along. But No, There's a lot to be said for enjoying your life in the moment that you're in right and really embracing your youth, because once it's gone, it's gone on. I think if I tell myself anything one it would be. Don't be so hard on yourself. Um, and also find a mentor, You know, and I don't just need a mentor and your workspace. I mean, a mentor for life. Just somebody who you can talk to about your problems and ask questions and ask for suggestions on how to do things like I've had two really good mentors. And for me that was very powerful. Having relationships with people who are new. We're looking out for me. Wow, that's really inspirational. Thank you so much. Right, and we and we need them to know what was going on. And there's nearly and are nearly the same words Jax shared in recent tweets that he set up too. Million's offering context around and reflections on our work to protect the conversation recently. They're not protecting speech. They're not particular conversation. They're destroying the platforms of everyone who has a voice that believes and conservatism and they say we now market as extremism. And CNN says We got another problem. Saying they will not be returning for another season vanderpump roles they also said they are excited to take this time to focus on their growing family. So last season was the last season two seasons ago they started bringing in these younger people. It's like the really still trying to push the focus around the restaurant. Jeez like and they would have followed the to the valley where they've gone and do kind of this whole they're all pregnant and do this whole valley high rules or whatever they want to god valley high something along those lines. I mean there's it's confusing but get this according to this article a millennial can actually fall between ages. Twenty four and forty one. Oh that's probably surprising. Some of you. Yeah so a millennial A lot of times people think. Oh these are all very very young people And don't get me wrong. Forty one his young That's like spring chicken type young but for the sake of this study. That's what it is. So all that to say millennials are not necessarily so young anymore. The report found that millennials will beginning to save for retirement at age twenty four which is a good thing that means the message is getting out there. People are understanding they. GotTa get their own Cape. We're not waiting on the government to try to save the day We're doing stuff and I liked that. That means the message is moving. But get this. If millennials started saving at age twenty four which is around the time people get their first big boy big girl job. That's a good thing but Gen xers started saving it age thirty and get this baby boomers on average started saving eight thirty three so I like this trend. I like the fact that things are trending younger and people are making things happen but again. A quarter of millennials have about one hundred thousand save for retirement And I liked it. They're saving earlier than most other generations. I liked that. They are thinking ahead and they're thinking about their future And and and maybe they've heard me talk about and the trend out there that's been in the news. At Social Security is supposed to be insolvent by twenty thirty four twenty thirty five and so this is a situation where people are going to have to make sure that they're putting aside money for themselves to prepare for the future but it's not all good news. Millennials still have some money troubles according to this article. The survey showed that not including home loans. One in six millennials. Oh fifty thousand or more in debt. Oh okay that's not including home loan so you can go with me here in track where this would be. This is probably student loan. Debt this car loans and credit cards about seventy five percent. This one this one's stuck me about seventy. Five percent of millennials aren't confident about their money situation. Wow now that's hi. We're talking about almost eight out of ten aren't confident that means. They're not really understanding what it is that they're doing or or were there going. The trajectory that they're on millennials are though willing to sacrifice a staggering. Ninety percent of millennials said they will make a sacrifice in order to achieve their goals which is an excellent thing because it is necessary. You can't achieve a goal without being willing to make some sacrifices along the way these sacrifices could range from according to the survey Eating out less or not going on vacations or even being willing to work. That's good. Well here's my thing no matter of your age or your stage. I want you to be confident about your financial future. More importantly I want you to be rock solid in your plan. What's the processor working? Now if you're plugged into me and two things that we do here at Ramsey solutions you know that all begins with the baby steps a clear path for you to understand exactly what steps to take when to take it and how to get there. That's a game changer. It's a recipe for success. And I think when you have a plan and you have clear focus you can begin to have confidence. Everybody was very excited about and nobody really has used and I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear entirely. Remember anything they can take out including headphone jacks. Apple. They will say any. Apple fortunately, motives, still has had fun. Jax n NFC is that little it stands for near field communication, and almost every phone does have it. Now, Apple's phones even have it. They apple is the last holdout that just started putting NFC and a couple years ago. But even apple they didn't make allow anybody use it what they use it for. And the only thing that will keep NFC alive is touched to pay. You know, when you're in a store, and you tap your phone on one of those. That's great isn't. It was the greatest thing ever.
