You were beating those quarterbacks in succession. It takes one person with that mental aptitude and fortitude and physical resilience and the ability to admit To omit confidence to project that, like in an unwavering projection into the locker room that's never won anything. They've been losers for a couple of years. Not you know what I mean? Not Luke. But losers in the football win loss record losers. This guy shows up and I don't believe there's another quarterback in football that was available or could have been made available. That would have done that for the Tampa Bay. But as good as they built the team of the GM, you're right. They're not winning anything of Tom Brady's not quarterback. And last night, he know he knows how to get these guys to win. And he knows I didn't help him keep their composure and we see it because that at the end of the day when I look back on, like, what's the big picture that I see when I just like? Snap shot my eyes of at that game, It's the Bucks had composure. And they didn't panic and the Chiefs didn't have composure. They were sloppy. They made they were made a lot of the stakes, even their great, vaunted great young player and Pat Mahomes looked like He was on a wing and a prayer half the time, you know, scrambling around.

You know, saying with Yogi Berra, they had the best team by foreign baseballs, and he was a part of it. But I mean, when you're the quarterback in the NFL and you win and you win for very degrees, but obviously the high degrees for for 19 years, right? And everybody asked the question over and over is that the coaches of the quarterback is that the system is that the quarterback is it a competent what? What is it? And the first year that you play away from the franchise that we always lump that question together in Their quarterback was the worst in football right? They've had the worst season they've had in in two plus decades, and the team that Brady goes to wins the Super Bowl. Yeah, it's it's crazy. What this guy does. But as much attention as the Bucks offenses getting you better you sure as hell better be giving a ton of love to Todd Bowles and that defense because those dudes showed up and they showed out in a huge way. I'm not talking about just in the game I'm talking about before the game. Did you see how shack Barrett showed up to the game got looked absolutely amazing. Or red and black faded Buffalo check suit. With a matching mask and a matching headband. I mean, you show up looking like that. That's a confident dude. Ah, confident. Look from a confident man. And white is your Super Bowl M v p He was dealt with the M V P of the post game. He and the rest of that defense were angry man. They were pissed pissed about the fact that they were underdogs. And then we just like he was the M V P and we still was underdog. I mean, just everything you said. I echo and we're here. We made it. We got through the cove in the pandemic, and we played every game and we got the playoffs in and now we're gonna play. The big game won't be the same because not all the people are gonna be there. Not as many as usual. But I'm not sure you could get a better matchup. You probably can't and you probably can't take a look at two quarterbacks facing off with one another. There's no way you're gonna get more storylines out of that. There's no way that you're gonna get more drama out of that. You know, the greatest of all time against the guy who might very well be the face of the NFL for the next 20 years. For all we know. We talk about that. And Kurt Warner will join us a little bit later on to talk a little bit about this quarterback matchup. But is there one side of the ball one match up offense versus defense That you think is most important how this game plays out? Absolutely. I mean, obviously you're talking to me. It's gonna be up front. It should be the offensive line on. I think that's really in focus this week. Because you have to back up tackles playing for the canteen in chief, because of injuries and really a backup guard. So three of the starting off its alignment for the Kansas City Chiefs will be backups and you're facing a really good front. And two good pass rushers and J P P and Jack Barrett. Don't forget about Devon White, the linebacker who blitzes all the time for Tampa. I mean, so you have a pressure front defense and get after the quarterback. And a team that wants to throw the ball. And so Patrick Holmes is amazing player and he could do so many things. He's a magician at times back there. But the one thing I've seen in history this game, Scott is if a quarterback's on his back really hard to be effective. Also, Tampa Bay had what turned out to be an effective way of reining in Patrick and the cheese in the second half of that first meeting. He had seven points in the second half after the first quarter explosion. Is that part of a blueprint is that something that Andy Reid has been spending the last two weeks trying to figure out why they both teams have? I think both coaches top bulls understood. He came out aggressive and they got burnt tire. He'll beat him over the top, and he had over 20 yards in that first quarter, so And Thomas made adjustments. He did a great job. If you look at the rest of that game and slowing them down, taking things away, allowed Tampa offense, you're going to get back in the game, so they have things they could learn, and they kind of go back and forth. But Andy Reid, Eric, the enemy, they're seeing the same thing. They understood the adjustments that were made on day how they reacted. What can they do now? So it's gonna be a chess match two weeks to prepare great coaches, great quarterbacks. It could be a great game. But you can definitely feel the intensity pick up as the playoffs started, and I think, guys, we're ready to be in this game at this moment. OK, Tom Brady, the man who will be participating and his 10th Super Bowl. This will be his first opportunity here with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He pretty much laid out the differences between this Super Bowl and others. I think that's football preparations been easier. Um There's definitely you know, in a lot of ways, you know, ask my family's been out of town for the last six days. They're not coming back in town until Saturday, So I really had an empty house for Will be 12 days leading up to the game. That's the most prep I ever had. Could really focus on what I need to do. From a football standpoint, get might have time to get my body, right? Um, there's been no travel for our team where it's a home game. That's very different. We said. Our own home that's very different. You don't need a hotel food for a week. That's very different. The stadium will be I don't know 25,000 people that would be different. So a lot of the non football stuff, I'd say it's entirely different. Yeah, This is, uh There's a whole lot different as we know. Here in 2021. Last year, we got that that full Super Bowl before the world really hit the skids. And even this year we don't sample will be at home. This will be the first time that an NFL team plays a Super Bowl at its home field, although it will be treated as a neutral site. But between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs, they have a literally Been told. You go to the facility to practice and you go home. Nowhere else. Nothing in between. No drugstore stops. No, you literally go from the facility to your home. The NFL. The team's here as we get down to the wire as we get to it. Ah, there's there's no mistakes. We don't need the wake up on Sunday morning and hear about how X Y Z player is unavailable for the game. Nobody wants that. So we're getting ready for Super Bowl 55. I told you, Patrick, my home's. Hopefully he's out there ready to roll. He's hopefully not running for his life from Jason Pierre Paul, depending on your perspective. This is what he had to say about the Bucks. Defense. The J P. This is probably likely going to be a shoot out. And if it's not, there's gonna be a whole lot of folks on on Monday who were just saying, Well, damn, we were all wrong. In fact, it's the highest level in the corners. 3 27 is the section is the highest and it's up in the corner, and it's 4411. And then they radio. I haven't obstructed view seat up there. The Patriots lost to the Giants to lose their perfect bid. The problem is just the gridlock of getting Super Bowl Sunday. You gotta leave like five hours before kickoff to get in. It's like it's just It is just human gridlock in every in the security and you can't Even if you're gonna have Ah, you know, Uber Cab drive you to the stadium. You have to get trapped off like you know, a mile away. This one as long as you're cool with, you know, going on in the pandemic. This one would probably be the easiest assed far as you know, Accessibility. Just cause you're not gonna have traffic jams right? So this would be the one not they're gonna pay 18,500 jump on a plane to fly down there. You might, but you know, usually it's just and then getting out after the game, and it's just really a hard event. Because it's just tough to access in and out. But this one would probably be obviously because you're not gonna have that many people. There you go. It's gonna be one of the easiest ones maybe want to take advantage of in that library, Remember, I got to the stadium. Because we did the pre pre and all that kind of stuff. I got to the stadium last year in Miami, 11 A.m. and I was one of the first people and I was walking with time. The game kickoff like 6 30? Yeah, her later and try to remember it was like, uh, 6 36 30 Eastern Tech. 3 30 East. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, I was there about 11 o'clock, and I got in there without much of a problem. But then, as it came is it was coming and I was looking outside it would it packed up fast and like you said, and they've got to make they've gotta have ever to go through the protocols and safety and all those kind of things in man, and that's a stadium in the middle of nowhere, and I had Miami Gardens. That's the way it was way out there on my uber guys like us as far as I could go, and I'm just like, Are you kidding? Oh, get out now! Her foot that I did on that afterwards. Like 3 30 in the morning. I couldn't find the bus is I got my walk. I got my steps in that day. She look she look 35,000 easily. It was that was a crazy one. But The only other thing I had on note wise outside of the Super Bowl stuff. Remember, you don't mattress Mack, the guy in Houston, and he always bets on the Astros and all that stuff, And I think last year he lost actually. He bet $3.5 million on the bucks, and he took the 3.5 points. So 3.5 million for mattress. Mac. I didn't know mattress selling mattresses was so lucrative. The guy's got a lot. They are great group with J P P and check Barrett and Dhammika NSU. Hey, that's a great group of prose that have made a lot of plays in a lot of years. Do you think that that is going to be a problem when both starting tackles for the Kansas City Chiefs are out? Um, a little bit. Yeah, a little bit. But I also think that they're gonna game plan for that. I don't think they're gonna put patch from the homes in harm's way. And I think that they're going to try to mix it up and and counter and do all the things that you do to get out of. Get the ball out of his hands is past is possible. So that you don't have to. Offensive linemen of the chief's happened to the A F C title game on a season where they've already lost two other players on the offensive line. Two other starters of the offensive line. That got you guys to the Super Bowl? That was Steve Spagnola. We're going to see him out there with the Kansas City Chiefs. We know what your group he was always about. Attack. It was like the rush was was coming in waves. You knew it was coming, Obviously not the same type of defensive talent up front with this chief squad. But you do have weapons. And Jones Matthew. What should fans expect from Steve Spagnola? Those defense and the Super Bowl against Tom Brady? Again? Yeah, He's always been good at making adjustments and understanding how to put key players in the position to make plays. And one of the visuals he always gave us was arrows through snow. You know when you're flying, you're an arrow through snow. You just make that mistake at full speed. If you're gonna make it don't hesitate. Don't look around. Just go shoot your shot. Make that play and trust that the dude behind you is gonna make up for it. And one of the things that I've repeated about him is he's honest as a coach, he's not trying to save his job. He's very confident and what he does. He's been very successful at it, and there was a time he came in, and Corey Webster was our corner and he put on the film and he said, Hey, guys, look at this play right here. This was a bad call by me. But after a corner over here, make this play great. Remember Sitting down like like I was like the first time I ever heard of Kota coordinator at MIT like that. They really messed up. You know, Usually they're fine. Coaches confined everybody's fault except for their own. He's a guy who's honest about, um you know what he's doing, and everybody bought into it. You know that ZZ to get behind somebody who's confident who's competent and who's humble. And I think she's got all three of those. So let me ask you when it boils down to this game. You've been on the defensive side strategizing with Spagnola. You've had to prepare obviously to play against Brady. You were you were in the room with with J P P. What do you think is gonna happen in this game? I know it. I think we all believe it's gonna be a great one should be. Hopefully it's a close one. What do your thoughts on how this game will roll in and also turn out? You know, a lot of it. Super Bowl wise. A lot of it goes back to what? We talked about the beginning your preparation. How did they prepare? You can tell if you know a guy or a team has been focused if they've been diligent If they've been working, taking care of their bodies and studying you could tell that in the first quarter, so I think you know, you gotta let it play out a little bit to kind of get an understanding of Okay. This team's plan. Watch how they're fired up there flying around the ball there. Nobody jogging on any play. I was speaking from the defense of perspective, mainly, but the outcome of the game for me is the basics. You gotta hit him. You gotta hit him. Whoever gets hit, you know, hits are cumulative is what I always was told. And over the course of the game. If you can hit the quarterback enough, you're gonna throw him off. And that's that's where you get your opportunity to capitalize. That's where you get your opportunities to win the games to make those plays. You know, it's it's hard. T O hit that route that deep right or even that route in the flat when your head is ringing, you know, and that's a big component to the game. So you just gotta you gotta hit him. I mean, you touched on this, but why would the owner not go out of his way? To make sure that his franchise quarterback is happy. Exactly. What is the owner thinking throughout all this? Yeah, answer that, because, frankly, when he should have never offered to keep the show on water, you know used to Sean Watson's counsel for a head coach for general manager. Frankly, that's just not the position of However much of a franchise quarterback he is of a 25 year old franchise quarterback. Now, if you want to say Hey, before you find out on Twitter, we're going to let you know what we're doing. That's completely fair and should have happened. Whether you tell the Sean that or whether he requests that are not that should happen. That did not happen. But beyond that. He was told to Sean was that he would be involved in the process. Even if you do believe that, and so I don't know really what it is that he has some stuff in his past from 30 years ago when he was in college or just out of college. Run ins with the law that he's able to certainly explain away Yes, he does. Doesn't resume on. Is there a history in the NFL with a guy with his background? Who would get a head coaching job? Johnson and in terms of how we interviews. You've spoken to him more recently than I have. I've been trying to run him down. I've had I have not had success. But back in the day I did interview him. You're gonna find him when you get to training camp. Will those have evaporated now? So now you have nothing to get for your asset. You have a disgruntled player. And they were able to do it yesterday. No question about it. They harassed Aaron Rodgers. Quite a bit in 1998. You guys were thoroughly dominant. The Denver Broncos were toying with undefeated season and you guys could throw you a deep threats. Rod Smith, etcetera. You could run t d in the thick of his prime. Your defense turned the football over quite a bit. You could get after the passer. You guys kind of had it all. So you know what you're seeing with the Kansas City Chiefs. What do you watching in terms of the level the cheese can execute at versus everybody else in the NFL. You know, it's just their ability. Um, to create explosive place, their offense, their ability, get five guys out, and you know and one hold up because it's hard to hold up When you get five guys out on a consistent basis to, um When they do break down their quarterback makes people miss and throws just off platform guys draped on his legs. They just ridiculous throws on day, so just any time that you are one play away from going 17 touchdown like every time they touched the ball, they've got that ability. And you know you make one or two mistakes and you're like, Oh, here we go again is a defense. So they have got that. I mean, obviously one of the most explosive dynamic offenses we've watched. And, um, and that's one of the things that set them apart. To be sure. Is there a quarterback from your playing days that you would compare Patrick Mahomes too? Um Yeah, it is. Just knowledge of the game is building make plays a mathlete with Elway who? When things broke down, he could make those throws and make those big time plays. Um he's kind of Brett Farve. Ask without all the turnovers. You know, he's got all that big time arm and That love and excitement and exuberance for the game, But he's kind of the best of both worlds. I mean, he's but he plays the game above the shoulders. He's super smart. He's got the unbelievable arm and obviously just could make whole all the throws and all the plays. Take me inside the huddle with John Elway when you're down for you get the football back with two minutes to play, because when I look at my homes He reminds me of only two other guys, maybe three, which is Montana, Brady. And maybe Elway, where you just didn't want to give them the football back in the last two minutes because you assumed you will lose that game.
