Yeah, There's the word for me. Each offers a vibe and you try toe line them up. Have them complement each other. Very cool. Either. Let's let's take a break here. It'll be Bulldogs pick just for a minute. Ah, the NHL playoffs. It's the year it's a year where we're talking about initial playoffs on a Friday afternoon in August, but Nashville tied Arizona. Nashville is out if they lose. It's 21 Arizona in the serious National tied Arizona with 31 seconds. Filip Forsberg tie that game. And they are in overtime. They're interesting to consider Badminton in Chicago play at 6 45 in the same building in Edmonton and then also a leaking tonight Vancouver in Minnesota. We have not had a long overtime game yet. In the playoffs game last night with Toronto when Late in the first overtime is also the last game of the day. Right, so you could have a thing here. If this game drags on, They'll kick the can down the road a little bit. I think they have I've heard talk during this restart. They will do that. If it happens even because they want they want a certain amount of time to get the ice ready again and make it as best as it can be. So I think, even if this game We're to end in say, like, 10 more minutes or so. I might even guess that they push the start of that came back by by 30 minutes or so, but they wouldn't push the late game to a different day. I'm not saying I don't think so. No, no, I don't think they would do that You could have if it is that kind of night. Who knows if the second game would also go to overtime. You could've Vancouver and Minnesota start very, very late. 10 45. Is what scheduled already so Islanders over Florida Florida's out Florida fire Dale Tallon reportedly After that game, we talked about how the how the saber is fired Bottle and much of their hockey department after having been Miss after the missing the playoffs, and I mean, I said a few times if they had 11 more game. Maybe they would have been in the playoffs points wise they would have and everybody is still there, right. They wouldn't have fired everybody before their season was over. Going into a semi playoff format. Whatever you wanna call it. And here's Florida, which maybe took minutes. Months went by there waiting to play that Siri's, then they lose it minutes later, and talent is out reportedly. So that's kind of weird. All right back to beer after this break might show up in the bulldog Ethan cocks with us from CBW. Sneaky Jo as well. This is W g. Are you listening to Chopin? The Bulldog live from done. Greece fears border standoff with Turkey over migrants' return

"Early March. The Turkish President Type other unsaid migrants were free to cross into Greece and announced. The border would be opened. Many thousands of people attempted to cross and were fired on with rubber bullets and teargas by both sides but then corona virus struck and Turkey sealed the frontier to the northwest leaving almost forty thousand refugees stranded in crowds cups in appalling conditions. Know as lockdown ends. Athens is concerned that the movement of migrants will begin again and has already reported that boats carrying migrants had landed on the island of Lesbos. Tensions between the two countries are increasing. Well Hannah listen to Smith is on the line from Istanbul. Hanna is this situation heading towards a new border crisis. Well several different people assistants warnings are one of them being Europol. Who earlier this month? Put out a report warning quite starkly that Turkey was likely to try to organize the movement migrants towards the Greek border again. Possibly using methods like we sort the end a separate beginning of March so Putting on buses for migrants from cities like Estan builds the border possibly by winding down his own border forces at lumbered with grace but says knee. I'm in the the evidence from the past week seems to show that After a hiatus of a couple of months during the coronavirus crisis we're starting to see the other crisis the Mexican crisis building up again. The Turkish Coast Guard rescued. Seventy two asylum-seekers. A Monday after they'd been turned back from Greek waters. And as you say the new arrivals starting down the islanders less Voss so I think certainly over the past couple of months. Everyone's attention has been diverted in clearly. Boards have been closed. But I think this is a crisis that hasn't gone away by any means and is the frontier opened on our their border controls in place. The frontier isn't open yet. I think that's something that we're going to see happening. I've the next few weeks Turkey's eastern border with Iran was likely open very very soon. The interesting thing is actually. It's over. This border the most of the migrants that trying to make their way to Europe and now coming then not necessarily coming from serious much anymore So I think especially we're going to see those See there's numbers stuff since built up again and don't forget there are already full million migrants intake. You're ready many of them. Desperate to get almost anywhere else in his a safe country in many respects but life is very very difficult for for people who don't have papers you don't have the right to work He didn't have the money to to find decent accommodation. So you know many people the jury Mr. Let's get to Europe. And of course there are many thousands of people still in the camps. What are the conditions like that? Yes the people. He made their way to the border. The border in March. She went the current virus outbreak started. They were taken by the Turkish authorities to Closed comes in other parts of Turkey. The texture authorities that was for a fourteen day quarantine periods and then they were then allowed to guy but on the Greek islands on the other side of the crisis. Those conditions are fairly appalling. I mean the Greek government has moved some people watch. Those comes as you said before. They're still moving. Search thousand people in those comes on the Greek islands. And let's not forget that comes of a never built to host people term. They were set a temporary hot spots. There are meant to just host people for a few days while they were registered while the details were taken in while there are moved on somewhere else sent back to Turkey and what they've turned into over the past four years is just holding pens incredibly squalid overflowing Insanitary I I think. The beginning of the coronavirus crisis really concern was the the virus was gonNA re ripped through those calms Muscles that hasn't happened. There's been some cases particularly unless voss but but luckily it seems to have escaped the ravages of Corona virus. But that doesn't take away from the fact that that is so incredibly incredibly dangerous and summitry places for the people living in AN MP in the governing New Democracy party's accused Turkey of trying to weaponize the refugee situation to he says extract European support for its geopolitical goals. What are those goals? And how will encouraging migrants to cross into Greece further turkeys ends? Y'All I think is is fairly clear that you need to take years trying to weaponize. Refugees nuts becomes more more overt in recent of course culminating and what we saw in February really presentations aims to fold on one hundred those domestic aims. So it's never been particularly popular among Turkish people to have such a large number of refugees overwhelmingly Syrian refugees in the country. There have been complaints about this from particularly from opposition parties. Right from the start of the Syrian war but increasingly also own voters are becoming increasingly angry and dissatisfied with the fact that eight years on eight is after the start of the war a huge amount of refugees still here that's exacerbated by the fact that tech is going to his own economic crisis unemployment levels are rising Texas struggling and of course that itself is bitten exacerbated by the coronavirus crisis lockdown. So you know. We've seen rhetoric on refugees shifting at the start he would say. That's you know the Muslim Brothers. That the very welcome that they'll be looked after in. Turkey and increasing over the past couple of years he started saying three in Saint Louis forever. They'll eventually have go back So on domestic level you know doing things like this plays quite well but also on a firm policy level. Everyone has been a begging other countries strictly European countries for support in hosting refugees. He's to certain extent dot support. He got six billion euros from for promise from the in thousand sixteen to help look after refugees. But he says it's just a drop in the ocean also support for for the Turkish army's In Syria whether holding a line against President

Coronavirus For Kids, And The Science Of Soap

"You may have been hearing lately about something called Corona virus. Or maybe you've been hearing about Kovic. Nineteen many of you have been affected more than just by hearing about this new illness. In some regions and countries. Lots of things have changed. Big events like football or soccer matches concerts and community events have been postponed mosque. Church and synagogue services have been cancelled and schools and places where adults work have been closed. It can be confusing or worrying when normal life changes. If you are feeling a little concerned you should ask the adults in your life to help explain things but you should also that things are probably feeling confusing. And maybe a little overwhelming to your adults to most of us haven't been through something quite like this before and going to take all of us being calm and following the best advice of health professionals and our local leaders to get through this together today. We're going to answer questions. You've been sending us about corona virus in an effort to make sure you are informed and prepared not scared. We're putting this episode out. On Friday March Thirteenth Twenty twenty. The global situation is changing very quickly. But the information. We're going to give you today pretty relevant. Whether you're listening the day we put this out or maybe a week or two later or perhaps even later and as things continue to change you can continue to send us questions. You think we should answer. Let's start with corona virus. What it is and what Kovic nineteen means we asked Critique polly to help answer your questions about this virus critique it is an infectious disease doctor. Infectious diseases are illnesses. That are caused by a microorganism. Getting into your body micro means small so something really small. You can't see it. Some infectious diseases are passed from one. Human to another by insects. Like mosquito others are passed from person to person in other ways like by one person. Coughing or sneezing and another person breathing in those cough droplets. In the Air Dr Critic Acapella works on Infectious Diseases and she's actually one of the leaders of the Infectious Disease Society of America so she thinks about contagious illnesses a lot and she's been helping a lot of politicians health officials and others think about this new illness. That people are so worried about so she was really glad to get a chance to talk directly to you to kids about the questions. You have islanders. Henry I'm eight years old. I live in Oxford. Ohio and my question is why did the current ivars happen? Hi My name is Isla. I live in spokane Washington. I'm eleven years old in my question is what do scientists know about the corona virus? Hi I'm Evelyn. I'm seven years. Old From Kirkland Washington. And I'd like to ask what is the corona virus. What exactly is a corona virus? We keep hearing this word corona virus. What is that? Karma bowl is on part about large family of germs called viruses chronic viruses infect animals and some infect people so the one that is causing the big outbreak right now is one that index people and sometimes when this happens it can cause infections of our lungs also cause fevers coughing and shortness of breath. Hi My name is Nathan. I am five years old. I live in Washington and lie. Question is why of a different take of other current viruses. That kids might be familiar with if if we've gotten a cold. Is that a corona virus. Yes quarterback most commonly called what we think of as causing the common cold so people have had probably a corona virus already in their lives. If they've had the sniffles coffin. It's not allergies. If they've had a cold viral illness they may already have had a corona virus. So why are we concerned about Cova? Nineteen the disease that's caused by this new corona virus. Hello my name is Waitin' Four and a half years old eleven in Pennsylvania. My question is was the coon of why was bad. Hi My name is advocates are the venture cargo. I am five years old Miami Kelly. I'm an elephant Chicago. How did the corona virus become so powerful so toby nineteen is what we call a novel coronavirus and what the word novel means is that it's new and that people have not seen it before and that's why it's called? Colgate nineteen the coast and for Corona. The D. I. Vin is Virus Disease In nineteen. Because it first appeared in people in two thousand nineteen and because it's new and people haven't seen it before it's making people very sick. Is that because because people haven't seen it before none of us have developed any immunity to it. So we're more likely to get it if we come in contact with it because our body has no built up way to try to prevent us from getting it. Because everybody's never seen it before. Yes that's one reason so the bodies have never seen it before We don't have any way for our body to recognize and develop a immune response to it so none we can get very sick and that is one of the reasons we are so concerned about it because we have seen that some people Who can get this disease? Get very sick. You said that that lack of any immune response is one reason. Are there other reasons why humans are likely to get this one or why there's concern about humans getting it? Well one of the reasons we get concerned about humans getting it's not. We've seen that people who are older when they got it tend to get more sick and that is one of the reasons we are so worried about it. My name is Tara and I'm turning eleven and I live in New York City and my question is how do viruses mutate? Hi My name is Millie and eleven New Jersey and I was six years old and my question is. How did the current virus start? Where did this disease come from? We aren't exactly sure where the disease has come from. Belli's one thing. We are still working to understand but we do know that there are lots of viruses in the world and based on our best guess right now where other chronic illnesses come from we right now think that it may have come from bats and there may have been some sort of intermediate host and from there came to humans however that has not been confirmed yet and they are still working to identify where it came from so it may have come from an animal animal's could have had this before humans ever got it and somehow transferred from animals into the first humans who got it absolutely correct. How does this virus spread in people? Virus spreads mainly from people either sneezing or coughing by their droplets. So that is why it is important if you sneeze or cau- to cover your mouth so you can't spread it to other people if you cover your mouth with your hand while you cough and then you put your hand down on your desk or your table or hold hands with your friend. Can you transmit the virus that way? Well sort of so if your hand has a virus on it and then you touch your hand and then your hand to get scars on it and your friend than touches the mouth or the nose order is than they can give themselves the virus if they don't wash clean their hands before they touch their mouth their nose or there is so it's very important to wash your hands before touching your face and critique. Oh we mentioned a minute ago. That people who've had a cold have had a corona virus. What are the symptoms of this particular corona virus covert nineteen so the most common symptoms of this corona virus? "It's like you know here. We go again type of feeling about the season. I can't imagine that the same decimation of the roster will happen again in two thousand twenty but so far not so good for this team staying healthy and that's that's a major major concern because if you feel like one thing is going to derail this train into getting the world series with the way that the Astros and the Red Sox and dealing with all the stuff with the cheating scandal and so on and so forth that they are the favorites in the American league. I mean they got the. I is win total in baseball by a lot if one thing is going to derail him. It's going to be injuries like this. Well good teams fight through injuries. You know and saw a hockey game last night. It was amazing it was amazing game and I give the islanders a lot of credit. Because they're a team that's dealing with a ton of injuries and they lost one of their key players for a big portion of the game and actually came back out of the locker room to sit in the penalty box for the overtime period. That was J G pershing. Who of course scores against the Rangers? Of course it's a fluke. Goal comes out of nowhere and it Kinda gets back into a game. I don't know how much of the game you watch last night but it was about as intense as any playoff game it. You'll see guys going one hundred miles an hour and when you watch a game days how how are not more people watching this because this is where you get. Your money's worth you get great effort. You get an islander team that basically decimated by injuries you know if they can get all their guys back and get healthy. They're going to be a good team because they're going to play defense versus even though it didn't look like it last night. The Rangers honestly you know gave one away gave a point away. If you ask me you know. They sat around for the last seven or eight minutes of that game like they were cones on the ice. Just watching the islander skating zone and the way it started out. I figured we're GONNA win like five nothing because the islanders were all over the Rangers first ten minutes of game and this kid Alexandre Goria. Was Tony yesterday. You know guys get injured all the time in sports. You just never know when your turn is gonNA come. You never know when you're going to get the opportunity to shine and show you can do. Net kids stopped. I think forty two saves last night. Forty five shots on goal. That's ridiculous. Yeah we'RE NOT GONNA win when your goal is to make that many stops defensible. You gotTA start getting in front of politics. I mean it was unbelievable. Last night he was like a shooting gallery and the other side. They only had twenty eight shots on goal and they got the islanders best effort but I I give. The island has a lot of credit for time. That game late game. Yeah I know what you're GonNa say you're going to be feel bad about blowing the lead and you're up through. I understand but actually think that both teams coming out of this thing can be happy about the way it went because the islanders were on the way to a regulation loss. And we're able to storm back and get a goal with less than a minute left and the Rangers were able to get a point on the islanders hurricanes and continue to chew on the Columbus Columbus Blue Jackets and this is the first game without historic it. So I thought that you'll both of these teams. Once the dust settled se wasn't so bad. We'll we'll find out now. The next three games at Montreal Philadelphia and then home against Alpha and Montreal's always been a tough place for them to play. The Nice thing is is that the Rangers continue to win on the road. This is like a nine on a row nine in a row on the road. Which is a franchise record? This group guys is created a franchise record on the road away from Madison Square Garden. And they don't play many clunkers because they're goaltenders. Young goaltenders in particular are keeping them in games in this attorney temporary or semi preparedness. Just ridiculous how good he is and look. The defense is going to make some mistakes but they're also going to make a lot of plays so it's kind of like a growing situation. I Dunno Brendan. Smith is going to be a number one pair defenseman going forward. He had a really tough first period. I thought but he settled down and you got a nice assist later on the game but I dunno it was just. The islanders are probably. They're missing like four key. Guys Andy. Green went out last night. I don't know how significant that injury was. And then one patio got the game. Misconduct of the ten minute misconduct. Because you know he went after trooper. Who through an eight million dollar check into the chest? Ital- coal which is exactly what I'm paying Jacob Trooper to do every single time. He's gotta be like that. That was a Scott Stevens last night. That's what that was an outlook that was awesome. It was legal in. You know it was nasty and then you know it's almost like you can't hit a guy anymore legally. Somebody's got to come and fight you. That's ridiculous my team does the same thing you know. One of our guys gets hit. We go after somebody immediately. I don't know why well the game you're defending your guy. Sometimes getting your guy that guy's got his head down. Get your head off but you know you know how it goes. You know how fast it is out there. We have the ability to watch this thing and see exactly where the guy's head was. Did he leave his feet in slow mo? Didn't when you're tonight fine but when you're out there on the ice and you see your team may get laid out your natural reactions to defend them. I don't think there's any problem with the other thing to remember. The islanders had a goal pulled off the board because honestly interfered with the one on the Islander Bun. Well what he called it. The referee called it right there. In the moment he saw the whole thing happened. So they're not gonNA overturn that but the point being that honestly as a pain in the ASS. He's a guy that sits in front of the net and just is to move and he is not afraid to stand there. When those one hundred mile an hour pucks coming through the middle so You Know Look I. It was a great game last night. We should have seen it in. Rive really is what should have happened. If you think about a man you should have been there together. But you didn't WanNa go would have been a great victory for your guys. You would have walked out of their head. Held high feeling. Great those weird things I I was. I wanted them the win. The real two points. Not You know not go to an want to go into You know forgave three on three hockey. Which is exciting by the way but would have been nice to come out of there too. Oh as opposed to one but you know. Hey I'll take it. It's a win. And the Rangers are continuing to win and their young players. Great and their stars or playing and Chris Kreider was Under the weather last night didn't look himself. But Hey you know what? We'll find out now here in the next two weeks whether or not they're gonNA make the playoffs because of the teams that they're playing..

"It's a new coach. It's a new system. It's guys but as this team has started to take shape and as this team has started to put itself together like stop it you guys. I'm tired of hearing during the narratives that applied. There's a firsthand game. There's larger flaws in in the team that I think needs to be addressed or at least that are going to allow this team to keep winning and and I think that the consistency that these two have grown to A grown together in general is something that the kings are are extremely comfortable with in terms of seeing that. They're paired together every single night. Since almost the start of the season so I agree. I think that these these guys are solid in each other's that belong to play fifteen minutes a night and you know as of right now. There's no reason that they should be in the lineup. And they shouldn't be getting the ice time that they are the only the only thing that I would argue and I I'm with you one hundred percent on this the only thing I would say no. It's not an argument. They're not they're not playing against the top line not matched up against the mcdavid. Typically in playboy hair used to have Christian air off on the right right yes the day. That's a great point because sometimes it does go without noting that you're not every line is going up against the top line right posing team especially when you're at home when you're playing against the third or fourth line. You're not seeing the scoring chances from from those lines that you would be if you're playing if you're doughty in your Hutton or your doubt in your walker playing against mcdavid well let's let's take take an absurd comparison. Let's take two thousand twelve Stanley Cup. La Kings roster right okay Brad. Richardson Jordan Nolan frazier whose first name escapes me. All in thank you calling Frazier Matt Green and Alec Martinez. Those guys were fourth line slash third pair. Our dear right now. He didn't play against the other teams. Tom nope fair but every shift they were out there they were taking to the other team. They weren't a liability. They weren't getting getting Hamden in there. They were attacking they were. They were making stuff happen. Even if Matt Green only got one goal you know in the playoffs and it was a big big. Yeah but the point is like you know I said this. I can't even remember when I said it but Kris draper has more Stanley Cup rings than than Steve Is. Okay I like I like Christopher too and I'm not saying I'm not GonNa sit here and tell you the Kris draper is better than Steve Is. And I'm not going to tell you that if I was in a draft I would take Kris draper over. Steve is Herman woman. I'm just saying you need Christopher just as much as you need divisor man. It's just harder to find Steve. So a layoff of Roy and Ryan agree. Read what needs to be addressed that they aren't playing against you know the top line of every team but neither is any other third paired to fry correct so yeah they're extremely important but just as you're talking about Jesse is they're winning when they're on the ice and plus or minus at the top of you know 'cause you're looking at fancy antsy stats but what's important is. They're doing what they're asked. And when you can get an occasional goal out of Roy or Ryan by all means and I don't think anyone's going to be opposed Roy was plus tonight by the way Yes Ryan was even. Yeah which we were trying to sort that out early out as one on the Is Together at all times so I think that you know this offense. If it can be helped by the defense in terms of defencemen scoring you know it just makes this team a little bit more competitive in a little bit better in a little bit harder to be and now you're going to need those two guys with Alec Martinez Martinez Out of the lineup for however no you know who knows how long McDermott. McDermott Zanan forever coming back now. So you know there are there are going to be some changes ages. But you need guys like that to step up and it's good to see from those two guys dance your question Jack for the Season Matt Roy Even at plus minus and Yoga Ryan minus one I take take it absolutely and again. I'm not proposing that these guys are norris trophy winners or they'll even be when the team does reach convention. I'm just saying like the Trevor Lewis the Ryans. They're fine now ev. Honestly they're fine fine. Yeah everybody everybody on this team for the last. What two weeks has been great greats maybe too strong and have been fine solid? Yeah have been you know. Look Captain Happiness as measured by expectations right. My expectations expectations are being raised as a result of the play on the ice. And honestly they're not I'm not. I don't feel let down as a result of my I slightly elevated expectations. I still don't think they're gonNA make the playoffs this year. But we've gone more than three points. Yes well I think they're on pace for seventy one at this point or seventy two. which is what happens what we thought? Well it's it's I mean not that Vegas is beyond but it's where the over under was short for the team this season and my response to that was when I first heard it before. A lot of the things that happen happen mirus wants was that's absurd. It has to be higher than that. They can't be worse than they were last year. And have you remove the first five to ten games of the season. They have been better. Kobe played almost five hundred hockey coping. I think it's more than five hundred. Qatar has been a one hundred percent. The player we wanted him to be back. Quick has bounced back off. Carter's been great. Jeff Carter scoring tyler. Toffoli look like a completely different player tonight on our the family in the stands or what Flying up the wing campaign looks great. Lozad is who who knew made on the campaign marker who get to that a second uh-huh Andrew Doughty is on pace. I think if I'm not mistaken for his best season two years after the previous seventeen points coming into the game sounds right So I mean I look. It's Thanksgiving you know. My mood has rebounded significantly from where it was the unites. Thank goodness well three points and three three out of four points. Yeah I expect the rest of the season to be a slow climb out out of the basement into the black hole and I'm fine with it whereas the black hole between what is it between like eight and eleven or you're you're not good enough to make the playoffs but you're not bad enough the worst place. Yeah the pro- the problem. I only problem with that phrase and I just use it for expediency my problem with that raises that it was coined to reference eighteen. Does that every year. Like cowdery did for EDMUNDS and did for every year you know are sorry. Minnesota know where the Carolina we use the play offs and losers or Florida. Where you just get close and and so you never can get out of that cycle? And that's why it was called the black because it keeps sucking you in mere if the king's like the Kings when they were allegedly in it however many years ago they had two or three terrible years and then the climbed out right. But you have to have that that transition season where you finish eleventh or you know Panther Eleventh and and if the kings finish how many teams in our conference fifteen sixteen extent fifteen all right if the kings finish nine eleven three art great. I'm fine with it. We're GONNA re transformation information or whatever transformation. I'm not sure with coin term. We're using it but it's a matter of you know last refinish thirty out of thirty. You want your next year. There's a lot of expectation and there's a lot of youth that we at least hope to see in the NHL or at least in a king slash rain uniform. So I think it's a matter of figuring out you know who some of these players are going to be in the future and how many of them are on this right now beyond your copay tar is beyond your Jonathan Jonathan quicks beyond your drew doughty's and understanding. You know where you need to fill the holes I think you're seeing Lozad and Sean Walker and Adrian Kempe a slowly starting to come into their own air. Okay all of a sudden we can check this box off and now we need to look for someone who can do this. And whether that be through free agency or trades or you know draft picks that you have in your prospects that's what this whole seasons about and we're learning more and more every game but you know while we're seeing what we do need were also realizing what we don't need and I think to your point right now a third depayre something. We don't need eight. I think that's fair. I'm just looking adding just quietly. Why just look at the standings and realizing thing that they're further back than I thought they were? Maybe eleventh is a little bit ambitious but the point is I expect complaints better hockey league so there you go. Yeah trending upward. Yes can't train window precisely I but I think Jack that phrase what you finding out what you don't need is secret is is quietly lightly. Brilliant because we have discovered brilliant an asset that we don't we don't need this seizing scarlet. Yeah and you know. We don't need to dwell well on it but there have been lineup. Changes made and the team has been all the better for it and keep this in mind. Don't Oh forget what's in Ontario Right. Oh with Kale Clegg and Mikeandmike on their doors but these guys are velarde. These guys are going to be good players and we hope they're gonNA hope and there's and there's and there's a guy named Alex Turcott who's going to be coming up in the next couple years and there's an Arthur Calia and there's all these guys is that are making bjorn. Foot is still playing in Ontario. So there there are guys there who are ready to take these roles will ready over the next couple of years. I'm not concerned learned about it at all. No next couple of years are going to be a lot of fun to watch. Yes absolutely absolutely less on Walker. My he's a new car clifford and his head. My affection for the Professional Hockey Writers Association as well documented and I I was in the media room earlier today and my mood had not yet become had broken. Yeah from Abbey early. Yeah I didn't want to see him. "He was these European defenseman Christian air. Hof Thank you Christian Erhan Program. Yes he had great fancy stats and my my God. If that guy wasn't on the ice for every single yeah but anyway but in the last fifteen games right this is fifteen games and breaking down Defensive Defensive Bears Roy and Ryan have played ninety seven minutes and thirty seven sixty seconds at even strength. That's second only dowdy and Walker. As a pair there I in Coursey four percentage which means that they dominate that. When they're on the ice the PUCK spins way more time being directed at the opponent's than it does at their own net shots four percentage there? I and that's never mind Coursey. That's just shots on goal. That's pucks that hit the goalies right. More pucks percentage when they're on the ice and they've only been on the ice for three even strength goals against meanwhile Alec Alec Martinez Abundant Hutton. have been on for six Audi and hunting have been on for five doubting Walker been on for five. Now I get it. They don't play as many minutes but even strength wise the top four. I mean they play the those two guys play about fifteen minutes a night and over fifteen games. Fifteen games pair defense and and I'm perfectly prepared to throw out the first game of the season. They look they was weird scheduling. There were those two back to backs. They opened the road. It's a new coach. It's a new system. It's guys but as this team has started to take shape and as this team has started to put itself together like stop.

"Sleep the phone this week and if I could have counted the number of hockey cliches that I got out of him which is no disrespect to Andrews lead. That is how a captain of the New York. Islanders islander should speak but it was a tough one. Yeah no it's. It's all about commitment and Harvard in all of the things that you know and probably I would say it is very trust. Money becomes an iron. That might be all almost. It's August the Lua fact or Brennan. One of the reasons we wanted to have you on. Chris wrote such terrific piece for. ESPN DOT com this week about the next wave of young broadcasters in a league and you were among them and I love to know I'm guessing this is something you've wanted to your entire life but what would you say. Is Your big break for how you got to this stage at such a young age homeboy All of them you know it's it's to get to this level period. Let alone when I get into the thirty. Two Takes takes a lot of Stars aligning to have that happen but You know I was born into. The broad guy was born into the sports sports media world. My Dad's a sports writer so I grew up on that side of it So I've had a relationship with broadcasters my whole life and have one nine years old but I lucked out getting any job at the H. L. With a wheeling mailers right out of college because I had said my take them when the job wasn't open and their broadcast left last minute and they decided to hire me instead of going on this you know nationwide search for the next broadcaster. So that got me started at twenty two in double a hockey. which was you know I think A step ahead of a lot of people that age and then it just kind of worked out for me where when I was in Peoria and the H. L. I got an opportunity to fill in on some. NHL Games the Saint Louis Blues. And so here I am at twenty six two years old In the American Hockey League with a tape of some NHL action. And so that kind of put me ahead of the curve a little bit for a lot of different things and I wound up getting picked up doing in college football for Fox and then when the islanders job cable but I had a hockey radio eight football. TV tape and asked them to use their imagination. That I could do this and put it together. The other and they let me on dishes job in hearing him so A lot of different breaks along the way. But that's gotTa cliffnote of it. I mean Brennan. It's we talked a bit about the the the young journeyman is kind of what I labeled you as because you did have to kind of a ten year career in the minors but one of the things that really stands out to me about about you and it really stood out after the piece was out was how much islander fans seem to really love you. I mean that my my mentions were absolutely absolutely blown up with islanders fan saying how much they appreciate you and the fact that you had to replace. Howie rose a guy that you knew who and obviously had such a great connection with the fans? It seems like the transition has been relatively seamless. I mean what is it. been like for you to kind of form in that relationship with the fans and then also You know the fact that how he was a guy that gave you some really good advice right when you started out running the voice. You're referring into hell. He called me right before my first game said you know. Don't act like you're filling in for anybody this is your job and so that Kinda changed my mindset of how do I was GONNA attack this job but I think thank you know a couple of things. A couple of factors led into my friend. Steve was was I guess willing to when maybe a lot of other networks teams Warren. Based on the Times I've heard no financial jobs were was to give the job to somebody that no one's ever heard of before because it's such a good job and it's an NHL but it's a uh-huh market and they hired AHL radio guy so nobody really had any preconceived notions of me. I didn't have any ties to any other teams. I didn't these have any other body of work that people knew about so I think when I got hired the response was who so instead of. Oh my God I don't like him. It was all right. Let's see they gave this kid the job. We'll see what he can do. I think we do have an open mind to become the game And then I guess they took to the way I call them redeem. It's very different. From what how he did You know I'm more of Radio Guy when I phoned the talking and called the action at how he was a gifted storyteller. I learned a lot of other things but I game differently but him and so I don't know if it was after twenty years of keeping you know like the change At at least in terms of that regard but people seem to really take me pretty really. I spent a lot of time on twitter and with the fans trying to learn about them and who they are and what they've been through so that I could really become in our highlander and I worked really hard at it and I feel now that I finally moved out Long Island. I think I've got it all figured out so I just starting to feel like I'm a true Royal Fan and one of the things I love about. Broadcasters is seeing their process behind the scenes All the different pens at Barker as they used to write their notes so that they can get ready tells a little bit about your game. Prep yes why can't read my own handwriting is. That's a problem so yeah yeah so. I actually travel with a printer. I have a printer in my suitcase on every road trip and I have a lot of times having the press box with Lee because my notes on my short has to be printed out. I developed a format on a on yourself publisher that I have tweaked in tweaked over over the past twelve years and got it to a point of fourteen years. She's been doing this. You know differently every year but pretty much the same anything and I've got a a system where I've got a box for every player and I've got a lot of information I type up my notes and you know sometimes I hate to admit this but sometimes during the national actually we've every game because The way I I literally prep until every time I really ever seen like I'm done where I'm like all right. It's four o'clock let me just sit back and have food and get ready for the seven o'clock game. I pretty much every minute. I have my notes at the last second and go to work so it's an ever evolving process for me but it's A. It's a fun that I tell young broadcasters. If you don't like getting ready for a game game then you're not going to be a good broadcast because that's that's the type of your everybody can turn on the microphone at seven o'clock into the job but do you enjoy doing it the rest of your life because that's pretty much what it takes to be good at this and I do. I enjoy the process and you know I think it really pays off and it shows and in one of the things that that you know people more. NHL Fans are going to get more familiar with you because you have had the opportunity to to do national games. So I just wonder you know how. Whoa how difficult is that transition to make your with a team all year and you're trying to kind of nail everything down for that but then you know you you parachute in recently for a Ranger's game which I'm sure islanders fans got a little nervous about maybe but but yeah you know you had that opportunity to do national games as well? So how does that that transition. How does that go? How difficult is that and ultimately how does it come together in that on the broadcast? Don't tell islander fans up during another ranger actually to it. It's interesting you know what the national and regional game is that majority of your audience from national doesn't need the detail when they're watching the eighty two year and so it's almost easier to Paris. Terraced infranational Dean. Because you'll have to give the appropriate snuff. You might get detailed stories but you know doing a razor game and telling the fact the copy cocktails but number two overall pick is not breaking news ranger fans but some people that watch the national team's Mike Forget that's who that is so you don't Google the little things that are local days takes for granted and goes wise. Talking about the national fan base. Wants to hear that type of thing so you have to make sure you have all the big stories down. You don't really have too much into detail I mean you can And the analysts really do but for me. It's just making sure that I have all the nuts and bolts on everything Because as you don't really have to dive deep especially if the beams go to the game you know I'm always a guy that The Games always the story. So I'm not going in with a checklist of different topics and I feel like I need to get in if they get in they get in the game's going well and people are involved in the game. Let's just talk about the game because that's what the people are here watching so Do Arrange your game or do a game in the metropolitan evasion or Eastern Conference is a lot easier for me because I see all the time. The real challenge is Not last year but the previous two seasons I I done you know. Most of the Games in Eastern Conference. And then they'd send me on a Pacific Division playoff series between San San Jose and Edmonton for instance Two teams that I had only seen twice each and hadn't seen at all since I think it was November and now I'm jumping into a playoff off series. So just the amount of work to get ready for a series like that because they're not on your everyday radar Is a lot more but then once you get through game on then all all of a sudden you're doing the same two teams four or five six games role and then it becomes a little bit easier. And then it's the playoffs in the stories are just the playoffs so but it's a lot of work to get up to speed for one of those Western Conference Games like that but it's always when I love the challenge of it. Hey Brennan were so appreciative of your time. Before we let you go one quick header for you. Give me one bowl prediction your round this team every day. You see them in and out one bold prediction for the rest of the islanders season. Oh Boy Take you know what. Yeah how how. `Bout I'M NOT GONNA say another Jennings Trophy but how about the islands finished top five and goals allow again You know everybody wanted to say that it was wrong. Robin Leonard for some reason and and trust me Robbins. A great guy and he had a great season. People often forget the goalie split last season for the New York. Islanders was forty three starts Robin Robin winner and thirty nine starts Thomas Rice You know people forget the other half of that. Goalie tandem is still there. And if the goalie coaches that turned around Robin Leonard's career career are still on the island so Varlamov off to a great star comments crisis picked up where he left off. And I think the honors will be challenging again for Jennings Trophy Come the end every year because I don't see any reason why that would change awesome. Thank you Brennan for your time. We appreciate it. How can people follow your work? Brendan embark on twitter or force. An Club Yeah we're both emily. I'm Kathleen and Chris. Peters Yeah I got Matt Matthew represented I don't know who who has actual Brendan Burke. I think it was a comedian in Ireland but either way I had to go with Brennan Emberg so we'll deal with that..

"I'm not I'm sitting in for Greg. This is Chris Peters on the evening news. I don't know what that was. Why did I do that? I don't know I think it's because you're in Saint John Right now and you're feeling Kinda frisky tells about Saint John Yes so Saint John is in New Brunswick this is my first time in New Brunswick runs with. It's a beautiful place. We're in the Atlantic timezone. I don't like that because everything is later here and I don't I don't like that but you know what it is a beautiful place. It's it's right on the water. Good seafood and good hockey. So can't Koran. I love it I love Kick Greg out to you and we have a total mid West timezone bias. Let's go central time zone. I love that time zone. We'll we've got a great show for you today. We've got Brendan Burke the broadcaster for the islanders. MSG joining us. He'll talk all things. The nine game winning streak islanders plus the next wave of NHL broadcasting. I'm going to pick Chris his brain because he's an expert on which rookies are making the biggest impact in the NHL a little early prospect aspect. Talk plus some dig into my big player confidential that ran this week and a new segment debut in for this week. So let's there's no proper shall we whom he is to your ear buds a podcast about hockey featuring things to do with arche from your friends at ESPN ESPN on ice with Shitski. And Kaplan welcome to yes piano is I'm in the national. NHL Reporter and my Speech speech impediment from Middle School and Elementary School. where I couldn't say my ours seems to be coming out? Let's start the show proper. Shall we and adjoining today. Who are Chris? Peters Steph writer recovering the NHL NHL draft prospects You know all those things awesome. Well I'm so glad to have Chris join me. He is truly a delight he is. The only is the best fact about Chris. He's the only NHL writer living in the state of Iowa. Isn't that correct. As far as I know I think I'm the only what if there is one. We gotTA start having meetings but yeah this is a yeah yeah man about town in originally from Chicago so I know I know a bit about where you're at right now but but yeah I I live in Iowa and that seems to Shock people every time I tell them I love it. All right crispell your expertise. This is always the draft class. And you've been following these guys. Probably since they were fifteen years old maybe younger in some cases and now that this twenty nineteen in classes starting to make an impact in the NHL. I just wanted to get your thoughts. I say like maybe an early calder. Rankings what you think Cocco and Hughes look like we've got a lot to get to so let's start with the first two big guys. What is your impressions? been early of Jack Hughes with the devils and Capo cocktail with the rangers. Yeah well you know I think I think it's a good reminder. The the way that they both started is the. NHL is a tough leak and these guys are still very young in both guys. Were two thousand one birth earth date so there there are among the youngest players in the National Hockey League and as we saw Jack us there was a lot of complaining about his lack of scoring but in in his last four games four of his last five games. He's got seven points and he's starting to find his way and most of them have been on the power play that's typical. You're going to start to see that where we're players players just going to have a little bit more time space than they're going to have a little bit more success but I think what I've seen from Hughes's that he's continually improved and that's been the most important thing. I think. The thing thing that John Heinz is going to like the most and what what fans should be paying most attention to not necessarily the points that they're having just are they getting better each day and I think that's what Jack uses doing now. Kakaako has had a bit of a tougher tougher road I think both of these teams have kind of underachieved in terms of what the expectations were coming in. But it's another reminder that when you have young teams like these are going to be situations where you're just not going to have the success and and you have to be more patient Cocco history goals. I'm mutiny in those have been some some nice goals had a really good one the other night and what a nice I mean. He's he's a good player. What a nice goal? Yeah and while a nice goal and he. He's he's a really he's a guy that I think just will continue to get better. I was really concerned. I saw that. He said he was not having fun. It was really hard hard. I you know that that transition is not easy. It's not easy in that medium market and it's it's not easy playing for big franchise light. AH THE NEW YORK Rangers but we're starting to see him get more comfortable. We're starting to see that Rangers team I think as well guys like Adam Fox You know younger guys on that team. They're starting to get more comfortable in in. That is going to only help. So Patients Rangers fans patients devils fans. This is only the beginning and these guys are just GonNa continue to build. Yeah so we've entered now the second month of the year and it feels like the early hype on the call there Victor Olson might be cooling off his he's he's stagnated now at six goals Honestly to me this feels like the year. We're finally getting defenseman. It's GONNA come down and in right now. The two leaders for me would be CALMA car. Who has eleven points? It is averaging nearly nineteen minutes. A game shouldering a big workload for the cow Colorado avalanche or Quin Hughes. Jack's brother or who also has ten points nine assists and his having nineteen twenty game and and really the big part of that offensive. Success with Vancouver conducts are seeing what to say. I totally agree you know. I did my prospect rookie. Rankings last weekend at this early stage of the season you know it's going to be fluid. Kale Macara was number one for me when he was number three Hughes's sliding up to number two all of sin is really cooled off and most of his production has been on the power play. The same is true for Quin Hughes. He's power play weapon. That's kind of what we knew he would be early on. But the fact that Travis Green had him on the second power play unit I and then moves them up to the first power play unit and everything starts clicking. It's just because Quinn Hughes is an an incredible talent when it comes to skating. Obviously he's out with an injury right now it's day to day. Situation doesn't look too serious but he's a guy that generates so much with his feet and you watch him skate. There are very few guys in the NHL that skate like him that uses edges and the way that he can open up hips and open up ice. That's pretty incredible. And so that's been awesome nece- and then Kahlil Macara. He's had those those kind of inconsistencies that you would expect from any rookie but a lot of people thought that he would just breeze by that because of how good. He was in the playoffs last year. Not the case is this year. It's there bumps in the road but he's still producing. He's still faster than a lot of guys in this league. It's amazing to watch them skate. And Open ICE And I think those two guys are certainly the front runners. But we've got a long way to go. There's a lot that can happen. There are obviously guys that can that can kind of come up. And we've we've seen older players like Elliott for for for the Toronto. Maple leafs your your boy. The superman the soup boy way boy. Oh boy yeah. He'll he'll eventually the graduate to suit man but he is. He is an incredible. You know incredibly important for the Toronto Maple leafs. Because he's he gives them to give uh extra scoring I do. I think he'll win. The caller probably not. I think the fact that he's twenty five the fact that he's got so many years of experience voters probably won't go that way but he's a guy that I think warrants attention just because of how much meant to a maple leafs team that that needs middle of the lineup scoring let needs players to be contributing on entry level contracts is really what you mean one last thing I want to touch on for you before we switch gears and this team that starting to let the kids play one is. The islanders isn't will hold off on that because we're going to have Brandenburg. But they do have no adopts in Oliver Wallstrom in the lineup. Even though they're getting liberals especially Dobson but a team you and I follow pretty it closed. The Chicago Blackhawks is turning to the kids. Not only is Kirby doc sticking around Adam vocalists. They called up which was pretty shocking to some people. What do you think this all means? I think it means that that the blackhawks are no that they have a lotta holes in that these guys are just about ready to fill them now. I think if you're an NHL. Tim You don't WanNa make need need based decisions on your prospects. You don't WanNa be in that position that's the position the blackhawks are right now. Kirby DOC has three points in eight games so so far atom. Boca scored a goal in the second game in absolute wiring shot. I mean it was a beautiful shot and showed his skill but these are two guys that still have a lot to learn Kirby doc did not dominate the whol on a consistent basis last year. He missed training camp You know with with the concussion from rookie the rookie tournament. So I think they're going to be a a lot of growing pains for him but he's looked very comfortable. They have them on the power play. They're giving them opportunities that's the most important thing he didn't exactly like the H.. On fiery scored his first. Ahl Goal scored his first NHL goal and that was his first H. I'll point so I mean the fact that the blackhawks are willing to get these they need players to push. Is there veterans and. I think that that's kind of what we're seeing with. These two guys right now and and and also Alexander who had been there from the start of the season I I think he's playing ahead of where I thought he would. But the blackhawks are in a situation. It's it's need-based and it's not always the best situation. But if the kids can can prove that they can hang then then then you're you're you're feeling all right but I think that this is a situation. The blackhawks have to monitor really closely because focus and two of the most important players in the entire organization right now oh and you cannot get that wrong because they are going to be. The future of that team protect the organization at all costs. That's the hockey motto. All right we're going to switch gears like okay said in a pretty dramatic way a product. I've been working on for couple. I couldn't even say months now. It's been weeks but months is. NHL Player confidential dropped on ESPN DOT COM on Tuesday. I was super pumped about it because as I do I just ask players all the ridiculous questions that I'd like to ask them like which team has the worst visiting locker room do you ever burner twitter account does the NHL have a cocaine problem. Do you have gritty fatigue not to put you on the spot but I'm curious if he saw it and if there's is that anything that stuck out to you I saw it all right. Yeah I mean this is this is GonNa be you lighten up on the Internet and I I love it I think. Certainly Poor Winnipeg I. I think that's one takeaway. Sorry Winnipeg on isn't cardinal rule of the NHL reporting number. One is that if there's a bunch of jokes it's typically Winnipeg..

"Listening to New York. Islanders hockey on the islanders radio network to Brooklyn Philp will had the overtime winner. That allowed the islanders to beat the blues. Barry trucks was asked what the veterans center has meant to his club. Well, he's he's a big part of that. Now, guys like vowel and Leo. I mean, they're not sexy acquisitions during the summer, but there are invaluable to the depth until the culture and to the. The building culture of guys and trying to change not that there. There's a lot of good things were worried place. It's getting trying to get it to the next level. So those are those guys have been there ain't vowels. Gotta ring ring. I don't think Leo could kill some of the guys played a lot of playoff games. And all those things and played a high level teams. So those that's that's important. Barry trots on bow below nine hundred nineteen games joker in a regular season. And other one hundred fifty eight in the play offs old thousand seventy seven career games in the National Hockey League. Really gets better. The only three other players in the NHL who played over nine hundred game for don't have an overtime. Jay Bowman Chris Kunitz and Brooks sport, at least there was in that game couple of nights ago groups, I'll hear the devils have cut it to a two-goal lead for the islanders on Marcus. Joe Hanson's seventy years Persson and brat. The assist at seven oh seven is first goal in nine games than the other two guys. You mentioned on that list. Both scored in overtime in the playoffs for the penguins here at the Coliseum in two thousand thirteen two games. The islanders would like to forget his that tip the balance of that series. And of course, Pittsburgh would take it in six that would make it a two goal game. And now they will try to get it back, but they turn it over in the neutral zone. The right wing over the Allender line looking for green above the left circle. The capital of the devils for Boyle behind the internet disaster fresh off the visiting bench soccer lost his stick. Or check. That did in a battle with Zakir. Now bowl gets twig back boil fires from the right half word, and it's waffled away by Leonard to the near corner. Devils keeping alive ju- Stafford on the left wing corner. Violent rice being worked over by Mayfield. Trying to get it to a teammate and Seaney who overskated and that boys Zeldin ice flip past since fairly left wing to center. Josh gets the middle line thousands in on goal and heads off on a gene. Linemate mobilier remains out there. Both the left circle skates. It down the Slavic Lauterbach. We traffic the net. Put it in front looking Zeke is but it was perfectly tied up by Andy green and Casey couldn't make contact left to the main four skates. Their grievances. Zeke is easily take a favourable bounce off of them into a vacated farsighted that we're Blackwood was still on the near side. But the bounce doesn't come. And again as three one I send it all the way down. It was a rolling fuck on edge that ended up going on net for the gate an icing and now it's out of play in the New York bench. We are seventeen seconds for the midpoint of the third. The islanders three the devils. One for the devil was shut out. This. So. Periods actually over six because he back to the last century. Deb's did not score a third fear to that. Once a long time between goals for the devils on islander home-ice over six. Periods. Were doesn't seem to matter. Now with a three one lead though on Johnson's goal and Markus. Johannesson had a huge goal in the game between these two teams November twenty third in New Jersey. He tied the game with ten point two seconds to go. Of course, MATT BAHR Zell would go into overtime on black Friday dental send it behind the net. I Robin letter when he was a member of the Buffalo Sabres last devils within an island or is the let's go islander champ picks up. There are some devil fans in attendance as there usually are and a great atmosphere for hockey at the old barn on Hempstead turnpike here on Thursday night. All he's got to remain out there and his defensive zone chasing Sierra's into the blue light. One pretty low of it third period goal for the governor was but just six and three for the three words. The devils. Twenty shots of the game compared just thirteen for the devils again style game as you keep the shots low, but the quality for the islanders certainly high right circle to the left of Blackwood endeavor lies and Zeke is beaten on the draw by Kevin Rooney and the puck behind the New Jersey net. "Had a couple of hits as well. What can you say about the physicality in these games, you think it's a little escalated? Yeah. I mean, it's always going to be a little bit especially islanders Rangers. You look at the history at some of the guys in the lineup. That's going to happen. That's still part of hockey. And you know, I think we got a good team to play that game. So we just keep going. Last night's goes, physical and probably another physical gamble. Thanks so much better. Select Russell eggs. Defenseman Scottie Mayfield as he talked between periods with our Dan Hansen again, no score. After one island this out shot. The Rangers ten eight hours for over three on their power play the blue shirts for one with the man advantage. Greg got the Superstock first period. Shots on goal for the islanders led by Ross Johnston or a pair and Anders Lee will also had to go Johnston. Also, the islanders were three of the teams eight hits three the other sixteen hits mcquaid with three hits as well. In the faceoff department. The islanders with the advantage winning ten what team draws. Oh period to underway in a scoreless game Rangers in the traveling white. They are trimmed in blue and red they'll go right to left his beard with Alexander Georgiev between the pipes to our right? Blue there aren't white left to right with rod Leonard between the pipes to our left. I'm gonna start in ranger territory quarterback on the right half trying to keep it in with the help of that Martin Martin put it in the left wing corner forces in Carello battle there. Casey throws hit on Zouk. Zouk twist around Zeke is what the Rangers come away with the puck. But now miscast going the link to the ice will result in icing against the Rangers. Just thirty seven seconds into the middle frame the difference between that period and the first three prior. Teams score early. Each of that five minutes into the game. Number one twenty nine seconds into the second one thirty eight in just two nights ago. I game four I. Last two games. Three vehicles tonight. Not break. The Rangers have never won a game here in Barkley sound is the fourth year, the owners have called this building home thousands of won all seven meetings against the Rangers. And this is the last meeting of this season between these two teams Kreider fires from the left hand boards in Ireland rice misses it wide, right? And on the fresh ice it ends up back ranger territory. Tony the Angela is working to the Allender line touch the head by Leedle Fouts's Ford Leonard but cut off by teams foot around his goal comes farside for Beauvilliers and ill-advised between the legs pass easily. Intercepted by to heal. Now. Shortland territory rolls behind the net. Misses hit on bars. L and mobility looking for a way out in the far corner of his own and goes, the tapes poking around near boys and now Bailey dangerous cross ice speed. But the ability on it at center over the ranger line, the bars L of of the left circle bars, L dot back hand off the chest of your and the rebound cleaned up by Leedle will skate it to his own blue line ahead to foster puts it behind the internet looking for a chain Scottie Mayfield checks over his shoulder. Pushes it behind the goal and Luca. Spezia begins therefore, the islander jewelry to rush for and Belleville drives towards the Rangers. Follow him a little bit of a path to take the shot. That's solid. Stop though. Senate ranger ice. Once again Spezia. Can't hold the blue line left side. And when he pushed it in with Lee in the zone, delayed offside the captain tags up. And now the Rangers able to break it out over the our line, easy down wall. Put it behind the net. Mayfield, a deep tangled up their income speeds at a help for the islanders visi centers. If what how unable to get a true as Leonard paddle down left to the paint made the stop Rangers keep it alive, though. It's placing it left point firing through a screen and got the back glass. I'm not sure thought George nearly the other way to Anders Lee at the red line sends it behind the ranger net picked off there by your year. He will teed up for Kevin shattenkirk. And it'll start the blue shirt breakout. Shattenkirk off the window nearside got some help from the put it behind the internet. And now Leonard his trapezoid plays at farside nicely on the tape of Leo, Tom com. Rob little drop pass over the ranger line. Top left circle bluff cut behind the ranger net. Tried to work it in front. Boy. Chuck Holden incentive point point for Nicoletti shot. And got down in front never made it through the net lead. He got it back again left point left. Half ports. Now, Phil right point for Johnny Bush suck wind. Fires dribbles in on goal. You're have the same and he'll cover right of the crease. No score sixteen fifty to go in the second. Shot deflected off the stick. Getting away MacLeod McLeod. Johnson. Those two fighting each other for the second time. Take a look at the ground because mystic broken that heart shot from Johnny. From the bench for his next shift, including the clouds with a broken hand what he fought Ross Johnston in the first game of the series at Madison Square Garden, and he missed the next fourteen games. He was not willing to fight rough Johnston Thursday night at the garden Johnston wanted him to go in the opening twenty seconds of the contest instead fighting Matt Martin, and we gave Matt Martin the decision in that one. The Barry Johnson. I thought something was up. And that's why I put Ross Johnson in the lineup ahead of Michael Dell coal and sure enough. He was right that Rangers were going to try to get rough. The snap was a four game losing streak, but now is five following the islanders four three win. Rangers are the puck at centers zuccarello gave it up at the line. Nicoletti begins again from there again, let it hit the crossbar from left point late in the opening period. The closest any player from either side came to lighting, the lamp islanders sport line goes to work on the four check Matt Martin and the right wing wall of ranger is couldn't keep it alive. The blue shirts bring it out the center Kreider turned it over this the secrets Casey to the left circle. Christiane and it got the back last and deflected out of play. Just over four minutes into the second the Rangers and islanders remained scoreless today in Brooklyn rider trying to dump that game with a stick. As soon as Kreider sets of trying to get that by with a little. The puck cases Ezekiel takes that shock. Richard Al flight toward hit the glass office building event for Josh daily. Failing in the left circle against his former teammate Ryan Strom and Strom beats belly pulls it behind the ranger net and the blue shirts. Start the breakdown on the nearside wall. Zelda wanna steal then gave it back. Bailey. Took it. Right back in the right wing corner. Ranger ice on this killer bees line for the islanders again. Bailey and bars L their top unit. Bailey in the right corner to pull it right point. Details at left snapped one wide left of the net. Playing rebound Bailey poke it on goal left to the paint. But your paddle down made the save. And then the Rangers hoisted high in the air to send rice thousands around the island in line tapes. Trying to get it out of his states instead bars L grabbed it and started his own and now making his way to center before he turned it over under pressure either right wing over the online little trap pass for Strom. Curls on the right dot centerpoint for twice in stride, knocked down by letter loose. Fuck. It was left proud and trying to cover can't get him arrangers Abbott behind the net. He'll moving in front. Unable to get the shot up was fast and finally Polack ahead. The tapes joint the Rutgers center at the ranger line. Believe it for bars. L the second Australia moment of the game in the elders. And and it starts with the wars change the puck in the neutral zone by the line change. So but Wyler's had dark backwards defensive end in the letter meets the stop Rangers work it out the center here. Yes. For FOSS gets the middle line puts it behind the net. So he can go off on a chain without the icing and Scottie Mayfield Scott from behind his own goal that I'll fill his own cross is the speeds a left wing through center gets the red line whips it around the shelf farside to near but that deflects out of play still no score five and a half in the second today at Barclays center in the game nights ago. This is the second half of a home and home series between the two for just the first time since two thousand five are these looking to get their first sweep of a whole. Home since October two thousand five hundred hundred hundred twentieth at that game on the nineteenth. Was the first ever shootout for both of these two teams against ROY Chris in that one and were the in both of these teams will play tomorrow night. The Rangers will be in Columbus to take on the blue jackets at six o'clock is welcome in the league's best Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night year at seven pm is the owls roll on George. He will cover Greg. The whitening are seventeen one and one in their last nineteen games. They will be in buffalo tonight. So the have a little bit of an advantage. They'll be waiting for the bolts to arrive but Tampa right now rolling with seventy points on the season and only eight regulation losses all year strat was rest as well. Because the owners this game by thirty four o'clock in the afternoon, and then just had home from here rather than Buffalo New York where the lightning are. So they won't be able to get on a plane until eleven eleven fifteen tonight. To an hour to this area, then from we'll get to their hotel rooms until about one o'clock in the morning. Been terrific and games on back to back days this year nine and one overall four and one of the front end five on the back end. They won their last nine straight games played on back to back days here there still scoreless with the Rangers would fourteen o five the the second Rangers get it keep an island rice. But it's going to be whistled down on an offside choppy stock to the second beer shop favoring the islanders overall in the game thirteen to ten remarkable. Number five or no. Secondhand fell back to back kids forty islanders. Sometimes you're gonna play against an opponent in which you're both tired. So no real advantage to he knows type of contest, but the elders are. When the islanders please the night before and the opponent is rested. So that's really true as marketable set. Again. It's the first time in Ireland or history. They've actually sweat four straight back to game sequences. So they've never done that team history. This is their forty six season in the National Hockey League is Robin Leonard year gloves a bouncing FOX and in the neutral zone, and we have a whistle festival. Take a time out no score. "Coach for the university of Manitoba's women's hockey team. Great story, somebody should do a story. I don't know if any of the columnist out there that might listen to this podcast would want to put pen to paper to write a column about some of the stories of the emergency goaltenders seems to happen. At least a half a dozen times during the course of the year sickness injury. They signed somebody off the street that we the back of cold goaltender. Occasion. We saw it in Chicago last year where they actually get to see some action. Sometimes it's a real fun story. And it's one of the kind of cool things about the goaltending in the National Hockey League's not quite the way. It was back in the original six era. We'd have to borrow a goaltender in the arena that belonged to the property of the other team. Like if Montreal's playing Toronto in Toronto and jock plot got her Toronto. What have to supply the backup goaltender that was actually being paid by the Leafs? That's how weird things were back then so it's not quite to that level. But still kind of a cool story. Thor says thoughts on the idea the penguins are going down the same road as the Blackhawks what once was top talent aging. It's a great question. I mean, obviously Crosby's thirty one he's hurt right now. But when he's healthy he stoneleigh player Malcolm's playing terrific Kessels playing terrific the problem. I think with the Pittsburgh Penguins right now. I don't think it's at the level of Chicago where everybody got old at once. It's just that they need to get more from their other ancillary players, and they also have to. Figure out the goaltending. It's not all on dismiss. But there's been times where you look at the goaltending. You just say is this where you want the goal tending to be last night Murray, you know, gave up four goals dismiss spin. Okay. Murray's been okay. We're an era now where offenses aplenty and you need your goal tending to be good. And and I'm not sure that the caliber of goaltending. They're getting a Pittsburgh right now is really getting the job done Brian asked the sixty four thousand dollar question. Why can't the Rangers win in Brooklyn you when you think about fifteen sixteen? All right. That's when the island has started to play in Brooklyn. So that was the Rangers coming off their fourteen run to the Cup and their fifteen run to the conference final. So in fifteen sixteen there were a playoff team in sixteen seventeen. The Rangers went to the second round of the playoffs. Didn't go to the playoffs last year. I owners went to the playoffs once as well in that span of time back in sixteen and went to the second round. So you could make a case that these teams have been pretty much unequal footing over the last three plus years, and yet Rangers can't do it. Let me tell you. I think it comes down to this. And this might not be something that a lot of people can understand. But I think I can articulated because of coming from the tri-state area where there are multiple teams in every sport. Okay. Only people in Chicago. Can appreciate it. Because you've got the White Sox and the cubs and people in southern California can appreciate you got the ducks and the kings dodgers and the angels. And you know, the Rams and the chargers now and the clippers and the Lakers, but there's very few places where that happens these that I think there's always gonna be that second team in town. And in some cases, the Anders depending on what's happening with the devils of the third team in town. And it probably aggravates all those islander players that when they play in Brooklyn half of the building is filled with ranger fans. And when the Rangers score the building lights up now lights up a little more when the islanders score. But it's probably a little bit disconcerting that you feel like you're not getting the quintessential home ice advantage in a probably makes you play with a chip on your shoulder. You know, this is this is a time. With the really get paid attention to other than their die hard fans. And it's a great rivalry. And the Rangers come in is the big brother and the islanders of the little brother, and maybe the intensity is in the same. Kevin shattenkirk set up before the game last night, we have to match their intensity. So it right there..

"It is now time because it's Friday that means it's time for my top five of the week on the records Friday top five. I'm gonna put them over the Winnipeg Jets just because of the fact that Columbus is been a bit of a surprise here. They played two more games than Winnipeg six two and two in their last ten games. They're a plus three goal differential declares play. Pretty well. From them. Got the see them live on Saturday. The not getting great goaltending. Panara and has been okay to been skis been pretty solid as well. So let's give the Columbus. Blue jackets some love. They are topped the metropolitan division. So we have them coming in at number five number four. I'm going to go with Minnesota at number four. They're seven and three over their last ten games. We mentioned dump has got seven goals stalls got six played without Parisi last night. They're getting great goaltending as they usually do there in Minnesota. So they're kind of resurgent plus eleven goal differential among the best in the National Hockey League. They're winning at home at six one and two above water on the road as well. So I'm gonna go with Minnesota and number four number three. I think Nashville has got to drop out of the. Top spot. I got him a number three six three and one over their last ten games. But you know, what this road is kind of exposed them just a little bit. No Arvidsson, no sue band. So they've they've had injuries. Remember, they survived the injury of Riina. But now they're starting to lose some guys that can really score for them. So after not losing it all on the road now. Oh, two and one in their last three. This is still the best team in the National Hockey League to me, but it was kind of a tough week for Nashville. So I slide them from one down to three number two kind of doing the same thing with Tampa six and four in their last ten games. They're also playing without their starting goaltender which is might be exposing the just a little bit. They got been back like this Tampa team quite a bit. But you know, what I want to keep an eye on them with the golden egg situation that they're in nice win in. Pittsburgh penguins. Are really struggling. So I wanna give love to a new number one. So I've got Tampa at number two number one. How about the Toronto Maple Leafs? Usually those eastern teams they go out west. And even though the west isn't strong this year, the kings aren't very good San Jose still trying to find their way, but Toronto's just been undaunted continuing to score goals. They're an amazing eight and one on the road. So after the Nashville slip up this week Toronto's the best team in the National Hockey League. They've won two in a row both in the Western Conference won seven of their last ten games. They gotta figure it out a win on the road at home. They're five and five and home in their ten games. But still twenty six points in nineteen games. Played thirteen six and two one and acquisition for them. He's got twelve goals. Monir looked fantastic last night there surviving without kneeland. Or they really haven't missed a beat and Anderson's gonna play the ways been playing lately, this is a legitimate Cup contending team. So let's give the maple leaf some love. I've got them at number one. I let's hear from you at down the Greco hashtag game has conduct. And Sam says looks like defense in front of the net will. Be a priority in the Rangers practice the next few days too, many deflections last night did them in who was the best. You saw -fensive leeann defensively in front of the crease while I mean, that's that's what the islanders. Do. I mean, there are big heavy team that that they do have some speed certainly when you see bars L play. He's captivating of the two teams to me the best player on the ice last night was bars. L and he's the best player of the two teams combined to me for sure, but you know, what Brock Nelson does put the body in front of the net. Unders Lee did a great job of the deflection..

"But now Drouin starting to score elected and gets his second of the year midway through the third period to win it and a great performance by Carey prices he faced forty five shots and made forty three saves for the win. How about rating point a hat trick in ninety one seconds as the lightning beat the penguins? Final score there. Four to three we talked about it yesterday. Looks like it's going to be Demane for the foreseeable future. And he played pretty well penguins playing without Sidney Crosby and this one because of his injury looks like he's going to be out for about a week. So some problems there with Pittsburgh as far as the injuries are concerned different team. When Sidney Crosby is not gonna play that always is going to be a problem. So Sidney Crosby out Pittsburgh loses at home to Tampa four. Two three Florida has their five game winning streak snapped as they lose in Columbus to the blue jackets seven two three seven different goals scores for the blue jackets in this one. But there was a moment is Hoffman did assist on the glad goal. So now he sets the record for consecutive games with a point for the Florida Panthers. I'll get to see Florida live on Saturday. That'll be tomorrow when they come to Madison Square Garden solid win for auto a two one over Detroit. Minnesota gets back to their winning ways. The beak Vancouver. Sixty two so Vancouver closes out that road trip with three consecutive losses in regulation whore. Vat did get his tenth of the year, but Minnesota play and well stall gets his sixth of the year. Dump has had a nice season. He gets his seventh. What's up with the Nashville predators? They hit the road where they never lose. Now. Lost three straight games to close out this road trip. They did get a point of the other night against Anaheim lost to San Jose and lose to Arizona by the final score of two to one and Arezzo to jumped out to nothing. Lead. Grabner with his fifth d'humieres with its first Benino scores with about eight minutes to go and regulation. But not enough as the predators lose, the predators were shorthanded and this one with the injuries that they've been suffering from PK soon ban. Didn't play Viktor Arvidsson did not play. So some injuries piling up for the predators. Although they did have forty six shots on goal in this game. Spite coming up short Kemper, forty five saves tilt the coyotes to that. Impressive win over the Nashville predators and watch out for the Toronto Maple leaves. They just continue to roll through the Western Conference with a five to three win over the San Jose Sharks. And the story. And this one was Anderson is he faced forty five shots and made forty two saves to various gets his twelve th of the year. Captain gets a couple of tallies. Number seven eight on the season. Good back and forth game. But Toronto winning on the road as they win five to three the final score. There. We got games six tonight, which is a lot for a Friday, eight o'clock Bruins and the star. Ars from Dallas jets home for the sabres. Nice tests for buffalo who's ten six and two on the year. And of course, the Winnipeg Jets eleven and five eight thirty the kings and the Blackhawks from Chicago Chicago finally with a win ending their AAC game losing streak at nine capitals and avalanche that should be fun. Look at the firepower. That's gonna be on the ice with that one rancid in Landis Gog mcken. Ovechkin Backstrom coups nets off what a fun game that should be tonight at nine o'clock, ten o'clock. The blues really struggling against the struggling Golden Knights team blew six seven and three to start the year Golden Knights coming off that five nothing thrashing, the ducks with an eight ten in one record and the Maple Leafs Katina their western swing in Anaheim to take on the ducks. So that should be a lot of fun..

"League-record and welcome to the Friday edition of games conduct. Diam Don, the Greco lots to get to so many different places. We can start there. So many crazy games last night. Congratulations to empty Beauvilliers gets his first NHL hat trick. Is I four point game in the outer seventy five win over the Rangers. I don't know what it is ranger just can't win and Brooklyn. Oh, six and one in seven meetings at Barclay center since the islanders moved in there in two thousand fifteen twenty sixteen eight consecutive wins for the owners of the Rangers. That's a franchise record against the aisles. And consider there's a team won four straight Stanley Cups and never had an game winning streak against the Rangers. And the Rangers actually been pretty good over the last few years, but you know, for whatever reason the Rangers bring the best out of the islanders, and the chant in Brooklyn was you can't beat us which is going on for the last couple of years. Gotta see these teams play in the postseason would just be amazing. The crowd was a little sparse because of the bad weather in the state area. So it's a little over thirteen. Thousand people usually that's a pretty much guaranteed sell-out, especially with all the problems the had in Brooklyn, the Rangers bring a lot of fans and their spirited and their feisty. And it was a great call to just a wide open crazy game third time in the last four games. The Rangers of Blohm a two-goal lead had the first two goals this game. They get a power play goal from Kreider. They got a goal from clayson his first since November tenth of last year. So a calendar year for clayson his first goal is the ranger. But then the outer score six of the next seven goals Rangers make it interesting down six three get a couple of tallies to make it six five. But the Nelson scores the empty netter to put it away and a little disconcerting for Henrik Lundqvist allowed five goals on seventeen shots and did not play the third period. Alexander Georgi of played almost put himself into a winning situation. The Rangers really have no shot if Lundquist isn't going to play well and lung Quist did not play. Well, maybe for the first time in a while that that's been the case here. About the Rangers showed heart. They showed fight. But just not enough as this islanders team. Now's won a couple in a row after three straight losses. And I thought Greis was good to give up five goals, but he did face forty-one shots in the game. And some high quality saves to boot by the story is Anthony Beauvilliers getting his first four point nine. It's first NHL hattrick in the win the devils blanked the Philadelphia Flyers three nothing. So after the double struggled on the road. They've finally win a game in Philadelphia's they've undefeated so far in the state of Pennsylvania. Right. I mean, we're actually they did lose the flyers earlier this year in Philadelphia. But now the devils with their road victories three of them to against Pittsburgh in one against Philadelphia..

"Have lost some close games here in a row. What do you think it'll take this team to start winning these games when they get forty plus shots at night thoughts on Otto who has also tied the record for the most points in consecutive games. Sebastian Aho is a terrific player. Kneecaps? They sent down to the minor leagues. Very very young team. Carolina. And you've also got what seven different players on the team from last year similar to the Rangers. They gotta learn how to win these games. They get a lot of shots on goal. But they've gotta find some finish. That's for sure. But I think you're relying on a lot of young players. They're still trying to learn their way they'll figure it out. And rod Brindamour looks like he's going to be a pretty good coach. So I think they will kind of figure it out. But right now, they're getting the opportunities. They're getting the shots on goal that just have to learn to win some of these games. But they're still off to a good start of the playoffs. Started today they'd be in. So they've got to be pretty happy with their start. So. Good for them. And we'll see if they can continue, but they do have to learn how to finish. And I always kind of lean back toward the ranger sometimes when my analysis because that's the team that I cover, but David Quinn was asked a question the other day about finish and scoring is that a mental thing or physical thing. He kind of leaned on it being more of a mental thing that sometimes it gets in your head a little bit you take shots. And maybe you're thinking too much just that a blasting shot away Brett Hull setting never aimed. He just shot at the net. And because he shot so often eventually found the back of the net scored over seventy goals on the season one year. But I do think it's kinda combination of the both. But what you see is. When a player is competent and a pass comes across the middle. He will he'll one time. You know, it'll be a quick release. It'll score. It'll beat the goaltender a guy that struggling with his confidence will catch the puck, wait or hesitate a second, and then shoot and in that little split-second, which doesn't seem like it's a lot of time. When you watch the game. But it's enough time for the goaltender put himself in a position and score. Mean these goaltenders are terrific. So the idea of just putting a puck on the nets good one. But if you really want to beat the goaltender a lot of the time, it's got to be just a quick release. And if you're thinking too much about it, and it's in your head that split second hesitating could be the difference between a goal and an easy. Save for the netminder. Chris I Don in honor of Halloween. What's scarier for the twenty nineteen twenty season. Jack Hughes on a loaded Colorado Avalanche team or the young towns of New York Islanders who recently drafted his linemate, Oliver Wallstrom all good point for all that to Colorado thing. I mean Hughes on Colorado with all those young players is absolutely scary. And the avalanche. We've talked about before have gotten their goaltending situation settled I liked their blue line along with Gerard. Yeah. That's a Colorado team that could be very, you know, scary scary. Good. And again sorry for your fliers. But they really had a nice bounce back win last night. We'll see. If that can continue Jake says that top line Boston looks lethal with Ron Pasternak and Marsh, and do you see the three is the top line in hockey, if not what are some others that are up there with them. While certainly you look at he sheer hall and Palmeri with the devils off to a tremendous start. We've talked about it before Colorado with Rantanen Landis Kaga. Mckinnon tremendous line. There viciously good. Those are two of the ones that pop into my head. But certainly Boston's line has to be considered one of the best. We'll five minute major came through for me. Somebody had asked me yesterday about the scariest mascots, and to be honest with you only can come up with a handful off the top of my head. But of course, five and a major knows everything about hockey sends the tweet and Travis does a great job..

"So thanks so much guys from. For the for the tremendous feedback on that conversation yesterday. Charles says, hi, Don, thanks so much for the work with hockey. Love the coverage last night the Rangers gave up a late goal, but came back to win it different result than Sunday in Los Angeles. When they gave up the lead and the kings scored laid good sign for a team trying to build, and that's a great point Charles. And even coach said after the game David Quinn. You know, they're trying to learn how to win and I thought about this. And I brought this up on the Michael cassio, the sometimes we look at competitiveness as a step in the right direction. Well, the teams competitive. Yeah, they haven't won yet. They're not good. But it seems like they're in every game. Well, that's only half the battle to me. I mean, if I if winning a game is is one hundred percent, right. I think fifty of it comes from just being competitive in hanging in the game. The other fifty is learning how to win those games. So you lose a bunch of games to one. I guess you. Could Pat yourself on the back and say, we're not getting blown outbreak here break there. We can win. No. It tells me is is that your competitive. But you just haven't figured out how to win. And once you start to do that. Then it becomes a habit. And those are the times where you end up winning more than you lose. And last night would was a great opportunity for the Rangers to show that they're starting to learn how to win Sunday was an example of how maybe they're not really sure yet. So for them to be able to rebound and give the game away. Like, they did or at least give the opportunity for a point and an opportunity to win an overtime on Sunday. When the Alec Martinez goal was scored with less than fifty five seconds to go. They seem the learn their lesson. They they didn't hang their head after giving up the late goal they fought and they ended up getting the win. And you don't care to give the extra point to the other team because it's not in the conference. But the other thing is trying to do it more consistently. So go out and beat the ducks deductor eminently beatable winless in their last six get to in a row for the first time this season, then come home and see what you can do against buffalo and start adding to it getting to five hundred climbing above it. So you don't learn your lesson in one day. But at least you made a step in the right direction sets. Good observation from Charles Donal says, hey, Dan, love your show. You got to say good wins by the islanders last night over the penguins and the Rangers over the sharks. And the shootout of the devils got beaten badly by the lightning. Do you think they will recover? Yeah. I believe they'll recover. I mean tap is a really good team. And you kind of the figure you're walking into a buzzsaw after what happened the Tampa over the weekend. But what's disconcerting is jump out the to nothing lead? And that was pretty much at the rest of the night. So you can't allow Tampa team as skilled as they are what? Stamkos and kucherov even with headman out of a lineup. That's still a very very good team and get forty four shots on goal. My bed is you're not going to be winning too many games. When you allow that Tampa team that many opportunities now, eight goals is embarrassing for sure. But I think they have the ability to bounce back. Philip says, hi, Don when Babcock was in Detroit, I've heard that he and zebra didn't have a good relationship and the de Berk didn't like him as a coach is that true. True. If so was it always like that. Or was it something that happened that got that Aberg mad at him? Great question. I don't know. I can ask EJ when we have him on Monday. I've heard rumors about it. But I can't really speak to it. I will say this. Mike Babcock is a fascinating guy. I remember a conversation. I had with him. I was doing a game at Detroit and a couple of reporters I was actually with EJ. And we're kind of just sitting there at the old Joe Louis arena, and we were in the tunnel air outside the dressing rooms..

"You could see the body language from Hanky can't believe it. So here the Rangers playing their best game of the year. And they can't even win the game in regulation. And then they go to overtime. Both teams have a power play opportunity can't cash in on it and overtime. Hank makes another huge save at the end of overtime office shot from burns think about it. They almost they give the goal with one point three to go with like point six they could lost the game in overtime. Then they get. To the shootout. Hank wins a sixtieth shootout that breaks the tie with Ryan Miller for the most shootout victories in NHL history. Although the shootouts only been here for a since the lockout, but sixty shootout victories of and the big goal comes from Kevin shattenkirk in the third round. And the Rangers win the shootout. One nothing in a game four three. That's the ninth time in his career. The Kevin shattenkirk has won a shootout. And it's the second time this year. He also did it against the Colorado Avalanche earlier this season. So nice win for the Rangers of big one. We'll see if they can follow it up against the struggling duct team coming up on Thursday. And at least get a split of the four-game western swing, which I think the Rangers would definitely take in also get within two games of five hundred wounded return home to take on buffalo it Montreal before they have to hit the road again to take on Detroit and Columbus. Oh, nice win Kreider wakes up, and you could just see the coach was relieved. He really worked those guys in practice before the game disappointed with all the. Penalties. They've been committing disappointed in how they played five on five and they responded with a great game. And they get the win. And it just something about San Jose. The Rangers of beaten San Jose bowl times. They played them this year, and that's a team that can actually win the Stanley Cup. So the Rangers off to a tough start. But two of their four wins half of their wins of come against San Jose. They also beat them in San Jose last year. If you remember when the Rangers were struggling on the west coast just before the all star game and the Rangers were able to get a win against them out there. So something about the sharks brings the best out of the Rangers. And they did last night with a four three victory in the shootout. Just one game tonight. Blackhawks in the connects. It's actually a pretty good one connects back above five hundred at seven and six and the Blackhawks six three and three again, we get these days where there's one or no games that drives me crazy. And it's not till ten o'clock. So tough one with only the one game going on. But we did get a lot of games last night to break down and analyze and I'm really happy about that our best way to get in touch. From the as you know at Donald Gregg hashtag game is conduct. So let's hear from you. Troy says, hey, Dan, just wanted to say I didn't play NHL ninety four, but I played a bunch of games after that my favorite is NHL two thousand and four especially like the G M mode where you guide a franchise through twenty seasons and you had players from the two thousand and three draft in their rookie years yet two thousand and three draft one of the great drafts of all time pavilion. Sqi obviously Parisi some of the names that jump to mind in two thousand and three. So that that's cool as we continue to talk about how great NHL ninety four was and the reaction from everybody's been terrific even NHL ninety four has their own Twitter handle, and they tweeted about it. And they talked about women the podcast. I brought it up. So Artaud Cal who runs on the thing in Vegas that we talk about all the time the tournament. "Evan to try to put pressure on pulling the goaltender just could not get the equaliser. Nice win on the road for Minnesota a four three victory. Arizona's we talked about ahead of us in the Pacific Division. Five. One win for Ottawa five different goal scores for Arizona, including Derek step on getting a second of the year. And we told you to keep an eye on Philadelphia. What's going to happen? There are a lot of speculation possibly a coaching change three games under five hundred wickedly bad star. They had to start out on the west coast back on the west coast now to take on Anaheim. And that's a huge win for Philadelphia. When everybody's looking at this west coast trip possibly killing the flyers. They ended up getting a huge. Win. But it was still a very difficult. One to get Qatari gives them a one to nothing lead. After one period of play all bird ties it up in one approver off gets goal. Midway through the second period to make it to one Philadelphia's hanging on for dear life to that to one game. But then Aaberg gets his second. And it comes with the little over two minutes to go in the game. So it's tied up to all the mental belongs to the ducks two buildings up for grabs. It looks like Philadelphia now is going to have to battle overtime or the shootout to get that extra point. But not even a minute later Nolan. Patrick, it's his third of the year and that ends up winning the game for Philadelphia. So that's a huge win. We'll see if that propels them now into a little bit of a run here Elliott played well as he made twenty three saves in the victory. So keep an eye on Philadelphia. And also the ducks now winless in the last six, so we'll see if Anaheim is starting to fade here a bit. I didn't think they were going to be a playoff team this year. They got off to a very good start. And now. Now, I think that the warts are beginning to show on this ducks team is again winless in six they'll take on the Rangers tomorrow with a chance to see if they can't break that streak, but a real tough one for sure last night for the Anaheim, ducks and the New York Rangers. It's something about the San Jose Sharks. The Bing brings out the best in the Rangers. Rangers winning a shootout four two three back and forth game lot of fun in this one and Henrik long deserve to get this Victor. I thought he played very well. He was under siege. At times in this game. Burns gets the first goal. The Rangers come back less than a middle later tied up at one. It's one going into the third period. The Rangers will look bad on this road trip. Awful in Chicago brutal loss on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles against the kings. So what do you do I'm doing the pre imposed? So in the second intermission. I had to analyze what the Rangers need to do in the third period. And I'm thinking to myself, do you try to open it up to get that goal? But if you do look at the skill that, San Jose has with burns and Carlson. And and Turin Pavlovsky Thornton came back after missing nine games with a knee injury. And hurdle has always been a ranger killer that you really open yourself up to date. Getting beep Kreider scores early in the third period to make it to one midway through Meyer gets his nine point in nine consecutive games. The tie backup to Kreider comes right back to give the Rangers the three to lead. They're playing their best game of the year. They already had beaten San Jose earlier in the season. And then as killer gold as you can have one point three seconds left. Hurdle gets the goal..

"In the victory. Pasternak is becoming a nice surprise the season with eleven goals. Brad Marchand gets a couple of tallies for Boston as well. We talked about it yesterday. When you've got the Detroit Red Wings coming to your building that has to be two points, especially when you're battling in a very difficult metropolitan division that didn't happen Detroit gets their third victory of the year. They be Columbus. Five to three. Rasmussen Larkin mantha with unanswered goals in the first period made at three nothing you're scoreless in the second. So going into the third period. Detroit had a three nothing lead. But give give Columbus credit Anderson Navarra and DuBois get goals to tie it up at three so midway through the third period. They get back they tied at three. But then with less than three and a half to go. Ober Tuesday gets his fourth. Larkin gets the empty netter his six and a second of the game to win it for Detroit. You know, Columbus, slipping just a little bit here. Again. The goaltending not great last night. It's corpuscle gets the start and he gets pulled right away after giving up three goals on seven shots, but Brodsky came in and allowed another goal after that. But just a tough night for Columbus. John Tortorella had a fifty seven second press conference. So you knew that he was probably on edge really not wanting to talk to the media. I guess the big thing that came out of it. Somebody asked him that your team deserved to win last night. And he said no kind of stormed off so nice fight by Columbus to tie game backup. But ultimately Detroit wins the game Nashville beats Vegas four to one in d start to get a little concern about the Vegas Golden Knights now. Again, you're going to Nashville and you take it on a predator team. That is probably as good as any team in the league. Right. But the predators have lost three games at home this year. But ultimately, it's not just about one game for Vegas. It's been basically an average start to their season. There are dozen games in five six and one eleven points. And when you look at that Pacific Division right now, and how wide open things can be. You wonder would Vegas can do as they sit now in seventh place. They are head of Los Angeles by four points staying out of last place. But Anaheim has struggled mightily. We'll get into them and just a second still appoint better better than Vegas. Arizona's appoint better than Vegas. It's still very early in the season. But I think we all kind of looked at last year as a possible aberration mean they proved it they survived all the goaltending injuries. They were the best team in the Pacific Division last year. They survived the playoffs until they got to the Stanley Cup finals on nobody saying that it was a fluke..
