He gathered, spruce root birchbark and spruce gum all the materials. He needs to build a birchbark canoe. He points out some sweetgrass as sweet-smelling sacred medicine used in ceremony. He knows this area like the back of his hand. And really enjoyed the life right by the water I really really lucky and blessed to be a really close into your own fresh water and fish like that, and of course the Pelicans that we saw today in the ducks and geese and stuff like that. Here is. One of the basin monistic when Lake were Kevin, ancestors used to camp and fish. It's where he used to swim with his cousins from dawn until dusk. We don't need the go home. You know the Cisco back from the water again. What do you think it tastes I'm trying to put my finger on it. I'm not sure kind of like for me. "And you can fermented at home now you might say why kefir well here's the thing you might be taking yogurt for the probiotics in it but your order is a lot like island lake state recreation area you're only going to get three probiotics the three yeah okay kefir is like Muskegon wastewater system they both use fermentations it tastes like that yes and also there five hundred twelve thousand three hundred and fifty two strains of probiotic in a refreshing glass of key for fear of fear now I know you're asking me Bob Kiefer hi well Donald Sutherland gets together with who he does now with the win win for you hardly had produced key for what yeah with a Farley Granger Farley Granger so all you do just to make it short all you do is you get some key for grains they look like little cauliflower is but they're creatures they are creatures and they love drinking milk so you buy some ky for grains I got mine from the key for lady on a mine looking like cauliflower no they love it because it gives them more surface area to drink milk so you just told a lot of key for grains put him in a glass jar and cover it with milk three four cups of milk and that's even a little creature that key for green creature and by the next morning you've got yourself a fermented milk drink that's loaded with goodness just brimming with probiotics sour in easy who needs repairs milk when you can get whole milk key for that you have proved yourself over god that sounds really good I've been everywhere I think everyone on everyone's behalf I want to thank you well I guess I've had so many photographers email me and ask me for arresting and that was it now what's the purpose of kefir which is supposed to do Fauria well it just adds six trillion microscopic organisms of bacteria and yeast to your got in you know a healthy life begins with a healthy got rules yes yeah we about it yeah here's here's a vehicle which all I think we broke some park regulation by speaking about fermented beverages what he was going to hit us just about yeah well he's parking right next to it yeah us the way so before we go out and start burning and looking at my battery level indicator we may be a little trouble it looks like we only have enough battery power for fifty eight hours no no yeah and I was going to kind of make this a marathon podcasts well a lot of people don't know that we actually do record fifty dollars worth of material to fermented to the to this final form we do and I are five million jokes that you have to digest in each podcast but you know we're all jumped out that's the problem we did too many jokes and we're just choked out I think people realize that yeah she was getting out of the car back there I don't like it the senior mayor I'm I'm looking I'm trying to be subtle about it so I'm going to just before we go out I'm just going to open the are just the birds ma'am feature by talking about a recent rare bird I saw in bill you weren't able to go any because you were doing something important hello all absolutely but I saw a bird called a rough at least listen waste water I did it was I think it escape from Scooby doo I'm not sure but pardon but the rough now here's the thing I don't get okay went maybe I can help you this yoga pants I think so they may just be running athletic pal I might be yeah just commenting on something that's hanging from a sign up here is pants hanging from a sign and we wondered what they were so I went to see the rough which is a really rare bird in Michigan and this is what bothers me the fictional station of birding wool because I know it's full lives well the thing is that I read again I believe the Peterson field guide that this is a bird from Eurasia you know I'm not yup it's not supposed to be in United States arose from Eurasia and I'm thinking can't pull the wool over my eyes I read nineteen eighty four that's one of those made up countries like Oceania and Australia right it sure is yeah so sure is so I was very insightful view yeah so it was this very beautiful shore bird and I was also mad because when I went to Muskegon waste water I wanted there to be plenty of other birders just the point and show me where the bird was so I knew him do any work at all but no no one was there because we're having a wind storm at the time and I had to find a bird myself but it was it was a shore bird it was in with some troll sand papers what was it doing there well I don't know I got out of the girl sent papers feel about that I don't know they're flexing their packs but the home the rough was bigger than the mall he was kind of chasing them yeah sure yeah that's right no one likes the rough no maybe that's why the ref got kicked out of your range and she I think I don't know exactly where you're raising his right but it's a long ways away yeah I mean it's like the north and south American land mass that really narrows it down I saw two can't where's the two can from old north and South America wow that yeah well bill this is going to be hard I I have let me think about that for a minute mmhm it's gonna be hard to believe but you know how sometimes we talking talking talking we've only field seven minutes yeah we've hardly done anything except photography corner and it's fourteen minutes have passed already are you kidding knowing you didn't get to talk about bill has a new feature called radios too big to fit in your pocket yes I would think about this for a long time to be a long time to sell Bob by the idea but I think it's a good idea all right so after a we'll do some live birding here if you are you ready to brave the temperatures again well I found my hat okay all right so we're gonna try we're burning just for you folks we don't want a bird we don't want to be here we hate it right absolutely we Los is what you feel is what we doing here yeah we'd rather be extinct absolutely but just for you we're gonna go birding right now so we'll be back hope you better enjoy it yeah Jeez we have the most ungrateful listeners any podcast on the plan never hear why any of that in a positive.

"Very, very long time. And with summer, sometimes we get water. Yeah. Water kills in water could get straw lot of things in. It's destroying some homes right now. And causing credible discomforts. The good news is we to my knowledge if that had any deaths. In this region directly related to the water. I hope I'm not wrong on that. But we still have to be careful because this water is not only powerful. It's also very dirty at this point in time. So I wouldn't recommend probably swimming in the lake for a couple of days until this stuff, washes out, plus in love, this lake water right now you've got a lot of debris coming down the rivers. And that debris can also cause great damage to boats and, and to human. So what a time in there, and there's the politics of window released the water upstream, and those politics, hopefully this is art may spun politics. I don't think they are at Duke Energy company who controls the dams, they're based upon science, the science of how long the dams can hold up and also the spillway as can hold up at the upper dams because of any, those breakdown, you've got major catastrophe upstream, which causes even more catastrophe downstream. And you mentioned debris, actually boats and pieces of boats have been part of that debris. No doubt about it. Yeah. Some of the boats and docks become unhinged and start floating down the river. And when they float down the river, they hit other docs and other boats, and then they hit the bridges, and then they'd calls damage to the bridges and highway sixteen bridge got hit by several boats. I don't think there's any damage to that bridge, but there's probably some damage those boats right now. Well, and as you pointed out yesterday, and always say we hear about mountain island lake and, and now we're hearing about the south fork river and you're hearing about lake lake Wylie because at all going down. Yeah. Hits lake Wylie last and lake Wylie will then get probably the most Abry and the most. Very, very strong current coming down lake Wylie to in the biggest the biggest issue in..

"With me. Oh, so awesome. I dunno the week other Super Bowl he might he year. The eagles were there. Right. Eagles are playing in Jackson. You're going to come and get breakfast. I came back came in there. They brought me right in the room with all the guys. So great. What's up fellas? Can you imagine that they're in? I knew some of the coaches that were on the staff writer we start reminiscent about the old days. We have the last thing they want to think about it the game. They want to think about everything out breakfast with Andy Reid the three days before the bears in the chiefs play in the Super Bowl. I would love it Brian's in island lake on ESPN one thousand eight Brian. Ryan Brian going once. Yes. Doing good. Thank you. I just saw I'm trying to figure out with this. Manny thing we were talking with New York. Yup. I got a feeling if he was the goal there. They're gonna pay him for sure. So you got Stanton. He got probably Manny. What would I think in? Somebody's got. Yeah. Nobody Austin sputtering on the pinstripes. But now he's meeting with Philly. Now, I think they could now I think Bryce Harper will be a butter shot to go to Philly 'cause they could pay him that contract that seems like originally it seemed like Philly was out in front, and I don't know I feel like that's cooled with Bryce Harper or I could Steve right going to Elway. Manny Stein's with the stocks by this weekend. I will trade for a week, and that would fit the ducks pretty good. I don't know. I'm not a big guy. But I'm not so sure it's a slam dunk that man is gonna end up ten stripes just as they can pay him. All these teams that are talking to them can pay him in the Yankees almost made it sound like you got to prove to us. Why you wanna come here, man? And I'd be like I have a good life socks. Put more of a full court press on so Craig's in Chicago on ESPN one thousand eight Craig. Hey, guys love the show. First time caller. Karm? I I want to say I love your idea about draft on quarterback every other round. I. Every other year. That's that's that is the way to go just to cover basis moving forward, though. I wanna talk about the forty Niners game. I think I would like to see our offense put up at least like three touchdowns maybe a couple of field goals. And if our defense plays like we expect them to and we had in the third quarter up. I say seventeen like that we poll we pulled Trubisky we pull some of the offensive players and put it on our defense to hold out if it comes to the Vikings making it in that game, it's Weiqing win. And they're in. I say we play everybody we do everything we can win that game. Because we saw what happened against the Packers and twenty ten so then thanks Craig. It'd be nice to the bears up twenty eight to three going into the fourth and they can rest some guys. But I don't expect that to happen. Believe it or not the Niners. We've been saying this, they're they're they've been a tough team at home. They've moved the ball at home. They scored some points at home Mullins has been much much better at home pedestals emerged as like a. Legitimate threat for him in the passing game. The rookie Dante Pettis what's the update on Brita? The prompt Manfried is always hurt when he's out there. He's good. And I think there's another undrafted guy wasn't Breda undrafted another undrafted guy. Running back averaging five yards of Kerry. Look brita. Hold on. Let me he's always hurt which is an issue. And and he got dinged up again last week she for your fantasy team it's their darn writing. But yeah, I don't think the bears will be up Madeline Rita drafted. Can't was he drafted. I don't think he was his Wiki Prideaux was limited in practice. The other limited, okay? Was he in undrafted player? Chris. I'm almost positive. He was in his first two years. He's averaging five yards of Kerry. Yes. An undrafted free agent Lindley map of the I mean, you find these guys everywhere never draft a running back in the first round anyway well in real draft, but I'd say in the fantasy draft you definitely want to you. That's different. That's fan. Because I had mentioned fantasy. I wanted to go ahead and differentiate between the two that's what I wanted to hold on. I got it right here on draft. Guys. Got it got it. A draft in two thousand seventeen I told you I needed to coffee you've got an extra pep in your step. I do now thank heavens. Oh, boy might be playing a little cards tonight to car you. Yup. It's a nice before Christmas. Be careful. All you gotta love that. Yeah. Yeah. Nothing gets crazy. Good with the boys, you know, poker? But is there any other type guards? I mean, what else do you do Texas holdem? Now, we won't be playing buddy Shula, what's breach. But it's July the Italian game that I told you about I don't ask you father, your grandfather, they might not have both gone. My grandfather, I'm sorry to hear that could they made it to their nineties. They did. Well, nice job to my ninety s that'd be thinking about I listen, if we can make it to our ninety s I'm going to be a burden on the government at that point. Do you know that didn't Kirk Douglas just turn like one hundred hundred and two can you imagine looking kid a hundred not really not anymore? One hundred and two I mean, Michael Douglas is starting to wear down. You've seen him lately. Like eighty still alive. It's insanity. Spartakist man, what he's specked Spartacus just doesn't die in any way. I mean, I'm waiting for him to ascend into heaven hundred into I don't even know if I wanna make it to one hundred and two well, I mean if you if you can't function. No. I mean, just when I'm I don't want to become a burden on the children. But they're not put me in a nursing home. I told him you put me in a nursing home. Not a penny. Not to any you changed. The will of media member that instantaneously, I'm both my grandfathers lived into their nineties. I think that bodes well for me. I hope you're good shape right now. Yeah. "Wow. The birds are serenading us. So it's almost like being at island state recreation area with. Oh, yes. Famous wealthy country and western singer. Birger lined up on this branch seeing right to us there. Okay. Well, let's go see what else we can find here. So there's some puddles here where we're walking. We're walking Bai's to here on river. I think we're walking into here on river right now. Yeah. But you know, some people might be kind of a glass half full kind of person about this. But I say it's the here on river coming up over the banks to greet us today. Yeah. Yeah. In blocking our way. Yeah. Yeah. Fine. And we haven't seen any more birds are heard any yet. But remember we do have other features that we can discuss on this show, and you are with us birding for both the thrills in the disappointments. Yeah, I've experienced both measure we can take our listeners back to the time that we are on this bridge. And there was a bicycle breakdown that we remember. And the reason I remember it is a woman who's bicycle broke down. She stopped just as a red start landed on a tree. And that was a gorgeous red stirred it. Sure was. Yup. Yup. And so we watched that for a while and trying to think if we saw any other birds that day. For some reason, I read stare comes to mind. But it was never anything with the red star. Yeah. So, but we're right at the river, and we'll let you know, if we see any more it's really silent here right now, you'd think by the river, there'd be something you would think. So I think there's a vice-like by slick. I think there's a bicyclist up ahead, and we don't want to be in the way. So we're right in the middle of the pack. Yes. I'm gonna hide in the bushes in PPO. Okay. So we'll be back Benach Benach Lassie do. Well, we're back at island lake state recreation area with some crows commenting in the background. And how long were we at the here on riverside? Just now how long did we spend their oh about five minutes, five minutes, and really we didn't see anything right away and our philosophy a birding is if you don't see something right away a move on or be just quit for the day. Quick for the day time for a drink. I think it is. But hey, the sun is peeping out. Just like we were peeping out on the path a few minutes ago. In hopes of seeing more ruby crowned king Louis, we did not. But we got a tip from a runner in. What did he tell us? He told us he saw it albino Turkey Turkey Han. He san. Yeah. And so we're getting low on exit the house. And so I thought I might check that out and see I love a drumstick. Yeah. Yeah..

Photography coroner classic. And of course, the fermentation nook. Well, that's my favorite spot. Yeah. Now, some people say all right. You got a program about birding. So why do you have a feature called the fermentation? That was my thought really? But you know, the reason why it's just part of the fun of this podcast. So let's talk a little bit about that. You know about the fun the podcast on a hot day. Nothing is more refreshing than a gulp of ferment milk. I got a lot of friends who what's the date today? This is April twenty two April two one it is. Oh, that's right. April two what? And you know, Bill that we were here on this exact date for years ago. Are you kidding? No. Nope. Four years ago, we were at island lake state recreation area on April twenty first two thousand seventeen. Well, that's today. I know it's incredible the same date for years ago. So it's April and lots of my friends have just gotten back from spring break in Mongolia. And they're telling me how much they enjoy. The fermented mare's milk. And now here on photography coroner or going to tell you how you can ferment your own milk. We don't have mare's milk like you cannot photography corden. Yes. What blending segments aren't they? Well, we'll get to the to the fermentation nook a little later. I asked some tips on f stops that. I want. The way you're. You keep this podcast going at a good clip. I do I kind of fall behind now would you pronounce the fermented milk beverage Keefer or Kefir, I'd say Kefir, and I think you're in the same corner with Robert bly. Quoting. What? Fear is in my heart and and entered the snow that we're falling on my wife's wrist. There's a field between good and evil between a toe. He and Alaric meet you there. Oh that that is a good one. That is a good one. So you might say, okay. Mr Robert bly, what is key for Kefir? Well, it's a yogurt like drink yogurt like a yogurt like drink that for matted, and you can fermented at home. Now, you might say why do I want Kefir? Well, here's the thing. You might be taking yogurt for the probiotics in it. But yogurt is a lot like island lake stink recreation area, you're only going to get three probiotics. Hey. Okay. Kefir is like muskegon wastewater system. You today is all the regular features on. What were you thinking that people download the show to here? Chaz regular features. And of course, just the birds, ma'am, go head homeboy start out big. You know about the fund the podcast on a hot day. Nothing is more refreshing than gulp of ferment milk. I got a lot of friends who what's the date today? This is April twenty two April two one it is. Oh, that's right, April two, and you know, Bill that we were here on this exact date for years ago. Are you kidding? No. Nope. Four years ago, we were at island lake state recreation area on April twenty first two thousand seventeen. Well, that's today. I know it's incredible same date for years ago. So it's April and lots of my friends have just gotten back from spring break in Mongolia. And they're telling me how much they enjoyed that fermented mare's milk, and now here on photography coroner or going to tell you how you can ferment your own milk. We don't have mare's milk. You cannot photography corner. Yes. Blending segments. Aren't they? Well, we'll get to the picture. To the firm and tation nook a little later, I asked some tips on f stops that I want to share. I mean, you keep this podcast going at a good clip. I do I kind of fall behind now would you pronounce the fermented milk beverage, Keefer or fear? I'd say Kefir, and I think you're in the same corner with Robert bly. Clothing. What? Caffeine here is in my heart. And and anchored the snow that we're falling on my wife's rest. There's a field between good and evil between a toe. He and lark album. Meet you there. Oh that that is a good one. Good one. So you might say, okay. Mr Robert bly, what is key for Kefir? Well, it's a yogurt like drink yogurt like it's a yogurt like drink that fermented and you can fermented at home. Now, you might say why do I want Kefir? Well, here's the thing. You might be taking yogurt for the probiotics in it. But yogurt is a lot like island lake stink recreation area, you're only going to get three probiotics. Hey. Okay. Kefir is like muskegon wastewater system. They both use fermentation it tastes like that. Yes. And also their five hundred twelve thousand three hundred fifty two strains of probiotic in a refreshing glass of Kiefer kafir kafir now. I know you're asking me, Bob Keefer. Well, Donald Sutherland gets together with who he does. Yeah. Produced Keefer with Farley Granger. Finally, Grainger, all you do just to make a short all you do is you get some Keefer, grains. They look like little cauliflowers, but they're creatures they are creatures and they love drink and milk. So you buy some key for grains. I got mine from the Keefer lady, I'm mind looking like cauliflower. No, they love it because it gives them more surface area to drink milk. So you just talk. Oh of key for grains, put them in a glass jar and cover it with milk cups of milk. And that's feeding a little creature that Keefer green creature and by the next morning. You've got yourself. A fermented milk drinks that's loaded with goodness. Just brimming with probiotics sour and fizzy. Who needs bears milk when you can get whole milk Keefer that you have brewed yourself. Oh by God. That sounds really good. Yeah. I bet everyone everyone on everyone's behalf. I want to thank you. Well, I I've had so many photographers Email me and ask for arresting. And that was now what's the purpose of Kefir? What's is supposed to do for you? Well, it just adds six trillion microscopic organisms of back in yeast to your gut, and, you know, a healthy life begins with a healthy gut. Yes. Yeah. Oh, here's a here's a vehicle. Oh, I think we broke some park regulation by speaking about permitted beverages while he was gonna hit us about T-Bone. Yeah. Wow. He's parking right next to us. No, he's not he's across the way. So before we go out and start burning and looking at my battery level indicator we may be in a little trouble. It looks like we only have enough battery power for fifty eight hours. Oh, no. Yeah. And I was going to kind of make this a marathon podcast. Well, a lot of people don't know that we actually do record fifty dollars worth of material to ferment it to the to this final form, we do and five million jokes that you have to digest in each podcast. But you know, we're all joked out. That's the problem. Too many jokes. And we're just choked out I think people realize that. Yeah. Seems getting out of the car back there. I don't like it you see in your mirror. I'm looking I'm trying to be subtle about it. So I'm gonna just before we go out. I'm just going to open the are just the birds ma'am feature by talking about a recent rare bird. I saw and Bill you weren't able to go because you were doing something important. Whoa. Absolutely. But I saw bird called a rough at Mississippi and wastewater. I did it was I think it is scape from Scooby doo. I'm not sure, but pardon but the rough now here's the thing. I don't get. Okay. Maybe I can help you this yoga pants. I think so they may just be running athlete. Yeah. Or just commenting on something. That's hanging from a sign up. Here is hair pants hanging from a sign, and we wondered what they were. So I went to see the rough which is a really rare bird in Michigan. And this is what bothers me the fictionalization of birding. Oh, because I know is full allies. Well, the thing is that I read in. I believe that Peterson field guide that this is a bird from Eurasia. Yup. It's not supposed to be in the United States at all. It's from Eurasia. And I'm thinking you can't pull the wool over my eyes. I read one thousand nine hundred eighty four that's one of those made up countries like Oshii, Anna and Australia. Right. It. Sure is. Yeah. So sure is so I was very insightful of you. Yeah. So it was very beautiful short bird. And I was also mad because when I went to muskegon wastewater I wanted there to be plenty of other burners just two point and show me where the bird was. So I didn't do any work at all. But no, no. No one was there because we're having a windstorm at the time, and I had to find the bird myself. But it was a shore bird. It was in with some pectoral sandpipers. What was it doing there? Well, I don't know I out of the pectoral sandpipers feel about that they're flexing their PECS, but the rough was bigger than the mall, and he was kind of chasing them. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. That's why no one likes the rough. No. Maybe that's why the rough got kicked out of your Eurasia. I think I know exactly where the Eurasia is by a long ways away. Yeah. I mean, it's like the north and South American land mass that really narrows it down. I saw two can't whereas the two can from north and South America that. Yeah. Well, Bill this is going to be hard. I had let me think about that for a minute. This is going to be hard to believe. But you know, how sometimes we talk and talk and talk and we've only field seven minutes. Yeah. We've hardly done anything except photography coroner. And it's fourteen minutes have passed. Are you kidding? No. And you didn't get to talk about Bill has a new feature called radios too. Big to fit in your pocket. Yes. I'm thinking about this for a long time to me a long time to sell Bob on the idea. But I think it's a good idea. All right. So after would do some live birding here, if you wanna you ready to brave the temperatures again, why found my hat. Okay. All right. So we're gonna try we're burning just for you, folks. We don't want a bird. We don't wanna be here. We hate it. Right. Absolutely lows. What are we doing here? Yeah. We'd rather be extinct. Absolutely. Just for you. We're going to go birding right now. So we'll be back. A hope you better. Enjoy it. Yeah. Geez. We have the most ungrateful listeners any podcast on the planet. Never hear with that in a positive way..
