A Timeline of Recent Events in US-Iran Relations
"Off. We are going to go over a little. Bit of a timeline found him put put together. That kinda goes over. Recent events obviously our history with Iran goes back tens of not a hundred years But I just kind of want to go over the recent the The relevant history in current events and it starts July fourteenth of two thousand fifteen on the US and Iran and some a few other nations announced the nuclear deal and Iran the US and four other UN permanent members announced that they have reached a comprehensive deal regarding Iran's nuclear their program. Iran agreed to limit its uranium enrichment which obviously is making nuclear weapons and allow international inspectors into the country in exchange change for a lifting of trade sanctions primarily concerning oil then July sixteenth of two thousand sixteen now so year pretty much the year after this has happened the US and Europe lifted the sanctions on Iran asked promise in the nuclear deal and the very next day. The Obama Administration issued a new sanctions against eleven people and companies with leak to Iran's ballistic missile program. Now twenty seventeen trump extend sanctions waiver So what pretty much happened is the trump administration renewed sanctions waivers. That were in part because of the AH Iran nuclear deal and then may eighth of two thousand eighteen so another year head the US R- withdrawals from the from the Iran. Nuclear deal on this this kind of big news back in two thousand eighteen if you guys remember that or not but president trump announced that the US will withdraw from the Iranian nuclear agreement and implements a maximum pressure sure campaign in an attempt to force Iran to negotiate a new deal. So you heard this in trump's campaign as well as two thousand eighteen was going on trump was really unhappy. Happy With the deal that Obama had made with Iran whether or not that was a political move because Obama had made the plan and he just wasn't a fan of that and wanted Anatole renegotiate it As he does. Or if it was a serious problem with the deal that he was unhappy with either way In response wants Iran says it will exceed the caps for uranium-enriching as outlined by the Iran. Nuclear deal international nuclear watchdogs later confirmed that Iran Iran had exceeded its limits That were set out in the twenty fifteen deal so now April eighth of Twenty nineteen so this is a a month and a year after the. US had originally withdraw from the Iran. Nuclear deal in Iran had exceeded its limits trump trump designates the Iran Islamic Revolutionary Guard corpse as a foreign terrorist organization is the first time the US has declared part of another national government as a terrorist organization. So kind of big news. These are not small claims that were being made by the trump administration. And during this time time from May to October of two thousand nineteen so not not may when the US withdrawal from The Iran nuclear deal but from May to October of of twenty nine thousand nine the US Iran tensions had ramped up a ton because of and this is another kind of current event. That was going on back then. The oil tanker explosions now. Now there was officially. No I guess conclusive evidence that directly pointed to Iran or like the Iranian government having exploded. Order these oil tankers but a series of attacks on these oil tankers near the Straits of who who mas which is in the Oman or the Gulf of Oman? I believe Tensions between the US just skyrocketed the US blamed Iran for the tax on the oil tankers are sailing under Saudi Arabian Japanese US and British flags in response. US attempts to seize an Iranian Oil Tanker K now November twenty nineteen Iranian Iranian riots over economic concerns. Start to begin and over the course of the next four days Iran's riots in the streets in opposition to the increase in oil prices mainly they do to sanctions that were being put on and all this drama that was occurring international estimates. That more than three hundred people were killed in the government. Crackdown on this demonstration. The trump trump administration in response sharply criticized the Iranian government for how it handled these protests killed three hundred of its people while okay now were in December thirty first so and other month forward From the riots and twenty nineteen and this is probably something you may be able to remember now if you're listening to this when it came amount of course the MILTA- members attacked US embassy embassies in Baghdad. So the Iraqi demonstrators as well so Iraq Iran Iran different different countries Iraqi demonstrators and Iran backed milita members break into the US embassy in Baghdad and set. Fire To the embassy in this was in response to the American airstrikes that killed members of Iran. Back Milita The previous weekend so now going forward. Here's here's our big news. This is where all the world war three means. came from this is where all the main drama in recent events have came from the. US killed General Solo Mommy Sulejmani Yeah so the. US killed Iran's top general title as well as Iraqi military leaders boo muddied in a drone strike in Baghdad. So Iraq Iraq really Kinda and I got the worst of this because Baghdad is in Iraq not Iran and they got bombed or not bomb but launched missile twice once by Iran trying in to attack the US and then by the US trying to attack Iran. Obviously only one of those were successful. The one that killed the Iranian general but then now skipping Ford I five days or in January eighth now so this is what I just kind of mentioned Iran launch missiles onto basis and Iraq where soldiers are stationed in relationship with the killing of their general. No casualties were reported the same morning. A Ukrainian airliner crashed crashed. Quotation marks around crashed after taking off from Iran the US officials say that Iran shot down with two Russian surface to air missiles. There is some video footers. I believe that was put out by BBC of a plane that was flying. And you see this huge explosion in the air and later you hear her a a giant explosion through the sound And that is claimed to be the Ukrainian airliner that was supposedly shot down Now Day later. US retaliates was sanctioned. So this is the first kind of official sanctions that came in after the. US had left the nuclear ordeal all the way back in two thousand eighteen so January ninth trump announces. His administration will impose new sanctions on Iran in response to the missile strike. The next day Secretary Secretary of state. Mike pompeo Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin outlined the details of the sanctions which target the construction manufacturing actioning mining textile industries and of course oil industries these sanctions also name eight Iranian officials within these sanctions. Two days after this January the eleventh Iran finally admitted that the Ukrainian airliner was shot down and quotation marks the end by mistake and the admission sparked protests in in Tehran and elsewhere against Iranian leaders. So a little more context. I want to add to this. Timeline is first of all the funeral that happened. For General Sulejmani Sulejmani reporter said that it encompassed almost are actually not almost more than a million people attended of this man's funeral and in case you guys were curious or didn't really get it in the mainstream media. I think it was Kinda not reported on as much as more just like. Oh we killed Tim. This happened not necessarily. We should be happy for it but he was a bad guy so in January second the Pentagon announced that the strike was to deter future Iranian attack plans trump also announced that he was an imminent threat and was caught planning attacks against the United States. Why these reports a came out so much later. I don't know because if you go back all the way to twenty seventeen trump had stated in a national secretary or not the National National Security Conference that he believed that Sulejmani was a threat. So why this didn't really come out in the mainstream media. I don't know I want inform you guys in case if you were curious

Who was Qassem Soleimani, Iran's IRGC's Quds Force leader?
"Out there but the very biggest thing that happened on the day this is a huge case some solo Mani one of Iran's most really revered military generals is dead so mommy was trying to develop plans to attack American troops and diplomats because we've seen what's happened in Baghdad read sixteen thousand people that embassy in the attack on the embassy has led to now what the Pentagon has said is the air strike that killed this major running in military official this is big I mean who is stolen money it's funny as soon as his name came out I knew immediately because we've had people on talking about Iran including our old pal the former congressman from Ohio Bob Ney who spent time in Iran and he absolutely was one of those infamous military operators in the quicksand of the Middle East and he was the leader of the Islamic revolutionary guard corps is you know this is a guy who was definitely the general he was moving the pieces on the board in the pieces that he was he was moving was to get the US so his story ended Friday when a U. S. airstrike near the Baghdad airport killed him and a number of Iraqi military leaders soul Amani his career kicked in after Ron's nineteen seventy nine revolution and really kind of helped shape if you will the Islamic Republic that was in the the following on the heels of the the revolution so this was this is a bad guy I mean this was a guy who had serious diplomatic cloud I guess is the way to put it and he he wanted they thought top political office but he didn't end up doing that instead I mean he was the guy that was part of the the member the war with Iraq from nineteen eighty to eighty eight and all the economic power and of course that they had that was bloody it was brutal and he really helped that really helped to shape his career since our money was someone to be feared and he had the strength power and was somebody that people followed and the fact that a recent Pentagon estimates said that forces led by him or connected to him killed at least six hundred and eight US troops in Iraq between two thousand and three and two thousand and eleven so this is a good thing because when the president president trump pull the US out of the nuclear deal between Iran and other world powers they found themselves in this position of all this tension with us with the U. S. so Iraq's shi'ite militias were really harassing US troops they were firing rockets at bases that were used by Americans there was the attack in late December that killed the US contractor and then the air strikes against bases along the border of US airstrikes against the bases along the border with Syria used by Hezbollah that killed twenty five militia members an intervention a bunch more one is a fifty to seventy whatever was doesn't matter and then on new year's eve the Shiite militias and their supporters storming our embassy our U. S. embassy compound in Baghdad locally and and shockingly actually from everything that I saw nobody was killed in the chaos but the president warned that a Ron absolutely for this responsibility for the act and said there gonna be held responsible for that air strike on Friday morning killed not only sell Amani but Abu Mahdi al ma handed as he was in a rocky militia commander who equally was an imposing figure but the soul Mani is irreplaceable for this the Ronnie and Reggie I think it was incredibly shocking the news of his death to them and what kind of an effect it will have on their end the demise of such a revered figure on that area will be something to pay attention now there will be pressure to retaliate and what is that going to look like I mean pressure to retaliate on the U. S. I have to say Bravo because this was a huge move it was incredible news it was a smart thing to happen to take sole Amani out because of the fact that he was Iran's most powerful military leader and we've been in this sticky wicket since really twenty fifteen and then of course all of the economic pressure we're putting on Iran with sanctions except for a this is a matter how you feel about this president this is a win I mean this is a win there's no no doubt about that when I saw the images of what was happening in the embassy at the Baghdad abit embassy and realizing what was going on there this is it absolutely a very very big bold and necessary
Tensions rising in the Middle East after embassy attack
"US airstrike word from the Pentagon president trump border the strike on the airport in Baghdad that killed added Veron's lead could force and deputy commander of the Iran backed militias known as the popular mobilization forces correspondent Ryan Braun reports before the strike the US has been moving significant new military forces into the region earlier today secretary defense mark as for kind of laid out on some of the rationale behind this strike without talking about the strike itself he said he blamed Iran and the Islamic revolutionary guard corps for these attacks on US military facilities for the demonstrations at the embassy and he said that the US would not wait that they would take preemptive action if they detected a threat seeing the game had changed citing a revolutionary guard statement to Ronnie and state television said Qasim Sobhani was martyred in an attack by U. Higher Gasoline Prices In Iran Fuel Demonstrations
"Now the news coming from Iran is sketchy because the government has shut down the Internet. But we do know that. Last week the government hiked gas prices prices by fifty percent protests broke out and turned violent over the weekend. Several people are reported to have been killed. The country's supreme leader has condemned this unrest arrest which has reportedly spread to about one hundred cities in a tweet. US Secretary of State. Mike Pompeo expressed solidarity with the people of Iran. And here's what. US Ambassador into the United Arab Emirates. John Recall to sit on Sunday. We're not advocating regime change. We're going to let the people decide for themselves. Their future but their future or is to be part of the world community impure international correspondent. Peter Kenyon has been following these developments from Istanbul. Good Morning Peter I David. We're talking about one hundred cities. Reportedly I mean how intense are these protests. Well the intensity depends on where you are today. The government's saying calm is restored whether that lasts remains to be scene U. N. officials are calling on Tehran to stop using live fire against demonstrators. They're shocked at the loss of life. These protests started pretty ready peacefully after Friday prayers last week but there was violence then over the weekend. Gas Stations were a popular target to underline the anger at this hike in the fuel prices and and by the way that also includes this new rationing system. Which means if you're a driver and you go over the ration limit which is about fifteen gallons a month then? The price goes up three hundred percent by western standards. We should note even these higher prices are not that high but in the context of the Iranian economy. It's going to cause pain especially for lower income level folks What is the government doing? I mean I mentioned. They've shut down. The Internet is are there signs. They're going to do more more to crack down on this. Well crackdown is the right word. That police and security forces were sent out on the streets there have been clashes with demonstrators. And there's there's a warning that it could get much worse runs. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that any further writing would be dealt with decisively on Sunday Iran on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei came out and he said yes. I support the fuel price increase. He also called the protesters thugs which was seen by some as is an authorization for a crackdown and it may have put a bit of a chill on the numbers of people turning out after that His endorsement may also be imparted. What spurred the UN and others to call offer calm and an end to the use of lethal force? Peter if there is economic pain and and it's new or growing in some way is is it tied at at all to these economic sanctions put on Iran by the United States. Some are onions. Thanks so the Foreign Minister Mohammad. Javad Zarif is blaming the US He was responding to a comment by Secretary of state. Mike Pompeo who tweeted that the US was with the people of Iran as we said any American regime that imposes coercive economic sanctions actions bars. Delivery of food and drugs to the elderly. Medical patients can never claimed supporting the Iranian nation. And so it's Yes the US sanctions are definitely being blamed named. How hard is life there in general economically? It's not good The unemployment is up. The Iranian oil is down. People savings are being eaten up. A frequent target rid of anger is Europe who had pledged to keep the twenty-fifth nuclear deal going and keep trade going but so far they've had very limited success in doing that.

U.S. lays blame squarely on Iran for oil tanker attacks
"Martin. The US says, Iran is responsible for an attack on to commercial oil tankers in the Middle East here. Secretary of state state. Mike Pompeo speaking yesterday this assessment is based on intelligence. The weapons used the level of expertise needed to execute the operation recent similar rating attacks on shipping and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication US central command released video last night that they say shows Iranian Revolutionary Guard patrol boat removing an unexploded limpet mine from one of the two tankers. They say the Iranians were trying to remove evidence. Let's bring in Admiral William j fell, and now he is a former commander of US Centcom in which he oversaw all US military operations in the Middle East, Admiral, thank you so much for being with us. My pleasure. Good morning, Rachel. Do you believe this video provides absolute evidence that Iran was behind these attacks? It's very convincing to me as secretary Pumpido said, there's a quite a bit of circumstantial evidence, but this video pretty much nails it. How do we know this is in an Islamic revolutionary guard patrol boat? I believe. There's little doubt. That's, that's what it is the US vessel in vicinity. One of our stories saw numerous IRA juicy votes around each of the tankers that was attacked. I think the only question of seeing some speculation that this may be some kind of an independent action. I doubt that sincerely ethic. This was something that was premeditated. And it's a an escalatory step in a in a road too much aware, but certainly not hit at anywhere in the right direction. I mean we've seen this happen before, now four tankers were attacked last month in the same place in the Gulf of Oman, which is just off the coast of, of Iran and the US also blamed those attacks on the Iranian regime. Why is this happening? I believe it's probably Iran, trying to trying to strike back there in a lot of pressure right now. The sanctions that the US is imposed the longstanding robbery, and it's been fought actively with proxies, in Yemen, that involves both Iran and Saudi Arabia. So when this first incident occurred over in jar last month, very interesting. The use of these women minds as they're called that are attached to the whole ship. That's not something that's going to be an everyday item for. Some kind of a startup organizations to somebody that actually is fairly sophisticated. They know what they're doing. And then this event yesterday. Significant esscalation and an arise and sophistication these ships were both underway. I would expect I haven't seen definitively, but expect it came from different ports, and, and they were hit pretty much at the same time. And it appears obviously with this one case, it was a mind there's a report from one of the ships that they're actually some kind of projectiles fired at them, whether these are small missiles, or or guns to be determined, but that oughta be we'll figure this out when they get a look at the ships and see what the damages and see what the wholesale like this is, you know, why are they doing this probably to try to do something to push back in, in the best case one would hope that maybe this will spur some kind of negotiation sometimes discussion. But then rate the immediate effect is probably going to be as we saw yesterday, jumping oil prices and probably insurance rates and anxiety levels because of the volume of petroleum products. That come out of the Gulf, right? Third of the world's supply. So I want to ask you about the public messaging around this, the standoff Iran denies all of it. Iran's u n mission released a statement saying, and I'm quoting here at the US and its regional allies must stop warmongering statement, also calls, the US accusations part of quote, another Arana phobic campaign. Do you think secretary Pompeii peyot by going out holding a press conference publicly accusing Iran, is that the right? Is that the right response? Or should this be happening in more back ten away? It's been so blatantly obvious both on the actions that were that were perpetrated. And the fact that the, the evidence is, is pretty overwhelming that I don't think there's much to be gained in this case by just trying to keep it under the table. And the other reality today is there's so much near instantaneous coverage by the media. In this case, you had video I think it is very interesting, though, that both incidents the one last month, and then this one, one of the very first pieces of information that came out video came from sources so you another question let me have this happen. So I think that directly into question, I don't think there's much to be gained by keeping this quiet. But maybe this'll spur some, some serious discussion I do and ask you. Lastly in just a couple of seconds. The UN secretary general said he's concerned, over a military escalation now. The EU is urging maximum restraint international allies. Clearly, feel this could be a tipping point. Do you know I'm not I don't think it's a tipping point. But it's a it's dangerous because when you start using things that explode and and blow up there's always the danger of miscalculation, some kind of steak and and again when things start flying through the air, it's not good. So this is this is not a good trend and need be very, very careful and take some serious action to try to reverse Admiral William Fallon. Former head of you Centcom. Thank you for

Donald Trump, Iran And Tehran discussed on Dr. Drew
"Yeah. We're talking about Iran. Are we going to go to war in Iran? It sounds really really if look I'm gonna get your phone calls in just a minute. I just want to mention a couple of things. So Donald Trump takes office. He pulls us out of the joint comprehensive plan of action. This this was the nuclear deal that the Iran nuclear deal and part of that was because he really wanted to have these sanctions just this ongoing economic embargo that he could impose on Tehran to bring it to it's knees because they figured the Trump administration figured that would force some sort of fundamental change in the Iranian regime or maybe even regime change itself. And then recently, they double down they call this maximum pressure. They recently announced that they will no longer grant sanction waivers to any country importing, rainy and oil that essentially clamps a an oil embargo on. Dan. This week the White House tightened that squeeze they imposed additional sanctions on Iranian steel, aluminum and copper Tehran. Then responded by announcing this week that it would no longer fully comply with limits on uranium production imposed in the P O A that Iranian nuclear deal. Even though the United States pulled out of it. The Iranians were still adhering to the deal because there were other countries who are still participants in it. But this week Tehran announced that they're not no longer going to comply with limits on uranium production. And it was because of these additional sanctions this additional economic pressure. That's been put on them by the United States of America. And in April, the Trump administration as I said before designated the Islamic revolutionary guard as foreign terrorist as a foreign terrorist organization, then Tehran countered and labeled US military forces as part of a terrorist organization and all of this has. Simply been escalating escalating escalating, the Iranian economy right now has gone into a deep recession. According to the IMF, the International Monetary Fund rans gross domestic product has fallen by six percent over the past year. The inflation rate is nearly forty percent and the Iranian currency has lost nearly two thirds of its value. So, you know, this I guess maybe Trump thinks are Bolton thanks that. They're weakened now. Maybe it's the time to strike. I don't know Wendy sherman's, the director of the center for public leadership at Harvard. Kennedy School and the former lead negotiator of the JCP away for the Obama administration. And she points out that the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign has not succeeded to date. She says although Iran has continued to comply with the terms of the nuclear agreement that is until this week. It has actually stepped up its maligned behavior in the region Americans remain in. In prison and the Iranian people have no more freedoms. So Trump's campaign so far has greatly increased the possibility that Iran shifts gears and moves once again to try to acquire nuclear weapons bringing us right back to the crisis that the JCP away was designed to avoid only a much worse crisis. This time around we're in an escalation cycle that is incredibly dangerous. I echo those thoughts and ask you is war. What's coming? And would you support it? I mean, would you put on the uniform to go fight in Iran? Do you think we're fighting for America's interests? Would you want your sons or daughters to go to war

"And police tell him John McCullough sent you. Welcome back to the town. I'll review with Hugh Hewitt on hughhewitt ambassador. John Bolton is the director of the national security agency serving President Trump as the advisor not the decider is he likes to say on national security. He's experiencing well respected talent on foreign policy. We are fortunate to have met this post working with the resolve alongside secretary of state, Mike Pompeo to sir. President Trump embassador bulletin. I continued our discussion moving our focus onto to very hot issue. Iran's Islamic revolutionary guard and the future Venezuela. Do you expect that this group, which is so powerful? And so dangerous is going to control the succession to Iran's aging supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Well, they're undoubtedly a major factor in it and their title Islam revolution. Islamic Revolutionary Guards. They are the guardians of the nineteen seventy nine revolution. Everybody in Iran knows the succession process is underway. The has got to be a central player. Let's turn to Venezuela. Because. It's connected to run this week. Newsweek's Tom com Connor reported yesterday. In fact, Iran is followed Russia's lead in shoring up ties with Venezuela at a time when the United States sought to oust the embattled Latin America, countries socialist government, but China's presence there may be the Pentagon's gravest concern that follows a foreign affairs interview by Admiral Craig follower, very blunt and very welcome. In my opinion, about quote, I think the biggest threat to democracy in the way of life around the world is the trend. We see in China, and he was blasting China for putting out propaganda about the blackouts in Venezuela. What is the situation, Mr. ambassador? Well, this is a very very important struggle. It's underway now for the people of Venezuela to overturn the Chavis Madero dictatorship. It's also a strategic contest for the United States against Cuba, which has by many estimates over twenty thousand security forces really running the government in Venezuela. Some people call the country Cuba's Walea, I don't really think. The d'oro is giving orders. I think he's taking orders from Havana. And what we're trying to do is is get key leaders in the military to do what ninety percent of the population. Venezuela already wants and help get this regime overthrown and the stakes couldn't be higher. People should understand. Venezuela has the largest proven reserves of petroleum into world bigger than Saudi Arabia. They have one of the largest reserves of uranium in the ground of any country in the world perhaps second only to Canada. So if the Monroe doctrine sales if China and Russia established along with Cuba, stab domination over Venezuela and make American strategic interests will be harmed. And as I've said at the beginning, the people event as well, it will be trapped in this dictatorship. We are seeing here the palpable proof of eight years of Obama administration policy mistakes, they let d'oro entrench themselves. They've let the Ortega's the Sandinistas come back in Nicaragua. They. Reversed decades of policy on communist Cuba to our detriment. The problems we face in the western hemisphere today directly relate to ideological policies pursued by the Obama administration. So all these bills are coming due. Tell you President Trump is determined not to see Venezuela fall under the sway of foreign powers. I've watched President Trump secretary palm Palin, you wage an unprecedented strategic campaign on Twitter. It's never been done before. Do you think it's affected? Well, it's it certainly gets attention as as we both were much younger staffers in the Reagan administration back in the early eighties. When he really launched the whole concept of public diplomacy for America, something that was utterly foreign to the State Department where they did everything and dark Carter's and ministries of foreign affairs. Reagan understood as only the great communicator could that you've also got an obligation to persuade pop. Relations around the world about why American foreign policy is in their interest. And as our millennial generation friends will tell us Twitter's one of the most powerful social media. It's amazing. How many people there are out there who read Twitter feed? It's one part only of what we're up to in terms of communication. I will just say I think we've got a long way to go in the federal government to have a better American communication mechanism worldwide. We're working on that at the NFC because we think it's so important President Trump degrees. But look if if Twitter can help us free the people Venezuela. You bet will use it Washington Examiner. Joel Gerke last question about Venezuela. A military intervention house Venezuelan strongman nNcholas Maduro remains quote, a very serious option for the United States. According to President Trump's national security team, quote, obviously, that's a result that no one would like to see but clearly one that has seriously considered the event unfolds. A senior administration officials speaking on the condition of anonymity told reporters how closer. Are we to seeing Colombia and Brazil go in with American help? Our objective is a peaceful transition of power. The opposition to let's not forget, we've got twain forty to fifty thousand American citizens in Venezuela. It's our obligation to protect them. We've got countries as you mentioned Columbian Brazil and the border with new Venezuelan refugees who've come across we've got terrorist organizations like the ESPN and far could threaten Columbia. We're gonna protect American national interest and the d'oro and his cronies ought to know that President Trump is very serious when he says all.

"But the worst outcome is that I think it undermines the security of the United States of America. The Islamic revolutionary guard corps which never wanted the JCP away has increased its activity in the Middle East, not decreased it in the face of the president's actions and the reimposition of sanctions. The president would argue that's because we gave on all of this cash. They actually didn't get so much cash. The I r doesn't need very much money to do what it does in the Middle East. And I think we lost an opportunity to have a channel of dialogue to. We tackle these other issues and that is now all gone. And then finally and humanly important. There are Americans sitting in Evin prison today and no answer to Robert Levinson's whereabouts the American who has been missing for so long. And we no longer have a channel to discuss how to resolve those cases, get the Americans home, bring Robert Levenson home. So are there Novak channels you're not channeling with? Iranians? I'm not channeling with the Iranians. I do see the Iranians when they come to the United States. I wasn't a small group meeting with president Ronnie last week at the UN general assembly. I will see ministers wreath for a meeting. But in those meetings, I represent my country a patriot for my country. I want Iran to continue to comply with the deal. I want Iran to find a way to bring the Americans home. I want them to stop the line behavior. In the Middle East. So any objectives that I discuss with Iranians are the objectives of preserving the security of the United States of America. It's been my habit to call my administration counterpart before and after these meetings, and I will continue to do that. There was a lot of talk around how humiliation would keep the Iranians from the table. Get a lot of had been around saving faith. Have we lost that's base. I think we've lost that space right now. You know, I would hope even though I don't think the president make the right decision at all, and I think he continues to make decisions that make this harder. I do hope for the safety and security of our country that the United States in Iran find a way to talk with each other. Again, whether that's quietly in secret or whether that is in a public negotiation, whatever works because I think not to do so will only increase the risk to our security. MS Sherman. Thank you so much for joining us today new. You're very, very busy. Well, I think you're very, very busy too. "Lebanon is president michel aoun it's another nasreeullah operative that is the head of hezbollah yet president trump embraced lebanon's prime minister sayed hariri in a recent visit to the white house and praised him as a partner in the war against terrorists it's yet another example where the nuances of alliances and policy are lost in the president which prompts him to support action that repeal h his campaign promises and stated objectives on iran we were told by apologists of the saudi arms deal that a complete embrace of saudi arabia was needed to combat iran it here we are helping their strongest proxy that is directly controlled by the islamic revolutionary guard the i r g and they're figures on the ground this is a symptom of a broader disease inherent in our mentally strategy over the past decade whereby we are multiple sides of islamic civil wars and often find ourselves on our own weapons by proxy aside from the immorality of ensuing that arms fall into the hands of hezbollah such a move has two distinct policy outcomes it further models our involvement in syria and strengthens hezbollah's desire to open a second front against israel on its eastern border and this is a big deal according to the state department there are approximately seven thousand hezbollah fighters in syria they are fighting alongside the iranian republican guard and the assad regime against the islamic insurgents including isis the irony is that our own military is fighting isis as well yet at the same time hi we're launching airstrikes against shiite militias allied with hezbollah but now were almost directly arming hezbollah oh we happened to be assisting some of the very same shiite militias in iraq that hezbollah brigades along with fellow shiite militias such as the site aid hour shuhada bridge gates and the imam ali brigades are benefiting from our support in iraq even though they are controlled by the iranian qods forces is your head spinning it rather than enable our enemies to fight with each other the benefit of our security interests we have them play ourselves against our own interests by supporting the worst elements of all sides by placing our weapons in special forces in the hands of our enemies tumour soldiers died earlier this week in iraq very likely engaged.
