How do you encourage like a ten year old boy? Who's doing like Liza Elisa? It's hard enough to do it now or something I think for parents yes in those days. It wasn't that easy and so I think what they do is they like look away way a lot and in that way I think it was support. And you know what he taught me how to sew and he and he would bring these like sort of attachments attachments for the sewing machine and I thought that was like a gesture of love you know it was a kind of like from his spirit for it like that was the way he could react to the whole thing you know. What the Amazon HQ2 Cities Could Learn from Seattle

"Amazon dot com, which has long been based in Seattle will split its second headquarters between Long Island City, New York and crystal city in northern Virginia, Amazon's invasion will likely transform the neighborhoods for the better in quite a few ways. But will also bring new headaches the to new locations could probably take a lesson in this regard from Seattle. That's where we find the Wall Street Journal's Jay green who joins us via Skype j you refer to the Amazon, invasion Beit and Seattle or the two new sites as a prosperity bomb. This has been used to describe what happened to Seattle's downtown. Isn't that? Right. Yeah. In really the whole city. I mean, you know, I I've lived here for twenty years, and you know, it's estan Ishida. See what's happened to housing prices. People of certainly gotten rich selling their homes here after Emma's come in. And, you know, been plenty of new businesses that have opened up to support Amazon and the forty five thousand people in employs in the city. What was the biggest chain? Change that Amazon affected and Seattle was at the skyline or was it something else? Yeah. When there's a bunch boy. But the skyline is is the most noticeable certainly there's a neighborhood they first moved into downtown called south lake union that was cut hardscrabble ramshackle. There wasn't a whole lot there and flash forward ten years, and it's bunch of grieving buildings in nice restaurants young folks walking around, but in another wants to write it. It's an mistake. Well to see how much traffic has gotten congested really because of that influx of people downtown. And that's really a lot of that has to do with Amazon, right? Amazon's presence in Seattle's downtown created a series of headaches traffic jams transit nightmares. And I guess as you said, you know, these rising home prices have put homes or home buying out of the reach for many. Yeah. I mean, listen. Goes both ways. Right when I bought my house here twenty years ago, and I'm doing okay. But you know, I think about my kids is they're moving into adulthood can be really hard for them to buy a home in Seattle at this point unless they land some great job hasn't the downtown really been transformed by I mean, just Amazon workers it's sprung up basically, a whole bunch of new businesses to cater to them restaurants, the obvious one because it's something that nine Zony wind up going into and there'd been a bunch of great restaurants that have shown up downtown a lot of quality kinda lunch spots. But also really nice dinner spots to there's all kinds of service businesses that have emerged new banks downtown, and that sort of thing it's really a whole economy that has catered to this influx of people J with Seattle Amazon really wrote the book on how a company headquartered in the city's downtown lot of corporate headquarters have been located suburbs. Look at Seattle that's often the. As well. You know, when Microsoft moved here forty years ago little bit less than forty years ago, they decided to move to Redmond which is a suburb of Seattle, and they have a big campus there and they've expanded. Actually, they even have some operations in downtown Seattle in the neighboring city Bellevue Boeing when it emerged here. Many decades ago it really build plants in Everett, which is north of the city in Renton, which is south of the city. And so it is it doesn't really have a presence downtown. And that's really been the difference with Amazon, and it was very purposeful. Jeff basis talked about how they wanted the company to be downtown because the executives there thought it would be a lure to talent. And I think that's also one of the reasons why they've chosen the new locations urban places in young people tend to like in places Amazon's pick of Long Island city's generated a lot of controversy in the New York area. One criticism has been that the tax breaks dangled in front of Amazon were way, too generous, and that the money could otherwise have been used. Upgrade the city's infrastructure, especially here the subways was there any comparable sort of controversy in Seattle. Amazon is a big employer, and it sort of been part of the discussion in terms of building infrastructure. I think people have been frustrated over the years with the contributions Amazon has has made or not made Amazon has responded in some regards. There's a streetcar in downtown Seattle and Amazon purchased an extra streetcar to ease.

"And you're going to the comparison will make sense until explain it mitsuhiro ishida was predominantly a wrestler but what i mean is song dong just has this absurd physical intensity i mean he physically put it on on a ranch he could do nothing to it was just a pressure and like the the power striking and then the control even when around chest dan was trying to turtle he had to turtle slowly because everything was being held it was i was so impressed by that guy he's what twenty years old what is that kids ceiling yeah absolutely terrified again another special athlete i don't think we've got a good look at him in his u s debut because enforcement i didn't feel like he was is opponent was really whether at bathe in that way they just kinda couldn't keep with it was nice to see him against the one that's a lot of you have seat fights under his belt like ranches but again philip just couldn't get into the fight every range sung done had it covered is beautiful box in very classically trained box nice tight combinations no wasted movement in anything he does constant pressure very good range management as well if you watch flights images that space between him and his opponent so well as soon as someone as bruce lee said when my opponent expands lie contracts when i when they try expand he does that almost second nature so so he's able to think about his attack instead of his foot work as beautiful to watch him really isn't i mean we're just scratching the surface we've not even seen what kids capable of ya any other high performer you'd like to acknowledge here from that you have see singapore card to be honest i think the leech looks amazing leading a took on dodgy ave will kind of felt like that was going to be a stunt in the center of the altar going to trade punches until some fellow and the leeches of very aggressive fights one thing he said melia in the week is that he would like to it would like to be less aggressive more measured at he would like to find a flow state bit maury would like to be a bit more reactive to his opponent it was clear had a game plan to be to the lead leg of vay on it was clear that obey came in there with coaching from duane ludwig planning on switching stunts is quite regularly which unfortunately painful because my mom awa leg was forward it was getting hammered by leading that and i mean he's confidences in all time high and that was the most measured performance we've seen of yet arisen chinese ma flights is around the reisen as he kept yelling into the microphone after china power now this is definitely something special guide on that region with stein to sit now certainly are what are you most sighted about for july six seven so that would be the ultimate fighter finale and that of course you have see to twentysix pick your fight that you've really got dry on well i'm i'm linden ready to record inside the game for the main event so might tie focus is on that of the mom and i've been watching all the train influence you d say you know get into his training camp and seeing how he's moving he's out into his game he has my respect the stepping up to heavyweight and taking on it but i really feel not she's a the most dangerous flights the dc could fi the moment especially with john jones van out because every dc does well steve pace to counter to it on the things that dc does to light heavyweights is steep as doing two heavyweights i mean you want him against the against gone eight he defeated he embraced the grind the beat him he dragged him to the floor stayed in his face the difference with the two obviously is probably about well i would say the difference public bit last now 'cause dc's gonna gained a bit of white but he's not sure range power i mean moving full with only backwards any needs very little space to london even ground impounded he watches knockout against the against rate i mean he's literally moving so twelve inches with unlimited knockout pilots people so it makes it very difficult for dc moving fullwood covering distance quickly against the galop male chips who obviously you've gotta move past that boxing rain which we know he.

"Alexander alter joins us now with an update for the literary world highly santer hide him ah what's new so short stories are very hot that know if you've heard their old ones short stories is certainly very hot yes so there is a really exciting publishing deal this week that everyone was waiting for i'm sure you're a member of a few weeks ago a short story went viral and the new yorker it attracted i think something like two million page views and it's it was called cat person by christon repent in this is a out of the blue greater that no one had ever heard of before she it's just finished her mfa and i think the story because it deals with sort of awkward semi consensual sex and online dating and texting and this sort of fuzzy hazy new world there were en will you read the story what did you what did you think of it you know what struck me most is first of all there was a lot of humor in at that i appreciated but i do think that it got at that awkward way in which people get to know each other in a you know in a sort of virtual end a real world kind of hybrid yet way thought of that you know the these two people who meet when she is working in a movie theater and he's a customer who asks for in know red vine suciu remarks on and they start at this kind of flirtation that quickly exits the real world and goes onto their cell phones and their texting so there's this intimacy in that your your sort of in the person's face at any time and yet they don't really know each other at all and it isn't until quite late in the story i mean i think perhaps after they've slept together possibly the chief advisor how old he is ishida that are really older than her so i just think that it captured this really odd moment that were in in terms of how people commune.
