The Real Reason Your Kids Are Being Forced to Wear Masks
"Good morning charlie. My kids attend school in san antonio in northside. Isd and they are deliberately disobeying. The supreme court ruling of abiding by governor abbots executive order banning mask mandates. My highschool daughter stood her ground and refuse to wear a mask. Today she has had eight asthma attacks this week. The principal told her that. I will need her to wear her mask or leave campus. I asked how nasd things. They have the legal authority to enforce masks and he said he didn't have an answer for that. Of course not. He repeated himself about masking or leaving campus and not being able to attend classes so evil. My daughter choose chose to stand her ground. We left my question is what can we do here. In texas of reached out to the governor's office the attorney general the superintendent. And nothing's happening. This has to end. Thank you. I love your show amber. Thank you the reason why your daughter is being forced to wear masks regardless of what the texas legislature has passed and governor grab greg. Abbott has signed into law is because leftists democrats and liberals that run these schools. They are not afraid of the consequence. They're not afraid of the potential penalty. That will come down if they violate the law. That republicans pass we're experiencing this right now. In scottsdale i gave my speech at the scottsdale unified school district. A couple of days ago. Where i told the scottsdale unified school district. They are breaking arizona. Law by mandating masks on children. Despite governor doug ducey is signed into law and they basically shrug it off and i say delta variant we can do whatever we want so amber. Let me connect to things for you. The reason why the head of the san antonio school district thinks can they can do whatever they want is because when they see democrats flee the state of texas to try to block quorum and no one gets arrested. It plays into the narrative that the regime of the media will protect you if you rebel against republicans but if republicans rebel against democrats they will crush

"A dangerous tone for example last week a school board meeting in tennessee protesters threatened doctors and nurses were testify. Making the case for masking children in schools intimidation and the threats were seeing across. The country are wrong unacceptable. The governor is not backing down. Jeremy in this fight that we have been covering here for the last few weeks with the school district in particular. And it's not unusual at this point in the pandemic for us to hear about arguments between the governor cities and counties. They've been at that for a while right talking about mask. Mandates certain capacity limits for businesses. And things like that. This is different fight in a lot of ways. Let me give a good example of why this is treacherous Territory for republicans go to a traditionally solid republican county collin county which as we know the numbers are changing their right and We'll we'll probably see competitive races there again next year in the state house and maybe for congress as well but there are two giant school districts. They're the alan. Isd where they're not in favor of masks for the kids as a mandatory thing and then you have the plano isd where people are a lot more open to it so you have a state representative there. A couple of them Who have that area Who are in a in a in a spot. That's that split right. So what are they supposed to do about this. There folks do not agree that the governor should be able to tell school districts what to do to keep children safe. We have seen in rural parts of texas the paris. Isd which we talked about before they came up with a creative way to deal with us which is not to mandate masks but instead to make masks part of the dress code yep is they're trying to get around that there's a lot of support for masking of children who up until now have not been able to get the vaccine those kids who are twelve and under and so. There's no other to protect them. Other than distancing masks and those sorts of things and you would think that a lot of these republicans who have been very adamant that children should actually be in class instead of remote learning which we know is actually better for the kids to be in person to for their for their education but to do that..
Fort Bend ISD Board Approves Mask Mandate for Students, Staff
"And staff will soon be required to wear masks. All fort bend. Isd schools the decision to mandate face coverings was settled in a four to three vote last night by the district's board of trustees the mandate will take effect once the administration puts in place protocols for the requirement dozens of fort ben. Isd parents protested both for and against mask last night at that school board meeting our savant herndon was there and says people were passionate on. Both sides of the issue for been is parent. Kelly post says she's not dismissing the six hundred sixty five active cases within the district. But she doesn't think it's fair to blame schools. The first day of school hundreds of cases where reporting we know that they didn't get it from school. So why are we counting these numbers. School postings mass mandate isn't needed cureton. who's in outer another parent disagrees. Because of how nervous her kid is in class. I'm frantic every day. And frankly he had a very mild stomach today. And i kept him home. Other parents are wondering how long mass mandate will be in place for and if it will actually work keeping cases

"What find blood from he was unvaccinated. How you'd go about that sixty percent of the eligible. Us population is fully vaccinated. So most of the nation's blood is now coming from donors who have been inoculated. Here's a story that makes me feel kind of sad. it's sad. Abby timmermans lives in belgium and for the last four years. She has gone to the zoo every week. In belgium to visit a chimpanzee named cheetah a thirty eight year old chip and cheetah has gotten so attached attached to her. They spend a lot all their time together at the window. Night kind of blowing little kisses and waving and stuff sweet. Yeah but the zoo said this is not good for cheetah. So they've banned addy from going to the zoo really. Yeah at anti says. I love that animal and he loves me. I haven't got anything else. Why do they wanna to take that away. At the zoo has thrown cold water over the friendship and sent a letter to addie warning her not to visit bosses. Say it's not good for the chimp on a social level and said he must be able to get on with the other chimps. Well he's got the other chimps six days out of the week and most of this particular day. I guess i don't really understand but then you know i'm not a chimp expert right now. I always say people know their business know their business better than i do. Because i don't know anything about their business but it's just sad. I think i think so too..

"Getting underway and just a few minutes to decide whether or not to require masks on. Plano campuses clayton neville. Is there in plano clayton. What's going on. Well tell you what Dave we just heard a lie chant. Here a few moments ago we've got You know. Dozens and dozens of people really on both sides of debate out here and the argument from some is choice. Now the others are that masks or the safest idea so plato. Isd at eight o'clock this morning will hold an emergency meeting to discuss masks. Possibility of perhaps mass requirement. We know that. A lot of school districts In the dallas area or in defiance of the governor's order now. The legal system has delayed a lot of bad. So we're just waiting to play out but here in plano parents on both sides of the issue. They've brought their signs. They've brought their voices and they're going to be heard with the public comment portion of this meeting a little bit later on today. i mean imagine. This could go portion of the day with all the people who are wanting to comment. Yeah and you know. There have been several announcements in the thirty minutes. That i've been here for people that have said if you want to speak. You better get in there now. So yeah that that sign up list is filling up. I'm looking right now in the crowd. I just gotta walked to the back of it to get an idea. And i would guess none of fifty sixty people but fifty sixty parents lined up outside of the isd board meeting before this emergency meeting. It's not not typical here in plano. So certainly a lot of activity waking up this morning plano. Ifc know what's not. Typical is having a board meeting on monday morning a week after school starts why why now. Yeah and eight. Am and you know. We'll probably find out more on that in the meeting for the exact reasons for the emergency session but from a lot of the parents i've spoken with. They feel like there is some pressure because other districts like richardson. Isd which neighbors. Plano dallas isd and several others across texas have been issuing these requirements. The pressure is building. you know. There's there's certainly those who are expressing their opinions about no mouse requirements. But i'm looking at about twenty twenty five people who are pushing. That's right now too. So the district is getting it on both sides any idea how the board members stand on this issue. Well you know. They haven't put a requirement in place now so they have opted in the past not to do this however plano. Isd strongly encouraged mass wearing but they have been against mandates to this point. The question will be. How much does that pressure. Or how much does rising cases Impact their decision. Today you can hear the crowd certain to kinda chance again. It's what do we want. We want choice. that's what they're chanting. Now amy behind us. What does that mean choice. What what position are they taking. They're taking the position of no mass requirements. They want the parents to choose whether or not their children. We're wear masks all right. thanks clayton. Sounds like it's gonna be a very interesting very unusual gathering there in plano. This yeah this is. This is interesting. I don't haven't given you a copy of that there. There you go the theme of a high school yearbook this year at bigelow. High school in arkansas A love this the roaring twenties. Yeah yeah why not. You know that was the flapper dresses. No no no. It's twenty first. Twenty s twenty. Twenty one yearbook. But here's the thing it included a two page spread depicting line events from the academic school year among the highlights and lowlights included the police killings of george floyd and beyond a taylor. President trump claimed of a rigged election january six insurrection. About break-up kobe. Nineteen in other words. It just kind of put puts the time of these students in perspective with historic events. I think it's great idea but somebody at the school did not. They went in and tore out those pages out of every single copy of the before they were delivered over. Yeah students and parents say. Hey that's censorship. Isn't there a teacher who oversees the yearbook. Yes in don't they need to get approval before it's published mellon imagine madison johnston all she. I thought she was the teacher she was she was in the class that produced the yearbook. She she said that they're censoring something. That is fact. She said that they've been very very diligent. Reporting triple checking and making sure that and getting it okayed before it was printed they did get the okay but some parents complained about it being biased. Yeah because we can't believe the news if it's not what we want to believe you know so it is now the yearbook adviser says it was my favorite course to teach and i was able to open. Kids is to the world around him. Bigalow is apparently a tiny community and journalists and taught them how to look at the world objectively. And we don't have enough of that yeah. She's not very happy over this. Then there's this controversy. There are some people who need saving blood transfusions and apparently they're asking for transfusions only from unvaccinated people well and that's not an option. I mean you can't say that. No i don't think that's it's like asking. I want you know the blood of this type of person or that type of person. Oh yeah and the thing is it makes no more sense because of the the these people get the explanation. Well you'll see thing is that the the vaccination. The vaccine goes into a person's. Musk muscular you know. Since it doesn't go we don't injected into a vein. It's not running through your veins. The antibodies that are produced. do run through your bloodstream. But the actual vaccine isn't well so your body's response to it goes through your blood. Yeah anyway the folks at the american red cross say they don't know of anyone who has actually agreed to such.

Denton ISD to extend online learning into 2022 through K-8 Virtual Academy
"System that recognizes the benefits of virtual learning is the dent in independent school district just outside of Dallas, Texas right now, about a third of its more than 30,000 students are taking classes online, and they'll still have that option next year. That's because the district recently announced the launch of a new K eight virtual academy. Jamie Wilson is the superintendent. And he joins us Now. Welcome to the program. Thank you for having me today, Sarah. Now is this just about accommodating families who are worried about Cove it or are there other reasons why families and students want to stay online? So we've been an in person learning in our school district since the Tuesday after Labor Day. And giving our parents a choice to learn from home. As the years progressed, some families have made the decision to stay at home. That could be for a health reason or it could be because they're actually seeing some benefits to online learning. So we're planning to meet both needs. What kinds of students so far are you seeing benefit the most from virtual learning? Really? We're seeing a cross section of all of our students were seeing students with special needs were seeing students of gifted, talented some of our students who may B A B D or able to focus for shorter periods of time, and some students really can work through their curriculum a little faster, and it allows himself pacing to happen for our students and their families. So really, It's an individual decision that allows our students and their families to make a choice of how they want to receive their instruction. So much of school in addition to academic instruction Let's face it. A lot of it is about learning how to be around other people how to socialize with peers and with adults. How do you compensate for what? Kids who stay home Maybe year after year are not getting in that environment. We undoubtedly believed that our families will choose that be involved in extracurricular activities at school. We may even have some clubs that are available to our students. In addition to that, if you think about our families and in most families in general As we've gone through the pandemic, they've identified themselves small clusters of students for them to get with and be around so that they do get that socially. Most of learning and they do have opportunities to forge relationships. It's really Teaching us some things about collaboration in the ability of our students to self select some collaborators for their online learning is they kind of started with their own hubs in our forced online learning environment, So we think when we get intentional with it, and we train our teachers with making the best of our online learning environment that will even get As good or better results than we're seeing with our in person remembers.
