"To your right is Isaac Neil, bear grease assistant to the regional producer. Isaac Neil. Good to have you, Isaac. I'm glad to be here. Yeah, man. We've had a heck of a 24 hours. We have, not even 24 hours. We have, we have, we have, to your right, Jordan blissett. Yes, sir. How are you doing, man? I am wonderful. I couldn't be any better today, actually. Yeah, I mean, I'm assuming people kind of get the gist of what's going on after wheels conversation. Yeah, yeah. Now, Jordan, I would have known you from primo two, which you don't work at primos now. Tell me what you're doing now. Pretty much just doing real estate and I also help people get healthy. So to doing two things at once. Yeah. But you, you met like, and that's where we would have I would have known your face and voices from some of the like and I worked together at primo's for 6 years doing a true series there and traveled all over the place and this became best buddies. And what's the name of the realty company? Open studies and properties. And that factors into where we are right now. While we have access to haunt this place, so what we do is we specialize in like recreation tracks like developing, you name it, I mean everything to do with haunting land. We pretty much do it. And like the place we're on right now is part of our brokerage and it's eventually going to be up for sale for somebody else looking for a recreation place. Unless unless. Tell you what? Let's go in four ways. After this. Much more in a couple million. Claim squatter's rights. Can you describe the room that we're in right now, clay? Or the building or this house that we're staying in is on the national historic register.

"Gary. Gary was there. Brent came in and they loaded it up and Baer had to do a whole lot of it by himself and travel through the night. And I was watching him, you know, thank goodness for cell phones, because I was watching them. And it was, he got home at 5 in the morning. Having to carry that thing out out off the Woods. He didn't have, he was way out there so he didn't have an easy way to get it out of the Woods. And so he got home at 5 in the morning, had the meals in the back of the trailer with him and the bear and it was as a mom, the support that we provide these guys actually is something that gives back to us. It's been really cool to see bear hunting has kind of been woven in our family. It really was the only way I could eat wild meat because it was better. And it was palatable. We've since learned how to make the other stuff good as well. But it's been something that's been a part of our family culture in a really special tradition from just putting our little babies on a bear hide for a picture to write to them, grow up and become a hundreds themselves. And it's just part of our family culture. So kudos to you guys who are here supporting whoever it is you're supporting. That's a hunter. It gives back. It gives back in a lot of different ways. And it's part of our culture as our cans and as Americans as clay says. And it's a part of all of our culture, even those of us who don't actually get out there and do the hunting itself. That was a good monologue. I think mine was better. I'll tell you what, it was pretty succinct. It was a shorter fishing trip. Brent, you got a bear hunt story for us? Yeah, last year I killed this many bears. So if anybody needs some help, sorry advice on how to kill no bears. Come see me, I'll be right over here. Yeah. They added a hood to their bestselling heavyweight merino layer. I love the fleece interior. It's as soft as a synthetic hoodie, but still features all the odor resistant insulating qualities of wool. I'll wear it as a warm mid layer for the first half of the season, and when it's really cold, I'll sometimes just wear it next to skin. I really like the addition of the hood. It just gives you a bit more warmth and versatility. Plus, it's available in first light's new solid color Terra. It's a dark brown that's found in just about every place you can imagine hunting and incidentally in every first light camel pattern. Yes. Yes, yeah. That was fun. I was, I was supposed to tell who paid for all that, who's sponsored it and presented it. And I didn't. I didn't. Any guesses who sponsored that event. That's right. Yeah, for real, man. These guys, they got wind. I didn't ask them. They got wind of that we were thinking about doing a film premiere and they said, how much money do you need? And I told them, and he said, well, how about we give you more than that? And they allowed us to rent that facility. The guys at Onyx are incredible. And go ahead. They're also presenting sponsors of this event today as well. And as a chapter, we're very thankful for that. Support as well. So they're helping us out a ton. To keep access to open up access to public land. So, no, seriously, though, on X has been very good. I know a lot of you all have been up to do that stuff today and we appreciate their support. How many people have Onyx on their phone? All right. Drop me a pen where the bears are. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Now, they were incredible. You also forgot to say who did all the work behind the scenes. Oh yeah, Isaac Neil did all the work. See the guy with big earrings. Yeah. Isaac, Isaac helps me with bear grease. He's the assistant to the original. Marin, let's talk about bears a little bit more. So we now have a hunt in the gulf coastal plain. We do. And how many bears did they kill this year? Yeah, that's a big deal. That's a big deal. How many bears did were killed under this year? They harvested 28 bears. Of course, there was a quote of 25 the season ran from December 10th to December 16th, or when the quote was met, whichever came first, the quotas Monday, evening, roughly 5 or 6 o'clock. Well, it wasn't closed until Monday, three days into it. And there's a little bit of information, but I consider it great information. I consider the fact that the season ran through the weekend, I considered that a great success. Tell me what you mean by that. Well, it was long enough to at least get through the weekend. Okay. Okay, so what I really didn't want to happen was at such a time frame in the fall that you open season on Saturday in by noon Saturday they had already checked enough bears in the season closes and then you got a lot of spill over and everything else like that. So but I also didn't want the season set so late that a lot of bears weren't on the landscape. Remember what I talked about the dean in chronology of males and females. We want to set it late enough to where the females, some of them, or at least in the den to where they're protected. They're in a dense cycle, making the males. We want to bias the harvest toward males. So it ended up being 14 and 14, which isn't great. But at least it didn't close in the first half day of

"He was that was a Korean Schneider transition. He was big into mules. Odell and Emil? Yeah. Yeah. He had the one where he was with a New York City music executive and he shot the mule uncle verses mule. He was played by 26 crops with her. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so we've been doing a two part series on the cultural impact of the book where the red fern grows. And the way that I described it was it was that one time that coon hunting, this super niche, small scale hunting related thing did a 360 slam dunk on pop culture made him love it. All right. And that's the truth. I mean, that book is just so widespread to this day used across the country and urban areas. Always thought it was kind of a regional phenomenon because I live about an hour from talent call where that book happened. So we did that. Somebody wrote me and I got to give them credit and I don't even know who it was and said, hey, you got to do something on Jerry clower. And I don't want to, we could get into the details of how I know about Jerry clower. Which we will, we will, Steve has a few things to say about that. Whether you like it or not. But very quickly. So the part of the reader is seeing behind the scenes of the bear grease podcast. We didn't have this planned out for a long time. If we had, I had my friend Steve rinella, talk about Jerry Clark because apparently he's an expert on Jerry clower. We put this together relatively quickly. And so my friend Isaac Neil, who helps me with some burglary stuff, I was in Arizona and I said, Isaac, when I come home on Monday, I have got to have an expert about Jerry clower that I mean, I've got to get an audio recording in like two days from when I get home. When I got he was messaging me and he scoured the Internet called Jerry's old manager and couldn't get in touch with him and so he called the city council office of liberty, Mississippi. Calls him on the phone. City council and he tells him, hey, we're trying to find a Jerry clower expert. They give him the cell phone number of the mayor of liberty, Mississippi, which he calls and leaves a message with the mayor of liberty, Mississippi. Within three hours, he gets a call from John Newman, Jerry clowers, neighbor from east fork Mississippi. And so Isaac's like clay. We got Jerry clower's neighbor and I hadn't talked to John. So I didn't know much about him. I said, you know, what's he like? Is he excited to do this? Like, what's the extent of his knowledge of Jerry? And he said, man, he seems pretty legit, pretty excited. And so I called John and just deep southern accent, just like Jerry. You know, I find these regions have obviously like a Mississippi Mississippi accent would sound a certain way..

"The door, like fully dressed. What are y'all doing? It's great to see you boys. And we're like, we're truck stuck, and he's like, oh, no problem. I got my four wheel drive. We'll just go in there and get it out. And so McMaster McMaster drives back in there. Gets us unstuck at one in the morning. And then we drive home, get home at four in the morning. I remember that. And anyway, that was the story. Did you find the dogs? We got the dogs. They met us on the road on the way to McMaster's house. Okay. So the dogs were with us when we went back. So we had to load the dogs up and mister mcmasters truck to get back. Did he get it? Or did you have to like, you know that book, where the red fern grows? We were doing that. Oh man, he was English teacher. I knew for sure would have known about where the red friend grows. That feels like a missed opportunity. Yeah. Can you get him on the second part? I wrote a poem about coon hunting when I was in the 9th grade in his class and I still remember a phrase of it. I'll tell you later. Hey, we have some we have two sort of guests. Today, we have Michael roseman with us. So this part where we're going to introduce guest. Michael roseman. Hello, man. Good to see you. Good to see you. Good to be here. Michael is a coon hunter. Michael's Reeves. And so we got Daniel root, Josh spill miker, present. Brent Reeves. Isaac Neil. We'll get back to Michael. Isaac, did you know Isaac works with meat eater now? Is that an appropriate way to say that? I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. It's a true story. Yeah. Isaac is helping me a lot with bear grease right now. He's come alongside and is helping with just every part of the burger's podcast. So that's a big deal. I'm gonna chief facilitating officer. CFO. Quite a title. Facilitating whatever. Maybe you can clean this mess up. Yeah. Yeah. So Isaac is Isaac is a photographer videographer lives in Springfield, Missouri, and all around good guy. So they brought in a fixer is what they did. They were like, Isaac go in there. Yeah. Fix it. Fix it..

"Couldn't. Do you know what it meant? No. Go to the office, and then it was swats. And I never looked really. It was the first day. That's the first time preschool. I got a woman the first day I said with grade. I mean, what happened? In 7th grade, I got blasted on the first day of school. First day of school, first day school is set to president for not only that year. The rest of your life. Pretty well. And why did you get? Well, man, we went from this. You know, you always had a desk. But in the science class, they had a table there so it was two folks to the table. And my buddy Greg Hayes was sitting with me. That was a mistake. You are not lying. Because he whispered to him. I trust him with my life, but what happened was, what it was, was we were talking. And the teacher. I can't remember now. Which one I was talking about? I think that you can't quite recall. I assume it was Greg. Anyway, there's he just said, are y'all talking? And I mean, immediately you would think he's saying, you know, stop. No, sir. He's like, you told me a lot. I go, stay in the hole. I thought, wow, this is harsh. I'm facing a good set outside. Well, I go outside, I'm standing on the wall. Well, the same too bad. And then he walks out with the paddle. This is got serious. First day. First day, he said, three days or three leagues. I said, give me three legs. Three days of what? Of going home? No. Yeah. That's exactly what they want to know what they did down where you're from same here. Yeah, that's the kind of stuff they did in Hatfield too. So I'm never a never got whoopings at school. I was sent to the principal's office one time for defending my friend, Donald Myers. Donald, somebody was jumping on Donald Trump. I saw it from a long ways away. Made me mad. And I went over. He's like slow motion off with the guy kind of wrestled with it. You did. And the teacher saw, she was like, go to the office. And so we went and stood by the office and I thought my life was over. Yeah. The bell rang in the principal came out and was like, y'all go to class. And so just took off. You know what? You know what I did, though? I went and told Gary Newcomb. I just don't tell. I want you to know. I was sent to the principal's office today. Number one, if that boy from kindergarten says I cuss. I didn't. This was first grade. So this was the next year. Nervous about getting busted for. Hey, welcome to the burgers render. I have no conscience. Man, I'm very, very excited about today. We have some one very special guest. Everybody else here has been here multiple times. We're gonna start we're gonna go counter clockwise. To my right, Brett Reeves. Hey, buddy. Man, good to see you. Just get back from bear camp. Yeah. We're going to talk about that. We talk about some bear camp here in a little bit. Yummy. Isaac Neil in the old, you're like an old hat now angry surrender. Working on just, I'm going to move into your house. You got some spare rooms now, so pack a duffel next time. So he was a bear camp too Dan. Awesome. We're gonna save our mystery guest to the end. Skipping over the mystery guest, misty newcombe, welcome, misty. I also was at barricade. She was. Yes. I wondered why I didn't get a bad camera. It was Friends. Hey, listen. If I had more places to bear hunt, I would invite all of you. You know, I take it personally. And to miss these right, Daniel root. Doctor Dan root, good to see you, man. Happy to be here. Brent, do you mind giving us a audio tour of Daniel's attire? He's looking pretty sharp today. Daniel's hair is parted in the middle. It's look very aerial air aerodynamic. His beard is full, and I see no gray hair in there that from this, oh, a little patch. I see a little patch. But he's dressed in a blue plaid shirt with a tie. He's got a tie tack. Is that a half Windsor or a full Windsor? That is. Go ahead. This is a glimpse and this right there is a cast is this. Is it glimpse into misty's life right here? Mister tells the story. Here's the story. Yeah. He's also got on blue jeans, some kind of cowboy boots, and a belt buckle, the size of small child. Something about old Fort Worth. Oh four days rodeo old fort days. Let's go buckles from 19 79. No way. That's the year that you were born in 79. My birth first. No. I'm older. No, I've always been over taller and better looking. Oh, man. Wow. I was dancing. I don't know. Everybody knows that dang it. I don't know how you don't teach math dude. You just gave me taller and better looking than me. I am slightly older. We voted. You know, I just want to applaud Dan that the hairline is special. It's kind of feathered and my kids know uncle Dan best for being the guy who went a decade without brushing your hair? I still don't brush my hair. It just falls down now. It does. It didn't for a long time. It went straight up for a long time. It was in my youth that was extra Henry. Okay, now it's calm down. Hey, okay. Our mystery guest. Sitting directly in front of me is my uncle Mike Schultz. Mike, it is an honor to have you here. I say hi to everybody, Mike. Hey, everybody. So it's good to be here. So I've got to give an introduction to Mike Schultz. Mike went with me. Number one, he's here because he went with me to Arizona three or four weeks ago whenever it was when we went to meet Warner Glenn. So that's what we're going to talk about on this podcast is Warren or Glenn. So Mike went down there with me and Mike schulz was the one who had to have been close to 20 years ago. I mean, when you first told me about your friend, Jey ducard, who had photographed and had these friends who were the glens and they were mountain lion hunters and his daughter hunted with him and they had mules and they were you told me about them years and years ago and showed me photos of them. And I just always thought, wow, that's so cool. And then just this year, it kind of all came together and you went with me down there. And Mike is a to say Mike is a photographer. Anymore, it's pretty easy to be a photographer. Like I have occasionally said, yeah, I'm a photographer, you know, because I have a nice camera and take photos and stuff. Mike Schultz has aside from his professional career which he was a dentist. So he is a doctor as well. We can go home doctor Schultz. He is dedicated his life to photography to a pretty big portion of his world. It might tell us just a little bit about the type of photography you focused on. Well, for the beginning of my career, it was pretty much landscape oriented. And I did that with large box cameras with big film holders and that kind of thing. I did that for probably 25 years. And then I started working professionally, mostly because I had an interest in large industry and then I started using smaller cameras and getting more interested in industry and what goes on in large industry like steel mills or foundries in that type of thing. And that's been the pretty much the focus of my work. Since then, although I still do some landscape work as well, but most of it is more centered around industry and the workers and the work that they do. Mike has traveled around the world. He got a Guggenheim. Right. Do you.
