"Let's say. I know where you're tossing and like as a fucking high school kid. I'm like you'd never like something in my mind. You never go back to the scene of crime and we went back and the cops pulled us over. They fucking cuffed us. As a high schooler coughed us. My mom comes to pick me up your silva gracefully right there. They're young buck two of them. I'm like crying crying. My mom was like so like looks at me with the disappointment. Like never forget like a thing where she was like confused like. Why are you doing this like you. Don't need any of this stuff like if you ask for anything i would have got you not that i ever ask for anything anyway but it was just like. It was just humiliating. I was so she like giving you angie and chips and she actually being me soup but bleeding up to that. I was like pulling up on people in highschool being like irvan i. Something's wrong with me. Grabbing like random people. I kind of knew that i thought would know about weed. Oh i don't know like. I smoked laced. Tweet like we'll pick and all of them were high because was four twenty man. I i really truly like have those moments. Where i've been unlike drugs like when i used to drugs like where i'm like. You're talking to somebody like the opposite of like maybe being on like too much like a different drug or you're telling somebody how much you love them and how you would like kill somebody. What was that and then the next day. You're like. I barely no that person telling them that i would do anything for them on. So a bad feeling sucks. Yeah i hate getting really really drunk now because like i just can't drink as much yeah. It's like exhausting with drugs. Still do drugs. I just don't do them. Like i'll i'll like i'll smoke a little here and there I don't mind smoking. But i look if i smoke. I only have one. Hit like at nighttime. We used to play with your nose. Oh in college. Yeah like for sure and a little bit after. It's just like it doesn't like for me. Like i just like i. I did it already. And i'm like i don't need to do that anymore. Yeah was always embarrassed. Howard act if. I did drugs so i kinda stopped you guys out there. That are fun. I mean i think the most embarrassing behavior for me drug drug wise is like i. I never wanna be high on weed in public ever again yet. Ever in my life. I get really self conscious needs to be sluggish these. I don't want to do a drug. That makes me dumber. Yeah you know. Yeah that's that's that's not. The i don't know weed is i'm i've become anti weed An anti weed anti weed antics brandon ward back. Yeah i think most of my childhood was like trying to everything in my power to not be embarrassing. That was like my number one thing. I do now want to embarrass myself and everybody this flow by which i embarrassed myself more. If i go back and change things i would dislike. Look back did really. Didn't matter if i embarrassed myself. In front of these people ultimately who gives his whole life and embarrassment. I feel like everything. I've done up into this poems like i really like. "The bench and then there's the team defense who's defending where we can look. Lebron rush sharing the ball on one end. Neither one of them is at the high point of their career when it comes to defending in particular has not been good at all. And that's where the huge drop off is from russ to dennis. Schreuder he was the one who is providing all that. But you took me to the thing that i really wanna hit because this is the number one element on why. I don't believe that this combination is going to get the lakers to where they wanna go. And lebron james and it's lebron james and the postseason and you just casually marcellus just casually said he will turn it up when it thank you. Thank you for letting me see my guy. Just turn it up when he needs to turn it up. What happened against the phoenix suns. When anthony davis went down lebron aims. Turn it up at any point in that series. He had one game where he had dutch. Double digit assists. He never scored over thirty points. He had damn near as many turnovers as assist in several games. There was never point. Hit one game. Where had double digit rebounds. Not one single triple double. If there was ever a time for lebron james just to turn up in the postseason because he had to. That was the time and we didn't see it. And i don't think it's because he didn't want to i think it's because he couldn't i think it's because he's a genius and he's understood his stay in l. a. Without anthony davis. Good luck. Trying these kids today say. Let's work smarter not harder and liberalized that his basketball i cue which is going lap. Most people in this world is going to tell him. I need anthony davis. Because that's what the results of totem i need. Anthony davis right now. Now he's gonna tell them. What's the brooke will help us out. I love you. But i just don't understand russell. Westbrook going into his fourteenth season. We saw his assists dropped to just seven per game in houston off ball but it became the most effective efficient russell westbrook ever now only fill go percentage but deeper numbers effective field goal percentage highest in his career. And you'll tell me a guy who can drop down off ball four worst in terms of assists per game in his career and has twenty seven points per game. Plays almost thirty six minutes. And now we're looking at the guy just two years removed from that and that thinking he's gonna be in the dishes. A supplement to a team like the lakers. That was twenty one a seven before injury that was second in the west and it has lebron. Ad coming back healthy talks with. Hey it's pace if he's playing fast and he's playing faster than anybody else during the regular season. That's gonna work but he can't play fast with this lakers team. He can't play fast with trevor rees. Dwight howard lebron james. Not at this point in their career. That's where his efficiency is at. Its best he just doesn't have a laker team that's to allow him to be at his best when it comes to efficiency. Uk spill westbrook ready west. They go win the west. Because the centers name westbrook go get it except the coming up. The rams acquire matthew stafford to take them to the next level but shot mcveigh's new-look off this all hype all disco before those yourself w. the ram saw their first action against another team. When they travel irvan oxnard for joint practice with the cow over the weekend. While new rams quarterback matthew stafford look good head coach. Sean mcveigh was unhappy with offense as a whole saying quote. Did as good a job. As i expect us to do the fox. Nfl is bookie brooks is back with us but also any concerns. The rams offense is all hype. Not at all fellas Because type is a matter of. Can the rams offense be prolific. i know affect. They will be prolific. Now i have concerned if the rams will win a super bowl out concerns of the rams win a playoff game got those concerns but not our offense will live up to it regardless of what matthew stafford doesn't the playoffs. He's passed for five thousand yards in a season. One of only eight quarterbacks in the history of the nfl to do so he has to receivers the only two receivers in the nfl combined on the same team with one hundred eighty plus catches and over two thousand yards the last two seasons. I know all right. You got one of the best armed talented quarterback you got one of the best hands at receiver and you've got one of the wisest coaches offensively in the nfl. They will up to any hype. I mean that's great all those numbers and everything that you spit out about staffer but and and what they have but the problem is they're super bowl or bus fare if they don't get to the super bowl and win it. It's a failure. Because i saw i watch jerry goff team to the super bowl and they fell short and losing to the patriots and matthew. Stafford doesn't take the rams to the super bowl and win it. What does all this been about. And the reason why i'm concerned. His i believe the most valuable offensive player is now out for the season and death cam acre because this team is built on the running game which i may wants to do is what all shanahan or disciples of the senate hand system wanna do. They wanna run the stretch to one side utilize. Some kind of bootlegger play action to shake take shots down to feel when now without cam. Makers they don't have a threat in the back of that will make defensive coordinators shudder and change your deepest game plan. So i've seen this formula before for matthew stafford in detroit. We only had eleven one hundred yard rushers in his career. Only six point five percent. Did you have someone that could get over. One hundred yard and spit out his record. Seventy four ninety and one. And so i don't know if matthew staffer can get the ramp to the super bowl on the strength of his right arm without a balanced running game to help him. And so i am very concerned about the rams and what the winds will accomplish this year on which to bookie as much as i love the rams. I love the personnel. I love the names. I love the person now. These i love. Sean mcveigh man. I can't let that likability get in the way of me doing my job. I think there may be some defensive coordinators out there saying hey we don't figure mcvay out big dog because he started off i in the league then second in the league then eleven in the league and then last year twenty second in the league in terms of office and now you just assume because of sean jackson and matthew stafford who are beast. But that's going to get them back to where they were a leak. I don't know how prolific that can be. You got to remember. They're missing camakers this year. Like cam lakers god. They were liberal. Rely on offer this running game to get better. That's going to be gone office. Align aging be real not the deepest ranked twenty second into red zone and turns of touchdowns. Now understand you swap out jared. Goff you say all things that have been fixed. Be careful because you swap quarterback with them defense is also going to be good and mighty that you're facing ten of their eighteen games. This season defense. That finished in the top half of the league in total defense last season. Fifteen for better. They're gonna dogs this year and they're gonna start off ass against fourteenth top teen of the nfl. We'll see we're gonna see fast too as well. But i'll know over here telling me that the rams just going to go back to just two thousand seventeen and it also a super bowl as bucky said they so damn close to the ceiling and in terms of expectations. The only thing they can do to make everyone.

"Thing that i want to emphasize for for this conversation is that it's not just these two countries right the the model that that's in place in hungary's of political scientists call competitive authoritarianism and it's worth unpacking with that means because it seems like kind of contradictory term right like a thorn harian government should not be competitive right like it puts it on a continuum this kind of government between something like russia where there are elections but like everybody knows they're a joke right and it's i. I think russia at one point was a competitive authoritarian regime but to my mind crossed the line long ago Or or assad syria to take more extreme example where they have elections but he wins like ninety five ninety nine percent of the of the vote. Right like that's a joke. The elections are quite obviously sham. In hungary they don't manipulate the vote counts typically or at least there's not any evidence of that stuffing ballots. But it's not a democracy in the sense that people have like a free and fair ability to choose who's going to lead them though there. There's an election coming up next year and the opposition. Every single opposition party has united into antion front and the polls are pretty close. I don't hold a lot of optimism that the opposition will be able to win a majority against oregon. It's theoretically possible but given gerrymandering given the way that they've rigged the electoral system. It seems implausible to me. I could be wrong but that doesn't mean the election doesn't matter right. It seems like it's very plausible that they could win enough seats to be able to deny or on. A two-thirds majority which is what he needs to to amend the constitution it will and hungary at power. They've used his party fetus. Used quite a bit that. That's what a competitive authoritarian regime is like right. Elections are not fair but the you matter and the outcomes and the and what happens in them is significant for the future of the country. Turkey is another really good example of a competitive authoritarian regime. Right seems very implausible. That air to on would be dethroned in an election anytime soon. But it's very clear from the past years of history that elections have had significant consequence rate in terms of the direction the country and so that. That's the model that we're working with. And hungary and it's the model. I worry that the republican party is converging upon for its future of the united states. And it's one that's increasingly popular around the world and the thing that makes it. So insidious is that. A lot of the people who run these kinds of countries deny that they're authoritarian regime at all and because there isn't some kind of obvious marker you can use rate you can't just say oh yeah look at that rigged election because that's not how they control an exercise power. It's more subtle. You have these interminable. You have these interminable debates with supporters of the regime about whether or not the election is really fair and obviously isn't but they've managed to delude themselves into thinking that it is or at least have created enough of a pr smokescreen that they can make. It seem that way and it seems not just seems right. The the carlson trip proves that among influential segment of american conservatives. They're they're really falling for it. They are buying what viktor orban's selling. Yeah and it's not new right. I mean this is. This has been happening but it is. It is relatively new in terms of recent decades. 'cause for a while previously you know a lot of republicans would actually condemn orban's can if moves right. It wasn't just like an automatic thing that members the gop like loved or baen. It's kind of slowly evolved in that direction right back and i think to especially under trump. We saw a lot of this of lauding of orban's model. Also that coincides with what was doing right because as oregon became more effective the model that he was laying out became more attractive but under the trump administration. They've trump openly praised or baden complain and wish that he had the control especially over the media and the ability to silence his opponents like he was like bad. I wish i had with that guy. Had like we know that his his former ambassador to hungary like said that trump said that we should have wished that he had this kind of power whether or not trump actually said it out loud not clear but the ambassador did say he believes the trump want right right at but it trump has said other things he told reporters viktor. Orban's has done a tremendous job in so many ways respected all over europe. Probably like me a little bit controversial. But that's okay so yeah you know he's been pretty open. My hey good guy you know. He's done great things and like if you ask anyone in europe who cares about liberal democracy. They would say what no. It's the opposite of what we think. Hungary is in trouble with the eu. For lots of things that it you know irvan keeps doing keep running afoul saying like they're even threats like oh should be kick kick hungry out of the eu even because it's becoming this as you said competitive authoritarian state but not you know not a real true democracy anymore. Yeah and i think. Jack's point of wide so insidious which combined with gina saying about. We're hungry fits in terms of how people view it is. What is so insidious about it is not just that. There's no marker towards authoritarianism but the tools of democracy elections elected officials are being used to actually institute and consolidate the authoritarian regime. So it is a lot harder to to challenge against and to find the discourse to actually discuss it and you know. That's what's also kind of contradictory john as you mentioned with the european union hungary is in trouble but yet when the eu sanctions you know another country for anti-democratic measures you know. We're gonna talk about belarus like hungary's part of that so it's very contradictory because when you are a democracy and you backside but you're already somewhat part of the club. It is much much harder to figure out a way to deal with that actor. So in hungary's case it's very challenging for the eu to figure out what to do but what makes it even more difficult is when you have people who are now particularly united states. I would imagine some right wing movements in europe as well actually see or bonn as a hero and as somebody to admire and to be followed and that just complicated and makes it even more messy. Yeah so earlier this year. The european people's party which is the eu faction That is the umbrella party. I center right factions in in the eu like so Uncle merkel's party for example..

"Really those kinds of things would bring people to their senses. Nobody by the time we got to the end of four years of trump would would have been taking any of that trump stuff seriously right but obviously they did so. I i guess. I wish that i can say yes j. I think you're right if we if we just give these guys long enough airtime. They're eventually going to discredit themselves. But now we're four and a half year or more if you consider the you know the election time of prompting a world. Let's say six years into that and and and it doesn't appear to me that additional crazy evidence. I in other words the pillow guy showing up. I don't think we do anything other than potentially kind of solidified on people's position rather than switching them more so there's always going to be that that core group out there who aren't going to change their mind but i i think if you interviewed i don't know and again pulling is is difficult on these types questions most republicans and again. There are so many different questions as to do believe the election was stolen. I do not believe the election was stolen. Do you believe There was fraud Yes i do. Because there's always and in all sorts of elections was it of a magnitude effect the result. No of course not were there steps taken by various states or or county board of elections that i find really troubling absolutely that ought to be looked into again do those invalidate the election. No so i mean. I think you can. You can perceive both ways that that say look. We have electoral issues. There are reasons to be concerned about some of the procedures and policies. That were that happened in in various states at the same time acknowledging. It didn't change the result. That doesn't mean we don't look into potential trouble because maybe it might be worse next time But i so so going back to this. I mean the generous six committee while the election. The election is a tangential issue to it. That's not what the committee is is there to determine. How did this happen under your rationale. I mean what. What committee could. Jim jordan irvan. Well anyway. I mean to be frank. I mean if i was in his district my answer would be naive for me. Of course. he's not my congress person so i don't get to make that determination. His district does But if he was mine my answer would be. I would have to vote. No from every time because i i don't think he wouldn't be qualified. I think that. I think that disqualifies him from the public trust and i would not be able to vote for an individual who had Who had in. The second instance continued to vote to not recognize the electoral college. Vote and and and great. They're millions of people who voted the other way. That's in what i mean..

"I have to tell you about this episode before we start. I just see no. I'm going to break this up into two episodes part. One is essentially the entire backstory of our main character. Gary hynick while part two describes the absolutely horrible things. Gary did to eventually pay the ultimate price for his crimes. I say this with almost every episode. But i really feel. This recording was so different than what i've personally done up to this point for the show that i just to leave it alone. As is being charge of production. I usually have a blast blending in music messing with the audio until his good as i can possibly get it. I take out a lot of the bloopers etc. However as i listened to this audio felt like it would be best present it in. It's most purest form. So what this episode. There's going to be sound effects. There's not gonna be music background. You know whatever just mean friend sitting in the same room. While share a story with them. I was going to call this episode a nightmare. North marshall street a nod to one of my favorite horror movie series a nightmare on elm street but on the way home today i was listening to the. Mtv nirvana unplugged album. Which if you don't know it's an album that famous nineties rock band irvan made with virtually all acoustic instruments and i thought that that's exactly what this episode should be. It should be called something like gary. Hi nick unplugged just pure raw unedited in simple art in addition to the audio being left virtually uncut and raw also hope that you recognize the depths that actually went into doing this story lending on facebook. They're monsters they're cool. Did you too small for me too. Small too small. You can't fit in them. i could. It's tax similar but you don't. Where do you go from that car where you go my car. Yeah i i mean as far as race cards. There's nothing can change the color on the throne. I drove a porsche. It was a porsche turbo when it was a long time ago. My friend arnold schwarzenegger's porsche. Okay that he had traded him. So because i got a surprise for you coming. It'd be like wow well driving that thing. At first and second degree gear in los angeles was i. It was like five six lead but until new turbos the new turbos. There sofa confessed really there in say they can pop. Yeah but it's all Trip topic now. No like you can get a gt three storing and six feet and they. What's crazy is california's the only state that made illegal to have a six speed. This is awesome. Yeah he's not gonna fuck with you. They wanted to fucking ban. The sixty torn well. What if they come up with an electric car that is have they and that blows that away speed-wise for all those i i i don't. I don't acknowledge him. But what about on the track man. Love it because that way you can do feel everything you feel like. You're actually physically driving Well you know what i find. Weird j goes to those car like shows. Yeah and there's one of the biggest ones malibu. Every sunday debate jay. Leno's their seinfeld the biggest one. What i don't get is when these older rich and pull up in including the ones j goes to in califor- colorado and he goes all every week when they pull up and they have this weird arrogance like they built the car. Yeah you had nothing to do with the quality standing perform so that are but you're your posted up like you handbuilt that well see those guys got a little bit of a gut. They're wearing the jacket that matches the car. No those so. This is what's funny. So there's there's groups right it's like lopping there's grew. Yeah so already embarrassed by the way. When i see that there's a group i appreciate it. But there's a group so if it's in jayanta this must be entering so there's different genres of groups in these car groups so if you go by the porsche group. They're all friendly pretty hard work in. There's no like billionaires in the group like porsches a real man's call and i have say it's more about substance right not as much about its performance. Narcos reliable.

The 93rd Academy Award ceremonies Sunday hit an all time low ratings were down 58.3% from last year, and this was the third time they did not have a host for the show, and it's scored a 1.9 ratings among like the core audience 18 to 49 adults, and this is just a huge drop from last year alone. 64.2% drop in just that category from 2020, so an all time low with the ratings justice Imperative. The C SPAN chamber cameras would they just leave the cameras on and it's like nobody there sometimes. Sometimes they're they're 1.7. Oh, man as a comparative, Yeah. And Anthony Hopkins won the best actor Oscar Sunday night, and he posted a video message yesterday morning and said Here I am my homeland and whales and 83 years of age. I did not expect to get this word. I really did. I'm grateful to the academy and then he brought up Chadwick Boseman, who is also nominated in the category, he said. I want to pay tribute to travel Bozeman, who was taking from taken from us too early. I really did not expect this, so I feel privileged and honored. Well, Derek Bozeman Chatterbox brother. He talked to TMZ because fans were kind of outraged and thought that you just snubbed by not winning this award, and they waited to give this award is the final award of the night. Usually it's best picture. So when they gave that out a little bit earlier, right before the end. I think a lot of fans thought Oh, Chadwick's gonna win it this huge thing at the end of it, but his brother says it wasn't a snub because every nominated actor was excellent and deserving of the award. He says the family isn't upset or agitated. Whatsoever that Chadwick's name wasn't called at the end of the Oscar ceremony, and I think his brother coming out saying that is beautiful as well, because in Shadwick, I I never met the man, obviously, but I'm sure from everything I've heard he would say the same thing. It's just I'm gone. Because I'm gone doesn't mean you give me an award given awards my body of work this fancy, said the body works fantastic. It is. But how many's fans have seen the father? I haven't I haven't you So you're gonna make that argument. You better make sure that you've seen every movie in that category and I might have missed something. I didn't see a second of the Oscars. We were out of town and stuff but didn't miss much like there's a lot of outrage at Anthony Hopkins, like he didn't give it to himself over. John seems like people on Twitter romantic he didn't expect to win. The thing is just letting out whales. Guys like 83 years of age is hanging on a farm or something is what's going on. Uh, until the Hollywood headlines all right, 6 55, would you have the battle of the sexes coming up and just before that $1000 easy money on the way with one of 43, my FM.

See that, too? And where were salt trucks are going? Are you coming to my road on my highway? Or is that just something you see internally? It's an internal tool for us so that our managers can can see what the conditions are like out there. They could know how to better deploy. Our resource is, for example, if Let's say the Snow was slacking off in the western part of Hamilton County, and we were getting a handle on that pretty good, but we were still getting slammed over and In the eastern part of Hamilton County. We could deploy couple of the trucks over there based just on the manager clicking around and seeing, like, you know, where is everybody? At S O? Yeah, It's an internal tool for us right now to be able to check and it's It's very handy. We tweet a lot of photos out from those dash cams that Aaron those plow trucks and so You know, it's it's important that we show people that you know our trucks are out there indeed. Matt Marine with oh dot Join us, Matt. Let me ask you this. So what is the state of Ohio's salt levels at just go? And I ask that, for instance, because back when I was a trustee, you know, you would kind of gauge how much salt you gotta buy. And you all you do is you look for at the year before maybe a couple of years before and kind of All right. We only need to spend this amount of our budget on salt this year. We've obviously gotten ah lot more snow than we have the last couple. How are you in terms of salt levels throughout the state of Ohio, especially here in the Cincinnati area? Yeah, Statewide we have about 413,000 tons of salt under roof across the entire state. Um, so we're well stocked. That's about half a little under half of our total. Apply our total capacity on so far. We've used almost 600,000 times, which if you look at the average back to 2014, or averages about 470,000 tons, who were certainly ahead of that. We're using a lot, but we still have a lot still left in the in the reserves, So I'm pretty confident that will be it will be okay. At least here. You know, Unless we get more four weeks like this, then we might start getting a little a little worried, but hopefully we don't have this pattern Continue. Matt. What are the I assume the interstates are the top priority. And then after that, what's what's like the next? Is it a tiered priority system that O'Dowd has included the Ritz? So we have priority routes. And so it's important to note that oh, dot takes care of all the state and US routes outside municipalities, and then all of the interstates as well. We don't do the city streets..

"He won 23 Grammy Awards. NPR's Felix Contreras was a fan, and he's here to tell us more about trickery is Lexie. Good Morning, Felix. Good morning, you know, to say the least. This was a household name Chick Corea. Chick Correa was so well respected, admired that he was a kind of musician to reference with just one name to us. He was just checked. And he bred that kind of familiarity because he had been making music for so long and because he was proficient and so many styles of jazz. That there was something for everyone for people who don't know his background. Where was he from? How did he get into music? He's from the Boston area, and he started out like so many musicians in classical music on the piano, then an interest in jazz eventually led to gigs with names like trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, vocalists, Irvan and even Latin jazz was mumble something Maria all while he was still in his twenties, he released his first album as a leader in 1968, and it's considered a benchmark for the modern jazz piano trio. I understand There's a particular jazz album that chick created that you want to talk about really groundbreaking, I think came out in 1969. Yeah, absolutely Most definitely check this out. That's a track called Bitches brew by Miles Davis, and it kicked off a genre known as jazz fusion, which was influenced by rock and funk and soul music and was played on electric instruments. In fact, electric keyboards became one of Chick Correa is calling cards, especially in his band returned forever. And yet, even with all.
