"Agreed on the framework of a three year contract extension that will keep him in place until 2027. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim irsay confirmed Tuesday at the league meetings. Goodell's current deal expires in 2024. He has been commissioner of the league since replacing Paul tagliabue in 2006. "Reaction after the Patriots lost to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night was kind of like, what the hell happened after benefit of looking at the film? Anything come clear into clearer focus other than they played like total crap for three fourths of the game? Yeah, I just thought that this was not the same patriots team that we had watched for the previous 7 games, 7, 8 games. This is just this was more back to the two and four patriots team. I don't have any ready explanation for it. I don't think the people around the team have an explanation for it. I know we've heard Mac Jones at the podium, say stuff about guys, maybe sorry for themselves, about the biweek or whatever, whatever that means. Look, I'm not willing to go to extremes. I'm not willing to say, well, this is the first real adverse road environment that they played in all season and they spit the bit. Like, oh, they're never going to be able to do this this season. They're not going to be able to go in the playoffs and win on the road. They have to get home games. I'm not ready to say that. Because the first time for anything and they really haven't had many challenging road environments this season, the bills would have been won, but the weather sort of negated all of that. And but I'm also not willing to give them a pass and just be like, well, this was just a total aberration. They'll be back to the team that they were, you know, that's not who they were. "I don't know if there's any other team in the AFC. That could do what Tennessee did against this patriots run game. And I also think the Tennessee run game is very difficult for the Patriots. When you look at the rest of the AFC, buffalo has not run the football well, they have not stopped the run well, especially gets good running teams. Kansas City, Andy Reid does not commit to the run. I think they can run the football better than people think. They just don't call for it enough. They're in love with Patrick Mahomes. I get it. Andy Reid doesn't commit to the run. Kansas City, I'll believe it when I see it if they can slow down this patriots run game. And you look at, you know, the other teams, right? Who's afraid of any of these other teams? Vegas is all over the place. Jekyll and Hyde act, you look at Pittsburgh. They can't get out of their own way defensively. Cincinnati has had a bunch of ebbs and flows this season. Joe burrow, I like, but he turns the football over a lot. And so Joe Mixon is an issue, but I think you can score on that defense against Cincinnati. I mean, you look up and down, I'm not shaking in my sneakers about the Indianapolis Colts. I think there are good team. Jonathan Taylor, obviously, is going to be an issue and that concerns me down the road. Patriots might give up 250 against Taylor. But I think if you can kind of sell out against the running force went into some mistakes, I think as we've talked about, Greg, going back a few weeks ago. It's rather obvious. The AFC is wide open, so when you have a chance to win a game like you want on Sunday like you said you take it, you run with it. And then you look into the future and you say, well, you know, we can, if you're the Patriots, we can beat any team. But if you're going to be realistic, you could also lose to many teams in the playoffs if you don't play your best. So that's just the kind of season it's going to be. And we've got to get used to that idea. And the NFL as a whole. I mean, even in the NFC, the top tier I think is better than the AFC for sure. But you're seeing teams like Washington last night, Philadelphia kind of hanging around all of a sudden San Francisco's got it going. They win three in a row when everybody thought.

"T Y. Hilton expected to miss the start of the regular season after re aggravating a neck injury. At practice last week earlier on ESPN radio are Courtney Cronin in Shape Peppler. That happened early, and then he came back out and he was able to finish practice. But now we find out Shea that he has a back and a neck injury and he's out indefinitely and that comes on the heels. And, like 24 hours, they find out that and then Sam Ehlinger, the backup quarterback as a knee injuries out for 4 to 6 weeks. I think that this Indianapolis team for all the steps forward that they were able to take in the last few weeks, getting Carson Wentz back at practice, the good at least, you know, positive news that they got with Quentin Nelson, who had the same foot injury that Carson once has. That it's not going to be the end of his season, either, And then they're dealt this blow the big one here, though, as I look at all of these injuries and trying to figure out which is the worst one is probably Ehlinger because you don't know when Carson once is really going to be ready to play. He would be a first round pick but he was second round. Pick he had three receptions for eighty yards Takeaway from this game as jacob and he looked pretty solid and the colts are going with jacob and sam etlinger two quarterbacks with a lot of experience but easing looks like the more superior quarterback he he was fifteen to twenty one hundred eighty three yards another again. How do prove to your teammates that you're the guy proved to your teammates that you will take over this locker room and become part of it. That's his biggest challenge and once he realizes that off the field is equally if not more important on the field. That's when he can start to rebuild his career. Yeah no doubt. This is not a rehab for the indianapolis colts. He needs to be aware aware of that as well. And look i wish and hope that carson wentz turns this thing around and has a lot of success. "You. What are your thoughts here on. The carson wentz listening to come and key overpaid underpaid. Who won the tree. There's just so many opinions out there. What's yours i mean my opinion is for carson wentz. This is best case scenario. I mean this time was up in philly. The the philadelphia fans didn't want him and he didn't want the philadelphia eagles anymore so he gets to move on to a place where he wants to go and he never made it public that he wanted to be an indianapolis colts. But this is the best place for him. Is frank reich. A guy that believes in them. You have a very good defense a good run game. Excellent offensive line some young weapons on the outside. But to me this is put up or shut up for carson. Wentz and frank right reich. You're staking your your career on this guy being what he was in two thousand and seventeen when you haven't had him and now if you're carson wentz you're in a perfect situation for yourself to resubmit yourself as one of the top tier quarterbacks in this league and if you don't do it i believe this is his last opportunity as a no brainer starter for any organization ryan. What's your reaction to the eagles having the six pick and potentially targeting a quarterback at the six spot. You know what i think. The eagles would be stupid to be messed up at quarterback again. Right you look at it last year carson. Wentz didn't play well. You drafted a guy in the second round so there were rumblings that people wanted to see him play and then he plays any outplays carson wentz and now you find yourself in this issue. Do you really want the do that. Couldn't read his press statement in his opening. Press conference to start to season the season with a quarterback controversy. And here's the other problem. Let's say. Trevor lawrence and anzac wilson go one two or go one three. And if you're picking where the philadelphia eagles are if you're not in love with the quarterback don't waste your pick. Don't put yourself in another bad position. And listen to you. Look at trae lance you look at justin feels and i know people are going to kind of compare these guys based on color but that's not it. I'm just talking about style of play. We're talking about two quarterbacks that extend plays the same way. that jalen hurts us. Two quarterbacks that can make all the throws but may read things a step through slow if you listen to some of the skull which. I don't believe about justin fields. Which are going to have quarterbacks. That are very similar at at very similar ages competing. And i don't necessarily know if that's the right thing for an organization starting over with the new coach when you have a guy that had some success in jalen hurts. Evaluate him seeing. If he's your quarterback of the future anythi is you don't waste at picking us to get better somewhere else.

"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. Then that draft pick goes from a second round pick in 2022 to a first-round picks. Oh, wow. I like about that. People are saying the Eagles got a horrible trade. They got fleeced. It's terrible. You gotta realize this is probably the best trade they could possibly find the Eagles traded away Carson Wentz a guy who has an injury history has been injured repeatedly over the years. He's coming off of a horrible season where he was so bad the dude got benched for Jalen hurts a rookie quarterback Club. So the fact that Philadelphia made a trade where they have an opportunity to get a first-round pick that's impressive to me. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. They still got home key who Carson Wentz has problems I think is way better than Mitchell trubisky. So debate that all you want. I don't know how you go. Like. Oh the Bears they got a great quarterback still trubisky. I like it. I think another thing people got realize is that I love the trade for Carson Wentz. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. What are your general impressions of nick. Serianni your i feel like It's gonna be hard to judge him early on because first off. He doesn't have head coaching experience. So he's going to be learning on the job and second he's coming into a situation where The idea of molding a quarterback is going to be tough. because he's gotta figure out who's his quarterback and Is this a question of are. Are you fixing the guy that looked like the cornerstone franchise quarterback. Are you putting out fires inside a locker room because of Are we are. We going to have factions inside that locker room that wanna see carson wentz or jalen hurts or there's so many unknowns on who's going to be the starter in september that this guy has to figure out but at the same time he has to figure out his way through the entire locker room so the stuff i've heard from guys that i trust in the nfl Guys that i i. Just show me that The person that they thought they were gonna have wasn't the guy more Things have changed on the quarterback situation. Three out of these four quarterbacks will probably be some of the best quarterbacks to chill ever see in your life. And that's between my homes. That's between Brady and and also Arun Rogers. And you think about the young upstart in Josh Allen. The conversations have already started as to where he fits in. The Buffalo Bills are basically strictly a passing offense. They ain't handing off the ball and anybody you know Moss is now injured. You can take a look. It's Singletary. He's not a world beater. The Buffalo Bills want to beat you in the air. Josh Allen has done an amazing job at it. So when you think about these four quarterbacks who are playing These are stars. He's a pro bowlers. This is no accidental. I barely got into the playoffs or the defense helped me get there. This ain't Jared Goff. We'll talk about Jared Goff later on in the show. These are Hall of Fame type quarterbacks. Three out of the four we know are going into the Hall of Fame. My homes will go into the Hall of Fame unless God forbid he is. His injuries or his career was cut short due to injuries, and Josh Allen, quite frankly, he started the ball out of his mind. Let's see what his career Turns into and so that has moved into questions about pressure. As we start to wrap up media availability with the quarterbacks here, heading to the championship games, local media has started to ask them. How do you feel heading into this game? We know the ramifications. We know a chance at the Super Bowl is on the line. How do you feel? What do you sharing with your teammates? Aaron Rodgers. This guy's getting ready to pick up another M v P. He's won a Super Bowl. Tom Brady. He has six. The most accomplished quarterback of all time. He's going for seven. Think about Patrick my homes. M V P. Super Bowl M v P Comeback kid. He's starting to further establish his legacy early on in his career. He's kind of been there, and he's done that and we know he's damn good. We just want to see how many times he could do it. So Alan Rogers, someone who went into the season thinking about how many years he was gonna have left in Green Bay. Here he is at the end of the season on the cusp. Of an M V P On the cusp of another Super Bowl title. And pretty much silencing folks and putting toe you know, t. I don't want to say to shame. But almost saying Hey, does God Jordan love You may not see him for a while. And so Alan Rogers, he was pretty much asked one of the questions. If he's looking at this as his last and best chance to win one more Super Bowl, listen. I'm always just trying to stay president, especially this year as much as anything and just Enjoy the moment and I hope there's more opportunities, but I don't know. I mean, I really don't know that stuff that in my control. My future is a beautiful mystery. I think The president is such a gift. Just be able to stay in the moment and to have gratitude for being in situation again and being with the guys and having fans with our stadium and maybe snow NFC Championship game. And, Yeah, I wouldn't be mad if he approached this game one Sunday like he approached or approaches any other game because this year he finished with 4300 yards passing 48 touchdowns, five interceptions.
