"I was feeling a little down on my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to a birthday drink, and the barista, she was so nice, she helped me pick out my drink. And then when I rolled up to the drive-through window, she had called over a few other baristas to sing happy birthday to me. It was such a surprise. And a sweet little moment of kindness, right when I needed it the most. My great reminder that a little kindness is never really little. This is America in the morning. It's 26 after. More than 30,000 power customers in Austin, Texas are still in the dark after an ice storm on Wednesday tour through parts of the lone star state. Austin energy announced yesterday they have restored power to over 100,000 customers after the storm caused what they described as a hurricane like devastation, but have no timetable as to when the last 30,000 will see their lights back on. The ice event brought down a number of utility poles, wires, and also caused trees to topple. For those without power, the storm reminds many of the mass Texas grid failure in 2021, which left 4 million power customers without electricity and water and an estimated 200 people died

"House explosion that killed three people in southern Indiana has been ruled an accident. Fire officials say they traced the Evansville blast to a leaking natural gas line in the home's basement. The Indiana state fire marshal said its joint investigation with the Evansville fire department into the August 10th explosion determined the line was found uncapped with a valve in the open position. In a news release, officials add no additional evidence was found to determine how the valve was opened. However, there is no indication of foul play. A married couple was killed when their house exploded, and a neighbor also died. The explosion damaged 39 homes, leaving 11 of them uninhabitable. "A suspect has been charged in the Delphi murders of two girls. What to know about the years long hunt for justice by solberga. Police have arrested a suspect in the brutal 2017 killings of two 8th grade girls from Delphi Indiana, the first major break in a case that has captivated national attention for nearly 6 years. The case is perhaps best known for the fact that the girls, Abigail, Abby Williams, age 13, and liberty, Libby, German, age 14, documented the final moments before they were killed near a hiking trail in the town of 3000 people. On October 26th, detectives took 50 year old Richard M Allen, a local Delphi resident into custody at the Indiana state police Lafayette post. Allan was formally charged with murdering Abbey and Libby, on October 28th. Today is not a day to celebrate. Indiana state police superintendent Doug Carter said on Monday. But the arrest of Richard M Allen of Delphi on two counts of murder is sure a major step in leading to the conclusion of this long-term and complex investigation. Here's what to know about the case, and the hunt for the killer. Abby and Libby were dropped off near manon high bridge and Delphi, which is about 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis on February 13th, 2017 at around 1 p.m.. The girls had arranged to be picked up by a relative at a designated time, but did not show up. Police were called about the missing girls about 5 30 p.m.. Family members and police began to search the area, but could not locate either child. Carol county sheriff, Toby lizenby, initially told Indianapolis TV station WR TV that he was not concerned that the girls were in imminent danger. However, about 1215 p.m. the next day authorities located two bodies near deer creek, about a half mile upstream from the bridge, where they were last seen. On February 15th, police shared a photograph of a suspect wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a hoodie, hoping someone from the community could identify the suspect. Officials have never disclosed information on the girl's cause of death, or provided other details commonly released in murder cases. They have repeatedly cited the need to keep details secret in an effort not to compromise the investigation. And despite this arrest, the investigation is still ongoing, police said. Tip lines are open for information about Allen and any other person. Carter told the press. Not much is known about Abby and Libby's final moments. Though authorities know the girls were last walking across an old railroad bridge at two O 7 p.m.

"Oh i got. I think i did this day or two later. We had out to the house. And i was needing to get close to bury my family and and i had conversation with some of the police officers there and they were just they were very standoff ish and i could just tell there's something something different about the way they were interacting with me and that's things really start going wrong. David camps family was found murdered on a thursday evening before the weekend was over. The indiana state police had already zeroed in on david as the primary suspect. They call him into the station for the second time. The second interview. That was on sunday which was three days later. That was an interrogation. There's a definite difference between being interviewed being interrogated these two detectives who had known for years hyde working side by side with would have given my life for sitting there telling me that they have this world renowned expert. Who is telling them that. I have the stains on my shirt. Had you known that they had brought in this blood expert had no idea. I didn't know. I thought we were just going to go over. The details of you know events of that day and that night and and so on. So what exactly did they say when it came to the blood. Splatter on you. It was something like you know. Dave collected your clothes and the prosecutors brought in this expert and we got to tell you he's the guy. They said he didn't just start doing this yesterday. And he's looked at your clothes and he has something called. I s on your shirt. You know what that is. no. I don't this well. It's these little spots that will get on your shirt you're in close proximity to a shooting. He says you therefore you had been present when you're when your family was killed. Now come on. Tell us what happened. Did y'all have a fine. did this happen. did that happen. It was just such manipulative bullshit. And i i mean right. Then and there i looked dead in the i i was angry and i said you're wrong. You're experts wrong. I said it repeatedly and very vehemently. You're wrong. I don't care you're experts wrong. You need to get another expert but they totally dismissed. That a probable cause affidavit was constructed. Signed by kid who you know was a detective. At the time. I helped get on the department when he was young and arrested me. David cam taken into custody and charged with the murder of his wife and children. Here's his defense attorney. Stacey yuliana it gave police a simple answer to a complex question really quickly in once they decided that blood splatter was the evidence in why david came was guilty was because of that blood better nothing else matter as far as the analysis of the blood evidence. What was his explanation for the aid. Specks of blood on the lower part of the seizure he said it's what's called high velocity impacts batter. so there's this the basis of a lot of bloodstain pattern. Interpretation is that a skilled person can tell the difference of how blood got on fabric or a piece of wood so they can tell you whether it came from a gunshot in it flew through the air or whether it came from a knife or whether somebody just rubbed up against something so rob site said he could tell by looking at those eight any stains that they had to have come from gunshot. What was the police theory about. How david perpetrated this crime. The state's theory then became that dave played basketball went to basketball. Around seven o'clock played a few games sat out a game snuck out went home murdered. His family came back and played more basketball and not one of the eleven basketball player there with them noticed. Any blood on them solemn. Leaving solid coming back or even missed mister medal in two thousand and two about a year and a half. After his family's murder david's case would finally go to court. So what did you think you're saving grace was going to be at the trial love and basketball players. The basketball players. I was at the gym. I was playing basketball. And you got these ten eleven other guys. They're county one observer. Who are saying. They've never left. The gym was with us. Dave and i were joking. They're saying you know that. I was there with them and did these eleven basketball players testify. Yes they did. Much david's dismay prosecutors would immediately cast doubt on the basketball players recollections of that evening you probably ball player sports for the last time. You play ball. Can you remember who you guarded and second gain do you remember. How many points did you score in that first game. Do you remember who scored the first basket. So those those types of questions that The prosecutor stand faith was asking the basketball players to try and undermine the credibility is just impossible. Things dancer especially with the gravity of the magnitude of everything that happened. The lawyers for the state introduce what turns out to be a series of credible allegations of david's adultery. So they dug into my past is was no big secret. I had indiscretions you know. It was very disrespectful to my wife More than one occasion during the course of marriage is what it is. They brought these women multiple in to testify. We objected vehemently to that. We argued it's in a miserable and again you know. Judge did with judges do.

"And and that's just really. I mean the the quality of that. I think struck me more than anything else. That's just really incredible well. It speaks to our sponsorship department. May've worked really hard to reach their goal and we reached our goal this year which is amazing considering how challenging it it is it go out and and seek sponsors during this environment but we we met our goal in and actually exceeded a bit so that allows us to put on this great programming and allow you know guests to have a value added experience. I mean when he thinks that you see the beach for thirteen dollars or less no pretty amazing that it is now kind of at the beginning. We touched on fair food. Just a little bit. I think you said there were twenty. Three new fare foods being introduced to the indiana state fair this year. And let's be honest. The bear food is something. I think that the rise a lot of people it's like your annual corn dog right So let's let's chat a little bit about the types of food. You're gonna find it in the indian state fair because as a midwestern state. Obviously a lot of this food is going to be local and fresh. Just really really good thanks. Can people expect to take so. Our research has shown for years and years that the food is the number one reason that people come to the great indiana state fair so people can expect the traditional favorites like you mentioned the corn dogs elephant ears. Funnel cakes buttered corn roy. Do we saw a lot of butter. Buttered corn all the candy etc But this year We again once again. Have the taste of fair competition. Which were looking for kind of zany wacky new Fair food items to really kind of tent people's taste buds. Get them out of their comfort zone. A little bit It's a people's choice award competition. So folks are encouraged to vote on their favorites They can do that by scanning. Qr code at each of the participating concession stands or we've got information booths located around the grounds and they can vote on a ballot there But yet twenty three different items We have our first all vegan Concession stand so no soy gluten free Completely vegan brought as being kind of showcased in the in the taste of the fair competition loaded with veggies Haven't sampled it yet..

"Exploring the midwest. My name is jody. I will be your guide as we chat with incredible people across the thirteen midwestern states and discover all the amazing things. There are to see and do. I hope you enjoy our summer topics. And invite you to reach out to me at any time with topic ideas or destinations attractions or even people that you think i should know about. You can click through the show notes and leave a comment or connect with me on instagram facebook or twitter at jodi halstead. I everyone we are continuing our state fair season with the midwest for that actually runs for the longest amount of time in the summer. Now the indiana state fair takes place this year from july thirtieth to august twenty second. And that's a grand total of eighteen days. Which is a week longer than most state fairs my guest. Sharon smith is the director of communications for the indiana state. Fairgrounds and event center. And she's going to share a little bit about the indiana state fair with us. We'll talk about some history highlights and hopefully get a few insider tips to help you make the most of your visit sharon. Thank you so much for joining me today. Thank you for having me jody. So the indiana state fair. Is you know it's kind of that contamination of the year right where things are are starting to wind down from summer and we're ready to flow into the fall but the thing that i noticed when i was doing my state research is that the indiana state spare lasts a good week longer than most other state fairs in the mid west and i thought that was a really interesting. Is there a reason for that. Well for the past few years. We've been a seventeen day fair. We have increased it to eighteen days. So it's not that much longer. Because we are closed mondays and tuesdays. This is a new fare format for us this year We added an extra weekend on the front end of our schedule and that was purposefully. We wanted to kind of spread out attendance and we know that people are most likely to attend Over the course of a long weekend so we added that we can For guests to enhance their experience. It also allows us to kind of refresh the campus on mondays and tuesdays at some new programming turnover. And just keep everything fresh and exciting. Some folks can come back and.

"The chief medical officer for the Indiana State Department of Health. Just under 500,000 Hoosiers have received the vaccine so far in about another 200,000 Hoosiers of appointments. Scheduled That's good. Feels like we're doing things pretty well. In terms of vaccine rollouts. Some states have been a disaster. Indiana's actually been pretty good. Now. Those air ages, you know 70 to 87 above. Um Dr Weaver saying that, um, she expects People in the age range of 65 to 70 in the next week or so, to start, so only 70 above. Right Now you get the vaccine, she saying and their spin some frustration here because people are able to get some people aren't able to get appointments for the vaccine until March. But she says Ho, she hopes to expand people Theeighties between 65 70. Next week, so 65 above. I guess that's good 65 above. Now. Tony brought up a good point this morning on his program. I hope that Governor Eric Holcomb stay strong and keeps all the vaccine in Indiana because we've been doing things right. We've been doing things pretty well. You'll get some of these states where they don't have enough for the second round, or they've Screwed up. They've had to throw some away or whatever. Keep all that here. Don't give it to another state because we're doing things right. Don't penalize the folks in Indiana. Just keep it in this state. Let's keep rolling this thing out. Now we've been talking about Johnson and Johnson for a long time. They are very close to throwing out the results of their trials for Phase three next week. Actually, Johnson and Johnson They plan to give us the results of all the trial that they've done for Phase three, and if things go well, Johnson and Johnson will become the third company to have a vaccine on the market. And here's what's the big deal is because it's only one shot. The Madonna and the Fizer are both. You gotta go in for a shot. And then, like, two weeks later, gotta go in for a second, like booster And you have to freeze those to the Johnson. Just a friend, at least the fives or one of the least you gotta put like sub zero. Like a frigid Siberian type temperatures to store those puppies. Oh, flip flopping. Fauci says that Johnson and Johnson could get approval in two weeks or less. If they're phase three. Trial results are good, and we're expecting to get those results sometime next week and again. This is one you can just put in the fridge, not a freezer, and it's only one shot. For this next update Producer Kurt I'm gonna need a little mood music here really? Antibody cocktail 70%, effective at preventing complications from covert 19 also is different than a vaccine. Right. This is the antibody cocktail. Oh, cool, Okay. And right now they're numbers show that this is 70% effective at preventing complications from Cove it now it's It's not a vaccine. How To Build Wealth and Personal Freedom Fast with Andrew "Cobra" Tate

"To my understanding that you come from across the continents you're born in the United States grew up in England. You've been involved in chess from an early age, your world champion, kickboxer, and an entrepreneur in a number of very businesses. Do I have most of that? Pretty well, right. That's yeah. That's pretty much. Exactly correct. Yeah. Very businesses this and that, but they're all doing. Okay. So love to know a little bit more about your personal background I've invited you on the show to talk about wealth building and the tagline of radical personal finances that dual fold mandate of living well today while also building applying for financial freedom and I've observed that you seem to do both those things fairly well, you have a lifestyle that's intensely focused on freedom, but you've also done a pretty good job of living well today I see posts all over social media view supercars and and your girlfriends and. Traveling around the world with your boys. So how did you wind up? Where did you start and how did you wind up today? Tell us a little bit about your journey with wealth. Yes. So I am one of those people who always really wanted to be rich and I didn't want to be rich because of material things I've always been one of the people who didn't like listening to the rules I was always attracted to freedom and I learned at early age that freedom usually comes with money I mean shirl there's some rich people who are constrained by their money but if you do things right, you get the freedom. Money can certainly by a degree of freedom. So I was not raised in a rich family. My family was actually much more on the poor rent. So when they got the forest and social housing in the UK, my father was a professional chess player which doesn't pay much money at all. So I'm not from any kind of financial. Hereditary. There's no I didn't get any Any money within the family members died I wasn't taught anything about money from a young age. I was just always attracted to freedom. Delta's very attracted to for a long time. So I always wanted to be rich for as long as I can remember even though even though like most poor kids kind of sit and think all I want to be rich, I'll never be able to or whatever. I was one of those poor kids now goes okay. There's there's obviously a way to do it, and that's how I get a life full of freedom. So I'm going to find a way to do it so I was always motivated to have it. And that's it. Yeah and then I, I was fighting for a long time that never paid the bills. So I mean it paid the bills but never made me rich. So I had to start thinking of other things and you know one thing leads to another beer I am. So trace the journey with regard to wealth over with regard to your career your business. From my research sounds like you've been involved in a number of different things but your parents divorced when you were young moved into social housing with your mother and your siblings but then something happened whereas now you're traveling the world driving supercars living in a mansion in Romania Cetera. What was that pass through business for you? Okay. So by my financial story is quite short, really I went to. I. I was unhappy with school and the reason for this is pretty simple when I was growing up in America my parents are still together because I moving when they divorced when I was growing up in America, I was moved up three grades and I was playing a lot of my father was a chess grandmaster. I was on track to be chess grandmaster. I was playing chess scholastically with. The schools and I was Indiana state chess champ h five and doing chess. So when they split up my mother who's originally originally English, want to go back to her family in England I came to England and there was no chess in the schools. The British system is less ruthless than the American system. They don't like moving people upgrades they don't like you know really segment people by. It's far more of socialist. I guess you know we're all the same and I found school I found very, very boring. So I didn't try very hard. So by the time I graduated from school is sixteen my attendance rate had dropped to twenty, twenty, five percent average and the reason for that was simple. If I saw someone up to the gas station and Lamborghini. I didn't sit there and think he worked really hard school. I sat there and call he is either a drug dealer or he's broken the rules or there's some hack here he's pack the Matrix everyone goes to school has a Lamborghini. So to me school was absolutely a waste of time. That's what I believe to be. So I stopped going basically. I passed all my. Season B.'s even though I only twenty five percent attendance and my father were very mad and and even my teachers like you're capable of so much more you could have easily gone a but because you didn't come get it up. So I decided to go to college and try really hard to prove a point. So I went to college afterwards I studied business I studied. The four hardest a-levels is called New Kias physics math. Political. Science and. Business degree. I start studying them all and I did so well, it all of them that even though there was eight exams by my sixth exam by the time, it was over I already had as inevitable subject. So then they gave me some other advanced testing which I did very well, and and I offered a scholarship to university university in England. Much chimerical cost money if think big loan, etc etc.. So I was offered the scholarship to a business university and I came home told my mother and then tomorrow wasn't though So she she went crazy. She was like what? This is one hundred, thousand euros a free education. What are you going to do? What do you mean? You'RE NOT GONNA. Go you already messed up school and now you did so well in college and you're GonNa go what you do instead and I said I'm going to become a kickboxing world champion.

Pesticide Police, Overwhelmed By Dicamba Complaints, Ask EPA For Help

"In some of the big farming states officials have become overwhelmed by complaints about a weed killer that farmers are using.
