"We offer pro tips for the perfect burrito from Cali burrito himself. They say San Diego is the burrito capital of the world. Now we may not claim the first ever burrito, but in national rankings, we roll straight up to the top. What other states? What other cities you go to that has a 24 hour taco shop? Nowhere. Nowhere. So yeah, we are. Perez is a DJ for iHeartRadio. On a TV guy on Fox 5 and a real connoisseur. Everybody's gotta be something different. So you get the regrets outside the green sunset, right? So each bite, you pour south side into it. You don't open up the burrito and pour this out. No, you gotta do bite by bite. Now our region's burrito culture is based on two Staples. First, carne asada, its marinated beets. And the cow that what would you call it? In Spanish, and we said, I don't know what they're called. Butchers? Yeah, so the butchers would throw that meat out. The cheaper meat. Yeah. But now it's most craved. That toss imperial beach made the tenderizing process famous. Our other claim to fame is the Cali burrito, which can get confused with the mission, it layers everything, including beans and rice. But a Cali burrito swaps that out and goes straight for the starch. French fries. It's a San Diego thing for sure. And I will give credit to the tu taco shops that I grew up knowing that had these burritos before anybody else. Armando's taco shop on palm avenue and I'm gonna go with Victoria's encore avenue. The experts tell us, the oldest historical mention of burrito appears in the so called dictionary of Mexican isms in 1895. In Spanish, Frito means little donkey, so it's possible the term refers to the packs and bedrooms donkeys once carried, and stuff stuffed in a tortilla, first became popular in Vanuatu and Guerrero. Their OG burrito simply held meat and beans, the modern burritos originated near Fresno and Stockton. LA's el cholo Spanish cafe

"The first one where we were like, nah, so I like that. All right, hopefully I get to disagree with one. Mine are me too, is another island. A pretty big one that I have been wanting to go to and that is Crete in Greece. Because I think that it's big enough that there would be a lot going on. You could see so much and wouldn't have to even leave that island, or some of the other Greek islands are much smaller. And I think that it would get, you know, if we were on one of those smaller islands for two months, it might get a little bit monotonous. I mean, not if it was, again, just you and me and all we could do was work and relax. I mean, most of our thoughts are coming like, what are we going to do with the kids? And again, this changes to if you go somewhere where you know people and we would meet the other thing is we would meet people. We went to Costa Rica. We didn't know anyone and we met this other family. And that just changed our entire perspective and we've hung out with them since. So that's good. I think it also depends if we're bringing people, like if other people come in with us, like my parents or your sister, kind of these other people that we tend to travel with at various points. That changes the whole tenor of a trip because, a, it gives you an eye a little bit more freedom because they can watch kids here and there. But also it's just someone else to talk to besides just the four of us, you know, because when you have kids, you're not going out and necessarily meeting people like out and about, you're not just relaxing at the beach and making friends or going out to a bar or a restaurant and making friends because you're just, you know, you're spending all this wonderful quality time with your children, so you're occupied by that. So it's definitely a different type of trip. So I do think any of these places could also work obviously if you don't have kids and you are either a single person or a couple who is traveling together, all these places would work. But for us specifically, anyway, Crete, I just think it would be gorgeous, beautiful, lots of beaches, some towns that you could go. Like I said before. I'm glad you came. I'm glad you picked the island because island places, 'cause I wanted to, but just I wasn't brave enough to pick them. I misspoke before I said imperial beach when I was talking to San Diego, that's the one down south. I just looked at the map. And I wanted to say ocean beach, but I felt dumb saying it because I'm like, that's not the name of that area. It is ocean beach is kind of where I'd want to be in San Diego. Just FY. We're not experts on all these areas that we talk about. So if we misspeak, give us a little grace, but we will try to correct ourselves when we realize we are wrong. All right, you're.

"Three. Okay, which is Majorca in Spain. Okay. Now, I don't know if there's a ton of digital nomads in Majorca. But we were there before. We absolutely loved it. The city of Palma is pretty nice. Like you could get anything you need there. I feel like even if you stayed close to there or in the city for a little bit of the time you were there, it's enough to give you, even though it's an island that's enough to give you some type of, you know, things happening going on. Some of the other towns that maybe you would stay in outside of the main city are very quiet. They're a little bit sleepy. So I'm not sure if the kids would meet a bunch of other kids around, but if it was in like a summer season, I think they could. Plus, there's lots of family resorts. There we know because we stayed at one, so if we just simply stayed at a family resort, the whole two months. That's a lot of buffet dinners. A lot of broken plates from kids throwing on the floor. No, I wouldn't want to do a buffet dinner every single night. But there is something to be said about having some conveniences done for you. So yeah, I just have always ever since we went there when it was 7 months old. I have wanted to go back and explore the island more and I'm glad you picked an island because as I wanted to put an island on my list. Oh, I've got another one too. And I'm walking through here. Well, okay, I mean, do I have things that are technically islands, I guess, yes. But I wanted to put something like that, like a smaller island to say, oh, we lived here for two months. Romantic notion of, we're going way to a tropical island. I mean, Hawaii, you already mentioned. And I just couldn't narrow down which one I thought would be best with our current situation. So I didn't put any of them on. My number three is the easiest one for sure. Okay. It's the only one that I have in the U.S. and that is San Diego. Really? I just thought, nah, I don't think I would want to do two months in San Diego. Oh, see, for me, I thought, okay, we live here on the east coast. We like it. We're by the ocean. I've always been drawn to the West Coast. Again, I don't need to live there full time because fans and family and stuff from the east coast and we're here at the beach. But I enjoyed San Diego. Now granted, you were in San Diego and you had a you were sick for the whole season. It was like ten months, ten weeks, sorry, ten weeks. No, I was just in the beginning stages. So you didn't do that. I didn't drink anything fun, you know? Just water and Ginger ale. Yeah, I don't know. I'm sorry to everybody who loves San Diego. I just didn't love it. It was just like so, so about it. And I'm not saying I wouldn't spend two months in another area of California like maybe Santa Barbara area or maybe wine country area, not necessarily Napa, but snow Mars somewhere along the coast up there. Yes, that's more my lab. For me, I just, I think San Diego would be cool. There's a lot to do. Fair enough. It's your list. Talk about a manageable city, right? I wouldn't be downtown. I'd be in one of the little areas right on the coast and just wait, see the sunset every night, go swimming, hang out, then go into town. I really liked San Diego. I think two months there would be a great perfect amount. And maybe one of the beach towns north of San Diego. No, I want to be down in San Diego. Just not in the downtown quarter, but what is it oceanside, I think, is one. And things like that. But maybe not Pacific beach, specifically. But where you're in San Diego, not in Encinitas, although entropy is just fine, but you are in San Diego, but you're not. Okay. Right there. Well, I'm not saying I wouldn't do it. Imperial beach is what I was thinking. Okay. Imperial beach. Somewhere like that. All right. All right. Maybe? Hey, no, it's cool to disagree. I mean, that's kind of the first one where we were like, nah, so I like that. All right, hopefully I get to disagree with one. Mine are me too, is another island..

It was the beginning of that horrible thing where people sued if they had an accident fell down the Coyote stuffing the five kids in the trunk and getting them in getting in for free. Your dad had to be able to sniff that stuff out. A mile away did did he feels and not on the ground. Because so many people there sparks coming off the rear bumper car and yeah the snack. Shack was always a thrill the head from the car to the snack shack. I don't know why when you're in a movie theater going from your seat to the snack bars a pain in the ass argument with your y camman. Googlers got him last time. Jesus christ why do i gotta do go into the snack shack. Somehow i just walking four miles four miles from your car. Yeah no complaints at all yet in the movie theater. It's one hundred feet and it's nothing but bitching moaning but walking past all the other families or maybe you get lucky and catch a little porno also. Also people not have places to have sex in the sixties in the seventies at home gas. Yes not at the we had. We had a drive in theater. Like really close to our house in albuquerque. And i remember walking there with my big comb. You know. and my hair's all feathered and getting my ass whipped by some hasher like. That's what i that's my main like memories like guy with a pencil moustache just take me to school. Go somewhere to have sex in the day like my son. I'm sure when he's sixteen just going to go eight dad. Could you clear out the bang. My old lady for a while. You're bad cheers five dollars. Yeah go down star itself. Three pack of mickey's and drink at the park. Which there but landing on your bed but but now then it was like oh you got sneak off here. You gotta go. Gotta go to lover's lane by your lady and many pizza you gotta by many seats were yeah so bigger to you know. The that seat was a was a was a comfortable place to get busy. And i i do it. I like the commitment of people. That's true lane. No you the and if you could you wouldn't want that check. You know what i mean. That's that's a dwarf under four. Yes even be honest spinner the fbi and spin on the next play. So so i always like to. The is were super committed to the drive. In like the corollas maybe went to the drive in once or twice and was it was haphazard. We're almost caught off guard like who's got a blanket. I don't know why it's freezing. Well shouldn't somebody f- the cars parked sideways. Dan either parker forward or backwards. We can't see announced this the show up the chairs get folded out. The hammock comes out that come out power machine fool ground. Who'll tv to satellite. These people are are cagey veteran is wrong heads. You dad does that and you follow him. You started acting long before that right. Yeah i mean not not too long before that i guess about five years i did film called birdie birdie. I worked with robert men movie called. streamers vision quest with harold. Becker that sure vision vision quest and everyone loves vision. Quest madonna song ships. You tired or you go back. And you look at it you go. Oh i can't believe i was recommending this you're recommending masturbating folk. I would be the ultimate recommendations up. Linda fiorentino and not me and my retired officer has gone rogue one way or another also remember movie called. Was it wind wind. Yeah it was like a movie by competitive sailing. I was it was weird. Strange call but It worked it was one of those great movie to make. Somebody needs to make a movie about the world. The fast paced world slow sailing and they did Was really interesting. Moving away the ships were created. And all that all that kind of stuff and it must have been a. What's been a blast. Shoot that movie. Unbelievable we started in australia in perth. Fremantle and then. We came up to new england and sailed in rhode island. And then the the problem. W- the reason we ended up in hawaii was that there was no win to sail in australia. They were starting to already start to experience those effects of global warming and so they call the fremantle doctor that austrailia heated up landmass. We heat up and pull all that. Arctic air up from the south and it wasn't happening that they said you know the old timers said you could set your clock by the fremantle doctor that by noon as the land mass heated up and it pulled that cold air it was like opening the refrigerator door and everybody was so happy when that cold air would come up and you could catch that and go sailing but it wasn't happening a everything was all screwy and wacky and we spent two months in australia just sitting out in the water with with no wind. And you can imagine you can imagine the cost to the production company so we finished up in australia. Which was unbelievable because you get a swell and the boats going through come crashing down and you know it's funny when you hear about like the old timer. Say or the old timers who tell you i don. I feel like when. I become old timer. I'm not going to have anything to offer like i'm going to. I'm going to be like well. You know if you hit the tivo remote if you go forward three times in a row the four-time it'll kick you back fifteen seconds. Thank you grandpa corolla. Yeah that's it that's all. I got for my grandmother and her last day. She was listening to donohoe on eight track. Still you know she wouldn't let go of the technology and that's what she was like. She was like these are great. They'll click in the middle. But also i don't think any man on the moon you'd be able to talk to when the internet started. Yeah but you know you're going to hear a lot like i'm going to be like let me tell you about life before cell phones. Shut up man. You're blocking the set. Playing grand theft carjack five. Get your ass out of the way. I don't think anyone wants to hear from the elders anymore. I think that's the old go. Get some botox old guy freaking me out but my last days with my grandmother. She was one hundred and four really. Yeah and i'd go there and our interaction together was they would have a day where somebody brought crispy creams and i'd feed her like a turtle and then she looked at me and she kind of get confused and then she'd tell me to leave and then she called me back and it's nice it's nice. It's kind of nice though you know. I have a grandmother. Who's ninety six. And i have twins that are three and i can have a conversation with with all of them and not really pay attention and they don't know i'm not i'm on ebay looking car parts. And i'm having a conversation with my son. And he never goes what the icon fucking talking to grandma. And it's the same way it's like you know skew the thing you can look at your watch do a little. You can do little twitter tax. You know the only problem with the older ones. You gotta be careful. Because i remember like i was wearing a fishing hat when i visited her and left it and then she spent like the next two months thinking that my grandfather was picking up for vacation every now and then you've got to be careful because you know when they get in the loop they get in the loop and then also every once in a while they have little snap of lucidity and like. I like talking to my grandma's That's like looking other places thinking about are things and she goes. Hey are you tired. And i go. No and i'm like back for a second because they could see me from their own. It'll locked in for a minute so you so so so matthew but you started early as well. I mean not movies but you started doing theater and things like that do commercials that that kind of thing started when i was in in Junior high school. I mean when. I was really young i was like fifth grade and i saw a documentary about the making of of oliver and my dad was driving theater. Managing we were moving a lot. And i sort of felt like identified with that boy in oliver. I'd dancing singing right but but Because i think because we're moving because they were tearing the drive ins down so we moved. I was born here in california at loma linda and then we moved to imperial beach. We had to drive in there then. He got transferred to utah. And we had about fifteen drive ins. And i thought my dad was kind of this re rehabilitator of driving because he'd come in and put all seven of the kids to work in the snack bar in the box office. Picking up garbage cleaning the toilets and we'd move and and in the next driving would be kind of a shithole and we'd go to work fixing it up and what. My dad just fixed drive-ins up because he liked to have nice but what was happening was we weren't moving because he was moving on to fix another one. We were moving because they were tearing the one behind us down. Turn it into a grand central or shopping development. You know well whenever when they start having swap meets it whatever place you're working at on during the daylight hours that's always a harbinger of bad of doom. You know what. I mean when someone goes i got a nice business. Go just like a swap me just just just during the daylight hours just one sunday out of the month. Eventually they're taking over at the swap meets the beginning of the end swap. Meet some parking. Yeah which use your place for parking for our successful business because we've got too many cars patrons at our place or your place to we know mummies have stumbled out here. We're going to crazy business in that we need to acres and acres of real estate tons of concrete and tons of equipment and we can only be open in the evenings. Obviously it's gotta be it's gotta be dark and then it just seemed like some that was doomed from the beginning but that's how cheap real estate was back in the day and there i used to go to one out here in van is i mean. Individuals probably surrounded by orange groves right. Yeah yeah and and they. And they they'd have the swing set the play-set up front like under the screen time commonly out for all these things. Yeah they pulled those up. That was that was the the beginning of the end as well because some kid fell down on a remember that you try to get it going as fast as you couldn't hold on and not vomit and somebody fell off and knock different teeth out and they suit right. Who would replace Kamala Harris as California Senator?
"We still have 12 weeks before the November election, Voters will decide between President Trump on my vice President Mike Pence against former Vice President Joe Biden and current Democratic vice presidential nominee California Senator Kamala Harris. But in Harris are victorious. Governor Newsome will have to appoint a new senator to serve the next two years here in California, and well, there's been early speculation on names like State Attorney General Javier Becerra and San Diego State Senator Toni Atkins. Another elected officials told the governor he's interested. Mayor of Imperial Beach Search, the DEA sent a note to the governor with a picture of him in a business suit with a surfboard and water, nothing his intention to seek the appointments If the Democrats win because Pamela Harris may become our next vice president, I notified Governor Newsome like everyone does not is via Twitter that I'd like to be on the collection left to be the next U. S. Senator put out Open seat. And I think it's important to have someone who's not from the insider circle in Sacramento on someone that's ready to help clean up California and fight for our planet and our ocean from day one. Well and yes, I think it was the announcement that color base attention picture of you in a business suit with your surfboard. Right. The water's edge. Kind of embodying what it means to be from Imperial Beach. Yeah, you know, and you're a bitch, maybe small. What? We're mighty, You know, I've seen the names of some of the more high profile candidates and you know the reality of California's in trouble countries in trouble, And so we need someone who's used to doing things without a lot of resource is gonna support. You could get things done quickly, and that's experience. I've had thereby be in that experience that we need for the next senator from California and as the native Senate, California someone who rested 500 California the lifeguard for the state and for the city of Baby, I'm ready for the job and just look forward to being considered by Governor Newsome. Well, obviously you've worked with the governor, and in fact, you've worked as high as going to the White House when it comes to the sewage issue along the border, with the issues coming out of Mexico to impact San Diego County Imperial Beach, the city of San Diego. Everywhere else here with its impact that profile of yours with that fight has gone to the highest level. Yeah, so you know, unfortunately, because sewage issue is continuing to happen. I ve had to reach out from everybody from the president of Mexico, too. You know, President Trump We've met Got Governor knew someone. The governor of Baja California. So yeah, felt the times were like more like an international diplomat rather than a mare. But that is good practice good experience for what it takes to be an effective senator. To give you credit. Since the minute she was in office, she has support our first queen of the border. She's put a lot of attention on period Beach. In fact, her California director came to Imperial Beach to visit her stop is in very involved in this issue, so she's been great on the tissue as well as Senator Feinstein, but it's time for a new direction and and that's what I'm putting My My name in the hat or handed the ring And you know there is a perception out there at some points where you know, San Diego geographically being where it is. So we feel that the state of times may forget about us or things like that. You know, putting San Diego right back up there and kind of raising our hand and saying, Hey, what about us? Yeah, you know, Right now we have two senators from Northern California from the Bay area, So obviously we need a lot more Southern California repetition and the fact that Southern California needs a lot of help. We've seen that during this covert Christ of some of the highest rates, obviously in the country in Southern California, especially here in South San Diego and along the border, So we're in trouble have the highest rate of unemployment in the state along the borderlands question. Imperial County so We're in trouble. We need to get someone to replace Senator Harris. She gets elected vice president who's fighting for California and every California and not just the ones who can write campaign checks, right? I think that's important to make sure that someone who works for every California In every corner of state and every family and put families and kids first for California
