"I by way of learning and then like i just mentioned you know being a part of a community where you have some folks that are out shooting what you know you shoot of like what i do and maybe we should link up some time and i'm a straight ahead shooter. I've always been like that kind of like you. You've got your on the nose and sometimes to my detriment too much on the news So it was really great for me to see other people's perspectives. Like i would go home. And i feel like i got the shot and i'd go through my pictures and that's thirty shots of the same frame and then i would see my friends posting stuff up and it would be completely different angles and perspectives. And so i was like oh my gosh. that's amazing. I can't believe that was there. And i just i'm i was just my feet. Were firmly planted to wherever i was without any thought of anything other than that That that straight on shot and so that helped me to expand my perspective and and vision of the world In regards photography. Just because i would still go and get my one shot but once once i got the shot i would. I would leave my camera. And i would kind of walk down the line to see what's everybody doing. Wise he down there. What's this providing and so slowly but surely own perspective started to expand The eh really is it really add. That's that's that it's like you know. I'm from an earlier generation than you right. So back in my. When i was learning photography there was no such thing as community right. There was no such thing as it was. You know you you get the shot and we're shooting film right so you get the shot. You process it toil over it in the dark room and you now you have your photo and then maybe a couple of people will see it right because there is no there was no. We have a global community. Now whether it's you know whatever social media flavor you in a scribe too but we have a global community of of of people that look at work. I think the cool thing about that for new photographers or for people that are wanting to get better at their craft or even a different genre. Is you got a bunch of people that can give you feedback. It's like back then. I didn't understand the importance of these boring camera clubs right. Why would i go to a camera club and talk about you know it now. I understand you go because you want feedback so that you can. You can get better right. Yeah yeah absolutely yeah. It's so important. And i think that it's so interesting because we think that we we know it all sometimes in the moment And then you realize how little you really know So they're a touch a healthy touch of humility Help the learning process Be much more about the discovery and the expansion of what you know as opposed to Criticism that isn't received as constructive or helpful All in your again. It's it's all about perspective So for tonight's Ready and willing to see. Other perspectives and expands. How we're seeing something. Chances are there's not going to be a whole lot of growth especially from especially from non photographers. I think because you can show non photographer a mediocre shot. And they may not know what's good and bad with. Oh hey it's in focus. The i like the colors that's a. It's a great shot. You're great you should do this for a living ball right but if you feel that same shot to a pro what were you thinking. You cut the feed off and the net. Go back and try it again next time. No no amputations try to get you exposure. Yeah absolutely. it's yeah it's it's funny that the differences in what people seeing how people see And then there's you know those in between people that know enough to be dangerous right right right no exactly you before we dive into this aerial stuff. I wanted to chat a little bit about the the work that you're doing with impe. Be in photo ville. Can you talk about that a little bit. Yeah absolutely so this. Past summer i received an email from. Mpp outlining That they are doing a project with photo. Ville which being from new york is is a large. It's a big thing to be involved in any way shape or form in photo ville And so when approached. Me and asked me. Would i be willing to submit some images For a banner that they're they have An incredible placement brooklyn bridge park right underneath the brooklyn bridge And there were some stipulations. There were Because i'm an area photographer. They liked the idea of Things being from an elevated perspective but given that. mpp is about their interactions with people. There needs to. They wanted to have some people and they wanted to have some nature So it was this kind of really interesting Concoction or or or just mixture of all these things that i had to think about. So you know. First and foremost. I think i one shot. That always comes to mind assistant elevated perch On the east side of manhattan For when Manhattan hinge happens. So you get kind of get the natural world in this kind of celestial happening as crosses forty second street in the avenues in the summertime You get People you know walking down the cross streets or out in the street photographing themselves and then you know. So there's that that kind of element of nature city and a little bit of an elevated perspective there are a couple other times where I use some examples in new york. For instance i was on a observation deck And i was giving actually a workshop On us just how to shoot sunrise and on my drive in. I realize that you know. Oh gosh we're not gonna have any clouds and it's going to be a little bit worrying today so like in my like good morning. Everybody speech i.

"That's exactly right and the idea was put some pressure on the candidates in the impe candidate so that they were lots of labor candidate had in mind as well put pressure on. Then that from the point of view of the media media would turn to and here we are with their signs and stuff like that and and they would ask questions so we were so the gaming in the way to put the question to the candidates any politician actually you feel was forced to state their position as a result of that i can no but don't think that was think that mad at it just made them uncomfortable and dose also i put bonuses to die out there putting in front of the community as it were because they get asked this question and and the the hedging and that at home people yelling at the tv scrape. Well it's simple thing. Just say yes hayes. Yeah so. I didn't actually get an instant result but it was just part of the pressure and the on rod. "Which is total assumption than i'd like to think that You know god was talking to Archangel michael and satan in some like orc demons and they were all playing fantasy football or they were inventing soundcloud or something because evidently they're not bound by time as you say okay whatever day so it turns out the death tree. The god had threatened them with was actually in eternal life tree. Like let's talk about that for a second so it the it being a death tree was alive so god lies to humans like right from the very start note. Teigen you know so now. They're gonna live eternally because they eat from the tree getting bit by a vampire. So i mean then all we know is that he kicked amanita garden in the bible says he put a chairman at the east andrews and he had a flaming sword that was turning every which way my question is are adamant eve still alive and well today because this says quite literally that they ate from an eternal life route. So are they still alive like could they be among us right now could it be jay z and beyond say or they turn out. It's definitely not jason beyond say cheese bill and hillary. Now what sick. "Sorry finished third. Sergio perez came in fifth so mercedes currently has an eight point lead in the constructors championship enough about those big timers. Let's talk about the orange and blue one two from mclaren. And danny rick with the wind landau norris impe to how great was in the papaya pals on the podium. Oh my gosh what. How awesome mclaren is one of the great teams in f one right like one of these story organizations in the sporting to see them back on the top. Two steps is incredible. It's such a long road back from clarence. from you. Know the the you know. Kind of the back of the grid where they had kinda fallen. So it's it's so cool to see them. There is so exciting to see. Danny rick back up on the top step a guy who so competitive who's worked so hard and truly never stopped believing in his own ability to win races. It's exciting also a big shot to lando nora. So i think had such a great teammate. Through that asking the team whether it made sense for him to stay in p two versus fight for clearly being thrilled for his teammate. Yeah i just think that you don't always see that inept when let's oftentimes guys you know it can be an incredibly tense relationship between drivers on the same team. Norris clearly like an awesome guy in austin driver so excited for the team and his teammate. He'll get his throughout his career and he knows that. I thought that was cool to see incredibly likable stuff. Yeah and i thought it was really classy. The way he was going about asking if he could be the one to finish in first place. He's like we sure. We sure you might want me to take over. I don't know just let me know how love me now. I was certainly hoping for it. He zinged me saying that. Who's going to predict land. Norris windsor windsor. Raise in the second half. of course i did. And then he got really close grading but how were you. That it was ricardo. That actually got the win before norris because like you're saying it seems a given that landowners is gonna win. Eventually i would. I would say very surprise. You would say like i. I.

"And just to pull out in. Turn our backs as you know. You know sad in a way. Yeah i agree completely and Yeah it's a crazy there's politics behind every single move nowadays teams like you know everybody is trying to You know prop themselves up for for one thing by by doing something else and without getting into the politics of it all Would you know we all just need to fill. We feel these emotions for these situations in in rightfully so But we gotta remember on the back end just whatever we can control control what we can't you gotta give it to god And that's that's the way. I with my life and you know there's a lot of emotions play here but but like you said You know we we have to fall back and rely on something and when everything else seems to to be going away. I i always feel like like he's there anyway. I'm going to take care of stuff so we'll just hope that happens instead of getting instead of getting sucked down this rabbit hole I'm gonna switch it back over. We'll talk a little bit more about ann. Arbor arms now you guys also go by A three is that right. Well three is just sort of a easy way to you. Know ann arbor arms. Where in ann arbor michigan. So right arm stands for firearms obviously and so a three. Since there's the three as is just kind of like a nice little logo kind of fits and so it's all part of who we are kuhn so we don't go by one or the other all kind of part of it. If somebody was going to try and find you on google they would use ann arbor arms okay. That's that's the most important part because if anybody does listen to this and decide to check you out i wanna make sure thing find easily So you guys you guys are full retail shop and then you also have a gun range. Is that correct. that's correct. We have twenty four lanes three different beds. Okay very nice. Well yes as well as retail retail side of stuff. I mean Walk me through a little bit about what you guys do is just as it firearms optics. All your normal stuff or you guys. Get any specialties. What what's arbor arms all about on the retail side. All right so. I think the easiest way to describe us is we have a good better and best mentality If you go to a car shop and you're or if you go to a dealership and you're shopping for a car you wanna see what you're looking at but you might also want to see a step down something a little less expensive and you might wanna see something a step up a little bit higher right so we wanna have a selection that you know sorta meets our facility in our mentality and have something for. Everyone want to happen inexpensive stuff that we approve of that. We've been able to guarantee sort of works as well as the popular stuff as well as the sorta higher end stuff that you don't see everywhere at every gunshot sureau. We wanna have a little bit of everything. I would say we do a lot of. Ar we do a lot of concealed. Carry firearm and everything in between what What do you. The most popular concealed carry gun on the market. A definitely be between four. I don't know if i could tell you. The exact first second third and fourth places but it would definitely be between the glock forty three acts the big three five The how cat springfield at the moment and the shield plus the new shield plus so out definitely say you know those four. I don't care who is lifted is though spark on a show up. Yeah yeah. I would agree. Those are the ones that seem to to hear quite a bit about. I personally have Both the springfield And the smith and wesson For me the hell cat was a little bit better. Fit for me at was a no brainer to go with fourteen rounds while i also sorry. I had the smith in less than impe two point. Oh shield so. This was bought it before the before the plot. Yeah yeah so anyway. I then i upgraded to where that gun for a long time and i liked it a lot but i'll tell you that the two point oh a grip on the. Snp are sorry smith and wesson. Yeah the That grip was just a little bit too abrasive against my my skin when awarded my belt But also i had a lot of. I had a little bit of trouble with that. Gun personally With anything past. I would say like about fifteen yards. I would start to my trigger. Pull would kind of. I would drift off in my impact would always be off to the right a bit and after evaluate after shooting it for a while i was able to kinda correct that a little bit but i still always kinda went over to the right and i had good groupings but always over to the right a little bit. Why shut shut the hell cat and fell in love with immediately. I didn't have that issue at all. And the only difference. I can think of is Completely different grips. The smith and wesson was a little bit wider in skinnier So it might imagination. Is that when i pulled the trigger is getting a little bit of turn within actual grip versus the healthcare That that that's exactly what it was. It you're slightly over gripping cause it was just the way that in your hand and the slightly wider grip of the hal. Catch a student you better. Yeah yep and i it. It felt a little more comfortable for me. And at the time. I went from seven rounds to to fourteen rounds So that was a no brainer for me. But yeah that's what i'm carrying. Now it's interesting because Let's see who was it. That just came out with a new compact pistol. Was it ruger. Was maybe tour. Debt the match. Yes that one gained a lot more attention than i expected a little bit low to the you know. They're not the first one now at most things but there are always going to have something in the games. The thing about a ruger. They always seem to work To me in the path haven't been the highest on the feature right side of things but they always tend to work so it's something that we always have. It's never the most sought after it's never the least sought after. But it's always kinda you know just just underneath the the the main Contenders but in not a huge distant. Yeah the price. The price point reflects to within the from ruger to these other brands to generally across across a across the spectrum. So that's one reason. I bring them in there because if somebody is looking at getting a concealed carry weapon today they need to know those four main ones pleasant if you want something on a little bit on the Cheaper i wouldn't say cheaper side. But the i wouldn't say lower end it's it's a lower value. It's price lower price lower than the other ones lower price slightly lower but If i were. I think one of the biggest things as you know somebody who carries every day One of the coolest things that we can do here and it's not to just jump back and plug guys but at the same point we want to get out and try the new things and see if it's better than what we currently have and one of the things that we do is we do the.

I am and let's remind listeners that last week because we recorded back to back days and a whole week hadn't passed for new thing we predicted. What are things would be. And i i was so wrong. Oh what my gaze thing would be impede down the first twenty four hours. Were more gay than anything. I could have imagined. Shot out to topless tours. If you're looking for a dune tour we're going to plug our friend. Kristen becker who is a comedian. Who has a bona fide dyke runs these topless tours and is very knowledgeable. And very fun and also has like sunscreen and gum and all sorts of goodies in the back and takes that you could need great pictures of very great pictures never had someone so expertly take like lesbian. Pictures like heck. I you have your girlfriend and you're sort of like any. Just take a picture of us in front of a monument or something and it's just a quick awkward and you're not sure how. Cool the person i don't know she ranked directing us. She was having us. you know. Kiss getting shots from behind over the shoulders with the dunes of the background. Shoutout to kristen becker. We had so much fun. I'm going to say what my gay is thing. Impe town was. But then. When i came back i had a pretty gaping happen immediately. So i in p. town it was actually outside of town. Believe it or not. I was in wellesley one afternoon. And we were in the shop and a woman says something who happened to be the shopowner about being from buffalo. So mmediately i from across the store. i'm from buffalo. We ask where turns that. Were from the same town which doesn't happen much. She went to my high school granted. Twenty years earlier. And i'm thinking okay. Do you know my aunt. My uncle who went there and we start playing this game of. Who do you know. So we're going back and forth. And then she asked. If i knew miss done and missed on was my middle school gym teacher who was clearly a lesbian and even in middle school i could recognize this as a fact and when she said that she was like miss don actually lives here and while fleet now and i was like okay. I have to share this story by this point. Everybody in the store is listening to me. Talk and i might picture me a young lesbian and this small town outside of buffalo. I'm at the mall. I see missed on there with what i assumed to be. Her girlfriend. Air at the food court. I cannot stop looking at them. I don't know i'm gay yet. But there's something about it and they have this big bag at their feet and it's a banana republic bag and from then on. I was constantly walking by banana republic looking inside for more lesbian. This is where the lesbians are and then this woman at the shop goes well. She's married to a banana republic store manager. This is okay but everybody had like the story of kind of like a weird ring of keys. Moment me involving banana republic. I think publicly sharing that. Oh yeah finding a mutual for my middle school gym teacher was totally gassed thing. That happened but also when we got back from p. town. I hung up some blinds. That i- custom ordered for house. "Want to keep safe. Jonathan in your long experience of journalism of all kinds of view sort of developed any ideas. About what the right thing to do at a moment like that is always to stay in. Try and cover the story. The journalists have a reasonable case at various points for just thinking. This really isn't worth it. I'm off. I think you have to say journalists. Have to try to stay for as long as they possibly can. And to report as flee and accurately as i do so now that of course Begs a huge number of questions. How do you stay In difficulty is very very difficult and dangerous situations. Do you reach a point at which you just can't do the job anymore and you'll be killed probably But i think the the the basic job of the journalist is to remain as long as possible and to report on what was happening. Any may not always be. We're we're so much in the world of immediate news that in some cases it may not be immediate. This happened here last in the last five minutes and so on but it may be the long-term build up telling her story because that becomes a book. Okay well let's stay with afghanistan but look at how this week's events are being seen from here in the uk a house of commons full of sulking. Mp's ordered back from their holidays. Have spent today conducting an emergency debate on afganistan which by now to paraphrase more sued all should have reached the stage which everything has been said but perhaps not everyone has set the has been plenty of blame to distribute or deflect. The war in afghanistan has lasted through five british prime ministers to labour three conservative. Here are a couple of excerpts of what we heard today. This is the conservative. Impe and afghanistan veterans. Tom john and the former prime minister theresa may of course the nato presence was always going to end at some point in time but the withdrawal when it came to be audited planned and on the basis of conditions. It has been none of these past being. Most shocking has been the chaos and the speed of the takeover by the taliban in july this year both president fight and the prime minister indicated that they did not think that the taliban was ready or able to take over control of the country was our intelligence really so poor was understanding of the afghan government. So weak was our knowledge of the position on the ground so inadequate. Did we really believe this or did we just feel that. We had to follow the united states. I'd hope the donna winning prayer it would be alright on the night. I was never proud of him. When i was decorated by the airborne after the capture of musa qala was a huge privilege. A huge privilege be recognized by such extraordinary unit in combat to see that commander-in-chief call into question the courage with men. I fought with to claim that they ran shameful. Those who have never fought for the colors they fly should be careful about criticizing. Those who have tom chicken taught on theresa. May's speaking in today's emergency debate on afghanistan in the house of commons. Jonathan did anything in particular. Strike you about the tone of it. We should make it clear to overseas listeners. Those two very critical speeches were very much from two members of prime minister. Boris johnson's party. That lets the important thing i think. He certainly the prime minister johnson he. He looked pretty uncomfortable as you can. And this is not what he became prime minister to deal with. It was bad enough but this is even worse because it raises all the kinds of questions which his predecessor theresa may raised in her intervention. There but the interesting thing is how much of the criticism of the british government is coming from. Its own supporters Both in the press And the house of commons and that something which makes it a domestic political story too which is going to be pretty awkward for mr johnson in the months ahead remains ian duncan smith a former leader of the conservative party and also a former military officer though not in afghanistan veteran quite remarkable intervention from him. He went so far as to say that what we had witnessed in kabul. This week was a matter of shame. for the united kingdom the united states and nato. Is that an accurate assessment. Do you think yes. I think it. Isn't that cute assessment. And i would go step further to say that it's really embarrassing. For the brits on many levels not least because the brits have allowed themselves to be played by the americans this highlights their absolute inability to even be consulted by the americans. The americans abandoned their allies. And i think strategically this is a real reckoning. Four known us parts of nato on Only us an on the us being an unreliable ally. And i think it shows britain's absolute incompetence it has been that it's been parts of this american machine biden biden. Came to the white house. Saying america's back we're back in the world and now you've got this a few months later and as you said absolutely rightly this must put into question. The whole nature the alliance It doesn't mean. I did think that the united states has become a completely unreliable ally which will only look after its own interests. Parts interests often involved infra slava's two bought a raises all kinds of questions Across the world of how big the festival. How the how deep the american commitment is if a majority of domestic opinion in the. Us is forgetting out over. Not standing by An alliance and secondly just about the whole incompetence and chaos of the whole thing you know. Is this somebody you really want to have. Your future depend upon remains a political issue. Which is looming very much for the united kingdom as a consequence of what's occurred in afghanistan is of course going to be the question of refugees the united kingdom Saying i think it will take twenty thousand additional refugees from afghanistan but it is notable that across the channel president emmanuel macron of france Is taking an extremely Hardline against Much of this kind of thing. Is this just pre-election pandering from a man who knows he will probably have to fight a runoff against the front national. Or are we going to see a rush of european countries to try and avoid their responsibilities before the responsibility start turning up. I think we're definitely going to see a rush of european countries trying to avoid the responsibility I think france has has borne big lebron's than britain and he has to be elected And i still think it's really important to remember in the west that we have never we have never heard the burden of the refugees as other countries have so these. Afghans are going to be fleeing to iran and of ghana's to iran and pakistan. Who as we know historically have held the record for hosting the most mountain refugees in the world as we saw with syrian refugees wasn't the west We weren't deluged by them. It was lebanon and it was. It was Jordan so of course as we've seen with micron and as we heard in the house of commons actually quite a few. "Those as well and understand myself better and i realized that i had in thirty years. Thirty years of re therapy was doing. I was journaling And often what happens. We studied in p and things like that as well. But it's your mind and you sort of working your hand and writing down thoughts. None of my intrigues in my journals. Were militia so nasty or anything like that. What they were seeking and putting down times and places and things like that and going back through these donald as able to discover why at one stage of my life. I thought had early stage. Alzheimer's oh my goodness and things like that. And the reason why is because my husband was actually feeding me. The date trade drug. Gosh in the easing. He would come very kindly and bring it loss of wine for my son. Donna and in that glass of wine was date rape drug. So if anybody's actually studied that you misunderstand that you just don't remember anything and i'd wake up in the mornings and in we were sleeping in separate bedrooms at that time at that stage because he basically told me that he he just needed to have space and he was a big snore as well. So it's quite relieved when you've been married for thirty years. I think most women have been with what we have to get on with each other at the kitchen. Dining room and wave or else you have to be an visit each other. If you want to. Anyway i'd wake up in the morning and think how did i get here. That's scared of realized. After he died he had these two cell phones mobile phones. We call them in the uk. And i know ozzie and update died. I'd actually thought what he was. He was an agricultural consultant. And i i'm need to get hold of these clients to say he'd passed away and he normally kept everything locked up under lock and key and all sorts of things but these are been left they obviously defined after he died and then he didn't want to tell me about himself. Before and much to my shock. I discovered that he was a closet gay. Wow and that he had many many lovers what he was doing is he was bringing them into our home. And may men and of course. I didn't know. I was asleep booth and it was all revealed in a lot of correspondents these phones because because it was connected up to They they would connect up to emails. And things like that. That i didn't know existed and being the person i am and as an imperative is never really suspicious about anything. I just thought it was a bit odd. Sometimes though that was a shock to my system. And i realize not getting to these diaries and everything that what had been keeping me sane was the one side act she regrouped and realize that life moves on and stop the petit party and all the other stuff that we do goes through Because we do and we been abused anything like that. And i am. I thought well. Let's put a little program together. That's going to help. People can be children all at ups. That's really just five different modules. That shows just what i was doing. And it's an brainer. So that's basically what that the program is cool. Bright to get right now and it is associated with the book that i wrote and i've had many people who've actually come back to me and and sent me emails. All some people have even written cards much to my interest because most people don't anymore since getting those don't you. Oh it's so lovely. And basically there what happened was they. Were actually saying. Thank you so much because now understand who i am. They've now Do these sort of people emotional vampires and and predators and things like that and in this modern day an age we get many people who point a finger if they've got a broken relationship with somebody. Somebody's done something bad to them and they call this person in assest. No you should not be doing match because it's actually yeah. It's actually a clinical issue with a person just like being a psychopath or any of those sort of people are they. They really are genuine. Not very well and and many of them have something very traumatic. Happen to them in their lives especially as children That's basically what books about. It's it's basically that and really true. Mindfulness reflection and a plus the journey reflective writing. You can self heal. Obviously you if you really if you really have to. You need to go to a therapist or counselor or something like that absolutely. I'm not. I'm not saying only these things will work but they That's a nutshell. That's and you covered a lot of things. Because i was going to ask you a little bit about to describe. I guess maybe how how to be able to spot narcissistic behavior But i think you kinda kinda touched on it a little bit. I think it is. They observe the attacks from about one hundred feet away. Which is like you know. Save the Children scandal 'let down all charities in UK due to mishandling of sex claims'
"GONNA start with the Daily Telegraph. Now this is all about save the children which is alleged to have downplayed some sex scandals. Yes that's right. If you cost you mind not to fall back. There were some very serious allegations made against a number of international agent humanitarian outfits or humanitarian development outfits and save. The children was one of them so they were allegations about him. A culture of bullying inside the organizations themselves and indeed for some of these organizations inappropriate behavior actually extended to some of the very people. They were meant to help. And you've had this investigation which is carried out by the Charity Commission. And they've shown the spotlight on. Save the children and basically they said the term when these scandals about him bullying a first surface bullying within the organization the response of the charity was to effectively behaved like an ostrich and others. You Bury your head in the sand and you downplay the significance and is only as it really gained traction that they started shaking the tree that things started happening so for example you had accusations made by several women against two former senior members of staff. Now this is quite important because the two senior staffer gentlemen who joyful side. I'm Brenton Cox and Brenton Cox was the husband is the husband of Joe. Cox and Joe Cox Tragically murdered during the UK referendum on independence. She was Labor impe and out of her death came this organization. Hope not hate and so this this inquiry by the commission. It's been pretty extensive. It's made some very serious accusations but some visible the stinging sentencing here by the person who led this baroness stole of Beeston. And she said that no one gets a pulse because they all doing important work or are motivated by the desire to help some of the most vulnerable people around the world and this is a really stinging indictment of what actually went on and the whole point about it. Is that when you downplay scandals like this when these these terrible things happening in your own backyard? It's detract to not detract. It deters people who've actually very talented to want to get involved but more importantly it deters people from giving about is so so essential said they had had this open purge and to actually look at what was going on why this happened because clearly. They don't want it to repeat itself again but it's very disturbing but the truth has to come out. It's often very unpleasant but better to a face it now rather than to ignore it
