Design strategies + incorporating luxury home decor on a budget with kate lester

"Of the like themes that keeps emerging on the show is this like beginner. I think designer mistake. Weird like designing and avoid like. You're at home goods and you're just kind of collecting all the things you love. And there's no like common thread or theme or story so that starting places so key It's really important to create. This is so easy now that everyone has a computer in microsoft word or i mean. If you know photoshop you can do it. But what i told people is if you're just starting out in let's say you're doing your apartment right in your on the super tight budget. We've been there by no means do am i just design fancy desire by no means that i have like five hundred dollars to do my college -partment right. What i want to do at home is starting out with your concept. Okay and then put all of the pieces that you're interested in on a concept board and get take that were with you when you're shopping and when you're at home goods and you're ready to do those stupid impulse purchases. Take that word out and be like. Is this gonna vibe with my vibe and if not put it down like i can't tell you how much did at target and homegoods ikya just on this little impulse purchases like other cushion but it can go with anything your house. You know who so. I think that will help a lot of you know that extending allow you to save up for this really special items may be utah out of your budget. You'd be surprised how few rain in those impulse purchases house saving. His moustache lightens is easier. Yes my gosh. That's so beautifully put when you say it. It sounds so obvious. But that's definitely something. I struggle with so hard told me this dog will. What am i going to do. A federal by this dog role. I it's in the air. they try. they try to say you know. Stick with your list. Stick with your concept word and then there are great finds there. You found some really great things that were with my. I try to stay true to that. Naccache excited put everything your car. I love that so much so we talked a little bit about finding like some examples of info pieces like the flower or the photo. What are some of your favorite places that you draw inspiration from is kind of like all over the place or do you of go to things that really deeply inspire you know. Of course. let's be really honest and frank. Kerr pinterest is though. It's great so i will say that if you're on your this first few hundred pages of pinterest. It's the same stuff right so if you're different you're going to have to do a deep dive so we like to say is find that you know chair. They love or find that whatever it is. Maybe you're really intimate century right. And you figure out the name of a charity like deep dive into that and then that will take you to other really interesting rooms and you'll get away from the disorder sort of stuff. You're seeing everywhere so good if you're willing to sit down into a deep dive. I like to olds. Who books like books real hard. You know find a designer or topic. You're interested if you want farmhouse than you know. Do some searching on amazon worse. Farmhouse designed books. You can get great inspiration from those pages that you know. A lot of that stuff is not on pinterest. So you're knocking not everywhere. I did a lot of inspiration. From austin is what the color palettes that are happening. How close structured is everything floral and saucers everything sharp edges. And how they feel about that and is gonna translate into if i hit more curved items or you know i think you start to develop your style when you're pulling things because people don't realize that they have their own patterns that emerge and with our clients do a pinterest board for us. They'll say we'll do. I need to tell you what i like in each picture. And i know 'cause i can tell if it's repeating throughout what you're picking so. I think that happens with with regular people to start picking me compile. Tear things out. Taxings things up. And you'll start to see a pattern and then you can kind of narrow it down from there right. I feel like part of your job as a designer. Obviously like did these beautiful spaces but there's another level of like really kind of like helping your clients figure out who they are style wise. And that's something. I feel like that when you can do that artfully like. That's when you get the coolest spaces. What does that process. look like. You mentioned the pincher sport but is that where you start or there's a consultation like what is that. Look like when we you know. Most of our artists are really large-scale right. So we're starting with these people when maybe they're buying a dirt lot and we're having to design their home from the ground up right and then we're not only designing interiors. Were signing all the finishes fixtures and then all the furnishings so the first thing like to do is save them from themselves right because we're giving them everything they're asking for the help that they need for right so the first thing we do. Is we through these. These pinterest boards. We asked them to pull some images. Maybe ten twenty images. It's really all we need. We start to see a pattern of what they like. And from there we say. How can we take this and make it cool. It's not a cool right having to take this push their boundaries. How can we take their level to wholeness and make it a level head right if we see that there it into brass. How do we rain that in. Say okay will. This house has to have longevity. What ross isn't trending in six years right. How do we incorporate those things that we see. They're gravitating toward in in a way. That will live with them for a long time. So a lotta times. it's really just pushing their boundaries. And saying you know. I see that you posted. A couple of pieces of contemporary are either boring but how these bright suit. Our job is to take them right. The edge of where they would say. I never would pick back but i actually love that. That's what you wanna tried. Do to yourself. If you're at home right. You know i do. I love this. I know everyone has this chair. But i found this chair. His kind of weird ways hungry woman. So you know. How can you get outside that that box of trends and really do something.

Small Greenhouses: The How, What, and Why

"Wanna pick up an idea that somebody sent us in an e mail. Few months ago where they asked us to comment about some small ikya greenhouses now for people who don't know key is a big furniture store right. Coup doesn't kia. Well some people may not know but evelyn e. you know about these greenhouses. What what exactly are people asking about. What are they talking about here. It especially if you live in a small home or a small apartment and you don't have a lot of window space or your apartment very dry. These miniature greenhouses can be very appealing because it gives you some dedicated growing space. And it's a way to increase the humidity. Which for some house. Plants is really important. It cracks me up when i see these on pinterest planted with charming little succulents. Because that's the last plant that really needs the increased humidity of greenhouses fact. You're you're probably going to be doing them a disservice unless you leave that. Many greenhouse open all the time. But but i can't actually makes one called soccer and i'm sure that if i spoke swedish would pronounce that better which is very cute and actually functions and the reason that it functions is because the roof is hinged so you can open it up and have full complete to the inside of the little greenhouse and it's small it's like about eighteen inches wide and fourteen inches tall but you could still fit some really pretty smaller plants that need high humidity in a little greenhouse like that. But there it's a maiden hair furner erects or an apiece or something that needs increased shop but don't waste it on a bunch of succulents. That's not really what you need to do for them. And it's probably not large enough to grow any amount of food in either right now. It really isn't. And i get so frustrated when i see these things. Online that are not realistic. That set people up to fail. Because you have a bad experience with something like that and it's gonna turn you off from growing plants completely. If you wanted to start a few seeds in one of these little greenhouses you could certainly do that. But it's not enough. You're not going to be able to grow more than maybe like a basil plant or a rosemary. Plant something in there. It's just they're just not big enough on but the thing to watch out for especially is read the descriptions if you're looking online a lot of these things that are just charming are not functional. There are some beautiful like brass and glass greenhouses up there little mini ones. That would fit on a tabletop and they sit on a tray and the trae is a half an inch deep and to access the planting. You have to lift off the whole glass top. So you've only got a half an inch of soil in there to plant with. That's not gonna work for you the ikya one. Actually you can plant in. And even though it's made out of you know glass it's plastic. It does function. so you could. You could use this. For for instance a almost a terrarium. You could create a little jungle environment in there. Yeah you could and if you if in the ones that let let you actually plant directly in them if you are going to buy one of those beautiful ones that doesn't actually have a solid bottom to it. That's the kind of thing that you're going to have to use like a close. You might just put a couple of pots in there and then put the glass top down on top of the whole thing. But you can't actually plant in soil in that kind of a little mini greenhouse. It's it's almost a display item rather than a functional growing strider. And you need to. It will increase the humidity for those plants. But they need to be individually potted. And i think it's important for people to manage their expectations now I was looking around when when we decided to talk about this. I was looking around. Because i noticed that some people mentioned that you can use these inside or outside and and i'm sure you can put it outside. But why would you want to limit yourself to such tiny thing. If you're doing it outside you know if you want some outside protection so that you can grow more plants on the shoulder seasons early in the spring and and even into the winter there are larger structures. That are much better for this. And i was looking at the gardner supply company which is a company that i'm very fond of up in vermont. An employee owned company. They're wonderful and they have a several structures that fit over standard size raised beds that create this kind of greenhouse effect over a raised bed. The sides come up so that you can get in there and tend your plants you know. And you've got that protection that carries you into the winter or early in the spring and very reasonably priced. Yes and those are a much better. Bet if you're talking about outdoor growing for many reasons because they're they're lightweight they're plastic. You can fold them up in store them easily when the growing season is completely over and they give you much more space than a tiny little kia. Terrarium is going to give you. But if you are interested in doing this indoors and you want a little more space than the ikea soccer will give you my swedish accent soccer so you could just take and this is what i used to do. I would just. I would buy big old aquariums flea markets and garage sales and this was something it may not be quite as cute and charming as something that was intended to be greenhouses concerned. But it solid. It's all glass. So you've got a really strong thing there that you can plant directly in and it's going to give you more growing space so if you're somebody who's just been dying to grow a maiden hair fern or something that requires higher humidity than you can give it in your apartment. Start looking for those old fish tanks because those will really serve your purpose probably better than anything you can buy new

Home renovations that pay off

"So we're in moving into home renovation season when people look around say you know. I'd really like a new kitchen. I'd really like to to have have new new bathroom. bathroom. Whatever Whatever and and my my son son and and I I were were an an eye eye Kia Kia last last week week yet yet and it was packed beyond belief. I key on a weekend but what was most crowded. Were the kitchen redesign areas. I mean people were piled in those and looking at ideas. People are taking pictures with their phones. Which I don't know if you need to do because it's probably all on. Ikya DOT com but people were looking at these ideas to put in New Cabinets. New countertops new floors do appliances the whole thing and I was looking at how much it costs even at eye Kia to do those kitchen renovations. It's a lot so if somebody does it. According to the Industry the Trade Association and the National Association of Realtors and the National Nary the National Association remodeling industry. They both do these studies about how much renovations worth see. Redo your kitchen typical kitchen redo. You'll get back out of it. Just a little more than fifty cents on the dollar. So have you spend. Let's just keep it simple. Ten THOUSAND FOR KITCHEN REDO. It will increase the value of your home. Best typically fifty nine hundred dollars. So you're if you're doing it with the idea of getting more money selling your home you're actually net negative forty one hundred dollars in that example and this is true for one thing after another. You might do to your home that you're gonNA get a return not close to what you put into it. Big thing people do is add a new master bedroom new master suite with fancy bathroom and closets and bedroom. And all that that's very popular addition. People do their home return on that also about fifty cents on the dollar so if you spend twenty thousand dollars adding on that master it will net the value of your home ten thousand so you're down ten. What does pay hottest thing right now? That will pay off more than a dollar for each dollar. You spend because what people are looking for. In most of the country hardwood floors will make a difference according to the story in CNN business and doing something like updating the heating and cooling systems in a home insulating. They come close to recovering their costs in netting. What you'll get but I wanna tell you my simple rule. The reason you renovate a home or add onto it is fear enjoyment. Do not con- yourself into thinking the you're doing an investment that's going to have a positive return in cash. You're doing that for you to enjoy the place. And that's the reason you do. It

"A leader. You need discipline towards the business. Mortar unit acknowledge. Yeah we were always a cautionary example of the twenty things not to be doing as a company so essentially you're on the ground in India. I've actually never been very high in my to do list so when I'm heading over there all download the APP and you can set me up talk to me a little bit about the differences of just simply the scale and the kind of boots on the ground overview of India in where it stands as a country in relation to what you guys are doing. Great so I believe today. India's and read geography to look at. We have already seen big companies like Amazon or Walmart or if at all these companies they have made huge amount of investment Ikya amid huge amount of investments in the existing ecosystem. All these companies. What's up dog if you talk about all these summits? They have even for that biographies. Well they have like one of the highest revenue will center speeds of India. And that's happening or a couple of reasons. One is like more and more buffalo in India as getting access to Internet so so far the industry has been their existing just as a number that is shown in GDP but right on the given the size of the population the demand that exists today and the slope is now becoming digital nature so so every industry a house a great potential to extend and to get on demand as fast as possible so Investors based out of us because we are US based companies essentially being vic- company. We have pretty much good access to load up in busters based other valley. So I say that they're lot funds who are already global who are either shown in dressed to invest in India and I believe that love people are catching up. A lot of people need to get off because that's where a lot of population is getting exposed wards the digital transformation that is happening lots of people are signing up for. Amazon match. Lakes walks up. The customers are still growing today and digitally wallet. Finance System Company that so many companies there so many MS emmys medium and small-sized businesses which are which are becoming online. Mitch are doing business on so many e commerce platforms like that up guard which is owned by Walmart or Amazon. So I see. It's a huge opportunity and everyone should have great.

Lights, camera, Oscars: Meet the creators decolonizing Hollywood

"I'm Rosanna the dear child. Talking all about rewriting Hollywood's image of indigenous people from the inside and five indigenous. Writers Comics are doing just us that working on a brand new Sitcom for NBC. Called Rutherford falls unreserved producers. Tenant met up with them on the paramount studio lots in La just outside the writer's room where things can get a little silly job Tassell fulltime job. My name is Janisch meeting. I'M MITOCHONDRIA LAKOTA. And I'm a staff writer rather vol's my name's bobby. Wilson I'm secede secede Awan Awan Dakota and I think a little bit of White House staff writer Donahue. My name is Tania as Chavez. I am a citizen. If the Bishop how you tribe molly member one tribe relations are I am Navajo Pie in San Carlo Patchy achieve and I am the story editor on the jets. My name is Tyler Claire. I am Mohawk and mic-mac from from going to walk in Quebec and a staff writer on the show it's pretty great. AFC or analysis Hanish land nearby Cheektowaga Additionally my name is Sierra Teller Analysis I'm member of the Navajo Nation. I'm born of edgewater people in for the Mexican people and I'm also The Cook Creator of Rutherford Falls. I created the show with Ed Helms and Mike sure who both worked on the office in my created partner in Brooklyn I nine and the good place and so we've been working on this developing this idea for about a year and a half now. The show runner is really sort of like the boss. But they're also a conduit between in the producers and the other CO creators and the studio and the network and then also the writers so there's kind of jack-of-all-trades sort of shortstop position. I'm going to say that. This is the first native show runner in America and I would say this is the first TV show that has this many stuff writers and writers that Arnie if I could be wrong but I won't back down. Toss it would be my hype woman. The most basic question to start with what is referred falls. What is it about we such a hard time explaining what the show is? But it's awesome so like definitely spy side in there. I'm not it's all about the town of other falls which is this tiny town in upstate. New York that is adjacent to a native reservation and the town is sort of turned upside down own when there's talk of moving statue that commemorates the founder of the town. This Guy Lawrence Weatherford. And the last Rutherford to live in the town is this Guy Nathan in played by Ed Helms Nathan Rutherford and he just loses his mind over it. And because you sort of can't let go. It causes all these other dust ups in the town including his friendship. unshipped with Scroll Regan. Who is native American one of the things? I think that I love about Mike. Sure shows is that he sets out to really try to say something big in a super funny super assessable way talking about the bureaucracy of government with parks and REC or talking about like. What does it mean to be a good person with a good place and I were two picture shows? People be like what the hell are you talking new out but he has a way of sort of condensing and making it funny and making accessible way that I really enjoy and so I think we're talking a lot about like what are first stories. What does the American narrative? How does that American narrative affect all of us? And I think we've found a way to sort of make funny interesting version of that so for people who can't see where we are. Could you describe have a where we are. We're in a fort on an ancient Hollywood burial ground. There's a couple of Indians in there. I think Joey Ramone Well look at his heir where paramount pictures studio. So it actually is one of the oldest Hollywood studios you on point Bobby. This is the old blue studios which is on bay. Does your Anez and Lucille Ball. It's unoccupied territory and its content. It is one thousand percent haunted. We're surrounded by a lot of videos and so you get to walk past them on your way the office and like look in and see people making TV and movies. It's pretty wild everyday that I come here. I'm like holy. I can't believe this is my life. That's what I say. Every day we'll settle into the office very quickly very very quickly. Bobby put up artwork mark. We got rugs pillows. They got native real quick. Colonial settlers. We settled settled. It's actually one of the nicest writers rooms we've I've ever worked in. They usually look like these like really Friday sad dorms. It's preach ikya plants Manson furniture and blankets. It's nice so many gods so much I was a kid and I would go to my white friends houses they all have pantries ebbs and like French necks and lunch ables caprice and I didn't have that and so this kitchen I feel like is amazing. We are the rich kids now day one we were so like. Yeah if we'd have water beat the great shirts. Gosh I'd love to chat with you about how you work together. What is a day of work? Look like are you making each other laugh Just watched the movie black cloud. It's like that daddy issues. A lot of fights. There's one wall that we we can all punch his. I'm getting a lot of straight answers from the corner here. And it's a pretty traditional writer's room we blue sky and then we just go through and sit on a couch together and talk about the things that have happened in our lives. And that's what's look great but having so many native writers as I feel like being the only native right on a show and ask you a question you have to represent then everybody and what's so great here. I don't have the answer. There's a good chance one of the other writers we'll have it other native writers and that's so it's just so nice. There's such a weight off your shoulders. I was really amazed by how collaborative has been like. I thought we were going to be like Austin delegating. Some like random small space windowless room place. But we're actually like working together on couches is all day making jokes. It's phenomenal so what was the first day working together. Like I can't answer that because I feel like I have a moment. He's he's just a moment because this is the first time that I've had native colleagues in any workplace and it's so cool to come to work especially in TV and be around other native writers. When I had my first meeting with Sierra at Homs was in the room and her and I were just like talking points like she remembered he was there and she was like? Do you have anything that you say. And he was like no. He's this is amazing. And what's amazing is like we get to cut out Indian one on one and we just get to get on on with the humor and the stories and it's super cool. That's the most exciting thing for me that I know on the first day is that it was also the first time I think we've been the majority in any space. It like influences the vibe and the culture of the room for sure and it's just it feels really familial and it also also is I think influencing the storytelling quite a bit. It's it's pretty magical. And what about putting the writing team together were you part of that Sierra. So could you. Could you tell me about how you put a writing team together for this show. Sure I mean it's really just been like I sound like a Pollyanna but like a dream come true in a sense of like. I figured there'd be like one native writer later and have to fight for it and Mike was like. Oh no there should be like half. The room should be native but to two hundred between woman a white guy should be half and half and he just has such incredible influence so the three of us at Mike and I met with a bunch of different writers from all different backgrounds. And it was so cool that you're told all the time well there there aren't out there so it's GonNa be really hard and it really wasn't and it was just a really cool idea of like who are the funny native people that I know or discovering and then we put them all together with a bunch of other funny writers from different backgrounds and friends runs that I'd worked with before. It's a really exciting time because I feel like we're all getting to do something that is like genuinely funny genuinely interesting but also very much from a native have perspective and kind of juxtaposed that with a traditional white American perspective. I think we're going to have multiple native characters. There's like two main native characters on the show who have very the different views of just everything and I think there's something interesting about their scenes where native people are talking to people about whatever and not necessarily about housing native but sometimes and I think the exciting about getting to to write those

"Welcome to gadget lab. I'm lauren good and today it's our end of year episode later in the show. We're going to look ahead and make some predictions about what's going to happen in consumer tech next year and beyond but I I will go around the room and we'll talk about the most interesting stories and gadgets gear and consumer tech from two thousand nineteen. I'm going to ask everyone to share the product or trend they think impacted packed at our lives and your lives the most this year. Let's kick it off with Mike. Mike what do you think. Well I thought long and hard about nominating a product. I think my bed was at the top of the list and my bicycle was not far below it but I've decided instead to highlight a trend and this is the Swiss army gadget. These things have been around for a couple of years now. It is the lamp. That's also a speaker or the wireless charger that also has a digital photo frame attached to it These are the things where a company is basically looking around your house at all. The things that are plugged in and trying to find two or three things can combine into one items. You only have to plug one one thing in this is more than just putting chip in something that has never had a chip in it before it's more than just adding a camera and a microphone in and putting Alexa inside of it although we'll say that the rise of Alexa and specifically Amazon's release the Alexa software developers. Kit Two years years ago has led to this becoming a much bigger trend in the consumer product space. But this year was the year that we really saw the breakout of the swissarmy gadget. We actually started tracking this. EES last year. Our colleague Brian Barrett wrote a lovely story about the rise of the Swiss army gadget. You should go read right now So Oh some things that we saw. This year that I really liked there was the simple human censor mirror hi-fi which is a bathroom mirror so it's a makeup mirror that has a light around it that also has an Alexa speaker in it so you can like ask it to play. NPR while you're doing your makeup in the morning. There is the barrister which is a poor over coffeemaker with a digital alarm clock in which is totally weird and delightful Probably the pinnacle of this trend is the key symphonic. Lauren you review this for wired. It is one hundred eighty dollar Ikya lamp that also has a Sonos speaker in it so I think it's the pinnacle because it just looks like a lamp but it's also a Sonos speaker those two things that everybody wants in their house. They're not things that you're trying to think may work in your house. These are things that you absolutely want in your house else but it's so ugly. It's not beautiful. It's not perfect. It's also like that in my house. It's also not the best lamp and not the best Sonos speaker but it is sort of two big giants. It's bringing their strengths to the table to create something new and unique that actually has utility for people. That's the thing that I'm that I'm excited about in the space. And that's the the thing that I think i. We can look for growing next year. It's a really interesting trend and one of the things that I did know in my review as well as that it caters to certain consumer tech buyer or audience that perhaps his living in smaller spaces you tend to think of younger people who are living in apartments or just that In in our home space tends to be smaller in general in some places and cities and metropolitan areas. And so so like you think about the ways at these gadgets can do double duty in a way that you don't have to fit an entire speaker system and lamps and alarm clocks and whatever else there is but wildes wildes may make things more convenient in some ways. I do wonder this is the cynical part of my brain. If it's also much more convenient for companies denise to Siphon data away into. I don't know somewhere where they're using her data and ways we don't really know about or fully understand because you're no longer just buying the lamp you're buying the lab with the smart speaker with the voice assistant that you're talking to. And then those supposedly anonymous aggregate voice spits are being sent back to somebody server somewhere was you have to cast a dark cloud sunny optimism and just saying just saying and that's actually a great transition to Arielle Rl. What do so you think was the biggest trend in two thousand nineteen? It's got to be privacy. This is something that we hear about every single year. The word privacy is nothing new in our space but I think this year are things really heated up and the telling example is definitely smart speakers so smart speakers sales are way up this year. I just checked a report that said they had risen thirty five percent in two thousand nineteen. There are millions of smart speakers around the world like in your grandma's house now and at the same time as people are really excited about smart speakers and voices have gotten so good and now everything's speaker and it's so convenient people are freaking out about the privacy implications nations. We saw this this year with both Google and apple catching a lot of flack for the ways that their voice recordings are being processed on the back end so people sort of for the first time got to peek behind the curtain and say the things that my Alexa speaker or my google assist or home pot is recording are actually being processed by the people which means someone's listening to you in your house. I think that sentiment has really shifted this year. Obviously privacy concerns are nothing new but this was the the first time I can really remember hearing people at cocktail parties saying like. I'm scared of what the tech companies are doing with my data of whether or not there watching me whether or not you're listening to me and people are are interested. I think now in pushing back. Get the sense that there's going to be any real action taken in twenty two thousand twenty or beyond that addresses some of the concerns that we've seen emerge over the past couple of years whether that's concerns around social media sites And how facebook is is using our data or whether it's how giant tech companies are using human contractors to listen to our audio bits and train their eyes on them. Yeah I do you so I think public sentiment is really powerful or at least recently has become so because of public sentiment now Google and apple have both changed their practices for for how people review these these voice. Bits when they're sort of collected on the back end so that's that's already one example of something that the public has has influenced intact intact But there's also this big push around regulation and there's something really exciting happening January first. which is that this new piece of legislation called the He California Consumer Privacy Act will go into effect? This is a piece of legislation that was drafted by a bunch of unlikely activists in California. Who are sort of wary? Weary of what these tech companies were doing their data they took inspiration from. GDP are which is this sweeping regulation across Europe that basically set standards for how how tech companies can use people's data What they can store when they have to delete it stuff like that and Yet these these Californians got this piece of legislation passed fast. It's going into effect in January and I actually think that will have some widespread affects not just because California's such a big economy with such a big population. And but because all of these companies are headquartered here and if there's now regulation that says hey if somebody asked you to delete their data. You actually have to do that. Then that changes how some of these these companies operate so that means going forward if you're listening to this podcast and you want to send in a request that we delete all of your data will have to do it okay. So one one of the biggest trends for me this year was the emphasis on services. Very unsexy word. What our services okay? It software but it's also subscription subscription software so for example apple is known for its very expensive hardware it's phones and whatnot but the company also makes its own software and more and more it's been pushing people to pay for software where on a subscription basis at least that's been my experience both on Mac and iphone whether that's news or apple TV streaming services. They want you to start paying for everything now on a monthly basis. And it's not just apple also google. I also pay for Google's cloud services. I finally hit my limits. This year on g mail I had to start paying more more per month. I was really irritated. Boonen I wrote a guide about how to clear your gene. Also you don't encounter this then they're streaming video services that we all subscribe to Netflix. WHO Amazon Prime Video? Hbo Now then. There are direct to consumer companies whether they're selling dental flaws or shaving cream or whatever what is the all wants you subscribing on a month to month basis So this isn't exactly new. The whole idea of companies wanting recurring revenue from you as a the customer. Not a new idea but feels like in two thousand nineteen we hit something of a subscription peak. I like to say it feels like we're frogs boiling and subscription water. And it's a good idea. Wants to while to take a look through your bank statement or just look at all the products. You're using and figure out what you no longer need no longer needing a subscription basis. What services are no longer serving you and it's something I plan to keep a closer eye on in two thousand twenty anything? You cancelled recently. I canceled a lot of stuff recently. I canceled doing rent the runway on a monthly basis. I ended up canceling celing that. Let's see unsubscribe to if you Patriot accounts. I was no longer using. I unsubscribe to Dobie services that I was no longer using being Yeah I've really been going through Lee and trying to pay attention to things. I did end up canceling Kulu. But then spotify was offering media bundle with Hulu so I ended up subscribing to dad that. That's happening a lot to know as well. You're seeing the bundles. Your you get you know cell phone service and then you've got one of the streaming services you buy an iphone and you get access to apple. TV plus free for a year. All of this stuff were. We're GONNA see more of this. I think in twenty twenty so it's a good idea to pay close attention to services and what you're actually paying for All right let's take a quick break and then we're GonNa talk about the future.

him this up where did but you read the that good somewhere thing about and I was I drunk God damn absolutely but the good thing about me I when believed I'm drunk is it I still too have impeccable I was like wait grammar and punctuation I so let's can go you imagine is the fact that it a was pop said that three in the morning you couldn't tell right for you yeah they that's gave great him the song but this I three okay in the morning sang last night off you key texted and my me chorus that you were so because it excited wasn't your for the is podcast that has to be so we're though for real yeah okay and I yeah love just that really that wasn't is that is I saying was I off key and my choruses these these every man songs I've ever I've been dated so excited if it's not about and me I was I'm coming not out of interested such a in doing because it I up was to my I full was in capacity my crying phase that of right my there depression hi James for the past couple Sang of weeks off key and and now my I'm corn in the manic I'm like acting going out out phase people yeah is calling and so your I get XS excited over I haven't things like I Selena haven't Gomez texted songs James that's beautiful amped and up I'm sorry I yesterday responded I was I was to it fueled like a by Canada's like a text Raisin from him Hell in all day eh I love I haven't that talked I'm to GonNa him Listen since not May today and even yesterday then it was was minimal my taxing Selena lose you to love me I okay I I listened texted to it James nonstop but now that I miss them just I also to really started rub it listening in to it a little would bit you say on Tuesday it was about personal stuff and that I was had like I into had since it learned yeah but by wi-fi Wednesday and like I Oh this is all I want to listen to I didn't mean to ask we no didn't it's okay it what and I did it and come I out it came abreast out on Tuesday to that I'm to no it came him out before that but but the good I thing about was and I was I drunk a couple absolutely of days oh but well the good thing yeah about I me was when I'm drunk Nick is I I still was a have little impeccable scared and now grammar I actually and can't punctuation listen to it so unless I'm in let's like a go safe is place the fact that it was said because that three in the morning I you couldn't don't tell know what right I have no control yeah over myself when that's the song great comes on I yeah three in the morning last I don't night know you texted I'm me that you sorry were so juuling excited for the podcast so we're though yeah I okay feel like yeah just really wasn't here's I the was thing I these these that songs song I've reminds been so me excited so much and of I was coming when out of such I got a out of my relationship because I was with I was the in my crying ex phase that was of my depression physically abusive for the past couple okay of weeks and now I'm in the and manic acting the out phase yeah feelings and so I get they excited came up over from that things because like Selena Gomez I remember songs that's it beautiful was so weird amped because up I was like yesterday I was I was I fueled by hated Canada's Raisin I was Hell like I all day don't I love WanNa that be I'm GonNa with this Listen person not today eh yesterday was my but I feel Selena lose you to empty love me okay without him I listened I felt to it like nonstop no one you know and I I also started listening feel to like it a little a bit on at least feeling Tuesday hatred feeling something and I was like into yeah it I felt yeah like but by Wednesday like I felt that Oh in this my is last all I breakup want to listen I to was almost like because we it was didn't so mutual it what did it come out it came out I on Tuesday still respect I'm him no and it came I out care before about him that but so I I was was like can you like throw frigid a couple me or of days something oh well just so I can yeah I was make like Nick I was just a little so I know scared who the bad guy and is now I actually but like can't listen this to was it very unless clear I'm in like a like safe place I was not supposed because to be with this and I don't know what I have I no think control over myself that's when what the song I comes heard on and yeah got from the song I don't is know like that I'm feeling sorry of like juuling refinding yourself after I feel like after aching someone else your here's whole world the thing is like that it's song reminds the most me so much rewarding of thing when I got out of my relationship and I with I the truly ex believe that that everyone was should physically spend abusive okay at least and a year the or more single feelings they came and up from let's that say because at least I see remember your more with someone it who was so is weird not treating because I you was well like I everyone hated should take care I was research like I just don't to WanNa be with toughen this person yourself up eh really appreciate but I feel a good relationship when you get it empty even a decent without him one yeah I I felt mean if like if no they say one thank you Oh you you know you'll and be I like can we get married feel like a at that's least feeling so hatred true in feeling her something it really is true out yeah I felt anyway like I I felt but that in yeah my last I heard breakup it and I was I like was almost like king because of that it was time so mutual because I still it respect was so him and I care intense about him so I was yeah like can you like throw I mean frigid I truly me or something made that just person so I can my whole world make I had like no idea the thing just so I I know didn't who the know bad what I guy liked is uh-huh but like I discovered this comedy was very after that clear relationship like I was is not you supposed know what to I be mean with this yeah and I I I think like bonded that's with what I Alabama heard and I got you from know the song everything is like that happened feeling of her like dog refinding not the band yeah yeah yourself and after not the certainly not the after state aching someone else your whole world but is yeah like so I felt like it's it was just the a most kind of an anthem rewarding more thing her then to Justin people and are like I oh it's I for Justin truly believe that and everyone it's like should no spend this is this at least is the a toxic year dump or more Ra single like that and it's let's say the at least stover see your more with someone who it's the leftover is feeling not treating yeah you well I'm like that's what it's not about John everyone this is a should song take for care her research celebrating just her to and what she toughen went through yourself like up coming out of the really ash appreciate right a good that's relationship what it does when have you get that it feeling even of a decent like one yeah I I mean if want if the experience they say thank you of Oh love you and you'll I'm be disappointed like can we get married I didn't get it but that's so it true doesn't in her but it really beyond is true that out there anyway is no that's I it that's but what I got yeah I from heard it it and I was yet like which is king I of don't that understand time why Haley because it was was so even upset intense about this because it's certainly yeah not like I want I mean you I back truly it's like made that person and my it whole world doesn't I had reference no idea her the in thing any I way didn't know like what this I liked we don't know uh-huh for sure I that discovered Haley was comedy upset about after it that relationship is I you mean know what I that's mean what yeah the fuck I in but that's what bloggers I like yeah but the bonded thing is it's with like Alabama they're all in their twenties I you know and we're everything in our thirties happened and we're still her sub dog tweeting not the band and yeah sub yeah instagram and storing not the people certainly like they're not definitely the state doing it you know but so Justin yeah Bieber so loves I felt and Internet like it was just fight a so kind of an anthem I'm more sure Haley her has then taken to a Justin page from that people are book like oh it's for Justin right and it's it's just like to me no it's not because this is the thing this was is the toxic it was all dump it was big news Ra like I that don't I don't think so it's I really think the she like stover well maybe it's I the mean leftover the song's feeling called yeah I'll kill I'm like that's you what it's not about John this walk is a song or for yeah her celebrating she put her an and what she Haley went put through it like up coming right out after of the ash this Selena right song that's was what released it does have that I feeling don't know of like it's just like I some want lyrics the experience like trying to of come love between and us I'm at disappointed won't end up I good didn't get it because I think but I think it Haley doesn't but beyond to me seems very that intelligent there and definitely is no the most that's it that's what I even got from it killed yet which is head I on don't her shoulders understand of beasts three why like Haley Selena verified was even psychopaths upset about this because it's certainly but like not like and I want so I you think back it's there's like always that and one it doesn't reference person her in in any way your like this we don't mates know for sure life that Haley was upset who about even it if I don't like them and they're I not in mean love that's with them what any the more fuck fires in but them that's up what in bloggers a way that makes yeah but you the thing is not it's like be they're able all to like in their control twenties them anymore and we're in our thirties and that's who and Selena we're still sub is tweeting to Haley and sub to instagram meet it clear storing people it's like like they're yes definitely I think doing just it indefinitely you know like loves Hayley so Justin Bieber more loves than HE LOVES and Internet fight SELINA so I'm BUT SELINA sure Haley RILES has taken a page UP in from a that way that book Haley he doesn't right and it's like just it's to still me it's not that feeling because like the thing when you're was a passionate person it was all that it hate was big is distraught news because I've I been don't I don't I'm think so I really I'm think a she like I'm a Selena well maybe so I mean I've the song's I've called been that I'll person kill that's you why walk like or yeah I was she about to put say that's an why Haley people fear put it me up right I mean after they they this do Selena though it's song just like was you have released to know this about yourself I don't know it's just like not it's some a lyrics it's a it's like a trying fun to come and between us bad at won't quality end at up the same good time because it's because like I I think would like I to think be friends with Haley to me seems some very of my intelligent ex's and their new and girlfriends definitely and it's the almost most not even on the able for even someone like me killed who head on her shoulders of just beasts three like all my like relationships Selena are tumultuous verified for better psychopaths or for worse but like I've had and so one I that think wasn't there's and always it's because I that didn't one really love him person oh in your mates yeah life I who even I if feel I like don't I finished like them and they're I not in love got with them any out more of fires that them up Tumultuous in a way that makes you Shit not be able I think to like control after them anymore well after and that's who my Selena ex is who to Haley hit me I to was like meet okay I think it clear I've had enough of that it's yeah like yes I and think what am I just indefinitely wasn't like loves physically Hayley abused more merely than emotional HE LOVES any I really SELINA went full BUT tilt SELINA yeah RILES and UP then in a way was that Haley like he doesn't I'm done and like it's this dynamic still that feeling I like worked when you're a through passionate a lot of person why I needed that that hate dynamic is distraught because I've been while I'm I was in it I'm because a I was I'm in therapy a Selena and I was like figuring so I've it out I've been that person like that's why I was like like because whenever you're doing something I was about that to say you know that's you're why not people supposed fear to be doing me I mean they they or do you know though it's is just bad like for you you have to know this about it's yourself so useful to not go it's a it's what a it's a am fun I getting and out of this bad quality at the same time because what it's like is I it would like to in be friends what way with is the serving me some of my and ex's and you their know new girlfriends obviously and it's almost the easy not answer even on is the like able oh it's for not someone like but me who it always is just in like all some my relationships way are like tumultuous I for got better or to for worse oh like the hero I've had for one this that noon wasn't and it's yeah because I didn't you know what really I mean love and him that was oh because he was always yeah falling I apart I and feel he was like always I relapsing finished I got and then out I of that would step in and he would be Tumultuous like you're an angel and Shit I'd be like I think I really am after well you know after what I mean my it ex feels good yeah who that's what I hit got me from I was it like okay and I think I wanted I've had enough of that to yeah and what am I I wanted wasn't and also physically it came abused from like this merely childhood emotional believes that love any is I earned really went full tilt you yeah and deserve then it because was you exist like you have to I'm earn done it this by dynamic acting in a way I that worked through a lot that of why I needed that dynamic the sky wants you to act while I right was in and it that's because I all was in therapy shit and I that was I like learned figuring it out out of this relationship so like when I came I was out of like it I was like oh because I whenever don't you're doing need to earn something love that you I know deserve you're not supposed it to be doing I don't need or if I you find know myself is bad bending for you shit it's to so useful become to go what what this person am I getting thinks is out ideal of this that I know that I'm in what that childhood is it in what way is the serving head space me and and you know obviously the yeah easy answer is like so oh it's not what but was I talking about it always Scott is into I this in is some this way is like Selena Gomez's I got news track to does oh like the hero yeah I for mean I this thought noon about your yeah years of you know therapy what I mean and I that thought was I mean I because have only been he in was it for always like unevenly falling two years I apart would say but and he was always relapsing I mean yeah and and then I that's the would problem step in like and I've he would be like I've you're an angel done and I'd be like so well I really in am therapy and like it's you very know what clear I mean it feels good yeah that's what I got from more it more and I with wanted the entertainment business to than with relationships because I wanted through guys before and I was also able to it work came through my from own like relationship this childhood believes kind of that love is therapists earned with that you eh but deserve we it because were talking you about exist before we you started have to recording earn it it's so by weird now acting because in a way I that don't even WanNa be mean that to people anymore but the sky we're wants sometimes you I'm to dealing act with such right and that's trouble all ties shit individuals that I learned that I out have of to this continue relationship being a so little when mean I came to them out just of it so I was that like they oh stay I interested don't need to which earn is love then I deserve a nightmare it I don't because need if I then find I'm like myself okay well bending I don't want shit enter into to a romantic become union with damaged person what this person right thinks but is ideal that I know what I've that been I'm doing in lately that as childhood I just go off it's so head simple space and I don't know I didn't think of this and before but I- purely go off yeah how do I feel so when I'm what around was I this talking person about Scott that's it into that's the only I question this I is asked this myself is Selena and Gomez's for news me track I does feel yeah there I so mean I thought you about people your years who of therapy especially I thought Romantically I mean I have only I have several been in it friends for like who make me feel unevenly but two who years make I me would feel say but smarter I mean yeah funnier and that's the and problem more beautiful like I've I I've I have done I so I well think I'm pretty creating in therapy all those and areas like it's very too clear great really Vica more an more inflated with the entertainment sense business than of self with relationships and all those areas because through guys before we're just I was fine able to work right through and my I own relationship totally encourage kind especially of women therapists to have an with inflated that it will it will eh protect but you like bubble we wrap were talking truly about before we started recording my it's life has so been weird so much now better because I don't even WanNa be mean to people started like anymore even thinking but about we're that sometimes perhaps I'm the dealing bubble with was such not real trouble ties individuals really at that I again I have I to continue being might a little be called mean to like them just so delusional that they stay interested but it's which is then for me it's got a me nightmare this far because but I just then think I'm of like those okay things well and I there don't are so want few enter people into who make a me feel romantic union with damaged smarter person prettier right and Funnier but and what so I've that's been doing very lately easy as I just now go for off me to pinpoint who it's it so is simple good for and me I don't to be know I around didn't think of this it before so simple but I- and purely do I go feel off joy how do because I I think feel I used to I when used I'm around to be like this person does this person that's make me it feel that's the challenged only question I asked and myself eerie and and for all me the end do I I want to throw a feel dish there when I'm so around him you people like that's who my ex but I'm especially like that's Romantically not I have several friends going who to feel make me like feel that but who I make mean me it's feel feel some feeling something it's feeling a heavy emotion smarter but it's funnier not the right and emotion more beautiful and I I I was have so exhausted I from I functioning think I'm pretty at creating all dish those areas throwing too great for two really years every Vica night I was an I was inflated are you getting sense a of on self a scale and all from those areas eating off the dish to we're throwing just fine it against right the wall and I I was totally getting to encourage dish throwing especially every women to have night an inflated right it will it that will protect yeah you like bubble wrap no truly you can't and and my I think life that has this been song so much better kind of it does have that started feeling like even of like thinking when the fight about is that over perhaps in your book the bubble you're both was in not your real corners yeah you're just like panting really and you're looking at I around again at the I destruction that you caused might be called in your Home like delusional Yeah Oh but God it's this for off me I gotTa it's go got Ikya me this far but I just think of those things and there are Oh so my few God people so who make then verse me feel two I even smarter tweeted prettier some of these lines and because it was Funnier just so heavy and so that's very easy I gave now my for me all to pinpoint and who they it is all good know for me it to be around Selena it so simple love and that do I one feel because joy you know because you're I think I are used always to I used to be like I mean does this basically person make heterosexual me feel challenged relationships the woman's and always eerie giving and way all more the end do I want than to throw you tore a me dish down when and I'm now around it's showing him in like two that's months my ex you but I'm like laced that's us not like it going was to feel easy like that made I me mean think it's feel I deserved some feeling something it in it's the feeling thick a heavy of emotion healing but it's not fuck the right emotion and yeah I was so exhausted fuck fuck fuck from functioning we'd always at into a dish blindly throwing I needed for two to lose years you to find me the stance every it night was killing I was me I softly was are I you needed getting to hate a you on a scale to love from me eating off yes the dish to throwing such it against a good the song wall yeah I was getting to a fucking dish throwing love it every and night I love I right love pop music that because like yeah Tarot cards no you can't it's so and vague and that I it think can just that this be song relate kind of to anyone it does have that feeling that's of like like my when the favorite fight thing is over about in it your like book you're both this in is your about corners me yeah she's speaking you're just like to panting me and you're looking now around at the destruction yeah that you caused I was like in your Home Yeah Oh God this I was off talking I gotTa to go my Ikya therapist about how when Oh you my God I so was then like verse two complaining I because I had even gotten tweeted dumb some of these lines to because it was issue just so it heavy was like yeah it I was gave like my all Kinda and dumped they then all kind know of it you know not Selena but like love that you one know because you basically know you're guy was are like always I was into I a mean guy basically and he heterosexual relationships was into the woman's me always and then he was like I giving I want to be single way more and I was like okay than you tore me down well and now it's showing if you want in I two months that's you I'm going to end laced up wanting us like to it was easy be with you made me yeah think I deserved if I keep it doing in the this thick all of just healing fuck I'll just keep trying to be yeah what you want fuck me fuck to fuck be we'd in always order to get into what a blindly I want I needed and to I know lose you to I've find done me this the stance pattern it was I'm killing me not softly gonna do it again I needed to hate you to and love me I was yes talking to my therapist such news like a good are you song sound yeah depressed a fucking and I was like I'm love not it I'm just and NAM I love or whatever I love pop music and he because was like like well Tarot if cards you had to guess what it's feeling am I was I like not okay in a relationship why and well I just started if you want I feeling that's what I was feeling I'm going which to was end just up wanting really disappointed to be layer with you sell yeah for in if life I keep for in doing this all that just I wasn't getting what I I'll wanted just keep out of trying the relationships to be what you want in my life me to be and in order to get what I want and I just walked and I know around I've the done city this I went pattern to a I'm meeting not gonna do it and again I like I and just couldn't stop crying I was talking it to went about bath it on yeah the inside I and guess I was sad like okay I feel and a little then bit better halfway and through then the session I started crying literally and he was like and like I could a couple breathe of days later I was like crying met this Oh person two weeks and ago I think now it was I'm the like week obsessed I think it but was the day that we recorded the whatever Julie Andrews her I feel like Oh there's yeah something you were about you were like when you you were not needed in to hate place you fucked to love up me that day I don't 'cause think she I still hates him got I off think the phone she with my therapist had early to because get I was those crying so hard I couldn't like finish and that's why I just started I stopped asking myself like why am I not in a later I think met this person yeah I think people and probably now I'm kind like obsessed of thought but maybe I mean whatever she's her gotta I feel like she's got him because there's he's something never addressed about it like really when you right needed yeah to hate you yeah and it's to been love so me it's I been don't so think she still long hates and him I mean people I think you she know James Jeff but now that I miss them just to flock really rub what it in and you let it would burn you say you let it burn it was it's about pretty personal low stuff that had for US I had since burn learned off this wi-fi is Oh my God and this I by the way that's about I her didn't shaving mean to ask her posey no it's okay and I is and I that I abreast might forest to that what to are you making him this up where did but you read the that good somewhere thing about and I was I drunk God damn absolutely but the good thing about me I when believed I'm drunk is it I still too have impeccable I was like wait grammar and punctuation I so let's can go you imagine is the fact that it a was pop said that three in the morning you couldn't tell right for you yeah they that's gave great him the song but this I three okay in the morning sang last night off you key texted and my me chorus that you were so because it excited wasn't your for the is podcast that has to be so we're though for real yeah okay and I yeah love just that really that wasn't is that is I saying was I off key and my choruses these these every man songs I've ever I've been dated so excited if it's not about and me I was I'm coming not out of interested such a in doing because it I up was to my I full was in capacity my crying phase that of right my there depression hi James for the past couple Sang of weeks off key and and now my I'm corn in the manic I'm like acting going out out phase people yeah is calling and so your I get XS excited over I haven't things like I Selena haven't Gomez texted songs James that's beautiful amped and up I'm sorry I yesterday responded I was I was to it fueled like a by Canada's like a text Raisin from him Hell in all day eh I love I haven't that talked I'm to GonNa him Listen since not May today and even yesterday then it was was minimal my taxing Selena lose you to love me I okay I I listened texted to it James nonstop but now that I miss them just I also to really started rub it listening in to it a little would bit you say on Tuesday it was about personal stuff and that I was had like I into had since it learned yeah but by wi-fi Wednesday and like I Oh this is all I want to listen to I didn't mean to ask we no didn't it's okay it what and I did it and come I out it came abreast out on Tuesday to that I'm to no it came him out before that but but the good I thing about was and I was I drunk a couple absolutely of days oh but well the good thing yeah about I me was when I'm drunk Nick is I I still was a have little impeccable scared and now grammar I actually and can't punctuation listen to it so unless I'm in let's like a go safe is place the fact that it was said because that three in the morning I you couldn't don't tell know what right I have no control yeah over myself when that's the song great comes on I yeah three in the morning last I don't night know you texted I'm me that you sorry were so juuling excited for the podcast so we're though yeah I okay feel like yeah just really wasn't here's I the was thing I these these that songs song I've reminds been so me excited so much and of I was coming when out of such I got a out of my relationship because I was with I was the in my crying ex phase that was of my depression physically abusive for the past couple okay of weeks and now I'm in the and manic acting the out phase yeah feelings and so I get they excited came up over from that things because like Selena Gomez I remember songs that's it beautiful was so weird amped because up I was like yesterday I was I was I fueled by hated Canada's Raisin I was Hell like I all day don't I love WanNa that be I'm GonNa with this Listen person not today eh yesterday was my but I feel Selena lose you to empty love me okay without him I listened I felt to it like nonstop no one you know and I I also started listening feel to like it a little a bit on at least feeling Tuesday hatred feeling something and I was like into yeah it I felt yeah like but by Wednesday like I felt that Oh in this my is last all I breakup want to listen I to was almost like because we it was didn't so mutual it what did it come out it came out I on Tuesday still respect I'm him no and it came I out care before about him that but so I I was was like can you like throw frigid a couple me or of days something oh well just so I can yeah I was make like Nick I was just a little so I know scared who the bad guy and is now I actually but like can't listen this to was it very unless clear I'm in like a like safe place I was not supposed because to be with this and I don't know what I have I no think control over myself that's when what the song I comes heard on and yeah got from the song I don't is know like that I'm feeling sorry of like juuling refinding yourself after I feel like after aching someone else your here's whole world the thing is like that it's song reminds the most me so much rewarding of thing when I got out of my relationship and I with I the truly ex believe that that everyone was should physically spend abusive okay at least and a year the or more single feelings they came and up from let's that say because at least I see remember your more with someone it who was so is weird not treating because I you was well like I everyone hated should take care I was research like I just don't to WanNa be with toughen this person yourself up eh really appreciate but I feel a good relationship when you get it empty even a decent without him one yeah I I felt mean if like if no they say one thank you Oh you you know you'll and be I like can we get married feel like a at that's least feeling so hatred true in feeling her something it really is true out yeah I felt anyway like I I felt but that in yeah my last I heard breakup it and I was I like was almost like king because of that it was time so mutual because I still it respect was so him and I care intense about him so I was yeah like can you like throw I mean frigid I truly me or something made that just person so I can my whole world make I had like no idea the thing just so I I know didn't who the know bad what I guy liked is uh-huh but like I discovered this comedy was very after that clear relationship like I was is not you supposed know what to I be mean with this yeah and I I I think like bonded that's with what I Alabama heard and I got you from know the song everything is like that happened feeling of her like dog refinding not the band yeah yeah yourself and after not the certainly not the after state aching someone else your whole world but is yeah like so I felt like it's it was just the a most kind of an anthem rewarding more thing her then to Justin people and are like I oh it's I for Justin truly believe that and everyone it's like should no spend this is this at least is the a toxic year dump or more Ra single like that and it's let's say the at least stover see your more with someone who it's the leftover is feeling not treating yeah you well I'm like that's what it's not about John everyone this is a should song take for care her research celebrating just her to and what she toughen went through yourself like up coming out of the really ash appreciate right a good that's relationship what it does when have you get that it feeling even of a decent like one yeah I I mean if want if the experience they say thank you of Oh love you and you'll I'm be disappointed like can we get married I didn't get it but that's so it true doesn't in her but it really beyond is true that out there anyway is no that's I it that's but what I got yeah I from heard it it and I was yet like which is king I of don't that understand time why Haley because it was was so even upset intense about this because it's certainly yeah not like I want I mean you I back truly it's like made that person and my it whole world doesn't I had reference no idea her the in thing any I way didn't know like what this I liked we don't know uh-huh for sure I that discovered Haley was comedy upset about after it that relationship is I you mean know what I that's mean what yeah the fuck I in but that's what bloggers I like yeah but the bonded thing is it's with like Alabama they're all in their twenties I you know and we're everything in our thirties happened and we're still her sub dog tweeting not the band and yeah sub yeah instagram and storing not the people certainly like they're not definitely the state doing it you know but so Justin yeah Bieber so loves I felt and Internet like it was just fight a so kind of an anthem I'm more sure Haley her has then taken to a Justin page from that people are book like oh it's for Justin right and it's it's just like to me no it's not because this is the thing this was is the toxic it was all dump it was big news Ra like I that don't I don't think so it's I really think the she like stover well maybe it's I the mean leftover the song's feeling called yeah I'll kill I'm like that's you what it's not about John this walk is a song or for yeah her celebrating she put her an and what she Haley went put through it like up coming right out after of the ash this Selena right song that's was what released it does have that I feeling don't know of like it's just like I some want lyrics the experience like trying to of come love between and us I'm at disappointed won't end up I good didn't get it because I think but I think it Haley doesn't but beyond to me seems very that intelligent there and definitely is no the most that's it that's what I even got from it killed yet which is head I on don't her shoulders understand of beasts three why like Haley Selena verified was even psychopaths upset about this because it's certainly but like not like and I want so I you think back it's there's like always that and one it doesn't reference person her in in any way your like this we don't mates know for sure life that Haley was upset who about even it if I don't like them and they're I not in mean love that's with them what any the more fuck fires in but them that's up what in bloggers a way that makes yeah but you the thing is not it's like be they're able all to like in their control twenties them anymore and we're in our thirties and that's who and Selena we're still sub is tweeting to Haley and sub to instagram meet it clear storing people it's like like they're yes definitely I think doing just it indefinitely you know like loves Hayley so Justin Bieber more loves than HE LOVES and Internet fight SELINA so I'm BUT SELINA sure Haley RILES has taken a page UP in from a that way that book Haley he doesn't right and it's like just it's to still me it's not that feeling because like the thing when you're was a passionate person it was all that it hate was big is distraught news because I've I been don't I don't I'm think so I really I'm think a she like I'm a Selena well maybe so I mean I've the song's I've called been that I'll person kill that's you why walk like or yeah I was she about to put say that's an why Haley people fear put it me up right I mean after they they this do Selena though it's song just like was you have released to know this about yourself I don't know it's just like not it's some a lyrics it's a it's like a trying fun to come and between us bad at won't quality end at up the same good time because it's because like I I think would like I to think be friends with Haley to me seems some very of my intelligent ex's and their new and girlfriends definitely and it's the almost most not even on the able for even someone like me killed who head on her shoulders of just beasts three like all my like relationships Selena are tumultuous verified for better psychopaths or for worse but like I've had and so one I that think wasn't there's and always it's because I that didn't one really love him person oh in your mates yeah life I who even I if feel I like don't I finished like them and they're I not in love got with them any out more of fires that them up Tumultuous in a way that makes you Shit not be able I think to like control after them anymore well after and that's who my Selena ex is who to Haley hit me I to was like meet okay I think it clear I've had enough of that it's yeah like yes I and think what am I just indefinitely wasn't like loves physically Hayley abused more merely than emotional HE LOVES any I really SELINA went full BUT tilt SELINA yeah RILES and UP then in a way was that Haley like he doesn't I'm done and like it's this dynamic still that feeling I like worked when you're a through passionate a lot of person why I needed that that hate dynamic is distraught because I've been while I'm I was in it I'm because a I was I'm in therapy a Selena and I was like figuring so I've it out I've been that person like that's why I was like like because whenever you're doing something I was about that to say you know that's you're why not people supposed fear to be doing me I mean they they or do you know though it's is just bad like for you you have to know this about it's yourself so useful to not go it's a it's what a it's a am fun I getting and out of this bad quality at the same time because what it's like is I it would like to in be friends what way with is the serving me some of my and ex's and you their know new girlfriends obviously and it's almost the easy not answer even on is the like able oh it's for not someone like but me who it always is just in like all some my relationships way are like tumultuous I for got better or to for worse oh like the hero I've had for one this that noon wasn't and it's yeah because I didn't you know what really I mean love and him that was oh because he was always yeah falling I apart I and feel he was like always I relapsing finished I got and then out I of that would step in and he would be Tumultuous like you're an angel and Shit I'd be like I think I really am after well you know after what I mean my it ex feels good yeah who that's what I hit got me from I was it like okay and I think I wanted I've had enough of that to yeah and what am I I wanted wasn't and also physically it came abused from like this merely childhood emotional believes that love any is I earned really went full tilt you yeah and deserve then it because was you exist like you have to I'm earn done it this by dynamic acting in a way I that worked through a lot that of why I needed that dynamic the sky wants you to act while I right was in and it that's because I all was in therapy shit and I that was I like learned figuring it out out of this relationship so like when I came I was out of like it I was like oh because I whenever don't you're doing need to earn something love that you I know deserve you're not supposed it to be doing I don't need or if I you find know myself is bad bending for you shit it's to so useful become to go what what this person am I getting thinks is out ideal of this that I know that I'm in what that childhood is it in what way is the serving head space me and and you know obviously the yeah easy answer is like so oh it's not what but was I talking about it always Scott is into I this in is some this way is like Selena Gomez's I got news track to does oh like the hero yeah I for mean I this thought noon about your yeah years of you know therapy what I mean and I that thought was I mean I because have only been he in was it for always like unevenly falling two years I apart would say but and he was always relapsing I mean yeah and and then I that's the would problem step in like and I've he would be like I've you're an angel done and I'd be like so well I really in am therapy and like it's you very know what clear I mean it feels good yeah that's what I got from more it more and I with wanted the entertainment business to than with relationships because I wanted through guys before and I was also able to it work came through my from own like relationship this childhood believes kind of that love is therapists earned with that you eh but deserve we it because were talking you about exist before we you started have to recording earn it it's so by weird now acting because in a way I that don't even WanNa be mean that to people anymore but the sky we're wants sometimes you I'm to dealing act with such right and that's trouble all ties shit individuals that I learned that I out have of to this continue relationship being a so little when mean I came to them out just of it so I was that like they oh stay I interested don't need to which earn is love then I deserve a nightmare it I don't because need if I then find I'm like myself okay well bending I don't want shit enter into to a romantic become union with damaged person what this person right thinks but is ideal that I know what I've that been I'm doing in lately that as childhood I just go off it's so head simple space and I don't know I didn't think of this and before but I- purely go off yeah how do I feel so when I'm what around was I this talking person about Scott that's it into that's the only I question this I is asked this myself is Selena and Gomez's for news me track I does feel yeah there I so mean I thought you about people your years who of therapy especially I thought Romantically I mean I have only I have several been in it friends for like who make me feel unevenly but two who years make I me would feel say but smarter I mean yeah funnier and that's the and problem more beautiful like I've I I've I have done I so I well think I'm pretty creating in therapy all those and areas like it's very too clear great really Vica more an more inflated with the entertainment sense business than of self with relationships and all those areas because through guys before we're just I was fine able to work right through and my I own relationship totally encourage kind especially of women therapists to have an with inflated that it will it will eh protect but you like bubble we wrap were talking truly about before we started recording my it's life has so been weird so much now better because I don't even WanNa be mean to people started like anymore even thinking but about we're that sometimes perhaps I'm the dealing bubble with was such not real trouble ties individuals really at that I again I have I to continue being might a little be called mean to like them just so delusional that they stay interested but it's which is then for me it's got a me nightmare this far because but I just then think I'm of like those okay things well and I there don't are so want few enter people into who make a me feel romantic union with damaged smarter person prettier right and Funnier but and what so I've that's been doing very lately easy as I just now go for off me to pinpoint who it's it so is simple good for and me I don't to be know I around didn't think of this it before so simple but I- and purely do I go feel off joy how do because I I think feel I used to I when used I'm around to be like this person does this person that's make me it feel that's the challenged only question I asked and myself eerie and and for all me the end do I I want to throw a feel dish there when I'm so around him you people like that's who my ex but I'm especially like that's Romantically not I have several friends going who to feel make me like feel that but who I make mean me it's feel feel some feeling something it's feeling a heavy emotion smarter but it's funnier not the right and emotion more beautiful and I I I was have so exhausted I from I functioning think I'm pretty at creating all dish those areas throwing too great for two really years every Vica night I was an I was inflated are you getting sense a of on self a scale and all from those areas eating off the dish to we're throwing just fine it against right the wall and I I was totally getting to encourage dish throwing especially every women to have night an inflated right it will it that will protect yeah you like bubble wrap no truly you can't and and my I think life that has this been song so much better kind of it does have that started feeling like even of like thinking when the fight about is that over perhaps in your book the bubble you're both was in not your real corners yeah you're just like panting really and you're looking at I around again at the I destruction that you caused might be called in your Home like delusional Yeah Oh but God it's this for off me I gotTa it's go got Ikya me this far but I just think of those things and there are Oh so my few God people so who make then verse me feel two I even smarter tweeted prettier some of these lines and because it was Funnier just so heavy and so that's very easy I gave now my for me all to pinpoint and who they it is all good know for me it to be around Selena it so simple love and that do I one feel because joy you know because you're I think I are used always to I used to be like I mean does this basically person make heterosexual me feel challenged relationships the woman's and always eerie giving and way all more the end do I want than to throw you tore a me dish down when and I'm now around it's showing him in like two that's months my ex you but I'm like laced that's us not like it going was to feel easy like that made I me mean think it's feel I deserved some feeling something it in it's the feeling thick a heavy of emotion healing but it's not fuck the right emotion and yeah I was so exhausted fuck fuck fuck from functioning we'd always at into a dish blindly throwing I needed for two to lose years you to find me the stance every it night was killing I was me I softly was are I you needed getting to hate a you on a scale to love from me eating off yes the dish to throwing such it against a good the song wall yeah I was getting to a fucking dish throwing love it every and night I love I right love pop music that because like yeah Tarot cards no you can't it's so and vague and that I it think can just that this be song relate kind of to anyone it does have that feeling that's of like like my when the favorite fight thing is over about in it your like book you're both this in is your about corners me yeah she's speaking you're just like to panting me and you're looking now around at the destruction yeah that you caused I was like in your Home Yeah Oh God this I was off talking I gotTa to go my Ikya therapist about how when Oh you my God I so was then like verse two complaining I because I had even gotten tweeted dumb some of these lines to because it was issue just so it heavy was like yeah it I was gave like my all Kinda and dumped they then all kind know of it you know not Selena but like love that you one know because you basically know you're guy was are like always I was into I a mean guy basically and he heterosexual relationships was into the woman's me always and then he was like I giving I want to be single way more and I was like okay than you tore me down well and now it's showing if you want in I two months that's you I'm going to end laced up wanting us like to it was easy be with you made me yeah think I deserved if I keep it doing in the this thick all of just healing fuck I'll just keep trying to be yeah what you want fuck me fuck to fuck be we'd in always order to get into what a blindly I want I needed and to I know lose you to I've find done me this the stance pattern it was I'm killing me not softly gonna do it again I needed to hate you to and love me I was yes talking to my therapist such news like a good are you song sound yeah depressed a fucking and I was like I'm love not it I'm just and NAM I love or whatever I love pop music and he because was like like well Tarot if cards you had to guess what it's feeling "Credit card and auto fill does work by a camp mattress. Like, that's a bad user experience. Yeah. Because it also means that you probably have to go. Find your credit card and fill that form. And yes, it It was funny. was funny. Like, the u I could be perfect be shiny and beautiful of all sorts of. I don't know it. Yeah. Trying to CSS whatever. But like if auto fill doesn't work on like gone. So that's a that's a good example. Like, you can have a good UI, but terribly US so one that has kinda maybe on the not so much the auto fell but shopping carts in general, just pick whatever shopping site, the you're on they allot of them do this. It's like put something in your cart. And then it will take the card or whatever. And you're like continue shopping. I mean that makes sense, but you hit the continue shopping, and it doesn't take you to where you left off. It takes you all the way back to the top of the page on a lot of clothing sites. You've probably gone through a lot of things already. Thanks now. I have to go find my way back to where I left off. And then keep going. This is not continue shopping. That's like go back to the start of Ikya and then walk through the lines again. 'cause like a key has got those nice little. Exit through the gift shop. Is that a good answers that the is that your friction right there? Pop up. Oh, that's good. You don't another on that drives me. Just nuts. The IRS flashlight. I mean, come on how many times you actually used it. And maybe the maybe this is just me. But we've actually use it or you've just hit it. And it turns on it self need even know it was on. I accidentally turned it on a lot. But I also do intentionally to. Okay. But that's good. But I think it's the unintentional point. I don't like the placement. I don't think it's valuable. I think on the flip side. I think Ryan to ask about good. You ex- experiences issue. We can get into some good. You just your shopping cart example, reminding me that one user experience that I've really enjoyed his shop affi-, which is like a platform used across different ecommerce sites where if you've shopped with shop before you m- the minute went to E mail. "Cut. My those really good to be back. Sure. Feels like it's been forever. I walked in. And I was like. My old home ground. Ben we two weeks. Yeah. Yeah. It's been a feel like it's been a long time. Right. Yeah. Because no just kidding. Just two weeks a fortnight. Weeks for the video game right now. So it's supposed to optical topical reference. Is your hair darker, maybe? Yes. Yes. Yes. Done some things. Do you like it a little different too? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Just not completely done. So this micro laid her. So I'm kind of on the lookout for people's. I I wanted to micro blading. I don't know that you need to look really cause. I full right there filled in with. That's what it is. But I'd rather not have to do that when they're microbe-related. I could just wake up and go, I know, but then like you wake up with no makeup on. And then you're like, oh, my eyebrows. You know what I mean? No, it'd be like thrilled like my really done. Did this need just get hers. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. They're they're really intensive. I of that's your thing. No. I just mean like in general. Oh, no. I love to have my eyebrows. Look like they were done all the time. Yeah. Well, I've been moving I so I the other day I'm getting into your decorator for my house, it's taking awhile as far as like picking out and ordering and it coming in. But I noticed my patio could use a little upgrade, and so I- tiled my outdoor patio like with these Ikya outdoor tiles, and I have never felt more pain in my life than my back right now. I I think I I don't know if I pulled it out. No, if I have a pinched nerve, I don't know what the tiling of your back patio. Yeah. Let me pull looks at right. Yeah. I want to thank you. So this is the before. Okay. Yes. And that's the oh, wow. That's fantastic. But yeah, really truly injured myself in the process. Here's the thing. I post mated the tiles from my key to myself because it was a Sunday. And I didn't feel it cost me a lot of money, but I didn't have to go wait in the lines and fight the crowd. So to make myself feel better about post-meeting. I kid tiles. I was like I'm just going to do it myself. I'm not 'cause normally I would hire like task rabbit or something it I was like I can do this on my own. So I did it. And then as soon as I finish I stood up. I was like something is not right. So I notice was like, you know, I haven't been working out or anything somewhat. Maybe it's just type from like bending over standing up. So that night. I get a massage thing that inflamed it a little bit. So I go to get off of the massage table, and I'm not kidding. I was like bent over. And I didn't think I was going to be able to stand up straight. I like had to slowly just like move my body. I is the first time in a long time. I've cried from pain. Wow. Yeah. I was like sobbing. I thought I was going to have like a panic attack or something I did take a painkiller like a hardcore painkiller and it helped. But even still I was still like had to, you know, lay with the sleep with like a pillow under my knees..

"Each with a little effect each contributed fairly it is the accumulation of all those variants, and I like to use the method for of going to Ikya on assembling a table. And it is all those screws little ones that make the table table H one has small contribution. But to altogether. Create the table, maybe a silly metaphor. But I think it's useful. I hope you're not buying tables with a million screws. Okay. So you have sounds like a clearer picture of the genetic contribution to addictive behavior is that a fair summary. That's right. And from that, we can get a few things and one of them is we can identify particular sites. As I said earlier that were very confident are really associated with the trait, and those sites are going to be in or near particular genes, and as biologists we can then start to try to understand. How is it that that gene is changing the way the brain works is changing the way a person or an animal would would respond when posed with the choice between a smaller current reward or larger future reward? We really want to understand as biologists. Exactly what's going on in the brand which sells talking how talking to and maybe even how can we intervene in that process in a way that might be useful therapeutic? So that's one of the things that we're trying to get the other thing. We're trying to get is a kind of genetic signature or the ability to score people based on their Gina type to score them on how impulsive do we expect them to be even for people who we haven't directly measured impulsively in. And that allows us to look at other samples say samples where somebody had done a genetic study of attention deficit disorder ADHD and to ask whether or not this genetic signature of high impulsivity is associated with or is related to the genetic signature for say risk of ADHD or risk to become a smoker or risk to fail to quit smoking. Once you've started those are some of the socio we actually did see using the status so that we could really demonstrate that the delay discounting high high delay discounting or low delay discounting is a risk factor for various things relevant to drug abuse and other psychiatric disorders as you alluded to earlier addiction has a significant impact on so many people. There's an economic impact is emotional impact relationship impact. And there's also shame and stigma associated with living with these conditions and having these behaviors, absolutely. So how do you bridge that experience that pain in that cost with what you're starting to get clarity on with these new studies about the genetic factors that contribute to some of these behaviors these a great question because we are currently facing an opiate crisis, for instance, in in the US on many people dying a results substances Zola's are under-diagnosed where also facing in research that AT scenario that is highly underfunded as well. So stigma place bec- close. There seems to be a negative label associated with substance UC saw those, and it is interesting because no one tell you. Oh, you can choose to have a heart attack. Right. Silly. To say someone. But yet it seems that for substance UC. So those so much could say you could choose to not take trucks might annihilate to quote a sentence that Nikki mentioned that it was trying to feel a whole which wasn't his full. So you could say that there is for this position if you will at tentative predisposition, but that it was his responsibility. And so what I'm trying to get to is that there is a predisposition. And this is what our research shows that there is a biological route to this conditions, but that the effect of the environment is very powerful so to contradicts another classic sentence of a junkie will always be a junkie. That's certainly not true. And we can do lots to change the environment onto develop better treatments. And this is what we're trying to do with research were trying to reduce the stigma, but showing that there is a biological contribution..

"There must be some happy middle ground. The problem. The movie appears to be addressing that men seem to insist that masculinity is an essential thing must be preserved. So they pull back against commercialization hard and over-correct in the direct in the direction of militarism to reclaim their masculinity. If masculinity leads to just over correction than perhaps, it is masculinity and commercialization that need to be adjusted. This elegant solution of accepting emasculation is not necessarily a bad thing. While still fighting to humanization would be the human male version of the penguin realizing can no longer fly. And simply sliding which seems to fix the problem quite well consider how says he's jealous of Marla because she's everything he wants to be. Well, the only difference between Norton and Marla is that she can have all the same disdain for the trappings of modern culture. But because she's the woman she doesn't have some corresponding terror an existential dread having to do with losing some supposedly precious masculinity. This is why Marla becomes the penguin and Orleans dream and also tells him to slide at the end of the movie Norton embraces Marla, finally ready to accept that. He doesn't need to fight me doesn't need Ikya furniture. He just needs her. But in a very deep way, it implicates, how all men need to embrace the more feminine to move forward in the modern in the modern world, the bombs go off representing that. We. Might realize the solution only after it's too late from Shane. Wow. I never thought about that. So Norton's characters based on the biological evolution of penguins. Maybe it's just another way to read this, very dense. Very awesome movie. Interesting. Yeah. I heard the thing about Hangland's being flightless birds. But I had not heard it taken to that place, which I think is really smart interesting. Yeah. Really cool. We have some smart fuck and listeners do. We have some smart live live Chatters to have. Let's say that you mistakenly mistakenly or unknowingly drink three penis wine, and you find it delicious. And then afterwards, somebody tells you that it's three penis wine. What do you do? I don't think I'm going to drink it again. And I had, you know, there was like this breakfast buffet, and I go to get this corn beef, and that's kinda strange that you would have, you know, tater tot casserole on the menu but also eat it up because I love tater tot casserole. So it wasn't a half hour later. My uncle's like that corned beef and I was like, what do you mean court beef? He's like, you know that that big ole heap of mount of of meat you had on your plate this morning. I was like. That was tater tot casserole. Wait a minute. I love corn beef hash what is corn be? It's corn beef in ATO's and you cook it all down and. Oh, all right. Yeah, it's not bad that you're, you're making it sound like no course beef. That's all it is. It's corn beef, and then it's your process it down, your cook, it, you stretch it. You cut it up really small with potatoes. I like to put onions with mine, salt and pepper. You cook it all together. Can't go wrong with that. All right, I feel yeah, I feel better because the way bows throwing it out there. I thought it was something really fucked disgusting trying to change the subject tot casserole. I was misled data talk casserole son, so much better than corn beef hash. All right. Let me let me put it like this three penis. Wine was the best thing you ever drank. We'll see. For me, it's a moot question. I would deaf. Drink three penis wine. Because then their employees would have off game. Stop open on thanksgiving for the first time. 2017 Stein mart and shoot carnival closed after being. Open in previous years. So there's a list of huge retailers that are balking on that whole idea of the specials, and I say good for them because they never have competition. Amazon is crushing everybody with the crazy delivery that costs like, you know, hardly anything and what they offer online. Jeff Bezos, is brilliant. He's he's like doctor evil taking over everything, right and left or dot I capitalist. But that's the thing with Amazon gotta look over your shoulder because where are they going next? And it's interesting. It's great that they're not doing that. Because why let people have a break, man. Let them have a break. And maybe instead they'll be gaming all night long. And then. Miss.

It's it couldn't have been easier to set them up. I will address the next segment to you the rest of you left. The ready you want any of the sound of a nail gun saying the same things you've heard now for a week straight on every show in the history of radio and television. But for those of you want to hear something other than a nail gun going off on this issue. I'm giving you a little science, and we're looking into the background of the accuser, Dr Ford the most famous Ikya tryst psychologists since Freud. And I discovered discovered that she pushes mifepristone which is the day after drug the morning after drug argue for six she pushes mifepristone to treat depression. So now, I want you to come with me with your imagination to the to the Senate hearings that are will occur on Monday, and Michael Savage, the Senator from California instead of the witch who belongs in prison. So Senator savage gets to ask Dr four couple of questions and the first thing, Dr savage says the doctor Ford is good morning, Dr Ford pleased to see you here. As a fellow scientists may I ask you. You're very interesting studies using methods. Chris don't argue for eighty six to treat depression are intriguing to me. Dr ford. Did you or have you received any funding directly or indirectly from the manufacturer of this abortion drug to do your research? Well, you know, what would happen? It would be like out of the godfather, they'd be Aurora gaveling down. How dare you bring it up? How Senator savage sit down. You can't ask that question. Sit down. You can't ask that question. You'll be the equivalent of bringing in the cousin from Sicily who doesn't say a word and silences the witness, but that's what would happen. But that's why I'm not a Senator. That's why I am a talk show host because I can ask these questions with impunity you can't. And so for the rest of you who are interested in this stuff. From a different take. I'm gonna go to another study on how accurate is the memory of a child. How accurate is it? Why do you assume without a person can remember what happened in Charlotte? So clearly, well, we don't know many of you were led to believe things happen to you as a child during these last twenty years of pop psychology on television and whatnot that you were molested or something happened to you. Maybe it did happen. Maybe it didn't happen. You have no evidence. How do you know? How accurate is a child's memory twenty thirty years later. This is science on the issue imagination. Inflation is what it's called imagining that a child event occurred. If you just imagine it it inflates confidence that it actually occurred important study by Gary manning and Loftus and Sherman psychedelic bulletin review. Nineteen Ninety-six volume three issue to to to to fourteen and listen to some of the key words, many of you went to college, and you took some psychology. Here's what they conclude about childhood imagination childhood memory. People often imagine the past as being different from what it really was. That's the first sentence in this article. Did you hear that clip? Is that amazing people often imagine the past as being different from what it really was. Many investigators have argued that people spontaneously imagine alternatives to real events more in some settings than in others. These mental musings called counterfactual thinking have far reaching implications. They influence judgments of regret perceived happiness and causality and I can read more read you the whole study, I want to speak to the end of the scientific article because they give you the methods of the study and all as they do in scientific papers..

So basically as you drink that water is going to get transferred into. Your Fitbit data, and you know, as you need to drink, it'll start glowing, which actually might be kind of disruptive. So think about it in a darkened classroom or movie theater. You may wanna turn that glow functionality off. Oh, I would like you would just suffer water. So I know that I'm hydrated. But I couldn't find a bluetooth one that had a remote. So if anyone else has found one, let me know. I did find some on Amazon, but I can't say I've used them or heard of anybody who uses them and almost all of them. They did have remotes, but almost all of them also head speaker built in which actually might be nice as well for playing some music, but I cannot speak to the quality of them or anything. That got it. Okay. Yes. So I found I recommend the Ikya trod fee for fifty dollars. You can barely get away with it. So there is a dimmer in a bulb, and then you have to buy the hub for thirty dollars. If that appeals to you, it's going to have a wifi component. I was trying to avoid the wifi component, but I couldn't. So those are the two things that we thought might be a good gift for someone going away to college that are under fifty dollars. We also found one other thing that you may love or hate. The Phillips makes a up late alarm clock with a sunrise simulation. It also has a clock in there. So this is about fifty bucks on Amazon. So this might be good if you have a roommate that doesn't like to wake up as early as you do, and it might also be a nice way for someone who may not be used to. "Quick plug. A local entrepreneur ta McCann has started a new podcast, which I go very Hickey about. It's all about kind of health hacking biohacking wellness that's called how to live to two hundred. So maybe we can go listen to them and we'll get some tips. I'm totally one of those people who only put stock in like health studies that are all they're all more correlation than causation, but I dismiss them all unless it's something that's like a glass of red wine a night is gonna make you to one hundred or like eat dark chocolate. It's the secret to eternal youth, all the rest of them. I'm like, that's garbage. Yep. Cherry pick that data Monica, like a good reporter. Caitlyn, what about you? So I'm moving into a new place at the end of this month in New York. And if you think the housing record in Seattle is that I have news for you. It's really awful in New York, and I've been furniture shopping because we finally have a place, but I've actually been drowning in like dreams of Ikya in slotted beds and putting together furniture, you know, I always think Ikya is one of the most like ingenious technology's very basic. Anybody could probably put together and I key of, okay, maybe I just have a particular. I still. I'm always just impressed with like, got all these slats of wood and some screws and some of those weird little wooden rod things and have a piece of furniture now. Yeah. But I, I also lived in New York and definitely remember the time that you're talking about when I graduated from college and was getting furniture and moving into any place. But I've decided in recent years, like I'm not going to shop at IKEA or Wayfair or any of these companies anymore. Because if you move a lot like each of those pieces, I think it has one to to like take down and reassembles in it before it starts to fall apart. And so if you're moving all the time, your stuff like doesn't really last and you end up spending as much over the years, replacing cheap furniture as you might spend on just like a quality thing. So my rule for myself now that I'm only going to buy quality stuff, but that means I just don't buy furniture because it's expensive. Flawed rural. I mean a lot for a lot of students, they just sell it resell it instead of just taking it down and putting you bring it to new place, especially if they're moving out of state, which I'm really banking on. I'm I'm in a lot of Facebook free and for sale groups. So hopefully I can, you know, maybe lug like a dusk through the MTA get money. That's the subway for those who, oh, that's the New York's. Although I did see you tweet earlier with someone had brought in entire grill onto the subway. Wow. Which was really impressive. I'm very, I'm very impressed by that. Yeah, because how do you get it through the turnstile? Yeah, the New York subway. The turnstiles are actually the worst. I can't even get my slick suitcase through there so they must have a wheelchair accessible place. Right? You just gotta pretend it's the thing. The MTA is actually very inaccessible. One of like the least accessible public transit systems in the nation. I know forty nine teams of students that might be able to help them with that problem. Hey, they just got a new head of accessibility, so call him up already. First of all, I want to make a plug for the Ikya Calix shelf. That's the one that's like the square boxes. I have yukking three of these in my apartment. What's going on here? No, I just love this show. Yeah, I can't hit us out. But no, just this. I have moved with the shelf, so many times that has never fallen apart, and it still holds on my books, which is all I ask it to do. But my real random channel, I told you it was going to be one thing, but I'm actually going to switch it. So as I may have spoken before about the office, I go on Facebook for almost one reason these days, and it is a group that is dedicated to this older couple's foster kittens. They foster kittens all the time. My boyfriend's mom actually added me to this group because she knows them through church, I believe, and it's just the progress of these kittens..
