"Really great job. You really nailed that, Michael. I just want to say outstanding work in broadcasting. Great athlete, great actor, great humanitarian. Well, I mean, great broadcasting for you, Michael Hopkins. You did a great job. Oh, yeah, I appreciate you saying that, Carrie. Doing pieces like that, to me, it just means so much. It really does. And I'm glad when I have the opportunity to do pieces like that. And I'm going to do a lot more in future shows. I have other things lined up that I'm committed to do. Well, I think it's going to just jump out of the microphone and out of the speakers. Very much so. And just having you to be part of all of this. And we're just real proud. So this Thursday, yes, throwback music. We've been kind of killing it this morning with all kinds of wonderful things and great talk. And I want to remind everybody about the Salon TV network, which is kind of taking shape. And I'm just really excited about it. Oh, so am I, Carrie. Oh, yeah, Michael Hopkins. So am I. I'm excited about the fall on the ground because the Salon TV network really is going to epitomize promotions. And then around the hair and beauty industry and what we're doing here. But also kind of unite us. And so we'll be talking about a lot of the broadcasts that you'll be able to see about some of the things that are on the network. We'll be doing some version of live broadcasting as well. We're going to cover shows. I'm going to shoot what's called B-roll footage and other things and be out there with all kinds of stuff. So this is just the beginning. Just the beginning of what you guys are going to see and how this itself is going to be very much life changing. I got to say, this is the best I have ever seen black. Wow. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Very much so. Whoa. Is this the same platform? And I believe it is. It's just one point. And that's the way it should be. It's shocking. I love that. I got to say. So we are grateful to the folks. So listen, Michael Hopkins, awesome job. We are just killing it today. And so much. Why don't we just take a little bit. I want to take a little bit of a break. And when we come back, we're expecting some guests in the next hour. We're going to also chat with Mike a little bit more about what's coming up season three for this. That talk radio and so much more. Plus a lot of surprises. I think we can roll out some on the show. And I think we're going to be doing well for that. So listen, here's a little bit. Nicole Marie also did one of these tribute pieces, like Michael did for Jim Brown. So here's the one that was done. I think we did one on Miss Tina. I'm going to see if I can find that one that Nicole Marie did. I think she did a great, great piece. So let's take a look and see if we can find that. Do you remember that, Michael? Was that not fantastic? Oh, very much so, Carrie. That was one of my favorites from Nicole Marie. It really was. Yeah. Well, listen, let us see if we could take a little listen and we'll be back. Stay with us. More Michael Hopkins, more Carrie Hines on the hit radio morning show. I'm listening and you should be too. Stay tuned. This is a girl power moment honoring the one and only Tina Turner. Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock in Brownsville, Tennessee, and her family lived in the rural community of Nutbush, Tennessee. As a young girl, she sang in the church choir. Turner began her career with Ike Turner's King of Rhythm in 1957 under the name Little Ann. She appeared on her first record Box Top in 1958. In 1960, she debuted as Tina Turner with the hit duet single, A Fool in Love. When Turner walked away from years of abuse from Ike Turner, the one thing that she fought for was her name he had given her. Turner declared that she would be the first black female rock star, and she understood that she had the voice, the talent, and the work ethic. Turner achieved her first and only number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with What's Love Got to Do With It. Better Be Good to Me and Private Dancer were both US top 10 hits. Turner's success continued worldwide, and she became a superstar performer and was referred to as the queen of rock and roll. Her music inspired generations with her dynamic, powerful, and electrifying voice and performances. She broke cultural barriers and impacted the music community.

"Big no you do not but i'm just saying even at a sporting event where you'd think like oh is you know what is this crowd going to be like you know i i there are just more of a lot more of us than them right it's just the the fact that like you know we have a capacity for them that is not okay that behavior what i love is is are that people saying i don't care how you pitch right once you try to pitch us is not okay right and we've been saying i don't they've been celebrating almost every company celebrates pride for years what is going on what is going on with this year did they just you no know john said it perfectly earlier like it's like the reality is that these people have zero imagination and creativity and so they haven't come up with a new slur so they they gotta go back that their hate is so not it's so not even retro cool it's like ridiculous right and i always you know we keep talking about the theme about don't cave to the bullies that drag show at air force base was cancelled after pentagon leadership means i i just say don't back down to these bullies that are screaming about drag shows you know what made me think about it yesterday i was like mrs doubtfire that was such a good movie whenever i see that movie on have i to watch it because it's just it's such a good movie i was like these people hate mr it's true but isn't there a homophobia inherent in that too but it's okay when they know it's a straight okay a straight actor that's funny absolutely yeah absolutely but it's all it's just the most ridiculous it's it's irrational i think it's i think it makes more sense to be afraid of quicksand because we haven't as you know is that very racist quicksand yeah by the way is that the genesis of your spider -phobia because it was mine tarantulas in the 70s because remember they were in every member every episode didn't and they make that sound effect like a transfer there uh -huh right yeah the size of like a vw so it was the size of them that was disturbing you know if you escape the quicksand movement yeah that's true yeah okay tracy in uh mesa arizona you're on with frangela hello hey there i called in to talk about harry carrey but i called in last friday when frangela was on and and uh i had a tina turner story which would you rather have oh i either one you choose okay well in 1993 i was working with a guitar player who used to be an i turner's band oh wow we're playing at a we're club in san diego ike and his final wife live just north of san diego and they came to our gig and he invited us to his house afterwards so we finished the gig at three o 'clock in the morning we show up at the condo just off the beach north of san diego he answered in red satin pajamas uh uh he had us in he showed us his yeah he showed us his studio and but the reason i wanted to tell you about it is that every wall had multiple pictures of him and tina on it even though he was with his final wife wow so he was he he absolutely knew that he had messed up and killed his own golden goose so that was it i just wanted let me know that okay that was kind of a downer of a story that was your harry carrey story um is that is that happier can you close yes when i when i moved here when i moved here in 86 from denver i got a job at a local uh family -owned music store in mesa and uh it was right by harry and steve's which was owned by harry carrey and steve stone and and we eat lunch there two three times a week and during spring training harry would be in there after every game holding court and he was the most entertaining thing in sports broadcasting during a rain delay because the budweiser would be flowing yes and he would start doing all of his his stupid stuff so anyway i didn't mean to take up too much time i'm glad the story didn't end with him being punched by ike turner so thank you very much i'm heading on a happy note because because what stephanie well you don't walk in the liver what cirrhosis of the liver it's okay it's so what all right you don't walk up into his house no don't go into ike turner's house that's like going into the shark's house yeah you know what happened to tina in his house yeah let's look the forest is the bear's house you get you get what you deserve when you go into i turner's house have you seen any movie about what happens in ike turner's studio okay hi d in boston you are on with brangela so hey everybody i just have to tell you about how i was blind in my 41 year old black business on my bicycle yesterday in boston and this pickup a poor white dude rolled down the window and gave me the middle finger oh no i you know and the crazy thing about it is that i'm an activist here and you know typically i would expect that uh you know protesting against the fashion on any other day but i wouldn't mind it my business okay no they feel empowered yeah they feel empowered and you know what they're cowards because they were getting on the ramp to go to 93 south and what they do is they got to target people um minding their business when no one else is around before they you know they harass people so just be safe out there and if that does happen to you you know definitely speak out but the thing is that if you're alone be careful no i am d i don't know if you know if you've seen my social media but i my bike crew is an african -american bike club but the major taylor and we were riding and some guy did the same thing he was a bna hole he almost cut off like our whole group when he was you know you know changing lanes and one gal like rolled up right next to him and started like you know and i was like i looked at the woman next to me i'm like i didn't know we were i didn't bring my brass knuckles because i know that's right but we all fight that's the rules that's the rule we gotta roll because we gotta roll yes everybody got a fight if there's a fight and you had if you were if you get done with your fight part of you yeah find a new one till it's all done yeah even the skinny white girl or baby got no back as they call me in my bike club i'm gonna try to match you appropriately yeah we're not gonna put you out of your weight class but but you know you and francis i don't know that might be child i don't know how we're gonna work this out but you know it's interesting i'm gonna beat that child she will but i tell you something like you don't know if it's racial or not you know or that whether it's just some people are a -holes to bicyclists know because you they i for whatever reason but you know you get nervous in this day and age right like who has a gun you know but yeah if an n -word was bandied i would have i would have rolled i would have i mean the last time i got called the n -word on a street i just busted out laughing because i was just like you're so pathetic um right what yeah like it's but they feel emboldened and they feel like they can get open away with because they can't because they can get away with open acts of assault and harassment which is what that was yeah yeah but i mean that's it's just that's the scary environment we're in though where i know other people in the crew were like come back come back you know because you don't know who's right armed who's gonna you know you just don't want to get in a situation but we can find out and we can visit them you know what what do you always say when we're on the road angela you don't have to fight you just have to look like you would you just have to make it really clear not only that because i i'm gonna tell you what really works in a pre fight is talk when you go look i don't intend to win all i intend to do is take with me of you that you don't miss you can beat me i can end up in jail i'm but gonna end up in jail with a part of you in my hand yep you gotta ask yourself what am i prepared to today frangela is why i ripped my own weave out just in case you know that's right one act of quick crazy you were good and i love that stephanie's open song salvo is i ripped my own weave out now what you got now what you got this was all right bill in new jersey you're on with frangela hi bill yeah hi uh two And then as a solo artist, I think team to turn her though really became kind of self conscious about the sexuality of her performances. And that got toned down later in her career, but without diminishing the impact, but she was just like a tsunami on stage. Without ever losing the control that she had she was a great singer, she did fantastic interpretations of rock songs. Everybody knows proud Mary and what a wonderful reading that she did of that song. She kind of rode that edge where she just seemed like she was going to go out of control, but she was always supremely in control. What have we lost and how do you see her influence today on other performers? She's somebody who's symbolic importance is as important as her artistic importance. So many women who have been in difficult relationships and struggled took her as a model and when you watch Taylor Swift suddenly on stadium after stadium, young artists like that, having that level of success as women artists, they all owe a debt to Tina Turner. "I've ever seen a Turner has died at 83, the unstoppable singer and performer leaves behind a legacy worth remembering. As she hit her 70s, Turner was still dominating the stage, even though she had a difficult life horrifying marriage full of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Ike Turner. She had more than enough energy to continue. She just always had this passion that you could tell I mean, you could see it in her eyes when she was on stage. She always had this sort of fierce glare that she would just give to people that you would know that don't mess with Tina. And of course, you know, most of it was an act that was just part of her persona. But I think she really just channeled all of that. Again, to look at everything that she persevered through in her life, it's really kind of no surprise that she was able to still be up on stage in 2008, 2009 touring the world doing all these things on stage with her voice with her legs. Don't forget, she's Mick Jagger's big inspiration for his dance moves also. Not to mention all the singers that she has influenced over the years with her volcanic voice is really amazing. "I'm Hillary Howard really glad you're with us. The Queen of rock and roll is gone. Tina Turner has died after a long illness in her home near Zürich Switzerland she was 83 online tributes are discussing Turner's volcanic voice. The incredible dance moves and so much more over her 60 year career. Joining us live Melissa rougie, national music writer for USA Today. Hey Melissa really glad to have you with us. Thanks so much. Thank you both for having me on. I appreciate it. You know, we talk about Tina Turner, and you get the question, where do you begin? I mean, this woman had such an extraordinary career and what she overcame after her abusive marriage to Ike Turner and how she blossomed into a completely new woman. Tina Turner seems to have taken control of everything that was in front of her. She really was incomparable. I mean, that's really the only word to describe her. And you know, as many layers as there are to her backstory, as you mentioned, the abusive relationship with Ike, running away with literally change and a gas card in her hand to get away from him, and then that in itself is amazing, that she was able to do that. But then the fact that she became what she did at age 44, that is unheard of. The fact that she got on MTV with what's love got to do with it the fact that every record label said no to her, that we're not interested in you anymore. You're a nostalgia act. And she said, no, I'm going to persevere, and they said, great, you've got two weeks, give us an album. She turned around private dancer. And from there, that was the next 30 years of her career. You watch the videos and you just see the enormous energy, even when she was doing her farewell tour decade or so ago, in her 70s, she was doing these amazing things on stage. Where did this spirit this energy come from? She has some stamina. I will say that. I've seen her in concert several times, actually. And every time you just marvel at somebody at her age at the time, doing what she was doing. And she just always had this passion that you could tell. I mean, you could see it in her eyes when she was on stage. She always had this sort of fierce glare that she would just give to people that you would know that don't mess with Tina. And of course, you know, most of it was an act. It was a part of her persona. But I think she really just channeled all of that. And again, to look at everything that she persevered through in her life, it's really kind of no surprise that she was able to still be up on stage in 2008, 2009 touring the world doing all these things on stage with her voice with her legs. Don't forget, she's Mick Jagger's big inspiration for his dance moves also. And not to mention all the singers that she has influenced over the years, as you said, her volcanic voice is really amazing. Hey, very quickly before we go, she influenced Mick Jagger, but musicians oftentimes live on after they've died because they've influenced so many younger musicians. Anybody you can point out? I look at Janelle monae sometimes and I see some Tina Turner and her spirit. You know, I could definitely see that. And aside from even just influencing musicians, don't forget she still has a musical that's out there that's still touring. People are going to get to know her story on and on and on. She will live on in various forms, even if she's not with us anymore. Melissa, thanks for the remembrance as we really appreciate it. Thanks so much. Tina Turner's life was a roller coaster, hit songs in the 1960s, leaving an abusive marriage, becoming a superstar in her 40s and having her life turned into a hit movie. She recorded songs like proud Mary, nutbush city limits, and river deep mountain high with her ex-husband, Ike Turner. Turner's first solo album flopped, then she released private dancer and her career was bigger than ever. Angela Bassett played her in the film what's love got to do with it. "The legendary rock Queen Tina Turner has died. CBS's Elaine Keanu says she lived an extraordinary life. The 8 time Grammy Award winner was known as simply the best. From the rose to stardom with the act started by her ex-husband Ike and her classic proud Mary. Left a good job in the city, but it was not until decades later that she revealed that relationship was plagued by abuse. Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier says Turner blossomed when she got away from the abusive Ike Turner. The second half of her career because in the first half it was just this groundbreaking artist in this music that everybody loved and second half, I think that people saw or survivor who was doing things on her terms. So you know, Turner died peacefully at her home near Zürich Switzerland today after a long illness, she was 83. A year ago today, Veronica mata lost her ten year old daughter test to a mass shooting at an elementary school and Yuval, Texas. We have to learn how to relive our lives because our lives are not the same in our lives will never be the same. So there's always that peace missing. 19 students and two teachers were killed in the attack, President Biden spoke at The White House today about the massacre. "I was I implied sexuality without being sexy with the body. You never saw any dance movement, provocative provoking. Gina Turner sold more than 150 million records worldwide, won 11 Grammys was voted along with her ex-husband Ike Turner into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and on her own in 2021. She died peacefully today at her home in Switzerland after a long illness. She was 83. CBS News special report, I'm Christopher Cruise. Only don't well, let's continue this story with the Anthony decurtis he is The Rolling Stones contributing editor. It's great to have you with us, Anthony, thanks so much. It's my pleasure, though it's a sad day. It really is a sad day. We were talking a little earlier about how everything about Tina Turner was so remarkable. The struggles of her life, how she turned it into music and became arguably the best performer of the era. I mean, where do you even begin with here? Turner, I mean, obviously she made her mark initially with her husband, Ike Turner. You know, I think everybody knows the story about how she was horribly abused within that marriage. But then became a solo artist and really one of the most successful women performers in the history of rock and roll. She was supported by artists like Mick Jagger and David Bowie, but Tina Turner understood that she could become as big as they are, and she did, you know, she played stadium shed enormous hit records, one scads of Grammy Awards, you know, she really just did about everything that you could possibly do as an artist. It is almost impossible to describe the energy that she exuded on stage, both in her vocal performance and in the dance moves, but triforce. Yeah, well, you know, tuna Turner I mean, I just heard her say that she wasn't provocative on stage, but boy oh boy, you could have fooled me when, you know, those performances with Ike Turner were just extraordinary. And then as a solo artist, you know, I think team to turn her though really became kind of self conscious about the sexuality of her performances. And that got toned down later in her career, but without diminishing the impact, but she was just like a tsunami on stage. But without ever losing the control that she had she was a great singer and she did fantastic interpretations of rock songs. I think everybody knows proud Mary and what a wonderful reading that she did of that song. She kind of rode that edge where she just seemed like she was going to go out of control, but she was always supremely in control. What have we lost and how do you see her influence today on other performers? Well, every woman who in particular, you know, she's somebody who symbolic importance is as important as her artistic importance. So many women who have been in difficult relationships and struggled took her as a model and she, you know, when you watch some Taylor Swift, suddenly on stadium after stadium and handed enough, just enough enough. Now it's time to go out the door. So sorry, go ahead, Anthony. No. Young artists like that. Having that level of success, you know, as women artists, they all owe a debt to Tina Turner. Alec Alec hunt words, Anthony, thank you so much. We appreciate it. Thank you. Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony de Curtis

"These were much smaller shows in songs than she had experienced with. Considering the level of fame sheet achieved with ike and tina review. Tina worked tirelessly in music. Gigs movie roles as well as features on other ardor songs throughout all of this. Tina never lost. Her determination are also wanted to highlight that record. Companies were treating tina as if her career was already over as they didn't believe or want to support tina as a solo artist. Tina had so much opposition in not many believers when she ventured out on her own but she let the stopper did she let this paralyze her keep her from what she knew that she could do. Absolutely not tina's career took a turn around nineteen eighty-three when she'd recorded a song titled let's stay together a hit that was originally made by the greek al green. Another one of my absolute favorites. Finally tina song was a hit in the states and overseas in one thousand nine hundred four tina signed a record deal and recorded her groundbreaking album private dancer which featured the iconic. What's live got to do got to do with this album and song would win. Four grammys including record of the year in sold millions of copies world wide. What's love got to do with it. Was number. One and tina became a well. Deserved international superstar from this point on tina. Continue to make hit records give incredible performances live on tv starred in multiple movies and was the author of a new york times bestseller autobiography. That autobiography was later turned into the iconic movie. What's love got to do with it. That depicted tina's heroin abuse under ike. That was released in nineteen ninety three. The soundtrack featured new hits recorded by tina. That would go on to be double platinum. Tina continued to record and release revolutionary hits and was eventually inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame with hike in nineteen ninety-one tina second solo album was just as successful as her first and another one. That reached the top of the charts. Another one of tina's iconic hits titled the best actually would outsell her previous hit album private dancer just to give you an idea of what sort of success. This woman was experiencing. What is the most impressive. Is that although tina was in her late sixties at this point. She'd had a fiftieth anniversary tour. In two thousand eight that will sold out for the entire tour. That is two years from two thousand eight to two thousand nine and a wonderful happy twist. Tina married the love of her life. Erwin balk at the age of seventy three and twenty thirteen. Tina received a lifetime achievement award in twenty eighteen and in twenty twenty one. Tina released the documentary simply titled tina. Which was her final farewell tour fans in life in music which. I highly recommend to watch you guys. Tina was i mean it was just like there are no words. It was incredible. Tina is alive and well living in zurich switzerland as a swiss citizen with her husband. Ike turner her former husband and banding died in two thousand seven from a drug overdose. I loved this story. I mean so many reasons. The element of tina coming from a broken home going through such incredible trauma. I can relate to that so much.

"Two protection against disease. I should mention that a CFP is less CDC Advisory Committee on vaccines and if kids develop these symptoms, the CDC says it's totally fine for them to take an age appropriate dose of Tylenol or ibuprofen to alleviate the effects. Another thing that was announced in today's meeting is that the CDC is working on new guidance that will likely say that code vaccines can be given at the same time as other vaccines. Tell us more about that remind us what the policy has been. Well. When could the vaccines were first authorized back in December, the CDC recommended giving it out on its own, with a two week gap between getting that and any other vaccines. They explained today that this was out of an abundance of caution. You know, now that 150 million people have been vaccinated, mostly without severe side effects. The CDC is now saying it's Likely that common vaccines can be safely given with other vaccines. This would apply to all the code vaccines available and two adults as well as teens. But it's especially important for adolescents because it means that they can get caught up on other vaccines they missed during the pandemic. At the same time, they come in to get the covert shot. You know, In the past year, there's been a 15 to 20% drop in this age group for getting vaccines for HPV, meningitis and tetanus, Okay? So where will teens and preteens be able to get the covert vaccine? Well, it's the same Fizer vaccine that adults have been getting, you know, it's the same two doses spaced three weeks apart, so they will be able to get them in a lot of the same places Adults currently can, though, where exactly and what kind of permissions or proof of age, Lonely toe have will very state by state The Biden administration is making a big push to get pharmacies and pediatricians ready to give the fines of vaccine out and later the summer, Administration officials told my colleague Tamara Keith, that there's gonna be a big back to school push to reach young people before they go back to the classroom. "You can't talk about me, Emma. Well, that's why I'm like, you know, in the, in terms of the birth of rock and roll music with Ike and Tina Turner, there's a whole nother movie that can be made about how that band, you know, the the King's of Rhythm came together. They're and they're very cuz the relationship between the members of the band was really, really complicated. Like Tina Turner was dating the saxophone player before she was, romantically involved with Ike Turner and do you wouldn't suck other channels that just have been the Rope? Yeah. From a roadie about about, well, as much more about Ike, and Tina. Yeah, he said he said, Tina didn't do drugs, but he said don't feel sympathy for Tina cuz when they fought sometimes seen it would win, sometimes I could where they don't tell that story that she goes. Sometimes Tina with kick his ass wage Tina. Turner still says when her mother and father were fighting that her mother usually would pick up a wall, see the plywood and beat up her father, so she probably said like, like going home and I do that too but I am telling you that cuz it sucks up the legend. Feel sorry for me but you need Tony. Other thing that made me go back. Said that when he when they toured with the stones and whoever I used to sell Coke to everyone, that was the side hustle and that he would make, Tina, Carry the Cross cuz no one was going to ever search her. They would always search the guys in the band, but Mr can go through, like I said, but I said, that's Gene cuz come on, they were only paying them x x amount of dollars, but I've made five times that shutting them all Coke, loved it, loved that. So that's my, that's my Tina T here, really good things about data, cannot cuz I know people that have worked with her that made her clothes and it's all good sunshine and light, you know, like their John's. We dug in deep cuz we talked to Larry, King Edward's about event hot chocolate who invented the the wigs of her Nineteen Eighty-Four wigs. You Know What's Love? Got to Do With It and Tina claims that dog. Mike Wallace interview on sixty minutes that she did those wigs and then dinner comes from Africa. And do you know any human hair that comes from Africa? Made for wigs going there? But I think she was just like, you know, you you know, like where does it come from and shoot just like fuck. You want to come from Africa? I think that that calculated Shady answer. It was very funny. You going to ask me this stupid ass question. I'm going to give me this stupid or answer and we found out that Tina. Turner off the wig stylist and hair stylist to Farrah Fawcett, the Bee Gees and Olivia Newton-John from Grease, the movie. We're on a on a made-for-tv special with Olivia, Newton-John age, and it was there, that, that connection was made. And, and she hired him to give her that new look cuz they wanted, like a punk, kind of rock and roll new way. Okay, didn't hurt. Yep. No one, she knew once he showed her how to do it, she continued to do it. Cuz all the people that I talked with said, she does her own hair but she sits and so's pieces in wigs, ships and cheeses and rat is going to be some on the floor. I have a hundred stories of people that said, she's back there beating up a hair mousse. Yeah, I guess, like Tina Turner's, very resourceful, obviously, and certainly knows her wigs and no stranger, you know, like 20-something her own wigs, too, but she buys them from other people too. You know. And it's like, it would make sense that there is a collaboration. There is a note. I always think it's funny how they always have to claim something. Like Michael Jackson was taught, how to do the moonwalk. Yeah. But he never thought that someone came and taught me, you know, I might have developed it once. They show me, you know you do this, you do that, you do that, Bob Fosse did the moonwalk in, in that movie The Little Prince turn off. It wasn't for a while but I saw I saw a clip of a show from The Cotton Club the woman did the moonwalk she did a cheap work. She did the moonwalk and she didn't get one of those dances at the kids do and I was like everything old is New. Again, look at this bitch, breaking it down and 1933. So there you go. How's that been for you? I mean you know you've been living in the pandemic in New York City. What's your, what's your future going to be like it was, it was a challenge. Yeah, it was a challenge but no, I feel the World opening up and actually getting some really cute opportunities. And I did a I did a film that wrapped the day before the pandemic. And so I guess that's going to talk about. I'm going to do a book in June. I'm talking to you wonderful Sissy's and you know, like life is life is okay. You know, I, you know, I got a save Money from the government that money that government costs came in handy. Like, you know, a man sister. She, you know, it's been a learning experience in an adjustment. I come on. When you get to be on the other side of fifty, you used to some shit going down. You just have to roll. You're like diarrhea, says you go to roll with the punches better, keep it moving wage final. Hrh her Royal Highness. Well, back in the day. When when the boys were Beauties, were exploding sitting New York City on fire used to do like a monthly show at the Saint and then the tunnel and you know it was a bunch of everyone had their characters and I did Frosty and off the frosty, Cantina a Frosty and Patty and Connie did Donna Grace and go, can do anything for Glamour. The closed the show Bob, I'm a more and and Connie would you enough is enough? Where in the end they would like literally beat each other up. It was the show stopped. So Connie went to Paris the first time going to pack and we were booked to do this show and so I had to do my part and Connie's parts and by the time we got to the finale glamour more with Barbra Streisand and she could really beat my ass. I was going girl you take it like I was battered and bruised and I came offstage huffing and puffing and master was like you pulled it off. You pulled it off. Oh my little princess he was like princess Tiandra. That's your new name cuz I was just Diandra. So then the Princess Tiana took off and then he got all highfalutin and he added to hrh which I hated at the time cuz I thought people would think. Oh she thinks she's Sophie. It was said hrh about but it was Matthew dead. And for years, I hated it. But now I Revel in it and I love it and God damn it on. Be coming back to you today. Is he still with us? Matthew still with us. I believe is living in Arizona. He was moving around for a for a minute. I had a friend recently that was coming across country.

"So excited. So the lighting and suddenly, your lips are touching my life. It's a very different, very different feel, you know. So, I was told the Diana Ross, like, in some way, she was kind of a drag queen, cuz when they first started to perform, she was known as like a hand dancer and they were lip-synching to songs directly. And then dancing with their like, making hands hand gestures. And yeah, and then then the singing came along. I am. Musically. When you look at the moment though I can't take anything away from them cuz they're Pioneers. Oh not. But Mike is interesting because every woman in you know, around Tina Turner's Time. Rock and Roll was invented, all wanted to be Diana, Ross. They did not want to, you know, or or screen like the music. But I think if I look at but I think if you look at again, let's talk about social climate, right? You can think about it Diana. Ross Dionne Warwick were these black women with these wage pop voices that became that were very palatable to what was going on. No, we didn't want us, you know. I remember hearing, you know, reading an interview or reading reading something and they wage Tina and they, you know, they were like this wild jungle animal and blah blah blah and they talked about Patty screaming and yelling and all of this. And if you think about the early sixties, you know, black people were dead. Not of black people were coming, still coming out of the great, migration of the thirties forties and fifties. And it was about for some people it was about assimilating and being packable to white folks and Tina Turner was not doing that. Musically like you listen to Nutbush City Limits and you know what the speed limit, you know, off clean. What's amazing about too is that, you know, they said, I could is the guy who came up with the first rock and roll song. Rock Rocksino becomes the queen of rock and roll but Rock in 88. Yeah, you know you you look at you look at Ike Turner with Rock and ninety-eight. You log truck bearing with Like My Ding-A-Ling and Roll Over Beethoven. And and so you know, they were smack dab in the middle of early, race records and so dead. Here they are creating and shifting, and changing black music. And then, again, you turn around and you get a flip, you know, like big mama. Thornton's version of hound dog. Sound, like a hell of a lot different than Elvis Presley's version of hound, dog. And that's, you know, part of the plot of Dreamgirls to write, but either Elvis was, but they even talked about Elvis for singing color of music and black music. I'm not going to use the other word that they called it. But, you know, they talked about Elvis, four years, singing black music. And so I think if you look, you know, music is what I do. It's a, it's very much my world. It was a, it was that thing, I look at those artists and it's something about.

"Last week and you documentary was released about the megastar. Tina turner simply titled tina. This comes from the american directing gio. Dan lindsay and tj martin who made the twenty eleven oscar winning sportstalk on defeated. Tina is a chronological retelling of the artist's life. Who was born anime bullock in the cotton fields of tennessee and adopted the stage name. Her ex husband ike turner gave her throughout her career. Like is a strong presence in the film their relationship and the violence towards it by him. It's been well reported is still constantly dredged up and interviews time and time again keen to avoid repeatedly reliving that trauma. Tina decided in the early nineties to tell her story in a file graffiti and the movie. What's love got to do with it. Starring angela bassett. A hope was that this would answer. Everyone's questions about her past and she could leave it there but of course the thirst for a sensational headline was not quenched. Gems continue to fixate on ike despite teen is far greater solo success. And so this is one of the tensions in tina. How to tell tina turner's story like is of course a huge part of it. It would be remiss to the him out plus the footage of the i. Continues of stage is incredible. But the main focus of tina turner's story is the determination of an extra ordinarily talented performer to overcome the struggles of an abusive marriage and funds. Success in the music industry eventually becoming one of the world's biggest rock styles. influencing everyone from mick jagger to be on say over several decades we watch a move. From the r&b she made with ike to vegas variety shows to pop producers in europe where she finally found her audience.
