"iguodala" Discussed on Schlereth and Evans

"Sharpe about? We'll tell you next. And Evans with what's trending. Right now. John morant will not be charged with any criminal charges from Glendale police after having the firearm in the nightclub the other night after the nuggets beat the grizz, the comment from the police department quote, there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime. Now this does not mean at all that John Moran is out of the out of the Woods at all. He is still facing what could be upwards of a 50 game suspension from the NBA, if he did indeed bring this gun onto the team plane. And if that's the case, he could be looking at a 50 game suspension, also Shaquille O'Neal trying to give John morant some mentor advice. I'm not going to jump on a kid. He know what we did was wrong, but remember, he put himself in the position. You don't have to go live. You got to pick your phone up, swipe to find Instagram, get on Instagram, swipe again, hit the live button, wait for it to connect. Are you sure you want to go live? You got to have enough conversation to know that I wasn't going to go the way you wanted it to go. You're not a rapper. You're an NBA player. I think that John Moran is going to learn his lesson. Grow up. 'cause this is a great game. You gotta be careful. These are the kind of mistakes that you're going down a road where you can just absolutely sabotage your career. Let me ask you this. Sabotage of a God given talent and blow it all. What do you do if you're Michael silver? Not only John Moran, but what do you do to the Memphis grizzly? Oh. How come you look at me? Did I say the wrong name? Yes. Let's add Adam silver. Yeah, what did I say? Michael silver. So if it's Adam silver, because theoretically, I know you're on a chartered plane, but you're going, there's a security process that goes through and you're not allowed to bring a weapon, you have a house stringent is it. Well, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. If the Memphis Grizzlies are just letting guys slide by and you're not, well, I'm not just saying the grizzlies are letting you flown team planes your entire life. Is there any security that you go through? Well, mine was before all the security stuff happened. But when should I start flying private? When my son was playing the big leagues, man, like you'd leave a road stadium, you'd go through, they'd have security, they'd have it all set up so you had to have everything looked at your bags before they loaded them on the bus and then they drove from tarmac and they jumped on their tigers Detroit Tiger plane, but you had to go through all that stuff. So, you basically, I'm like, not only should John morant be looked at very stringently, but so should the Memphis Grizzlies. Shannon Sharpe was having a fireside conversation, literally. It was by a fireside. With Andre Iguodala, a name that's kind of mud with nugget fans because when Iguodala was with the nuggets in a playoff series against Golden State, he was accused of giving away the game plan to then warriors coach Mark Jackson. And as it would all explain explained it, the scouting report, the game plan for the nuggets was to rough up Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, and at one point during a game during an inbound play, Mark Jackson walked up to Andre Iguodala and said, what are you doing? What are you guys doing? And all Iguodala said, well, I don't like to play the game that way. And as he said in the interview, he said, you know, I just want to be, I don't want to resort to that kind of stuff. It's about, are you better than me or my better than you? So anyway, he called out George Carl for not having the proper adjustments and for making him look bad in the eyes of nugget fans. George didn't have an adjustment for them boys and them boys beers. Right. And typical George, George won't run with a narrative that he gonna run away from what it was. Right. You just got out coach. Right, you didn't make any adjustments. So look, for some notes and he's done it throughout his career, he wrote a book, and he had some things about young African American men and his reason for why they aren't as successful under him is because they didn't have fathers. He said some things about some African American players that have didn't take too kindly of and we haven't seen George in a while and he's just looking for attention, so you'll see him on Twitter every other week, just looking for some controversy and just looking, you know, to bring his stature back up. George responded on Twitter by saying there are two sides every story. And Shannon, let's talk. Obviously, without does not like George Carr. Man. But when you hear Iguodala's response, okay? So his response was, hey, look, all that was said during the game. And he goes, I even kind of confronted Marc Jackson about like, why did you throw me under the bus? Because after the game, but it would all thought was just kind of a throwaway comment. Yeah, you know, I don't like to play that way. After the game, Jackson comes out, yeah, one of their players told me that, you know, this is the way they're playing and even they don't like it. So is Iguodala unnecessarily being labeled a villain here, or was he labeled a villain? Well, I would tell you, I would tell you. It's not your fancy. You'd bring up Andre Iguodala's name to this day and people are like, that guy. I will tell you from an adjustment standpoint. If that's your adjustment, we want to play real physical with these guys, and we want to slow them down. We want to do that. That's your coaching adjustment. And your team doesn't want to execute that. Is that a coach issue? Is that a player issue? Because there have been plenty of games where a lot of played in games where we're like, hey, man, this team is more talented than us. So let's physically wear their butts out and take you that advantage away from them. That's that to me is good coaching. Like if you're really assessing your team versus another team, there's no question the Chicago Bulls, Jordan rolls are more athletic than the Denver. I was going by the old

"So there you go. Trade history. Well, this is a good full circle moment here, though, because the Iguodala deal like he plays in, what was it? 80 games for Denver? Yeah. That year? Golden State had that slot. They knew, depending on how they're building out that team because I remember what was happening. It was like, oh, wait, they're going to end up with Iguodala. And it was like this multifaceted Iguodala had like a really weird start to his career too, because it was like, hey, the two AIs and is he a point guard and it 20 5 point a game guy? What is he? Yeah, he's just kind of a basketball player and we didn't appreciate it enough because you get taken in a certain point. It's like everybody wants you to check all these different boxes. It was like, no, he's a little bit of a different evaluation. But he's still really fucking good and everybody would really want this guy on his team. And in Denver, he has this really good run, but you figuring what the asset part of it, like Golden State's able to sweep in because they make those other moves, and it was like this targeted thing. And then he becomes kind of like, you want to talk about how dumb timelines are. Iguodala was just somebody they thought fit and then they had all these younger dudes. Like Iguodala was the older statesman of this younger Golden State crew at the very beginning of this. Yeah. They made two great moves. They did that. The Golden State, like going all in, and Iguodala knowing how important with blue guy who was going to be in better than that. But I mean, an overqualified glue guy. And then the other one was resisting what was it, Klay Thompson and David Lee for Kevin Love? Which was on the board for them. For that whole 2014 season, basically. And a lot of meetings, I think it was split in the organization where they want to do that or not. But in a Cleveland Klay Thompson, David Lee basically turns into draymond and then, and then they have Iguodala and there we go. And then we have a little mini dynasty. So that's it. Drunk, drunk trade history, sober trade history. I don't know. We need a good thing, but for all the people in that trade, it's crazy that Orlando won it going away. Like they're like secretariat. And then for the Lakers, it really did seem like the axis of the league had shifted when they got Dwight Howard. I was like, oh my God, Dwight Howard, and they end up getting Nash, they trade some first for that. Number two. I want to go to the dance. All right, that's it. Still need a sponsor for that one. When are you doing your podcast this week? We'll have the Utah show the Salt Lake show with Larry marketing is our guest. We do an extended life advice. So there's a little open there. So I know live podcasts aren't exactly everybody's favorite. We try to do enough for everybody that they're going to come out on Monday. And then we have a tape along with Brian Curtis and I just talking about the media with another life advice so we'll do Monday Wednesday and then I'll be back. We're not going to do next Sunday and then I'm back. Next Sunday and then we're back for good after that. Right. Did you tell Laurie marketing that my wife thinks he's super handsome? That was her big three point contest. Takeaway. Who's that guy? He's handsome. I'll send a send a pic of the two of us. We had a real connection. I have a really good friend from Finland, his son's name is Finn. And big finish people, great people, salt of the year people. So yeah, I got a picture for him. It's a good example. Every once in a while this happens, right? It happened with Isiah Thomas, the other Isiah Thomas that the Celtics said where the guys just kind of bouncing around and you know he's talented, but he can't find the right team. And then suddenly finds the right team. But it makes you think like how many times this didn't happen. Or how many guys were just floating around and just never found the right situation. He's an example like he could have just been three, four more years, just, oh, this guy's in front of me, or I'm in the wrong offense, and then it finally comes together. Now his discount Dirk Nowitzki. Yeah, no, we talked about it a little bit. But I mean, he was freaked out because he was like, man, when I went to Arizona, I thought I was going to be there for four years and then by November, December, they're like, yeah, you have to be one and done. You need to go. I just got here from Finland. Are you serious? All right, that's it for the podcast. Thanks to Priscilla. Thanks to Isaiah blakely for producing. Don't forget new rewatchables. Monday, whiplash, going up Monday night. See you then. See you in this feed probably not until next Sunday unless something crazy happens. Take care. When we saw that said I don't have feelings with it pull the wayside on the front side. I don't have to ever

No. 10 Marquette beats Georgetown 89-75, takes Big East lead

"Tyler Cola cam Jones and oso Iguodala each scored 14 points to lead a balanced attack as tenth ranked marquette won their 20th game of the season, beating Georgetown 89 75. The golden eagles shot 57% for the game and 48% from three point range for head coach Shaka smart. The fact that we had 8 different guys make a three. It says something about our offensive versatility. Also the way that they share the ball with each other. The wind moved marquette into sole possession of first place in the big east, the hoyas fall to 6 and 20 on the year. Craig heist, Washington

"To unbridled capitalist ambitions as these companies race to market. Tim, we're talking mushrooms. Yeah, we talking mushrooms again. They're all over the place. First up this hour, one company that's managed to defy tough conditions. Last week, Johns Hopkins joined andreessen Horowitz, Kaiser permanente, NBA star Andre Iguodala, and others in an $80 million series B funding round for incredible health, pushing that company into unicorn status. The platform connects hospitals with nurses and other healthcare workers. Carol Ann Bloomberg news senior markets reporter, Katie greifeld, spoke with cofounder and CEO, doctor Iman abused, about the new cash infusion. So it means that we're now the highest the highest values that enables career marketplace for healthcare workers in the U.S. today are evaluation about 1.65 billion. And for the first time, we've had our customers health systems, including Kaiser permanente and John Hawkins, invest in our round two, which really positions us as the leaders in healthcare hiring. So maybe an obvious question, but this latest round $80 million, what will you be using the money on? When you think the money in three key areas first is an R&B, so investing in the hiring workflow and automating it with machine learning technology. And that includes automating the screening, automating the matching, just so it's increasingly more personalized and more automated for both the healthcare workers and the employers. We're also going to be investing in career resources for nurses. And so they're using us over the course of their entire careers. That includes still growth scheduling services, educational scholarships, cost training, all of which is completely free of charge for nurses. And so we are the place where they manage their careers. And then frankly, just expansion, expansion beyond nurses, and beyond hospitals, because right now we're serving those two markets primarily and have had ambitions to support the rest of the healthcare workers and healthcare employers too. Explore the platform with our audience to remind them exactly what you are doing, who is on it, how many people and really the growth

"Game 5. It was like, we're actually without Middleton. We're actually better than that team. Even though they have Giannis, give him 40 and 50. We're still better. Miami definitely better. It was like really weird flow it to this crazy Miami team. What the hell is happening? Golden State actually might be better. This is the most alarming moment of the three times 'cause I actually think Golden State that Gary Payton stuff, Gary Payton, 28 mentioned 26 minutes tonight, 6 for 8, had some great cuts. There was that inbound Iguodala. He just back cut. How many back cuts did they have today? It feels like gold states getting better. As I said, I cut Marcus a lot of slack, but one thing I can't cut him slack on is falling asleep on an inbound pass in the NBA Finals, like you only have to concentrate for 40 minutes. This is the most important two weeks of your career and when Gary Payton junior cuts back or Marcus sound asleep. Like just watch. He is asleep. Like, this is not interesting enough for you to pay attention for the entire 40 minutes. That's what the worst thrive on that though. They're dying for those 5 times a game when somebody just gets caught napping. Cat napping. Or they're looking at whatever and all of a sudden their guys behind them going for a lamp. So I think the movement they have the fact that Wiggins is clearly getting better. And you could say when Peyton got hurt in that Memphis series, how upset they were. One of the reasons they were so upset is because they didn't think they could win four straight rounds if they didn't have him. He brought all the athleticism and defense and these things that they just, nobody else on their roster had. So now it makes more sense when you see he's just become more and more of a factor. So it seems like one team is getting better. The other team's getting worse. So we head to game 6 Boston. I guess the silver linings would be as follows. Games home. That's great. More.

"Now I feel like you know what it feels like, and that's when I started to buy in when I had all the stats. That were telling me when I got a proper amount of sleep versus the stats. When I didn't get the proper amount of sleep, now I'm really excited about getting to bed on time and when I'm in that bed by ten 30 and I'm about to put the lights out and I'm already ready to go to sleep. Thinking to myself tomorrow I'm going to crush it. So it's all about how you look at it and how you have the right perspective and trying to take care of yourself. No doubt, before let you go a couple of quick questions here. We talked about your rehab, how close to the end of that rehab are you? When are we going to see you back out on the court in uniform? Yeah, hopefully at the end of it. But as you know, the older you get the longer it takes to get back to yourself. So I feel like we're getting better and better by day. It's taking me longer than I would like, but you know, as part of the process, and you've got good days, you have bad days, you know, we always joke in NBA, players would no longer sitting out because sitting out is not fun. It's not a break. It's actually more work. So there's a lot of hours being put into this rehab and. The scary part is, you know, we tell ourselves we rather play hurt than rehab. So I'm trying to be patient because I've come back too fast once or twice this year. And I'll be back out there somewhere. We're going to see you before the end of the regular season. That's the plan. And on that note, as you and I record, this is going to post later than this, but as you and I record this stuff just went out with that foot injury. Steph clay and draymond got exactly one game together so far and we don't know when stuff will be back now. What's your concern slash confidence level with this team going to the postseason in a few weeks knowing that your big three really haven't had that much time on the court together this season? Well, I think as long as we're on the court, I'm confident. So, you know, just praying for the best with the recovery and hope when we get opportunity to really go at it full throttle, because our finals, all our final start, last year, a lot of our finals except, I think, 17 with the exception of 17 and 18, I think, too, you know, you had some weird injury strong in there. So hopefully we can get full squad and give it a shot. Well, there's one thing we know, it's that you guys have pretty much seen it all and done it all by now, so probably there's no one thing the NBA season can throw at you guys that would be daunting and hopefully we see a fully healthy warrior squad when you guys hit the postseason. The film again is the quest for sleep folks you can find that at quest for sleep dot com and you can watch the film there. It's also in select theaters, Andre Iguodala, part of that..

"Now very pleased to welcome an 18 year and that part is relevant to this conversation. 18 year NBA veteran Andre Iguodala Andre, how are you, sir? Oh, we're live. We're live to take. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. It's an Evan Turner who I'm doing a podcast with .4 is one of his famous moments in sports history where he cursed while he was doing the media for Philly and he got in big trouble. He cursed twice and then he decided to say, oh, we're live. And it was like, what did you think this was? So he didn't get enough sleep that night. So his brain wasn't working properly. There we go. Way to bring us in with the topical anecdote there. I hope I haven't got fined for that. Did he get fined? That's a great question. I don't think so. I think it was a game that honest mistake response and he was okay. He survived. All right, well, on this podcast, you can curse all you want, Andre. We don't bleep anything. So it's all good. I mentioned 18 year vet at the start because I know that the only way that somebody makes it this long into an NBA career is you have is just incredible attention to detail to health to nutrition to training to everything, which obviously includes sleep. So the quest for sleep is the documentary, you are among the featured people in this, how did you come to this? What drew you to it? And what are the own your own sleep challenges that you've had in your career that made this of interest to you? Well, I have been doing a lot of things in this space. I had tracked my sleep a few times. It's been in a few books. We did a few fireside chats on it. And. It's just been in my ecosystem. It's become a product of what they call it, the brand. And you know, law of attraction, but connecting with folks who have similar interests and saw this pretty cool Doc and got involved in it and it felt very organic and I'm big on organic natural ways of feeling. And it just worked out, you know, part of, you know, always say, once you've mastered something, it's your job to go back and teach it, you know, one of my duties, you know, teach these kids how to have longevity, careers are shortening up, you know, pushing them in and out and just getting their minds and their bodies right. Do teams actually talk about this at all Audrey because when you came into the league 18 years ago, there was not nearly the attention to nutrition and sleep schedules and everything that there is now our teams today are the warriors and other teams actually addressing this with guys because you talk about telling the young guys, but I wonder how much they're also just being guided on this and the importance of sleep for recovery and everything else.

"Get a head start on that chemistry and that blending for next season. But yeah, listen, again, without knowing anything about his medical records myself not being a doctor, I still, I lean toward like I hope they don't push him back out there too soon. I want to see him healthy and training camp next year and see what this team can do then. Before I let you go, pop recently gets the record passes Don Nelson for most wins and NBA history. It's a milestone. He's had many others that I think are probably more significant anyway. But still, it's a milestone, and I got you here. So give me your best family friendly, Greg Popovich story. Okay, well, it's not a story. I think it's a description of who pop is. And it's funny because now as I sit here as an analyst, I can ask all the time if I want to coach. And if I ever blessed to be a NBA head coach, I learned so much from Greg Popovich. I would take into that roller position. One of the things that I really understood at that time. At the time, you don't really practice the content. Because remember Howard, this isn't the great Popovich in 2022. Yeah. This is the Popovich in 1999. He was just getting started. He had won a championship yet. You know, we had a meeting on a bus in Houston, midway through the season because we got up to a rough start. And we felt at that time, a team of players only meeting, if we didn't win that game, papa's probably going to be fired. Think about how that would have changed, of course, the history, NBA history, not versus One of the things I learned from red Popovich is something that I even applied to my children today at three children. And Jada, who's 16, Jordan's 11 to have Antonio who's three. You can love them all the same, but you love them different. Because what you say to one of your children will motivate them, what you say to that same child, to another child, will break them. And pop took the time to know each one of his players. Internally. So what he would say to Avery, he wouldn't say to me. Whether he was saying to me would say to him what he would say to tell me he wouldn't say today, what he would say to David would say to Mario..

"You know the thing is you want to make sure it's healthy. So this can be something that's ongoing year after year after year after year. Not just be concerned with this year in 2022. So will a green may see that big picture and understand that. David Griffin may see that bigger picture and understand that ownership might even see it. Sometimes the player themselves do not do it when they're younger. Never do. No, that's why you hear all the time, Howard. You have to keep players from themselves. You know, and you can look back throughout the course of history and point that different guys, and if you set those guys down now and say, if you could do it again, would you? And they will tell you 100% hell yes, I would. I would do it different. What I would do is I would listen to my training staff. I would listen to my medical staff because maybe if I did or if I had, I may still be playing today. You know, and then Zion's case, I understand. He's 21 years old. He wants to get back on that floor. And for me, I love this kid. I have an I have a deep love for this young man. Because I think what people lose sight of with Zion is the fact that he's 21 years old. I said all the time. We think about it. When these guys are drafted, right? When they're one and done in their drafted, they are two years removed from prom. Right? There are two years removed from where it tuxedos and limos are going to problem and now basically what we're telling them now we want you to be the face of a million $1 billion franchise. And then we get upset with guys don't know how to handle it. Did you know everything at 21? I didn't. I didn't..

"We have these back to back days of Zion doing something and then the last we've heard officially is he's cleared for some one on one. What does this all mean? What does it not mean? In terms of the bigger picture here, right? We've been waiting all season. He was gone for a while. He's having a Portland. There's all this mystery. All of this. And here we are. We are just down to the last couple of weeks of the regular season. Pelicans fighting for position in terms of the play in. Are we overreacting? Do we take anything out of this? What's meaningful? What's not? Okay, so the question to ask how it is, what did you take from it? So I can't say if you overreact and if I don't know exactly what you got from the three second clip or the ten second clip. So tell me what you got from it. And then I will tell you if you're overreacting. I personally as these sober minded nuanced member of the media that I am. Who just goes with the facts as Shaq always told us, write what you see, I just write what I see. Okay. I look at it as, okay, he dunked. Dunk doesn't mean anything, a two second clip doesn't mean anything. And with apologies to Corey brewer, driving a dunking on Corey brewer in a ten second clip. Doesn't mean anything in terms of whether or not Zion is ready to come back and whether the doctors are ready to clear him, whether he's physically ready, whether the coaching staff wants to put him back in the mix at this late stage of the season. So those are the questions I have for you as the pelicans expert and insider. And you're there for practices, a lot of the time too is a broadcaster too. You guys get to see a lot that we don't. What else have you seen Antonio that gives you an indication of where Zion is in this process? And look, you're a former player who's gone through injuries and everything is everybody's different, but what is your sense as we sit here on March 24th of whether we will see Zion back in the mix with the pelicans before this season ends? I'll say, first and foremost, do I think we'll see Zion back in the mix with the pelicans this season? Probably not. Because if you think about it, we are.

"Become obviously a great head coach. Malik rose, now helping run the G league formally in the pistons front office form of the sixers broadcaster, Malik's done great. Sean Elliott, of course, on the spurs broadcast. And I think about the Laker teams I covered. Robert or he's doing in studio work for the LA for the Lakers station out there. Derek Fisher's been a head coach in various capacities, Brian Shaw has been a coach in various capacities. I think there's this, like I've noticed this over time, like some of the great teams, maybe it's not always a parallel. Great teams have a lot of really bright guys who are really good at communicating whether it's for broadcast purposes or coaching purposes, you had a bunch on your spurs team. And then after you, the other spurs additions that one championships, the Laker teams I covered just a lot of smart thoughtful people and it translates and I still see them all around the game because they're either coaching or in broadcasting and I think it's that thing, like basketball intelligence and overall intelligence translates to winning and then translates to these other careers. And you know what else translates to winning Bill Howard is communication? Yeah. You can't be a good basketball team without the ability to communicate. It can't happen. You know, if you are a good defense to team, you communicate one another. On the floor and off the floor. You know, so a lot of the guys that you were just discussing. I'm not sure about, you know, I do know Robert Ori, but you know, some of the other guys, I don't know Derek Fisher really well, you know, but some of the guys that I played with. You know, all the guys that you name. The Avery Johnson's, the Sean Elliott, the Malik roses, the Steve curves, all of those guys were great communicators. Even guys that I played with Brendan Haywood, who I played with in D.C. in Washington. Great communicator. You know, from the center position. And that guy that's in the back. You can see everything. No it's not 'cause he was a great communicator. So when you look at really good Quran butler, who's a coach now in Miami, you know? So when you look at really good basketball teams that were put together, one of the key foundations of that success has to be built on communication. No doubt, no doubt. "Daniels AD, how are you, sir? Howard, I'm good, brother. Honored to be here with you, man. Great to see you. I mentioned the championship back in 99. I'm going to circle back to that in a second. I should note we are also like, we're like kind of pseudo coworkers because you host on serious XMM MBA radio, multiple times a week. I pop in and do a shift here and there every so often, including occasionally with your partner, Rick Kamala. So we're like, we're practically coworkers, I guess, as well. Yeah, we kind of like brothers. Let's just put it that way. Because like brothers, it's broadcasting cousins or something. I'll take it. Before we jump in, I got a bunch of stuff I want to throw at you, of course, a lot of pelican stuff and certainly some Zion stuff because the man knows how to go viral. And he's done it a couple of times this week. Before I get to do that, there was a photo that made the rounds on Twitter earlier this week. You in your spurs uniform, talking to, I believe, Hank Egan coach. There's a very young Mike budenholzer off to one side of that photo, and then in the background, your current broadcast partner on the pelicans broadcast Joe Myers in the background, calling the game. I said it on Twitter. Neither of you have aged since then, I don't know how that's possible. But it's just a wild little literal snapshot in time. You guys future broadcast partners him calling a spurs game back then. Joel and I, of course, got to be friends during his Laker broadcasting days. Where did that photo come from? Was that, in fact, the championship season? What do you know about that moment? I don't know. I'll be honest with you. I don't know what season it was. Somebody sent it to me via Twitter. So obviously I retweeted it because I think it's amazing how things have come full circle. Yeah. You know, my years in San Antonio for Latinos years. Joel called those capes. And to think about how crazy that is. We're talking over 20 years ago. And now it's just, you know, I'm a firm believer that the lord has a plan. And now 20 years later, here we sit in 2022. My third season here, being the color N is for New Orleans pelicans. And my broadcast partners, Joe Myers. The same guy that was calling my games all the way back in San Antonio..

"I'm not bidding against Steph in a playoff series though. He's still electric and ridiculous and even when he's not hitting the shots, the attention that he draws is still why they're offense is absurd. When he's on the court, regardless. Okay, let's jump into this next email. How few points do you think Steph could average? And the warriors still have an elite offensive rating. If he was, I bet he could score like 14 points. And they could still just have one of the best offensive ratings in the NBA with him on the floor. I think that it would, that's a fun question. I think it would matter. It would depend on who else was on the floor. Yeah, true. You're just saying this roster, then I don't know. Like vintage Iguodala, a little bit more spacing around would be nice. Be alita, please unshackle the elites, let them be free. Oh my gosh, he's waiting to thrive. But that's a fun question. Okay, let's quickly jump into this one. It's an email from a listener named tosin. I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. Tosin rates pay squad, I will be brief. The nets have been awful with or without KD Kyrie harden and Simmons. Yet Steve Nash seems to be sitting pretty on the bench. Why is there no one calling for his head? The Lakers have a far worse squad yet everyone is trying to run a championship winning coach out of town. I don't understand, am I missing something? Thank you for that wonderful email. Roland, do you want to take this from the job? Well, first of all, I see nets fans calling for his head and criticizing Nash after almost every game I see just haymakers being thrown at Nash. Nash was awful. We lost this game because the national guy. You see that stuff all over my timeline. I saw someone yesterday being like, how could Nash be so good of a so smart of a player so bad of a coach. God, if I wish I remember who tweeted it, but I see what is real quick. Real quick. I'm clearly not following the same people as you. I'm not saying that you're making up tweets or anything or that you're imagining this nets fans is something that is just foreign to me. I'm sorry, I don't mean to shoot shots. So that's why I always say latch out who's just, you know, mixing it up in nets Twitter every day and like, yeah man, they got a fierce and loyal community on there. So yeah, it exists. What is the, what does Steve Nash doing that is drawing ire? I don't. That is what I, that is what it comes down to for me because I just don't know how you can judge Steve Nash. I thought he should have been a coach of the air candidate last year, frankly, with all the guys they had coming in and out of the lineup. And it's the same thing this year. I mean, no Joe Harris, the kairi situation was absurd. Durant got hurt, hardened quit on the team. Those are your best players right there. I mean, people are like, oh, what's he doing? He's got Seth curry and Goran or whoever guarding Tatum down the stretch, but it's not like he had a lot of options..

"Got a lot to talk about today. The Lakers coming off a win against the Golden State Warriors. So we get to actually talk about some positive things for a change. We've got a few other topics to get into that might get a little negative to some stuff about Russell Westbrook that we need to talk about as well. Joining me today might go buddy ESPN's Alan sliwa, Alan. Thanks so much for coming on. Trev, what is going on, man? Long time no talk. Appreciate you having me on looking forward to chat some Lakers off of wind. Are we supposed to win? I forgot doing postgame shows where there's wins. I was so surprised. I did our Lakers nation postgame show and I was like, I don't even know how to approach I'm used to just most of our postgame shows have become like group therapy sessions where we're bemoaning the Lakers laws and we're talking about how we're managing it and all that kind of stuff. And they won and we got to celebrate a victory, which was great. But I'll tell you what. Before we even get into Lakers warriors, something was sent to me, I think it was either yesterday or day before, that was kind of funny. They blamed the Lakers season on the two of us. And me and said the reason why the Lakers season has not gone according to plan, it's because you and I still have not played one on one basketball. I agree with them. I agree with them. You know, I think if there's one thing that this team needs, it needs you and I way past our prime to try to play some basketball and probably get if we're going up to 11, I think by the time the score is three three, I need a timeout, a breather. I might have to finish the game the next day. It's not good, Trevor. If we're ever gonna do it, we're gonna have to do it too, because I'm starting to feel it. I'm definitely slowing down. What was probably what three or four years ago when we first started talking about this at this point, I had a little bit more spring in my step back then and I had to now, I am definitely on the downside of my career there. But in any event, the Lakers, they beat the warriors, LeBron James, 37 years old, goes for 56 points, maybe it's a one off. Maybe it's just a one night thing, but didn't that just feel nice to get to talk about a Lakers win and not not be down in the dumps about the Lakers losing again? Trev, not only did it feel good, I could tell you the place was rocking. You know, it's a for a season that you've had really the emotions of only been one side. You know, there's a lot of news what was it last week when they got blown out by the pelicans about the crowd booing at the players and booing at the Lakers team. You had the loss at crypto dot com read against the clippers where Reggie Jackson is kind of kind of show bolt on the entire time. That's how the season has gone. So when you say, doesn't it just feel good to get away? And it also feels good to be at the arena and the place feels like it feels like you thought it was going to feel like all season before the season started. So it is just one game. You're right. It only counts as one game, but I think for how bad the season has gone, you started off own force since the all star break. It was nice for a lot of Laker fans. The probably enjoy their Saturday night, enjoy their Sunday. And yes, there's another game coming up on Monday, but for a quick second there, you could kick back, you can just enjoy and appreciate a way that in the process, Braun dropping 50 plus. And I think that's part of it too, right? It's LeBron going from 56 points. So if you're there in the arena, it's not just, hey, the Lakers are beating one of the better teams in the Western Conference. It's that plus we're saying something special out of LeBron James and 37 years old. I just talked about how I feel like I'm already slowing down here. What are we expecting out of LeBron at this point? I mean, I don't think they're winning a championship this year. What is LeBron have left in the tank moving forward for the Lakers to build around? I mean, it feels like every year we're talking about is this the year that he finally starts to decline and then here he is. I've been saying all season if the Lakers were like the two seed right now, we'd be talking about MVP campaign. 37 years old drops 56 points. This is unreal. So I think I've kind of gone to this point of the conversation about while the bronze is going to slow down LeBron's going to slow down. You can only look stupid so many times before you start saying to yourself, you know what, maybe I should just stop saying that. Here's the reality, trev. You know, he's talked about this in postgame shows. He talked about how he takes care of his body. Yesterday was actually, it's a perfect example. Doing the pregame show of Michael Thompson. And Michael Thompson, we were talking about Andre Iguodala, godala was out there warming up. And Iguodala's played very sparingly all season long, and we were kind of like, well, are they just going to save him for the playoffs? And I said, yeah, they probably should. And Michael goes, well, they're not saving LeBron for the classical bronze plane every night. There's a year difference between Andre Iguodala and LeBron James. And just think about how idol at his age is being used compared to what LeBron James does on a night at night out basis. I don't know why for me, that's just stuck with me. It was like, yeah, Michael is right. Like, just think about that. Iguodala is being used a certain way. LeBron's dropping 40 minutes a game or 35 minutes or putting in 56 points like you mentioned. So I think it's wise to not question anymore, well, how long can LeBron do this? I think it's probably better to just kind of kick back, relax and enjoy what LBJ is doing. Unfortunately, for the Lakers, it has it. It hasn't stacked up in a lot of wins. But yesterday was, it was a very unique performance to drop 56, but he's been dropping almost 30 a game on average. It really is incredible. He's talked about how much he credits sleep and all of that, of course, all of that for his longevity here. But in terms of the scoring, the thing that I keep coming back to, and I mentioned this a few times in the last few weeks, is that LeBron is actually getting fouled or getting foul calls at a lower rate than he has historically gotten Val calls. And it's not just, oh my gosh, he's shooting more threes. He's actually attacking the basket more than just about anybody in the NBA last I looked and this was about a week or so ago. He was second in the NBA in shots at the rim and was not far behind and the number one was Yanis taco. So LeBron is still attacking the basket. He's just not getting a lot of calls there. And that's been a source of frustration for him. This season, but when you look at the stats, if you were to somehow give LeBron just his average free throw attempts that he's gotten over the course of his career, give him that this season, he's leading the NBA in scoring, or another way to look at it is if you just take out free throws, LeBron James is leading the NBA in scoring. He's 37 years old. This is unreal and the only reason why I continue on this topic is I want to make sure Lakers fans, we got to have to take a moment and appreciate what LeBron is doing right now because this is, this is not the norm for a guy who's 37 years old to be able to do the things that he's doing. So this is the best comp that I could give. And we just saw this, you know, obviously this past season. Tom Brady was doing things at his age that is just, you can't describe it, you can't explain it. And Tom Brady decided, you know, obviously to retire one day that's going to happen when LeBron James. And I know it's, you know, I think the wrong things always unique with Laker fans because I get this a lot and you do as well. Colby played 20 years in the league. Magic never rocked another Jersey. I think there's a lot of times Laker fans have this affinity for their guy or, hey, this is a guy that's been a Laker his entire career. Put all that to the side just for a second. He played for the Cavs many years, won them a championship. Did what he did in Miami and he's got a chip with a Los Angeles Lakers. Just what he's accomplishing going out there on the night at night off basis, just.

"8 hope and why or text hope and why in New York? Tennessee redline is 808 8 9 9 7 8 9 and in West Virginia. 1800 gamma dot net. All right, Golden State. So I went to the Lakers Golden State game on Saturday night. LeBron was unbelievable, 56 points. It was like a quiet 56. It was one of those you look up, you're like, God, he's got 24? I didn't realize he had that many. And he just kept going and kept going and kept going. I mean, who knows what that Laker team? I don't know. We're going to talk about them a little bit later. We've got state though. 16 and 14 since January 1st, they looked like a mess in person. I don't know what's up with clay. Clay looked pretty good before the all star break looked like he was the arrow was pointing up. And then since the all star break, I was sitting with house because house was here. We were kind of struck by how skinny clay looked and just that he doesn't seem like the sky who could guard like every kind of perimeter guy before he got hurt a couple times. Just seemed like a skinnier and more of a finesse guy. But the big takeaway for me was the lack of draymond. And I think with draymond, we default to the defense. You know, and you think like, oh, they're missing draymond and his defense. I think they miss us offense just as much because they don't really have a point guard. You watch them. It's like 6 shooting guards and kevon Looney and but there's no kind of straw that stirs the drink. That I could see because, you know, people think curry is a point guard. He's really not. He's better off the ball. And he's, you know, he dribbles the ball up, but really he's a two guard. They really miss draymond's playmaking. And it left me thinking we're so low. As where does the sounds is draymond short term more indispensable than Steph? Because I feel like they have so many guards that replace 80% of staff scoring. But they literally can not replace what draymond does. In any way, there's nobody that they have. So at the very least, I feel like he's just as indispensable That's a pretty big statement. Thank you. I'm not ready to go there. There are a lot of numbers that would back up what you said. They were 28 and 6 with draymond. They're 13 and 12 without them. They're two and 8 in their last ten. If you look at their defensive splits, you go January to February, so the month of January. And you know, this is still draymond's last game was January 9th. So they still held up somewhat defensively for the second half of the month in those games. They were third defensively. And since February 1st, they've absolutely fallen apart their 23rd defensive rating. They've also Porter fell off a cliff, and that's why he was available. And it wasn't available. Wiggins, how about these Wiggins numbers? He's made 9 free throws since February 1st. And he doesn't even get to the free throw line. I mean, people will look back and say, Wiggins started in the All-Star Game. Like what happened? What happened there? And that was because just Gobert got screwed in the vote. Damian Lee is out of the rotation. Be Elise is out of the rotation. So there's a bunch of other size Iguodala's place that I think 6 minutes. And beginning of the year he's fresh, he looks good, and I was like, wow, this is great. I think he's played about 6 minutes since January 20th. So everything's kind of falling apart collectively, but I thought last night was a perfect example because I was at the game. The clippers game on Thursday, and I was like, is LeBron slowing down a little bit? And then I look up, you've got like 20 at the half. I go, okay, I feel stupid. And then I was going to kind of focus in on again on Saturday game. I still think defensively what draymond does, because they don't really have anything else. Like they couldn't keep loony in the Lakers game. So I mean, I just wasn't going to happen. And to not have wiseman to not be able to pick up any other thing, this is a team that I think is just beaten up and I also think Steph is exhausted from all the stuff that he does on offense and the fact that every team sells out against him to do whatever they can. And then clay, who shot it really well last month, I agree with you. Seeing it up close, he just isn't moving great, and they were hunting him out in that Lakers game. LeBron was trying to get clay switched on to him, which is not usually something you never went clay hunting when he was healthy defensively. I was bummed out by clay yesterday and so I know he was sick after the all star break. I'm not writing him off by any means, but this was a guy who was one of the best offensive guys. Yeah. From what I saw yesterday, you know, this might be a long haul. He hasn't played in two and a half years before last month. And on top of it, is redundant to a lot of other guys they have. And I think the biggest takeaway I had yesterday watching them was just it's just a lot of jump shots. You mentioned the free throws. Nobody gets to the free throw line and the whole team. If you're just looking at all the guys yesterday, curry's probably the only guy who even averages more than four free throw attempts. He's.

"Okay, so tell me some teams are a team that you feel like, hey, consensus was thinking this and I thought this and I'm right. So double middle fingers up to everybody and all my skeptics. I'm gonna get the Golden State Warriors. Now I'm not gonna present like I had them as the number one seed. But as you know, Mike, I was talking about the warriors when we were talking season preview ideas for Sports Illustrated. What do we want to do for our season preview? Should I talk about the warriors? I've been calling that, you know, a week or two ago I think I called him the most dangerous team in the west. I just, I have so much faith in Steph and Dre together that obviously last year they were playing team. They ended up not making the playoffs, but Steph was coming back from injury. They were trying to work and wise men and cursed at the beginning of the season. We're not really chasing wins. And it felt like they didn't really push like they should have pushed. This year, they still have the young guys on the roster where you look at who they're playing. It's bee Lisa, it's auto Porter. It's Andre Iguodala's been ignored has been incredible this season. He's been really good. He looks like he's found the fountain of youth there. I think Wiggins is playing very well in his role. I just think you surround Stephen Dre with capable vets and this is what you get. You get a really good team. Now I know you and Christopher let them on the pod last week. I think you guys did bring up some good points. A lot of home games, schedules been good to them. You know, there are reasons why maybe their success has been so great early in the season at the same time. They're far and away the best team in net rating in the NBA. They've been great on both sides of the ball. Yeah, I go with the worries. Again, I'm not gonna present like I thought they were gonna be this great, but I had a lot of faith and bringing in cable guys around Stephen Dre. And once they get clay back, I think the ceiling is title. I think they're right up there with any team in the league. The ceiling is definitely title. I would say for the warriors. I like how you called, what did you use the word amazing to describe Andre?.

"Super bouncy vertical athlete or anything but he was long and sometimes just having long dudes who aren't going to get killed on the primer matters. I honestly don't have anything to say about evan. Turner defense i prepared everything about holiday inn iguala essentially this. I mean it's biased. So you have to take it with a grain of salt. But i'm pretty sure steve. Kerr has listed. Andre iguodala is being wanted premier perimeter defenders like the last thirty years. And i think that would dollar said that drew holiday was basically a defensive player of the year level caliber defense. I don't think either of those are quite true. I think it would allah. Yeah in washington inside. But they're fantastic. I don't think they're both defensive player of the year level. But they were both you know. Premier perimeter defenders. Yeah in watching drew in that series like he gave ray allen problems I'm here was on like he was kinda funny because in watching drew play a current game yesterday. Just it's kind of startling. How similarly he's playing offensively than compared to now he's not laying off at all. He's right on top of you. It just a suffocating defender and showed through in using credible I actually thought out of all the defenses that i that that that we walked in we talked about if you drop the seventy sixers defense in today and obviously you're not starting spencer hawes at least i hope not Say you have elton brand out there and you put that at the four. Because that was her sixth man that you're actually no They were weird because they just played like. They played like ten guys but they gave the bench fad. Played like twenty three twenty four minutes a game in a second. Most off bench louisville was their leading score off the bench that you're actually and just leading scorer in general and let's say But like that defense would hold up better today than i think. Any of the defenses that we watch except obviously the twenty twenty teams. No that's a good point because they just don't have the dinosaurs for lack of better term in a in the center but also major shout out to rookie fitch on the bench there. Yes he actually started. Fifteen games that your. I'd forgotten that and going back through stuff because spencer hawes got injured for some time so started fifteen games but then he ends up getting traded in. What is always the bynum deal. He just trading in the bynum d twelve deal. I always forget the that was part of that and going arlando But yeah that team. Their their defense is fun to watch like audrey. Your dala andrew holiday making rotations together with thad young out. There occasionally like i don't i. It's the kind of thing where it's like. I know that they weren't going anywhere. Which i don't always agree with. I mean think about that. If you keep jrue holiday with andrea dolls twenty eight twenty nine at this point thad. They're not a great. Maybe you get somebody. I don't know. I'm i just figured out how fun that defense would be to wash me. 'cause like we're looking at this defense right now i i instead of typing things into an exile sheet like normal human being. I write everything down and my own. It looks terrible This sixers team ninety nine point two defensive rating which was five point four relative. They actually did it..

"The trade deadline is Thursday and by the way do you have an opinion on de Angelo Russell I I got to tell you this at first I was completely in favor of moving him but having gone to a few games Polly being is the partial season ticket holder and fill up man he is a beautiful score he really is and maybe the idea of him and clay and stuff on the same team is kind of intriguing you know not the roster destruction be interesting but right now the timber wolves aren't offering enough so the ways do you have to make a move though to get under attacks line otherwise have to pay a forty million dollar fine I think a lake of even as much as he likes his who concerts in his post Malone concerts and he's not looking to pay forty mil right so Alec Burks could move a blend Robinson could move yeah Amari Spelman could move Jacob everything will come on Looney could move by you gotta wonder what his future is I mean it's unfortunate because he was became such a dependable player for Steve Kerr but I mean I don't know is is he ever going to get back but the real story planned out is with our old pal Andrea you get done yeah how about this is a really weird story he hasn't played a minute from Memphis this year and by the way I think he's making like seventeen Mill seventeen seventeen Mill and I am a little unclear I've tried to read up in much again yeah one clear as to how he can just stay away like is there something in the CBA were like no you gotta come play for is like the guy in office space is again just not going to work anymore I'm just not going under you've missed a lot of games I wouldn't exactly say missing at and I by the way when it when Andriy does come back and go to practice the question is does he clean of fish on newspaper in the locker room do does the does god can offer yeah so anyway so they're going to try to move him and get some for him chained to a veteran team and now the Memphis Grizzlies having a surprisingly good here the twenty five and twenty five they actually hold the eight spot right now they do they got young players like John Moran and they got Dillon Brooks and Dillon Brooks finally just yesterday said you know what we young guys on the Grizzlies a few Andre staying away yeah you can email this
