Android 11 is final with day-one updates from Google, betas for other OEMs [Update]

"Flow you got the top story. This is the top story and yet sadly, I cannot rejoice with you all because I have no idea. Oh Eight. No Yeah I have no idea what I did with my Pixel. I tried to look behind me to see if it was over here but it's not over here behind me anyway injured eleven is official today just like just like that. Maybe you were on twitter or new saw sooner Pacheco tweeted hey, everybody Andrew Eleven is out. So it was launched today it's going to be available for Pixel phones as I mentioned as well as select phones from one plus Jami Otto and real me all on day one Now I gotta ask Ron Have you seen anything on your one plus seen anything on mine Hang on. Let me check. Okay No I'm still android ten. Checking all day. Let me tell you. Still owe an update from like a month and a half ago or something I don't know. I'm not a good example for other people. Checking for update your devices up to date android ten Dang it. It. One of these days morrow leaving tomorrow. We. Tomorrow. Some features to look forward to an android eleven or as Jason Likes to refer to it android double hockey sticks and we don't mean the other thing that spells. Bell Double Hockey sticks although if you're in California right now might feel like that. Some features included android eleven conversations, which lets you prioritize certain notifications over others in certain groups of messages as wells bubbles, which you've seen pop up maybe through Facebook Messenger there's also screen recording and new smart home media controls that are embedded right into the lock screen as well. Excuse me not lock screen the little screen that power menu, the power menu. There are also media controls in the notifications shade, any wireless Android Auto, one time permissions for your favorite APPs to make it easier for them to launch and easier to know when you need to check on those permissions. There's also again I jumped ahead I, meant those auto reset permissions those the one that will come through and say, Hey, remember this app you might want to revoke location access in like we have talked with the android developers. There's some new main line project mainline modules that have been included android eleven. so that means more fasttrack updates without having to wait for the whole Os to update itself. pixels will get some special features. So if you have a pixel, you will have access to find friends in the live you within Google maps kind of like the fine. My friends feature that's been on iphones for so long also smart reply in G Board for chat? APPS. All that is will be on all on device. You want to worry about any processing happening offscreen I guess in the cloud also, there will be more a i. Driven APPs suggestions on the home screen. You might have remembered when we previewed this in the Andrew Eleven Beta on the pixel basically it's a dynamic dock. It changes throughout the day and as your usage changes on your phone and you might be surprised how pretty accurate it can be throughout the day so. Serving you other three here. You'll know my answer I'm a little delayed on right now. How are you guys feeling for Andrew to eleven? Will you upgrade immediately or will you wait a bit Let's start with you Dunkin. I'm curious to hear about your stance on this. So I woke up this morning in Australia to Jason's tweet sign that he got the the update spend the update button. Had it installed within about fifteen minutes? So I was jumping straight on board. I didn't. I didn't do any of the Betas. So I've been waiting for this dying for quite some time. So I was very much looking forward to it of any had a little while to play with it, but I think my top free three phages in odor is the Powellmania that is absolutely fantastic. Especially, the home control about a lot of high motivation, and so that's made using that really simple. Next would be the media edification having a consistent rich Ui for controlling that is fantastic and I'm excited by the idea of the conversations notification bubble so much convince at the compensation Gruden. And this another non switches in there as well. But Not Straight on board my problems IFA. And those who opt out using Google Pie wondering if it's GonNa, break it so far. It hasn't Google play sins very tribal when you update. That's good. What Jason What are your the other one here with a pixel. Couple of pixels actually like I saw a news. Thunder Geez. I was waiting for my turn I had. To go it's your turn now and I ruined spoiler alert. I am on the one plus seven pro and normally I wait until the official kind of until I get the notification to install it do the whole rollout and I will do that when it hits my one plus or whenever I get my new Pixel for a whichever comes first. I ordered the Pixel for a for a last week on a on a whim as a it's time for a change. I've had this I've been on one plus for the last at least a year plus or so. I was like, let me go over the pixel down with low price with amid. Let me walk the walk and the mid range. Mid Range price phone and so it's not supposed to ship until October. So I might get it might get android eleven plus seven before I get the fix foray but either way I'll get there eventually

"Or less. We've seen. Samson. Lose significant sales with their thousand dollar smartphones. So they're not selling as many thousand dollars smartphones many two thousand dollars smartphones how many people are there who would actually say? Forget about all the features. Let's say this had this had everything and it had some flip out laser and could go hunting I dunno, it had thing you could ever imagine but it was two thousand dollars. It's still wouldn't sell simply for the fact that it's two thousand dollars nobody wants us well, people people do but it is a very limited number of people who would justify spending two thousand dollars on a phone. And it's the same it's the exact same idea that I put out for Samsung phones in General Samsung is all about put every feature under the sun into our main flagship smartphones and then people. Justify for themselves that I quote unquote need this phone because of everything it can do only to realize that on the daily they are scrolling through instagram never using the stuff they paid for. Now this this particular foldable smartphone makes a pretty compelling case for paying that premium to literally blow up that experience I give Samsung credit so far four providing a compelling case for a larger display to enhance your everyday experience but you have to justify for yourself. Two thousand dollars is enough to make your youtube your twitter, your instagram bigger. That is Well and consider it would like your youtube really doesn't get bigger because if you go full screen the video size that I would get on say. An eight eight pro would be about the same sizes what you would get there and even then instagram is another idea like you get. You get a slightly bigger instagram, but it's still not the full display. Yeah so like it's not utilizing the footprint at you get like the full display works really well for for typing for browsing the web and a couple of other things where you can cram a lot of content and but when you have media specifically where it's a specific form factor, it changes it up and doesn't. Offer the same value as what you would get on an any other devices and display. Yes. So that's. Said I still WANNA use one I still WANNA. Try I want to review it because the nerd in me just like the Nuruddin everybody who's listening to this podcast because let's admit it. We're all nerds and we all just want the latest tech. There's something about having that latest bit of technology that is pushing the form factors in a completely different direction and. They. Totally. Need credit for that. I don't think it's perfect yet but that doesn't mean. There's not somebody out there who would suited for. Yeah, I agree. Yes it's I. Just there's no I can't get past just the one key phrasing that I will say in every piece of content this is a fun. Phone is necessary phone. That's such a hard question to answer so hard answer. And, it's going to be relative to each user. So I, think that's our main take away so far. But Yeah I have no doubt that this is going to be like a highly rated device. Everyone's going to say like you know it's like one a really great video game comes out and it's like tens across the board but then everyone's like you know parts of it though that I don't think everyone will be into but it is a ten. You know what I mean like it's it's GonNa be one of those things. Okay, well, that pretty much should do it for this week's. The pocket weekly Podcast Nick. Thank you again A. It's a last minute addition and I hope that we're not taking up too much of your time but yeah, we're GONNA call it on this going to let everybody know where to find you. Well. You can find me on twitter at Nick Emigre, twitter, instagram or else all of my coverage for android related products on fans may dot com or YouTube dot com slash fancied. Awesome. All right give everyone well was I was about to say everyone gig around plus. Like. But yes we'll go ahead and. We'll go ahead and head over to bill. "On this thing, it's like you have the ease of a phone in a larger size and I was like that kind of strikes me every time I do it. I'm just like roaming around my house right now watching Youtube on this thing like in my face walking around almost running into stuff. But the way. makes. It feel better the. Stand and also this is very good for one handed. It's thicker on one side like a magazine folded in half and you hold it with one hand. I was thinking more the other side like the thin. Side, that's horrible will. Now and so like every, every form factor has its use cases but then every person has their use for content and devices as well, and it's not going to be something that's gonNA appeal to everybody it appeals to me because I'm a geek and I love new technology and I want to use new technology no matter if it's going to be making my life easier or harder. And I don I don't think I. would be a good judge as to whether or not. This is good for the general consumer because my perspective on it, I would be positive towards it from the perspective of it's something new and innovative rather than this actually makes my life easier because honestly I don't think he would make my life easier in any way exactly and I think. You're right. I should have Michael on at some point. Just he's one of those people that you have to like book like you got a book I'm like six months in advance. And those agent and if you and if you didn't realize by now I, don't plan that far ahead. Usually I will I will moving forward because. I'll make the announcement probably at the end of the show but. Yeah I'll ask them probably right after our show today Dave wants to be on next week anyway. Thing is. I agree with you like me not actually make essentials every single day easier. Let's easier but it might make them better because ill just make it so that you have more enjoyment with it like. I can already see Michael I'm not trying to put words in his mouth, but I can imagine him already saying stuff like, yeah. But try writing those same notes on a Pixel for a and I'm like I agree with you. Yes. Like if I wake up in the morning and I, do like my gratitude journal on this even using the split keyboard and I'm just like typing away and it's easier it's more. It's fundamentally a little bit better because the screen is bigger, it's he's joined my eyes. I can type easier because there's more screen real estate We'll probably bring up the gaming aspect like call duty mobile on this thing is incredible. I will say that. You have way more real estate and even more. It's even more like if you three I don't know how I don't know Knicks play style but I do three finger claw grip. Yeah like it's the most comfortable onscreen gaming experience over had with called Mobile. But the thing is is like. You're paying a lot of money to enhance the slain. was you already? Do you know it is to put it? You know it's It's a weird thing for me to try and justify. That's my biggest deal, right? Yeah. I mean it it's one of those things where it's Do you spend you know a thousand dollars and get? One hundred percent of the experience or you spend two thousand dollars and get one hundred, ten percent of the experience like he's yes. It does make the experience better in some situations but is the price really justified when you consider how much better the experience is and that's that's where the Geek. In me says new tech. Great always worth the price versus. I'm a regular consumer. This is a complete waste of money. You know it's kind of it's kind of weighing those those balances. They're just see you know at what point is the return on investment really. Thrown out the window and I'll say like there's no saying that if you are like just to be clear if you are a fan of this if you are. So into this that you are like, I gotTa have it. More power to you. We're not saying that it's a waste of money for you were just saying sort of general sense. It's hard to look at a phone like this when we've already been extolling the virtues, one of my favorite phrases when we've already been praising the Pixel for a for existing. Well. And so here's my thing. I could buy a pixel for a which has an amazing camera, decent performance, great software and. A sixteen hundred dollars gaming laptop. For the price of this phone actually and even less I have thirteen hundred dollar gaming laptop waiting to be reviewed. Yeah. No I'm I have a thousand dollar gaming laptop on it but like for a sixteen hundred gaming laptop that's a good device you're looking at premium product, you're not looking at a cheapo you know whatever you're looking at a premium product. That has top of the line performance I mean, yeah, you go. You know up to three thousand dollars if you wanted. But for the price of this phone, you could get a good phone that everybody has been praising with a great camera and a full laptop that could do any video editing that you could throw it video games, whatever game you wanted. and. It would. Just it would be less than the price of this foldable display phone. So what you what you get to as you're paying a premium for a display technology because it's still there they're calling this their third generation I'm still calling this their first generation display technology because they haven't changed anything with display yet to make it cheaper. The second generously rounded that yet from. Yeah. Yes. So I mean once they get to Jen to where this no longer cost two thousand dollars just because of the display. And we're looking at a seventeen hundred dollar device or fifteen hundred dollar device. Then the perspective and the conversation completely changes around that but we're still looking at something that is two thousand dollars. I mean. You can buy a car for that LACI wouldn't be a good one. I. It'd be more than a decade old. I feel like you bring that up every episode is I use that you could literally by car for two thousand dollars. Yeah. And you know what I keep thinking of why commenters would say in response to a thought like that because it is something I want to say end final reviews and whatnot. But you're such a specific type of user like you need to have the video editing and the gaming, and that's why you would get the laptop. But then I would argue back, there is a specific type of user. I would argue back that people will come back to us and say, yeah but you know paying two thousand dollars for this phone makes sense because I work in like. I worked in manufacturing and the big screen is perfect for me to like get a lot of sort of logistics died and stuff like that. That's why they have tablets tablets in the manufacturing industry and like you know this, this will give me that while still being a personal phone and a personal device and it's like, okay, Great. Isn't that a specific user to Get. and. So I'll get into this two thousand dollars on a smartphone is for a very specific users because I would say the regular consumer who would buy this and would actually need it. And could justify on a price basis would be someone who's earning over sixty thousand dollars a year. Like most people don't want to spend like people hold onto their phones for two years because they don't Wanna spend six hundred dollars to get a new phone. So, if the average consumer doesn't spend six hundred dollars on a new phone and the average consumer is buying phones that are six hundred dollars.

Intel announces its new 11th Gen Tiger Lake CPUs

"Start with Intel Heim. Today. Explain to you why they made their new logo in Microsoft word. The new logo is the future and the fact that it looks like it was made Microsoft word can only lead me to assume that Intel believes that Microsoft Word is the future of computing. It's not it's not a coincidence that that the the only real performance metric they gave the tiger late chips was that it does office productivity like twenty percent better than the tension stuff. This 'cause Microsoft. Word is the key a love it. That was really the metric that was the metric. The metric they gave is that it is twenty percent faster speeds on day to day office productivity and a twenty percent increase in system level power where there to. Metrics on the processor side, they are excited about the graphics than the processor, right. So walk us through Eleventh Jen Tiger link. All right. So Eleven Jen Tiger Lake this is you know the the classic Intel Tick Tock Mechanism last year they jumped to architecture they were they finally released their ten chips and this this is the refinement of that the announced actually end their last earnings call that they're not hit seven nanometer for at least another year plus. That's delayed. So this is a refined of version of last year stuff but Intel's hyping this up as a very big jump forward, and one of the reasons that they're doing that is that they're finally rolling out their new Z. Graphics, which are Intel's really big graphics push for the first time in a very long time it's going to start rolling out there doing dedicated GPA's and external gps, which is the thing that they haven't done for a very long time slash ever depending on what you count like one weird project from Weill. Back. But this is this is you know the first wave of that it's the integrated graphics. This is actually the worst of all their stuff. They have much more powerful stuff on their roadmap, but they're promising like big stuff. They're claiming that you know it'll run a bunch of like triple a games at ten P. on an ultra book which is impressive if it works which will have to see but yeah, that's that's Sort of where they're they're starting from is you know they're they're claiming to exa better graphics and that's sort of the base point.

New Apple-Google Contact Tracing Tool - Exposure Notification

"Apple and Google, obviously announced that contact tracing exposure notification I think is going to be calling it exposure notification system. The AP is a system where released. A while ago, there were some apps across some states that use those Api and buy some you mean like ask or maybe to her like not enough. Yeah not enough. So the next step of the apple Google exposure notification systems. It's good. It is also very complicated. So they've built the API's the phones can do exposure notification they can trade the Bluetooth keys. And they can check those you know if you. The list of keys on your phone checked against a database if any of those keys. In the database are registered as having tested positive. You get you know notification and says, you were notified person parameters that you were exposed per some parameters. The different states can set that initially required to have an APP on your phone. So the system was working in the background, but to do something like submit a positive test for yourself, you need an APP from public health authority. Apple or not taking the next step. So Iowa thirteen point seven just came out it now has the interface for that stuff built into the APP if your local health authority wants to enable in some way the. The Google site just very different and it's very android and its way the your local health authorities can give the phones, a set of parameters that will then auto generate an android. APP. That works with the framework. Yeah very complicated but why does that complicated? It's just it's so android and they can't really bake it into the the operating system without going through all of the update medications of android. So it is easier to dynamically compile an application on the phone that touches I mean that's like Klarius right. Whereas apple is pushing it. You know we've been covering very closely imagine if you've been listening to show already in the verge, you're aware of it. You just read these stories and read how it works. I worry that it's so complicated. All of this stuff is so complicated and requires so many. So many different sorts of agencies and public health authorities and hospitals and people to understand how it works to make it effective. I think now that it's here, it's time to kind of hammer on that. So I think that's the next step here, but that's good news overall. The system has been in development, apple and Google for all of the other noise around those companies, all their challenges in all their congressional testimonies, they appear to be just making steady incremental progress on this which I think is great. Can I just say one thing about these these situations situations have been complicated the Priscilla's be complicated needing them to be simple isn't just for simplicity's sake it isn't just for aesthetic reasons that simple things are nicer or even just easier to understand It's that you know situation where there are bad faith actors who will use any complicated thing anything that's. To understand as a cudgel against it. Or. As a way to like the waters. Complicated. Things actually become really problematic. It's harder to muddy the waters with a simple thing that it is complicated thing.

LG adds virtual showroom experience for IFA 2020

"LG. L.. That company is well Samsung experimenting with these virtual Maroons Taco bit about that. Yeah. So what what they've done is in honesty like virtual press conference is not that different from being there in person I mean besides the fact meeting people being able to to have kind of that in person experience. But the thing that you cannot get virtually is a demo you can't see what a phone or TV or you know washing machine looks. Like through your computer screen, you can't see what these like sharp lead TV's looked like when you're looking at them through your laptop display. So what these companies have tried to do is make these sort of virtual demo rooms. So Samsung's is is kind of dislike virtual game. They basically worked with epic's unreal engine to make this kind of I described it as a choose your own adventure sort of demo. So you're in this Samsung designed house and. You can walk around and look at different products and basically there's the way it works. was there Press Conference and people would. Would attend that but then you could say like Oh hey, I actually went to see the ports on the back of this TV so you could stay back and look at the ports or you could use augmented reality to see what the TV looks like on your wall. LG went a little differently A kind of a game experience there's appears to be more of a youtube sort sort of videos that they have on a website where it will be. Oh, here's our wall of TV's what it looks like They kind of recreated it in the sort of Messa, the convention center what it looked like F- overall is going to have a virtual component as well and I'm very curious to see what that looks like I haven't. Seen that yet since the show starts on the third right and I mean, look these are going virtual and I appreciate that they're taking these steps to. Try to replicate the demo experience but. Is that? Is that really going to replace a? Note this in your pre today that the the lack of excitement is something that served dog the industry and I think that's partly because we can't get hands on right away. Do you think that's going to be a problem with the show? Yeah, definitely. Even. With these virtual demo rooms, they don't really solve the issue of. Feeling and and holding these in your hand or seeing them up close like it's one thing to learn about lg TV that you could roll up is awesome. It's totally different to see something like that in person and see something like that on video as opposed to a video from journalists as opposed to kind of these slick marketing videos. That's a that's a very different experience. So I think this is something that the whole industry is going to have to deal with. And experiment and I talked to Samsung's head of marketing for Europe and he said that you know they decided to do this sort of game gamified experience for EPA but they could be doing something totally different for CAS like they have to figure out you know what kind of is the best format for each event? been my last question is really like do you think these these virtual rooms or virtual experiences will be around in the long run even after the pandemic is long gone. I think that we're going to see companies really re evaluate what they do in terms of events like is it worth spending? Tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend a conference in. Las. Vegas that maybe doesn't really match up with the timing for your products anyway or is it better for you to do something virtually the issue for a lot of these companies is. They don't necessarily have the cachet of a Samsung or an apple who can have their own events. So they really count on having a convention to capture a lot of journalists and a lot of interest all at once. I do think companies are going to try to figure out how to kind of keep some of this stuff around like Samsung had marketing said that that's something that they're trying to figure out is in the future. Do You kind of combine the physical and the virtual together, and it'll be really interesting to see what these companies come up with. All right. Well, thanks for your time

"Google fits and then use this really horribly design interface to like. Tell it that you're going on a run. It's it's just APPs on watches. Don't make sense to me. It's so much extra effort. Yeah the only I would prefer you naturally. Yeah the only by US including on that hybrid. You're wearing is the timer three minutes for green tea. Five minutes for Blackie. That's it on uniform. All I like this for is the fact that it tells me the time whether and pedometer that's all I care about and like it sinks to my google fit to. Yeah so probably the only the only notification that I really need from it and I said this in my last wearable in the Pixel Buds Review. The only notification. I need is telegram that way I know if you message me if messaging I know of high message. That's it. I don't need every email to come in. I don't need every comment come in like. I don't need any of that stuff even instagram. I don't care if an instagram notification comes in I instagram notifications turned off which I feel kind of bad about 'cause people sometimes I just do not see them but also can i. Can I say how awesome it is that we've gotten so many people the switch to telegram I almost? I almost tweeted today like attention. If you're still on WHATSAPP I'm no longer going to message you on there. There's there's only three people left. That are only on WHATSAPP. And I'm just like why do I go through the burden of like installing this and backing it up and then sinking and it's so annoying and like it doesn't have to have? There's a web APP for it but not a desktop APP and it's like this is horrible. The whole scan a barcode thanks. I remember having to do that with every computer. I was just like scan. Oh Oh now I have a new phone recognizing you're scanning chrome chrome updates. Its Lake and it's like I don't even know what what was the last phone I use. That had WHATSAPP on it. So I don't I don't want to like I don't want to sink my last sync because I probably messages between then and it's just so dumb like So bad I just I want. I want everyone to be on telegram. I even I even got my group to move to telegram. Well you're not using you discourse group like that make more sense. Well we use discord like for voice but telegram telegram for alerting each other that we wanna play basically. Yeah I'VE BEEN ADDED TO CALL OF DUTY WARZONE. And we're GONNA share some really fun history and information in stories and then I talk about why people don't believe or ID bunket and he talks about why people do and this topic is going to be kind of all over the place. Yeah well it's while actually. This is being recorded before Valentine's Day but it will come out after all times day but just soon after. I like the Monday after. Yeah so that'll be fine so first year. We did a valid special APHRODISIACS than last year. We did it crimes of the heart of the heart and I totally forgot about that and they still hate Valentine's because guess who's alone again this year. Some you know what I mean I. I'll see your cat would totally does it. He so loving. He can't give me a the had taken me on a day. You don't know anyways. We decided on an episode about go for it. Because you don't know how I don't I don't because to me. It's really close to aphrodisiacs. Not really because I'm talking about different things because me too. I mean it's dedicated to love about fertility and different aspects and it was kind of like love objects like a pair of marrying object started altered the yeah but we both kind of diverged bid and mine is technically true. It's a paranormal love object. You'll see I know. They're not paranormal. But they're both true are they okay. Mine is definitely definitely. Parents factual okay. That'll be a good a good like mix then fake minor. Fake just like my breasts. I want to do a whole episode though. On how? And then I'll debunk them. You don't lead them people. You're beautiful just the way you are anyways so so that I don't know what you have to do drinks history you already. What are you categorize this topic? What are you calling it does love? I guess so because love adjacent I can say what my half is. I'm actually talking all about SPEKTR affiliate. Which is people who fall in. Love and have sex with ghosts. I WanNa do a whole topic on this because as I was looking into it. It is wild and my stories. I don't present a lot of information. Actually none in the stories are really just kind of sex and so I think we could still do an exploration of the topic in the future. An I whole heartedly encourage it because yes and mine are ones are more related to fertility. GonNa save more advocates. His biological clock is ticking. So should we do drinks while he already been drinking? No I have another one. This is this is my backup drink. That tastes good. You said it tasted grows well better than the other thing I got about that. What does it okay? Well first let me get my main one so I was still and I admit when I grab this. I was still on the topic of aphrodisiacs. Because that's what we did our Minnesota on and so I found the reason I got back up because it's an gross but it is called moon juice. I've had oh and I'm like and that's to me whenever we're thinking of Wu and we learned that at the UFO con from now on. I encourage everyone else to do this. I'm calling APHRODISIACS. Move Juice because it's Wu and this is a giant forty of galactic IFA. It's going to be disgusting. Santan makes good beer. Yes it does make beer. I like their stuff as a backup because we're talking about Valentine's Day. I got a sweet strawberry so chocolate covered strawberries and it's paying so it's Valentine's I'm rationalizing shut up by his Valentine's and it's called a cupid's kiss ooh in a while it's my take on it because I couldn't find all the ingredients I wanted at the grocery store specific literally just a glass of sprite specifically orange bidders. I couldn't find anyways. That's cool so what it hasn't it is muddled raspberries and meant lime juice. Garvey and then white cambric juice and then they put some concern. Oh my God. I have to try this. That sounds so amazing. If anyone likes really happy as I think you're really like this. It's vile open with him. It's disgusting because dump it out for fun. Okay let's get back on track history history since we're talking about well since I'm talking about fertility and love and all that other bullshit I thought I'd talk about these are actually. He's telling personal true story. Talk about something sort of related different. Okay nothing says law like Erotica. So I'm going to give you a brief history on erotica first off the word. Erotica derives from the Greek God Eros Sherm who was God of Love Physical Desire and passion. She knew this in Roman mythology. He's known as Cupid Erotica has been around for thousands of years and is historically depicted in all cultures and some guy can really imagine like way like ancient people. Jacking up to cave drawings actually drawing the monk is it really did it. They go about that okay. Although it cannot really be said of many of the depictions that have been found. Were for pleasure for some aesthetic purpose or ritual aspect because you have to admit as Horny. Teenagers repressed reject off to some weird stuff. Maybe you okay. I checked off to some stuff like you would just see like I mean a picture in like a book. Nancy drew of Ned Nickerson playing football jack. Anyways there are cave. Paintings have been found depicting sexual acts erratic has been found in every era from Greek and Roman textbooks from the Middle Ages. The piece of Erotica found is a poem called Istanbul. Two four six one which was written on Sumerian cuneiform tablet and what year two for sixty. One I Dunno okay. It's pretty damn all. If it's on a cuneiform tablet bedded hasn't been translated. Do they know it says erotic you'd have to know is good. Even the Bible itself has a whole Chapter Song of songs at talks about sexual longing and love between a man and a woman To state the obvious Roddick wasn't always available in ancient times a little more so once the printing press was invented. That's true because you couldn't walk into the basalt tagline. Yeah this megastore by stone tablet with porn. I never that's true. Yeah so according to my research erotica really started to develop around the seventeen hundreds at the time. That novel started to become popular One of these early books came out in seventeen forty eight by John Cleland called memoirs of a woman of pleasure or more commonly known as Fannie Hill Fatty Fatty hills a widely known as one of the most prosecuted and banned books in history. Wow in the late seventeen. Hundreds of France we got books from the Marquette. Assad which exemplified sadomasochism. Obviously these books would have a huge influence on future novels with similar themes Because of the PURITANS Erotica started to become taboo and was considered unsophisticated during that era the quality of Erotica that time also obviously seem to decline although in the eighteen hundreds we did get some of the beginnings of male gay erotica the books the sins of the cities of the plane and the Tahiliani or the reverse of the medal but Erotica didn't start to again become popular until the early nineteen hundreds in the mid one thousand nine hundred erotic novels from Henry Miller Vladimir Nabokov an ice in one form of Erotica. It also became popular at this time. Was that of lesbian pulp fiction Yeah and may gay pulp. Fiction would also become a thing although not as popular as lesbian really occas. Yeah okay. Can I think statistically women read more erotic romance also into women being with each other so that true that too yeah so popular authors begin to write erotic under often underpin names such as Anne Rice? Who wrote the sleeping beauty quartet under the name? A N

"Group one rising everywhere so we're GONNA have contracts Coalfield Josie and Melissa to Sydney with your track report here. We'll stop because obviously it's a great bond. Rising on Saturday Ryo true good full lose hill a little bit of wing North North Easterly which will maintain its look. It's not going to have that much. Impact only fifteen ks but here. I think this is going to be a big advantage on spayed around Rosehill on Saturday and now we get to coalfield on Sunday at six. Mehta's good good for now windy speak of and again I think on Spain is going to be a huge advantage for shoot rices aimed for eight hundred plus the Emma. You've got to be on. I think they're going to be winning. Lots of rices absolutely group one racing tracks. GonNa Cover today but we got to Sydney first because that is the satellite. Let's have a look at the golden rose market. He People Act as your fiber. Currently it's free dollars exceedances sixty yard dash and yes yes yes yes at four hundred fifty. We we go from there. Cube Rick and Castle Vecchio both eleven dollars prints firewall twenty dollars passage twenty-six and others further further Josie the map match really important. I think probably the most important part of this race is a small field and I don't think they going to go fast Yale. Dash I think laid and he is where I think the rise can be one lost because I think maybe we can see at so. I just don't think horses and exceedances even Castle Vecchio had that early Gates Right Speight close enough and you in a slower on rice doesn't matter if you're not too far off them but when you go to host like bb Wack in front of you lost dot ran twenty to one eleven into lost four hundred loss two hundred and they couldn't catch him. I think this is gonNA sit up exactly locked at Yale Dash. Hey can laden. He's going to give a massive run as well as to. I think you're going to clear out and I just think the widest rice is going to be run. It sits up perfectly for BBC wacky got back to his best on the dry track. I think these treacle suit horses on Spe Kobe on with the Godolphin Blue Army to win the Golden R-ariz. Bv Wack Very Good Josie. Do you agree that's good as before no because he writes divert different pressure here. There's any tools is in this race that have won seven for the loans. That's Prince foul was it was terrible. I up and of course Kosovac and I want to talk about Kaseke. I because he's had an unusual preparation Russian coming into this race. He ran over fifteen hundred meters. I up with fifty eight. He got back on a die way. You couldn't really might grand and when he indeed when you go to the outside after being ridden CODA gain a flu and he showed the acceleration that I wanted to see adjust picked on these running saw the last fifty so he comes back an extra hundred meters fights while while like castell Vicki I was because this is a small field josie spike speed dash guy fold and dictate terms terms BIVOUAC with full. Don't pass each go forward and put some pressure on these horses in existence needs to come across us. Don't passage BIVOUAC and sit on those horses. This is a group one. These more pressure is tactical in this small field guy back and Watch Castle Vecchio when he sat when he drew and saw it and he set up on the speed when he when he's group one champagne. Hey Ken seek close. You don't have to draw net where he has to come back in Roy Court. He's only going to be three pays back a set. Nas and close when he want. He's a group one and he saw has run out of the fourteen hundred when he was thirty at to go back in a massive run once again and he has the acceleration tuna foot to seat off these pressure in a group one race ace be close enough this time and pick them apart light dropping back set whites drop from the fifty eight to sit whites a seats closer. He's drone bed up oil blocking and I can't believe the price that we're going to get castaway. Cay Ifa may cause he's proven at this four hundred hundred and he's absorbed this type of pressure group pressure beforehand so i WanNa wrote

"Recording kid is a hobby that that is dumb for your wallet don't be like me but if you were rocking a really nice pair of sennheiser like say you had some HD five ninety five five ninety eight number five ninety nine spent a couple of hundred bucks but those headphones should last you decades so you're not a part of those sales charts go off half over half of all new headphones or are bluetooth will yeah because people who have good cable headphones didn't need to buy new headphones this year unless they also got a new phone that doesn't have a headphone jack from a. d. hopefully LG will retain the quad dak and just remove the jack and output the dak via USB see would be ashamed to see LG lose the quad dak and jack i i'm not impressed with the the USB solutions i really thought we would seem more daxon amps in ways that we can plug into USB see but too many times i go to use my phone and i kind of need both i kind of need a jack for my headphones and some way to charge the phone or connect to another device i don't wanna lose is that functionality but if you get rid of the headphone jack and a half to go over usb see i lose functionality on that from a device that i am increasingly trying to do more things from my phone i just it drives me nuts all right quick plug i'm gonna try and keep this a little shorter other content creators need your help there are people online trying to make awesome stuff for you to watch and they're not getting the love or the attention or the support support that they need case in point yours truly one over my youtube stats my views are up fifteen percent my watch time is up twenty six per cent twenty six percent month over month and my subscriptions are up i think fifteen percent i might have love my views and my subscriptions flipped but anyway all of my stats way up for everyone complaining about how i put one percent of my videos behind a patriots paywall the actual numbers my viewership on youtube has never been better my subscriber base has never been stronger my watch time has never been higher and my revenue was down i making less money on youtube with all of my stats big green arrows on youtube up i i know i am not being shared i know i am not being recommended i know people who smashed that bell icon are not getting notified youtube has become a toxic doc sick echo chamber of popularity and trending topics which is why you see so many content creators going through this existential crisis of i can't make another samsung on video but if i make a video about anything else youtube is going to savage me for not talking about the most popular trending topics exc a passive view is not enough anymore if you really like a content creator so one of the platforms that i'm trying to to help with exposure bolger with finding new topics with promoting people that deserve more attention is a sub read it i made it a couple years ago it starting to pick up a little traction today it's it's red dot com slash are slash glowing rectangles were getting a few new members every week it could use your help your support report if you want to share it if you're a part of the reddit community if you just want to use it to find new things you can use it as a resource to find new content new voices new producers and i am super proud of the fact that what is consistently voted the highest every week gone are glowing rectangles is a much broader discussion of technology than what you see in your youtube feed you go to youtube you're going to see apple and samsung and a few you other things on glowing rectangles were finding a huge variety of topics samsung apple in there but there are other things to talk about out and producers are making exciting content about a lot of other things so i'm gonna go back into screen share these are the top three highest voted stories he's on our glowing rectangles into the first one is is about apple so it's about apple but i love again i could kiss gary explains on the mouth gary explains one of my all time favorite youtube channels he just recently recently broke one hundred thousand subscribers he deserves ten times that number and should be shared every day but gary explains took a stab at this this current controversy over iphones and how they're not as secure as we thought they were google recently published some zero day exploits on on the iphone and apple was very cavalier in their response they were very um oh it's not that big a deal which was the wrong play especially we went apple is plastering billboards in southern california about their private and their privacy concerns and how other manufacturers just aren't to secure they they don't treat your excuse me they don't treat your data with the same level of respect that we will at apple accept mobile devices are not secure anyway back back to gary gary has a phenomenal video breaking down this current went on these these exploits for the last couple years we're very confident that a state level or well-funded oh funded operation has been extracting information off of iphones because of these exploits these experts recently got patched but it is very very likely that if you go if you went to certain sites that they were able to get to colonel level information on the iphone especially for your family and friends who are rocking IOS products i would highly recommend checking out this video and hand easily handley deserves to be the top voted story on our glowing rectangles gary is awesome but this video is again just another shining example of why his his tech commentary in his reporting is so valuable to this community it then right after that this is a new entry i haven't even subscribed i am going to subscribe to this channel this is jason coup a new condition on glowing rectangles running windows seven on android he's got a tutorial not screen sharing it not remote controlling it but how to run windows seven on android and just a fun enthusiast a fund enthusiast example of just some i've hacking you know some some customizing so something that you wouldn't normally think of or would maybe kind of dabble at or try and play with but there's no reason why our phones can't handle more robust operating systems so this is a really fun video to kinda browse through i'm probably not not gonna do this but i recommend taking a watch through because i i think we're going to see some some heavier lifting from our phone soon and then this this channel has just grown on me like crazy scroll down to this is the third place video from gadget bite the red meat seven eight versus israel me see to these are phones we don't get access to north america i'm really enjoying gadget by as a north american because i have been exposed to so many mid rangers that i wish we could get here but there channel in general really sleekly produced videos great reviews some fun comparisons back and forth phone specs the the host is charming and engaging she's she's super savvy at breaking all this stuff down and again from a perspective that we don't get to hear of as often here in north america so those are the top three videos you got apple but apple talking about security and privacy you've got a hacking video on how to run a microsoft operating system on an android device and you've got a amid ranger injure i mean not amid ranger a budget battle showdown top three stories on our going rectangles i'm super proud of this community and what it's growing into the people that are contributing stories that are uploading stories and commenting this is a wonderfully diverse international well rounded tech community and that's what i wanna keep that's what i want to continue building i don't want this to be an echo chamber for the verge and k b HD i don't want this to be an echo chamber number for samsung and apple there are so many other things that we could be talking about outside of the most popular trending topics and i knew i absolutely knew it in my heart that if there were a platform to start pushing that kind of content we would see this kind of stuff rise to the top so i couldn't be more proud of the people that are participating in our glowing rectangles and if you would like to help support your favorite content creators give a boost to a smaller channel try and get more exposure for a bigger vigor channel that deserves more attention i hope you'll check it out because it's it's shaping up to be something really exciting and i'm i'm just happy to be along for the ride occasionally one of my live videos shows up on my own sub read it so it's good times y'all matt tyler i joined going rectangles today and shared my first video matt tyler is hooking it up everyone matt tyler is is he's got a wallet that says bad mo folks on it and everyone should give them thumbs up and fat produce make sure your make sure y'all are commenting on our glowing rectangles so yeah that's that's my plug and i think we can move on so we're getting to eleven o'clock i started rated the stream just a little bit late but i wanna wrap up the spotlight at the end of the podcast talking about what will maybe see tomorrow tomorrow for all all of the new phone announcements that came out during epa just before epa we're gonna hallway later i think in ten days talking about the the meat thirty whatever's going to be coming from the next mate with that cure nine ninety pardon the interruption here but i need to plug another podcast i'm working on with my buddy andrew through the geek book club is a monthly podcast which is also an online book club which should not come as a surprise given the name of the podcast we pick a book we read it and then we talk about it and you can also join the conversation if you want a good geeky chat about your favorite geek literature join andrew wallace and i every month on the geek book club available on itunes google play and other fine podcasting services excuse me my voice might not make it through from this this apple discussion so we spoke about this a little bit on jason's livestream on painfully honest tech but i don't think we've gone into an apple announcement with this level of apathy even going from the iphone ten to the tennis there was this sort of bubbling of maybe we'll see something fresh maybe we'll see something exciting and i'm already seeing the rumor and leak articles on what to expect in iphones in twenty twenty i've said this for for a while apple is a company is an extremely emotional tech purchase they built built their walled ecosystem around an idea of apple as disruptor which really hasn't existed for a while it's not just that they don't make nice products no one is saying they don't make nice products but that same spark of being the upstart being the smaller collar being the disruptor has not existed apple for a while and this is also one of the things that i'm kinda poke at samsung for two when you're the market leader you increasingly stop being the disruptor and if you're not the disruptor then that means you're not the innovator her so it's kind of a bummer because apple really doesn't have any competition if you're in the IOS ecosystem it's not like you can buy an IOS device from another manufacturer who has to compete against apple your tied to you whatever apple decides to do so we're going into this next iphone announcement knowing that we'll probably see refreshes she's on apple watch actually apple watch i am anxious i am excited to see what they do with apple watch because it still the most successful iteration of a smart watch i think we've seen it's grown into one of the nicest a wearable experiences i think you could experience it's just a shame it's is tied to one of my least favorite phone experiences at super high prices premium prize.

"Windows capture screen share here android ten on the google pixel three a living up to promises and expectations so obviously i've been super hyped about things like desktop mode even in this editorial i'm talking about desktop mode on oneplus having pro there's something i think i just getting back to basics super super simple were kinda taken it for granted i did and i don't want us to take it for granted when we look at the IOS ecosystem even though i don't believe the last couple IOS updates have been substance filled updates they've been bug fix and corrective updates but that's still software support over years i mean my iphone SE is just as current with the core of apple's operating system as my iphone tennis that is absolutely not something that happens in android land so when google puts out first party devices i think we kinda shrug off oh yeah of course if you have a pixel so you're gonna get updates i don't want us to lose sight of how and win those updates come in when android ten came out there were two important tests for the pixel ecosystem older devices and the pixel three it wasn't that the pixel three got android ten and then the pixel two was on a delay and then the pixel one was a month later it wasn't that if you bought a pixel pixel three a. and you got the lesser device that you got lesser support so i wrote up editorial just kind of sharing some feelings about that i want to praise i i think that's that's an important milestone for google to reach where they made a claim about support and every device so far or has lived up to that that support claim that's not something that can be said of any other major android manufacturer the closest is essential and they have one phone and i don't think they're going to make any more the next closest one plus the next closest after that is nokia kia you know we can get close but i think google does deserve some credit while i'm not always super excited about their hardware we you have to hold google to a certain standard for software and i feel like this android ten launch they lived up to that to those expectations and i am looking forward to pixel for i'm really hoping we see something exciting for pixel ford and lastly wrapping up housekeeping the experience yeah one camera conclusion so i i've spent a lotta time shooting i it it was a sad day it's not holding on to the experi one i'm hoping i can soon get an experienced five we're gonna talk about that because of all of the epa announcements three recant rose to camera apps and one experience this this was a very happy camera reviewed to put together gather i i've had a sort of a hate love hate relationship with sony cameras so cameras on phones i should say not sony standalone maryland cameras and i went into the exterior one with some anxiousness because i'm very excited about the display i really think premium phones i should've gone to four k. screens along time ago and sony definitely nailed that the display on the exterior one is phenomenal but i was anxious the the cameras are always kind of a hit or miss and often miss situation but when you see pro features and true pro modes on a sony on sony smartphone art phone in one generation the experience going from one of the worst auto mode unfamiliar experiences that i've ever used to one of the best i want to really make things with my phone kind of platforms is very exciting so the camera conclusion is out there and the last bit of of just sort of support ping i'm gonna go go back into screen share here real quick so i got a lot of feedback after not a lot i got like three emails in a couple of angry tweets but i got some feedback after i posted my one plus seven pro camera review so i'm screen sharing some gadget guide dot com and on the right hand side there's obviously the support banner at the top but there's also standalone lists for all of my camera reviews and all of my audio reviews news so when you click on the camera reviews i've broken it up by year but you can see on each individual phone there are separate links i used to link directly cleats the full deep dive reviews on patriotic and i think that was probably i think that was probably not inappropriate but i got some feedback from folks saying like hey it's taken us directly to a paywall site and we know that you're putting out some i'm sort of condensed the camera conclusion is a public video could you link us to that so we go directly to something that we can really watch and then have a separate link if we wanna wanna check out the patriot and i think that's fair so four the moving forward whenever i put out a camera review and i put out a camera conclusion i'm i'm going to publicly list in in this camera list camera reviews list i'm going to list the camera conclusion and then have a separate link to the patriot deep dive with all of the extra analysis so for example the the honor view twenty was the first phone of twenty nine thousand nine that i reviewed for the camera you click on that takes you to the condensed just the conclusion part of the video and then there's a separate link over here for the patriots deep dive if you want to support and get the full twenty two thirty minute examination in two thousand nineteen the only one i don't have and i could've sworn i cut one up but i literally we can't find it and it's not on youtube so it might have just been one of those paralytic nightmares that i did put it together is the nokia nine so i'm going to try and cut that up later today and put out a camera conclusion on the nokia nine because it just never did it there's a full camera deep dive on one of the most i too am vicious smartphone cameras of the year and i completely missed publicizing i did that so that's going to wrap it up for for housekeeping i think i'm under what was i started at nine what does that twelve minutes so close but yes so you can catch all of all of these housekeeping bits on some gadget guy dot com and then all of the show notes will be posted publicly for the podcast once the podcast goes live on your favorite podcasting services it's always appreciated when you share the audio versions in review you the podcast on whatever podcasts streaming collection service that you i mean 'cause i'm everywhere you want apple you google you want spotify you can get the podcast in audio form pretty much anywhere you go so yes let's see see and get that out of the way they're cool missed it by fifteen seconds okay the reason why i like to hold my podcast cast on a monday is that we can kind of digest the news over the last week i am going to cut out the normal sections on on politics and tech and politics FCC kind of following up on some of the stories like net neutrality this last week was eva i it's the consumer boomer electronics trade show in berlin unfortunately i wasn't able to go i was trying to put together a budget for new egg we couldn't get the budget approved by it's it's a it's a little bit like ac- ES obviously a lot of what i cover online channel is mobile focused i'm i'm very into phones but epa uh is a very broad consumer electronics show where the hottest news in appliances is often at epa you're gonna see a lot of laptop and desktop ask top computer announcements but not component announcements like you see at a at compu tax so it's a very broad show and it's it's difficult to get it likes EES CAS in epa both share this this common issue where it's kinda hard to get a an overall theme because you have so many different product categories than you have so many different exhibitors let me take another here and in the live chat nails it epa is where you talk about phones laptops and smart connected fridges the first time i saw a i built into a washing machine was at epa a couple of years back that's that's the tone of eva you're going to see kind of a little bit of everything putting it started mostly as a way to showcase you know like kitchen and living room technologies and it sort of morphed from there and it kind of covers just just about everything so let me get this queued up here i wanna start off the the major announcements i'm not gonna be talking about appliances and stuff i'm going to try and keep it mobile focused but one of the important categories for epa immobile is laptops and there were some interesting acting announcements but i feel like we're right on the cusp of mobile tack finding some kind of consolidation dacian point i i recently joined jason painfully on his tack on his state what was funny is the title of his livestream was like the state eight of the smartphone market in twenty nineteen but i think we spent more time talking about philosophy electric vehicles and you like sort of just general computer tech and we didn't spend as much time i think talking about the state of smartphones and and and it was one of those things like i i came into the stream late and then everyone else laughed and was like people just don't like me LFA started the stream i didn't even get to join LFA on the stream hopefully and maybe another little mini baby collaboration coming up with lfm reviews just t- something which may or may not happen i'm trying to work with t. k. on a project and i'm trying to work with LFA on a project and if it's LFA reviews news you know it's going to be a real good for your ears so if a twenty nineteen these are some of the laptop announcements that i thought well laptop and desktop announcements that i thought were kind of interesting stink i up if if you're looking at some type of ultra thin portable this market i think is the most endanger sure of getting wrecked by smartphones i've got my little alway may book thirteen it's a mac book air clone macbook air i think is another one where it's kind of a toss up now whether or not oh you should go for a macbook air style laptop or an ipad pro i mean the computing power and the capabilities are now sort of reaching parody so if you wanna do something interesting with laptops you've gotta start pushing into different power tears it's not enough just to have sort of thin and light indecent jason battery.

"I WANNA start the first like few minutes so this for us to get our grievances out grievances about this venue. It's a it's like a trope every single year thing. It's it's like trying to find like you're an GPC in Rome or somebody complain and he was like why can't you make it like New York City. It's a beautiful grid. Have you ever been downtown because there's no grit downtown. I've heard of a lot of people people complaining about COMECON Winston New York yeah so I I don't imagine it being that much better but this is this is a big place and granted. EPA has so many things going for yeah yeah but listen. Here's the thing there's no better. It's just that's a mirror you so has going for it. Here's the thing the Messa wasn't designed for this but is there another venue where you could do it as the question and then like if you had to compare the the you know the Messa to the VC like for me it the thing is we're just boiled by NBC. We're just spoiled by Lafayette because it was it was the fury was created for that purpose. Yeah it's a more modern venue designed with that purpose in mind and obviously they use it for other things but they they created with that purpose. It's like even the train station. Is there yeah like everything was so well done but it's a modern product whereas try to get to the LDC try to get out of it yeah. It's all boy means also car culture in Las Vegas or that part of the US anyway so there's no public transportation whatsoever. It's not like you can take do to get there which name to the point where now I know my way around the mess yeah but it doesn't make it any better you know no for somebody. That's never been there. It can can be daunting not overwhelming the words and it's so confusing because nothing makes sense the the whole subscript so if it's above that means it's upstairs of it's below that means it's in the basement and then the two dot thing like the dog means. It's a different different portion of the same building the we've we. We had a hard time just getting here to do this podcast because getting a new getting a taxi or whatever whatever the case may be always just a pain but as far as the venue is concerned like yeah. It's a lot but then again for this year. I feel like there's more news this year than there has been in recent. Oh yeah significantly more. Here's the thing like Samson didn't really have the presence that they usually have usually announced their galaxy note no well it started with a note and it became more about it became more about wearables today. We just got the the fold back. I didn't know what was your first time holding it. Yeah I wasn't there was a very exclusive group that I that thankfully included you and yeah. Exclusive Group got the first crack at all. I don't mean the Pun they got the first look at the fold for those couple of weeks which is when all all the news stories we're breaking again puns with these things but they have tried to fix all of the flaws with the galaxy fold and you know what since it was my first time holding the phone this morning I have to say I was surprised at how I don't mean this facetiously actually mean this. I was surprised at how usable it is because we haven't used it in the real world. Yeah it felt I was expecting it to be unwieldy. Wasn't it depends like you were in a controlled environment and and you weren't having to commute from point A. TO POINT B. here's the problem. I use it for two weeks. Don't get me wrong. I love the concept I do love the idea of opening the display having a full tablet being able to read my book or stuff like like I gave I gave gave uses to the fold that I had never given to any other phone I for example being able to read a book you just feel like that. It feels like the and and with the open been four factors feels very good. The problem is if you're like US carrying all the camera gear. That's right now setup. You most likely only have one hand available whenever you're in New York City on your way to point eight and so if this is your only phone if you have no crutch like bear in mind I always have an iphone as a crutch like that is literally like if I'm commuting. That's the phone I'll put out. I'll pull out if I if like for example you send me a voice message and I get the alert on the watch Asia the what I mean I can respond from both phones but I will choose the iphone just because of how easy it is to handle in one hand talk. I have the tennis tennis Max yeah and so the problem with the fold is that outer screen okay my question about the outer screen because I we could not easily and I were together at our our little meeting with them. We could not confirm in the forty five minutes. We were there that anything wouldn't work on the outer screen. Everything works yeah. It's a problem why why would that'd be a problem though because because first of all it's not okay so both user interfaces. Don't necessarily talk to each other. They don't talk to each other one of the things you want life for example. It's not the same wallpaper the icon of you notice there to launchers so the inside has one launcher and then whatever icon order you set on the inside doesn't work outside okay as if you have folders doesn't work but but then the things that I do don't that I totally do want split they. They don't swifty so the Samson keyboard multi-lingual I need to be able to type in would thing about swifty is it detects three languages automatically medically it doesn't and so it does for Swipe at this for everything and so that outer keyboard that outer screen is perfect for Swipe Keyboard yes but then on on the on the inside you need for the keyboard to be split to be able to manipulate it so guess what happens when you split the keyboard on swifty enclosed thing it'll split on the outside Dasa. Wow Okay and so I'm like this is what I didn't WanNa talk to itself like dammit and so don't get me wrong. I loved my time with it. Would it be would it what I consider to be the best foldable no in a in a still small category but the thing is so okay. I get that using swift key. It's a specific use case but like that there are there are other cases says we're thinking of the scenario where let's say because you and I we we use voice messaging on telegram all the time and I know that on the outside that would be like that would be just one hundred percent possible so you'll be able to hold and talk so I kept thinking to myself. What is I get at? The screen is small. It's it feels like a waste waste of space because there's so much on the top and bottom if any of your other complain about Basil's look at the outer screen of this Galaxy Vault but functionally definitely you could get small things done on that one transit it's just so if you try to use television for example sample the font also mimics and so if you have some fun on the inside because you've got a large screen and you will more real estate it'll port itself to the tiny tiny and so it it. It's I wish that had talked to itself separately I and so these are these are the kinds of things where you know. I have to hand it to certain companies apple. Being one of them where I feel like a lot of a lot of people are like so why is it that apple is so successful is the promise one when you use products that they make with the exception of the home pod like it's like if they actually do really test them. It's like if they actually do go out on the Wild Alden. That's actually something that happened. Recently with the with the iphone eleven it was some Guy Fall Asleep on the subway with the purple one well no way yeah cover that on the News daily yesterday but the point being is I just I don't feel that that outer screen green was tested enough. I see that yeah and you know when people are like How do you say when people are like so excited about something? There's a word good for gung-ho. They just so excited about the product that they that they lied to themselves. That's not a problem there Bob rose colored glasses is one way of putting yeah but they're so excited and soon eager and they're in that way where they want to be I in this and that you know well I would rather you take more time because really if that thing had a bigger outer screen and I could use it as a phone eighty percent of the time and then taping it up when I'm on when I can have my both hands available it will be the perfect foldable. Do you think that the improvements for small fixes. It's literally the same product okay. It's just you know big. Is it going to change event not change. Is it going to cover the inadequacies the I found though like do you still think that breakage will be a problem. You know the the we've had this discussion we but on separate topics blake the problem is when you have so many moving parts your arms for failure is a stroke much higher yeah and so what happens of that if the product falls it falls on the hinge I I don't know yeah you know. I don't know yeah I do. I do shudder to think what drop would do this. I have no idea even if the inside is a plastic screen with the with the outside is not yeah. I don't know I don't know what to expect. I will admit though again coming from somebody who has used the for the very first time this morning I've literally I've had literally only forty five minutes with in total taking a Selfie on that big screen though I have to admit it was kind of a fun thing. Don't get me wrong enough things that are cool and if you go to Taipei. I'm sure that that that phone is going to sell like hotcakes her because it's it is that one town that I've been where people use tablets for that's their phones and so I have seen like for me I would always make fun for people when when I would see them with tablets and stuff taking photos but and do you remember when they were products from a seuss like I remember that there was a time when the next seven came out and then they launched the version of that same tablet but with phone with cell phone functionality yeah now's like why are they doing this and then I went to Taipei and I'm like oh I get it now. it's actually a thing here people actually use tablets phones yeah obviously you can't use the fold in its open configuration for recall. You can't speaker took it. Yeah I had a took a couple of pictures of visa where she was using it in the right way but then we would illustrate why you wouldn't do it in the other way Komo so and so here's the problem. The fold is a very good tablet not a very good form. That's my impression so if you get a call you gotta close your that's why okay okay I get you I get you're forced to Obviously you get galaxy buds in the box. So if you put on your Galaxy Buds you can answer the call all that they really want this world and so people ask me like what are the worst for me. What's my favorite foldable? I'm like I still feel that they're ahead of their time and we need to go through this period where products fail or were products go through this and I love that you said that because we you know we can shift gears now from the Galaxy Fault one about a more pragmatic approach to the same general concept of having more screen real estate in the case of the Algae Jada right before we moved to the Jada I'll wise why is the METEX my favorite everybody's like yeah but the moment that thing falls right I feel the same thing the same way about the galaxy fold and so this is the point that I'm going to make about eight it acts but the reason why I like the made X. is because it feels like a note nine when it's closed.

"Hopefully this means we are live ladies and gentlemen boys and girls tech fans of all shapes and sorts and sizes and persuasions welcome to another monday sunday morning tech chat show on the QA podcast channel i'm one carlos back now some gadget guy the SDG of this terribly named podcast and the QA stands for question and answer because whenever we broadcast live every monday morning i like to make this an interactive conversation not just what old tech man dan yells at you from his porch of flying by the seat of my pants this morning my alarm didn't go off i had a crazy paralytic nightmare nightmare about my daughter so i woke up super frazzled in front of flustered the camera interface that i use wouldn't work with o. b. yes so i had to reboot my computer twice to get obese to see my camera and then i spent the last ten minutes trying to figure out why mixer wasn't working unfortunately mixer is not gonna livestream in this week because apparently just need to reauthorize what's going on so apparently today is just going to be you know a pants on fire house burning down that's the phrase i was looking for a house burning down all around me kind of livestream so should it'd be fun should be real fun because we've got a ton of techniques to talk about i need to take another water already i'm already going to be draining my super delicious megapixel goal coffee mugs it was hilarious you'll get through that intro and i was really i was really convinced that the the camera wasn't gonna a fire backup once i turned off that awesome intro that steve who i believe is in the live chat just who who made for me this was i'm rambling i'm going to stop here take a nice deep breath because i'm seeing some awesome folks in the live chat gary sorry the firemen charlie spirit song tyler steve hey that's me levay reviews LFA uenoski do my hi good friend and i'm telling you johnny so in a breakfast gay so the good times you should do it i'm seeing for my favorite river otter meringue what i'm seeing tech love and mama seeing so many cool for a deal QE mad dog for twenty i might have already set your name okay cool oh look at this steve dropping them pickles in the chat own those are some tasty savory delicious megacycles yeah apparently e modes are the thing on on twitch and there are some gadget guy emotes so if you would like to participate with wacky little tiny pinky sized cutouts of my face or some mega pickles you can participate in which and do that too okay we gotta get through some housekeeping what are the over under folks what's the over under on housekeeping is keeping an eye on what we see in another twelve minutes ten ten twelve minutes something like that because i'm already starting about five minutes late so i'm going to try and blast this i'm going to try and go we're going to do you this matt tyler just over the over under is that you're gonna go over i do gary the firemen getting specific twelve minutes in fifteen seconds matt tyler saying twenty minutes truly spirits on you get a pickle he gets a pickle she gets a pickle everyone gets a pickle wrangler expecting thirteen fifty five oh we're getting some prices right action going on here okay steve saying under twelve minutes it's nine zero nine this is my jam x. twenty okay hold on one second let me let me pull this back up here okay hey i'm going to go into screen share hopefully there's all doesn't explode on me let's go boom okay screen share still works excellent a man i feel like i'm like duct taping this livestream together okay i bit of housekeeping that's that's from the podcast last week i bit of housekeeping the feature we should all be most excited about an android ten is of course desktop mode and we can finally see it in action i fired up the was actually dev preview five on the one plus having pro when i did this but you can also now fire it up on the new open beta for android right ten the open beta is running really well and brings a whole bunch of video recording feature to the one plus seven pro but you plug in a cable and then a really simplified amplified super basic ultra raw interface will pop up on a tv or monitor but it does have an individual window support and and it's working surprisingly well for a super rough preview version of a beta feature in a beta operating systems you can check act out i i really do believe that over the next couple years desktop modes on phones will start to savage laptop sales what we're going to take a look at it from the announcements today at e i have a whole a block of laptop announcements and there's some cool stuff i mean definitely some uh-huh some premium some high end components windows machines it's it's good stuff but the more i keep looking at what's going to be exciting in the world of mobility i'm kinda the thinking disrupting the laptop market could play to everyone's benefit okay back to housekeeping something super important i mean you can find it on some gadget guy dot com but it's it's on another it's on another service i i am always nerdy super excited.

"You're gonna make the camera in the front better. This one is weird where they they might move your eyes. When you use facetime to make it look like camera. I also think it's brilliant but it's is not reverse. Wireless charging can charge air pods. No-one no-one things are going to be five jeff on this year that will come next the iphone eleven s promex by just put name out there now <hes> better water resistance three touches going away the success three touch. Do you ever use it. Yes sometimes times to open notification my lock screen that and previewing links but every link today previews and also this is not real apple screen so it's crap dan every three touch. I haven't had three touch walks. I bought a ten hour last year so like i've largely forgotten about three touch yeah. I think it's fine. I will miss certain things. It might take a minute to get used to but i think it's a new color is no u._s._c. which we all expected <hes> and then there's this rumor that came out today that next generation life ends will actually have touch the in display over a large portion this will work in combination with face eddie which i that's a a lot of biometric authentication but there's rumors about the next generation of funds command today which is interesting so i think i think we're i would expect to see most of these. Things happen on the iphone and i think the big questions are are they going to watch probably seems likely what will they add to that for some rumors of sleep tracking which could be interesting but other than that they're so far ahead and then. I think we're gonna see another event onto. Yes like you know <hes> the rumors. All your have been that. There's going to be a sixteen inch macbook pro some point this year. I would not expect to see it next week. <hes> whatever ipad refreshingly do probably not happen next week and then <hes>. There's been a lot of rumors about it updated apple t._v. I i strongly suspect they will make no mention of it. They will just quietly update the apple t._v. At the new processor in the background because they've got a whole streaming service to launch they're not gonna put out a new apple t._v. and then be like and it has all the same content as before right like they've gotta show you the oprah show or the you know the the morning show or whatever they're doing the boring company. I i feel like you know the current apple. T._v. is pretty powerful and like. I don't know what adding more power to a current apple t._v. Does i think what a lot of people would like apple to do and they probably won't do it but is come out with something that's cheaper that is competitive with the fire tv sticks and the roku sticks and stuff like that because right now the apple t._v. He's like four times the cost of those things. I literally think it's the oldest chip that are manufacturing is in the apple t._v. right. It's eight ten so i think they're just going to move it along along like okay. You've got the one that the ipads us good anew and like get out that's all they need to do right and then they can put out the cheaper one in the future but there's no way they're gonna make any announcement about updated apple t._v. when they they're big announcement is actually streaming service so like the daily watch the actual apple t._v..

"To apps across the two the difference greens party apps can scale across and also chrome. They showed a demo. That chrome is the one that they're using. They can actually spend displays if you want to have like a super wide web browser which has a break in the middle so i'm not sure you would want to use a web browser in that way but you can like you know like the l._g. Gallery can choose a thumbnail on the left side and it pops up on the right and things like that but as far as like third party apps google photos or netflix or things like that really on them to kind of support for it which i imagine it's going to be too. It feels l._g. It's unfortunate position of the bill a thing that seems like it could be okay with the right amount of app support unless you're sitting. There going can't wait to use l._g.'s own ex tokyo view right the then. There's that limitation of the android platform is just not set up for devices with two screens. That's nice in the the way that you can just kind of. Take off the case in just your standard phone when you want that. It's nice that then in your pocket and then when you need that enhanced larger screen you can just take that with these i think now there's something to that idea but it'll be interesting to see how much support this gets. If people really buy it and like will it cost money or will the carriers just sell it for free with the phone. That's a big question too because if you have to pay for it separately gonna face pretty far odds to talk about notches national security so like so the phone is teardrop notch and sodas the second screen for no obvious reason l._g. Says they wanted to do symmetry so it looks the same and also i think it was cheaper for them to buy parts from their supplier voelkel right so you've got a real notch with a camera in it and a fake notch on on the other side. There's just no camera just little cut out a little slope notch. It's not that offensive. It's just really bizarre but i feel for. I feel like l._g. Tries so hard and everything has a has a thing whether it's like the it was the quality dock they had most of their phones have that hardware is great and the software showed off some new software u._i. That's gonna come soon. It makes their software better. It's still l._d. Software so it's not the best around a hardware cameras are there is always got camera. I'm rather more of the more manual control video stills and things like that and then a lot of other phone makers do so i think the hardware is there and they just can't seem to really stand out from samsung. Just seems to always overshadowed them and it's happened here too with the galaxy sold then by called back then does that mean. It's still still have a headphone jack. The only flagship in twenty nineteen th has managed to hold on one of the few remaining if not the only so yeah yeah that's still grace with their money where their mouth is all those people that complain about the headphone jack disappearing and if they really care if they really caught can't live without it and l._g. Sales fear tickly right through all right so from l. wizard foldable flash not foldable bowl excess..

"Now is thinking about hiding likes on posts and really i think it comes down to just relieving some of the pressure post because you're aware of how will your photos gonna. Do i mean if you post permanently. That's why stories is so popular because you're like oh. No no one knows how many people are viewing this and if they viewed it enjoy like it doesn't matter what it is but when i permanently on your greater permanently on your facebook page or like on on a make sure it gets <unk> engagements. "This is smart enough to use its own microphones to adjust itself to the environment which is great because it's something that you're moving all the time it. It seems to be a like <hes> the home pod where like as soon as you turn it on within thirty seconds it's adapted itself to the room and adjusted sound as as well but like a lot of those cool nifty fifty smart features. You really aren't gonna benefit a lot from when you're on bluetooth. It's just a bluetooth speaker so my favorite little bit then we should talk about the other ones and again. There's an entire podcast patrick spencer you can can listen to my favorite little bit. The battery is removable because it's supposed to like sound like these things should last for like a decade the batteries last three years eventually. We're just gonna sell replacement batteries this. It's not removable in the sense that like you're out and about and you keep a second one charged so that you can keep the party going for twenty hours instead of ten. It's removable in the sense that like after three years of use or <unk> estimates nine hundred charges. It's not going to hold its charge anymore. You can like take the bottom part with a couple of screws and swap out the cell. There's go ahead you little plug or whatever and they say that they will be selling more or replacement battery packs book. We don't know how much you're going to cost yet but it'll be available. At some point three fifty uh-huh i love that in like they actually didn't take as much credit for it is like i wanted to give them like spencer's like well. It's not a phone. It's easy to do right like big. We had the room it's so many products have sealed and batteries and they just expect them as well and here they actually like thought about it every other bluetooth speaker the market is falls into that like i can you change the battery on boom. I don't think so i'm just putting garner can change their navy but i mean this is also interesting. Though because is it is in a certain way a recurring revenue model like not in this exact moment but in a few years it does generate some cash for them if this becomes a popular product even even the batteries as opposed to just buying like yes. You could buy any speaker but like it's expensive. I think this had to happen. Pods this. I don't own a sonos. Obviously everyone at the verge has shown us love sonos but i've been waiting and this actually almost might be the one. I think this might be it. Is it the one at four hundred dollars well. No that's first of all four hundred dollars scene for me. Second of all. This thing is frigging huge when i saw that photos like wait what i have to put that on my shelf over my bathroom i think like the price and the size for like the nine million existing sonos people that have like sona systems already in there like odd be great. I can take it out of my house like neil..

"Recently heard about IFA's or eight hundred share agreement. And I wanted to know whether they are good for investors or so. Are they bad for students or what are the pros and cons relatives did each other? About. Yeah, good. Good question Louis. Make sure everybody listening knows what we're talking about income share agreements. As a politically correct term. You could argue for what used to be called indentured servitude. That's probably not how most people would want this referred to. But here's what it comes down to. We all know the crushing cost of college students spend one hundred thousand two hundred thousand dollars. Sometimes even more to attain a college degree. They spent six years. Getting that degree a great. Many students come out with massive student loan debt. The national average in this country is thirty thousand dollars of student loan debt. We have a grand total of over one point six trillion dollars in total student loans, all around the country. And so an alternative idea has come up where investors say, hey, kid going into college. I'll pay for your college degree. You don't have to borrow the money you don't have to write the checks. But here's the catch upon your graduation. You're going to give us ten percent of your salary for X number of years until you repay the money, we fronted you plus a nifty little. For us. So some people think this is a pretty good idea. I'm not necessarily saying it isn't necessarily a good idea. But I do want you to recognize we used to call this indentured servitude where somebody back in the seventeen hundreds would go apprentice for a blacksmith and virtually all of their income went to the blacksmith until the blacksmith decided that they had amassed enough money to be compensated, share cropping was very similar to this as well. And so you've really got to decide as the student am I going to be able to earn enough money from this career. I obtain as a result of my education to be able to pay back a portion of my salary many times it's a significant portion of salary and many times it's a an extended number of years in order to make it worthwhile. Or would I have been better off just paying tuition and borrow in the money to do so, in other words, which was the lower cost the cheaper? Away getting the loan. So as a student, you've really got to evaluate this as an investor Scott, if you're saying to yourself, gee, how come I don't go do this. Why don't I just lend the money to a kid and collect the money back as an investment? Well, you've got to hope that the kid in fact graduates college, you've got to hope that in fact, the kid pays you the portion of salary that is being promised. You've got a hope that the kid earns enough money from the career to be able to do this. In other words, there's a lot of what we call idiocy and critic risk. That's the risk of any one thing happening to anyone individual, you know, in the world of the stock market with seven thousand stocks in the world. Any one stock could go broke that has nothing to do with the grill, oble economy. You know, any one company can go out of business. That's idiosyncratic risk, and we don't like that kind of risk. I don't wanna take the rest, if something happens to that one child child might not get a job might not get a good job back child might not graduate that child, my get sick or ill, or injured or heaven forbid, die in any of which cases, how do you ever get your money back? So if you're going to do this, you've got to do this, not with one student, but with hundreds of students diversify you arrest. This is what these investment companies are doing because they have millions of dollars at their disposal, and they can afford to do this, with a huge number of students, so that if any one of them, defaults, well, that's only a tiny piece of their overall investment portfolio, if you're going to do this with one kid down the street. You're taking a huge amount of risk because you're highly concentrated in your investment. So unless you're prepared to do this with dozens or even hundreds of stew. Students which will take a huge amount of money and a very long time before you get your payback right? You got to wait for the kid to get to college go through college graduate from college. Get a job begin to earn the money. In other words, I think you're hearing, Scott that, you know what this probably isn't a great idea. Now, if you have a student headed to college, and you want to consider these indentured servitude. These income share agreements. Hey, knock yourself out and please don't sign anything until you get advice from an independent, objective financial planner. We're happy to help do that for you..

Lenovo's Yoga Book C930 Redefines a Travel Laptop

"There's a new yoga book from Lenovo. The the, the keyboard isn't e ink screen and it's a, it's a thousand bucks. I used one blind. Has it good hands on video. It's a thousand bucks. The screen is it's used for the keyboard and they do a really clever thing where the the sort of, you know, touch Pat on the bottom track pad. There's just this little like lozenge little oval, but then when you put your finger on it to grab the mouse, the keyboard shrinks down and the track that goes over it. You move your mouse. So he wanted to take your finger off and then it goes back to the keyboard. So you can get a full-size track pad and bigger keyboard in the same space. That sounds great. That sounds great. But like when I'm using laptop, I got hand on the mouse hand on command. See, you know, steel toed from stack overflow. I would like my goal is to get really good of him commands and be able to just be one just be all keyboard, but I'm not there yet. I don't know. That seems it looks beautiful. It looked so clever, but like the last yoga book. So in practice. So the other thing is the eating screen works as like a PDF reader and you can also get doodles on it and they beamed to windows. Yes. So it'll it. It only supports PDF's. Now they say that e book and dot Moby are coming. Which is annoying. You can draw on it and then copy and paste your drawings or you can write on it, and then it will do OCR and pay said into windows. So it's like the eating screen isn't running windows. You can't just take any all app and like throw it onto the screen if you want. It's running some separate proprietary thing that communicates with windows instead of being an actual part of windows. Yeah, I think this how it works, but you can do stuff like you can if you have a PDF on there and you like draw square on the thing you want to copy and then you paste it is a PDF is color. It'll pace the full color thing, which is, I don't know, I guess. And yeah, it is just tiny and skinny and beautiful and really well made. It's got two USB seaports which is what it should have. And it's also got until that the m three year and I five processor on it, which is what it should be. But yeah, it's dozen bucks. You really want it. Are these the new until processes, their seventh, Jen. They're not eighth Chen. Whiskey lake for like ten minutes. I was typing better than you expect. Although I was using prototypes and just like the last yoga book, they hadn't dialed the hap Dixon and so you'd like type on it and it just like remark mom, my mom. This is what I'm saying. Yeah, you can't. You can't do this stuff. This is why the three d. touches good because of the hat Dick's.
