Freddie had received when he graduated from college and at this particular time donald was at a crossroads apparently was he going to go to college or was he gonna take over the trump family business start working for the trump family business and the visit was tense and freddie started drinking and his as his wife made them dinner Linda made them dinner and donald started in before the even sat down saying dad's really sick of you wasting your life. She's embarrassed by you. And and freddie told donald he didn't. I don't need you to tell me what dad thinks. I know what dad thinks he also said like. I don't get why you care you want to work with dad go ahead. I'm not fucking interested right. You're right and donald dad was right about you. You're nothing but a glorified bus driver the ag. There is some story that came out at said. Don't donald felt bad about the comments. He said about freddie after he died. And i call bullshit. I think it's just because they were uncovered and someone heard about him. I imagine him feeling a bit of remorse for any of the awful things he said about his family much less a stranger around the street. No he got caught. I don't buy it. i don't buy it. Freddie told linda that he had quit twa but in reality twa gave him an ultimatum. You can resign and keep your license or you'd be fired because of your drinking and you would never fly again. So they move back to that. Apartment in jamaica queens. But freddie didn't give up he tried to fly for some smaller airlines. You know a little bit to and bye bye bye. Engine planes and But these jobs didn't last long. He's drinking just started to get way out of control and bad a year after his career as a pilot began he found himself sitting in front of his dad begging for a job he never wanted and fred reluctantly agreed and made sure he knew he was doing a favor. Kind of like how. Donald made sure marianne knew he was doing her favorite right absolutely need loyalty and everybody. You see this. Play out with the senators with the state's. Did you feel way calmed down. After because i just getting the car loan. That was great. That was okay. That's a great win right. But now i'm like i wanna make sure it gets there. Yes for everything is okay. I didn't get a call till probably ten thirty. They come to say we're out the dealership but there's gates ever. There was no place to leave it. There is no. Of course. I say okay i gave you the address there are two dealerships in escondido one is the actual sales and one is the service and they're about a block away from each other. I'm like are you sure you're at service. And he's like let me ask my guy. I hear him on the phone. Guys like their services separate from their sales. And i'm like jesus and so they take it over there okay. We found and everything's good cars there. Now that's the first step right getting the car there the next day pack up we head back out to idyllwild and i'm waiting to hear back from the dealership to see what's wrong with it. You get back to with its car. Yeah we'll take the next day. And then i get on our way to idyllwild. I'm like okay. I'm going to try again. This whole trip is set up to like. Let's go relax. Relax let's just forget about the world and troubles of our every day. And i'm just dealing with this junk and boy. I felt so bad for her because she had set this whole thing up. And i'm sitting here like frigging the fuck out and i'm trying to like hold it together and then i get an email. That says an estimate to fix your car now again. My car is a two thousand fourteen. Mini cooper okay countryman. Man it's beautiful loving paid off. It's paid off and i think that was also a big. You felt good when you did pay. I paid it off. And i'm like i don't have any payments. Great the amount of money that it's going to cost to fix his car was four thousand something in something dollars were i was just like floored. I'm like what what the fuck. So i'm scrammed. Just get feverish. Like i can't before thousand dollars into this car right now when you know. It's not under warranty anymore. Right everything is out of pocket and who knows what else could happen. And i'm like what is the car worth in the car. In best case scenario is worth between ten and fourteen thousand dollars. Okay honestly that's still a good value. That's a good car. Still worth something and it's going to cost four thousand to fix now. What would you do in this moment. Let's say your car at worst is worth ten thousand and to fix it. It's going to cost four thousand dollars math problem. This is if johnny has knowing the dozen fourteen. Which isn't that old. That old problem that the reason that it costs much two things one. And i know this. It's at a dealership. Okay i get that. It's going to cost a little bit more just for labor count and they're using actual parts that go for the mini which you know. Maybe it doesn't matter. But sometimes i feel like it is like if i'm gonna replace something in my mac computer. I'm probably going to replace it with a macintosh part. Because they know what they're doing. You is taking them. Mini gary's autoshop possible. Here's the thing. I've already told it and it cost me three hundred and some dollars to thoat. Now i'm going to have to tow it to go someplace else to find out that yup it is going to be whatever seven hundred or something so i'm just i'm just i'm just stressed out just totally stressed out and feeling hopeless and Just over well so would that four grand include. That's basically a whole new engine. No it's like the accelerator box and a bunch of other parts. All like went back with the turbo because my car turbo. And i'd probably trade it because if you like old cars like that or are like how we talked about even that old but i hear what you're saying. Yeah when an older person falls we talked about this last week and then like they break their hip and then everything else starts having to almost feels like when a car has one major thing like that to me. Then it's like it may seem like something's not related a few months later we'll be something would happen for me. I was like okay. So i'm definitely that guy who will buy the insurance on some not all things but like i will get it from my phone or i will get it for a high ticket item. I travel all the time too. And i do that. Not because i think. I'm going to use that insurance but because i don't have to think about the stress of if i had to and i don't have it right so it's like if i drop my phone cracked. I'm not going to have to go buy a brand new phone to fix it right. I'm going to go and spend the whatever it is. So i buy insurance and in this way i realize i'm like i'm in four thousand dollars into this car and then it still doesn't have a warranty and something else could go wrong. Someone else could have been damage in the process of this. And i don't wanna think about it right and although this car is like i love this car i had to start thinking about like. Why don't i put that four thousand towards towards a new car. Yeah so. I asked him what would my trade. Nb and they gave me value. That i felt was fair. You know all it would be around the ten thousand. And i was like all right will now go shift my brain into thinking about buying a car and taken on a car payment and all at a time that i think is really kind of not the right time to do that. Yeah but i really don't want to be stressed out all the time thinking like is this. I don't wanna be like every time. I go to la. I have to feel. Maybe i'm not gonna make it stupid so longer longer. Longer story very short really quick. Sorry so we're in idyllwild while you're making the decision until like setting up a nice making raking the amazing dinner and we're we're trying to put a puzzle together and i'm like okay. I got to buy a color. But i'll never get the car that i want because i don't have the money towards not going to be driving a car. I don't like 'cause i've done that before. I've been in a situation where i had to buy a car that it didn't really want but it was what i could afford and every time i got in that car i was like i fucking hate this car and i really know that like i. Listen sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And i get that on not probably sounds spoiled. But i do know this. If you're gonna make payments at least do your very best to get something as close as possible to think that you can afford that you like you. Don't just go. Yeah give me the red one you know. Because i did that and i really hated driving a hated my car. I felt embarrassed. I remember going to a like a a an event and i was valeting and it was like a really nice event and it was like i rolled up. Their land bows and mercedes and rolls royce.
