"We're talking to Dr Ian Smith of TV's The doctors just switching gears a little bit, doctor and you know, we all know people are trying to deliver on their New Year's resolutions, and within three weeks, it's all over. You know, that's how it goes every single year. Everybody's gonna eat healthier they can exercise then we're back to the same old eating habits. So one of the biggest misconceptions that you hear from other people because you do this every day who are considering making that transition toe to a healthier lifestyle. You know, Um, I wrote mind overweight. It's a very small book. It's only seven chapters. I wanted to be small. I wanted people to be able to get through the book in two hours. Um, but I wrote it because we talk so much about diets and I've written tons of diets. As you know, we've talked about all of them, but People don't often talk about the mind. And really when you talk about ground zero for weight loss. It's about what is happening above your neck and between your ears and you can start Diet and exercise program without really thinking about your mental strategies and you could do okay. But if you really want to maximize your weight loss, and if you really want to be sustainable weight loss You really have to get your mind in the right place. One of the biggest mistake's I see, to be honest with you. And this is gonna like you gonna say really is that people do not know how to set goals properly. Um yeah, there's a chapter in the book, Chapter two called the Genius of Gold setting. And then is that people tend to set unrealistic goals. And when you set an unrealistic goal, what happens is this. You have a goal that I'm gonna make this up. I want to lose £7. Two weeks in a row. And that's unrealistic. And then you lose £4 1st week and £4 of next week. You look at and say I didn't come close to my goal. I'm a complete failure. And so you think that the program's not working or that you're not doing well? And you think that you know what? I'm going to throw this away? This program's not working, so forget it. In reality had you set the proper goals, which is, by the way about £1.5 a week on average is good weight loss. If you would set the proper goals, you would have said My goodness, I'm doing great. This is working for me. I'm going to stick to this. And so when people said unrealistic goals, they end up having this distorted sense of failure. And that failure leads them to falling off the wagon to quitting to giving up and reverting back to bad behaviors. That action plan is absolutely critical. You can't just, you know, Slim down on what you're eating and change what you're eating overnight. You have to have a plan. You have to have a meal plan. That you go through two and one of the things to is, you know, you should reward yourself as you go through every part of this journey to and that doesn't mean cheating on the foods that you were avoiding or the foods that were making you unhealthy. You know, figure out some other rewards for yourself. So when you hit those milestones, you know you feel some some satisfaction. Dave. There is a mountain of research that has shown that people who are on a weight loss journey when they have some type of reward system, not not something out of whack, like you know, if I lose them bound and buy myself a new car. We're not talking about that kind of, you know, reward system, but when you have a reasonable reward system and that reward as you say, Is now I'm going to reward myself by having a food that's definitely not on the program. But when you have good rewards, it's positive reinforcement and people talk about. Well, how do I maintain my motivation? So, Chapter one in my book? Is how do you find your motivation? Unlocking your motivation. But then the question is, how do you maintain it? Well, one way to maintain motivation is to acknowledge your success and to reward yourself for it because that begets a greater desire to reach the next benchmark on so I really believe that people should think about us ways. And by the way, this is all part of the action plan in the book I say to you Listen, let's build out. You know a journey £2 this week £1 next week £0 of third week four positive when you do that, then put a little reward next to it. Well, if I do it, I'm going to find myself. You know some music. Um, if I get that in the four weeks I'm down, £10. Hey, I'm gonna buy myself a shirt or a pair of sneakers or whatever it is. You do that, and that will get you encouraged to keep going. Want to get to your your novel that you just put out, But I want to ask one more question from what one of our textures. Not all carbs are created equal. There's a difference between good carbs and bad carbs. Because I have this argument all the time with people is no. You can still have carbs. You just can't have The ones that aren't good for you. Anything I tell. You have had this argument so often If I had a nickel for I'd be a multi billionaire. Listen. Carbs are great for you. Carbs are wonderful. I mean, we can't live without carbs. By the way, it's we just ate carbs. Yes, Carbs are not created equal when you have carbs, like like vegetables of fiber is a car. By the way. If you don't realize fiber is a carbohydrate, even fruits, he would say Well, but fruits have so much sugar. Yes, they do have sugar. But don't look at the sugar. Look at what else The sugar comes with. It comes with vitamins, minerals and nutrients and fiber, So I call it the sugar package. Yes, choose better carbs, but you don't have to get rid of carbs altogether. In fact, just, you know carbohydrates, Glucose is the number one fuel source that our body wants. Defeat our brain. Now you took a break from all this because you do this every single day and I read your book this week called the unspoken. Chicago is one of the main characters. Because you're from here. You live here You're It's absolutely a terrific guys. Your first book out. It's fantastic. It's a lot of fun. Yeah, You know, it's I'm glad you mentioned that it is a lot of fun. It's all about Chicago. And I'm so excited about for Chicagoans to read the book because it's our places. It's the North Side South side. It's West Side. It's on the lake. Um and people going to recognize the restaurant. You could. You could make a list off all the restaurants that the characters go either. You're like, Wow, Bandeira, you know. Chenango, which is a little plate of ST Mexican place. I like over the rest of, but here's the deal. The unspoken is about a former Chicago police detective who leaves the force because he won't participate in a cover up of bad shooting, and it becomes a private investigator in south Loop and he takes on very select cases in around the city. His first case is the case of a very wealthy, missing North shore girl. And it's fun. Like you said. It's twist and turn your guessing What's happening in Chicago, the city Our city is a character in the book. As I really excited for people to go to Amazon and check it out. It's already gotten by the way. Option to become a TV. Seriously. Nice. I saw that. That's awesome in. Yeah, Yeah, so anyway, yeah, It's a lot of fun. I've already written book to which is the sequel to it. The main character's name is ash cane so booked two comes out next October. It's called Wolf Point. Start with the unspoken I think it's a lot of fun..

"Everyone misses those things that I miss eating in restaurants. I miss traveling overseas, so no one hasn't my whole point. It gets me kind of riled up. No one owns missing. We all miss and we all miss deeply. However, we have to be patient and we have to be responsible and we have to be smart about it. This is one Those times they were being impatient. It's on ly going to prolong this thing. If that's what you're seeing now, which is seeing is because people just said, that's it. We're just way Don't care. I'm done. I'm doing what I want to do. And now what you're seeing are the rising numbers. Guys. We call this so I don't know what I don't know. I don't know if people are going to be Responsible enough to really practice but good, mitigating or reducing of transmission factors and protocol we talked about. So I think of vaccination is our only way out because it's not by the way if people did do it. If people did stay home, socially distance, avoided all these things to do now we could get this thing down to really low numbers day really low numbers across the country. But I don't know. I just don't see people doing it. We have some colleges and universities you can see on maps that are hot spots in the states that air they're rising and changing the dynamic of that county. Not based on the university, and these are young kids again. Like you said. They want to have a normal experience at school, and you know it's affecting the numbers. And community should be concerned about universities. Because these kids don't stand campus. They go shopping at target. They go to, you know, Fast food restaurant. They go get gas. They're everywhere. So it's not just about whether or not the campus is safe. It's about the community surrounding the campus where these kids are still a part of that community. And then unfortunately Most of those kids are gonna be fine, though, you know, get sick. Most of them are asymptomatic, but they'll infect someone else in the community who will not be fine, who's vulnerable with pre existing and doesn't fare well with you. I mean, this is once again the only way to get through this is together and we all have to be on the same page. This is not about Democrat Republican black, white, Hispanic Asian has nothing to do with that. This is a virus that doesn't see color doesn't see socio economic status is the host. Our host is a living body. That's all it cares about. So all of us are susceptible. And in order to stop this transmission, we all have to be smart together. Talk to Dr Ian Smith, host of TV's the doctors, There's more when we come back on 7 20, w GM Say Player on 7 20 W Jen, We're talking to Chicago's Dr Ian Smith, new host of the syndicated The doctors. So the book Dr Ian Mind Overweight came out earlier this year steps to curb cravings, find motivation and hitch your number in simple seven. Simple steps were the time right now where you know we're either eating really well at home because we're eating a lot more at home or we're cheating and were eating terribly. And this is a really good time in your life to start some new habits. 100% a mind overweight is all about what happens above the neck. I mean, so many people fail it plans or they start and they're not ableto finishes because their minds just not in the right place. I wrote this book. It's a small of the book. I wrote it because I wanted to encourage people that you do have motivation. You Khun is just a matter of finding the motivation and keeping it. It's a matter of fixing your relationship to food. How do you control your food environment? How even choose the right plan for you. Ah, lot of us make the you know bad goals. The wrong goals. Goals air are unreachable or two extremes And so mind Overweight is a book that really breaks it down in seven simple steps about how you can be ready to totally maximize whatever kind of dietary change you want to make Whatever kind of plan you're going to follow. This will help you maximize your performance and maximize your results. Well, and you have to be ready for change. I mean, you got to know that this isn't just a one day This isn't just dipping your toe into it. You gotta really train change your whole strategy. 100% and the first part of the book is about readiness. It's a whole quiz the Eureka which is an assessment, and basically, it says, Take this assessment and C. Are you really ready for change? Ah, lot of people think that they're ready, and they're really not ready. And by the way, it's okay not to be ready because it's just not your time and so many people start Changes in the life when they're not ready for change, and that makes it very difficult to succeed. It change, so that's why I start mind overweight with that, Andi see if you're ready. If you're ready, let's go. If you're not ready, let's retool. Let's work on something that's preventing you and then we can go. There's a lot of things that you conduce control that wait and eat right. But it is every bit of this is psychological. It is. I mean, I think you know 80% of its psychological because, you know, everyone knows you gotta eat better. Fewer calories, Good carbs, fruits, and that's what we've been saying this for years. There's no. You know, no one owns the patent on kind of this information. Um, And so you will love it unless you've been living on Iraq, You know, you know these things. It's just a manner of people having them in my detective me today. You know, she texts me every three months about trying to lose weight. I mean, And I said that you got to read mind overweight because you have to get your mind in the right spot. And it's not about what your heart is. Your heart says I want to do it. But the question is, is your mind ready to do it? And so You know that's that's my whole takeout, and I just wish people will, you know, slow down and think about it before you jump into a program in those cravings like sugar and theirs, But those there's alternatives to candy. I mean, there's a different way to kind of Have those sugar levels that you need. You just don't have to go with the with the junk food with the process, carbs and processed sugars. Yet in the book, I talk about some of those swamps when you crave sweets. There are plenty of things that are sweet and will satisfy that craving. But we'll have all the calories and all the processed ingredients. So many people, unfortunately, find themselves consuming. You know so many processed ingredients on debts owed illiterates to your health. And so I just feel like You know that This is of all times in the middle of this pandemic. We don't know what's coming over the next six months. We really need to hone up and our skills of really reshaping our bodies and how we approach our bias and look at our bodies and temples. Rather than kind of just wear him down and running down like you know, we wouldn't old car. You talk about different types of pasta. You should be eating beans, vegetables. I mean, there's different routes to go. Especially, you know, I look pasta I love but you know, I don't have to get the basic The basic pasta. There's there's alternatives. Chickpea pasta. It is wholly positive mean listen. By the time you put sauce on it, you can't tell the difference in the pasta. I don't hear anyone says you know, you do a taste test and you use whole wheat or chickpea pasta versus regular white pasta and you put a marineris sauce or A lemon wine sauce, Ana and it takes absolutely same. So, you know, I think that people should look for healthy alternatives, and you don't have to compromise taste. I mean, it's still you know, it's still something that's going to work. The one thing that I think I learned from all your books is not to skip meals. I think that's just something that's so easy to skip breakfast or skip lunch and think that That's going to help control your weight or help with your.

"This is the Glenn Beck Program. We want to play some audio that we played for yesterday, but I think this is stunning. It's about Joe Biden and the firing of Victor. Shokhin Victor Shokhin was like their attorney general over in the Ukraine. Now we have told you that. there. Was No. There was no evidence against Victor. Shokhin being corrupt everyone says always so corrupt so corrupt well, everybody was saying that. trump was in bed with the Russians. Everybody has been saying that that General Flynn was in bed with the Russians. We now know. They knew there was no evidence of that zero. The FBI was trying to close the case and the Obama. Administration kept it open. So we know how smears work. But I wanNA play some audio that I think should be played every day because we were told that the government of Ukraine new that he was corrupt everyone in Ukraine new the president even knew that they were corrupt, the president of Ukraine. New the Victor Shokhin was corrupt and had to be fired. Well, that doesn't seem to Jive with this new audio. This has been released because of a court. Procedure over in Ukraine where Joe Biden has now been named as a suspect. In a crime of interference with the government of Ukraine everything that we put out on the chalkboard. Looks as though the evidence is pointing to. It's going to be proven in a court of law and I want you to listen to this audio. The first piece is from John Kerry. We think he's on air, force two and he is calling Pro Shaneco. He is the former president of Ukraine and he's saying look. Joe, Biden is coming over and he wants he wants this in this prosecutor fired and He's corrupt and we want him fired. I want you to listen carefully to what he's saying and more importantly, what the president of Ukraine who is in the pocket of Russia and in the pocket of the Obama Administration what he says about Victor Shokhin listen. To get by. Security? Marcus. blocked. Cleanup. Security General's office in. Is Very concerned about I think it'd be good to drive have. Stop. posit there for second notice what he said he didn't. He didn't say he's corrupt. He said he's blocked. Some of the progress on some of the other. on some of the prosecution that we are interested in pursuing so I. He's not making the corrupt. He's saying he's slowing the process down and Joe. Biden wants him gone. So can you do anything to to work? Pass this, so we can get through because Joe. Biden wants him replaced continue. "All right so last night I did a TV show on the new civil rights era and I think we are in a civil rights crisis I think we are headed for to rubble. Because some of these states are absolutely out of control. Thank God it's not coming from the federal government. Thank God we have the federal government to run to and say hey justice, department. Can you investigate this? So, do you remember I think it was on Monday? When we played the audio of that Cop in New Jersey opening up the The gym in new, Jersey the Attila's Jim and he said you're all in violation. But how is day and I said on the air? It feels like A. Do you believe in miracles? Moment of the Olympics in the nineteen eighties. Got An update for you. That same COP that same guy. Came back to the Jim Fifty minutes later and started arresting people after the cameras had gone, he comes back and starts arresting people now. I don't know what happened. I don't know if he got his head handed to them. I don't know. But I mean it shows at very at the best it shows. He believed in something. Then got his head handed to him, and he folded on what he believes. I don't know if that I don't know what happened, but somebody who might is the owner of the Attila's Jim. His name is Ian Smith because he's got even more bad news. This Jim has now officially been closed in welcome to the program. How are you? Glenn, how are you? I be better if your story was better would first of all, let's start with the let's start with a cop. Do you know anything about this cop or How did he leave a hero and come back fifteen minutes later and start arresting people. We, we are very close knit with with local law enforcement at our Jim our Jim is is full of law enforcement, first responders, actor and veteran military a lot of these a lot of these guys. You know we know on a very personal level. I have never met that individual although I guess now I. I know He came and and that that first video clips where where everybody was rejoicing and changing USA. USA USA was was I what I believe to be true feelings When he came back later about fifty minutes later, it just so happened to be about ten minutes before Governor Murphy's press conference, so that leads me to believe along with with a lot of the other stuff that we've been hearing. that this stuff is coming straight down from the top that these guys are being put in a up position where they they, they have to choose between their jobs and their pensions and their livelihood. It's or You know or Kyw's got us. They've got to stand up. Police officers, please. The people will stand with you. Who will stand with you? You've got to stand up and and risk your job and I know that's a really big thing, but I'm telling you. The Justice Department will go all over this if people start firing, are cops like they did in Seattle? For just speaking out or doing the right thing a it's GonNa work out well for you in the end. Because I think that cop in Seattle, he could be a sheriff anywhere. People would elect him in any decent city. Not Seattle, but they they. They elect him sheriff. He'll get another job. It will pay ten fold if you just stand okay so now you found out last night that the health department came out and put notices all over your door that you are not allowed to open up because of the health department. Tell me about that. Correct so yesterday. governor Murphy in his press conference. address the gym and he said he mentioned something about you know continuing to pursue. US legally which I think, I think he he, he knows although he won't publicly admit it that he has no legal grounds to shut us down that we are protecting constitution, and that no matter what he says in his executive orders, or how many citations that he's handed us, which is three days worth now, so we're up to me and my partner up to I think seven each. Seven grand each. no seven tickets each seven tickets each okay. Yeah, so I think Governor Murphy. Truly knows that that he doesn't have a stand on where where that's concerned so He's you know he's resorted and he very very publicly stated that he's going to get. The health department involved coincidentally about two hours later. our Our sewage system was sabotaged by somebody stuffing. And entire role of commercial paper towels down into our toilets to the point where we did have to shut down the gym for the day so we are investigating how that happens, but we had. Three different plumbing crews come out last night that had to bring in some some legit equipment, not just like a snake plunger, but we had we had specialized trucks that had to come in and blast water into our pipes were to clear it out and they. They finally got that resolved, but they confirmed that that was very clearly purposely done that. Wasn't you know oops I flushed. You know one piece of paper down the toilet it was it was quite deliberate so we spent the night doing that. Franken I left at. About nine o'clock and In the middle of the night, somebody had I guess was was kind of passing the gym and they saw that there were four squad cars here in the middle of the night. As well as some other unmarked vehicles posting some stuff on the wall, and we have some pictures of that that we actually just handed over to Fox twenty nine news posting this stuff on the wall in the middle of the night, and it is basically an order of embargo. EMBARGO, it says, and the the health code violations we look them up are virtually vague There's not nothing specific that we did to violate and then, in addition to that no health department official has ever stepped foot inside of our building..

"Happenings around Cuomo and how everybody old around him seems to die but no you got the real important story. The spooky happenings in haunted houses. I was intrigued by this story and I wanted to reach out to one of the guys who is is mentioned in this story his name is Brent Underwood. He is the owner of Cerro Gordo. It's a ghost town And he says I don't believe in ghosts but spooky happenings have happened brand underwood. Welcome to the program. How are you sir? Good Morning? I'm doing pretty good. How are you well? I'm I'm pretty good now. You're you bought an abandoned silver mind right and and is this in Nevada or is this California. Where is this? It's about three hours outside of La. So it's in California. It's Kinda right by Mount Whitney. It gives you a point of reference in between valley and Sequoia National Parks. Okay what I would have put a wild place. Death Valley and Sequoia National Park right next to each other crazy. So so tell me you bought this and it looks beautiful. You bought this A while back you heard the stories of the ghost town and everything else but you don't you don't buy into that stuff too. You know I mean I about two years ago with some friends and it was a town that at one point in time it was the largest producer Silver California so there was more dollars than residents. All those people. Were telling me that that are used to be a murder per week in the town. And the miners used to line their bunkbeds with sandbags Top stray bullets in the middle of the night. And so even even stuff like that. Or there's a cemetery on site and so the the the ghost stories were abundant before buying it but I kind of brushed them all away. You know I'm say I wasn't. It goes believer But then about two months ago when when the Kobe crisis that are our caretaker when he took a live in caretaker that lives here he wanted to go on with his wife so I Packed up my stuff in Austin where I typically live and headed out and I've been here ever since and so you say you weren't a believer in Ghost and now you are what happened. I think it goes in increments you know I. It's easy to push away these things and rationalize them way but I think my first entry into that fear was one night. I was walking to watch the sunset. And there's twenty two buildings here so there's quite a few buildings One of the buildings. It's called the bunk house and it's a eight bedroom house that all the miners day when I lived here. And how those going past? I noticed something in the living room that opened up the curtain and close the curtain and the light was on in the living room and I hadn't noticed the latest on the move in that building before so I went in there and I turned off the white and I put a padlock on the door and keep them on the key to this to the padlock. And the town's about thirty miles from the closest town and World of eight hundred fifty eight thousand feet elevation. It's not like they're squatters. In their neighbors right that might be messing around and so turned off the light. One about my day was just the not a big deal. Next night I went back to go to sunset again and the light was on again in the in the living room and so I on padlocked it and I always light on the flip. The switch was back up to me. I jump to like Oh sure it was faulty electric city of that but I think being alone in a town With a history like this it definitely raise my kind of like I guess inner question I guess I should say and then later in the how no go ahead go ahead couple of nights later so a couple of a couple of nights later. I was that I was staying in In the middle of the night is probably agree or four in the morning. A booked off the shelf and again. This is the House that there's no draft I have no pets up your own the catalog there's no rat- And then as I woke up I said overall sense something else in the House with me and when I did this I think she just looked towards the ground. You know I thought maybe it was like an animal type but nothing there and I just couldn't escape the feeling and then after that there's in pretty quick succession. That things are moving around. You know. Wallet went from one House to the House. And just all these things that I couldn't explain where if you're there sitting alone in the middle of the night and a town thirty miles from note from anybody else. You start jumping to conclusions. I Guess Yeah So. That's what I was an ask you brandon. I mean you know you're in a town where there are stories of ghosts and You're all by yourself in the middle of nowhere. I mean I freak out. I have a cabinet in the middle of absolutely nowhere as well and I've been there by myself at times and when I'm there by myself honestly I keep my gun close because at nine to start hearing things like I don't know man what it. What was that? What was that. Do you think this was just playing with you. Your mind was playing with you. Maybe a little bit but I think I I mean more to. You'RE GONNA I keep golf club in the bed with me. I don't know how effective Golf Clubs. Oregon's ghost you know You know we'll find out but guns right it was. I definitely try to rationalize I. "Era. And and I think we are in a civil rights crisis I think we are headed for Rubble because some of these states are absolutely out of control. Thank God it's not coming from the federal government will thank God. We have the federal government to run to and say hey justice department. Can you investigate this? So do you remember. I think it was on Monday when We played the audio of that Cop in New Jersey. Opening up the The Gym in New Jersey. The Attila's Jim and he said you're all in violation. But how would is day and I said on the air. It feels like A. Do you believe in miracles moment. You know kind of that moment of the Olympics in the one thousand nine hundred well I got an update for you. That same COP. That same guy came back to the Jim. Fifty minutes later and started arresting people after the cameras had gone. He comes back and starts arresting people. Now I don't know what happened. I don't know if he got his head handed to them. I don't know but I mean it shows at very at the best it shows. He believed in something then got his head handed to him and he folded on what he believes. I don't know if I don't know what happened. But somebody who might is the owner of the Attila's Jim. His name is Ian Smith because he's got even more bad news. This Jim has now officially been closed. Ian Welcome to the program. How are you Glenn? How are you? I be better if your story was better would first of all. Let's start with the. Let's start with a cop. Do you know anything about this cop. Or or how did he leave a hero and come back fifteen minutes later and start arresting people We we are very close. Knit with with local law enforcement at our Jim Our Jim is is full of Law Enforcement First Responders Actor and veteran military A lot of these a lot of these guys you know we know on a very personal level. I have never met That individual Although I guess now I know He came And and that that I sort of video clips where Where everybody was rejoicing and chanting. Usa USA USA was Was I what I believe to be? True feelings when he came back later About fifty minutes later it just so happened to be about ten minutes before governor. Murphy's press conference so that leads me to believe along with with a lot of the other stuff that we've been hearing That this stuff is coming straight down from the top that these guys are being put in a In a position where they they. They have to choose between their jobs and their pensions and their livelihood Or or guys got us. They've got to stand up. Police officers pleased. The people will stand with. You will stand with you. You've got to stand up and and risk your job and I know that's a really big thing but I'm telling you the Justice Department will go all over this if people start. Firing are cops like they did in Seattle for just speaking out or doing the right thing a. It's GonNa work out well for you in the end. Because I think that cop in Seattle he could be a sheriff anywhere people would elect him in any decent city not Seattle but they they would elect him. Sheriff he'll get another job. It will pay ten. Fold if you just stand okay. So now you found out last night that the health department came out and put notices all over your door that you are not allowed to open up because of the health department. Tell me about that correct So yesterday Governor Murphy and his press conference Address the gym And he said he mentioned something about you know continuing to pursue legally which I think I think he he knows although he won't publicly admit it that he has no legal grounds to shut us down that that we are protected constitution and that no matter what he says in his executive orders or how many citations that he's had us which is three days for us. Now so we're up to eight Me and my partner up to I think. Think seven each Seven grand each No seven tickets each seven tickets each. Okay yeah so I think Governor Murphy truly knows that that he doesn't have a leg to stand on where where concerned so He's he's resorted and he put very very publicly stated that he's going to get the health department involved. Um Coincidentally About two hours later Our Our sewage system was sabotaged by Somebody stuffing and entire role of commercial paper towels down into our toilets to the point where we did have to shut down the gym for the day So we are investigating how that happens but we had three different plumbing crews come out last night that had to bring in some some legit equipment not just like a snake in a plunger but we had we had specialized trucks that had to come in and Last water into our pipes and order to clear it out and they. They finally got that resolved but they confirmed that that was very clear. Elite purposely done that. Wasn't you know I flushed? You know one piece of of paper down the toilet it was. It was quite deliberate So we spent the night doing that. Franken I left at about nine o'clock and In the middle of the night somebody had I guess was was kind of passing the gym and they saw that there were four squad cars here in the middle of the night as well as some other unmarked vehicles Posting stuff on the wall and we have some pictures of that That we actually just handed over to Fox. Twenty nine news Posting stuff on the wall in the middle of the night and it is Basically an order of embargo it says and the health code violations. We looked them. Up are are extremely vague There's not nothing specific that we did violate In addition to that no health Department official has ever stepped foot inside of our building. As long as we've owned it So the wording in a very vague it just refers to corona virus spreading and stuff like that. But we're the only business in the entire Strip mall that that seems to be closed So it's it's a little baffling I don't understand how they can come in and shut us down without even inspecting our facilities. There's there's things on there that mentioned poor ventilation If you would just inside our our facilities we have an air scrubber inside We have an HMO system that works perfectly fine Facility is elated. There's a ton of measures that we've taken so it's flimsy at best And we have our lawyers working on it and and we plan to open up tomorrow. I have to tell you IAN I. I'm about to lose my mind and I think America feels the same way I talked to a woman yesterday. She's a salon owner. They said they were going to arrest or this is in Oregon. They didn't arrest her. They have threatened to pull her BIZ. Business License Yeah and then they sent child protective services to our house. That's crazy. This is such an abuse of power. I was going to happen to us as well. We have. We have a fifteen year old at home And and you know it it. It keeps her up at night. All of the potential blowback from this. You know because she's she's you know she's stands behind me Or at my side with all of this You know but you know it's It's it's pretty scary. When when government organizations are weaponized against the public you know the Department of Health IS THERE TO PROTECT US. You know and for the most part. That's that's what they do as their job. But you know. These governors are weaponising. These organizations that are meant to protect the public to enforce You know there will and that. That's a pretty scary thing you know and then same thing with with child protective services that organization is there to protect Children But it's being used in the case of the salon owner in Oregon as a as a as a weapon against her And that's that's pretty alarming. You know that's that's very scary in stay in touch with us. Let us know what's happening. Don't let a day go by if they're upping if they're using another weapon make sure you reach out to us. Okay absolutely I. I'll keep you guys in touch. And what is the? What is the GOFUNDME page? If people WANNA help you know help you with your legal bills So the go fund me was set up by one of our members And that is a defense fund. Not only for US auto owners but we have a bunch of member slash volunteers who have been helping us. Stay open during this time As well as all of our members because some of them have been arrested and charged We have set up that legal on and our lawyers have agreed to represent everybody. So that's going to pay for the cost of the lawyers as well as any fines or punishment incurred by any member or patron of the facility or any volunteer as well and that's available on our social media There's a link on Excuse me or instagram. Which is a Tillis? Jim Belmar So yeah and we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA keep pushing forward you know we're we're definitely not going to back down and we are very thankful that remember. "Era, and and I think we are in a civil rights crisis I. Think we are headed for rubble. Because, some of these states are absolutely out of control. Thank, God, it's not coming from the federal government will thank God. We have the federal government to run to and say hey justice department. Can you investigate this? So. Do you remember I? Think it was on Monday. When we played the audio of that Cop in new, jersey, opening up the The gym in new, Jersey the Attila's Jim and he said you're all in violation. But how would is day and I said on the air? It feels like A. Do you believe in miracles moment you know kind of that moment of the Olympics in the one thousand nine hundred. Well I got an update for you. That same COP that same guy. Came back to the Jim Fifty minutes later and started arresting people after the cameras had gone, he comes back and starts arresting people now I. Don't know what happened I. Don't know if he got his head handed to them I. Don't know. But I mean it shows at very at the best it shows. He believed in something. Then got his head handed to him, and he folded on what he believes. I don't know if I don't know what happened, but somebody who might is the owner of the Attila's Jim. His name is Ian Smith because he's got even more bad news. This Jim has now officially been closed Ian Welcome to the program. How are you? Glenn. How are you? I be better if your story was better would first of all, let's start with the let's start with a cop. Do you know anything about this COP or or How did he leave a hero and come back fifteen minutes later and start arresting people. we, we are very close knit with with local law enforcement at our Jim Our Jim is is full of law enforcement, first responders, actor and veteran military a lot of these a lot of these guys. You know we know on a very personal level I have never met that individual although I guess now I know He came and and that that I sort of video clips where where everybody was rejoicing and chanting USA. USA USA was Was I what I believe to be true feelings When he came back later about fifty minutes later. It just so happened to be about ten minutes before Governor Murphy's press conference, so that leads me to believe along with with a lot of the other stuff that we've been hearing. that this stuff is coming straight down from the top that these guys are being put in a in a position where they they, they have to choose between their jobs and their pensions and their livelihood. It's or Or, guys got us. They've got to stand up police officers pleased. The people will stand with you. Will stand with you. You've got to stand up and and risk your job and I know that's a really big thing, but I'm telling you. The Justice Department will go all over this if people start firing, are cops like they did in Seattle for just speaking out or doing the right thing? A It's GonNa work out well for you in the end. Because I think that cop in Seattle, he could be a sheriff anywhere. People would elect him in any decent city. Not Seattle, but they they would. Elect him sheriff, he'll get another job. It will pay ten fold if you just stand okay so now you found out last night that the health department came out and put notices all over your door that you are not allowed to open up because of the health department. Tell me about that. Correct so yesterday. governor Murphy and his press conference. address the gym and he said he mentioned something about you know continuing to pursue. Legally which I think, I think he. He knows although he won't publicly admit it that he has no legal grounds to shut us down that that we are protected constitution, and that no matter what he says in his executive orders, or how many citations that he's had us, which is three days for us now, so we're up to eight ME and my partner up to I think think seven each. Seven grand each. no seven tickets each seven tickets each okay. Yeah, so I think Governor Murphy truly knows that that he doesn't have a leg to stand on where where concerned, so he's, he's resorted and he put very very publicly stated that he's going to get the health department involved Um coincidentally about two hours later. our Our sewage system was sabotaged by somebody, stuffing and entire role of commercial paper towels down into our toilets to the point where we did have to shut down the gym for the day so we are investigating how that happens, but we had. Three different plumbing crews come out last night that had to bring in some some legit equipment, not just like a snake in a plunger, but we had, we had specialized trucks that had to come in and last water into our pipes in order to clear it out and they. They finally got that resolved, but they confirmed that that was very clear. Elite purposely done that. Wasn't you know I flushed? You know one piece of of paper down the toilet. It was it was quite deliberate so we spent the night doing that. Franken I left at. About nine o'clock and In the middle of the night somebody had I guess was was kind of passing the gym and they saw that there were four squad cars here in the middle of the night. "Seven twenty WGN we're talking Dr Ian Smith his new book is mind over weight so we were talking a lot about the fact that losing weight and eating healthier is all psychological and you have to have the right motivation to do so one of the chapters focuses on boosting your confidence because committing to any plan can be challenging and you have to be in the right place yeah absolutely and most people but not most but some people don't know they think that they're confident but they don't realize that they they have some holes in their confidence and so I begin that chapters chapter five I begin that begin at chapter chapter with people taking little survey little assessment tool it's called the Rosenberg self esteemed scale and what it does is it to ask you several questions and you give an answer and you kind of you know you grade the questions numerically and then you figure out where you are but yeah I think that you know I'll stop what sign the people lack confidence you know do you feel compelled to always explain yourself in your decisions are you currently searching for needing approval from others for validation are you over the defensive are you unable to enjoy the present because you fear for the future you know there's a whole list of things here it's interesting I bet some people email me and say wow I thought I was a very calm person but after doing the assessment scale and then look at some of the items that represent a lack of confidence I have something to work on well and you've got some good confidence mantra if by the way when I was looking at them I thought the kind of the same thing to myself as well as a couple things on here I'm a little iffy on so you know it it kind of help you kind of figure out yourself a little bit so you can make the right commitment to eating better and so forth no one is perfect I can make mistakes like anyone it doesn't make me feel any less of a person I will not stop until I win every day will do something that makes me better and puts me closer to my goal there's a ton of these things in here that I think you help provide that path for motivation I gotta tell you I I can't say this enough this book this small little broke which I purposely made its mark on people to make I want to be acceptable to people I want the price point the price points low it's like only thirteen ninety nine Amazon but this book is full of little nuggets that just don't apply to weight loss that they apply the overall life I mean you know I think I love thinking about life I love thinking about philosophy and I really wanted to give people this little guide here that will help them rethink some things or look at some things to a different land sometimes you look at something even look at for a long time with a different lens you see it differently and you can internalize it differently and I really believe that this comp this chapter on boosting your confidence can apply to everybody I meet I'm a confident person but there are times I should lose my confidence and I think that some of the strategies here can be extremely effective for people all around the life of course beyond we lost contact in two one seven how do you set reasonable goals goals based on on on your needs like what do you how do you plan those goals out because you know what is it about I'm lose twenty pounds to lose thirty pounds like where do you start to set goals yeah chapter two is all about how to build or create the right goals listen set the right goals here's the deal you start with the number of course right so I want to lose thirty pounds but that's just the beginning now we gotta go to work we're gonna take that number and figure out over what time span we want to lose it I wanna lose thirty pounds over eight months over six months five months whatever it is but you wanna make sure it's a reasonable goal people who want to lose weight to to fast are asking themselves to try to meet other reasonable that they're unlikely to meet and they become discouraged and disappointed and they think that the plant has failed when it really hasn't filled just the gold wrong so in the book I take you through strategies how do you know you said the big goals at the smaller gold settles milestones break it down in two weeks we got thirty pounds lose let's break it down that way in per week of what we I need to lose about what some of those we should lose no bounds you should put that in there this is a zero week you could be going on vacation you may have a bad week so give yourself an off week but I really think that people set goals better they would be more motivated and they would actually hit their goals a lot easier because they have it all strategize just making a blanket statement I will lose thirty pounds and then try to lose it is not good well and I also know retraining your brain is a big part of this too because most of your philosophy and a lot of this is you know you have to retrain your brain so you know you're you're out you're having someone sporting a dessert with you have a little cherry pie don't have to have the whole slice you could take a couple you get you must retrain yourself yeah you know what I could have one bite maybe two and I'm fine but his baby it's satisfied me was a little treat it satisfied me a little bit a lot of it is about retraining your way of thinking of how much is too much and what's best for you Hey that's all I am in the bulls game and I go to the bulls game I love that rainbow cake it's a huge I thank him for people right now but you know what I think three or four bytes and I'm good and and and I could push it to the side I eat a pretzel you have to press on good so yeah you're right it's about re training your brain and saying listen this is enough to satisfy something I missed some have been wanting but you don't have to once again you don't gorge on it because you really want to get yourself in a position where you can enjoy some of those things are considered to be fun food and you don't want to be in a set of deprivation so you got to enjoy it reasonably absolutely Dr Ian Smith the new book is mind overweight curb cravings find motivation and hit your number in seven simple steps and for a more in Dr Ian visit Dr Ian Smith can you spell out doctor Dr Ian Smith dot com always a pleasure yet you always get me motivated I'm gonna I'm gonna put down the donut man I'm put that down no more oreos for me put it down and pick it up in a couple weeks give it up a little bit every once in awhile I appreciate things like that are doing well all right all right all right radio hall of.

He has created to national health initiatives, the fifty million pound challenge. And the makeover mile is a graduate of Harvard Columbia, and the university of Chicago's Pritzker school of medicine, he is currently the medical contributor and co host of the nationally, syndicated television show, the Rachel Ray show, and you can find his websites at SRI. Life dot com. And Dr Ian Smith dot com on Twitter at and Smith. An Instagram at Dr Ian Smith, we're talking about cleaning lean his newest book, New York Times bestseller. This is an incredible book. It really is her so much information here you guys. It's fantastic. Book today. We're, we're, we're talking specifically about snacks and condiments. And we're going to get to a little bit of intermittent fasting here before the break. We were actually reading the labels of condiments, and we discovered high amounts in sodium and some of them and sugar. And so I'm going to ask you, this, Dr Smith. What are some other ingredients, are that aren't specifically and condiments that we really should stay away from? Really, is about the sugars so there are a lot of sugars that people don't realize are sugars in the book. I give a list of some of the names of sugars but, you know, things like a richer tall. You know, as problematic when you see all L in the word, it's, it's typically artificial sweetener, and so people should be careful that MSG, of course, is very concerning. Monosodium glutamate, you have to be careful of. And so, you know, all these different kind of processed ingredients that can't pronounce typically, you can't pronounce it, and you don't recognize it. It's probably artificial chemical. And we have to be careful of consuming, because they really tend to shop, our hormones really important for people to know that people are confused as to why they're not losing weight, even though they think they're getting healthy and it may not be that they're eating too many calories. But it's that they're eating food to have all these different chemicals in them. Well, you know and children eat so much catch up and I have. To say, I found a product, I'm just gonna I don't typically do this, but it's spicy catch-up primal kitchen. It's organic and it's unsweetened. And I don't know if you've had it, Dr Smith. But it is incredible. Have you ever had it? I've never had it. But it sounds good sound. We'll let me read the ingredients organic tomato. Concentrate organic masonic vinegar. Sounds like you, you concocted this. Less than two two percent of salt, organic jalapeno powder organic spices, organic, onion powder and and organic garlic powder. That's all the that's in it, and it's fantastic. This is what I'm being by having a product that has very a small amount of, of ingredients in there. And you look at those ingredients and agreements don't have to Ganic, by the way, but they have to be what they are. I mean you can recognize all those things that there that are in that, you know, in that ingredients list. And that's what's really important. And that's how you become a better food detective. I love that food detective. Well, speaking of food detectives, you know, have to ask you this going back to the MS G, and why we need to be aware of it because so many people say that there is nothing to worry about, and there was a recent story that Chick-fil-A is puts it in their food, which, of course, Chick-fil-A is a very successful chicken chain in America. I might they might even be worldwide now. I don't even know. But but what about MSG should we be concerned? You just. Yeah. I mean, you know, MSP you know, has been a concern for a long time. Typically, find it also, by the way in a lot of Chinese food, even a lot of Chinese restaurants, are, you know, not. Allowing it's caught by late monosodium glutamate. And basically, it's the salt version of an amino acid, which is glutamate and it can occur, naturally and foods, by the way like you can find it gnashing tomatoes, and she's is, but it's often made in a laboratory for commercial reasons and it's used around the world. And the reason why people use it, by the way. It's a flavor enhancer so you, you commonly can find in canned vegetables, and soups, and processed meats and Chinese food. And you know, it's interesting, the FDA basically has classified it as generally regarded as safe that the terminology generally regarded as safe but it's still very controversial. I mean there've been reports of people having headaches, heart palpitations, chest pain, nausea weakness, wedding, and so people can have reaction to MSG at least I'm anecdotally. So it has been controversial. And so the major the, the, you know, majority of people recommend not eating food containing MSG. And in fact, a lot of manufacturers are. Aware of this, and they're letting no no MSG on the label. So you are aware that it's free of that. Well, I appreciate you clarifying for us because there is a lot of confusion around so many of these ingredients. And in part because the FDA, you know, allows a lot of these things to get past that maybe shouldn't be, and especially I worry so much about children with their little bodies. You know, getting so many so many contaminants in their food when we began a disppearing this afternoon about your book, cleaning lean we talked, you talked about one of the main things two of the top things in this book that you focus on our reducing processed foods and intermittent, fasting intermittent fasting is become very popular, along with the Kita, genyk diet, tr traditionally people do both together. So what do we need to know about intermittent fasting? Fasting is not starvation. It's very important to know. Immig fascinated, you're gonna choose a window of the day where you're going to be doing all your eating, and this case cleanly, and you get three meals and three snacks. Then you're going to choose a window. The day where you're going. Do your fast and fascinated you can't have any food calories..

Ian Smith is written the New York Times bestselling book shred and blast that sugar out. His newest book is the clean twenty. Hello, Dr Smith. Hey, hawaii. Thanks for having me. I have this argument with friends and family all the time. Dr the oh, I got her eliminate all carbohydrates, or I'm just not gonna lose any weight to which I usually respond. Okay. What happens when you go back to eating carbohydrates? Am. I correct. That is a great response. And the other response, I would say to people is that, you know, carbs are unnecessarily vilified carbs are great. In fact, carbs are the body number one source preferred source for fuel and we've taken this macro nutrient. There are three macronutrients carbs one of them. We've taken this one macro nutrient, and we're giving it like a bad name carbs are great. The problem is people are eating too, many of the bad carbs. And so the clean twenty is a program that definitely allows carbs. There's this whole grain whole wheat bread whole grain whole wheat, pasta most programs allow you to have that. But we want to focus on the better cards because we do need carbs wanna eat them in a better way. Well, let's just get right into the pasta thing because I'm a fan of pasta. I have it in very carefully measured doses. But I like to make my own pasta. Is that better than the store bought process, pasta one hundred percent, okay? Wow. That's. That's a pretty beautiful labor. Love that. You made your own boss. A yeah. It is better. And you know, I tell you all the time. Listen people look at Brown pasta. And they kind of like turn their nose up addicts. They think it's not gonna taste great white, pasta and Brown pasta. When you put sauce and spice and herbs in there. You can't tell the difference. Yeah. But the whole grain whole wheat pasta has so much more nutritional value for for you. It's lowering the glycemic index, which means it raises. Your blood sugar's a lot slower than white pasta. And so I'm a big proponent of whole grain whole wheat pasta. But the book if you look on page sixteen to clean twenty you have all kinds of foods that aren't on.
