In health news this morning Disparities and obesity rates are widening for US children. That's according to a new draft study out just this week. Federal survey data suggests the gap in obesity trends between children from high -income families and rest the of America's kids is growing. Around 14 % of kids from rich families were obese through 2020 down from 17 % back in data through 2008. Trends are going in the opposite direction among other American kids. 25 % of kids from middle -income families were obese through 2020 up from 21 % through 2008. Hip -hop turns 50 reinventing itself and swaths of the world are along the way. AP correspondent Margie Zaraleta reports for August 1973 11th is credited as the date for the birth of hip -hop that is when 18 year old Campbell Clive who went by DJ Cool Herc threw a back -to -school party for his younger sister in an apartment building in the Bronx. At that point there weren't too many people playing flute the so it was something of a novelty and the reason we got noticed so it didn't do any harm to be an playing unusual instrument. Ian Anderson says the flute made Jethro Tull different from other rock bands. A few tried people have to bring the flute into the world of progressive rock since then but I suppose the prominent nature of the flute in Jethro Tull music is more akin to the role of the electric guitar. Braves RHP Ian Anderson to have season-ending surgery
"Atlanta Braves right hander Ian Anderson will have Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the season. Tests showed Anderson has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow Anderson won ten games for Atlanta last season after playing a key role in its 2021 World Series championship. The 24 year old Anderson began the season at triple-A gwinnett after control problems prevented him from landing a spot in the Atlanta rotation. He issued 8 walks and 7 and a third innings this spring and the struggles continued in his only start for gwinnett. I'm geffen coolbaugh.
