"The top. 10 can't seven hashtag justice for glitter, but The thing that's really interesting about this is that it wasn't the anniversary of this album. It was just It just happened very organically over Twitter because her fan base decided that it was time for people to be able to hear something that she had really tried to bury for a long time and that in the cultural consciousness wasn't as well known. As anything else that she had done well. And you know the reason I find the story of glitter so interesting. Because it shows How much Mariah has remained important even as the music industry has changed, and she's still been able To come out on top in many ways, in spite of all the changes And how much the Internet Change what it means to make a hit. You know, when Mariah Carey was walking into her glitter phase, there was a very surefire way to guarantee a number one album and a number one song. It was a formula. That was filtered through record labels and executives who knew how to do this. Flash forward. The way to get a number one album. Is entirely different. Like what does the story of glitter say about just how much the music industry has changed period? I think it says a lot. So I think that in the early two thousands, we were just starting to see, Um the paradigms of the music industry changed completely because that's when Napster and other file sharing services started to pick up. And gain a lot more momentum. And that changed the way that people value music so dramatically because I remember being a kid and it costs $18 to buy a CD. And now it's almost unimaginable to think that that wasn't that long ago. Because now people have The expectation that music is going to be on demand and you can listen to it for free, maybe with some ads, but that that was just picking up steam around then I don't think that that would have necessarily affected glitter sales right at that time. But in the ensuing years we saw the iPod come out. We saw people starting to purchase music digitally. Then we started seeing the influx of streaming services. At the same time, the paradigms of fandom started to change. So Back then. I mean, I think it's very charming that Mariah Carey used to leave voice messages for her fans and call them lambs. Be like, Hey, lamb, like, thanks for supporting my album. Thank you So much for our support Everybody I know who kept calling and emailing and doing all that I love you and I really appreciate you and beyond and Julia But now people can engage with their fans acknowledging them on Twitter or instagram or something like that. But also fans have a lot more sway. Now, Um it's something where People aren't just lining up outside the Disney store because something is coming out that they're interested in like they have real power and capital to sway algorithms and this way sales and I think that artists and record companies alike know that and I think that's what's prompting this. Different kind of relationship between fans and creators. But also glitter is perhaps the biggest example of the magnitude of which, like Pop would change as well. You know, Mariah Carey was making glittery bubble gum, pop R and B for years, And then the national mood changed in music change after 9 11, and if you hear her albums after that, even the ones that were more successful. The sound of them was different, too. It's true. I think that overnight the appetite for anything that was even remotely, I guess decadent is a good way to phrase it just I think that that really soured in people's minds in something so Glittery and just so different than what the national mood was capturing felt off. And it wasn't her fault. I mean, how are you going to know that that was going to happen? I think it was just unfortunate timing was What I also see in the story of Mariah and glitter and justice for glitter and the rebound of this flop, really? Is a way in which what we think is good or bad changes over time. Mhm and the ways in which music fandom in the age of streaming is inherently different, which you've alluded to already. If I think of the lamb, Ili now and how it really just kind of cares from Araya. And her entire discography because they have access to all of it on the man whenever they want. It's a respect for her. It matters less whether Glitter was good or bad. It matters that glitter is there and that you can support it. And if you're her true fan, you should If you love her, you support her right and that kind of fandom. It is all.

I'm just worried that snow is gonna be really heavy when I try to shovel it, but I think it'll be That's the most dangerous thing in the world shoveling snow, more heart attacks. Back injuries shoveling snow Woo, Don't do it! Get it! Get one of those one of those illegal aliens to come Do it Now. I've been doing it for years. I do it in the legs. I take it a lot of depressed, but you're right. Like if someone is not used to regular exercise do not do not so much that Yeah. Are we gonna get a stimulus? Uh, bill? Is anything gonna happen? Or if they're just gonna keep talking? You know what? We're really close to it Now. I think we'll get something before the weekend or maybe early Saturday. Something like that, and you know there's some good things in it. I think it's good that Americans will get Check of probably. I think they're gonna get maybe $900 or maybe six. You know, they're not sure about how much money we're going to get everyone's going to get. But I really wish mark that this bill Was really addressing with the real problem is with job creation and with job recovery. I don't think it's doing that. I think this is a bill that will mostly benefit the companies that have already made a bundle on the whole covert lockdowns. I think another one. This is a real benefit for the targets the Wal Mart, the Amazons, especially and the banks and that that that we don't want to have this. There's no way to recover the economy without helping those names that I just said. But I would mortgage rectally like to help the small, medium sized businesses that can't reopen and can't hire again then then help them out just Cuomo shutdown of indoor dining in New York City where, By the way the rate is much lower than Long Island or Western, what the hell was he thinking? He's going to kill another 10,000 mom and pop businesses. Those restaurants Well, that's exactly what I'm talking about. If I were in charge of this covert relief bill, one of the main things I would put in there is to give every business the right to refuse these lockdowns and say. We're not gonna lock down we you know you can find us if we have more than a certain you know, crazy, no larger number than usual in our in our in our establishment. And if you prove that our establishment somehow had some kind of Role to play in the spread. As you've said many times, we have no scientific evidence that the restaurants have been places where people are are spreading this now crowded bar, you know that I could. That might be different. I can understand that to some degree But I would if I were you know if I were in Congress, I said, Let's give these businesses some of some protection from people who who maybe have it, you know, maybe try to sit, you know, in a nuisance lawsuit, or more importantly, give them protection from their governors and their mayors who are just willing Ili closing businesses here and there with her without any kind of scientific evidence. By the way, mark, that's what we're going to need to really get the jobs coming back. We had another weekly jobless report this morning. That wasn't good. That's very easy to understand Amazon and Wal Mart and target They do a little bit of extra hiring, but they don't not gonna do any more extra hiring in the usually do really in a large numbers. It's the smaller businesses is the restaurant. It's a mom and pop stores. That is what always drives job creation in this country, and they need protection from these non scientific power hungry governors and mayors. What if we get a bite administration? It looks like we could. They're not gonna know They're not going to do anything for that. And obviously, Pelosi and company are going they love these democratic governors and their lockdowns. So and what happens if if we lose the Senate, then what kind of world are we gonna be going into in January? That's what's really disasters. And what I don't understand is why there's all this campaigning and talking about what's going to go on these two run offs in Georgia without addressing this problem of ballot harvesting. And and and mail in votes, which we know is Listen. I understand there's a lot of people out there from people who are not so high information in news people to people who are pretty well, various to think this is all quite crazy Conspiracy theory stuff, So I'm gonna put that aside for a second. Folks, If you don't have a secret ballot, which vote by mail is not vote by mail is not a secret ballot. If you don't have a secret ballot, then you don't have a democracy and then you don't have a legitimate election. I'm sorry. But if you anyone who knows any basic American history knows there were times when the secret ballot was breached by Corp You know my company owners and by local politicians, and we had, you know, really corrupt governments to come from that. So that's the first problem. I can't understand why we're going about this election in Georgia, and I guess you know, early January Without addressing this problem. Ballot Harvesting is also not a secret ballot. That's when people go around the houses in the neighborhood of basically fill out a ballot for you and get you to sign it..

So it's It's not something you want to plant where you're gonna have to keep it shaped up and all that because you'd be keeping it shaped up every two weeks for the rest your life. Yeah, I heard you say it sounds like a perfect plan. And they I don't think you're heard of. I mean, of course, Privet. Now, all that is a pretty common Yeah, It's pretty common. You say it a lot. You know, subdivisions and stuff like that. A lot of times is planning. It's like 95 times. 95% of the time It's playing in the wrong spot, and somebody is working yourself to death trying to keep it. Oh, and check because it's not a plant. You need to be deep need to be doing that, with its its a plant that you need to put out. Again in a in a area where you don't wanna mess with Right, Well, I'll get very wide. It'll get about 10 FT Deep and forget about 15 I've seen in 20 ft. Tall, but that's you know that that's we've got some here at the Garden Center Ah, that are planted. For that, you know, as a screen for that same reason and ah, they're probably 18 ft. Tall, But if you see one that big most of time, it's has been there for been there for a long time. Actually, I have one planet at your store. Yeah, I sell them here at the Garden Centre. What do they use their legs during winter? No, it's ah, It's evergreen plants. So it's you've got a Impenetrable barrier from now. Is that what you please? Our colleagues are something like that. It's cat kind of. Ah, it's got kind of a dusty white look to it on the new foliage and as that new foliage Kind of hardens off. It turns to a green, but most of time when you say, alien Agnes, it's kind of a powdery looking color. So apparently, I don't have no issues with fast then. I don't know of anything outside of the birds that it puts on Barry's in the spring and the birds the base. You won't even see him that there be on the inside of the plant. But they'll they'll start out like of it looks almost like a little Ah, Bloem shaped pair about the size of appeal. And if they hang on there too long are they when they wrap and they turn kind of a red color? And the barge, man, I They love him, but there are You know, the only thing you plan them. Fours is a screen. Well, is it unattractive? No, it's good looking plant pretty good looking plant, but if you want If you want to keep it looking for do you have to permit every two weeks because it really grows aggressive. May. It has like shoots. It comes off of it all over the place. So if you want to keep it looking decent yet to keep it purring like that. Most people you can't keep After that much. I made it work, you know? I'm kind of looking that guy's ideal thing I'm looking for. I don't hate the person but you know, it's kind of sore looking area and I like that, you know, it's kind of Scream it out, sir. Or speak. Yes, maybe a good plan. You just don't want to put it. You don't want it. You don't want to have the best with what? I'm getting that Okay, so l e. A Gets ill e a D in U. S. Okay? All right, you go Googling 20, Agnes or your phone? So it was good and they have a basement like a, you know, Worth, Duggan? So it's amazing. They have water issues have issues, but what we did is we got a curry house. Got a free house yet. So what we did is we took the dirt and sloped it away from the house to you know, so the dirt we took out of the Swail. We put it against the House Bank, the water off of it, So we we dug a swell to take the water away. Then we put dirt against the house to push waterway. We've planted shrubs in that so it'll help. You know, keep everything. Didn't firms like a pinball machine of water, right? Just got a direct? Yeah, minus show where to go. If some of the time it's that way, curious will We left him there. And we've bent down and John and Megan, is there down there? This kind of river Chena River CI All is at the very back around. Aya Back River Chief. I got the opportunity to come Look at that job the other day way. Ah, that's the biggest job we've done all year. Ah, that job. We built two walls. We built one around. They've got a back dick. That's a big old day well under the day. It was slow and it was just dirt and the deck is like 12 FT, off as tall as 12 Ft. Off the ground are better. Ah, in the front. We'll what we did is we came around there built a wall around it because it's sloped under that thing. And I went in there as we're building a wall with backfield was sold, and then we came in and gravel that whole thing, then around one corner of the driveway. It just really dropped off fast. Right there. We built another wall. There's about 6 ft. Tall and came around. Um You know, just kind of hooked around the back corner that half of of that corner of the driveway. Um and then we went in. He had a big his whole backyard was a forest. And he had most of the trees cut out of it, but he left three trees out there with me and just want to look at the first time. Um we said, man, you are take the last £30 out right there. Because you're gonna have issues with him later on. It wouldn't but about A week. After that, we had one These hurricanes come up through here, and some of the storm spin up off of that thing blew one of those huge pounds down, So you went ahead and had the other three taken out. Which increased the size of the yard. No. So here we are going from the forest to a yard. So then we say, Okay, we got this big swag in the yard. I make this a big one. We put 13 tracks loads. Of dirt. In that backyard to take that big swag out of it, and, uh, Popped all of their downspouts out. Um What else we do Lower we did a month. We built a big patio over there. So it's a 2021 ft wide circle. Ah, patio in the backyard. Ah! Put in irrigation system for the backyard started. The whole backyard is about 6000 Square foot of grass, and, um They're gonna wind up putting Ah, they're going to want to have in their driveway report. So we put in a catch basin in the corner where the driveway will be poured. So when they poured their new driveway, it'll come around that catch Basin and that that'll catch all the water. And take it out of the or so big project. We were there eight days. Um, but we got a lot done in eight days. A big as a huge project. It was certainly Chris. "The 93. W IBC Moesha. Could I ask you a question? Because your husband is Mr Levelheaded. He's very level and I mean he has political views, but he's not super hard core. He is a libertarian heart, right? So the fact that he feels this way gives me great joy or optimism. Why does he feel this way? Well, he is a lot of the conversation last night had to do with this mail in voting terror that everybody has. Including me. I mean, you know, it's scary. I know Trump's talked about it a lot. This fear of like this. This Idea of people's getting sent ballots, just willing Ili right. People have been dead for 50 years, people that haven't been at the address that it's been sent to in years. So there's fear about that. Trump's talked about a lot. It's legit fear, he said, and I haven't checked him on this. So I don't know if it's 100% accurate. But he said, the states that that is happening in our already blue and so the states that our swing or read, we don't have that concern because that's not happening in those States. So if he's right about that, then that is encouraging, But I'm not there. I mean, I still have a lot of apprehension about this election just because we're constantly inundated with how much stupid there is in the world, right? I mean, it's on Twitter. Every day. You're massively exposed to have dumb people are and how angry and and terrifying especially now when they're all like we're going to burn the country down. If the Supreme Court Yeah. Vote happens there, though. Tariff. I think that he Earing. We're going to burn the country down. We're gonna burn the country down. I've already burning the country down makes the silent majority that much more irritated. I hope more fired up and more like this guy on the with their inside voice. Do you understand me? Yeah, And he's convinced of that, too. I mean, I think that people are really sick and tired of seeing their country burning down. And they're tired of that. They're really a lot of e mails and you mentioned it down in your neck of the woods over the weekend that you've noticed a lot of Trump signed. A lot of we get e mails like that all the time from people who are in places where they would they would expect to see more Biden support and asked in the form of yard signs and whatever I'm saying, they're not. I'm seeing the flags that say Trump 2020 no more bull bleep. This's.

Couple a couple of quick point, Steve, these things should have never gotten this far. Okay. When, when elected officials take not only the cops when elected officials In hopes of office. They're number one is to protect the constitutional rights and safety of their citizens that they're protecting and are serving. Evers didn't that's in the situation. He was offered protection from the federal to come in and help out. You denied that so he broke it off right there. At the end of the day. We're gonna look back, Steve and look at the facts with the boycotting going on the sports and just makes my point here. We're kind of pro testing a myth you, Steve, if you look at the numbers and the facts of the situation We always argue and loot and riot over things that are not actually based their rhetorically based and argumentative Ili base, but they have no actual value affection. Satisfied And then all of a sudden everybody's lives is running. That's lost in this whole thing that we have no leadership at the state level. This could have been in front of you could have had help right away and none of this would have happened. Steve, I just want to hear your response. Thanks, buddy. Thanks, Tim. Thanks for listening as well to your point about the lack of response. Here's what's Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said. Yesterday, he said Evers did not reject any proposal from Kenosha. Law enforcement, instead has been working with David Beth. Now there's to mobilize more truths. He said. There was a miscommunication between canals account. This is David. Best thing. It's not the governor. Was a miscommunication between Kenosha County officials over who requested assistance from Evers, Our governor, and it turned out No. One hand. Again. This is what Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said. Since then, he said, he's been working with the National Guard's leader on getting more troops. A direct quote from David Beth was a Republican. Minnesota's boreal forest is a climate change hot spot
"As climate change unfolds we're learning that warming is uneven temperature records show distinct climate change hotspots, and northern Minnesota's among the fastest warming areas on the planet. Minnesota's iron range and Canadian border counties have worn more than two degrees, Celsius or three point six degrees Fahrenheit since eighteen ninety-five. That's twice as fast as the twin cities and the global average of about one degree Celsius. How is that changing Minnesota's Flores Lee? Froehlich directs the University of Minnesota Center for forced ecology. Highly Hi, fall good to be with you. How quickly do force react to that kind of temperature change there already reacting the seedlings of Red Maple and Northern Red Oak. And a few other species of trees are already spreading in places like the boundary waters that is enough of a temperature rise that those species which are from southern Minnesota in central Minnesota are moving into what we call the boreal zone, which is the very northern part of Minnesota. Where normally it would be so cold that you wouldn't have anything other than Birch and Aspen and conifers like spruce, and for let's say I'm traveling up in northern. MINNESOTA. What should people look for to see the forest changing? Well if you drive the highway. From Virginia to Ili. Say in mid September. You will see a lot more red there because red maple has expanded quite dramatically there does that mean it's a less favourable environment for the coniferous trees also, we don't think so not yet. That hasn't gotten warm enough to start reducing the growth or to kill the conifers but we do know that if it does warm up another degree Celsius, we might start seeing mortality and reduced growth those coniferous trees when I travel up north I the a lot of these dead birch stands across northern Minnesota. Is there a climate connection there? Yes. There is a climate connection. Now Paper Birch is very sensitive in this case to warming soil temperatures in summer. So just the fact that springs are a little earlier and falls are a little later means that the soil has more time to warm up during the summer and you combine that even with mild to moderate droughts like we had several of between two thousand and two, thousand and ten, and you get a Lotta root damage do these changing forests affect our lakes in Minnesota yes. with fewer conifers and more deciduous trees. The chemistry of the water that percolates through the soil and end of the lake will be different because. The full edge when it falls off, the trees is less acidic for things like Maple and oak that would be for spruce and for so the chemistry of the water will be different. Probably that will lead to more nutrients in the lake and US in a small enhancement of the amount of algae and so on that what grow in the lake in your work as you look ahead, what forest trends will you be watching for the next five to ten years and beyond? Well, we'll be watching the sea of. The maples and oaks continue into invade. The boreal forest will also be looking for wildlife species like deer and Bobcat, will they continue to move in and replace Moose and links? There are also somewhat climate dependent So a lot of interesting things to watch for

You're not allowed to endorse products when you are in a position to power because according to the ethics guidelines, and the ethics experts that we spoke to It would make it appear that your government position is for sale for any product to the highest bidder. And people have been fired for these types of things. In fact, Kellyanne Conway The advice to the president had something similar a few years ago during a TV interview, where she endorsed Ivanka Trump's line of clothing. She was admonished by the ethics director in the White House and in the government. That ethics director no longer works for the government. He just resigned, saying that he could no longer deal with us. Administration that they have so many conflicts of interest, and no one seems to be obeying the rules of laws. You just can't buy if your Goya Well, that's true, but I'm not sure that it's reaching the target audience because their surveys and folks in the Hispanic community who are not happy with the president. They buy these Goya products, and they were not particularly happy that the CEO of Goya product that they keep it business was endorsing a president who has not done Of atleast a lot for Hispanic immigrants in this country. But they were simulating they were stimulating stimulus stimulation. Yeah. In some case. Now, some case that's interesting. So when they ended testing Aaron sixty three I think it was to build something to that can actually simulate nuclear explosion. They did it more. Now after that they did do underground testing. I don't know what the cutoff how long they did underground testing. But this this computer, according to the text here was originally at the university of Illinois, which of course, had a big supercomputing center. That's where later Mark Hendrickson would go right mosaic, and and because of antiwar protests in one thousand nine hundred seventy they became concerned for it. Activists called for a day of ili action. I don't know if I would want sticker for that. But anyway, what happened at Trump circle? Uley action. And so they had to move this. And this actually was moved to Mountain View to NASA Ames where the computer history museum is. So this is the f- maybe you could say this is the first computer and the computer history museum. This is the one that inspired you to. Yeah. Inspiring and bowl. Yeah. Oh now here we go with Seymour Cray's. First creation. This is a supercomputer. You know later he put a sofa around it, which was a little strange. But if you look carefully you could see the wiring. I think that's actually the later one this came after the sofa. Yes, I think that's crate three three. I think this is nineteen ninety five so trust that don't trust me. Yeah. Await I I don't remember which one had the sofa.
