My deums been ringing in from thirty nine talk about where now I did. I will preference to preference this by saying I look at the cast photo but I didn't look at anybody's individual photo so I find that the individual photos really aww matters essentially because that is what you're projecting to the world high. "i. tribal council" Discussed on The Short Porch

"Giving I mean, how electric could a tribal council. Smoking spoken like a true true small-minded before. But I've watched survivor like I've seen cool network canyon. Again. I don't want to spoil. It was electric some great theater as in someone pull out a gun and shoot Jeff props like that would be pulled something out, and it was incredible. Like a deck. I know how that made. It seem not why this is thirty eight right now. And you're still shocked by things I mean, what is great television permit. What could possibly have happened in season thirty eight of survivor that drops your jaw like show. Many do not think the game can evolve can happen in the year twenty nineteen ninety or they've been around forever. That is so different. There's new players every year. Thanks. Okay. Great. So okay. That don't change a little a little it's the same shit. I bet you turn on a random up. I don't want to trash belts. I used. So to your three arguments are that different players different results. You basically the new Madden game every year. Oh, it's different as promise. It's real exports every year. It's unpredictable. You actually did exactly disrupt. The new Madden like me. Like if my dad were to ask me like. Oh, what's different from? This year's always asked me. Why are you by the new man? Can you just play the old one? And just as the new players is changed. The change the rules were they do hit stick does this that now, that's it. Like, that's what survivors I feel like now very different because you're on an emotional roller coaster for forget it. I can't even bother with an I can't argue with a brain peasant with a mind peasant. Go watch the change of again, great movie. It's lean to. It's the survivor of movies. I like the change of some enough that the two favorite actors. Jersey. Achey news, very bluff forgettable, two losses in Arizona. We're pretty much very acceptable with the six and three obviously could have been better we come into this. This two-game set six in one on the west coast trip finished six three two losses. Could have won didn't win offenses pretty sleepy. That's going to happen when you have replacement players out there. You know, the Mike talk wins of the world are coming back down to earth a little bit LeMay Hugh being out or shallow being out in game. One will make you apple days. Hopefully, getting him back on Friday. Lisa expected thing very expected. The see this kind of result. I'm not mad about the losses at all. In the National League is weird and all that shit with the double switches, whatever find no more west coast baseball for a little bit. You know, I got to go back to normal sleeping schedule. And you know, hopefully, we get a few guys back on Friday, which me nice, and then we can get rolling. I mean, this is kind of what we expected from the replacement Yankees. And there was a nice magical little run last week with the angels, San Francisco and royals for a few games to fundament- the end of the day. These guys are, you know, they're replacement level players for a reason they overmatched by means at cranky just pitched great on Tuesday night and dieback good team. Now, it is people start saying key seven beat a team all year with a winning record, blah, blah, blah, blah in our five. Yeah. Whatever I, you know, don't five isn't the biggest apple size and banged up or whatever I'm not concerned like six if you told us last Sunday night, we're gonna go six and three in the road trip was a heartbeat. We probably set it on the podcast that we signed up. That was like are are we reaching for six three and we'd be like? Okay. Five and four five and four. Yeah. I think we've probably had four and five when pe- the absolute end of the world, given all the injuries. So six three you'll take it. Get home got a couple tough tasked with twins. And mariners. The teams that are performing so far this year. But we do seem to always beat up on the twins. But we'll see I mean six three overall in better spot the star of the road trip better record and more guys coming back to be healthy. And like it does sound a little bit like oh, thanks for replacement players. But like SIA like we're moving on not the case at all at all. I was listening to Evan. "I mean like that that could have been my whole survivor game. And I've been able to walk away from that. And been like, yeah, I'm glad it didn't. But like that that was just it was so fun. You also at that tribal council. You got to talk to Jeff your first tribal council, and you had an an analogy, which stuck with me often isn't consideration without risk. That's how I see how. So a lot of times that the sense that you're sort of just transcendently in the moment, if something as terrifying council, he'll be like. Coast. I mean, if you in your cheapest martier your mind knew that ever workloads from safe which really be as excited, or is it because that you're convincing this moment, you're falling and you're going to die. It makes it very exciting. I mean in this kind of a dark thought that people get on roller coasters because they think there's a chance that you could die or at least at the very least that you feel like you're going to die. Yeah. Exactly. That's and. Yeah. And it's true of survivor, certainly, and then and you're talking about in the game sense. But I have to think that there's also a sense in that for at least for some people you are on survivor, and there's a chance that you could really die. Yeah. The there is that you try to push that out of your mind. But it is there. I mean this. I mean as much as we've had thirty seven seizes without something truly tragic happening. But you never you never know, it's it's such unregulated environment. You're out in the woods or people swinging machetes around there's danger there, and you and you do feel that especially when you're hitting hit with hurricanes. You know? Yeah. And so we trust production. We'll take care of us. But they're not they're not omniscient in. But yeah, the I one thing I will say for those those private counsel speeches. I was I was worried about them coming to air because I didn't want people like, oh this slows making analogies JR. Here's a little tip for anyone. Who's watching the show? It's says something at tribal council. You don't like it's possible that they just want to annoy you at home, maybe. But probably more likely you are not the audience that the we are talking to a travel council. We're talking to the other contestants. We're talking to number one. We're trying to please the other contestants. You know, try to make sure the plan stays on track. Number two were trying to talk to Jeff. So Jeff gets an answer. And he doesn't harangue us. And for more information and tertiary it's whether or not people at home say, oh, man, I like that analogy or not, but I'm seeing well received which I was pleased about and so strategically the doing those analogies that was my way of not answering questions fell it. It'd be sort of like, you know, string something together. It's like, oh, yeah. That's that's a coherent thought. Then like people were like a okay with because I have to think that like in the way that. The rest of the players reacted that, you know, we didn't really talk about your, you know, threat level at this point. But I have to feel like that people like, oh, wow. This guy is good. Also, you know, this this guy can talk, and I I wonder you know, how much is that a factor in point like are some of the seeds being put down here in these early days of the game, which are ultimately going to culminate in when we get to the merge listening. Okay. Well, Christians gotta go. You're the threat level thing. Is is very interesting. I saw I it definitely it run for ran through my mind that when I talked about the slide puzzle. For instance, you know, the raise my threat level, I'm aware of the concept of a threat level. I was always trying to be humble. But Moreover, I was like it's the first ten minutes of the game..

"Albert vote for at tribal council. Let me hear the choices. Okay. Multiple choice options. So this will will block Cowan from being able to seal a point we have a Brandon be coach see Rick de so fi. I'm going to go with the person. I was going to guess I'm gonna go with Rick. Rick is incorrect. So get decision choosing the options there. It was actually so Brian Brennan and Albert both voted for Sophie here Albert poll. You know, did the whole know that one Callan. No, I did not so. Yeah. Brandon Brandon wanted wanted Sophie out of the game. And then he Albert kind of did the whole thing where he once he got the immunity necklace. He sort of fake the fact that he didn't think that you know, that Brandon wasn't Trumbull going home. Which is why I think to this day Brandon is is not so happy with Albert. But yeah, they they both Oded for Sophie here. Even though he voted for Sophie, I think he probably knew that Brandon was going home once he gave up the idol. So rob, you don't get a point there. It is to to to going into the final round. And this this game. We're calling it a one both or neither I believe it is a game that we played on this week in survivor history before but it was a while ago. So I'm just going to go over the rules. Potentially a somewhat confusing game, which is part for the course here. So I am going to give a statement for each your. We're going to do the whole thing where you choose a random number and that decides the order, but I'm going to give a statement. And I'm just going to give an example of how this game is going to work just so I could so it's easier to understand. So this the statement would could be something like this sixteen people started on the season. And then I'll give you four options. They could be like only Borneo only the Australian outback both or neither. And since the statement sixteen people started on the season applies to both of those seasons. Borneo and the Australian outback the answer would be both. However, if I said ghost islands and Borneo then the answer would be only Borneo because the statement only applies to one..

"They didn't scramble before tribal council meant that there was more time for character work in maybe every premier we get. We get to lameta back instead of. I think we have counsel. I think that that's it was perfect. World. We live. But, but I really like I really felt like I learned a lot about the different people who are out there playing survivor. Didn't feel like I was, you know, seeing who this is the story of this person now. All right, Steven, that we have David versus Goliath theme this season off the top of your head as a noted fan of all books or most of them, at least Stephen. Is there any other literary references that you feel like survivor could go to next. Well, you know that I'm a big fan of survivor a hab burst. Yes, that was yeah, because that one is like people in life are either hunters or being hunted survivor survivor Moby Dick versus a hab captures that what happens when you try to hunt the one thing you've been getting, what happens when you get it? What happens if it kills you. Yeah, exactly. I think that's, I think you know that there's, there's there's so much there that they could. They could do. My favorite book of all time is dickens bleak house. So I think it would be great to do survivor chancery lawyers versus those. I mean, those who have suffered the women lawyers. All right. So put those all on the list for future survivor season..

"If analysts makes to the final tribal council, I think give her the check. I think he has this in the bag, but she is by far. Are the the smallest chance of getting there because I think the other two aware that as well. And so she needs to win that final immunity and they're working together in a way. I feel like they're not really working with her. I think it's dead plan. I'll be to take her out three on my do get this question sometimes which is like, do you feel like analyst wouldn't be a good win because she was voted out. This is something we saw against spoiler full Australians of season two. This is something that we saw with Tara last yet. She obviously went to the end and it wasn't very respected obviously that she had been voted out, but analysts is very, very different for me for a few different reasons. The first being that I really never felt like this was a real trouble council when she go voted out like it was so clear based on the fact that through tries with their clearly something was going on. We've seen this twist before an international survivor. So this personally, I don't know what the players were thinking, but I just never felt like it was a true vote out. And then also if it had been a true vote out, Martinez would have been voted out. Any reason they met him quit was because they went. Sending the voted out person out of the game. And you know it's a credit to Emily's social game that one of the things that fasted into him wanting to quit was analyst, good say. So if anything listing for her game that you could control Martinez and that he liked to that much. And also if you only go up voted out and was in a position to get votes because she got swap screwed in the first place. So that's not really an indication on hosts game. Oh, who game play it also I absolutely go into track from game because she technically was looted out of the game. So it's amazing that she even considering she off all votes in episode two when they went to the rock drill. But that's honestly nothing compared to this whole final three. Like he's gone through a challenge to get rid of hood three and then Stacey Lee quit. And then she also would have been voted out a new on new news on whatever we called it, but she would have been voted out there, but they never lost a challenge. So she's also was on borrowed time. Tom was a targeted episode one, dick, the Rockin episode, two way, obviously could have gone home, and then he was in the minority almost instantly at the size, and they actually. Throw a challenge to get rid of him and then they didn't. So this is all fine. Three. This is three borrowed time from all of them, and I love it so much. I mean, this is the final three were deserve. This is really the Murphy's law season of survivor where like all these three people were saved miraculously. I want to go back to the analysts, you know, getting voted out because, well, I think on the surface, you could compare to someone like Tara from Australia and survivor twenty 2017. If you look at their like post merge game, specifically, I feel like analysts. I don't know if you call a controller if you call it being in the know, but it feel like Annelies possessed that much much more than Tara. And so when you have you know, Tara lose pretty handily in that final, I think it's because she may be showed a lack of sight into what was going on in the game as opposed to some unlike analysts who I'm pretty sure except for the Catania, though, was on the right side of the vote nearly all the time or at least knew what was going on. Yeah. I mean to it is Tara. Go voted out at a tribal council that looked like any. Regular tribal council and she obviously put it out by try that she'd been with since day one and she buried her own game in that time. At least, yes, she got swapped to fool..

"Headed to a final tribal council you've spent you know all this time thinking about survivor you feel like you got to votes in the can maybe think you can flip to more going into this final tribal council what's going through your mind as you are approaching this final travel counsel yeah i think this fallout is really hard for me because i would say woke up on day thirty nine healing really proud of the game it played feeling like i made the right moves to get myself in position that i need to get myself in and feeling like i said like i've probably got two votes in i assumed i had donna and angie explicitly told me that she was voting for me as she was in her last day or two and i thought like i probably get one or two wove outs in like libya or john they weren't strongly aligned dominant wendell so i felt really proud of myself and i was like holy crap i've played survivor i made it three nine days i played a strong game i made the movement i need to make i made a lot of the decisions that determine the outcome of the game while and i like the game is ending like it was really emotional but i was really proud then getting to final tribal it was just such like a shock and it was still jarring to take the beating that i did at final tribal because i woke up that morning feeling so positive feeling so proud and it was so jarring to them like get to final tribal like feel like i'm up against a brick wall and realize quickly that the drift is not perceived the in the same way that i perceive myself and that nothing that i'm going to say is going to change anyone's mind it was really hard in it really it was really upset in the moment in certain i just kind of wanted it to be over because nothing was saying was mattering do you feel like that had it been the old final trouble council format that that would have been better for you maybe in the sense.
