"Com to join in the conversation and continue the conversation. If you like Facebook and Twitter as well, I dug up some more information on the judge retention votes that'll be on the ballot. I've had a lot of questions about how to find out Mohr about the judges, so you can make a better decision and for me and let unless there is a huge case, like the Obama care case. Where the vote was unanimous. Well, I don't really know how to because you can't really find individual cases and individual judgments when especially when it comes to Sprint Supreme Court, But anyway, Oklahoma Bar Association has put together a little guide. And they've got it posted and I've got it posted okay dot com and I just shared it on my Facebook page and on my Twitter page so you can click into that. It's whatever you and I will tell you. I don't think a judge has ever lost his job in a retention vote, but We are one of the few states that allows you a say in who is in our state Supreme Court in Court of Appeals. So check that out okay dot com share it with your friends, and it's easy to click right that you would see that guide and I want to thank the folks over at the Oklahoma Bar Association. They've been very helpful putting that whole thing together and allowing me to share that with you. "Now, let's hash out today's events. This is the drive with Leigh Matthews talking a lot today about the debate last night. The vice presidential debates who won who lost and who went home with method I tell you this I was impressed with Pence. I don't know that I've watched Pence do anything long form and he was calm. He was controlled. He was polite, and he did not let his emotions run away with him. He also stuck to the facts. Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, I think went with Maurin him of an emotional approach. And I don't think it took her very long at all to start playing the victim card, which is something she's very, very good at. That's why you saw someone. Mr Vice President, I am talking She was trying to victimize herself. She was trying to look like he was beating up on her, and I don't think it worked. S o. I think Mike Pence won the debate. He had more facts. He had more figures He had more logic. He was criticized for going over time, but I also think he's very skilled at keeping time. And he knew that Kamala Harris had given given a certain amount of time and he was going to take the same amount of time. In fact, we found out later that Kamala Harris actually had another four minutes extra for extra extra minutes. I also think that's because the moderator Didn't wantto didn't want it to look like come on. Harris is being beating, beaten up. I mean, old white man. Kamala Harris, I think was the loser. I think she tried to hard to look like the victim. She tried too hard to hide her true intentions and her true intentions or that of the Democrat Party, and that is we can't make it look like we're going to raise taxes. And I don't know if that has anything to do with the state of our economy right now, because everybody's worried about their finances. Everybody's worried about the future. And here is the Democrat platform. That's not offering any solutions other than Oh, we'll get what we need A green new deal. We need health care. They tried to take your healthcare away. They're trying to take you Take, you know again. There was none of it was positive, and none of it was a reason to vote for. It was all over a reason to vote against, so their strategy all along has been vote against Trump. But the problem is in the mindset of people right now. And you know it because you've been through it. It's not just the virus were scared of. It's the effects of the virus on our daily lives. It's the effects of the virus on our economy, and it's the effects of the virus on our livelihood. And they're offering no solutions. They keep blaming Trump for the economy. Well, Trump is the one that wanted to open the economy. That's quite obvious. Insinuating that they want to continue to shut down the economy that makes people feel living worse. The green New deal Right now, People are worried about their paychecks. They're not worried about where the gas is coming from. They want the gas and they wanted inexpensively. Health care. People right now. I want to make sure they don't get the virus. So they don't have to use healthcare. And every time they open their mouth about Ah Trump tax incentive. Here is tax incentive there. Nobody cares. They want tax incentives. They don't want to have to pay more taxes. They tried to attack the trump on his $750. Trump doesn't want to pay taxes anymore. And you and I do. It's as though there's something noble about paying millions of dollars in taxes. I know there's nothing noble about it at all. We shouldn't have to be taxed that much money. Which again brings out the true Democrat of platform, and that is tax more and then spend more tax mohr and spend more. We're not taxing enough. We're not spending enough. That to me was what Kamala Harris is message would so That's why I think she lost. The loser. The moderator. Now she did do a pretty good job of maintaining the rules. And maintaining the timing. I I think she did a much better job than Chris Wallace. She did an absolutely positively crappy job. Setting up and asking the questions. Lucien You could tell. She's a newspaper person and not a broadcaster. It was a CZ, though she had the question just little notations written down. I had a question earlier about, Ah, Kamala Harris, refusing to answer certain questions. Let's go. She can't because the answer to the question is were higher taxes and right now of people feeling the way they are. The Democrats know they're stuck. They can't get out there and make you feel better about paying higher taxes. They can't make you They can't blame Trump for what's going on right now. They're trying to, but they can't. It's not sticking. So, but the moderator, I think, is the one that was going home empty handed because she couldn't set up the questions coherently. And did you notice? Speaking of unanswered questions? She asked a question off Pence She did not ask. Kamala Harris. That was have you had conversations about what would happen in the event of an emergency? Pence did get some criticism for either not answering the question or backtracking. I applaud Pence for that. If you have been asked a question in a debate, there's no there's no. There's no rule that says you have to answer, especially if the previous conversation some points were made that you didn't get the answer to. And that was one of Kamala Harris of Strategies as well. She didn't think he was going to backtrack, but he did, And every time he did, he had a fact that was refuting what she had just said. I think the most valuable of which was now I can't believe you're bringing up that hearsay conversation about what the president said when he never sent it. So I'm not going to say that Pence mopped the floor with her. But I think it definitely won the debate You're Anna thought Say for 1000. Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, a train comfort.

"Brought to by Agent eight shooting sports. We talk about how A lot of times if a perpetrator is shot in the back, there's this automatic assumption that he was Innocent. That he was running away. Or that in some way, something unfair is being done. We disprove that on firearms Friday today and we'll show you how and why, if you are defending yourself. You must keep that in mind. You must Watch your back. It's brought to by H and H and the again the videos that Katie okay dot com and my Facebook page several propositions on your ballot, especially if you're voting in Oklahoma City. I went through all nine of them. I hope it wasn't too much of a root canal for you because a lot of them are like, why are we voting on this? And then the other part of it is well, Yeah, We do need to vote on that. So now it's on Ly in Oklahoma City. In other parts of the county and other parts of the Metro, You're going to have different things on there, depending on where you live. If you live in the fifth Congressional district, you'll vote on that, along with president and vice president You might have county proposals. You may have city proposals in your own city where you live. And we can't forget that. They're almost there will also be retention votes, which I've gone through those as well. And I will post what I have found on my Web page where you can go have a look at it and added to all the other information that you have, because information is key and education is key. When you're voting this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, a train comfort specialist. It's hard to top of Hill. Andi. I see that the state has received A grant. To build a veterans. Cemetery. Veterans and Oklahoma will soon be able to be laid to rest in a state Veterans cemetery after a recent announcement by the US Department of Veterans Affairs The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration awarded $7,355,000 to the state of Oklahoma to establish a state veterans cemetery. Officials say this the cemetery will be located in Ardmore. Grant will fund the construction of 1100 for pre placed Crips. 434 cremains grave sites. That's for you know, cremated remains. 600 COLUMN. Barium niches. That's the more you're A niche in the wall where you put your ashes. Main entrance and administrative building, a maintenance facility, a road landscaping and a memorial walkway on 12 acres of land. Officials say the cemetery will provide service for approximately 25,571 veterans and their eligible family members. I didn't know we didn't have some sort of veterans. Well, maybe we do. It's just different different parts of different cemeteries. But So that is a good thing. I think a for a 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com You wanna jump in and comment on that? And maybe you need to correct me about the where the other veterans facilities are in cemeteries where they are. We got the debate coming up on Tuesday, and I know Rush Limbaugh was still speculating today. Hey, didn't think Biden was going to show up. There was also speculation about four or five weeks ago that Biden at the convention was going to declare he's not fit to serve as president and that another president Would have to be. Chosen. I don't remember if Rush was on board with that theory, either. But I wasn't and I'm not on board with this theory that Biden's not going to show up. Democrats may know they've got a red herring Democratsmain knows they've got a cold fish. Democratsmain. No, they don't have a very strong candidate. But right now, and this is the dirty secret. Nobody will tell you Democrats are fighting for their own. Survival. Because they've been so infiltrated by further and further left. Congress, people and senators. And they've been so further infiltrated by further left senators and congressmen because they've been trying to court the ultra left. Thinking that is a way to overcome the center right nature of the United States general public You see, and I've had this conversation with you a bunch of times. You're running for office. There are those who will support you. There are those who won't support you. And then in the middle is a dangerous group of people. The undecideds. They don't pay attention. You don't know how they're going to vote and you don't know why they're going to vote the way they do their the undecideds. Most of them. Our centre right and political thinking. And convincing them to vote for you has always been where the where the emphasis has been. That is where all the focal point has been for. Don't matter who you are. Republican or Democrat. Get the undecided to come your way. I'll give you an example. Barack Obama did it very successfully in two elections. I think the first time because he was the new fresh candidate nobody had ever heard off. Yeah, He had some leftist ideals. But he's a black guy, and he's new and he's fresh. And, Yeah, I don't want to be on hip, so people who didn't even pay attention. We're voting for him simply because he was a black guy. Second time around. He did a good job of remember making people remember that he was the new fresh guy. And he gave them something to vote for hope and change. That was a pretty easy choice when you're going up against a cold, angry white guy Mitt Romney. Here came Donald Trump..

"Into it with Mike Morgan's forecast from the full warrant Storm team coming up on news radio 1000 Katie, Okay, Road, King Rogers, standing by with the latest traffic information and any alternate routes you might need to take. You still have some heavy construction at 40 and 44 Broadway extension, and he'll have more on that coming up. Will a Norman City Council member retaliate against those? Who signed a recall petition. There's there's grumbling that that might happen when we learned earlier today that the recall petition for the mayor of Norman did not have enough certified signatures to go forward. But one City Council member Is already being recalled, and actually is quitting before it can all happen. We'll get into that coming up on his radio 1000, Katie. Okay, So just what is a climate arsonist? That's a Joe Biden accuse the president of being yesterday and I'm still scratching my head. Remember that old movie from the fifties where the atmosphere con fire. It was the name of that movie. I had to look it up real quick, and I don't have time to do that and talk to you. But is that what a climate How could you set fire on purpose to the climate? Really? And he's already lawyering up to contest the election, and we haven't even had it. We'll get into that with Michael Bauer joining us in a little later in the show. Also, Hurricane Sally may be the least of the Gulf Coast problems because there are several more storms that are stacked up. Right behind it. All in a landing pattern as it were. We'll get the latest on that from Bill Simper of 24 7 news as well. And Maura and more are voting absentee. Why is that? I've got the answer. "Not only about the situation in Los Angeles with the two police, which I believe it was either some sort of set up by a group that was Because I think the person doing the shooting, I think is actually a juvenile. It looks like a juvenile to me. So this was either a to me either a gang initiation or somebody knowing that okay, If the kid gets caught, he'll just be tries as juvenile. I also right away realized that The weapon, I think was a small caliber because I don't know that those I don't know that those officers would have walked away like they did if it had been a higher caliber plus That circles back to the possibility of it being a young person who probably couldn't handle or had not ever handled a large calibre in the first place. And then again, this is Los Angeles. Where guns are illegal, right? I mean, What's a law abiding person doing? With a gun, let alone someone who probably is too young to own the gun in the first place, right? You know where I'm going with this eight for a 1000 Lei Matthews? Katie. Okay. Dotcom Ken Wright's Ali You made my day when you said that the fifth Congressional District polling has gone from a toss up. To leaning Republican. I tell everybody I can't vote for Stephanie Vice. I think it's going to be a good turnout, and I think we're going to unseat Kendra Horn. And here's why. I think that When Kendra Horn was elected, nobody was paying attention, and nobody was paying attention because it was a mid term election, and most people don't pay attention to midterm elections. There was not a lot of significant stuff on that ballot other than fifth Congressional District. There's a couple of questions and there's a couple of this and that, But a lot of people don't go to the polls unless it's the big, important presidential election And because this is the big, important presidential election, I think we would have a greater turnout now, not just in person. But in absentia as well. And just because Kendra Horn is out their ballot harvesting. Doesn't mean that it's not going the other way as well because Republicans have picked up on this a CZ well, and they're catching on to it, including the bys campaign. So I think more people than ever, and that was the whole problem with the midterm election that got Kendra Horn in office in the first place. It was because not enough Republicans showed up on election Day. Steve Russell lost that election before Election Day. Because Mohr ballots had been turned in for Kendra Horn. Before Election Day. And not enough Republicans showed up to vote on election day, So she walked away with it. He never recovered. I'm not blaming him. I blame the RNC to a certain extent, because back in 20 what was a 2018 back in 2018? The RNC was clueless. The RNC. The RNC was still feeling snakebit because because Trump was president. They couldn't believe it. And now with the RNC needs to do is flush out the anti Trumpers because the Republican Party has got to grow, and it's got to grow in a direction that is more reflective of the United States and not just The eggheads in Washington, D. C. Your thoughts. Eight for a 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com high you are on the air. Hi. What's your name? J. D. Go ahead. You think there's any representation of the sign ups that are being done down the basketball gymnasium? Thunder He's like there. Day in and our booth or is that all you know, it's all just it's all just okay if you haven't registered to vote Here's where you can register to vote. And if you would like it, and if you would like a on absentee ballot. Here's where you get one. When I would think it's all party should be down there actively participating in that well and that's that's the thing the only people who really going to participate or people who are not registered to vote. And then the people who are registered to vote. Well, yeah, I think I'll sign up for an absentee ballot. But, you know, we still don't have a way of knowing if that's really the only strategy the Democrats have in Oklahoma. Really J t. That's all they have. All they could do is get more people out there to vote because there are so few Democrats in Oklahoma these days. They're just they're feeling like, why bother they are. Yes, I was going to say to the picture of the California think they're saying that picks elation on that camera's way off. One that I've seen is pretty looks like Mario running, you know, on the video game, so I think it's kind of distorted. A lot of things. Well, I took that into consideration J. T. But But here I am looking at this. And the kid, The guy doesn't look any taller than the vehicle itself. And what is a squad car? Maybe. I mean, maybe I don't think they're 5 ft. Tall with the roof and everything. So and and if you notice the shooter had to reach up to shoot into the window. Had to reach up now. That's not a pixel ation or a point of view distortion that that to me is this. I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it in scale of some of the video of the moment, Officer help with your partner. When people are against videotaping it. Man. Bad thing about Kopel. Of course, they're throwing insults at him. It's a bad part of town. And, you know, I just don't get it. I just don't get it. "By the way, thanks for asking for my friendship and welcome to the friendship of Leigh Matthews on Facebook on NewsRadio 1000 Katie Okay, he writes. Could it also be that the shooting in L. A B that of adults getting juveniles to commit acts of violence, knowing that the juveniles will often He charged his miners. Yes, entirely possible Jamie, but that is also part of the M O of gangs. Because then when the kids get back out when they go to their time, and then they get back out, Boom, they're in the gang, right? Not entirely possible entirely possible. Thanks for the Facebook on those radio 1000 Katie. Okay. Hi. You are on the air. Believe me if I can't go ahead, wanted Want to talk about that. L a shooting? Yes. You're one of them. You can probably realized that it was a Saturday night special. My understanding is the both recovering. 22 probably only think that would have allowed that. I was wondering about that myself because the female officer was hit in the jaw, and I don't know where the male officer was hit. But I understood. The female officer was never really in critical condition. Just stable condition and I saw a picture of her trying to actually administer first aid to her partner. And you can see where the wound is in her jaw, so she may have a broken jaw. But that may be it, you know on so the thought. Can the thought crossed my mind, too, huh? I wonder if it was a light caliber. And for marksmanship probably saved their lives. Yes, absolutely. Now I don't know. Did you see the video? Yes. So you concur with me that whoever was holding that gun didn't look like they were experienced and holding or using a gun. No, they were either young or a midget. Yeah, it was a small person with small legs and to me the way they ran away. They ran like a like a like a young person runs. They didn't run like an adult. Yeah, Living close to Detroit. There was there were big. Crashes that intersections in downtown Detroit every weekend. It was an initiation rite. Somebody had to go down Jefferson at 60 Miles an hour and not stop for any stoplight. Wow. Okay. And there how many stoplights along there? Oh, tons. And so that was a gang initiation. Yeah. Yeah, I would not doubt that. That's the same thing. Here. Imagine so, Ken, Thanks for your input on NewsRadio. 1000. Katie. Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one that saw what I saw there a day for 1000. Lei Matthews, Katie okay dot com this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, a train comfort specialist hard to top of Hill. And Buddy, writes Lee. I would like to define for you liberal privilege. One believing you have the right to control other people's lives. To believing you have the right to never hear other opinions. Three, believing that when you're offended, others have to care. And for believing that there are two sets of rules, one for you and one for everyone else. Yep, buddy, that is the definition of liberal frivolous on. That's what we're seeing. Definitely throughout the United States on these radio 1000, Katie. Okay, Plus, you know you I would add. It's okay to take money from an organization to go create havoc. It's okay to allow yourself to be manipulated. Into thinking that you're doing something good when all you're doing is Taking people's livelihoods away from them. Cause that's all these riots are doing. They're wrapping themselves in the First Amendment and trying to do to market themselves an image. But we're just so it's just a protest is a peaceful protest. We have a first Amendment right? And 10. Men 10 seconds under the protests are starting to smash windows and grab stuff. And they think it's fun and they think it's school and some of them are actually getting paid to do it. But the ultimate goal is to create as much havoc as possible. And then doubt going into the presidential election, and my prediction is that Trump will win. And that after he wins, it's going to get worse. Because then it's going to be see what you did. And they're going to try to keep it going for four more years. I truly believe that so we'll have to be on the lookout. These radio and the police will have to do their jobs and arrest these people and throw him in jail. That is the key. That is how we're going to stop this. Continually arresting these people than putting him in jail. These radio 1000 Katie, Okay, the latest on Corona virus in Oklahoma. "Is the drive with Leigh Matthews runoff election to day If you are registered Democrat you didn't have a lot to do today, But Republicans had a lot to look at well. My ballot had two items. I had fifth Congressional District Republican runoff. And I had sheriff Republican run off and I was number two in my polling place. But that's because I coincided my vote with my morning walk and my polling place is less than a mile away, so I just walked on over. Did my vote and walked on back. And got my little exercise. And I am Lee Matthews A for a 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com If you haven't already voted absentee or early You have until seven o'clock when the polls will close. I anticipate they will have the final vote in by 7 30 Because usually on a run off like this. There aren't that many balance there aren't that many participants because people have already felt like I already voted, Didn't I? Didn't I vote already in the primary? This is the runoff to decide who will go up against Kendra Horn and I had a lot of questions about what should be done from people who are still undecided. So we'll get into that coming up on the radio 1000 Katie Okay, eight for a 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com to join in the conversation and I'd love to see or hear what you saw at your polling place. I was trying to encourage as many people to get out and vote as possible. But I also think Maura and Mohr and more people are voting either absentee or early because of the convenience of being able to go when you can go. And again I was number two, but that was I mean, the poles had just opened. I was there right at seven o'clock, right as they opened. And the only reason I was number two instead of number one There was an older lady. I let go ahead of me. So I felt like my grandparent's. My grand parents used to do that they used to get up early on Election day they would get dressed in their Sunday best. And they would drive down to the polling place and wait for it to open so they could be voters number one and two and their precinct as though getting in their early meant their vote was going to count more. That's what I felt like A for a 1000 Lei Matthews, Katie okay dot com this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, a train comfort specialist. It's hard to top a hill. "Don't seem to be any more. And I'm wondering if this is the death knell of conventions. After this year, when the Ah Parties will realize, you know, why are we doing this? While we're spending all this money? It's not getting us any Web hits. It's not getting us any any extra publicity. It's not doing us any favors. Why are we doing this? Years on state For 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com talked a little too about Corona virus and an interesting call from a woman who is hearing impaired. Complaining that because she's hearing impaired, she has to be able to read lips to be able to understand people and so she has to ask people to move their mask or remove the mask while they're talking to her so she can hear and understand what's going on. And she gets a lot of mask shaming for that. And that that's not there. And it also brought up the fact that I don't know about you, but I'm sometimes having problem in under four minutes to have a nurse blown alcoholic who too soon. Wait for a 1000 Leigh Matthews. Katie okay dot com If you want to join in the conversation this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, A trained comfort specialist. It's hard to top a hill kit is N Del City. Thank you for hanging on NewsRadio. 1000 Katie, Okay? Highly sometimes just a little common courtesy and compact. Always Problem. When I go to my grocery store, they do not have a manually operated. Will Charles they have is the Elektronik once I'm vision impaired, so I cannot use them because I'd be crashing and everything. And when I asked my grocery store person sector If they were gonna have any of the regular wheelchairs, he said No. So of course I don't And then there was another store a little fun. Well. Sometimes I go over there and so you can't very well use it. Claiming and day and as you go on making all kinds of noise But I think a lot of times when we hear the word handicap we think of only somebody that can't walk or whatever, and I think we need to broaden our horizons. What handicap means I could I agree with you? Certainly. Certainly. Now I don't know if the Americans with Disabilities Act requires stores to have a certain kind of wheelchair. I know that most of them like the electric ones, because most people can use the electric ones, But I understand your plight. Certainly news radio 1000 Katie. Okay, Hi. You're on the air. They? You know when they get all that money there, saving from not having had the convention all their stuff in their pockets. So it is a real win for me. I'm thinking so, Yeah, gracious, Quick thing if you look a little Internet Ooh, on China's with their big, uh, swimming pool by your thousands of people out there floating around, without course, any mass going of course pool anyway, but Be interesting to see if a couple weeks flew on bust out again. It's not They got a cure already, so they don't care. The flu, bro, You know, I don't think they care. China is not the best on human rights. The leaders of China when something like this breaks out there, just okay. Well, ah, we need to get ready to bury lots of people because lots people going to die, and then they don't They don't They can't feed the people as it isthe. So Which I'm convinced. That's why they tolerate North Korea as much as they do because they don't want North Korea, flooding them with more people. So they can keep North Korea happy. And keep the refugees from flooding over the border from North Korea to China. They won't have any as many mouths to feed. 84 1000 lei Matthews, Katie okay dot com I saw this and was interested in especially since I know and have many who listened to me truck drivers. And listen to talk radio. Um, California I've heard California was mandating all kinds of things in the trucking industry to where it's getting to the point. If you are a trucker You just about have to pull up to the border of California and drop your trailer and somebody else will come and pick it up because they have so many stringent rules When it comes to diesel, and how much emission you're letting out how you know it's just getting to the point where it's not. Feasible for our major trucking companies to do business in California. Well, now they're mandating a statewide shift to all electric medium and heavy duty trucks. Starting in 2024. Their goal is reaching 100% of all new sales wherever feasible. By 2045. But there's a problem. Even though a battery electric long distance heavy duty truck is technically feasible. It's not practical. A battery capacity needed for such a drug. For such a regus. Very large. The capacity of the truck to carry goods is going to be reduced. The cost is going to be high. And the charging time will be too long. It would also require significant up front costs from fleet operators to install the required charging infrastructure. Energy consumption per unit of load carried will increase because of the reduced payload capacity. It's also not zero. So too. It would have very serious environmental impacts on human health and water requirement and toxicity associated with mining the area minerals for such a battery. Though these impacts are exported from where the truck is used. They're called Bev's battery Electric vehicles. They're not zero emissions by the way. Mining for the necessary medals and the manufacturing of recycling batteries is estimated to contribute to 75 to 120 kilograms of Co. Two. Assuming the battery manufacturer is fossil free. It could be a size 200 kilograms of Co two. If the energy used is not sufficiently de carbonized, and that's, according to a report..

"US from 24 7 news and Michael. I see that Washington today was talking about enhanced unemployment insurance. Yeah, talking, but not a lot of doing when it comes to Washington, D C on DH. What we're looking at is apparently a Senate adjourning for the weekend yesterday without reaching an agreement. On a new aide bill, which means roughly 30 million Americans will see their incomes plunged dramatically here today. That's likely to happen unless there's some knight on the horse that we don't know about that. That may be making its way into that. Well right now, it just looks like it's kind of done for the weekend and That is worsening and the concerns I will get even more worse than this. Worsening the conditions for the Corona virus induced recession that we saw yesterday. The report for the steepest drop an economic output on record for this country, and what this does is Well technically take most out of work. Americans would say they were receiving $930 a week and unemployment down to $330 a week and perhaps even less as we're going to have to see how things play out with statewide unemployment issues and benefits that are set to expire here today. So that's all happening. While jobless claims are rising again, business closures are becoming permanent and tens of millions of Americans so they didn't have enough to eat in the past week Now there were attempts. And I mean that, like they actually had meetings and sort of last ditch efforts to try to get things done yesterday. We do know that there was one attempt to buy more Sally on the Senate floor to try to get A yield for a week of $600 jobless benefits that failed on the Senate floor. We know that call it limbo legislation where Mitt Romney, Susan Collins and Martha McSally We're all trying to introduce an alternative unemployment benefits legislation that would have done one of two things would've allowed states to either reduce unemployment benefits to 80% of wage replacement or Gradually reduced the extra benefits from $600 a week to $500 per week in August 400 September 300 October. You can see how that goes, and that was shot down two. And what seemingly was the last ditch effort was a two hour meeting that we're hearing from politico today. That featured Mark Meadows and Steve Mnuchin for the White House, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for the Democrats to ours, where the White House chief of staff made an offer to extend those unemployment benefits at $600 per week. For four months and that that was a stand alone. Bill didn't have to be tied to the stimulus whatsoever, and that was a brand new offer from the White House. Pelosi and Schumer turned it down on the heels of the report that we got about how bad the economy wass and what it was looking like for 1/4. They wanted to see this extended not just through the end of the year, but into the first quarter 2021. So you're looking at a difference of Four months it was being offered to seven or eight months, depending on how you look at it into the first quarter of 2021 they couldn't come to a deal. So That's where we stand right now not having any clue as to what's going to happen today, and certainly a lot more questions about what? Well how people will get money and make payments due. But also there's no extension so far of any sort of eviction moratorium as well. And that was another. One of the big questions. Is everybody head into the weekend? So that was one of the big That was my next question is what is the biggest hang up and it was the moratorium on evictions, Or was it how long to extend the benefits? I think the biggest one was how long it was. Since we'd seen Republicans come back with a $600 amount and then not just with a $600 amount, but then say we'd also do it for four months. So that seemed to be the sticking point where you saw Democrats want to go into the first quarter, 2021 with it and Sort of following in line with what economists said economist has indicated that you know, for all the complaining about this $600 a month. We need to keep doing that. Because otherwise there won't be an economy to come back to. There won't be that position You've got Five million jobs available right now in 30 million people out of work. If you filled every one of them. You still have a great deal of turnout of people not working, so we need to, according to some economists not just paid during this time frame where we can't go back to work. But also as people are going backto work to make sure there's money in hands to stimulate the economy, so That's where they're coming from, And they just couldn't come to an agreement on terms, at least based upon yesterday's attempt. Michael Bauer on NewsRadio 1000 Katie. Okay, and what is this? I'm hearing about the president floating an idea of postponing the election. Yeah, that was one of the things he tweeted. It was really honestly about a concern that he has for Universal mail in voting that he says is different from absentee voting, although technically they're both kind of the same, but what he was saying with the 2020 if we were to use that because of the covert 19 and the pandemic than this would be the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history because he's concerned about Susceptibility to that kind of fraud mail in ballots, he said that maybe we should proper We should delay the election until people can properly securely and safely vote. That was kind of a question. He floated out there was really seemed to be because he doesn't have On the Constitution level, the ability to delay or cancel an election. That's what I thought. Congress. Yeah, now is the right to make that decision. If there needs to be that this seems to be more along the lines of his concerns over that and putting fears out there which I think is interesting, too, because The reality is, if we, on some level decided as a country through covert 19 that we needed to have some sort of a mail in balloting and we were to go through with that, and President Trump were to win. You could be legitimately saying that that's still a part of the corrupt balloting that he put out in the messaging. So It was an interesting movie, which led one of his big supporters to indicate that just by questioning that alone that that element of things with sort of treasonous and that that should being President Trump up on charges of impeachment fromthe house and then removed from office by the Senate. Oh, here we go. Overreach. Yeah, I think so. Have a good weekend. Michael Brower. You two enjoy. And this half hour of of the drive is brought to you by Hyland Company, A train comfort specialist. "Eight for a 1000 Lee Mathews County, okay dot com. Talked about William bars testimony earlier today. He didn't exactly spank members of the House Judiciary Committee. But he did, I think, give very reasonable and sound. Responses to their questions. They didn't ask him. Ah thing about Russia Gate. They didn't ask him a thing about collusion, and when they did try to ask him questions. They interrupted him because they knew everything he said was going to go into record and they didn't want His answers. So all those months and months and months and months of we need William Barr Weenie, William Bar We need William Bar. And then now that this is all the sham that we know what it is. Wait. He trusts a sibling, telling him the electric fence is off Mohr than he trusts the media and boy did that hit home with me. My sister used to do that to me all the offensive non. He So that had a lot of people calling in about their electric fence experience. Laurie is one of them. We've got a hot fence for the hay burners. She means the horses by the way. I have a metal rod. "News and is joining us now. Good morning, bill. We talked about this on the afternoon show the other day on the drive about this new encouraging information about a Corona virus vaccine. Yeah, Lee and the reason that everybody really was looking forward to seeing this data Wass. This is the Oxford University AstraZeneca Vaccine project that from the very beginning has drawn a lot of optimism. Even from the early laboratory trials, they said that there was a good chance that this vaccine could be effective. So they've been optimistic about this the whole time. So everybody wanted to see this data which did not really disappoint. You know, it showed that the this vaccine is safe. And it did provide the effect they were looking for generating T cells, also generating an antibody response, But it's still early, because well, we may be seeing a light at the end of this vaccine Tunnel. Lee, This is a very long Tunnel that we're talking about. Now. The phase three has already begun on this vaccine trial, and this will include many more people on different continents, including the US, UK, Brazil, South Africa s O. This will tell the story. Whether we actually do have a lasting immune response triggered by this vaccine, and you can't hurry that you can't buy time. This is something that is just going to take time to make a final determination. So for that reason, you know, even the most optimistic and now saying that this could be early 2021 in the first quarter of 2021 before we do see a vaccine. Now this is from Oxford. And I know they're enthusiastic about the 1,001,000 trials, and now they're already in manufacturer. Mean that they don't I guess and great Britain, they don't have to. Like our FDA would require further trials. Does that mean when it gets over here? We have to run it through the FDA approval. We'll know that will be that process should be done by the time we get through phase three trials. OK, then. Then you go to FDA approval. Now, Any vaccine can go into production. Lee, it just can't be distributed throughout the needed requirement. So that's why they're trying to get a head start on production here with the feeling that when it is approved and again, that's being optimistic that they will be able to hit the ground running with distribution of this vaccine, and I think it's also notable that this particular product project, the Oxford University Project. The United States has dumped a $1,000,000,000 into this project under operation Warp speed, So we're really behind this as well, So it's going to get the fast track when it does get in front of the FDA. And we believe that this is kind of a guarantee that when the vaccine does come out, the United States may be first in line to get doses for people in this country. Well, I've said on this program a number of times that they need a volunteer for the vaccine. I'm a big believer in vaccines and I'd signed up for it. I don't I'm not scared of it, Um, the side effects, So just let me just tell you this Lee, I've already signed you up okay for a new vaccine trial, but get this one. North Korea now says they have a vaccine underway even though they have no cases in there, according to them, So, yeah, I've signed you up for that. Thank you. Thank you. It's probably a vaccine called cyanide. This's how North Korea gets rid of the pandemic. But side effects have any bad side effects of this vaccine been reported. Just minor things like fatigue, headaches, minor flu like symptoms in some of the people, Nothing major. So this is this is always big, because that's the first thing you want to determine whether a vaccine is safe and does not have any really serious side effects. So minor side effects have been reported. And one other thing to Italy is that Ah, that there was a more Ah, stronger response. I should say from this vaccine when there were two shots given now, they only did that with 10 people. So again. This is a very small amount. And I imagine in this next phase three trial, they'll have many more people who will have that second booster shot. Okay, so and do we know how long I mean? Is it a couple of weeks to go back for the booster or a couple of months? I think they did it after a month, okay? 30 days, and this is going to be key because You have to determine whether a vaccine needs a booster on some point is there's only gonna be a yearly vaccine. Now you have to get every year or let have a lasting effect for years and and maybe forever. Well and and, Ah, this is not uncharacteristic of new vaccines. Having to have a booster. I'm going back. I want to say to the polio shot. You had to go and I wanted to say you had to go in for three or maybe two. Yeah. You know, I can remember back. Remember, you've got the polio vaccine in a sugar cube. And yeah, and that was multiple times. I think I but, yeah, Boosters air not on unusual. This is something that has been done with vaccines before. Sure. Yeah, well, especially with the re occurrence because some people have had Corona virus. Recovered and then it rip it relapsed. Yeah. Yeah, So you know again, we're learning things knew about this virus every day. And while we're optimistic about this vaccine and other vaccines to which you are now in phase three trials, there's Madonna's vaccine is going to phase three next week when those trials will begin. There's a couple of vaccines in China that Aaron Human trials and getting far along as well. Ah, you know, we always have to remember that things could change in a hurry. And that's why I think it support to remember that the percentage of vaccines that are successful going from beginning to end He's about 17% so we can't count on every one of these being successful. Still, still, the majority of them probably will. And again, I will be about sign up, but they need a trial news Radio 1000 Katie Okay, Leigh Matthews and Oklahoma's first news this half hour brought to you by Hyland Company, a train comfort specialist. I think people are getting tired of talking about the Corona virus, so I stopped doing it. Now that things are heating up again. And people seem to be getting scared and insecure again. I brought it back, and so each day I will bring it up. We went over it again today and over the weekend. I did Friday's numbers, but basically what I did is I went over the numbers that are being reported. The amount of tests that have been done amount of tests that have been done that are negative. The amount of cases reported, But then I subtract the deaths. And the recoveries. Because those can no longer be considered cases. If they no longer have the virus. And so instead of the 25,000 total cases that have been reported in Oklahoma, it's actually only 5000 people. 5.5 1000 people. That are currently dealing with it. That's not bad. And the other encouraging number is Ventilator Usage zero Now a month ago. Sometimes you'd see 20. Sometimes you'd see 10. Now it's zero and it's been zero for a week. Why Doctors, nurses, medical professionals have figured out How to keep people off the ventilators with anti virals and certain other best practices that keep people from getting the pneumonia that gets so bad. You have to put on a ventilator and if you're on a ventilator You are going to have a significantly more challenging time recovering. Not to mention the damage to your lungs and the damage to your heart. So I just I'm trying to make the point. That statistics not only can be manipulated to say a lot of different things, but they can also be presented to say a lot and you gotta look deeper. And again I get my data. From cov tracking dot com. I think that is sponsored by the Mayo Clinic. They take CDC numbers from each and every state and they break them down. Just like I told you. Total tests. Total negatives total cases How many hospitalizations? How many of those are in I C u How many ventilators and so on? Oklahoma's looking good. And as you heard with our news report earlier, our unemployment number is down. That means more people are going back to work. So that's good news, whereas other states are not so lucky. So that's how we kind of started the show and it went from there. E For 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com just to join in the conversation. Ah, who brought to you? By Hyland Company by the way, a train comfort specialist. It's hard to top of Hill, Matthew, writes Lee. The numbers are definitely skewed. 1 may discuss the statistics all day, but they are questionable. 1 may test positive for Corona virus if one is fighting a common cold. Also 1 may test positive if one has taken a flu shot. Hospitals are classifying many deaths as Corona virus related because there is a huge financial incentive 6000 to $13,000 to do so. One has more of a chance to die in a traffic accident than succumb to Corona virus. I will believe the sincerity behind wearing masks when the government mandates all vehicles parked permanently. Until then, this is all political. And you're right about that, Matthew. But you know what else? If wearing a mask is going to keep our economy going, then I'm all for it. I have no problem with it. If that's what if that's what we need to keep the account because we cannot shut the economy down again, it cannot happen. As it is, they're already talking about another stimulus. And where we're going to get them out of the money. I've gotta print it. You know each time they print up money like that that doesn't have Anything backing it. I've reported Kendra Horn came out, saying she's against another stimulus. She says. It's going to disincentivize people to work. But I think it's just attacked two a tactic to make it look like she is Mohr on the right than she really is. And she's not She definitely It's not. 84 1000 Leigh Matthews, Katie okay dot com. I've got more on this. This promising Corona virus vaccine. There's another one. This one's over in England. That looks like it's doing well, We'll get into that coming up. News radio 1000 Katie. Okay. Hi. You're on the air. I did from Blanchard, I Su and Blanchard. I'm good to see and good to hear from you. I really been enjoying your conversation because I noted the point at which they quit reporting the number recovered. That's the national network. That was the point about two months ago. They just quit doing math. Andi, but I didn't call him because I didn't get to get on your compensation last week, a couple of pounds about whether to wear the master and so originally went. When the first started. I was wearing the mask. Nobody a map and then I talked to my friends in Vietnam and they were like, Where's the past? Because, you know they had that experience with stars and I knew That if you will do it, and if you control it closely, you cannot go in a public building. You cannot go in a school that you don't wear a mask and you don't get tested for temperature And you don't wash your hands right away, but makes sense. And the other point was that if a if a public body boat Okay. It's a City council or a state Legislature or Congress. If anybody vote that you should wear a mask, I'm gonna wear that meaning. You know, I mean, it's just me. It oughta have to require a public policy out of elected officials. Well, that's fine. I I'm at the disadvantage. Sue where I'm I'm married to a medical professional. So I was wearing that mask along before the City Council came out and said, Where the mask Andi and again the lovely wife has been saying telling me all along. If you are a carrier, it'll keep you from getting somebody else sick. It'll help keep the numbers from spreading. I said Fine, sweetie. Fine. So my friends Vietnam, like it's all about protecting the people, and that's why we do it because they had such a starfish. And what cracks me up. You go to any casino in the state. You don't go in without a man. It's not optional..

"First news Leave Aunty is brought to you by Hyland Company, a trained comfort specialist. It's hard to top of Hill. Uh, Capricia Marshall is joining us. Now. She served at the highest levels of government as special assistant to the White House social secretary chief of protocol in the Clinton administration, and she's written about what she knows in a new book called Protocol. Capricia Welcome. Why is protocol particularly important? Especially now government. It really starts the wheels of diplomacy. It lays out a really well defined road map with all of the details for any interaction that our leadership might have between other global leaders. You know when I left my job as chief of protocol in 2013 I realized that people were having a really hard time engaging with one another really hard time connecting with one another. And that's what protocol is really great at is making those necessary connections those bridges of understanding between people so that you can come a little bit closer in your collaboration and perhaps even maybe persuade people to your way of thinking. Is this for just a regular person Who's out there? Maybe wanting to approach their Congress person about something, or is it more along the lines of how one person and one bureau can reach out to another. Oh, it is across the board Applicable, whether it is in your individual life, your business life government wherever you need to make those Really strong connections because you have a goal in mind when you meet somebody new or you're bringing a client in for work or or in my case. When I was trying to make those diplomatic connections between presidents and prime ministers of other countries, you want to make sure that you're investing in that relationship. And in showing the value of that relationship there. Ways in which I talk about how you go about doing that. Understanding their culture expressing your own. Well, whether you that might be your business culture. You know, in every business, you have your own ethos, your branding of what you're trying to convey. Protocol helps you develop that and then make sure that you're you're conveying it. And in a respectful way, you know, we want to respect our engagement. That's one of the strongest tenants of protocol is respect and civility. You wantto honor that, because then it builds up a line of trust. You know, you're creating a connective tissue of trust between you person that you're reaching out to on in the end. You know you're going to find that your collaborations, your your your your personal goals are being met, and you're walking out of that. With a stronger relationship. Capricia Marshall is with us. The name of the book is protocol on NewsRadio. 1000 Katie. Okay, boy. Have things changed in the last couple of months. Now I'm going to confess. I am enjoying the new normal because I'm enjoying the meetings that I have with the people that I regularly meet with. I'm enjoying the fact that digitally it seems to be more people are better prepared for their meeting and the meetings and quicker with bullet points rather than meandering around how you do and how The kids, this kind of thing. Oh, well, that's great to hear that. It's great to hear because there really is a new protocol for how we're engaging in our in virtual space. Like you said, You want people to be really prepared that First and foremost in protocol is preparation preparation is queen. As I say failed the plan plan to fail. So do your research. Know who you're talking Teo on the other side of that call and make sure you're also said it, you know, checking out your setting. What is your backdrop was around. You certainly don't want to be sitting in front of an unmade bed because I conveys a message to the person that you're meeting with. And I don't particularly care about meeting Or maybe I'm just not a very neat person. And so maybe you Don't want to continue having this relationship with may also making introductions. The second that camera goes on. You want to make sure that you are introducing yourself and your team in a way that they know what this is. This conversation's going to be all about because as you point out, we wanted not spend more time in these meetings. We want to spend less time we really want to get to the point of the meeting, and all of that helps us do just that. We're spending less screen time and really talking about our engagement. You you mentioned something made me chuckle. I was in Ah zoom meeting with some executives, and evidently, this executive was in his home office and the lawn service was cutting grass right outside. There was a moment there he had to pause while this colossal roar went by its outside window. But that was the best preparation food. You talk about food in protocol, and I don't know if that's if that's something we're gonna have to put up. Put on hold until we start being a little more social. Did I think for the for the you know, foreseeable short time future more than likely, But this is a great time to think about. How can I use food to improve my engagement? I never wanted to have a hang gree diplomat when I was negotiating with, um, you know, we never want them to be hungry and angry. So I really attended to those basic needs to make sure that they knew again. I was respecting their time. I knew that they needed to be long meetings. And so those basic me When I was chief of protocol, we had launched him a program called Culinary Diplomacy, because we really did believe of breaking bread at the table that those those exchanges interchanges would help them a lot about us and would work in our favor because with soft power tools like food assist in creating that connective tissue that you're trying to establish Capricia Marshall, thanks for joining us Name of the book is protocol available everywhere. And that includes the basement of the Matthews Office. Building. The mob where there's a nice little bookstore down their news, radio 1000 Katie, Okay? Unemployment help. Good morning.
