Which countries are evacuating citizens from Sudan?

"What about the thousands of U.S. citizens who are still in warring Sudan? About 16,000 people who hold U.S. citizenship are still in Sudan as fears grow that the fierce fighting there could lead to even more chaos over the weekend U.S. special ops forces used helicopters to get U.S. embassy personnel out of the capital, Khartoum. A dangerous mission, says retired marine colonel Steve ganyard. Three special operations chinooks flying 800 miles at a hundred feet at night on night vision goggles having to land halfway get gas come into Khartoum where there's active combat going on. He was on ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos. Still in Sudan, those thousands of other U.S. citizens. What about them? The U.S. government has told them they need to figure this out for themselves. There will not be any mass evacuations. I'm Rita foley

Sudan fighting hastens evacuations of diplomats, citizens

"There is no sign of a truce taking hold in Sudan as foreign governments, including the U.S., evacuate their diplomatic staffs. Some 70 U.S. embassy staffers have been airlifted from Sudan's capital, Khartoum. On the order from President Biden, who was advised that there is no end to the fighting between rival military factions. On ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos, military analyst Steve ganyard says, the airlift was dangerous, but it appeared to go well. Three special operations chinooks flying 800 miles at a hundred feet at night on night vision goggles having to land halfway get gas come into Khartoum where there's active combat going on. Other nations are working to evacuate their personnel also. But for U.S. civilians, an estimated 16,000 the military said it was too risky to get them out, but The White House vowed to do what it can to help. Also calling for an end to the fighting. Some of the biggest concerns transmitting diseases like rabies in a cat's instinct to hunt and kill wildlife. An instinct that a new study out of the university of Maryland shows reduces native animal populations and impacts biodiversity. The D.C. cat count survey used data from 60 wildlife cameras across the district, they found that a domestic cat has a 56% chance of running into possums and a 61% chance of encountering red foxes encounters that increase their chance of bringing home rabies, outdoor cats were also found to threaten native wildlife, the study concluded that cat lovers bear the responsibility to keep their feline Friends indoors. "And goshen road. The plane still dangling a hundred feet in the air with two people trapped inside. Joining us live from the scene now is WTO's John Aaron. What are you learning, John? Well, we've learned that some crucial resources have arrived on the scene now. We're talking about tower trucks or bucket trucks that a Pepco contractor is going to use to at some point hopefully try to get these people out of this plane, which I'm looking at right now from the goshen Plaza shopping center. As you said, it's about a hundred feet up in the air. It's illuminated from down below with these giant spotlights put up by firefighters and it's a multi step process that's unfolding right now. It's going to involve people going up on this tower, making sure that the lines are de energized. They're actually going to have to take the plane and secure it to the towers that it doesn't move during a rescue operation and finally the actual act of getting the people out of the plane could take a little while and as you mentioned, we're dealing with massive power outages in the county as a result of this tens of thousands of people out and we're also just told by the fire chief that hospitals are actually having to change the way they take in patients because of these power outages. Reporting live in Montgomery village, John Aaron WTO P news. Hey John, with that plane still not fully secured to those towers, is there any kind of indication that down below they are ready in case it should become extremely unstable? You know, I wondered that and it's certainly a concern of theirs, but I can tell you that right now as you were asking that, the arm of one of these bucket trucks has just gone up, it looks like they are trying to start doing some work here on the tower. It's not clear exactly what, whether this is the de energizing process or whether they're actually going to get people, but there's a large arm from a truck extending to the plane that I'm looking at right now and will of course bring you an update as soon as we learn exactly what this is all about. Absolutely. Thank you. WTO's John Aaron live at the scene of that plane crash into the Pepco tower about a 113,000 customers are without power and Pepco tells us they can't even begin repairing their equipment and restoring the power until the scene has been cleared by the rescue crews. Stay with WTO as we bring you any updates to this situation throughout the evening. Just a head on WTO, the commanders keep their hot streak going. Ten 43. Olivia, from Washington. Arizonans Voted, But the State Database Claims Otherwise

"Look, I'm not trying to give people false hope or anything, but something does not make any sense. We have just received 800 plus emails of people. Not including the four right here. It's now it's four because we just asked where their votes haven't been tabulated from voting in person on election day in Arizona. Let's play cut 280 place. None of the machines were reading very well. My first ballot, they tried to scan about 8 times. It was rejected every time. There was a tabulating machines were down. The line was at least 20 people at the tabulators because of the functioning ill functioning tabulators that should have been properly tested and ready. It did not take. I reversed it did nothing. One of the tabulators was broken and the other table later kept rejecting everyone's hope. There's something not right here. I don't know what it means. I don't know if it's going to be enough or I don't know if tonight she's going to win 70%. I have no idea, but by a very simple statistical analysis, if I'm literally within 30 feet of two people and within a hundred feet of four people that have all had the same experience and these are not drop offs, these are people that voted in person. And it shouldn't be showing that it's not even a matter of provisional. Lori says it shows that I vote has not been counted and I vote, I mean, I got one after the other after the other after the other.

Katie Miller Tells Us About Sight & Sound Theater

"Back, Katie Miller. Hello. It's good to see you. People, some people will remember you. You are the what, you're the head of Sight & Sound theaters. What is your official title? I'm the director of marketing communications. You're the head of marketing and communications, close enough. You're the grandchild of the folks who founded site in sand. Now, people who are just tuning in who don't know what this is. Give us the synopsis of what is site and sound. Sure. So Sight & Sound is based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and we are coming up on celebrating in just a couple of years, 50 years of what we call bringing the Bible to life on stage. So we have two theaters, one in Lancaster, when in Branson, Missouri, they are large theaters, and we are known for bringing Bible stories to life. And when you say they're large theaters, that's the classic Christian understatement like the humble Christian, they're large theaters. They're huge. They're gigantic. They are really huge. They are. Let's be honest. Yeah, they're 2000s are gigantic. 2000 seats, we have a 300 foot wraparound stage so these stories, we want to do these stories justice. So they come through life. Hundred foot wrap around. And the answer is really in the middle of the story that's happening.

The battle to develop the Sports Arena - burst 2

"Today on the southern california real estate report we give an update on a sports arena center and it's becoming quite a battle state. good morning. Welcome to southern california real estate report. This is bob mcguire. Daniel wise coming from san diego california so back in the news. Pechanga arena chain sports arena. Whatever you wanna call it. It's it's kind of the. It's kind of like watching a sporting match like you're like who's going to take the lead. Yeah who's going to win out what's plan from. Different parts of the crowd right exactly. What what ooh. Who has the best ideas and plans. You know who's gonna accommodate. The city's needs fast. So for those of you. That are new to this. The sports arena. Property was last year thrown up basically as a request for proposal to redevelop it. But what happened was was that that was premature because the land actually has to be used for an affordable component of housing. That wasn't considered in the first proposal. So it's kind of interesting so so what happened was it was basically put out as as basically like most real estate. Proposals or requests for proposals are put out. It was put out as basically a best and final and they said. Hey you know you. Mr developer come out and give us your best and final on how you would redevelop this. The surplus land that we have around our sports arena facility. Which by the way. The sports arena in this town if anyone is local for our local listeners. I should say those of us. That are familiar with the sports arena. I mean it's it's really dated so this is long overdue to get this done for a city. That's our size and for a city that now is gonna have what we're going to have in mission valley with the new. Sds you the football stadium and what we already have in. Petco pet khoza class aid stadium. That's rivals any baseball park in the country and the sports has like this really. It's just as really old decrepit building but people love it and they love going to the goals games because they can say close to the ice and things like that so it has some kind of some neat things about it but the building itself is like one thousand nine hundred seventy s the developer. That came out was brookefield. Who has quite a few properties. Here in san diego so there are known developer there known quantity and out of all the best in finals. That's who the city chose now. They made a huge mistake right because in the summer when it went up to the state to get approval of the state turn around said. Now you can't do it because there's no affordable on this property so you have to literally stop and now turn around and go find not only. Somebody's redevelop the sports arena. But also you need to find an affordable developer and then you need to have so do market rate units so brookefield has come back around and now they're saying hey. We understand that. This was a mistake. We're ready to do it again. So originally the units that the total coverage was going to be approximately twenty two hundred residential units but now they're actually increasing that up to like four thousand residential units if you stay under a certain square footage right around six to eight hundred sixty eight hundred square feet. So obviously you can do a large affordable you know component of studio units or you know micro units things like that. That are pretty popular as affordable housing options. You know for single people and people that fit into the average area meaning category. Which they're saying is going to be obviously found by hud and it's like thirty to sixty percent thirty two eighty some eight. I mean you have to remember that. Like six hundred to eight hundred feet. You can of one better in that. Like dont necessarily studios of yeah. Yeah yeah that's true. They could be nice. One bedrooms one in twos in six to eight hundred square feet but but to get the density that they're talking about. I think there's going to be a lot. I guess i should say i should. You're right a one hundred percent and it's there's going to be a smaller. There's going to be smaller. Units so the original plan had a lot of residential houses like sf are and townhomes and things like that so that is probably going to go away to get this additional density that they need so it's going to be interesting. They're going to have to escape park. They're going to have office and retail. They're going to have restaurants so for those of you. That don't know this area. The site is huge. So insight and brookefield is in the running but that toll brothers is trying to trying staged a comeback. Well so toll. Brothers is trying to stage a comeback. But what's really interesting too. Is it so this is now an open bid so they put out basically the so so. The city got the state's approval and now they have basically put out that. Hey this land is available surplus. Here's what you need to do. So there's going to be like you know. Basically on sunday there's going to be a presentation so also condamne who is a local real estate investment firm here that owns apartments nationwide. They're one of the largest apartment owners in the country. Owner and operator i should say so they. They have a big management platform. They're also going to throw their hat in to be the developer on this project as well. They've already it. Sounds like

California Wildfires Threaten Famous Giant Sequoia Trees

"Wildfires in california are now threatening some of the biggest trees on earth two fires in the sierra nevada mountains have already closed down sequoia national park which is home to giant sequoia trees. Some that are as tallest three hundred feet and hundreds of thousands of years. Old two thirds of all giant sequoia groves acres already burned down and wildfires within the last five years historic drought and heat waves caused by man made climate. Change are to blame for the extreme proliferation of fires in the area. Firefighters are working hard to protect the giants by doing things like robbing them in huge fire-resistant blankets that are usually reserved for protecting buildings. Here's hoping that they're able to save the general sherman tree which fun fact is the largest city in the world by volume it will become the biggest and most vengeful tree goats if we kill it via climate change we cannot let that

"Jeff and Joe jovian for big Bill Doyle and producer Kylie more She was there that at a story that actually made news largely because of her She was one of those calling the newsroom after was all over with but yeah almost saw a girl drowned at the unguarded beach in belmar but some good samaritans jumped in and saved the kid So we want to know what kind of close calls have you either been in yourself helped out in or just witnessed in the water one 802 8 three 101.5 Jane and lawrenceville your first step on the New Jersey water 1.5 hey Jane Hey I was there yesterday I told Kylie I wish she was there I would have loved to meet her But yeah Oh you were there at that very incident Wow I was there I heard so many screaming What the heck is going on And I looked up because I was not paying attention Right And obviously all the beachgoers were looking around and standing in But they were actually two girls I watched them all morning They were right in front of me They played all morning in the water I thought they're having a great time in the water And then later on much later they this happened And then what obviously happened is they were on one side of the Jedi jetty and the water had to Jedi would have been cooler Yeah Yeah I know So I'm sorry So they're on one side of the jetty Jetty And then the current actually drifted over to the other side And I was right next to the two people who rescued them because when they came back I was like gosh you are awesome And he said no she was great And I was like no it was a team effort But they said the same thing They were watching and they saw that the girls were getting too close there And then they went to the other side And luckily because the current wasn't as strong on the other side but still I mean pretty you know pretty bizarre to have that much tragedy not tragedy got thank God it wasn't a tragedy but one could lift it up a little of girl and she walked down to the jetty back to her mom and then they paddled the other one in So yeah and then obviously but I mean a beachgoer actually went to the couple and said could we take your picture you guys were great And I know the parent was probably like the last thing on our mind was like who rescued my kids but the couple just sat there like you know just kind of hang out in cool and I would have thought the parent would have a kid what I said Thank you for saving my life That's awkward when it's like the parent is there but then the parent didn't jump in Yeah Did you have a similar feeling as Kylie where you just kind of felt bad 'cause you just anxiety I did because the water was getting pretty rough And I was like oh my God but you know what lots of people were running out with both boogie boards Walking across the jetty And so I mean there was a lot of support out there but then we did see two of the swimmers I guess the rescue squad They went out and definitely slam out there Yeah it's a dangerous time of the year Hey Jay we appreciate your story Thank you Thanks for calling in to New Jersey 101.5 All right well so that confirms Kylie wasn't making it up Yeah It happened all right Kylie I'm kidding We're kidding I so while we're talking about close calls people had in the water one 802 8 three 101.5 To Pennsylvania we go Paul you're on New Jersey 101.5 hello Paul Hey good afternoon guys Hey So just turn 18 went down to cancun We landed got excited because we could drink down there Did a couple shots and then had to get in that water So we jump in the water Dangerous combo Paul I know I know I learned it I learned it this experience but we jumped in the water We're out there waves start getting rough and you're about between a 102 hundred feet from shore And so we started going back now my cousin he was a boy scout and all that He had no problem getting back but me I was starting to feel it And you're starting to feel drunk Exactly Oh my God So the waves start crashing like barely keep ahead above water but I had to think of something real quick and what I did was you know like in a resort they usually have those lines that run from the shore out a 102 hundred feet and they kind of designate what beach belongs to Yes So I decided to try something So what I did was I took a deep breath I sank down to where those lines were and then I started using the lines pull myself up towards the shore to the current because like I said my legs were starting to get tired You thought of this while you were hammered That's pretty good Wow Well you know what Somebody was watching over me But you know it's just one of those things where I felt like he always those movies where they're shipwrecked and they crawl onto shore and the sands everywhere in their face Right That was made that day Yeah Was it like were you like you were utterly spent by the time you got to sand Oh yeah Oh yeah once I got up to the shore Thanks for calling It's crazy I'm surprised you don't hear more about drunk people going in the water and having catastrophic results Because I mean how many people go to the beach and just get.

California Wildfires Threaten Giant Sequoias

"In a pair of wildfires. In california's sierra nevada mountains are threatening some of the largest trees on earth. The trees known as giant sequoias grow in sequoia national park within the rugged mountains. Firefighters are aggressively attacking the fires to help suppress them. The trees which can reach heights of three hundred feet have already been hit hard by fires. In recent years the national park service says somewhere between seventy five hundred and just over ten thousand mature giant sequoias were destroyed in the last year alone.

The Port Chicago Disaster

"One is quite sure exactly what happened but at ten eighteen pm there was a loud crash. The seminars reported as sounding like metal and timber falling down. This probably a crane or one of the booms which had collapsed then. There was the sound of an explosion and then a fire about five. To seven seconds later there was a massive explosion that destroyed the entire facility. It was one of the largest explosions in history up until that point pilots in the air at the time saw a fireball three miles into the air. The blast was felt in boulder city nevada. Four hundred thirty miles away. There was damaged onto buildings in san francisco forty eight miles away debris landed over two miles away and the plane which witnessed it said it's all white hot debris shooting past it. At an altitude of seven thousand feet. It coastguard fireboat near the pier was thrown six hundred feet or one hundred and eighty meters away where it eventually landed in the water and sank. There were three hundred and twenty men and the peer when the explosion occurred all of them died instantly. Two thirds of the dead. Were african american enlisted men who were working on the dock. In fact this explosion by itself was responsible for fifteen percent of all of the african american deaths in the second world war. I've got a previous episode on the halifax harbour explosion during world war one. The portugual explosion wasn't quite as large. But it wasn't too far away the biggest difference and the reason why the fatalities were lower. Portugal is that there were no civilians on the base. There were two hundred and fifty other injuries and of the men who were killed only fifty one wherever identified an inquiry was launched only four days after the explosion and the ruling was that it was probably the fault of one of the enlisted men. Nothing was mentioned about the poor safety conditions and the lack of training

Operation Crossroads: The Test of Atomic Weapons in Naval Warfare

"World war two had just ended the year before in nineteen forty-five while the war was over. The cold war between the united states and the soviet union was just beginning at this particular moment. The united states had a monopoly on atomic bombs. However it while they had vanished to create and detonate several bombs. There was still a great deal. They didn't know about this weapon. Only three atomic bombs had been detonated at this point. The original trinity test explosion in new mexico. The bomb used over hiroshima and the one used over nagasaki. All three of these were detonated over land. What no one knew was what would happen. If these weapons were used in naval warfare. What would happen to ships which were hit with an atomic blast with they sankar would they flow it. People in the navy had speculations but no one had any proof to this end of the. Us navy initiated operation crossroads. This was to be an a of atomic weapons in naval warfare. The navy search for a location where they could conduct such a test. They needed somewhere remote yet somewhere where they could set up headquarters on land and have observation posts. They eventually settled on a remote coral atoll in the pacific ocean in the marshall islands. The navy move the one hundred sixty seven people who lived on the island to other nearby islands so they could begin testing. They also sailed a fleet of ninety five ships to the atoll which would serve as target ships for the test. These were ships that were set for retirement and the scrap yard and instead would be used for testing they would get newt facilities for over. Forty thousand people were constructed. Who would be there to the tests. They had to build everything from scratch. They build bunkers to observe the test. They built barracks kitchens offices clubs for officers and clubs for enlisted men. It was a massive undertaking and all done far away from prying eyes in the middle of the pacific ocean on july first. The first of these tests took place he would be the fourth atomic bomb ever detonated. In the first above water the test was given the codename able it was dropped from a b twenty nine bomber and exploded approximately five hundred feet above the surface. It caused surprisingly little damage to the ships because the bombs were about a third of a mile or six hundred meters off target the next day. The news of this event spread around the world and everyone became familiar with this remote pacific island which was named

Locast Shutting Down After Losing Court Battle With TV Networks

"Low caste was a solution that let you watch your local channels over the internet. So if you didn't live near enough to the big city to get the channels but you were in the what they call the area of dominant influence the of that market as we are. We're about fifty miles north of san francisco too far for anything but antenna on one hundred foot masts to get the Get reception so that's why you know cable does well out here in the boonies in the suburbs in the burbs And of course those are the two constituencies really liked this idea of low caste because i could just fire up low-caste dot org and watch my local stations without an antenna without A cost and the rationale was. We'll hey they're broadcasting for free it's ad-supported why the heck not so the first company to try this. Remember the areo. Their excuse was they had a little dime sized antennas and every subscriber had their own antenna. So all they were doing is putting that intent ten on the internet supreme court. Shut that down mighty fast. That was it for area. So low caste thought. Well we got another loophole. This is a new tradition. It's kind of interesting You don't like the rules. The laws of the land. You try to sneak in through the side door. It's actually a the great american pastime. Probably great human pastime gaming the system right. there's a system. There's some rules but they don't apply to me. How can we get around those rules. Let's figure out a way to get around. So what low. Caste thought was in fact there right. If you're a nonprofit if you don't profit off of this in others. I just did. Leo's internet thing. If for free set up a tower got the reception and then put it on the internet. Made sure that only people in that area could see it. That would be legal

"Side of a ridge and from the top to the bottom of the ridges. Maybe only fifty to a hundred feet for the king's palace would have been at the top of the ridge and then all the houses would be stair steps to down the side of the ridge from there. so it's i think easy to understand how the king in the palace looking over the edge could see the rooftop of pretty much every other house within dad card of the city so it does raise the interesting question to david and bash even know each other before she would certainly have known that is only one person that it would actually possibly see onto that roof and that would be the king himself so that does raises. Some interesting questions was voluntary on her part. Was this an abduction et cetera. Verse three davidson someone to inquire about the woman. It was reported. this is bethsheba daughter of them. The wife of your ira the hittite. Little piece of trivia. One of the things scholars are supposed to do. Besides pursuing the areas of interest is sometimes the pursue things. No one else is interested in. And when i was helping to ride the anchor bible dictionary which was published by doubleday now by yale university. I was assigned among other things. That article on alaikum e. l. a. m. who happens to be the father chiba and in pursuing everything. There was to say about him. I discovered that eliakim was also the son of a his official. That's where things start to get interesting. The bible never says bass sheba's the granddaughter of a his official says she's the daughter of eli mini lion somewhere else is the son of a hip l. a. His afoul. you may remember was dave. It's chief adviser. And he was the one who david seared when david was exiled from jerusalem and a his afoul went over to his son absalom. And they've said all if a his official is counseling absolute. I'm dead meat. He's way too smart for us. We're in real trouble well. The interesting question is why did a hissel betray david and here we start to get a little bit of insight into that story. Evidently what happened between david and bass. Sheba had an impact not only on david's family but on her family and her grandpa you may not have looked at favorably upon his boss from that moment on so just a little bit of trivia that may add a little interest story burst four so david sent messengers to fetch her and she came to him and he lay with her now. She was purifying herself after her period. Then she returned to her house all right so here you have the language of taking and so that would make it sound like it's sort of involuntary at the same time it wasn't rape so we have an interesting dilemma here to fully understand it and we will see later on that. There's also an indication that it may have been more voluntary than language suggests or the woman conceived and she sent an told. David i am pregnant all right so a question for you to consider and talk about if you would like. What would they some of the consequences of david's action for all the major players in the story was out going into chapter twelve and so on where other consequences are laid out a just thinking about the story..

"hundred feet" Discussed on Airline Pilot Guy - Aviation Podcast

"Answer i believe this. Video highlights the importance of really knowing your aircraft's performance characteristics and limitations as well as the value of frequently practicing emergency maneuvers. A safe environment and i watched it very interesting video and they go through and as he said. They set up several different scenarios with different types of airplanes and You know taking australia head. And then reaching a certain altitude turning back and making that u-turn trying to land opposite direction on the runway from which they took off and it was interesting and surprising in many ways to me So definitely higher. Highly recommend that you watched the video. We'll have a link to it in the show notes. You guys have a to take a look at this get. Yeah i took a look with great interest because When we would kill fis funny. Flying a single engine whole We had a very formal set parameters for a painting tone back in the hall if you took a bird during the first few hundred feet of flight And i can't remember exactly what the parameters were but i'm going to guess at something like Five hundred feet and one hundred eighty. Don't so something like that. You had to have achieved both as parameters before you're allowed to attempt one and what we did was to show the wind wasn't straight down the runway with On the down wind of forty five and then reverse so that. All your Major turning was done at the higher end of your altitude the euro giving up while you're gliding Around this turn And not you're not attempting to finish a final turn very close in the low level where you might not have time to assess the that your in a stolen you need to check And then you line up on the runway and basically look and see how you doing and quite quickly. It's you know you can wear all pilots sweet and assess when with sliding below the ideal glide path and probably not gonna make into the runway in only and tracking up the windshield and everything. You're starting to try to stretch the glide. All the pointers are there and you just make it as an jump up but And they were clearly defined. And if you didn't meet both those parameters you just eject to pick a nice pinot placed upon airplane and pointed out to sea or something and and jake butt it very different When it's your right airplane or if you're in a different type of flying different types We just have one type of the privatised varied depending on the type of aircraft and of course only conditions of day can make a significant difference. Just maneuvering heart without avenging close to the ground His just inherently very dangerous. Thanks what they're trying to say most of the rest of the time but it is possible in some types. If you've got the right amount of energy hundred till about energy right right the I believe it was the beechcraft. Bonanza that Kind of failed every attempt. They made do the impossible turn. It was for that airplane. I believe it was a bonanza impossible. But i believe they also used a cessna one. Seventy two one eighty to one of those and And a j three cub j. Three cub cub had no problem. You could probably do a couple turns around and land. Yeah well that's the point and you've got to be familiar with your time. An and quite honestly a sensible pilot flies with an experienced. Cfi type on they fly the maneuvers together. Work out what this pilot should use his minimum and If you if you don't reach both those heightened speed parameters then think about it just point ahead on field and hopefully you've done your homework beforehand. So you know what feels there are off the end of the runway because you know when your engine fails at three hundred feet. That's really not the time to stop trying to find a field. You've got a bit of a think about like sullied. It about where he was going to put that airplane if he had a problem in the middle of new york and he went net. Funnel thing i thought about this before this is what i'm gonna do And of course. I want our listener. That had the forced landing shortly after takeoff from that airport in Just outside of charlotte Ben i believe it was. His name was He's a cfi. Is that right louis. Correct okay and he talked about that. Very fact neck that He knew the lay of the land Off every possible runway in use at that airport and he knew that you know just a slight turn to the left was a huge wide open field available for a forced landing if necessary. So yeah well done to him because the sort of thing he just really wanna stow the day happens by the way are hag don't are just are h actually Did a Interviewed ben On an episode of the Opposing basis podcast. And it was a very interesting and more in depth Kind of interview To find out about all the things that ben was thinking out and all the circumstances of that day and everything else was very very interesting will A link to that. I was very good. I just thought. Rh was a bit mean Studying he was a dreadful product because he couldn't remember the Traffic information service letter. The letter declared it a motion seed. Didn't say with alpha all right. And that i thought our h. Could have given a bit of a break. Come i agree. I think he was very In that respect. I mean well. "What looked like a reasonable landing spot and everything Stole appeared to be okay. And i could see and and neil also wanted to avoid crater. That was in front of us or when as about a hundred feet. Now looking out the window. Manually controlling. And i'm giving him the numbers of the altitude. The rate decent and the speed over the ground are forward. Keep updating with that information or forward had about a hundred feet. There's a light that comes on. This few will quantity light and by that time. The capsule communicator. Charlie duke says second okay. Hundred feet sixty. We better ease. What i'm saying but i don't want to disturb. Neil say hurry a little further thirty seconds but we're ten feet. I figured when the landing gear is just about to touch their probes down about five six seats and as soon as they hit the ground they will band desert. It's supposed to bend. And that sets a micro switch and the lights light and the cabin. And that's when high said neal was looking out window controlling it. But that's the first indication of actually touching down. And we actually touchdown here. And i call out a few things we need to do Okay downey go then. Golden.

"Report from the aviation safety dot net Aviation safety network. And let's see a cessna. Six eighty citation sovereign. Lv or. maybe that's a fifteen. I don't know if that's a roman numeral at that'd be fifteen okay l. is l. is l. is fifty. Oh fifty five and five is five fifty five okay. I mean if that's even what they're doing with the letters if they're doing roman numerals or just lv me. That stands for a citation sovereign. Las vegas model. I don't know I'm going with that okay. Will they made a belly. Landing the crew silence. The oral alarms of the tawes t. a. w. s. in order to avoid such alarms Good idea how did that work for and lists. How did that work out. Lake so Okay the cessna. Six eighty citation sovereign took off from san fernando international airport bound for the private. Oh help me out. Rick a grew up around water audio over real. Moore's of courses thing just to harry go Because my evernote here let me see here. went from Go pick what do you do you who are mental airstrip. Exactly the way. I gone south and made a stopover at the airports. Okay yeah watching. Keep keep going there. You're doing a great job. All right so the. The aircraft took off from santa at Twelve fifteen hours local time after fifteen minutes of flight with the runway insight to the silence. The oral alarms of toss in order to avoid such alarm since the aerodrome was not registered in the aircraft navigation database in the final landing face. The crew observed a flock of medium sized birds. That diverted their attention. That the that'll that'll get you. Yeah that'll definitely gadget close to touchdown. After checking instrument readings and speed the cruise sensed that the aircraft continued to descend without making with the runway at the altitude. It normally did. Yeah i think. I must be not attitude. Don't you think yeah. That's that's not good. As i would catch me by surprise while the aircraft was making contact with the run with a commander in the nonflying pilot role lowered the landing. Your quick was unable to complete extension. Nope no one will ever know. No the aircraft decelerated rapidly. That's me saying that. All the few sought for five hundred meters over the runway and then exit the runway to the left with the aircraft stopped evacuation took place. The passengers and crew were uninjured. The accident occurred during daylight and good weather conditions Should we continue under the problem. Causes here yes sir. All right so it says your conclusions regarding factors related to the act says your prior to take off the cockpit speaker mute function was activated which was only able to the pilot and co-pilot headsets all warnings and terrain proximity system. Audience were muted. The crew removed their headsets during the final at face. That's what you do that. Yeah the pressures of birds during final landing could have been a distraction factor in one of the most critical phases of the flight. I think this is a big one here. Procedural checklists were not used Yeah and then. I think the The the one that gets put the the final thing here was not. What's not extended right. Piloting light this. I don't know i mean this is. This is why we have checklist. I've i've never flown on smaller type. Airplanes i've never flown biz app. I've never flown private jets. None of that stuff. But you know systems work. Basically the same you have on the jets flown all-boeing thank goodness The landing gear warning activates under very specific conditions. One of them being that if you're below eight hundred fi radio altitude and you have the thrust lever at idle either thrust levers at idle you'll get a an oral warning Through the Not only the only speakers. The speaker's obviously the way to silence that is by putting the landing gear down But you you hope it doesn't get to that point because of your eight hundred feet off the ground and you don't have landing gear down. I you just flew three or stabilized approach gateway 'cause usually thousand feet. It used to be five hundred feet for visual approaches and thousand feet for instance britches. But now i think just about every irwin out there. Every operator out there is brought up that that up to about a thousand right. Yeah i think most most airlines have. I believe so. So if you're if you get two hundred feet and you don't have the gear down then. Obviously you're gonna be unstable ice on on these. Larger airplanes gear takes about three hundred feet to come down So that puts you at five hundred feet and then you still have to go to landing flap which takes about another fifty to one hundred feet so you would certainly blow through the five hundred foot gate as well And and really the the the way to mitigate all this by you know following a checklist and being methodical about that now obviously landing in an airplane at an airport. That doesn't That's not contained in a An navigational database has its own challenges in that you have to tell the navigation system where the airport is and you kind of have to build an approach based on the lat long of the field and not only that but on these newer type plants where the prejudice is tied to the airport Being the database because part at one one of the one of the I guess important pieces of information about airports contained in the database is the airport elevation and on these airplanes newer type airplanes that half an automatic pressurization system. You don't longer need. You know jim in the third seed back there. In the engineer working out the the cabin altitude the airplane nose went to begin. Depressurizing the airplane at white right to do it. And if you don't have the airport and the database then you have to go through a supplement procedure to kinda you know do that semi automatically What the what. How they do that here And then on top of that. You had the birds so it was. I think it was a kind of a kind of a high workload type situation And then you had the birds at the end and the none. None not use the checklist. It just goes with you know. It's never just one thing it's always a chain of events and that if you progress to appoint you know things thank started go south and if you let it just happens now i tried to get some more detail Regarding this whole thing by reading the accident report and desk. So i downloaded it. And but i had a little trouble reading it because it was mostly in spanish. Suddenly be unhappy yet while. Yeah but it wasn't on simon's website if it had been oh yes sure he would have said.

"How partisan political press is it shows in fact Just how the media will take whatever side. The democrats are on and make it the positive side of the story. The national political press now makes the democrats the protagonist in all of these voting stories. Look at what happened in georgia in georgia they passed a fairly reasonable measure that was grossly mischaracterized by the national press including the claim that they were prohibited seen the they were prohibiting people from getting food and water within a hundred feet of the polls which is not true. The legislation provides for water and food with one hundred feet. You just can't be a non voter or non poll worker now in fairness food is questionable but water one hundred percent. The legislation allows for water within one hundred feet of the polling location. It just can't be served by activists by the way outside of one hundred feet of the polls. You can have the food truck at a bar and grill if you want but the media never bothered to cover that as well. Everything is designed to make the republicans look bad now. There's a related story in georgia about the Georgia bill the atlanta journal. Constitution has a story georgia. Absentee ide- law has outsized impact on black and metro voters. Now here's what you've got to understand in georgia like states. It is a requirement that if you're going to vote you've got to have a photo. Id there's a loophole in the law in that. If you go by absentee voting you don't have to have a photo. Id instead they do a signature match to your driver's license or voter registration card and now the ajc is in over two hundred. Seventy two thousand registered. Voters don't have a driver's license or state. Id on file with election officials. Meaning they'd have to submit additional documents to vote by mail under georgia's new law the idea requirements disproportionately affect black voters. Who are much less likely than white voters have. Id numbers matched to their voter registration. According to electric now pay attention to the sleight of end. The requirements directly affect to black voters. Who are much less likely than white voters to have. Id numbers matched to their voter registrations according to election data.
