"Time. We have seen it as advocates on the ground as human services agency on the ground to continue to see over and over again that these agencies are inept. To humanely guiding migrants to our immigration system and further continue. Instead, they further continue to terrorize migrant communities located within our communities. And after you hear that, I mean, think about this. You get America's leaders attacking Another institution that they're looking to drive morale down and so again. If you can't defund it, you can defame it. You can figure out a way to get these guys to just say it's not worth it. I'm not supported by my leaders. I'm told to stand back and stand down. I can't do my job and the leaders treat me like garbage. They call me an F. Brandon Judd, head of the Border Patrol union. Was on T V a little bit ago. Here's him responding to receive it to let Let's look at the numbers and let me give you just one example of something that happens on a daily basis in Huma, Arizona. We had a group of 156 people cross the border illegally. We only had two agents that were able to respond to that group of 156 people. Those two agents were only able to take 19 people in because the rest of them were able to have gone and get away. That's and when we talk about defunding the border even more. There's not going to be any agents that are going to be able able to respond to groups like that. And we again do not know who these people are. We don't know what their intentions are here in the United States yet Congresswoman to leave is talking about taking funds away from from something that is national security again. It makes absolutely no sense, right. I mean, it leaves you with two options, right malice or moron. That's the game that you constantly have to play. Like, what's what's going on here. Are you intentionally trying to destroy the country? Is that the game plan or are you just so inept that you should not be in that job at all? Or is it some combination of both? It could be that it could be that, But that's proceeded to leave this week, saying, You know what we really should do.

"Of Banana Republic system all year, along with their phony caucuses and And we still do We know who won in California. They're still counting votes there because it was Iowa took forever and nobody really paid any attention. When they finally started it out. The fix was in Bernie wasn't going to get it. You know, Hillary was at home, waking up in pools of her own vomit every day. And then Joe Biden. Even though his brain doesn't work, they decided that he was going to be the guy. Very early on and the primaries were just window dressing. It was just a joke because it was rigged. It was fixed before the first ballot was cast. And in fact, you know Kamala Kamala Harris. She dropped out of the whole process before the first ballot was cast in the first primary. Because she had no money, no funding, no fundraising and no support. I think she started out when she entered the race with 14% support among Democrats and ended up with 2% support when she dropped out and and everybody just heard it said won't want one. She walked away. But lucky for her. She had the right genetic composition and gender for this year's Big Democrat Party competition, and it's been an extraordinary road ever since, hasn't it? Yes, it has, and it promises to become even more amazing, but we do have Some of the stuff from last night silliness. They had Bill Clinton. He didn't look very good. You see, Bill Clinton had needed look as good as I don't know. The Energizer must be wearing him down or something. He looked a little little fatigue and they had burning the Bolshevik and they had a She hates capitalism. These people are Communists. They're basically Communist. Burning, and they call themselves socialist Democratic Socialist of America. Democrats have throwaway line designed to deceive but the eyes crazy people on the left anyway, we have the whole because it was about one minute long. That's all the time they had for AOC. She in that amount of time, of course, could share with us everything that she knows and still have time for a couple of sips of coffee. She is not a bright one. She was shocked and amazed to discover a garbage disposal in her apartment in Washington, DC, like arriving on another planet. Oh, a brave new world that has such things in it. And 60 seconds. She did express her disdain for the United States of America for our history for capitalism on then she endorsed Bernie standards, which And she never mentioned lunch bucket job because the party is completely insane. I think she went out. None had like a one person riot in the street. I'm not sure but we'll get to that. It is Andre were a couple of other bolt neck was they're frightening The Children, you know, the Frankenstein like secretary of state to Barack Obama, and he made up some whoppers last night. This boy is funnier than I thought. He really talk about the jawbone of an ass. You gotta look at this guy. He was saying some stuff last night That was off the charts crazy and did such a great job with Iran and that and that climate deal and Trump is bad and they were the model for the world, the Obama administration and I'll get into that, because nothing could be a bigger joke. But the news media will never affect check him because they're fluff. Er, they're not journalists. They're just chapstick sporting floppers, and that's their That's their role in our society. So we've got a lot of things funny stuff. I have the actual text that doesn't take long. I can read it faster than she can, I think and the ratings not good, Not good people not really watching very much of the Democratic national thing, because why would you And of course, this was during the Wuhan locked down when you don't have a lot of options in terms of going out and having a grand old time on the boulevard because of the Chinese death thing, called the Wuhan and and so everybody's locked in the house and still not watching the Democrats with their insanity. It's pretty wacky. They also had Sally eight's. They have no sense of irony. Sally Yates to attack President Trump saying that he's weaponized the Justice Department. I mean, my God, it's the very definition of irony, and they have no understanding whatsoever. They state with a straight face Sally Eights who was in the Oval Office meeting with Barack Obama and Joe Biden on January 5th. Where are they? You know, Logan Act and the oldest And where they were conspiring and she was shocked, shocked, I say to learn that Barack Obama was all up to speed on the unmasking and the wiretapping and effect of general Michael Flynn and she didn't think that the president knew anything about it. Turns out he was giving the briefing. You know, like Ronald Reagan on Saturday Night Live. Pulling down maps, and he's got a point. He's large and in charge of this whole biggest scandal in American political history, spying on the opposing party's presidential campaign with illegally obtained a search warrant from the FISA court based on lies and altered documents and Hillary Clinton's opposition research, and they actually invited Sally Yates and the news media does this with a straight face. Isn't she wonderful? She would be the attorney general. If Joe Biden were to win, and then the cover up would be complete. And everybody that tried to tell the truth would go to gulags and the truth would never come out. Because they are the third world where the third world in a Prius, they just show up and they bring the third world with him. These people are really something spectacularly corrupt, ridiculous people. And Elizabeth Warren thanking native Americans again no sense of irony. So, so incredibly unbelievable. We've got lots of good stuffs Stephen Colbert versus the Democratic National Convention. What's the difference? We have that coming on Gu Bernard Cuomo. He had this guy's unbelievable. He's got a new book out about what a great job he did, murdering all those people in the old folks homes with pillows. Like Michael Carly on this bodyguard in Godfather, Part two just extraordinary stuff. He's got a new book out really about what a wonderful job that he's done. And he has the worst record of any locale on the planet Earth, including Wuhan itself. Wuhan is safer from the Wuhan, then New York and and he is putting out a book and the news media is praising it in applauding it saying, Yeah, homemade trump. We're as good as baby Doc. Then there would be a lot fewer something. They're completely insane. These people are not Nancy Pelosi is I think she's had some kind of a mental Problemas well since last time she came out in public. Extraordinary stuff to get to today and, oh, President Trump. Excuse me in Arizona yesterday and he was in Frei Go on. He's going after the Democrats as only President Donald Trump can't And we have a bunch of audio from President Trump from Huma, Arizona yesterday, where he was where he was just great was hit out of the park all over the place. And I've got that Now. It's where I get that yesterday, President Trump pardoned and we talked about it because we learned about it while we're on the air yesterday. Hey, pardon Susan B. Anthony, the great They call them suffragettes, you know, like the Elton John Song Suffragettes City. But I don't know if you noticed this. They've killed the term suffragettes. They've killed the term suffragettes. And now there's suffragists. Another several, which means we might have to cancel Elton John for that suffragettes City song because he has the word that's no longer in vogue. When it comes to suffragettes Susan B. Anthony, you know she's on a dollar coin in the United States of America because feminists fought in the 19 seventies eighties to get to get around currency. And so Susan B. Anthony, who fought for women to get the vote and over the dead bodies of Democrats, who would sacrifice themselves to prevent women from getting the vote..

"And we're only going to talk about the Yuma Arizona situation because there needs to be some humor in this situation. I'm serious. If you think you have an idea for how we could end this contest between politicians in which real people are being hurt every day, your fellow citizens. Maybe some of your neighbors. Give us a call at eight eight eight three six seven five three two nine eight eight three six seven five three two nine. 'cause I believe desperate times. Do sometimes require desperate means. I'm willing to listen to any good idea. And in the meantime. This week. More than three hundred migrants. They actually showed pictures of this through the taken through the night vision goggles. Three hundred people tunneled under the border fence near Yuma. Arizona, well, admittedly, but Huma Arizona border area is not exactly the steel slap fence that we have at San surrounding San Diego. But. It is it is a meaningful barrier. And and it isn't like it's one of these El Chapo tunnels where somebody dug it out, and they electrified it. And all of that. Heck, no, the coyotes the smugglers gave the migrants a bunch of shovels, and they dug about seven six or seven holes. Through at the base of the fence and just kinda snuggled their way through. I mean, I'm I'm sure you your kids do this in the sandbox, right? And so this is the largest group ever caught at one time, and they were not running away from the border patrol. They came right up to them. So in this group of slightly over three hundred one hundred and seventy nine children. Twenty or thirty of them are unaccompanied minors. In other words, they made the journey from Honduras without parents. And that in and of itself to me is amazing. And by the way, that hunt those hundred seventy nine children if we give temporary protected status, which eventually will be for the current dreamers. It's gonna be agreement at some point. But that dream act has a cutoff around two thousand five in terms of when you entered the US, and there are tens of thousands of kids in similar situations, including one hundred and seventy nine that we're talking or some number of them that we are talking about at Yuma this week who will someday be? Children who arrived here as. Children who grew up in America and want to be treated like Americans, so DACA legislation while I believe it will it must come because it's the right thing to do. To give these dreamers permanent status is also going to form a precedent. And so that's part of the difficulty in getting this thing passed, but here's where I'm coming from in the bottom line, the shut up the shutdown. The American government should not shut down. It has government of the people for the people not politicians for the people and by the people. And so I'm ready to listen to anybody's good idea about how to end this thing. Eight eight eight three six seven five three two nine. But in the meantime, in the meantime, we need to recognize that a wall is only half the solution and does nothing to address the issues of terrorism which came through and and threatens us most often at our airports fill forty seven percent of illegal immigrants. In the United States today. Our visa overstays and the president's proposal does nothing not one nickel to stop that problem, and so comprehensive border security is is is technical. It's not. It's not physical. It's technical. It can be done. At the very least, call your congressperson and your senator's office both of them and scream at them. This has to end as does the Los Angeles unified school district strike that's now going to enter its second week. Yup. Second largest school district in the United States of America thirty thousand teachers. Six hundred thousand students. About a thousand schools schools. In addition to it. There are two hundred charter schools in the district. It may shock you. It shocked me eighty percent of the kids in the LA unified school district public schools. Eighty percent of those kids. Are on free or reduced lunch. That means a family. Let's say a a unwed mother and one child has an income less than twenty seven thousand dollars and some change a parent and two children or two parents and one child a little over a little less than thirty one thousand dollars. So that means if you are working a full time two thousand eighty hour work year at minimum wage you barely qualify. You would you.

"Across the border and customs and border patrol agents, including Mark Morgan who was costume border patrol chief under Obama stated that a wall works in Texas along we have the Rio Grande river that is across the US Mexico, Texas border. Shallow river. There are no barricades. Also. Where those people are coming across is where there are. No, they're where barricades and El Paso Huma. Arizona ninety percent of the traffic has been stopped one weekends. If I may interrupt for just a second. I don't know whether you supported the way in which the Trump administration enforce the policy whereby more than two and half thousand children were separated from their parents a policy which in the end was challenged successfully in the colts. I don't know whether you want to go back to that. But I'm telling you a lot of Republican donors, and you work closely with the Republican donors are very unhappy about the long term consequences of what Donald Trump is doing in terms of the wall, the shutdown everything else, I'm going to quote, you one Dan Eberhardt and big donors supportive of Trump in the past. He said weaponising a so-called national emergency to achieve a policy objective is usually something that happens in banana republics not in. George Washington's Republic, you have got a problem here. That's one donor out of many of the RNC raised over two hundred sixty million dollars last election cycle. That's a record. I look at money coming in. And I look at the fact that the base is supporting him. Yes. There are dissenters, and I will say something about the families being separated from children, I found that extraordinarily distressing, and and certainly very disturbing. And so I haven't always agreed with everything and the Trump administration. I'm a volunteer, by the way, I'm not paid by the campaign. So I am very much an independent thinker. But I do feel that President Trump has a right instincts, especially since I'm from Texas that I've experienced it firsthand the drug cartel situations. Drug cartels, like Sonallah controlling certain states in Mexico. Yes. The drugs are coming. From the port of entry. But I visited with Jamie hunt who's the former DA chief out of New York City. And he said that these drugs are coming in on tractor trailers, they have very smart criminals who are putting false walls. So if we can have a wall one time expense, we can re allocate the money to come up with better detection systems. More sensors drawings that can that are flying low that are coming in by bad actors. We have a lot of work to do the walls down and end all be all important. First step. I wanna I wanna move on from from the wall in the shutdown. But before we finish this one last question in brief, please what is the way out of this. Donald Trump has suggested he could live with a shut down for months, if not a year or more is not acceptable. Is it the way out is for congress to do his job? And if I were President Trump, I would suggest. Chest that he told members of congress not to go home not to recess not to go to Puerto Rico on a lobbying trip as many Democrats did over the weekend. But stay in Washington to your job sit down and find bipartisan legislation both sides need to give in a bit. He will as a relaxed resort declare a national emergency something, I don't totally support. And I think that we need a legislative solution, and that's up to congress, especially those facing reelection twenty twenty. Problems are legion. And perhaps most pressing him inside the White House when he's with his closest advisers and legal counsel is the sense in which the Mueller investigation is now closing in on him is closest associates and the White House. How did you react when you learn from the newspapers this last week that the FBI launched an investigation into whether Trump wittingly or unwittingly had acted as an agent of Russia in twenty seventeen I thought it was outrageous and Ken Starr, the prosecutor for whitewater said yesterday that hit was amazing. And that there should be an investigation into who leaked that from the DOJ or the FBI the fact that they are calling Trump a Russian agent is preposterous. Secondly, we do have we do have a small group and leadership that has been discredited in the FBI. Call me. Was fired that was the president's constitutional, right? We have Andrew McCabe congress on the subject of is acceptable for Donald Trump to call James Komi with his distinguished record and career quote a dirty cop. Well, they certainly did not show best practices. He went. He worked to FBI. He had served the FBI loyally for years. He had served different presidents in different jobs. Always with outstanding success and Donald Trump dismisses him as a bad cop. Andrew Card had problems with call me way back during Bush, forty three. Komi has shown in the past almost a willingness to be a Bob best practices. The fact that he went to the press exonerated Hillary Clinton after interviewing her or having that interview during July fourth weekend few days later. There was the announcement that she put an exoneration without a foreign best to Gatien. The fact that call me linked through a professor at Columbia to the press is again, not something that is normally acceptable me. I I would say that he does have the president had some issues with him. He lost faith in him and confidence in him. And it was his right to fire him. The president has his opinions. We all know he can be extremely abrasive at times and a counterpuncher. And what you see is what you get with just wonder how current law enforcement agents of all levels feel about Donald Trump railing against dirty cops. But but in the meantime. You suggest to me that in the end what is going on with the investigation is is a prejudgment. And of course, Donald Trump repeatedly calls it a hoax. The fact is at least thirty three people three different companies have been charged already as a result of a special counsel investigation and very soon. Now, it seems we are going to get his report how nervous are you involved in Donald Trump twenty twenty and trying to persuade the American public give this guy a second. And yet the net is closing in on him. I don't think so they have not proved collusion in two years and after spending thirty five million dollars now William bars confirmation hearing is going on today and William bar has indicated that he feels that Muller should do is job without being interfered. With Muller is a professional idea respect him. So let him do his job. I feel that there will be absolutely no proof of collusion at the end of this investigation and the other of those Russians, for example, there were indicted, those that had to do with the internet research agency, the troll farm excetera, and some of the oligarchs indicted while that is somewhat outside the bounds of the original intent in appointment of the special prosecutor, but I will say one thing that Americans do understand and has been acknowledged by the Trump administration is wrong. Russia did attempt to interfere in the election. There's absolutely no question. But that doesn't mean that there was collusion or a crime committed by the campaign range, isn't it that there has not been one time where Donald Trump has directly directly criticized condemned taken on Vladimir Putin. He's called the EU Afo. He suggested according to the New York Times latest investigative reporting that he wants the United States to leave not NATO. And yet he has never directed his fire directly, Vladimir Putin. Do you ever wonder why? No. I mean, he's he's entitled to his opinion. He has to work with these world leaders. But no one's been tougher on Russia, then then President Trump. He expelled sixty Depp Lemass from Russia diplomats from the United States. He has a very tough sanctions including those put on Russia by the treasury department in the end of twenty eight. Eighteen he's certainly shown that he's been top. So I say with actions. My respect. Many of the administration policies that have hurt. Russia appear to have been driven by people. Not Donald Trump, for example, James Mattis, who has courses since quit the administration saying that his views and strategic thinking is very much not aligned with the president. So I come back to this point never ever has Donald Trump directed his personal criticism at flat, Amir Putin. And I just wonder if you ever ask yourself why? No, I think he has to get along with world leaders, especially superpowers, but I do feel that again look at his actions. Not what he says he also sanctioned Russia after they used a nerve agent on a Russian agent in Great Britain. So again, look at it look at his actions that speaks volumes. Let's just end by talking about the Republican party is very dear to you late husband of one way or another for the Republican party for many years. Your late husband was commerce. Secretary serving George H W Bush. We know George H W Bush had no time at all for Donald Trump. We know his son, George W Bush, Donald Trump wasn't qualified. Didn't have the character to be president. And we know that other senior Republicans think that people frankly like you are making a grave mistake tying your self and the party to Donald Trump. I'll just quote, one former speaker John bainer says right now there is no Republican party. There is a Trump party, and the Republican party seems to be kind of taking a nap somewhere. Stephen, you know, I went through a lot of soul-searching when I looked at the field of contenders for twenty six teen, and I had started as a volunteer with President Bush, forty one. So I had loyalty there, but I had begun to do some self examination. I was a member of the so-called establishment. And I realized an establishment candidate couldn't win. There was a anger a collective anger that was boiling beneath the surface in this country. And there were individuals that were tired of establishment and politics as usual, and I began to look at who I thought could win. And I narrowed the field down to Ted Cruz. Who was my Senator from Texas who I'd known for quite a while. And also Donald Trump I felt that those two individuals were disruptors. They were not part of politics as usual, and and I felt that to to gain power again in the Republican. In party that we needed someone new and unorthodox, and we certainly got that with President Trump to quarrel. Another again, another public servant who served a Republican President, George W Bush Elliot Cohen, he said, it is clear that under Donald Trump. The United States is diminished in its standing. He says those forces around the world that are reshaping alliances. Reconfiguring networks, they are bypassing the United States and diminishing its standing you report you so and you'll now reaping what you sowed with your support for Donald Trump. Yes. And I'm proud of it. You don't feel that this idea? He's making a great American. Great again is frankly, the greatest untruth of all. No, he is making America. Great again. Look at this accomplishments roaring economy. Remember, so many presidents are presidential candidates have lost. It's the economy stupid. He's rolled back. Hundreds of regulations job killing regulations. We had a jobs report in December three points went three hundred twenty five K jobs. We have two supreme court justices. Now that are conservatives. We have re put the embassy back into Reuss Lum, his accomplishments, I could go on and on and on and at the end of the day Americans care about feeding their families and that is putting America first. So while there are some never Trumpers and the party. I understand that. And they're very dissenting voices at the end of the day the basis sticking with him. And I predict that he will prevail and twenty twenty. Mykonos back. We'll talk to you before. Then I hope thank you very much being on hot dog. Distribution of the BBC World Service in the US.

"Farm bureau week for us, and we are highlighting lettuce and Huma. And to help us do that. We have Jan de Autry stopping by the studio and going to help mix up this gorgeous salad. Hi, jen. How are you? Happy new year. We're already for salad right about now. Country's ready for solid. You know, that Yuma provides ninety six percent of the lettuce and the country ninety six percents for the whole country, Huma, Arizona and your salary love you, right? And today you have your salad has iceberg lettuce. Does an iceberg lettuce. We grow enough for every man woman and child in the United States they can have their own head. That's right. This is why we love Arizona and our farmers edible life. Yes. Who who would have thought that? Well, when you look at the salad so lettuce gets a bad rap. Not high on the nutrients, but good hydrated, good hydrate or yes. Yeah. Take ahead to work with you and eat it. And then you're hydrated. I guess you've got enough stuff here to boost whatever's missing. So tell me how you gonna do. Hey. So if you're going to have a main dish salad better be good, right? This is a good one. This has so many amazing things in it that the iceberg lettuce is gonna love you forever. So what we have. Here is chopped up ice Berg lettuce that goes in a big bowl. And then I've got okay. This is kind of the salad equivalent of a one pot wonder because you're gonna take pan and you're going to get to two years of corn and Charlie them or slice them off the air the husks and Brown them in a dry in that dry pan. No oil or anything you want to just charge them. So they get kind of nice and Brown. Okay. K then you're going to take those that corn, and you're going to set it aside, but it's cool down. So you're putting that in the big bowl with lettuce right now. Got your ears of corn? That are nice and beautifully chart. The next thing you're going to do in that same Panjin is you're gonna cook your bacon and make it nice and crisp. So now, you've got your bacon. And that's going into the ball. With the iceberg. Save that bacon grease speaking at just what you're gonna take big jumbo shrimp. And you're gonna cook that shrimp in the bacon grease. Yes. Just do it folks. Just do it. Okay. So you've got that. That's cool down that goes in the last couple of things abuse full ripe, avocado. Ooh boy. Okay. And if you're going to chop the of wept ahead of time, just put a little lemon juice on there. So it doesn't turn around a pint of cherry or grape tomatoes that goes in. And then some cheese about a third of a Cup Pekka Reno parmesan white cheddar. Whatever cheese you love that goes in there. Oh my gosh. That's so beautiful. Now dressing the dressing. It is. So unique pastel mayo. So it's store bought past. Oh, okay. Man as you don't want mayonnaise. You can use Greek plain yogurt, and then I've got a little lemon, juice salt and pepper. You can put a shallot in there. But look at how beautiful this is. Thank you for the recipe and joy, you can find that at Brazil in the house dot com on our blog page and on Jen. One minute.
