"Who isn't really satisfying scene? Yeah, because like it is. It's so wrenching rum all the perspectives. You're you're primarily like angry with Jack? And then your your heart sick for Hurley it only if you can get there, your heart sick for Michalak. This is disgusting stuff that he's done for the purpose of saving his child, and he's like trying to express that. It's like that does not justify what you did. Man, but this is a very pathetic, an awful situation wherein the and it's just it's. It's grueling its grueling the emotional anchors. This seen by far Harold Perrineau and Hori. Garcia they really make this team. What it is which is in my opinion, this is the entire highlight of the entire. Others Kidnapping jungle storyline, which again as I mentioned the first couple scenes in the jungle. I was terribly high on, but this is a really incredible see. Do we get this moment of Michael? Finally? Literally Being Clara, there's some fantastic choreography aware we have a literal advancing of Jack Sawyer and Kate on Michael They all step towards him, almost at the same time, advancing and Jack going the most agro, since the Buna Role, just slamming Michael up against all is frustrated beyond belief finally. Finally wants him to admit to what he's done and herald paranoid again. Really threads tricky needle here because he did do objectively bad things but I think him being able to substantiate his regret and remorse for it while also doubling down on why he did. It is done so well but I love the Hurley doing first of all doing the heartbreaking mental math to figure out that Michael was the one who killed libby, and then also following it up angrily with, but if you. Have Time. Will you still have done the same thing and so? I didn't I didn't put this in the clip, but obviously this thing is going to say right. After Michael Says it's my son is that he's going back understandably so because he was manipulated so many ways, and was driven into such a mood by the actions and words of Michael, and now he's been caught out and realized that he's he's been his own puppet on a string in a manner of speaking, and he's the one was. His friend is the one responsible for him losing the closest thing he's ever had to a love of his life. Yeah, it's it's awful. It's awful. Even Matthew Fox has a great thing where like he looks pained when Michael admits it. Maybe it's because like you said he sort of has been in denial this entire time like yeah. Maybe he believes he's been compromised, but he really can't be and for Michael to admit it like it's finally hit home for him. You wanted to be wrong. Your mattress subject looks like almost sick to his stomach. I mean as the leader of a group like you said it must be tough to feel like a betrayal in your ranks happened so brutally, and so I think jack sort of takes the brunt of it as well even though I think he's going to try to emotionally substantiate than to keep going by saying I know role hurting right now, but we have a plan. Don't worry. We just need to keep our guys up. Keep the guys up. And so they're going to keep going with the plan angrily for most of them. Like everyone's sort of aching music is really intense underneath at all. Yeah, and then loved as well like the One tiffany drum. That was at hounding throughout the interrogation. It's almost like Michael's heartbeat. Elsewhere Saieed, who's been preying on the sail boat? That's a cool moment. I don't think we really can't remember if there was a moment in solitary where we saw him pray I. Don't think so, you know. And the greater but I feel like on the island. We have not seen him. No, we have. We seen them solitary when he's when he's cotton in Russo Net He's praying to himself. We've definitely seen it before I. It doesn't happen a ton so you don't see it a lot, but this is a show that is largely driven by faith. And I think saieed being somebody who holds that while also being such a logical person to. There's really no surprise. That site is constantly scoring MVP points from us because he's already the perfect embodiment of what you're supposed to be on this show. What the show is making the argument for like you can have, you can have some of common count me. The thing is lacking self forgiveness. Kind time self if there's a lesson from law there, many lessons from Las, but one of them is sort of like faith buffet, right where you can sort of pick and choose the things that you believe it as long as you're not loading up on one thing in particular, that's that's an unhealthy way to pursue a line of thinking. So they're they're. They're up the spot. We'll see how that shakes the whole their whole. They've found the whole. Charlie's going to find. Hurley, secret dynamite stash and he's like Mr Eco. Be careful. Don't WANNA end up. Like Dr, ours I was just such a of equity. Who was that I? Don't get I was not there for that. Lost loves to reference Leslie artist yet to the point where I believe actually the first previously on from of science made it faith did involve docker. Are So it again a nice little? Book NPR and Good Charlie for remembering because I think was all the way back in. Everybody hates Hugo. Hurley Show Charlie where he was keeping the dynamites. Back to very good very good. They're going to go, and they're going to set up the dynamiting the hatch this direct satisfied with Charlie's performance. It's like all right you can go. It feels like hey. You shouldn't do what you're thinking about doing, and he's like hey WLAC. Knock knock by the way. Mr RECCO. His answer to that joke is going to be. I'll tell you later I'll. Tell you right now with a bomb. Desert don't worry about it. It would take like an atom bomb to blow up at the door. This isn't going to work or at least put US possibly back into our appropriate time. Periods and Adema help do this. Go nearly blowing everybody up over the button. I don't know that this was the right way to go. And really because of this this this directly GONNA lead to his death, because he's going to be such rough shape is getting dragged off. We're bearing. It's not gonNA help arguably a led to his death here. Are saying he's like in like you. See Him the fact that he's able to stand. Over to lock to shake to make sure he's okay, didn't like Oh. Let me check to make sure all my organs have not been incinerated explosion. I was in Fresno. It's impressive. Yeah, this is an interesting thing where I guess that compress compartments or a little rolling cabinet that will sort of take us into. The flashback has been there the whole time I guess. Nobody noticed it the little wheel thing that had the dent in it from what Desmond would use to hold the blast doors open. I suppose so I just thought it was what part of the decor? Part of part of the look. It's just part of the look. Well it comes in handy at least here, because unlike the toolbox or John, locks legs does a very good job at holding up the blast doors as we see Desmond at Kelvin's instructions, purposely saying it off so that he could work on his detergent. Blast door map takes over from Richardson ski the Brown. Stain yes so yeah, that's what we find out. Well Brzezinski is up there. And thank God that Dick Brzezinski Much Michael Could transmute himself into a brown stain, so he's like the way that Michael can turn into plants resents skis like Alex Mack but instead of like mercury puddle. He turns into like a mud puddle. Yeah, I'm thinking of some sort.

"Let's Talk Dave if you have an imaginary home intern imaginary. Carter's been built up in your head the entire time. Do you have to pay insurance for that? I don't know man is is all of lost inside the eye of a giant named mccumber. These are the questions that we are forced to ask based on what Dave is trying to do to our brains. Dave directed by Jack Bender written by Edward Kids. This and Adam. Horowitz are the writers behind Dave it airs April Fifth Two thousand six and of course centers on Hugo Hurley race and his magic J. Dave non an uncommon name in the world of lost. Indeed I think is what I realized this time around. Is that her. Not only as Hurley's dad named David but also played by Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong's famous bits. Josh is none other than Dave's not here man. And so that's sort of what I it on this time. It's like I should have known the entire time with the name day. Of course Dave's not here man. He's not real. He's not even real or is he. I that there are a lot of questions about Dave. Because this is a strange episode to half like the imaginary friend episode of lost on a show where we know that ghosts are real monsters are real sideways universes are real and I'm using that refrain purposely because we're going to get into that by the end of this episode very evocative of the end and I think that we should have a pre Dave Dave chat like. I think we need to talk about Dave before we talk about Dave that makes I think we need to unite definitively make a decision about who Dave is because I think that also fundamentally changes the way you view this episode of whether you do or do not depends on what role is day playing specifically. What is the relationship between Dave Hurley? Yeah you know that famous question we're is. I think this is. Who is Dave nearly coming from Hazel Rickenbacker who is Z'S WE WANNA know? We wanted to know the answer so like they've been a lot of theories about this over the years. The cards up explanation is that Hurley has an imaginary friend who he sees as a means of coping with stress and anxiety and guilt. He feels over his body image and the PTSD involved in an accident that claimed several lives. When a porch that was built for eight people collapsed under the weight of twenty three people including Hurley in Hurley. Feels like that is on him that he is the reason why that porch collapsed that deck collapsed and Dave is just the manifestation of all of that the that Hurley has hidden behind..

"So now make no. I really don't lie. So billy like obviously like he thought about that. Whole plan like convoluted. I don't think that that's really gonNA work if he catches cheating. It's going to be a disaster. So let's just let's maybe not work on that on that Any anymore. Maybe I should just play sure. You're trying to distract him but he he's watching very closely by not buying now buying it whatsoever so I guess I find match brings us back to straight shots. Wallace will roll. His three body. Dies is all he has now now because he even as a javelin artist is an Olympic artist but he he never he never was good at sports beyond that and with the one. I and golf being a game about accuracy as billy's concern that he's not gonna be accurate enough and man he knows what it's like to not be accurate enough and he has a flashback. Cut To just a couple of weeks before everybody crashed on the island. Billy's in New Zealand He's he's dressed to the nines in in Fantasy Garb. His hair a big curly mad of hair a wig that he is wearing and he is sitting in a chair reading a script. The script is called the Lord of the rings the Fellowship of the Ring and billy is sitting next to one Elijah Wood. His Co Star in the film and Elijah is not reading the script. Billy says why aren't you? Why aren't you reading? Don't you Turkey to study up on your lions and they go lazily glances over and he smiles this chair big smile back billion like. Oh well I mean. I've got them down already. Got The when did you. What did you do that before you got here? Well I mean we've been here for for day or so and do you. Do you want how you want to read. No no no. I memorized them to memorize them to Billy. Rips up yeah. It's funny. I was just really good. I don't even need this at billy rips up the script rips up the scripted lots of little pieces long Confetti Again. I was going to do the fireworks and stuff. I read that part. Read that part that's going to happen. let's go. Let's go let's just beyond films seen a sure. Sure yeah okay. Okay Peter Jackson. The director is walking over. And say did you just rip up my script? Oh no and bill. He's like yeah. I don't need it. I got the lines. So it's all good Peter. Peter Seems Pretty upset that I have ripped up this piece of work. He's not thrilled with Billy Wallace whatsoever. He's got he's got good hate into Billy Wallace. He didn't want to cast him in the part of of Dominic Monaghan character. Mary Mary Mary Brooke Brandy Buck didn't he? He had his eye on a different actor but they took pity on. The one. Eyed Billy Wallace washed up. Child starts at all right. Well we've got a couple of child stars in here anyway. What's one more? And they gave him a shot but right now Peter Jackson at wits end with billy. And it's not going to go well for the rest of the day. We see Peter just kinda like run his fingers through his hair and his barefoot miss shorts with Puffy Code is he turns walking back over to his wife and screenwriting. Parker Fran Walsh over there and he kind of just modest your like. We're GONNA have to send Wallace home with Stuart Townsend. This is not gonNA work and bill is like no. I remembered the lines. They remember everything. See All the right now. Just we don't even have to roll the cameras. We could just start. And Billy is clearly going to just Farts his way through an improvised of a full scene. That definitely doesn't exist between Mary. And FRODO IN THE SOURCE MATERIAL ALLIES. Or what is going to look aghast at one billy? Wallace is trying to do as he's watching. This poor young man's career explode right in front of a lot. You really is the good son in this. He's just trying to be a good guy here and billy's just stab burying himself alive. Much like will happen to Poo Poo. A couple of seasons from now on lost And and so yeah I I think that You Know Peter Jackson like head shaking at the end of this bastardisation of all the work and the effort that he's putting the script and allies seem very compassionate as he's looking at you but Peter is clearly unseeded disgruntled as the the scene kind of ends and we cut back right in fact on the island. Ilyas remembering that the key to his loss of the role that would have brought him back into the public limelight as Mary. Mary Marietta Attack Brandy Bud. Mary Adopt Air. Andy is fun. The Role Barrier Doc Brandy Book Would have brought him would have catapulted him. It would have trevor. She'd him back into stardom because of the lack of accuracy he. He got fired and caused a huge scene. That I'm sure we'll get into at another time on his way out the door some stolen goods. It'd be something that would have been really wonderful to find inside his bag when he crashed on the island but he remembers all about the accuracy and channels all of the the rage his own inaccuracy into this one. Single stroke of the golf club and so having called on your flashback. And one of your secrets you do. Focus much more than you. Did that day when you realize that Elijah Wood had red wines ready and so the ball sails through the air landing softly not very far tall from that of Rodney. Sisto the pair of you with with the lone driver walk down towards the hall now getting ready to have to. Putt your way to the wind in the unsure turf. That is the golf course. Here on the island So being slightly closer at believe that Goth decor mandates that the further shot goes. I is that correct. Does anyone know idea someone who knows how to shoot some winners? Think I could say that the one who's further away from the whole goes I in this. It's it's at least Rodney can convince billy that that's what happens. I'm glad that we have a golf pro here with us today. And so bill boom having the further of the two balls he attempts your pot any hijinks going on or you just got to go straight for it. I can't I think that like I'm I'm believing in myself right now. Okay Be Maybe. This is going to happen for me. Maybe this is like maybe the the point is i. I have to play the part. I'm always playing a part right so I have to become a pro golfer in this moment. Ice Cold Cool nerves three CS. Okay your instinct is that you are always playing apart and so calling on it. You give yourself one automatic success but you can go ahead and roll your body anyway. Let's roll the three days to see how how close or how how well you're able to sink this. That is one success. One success plus one automatic success for calling on his instinct of always playing a part. That gives billy chew successes. He thinks the PUTT It's rough it Rommel's twists. It looks like it's not GonNa make it at the last second but then it bumps and an almost even the breeze blows and it eases. Its way how into the hall. We see billy smiling at Rodney if he has the club over. Europe Rodney is going to drive the ball. Far Far into the jungle say never cared much for Gulf anyway. Sort of shoots him a little wink to be like good job. Buddy wow and billy knows. He has a true friend because had the tables been turned bollywood various furious. That Rodney had beaten to the punch furious. And so I think that the scene fades out again as we see these two friends having truly just cemented. Yeah what this relation. And of course before the scene and billy with a with a really warm smile on his face oldest up horizontally at his friend. Rodney Rodney throws the goal. Actually Know Rodney takes. The Gulf Club puts it on Billy's fist and yanks it up and down like a like a like deliver to a to a slot machine and billy goes and they both go jack. And then not thinking Rodney throws the golf club in the air with the with the rest of the invisible coins and then very quickly like puts his hand over his head runs for cover right and I guess as we see the pair of them covering their head from falling golf darting out of the way the scene fades out and we go to a black screen again where we feel the subtitle one more Time Day sixteen so we fade back in. And we find billy and Rodney and standing with them is Hugo Hurley Radius Of course on Day Fifteen. Claire woke up with terrible nightmares. The stories gotten around. She said somebody tried to kidnapper but nobody really believes that nonetheless. Hurley stands with the pair of you with a pad of paper in front of him in a pen that he probably got from Boone and so he's like Yeah it's so. Hey guys I I'm just. I'm doing a little fences just trying to get everybody's names and occupations where you from that kind of stuff and billy is kind of just like itally minding him Mike. He is still pretty psyched about himself. As a golf pro. Indeed he's taken one of the golf balls and plugged it into his own face with a with a black sharpie they've drawn a little eyeball onto the onto the golf cl- onto the golf bell curve. So he's just like hanging out really happy with himself. Excellent and you look for here. It's like come on your know who I am. You don't know who I am here. Go and so he likes stares at you like shoot. I probably should wait the four four four four four man. I love my buddy. Johnny used to watch it all the time. Yeah man you want me to sign anything for you. Get off here and you want to. I mean th yeah yeah yeah the census. I'll sign that graced. That's me right there okay. This is wallace actor. Yeah so out there and Billy's looking at Rodney like nodding nodding. He's kind of trying to like wink with his golf ball. I really working And he's initialing his his place on the on the senses he's like. This is me Billy Wallace Fourth Force. He's listening at a bunch of other credits That I'm to the Olympic artist is on there and he he puts L. O. T. R. With an asterisk on there and Hurley's like Oh. I didn't see that one. I'M GONNA have to check that out when we get home. Oh sure yeah. It's going to be really popular law anyway anyway. Don't put your whole filmography on here. We only got so much paper and he kind of turns like men call friends. So who are you? He's asking you Rodney Yeah Rodney Sesto. You know just Just a small town guy from cedar rapids just happened to catch himself on a crazy play. Now where do you want me to sign? Yeah I mean sure here what did you do? What were you doing Australia? You know I was just just hanging with some friends. I happen to have a friend who was going abroad in the Peace Corps and decided to decided to help out you know. It's a charitable thing to do. There's only so much good. We could put out in the the world every day. Burly and I just want to be able to do that on the silent as well Yeah I mean you can call me Hugo Fuan it's actually it's Hurley nickname but Yeah okay okay. Great great tool. Do you know nicknames are on here? 'cause I just want to tell you I don't know if you've have. You.

"Is over but we have to go back down the hatchet philosophy. Watch podcast here. On post show recap soccer season two episode for everybody hates Hugo which is such a misleading title because everybody loves Hugo certainly everybody on down. The hatch gave him an elderly people last week. But that's neither here nor there. Hello I'm Joshua where I'm joined here by Mike Bloom. Mike Hope you're having a cluck cluck cluck day. So far I am Josh. I did what you said. I got all the GNOMES from Rob's lawn should do them now. Yeah we just got a bomb them on somebody else's lawn. Maybe I should be careful about talking about bombs considering how they were used in this episode. Yeah and considering that. Apparently there's a noble situation going on the hat. Yeah Oh my God. Where's Jared Harris when you put in you need him? Luckily dogs around. Except for Vincent to get all that was so literally that episode of Toronto. But we're not here to talk about Chernobyl. We're here to talk about lost or here to talk about the fof episode of the second season of lost of rollicking time here with everybody hates you. Were so many things happen. A little sarcastic. I had a great time watching this episode. Those superfund episodes very light is the slight episode of loss. That we're talking about today. Which may mean. We're in for a really fun. Time at the PODCAST. Yeah I will say right off the top here that you know season two so far and lost. I think we've had to really great episodes one non so great episode. This feels to me like the first okay. Sure so off season two and that's GonNa reflect much further down the line this podcast in our ratings. I think there are things I enjoyed. There are certain characters who I really did not enjoy in this episode but I feel like you know for really turning to starting to chart what law season two is had how emerged from the first three episodes which really were a pacesetter. This sort of put us on a medium path if you will yeah all right so I think that that's right. I think that you're going to find a lot of episodes that are like of this quality Throughout season two of lost frankly third season three of lost as well so something. We should be getting used to. This is the stuff that's just like kind of like further enhancing character when it's at its best and in some cases like taking a few steps back but it's fun to go through an episode like everybody hates you go much like we did with numbers talking about it from the perspective of where a character is going to wind up so this is an episode where. Hurley is going to have to make what are to him at the time. Some very important leadership decisions. How does that maybe inform some of what we know about Hurley? Later on down the line as he becomes more of a confident leader in his own right and certainly leaves the series in a position of power. So I think that'll be really fun to talk through. Of course this spoiler filled lost rewatch. Podcast just kind of spoiled a really big thing for us if you didn't already know that but if you didn't already know that kind of feel like that's on you dude. This is a podcast where we go through. Every single episode of lost in copious detail spoiler epic detail. We get through it with a synopsis with the help of some sounds and also your feedback which you can send us down the hatch post show recaps dot com. You can also hit us up on twitter at Poche recaps at Ron. Howard is me at a Mike. Bloom type is Mike and Dr who you wit is Hurley? Although I don't think that that handle is claimed yet but I do now feel comfortable saying if you have not listened to the DJ dumb expose party. That podcast is fair. Game for spoilers here today maybe go listen to that before you listen to. Everybody hates Hugo recap on down the hatch. We've got some feedback from the DJ DOM Expose Party. Are you sad that Hurley Johnny born checking out DJ DOM records record shop instead? They were perusing such shafts. Catalog Oh my God well. It's it's not impossible that it's just a deleted scene right that like they spent a lot of time with the doctor who you wit and the DJ Damn it all and we just didn't get to see it. Yeah I would imagine so because I would think that Johnny would have probably Gotten Hurley on board that who knows maybe star was the one special place in his heart for this wayward artists. Yeah maybe on the ride. Over to the hold steady at the troubadour the such a young a young thing to do the hold steady at the troubadour to her young well. Apparently we'll get into this. How this the writing team for this? Where are typical layup guys? Edward Kits. And Adam Horowitz usually penalty second to last episode of each season. Apparently the lead singer of the hold steady is like a close friend of Edward Kid says Oh cool so he decided. I'm going to bet you my friend's band in the major television. I'm writing right now. When you get the chance I mean should I ever find myself in those boots? I'll probably just slip in a Mike Bloom reference wherever I can. What's the GO-TO reference? If I'm ever in a position of storytelling power where I'm let's let's say I'm at the helm of loss to Mike. What should I would be the first thing to call out. I think that Janet should catch octopus. One episode he should call him Sir. Quitting that'll be a nickname for him or there could be a whole cold open conversation about. So what kind of super you. Yeah exactly everyone's sitting in the Dharma van asking what super they as they bide their time with the Dharma initiative to Plano or whatever's going to seek lies version of that for sure all right without further. Ado let's go forth into the jungle talking about. Everybody hates Hugo as Mike mentions. It's it's co written by. Edward Adam Horowitz. Originally airs October Twelfth. Two thousand five. Of course it centers on Hugo Hurley. It is directed by Alan Taylor which is so odd to me that Alan Taylor is the director of everybody hates Hugo. Are you aware of Alan? Taylor's work at all my absolutely not Alan Taylor a prolific director in the HBO space is the Director of fourth dark. World is the director of Terminator Genesis. I believe but is the director of many game of thrones episodes and several sopranos episodes as well but the penultimate season one. For instance of game of thrones the pen ultimate of season. Seven of game of thrones which I know is a little bit of a controversial episode but some of these big bombastic episodes of game of thrones and like these big character rich episodes of the show. Too and here he is on. Everybody hates Hugo. It's just like I mean obviously this is filmed a long time before those those episodes of television that we're talking about it's just so it's just a funny trivia note for me that the guy who killed redacted in the penultimate episode of season one of game of thrones. I don't know why I'm protecting that spoiler because it feel like it's very pervasive in the culture but I'm protecting it. Just in case fair there was a deleted scene where Charlie so mad at Hurley that he lined them up to you know a big pillory style in front of everybody and you could see the hurley birds taking off in the distance and it was just a really big moment for the show and they said you know what this is not testing. Well let's instead do this happy ending where everyone has a feast Harley style. It's the only episode of lost. He.

"All right? Well let's start with. Let's keep consistent. Here let's start with the guy that you started part one with to give one to Sawyer here I think that I. He saves the rudder which is amazing. Granted the raft does go up in flames. But he's saved their Easter and I think it was an awesome move when he you know he drew the gun. As soon as it turned out he knew what was going to happen and I think had things happen in a different way he could have helped get one over on the others ultimately unfortunately he he pays the price for it and we'll see the consequences of that in the beginning of season two but he was working for the raft for the betterment of the grew the right getting his heart was in the yes exactly and luckily the bullet did not hit as hard as well. I'll give out my first. MVP point we were singing his praises all throughout the parts to doing three. Recap how could I not point. Decided Jura he's just. He's as unbelievable in this episode. His story line is probably the weakest of of all the storylines in exodus but he is such a champ like he is such a champion. Not just the field medicine for for Charlie. But the way that he's able to win back Shannon and like really be there for her The speed with which he moves through the jungle The ability to recognize that Charlie needs a break maybe the inability to realize it shouldn't give them a break next all the heroin but he doesn't know he's a heroin addict there aren't that close And also the way that he is able to to get Aaron back from Russo. He's just fantastic. This is one of sites best episodes yet. Yeah I'll throw one his way as well. I mean he's a real superhero this episode and actually actually. I think it's a really great moment. Going full circle back to those first few episodes where again. We're like WOW SAIEED is taking action organizing people and Really Lino head starting a lot of projects on the island and that happens here too where he's able to send people people to the caves while simultaneously leading a rescue mission for Aaron and it really does bring around the question of look I think as I talked about in part one I think Jack has really come into his own as has a leader but it does make you wonder what Sei Jurong Not Anna. Lucia have done as the leader of a of our fuselage people here but a really good episode for Sii Zay. Just as a person I'll give my second of two. MVP points I will give to Hurley. He makes the plane. It's pretty miraculous. And I think the fact that he makes the plane lane means that the world is saved Like I think that the stakes involved are nothing short of that For the fact that he is involved in some of the funniest last moments in lost history. As we've enumerated here with you got some art star new And the the beautifully delivered dude that he drops I think that Hurley is more than worthy of this. MVP point here are this last. MVP point may be surprising. But I guess call it a sympathy not point. I'm going to give one to Michael because I just feel terrible that this huge project that this guy has been working. Hang on for as we pointed out over ten episodes just gets destroyed so quickly as do his chances of getting off the island right when it feels like. He's finally connecting with his son and loses his son in the process due to no fault of his own. And I'm I'M GONNA give Kudos as well for like really trying admirably to fight off the others when they come on board. I know that he's going to obviously get overpowered. Because he's outnumbered two to one by those damn twins who are not twins but I just feel terrible for Michael here to watch his entire work inflame so purely just out of feeling terrible for the poor guy. I'm GONNA throw him a point here. There is up the flare gun detracts the others. But how could he have known that. That's what was going to happen. You know and like he did. Everybody wanted him to do it and he did. It actually gives them a point for having the judgment in hindsight to to not do that. Yeah that's all right. You know. We did everything that he needed to do. Yeah exactly and I mean I don't know. Do you think that at the flare not gone up. Do you think the other still would have found him using it. They have some sort of radar and their belt. Right would find them soon. You would assume this is whatever happened happened you know like this happen. Ri L. VP's. He dies so Dr Leslie gets another. MVP even if it was a masterful exit is still dies and you got it. This is this is why the rule exists. This yeah this. LV is basically an MVP point. Yeah exactly exactly it's an L. VP. Because he's so good being. LVS You know exactly. I think we should give like the L.. Vp Memorial award to our up like the most embodying being of an MVP character. I'm really excited to put these people on the board even if it's a negative one but it's going to be the first of hopefully many times we talk about them. I'M GONNA give them minus one to the other others. I was thinking Tom Friendly initially. But it really is a group effort including Tina Wesson as well and I'm excited. You know I think the next time. We're going to majorly see them. Probably probably is the hunting party but until we really get to know them in season three. I'm happy to sort of lumped together as one single being and give them a point here I will give my my next. Lv Point to He is he is described. He is credited as Hawaiian shirt. But you know him better says that's the paper towel because it's the least threatening threatening guy ever do we. Should we like lump them in under Mr Hake since he's like an associated. Mr Peyot for WanNA forget Hawaiian shirt. I Want Hawaiian shirt to have a negative one neck. I guarantee we're going to. Oh absolutely look at this. Listen to year and be like what. The Hell is Hawaiian. Sure why did we put that down. I guarantee you. I will never forget Hawaiian shirt. Well I only they brought this guy into and to sell like Dharma brand paper towels if he was like Marvin Candle as commercial about all right. Who Do you got your? I mean look. She did a great job leading to the BRAB. Black Rock and part one and I know how conflicted she was. Obviously it was a means to an end but I mean Russo baby napped and not a great look for her book. It was a bad look for Rousseau and knocks out Claire. Like again terrible things that she did. She'll have plenty of opportunities to earn back. I would say this is more of like a mixed next reception to rousseau across the three episodes and some of these other people but I feel like unfortunately earns the negative overall yeah. I think that that seems fair isle. I've got one last one final P. of any kind to word the much like the one that took on the tree for the last time I should have given it to the tree tree. Charlie Behaves very badly and in this episode. Yeah I think he's He's he's just too frantic. Take and I think unfortunately the shot of the Virgin. Mary statue sticking out of his bag. Means that that is not the last we're going to see. Charlie's unlikable behavior sadly. I'm not sadly not so with all of that said Mike This means that there's there's some there's some things to report we've got some new do things to discuss We've got a new top three for season one Our season one. MVP's are officially officially delineated and we had a lot of tears along the way of Ood tied but our third place second place in the first place they stand apart as has their own individuals clocking in as our bronze medallist for season one of lost its Hugo Hurley race. This with a lucky number seven points I love that number and yeah I think Hurley had a late surge. I think we gave them some points in the first couple of things for the Gulf coerced I but I think really once we start getting into numbers and he becomes much more of a central character involved in the action. We really get to see him shine in second place. We'll we'll have to revise the lyrics to the born to run Lindelof that was written because she is no longer the. MVP leader. Kate AUSTEN AW to end in second place. You is born to run. But she couldn't make it across the finish line. Jura is our MVP of season one nine points with an MVP point for me in an MVP point from you this week. That pushes I it across the finish line and I think with such a strong showing in the finale Allie. Hard to hard to be mad at that but obviously a difficult day for all the Kate stands out there after. Kate had such a strong showing all season. Long second-placed places nothing to bat an eye but to Gawk at. Yeah man and I feel so bad about this. 'cause like Kate as we talked to the reason why she was a leader in the clubhouse for so so long because she's just like a super reliable character but I think unfortunately you anything one way or the other really in the finale to move the needle. She does Brian requires requires her to like get bumped down but does she have like a moment. Believe me if it existed I would've I would've worked really hard. No but I think ultimately really what did her in here is the fact that those two other kate focused episodes besides Boola Rossa as we talked about last week or just not good good for the character of Kate especially on island. She's caught in a bunch of lies that she's just not necessarily good at for some reason. I think that the doctor points here. It Sad. It feels like a season of survivor where you see some unlike crush it for so long. But then somebody's able to slip into the end game and earned the jury vote it just purely by their own different merits but what we still have. Five more seasons five more seasons worth of content for Kate to hopefully a continuing pressing us or Hurley early or maybe even other characters will will make their way to the Pantheon. I'm I'm so stunned to see the placement change so quickly as this episode but that makes it even more exciting for more placement. Changes.

"Genius. I better that than the burgling feeling a lawn there early bird one of those mysteries that had I never expected to get any resolution to but I know that in the in the new man in charge we will get an answer to that and I don't remember it and so don't spoil it for me. I want to remember it when we get. I'm trying to remember it either but probably also to not get it wrong. I will remain mum on this to dark territory genius. I believe he is not talking about under siege two to but that is the end of part two of exodus according to like. If you're watching this on Amazon or really if you think you're watching this in any form these these days yeah I think the only exception is the. DVD's have it all as one part one and part two which is parts to probably the the best way to go because the the the thing that you can say for sure about exodus part one is it still feels like a third of a longer episode. Yeah it feels like a stand right it has it has a mesmerizing ending whereas the ending part two is who ever call this place dark territory genius and where we start. Is We start like right. Right away from there Like the just continues. Because I believe in the airing of the episode this was not a commercial break. I think that now went went forward. Yeah because commercial break. We'll hit when the monster hits locks -actly exactly so here has we continue We see a wisp of smoke milk in the jungle. Oh the scene. That launched a thousand summer screen shots. Josh of what the heck is the monster. What are those those little smokey wisps? I can't remember. This is something that I've said on down the hatch or if this is something that we talked about with on crazy hank. TV when we talked about exodus with Jack but this was I was I was getting a friend a different friend. I was indoctrinating another friend into the loss. And this is their first episode food and the smoke monster like whisper around and he just like. Check back in with me after watching nanotechnology. That's the that's the secret to lost and I was like. Oh my God. Everyone thought this was like Nanu bites or some sort of thing but it was crazy. The wisp of smoke the smoke monster and the fact that it's here on our television. And we're seeing the smoke monster. If we're going by the rules of the writer room that had been stated right then. There must have been feeling that we've got a good answer for what this thing is. At this point we can explain why this monster is made of smoke. Yeah exactly well. We hadn't seen anything before this. We'd only seen the trees trees rise up around which we get here too. We see that whisper smoke jacking K.. Like yeah I saw it too and then the trees come up. So the monsters bringing his trademark stuff but even when I guess the most screen shot park I think is when the monster grabs a lot because you definitely see a smoky. Wrap around his leg and I think this is where the smoke monster name is officially coined. Sure absolutely and it's awesome. The ground starts blowing up. We gotta get Outta here now Everyone and something that I took only this time to know backpack. Yes exactly Ju. I know it's a big twist that'll be real later on that. Oh No Jackson and put the dynamite in his back. He put Ann cates. But if you see as soon as they start running jack takes off his bag and puts it down as locked because he knows the dynamites nights in Iraq. Good good really good writing Jackson back a really good really good direct a- lock drops his backpack but said of instead of booking it is is the God closer towards the monsters Where is it where is this guy? Where's my old friend Mr Mick Monster Ed instead it explodes right next to him and we get that walkabout angle right that that you know we're on high and we're looking down at Johnny lock on the ground But back then when he was what he saw like you can read read that expression on his face is kind of like wonder back then. No I definitely some fear there but wonder this is straight fear. There's no there's no wonder here at. Aw It's deep deep fear and he's going to get up he's going to try and run away and eventually the monsters GonNa grab him and drag him and you hear the mechanical sounding Chord And it pulls him into this tunnel and Jack is GonNa race off after him and he's going to grab him And one of the reasons. It's not too late to to book your tickets. It's now for the Lost Con- in Twenty Twenty who Hawaii. which is this year at the time? You're listening crazy. I can't wait On the cost stores which are the which are the loss tours that you can take in in Hawaii. There's a great photo where they take you to that exact spot where Jack is holding onto lock and if you're with the second person they can frame it so it looks like you're trying to keep them from getting sucked into the the monster pits. All I love that. It's leaning Tower of Pisa Guide Law. I gotTA try nine. Find that picture but Fox and I have one of those. It's pretty funny. It's it's it's such a great reversal from white rabbit to write one. One of them is dangling the other person's since grabbing onto them and I. I love the role reversal here. Even though lock in this case even when he's hanging is like no let me go. I'm good I I'm fine. I'll be good with the jags like you. Who are certified insane right now? Kate blow up the dam and go get my backpack. What about might know? It's in my backpack. I did a SWITCHEROO. I know I'm an asshole you can. It'd be later she goes she gets the thing and like. Yeah lock is insisting. I'll be all right. I'll be fine. Don't worry But they dropped the bomb and they they. He's smoke out the smoke monster. The smoke monster runs away. And this is the first but not the last time that Kate jacker going to collaborate to use a weapon against just The smoke monster so I appreciate that. This has some semi with the series. Finale just probably be the most bombastic quite literal way. They take him down. But it'll be more epic once they do it again when they when they do it again. That'll be the literal take down. Yeah I mean that's that's let's not literally he's he's dead is dead smoke watchers done. It's going to be a wild time here in down the hatch and the year twenty forty nine when we reached that yeah. We'll be half robot by my Mike. How bad robot half bad robot? Half good robot though that means which is great out on the road Michael Sees the guide that Sun written for Jin's man. I wish she made one for me. Just funny they have this cute moment right. Where they're they're trading words that they can say Jin could say starboard? Aft Port CEO L.. Eat that that's so great and they've come a long way and to solidify how far they've come Jin takes the watch and puts it and Michael's hand and says this is yours. This is you you you you he can say you as well and it's not just like this for you but it's also like I feel like in saying you you he's like saying thank you. Thank you for helping me get out if your thank you for giving me a chance to save son. Thank you for giving me a chance to save myself. Thank you for giving me a chance and Michael's very touched by as well. It's a shame that everything's gotta go the way that it's ultimately going to go for for Michael so that like you can't always feel great about this stuff necessarily but these days if the Michael Engine Dynamic I do really really really truly enjoy. Yeah these are the salad days. And it's also not great the MICHAELS GONNA end up selling that watch once he gets off the island but yeah I really like it as a symbol for Japan as well. Because let's remember that you know. We talked about this back during house. House of the rising sun theorize at one of the reasons why he was so fixated on the watch and the first place was because of what what. Mr Paper Towel told Jim That's the paper towel exactly but basically saying like hey you deliver this watch you are not free pick is watching you at all times. I think this is Jin finally severing ties and doesn't know what he's doing in this moment he's making the choice to say. No screw that I am really. It's all about side and I at this point is doing away with any obligations I have in my life Here's a watch. I'm giving it to you. I quit I quit. I quit Mr Paik. Yeah so he's he's quitting what a wonder to behold Back at the caves sons. Made some some tea for Claire at I was like Nah. I'm good and then like I imagined. She has split second where she's like. What am I saying? I'm being offered hot tea on the island. I should probably after. That's that's a miracle on it so maybe any sons electromagnetic power. She's a pyrotechnic. You do not say not out here. son says she likes the name Aaron but doesn't know what it means and I guess Claire Does Not know either. And this is really just setting up the lengths that Charlie is gonna go to Aaron back for Claire. Son Says. Don't worry I'm positive. Eric Charlie will come back. He made a promise. He's not gonNA fall for any stupid traps that are made with blogs wrapped up in blankets. Yeah cut immediately to Charlie falling for a trap APP with a log wrapped up in a blanket. He grabs the log. That's wrapped up in a blanket and a bunch of rocks fall in the bloody rock. God is dropped by some bloody rocks. I mean it could have been a lot worse. It could have been the bundle of spiky sticks from numbers. I don't know if they'd have gun powder in the world to fix suppose not but at the same time it's like man. This is supposed to be your thing. You're supposed to be in control of this stuff. But I guess maybe that's why like all he gets is the bloody gash over his I. That's true it could harm. I'm a lot more of this is just leave him with a warning. Ira I will always remember this scene. Because its CY in macgyver. I think him being the the. The loss McGowan. Yeah that was the idea in the writer's from two I believe with where Charlie insists. He has to go forward. You'RE GONNA have to fix it. CITES is I'm not a doctor. YOU'RE A soldier. What do people do when they're injured? I oh I don't know if people do this when they're injured in battle. Josh but cited comes up with the solution to take apart a bullet and use gunpowder to close the wound as later in the jungle. Another group of people are using gunpowder to open a wound. Yeah Yeah for sure. But it's it's own my God pouring it on him in that whole wide. This is not gonna be pleasant than the cut commercial with the wide shot of Charlie asks screaming Sidra such a bad ass man. I Love Charley being like this is because I hit you is it is really the whole thing is really really funny. All right speaking of very funny the Hurley Montage So we're going to get in the early portion of the flashback of this episode. And we're GONNA see the Odyssey Odyssey of one Hugo Hurley. Reyes as he is desperately trying to make it to his flight. He's gotTa get home home in time. Jack had to get home for a funeral. Hurley's gotta get home for a birthday. Carbon raised his birthday is coming up either today or tomorrow early. Says I really don't have the time. Travel works listen for someone who recently went to Fiji with Josh. A few months ago I can tell you that Israel the time change especially when you try to tell the people back in the state. It's weird it's definitely strange so he's all discombobulated for that We got to listen to this because it is so visually driven that I I. I don't know if it'll play quite as well Just an audio but There's a lot there's there's so much physical comedy. We'll describe it when we get on the other side of the sound. I think we should just listen to it first. I because We gave G Aquino the the final word with the wrath launch. Let's give him the first word with Hurley Montage. Because I think that this is some of g Aquino's finders work Certainly the episode episode which is saying a lot but also the series. Let's listen in San number nine. I need my car. Twenty minutes a chemist. That's my point my mom's birthday.

"This is from Sarah not stripes. This is talking about boone. That he's so expendable to the person he chose to guide him in his pursuit of purpose than it should not be a director for how we treat boone as a character despite his early exit he shouldn't be treated as expendable to audience. Boone is not a sacrifice the island demanded demanded as lock infuriatingly puts it but a human being with too much story left untold. Poor one tiny airplane cocktail out for Boone Carlyle. Oh he will be missed amen. I think that there was more story that could have been told as far as like it could have done more of the trippie like smoke. Monster takes on Boone's likeness weakness thing. That could I think the on I would say that too much story left until I would agree for on islands because I think they're still like some interesting power dynamic stuff that boom can be involved in especially Ashley if he becomes more subservient under lock like once locked becomes more disgruntled with Jack. How does boone get involved in that? But yeah I I think that him dying here is totally fine and I also would have been fine if he kept living but I also probably would have meant some other events would need to be changed in order to make sure that it's not not oh boo and your miraculously alive. After you fell in air brain from a hangar. Right right a couple more things before we wrap. We're a little late to this. Just put down. CERVO has updated dude count we missed it for numbers and what a number indeed thirteen unlucky dudes in numbers and one dude each and days mocking and do no harm which takes us currently to a total of fifty nine dudes from Hugo Hurley. Reyes also of course a shout out to Jim fellas music analysis here for do no harm Mike. Any reports from down the hatch of Jim Fells Music. Yeah there's a really fun one cup one here so I wouldn't. Claire starts going through her labor pain. We hear the Psychic Moti from Richard. Don't call me Ray. Molin Malkin when he was I talking about L.. How you know? Make sure you raise this baby and nobody else raises him the flashbacks. I don't know if you realize this josh features no soundtrack from G Aquino whatsoever over. And that's the first and last time that will ever happen. Well saving it offered. Yeah we'll also believes that. Maybe this means maybe this is because we don't don't exactly know what's going on through Jack. Mind the entire time until he delivers those vows. Maybe that's supposed to represent US getting blocked out from things Mister Robot Sil- but one one thing that I really loved is there is a boon's death motif. Obviously it features this one plunked Herp note that almost represents at ekg where it steadily is plucking an gradually slows. Down as boone begins to lose his life and when boone comes back in season three briefly to you know talk to lock that theme is going to come back but that harp note is not their meeting that that heartbeat is permanently gone. It's an. It's an awesome awesome analysis from Jim. That really just deepens immensely my appreciation for what keynote Keno Does my God. This game show Mike Show. This show is so good ed is it really is all right. Well let's let's get into the very difficult job here this week signing out our twenty three points joints section and stuff. It's tough this week Mike. You've got three. MVP points to give. I've got to I've got three L.. VP's you've got to And I think we already I we we stated who's getting our MVP points already throughout the podcast. I'm just GONNA I'm just GonNa stay them out if that's well. Let's just go through the list. So so we I think this is kind of like a combined effort at this point. I think that will post an honor of the islanders. We put our heads together and worked for one common goal. Where we'RE GONNA get? We're working together on this one Jack. Kate son Claire Boone of you are getting. MVP points this week and if we had the space like we'd give one to Jin. Give Charlie Chris. You know for L Shepherd Christian. Could've yeah like people earned their keep this week even like Saieed saieed and Shannon vulnerable with each other at this week like everybody grew everybody really rose to the occasion. But I think if you only got five to give out Jack for everything that he literally gives to the situation from his blood to his full bore commitment Boo Kate for having a arise vacation and stay with Claire and bring a life into this world nineties a son for doing everything that she does Claire for bringing being that life into this world and boon for dying so gracefully. You know it's just amazing and just for the people who are who are scorekeeping. We're keeping how have this comes out. That Jackson and Boone those points Come from Mike. Indicate and Claire Points. Come from me. But it is a group effort And our co-signing as well all right I I can't I can't do it man. I can't I can't I can't give Boone Huynh Nell. VP point. And I think like what what this is going to come down to. Is this because like my default is I'm Gonna I'm GonNa have to give. UNLV eighty point if you die in the episode and there's no one better to give an MVP point too. I think that you just get one by default but I thought that we'd have to deal with this moment when we got to Charlie Charlie and we're dealing with it so much earlier than I expected I can't give Boone and not p point here. He died a hero. He died here. He tried to save everybody. He stayed in that plane against all better judgment telling him otherwise because he thought he had a shot at can calling out for help and talking to somebody and radioing somebody. And maybe just maybe saving everybody's life and he couldn't do it so I can't give I can't give I can't give Boonen. Lv Brian. I I think that you know so I'm happy you did this. Because I think that maybe we should qualify a bit. The rules that you set up where it's not just someone dying. I think it also needs to be incorporated in how someone dies. You know like if they die for a specific reason especially if they're a main character. Things can't do it can't you. Now that being said Charlie's going to sacrifice himself in the looking glass station with the with the hope that by drowning Desmond's vision of Clare. Getting off the island. Be a helicopter will come true and that doesn't come true so Charlie dies for nothing so charlie may still get another little boy so that we will. We will cross that bridge when that appraisal all fall apart so with that said I'll tell you who my three. VP's are and then you can go with your to Mike Mark Silverman. Then you had one job Sir and that was to not get drunk and get caught getting drunk during your speech. So you've failed so you're getting Scott Burqas tear into LP's Marco Shepherd where were you. Where were you know? We're so margo gets docked as well in her doctor family and then my last. Lv goes to somebody who doesn't make an appearance in this episode. But it's like the one series regular on lost who botched it. You're screwed up. It's not that it's not his fault. That boone fell from the plane but he blythe about it and he ducked out of there and caused all kinds of problems in awkwardness. Terrible things. So I'm gonNA give locking VP. I'm going to double down in that. I'm giving double. Lv Points Salak to. I'm giving both of my. Lv points to him like we said last episode. I don't think it's necessarily locks fault. That Boon for example off goes back for the radio when lock saying get out of there immediately but I think locks lies set into motion events that caused so much trauma for so many characters and so much distrust simultaneously that I think he needs to be. I don't want to say commend commemorated Berated for at least like given recognition for doing that. Because I mean this is a this is a real tone changing moment for this group of people and lock is a main contributor that because had he said what happened in that moment who knows how the treatment could have gone and who knows. Well what would have happened to Boone's life from there. Yeah I think that's fair. I think that lock in an episode where it's hard to sign out the points lock is the catalyst of a lot of like the trauma.

"Very weird. Unless it means. Anthony Cooper owned the freighter. He Whitmore were in cahoots. What if they're the same person thin hurts so they're in bed they're getting ready It's too late to change your mind. John Locke because they already shaved his back I don't know I don't think they'd have to shave my back in this type of surgery. Yeah I was going to say and I think lock it. I'm remember the number times. We saw him shirtless. He doesn't seem like a very hairy man in general though again he had a lot of hair on his head maybe had much more than his. He lost all everywhere so Cooper's very thankful so thankful for you John. You're the best in John's guy. Meant to be and Cooper says see on the other sides on why About that this this is be the final time we see him in this episode. Yeah and it's so I love it though that like. That's a promise. Bureau pays off in the long run as well. Where he'll you'll see cooper a couple more times but the next time they'll really encounter one? Another is on the island when Cooper thinks that they're in hell so from that perspective active. He really does think that he's seeing on the other side. Yeah all right Jackson Doda Sawyer has another great line. If you're looking for a stool sample you could forget. Add it to Hurley for that one. Yeah surprised he didn't give him like a more of an East Shit joke. But I think that it works but Jack says you've got hyper rope so I hope yes sawyer. I loved it. Maybe a little bit of Jack Deputy and Dick if not outright saying in your farsighted him making him think for legitimate couple seconds that he has some sort of like maybe terminal disease called Piper. Hyper obea that's a AH one. Isn't that your fire sainted farsighted Ease glasses it could later in life when you add strain to the is like with reading so I know that this was this was the ret con for why Sawyer missed the marshalls heart. I don't know I don't know if it was a ret con. I wonder how much this was in the process but it certainly does explain at least why he was able to shoot the polar bear from a good number of feet away but was unable to shoot the Marshall basically point blank. Yeah but but Jack is saying that it develops late in life when you add. Strange the is like when you're reading and Sawyer is been veraciously Ashley reading here on the island. Was He racially reading by the time that he shot the Marshall. Was it like the way that lock got his his legs. Eggs restored the smoke monster is like I'm GonNa Humble Sawyer by making him need glasses. Could you imagine like the Walkabout Sawyer Waking Up and like gets blurry close it's blurred else faraway looks good idea. Good idea really really fun is. He's trying all these glasses on little macabre as well because you imagine they belong to dead people but for sure. It's it's a fun little like hi-sci by Saieed title Cameo as C. Soldiers Together. It's amazing I don't WanNa Yada Yada this at all because it is only seen. If the episode he's making these glasses ask there's a glasses forging montage that occurs here and it is it is to borrow a phrase from from survivor Cambodia. Imboden this is survivor macgyver. Right like this is. This is saieed amazing a fact that has actually a similar length of hair as well he could totally holy rock. The man this lost twenty one thousand nine hundred eighty two thousand four like forget it. He already had community beasts. I each raw and that's just putting these glasses together and Shannon Sierra Dot Thomas yes absolutely one hundred percent barrel racer. He's he's putting this stuff together in the music underneath it. It's wonderful site is wonderful in this moment. And you know who else is absolutely wonderful in this moment hurley. Because Sawyer gets the glasses he puts the mind He's reading the paper. That says better worse Har Har Very funny and then Hurley early walks by and sees Sawyer. Who's got like The this pair of glasses that's like part like like wide black lens like weezer glasses and the other part is like my late aunt. Clair's glasses Yeah basically like if you've ever seen anyone decorate half apple themselves vertically as like a man half of them as a woman you're flipping between the that's essentially what sawyers wearing. Yeah he's like to face. Oh my goodness if it only had a coin going to flip or more accurately according to Hurley did. Looks like someone steamrolled Harry Potter off. Mike I cannot stop laugh at that anytime I watch that scene. It's just like it's boom headshot right like with one line Hurley just assassinate Sawyer in this episode or is excellent. And it is. It's so fun to see Sawyer lose at the hands of a joke at the hands of an insult So Hurley already riding high from from the Battery Brigade You know it's so good. Questionable taste in music obviously Asli with her Hugo Hurley. Reyes got tricked by Anthony. Cooper's apparent number one hit when it comes to Rockin Zinger like that Karolyi just takes sawyer straight to Chinatown. It's yes and I think unfortunately sawyers perceived bad ass persona has unfortunately been steamrolled as well now that he needs to wear these glasses says but at the end of the day it helps but your involvement with early actually begs the question. Do we think this was part of the numbers curse that Hurley slayer happened to be around Hurley early and all of a sudden he started becoming. Yeah it's definitely her always fault. Blame it on Hurley for sure. Yeah but that's the lightest part of the episode and and unfortunately it's about to end. Yeah now it's about to get real dark moving forward so we go back to the beechcraft. Boone goes up like these berry tall vines to get there is obviously an area. We're going to visit a lot of along the way. This is a scene and a night. We are going to visit many many many many seen in a night that we're gonNA visit many many any times it's just A. It's just a location that we're going to keep coming back to because the parole station is right at their feet. They have no idea at this time But we'll find that out. Next seas is in Nikki and Paulo will be here So we'll we'll be. We'll be dropping in on on this spot for a little while and Boone's going to be dropping right on it. In short order. He gets on the plane he finds some maps. The plane is starting to shift Boone persists he finds. I think jammies corpse on the on the plane. 'cause I'm pretty sure that when all this happened like Jemmy was dead because he got shot and then the guy hopped in the plane and kicked echo off so it it would make sense that this guy parachuted out and landed in the tree and yet he was left on the plane. Already dead it. Do you think I have to Ward Yemi. Lv Point this episode because as we see his dead body. But if I did that then I'd have to award it to the the other Gordon and I don't think I can. I don't think that I think you'll have to forgive me if I don't now let's introduce echo first before we start giving his family and close confidants Elvis some some unseen characters in this episode. Maybe maybe scoring points in both directions in this episode to spoil my takes Going to be shutting boone because the plane is like all wobbly. He's like freaking out because everything. Okay what do you see. Yeah he does try to get up. And you know while Boone Sorta like slip sliding around so it does appear that again. He has concerned for him. Yeah but what's what's the what's the cost. Benefit analysis like what's the balance here for lock in terms of his genuine concern for boone and his frustration over the fact that he's not there that he can. He can't see the thing that he can't micromanage boone from on the ground so then everything goes down Literally and we'll just listen into that the report. Here's your sign.

"Top-five Hurley seed in my. Wow there's so many there's no Judas it has like a really liked this. Please rank it immediately against all these other moments from an a one hundred plus episodes show. But that's that's the strength of the show is that there are so many scenes it feel like top by pearly scenes at the very least you know. There's just so quick good man. Yeah I love it because I love it because this is a different hurley. Even though they've reached the end of the wire a while ago Hurley such a great a great range different versions of Peruvian. That's yeah he's at the end of his rope right now now and I love the first part of the monologue is is maybe one of my favorite parts besides just the very relieved and very exhausted. Thank you Just because he is sort of lamb shading what what the audience and the other castaways just early right along with it. Because I'm just along for the ride. Good old fun time Hurley. Like he's regarded as such a come with guy You're coming with Hurley. You're probably leaving with Hurley as well when you go into the club. Because he knew serve like is a reliable assistant to everything to the point. Where even when he wants to a. and the aforementioned solitary when he wants to start the Gulf course? Everyone's like Oh. I don't know how I feel about this. It's very clear that people like him but I don't know if they necessarily regard him as somebody who they would listen to his opinions and I cannot imagine how much that must frustrate him and I think it brings a brand new dimension to this character were yes. He's Super Jocular and has really funny responses. This is but in terms of the power dynamic of the group there is sort of a component that we haven't really acknowledged which is the fact that Hurley is not taken seriously. And that could be a good thing where it's like okay we'll turn to Hurley. You know he'll make sure it's a good time but at the end of the day. If you WanNa talk about something serious people won't entertain the conversation right right right right right man. It's just so good. It's just so good. Though the whole good old fun time Hurley like the frustration of like always like having having to live up to that exactly I I feel that so I mean I project the very like big happy personality Audi myself and I'm so very open about it like I I deal with my shit and so it can be like. I often feel like a crazy person. And like when when that's like when that's that's challenged to like the way that Charlie does earlier in the episode and why that's triggering and painful for Hurley. Like I feel that so deeply but I really feel that idea of like you expect so much out of me to be your clown to just like have to be like the joke guy. The whole waste ruined like no. I'm hurting right now and I need to solve that. Yeah I need to. I need to. I need to find some of that paste. That lock put on Boone's head and heal that wound right now and that version of that for me is finding out what reckon numbers are. And I'm not just going to be telling jokes right now. I'm mad and I'm upset and things have happened and they need to be accounted for and I just I love I love that and Hurley and I loved it. The writing allows him. He's moments not just in this episode throughout lost that Hurley is the funniest character in so many ways but but he's also a serious dramatic character to. He's not just the butt of joke. I don't love like all the fat shaming shit that goes on with Hurley throughout lost and in this episode road and I think that it often is reflective of the characters who are doing that but sometimes it just feels like lazy and it's just they're just because this is an easy target and certainly. That's that's not something that I love as as somebody who identifies with Hurley and in that way and it's just it's upsetting but like I love that. He's not who you traditionally think. Think of as a leading man but they treat them like one in a lot of these moments in this. The scene with him and Rousseau is a leading man moment in in this really powerful way in this leading man episode. That is both like He's both comic relief and leading man. He's He's both the funny guy and the straight guy in in in equal measure Azur in this episode and it's a real testament to to hori Garcia abilities as an actor that he does have that range and a- ah much as we talk about like Josh Holloway. Somebody who is underrated as an actor on this show. I don't think that I can say enough for like really for so many of these main characters but aurorae Garcia is such a talented guy such a talented guy and it all comes across so well in this scene and when he just everything that he says you're Russo even though what he's talking about is is different and the stakes involved. They're very different but for me like a big bolted. Same is like what stamp stamp on. That scene is like I. I really really feel what he's talking about and it just. It's so cathartic to to watch that moment. What I find really interesting as well? Is that the character who he finally lets. Loose on is another character. who sort of has this odd perception? Bahamas like stigma of your the crazy per exactly of like. Oh you're the crazy person in the jungle even when saieed all you need knows her story. And what's Ra makes her who she is is still comes. Back to camp recounts the tale and everyone's calling her the crazy French check and so I guess it is like I wouldn't in call him an outsider brackets offbeat acknowledging another which begs the question. Josh from Rousseau's perspective why do you think she ultimately puts down the gun and entertains the conversation with early. I think she I think she. Here's what I heard. You know like I think that she's she's been living this existence where she doesn't have people who are telling her she's crazy. She has circumstances that are telling her that you might be crazy. Or you're in danger like like one or the other or maybe even a bit boat and I think that like what she's getting in Hurley is like she's looking into a mirror you know so for the first time in a long time like she seeing somebody who is saying things that aren't in different words and in a different language maybe than the one that she I uses but we know that Rousseau speaks many languages and so she speaks Hurley or at least you can understand Hurley and what he's saying is like yeah. Yeah yeah no I hear that okay. Let's talk like I think like and if there is that superpower that the writers were still trying to harness about Hurley of He. Can he can make you you give him anything you want him to give you then. There are still traces of that in like he can make you come to him. You know what I mean like you meet him at his level in a moment like this. I also wonder how much her last conversation went. Saieed has opened her up to exploring things with just new people in general because remember you know site. It was one of the first people to visit her in quite some time and obviously it ends with him escaping her capture. But I feel like you know. She doesn't shoot him there because he acknowledges just sort of the pain that she's been through. Maybe she sort of has this mentality of like okay. Maybe I do need to open myself up more people who come my way now granted. She did a booby booby-trap her old place to blow up if anyone would encounter it but I mean Hurley's not in other seems like can vouch for him somewhat and she she sees some sort of weird kinship and I wonder if this is sort of like an intermediary step between the first encounter with where she's a recluse and then exodus part one where she is going to go to the camp camp and tell people about the smoke right right Rousseau's a great character to she really is i. I love the DRIPS and drabs. We've got get in this first season as well we talked about how such a big deal. Her appearance was in solitary. And you would think on paper. Oh yeah let me just going to appear in a handful of other episodes but not no no no. They mentioned a few times but this is her first appearance in nine episodes and a month plus a two months plus of loss in real time which is crazy. Yeah Yeah it's been. It's been a minute since we've seen her and it's GonNa be a minute until we see her again. Let's go. Let's go back to site and Jack. They're not pouring milk on the compound but the fire is gone all the same Sites got the burned up. Picture of Nadia Tuck it away and then Hurley shows up Charlie. Charlie shows up first and he's like I don't know where Hurley is right here. I've got batteries. I talked to the French chick she says. Hey Ya and that's just and that's him going back to like fun time Hurley right just a bit. He's not exactly a jolly about it but like he's throwing a little bit of a snide remarks and they're to be like hey. I know everything's fine. Went to get batteries when really. I think that was an opportunity attorney for him to really opened himself up and I wonder how much conversation also led to him deciding to reveal to Charlie. I know he was going to do it in the jungle but when he finally decides to sit him down and open up about himself. Yeah I I don't even know that I read it as fun time Hurley. Necessarily I feel it. It's like early. Relieved Hurley what he was looking for. He didn't get everything he was looking war but he got some of it he at least got like empathy from somebody for the first time telling him. He's not insane for believing that the numbers are cursed. And so he's he's lighter when he comes back even though he's got the battery in his backpack now he gives it to you know to site But he he's come back from this situation he's come back from this journey he he went out there to to find something he found something even if it wasn't everything that he wanted and now he's just going back he's on his way back to fund time Hurley. But this isn't quite fun. Time mm-hmm Hurley relieved early and it's it's funny because of just like you know or he has like very funny delivery and just like she says hey is like a fun little aside side but what it is really to me like you guys were so worried about me this whole time and I did exactly what I set out to do. I'm coming back with a battery. She says hey by the way you know it's it's just like stop underestimating me. I'm Hugo Hurley. Reyes I'm worth one hundred and fifty-six billion dollars back home and worth a lot more within within that in my life and it's great. It's just totally great moment. Yeah I also love the other castaways reactions to at least saieed is scowling. 'cause he's like. Why did I have to do this? But Jack almost has that like you son of a Bitch Smile Jack. Jack Loves Hurley. Before he's a reliable number two for Jack Somebody does he can. He can find him about Kate and he's happy. That secret hasn't been revealed yet like he feels like Hurley is a reliable person to go to. Except maybe when Boone's on his deathbed sped us is her like. It's a little bit woozy from that. I think we give Jack a lot of Shit on down the hatch and much of it deserve some of it. Not But one of the things that I love about Jack and Hurley as a one of my favorite onscreen Duos of lost. I love the Jack Sees Him. You know oh he C- he sees Hurley for who he is and there are times where he treats Hurley maybe more delicately than he needs to but a lot of times where he just treats early like an adult and just like treats him as an equal completely equal playing field. And it's not pandering. It's because I think he's he in the way that lock says he sees value in people like like in sometimes yes.

"After survivor south pacific and i thank season with a couple of makhtur types along the way keith. Whatever his last name is. Here's the here's the here's uh-huh yeah. The keith tollefson of survivor lost here comes boone carlyle hopping in to the beach tribe first. I main character to die on lost. Will he be the first one out of survivor lost. I think the tension as we are entering the first first few days of the simulation okay all right. Let's let's meet everybody you wanna. Just take us through yeah. Let's do it okay so we've got coming off after after boone. We've got claire. Littleton claire who as the season has begun is nine months pregnant. She has not yet given birth so i believe we have what what soft story for the we have. Eighteen players officially on the cast. Does claire have an advantage in that. She is secretly really harboring. The nineteenth cast member of survivor lost and if born at the right time will aaron be eligible to cast a vote <hes> alongside claire so she may have have a baked in alliance partner from various start first pregnant survivor contestant congratulations flare yeah that we that we that we know of if she he gets today thirty nine that's going to be a hell of an argument in front of the jury may want to get rid of her early. Evacuate goes into labor at final tribal council. Mike who else is here of course we cannot have a survivor loss podcast without our audience analog fan favourite hugo hurley hurley reyes is here it remains to be seen if everybody loves hugo or everybody hates hugo when it comes to these group of people but if you're looking for someone who's going to be the really fun person in confessionals specials and someone who's gonna make for really fun time on the beach. Maybe get some island golf going. It's gotta be harley. He has a chance for some cochran upside here in the he added as we're playing this. This is going to be mapped to survivor south pacific so <hes> that that basically steal follows the events of different survivor seasons and uses that season's twists in format so a lot of south pacific analogue to hurley's a very unlucky guy by nature so if he finds himself off in iraq dry wouldn't be surprised betray his alliance because he he doesn't like his it's in iraq. Let's blow through the rest of the cast so we can get into the game here. Who who else is here. My one of my personal favorites jin kwon one half of jin and sun. Someone say misunderstood man ends up being a loving husband as a father remains to be seen <hes>. Let's talk about john locke. Of course he's going to be our defacto survival arrival survival expert out here so we'll see if that puts him in a leadership position as we know he can be a bit contentious and leaderships positions could be for survivor rob versus john's yeah. He got his last name though so we'll see purple given that moniker as well. I'm surprised to see lock on the beach tribe. You think of him moore's shelter person in terms of his <hes> survivors strategy. We also have of course kate austen. The person who as we talked about on down the hatch was supposed to be the o. G. leader on loss of course due to matthew fox's appearance on the show she so became a very important character in her own right. We'll see if she plays like a criminal or perhaps like a <hes>. Maybe a different type of person copper cop the first sign then you come back and play like criminal your second time out. I think that's the move of course we have. The michael dawson always lovable michael unlike jim caring father someone who he but he's separated from his son so it will be interesting interesting to see exactly how we interact. Has someone like gin who had very interesting misunderstandings with at first. We'll see those carryover of course a staple of the first season. I didn't necessarily make the main cast is rose who helped whole held jack's hand as they made their way through the turbulence that eventually beached the ocean oceanic flight eight fifteen..

"Now. I don't know if this was purposeful on behalf of the writers to linked so much a symbolism through the show with this connection right away but i started started very interesting how important is our and at least in this case of jack how the tents of the eye of horus are very much linked to what he exudes especially in this opening scene yeah i. I love the way that it opens. I also love just retroactively that jack is waking up like and he doesn't know it yet. He's going to be such a skeptic in such a cynic for so long but if he went the other way and walk like ten or fifteen minutes north instead of towards the beach he would find the light of the island. He's basically right there. Uh-huh he's so close to the bajic power source i think that he needs to be like anointed in order to see it but he is so so fricking close so we're we're not going to revisit the bamboo forest here in this exact spot for a very very long time but i think it's just worth taking stock of the fact that we we begin here we begin on the eye and the eye as as mike mentioned filled with symbolism that i wonder how intentional it is probably not too deep at the start of the show but i think another great example of some of the things that they could've just retroactively look back gonna be like oh. We've got a lot of great building blocks to play with and we can really build in a lot of this. Mythology already moved in. They already hung their shoes up in the trees so josh. It looks like they're going to be here for a while. They're going to be here for a minute so jack runs out hits the beach. Here's something and of course we heard a little bit of it at the top of the podcast. We won't hear anymore from the plane crash when we get into our eight southbound but there it is the wreckage of oceanic flight eight one five it is is it disaster we will talk about some of the behind the scenes intel on how that all came together later on in the podcast but for now it's just such a spectacle some amazing character connections that are occurring here as one of jack's first actions is to team up with john locke a guy that he is going to have a very turbulent relationship ship with these the first person the first meaningful main character that he teams up with year to pull some wreckage off of a man and save this guy with the help of two other redshirts who we will get to know jack is going to go on and rescue his pregnant half sister who he does not know is his pregnant half sister claire littleton little tin. He's going to be assisted as well by hugo hurley reyes who he does not yet no is the man the future new man in charge of wine once and future king. Yes hurry the king. He's going to be saving the life of a woman who right until this moment was dying from cancer rose. We will find out more about that in season two and all the while he is going to be trying to shula way a man who's just trying to help but this guy i is going to be dead in a couple of weeks anyway and then he goes and he saves claire and hurley from getting flattened out in the opening action blockbuster sequence <hes> loss no actual blockbuster featured this is i know that people might you know just following along with our recap. I heavily lee encouraged people if you're not going to watch the entire pilot parts one and two at least watch these first twenty two minutes and it's pretty crazy that along with this this is just one segment but the entire first act of lost is one uninterrupted at twenty two minutes streak back in two thousand four. I feel like that was unprecedented. Josh i'm feeling nowadays. We're like mister robot when thirty five minutes without a commercial break yeah that totally makes sense but back before peak t._v. When we were just something that mountain climbing got to get a better signal this just feel so unprecedented and really is a great microcosm of just how lost changed the game in so many ways. I cannot talk highly enough about this scene. Unlike the oceanic eight fifteen wing this pilot holds up in the crash is gripping the camera the work of jack stumbling onto the beach and again the way the cameras focused on his left side is just like again a perfect hawaiian idyllic beach seems like he just you know took a it's news while going on a vacation. Maybe loss two-rupee was wet and then it swerves around and we just see madness. Shannon is screaming. Her head off michael of course running around yelling. Walt charlie is just being a dingus and it's just wandering around in a drug-addled as there is so much yeah he's high he's here. He's very high and that is a tough situation to have to be doing with in his state of mind. There's so much great stuff going. I mean the first line is somebody helped me which i think you could just said by a random person but again great microcosm of jack's role especially in every serve plays like essentially do like one doctoral procedural roll boil down to like a five minute series literally going through three different patients and his triaging them in the moment. I do love that lock helps. The guy whose legs are pinned under the wreckage records like better you than me buddy unfortunately r._i._p. Gary troup who i would say you know so to recap what happens support gary troup i will we'll get to that and the feedback as well. We definitely have that coming up so we can. We can hold onto that tape. I will say before we move on here. Yes boone is not portrayed in a great light. We're going to get into it. I would say that the pilot is a pretty good job of introducing our core cast of characters in very surface level aw characterizations except maybe boone boone's doing the best he can to resuscitate poor rose and jack comes in putin's like you know what i was doing that you normal life guard. I'm licensed and jack slightly replied while you might want to consider giving that license my wrench and then he gets onto the you know the dingus. His mission of when you go on didn't get a guy out of the way tom tip grab pens for a tracheotomy that you're never going to do so. I do feel a bit bad for billiard just because jack treats them with such blatant disregard right from the get go yeah i sure so jack is going to get away from the crash. He's got some some stuff to deal with on his own. He's been injured as well. We're just finding that out for the first. I i am that he's got a pretty gnarly wound on his back. He is going to get that wound on his back. Stitch by the woman he's gonna fall in love with and spend his is happily ever after life sideways thing that will try to make sense of it's a future problem or a sideways problem but it's not a now problem. Kate austen is in the building or on the beach as it were. They have a little conversation about why jack is not so afraid we will we will get to that in in fuller detail and it will bet i think mike the bigger news to talk about is their conversation is gonna continue into the night and they are going to be on the beach together and they're going to be recapping what they think may have happened to their a plane as to why their plane crashed and this is a detail that i feel like people who have not watched the episode and longtime probably forget and would maybe if they haven't watching. They're just listen to us with things that we're kidding but jack makes a plane like a toy plane out of out of a leaf and just like flies it through the sky to illustrate his point of like we were here and then we crashed ashed and it was bad and it's like jacksonville serious person in the world and here he is making toy leaf planes which feels so remarkably out of character sure for jack so many of these characters arrived so fully formed but this is just one moment that is just like this is. This is very much. Jack sheppard that. I've come to know maybe this is. The bizarro from ruth <unk> ranger like my dad wanted me to be a doctor but i wanted to join me. I just wanted to make toys for children. What if that's his secret backstory sorry that he he decided to be a doctor 'cause his dad pressured him into it. But what if there's a flashback on the cutting room for that jackson wanted to make some toys man yeah i mean it. It would make more sense than the fact that maybe that's why he becomes so i don't know so down and serious is because once walt gets kidnapped and he's like well. There goes my chance of any other kid. There goes my prime market here. I have a baby and that's it on the note of the leaf plane which i totally forgot about but i realized you can have a lot of fun fun re watching the pilot from the point of view that jack sheppard wants everybody to know that he knows how to fly a plane. There are several liberal points over the course of this pilot especially when we get to like the transceiver subjects like yeah. I took a couple of flying lesson so there's going to be this transceiver thing like here's again. I think we're about six sixty thousand feet above the ocean and then the fuselage broke off around four hundred feet below that i just i love this idea that again. Maybe he's a he's a wannabe. The b. toymaker turned doctor but on the side. He took those two pilot lessons and he wants everybody to know about. I think it's no surprise that jack's a little bit of a know it all so for him to be going around around just like sneering at people with his pilot knowledge not not a massive surprise but we diminish the heroic contributions of one jack sheppard shepherd not just what he did during the immediate aftermath of the crash but he and kate are gonna come up with a plan she kate says i saw some smoke in the valley and it seems like that's probably because it was the cockpit but your mind just starts racing mike retroactively who did she did. She see she see the monsters onstage. She sees him smoke monster action in the valley whether or not she sought before they're gonna hear it now because just as jack and kate decide that they're going to go search for the cockpit and the morning earning the monster decides to announce itself the roaring from the jungle and it attracts the attention of all of our characters in a really really amazing way right yeah. I know we're sort of hitting the major points. We should mention that especially when we get back to the beach with jack and kate. There's a bunch of little interstitial scenes. Were you know you have saieed taking the lead on the signal fire. Burning charlie sits next to him. We have hurley getting the the meals ready from the plane. Rose is kissing something and it turns out to be bernard's wedding ring. Who gave it to her before he went to the bathroom because he said his fingers were too swollen and of course john locke after helping that one guy who said ah good for a break and just camped out not speaking to anybody a for a good portion of the episode. He's got a lot going on this whole. Thanks very big dealing work working..

"We're going to be but i feel like especially with what she does to <hes> <hes> john locke not lock in the end. I think it's she's a total bad ass. I've got some things to say on that but i i wanna i wanna save it for the pilot recap and tabula rasa but i think that not that they're setting up cates and game but again just a looping back quality were where kate winds up into very very final episodes. There's some stuff here in the beginning that i'm excited to get into talk to me about talk to me about. Yes john locke talk to you about the life that actually is locked -tario quinn and and this show plays him in the beginning as morally ambiguous. You don't really know where he stands at frankly they. They play that with him for for much of the show but certainly in the beginning and the end of tabula rasa. There's going to be like the very sinister the camera pans and lands on his very very creepy looking face but we have a greater understanding of the of the tragedy of john mccain wear his story winds up at least for him physically. What did you take away from re experiencing. John locke in the first season floss. It's sound strange but i appreciated his flaws more. I think he's a beautifully flawed well-developed character if not one of the most well-developed characters of the entire show and of course it's enhanced by terry quinn and had just the mannerisms in the eye twitches in the twinkle in his eye and you know i think that he played his cards cards close to the vest as the seasons on also absolutely see what is future the future character says which is you are amenable for coercion. I feel like they he laid the groundwork from episode on that lock was going to be the one that that smoke targeted and that is going to be as patsy and i see it more now. I think that there's even at the end of tabula rasa. If you're if you're watching that in glorious surround sound or you have headphones on and the music that plays at the end of that episode it's such a happy montage that closes out the i guess technically the third hour of the series i consider it the second episode of the series tabula larosa but the music that plays out so pleasant you're seeing all these happy reunions and the happiest moment on the island so far in the camera pans and lands on locks finistere face and and the music fades away and there's like a little bit of like monster crackle that fades in is yes in the background. There's there's little things like that where i don't think at that point in time that there was any way that damon lindelof knew that john locke would die and -tario quinn would get the chance to play play a a shape shifting evil villain version of himself but i think that there is this sense that his destiny was intertwined aligned with the most central parts of the island and the monster being one of the most recognizable central components of the island so there's there's a lot of fun stuff that you can go back and you can dig through in terms of his connection to the monster overall absolutely and i'm a huge huge fan of future lock flashbacks so i like. I really enjoyed getting to you know he again. How about your friend and mine. The great hugo hurley reyes future leader of the island knowing that that that is going to be his job by the end of the series that he is the candidate to take over the whole show. How was it revisiting hurley. Who at the very mary beginning this series is not so good with blood and by the end of the thing he is inheriting a big bloody island. I mean it is delightful. Treat truth be told. It's hard for me to separate now because i am friends with hore hey and he is as delightful as you could. Possibly imagine he is not as a openly greg area ss hurley i would say but he is the kindness human being possibly on the planet and so by the way congratulations. You just got married last month. He posted some. I'm wedding photos on his instagram wearing like a monkey suit and it was the most incredible thing i've ever seen very unbranded for him. He's really into that planet the apes and monsters godzilla and that's his thing godspeed but hurley is still the most delightful character and brings you. The most joy lost at least to me and i it felt maybe because i know him a little bit like i was more touched by when he was when he wins when he was called names by sawyer or they would mention his wait or he would talk about his issues with weight and food and i just find it absolutely fascinating. I feel like if this was a shakespearean play. He is the chorus and he's speaking floor in to us and he always had that role and provides the comedy. He's the gesture but there's a lot of pain underneath. I love hurley and i don't think i think i've only heard of one person ever now. Looking early in the internet jumped all over them so that was that i have a hard time imagining the person who loves lost but hates hurley like i guess i can picture the person who loves lost and things that hurley is fun but isn't like a top five character for them or something but who loves lost and doesn't love hurley just makes no sense to me. It is strange because he is possibly what are the most likeable human beings to have ever graced our televisions like who just who's out there that is hating on hurley and his left. A mosque doesn't make any sense to me. There's there's one person on twitter but i haven't talked since i've already hey forgotten. I don't know you character who who we grow to love over the course of the series but maybe begins the series as a rather loathsome individual would be james sawyer ford josh holloway late of colony. I'm still not over that. I may be the only one tell me about going through the journey with sort because he's he's so different and i know that he's interwoven ultimately <music> with your all time favorite lost character juliet burke indeed that of course helps i think he has one of the most tremendous redemption arc's so to speak on on the island starting in season five but boy i get it. Josh holloway and sawyer are the most charming people and so i get it i get why kate is enamored. I get why people on the island or over his b s and ito it is a his leadership style is obviously leaves a lot to be desired in the first few seasons especially in the pilot and and season one but you learn i liked they pretty much immediately illuminate why he feels feels like he needs to be sarcastic and mean and hoard items and dole them out and be in charge in a really really really loved a lot of the season one flashbacks and and what happens on the beach with him being a hero being a villain and i don't know that i dislike sawyer how about saieed who i'm so excited excited to go on this journey naveen andrews so fantastic as site jura but when when you think about people even many of the people who have squared their beef with the end of lost joe are still pretty upset with where the chips fall or saieed. What have you taken away from revisiting with say. I'm also the only thing i'm disgruntled about it all with the valley who ended up within the church but that'll be for future podcast us but i i've always really liked sade and i also find that his flashbacks are eliminating and i just i was just trying to him. From the gecko. Okay he was also one of the first people from the pilot on that was productive and needed to find the technology to get in touch and he didn't give up. He wanted to do the fire on the beach and they wanted to do the transceiver conceiver and i just felt like like jackie needed to be helpful. He's not a guy who's gonna sit around. I know that it gets a little bit later on when he has to torture are sawyer for items but despite that i don't feel as judgy toward him as do other characters who like charlie the start judging charlotte you said you saw him being molded in more of a villainous a direction which was the surprising tape for me and it's something i want to keep an eye on as we're marching coaching through season one yeah i get that he has a crush on clarity wants to help with while she's still pregnant before erin and the thing is very very very sweet but then it sort of takes a dark turn after the raft burns and he and sawyer like collaborate to prove a point that they're not safe by hitting son over the head and he he gets so angry. That lock doesn't believe him about not being on drugs after the baath after his rogue episode the moth and then it just goes downhill and i don't know it almost seems seems like this is again. This has never been said but i feel like whence boone died. They gave some of his story charlie. That's just how i interpreted the season one yeah i think that a lot of that stuff with chart with like the post raft burning and the long con stuff and charlie teaming up with sawyer and knocking <music> out son from season to and that's a lot of that's around the time that like charlie has hoarded the heroine statues again and it really was it did signal to me and this is still played on the re watches that i have done there was just a bit of a sense of we don't really know what to do with charlie now that we resolved of his drug habit in the first season and so i think in season two he does end up taking that darker turn but even that being said he he kills ethan rom in cold blood in the first season so it does get asks right fairly grim dark for charlie pretty early on in the show's is run. It's kind of like he's. He's not as the thing about hurley where like i would have a hard time imagining a person who doesn't love hurley. I can imagine the the people who don't love charlie because i think that there's a seriousness to the way that he's written that is sometimes not measured well with you know it's not as compelling as it is serious. You know what i mean like. I feel like there's there's just like something that can be missing and even though he's a very jovial character what he's going through is very heavy a lot of the time and it just doesn't always always land at the way you want it to dominic monaghan so good. It's hard to i forgot. I i forgot. I jumped edison too because i was so fresh but one of the things is interesting too. Is you know why have this memory of charlie and hurley being b._f._f. Right away and it really wasn't the case. If anything he was kind of a little in season one it wasn't really until season two then later on hurley and charlie bonded and but also i do appreciate charlie because again again knowing his heroic ending it makes me appreciate the journey out with clare with his with his constant claire littleton then aka jack sheppard's half sister unbeknownst to either one of them anything new from from claire on the rewatch verses. This is what you had thought about her heading into the show nothing particularly new ideas and she just wasn't you're typically pregnant character. She didn't see like a trope this time around actually stronger than i gave her credit for and certainly she got more meaty stuff to work with later on with squirrel baby but season one pregnant right claire was not surprised by that mike is really excited to revisit the story line and just in the episode that i've gone back and i've i've watched. There's there's really good stuff. There and i think emily revenue is really really great as well. The cast is so good to a person characters. You don't like yeah exactly and they've all mostly gone on to do pretty incredible things. Speaking of characters and people don't like we are getting into bat. We're getting into boone and shannon territory territory here in the first season and boone really look at some guest spots from him later on in the run but this season and shannon we won't have for too much blogger past season one just six or so episodes into season two is where she goes to spoil some of the focus on our pilot. Let recap coming your way and just a little while here. We already got a lot of questions about boone and how he is the worst and care to respond to that is a hell. A lot of those are framed. How do you feel about boone and shannon. Is it pretty down the middle. Yeah they're the worst or is there some nuance that you picked up on these characters going back and hanging out with them for a spell instead of the worst. I wouldn't say they're my favorite. I i think they honestly if anything <hes> and you know what i'm friends the writer so i'm not gonna rip them but i feel like maybe they didn't know what to do with the in summer halder and i feel like rewatching his art with lock could have easily been an arc with jack or anyone else. I know that whenever decision led them to killing off-duty seasonable which also was a bold thing to do when you have one of your heart throbs and you kill him off obviously he went on to bigger and better things with with the vampire diaries so he did fine but i am really have any feelings about it..
