"huckabee sanders" Discussed on The Charlie Kirk Show
"Welcome to the Charlie Kirk show. Thanks so much for being here. Thank you for having avenue great to be with you. My my goal is to ask harder questions here than you had at the white in the White House. Press poll well. I'm glad that this is a really quick interview. I'm going to walk away now before. He so the conservative base. Just adores you. You fought for the president who fought for our country so unbelievably affectively eloquently as White House. Press Secretary for the young people. Listen to our podcast. Let's start just with your career kind of trajectory. How did you end up as as White House press secretary always love hearing the stories honestly? I sort of kind of fell into the job. I've always been more on the behind the scenes side of campaign pain and consulting and I'd been running campaigns All over the country particularly my home state of Arkansas and I had been working for my dad's campaign for a while and when he got out of the race I was looking at the field and determined not only was Donald Trump the best person to beat Hillary Clinton but I liked a lot of the things he was saying so I'd gotten to know quite a few people in the campaign over the course of the primary and so I signed on with President Trump's campaign in February of two thousand sixteen so pretty early in the primary and one day I got a phone call and they said hey would you be willing to go on a TV tomorrow. And I said sure why not and so I did in my role. Oh morphed from kind of senior adviser to more of a surrogate I ended up spending the majority of my time on the trump campaign doing tv work and after that Became came the principal. Deputy Press Secretary Sean. Spicer and Shortly after the administration ended up as the press secretary. You always handled yourself so well I mean the the press is more dishonest. And I think we've ever seen in our nation's history they're committed towards destruction and activism. Not Actually telling the truth. Can you walk us through. What would a typical day in the White House be? I mean there would be probably not the typical day is no typical day but just scheduling. How early would you get in? I get these questions all the time from people. I don't really know. Well I think you nailed it right away. There is no typical day in the White House. But that's one of the things I loved about it And certainly with this president because he has such a unique and different style and he controls so much of the message. Not just for the White House but for the country He sort of sets the tone of what we're we're going to talk about for the day so sometimes you wake up in the morning and you think that the focus is going to be on one thing and by nine. Am It's on four different things that you never even saw coming But the usually we would probably get started morning producers for Marine show start calling anywhere around five. Am so you'd be up at forty forty five five am yeah. You didn't have to be in the office at that time. But they'll start emailing and calling. I mean one of the things that people I think don't understand. Is that the press secretary. Okay everybody sees kind of the behind the podium part but they don't realize that every reporter pretty much in the world has your email and cell phone number and so you're accessible twenty four hours a day day to thousands of reporters all over the place and they call they email and they're constantly looking for information or statement And we kind of try to divide some of it up but a lot of the morning show folks start calling pretty early in the morning Looking for guidance comments on something that may have happened last night or things that they're talking talking about making sure that they still have the administration's take on whatever is carrying the news that morning I try to be in the office by seven. Thirty and Pretty much off to the races from there then the president never sleeps. I mean so. You don't sleep if he doesn't sleep you don't sleep. He works until eleven or twelve every night right and as you know. He's up Brighton. Early and thirties. It's not a surprise to sometimes get a call from the president by you know six six thirty in the morning as well. I mean from people that have worked in other White House. They say this pace is unlike anything they've ever seen. Is that probably fair to say I think so. I mean you know. I've talked to quite a few reporters that have covered multiple pull administrations and a lot of them are going to be really board In about five years when Donald Trump is not president anymore because You know I don't think you could compare pair anything to the pace in the schedule that he I was talking with a reporter from some outlet and he asked me and I couldn't answer but you you could answer a better. He said why is it. Seemed like things are changing quicker under trump than any other president. I just there's so much not just policy but just differences of trajectory projector. And do you think it's obviously the team that president trump has around him. You being a part of it but it all starts with him rice lately. It's all driven by him. He is somebody who wants to get things done. He's a businessman who comes any says we have a problem. We'll let's fix it and he doesn't go the traditional route of let's figure out. Let's get seventeen committees to discuss it. And he's like we have a problem. We know how to fix it. Just go out and do it And that was one of the great things about working for him. He didn't care if you you were. You know the press secretary or whatever else if you were there and he thought you were capable. He'd be like Sarah Take it on. Go do it and I remember one day. He asked me to call the national security adviser and do this. He has Sarah. Can you make a phone call or not. Yes sir he goes then just get it done. It was like Yes sir. And he's is that way with everything he bureaucracy almost exactly and he's Sudbury refreshing thing for Washington something that Washington so desperately we needed was donald trump to come in shake things up and say you know. We don't have to make everything take years to happen. Let's get some stuff done and let's deliver on the promises that we made during the campaign and he does that every single day. So you'd be up at four forty five. Am You also raising kids right and they help get you up at five hundred tests. So you're dealing with all that you're in. You're in the office if you will the White House by seven thirty dealing with everything and your days could go 'til eight nine ten eleven so you're on four or five hours of sleet and if you say one thing wrong or one common misplaced. It's a story it's the end of the world and people have to realize though that you were the fatigue league right that sets in for any human being right. How did you deal with that? And that's what I you know. I we like to think that we you know work at a breakneck taste turning point but we're not running the White House and you know we do red eye flights and all this my heart goes out to you and Hogan I'm like you guys are under the gun and after after five or six days of this in a row or you only on three hours of sleep. I mean that's that's really really hard and just you have to continue to be precise what what inside can you share. Share to how. You're able to to work through that. Because I mean imagine how much harder it is for the president. He's literally the most powerful man in the world. And everything he says and does is so scrutinized That it's the stress on us is a lot but what he's carrying is unlike anything. Any of US could have imagined particularly given the amount of incoming coming that he takes the a constant barrage of attacks that he has to live under For the rest of us we love our country and we love the president. We love the results and the things that he's delivering on. And you know it was an honor and a privilege to get to play a small part report in what he was doing and I had an incredible incredible husband. who was patient enough to be supportive throughout that process and At the end of the day my faith is another huge part of what I think powers and and defines who we are and gives us the confidence we need to go in and face some of the toughest days In that building and you know those different jobs getting in shape is just about losing weight. It's about learning healthier habits and feeling.
Where the fake Trump media massacre video came from, and other things to know about it
"All right so for those of you that might not be totally into this story or understanding where it's come from this was totally trending on twitter all day a and it just so happens that I spoke at the conference where this is the center of controversy so there was a horrific museum video where you're donald trump massacres fake news media now essentially there's these videos that go around and there's this community of people that love the president so much they'll take popular videos superimpose the face of Donald trump onto somebody kickboxing or somebody with a lightsaber fighting people they disagree with so I guess the most this one was the CNN which with precise which was the body slam when the wwe one because the president shared that one and so this particular video was from the movies kingsman which is about the British Secret Service or something starring Colin Firth actually doesn't fourteen. I've never enjoyed those movies I it's called the dark comedy only for some people only some people very cheesy I never liked that movie right somehow killing people's funny but no there is a whole genre it appeals to a certain the demographics never liked the not Nora Nora I've tried to watch it a couple times is just not really my my genre so anyway this memoir so those that don't seem to have to define what a menas because we do have some people okay so mean is what is the best way to find a mean kind of like when you know it Ben Johnson Adam Benny Johnson chief creative officer turning point USA so look amine is a picture or a video that satirizes or explains an issue in a short sound bite that usually his comedy or uses wit I guess that's a good way to put it that it turns it on its head flips it sure Iran nick insightful. Almost here's the best way I can describe it it's the Internet's equivalent of political cartoons that a good way to put it share okay a modern digital essentially this scene in kingsman which I don't understand how this scene was really funnier incite fuller enjoyable the watch but allegedly there was a scene where somebody walks into a church and kills a bunch of people that was the scene Church massacre and they superimposed Donald Trump's face to be the guy that's killing everyone and then he's killing the fake news media CNN MSNBC as well as Democrats like Barack Obama Nancy Pelosi unless we totally denounces videos unequivocally and totally I don't think it's funny to show violence against other people I think it's it's not my not my taste I don't think it's funny people I find that Kinda dark humor interesting I'm not one of those people however he let's just get through some facts they say this was shown at the president's Miami resort so all of the media covering this is insinuating as if the president approved this or this was at his resort he didn't at all okay so I was at this event it was a unique event it was one with a lot of energy and a lot of people that were really excited to be there and Donald Trump junior Sarah Sanders governor on descent data's thankful to be invited you know so this video is shown in a side room in a breakout room against a wall in a very kind of make shift CAPAC- acidy and Don Jr. Ron to Santa Sarah Sanders myself and Corey Lewandowski knew nothing of it we didn't know about this until the news actually broke and now we're being lumped into this I might have spent forty minutes at this event basically the entire time I was at the event was when I was speaking in and out and Laura Ingraham that night and then I flew to Detroit super early the next morning I didn't hang around it was not but they're acting as if we were behind this entire thing the headlines are all all sort of inferring it's like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Donald trump junior charlie kirk and this

Four candidates at top of Trump's list to replace Sarah Sanders
"Are now four kids at the top of the president's list to replace Sarah Sanders. That's the job that I said, I, I would want nothing. No who, who would want that job to be the press secretary. That is a tough enough job as it is. Let alone during this administration. That is just a that you talk about a meat grinder. So we know Sarah Sanders is stepping down. President Trump according to Reuters has four leading candidates under consideration to replace her. They are White House deputy press secretary, HOGAN Gidley, HOGAN Gidley. First lady Melania Trump's communications director. Stephanie grisham. Former State Department spokeswoman, Heather Nauert. You may remember her. She was on Fox News for many years, Heather Nauert and outgoing treasury department spokesman Tony Sega essay, why h anyway, the source said, uncondition of anonymity HOGAN, Gidley, Stephanie, Grisham, header, Howard, Tony, saying, or Sega Sanders announced, of course yesterday. She's stepping down at the end of this month. Couple more weeks left. She's been on the job, two years. She's going to return to her home in the state of Arkansas. She will do nothing but relax. For a long, long time. I will give credit to Sarah Sanders. In this way, she did a much better job than spicy did Sean Spicer. That was that was tense and uncomfortable and awkward and tough to watch and tough to listen to. And I think what Sarah Sanders came along cook. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Anders Huckabee, whatever which she came along. She brought a certain amount of normalcy and I'm using air quotes here on the radio normalcy to that position. And normalcy to what that job entails and make no mistake about it. Being the press secretary for President Trump is unlike any other press secretary or press secretary's responsibilities for any prior president because in the end we'll look when when you're in that position, you are always. Really speaking for one person the president. But for this president, I really believe that not only are you speaking on his behalf. But you are also out there, trying to appease, and please, that president always whenever you work in the White House. You're clearly working. At the pleasure of the president trying to please him. But. What Spicer and what Sarah Sanders has had to do is been on a completely different level in terms of working to satisfy the man behind the resolute desk in the Oval Office. This has been something, an a completely other level, which brings me back to my original question. Who in the heck would want this job? I mean it's a no win situation to begin with. And it really is a job that. It really is a job for somebody who is willing to walk really blindly down the path and follow an avenue that rightly or wrongly whatever you believe, personally, you've gotta pedal, the narrative of the day, and you have to peddle the narrative, coming from, again, in this case, the Oval Office, which is always very difficult, which is always, or I should say, we can oftentimes be personally conflicting, but for this president for this administration. The office of press secretary is as unique one as we have ever seen. And whether it's HOGAN Gidley, Stephanie Grisham, Heather Nauert are Tony sag. I'm butchering that name if Tony gets the job will, obviously, get the name. Right. But if it's one of those four people.
Sarah Sanders Opts To Move On From White House
"The help wanted signs been hung on the White House press office. President Trump reacts to news White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, leaving the president speaking at an event about criminal Justice done an incredible job. We've been through a lot together she's tough. But she's good. You know, you also have tough and bad, right? She's tough. And she's good. She's great Sanders who was thirty six years old married with three young children and returning home to Arkansas. It's one of the greatest jobs, I could ever have. I've loved every minute even the hard minutes. I've loved it. I loved the president, for USA radio news. I'm Robert

"But I'm not gonna do that because I don't want to do my job because I think that it will hurt me politically now her calculation as always is completely wrong. I mean what was the last time, she's ever gotten a political calculation? Right. So looked, I want to be fair. She does get some political calculations right? Like accusing Trump of being part of a cover up. And then, you know, having that meeting with him where he like, has a temper tantrum, in Russia's out of the room, you know, in a fit of rage. Those types of political calculations I enjoy their great, but. When it comes when push comes to shove, when it comes to issues that really matter. She does show this unbearable level of weakness that I can't stand and you're right. You came talking about how terrible he is you keep talking about how you think he's breaking the law. But why are you saying that you're not going to push forward with impeachment? And why are people still arguing that you're a genius? That's what I don't get right genius wouldn't do that. So what I say. Her political calculations I've ever paid off. I mean largely in policy victories, cute little, you know, theatrics, whether it's her Schumer who, who like, it's okay, it's fine. We celebrated on that day, but it's not a real accomplishment, getting policy passed the real accomplishment. So anyway, bottom line is Sarah Huckabee Sanders is leaving, we don't know if it's for something she knows that we don't yet know that could go on to explode we don't have a solid indication of that now and two Annas point, even if Donald Trump shot someone on Fifth Avenue and Sarah Huckabee Sanders knew about it. What difference would it make nascent, Rossi likely wouldn't go for impeachment anyway? Moving onto some other news. An update to a story we did yesterday during ABC interview with Donald Trump. He admitted after this lengthy special counsel investigation that if he were approached by a foreign government with opposition research against his opponent. He might look at it, and he might not even report it to the FBI, which is against the law. And so now you have all of his lackeys in the media lining up to defend him and trying to convince you the American people that what you heard Trump say, wasn't actually what he said. Here's one example, president said he would listen but he was also Senate to the he said he would do both. So what the question is, whether you should do both or just simply refuse to get the information, but he did say he would turn it over to the FBI. So and what I thought it was maybe. Yeah. Maybe. I know also initially he did point out house. He's never never picked up the phone for for for something like that. And nobody ever would and congress people don't do it. And that Chris Wray is wrong that you should pick up the phone. Yeah, I look at the prison throws terms. Maybe on. I mean he has sort of as we all do. We have filler words that we throw out there and that the don't mean what they say, like you know, I think is so, so I took the president for his word. They would do both which I think I don't think that's necessarily inappropriate as long as he refers to the FBI as far as looking at the information, maybe should maybe shouldn't. But I don't think there's a crime and looking at the information as long as you referred to the proper thorns. No. There is a crime in looking at the information you are receiving oftentimes stolen goods. But more importantly, you're receiving them from a foreign country, which is illegal. So you eat the whole point is you're not supposed to receive it. I'll gore even when it wasn't a foreign country. It got the George Bush's preps for the debates. Did not look at it and immediately turn it over to the FBI assuming that it must have been in some way, stolen, George Bush prompt for the debates I know..
Trump retweets doctored video of Pelosi to portray her as having 'lost it'
"Speaking, how far will the Republicans go? I was talking earlier about Trump's battle with Nancy Pelosi. Have you seen the latest have you seen what they did to her video? Some of these right wing. Republicans. Have taken Nancy Pelosi's speeches, and addresses a recent address, by the way and a question and answer. Sheree. And they slowed it down. And they and they and they altered the tone. To make it appear as if it's a real video. Meghan, is if that is, if her normal voice, and they have made it appear in the video that they have released as if she is drunk and stumbling. She slurring her words, she stumbled they released a thirty second piece of video of her stumbling during a question and answer shoes. And what they've done is they have repeated this, this fake video has been re tweeted and re tweeted and re tweeted by Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and by others. In the Trump administration. Trump is questioned whether whether she's losing it. He said, she's crazy. They're questioning her ability based on this fake video and Facebook has not removed. It now there, I forget the other one YouTube, but one of the other one of the other social. Media sites removed. It it's a lack. It's phony, it's fake, and they end it has been viewed thousands of actually over a million times. That's what they've done to Nancy Pelosi that that's the only issue they have to a woman who is really giving them sharp elbows, and they're worried about her show, they so they're trying to destroy her Trump is now started calling her crazy Nancy as a result of this fake video. That's what they've done. If you've seen that, anywhere. It's fake. They have played it side by side with the real video. The media has side by side. Dirty
White House revokes press passes for dozens of journalists

CNN's April Ryan and Fox's Mike Huckabee Have Twitter Beef
"One time GOP presidential candidate and Fox News contributor. Mike Huckabee has clashed with a tweet by CNN's April. Ryan after she criticises daughter White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders on the heels of the Muller reports release the controversy started after Ryan called for Sanders firing. In light of special counsel, Robert Muller's claim that Huckabee Sanders misled the media during press briefings, no Ryan said, there's a lack of credibility, and you have to start lopping off heads to watch my copy reminded, folks. Well, especially in light of the fact that Sarah Palin got pilloried because she talked about targeting races now targeting races in politics means that you pick out races that you want to win. But she was said to be trying to incite violence, then April Ryan who's supposed to be an objective journalist is not objective journalism. How does a person sit there in that space at the White House press room claiming to be a reporter and a journalist and have such over the top opinions about the White House press secretary who does. Yes, happens to be my daughter, so sure pops a little sensitive about it. But I just think that it was outrageous and CNN, of course, never called her out. Neither did the White House Correspondents Association. That's. It's not the kind of comments that should be celebrated among journalists. It's ridiculous Huckabee. The Fox News contributor was speaking there on Fox News
Sarah Sanders says Trump will continue to "call out" Ilhan Omar
"The debate continues over whether to condemn or defend congresswoman Ilhan, Omar for her comments about nine eleven in a speech. She said some people did something that day. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, says Omar has a history of antisemitic comments, and it's a good thing. The president's calling out for them. The big question is why aren't Democrats doing it as well? And not just doing doing it by they do these watered-down pushbacks that frankly, they feel like give them enough cover, but aren't really getting the
Trump's North Korean Blunder
"Because President Trump set off a widespread confusion across his administration on Friday. When he appeared to announce that he would undo recently imposed sanctions on North Korea following hours of uncertainty administration officials later insisted that the president was not referring to the new sanctions on North Korea that his administration rolled out just a few days before. Instead, we were told the president was declaring that he was opposed to not yet announced sanctions on the North Koreans. I have to tell you. I it's it's absolutely amazing. This is what the president tweeted it was announced today that the US treasury that additional large-scale sanctions would be added to those already existing sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of these additional sanctions people in his administration. Just don't get it. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said President Trump likes chairman Kim. And he doesn't think these sanctions will be necessary understand the president's tweets surprised, many of his senior aides and even some treasury department officials or caught off guard. Now, it appears to be in my mind anyway, and you tell me if I'm wrong for one five eight zero eight zero eight ten it appeared to be the latest example of the president operating on gut instinct with little care for formal policy process. I tell you I I understand how presidents work, and you know, that I get questions about presidents all the time. I've taught courses on. Residents. I worked for Richard Nixon. Past presidents sometimes spent weeks or even months running key policy proposals through the gauntlet of review by federal agencies and senior White House advisers. One of the things that I find so disturbing about this president is he's largely shunned that process preferring to ask a small group of informal advisers or sometimes no one at all before making these rapid fire decisions even the administration's allies were baffled by the reversal. Mark Deuba wits and influential critic of the Iran nuclear deal who was chief executive of the foundation for the fence of democracies who often appear on the program hosted by John bachelor. So many of you have heard him I've been working he says on treasury sanctions for fifteen plus years. Don't recall ever seeing a president overrule a treasury announcement after capital letters A F T E R big bolt. Had called the announcement important warning his Twitter followers to take notice and review their activities to ensure they are not involved in North Korea's sanctions evasions. But by the way, Bolton as you know, and he's been a guest with Ron Owens here. Over many years, you're on K geo Bolton has long been skeptical of diplomacy with North Korea has distanced himself from the president's abusive praise of Kim in the days since last month's Hanoi
White House Says 200 Troops Will Stay in Syria, Retreating From a Full Withdrawal

The White House says a small group of US truth will remain in Syria, despite President Trump's recent call for a full withdrawal, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Thursday about two hundred troops will remain. "Williams. I cannot believe you are on this podcast. Finally after all these years. I'm glad that we didn't do it before. Although if we'd done it before we just do it again. But it's so much more fun to do with the book out than before the book was out. I have the book microphone ascending upon the book. One thing occurs to me is that you are currently living in a very strange world of you had told me that you had a story come out in the New Yorker. And you're like, let's take this after my story comes up in the New Yorker, and you didn't say what it was. Right. And you have a very eclectic set of interests and ability to write about a wide range of things. So I had no idea what it was. But I kind of just because I was reading the book I kind of assumed that maybe it was science related or or even dinosaur related that something maybe it was an excerpt. Although the original story did appear in the anyway, and then this came out at its Provo Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and then it just to me you're like living in the most modern newsy. Moment with that. And then like literally in like, a paleontological world discussing your book. And I'm wondering how you're keeping those things in your head. Right. Maybe I maybe I'm not maybe they fly right out. And it feels right in a way because I've always been a generalist. I've always been someone who values in who was told the value and newspaper days range. It's good to be able to write about lots of different things to report on lots of different things. So that was part of how the book came up, and then also a part of how Sanders came up that was an assigned piece as in. I didn't go in without idea that it was mentioned to me. And this was before the red hen incident, this is before the White House correspondent to say save dinner. It was before she had worldwide, I guess or at least domestic US name recognition. So that pose a little bit of a problem in that suddenly everybody was profiling her, and he's like ten thousand new cycles ago that starting in geological. Oh, let's just mash the two in geological terms. It was it was quite a while ago. And it was hard to sort of stay calm while news breaking around her all the time and think okay, now, what's the what's the story that we can do that. Nobody else is going to be doing in that we can do deeper and hopefully better. And when you when they brought you that assignment where you immediately did immediately crab. You did you. Yeah. This is something I do. Yeah. For a few reasons. I mean, she's the spokesperson for the Trump administration. She's the face of the Trump administration other than Trump. She has influence with the president. She is very well liked by her colleagues, which is a rare and bizarre thing in the White House in the west wing in particular, and she's very well liked among journalists believe it or not like the backstage. Sarah Sanders is very different from the camp on cameras here Sanders, and I thought that juxtaposition or that dichotomy is really interesting worth exploring. And then she's from Arkansas. I'm from Mississippi, and you get this being from Atlanta that I mean, there's just something interesting there about how one comes to that particular position of influence empower from Arkansas, I wondered when I read it how much of a role that played and you getting her to talk to him, and she didn't do much on the record could see, but she did cooperate to some level. And family members seemed to have at one point she said, this is going to happen. Whether I like it or not, right? And I was like it's going to like it or not. So I mean, you know, she wisely participated as much as she felt she could I think, but at first she said, you know, she said, no, no, no, no never s- never going to happen. I hung out in the White House and to no avail is never going to happen..

She adores his Jewish grandchildren. And it's it's the worst kind of political smear, and it's totally unfair. Here was the opening statement at the White House press briefing from Sarah, Huckabee Sanders. Our nation mourns the loss of these extraordinary Americans. And we also pray for those who were wounded our hearts are with the four brave. Police officers who were shot and injured while trying to stop the attack. We thank God for these officers and for every member of law enforcement who responded swiftly and bravely, the president cherishes the American Jewish community for everything it stands for by the way, some props to the NFL the Pittsburgh Steelers went on with their game. Two point this way this finger finger, whether we're deplorables or whether it's enemies of the people in the press. It's not helpful and it should tone down. Both on people, and frankly among among the press as well. Okay. I think he's entirely right? The one thing that I would be careful of Mr. Weiss respectfully, don't compare Louis Farrakhan to Donald Trump. I mean, Louis Farrakhan is an open unapologetic lifelong anti-semites he is. I mean, he he he clearly is he doesn't even apologize for it anymore. And he he is identified. I don't know anyone who can plausibly say that Louis Farrakhan is not a hater of Jewish people. And Donald Trump is so free of that charge. You can charge Trump with lots and lots of stuff. But I tweeted about this. It is unequivocal that Donald Trump cares deeply about the state of Israel. And as Sarah Huckabee Sanders said today, he adores his Jewish grandchildren. And the idea that the Donald Trump is quote dog whistling or is is some kind of deep anti Semite or that he's responsible for encouraging things like this synagogue attack by as Lou Wai said a guy who said he hated Trump.
