"When he was a little boy, a man by the name of zebedee Coltrane. Now, I'll give you a little background in ZB culture to kind of add some flavor to this. ZB culture was one of the original members of the school that profits in kirtland with Joseph Smith. It's awesome miraculous things, visions, et cetera. Later in his life, settle in the Spanish fork region in Utah. And serve as a patriarch. Brother Coltrane would he says that he could not sleep. He could not rest until he delivered a message to a young boy by the name of George Albert Smith. He went over any deliver the message, gave his Patrick a blessing where he said that he would serve as the leading bodies of the church. He says, I need to give you this blessing. This won't go away until I give this to you. If you remember, later in his life where George R Smith is actually was called McCormick 12, his health was poor, and he does not serve, even though he's in the core. He does not serve in his full capacity because of his health for a number of years. And when he was first called, he had this dream where his grandfather, George a Smith, the cousin to the prophet Joseph Smith came to him and he says, what have you done with my name? And he says, in that vision, his whole life passed before him. And he says I've done nothing to cause you any embarrassment. And I just think that heaven has her hand in some of these calls. You know, there was another one, Bruce arma conkey before he was called in the corn the 12 was, I believe he was down in Mexico at a state conference. He was serving in the corn the 70. And there was a vacancy in the 12 and they were doing the sustaining site. You've been to a state conference before where you go through the business and do the sustaining. When they got to the end, he's on the stand listening to the names being read of the first presidency in the corn's wealth. When the final name, you know, the 11th name was read, he heard his name immediately afterwards. Bruce armo conkey, and he almost stopped the meeting. He goes, no, there's a mistake. You don't say my name with that quorum of the 12. You know, but nobody said it. It was the spirit that whispered into his ear, giving him a little bit of warning. And so I think that some of these some of these calls as they're given some are given a little bit of warning. And that warning is not always welcome. If I go back to hubie Brown just for a second, we know the story is really famous story about the current Bush. And he was a general, you know, or he wasn't a general. He was in a position to become a general..

"Com slash g r E e N y zip recruiter the smartest way to hire We opened with the disaster. That was last night in Brooklyn, a 39 point game that wasn't nearly as close as the final score would suggest, And when I say disaster, I mean that literally. This is a disaster for the NBA. They've lost their biggest stars on the West Side of the ledger in LeBron James and Steph. And now the Nets look like they're just going to make a mockery of the East. And so I turned to the infamous Google Doc, the infamous Greeny show Google Doc and new nose notes yesterday. And once again, I would like to, just for those of you are not with us Every day. I'd like to remind you of what new nose role is here. He's my producer. His job is to present story options to me, right? I went to journalism school in that you think that's supposed to be unbiased, like Greenie? Here's the story I came across, you might find interesting. This is what he wrote in the Google, Doc. Bucks at nets If the Bucks aren't competitive against an answer without hard and how bad of a look is that for the NBA nuggets at sons while I'm not a huge fan of Chris Paul? Wow, new? No, never change, he writes. Is there an athlete in all of sports that people want to see in the finals more than CP three Hambo, says Mike Trout. And that's where going so that's what they're asking. Here's what I'm asking. All right, here's my question. Will any of the big three load manager game in this series? We know James Harden isn't playing right now because of injury. They want Russian back. He's drinking a big gulp on the sideline right now. I really believe that was like a big gulp that he was drinking of that huge straw. On the sideline last night watching the game and just laughing because what else is there to do when they go up? Three? Nothing when they win. Game three at one sidedly in Milwaukee. Will Kyrie play Game four? Probably not. What do you think? New? No. Does Kyrie play Game four? If they're up, three, nothing and cruising. Yes, I think he he would. I just think I don't think he can sit out this this series. Because I just I just don't think it would be a good look. I think he he knows that and I think he's done some things that you know during the regular season that everyone's like, what the heck but if he does it in the playoffs He would be destroyed, even if even though it is the Nets, and no one cares about the Nets. I mean people care about the nets, and at least enough that the reason that we care is because we were counting on them to sort of carry this thing, and we will see because it is a collection of teams. They have not done a lot of winning. In fact, Hambo put this together. Was this your note I saw from ESPN stats and info. This was not this was a colleague of mine. Okay, well, either way, your colleague Put together this note. None of the eight teams left in the playoffs, has won a championship since the playoffs expanded in 1984. The eight teams that have left the most recent champion. Was Philly in 1983, the legendary Moses Malone Foa Foa Foa Sixers The last time the Bucks one it was 1971 with Kareem Jalen thought that those were the only two that it wanted. Actually, the Hawks won a championship in 1958. The Clippers, the jazz, the Nets, the Nuggets and the Sons have never won the NBA championship so long drought is getting broken here one way or another. Over the course of the next couple of months. The New York Nets the New York Mets did win the NBA Championships in 74 76, led by Julius Erving. I have a vague recollection of that, like I remember the ABA remember the red, white and blue ball. I certainly remember Dr J, who was beloved by everybody in that league. Hubie Brown coach in that league..

"Here's what we have the rest of the way next hour to, uh This is a little disconcerting for some, depending upon how you interpret it, And we won't divulge which way we interpreted. Yeah. You're gonna have to wait, but two. It did admit That last year did not have a full grasp of the playbook and that he also didn't have great communication with his teammates. We'll get to that. The Cardinals, particularly there, Skipper furious over On umpire who called out the substance on a hat. Interesting place to pick a fight and we'll get to the Knicks and the Hawks coming up at five Eastern and two Pacific. So Twitter, Tiki Internee instagram. Same deal. YouTube dot com slash tiki and teary. By the way, this was a two point game. This was 93 91 with 3 26 to go in the third quarter. And that's why these games are a little deceiving. Like, you know, I understand. Listen, especially on the East Coast to fall asleep. What happened? They one more hungover that it won't get guys. They stabilize things and at least for one for one night they did. But this was a two point game. 93 91. As I said Late the third quarter, Utah won a game that they had to win. Now you talk without Donovan Mitchell is not is not a top seed. Utah with thought of in Mitchell is at least for this year. A top seed, so they were supposed to win less. I thought he'd be a little rust er than he was, But I mean the job. Moran experience is one Hell of a ride, and the Memphis Grizzlies are one more player away from scaring the hell out of everybody in the Western diet. I agree with you, Beatty, and it's probably gonna be event. I don't think a young player is gonna come in and just, you know, all of a sudden get it and female lift them to the heights that they haven't Seen before, unless it's like a new LeBron James, which I don't thinks coming out of college anytime soon. So I mean, I hear your BT. But because John Moran, and this year I thought he had for some reason in your mind. You're like, Yeah, he took a step back. Maybe he's not a great three point shoe. That's right. And maybe, and maybe he did like there for regular season basketball. Take a tiny step back. From what he was earlier released a year ago. But in this game, you see what makes him so enticing and exciting and tantalizing because there's just moments where he takes over and it's no matter what you do no matter you defend them. You can't stop him. And you know the one person like what I think of when I see what he does is Steph. But Steph doesn't from range jazz doing it from everywhere and you know, not behind the line, but he doesn't from at the room, and the one thing that we always thought about him was Man. He's in bed that he is lean. There's no way he's gonna hold up. He's holding up, man. If I'm if I'm the Jazz, and I have an off night, you better believe that John Durant's gonna beat you. You know, I like this team I really do. And we've talked about Jackson, who's missed a lot of time, you know, Topic, young kid When he was drafted, he was what is 21 now? How old's Jaren Jackson? Aaron Jackson is what Yeah, he's 21. He turned 21 in September, and he was right that, obviously so he's been in the NBA three years and he only 21, You know, he's an efficient player. He's a good place. Almost seven FT. People forget that about Jaren Jackson. They got Dillon Brooks in this boundless energy. Brooke, stay with throwback. Just tenacity. Valent shooters who, you know, even with Toronto every time we talk about of highly skilled player Good hands. Good feet, got himself in good shape. And you've got a guy who could drop 40 to 50 on you on any given night. You know the thing about John Moran? I wonder, Is he going to be like, you know, it's funny we were talking about the Andrei ate yesterday. And what's his ultimate money whenever he hit fully hits its apex, its stride. What he's the blossom into And we're not really sure, because you know, he does most of his work around the rim kind of light rum and a little bit, But he's a really good foul shooter. So you would think he's got a propensity somewhere within is hand eye is shooting. Repertoire to stretch it out. Start hitting threes is he gets a lot more comfortable, Pretty. Probably will. You know if John Durant ever becomes, and this is probably a bit ambitious, but if he ever has the season Where he shoots 40% from downtown. John Durant's gonna lead the league in scoring and he's gonna win the N V. P. Yeah, I mean, he's not good. Yeah, I think he's that good. But again, it's the same conversation we always have about the EVP. Your team's gotta gotta be there with you. And you know, the question is, what do they did me? This is This is an important playoffs. Erie's for the Memphis Grizzlies because it gives them experience right there. They're They're overmatched by the Jazz. We we We know that we saw that at the end of this game. Bt But it doesn't mean that you're not learning something from being here and the biggest thing and you said it a minute ago, bt the biggest thing they're gonna learn is what they need and whether or not they're going to be willing Go after it right? And it's hard to like. Look at the play offs that way, sometimes, like, Yeah, you got a team that's here. You don't expect him to go deep, but they gonna learn about themselves. It's gonna inform them and what they have to do. The next year. We get so enamored with who's gonna win like who's going to the next level to the next stage, as opposed to these younger teams, Um, that you know, don't have unnecessarily a chance, but do have Some of the components and you know when I look at the Grizzlies are endemic, and if I'm a Grizzlies fan, this is the time to jump on the bandwagon, Right? It's been a while since it Ziegfeld like this team has. I mean, is it whenever I mean was the deepest they've gone all even know, to be honest with the Memphis Grizzlies? Yeah, they had to get what they want. What they want 54. I want to stay with Michael. Look this up, Sam, I got it right here. I gotta get 1 54 games with Hubie Brown with white chocolate. That scene back in the day. Yeah, well, Holland's his his last year. Actually, they want Go back to Hubie. They actually want a playoff round, which Hubie Brown. Eubie Brown. Yeah, Well, yeah. They went the conference first round, but with but with Holland they want the conference finals. I kind of forget that. You know, I got that too. That wasn't it was only nine years ago almost a decade ago. Still got that too right, but still back to you, but I kind of skipped over. That's right. But it's been a while. It's been a decade that was with Zach Randolph of those guys. That's right. It was a good song. Gasol. You know the other thing..

"You know what I learned from the great Hubie Brown in terms of postseason play and success. That one a team must have at least three guys on the team who can score because you know the opposition is looking for ways to take away whatever your strengths are. Somebody might have an off night, Michael Ware. We had that. But it wasn't till he got the key components in place. They had centers by committee. There is well too, No. One dominant center, but they had it done by committee. So all of those key pieces in place, and Michael was certainly aware of when to go to some of that supporting cast that they could do what they did. Remember as his game evolved. Ah, lot of times you spent the first couple quarters 2.5 quarters getting the other guys involved so that their confidence level was high that they could contribute and not to be left cold to the first three quarters. If you well and all of a sudden now you need them. Patrick does the same thing on the football field. Yes, it is about the trigger man. But he will get those other guys involved in a New York minute and boy, does he have enough weapons to go to so that they can be counted on down the stretch? But is Patrick needs to be the one to act like Michael Jordan to deliver on his own? He could do that as well. But look just coming off of that concussion protocol. The turf toe is the tough game and he realizes it can't It is not all about him. It's about that sterling supporting cast that he has so it would behoove him to get them engaged with the clicking on all cylinders. You don't think I love the narrative. That many people in the press were, um propagate prop promulgating If you Rollo propagating whatever word you want to use, perpetuating saying that? Oh, my gosh. Kansas City is not winning by big margins as they did before. As if that look we're playing in the National Football League. These are the best athletes at that level point. Are you kidding me? And what is that supposed to be suggested that they won 20 for the last 25 games, and I just talked about what they did in the postseason. I don't care how weak the deficit was. They still got it done. But now they're showing. Hey, this is spotlight time. And they have risen to the occasion. Now to be clear with Eric Fisher being hurt their excellent left tackle. This is going to be something that they're gonna have to come on me. What was a thorn a cl? I'm sorry torn Achilles that he was being so now your left tackle. Excellent. Left tackle is out. You gotta bring the, um right tackle over to left tackle. The right guard has gotta now move to the right tackle position, And that means you got to bring somebody off the bench. The key is to make sure that they're going to be protecting pageant Mahomes and don't think that Todd Bowles and company aren't scheming to find out how they can capitalize on that one weakness. To protect the franchise quarterback that is going to be a serious examination comes Super Bowl Sunday as well, for sure, James Brown joining US JB and the gang at the Super Bowl today on February the seventh before Super Bowl 55 on CBS. I know there's a lot of hours to fill for you guys so Make sure it's consistent throughout the entire day, because we will be locked in for auto. Probably like 12 hours of coverage first. Hey, David, can I say thank you for reminding me of that? No long how no matter how long somebody might have been doing something, It's the big take going back to Tom Brady. It's basic That really count and he is master the basics. So I appreciate your reminder. Now, if you see one eyelid closed halfway shooting in. No. Tell me to put some eye drops in there. And I promise I'll respond. We're gonna lay the codes down around the studio. Get the jugs machines out for you guys. Make sure your loose getting ready to go and focus God. Thank you. Hi, Good morning, and you make some excellent points. And the one thing that the entire team can really rely on with Tom Brady is that he's going to be tougher than anybody. If you needed to starting, you know, if the guard was out, he thought he could help you play guard. I mean, he he a tackle, or whatever he he's really got that as far as fortune because of Packers did end up hitting him. Ah lot. They rocked him pretty well, and he still was able to hold on. And the thing that really comes down to is, I believe the new style offense and the new vial Stiles, an NFL team versus the older style and You know with kids are not kids, but with those guys being, you know, fast and quick and big. I think that spread offense forgot especially guy like my homes. Look what he did. With the Niners and our Super Bowl. He was able to stay tough, and that thing is almost impossible to stop because he's got people looking to catch the ball. You know, four or five different guys. They crisscross people. And I think that's that's gonna be. The difference in the civil War is, regardless If you have to be the racehorse offense, or just an offense that Children evens, I think hand said, he's gonna have the advantage. Well, that's one thing that the chief do so well. Thanks for the phone call Joe is that they can adjust their offense based on what is working for the day and if it is going deep and creating huge chunk plays in Tyree kill and etcetera off to the races. They could do that if it means that you just kill the opponent underneath. They could do that as they get bubble screens going and Travis Kelsey in the middle and they throw out of the backfield. They could do that if they want to run the football because that's what's working. They've had very good success doing that. It really doesn't matter. They could do whatever they want. And it all starts with Patrick Mahoney because you have to defend every square inch of the field. He's so athletic, and if something breaks down, he'll just scramble the first down. 13 14. That's my home for 15, and then they set up a new set of downs. He's devastating in that way..

"And I heard that and I said Come on March accent. Listen, I know you played with Reggie Miller and you played with Chris Mullin. And you've seen some great shooters. Okay? You are on the other bombs away. New York Knicks team. All y'all did was pop threes for for for Hubie Brown or Rick Pitino, Your pop threes. And guess what? Clay Thompson and Steph Curry. Might be one of the greatest shooters combinations of all time. And then they started to win. And then they won. And it was David versus Goliath. And and they had a Kevin Durant and it was just like, okay, the story is done. You think about what Tom Brady is done, or you even look at a Derek Jeter or you look at I'm thinking recent memory. You go at a Michael Jordan. It comes a point where everybody wants to see you get over the hump. And then when you get to the top of the hump People want to knock you off. People want to continue the story. People want to give somebody else a chance or choice. That's what happens in Tom Brady. He's still on the top of that damn hump. And his old ass hasn't fallen off yet. It doesn't look like he's going to do it soon. It's Tom Brady going to leave before Father time pushes him off, or is he gonna walk away before he gets pushed off? I think he's smart enough not to make a mockery of himself. I'm not surprised that what he's doing. Dale is calling from New Orleans. Dale you want CBS Sports radio. So what do you think? The room? Don't you think that the rules of the game? Has protected these guys. You know, I'm gonna date myself a little bit because I watched talking to him and Bradshaw star back play the rules of the game back then. Hold those guys. You better hearing that ball off, because when those guys hit you, they're going to hit you. And now because of the rules of the game just around the Drew Brees and Tom Brady time. Don't hit me here. Don't hit me here. Don't hit me below the waist. Oh, you can't touch my helmet. These guys have the rules have changed to allow these guys. To age to the 45 you know, Earlier caller talked about George Lander, but at the same time George Bland of Plato least 47. But the rules were different back, then. Imagine if those guys We're playing today with the rules today, man. They have career numbers. What I really want to see Well, Mahomes and Josh Alan won't actual dam. Dale, what you going on? Ah, real role here. Your point has been made and I agree with your point, And that goes without saying and it's not just the offensive explosion. It's It's no coincidence if you go ahead and take a look at some of the career passing numbers. It's littered with folks from the past 20 and 25 years. Forget 25 years. It's littered with names. Recent names because, yes, the game has certainly changed. So That goals without saying the entire game has changed. We know that the rules have changed. You can look at any sport here in the United States of America. If you want to look at the Big Three if you want to look at the Big Four The rules have changed. It's a more aggressive style. It's a faster style. And so I guess the answer the latter part of what you're saying It would not surprise me. As the game continues to change, and thank you, Dale for calling from New Orleans us. I'll put it to you this way. Simplest form. That Prescott had a whole lot more football play this season before he went out with his ankle injury. I believe he played what 4.5 games. He was on his way to a 6000 yard passing season 6000 yards. If I went back 20 years Great season by a quarterback would have him at half that amount. So Yeah, the game change. There's nothing that we could do about that. I think that's obvious that goes without saying You know, let me go ahead and let me take the skips that Bill Russell used to play in and let me put them on LeBron right now. Let me see how long LeBron would be able to play if he was running out there and some skips. Game changes is no doubt about that. But there's a lot of folks that still haven't lasted even in his own era. As long as Tom Brady has Guys are leaving three and four years prior to him. You got to give credit. Let's go some damn credit to Drew Brees to his own team. The charges at the time thought he was done. Chris is calling up from Michigan, Chris you on CBS Sports radio. Good evening, Jerry. Um God bless Tom Brady. But, man, I can not stand down, buddy. I'm not a Tom Brady fan. But I have respect for him. You know, he's kind of United States. I'll date myself. Also, he's he's Kenny Stabler to point out, you know, he's for the millennial version and just win, baby, you know, and it's just Its greatness to watch, you know, and you root against him. That's just basically it And, you know, God bless the game needs that hero that villain and and Tom Brady fix that perfectly so Um, you know, it's like you said. It's entertainment, so sure I'll leave it at that. No, it absolutely is. And thank you, Chris for calling up from Michigan. It's It's entertainment. It's big business. It's genius..

"Be quick. So that you didn't gent. Do we have the technology? Well, if you go close captioning, and you see, Marv is done or you're Margo darling, Let's keep calling and you hit it. And then when you see you ever with a period at the end of what he says Don't mind, Weber. Reminded him greatly as a player. He was a problem. Yeah. Hey, got great and Sacramento. He's a great passer, but he was a warrior. He was just too young and you just couldn't deal with him. How good without a team of Ben. You know, had we And the older, more mature Weber that arrived in Sacramento with Lottie and you know all that group Asia. They were good, but you don't You know you're not gonna come in as a as a rookie of even sure that he was a problem, but I don't mind. He never really adds much is a game broadcast. I loved him when they did the players only. Anyone in the studio. I thought he was really good on that much better when it was that he was the host of the show. He was good, much better. And then you got Harlan and Reggie on the second game, and the Lakers will get their rings. So there you go. Maybe other rings, John. That's just very short term. LeBron did to it out today that he was that he was getting the ring and that he was upset. Obviously, people couldn't be there. So it sounds like they're getting them. I mean, that was a quick turn around. Turn around Justin's Is that who is that? The company that usually does the ring something like that. I met the guy when he did the warrior ring A few years ago. He came on the air with us. Remember the word you said, like you could, like, unscrew the top of it or something. I remember I was playing with Lake ups, and I thought I broke it. I was like, Oh, sorry. Take the reins. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you could like I don't know you. It was like you hide something in there. Like what would you want to put the little that, Rick? I don't know. It could be good E knowing players. We wouldn't need a caboose. Pistol jammed. He just put it right there got to strip down their range. But at the top of it did come off it unscrewed or something. So I thought I broke it. I don't know. Wow, I know what the players have put in there and tell you that it's that's an easy one. Very simple. Very simple. S O. That is tonight. Christmas Day, By the way, it's a quick turnaround because of the start is tonight and then Christmas Day. The big one. You got the pelicans at the heat. You got the words in the second game against Yonas, and it'll be their second game of the season. By the way, Dave Pasch Hubie Brown on that one. Than Brooklyn, Boston, which we just on the preseason. Dallas and the Lakers after that, and the Clippers in Denver, So you know your he's waiting for Christmas. It's only a few days after and the words get them Milwaukee and then went to the first two national broadcast first one TNT. Second one ABC for the words, So they go. That's first two games and the Warriors are on Christmas, but they're not in America's spot. That's Luca and Dallas. Going into the game against James on won't be ring night. That's tonight. But game too, when the Warriors go early in the morning, So what a tough assignment to get Katie and Brooklyn and Kyrie Day they could be the best team in the East. They just took apart. Boston on Friday night, now was only a pre season game. But Brooklyn looks really good. And the other side of it is Steve Nash, coaching with Mike D'Antoni is an assistant coach. What a staff they have. And he had. Steve versus Steve. You got curve versus Nash, and they know each other. Well, obviously from Phoenix, and Steve was here is a Steve Nash, a developmental coach. And he thought, you know Kevin Durant, all those one legged lips he was doing and spinning around like an ice skater. Get a more balanced where Durant wasn't so top heavy, so that's gonna be Just a great coaching matchup with Steve versus Tia Steve Kerr verses Nash. Is going to be intriguing. And then the second game here, you gotta deal with the honest man like buttonholes heir who Steve Kurt knows well in the Milwaukee system and the addition of Drew holiday, so Take a split right now. To be honest with you, mostly of dream on Dream on is obviously not playing the night He worked a little bit on the side with celebrating yesterday, Steve said. But Who knows if he plays on Christmas, so That is a tough one. With those two games back to back to start the year. Two national games T O tip it off for the Warriors again tonight. Four o'clock, which I absolutely love. I love the early start. Then obviously we'll watch the Clippers and Lakers. Everything so basically from 4 P.m. the probably 10 P.m.. Then I'll probably watch the post game with the guys on TNT. So I'll just I'll put a big big guest spot in my couch tonight. Just from sitting there. It'll be nice looking forward ass indentation. Yes, yes, my ass for six hours already complaining that man you watch Way too much Forge. We already gotten that. Yeah, but she understands the one thing that we could do that most other guys can't. Obviously the most other people can't is I always fall back and it's my job. So you know, I try to do well with the other things and say, you know, I try to not watch sports all the sports that I need to watch it. And later I'll stay up. I'm like you all stay up and watch it later on the and Pat or something. And do that, And so I try to be, you know, interactive with the fan, but that you know that tonight's important even talked older. I should look tonight at six hours. I'm not gonna move. I apologize ahead of time. I'll try to build up some equity later. You know, with some other things, but, yeah. So what do you say last night during Monday night? Fuck she. That's what I get in my house. That's a great question, And I always give it tonight's a big game. I said tonight's Championship Championship game. Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers. We thought we're gonna go undefeated now. They could lose their last five regular season and go one and done what is wrong. I couldn't believe it. Iraklis Burger That offense looks with all the wide receiver talent. That they have They look completely disjointed. Not having James Caan on a running game, but they got Blake Snow going a little bit like it was a bad back. How bad was been in the first half really bad when you throw for 12 yards, I think it was in the first half. Is that also someone 12 years? You know what it is? It's a it's a division opponent. Knowing on its gentle Cincinnati's not having a great year, but they still know them and they were just jumping routes they knew or chewed you was gonna be, and I think he throws to Claypool too much. He had 19 yards in the first half board. Don't know. Is that bad? 7 16 great coastal is gonna join us. We're gonna coast sound like another Christmas gift. Her legal That's awesome. I mean, Christmas is Friday so we can't have Greg on Friday's coming up in five minutes will join us to 10 30. But Pittsburgh just looks. They look awful. I mean, they've got Indy Sunday at Heinz..

"It's like the bottom of the ninth, the last chance for the Rays out of Tampa to a comeback in this game six of the National American League Championship Series. Looks like the Astros lover more hate him. I love him for no other reason at this point, because Dusty Baker is the man in charge, managing that club. They lead 7 to 4 and will have come back from. I think it's a 30 deficit in a best of seven series, so there are two outs away from that. So I say, Go Dusty's Astros go. It's about the only time I'll root for them, generally speaking, so we'll see how it goes anyway. So we'll keep you abreast of that situation. Other stuff going on too, as always. And seems like about a week ago. It was a very unsettling conversation on a surprising outcome. Pretty much as described in Tim McGee sort of helped lay the groundwork for what was expected. Of the trip to Baltimore for those Cincinnati who day football Bangles and Joe Burrow still probably running for his life and flashing back to scary times facing, arguably, maybe not even arguably, Tim McGee. Welcome back. It's always good to talk to you. The postgame show would check Ludwig, of course and I used to put those pads on and get chased around by big fast. Extremely strong. Heavy dudes trying to take you down is a wide receiver for the Bangles. How you doing? I'm doing great man. It's look killing, but you know, that's what follows like here in the Midwest, particularly Cincinnati, Ohio. It's good football weather, right? It's good for what weather especially if you're sitting inside with a remote control and in front of your 75 inch TVs, investor thermostat, you know you don't get no better. No, that's a that's a good situation. Not quite with the big guys tried to chase you around, but the paychecks were different. Certainly I got to ask. Is this cult defense better than what they face with the Ravens last week for the for the Bangles? Because obviously we saw Joe Burrow rushed a whole lot and more. I think when you say better, I think they're probably going to be more motivated because obviously there record is not good at the Baltimore Ravens. So you know every game the win game for them. They can't do some of the things that you know. Baltimore kind of took their their foot off the gas. And although the difference was You're looking for that shot out the special. I thought it was funny. After I read the article where the D coordinator from the Ravens yelled across, and Zach Taylor for taking me You know what he described herself described of a cowardly acting kicking a field goal. But back to your question, I think you will see the The footprint has already been molded. So in in other words, they're going to blitz Joe Burrow until he proves that he can handle the blitz often like an animal. And they can execute no one that the other team is going to do it. So it's not going to be a revelation where we're going to sit up there and they're going to drop back in his own. They're going to come back for them to ever get me possibly can. He's tend to gay I'm Sterling 700 wlw Here, Tim with Chick Ludwig Postgame Show Bangles on cold Sunday afternoon here on 700 wlw. Cold dealt with some false positive test. Go deal Mako vid 19, and they had to lock down the facility at least for a little bit. Ah, how much of a concern or worry? Is that in the process I mean the bubbles not quite as good as what we saw with the N ba. On obviously the college and high school over the dealing with a lot of other issues. Mohr involved in this particular one. How does that affect going in dealing with business on a game day Sunday if at all? It happened because number one of a player you so regular mint. I mean, you do the same thing over and over and over again, and a lot of players are very superstitious. And they all wear the same T shirt, walked the same direction and eat the same meal at the same time, go to the same car go in the same car, same statement saying, way think by their wives the same way so Yeah, it can and will have a fact. Now it will be more of a problem for the travel team. And unfortunately, that's the Bangles because the uncertainty Around. What? What could possibly happen to them? You know, still and they could cancel this game an hour before the game. We're gonna play it on Tuesday. And if that happens now, the jingles are in a quandary where they're going to be staying either Stand up in there the map with an extra day or they or they don't come back and go back up there, So it's you know, it's very uncertain, but the toughest part is we knew. This was possible, but it's not fair to the teams that it gives an advantage, too. In this particular case, I really think the coach who probably didn't need more vans will gain more advantage by the uncertainty that comes around the football game. Tim McGee, I have to ask you if we've talked about the issue of different schemes, plans for offense. Defense is different Coaches come in into an organization. And you're often left with pieces in parts preexisting a talent. Let's just call it what it is that I don't recall having so many Bangles. And maybe I missed it. You being a locker room and living that life for a while you may see it differently, but vocally upset and unhappy with how they're being used or not used to this particular point. In this Bangles team, an organization now Well, you know, the one in cures all loose and exposes all and after a certain period of time you came in and let's just go. We got to call a spade a spade. They hired the young guy. And the comparison the day suitors. Shula is just absolutely scared, super duper nice to die that you want him to succeed in the worst possible way. However, when you look at the football resume when you look at his history, it doesn't reflect will give the hope that one would have needed. But you've given us giving him a chance. You should give him a chance. The honeymoon is over. Now you're hitting the ground was inside the lock Ward. The culture is not there The trust isn't there now, your players when you look at this 50 plus million dollars of the cap. Right now, and they're getting between a day and the reader and the forget the corner that they signed and Carlos Dunlap, right, you know, and Gino active. They're not getting any productive on bill. Now. It wasn't. It wasn't like these guys were no pro players prior to these Coaches get in there, so you have to look at it. It's one of the old situations when You compare the Bengals the one team in particular The Baltimore rate, the Baltimore Ravens custom I an offense and they pretty much the team concept off of a superstar player in that Lamar Jackson. You have this clash of egos problem inside the locker on work, but coaches want their systems. To succeed. We're going to win by my systems and the old regime that we're going to win by the players, and that's probably what you have inside the locker room, but Where many of sources have. Obviously, the players are now getting their message out. I heard this last year, but now they're finding different ways to be able to communicate how unhappy they are on both particularly the defense the size of the ball, but also on the offense inside Tim McGee in this situation that Z, you gotta manage egos. You get you. You obviously wanna win and you don't wanna waste talent, But you've got to see which pieces and parts are there. Which leads me to the question about a J. Green, who had issues with that hamstring. I mean, we've seen when he's out there and healthy. He's magical and just spectacular toe watch. They've been talking, You know, in the press anyway, maybe lost a step this that or the other thing. How do you see him? Moving ahead is that that they're covering him that much better or or is there something else going on there? Because for that offense to click, especially now because it's ah Alton Tates looked at to be either not likely to play on Sunday or is already not going to play. Okay, number one. We got a look at how it's being used Right and number two. Let's get half the health issue, okay, because you could bring a pair like that along. There's no question about that. Let's look at his production, as in Hubie Brown said it best the O N. BA coach. Seven. It is the coach's job. To get your star players open because everyone within the stadium was in the other Coaches organization knows where the ball's going. It is your job to figure out a way to utilize his talent. Every start there, Whether it's Julio Jones. Whether it's Oh, Dae bak on their back, Junior, they get the ball norm. They're going to be double covered. Now the best measurable toe that sterling will always be the fact that a day green is still so prominent and the Bengal offense as an officer of threat, he still drawing the number one Defensive back the number one court cover corner is guarding. They've a green that does it all to me..

"Wherever the minute they get close, let me pose this question. Do we think that Like I don't like the notion of Stan Van Gundy coaching Brian. And like all those young players in New Orleans. I know this is an extreme version of that Tony LaRussa is not just nostalgia or a relic. He won a World Series in Oakland. You want to ST Louis? He's been around the game still every day. And I know the other side of that is he hasn't travelled with a baseball team with daily basis or tried to exert his own brand of influence on 20 something he hasn't done that for more than 10 years. So I see the I don't know. I feel the conflict here. But I don't know that the answer is easy is missing. I we've heard a couple of people say, Listen, he would be he would open his mind to analytics the way the game is played. Now it's already open. He's already open analytics. I mean, the last time he managed was 2011 and I don't think analytics for playing his bigger role then is they are now they weren't but he's also we've been told that he would be very much open to the style of play. We're guys, you know, are having fun and showing more personality and everything like that. I just think it's really It's really interesting to me to see the dynamic because Rick Hahn met the media when they decided to move away from Ricky Regnery and said, Hey, listen, we're going to focus on someone who has recent championship experience, so everyone considered it was Cora or was hinge. Right. I mean, Tony won the World Series, but it was 2011. That's not recent. And I just wonder after Rick Hahn has done such a fantastic work. If the fact I would, I would I would love to know how he feels. Truly about the concept ofthe Tony LaRussa being the manager of the baseball team. He's working for an owner. Look, this happens all the time in every sport. And so the contrast may not be the stark, but I could think of basketball teams this year with general managers. You know, President of Vacuum all that I know personally. I know they got a balance their own desires off being a GM with the only desires and what the owner thinks is the best thing that's happened this conflict. Almost always in play more than 50% of the time, right? This time you bring up a great point. What is he truly think about this? How much rope where they're going to give Tony How long would they go with this? Um, is Jerry gonna wake up and say Wait a minute. I can't do this. Jerry and Tony gonna sit down and have a conversation now that he has, if he truly has his permission, are they going to decide what Doug Collins and Jerry decided? That's what it sounds good when they first talked about it, But maybe it's not the greatest idea in the history of that's what I think is ultimately gonna happen. I still can't wrap my arms around Tony LaRussa as the manager of the White side. I have. I have a hard time with it when I was hurt, and whatever it was 40 hours ago, even harder down with today and then I was crying. I was okay when in the history Hubie Brown came back. He was like 69. You want 50 games with Memphis? Hubie was great. I know they don't want a championship. Hubie was great. When he came back to 59. He would thought basketball being what we're used to the more valued I mean, he advocated basketball coaches is definitely lower younger than the average age of baseball managers. Um Jim Leland came back the women Detroit. I mean, he came back anyone. He went so engine. Leland wasn't 70. I mean, he wasn't but he was He was closing in on it. We've seen this work. In both baseball and basketball, You know, I don't know that that's never really worked in football. But man, it's intriguing. Again. How are those guys going to take? Theresa. Are they going to allow him to lead them and provide whatever missing ingredient? Khan and his staff didn't think Was there an existence between rent Sharia energy? Look, we know that these these these lengths of managerial stints don't go for a decade anymore. But, Teo, if I'm the White Sox, I'm still looking for 567 years. Two pair this manager with these great players and a win a world Siri's go to the postseason often maybe get Mohr and at 76. I mean, you're telling me that You, Rick unsaid that he doesn't want to start this and stop it and have to find a new manager in the concept that we have a little Jerry has to say yes. And everything is Sylvia. I'm not going for 678 years anymore. I mean, you look it. I mean, you know, the couple did it successfully? Yes, it was You would. We all think the Cubs They have one more trip to the World Series out of this group. But, you know, they're not gonna have But I don't know. Maybe 345 years. I don't think I don't think 67 years in play. I didn't even play when it worked, Mike, I hear of 2021 doesn't go better that Rossi's out Li E Li is back in. That's what I'm here. When I'm here long as we get eyes only have a couple of Lance. I might be for that Lelia ramp. So, yeah, this is but Now. Is there any real talk? I just heard somebody on ESPN talk about the beard. Liv E. On bill of any thought that The Bears. You know, I was explaining the Matthew, he said the media today not understanding the history of a franchise and how football that seems to play more like the Steelers is a continuum. If you will, a personality that exist in football, much more so than any other sport, except for maybe the Celtics Lakers in basketball, But the.

"The last Lakers title back in 2010 and all of the storylines from Jeannie Buss and during the hostile takeover from one of her brothers and having to with Stand that Frank Vogel, being the third choice is an MBA coach to coach. This Laker team wanting that respect getting the championship from where we stood, societally. I'm gonna be honest with the custody. I did not think the MBA could pull this off. I thought the challenges from a social justice perspective in the country and the pandemic would make it impossible. So kudos to them and then finally, LeBron James is the greatest player of his generation. There is no question about that. We will let the fans decide. This will be great fodder for debate. But I know this Been an absolute privilege for me to have covered almost the entirety of his career and yet another championship 2003 right out of high school and delivered in his first game for the Cavaliers against Sacramento on to the playoffs in the second year. I came back to get that Cleveland Championship in 2016, but now for old told in P J. You know the blood, the sweat and the tears that goes in to a championship season multiple times in your years in San Antonio, one of these Lakers feeling Or that they're just so enormously proud, and this year, I mean, usually it takes eight or nine months to get to this point, and it's really you celebrate your happy but when you're standing there and you know the interview's going on, you think of a way back in the beginning of the year in a training camp, and everybody puts their hands in it. So, yeah, we're going to win a championship this year. In reality, there's only 45 or six teams could realistically believe that and Miami heat are not one that I think anybody else would have said We're going to be here, but they're here and they deserve to be year and Teo. Go through the journey that the late this is one of the toughest ones ever. I don't want to read or hear anybody ever say this is in any way, shape or form less of a championship than any other one. This's mohr of a championship. It took took longer What thes teams had to endure in this bubble, and the commitment they made. The Los Angeles Lakers should be enormously proud. I'm sure they are. It's such a relief when you get back in that locker room. I'll be hugging each other, and they look into each other's eyes and the realization will come in. This is the last time really there together as a team, yet there'll be parties and things like that. But it's the last time they're gonna lace up and really play together. And sometimes is it really hits you home when you're in the locker room after you celebrate Frank Vogel? Yes, it was you the third choice. I don't know Whatever it was. I got news for you. If it hadn't come together as well as it had, Frank would have gotten a lot of the blame that people would have said he did it. He didn't do a good job. He did an exceptional job. In partnership with LeBron James and I'm so proud of Frank and the job that he did 47 years old supposed 49. He's going to be 50 next month. We saw it too. Excellent young coaches bring two great teams together in these finals. We do have a bit of business to take care of tonight's more driven player of the game. I always ask you guys just LeBron James with a triple double for his fourth championship brought to you by Goodyear helping you discover the road ahead. Goodyear more driven. It's a great pivot you mentioned LeBron James Doors is going to be 36 in late December, and we keep waiting for that prime to come to a close. All he did in these finals was average A hair under 30 points, almost 12 rebounds. 8.5 assists. He shot 59% from the field 42% from three point range, throwing a little defense there and, well, it's Remarkable what he's still doing in your number. 17 think about at the end with the end of the Denver Siri's when Jamal Murray was lighting up the Los Angeles Lakers, and he said, All right, I got him and he said you, everybody else stay home. He I think went a long way toward helping Anthony Davis understand what's required from the lead guy because there's no question he was the lead guy. You could absolutely make the case that Anthony Davis could have been M V P The bottom line was every time there was a required big shot. Big play big pass. It was LeBron James. And he said something with Rachel in the postgame interview that I thought was crucial. Availability to your teammates is critical, and nobody knows that better than PJ. Carlesimo, who has been a longtime coach at the highest level collegiately and professionally, PJ. I am in awe of this man's durability. And he doesn't know Dorsey doesn't thinkit's a coach's cliche, but people don't understand. I'm not taking anything away from Anthony Davis. The numbers were magnificent, but What LeBron does that A lot of other superstars have not done And I don't know that anybody has ever done. It is well, he makes his teammates better. That's that's really an art to do that. There's guys that score. A lot of points will get a lot of boards and do this and do that, and they help you win. I'm not belittling them. That's not like somebody who's a great player leader and makes his teammates better. LeBron James always makes his teammates better. One final thing If I may before we close out the embassies in here we have spent the better part of weeks and months here in the bubble, PJ. I know you've had one of the longer runs doors. You've been here for months. A cz well. I wanna shout out Sean Kelly, who was here doing play by play for much of it. John Barry as well, who was here? Al Rosenberg engineer who was here earlier on the seeding games. John Madani and Bob Lighter here is well, Beth and Beth favor producing. Thank you. Can we shout out the great Hubie Brown who absolutely would love to have been a part of this and obviously made the right choice? Not With the Hall of Fame where has affected more generations of basketball people on more confidence than we can even consider And so shout out to the great Hubie Brown 22 teams came here. One champion, the Lakers zero positive tests. Remarkable. I'm gonna have trouble putting it all in perspective. It may take months. It could take years. We're in a land of uncertainty right now. We don't know when the next MBA season is going to start when the Lakers can begin defense of their title or what? It's gonna look like an old marinas. Four bubbles, but this was a remarkable job by the embassy. Put this on and pull it off and have it look and sound as good as it had it was. It was really special. Echoing with your door said to be a small part of it and working with you guys, especially. We Had some rounds ago. Way had a couple glasses of wine and some wings and it's been great. It really has. Even though John Madani is a taskmaster. It was fun..

"That's a no shot. Wait. Hubie Brown did the same thing. He was out of basketball all those years, right because I'm coming back. And he goes and does Memphis for like three years. It's coach of the year. 50 Plus wins. I think every year he was there makes a bunch of money and then and then retired. I went back to Broadway, so I don't know. I understand why you couldn't do that. Yeah, I'm not coaching again. Ah, White Sox fans. Are you pleased today with your team 3123323776. Hey, This is me. The Cup fan who Has adopted them as my second team. Clearly second but still rooting for them. I even had money on them yesterday. And by the way, Thank you. Thankyou points back for the free money yesterday. I bet on Tim Anderson to have two hits. He got three Thank you. Thank you. That was a great one. Mindy's gonna be worried about that last conversation. But you're thinking about coaching again. You got a call from a navy. This is like, five years ago. Hey, Would you be interested in this job? It was like a mid major job. And I went, Let me think about it and I came home. I said, Hey, hon, I got a call from She knows that so And so do you Think of that, she said Good luck. Have fun living there. I'll come See you once in a while on the weekend, and I am not living with coach on her dad was the coach because I'm not doing it. Alright. I'm like I'm out. Well, listen with the White Sox season being over. I love that the stock give their best effort. I didn't have Ah, a lot of expectations for this team this year. I'm just glad with the expanded playoffs, that the stocks were there because that young core gets a taste of what it's like in the postseason. That pressure right there just three games. Point is, though, is that now this young core says Okay, Now I know what to do and focus in when we get to the playoffs. I love watching Jose Abreu you that was the right move. It's a such an unready moved by Ricana. I wanted this era's Konerko. I believe he brings that leadership, especially to the Latin ex players in that locker room. So I love that Jose's with this team. I was teen friendly deal three years, three years, three years. It's fine for a guy who's going to be either first space or D h. He's this year's kanar coz I love you Have Andrew von there If I was a Sox fan, and I am as I said, they're my second team because I'm a cub fan, first and foremost. I would wake up today and go well, that sucked yesterday because I really wanted to make a run. But we didn't give up any of our assets to get a third starter. I'm not shocked that were out Oakland as a really good team. We were on the road. Were banged up. Yeah, I'm in a good place because I think we're gonna add on in the off season, guys, They're going to get better kopecks coming back. We got a chance. Yeah, I'm excited as a fan, absolutely. As a White Sox fan waking up this morning, and yeah, it was a bitter pill to swallow yesterday to see the Sox lose. They beat themselves in a lot of ways to though when you strand 12 runners on base, 3 to 14 runs score position. I mean, that just won't work that just won't do. But then the cha cha line of pictures that came out there. That's what happens when you don't really have a really third starter as we talked about early if you're just joining us going to find out that day and Dunning and you could see it for yourself. Stunning. Dunning did not have it because, Well, maybe Dunning's arm just wasn't strong enough. Alright? Yeah, you could see it yesterday. Correct. You could see it. So cease wasn't the answer because he was in the bullpen the day before, Correct. Okay, So you know, it's gonna be a bullpen game is just unfortunate. The way everything laid out again. Not getting it. Don't run in your position. Pictures coming in there, not being able to get it done and and the season's over. But it's OK though, because to me the windows wide open. See that socks curtain flying through that window. That's how that I look at the socks for the next Five plus years, Tom in Belmont. Hi Tae town. What's up, man? Hi, Phyllis. Always appreciate listen to guys in the morning. Appreciate you. I wanted to say that the attacks will really regret not changed. McCann. I just really feel like it by, you know, and that's It's terrible. How much would you be willing to give him? Well, you know, I'm thinking he might get $50 million from some of the club. But I think 30 to $40 million would be a decent especially with this corn of covert 19 stuff. Maybe he was would go for that. Yes. See if and appreciate your call town. Here's my take a James McCann. I would love to see him Stay with the white sock. Yes, we can can Yes, we can can can James McCann can Life. Colvin might might help them get him in a more manageable number, because if it was just normal times Everyone's looking for starting catcher that could catch that has a great report with his pictures and can hit He would get. Probably if Yasmani Grandal got 18 year. Last year for for 73. James McCann is going to get every bit of four for 60. And you can't have 33 million tied up in two catchers. I know it's really the odd might help. It's a tough conundrum, though, because whatever you pay for him, you're like, Wow, I'm paying this much for a backup catcher. That's a hard sell to Ryan's Dorf of your Rick on and and I'd love mechanic. This team. Because to me besides, being a really good catcher gives you something a pop. Offensively, that's not necessarily always home run power, but on base percentage. Keep the line moving That guy and we're grondahl. Just a good framer, but at a great catcher. And you know, even the yesterday's game. His glove was out there too far against La Stella Still had to take first base is just, you know, Tommy improved a three in one in playoff games that he's gotten a catcher's interference. Yeah, yeah, I just that those the things but ultimately the Ms was the Mazar deal having incarnation. I don't even know I liked some of the power numbers the average but you know the big golf in the room. She's right, Serena. That's a big deal. I think that the socks have to upgrade that position. If you really are serious about trying to be a real contender to go for this thing, I just think there's some guys in a major league baseball. So guys in coaching these say that guy's in a big, big guy. He could sell a culture but now let's go over here and get the real guy. I told you before I wanted Gerardi before took the Philly job. That's what I wanted, but that's not gonna happen. So the one thing I would tell you is and again. I know everyone's all over Rick Renteria. I have not been as Vocal against him as the fan base as you have been He didn't walk nine guys yesterday. They have to be better than take the next step again. I understand. There are people that question some of his strategic moves. Mr T jury, I get it. I'm just telling you At the end of the day. You can't go three for 14 with men on base. You care in scoring position? You can't Walk nine guys. It falls at the feet in the end, as it always does at the players. It's not Anthony. I posies fault that the Cubs aren't hitting won't change hitting coaches for the 78th time. I'll tell you that. It's not on the hitting coach. It's on the freakin highly paid talent to deliver. If you make them move in the off season. That's the guy that you have moving forward for this corps. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. 3123323776. He's hoody. I'm cap. We're talking baseball and the Bears comment, But we're talking baseball Cubs will play today at 108 against the Miami Marlins. "I asked ESPN MBA analyst Jay Williams earlier today. What a title. This particular title would mean toe LeBron James. This game is just not about basketball. This is a game of life, so I really do think that this will be his greatest accomplishment with what he's been able to do to make people more actively involved and becoming informed about. Moaning. He's also carrying the torch for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. He's carrying that weight. This would be one the most incredible things have ever seen. An athlete straight talk wireless. No contract. No compromise Lakers by 20. It's only game one we know back to Orlando here. Game one kept big for LeBron James, one and eight in Game ones of N BA finals in his career, James on the floor, still with the Lakers up 2095 75 9 54 to go here in the fourth quarter. Take LeBron out unless they put a little run together. Here put Miami away has seen them come back many a time. Here in the bubble more skips the pass across the cosmos in the right corner up top to James LeBron holding LeBron dribbling back with six to shoot gives it up. Morris Left side three is good, eh? NBA Finals record. 14 3 pointer for the Lakers after missing 15 in a row. Mark Moore's finally knocks one down. 98 75 Los Angeles 9 20 to go here in the opener of 2020 n Ba finals. Solomon Hill drops it for Olynyk left the circle goes to the right side and sends it to him to shoot missed everything on a deep jumper LeBron coming down the other end of the floor, James hesitates at the three point line finds great open in the corner. Mr three rebounded by Olynyk. The only thing prohibiting him from getting a triple double missed open shot from Misty. Maybe he could have had 33 assists. Last three passes, and they missed all three. Got a great pass. Iguodala downloaded Kendrick None on the nun with Lay up. 98 77. Miami still trailing the Lakers, not making a strong case for more playing time. 8 36 to go. Here's James has passed to Caruso Block, No fouled by Olynyk. I was trying to keep Caruso from getting the easy to also denied James ninth assist of the night with a 34 to go in Game one. Number two on Kelly Olynyk. Caruso had a chance to speak with him yesterday, but he has really turned himself into a really good off the bench MBA player just his third year here at Texas A and M is the great advert personally for hard work because he deserves everything he's getting, But he's a great advertisement for Really with the league spent some time with the Oklahoma City blue and more time with South Bay Lakers, and as he said he learned how to be a pro. And it's paid off about Frank Vogel called Elite Star Level defensive player because of the number of things he could do and grope in college station watching Billy Gillespie and Mark Sturgeon, he said. They played gritty. They played tough. I thought that's the way it's supposed to be done with the shadows of Texas A and M played college ball there hit two free throws here in his first finals game. 99 77 Lakers baseline jumper. None hits another 1 13 off the bench. Kendrick, none with a 20 to go here in the fourth. Good for him, So I said, I think I said Sturgeon Park thinking. I think we're ready for dinner. Perhaps 99 79 Lakers lead by here is a day in a double passes outside James drives puts it up on the left hand short tipped out. Crowder's got it for Miami. Down 20 other heat with eight minutes to go in Game one Olympic baseline, right, tried to hit the cutting hero missed it, but Solomon Hill ends up cutting down, grabbing it and putting it in. Vogel's turned his pledged Rajan Rondo in Please get this thing under control for us. James finds Casey at the free throw line back to James download a stripped and filed underneath the basket. They will shoot apparent with 7 39 to go here in the fourth quarter. Well, that's one way to get it under control instead of burping up threes. If they start going inside, particularly Anthony Davis, that'll take care of business. Second foul on Solomon Hill is Anthony Davis goes to the line with 30 points. You want to say hello to our old pal Hubie Brown. I know he's listening from The Atlanta Georgia area. We've had a chance to have you be obviously on our air finals after finals over the years didn't come down into the bubble for obvious reasons. And I know he's missing it here tonight. So we want to say a big Hello. Did you see back home? The man has affected more generations of basketball people on more confidence than any living person and personal shot up to boot, for always being willing to answer my basketball questions. We miss A legend is missing it, but we're missing a lot more just turned 87 recently A Zadie It's the first free throw second one Good 32 for Anthony Davis and his finals debut, coming off a Western Conference finals debut, in which he averaged 31 points a game. There's none for three a heat check. Miss LeBron James ends up with the rebound with 7 25 to go one on 1 81 Lakers Rondo bounce past James, who throws it down 103 81 James with 19 points tonight. Butler a pie for Miami Goto Olynyk ball fakes on the three takes a step in with dribble now out to Hill Hill from the left to Olympic will trigger a three missing badly to the right. Two point Laker lead with seven minutes to go back in there. Those grants finds a one power dribble goes up. Blocked by Olynyk. "How does this excuse applied for every waking moment? She's a big time recruits. I mean, what do you want me to tell you? Someone's going to talk finances there that someone has made the bare minimum that you could do is take five minutes to see how a game and it's like, Oh, gee, you gave us got. You couldn't have given us less information. And you invented a controversy that didn't exist. What is the controversy that you imagine regarding the inbound? Go ahead. Tell me what you imagine to be. The controversy of the inn back this is the only thing that happened. You asked me about it inbound pass, which no one would ever ask me about. I mean, what does anyone ever ask about inbound pass? They're benign. The greatest inbound pass in the history of inbound pass there, Enough totally understand that, But I had to guess. One of two ways. The greatest inbound pass in the history of in bad Vance's or controversy could do this another way. Okay, even though he's already admitted the lie that he wasn't watching any Have it. What happened off the bare minimum? Thank you. Well, put just some of random money, some of it. This is how your career is going to end. Whatever it does in with you just going a little bit of the maximum laziness that you can have it. Someone who works in sports for a living is tell me something that happened in the last five seconds of that game. Tell me some of the rafters of the Rapture Celtics game. What happened in the light? You don't have to pay attention to anything but the last five seconds of a basketball game. Tell me what the situation was. Tell me what happened. Washington has the ball and what Boston has the ball. Bad turnover. Okay, Raptor Air down Sue. They did a three to save their season in Bam! Past the greatest inbound pass in the history of inbound passes Toe. Oh, Ji hoo! It's a three game over Raptor. All right, So this nailed it. No, Let's try it again. What is happening with five seconds left in the basketball game between Boston and Toronto. What's the score? What's happening? I think it's 102. Maybe 103101. I'm not looking at anything right now. Boston is up. They're not up to because bought the rods are needed a three to win, but the game is tied. Boston has the ball. Also Boston hits too. But how? What happened with the two? I believe it was Jason Tatum. I believe with the thing that was one of his five makes on. Okay, You got lists. I'm guessing the best guy. I mean, I could go to the box score, but I wanted to do this honest with you guys. All right, well, starting over nearly this's where you choose, to be honest, Interesting time. Alright. What you missed in the last five seconds of the game is a paid professional who doesn't have to end. Do anything except the bare minimum of paid attention. The last five seconds of the game is Kemba Walker, making one of the greatest passes you will ever see to get an easy shot in that situation that no one gets in a tie game right at the rim Final five seconds and come back time and then he makes it on its cardiac MBA 5/10 of a second left in the game. And now Nick Nurse calls a play that Hubie Brown that he learned from Hubie Brown, and the third option in the corner is the aforementioned Abdel Nabi bigshot on DH. What ended up happening is that they involve Kyle Lowry, who says he has balls of steel and bounded over. The 7 FT five taco fall who played 5/10 of a second in the game and was minus three. You have for those to a defendant didn't defend it. Because Kyle Lowry terrible job. Ta Curtis. Ladies and gentlemen. Terrible job Manabe shot If you would have just said the name taco fall. Yeah, it's ago. You would have been like, all right. You want state? We're good Christian controversy. I gotta be honest. I enjoyed the last five minutes. He went controversy. The controversial inbound hold that Let's sell some ad. I'm gonna swore I saw something with controversy. Inbounds pass way, just skimming the notes and reading them poorly. Ladies and gentlemen still got the worst of this. Tell him about advance auto parts. Advance auto parts. We appreciate their support. They have been great two hour show. Diehard batteries are like the rare breed of athlete that Zoe plays with a lot of power. But you could also depend on to be their game after game always there. "That was better than then his then his morning cup. He's infectious energy. You'd only appreciate everybody who got a chuckle there, But I said everybody who wrote it. If it wasn't for you guys. It was for me, too. I was laughing my ass off. It was same spear that got me to maybe down. I mean, I was telling coach when we went to break there, so money we have so many that I was thinking the ones we didn't use. Like. Well, we barely scratched the surface like Greg Cosell with his just outrageous maniacal Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right. So a little bit too. Ah was going We got to get ready for Sam Spirit. Seven AM, but a little bit to what was going on last night. So we're talking about the basketball? No. You know what this is how it'll stay? Hearted Polly because I said, Did you watch the basketball and you said No. Did you And I said No. I had to be in a back to school, a teacher night thing on zoom, which is funny, But I did wind up back tracking and catching up on everything. And so I'm gonna go. Here's my superlative statement. Kyle Lowry's inbound pass, I think is without question. A crowd of the single greatest inbound pass in the history of basketball ate away can be our You know it can be are the only other one that comes to mind to me. It's not as good, but it's the Duke Kentucky inbound pass to Christian Leitner. But other than that, I think I defy anyone to come up with a weather inbound pass, and I'm thinking if you were a Celtics fan, this is like a broken play that it was a turnover, but still, if you're a Celtics fan, you'd probably said like the deejay stealing the ball on the inbound. These are breaking up. Yes. Marlin and Larry Bird kind of repeated. No, no, was ah, a feed birds, birds. Birds stole the ball. But the original was Havlicek. Oh, yeah, that's good. That's in terms of breaking up in down passes for sure. Bill Walton of you, By the way, I feel like Bill Walton comes in with a lot of like Rick Fox is the best inbound pass wasn't really I don't know what we measured that, but I was like, I thought later to like if we were going to measure that, just because of the impact of it, it's a game winner. But really, it's this shot right here. Here's the whole catch on that Leitner thing that Kentucky time after They were not guarding the inbound. That's it. They won't turn the embedded inside that it was game winner. Everything changed after that. They put a man on the inbound guy. And then the idea of putting taco fall on there is just It's bulletproof. Well, then how do you How do you know how you could get a Passover tacos? By the way? That's the things if you get it under his arm or something on a bounce to the corner, or, you know you hit a guy of top I'm like, Okay, so that beats and because he's trying to keep it from going over across court before you let the past go over your head and absolute. You have one job and housing, not leaving his feet disrupting the mark of that. I didn't disrupts the arc of it. Bite by one tip. You're out of time. Now you're out of time. I couldn't I couldn't know there's also to dispute after the game. They said that the play was not designed for him because it looked and did you see, Nick Nurse said that he got it. This is this made my morning Little MIB sent this to me on Twitter. I knowyou're Hubie head because Nick nurse said after the game that he got the play from an old 2008 Hubie Brown DVD. Awesome. Alright which listen Yeah. Hubie Brown to me. I want to be brown DVDs just for fun. We have President Wei have a presidential election coming up in November. And I know a lot of people are reviled by both choices. Get around. How about if I put Hubie Brown on the platform right now? All right. I'm in no problems. What about me? I don't even care what his policies are. I trust him about Brown Spear 2020. All right. Hayley and Samurai got my vote. But anyway, so soon it nurse said he got it. There it is again. It's a stutter step. Before he fully committed to make their city got it from a Hubie brown DVD. But then the other one's Kyle Lowry said he was not even supposed to be looking for a G and an over he was supposed to be looking for was a very, very good. Hey, almost actually, then freed actually kind of sprung free for a half a second, but I think he might have. If he waited, he might have gotten called for the five seconds I'm going to do a 30 for 30 on that play, And I mean it. I mean, if they if they win the serious well in the catches in, Can we throw Kemba Walker now onto the what? I like to call that Josh Hamilton pile. Of the and the or the Julio Jones Super Bowl catch pile, copes and Polly of the greatest athletic moments that get obscured by a bigger one a moment later. In the in the Patriots Falcon Super Bowl. Julio Jones makes it one of the best catches I've ever seen in my talks about it, though not on a third and long Polly, too, and he keeps his feet inbounds in time. It might have been the game winning play right, but we know what happened, right? Right and then in the Cardinal's Rangers world, Siri's when the Rangers had that thing all sewn up until David Freeze hit a triple. To force extras. Josh Hamilton and homers for the Rangers and the next inning, And at that point, I thought that was going to be one of the greatest baseball stories of all time. Remember, remember, he he was He was a drug addict. He was woke up on his grandma's porch, sleeping on his underwear or whatever, and then he was going to become You know Kirk Gibson world Siri's hero actually is going to be a serious clinching home run like Mazeroski. Yeah, until the Cardinal's came back and one of these moments to the other one I've brought up because I was at this game. Was the J T snow home run against the Mets. Perfect. Yes, exactly like that back the moment that was like one of the first big moments in that yard, and then they lost the game. Can I give you another one moment when I would go even even further back? You go to games since you go. Sean Dunstan hit the home, run down the names on the kid, and I think that's it, man. This is the moment and it's a crowning moment. It's It would have been such a great story. Yahtzee. Well, that's Kemba Walker's past You it insane Thie! Why did he beat like four guys on the dribble behind the He's not even looking, and he throws a bounce pass with his right hand the other direction like Stan Van Gundy, doing the broadcasts, just thinking like a coach the whole time instead of praising Walker for that play, all he could do if you go back and listen to the commentary, he just can't believe. See Aacm came off his man. He's like he's like Sepp CCF. Siachen stays on his man. The whole play doesn't happen. He's like total coachspeak, you know, like, Oh, my God would've played by Campbell. You like See if you stayed with your man, he would have been open, but he's right if Siaca mad, stayed with ease. But see how come got drawn in by walkers, penetration and Ah, and then Walker makes that incredible pass. But it gets obscured, buddy. So the one having you back in the bubble, Dude, it's fun Having Earthlike be interested in basketball again for a while, there was nobody to connect with on the show..

We've got a big show coming up for you on a Wednesday before the holiday weekend. We've got a lot to get to, including mothership at the movies. Yes. On Wednesday mornings, we always take another American sports film. Break it down from a sports angle on aspect dig in. To the granular level of said movie and really get inside all of the corners. So fully flesh out the sports side over these films, And today we do the 1993 classic the sand locked A fantastic movie. Ah, Group of kids based in the sixties, a nostalgic, wistful time where this young group of misfits played baseball in a sand lot every single day and their adventures through the summer. Are documented here, so we'll do the sand Lot Parts one in parts to starting an hour. Number three mothership at the movies leads off our number three and continues in our number four. Also, NASCAR's number 38 car John Hunter, Neema, Check the young John Hunter Nemecek is going to join us coming up here on the show and our number four as well. Also this morning. We've got some rankings out over the current NFL head coaches or the young bucks better than a guy that has won a Super Bowl and gone to another. Also, we've got stunned to a news. We've got the immortal Marv Albert and Hubie Brown in the news. We've got a champ and a chump, a cz Well and Could Spencer Torkelsson give the Detroit Tigers Osama juice? That's all coming up this morning on the show? As always, you can connect with us on Twitter, DEA on CBS or on the phones at 855 to 12 for CBS. But let us begin in the NFC South. Because just a couple of days ago, Matt Ryan made news Couple of days ago, Matt Ryan was asked who the best quarterback in the NFC South is now the NFC South, of course. Has now two Future Hall of Fame. Ear's in it, and who knows about that? Ryan, where he ends up in his career, But with Tom Brady heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Drew Brees still in New Orleans and Teddy Bridgewater, now signing a big deal in Carolina. There's some really steady rock solid quarterback play that division. I think it's in arguable that the best division in football for quarterbacking is the NFC South. No other division Has two future Hall of Famer in it that are still as effective as Brady and Brees and add on top of that another Super Bowl quarterback and former NFL MVP in Matt Ryan. But the Falcons and Matt Ryan, of course, have never won a Super Bowl. Matt Ryan had a 28 23 lead of the third quarter of a Super Bowl. I'm sure Falcons fans would prefer me not bring this up, but That wass the peak, the apex so far of Ryan's career, he was the MVP. That year, there were the number one seed. They went all the way to the Super Bowl and held that extraordinary lead in the third quarter, of which Widow. They blow it. But when you look at this Matt Ryan's caught a lot of heat for this suggestion, but is there's some truth there? Because look, Tom Brady's 43 years old And you have.

"CBS Sports Radio. The question at M and M W The MBA is restarting July 30th. So who do you get the Lakers, Clippers, Bucks or the field? Let's go to Vince in Philadelphia of its Europe first here on this moose and Maggie Sunday session. How are you? Hey, What's up, guys? To me? I have these field. I think when you Ah, Besides all the time off, now, you take away the two biggest factors that Typically the top seeds have which are Home court, which is more important in a basketball than any other sport, and you take away that home court fans and now you take away that travel. I think it's wide open. I'm going. I'm going today. Boston. I think to me Boston is going to win it all. I think they They got hot down the stretch. They finally got their healthy. They have time to rest. Brad Stephens, I think is one of the best minds in and I know they fell short the last couple of years, but I think you see with Camba The Celtic that love grated, so I like them to come out. I could see even a team like the Sixers. I think when they've gotten timeto mess and you see how great are they're home. They're just terrible on the road, and like I said, without that out of the picture I could see them in and in the West, I could see the Rockets knocking off the Clippers over Lakers are and my dark horse is Utah. But overall, I think Boston I think it's best setup to win it all. I just liked the way They come along. They finally healthy is arrested and I think they're going to win it all. They got the shooting defense. I think Kemba has a much bigger upgrade over Crabtree. So they're my pick to win the championship. See, like the Celtics to win it all. I mean, it's the one is yard have, though. So you have the Celtics than going through, say, Milwaukee, right getting and then beating either the Clippers, the Lakers and the MBA finals. I could see Nike. I could see even the Rockets knocking one out because they want what you want to say about them. I think in this this format here with their shooting ability, they could get out. Knock anybody off. I think with the Lakers everybody is speaking them to come in. I was, but they're so good to be so reliant on. Ah, LeBron and 80 I think that they just don't have any of death And as far as the Clippers go I think Petey has shown Hey, let me ask you this question with a lack of travel. With it being in the same site. Doesn't that help a team that doesn't have great depth. No, I don't think so. I was thinking, I think I think when you because typically these playoffs ears aren't always decided by the best players. I think the roll guys, I think the bet the depth of the Celtics I think is more deep in any other team in the rest of the playoffs, so I think they're going to be able to overpower the rest of the things I think their ability to go 19 deep even when needed. I think things over well them against thes elite teams, So I think that's what separates them from everybody else and why I think they're going to win the championship. Interesting stuff. Events appreciate you charming in. It is interesting. He brings up a few interesting points there, and I'm also wantto I'm citing towards the field moves, but I think I'm going with my heart that I'm going with my head. But Vince brings up a good point about role players because we know the role players do play better at home, usually than they do on the road. So what still for a role Yeah, exactly. Right. So what does this do for a role player? You know, I think it's the one thing that's gonna be, you know, good for team like the Celtics, but probably best for a team like the Lakers and like the Clippers is the maturity, right? I mean, these are going to be really unprecedented times. That's why I think that If you ask people who would be more likely to be picked off as a number one seed. Would it be the Lakers? Or would it be the bucks? I think people would say the bucks simply because the Bucks haven't been there before. Right and the Laker? Well, this Lakers team hasn't either, but with LeBron James and him really leading the way his maturity. The fact that he's been through the wars and along with the Clippers to maybe they would take a favor. Ah LeBron James Latimore Kwai Leonard Lead team over Yana Sled team. Never tasted it. You know, he's never Calling all the way follow through won the title yet, So you know, I think that that might be part of it. Listen, I mean, LeBron's got to be looking at this and saying I got what, like 30 games at the most before between me and another title. I'm going all out. Isn't even 30 might not even be 30 less than that depends on how quickly dispatch of teams but Yeah, I don't know if I You know, I still think I lean on the most talent on II lead. Look at the Lakers, and they've got two of the top five players in the world and LeBron James and Anthony Davis. You look acquire Leonard and Georgia Dynamic combination. We look at the reigning every peon Yonas, The Milwaukee Bucks stars still play. In the MBA and multiple stars, usually when MBA championships and even with the great break between the regular season and the restart here, the embassies in on July 30th when they report down there in Orlando, I still feel pretty cozy is an MBA fan that one of those three teams end up winning it. Now, listen, it could be wrong, It could end up. Maybe it is the Boston Celtics. Maybe we do get a a wacky scenario here in the Rockets finally go on that run and get themselves to an MBA finals under Mike D'Antoni. With with James Harden and Russell Westbrook. There's two certainly dynamic stars that can take over any game. I'm just going to side with the teams. I probably trust a little bit more than anything else and look at one of those three teams as being a team that eventually wins a championship. And I also think, Look, you could look at travel and that you know, Maggie, reference of the Hubie Brown off talks about anything he puts the number of like 15 right usually get 15 extra bench points. From teams from your role players at home as compared to on the road right. They feed off the crowd. There's none of that this go around right, so it will be interesting to see how those bench players do roll because you're you're playing, you know the entire When the MBA gets going here, It's all at a neutral site. So now you look at it from an MBA perspective. Does it lead to a team? That's it's more advantageous. Have you have better depth or not? Now, I could make an argument one way or the other. I think if you don't have a lot of depth, I think this does help you a little bit, even though the games might not be spread out. You're not traveling. You're not going. You're not hopping on a plane. You travel You know you can get immediately after the game, everything that you need or to get yourself in your body Ready for the.

"She's with you. The question is out now on Twitter as well is right here on CBS Sports Radio. The question at M and M W s A. M Thie MBA is restarting July 30th. So who do you got? The Lakers, Clippers, Bucks or the field. Let's go to Vince in Philadelphia of its Europe first here on this moose and Maggie Sunday session. How are you? Hey, What's up, guys? To me? I have these field. I think when you besides all the time off now you take away the two biggest factors that typically the top seeds have which are Home court, which is more important in a basketball than any other sport, and you take away that home court fans and now you take away that travel. I think it's wide open. I'm going. I'm going today. Boston. I think to me Boston is going to win it all. I think they they got hot down the stretch. They finally got their healthy. They have time to rest. Brad Stevens, I think is one of the best minds in and I know they fell short the last couple years, But I think you see with Camba the Celtics that love grated, so I like them to come out. I could see even a team like the Sixers. I think when they've gotten timeto mess, and you see how great are they're home. They're just terrible on the road. And like I said, without with that out of the picture, I could see them in and in the West, I could see the Rockets. Knocking off the Clippers over Lakers are and my dark horse is Utah. But overall, I think Boston I think is best setup to win it all. I just liked the way they coming along. They've finally healthy arrested and I think they're going to win it all. They got the shooting defense. I think Kemba has a much bigger upgrade over Crabtree. So they're my pick. Toto, win the championship. See, like the Celtics to win it all. I mean, it's the one issue I would have, though. So you have the Celtics than going through, say Milwaukee. Right getting and then beating either the Clippers, the Lakers and the MBA Finals. I could see night I can see even the Rocket's not neither one because it was what you want to say about them. I think in this format here with their shooting ability Making you knock anybody off. I think with the Lakers everybody is speaking them coming. I was, but they're so good to be so reliant on. Ah, LeBron and 80 I think that they just don't have any death. And as far as the Clippers go, I think Petey has his shown. Hey, let me let me ask you this question with a lack of travel. With it being in the same site. I think the roll guys, I think the bet the depth of the Celtics Nothing is more deep in any other team in the rest of the playoffs, So I think they're going to be able to overpower the rest of the team that I think their ability to go 9 10 deep even when needed. I think you know, overwhelm them against thes elite teams, So I think that's what separates them from everyone else and why I think they're going to win the championship. Interesting stuff. Events appreciate you chime again. It is interesting that he brings up a few interesting points there, and I'm also wantto I'm citing towards the field most, but I think I'm going with my heart that I'm going with my head. But Vince brings up a good point about role players because we know the role players do play better at home, usually than they do on the road. So what feel for a role? Exactly Right. So what does this do for a role player? You know, I think it's the one thing that's gonna be, you know, good for team like the Celtics, but probably best for a team like the Lakers and like the Clippers is the maturity, right? I mean, these are going to be really unprecedented times. That's why I think that If you ask people who would be more likely to be picked off as the number one seed. Would it be the Lakers or would it be the bucks? I think people would say the bucks simply because the books haven't been there before. Right? And the Laker won't This Lakers team has an either but with LeBron James and him really leading the way his maturity. The fact that he's been through the wars along with the Clippers to maybe they would take a favor. Ah, LeBron James Latimore Kwai lettered led TV over Yana Sled team cause ya, Mrs. Never Never tasted it. You know, he's never Going all the way followed through won the title yet?
