"To do. You didn't stick to your habit because you didn't at least set a time period that was realistic for yourself that was doable. You could go. I know so many people said a new year's resolution and never say, well, what happens at the end of March 31st? January 1? 90 days out. Great. Where am I on March 31st? They don't even think about that. And so they struggle. There is no new idea in your life. Without a drop list of things to stop doing. A drop list. I'm dropping these things. I'm not doing these things. I'm saying no to these things. I'm getting this off the agenda. I'm letting that responsibility go. It's the things you aren't going to do. That help you do the things that you're going to do. So you got to spring clean a little bit. If you've got new dreams in your life, spring clean. What are you going to stop doing? I'm very, very, very simple about this for me personally. I have one of my own personal practices on the first of every month. I make my drop list. Every month, not once a year, every month I go, okay, this month, what do I need to drop? Because inevitably I'm moving so fast, I pick up new things I'm doing all the time. Some new idea, new dream, new thought, 'cause I'm trying to innovate. I'm trying to be upfront. I'm trying to lead him. I'm trying to change things. And then what ends up happening is, throughout the month, other people also do what? Other people give you responsibilities. Give you ideas. Give you programs. They're adding on to your plate. All month long, you're collecting a bigger and bigger plate. At the end of each month, if you just maintain that big plate in the next month, more people add more stuff to your to do list and more your plate. By the end of 12 months, you are carrying so much that is impossible to maintain. You gotta drop. Drop, drop, drop. Like, I think it's really important that every single month, we're dropping activities that we picked up along the way. I got some new idea. I'm going to do that. I got to let it go. Maybe some goals. Some months I start. And I go, okay, well, this month, I'm going to do these 5 new things. And the end of that month, I realized you know, I'm not going to be able to maintain 5. I'm going to drop two of them. I'll stick with three, but I can't do all 5. That's a drop list. Without a drop list, I have no idea how you can keep adding new things. Make sense? Some of the biggest breakthroughs in our life is when we just stop doing the things that we know aren't right for us. If you don't have someone you're doing something with actively, if you don't have an accountability partner, you don't have a coach. You don't have a friend, you go to lunch with or someone you talk it through, then the odds of that happening for you are so low. Because we're social beings. We need processing time with other people. And the more processing time we have, usually, the more progress we get. That's why therapy is so powerful and unlocking people or coaching so powerful and unlocking people. It's like, oh, I'm processing. Oh, I'm getting distinction. I'm getting more progress. You need that Friday friend saska. If you got a big new goal or dream, all I want you to do, every Friday at the end of the day, literally 5 minute, ten minute, 15, 30 minute call, whatever it is, pick it up, call your friend and say, I did this this week. Struggled with this, this worked. That went well. You. Now you go. How did you do? And you got one person in your life every week, you're talking about momentum with. I don't care what your mom. I prefer this as a human, so not the cat. But a human that every single week you talk through things with, like, where are you? I don't care if it's a librarian. I don't care if it's your social worker. I don't care if it's your brother. I don't care who it is going to be the stranger across the street, don't talk to strangers if you're a PG-13. But everybody else have that conversation and just on a Friday, go, hey man, this is where I'm at. Because if you won't do that, I promise, if you don't socialize your learning, you will not achieve your dreams. You must socialize, what am I learning? Where am I at? How's it going? What am I struggling with? You got to ask for help, but you need to consistent basis. Big dreams require weekly check ins. Write it down. Big dreams require weekly check ins. So who's going to be your weekly check in, accountability coach? Friend, mentor, who? Every week. Check in. And if you're like, well, I don't know anybody everybody hates me. You know what, go on your Facebook page every Friday at 5 and go, this is what I learned this week. This is what I tried. What did you guys try? And all the people who make fun of you, delete them. And everybody else say good for you. It's so easy. Life's very simple. Next, create motivation, triggers. When I walked in this door today, it's the same when I walk in the doors of my conference rooms. It when I'm doing my seminars, that when I usually my doorway trigger, meaning that's what a motivation trigger is. A trigger is something physical or tangible happens and you attach either a statement or an action to it. Trigger is something tangible that you say or do when something else happens. So when I walk through a door, and that's every door of my life. I walk through a door. My mind almost always says because I've just conditioned it over and over and over doing this. I walk through the door. Mine says, I am a happy man entering this space ready to serve. I'm a happy man entering the space ready to serve. It's been since I was like 20 years old. One, because I was wondering remind myself, I'm happy. I have so much to be grateful for. So do you. So how are you reminding yourself that you're grateful that you're happy that you're good? And then I remind myself, I'm entering the space ready to serve. Not hoping to serve, not maybe one to help deserve to serve. I'm ready. Right now, whatever I know, I believe in my ability to figure things out. I'm ready to serve now. I don't need permission. I don't need more money. I don't need more team. Whatever I got, I'm ready. Let's go. I don't need new things more things better things, tons of things. I'm ready to serve right now. Let's go. I'm not ever waiting to provide service to the world, ever. You don't have to have the big stuff, the fancy stuff. Just go. I didn't have big fancy cameras and lights and fancy big flip charts when I started this. It was me in a really dirty shirt with the thing the buttons too hung open. You know, it's like it was so nasty and gnarly and bad. It was awesome, and I was ready to serve. You don't have to have everything. I was watching this documentary recently on my man. Usain Bolt, one of the greatest he is the greatest sprinter of all time, right? And you see the scene of him, and he's doing sprints in a field with this sort of crappy little belt, tied around his waist, tied to a chain tied to we would call it a weight sled, but you could barely call it that. A little metal sled where you put on weights, like 45 pound weight from it like lifting. And it's like so he would sprint with this crappy little things. When you go to the NFL or I work with my major teams, they usually got, they got the fancy sleds, these longer sleds that glide when you take off that release proportionate amount of tension along with the weight as you speed up, like very fancy contraptions now. This dude, the best ever is down in Jamaica in a hot crappy field with this huge belt on with like one coach, not 12 coaches, one coach, standing there next to him. He ties this thing. And when he takes off, this thing is bouncing along behind him. And he's the world's best because he's not waiting to have everything to train. He's training. I'm not waiting to have everything to serve. I'm serving. So many of my favorites. Well, one day when I have a following, I'll post some stuff. Start posting stuff. Now, one day, when I'm ready, I'll put myself. There is no one day to be ready. You're ready now. Go. It is a mindset you must have. You're ready to go. So that's one of my triggers. Walk through a door. I'm entering the space as a happy man ready to serve, let's go. That's just one trigger. I've all sorts of other triggers. I have different doorway triggers. When I walk in my house, I say something a little different to myself, then I walk into my office. But other triggers I have. When a door closes in a car, every time a door closes in the car, I say something else to myself. When I walk into my office, I take a first action that triggers momentum for me. You need to have first actions or space triggers that help you stay your best. They're ultimately all geared towards one thing. How can you remind yourself to be at your best? And how do you use physical objects? Time periods, situations to get yourself there. That's the question. That's your job. These are motivation triggers because if you're not triggering yourself, the world's doing it for you. And if the world's doing it, you know what the world's going to trigger you towards? Angst. Outrage. Distraction. Consumption. It's not going to trigger you towards you being your best self. So if you didn't maintain your habits this year, go on my YouTube channel and type in the word, type in the power of habits, and you'll see a video that will teach you how to set some more of those examples. If you look in a mirror, you should have a mirror trigger, see your reflection of yourself, say something to yourself. I know that sounds like just positive thinking kind of stuff. And you know what it is? Because what's the alternative? Stupid thinking, negative thinking? Scarcity thinking? You need to have a little bit more triggers set up to make you work. And sometimes if it's not just you, get somebody else to do it, get a coach to do it, a mentor to do it, a friend to do it, but you need to be triggered to be your best. How are you currently triggering yourself to be your best? Many of you know, you've been with me for years. You know, we kind of now everybody does it, but we were the first one to do it. When the smartphone came out, and the first alarm was able to be set a label. I created this training and put it out about saying, hey, use this alarm label on your phone to send yourself reminders to tell you to be awesome. Put your three words in here that pop up and remind you who to be. Use this as a trigger to be your best instead of box of consumption because this can be a weapon for good or a weapon that takes you into distraction. But it's up to you. Just like the rest of life, self reliance. It's up to you. Okay, my friend, I hope you enjoyed this episode of the Brendan show. Tell some people about this episode. "You're here today. And that is simply you have to have a process. Every single week, where you let go of the screw ups of the week. Hey, it's Brendan Ann, I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brandon, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? And the truth is, I've developed a supplement line that really helps me do that. And frankly, I needed to. I know about you, but sometimes when you're trying to achieve big things, a lot of stress comes along. And as you're trying to achieve bigger things, you need to be on your a game more often. You need to be mentally sharp. You need to be mentally prepared. You need to be mentally energized and productive and not once in a while but like every day. You'll find HX optimized for your mental focus and energy there. Go to HP X wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. See what most people do is they just carry the screw ups, hate myself, failure. Screw up, label, screw up, label, screw up, label, screw up label, and all the mess ups of their life, they start defining as themselves. And the mistake you made weeks ago, you label that as part of your identity versus a behavioral mistake. Behaviors change every day. Your behaviors today are different than they were yesterday. Like behaviors are very adaptive and reactionary type of thing. You'll get some behaviors wrong, some behaviors right. But what most people do is they get the wrong behavior and they pull that wrong behavior and they pull it into an identity. Mess up, they grab the mess up and they make it their mindset. You know, the mess up was a behavioral problem. Isn't identity problem? And so they take the mess up the problem and they make it the personhood. And that's what we call making mountains out of mo hills. Like, so what you got the project in late? Does that mean you're a complete failure? No, it means you got the project in late, dude. Next time plan better. Jesus. Right? It's like we take it, we take the little things and we blow it up into who we are. Who you are is not all the mess ups. It's part of your learning journey, but it's not you, and so you got to know there's a difference here. And sometimes baggage is recognizing, oh, that was an awkward, weird, uncomfortable, harmful situation, but that's not me. That was a situation. It was a behavior. It was something that happened and occasion. And then we can go, okay, if that's true, then who am I really? Who do I want to be? Who am I now at this age of my life without those old stories? The mess up isn't the mindset. It's so simple. But here's the thing. I told you, you need a reminder. It needs to be a rhythm for you. It's part of my Sunday rhythm some of you guys know. I do my Sunday review. And when I do my Sunday review, I literally go, okay, where could I have shown up better this last week? Where can I behave better this last week? What could I have done better this last week? And I just reflect on three this week and identify the things that didn't go the way I wanted to. And I ask, okay, what could I have done? And then I do the most simple and basic thing that you could do on a Sunday. I forgive myself. And I let it go. You know? Isn't that why some people go to church to absolve themselves and to admit their sins and to release it? And maybe your church goer, maybe you're a spiritual person, maybe believe in God or you don't, but either way, wouldn't it be a practical thing to do on Sunday to go, okay, let me review where my week went good and bad. And let me decouple my emotions from that. So I can enter Monday with freedom. Because when I am in a space of freedom, I make much better decisions than when I am in the space of lack. When I am in the space of self hatred, when I am the space of carrying all this stuff unprocessed. I mean, have we learned anything from person development other than, hey, you gotta process the stuff that went that happened in your life and understand how you identify with that and what you're gonna do next. You gotta process it, man. And most people, because they're not processing, they're immediate snap judgments of self. Oh, I screwed up. Imagine if we could just loop back your last couple months. And every single week, just think about it. Think about how much you screwed up the last couple months. I don't know about you, but mine's like my hands would have to be like, I don't have enough hands. Like to count. The number of screw ups in the last couple months. I can't. It's like it's so infinite number of screw ups. But imagine if every time I screw up I'm like, oh, you're screw up. You're dumb Bren. And myself talk in that moment with snap judgment, which most people it is. Snap judge self talk. Dummy. I know that's stupid, Brennan. Imagine, if we take a loop of that for the last 6 months, uninterrupted, unpaused, unedited. And we took out all the situations of life. We removed all context, and it just sounded like, screw up, you suck, you suck, you suck. Why'd you do that? Oh my God. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. And we didn't de hook that. We didn't decouple that. That's what most people's realities are. And because that's always running, unconsciously, because they're not deliberate about processing. They're not living a courageous life now, because every time they think occurring just thought, that overwhelming chorus of noise filters and swamps and smashes that, that whisper of a dream that is bold is beaten to death by the rap based of the horrid talk that we have with each other. It's like in the back, right? And so that noise needs to be synthesized and edited down on a simple Sunday. You just sit there on your Sunday and you go. All right, man. Had a lot of noises last week. A lot of things didn't go the way I did. But you know what? Let me think about them. How could I have met those situations as my highest self? Or more courageous self? What could I have done? Okay, good. Good Brennan, you're learning. Good job. And you're learning. Oh, yeah, you could have been better than. Yeah, good for you having the intention to be better. Good for you to learn Brendan, good for you to set higher intentions Brennan. Good job being on purpose. Good job Brennan trying to improve your life. Okay, good job. You really, you got a new way to look at that Brennan. Good job. Now just let it go, man. Just take that emotion and let that emotion flow away for a little bit. Don't let that emotion from that mess up, mess up my Monday..

"Scheduled, and then the third thing which is most important is a principle where all of this. No discipline happens unless on a real consistent basis unless you have social connection. All of the research shows the most productive people, the most focused people, the people who are most fulfilled in doing meaningful work, have attached a meaning that their focus, their hard work, is attached to social connection, meaning, I'm going to show up for this because it's going to make me a better mom or parent. I'm going to get healthy, so I have more energy for the kids. I am going to do this project. So my team and company grow. So we serve more people and we make an impact. It's like, the hard work must be attached to impact. But the impact isn't just self like, oh, I'll give this. It has to have a social connection. You have to have a reason to show up over and over and over for others. That's why we always teach moments. You have to have a little card that says, who needs me on my a game today? I am disciplined because I wouldn't be less disciplined during a morning show. I'm more disagree and doing more intro because Jamie's there. She's waiting on the other end. If I don't get there, I feel like a chump. So that's important, you know? Okay, so let me before I tell you things I think you should be disciplined at. What are three things you think people should get disciplined to act in their life to enjoy life better or to have more success or I'm happy with that? Yeah, no, I think that's so powerful. And I always talk about the idea of doing something bigger than yourself. I attaching a meaning to it that's bigger than yourself a lot, right? And I think hearing how you put it is having that social element to it or that social component. And I think one thing just to call out on that, and sometimes people don't know, how do I have an attached that point of identifying how is what they're doing impacting on a social level? And so just to give an example of that, just to kind of break it down, I think that it can be a result of a result. And what I mean by that, this morning because I have book press all day today. So I'm like, I'm not missing my morning walk, right? I walk for an hour every single morning. And so today I did it at 4 a.m.. Oh, I did not want to get up at 4 a.m.. I didn't want to be outside, freezing at 4 a.m.. What I know, though, what I know. And that could be the thing I'm disciplined about. So if that's, if you just take that, we're like, okay, well, what is your walk have to do with something that's social connection or bigger than yourself? For others later on. So here's the thing. I literally don't want to do it at 4 a.m., right? When I remember, is exactly what you're saying and it's the attachment to it. And what I mean by that is on the days I have missed my morning walk. I noticed a big difference later in the day. I noticed that I'm not as sharp, I noticed that when my friends call me my advice isn't as on point or my I'm not as great of a listener because I'm not able to be as present. I noticed that I am less joyful, like less I feel I feel the day less if I don't do that one hour, I don't want to do that morning walk, right? And so the way I'm able to show up and serve or impact or give or be a parent to my two little ones or any of that stuff is impacted if I don't have that discipline or that focus of just doing the morning walk for an hour. So I'm actually I see it in real time, the impact. And so I choose, okay, for me, a walk seems so simple and with COVID sometimes, I literally walk in circles. We were in lockdown in California and weren't allowed to even walk on the streets, right? So I did it in my little small driveway, or some days it's my around the kitchen around the camp. Yes. But at the end of the day, it's like, okay, for me, that seems like a little thing, but for me and my, what I've noticed is that's actually a big thing, right? And so one question Brendan is because I think this way of thinking, right? Schedule it show up social connection. We can process what that is, but then processing, wait a minute. What does that mean in my real life? You know, thinking through, what are those big things that are needle movers? Because we get in theory or in concept, but sometimes a needle mover can be for you can be as simple as the one I just shared, which is like my morning lock, even though I did it at 4 a.m. today because I know for me that's a big needle mover with everything else and with Brendan's Brendan's talking about of social connection because for me that tie I transcend getting out of myself and not feeling the day and being tired and actually serving and connecting and inspiring. And by the way, I just realized that three things you said are part of that morning walk, right? Schedule it. Show up even when you don't want to. And then you know, that social is helping you care for others, you know? That's great. Yeah. That's so good. Morning walk. That's a simple needle mover. You know, it's that old saying, Ethan, my partner, growth, he always says that little hinges swing big doors. You know, you don't have to do to swing a big door. Hey, it's Brendan and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something I'm really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brendan, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? And the truth is, I've developed a supplement line that really helps me do that. And frankly, I needed to. I know about you, but sometimes when you're trying to achieve big things, a lot of stress comes along. And as you're trying to achieve bigger things, you need to be on your a game more often. You need to be mentally sharp. You need to be mentally prepared. You need to be mentally energized and productive and not once in a while but like every day. You have to be on and sometimes guzzling more coffee isn't going to do it. You have to use what we call nootropics, which are basically supplements that help optimize your brain, and yes, we have a product for exactly that. Go to HP X wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. What are the things you know if you're disciplined about your life improvement? What do you either a, what do you grade at being disciplined at and it moves the needle for you? What do you suck at being disciplined? You wish, you know, what's something you feel like if I was more disciplined about that? My life would really improve because I think we can all learn from where we're great and where we also struggle. Because struggling, for me, for discipline, I definitely struggle and most areas of my life with discipline, which would surprise people. They're like, what? Really? Like for me, I'm incredibly undisciplined. At email. Like, I wish I was more disciplined about email, getting in there, doing it on a consistent basis, making sure everyone's got everybody. I just suck at email. The good news is I'm good at all the other things that moves the business forward that matter to me and actually make the business grow. So you don't have to be perfect at everything. You have to pick your spots, no your strengths and the outcomes you want meaning towards it. But I'm seeing a ton of people exercise the big one coming up, doing your planners, doing your morning routines. I'm seeing that diet exercise, all that. We call them meds in growth day, if you haven't heard that from high performance academy, 2007. You had to take your meds. Meditation exercise diet, sleep, and then Rx. Good relationships and supplementation. When those are on point, bam..

"Belly about your self care and your health this year. I can't tell you even some of the most extraordinary people I've ever met in this arena of health like Olympians or very high level athletes or people who just you just look at them and you just know they've got their stuff together. They're always talking about that big bike ride they took or that great hiking or camping trip with their family. They're out and about they're staying healthy. I saw a lot of them because of the emotional weight of all the negativity in the zeitgeist. At least here specifically in northern America with our politics with a lot of the social media stuff going on. A lot of people, they compromise their health because they didn't have their emotional or mental life in play. And you're going to see how all these things ultimately tied together that I really believe that no matter what your themes are for life, that somewhere in the middle here is going to be like something in here, it's going to be like a joyous feeling. You know, it's going to be something where you feel like, oh, wow. I feel positive. I feel happy, you know, this star in here is going to be emotions. Now, I know it's going to get ugly as I start drawing this out, but I want you to think about whatever goal you set, you've got to determine the feelings you're after to achieve it. Does that make sense? If you haven't read Hogwarts habits yet, it's one of the central things that I learned from high performers is they determine the feeling that they need to have to achieve something. In advance of it, most people are thinking the opposite way. They think, okay, when I have strength and mobility, I'll be happy. Or you think when I achieve my new year's goal, I'll be happy, albeit peace, I'll be joyous. But we're actually works a different way. You've don't get happiness by doing something. You bring happiness to something, and you're more, you have higher odds of achieving it. Does that make sense? So if you wrote down goals for your news resolutions, what were the emotions of the feelings that would help you attain those goals faster? Does that make sense? If you wrote down a list of goals, what emotions are feelings would help you achieve those goals faster? I'm always aware of the emotions I have to bring to a situation. I'm always aware of the feeling that I'm trying to create. I'm always aware of the thoughts I need to have prior to the action. And I know you know all that. But how many times have you sat down to work on your computer and you just sat down from a blank state? I mean, meaning literally you got your coffee maybe, you sat down, you just started working, but you didn't first prime your mind, your emotions, your body, to be able to work well. Does that make sense? So whatever the goal is, or whatever the task of the activity is. Job number one is to identify the emotion, the feelings or the thoughts that would go into making that better. Hey, it's Brendan Ann, I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brendan, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? You need to be mentally sharp. You need to be mentally prepared. You need to be mentally energized and productive and not once in a while but like every day. You have to be on and sometimes guzzling more coffee isn't going to do it. You have to use what we call nootropics, which are basically supplements that help optimize your brain, and yes, we have a product for exactly that. It's called HVAC optimized, and it is our most popular product. And you can get it. It's back in stock at HP X wellness dot com. That's HP X wellness dot com. Go to HPE's wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. Here's what a lot of people have done. They made a big mistake. Big mistake in setting their new year's resolutions. And I want you to really listen to this because if you got this one thing from this right now, I know I'll change your life for the rest of your life. And I know that's a big promise. So tune in. Most people really mess up because they only set new year's resolutions and goals. For themselves. Did you set any goals for your team for your spouse? For your daughter for your brother for the top 5 people who are in your circle of influence, did you set goals for them? I don't mean you call them up and said, honey, I got a goal for you. I really need you to work on this. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm setting for you to have a goal for them to want something and desire something for them and you're going to help them achieve it. That's when you know you're high performer. So for those who already set the goals for your families, you already set goals for your teams or your careers, you already know how you want to develop each person in your circle of influence. You already know how you want to inspire or guide the people around you. Good job. If you didn't do that, and you do that today, we will change your year. So many people got myopic. They got very, very much. What I mean, they got very narrow about their circle of life. Even though we have Facebook and Instagram and so many ways to connect with people around the world, a lot of people went completely inside because they were protecting. There was so much noise and negativity out there that a lot of people started protecting. And when we protect our whole mind or whole body, our whole physiology is set up to narrow. And so they took a narrow view of life. But the odds are the only thing that pulls you out of survival is generosity. Not selfishness. Service, not selfishness. And so as you go to set your new year's goals, have you thought about what is the goal that you want for other people and how can you help them get there? It doesn't mean that you have to have a big long conversation with everybody your influence that you go around. I haven't had conversations with lots of people in my life about it, but I know the goal. I know that when I'm working with this person, this is the goal I have in mind for them and their life. And it's not me kind of trying to dictate what they should do or not. It's not like that. It's that we're goal oriented people. As you know, if you went out with your spouse or significant other to dinner. And you sat down and you said, you just went into dinner with no intention. Dinner could be good. But if you made it a goal, you said, you know what? I'm gonna make her laugh tonight. You know what? Tonight, I'm gonna tell us a couple of stories that remind us why we love each other. Tonight, we're gonna order that bottle of wine. That means something to us. Whatever it is for you, that when you have a goal in an interaction with a person, it changes the relationship with that person, doesn't it? Well, same thing. New year's my friend, you got to set some goals for other people in your immediate circle. So when I'm thinking about building my team, I'm thinking about both hiring new people, but also building the people who are already there. Meaning, how would you strengthen your team? If you don't have a team, how would you strengthen your spouse? How would you strengthen your child? How would you strengthen that friend that you always hang out with? Set some goals for them about how you can support them because you know what is the best feeling in the entire world? Supporting and cheering on other people. Because we got in a culture where people are just supporting and cheering on themselves. How they look on their Instagram feed, how they are peer to the world versus how they can serve other people. And my hope for humanity is that we switch that mindset from selfishness to service. From selfies to service, how is that for a tagline, you know? If we can just get back into thinking about, oh, this other person. What's their reality? What are their challenges? What do they need? What do they hope for? And how can I support that? Do you know the goals and dreams of the important people in your life? Do you know what they are? And of course not, we can't know that of every single person. There's too many. Like, I can't possibly. I think about the number of people that I know. But what I have to have for me is that higher level of intention and goal for the people who are in my circle. Does that make sense? So I hope this is serving you guys. I think that can be for a lot of you a game changer. When new year's resolutions become also resolutions for the interactions you have with other people on how you can build other people. Now I'm not trying to impose my goals on you here. I'm trying to just share maybe different ways of thinking about what you're already doing this year, which is your new year's resolutions that you already have. I hope that somewhere in those resolutions building other people up. Is a central theme that runs for all your relationships..

"They're already in your network. But you're spending all this time to go do all these other things. You already met the person who's gonna make you your next $1 million, or give you access to an audience or give you access to an opportunity. You've already met the person. But you're out there searching for new. And you're accepting all these new ideas. And as you accept new ideas as a high performer, what does that do? That crowds out other things. And so from this day forward until the end of the year, I want you to have the significant growth rule. Will this project lead to significant growth by the end of the year if not table it? People said, but if I pass up that opportunity, it might not ever come around again. I'm like, what are you 20 years old? Only 20 year olds believe that. By the time you're 30 and 40, you kind of recognize things come and to your life in waves and in circles and in rhythms. And you don't worry that one day you're going to run out of opportunities. That fomo stuff leave that to 20 and 30 year olds. You're ready. You got it. The world is never going to dry up of opportunities on you one day. The only way that would ever happen is if your mindset closed out everything because of fear. But the world, man, we ever live in a time of more opportunity. So don't worry about saying no to something that isn't significant growth for you. Focus on your core three, where everything else you're doing your brand or your business that is working or could lead to significant growth. Hey, it's Brendan and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brennan, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? Go to HP X wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. Third big idea, which I love. Is my 45 day quit rule. I look at all my big project ideas. You know, I don't know about you, but I have a journal with all my big ideas in it, you know, or if my vision board or I haven't Excel spreadsheet of all these different ideas and projects I want to do and I've got right as an example right now. I know my next 6 books I'm going to write. I know. I know my next three campaigns I'm going to launch. I know them. But here's what I have to force myself to do, and I don't like it. I say, okay, if this is a major project that I want to do, even if it could lead to significant growth, if I'm not going to start it, listen to this. If I'm not going to start it in the next 45 days, it's off my plate until next year. I just get real. And I'm like, okay, well, if that's not gonna, if I'm not gonna start on this thing, I'm not gonna do it. And I literally just take it from my journal in my little bucket of things I want to do this year and I feel so mentally relieved. A lot of people have a lot of anxiety about the number of projects they have on their plate that they really want to do. And so what ends up happening is that anxiety leads to a lot of procrastination. That anxiety leads to a lot of poor prioritization because there's so much to do. They're like, oh my God, there's so much to do here so I won't do any of it. Ever had that? Have you ever found yourself in front of Netflix going, oh my God, I have so much to do, but I just watched the fourth video in the third season. Has that ever happened? You have so much to do. And that's the problem. You have so much to do that you haven't prioritized. What you are going to do so you don't do anything. So what I do is this time of year, I look at all those things around my plate, and I get honest. Which ones am I gonna start in the next 45 days? And if I'm not gonna start an X 45 a pop, now it's not even on my mental concern. It's not on my dashboard. No anxiety there. No, oh my God, I still gotta get that one in. Nope, it's gone. You know, it's like one of our clients and Friends Ariana Huffington always says, you know, the best way to complete a project is to quit it. You know? Just like, well, I'm done with this. Just stop. And now all the mental concerns like once you allow yourself to release from a project, it's so freeing and now your mind can go back to these two. What's going to be significant growth? And what's going to be my core three? And now life gets easier. Because when you clarify, when you prioritize, and you take like 50 things, when you take a list of 50 things down to three or 5, confidence comes back in, motivation comes back in, focus comes back in. Many people lose their focus because they have too long of a to do list. That's not realistic, that's not motivating. That's honestly full of a lot of things that are like 6 months out. I might get rid of those at their 6 months out. Don't have them on your to do list anymore. Go park have a journal that's your January 1st journal and go park them in there like a parking lot. Take those take those projects and those ideas, that's my January 1st. It's not even on my mental concern anymore. I have tons of that freeze me. It's like, how many of you get so much done? I'm like, I'm not worried about the things I'm not getting done. How do you get so much done, Brendan? I'm not worried about the things I'm not getting done, 'cause I parked them. They're over there. They're not on my mental dashboard. Clarity, confidence, motivation, focus comes back in. That's the 45 day quit rule. I encourage you to challenge yourself to try it. Fourth big idea, the deliver excellence rule. This is another prioritization. Move for me. It's like, okay, someone throws a big opportunity to me. It could lead to significant growth. I could get it going, but it compromises the deliver excellence rule with, which is, wait, if I take on these anything here, would that prevent me from delivering what I already promised the best that I could? For me, I'm very stretched in my schedule. I mean, very certain. I got to get a lot done during the day. Big team, big brand, been business, big clients. I gotta be, man, I gotta be good. But lots of great opportunities come my way. That could be significant growth this year, but then the second level of that evaluative tool is to say,.

"6 years to write a book. It takes you 6 years to choose to sit down and actually do the work. But most projects people are elongating. They're not deciding, you know what? Okay, here's the project. Let's S.W.A.T. team it. Let's challenge ourselves. How fast can we complete it? At what degree of high level excellence can we complete it? Swiftly and quickly. Let's go. And so there's no defined challenge on a project. So the project isn't even feasible. Does that make sense? If you haven't said, I'm going to do this thing by this time, and there's a challenge to it. You'll keep letting the end of that project, the boundary at the end, bleed into the future. And now what you really have is daydream or a hope. I would say the difference between a project and a hope is a project has a boundary. A hope is just I hope to become a bestselling author. I hope I can train people one day. There's no boundary. There's no deadline. There's no firm box around this project and when it's going to be completed in a 30 day or 60 day calendar. And I share that with you because I really believe you probably think things will take longer than they really need to. And the reason you tend to believe things take longer than they really do. Is because you made the first mistake. And that is you took on too many of these. Does that make sense? Sometimes psychologically, we think things, especially as you get older, you know, you got maybe you develop a greater family or you know, now you're in your 30s and 40s and 50s and 60s and 70s. And now the opportunity to help more people or the obligations to care for more people, piles up. And as it piles up, you made the very first mistake of taking on too much. And by taking on too much, it fooled your mind into thinking things take long. Does that make sense? It's a big switch in people's minds. I have to do as a high performance coach a lot. It's O, you think things take so long because you are used to taking on too much. Most dreams, most major initiatives can be accomplished in one to three years tops. And if you think I'm crazy, please go work one day of your life or a Fortune 500 company. And realize that major CEOs are walking in and saying, we are going to transform our whole company, all of our teams, all of our products, and we're going to do it in three years with these three initiatives. And it was like, wow. How does that happen? And obviously, if you're a small business person or you work from home, it's easy to say, well, yeah. But they've got teams and budgets Brandon. I'm like, it's not the teams and budgets that help them move forward. It's the defining of the right projects. Then it is protecting those projects. And then it is moving swiftly to the speedy resolution accomplishment of those projects. It doesn't matter. It's not about the size of the team because you and I both know major organizations with tons of team who take years to move. They're just, I mean, molasses. So it's not about time and budget because a lot of major companies are buried. Kodak had tons of team, and they also had tons of budget. And they also couldn't turn fast enough. They took on too many projects that weren't the relevant projects in the marketplace. Not only did they have too many projects, they had too many irrelevant projects. And now you're toast. There's nothing worse than too many of something, and too many of the wrong things as well. And I know you know what I'm saying. So before I even define this framework for you and we jump in. I'm hoping this is changing some mindset gears. Most people are thinking wrong about their projects because either a they don't have any, or be there they're going to think them too long. And I want to push you. I want to challenge you and go, what if the big dream that you have? Could be accomplished faster. And once we move things from hopes to projects, and we get clear on keeping everything else out that doesn't lead towards the achievement of that specific project. I'm telling you life can change. Hey, it's Brendan and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something I'm really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brandon, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? And the truth is, I've developed a supplement line that really helps me do that. And frankly, I needed to. You have to be on and sometimes guzzling more coffee isn't going to do it. It's called hpx optimize, and it is our most popular product. And you can get it. It's back in stock at HP X wellness dot com. That's HP X wellness dot com. You'll also find my favorite powdered energy drink that we created this a 100% organic and vegan and you'll find my essentials, which is my daily multi that I take that covers my energy that covers my longevity that covers my immunity that covers my brain and body health that I absolutely love and you will feel the difference. Go to HPE's wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. This is how I choose projects that matter. Number one, I look at this thing that no one likes to talk about. Feasibility. And I got a simple rule here that you might write down. And this simple rule says, to me, 12, 18. What does that mean? That means when I'm looking at a list of projects, I first identified the ones that I can feasibly based on what's already on my plate. The projects I'm already implementing, going to complete trying to finish. Can I finish the projects that I'm trying to prioritize? Which ones can I finish? What's the word? In the next 12 to 18 months. It's the first thing I look at. Assuming these are projects that matter, which I'm assuming, you would have written them down if it didn't. Now I start got to prioritizing them. I go, okay, which ones can I finish in the next 12 to 18 months? And I tend to lean towards those. Why? One psychological health. If you're just doing something for years and years and years and you have no completion towards at some point you're like, you don't get that celebration in that contribution that completion. I think it's important to complete projects. Two, you know what? None of us knows what's going to happen in two to three years from now. And is it true? I mean, could you look at where our society is right now? Did you see this coming three years ago? Most people did not, okay? But look at where we are. We're all like, what the heck is going on? We've had the sea change, it feels like in the entire culture in the last three years. So if you couldn't see that coming, a global cultural change in three years, how are you going to see what's going to happen for you? If you couldn't pick it up from the culture. Does that make sense? It's humans. We suck at seeing the future in general, though we love to envision it. That's why I want to tighten it down. I want to take you out of your ten and 5 and three year thinking now and bring it back to what's the feasibility..

"Inanimate object? How do you read feelings is what sesame has been always about and teaching kids about honesty and integrity and caring for yourself, yeah, they're the bomb. What we're trying to do with this growth day morning show. And with growth day, my company is, we are trying to start this encouraging conversation in your head, but also let you know, there's personal development fans and fanatics and dorks like us all around the world who checked out books who listen to CDs and tapes who are striving. So if you're the striver in your family and they make it, no apologies, keep striving. If you're the person who's into reading the books and listen to the podcast and doing your workout, but everybody else around you is just the complainer and not taking action and no self responsibility. That shouldn't minimize your light. You don't need other people's understanding approval or even participation to keep chasing the vision you have for your life, like one great, you know, untold advantage I've had in my life. Jamie is, I don't expect people to support me. I grew up in a place where people beat me. I grew up in a place where people minimized us. I grew up in a place. It was economically depressed. I grew up with very little expectations of people around me at all. And so that gave me this independent, I'm going to make my own way. And I'm going to do it either way. And I think that in one way that was good because it made me self reliant. In another way, I think I wish I had asked for help earlier in my early 20s specifically. So it's like personal development, we always talk about self awareness self responsibility self reliance, but a huge part of personal development is your environment, your community. Even if you have like lots of obligations and hardship the rest of this day, we start with reflection about what's important in life. Reverence for life. We start with the joy Jamie brings to this world. This is not gonna smile. Every time I see her in the morning, I'm ready. Let's go. So I love what you just said to you that you wish you would ask for help sooner too, because I think that so many of us, especially for if we aren't around other people that maybe dream the way the way we do or habit goals or big visions or want to improve ourselves, right? We're not around that. It's easy to just take that route and doing life alone. You know, in so many ways, even sometimes in our own homes, even when we have a lot of other people in our own homes, we can still feel lonely. And one of the things I talk about my book for the first time ever never shared the story and I won't go into it here, but it's the lesson, which is like I realized my whole life that I thought, you know, oh, you know, I got it. I got it myself and independence is this badger honor. And I all be a lone wolf and some of the stuff I do, and that's okay. And all those things. And I actually do the process of not being able to have a baby for a decade. And losing pregnancies and all the staff all the hard stuff. They share for the first time ever and then going through the process of looking into adoption and surrogacy and eventually having our daughter, I learned this lesson that life isn't meant to do alone and that also sometimes when we show up in community and when we trust other people who've earned our trust, you have similar ambitions similar vibes like life is so much more beautiful and you know for me it's part of why I am inspired to wake up every day and hop on this morning show with you. And with everyone else in the growth day community because I think for so many of us, you know, this is a form of community where we can feel connection and a lot of us have jobs. Listen, I read everyone's DMs. They send me a lot of people have jobs. They don't feel connection in yet. Or don't feel inspired and yet or they have situations in their homes or their families, where they're not feeling that that connection and that inspiration and that aliveness. And I think, you know, that's what I love so much about you putting growth day together as a whole company, but also with the live coaching with all the stuff that you're doing, but then also this morning show is that everyone's here and it's really just, you know, connection with each other. Hey, it's Brendan and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brandon, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? Go to HP X wellness dot com right now. HP X wellness dot com. I think people are gonna be surprised when you read Jamie's book. And again, it comes out the second part, it's called believe it. I think what you'll be surprised in there is people often assume all these people who are building these big businesses and have big teams and have outcomes that are extraordinary. We think, oh, you know, they had everybody behind them. Everyone was cheering them on the whole time. You know, whenever they walk, they were always pedals thrown at their floor. And you know, they were constantly being handing like cuddly little animals every day. There's this myth that like, oh, I'm just gonna walk on the path of ease and there's gonna be a big, you know, it's gonna be built on money and at the end, you know, they're just dancing bears and everyone's happy for you. I'm here to tell you often just like the rest of you and all of us Jamie.

"Then guess what? I'm angry. Or I'm scared, or I'm unworthy. And the judgment of self, perpetuated from a situation ten years ago and this is why some people never hit high performance. I know that sounds so weird to bring in because it feels like we're in a therapeutic conversation. I'm not a therapist. I've studied psychology for 20 years of my life. I've trained therapists in coaching situations, but I am not a therapist. And what I do understand from the work, though, is that so often are old judgments, slow down our speed today. Slow down our happiness, our joy, our abilities, our capabilities are freedom. Some people are still caged from something that happened ten years ago because they have not yet gotten the support they might need to overcome that judgment. That judgment against that person, that situation and themselves. Because it's always three levels deep, isn't it? It's always three things. We judge a situation. We judge the people in it, and we judge ourselves within it. And what people don't realize is often when all three of those judgments are negative somewhere in the past, I'm bad, they're bad, that situation was bad. And we don't have a long-term mental strategy to overcome that. Then we go into short term thinking again. And now we struggle to make good healthy decisions for ourselves. And so what's the opposite of that? The opposite is what you guys probably could have guessed. It's forgiveness. It is the stuff of personal development. It is the stuff of psychology and therapy, but it is the stuff of spirituality too. And if we don't learn to let go or forgive ourselves or other people from past circumstances, then we are not free today. And when we are not free today, when we don't feel freedom today, we don't make long-term decisions. It's just the way it is. The more cage somebody is naturally in any situation or conversation, the more protectionists and short term thinking they get. The more free you are, the more you're like, have you ever gone on vacation? Back at home, you were tied to the computer, 24/7, like just constantly. You're at the computer. 24/7. You go on vacation. There's no computer for a day. And also you're like, oh. And all of a sudden, your mind starts flooding with thoughts about the next decade. You haven't thought about next month or the next decade for weeks or years, but you're on vacation and all of a sudden you're like looking for a piece of paper to write that big idea or you set new goals or you talk with your spouse about the future again. Why? You got a moment for your brain to breathe in freedom. And when you were in freedom, you are connected to the future. When you are trapped by old judgments, you are trapped in short term. And so I think it's really important that if you haven't ever done the work to forgive the people in your life that need to be forgiven, not because they need to be forgiven, but because you deserve freedom, do the work. Well, how do I do it? Go buy some books on forgiveness, go listen to some audiobooks on forgiveness, go talk to your therapist. If you have one, if you don't have one, but if you know a major situation or person or event in the past, is still troubling you significantly today in a way that affects your joy, your happiness, your ability to produce, get things done and move forward. Time to get a therapist. It's not intimidating, it's not scary. Type in your town, type in therapist. Schedule appointments with three of them, it's free. Usually they'll do a free first session, go sit down with three of them. Pick the one you like the best. Go back to them in the next week. Go back to them the week after that and stay with them for a couple weeks or months. That's all you gotta do. It's just like shopping. And people like shopping. So go shop for a therapist. Go visit three, choose the one you like. I put literally thousands of people in my life or of our network into therapy because they thought I don't eat therapy. I'm like, are you moving as fast as you want to move? Is there things that upset you from the past that you still aren't over? To sometimes you're going through the day and you get all pissed or angry or sad about something that happened years ago that you know you need to let go, then go get professional services to overcome that. You know, it's just like people if you really want to get extremely fit, you'd go get a personal trainer. Well, if you want to get extremely mentally fit, you would go get a therapist or a coach, right? And that's why many of you guys are here so that you just every single month. I'm like, oh, I'm digging in my brain a little bit here. I'm doing the work. I'm checking it out. I don't make it easy, but I do really believe it's so worthwhile. "It's all up here. Honor the struggle. Next up, number three speed. People get so impatient. They get frustrated with the amount of speed that they're having. I'm not cheating my goals enough. Brennan, so I must be on the wrong path. I'm like, what do you mean? Well, you know, I set out four years ago to become a millionaire. And I'm at $890,000. I'm like, sounds good to me. What's the big deal? Well, I wanted it in four seconds. I'm like, well, you know, okay. You know, but people are so inner hurry that they're not allowing time. If you see the amount of time that I allow into my life, even though look, I'm very focused on momentum. I'm very focused on progress, but I allow tons of time. I don't get frustrated with speed. I'm never impatient. I'm like, I will get there. Because I can see beyond this moment. A little slower than I want right now. That's okay, because you know what? I know next year that momentum builds and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that, I just know the momentum keeps building that. So it doesn't bother me. When you're on a ten year plan, one bad week does not slow you down. When you can see the endgame, when you're willing to put in the work over and over and over and over again, you won't lose momentum. But people lose momentum because one thing is hard or they're not getting a head fast enough. But momentum doesn't have to be a gigantic rock just speeding along. Some days, momentum is you got that thing one more inch man. Some people don't understand that. Momentum can be just one more inch. And once you understand that, you're in the game. One more inch man. That's momentum sometimes. Depending on where you're at, what you're working on, what you're struggling with, it's just, I'm going to show up every day and do the best I can. And that sometimes momentum. You showing up and doing the best you can, day after day after day every day, even if the best you can is diminished because of your health or you're busy or something else, those things add up, they become, it's that snowball effect. Or that compound effect that just goes and goes and goes and grows and grows and grows from little momentum. So stop thinking momentum is $1 million after two days. Stop thinking so huge. Sometimes it's like one inch at a time. Hey, it's Brendan and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brandon, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? "Asking, so Brendan, how do I get ahead? You know, I've been struggling, I've been busting my head against the wall, trying to figure out how I'm gonna get my breakthrough. I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure how to think about the next steps in my life. And some people, you know, they've just been trying. Maybe you've been trying something for so long and it is just not there yet. What are the ideas, the strategies that elements you need to put into your life to get to that next level? I've studied this for 17 years and it always seems to come back to one of 5 things, you know? The first thing that often comes back to is consciousness, becoming more aware of who you are and what you really want in your life. You know, some people would call it clarity, but I don't like clarity as much as I like the word consciousness because it's hard to be clear about things in your life. If you're not present and aware to them. So if you're trying to figure out how you're gonna get ahead, what is it specifically you wanna get ahead to? You know? And is it what you really want? Because a lot of people just say, well, I want to get ahead and I say, what does that mean? They say, well, Brennan, I want to make some more money. And I say, great, make money at what? And they say, well, I got this job, so I'm gonna try and get ahead here at this job. And I said, but is the job what you really want to be doing in the first place? Because sometimes the busy work that you have in your life isn't your life's work, you know? It isn't your real passion, your real drive, your real desire, that your work feels like a hobby, it feels like you get lost into it because it's so great and so fun. And though so many people out there are lying to themselves saying, well, I couldn't make money at doing X thing. You know, they have some big dream, but they say, I couldn't make money doing that. And I said, what are you talking about? I know yoga instructors making 6 figures a year. I know piano teachers making 7 figures per year. You can't go online and not find someone crushing it in any given topic area of life today. The business opportunity is there. It's just will you show up in a disciplined intelligent way, which we'll talk about, right? So it's become a conscious what do you really deeply truly desire to do? Because if you get ahead at things that you don't care about, maybe you're climbing the ladder or you know you're succeeding at something, but it's not your real thing. You know? It'll eat at you. It'll eat you from the inside out. It'll deaden the soul because yeah, maybe you have some financial or material success at that thing and maybe you even have some accolades, maybe people appreciate you for it. Maybe you even paying people's mortgages and paying employees at it. But if it's not really your thing, then you're in trouble because you'll never feel internally like you're getting ahead because you won't integrate those successes to yourself because you don't find the meaningful. So getting ahead begins with becoming conscious to what is it you truly desire, what would you love to do? Because you can build a business model around anything today. That is the great gift of the online world. That's what we've seen over and over and over worldwide. People in any given area crushing it. So what do you want to do? That's where we begin. What are you truly consciously desire to do? Not. What are you doing? Because you fell into it. That's not consciousness. Consciousness means consciously designing your life, designing who you are, deciding where you're gonna go and what you really want to accomplish. The second thing that we have to have to get ahead is competence. We have to have knowledge skill, ability in any given area. It's not just one day you wake up with talent, it's that if you're really going to get ahead, you have to study your craft. You have to deeply study it. You know, I decided what was it? Now, 18 years ago, that I wanted to help inspire and motivate people. And I wanted to coach people, one on one on motivation and on high performance. And I wanted to write books on the topics. So 18 years ago, I started reading a book a week on psychology, leadership, communication, marketing, and get out of my hand about human behavior and high performance. I was studying everything I could in psychology every single week. Now it's like people are like, wait, you've read a book a week for 17 years and I don't brag about it. I'm not like, oh, yeah, look at me. That was for my passion. I knew if I really wanted to succeed at something, I had to study it, and I had to study it deeply. And I couldn't spend all this time doing all the other things, so I had to study my craft. The great artists of our past history. That's what they did. They did one thing. They had a true level of depth of study in that area. Now, maybe they dabbled in some other areas too, but they became famous because they studied one area. And so what's your area? What's the thing you need to study on develop a deep level competence into how to do it and how that world works? Because we have this saying in Montana that the time to have the map is before you enter the Woods. But a lot of people have a dream and they run out into the Woods and they just start trying stuff and they take this path and this path and this path and this path. And because they didn't study best practices, they wake up and they're lost. They're confused about who they are and where they're at and they're in this dark forest of the unknown with no plan to get out. They had no idea. They just jumped into something they didn't study before taking that leap. And I will say, you know what? Study, pay attention, learn from the best model and most intelligent smart, successful people you can in any given area that you want to succeed in in your life before you get into it. Then develop competency by doing it over and over and over and over again. Don't do it once in a while here and there over and over and over. That's how you get competence. Hey, it's Brandon and I want to jump in the middle of this episode here real quick and tell you about something I'm really excited about and something the answers a question that many of you have from me all the time, which is Brendan, where do you get this crazy focus and energy in your life? "Unfair and unsafe than guess. What i'm angry or scared or i'm unworthy and the judgment of self perpetuated from a situation ten years ago and this is why some people never hit high-performance. I know that sounds so weird to bring in because it feels like we're gonna therapeutic conversation. I'm not a therapist of studied psychology for twenty years of my life. I've trained therapists in coaching situations. But i am not at their best. And what i do understand from the work though. Is it so often or all judgments. Slow down our speed today. Down our happiness joy our abilities or capabilities our freedom. Some people are still caged from something that happened ten years ago because they have not yet gotten the support they might need to overcome that judgement. That judgement against that person that situation and themselves because there's always three levels deep isn't it. It's also thinks we judges situation. We judge the people in it and we judge ourselves within it and what people don't realize often when all three of those judgments or negative somewhere in the past. I'm bad they're bad. That situation was bad and we don't have a long term mental strategy to overcome that. Then we go and short-term thinking again and now we struggle to make good healthy decisions for ourselves and so what's the opposite. The opposite is what you guys probably guessed. It's forgiveness it is the stuff of personal development. It is the stuff of psychology and therapy. But it is the stuff of spirituality to and if we don't learn to let go or forgive ourselves or other people from past circumstances than we are not free today and when we are not free today. We don't feel freedom today. We don't make long term decisions. It's just the way it is the more cage. Somebody is naturally in any situation or compensation the more protectionist than short-term thinking they get the more free you are the more you have you ever gone on vacation like back at home. "A lot of what i share is common sense but we all know it's not always common practice and that's why so many relationships fall apart so simple. I double sided coin. We all know these two rules right. One is put the relationship i right. We all heard that before. And this is denise is. I'm going to combine to verse together at year. One is the relationship. I but the flipside coin is you must grow and be independent and be striving to be your best in and outside of the relationship. Otherwise if you're growing the relationship become stagnant and so it's interesting. That's that interdependence independence thing that makes all these relationships so dang hard right is because yes you wanna pour yourself and your partner and your spouse and support them and cheer them on and make decisions just for the relationship and we all have the individual spirit that wants to manifest in our own full potential. And how do we do those. Two things in union and alignment. We're talk a lot about that today. Our first teaching today. Let's jump it. Our first teaching today is that simple. Understanding there's two sides of a coin and relationship. There's relationship i and there is grow and reach your potential independently as well that interdependence independence you must recognize the push and the pull of that and be attentive to that at all times to have a great relationship. I would argue that. Almost ninety percent of conflicts in relationships are actually not about who cleaned the kitchen. It's not about the finances or this kid didn't do that in the household. No no what it usually tends to be is a push pull between interdependence and independence and the couples not understanding that duality and not mitigating for that. Duality and so one person's like relationship. I we should do everything together. We should be on the same page. It should be perfect together and relationships also means. Hey win you're making decisions about your life. Make it please. In the context that we have chosen to live life together. Who's ever had a relationship or the person was completely oblivious. This idea of make the relationship. I it was probably miserable for you. It was like this person doesn't prioritize. And i believe that one thing has really helped us mean denise and our relationship is honestly she defaults to that she is so good and bringing me back to that. It's all it's about us. We plan together. We have to have the journey together. Don't just do these things. Think about how does that impact us our life our family and she's really good at that and i believe that's what his taught me to be a better man. I hope in the relationship we've gotten more and more years into our relationship together. I think that that is really powerful. How do you put relationship. I you always make decisions within the context of realizing you're in a relationship together like obvious right and it doesn't mean you can't have independent decisions. It means those decisions still take place in understanding the fax and the consequences of your actions within the relationship. When we forget there's consequences of our actions within a relationship the relationship inevitably becomes something separate than us and when this relationship is separateness. Then he feel a separate did miss and the more your partner feels a separateness in the relationship the more that relationship struggles. This is why you hear people say make decisions together plan together. Know what you're both working on together. That's the idea of relationship. I it's all right. I have a life partner. That means i do life with my partner so when i plan things in my life i think about my partner. Hey it's brandon. Remember oh right now. And when i think about relationships i was thinking about the coin i call it. The coin independence independence relationship. I got it and the opposite side. Which so many people naturally gravitate towards and no especially if they can be like this. Which is you must continue improving yourself and fulfilling yourself if that relationship is going to come into a true deep meaningful fulfilling relationship right if you're stagnant. Don't get mad that the relationship is stagnant if your partner is stagnant. meaning they're not growing. They're not stretching themselves they're not trying to learn about their mindset or they're effective energy on other people or to become more productive towards meaningful pursuits matter to them will then what happens. Wellness dot com. Think of how many fears you have right now. We're instead of knowing what you want to go do or what you've committed to you just stop. That's impulse control too. But at some point we've got to move that needle in conversation over towards the better decisions. I know i'm belaboring this point but i just can't tell you how important it is to learn to think these ways to start moving towards those actions. We say i'm scared. I go anyway. I'm upset but i managed the upset. The upset doesn't manage me. I know that. I'm starting to cause anxiety. Let me breathe it out of myself and do what i really need to do to move my life and my day ford. There's plenty plenty days in this last year. As denise i moved to puerto rico where it was like just paralyzing like paralyzing the amount of work just like frozen the amount of like. there's too many moving pieces. i don't know what to do. So what do you do when there's too many pieces your impulses like screw it right. Let's go netflixing. Chill when you have a million things to do. That's impulse winning the day. Short term comfort netflix and chill and then three weeks later. You're so overwhelmed still because you weren't able to overcome that impulse right and i know it. I know they get you. The netflix next episode starts in five four. They don't even it'd be nice if they said next. Episode starts sixty seconds. Because you might in sixty six and you might find the willpower. You might go to the bathroom. You might go for the refill and just not come back but no next episode five four three. Oh crap okay. Every how hard it is to press pause in your life but when you learn to do that and you do it over and over and over and over again now. Nothing rules you. That's what i love about my life. Nothing rules me. Fear does not rule me anymore and hasn't ruled me and over twenty years stress and anxiety hasn't touched me in a decade. Like the all the things everyone's like just abnormally. And i'm like no for people who care and work on themselves. It's totally normal. So i want you to do that. I want you to find a way to consistently meet your emotions feelings or impulses and challenge it observe it or overcome it. It might be as simple as saying no to bradtha times and then it's not an issue. It just not an issue for me alcohol. is that way right. Everything about my life. I'm at events all day long. Everybody walks up to me brennan. You're so awesome. Here's some champagne. Here's some wine. Here's the beer. Can i get you something. The bars right there. No man. I'm good and people are like well. No it's just. I feel uncomfortable saying no when people offer me alcohol. I'm like yeah but if you don't learn to do it now you're never gonna learn to do it. I'm not judging those who drink alcohol at all totally allowed in my family and my life. I'm just saying that it doesn't rule me. It never has and that's really important. I decided at one point. I said you know what i know. I wanna be a right now. I'm just not going to have one. So i only if i have any alcohol it would be like socially and it'd be something that i chose do not just because someone handed me one and i think that's really important to get because then then you know how a slippery slope that can lead and many of you have shared really inspiring stories about overcoming addiction. And how you went about. That process is super hard. You need support. You need team. You need a to overcome those types of things. So i'm not making light of it or saying i'm looking at me. I just knew that my life would suck if i did not learn to manage my impulses. Okay my friend. I hope you enjoyed this episode of the brennan show. Tell some people about this episode.
