"The power pole in sections going from 30 to one with two questions. Which team would you want to be going forward and which team would you not want to be? So I'm going to read this section with the records. And then we'll talk about which team do we want to be, which team do we not want to be? So the first section, the worst section, the trauma for Yama section. This is number 30 San Antonio. They're 13 and 45. They haven't won in a solid month. Number 29 Houston's 14 and 45. Number 28 Detroit is 1544 and then Charlotte is 17 and 43. Kudos to us. We called this in the over under podcast before the year. We were like, wait, why is Charlotte's over under 35 wins or whatever it is? They're going to be terrible. They are terrible. So those are the four worst teams in the league. Which team would you want to be going forward out of those for? San Antonio Houston Detroit or Charlotte. You could pick one. I'm going to go Houston. I'm not going to say I like watching him play this year and we could get into the particulars of it, but they have four guys that I like. The other thing I like about Houston's roster is I really like a lot of the role players. The only problem is they don't know the role players yet. And I wouldn't tell young people to go, hey, decide your role player very early on. But I remember talking to teams about this, but like whenever you're tanking or whenever you're rebuilding, I shouldn't say tanking in this case. But when you're rebuilding, it's very challenging when you have a roster of 14 dudes that all are worried about their second contract and all things that are going to be Hall of Famers. And that, I think, is part of their problem. We could get deeper into it. I don't think we need to, but if you're telling me between Jalen green and Shen goon and tari Eason and Porter, you know, it hasn't been playing much lately, but I like a lot of the pieces. There's more talent on I think that group there other than, you know, the Detroit, the Kate injury. If you told me it was Detroit, I wouldn't get mad about it. But I think it's really between those two options and who you'd want to be. I didn't love any of the four options to be honest. I wanted to say Detroit, but I just don't have enough information on that cage injury and it makes me nervous that they shut them down so fast. If he was healthy, I would say Detroit, Houston, I agree with you. There's pieces. I don't know where the pieces lead to. At least they hit with Easton. They have something to point to from the hardened trade finally. They're not going to get to swap this year, but essen is the first piece that we could say, well, at least they got that for James Harden. They have some flexibility too. There's some rumors hard in my comeback. I was thinking of it, I was surprised that I didn't love any of the futures, and it's funny that neither of us mentioned Charlotte because they probably have the best player out of the four teams in lamelo. But that Charlotte team, that was my answer for no. And we'll get into them in a second. They used to think, though, it feels like that would be the most fun one but beyond the amount of the four, right? If you're going to be sanitary, who's the Detroit Charlotte, I would like to say women on that team. I'm not sure he would want to be on that team. What would you think it would be his choice if you just gave him those four? Yeah, I know this is where it's going to get really interesting this summer man. What if he does that Eli Manning? Right, little Steve Francis. Or just like, eh, Houston now. I need a different team. I would think Houston would make more sense from market standpoint. You could argue, well, wait, San Antonio has all this great infrastructure that they're terrific at doing this. I don't know. I feel like that time is kind of passed. I mean, maybe it's still true. I certainly would trust them more than Charlotte. I actually like a lot of things that Detroit's done. Detroit would be my pick if Kate Cunningham were playing right now. If cape Cunningham are playing right now, I tell you I'd rather have him over Melo. I still think I would rather have him over mellow injured. Charlotte's the team I'd least want to be out of this group. Yeah, me too. When you factor in ownership with it, it's a no brainer. And I don't really know what they're doing. You know, I don't want to pay Jalen McDaniels. Okay, fine. But I mean, this is what happens when you win the Gordon Hayward sweepstakes, and he plays half of his time there. I had them as this was the team I would not want to be. So I wrote down some stuff. First of all, three playoff appearances since 2002. Three, this is before LeBron came in the league. They have three black parents, two sweeps out of the three. The other one was a 7 game loss in 2017 in Miami. This year, their 29th offensively 25th defensively, they're shooting under 33% from three. If you're looking at assets, it gets grim pretty fast, right? Lamelo is obviously an asset. I had them top 40 trade value. I like Mark Williams. I like them in college and they're finally playing them now. He's become double double guy. Roger is definitely a playoff guy for somebody but probably a third guard. And then PJ Washington who is going to be a free agent. Other than that, not a lot of assets on this team. Am I missing anybody? Anyone else you like? No, not really. I mean, book night, it's been nothing. And then there's like a write off. There's a couple that just aren't even a part of the equation, which I mentioned. We're going to see more and more here as they tank. But this is just talking out loud because I don't know anything about when by Yama other than I've heard as agents are like rounding down on its height. Like he's getting he's so tall. He's like the first player I've ever heard of where it was like they actually

"Here we go. I love irritating you. Uh huh. Hey, yeah, you're really good at work. But, okay. You know, for the texture is like, oh, come on, Evans, you're smarter than that. Any quarterback rolling to his left. Hey, look, hey Carol was taking bows and patting himself on the back. Here's a guy who's been coaching the NFL and coaching in football a long, long time as a defensive guy, and he made a big deal of it. So must be something to it, and the numbers did back him up. So anyway, we move on. Nathaniel Hackett, not listening to his critics. Tuning them out as the week went along. Says that that's part of the deal as will Peterson writes about a Denver fan dot com. Boy, that was a harsh, welcome to the NFL week for Nathaniel Hackett. What do you think he learned from this week? As he gets ready to apply it, we two and moving forward. What did he learn this week? Well, I think there's, I think there's a couple of things just from a, you know, just from a leadership standpoint, right? I think one, you've got to be willing to adjust your plan. Right? If you come up with a plan and you realize the situation is kind of calls for something different, then you damn well better take your time, take your time out, whatever. And adjust the plan, right? I think that's the number one thing. And then the other thing that I think he's got to learn is you are in charge. You are the buck stops with you. And you could have ended. Like, you could have all your assistant coaches at ask question answer questions about it. You could have ended it. Think about it, Mike. You just stood up on Tuesday, or you could have stood up Monday night after the game, the press conference say, I totally botched that. And that's never going to happen again. That's a 100% on me. It's not on my coaches. It was my decision. It's not my quarterback. It's done my kicker. It's not on anybody. I'm the head coach that was my decision, and I botched it, and I can guarantee you, I cost us that. I cost us an opportunity. And I can guarantee it won't happen again. You stand up and you do that, and that to me is leadership, man. And I think sometimes it has to be it, well, not sometimes. All the time, it has to be learned. And you have to, it's sometimes you have to go through those growing pains. And I hope that you go through that growing pain and that's what you come away with. James Merrill attitude for fan dot com saying Justin outen is the latest Broncos coach to put his foot in the mouth. Instead of honestly answering the question yes, especially since he is the offensive coordinator entitled what he actually does. I have no idea. It's the guy calling all the plays, but whatever. He has the title of offensive coordinator and he only speaks once a week. Yesterday was his chance, and I would assume as somebody who is hoping that he's able to use this job title as a springboard to be in a head coach, much like Nathaniel Hackett did under Matt Lafleur and Green Bay, that, you know, he might want to use these opportunities when he's up in front of the press to sort of show that he's made of head coaching material. So the fact that when he was asked about what happened Monday night, all he had to say was there's no Marty McFly to go back in time. We're focused on Houston. It's been addressed long enough. Is that a good enough answer in your mind or should he have framed it? A different way. No, I think, again, that's the head coach's responsibility. And those guys are like, hey, as much as in his painful, that is, man. You got to prepare for Houston. On a short week. You know, I mean, those guys are grinding, you know, putting in stalling game plans and they're trying to figure it out. So yeah, I mean, I don't have any issue with him saying, man, I don't want to address that. I've moved on. I'm trying to gameplay. You got any questions about Houston? If you don't, great, I'd like to get back to work. It's fine. Doesn't bother me. Given it is Houston. Nobody's interested in Houston. Houston's going to be lucky to win four games this year. This isn't switching from a Monday night against Seattle to a game with Kansas City this week. It's Houston. You'd be hard pressed to name 5 guys on the Houston roster. They're a boring, there's no storylines with this team. So you got to understand that this is what people are focused on and maybe have a better answer than well, you know, we're on to Houston and there's no Marty McFly. There's no Delorean for us to go back in. I don't know, give us your take on it. Give us your give us some more insight into what you were thinking. What did you see? It's clear. What are you going to say though? What do you say? Yeah, I was thinking the whole time. We should go for it, but you know, I'm not like, you can't say that. But you should be able to come up with something more nuanced, more substantial than that. Come on, you got a hungry fan base that is focused on the Broncos that wants that does all the information that they can get. Listen, I know you insight they can get it. That does him no good. What good does that do here? Like, what can you say? What can you say at that moment that does you as a coach any good? You can't. Here's the biggest takeaway I think that this coaching staff I hope learns is you want you want to have a relationship with your players. You want to have almost some sort of pseudo partnership, right? You want to be player coaches. You want to get their input. But at the end of the day, you're still the parent. And it's still your job, thank you for the advice. Thank you for the input, but you're still not going out tonight. You're still grounded. Your curfew is not going to be two in the morning. It's going to be midnight. Deal with it. And I would hope that the lesson in Nathaniel Hackett and his staff learned this week is probably how many times were you in the huddle with John Elway after a play in Shannon Sharpe came running back to the hull said I'm open. I'm open. I'm open, right? I bet you Shannon Sharpe thought he was open on every single play. Sure. And what did John Elway say? Thank you. Shannon, shut up. Yeah. Okay. That's not the really what it should be, right? Right. That's coaches. Okay. Yeah. Did you want to add to that? No, no, no, no. I just can't go ahead. Move on. You just I mean, I'm a little irritated with you right now. Sitting here in the sun's coming up. It's beautiful, my son's been coming up, but I get this beautiful gigantic room. I should just be in all my glory right now. Sitting naked on a balcony. Naked on a leather chair. Air dry. Just air drying. Meanwhile, you're just irritating me. All right, well. Okay, that's what's going on at Denver fan dot com. Check it all out. Free content. Add it throughout the course of the day. It has been quite the week, Andrew mason, our senior Bronco writer at Denver fan dot com joins us, and mesa, there have been some pretty salacious headlines at Denver fan dot com throughout the course of the week. I'm thinking back to the column I wrote, which by the way, the headline writers did not do me any favors. I said that he had lost the faith of Broncos country. No, I just said that he had put himself into prove it mode, but anyway, we had other headlines like Nathaniel Hackett failed Russell Wilson in the Broncos opening fiasco. That one came down a couple hours ago written by John Davis. You're the one we turn to

"And then they just went on to win the World Series anyway, despite winning only 87 games and having a rough stretch and J jaffe is looked at this, right? And others have basically backing into the playoffs in a slump, doesn't seem to be all that predictive, right? Based on what we can tell. So all else being equal, I guess you don't want to go into the playoffs dispirited because you've had a terrible end to the season, but I don't know how predictive it is, just like above and beyond, like, well, who's actually on your roster at that point, if it's a different team than it was when you were winning in April and May, well, that could be a cause for concern for sure. Right. And if they were to have a collapse such that they end up either in the wild card which just take, I mean, I think it's, I think the rays are 7 games back now. Okay. The Blue Jays are 8. Tampa one today. But you know, they're still in a not only are they in a division spot, but they're still in position to receive a first round. Bye. I mean, there are things that could unfold over the next little bit that might materially alter our perception of them going into October, but that would have more to do about the circumstance of them entering the postseason and rest and not getting a buy and all of that kind of stuff more than my opinion of the underlying roster. So I'm sure they'd rather have been winning than it isn't as if this is the way they wanted their second half to unfold. But if I were characterizing it to someone, I think I would say, you know, they probably were kind of hot when they were really hot, right? And they're probably colder than their roster really indicates right now. And so you take the spot in between those and it's like, this is a really good team that's going to be dangerous in October. Okay. Yeah. That's the Dodgers, though. No, or even the Astros, right? I mean, I think that when I it's not as if there aren't some things that we could poke at when it comes to that Houston roster either, but when I'm thinking about the team that I would be the most concerned about coming out of the AL, I don't know that it's the Yankees anymore, but that's only because they're like second to in my mind to that. So that's not the same as being actually worried about them, you know? I meant to mention by the way that questions like what's the worst slump by any playoff team to end the season. There's always going to be a big era effect there because the playoffs used to be much more exclusive than they are now. So with a 12 team playoff format you can get away with a much worse slump than you could have in the past when many fewer teams actually made the playoffs, but as long as you're aware of that going in. It can still be fun to look these things up. Okay, so here's another Dodgers dominance question this is from Eric, who said, as of today, August 25th, Trey Turner is leading the national league in singles, Freddie Freeman is leading the league in doubles and Gavin Lux is leading the league in triples. Cool. The Dodgers less have no candidate to lead the league in home runs, but this makes me curious whether any team has ever had a different player lead the league in each of the four types of hits. Oh. So Ryan says no. A team has never asked your dreams that quickly, but no. A team has never had four different players lead in the four different hit types. The closest he could come up with, so teams that have led in all four the 1927 Yankees, famously pretty good hitting team murderers row, so Earl combs led in singles and triples, Lou Gehrig led and doubles Babe Ruth led in homers. The 1908 tigers, Maddie macintyre, led in singles, Ty Cobb, led in doubles and triples and Sam Crawford, led in home runs, and then there have been a bunch of teams that have led in three with three different players since 1900. So just in 2019, the royals led in singles triples and homers. The 1964 twins led in double triples and homers, the 1949 cardinals led in singles doubles and triples 1915 tigers 1914 Philadelphia a's in 1903 pirates. They also led in three as well. I'll put that data online. But yeah, I guess that's the one knock on the Dodgers this season. They have not had someone who will lead the league in home runs. Well then what's it all for even then? Exactly. All right, here's another question from Daniel who wrote about a week ago after Lucas giolito's 7 earned run performance against the Astros today. I happened to notice that in his last 8 games has allowed every number of earned runs between zero and 7 with no repeats. Is this a record? Has there ever been a longer stretch of unique earned run totals for a pitcher? What about a longer stretch of unique consecutive earned run totals, for example, zero to 8 or one to 9? I will not say out loud that I am rooting for an 8 earned run game next time out because that would just be mean. Yeah. And Daniel also said I was only looking at his last ten games to find the 8 game streak in my previous email, but between June 11th and July 27th, giolito allowed the following earned run totals four 8 7 two one 5 zero 6 three. That's a 9 game streak is punking us. So Ryan reports, there have been 24 spans in history where a pitcher has had 9 consecutive games with 9 unique earned run totals, but that can include any total not necessarily consecutive totals, like zero to 8 or one to 9. Of those 24 only 9 were unique consecutive numbers, all zero through 8. So vents swirly did it in 2013, Bobby shantz, former podcast, just did it in 1955, Rick Russell, 1975 to 6 Matt Morris 2004 Rodrigo Lopez 2003 to four. Jimmy Haynes, 1999, Chris capuano 2004 John burkitt in 1996, and JP brubaker in 2021 just last year. Ryan says, never has a player had a ten game streak with ten unique consecutive numbers of earned runs. Although zero to 9 would be most likely if it were to happen, there has been exactly one streak of ten consecutive starts with ten different earned run totals that were not consecutive, and that was by chick Frazier from May 16th, 1901 through June 28th, 1901, in consecutive starts, he allowed 12, 5, three, 9, 8, four, zero, one, two, and 6. Earned runs. No one has had an 11 start streak, consecutive numbers, or otherwise. Would need two straight 8 plus earned run games with different earned run totals, of course, to join Frazier in three to beat him, seems fairly unlikely.

"7, 5, and 2013, a little dip. 7 in 2014, 7, 6, 6. Two in 2018, three 2018, three in 2020, and one was a punter and one was Matthew slater. And then three last year, Jackson judean and slater and Jackson's gone. And max was an alternate and did the Gritty after a penalty was thrown, yeah. But that's the thing with the and look, I'm not going to question them on whether they thought Jackson was worth the money. But at some point you got to pay money to somebody. I know. You know, all these other teams are. Guys are worse stuff. I was thinking about the value of the draft now with how the market has shifted with free agents, where if wide receivers are just worth more than they used to be, that explains all the stuff we were talking about with receivers, right? The best thing you can possibly do now is to get one of these guys under a really sick contract. And if you end up in a Jamar chase situation, where you have a number one superstar, but now you have him on this cheap. It's almost like the cousin of the cheaper QB. Yeah. So the inefficiencies in the draft now, what are the overpaid positions when the guys actually afraid to cornerbacks number one, right? JC Jackson, all of a sudden, 82 million, whatever, receivers another one. So it almost looks like the draft reflected where the money were the too much money has gone, right? So those cornerbacks going three, four, actually make more sense than it would have 5 years ago, right? Yes. And if you look at what Houston's roster is, it's a blank slate, so they say, okay, we've got tons of one of our tackles. We don't really have much other talent. We're not going to take another tackle, which is what everyone mock draft them to have. And they preferred sting Lee over gardeners, so they took them and they're just like, all right, throw daggers where you want. We're not paying him rookie money right now. We look at him as a number one corner. Jets at the same thing. And then the chiefs move up to get mcduffie. They felt the same way there. And you know, I don't know if it's funny because a lot of people told me that both JC horn and pat Satan were ranked higher than sauce and sting. It doesn't matter. It doesn't, it's not one thing's equivalent to the other because it's a different draft class. So whether or not they thought icky a quanto was going to be great. Houston was like, no, we want a cornerback because we have our tackle. We're paying him that money. We're not paying two tackles that money. We'll go and do that and we'll spread it out and we have our corner for the next four years before we gotta pay them. Your giants, thibodeau, sorry to get the Michael Strahan personality comparisons. It feels.

"Cabo start with you. What first round game in the south regional? Are you most looking forward to? Yeah, I would say probably loyal to Chicago and Ohio State. I think Vegas has it as something pretty close to a pick them and you're talking about in Ohio State team there with EJ Liddell, who's going to be looking for some redemption after they got bounced in the first round by oral Roberts last season back when the buckeyes were a two seat then they come in as a 7 seed this season and they've lost four out of their last 5. So I think loyal of Chicago is going to be a pick for a lot of just common folks out there filling in the bracket just based off a name recognition at this point, but I'm real curious to see if EJ Liddell can secure some redemption for the way that oil Roberts game ended last season. Chip? I know we've got to give respect, give some respect to Chris holtman, right? We need to give him, I guess. He doesn't get enough. He doesn't get enough, but he also doesn't have a lot of deep NCAA tournament runs. It's just, you know, just gonna throw that out there as we're talking about respect for Ohio State. I'll tell you what, the number one thing that I'm looking to check in on. And again, this is because I think the result will influence so much of how the entire bracket breaks. But Illinois Chattanooga is just such a fun game. And I think that when I look at Chattanooga and we see that the way that the mocks have played, we see that they're going to find themselves clearly at a disadvantage at trying to take care of Kofi coburn in general, but I think that that is a Chattanooga team that if Illinois plays down the way that Illinois has played down at times this season, then they potentially could be upset. Illinois at its ceiling could be the team that comes out of this region and makes it all the way to the final four and because I'm looking at a high variance team capable of a deep run, but one that also based on the worst of its basketball in the last month or so could get bounced. That four 13 Illinois Chattanooga game is a lot of my attention. My favorite ones Houston UAB. It's a 12 5 matchup. Houston, the outright AAC champions, Houston won the AAC tournament. Houston's top 5 in basically all computers, but only a 5 C because they really didn't get much done in the regular season in terms of big wins. I believe, as of this moment, they've got one quadrant one win, and it is Sunday's win over Memphis. David Cobb, do we believe in the Houston cougars or do we think jelly walker? Got a chance to upset him. He's a bucket. Jordan walker, name to know. Certainly a bucket in the south region. I've actually got UAB one in this. I think point spreads. This is the biggest upset, not just in my south region, but in my entire 60 18 bracket for the first round is UAB as a 12 and 8 and a half point favorite per the line that I picked today on CBS sports dot com excuse me, Houston in 8 and a half points every day. I think UAB wins the game straight up. It just feels to me like a team of destiny. They want a three overtime game and the C USA tournament semifinals. And then you're talking about a Houston team and we've been beating this drum all year to their credit. They've overcome it repeatedly, but those injuries at some point to market faster and trade on Mark have to catch up with Houston. And I just feel like this is a program that will eventually or pretty soon make another deep NCAA tournament run. I just can't look at this Houston roster with it in its current health condition and see a team that's going to do anything in this tournament. And perhaps I'll be lambasted in a few days for sleeping on Kelvin Sampson, who has done a phenomenal job this season with the hand he's been dealt, but I don't see Houston making a whole lot of noise in this bracket. I'm with you. And listen, my respect level for Kelvin Sampson is well documented. I think he's probably one of the 5 to ten best coaches in the sport. What he has built at Houston relative to what he took over, incredible. But here's the truth. There's not a team in the country that could lose two of his top four players and you would still think they're going to have a deep run in the NCAA tournament. The reason it really didn't impact Houston season regular season too much is because who was going to be them. Memphis? Memphis the only team that could just out talent them really, even after they lost two of the top four players. The American the season was just not very good outside of Houston, Memphis, and SMU, I guess. So missing to your top four players in the American athletic conference, if you're Kelvin sanson in Houston, that's how great he is. He could still walk through that pretty much without issue, but now you've got to walk through a bracket where you're running into real teams that are capable of beating you. I'm not insisting UAB will will be the team that does it. But I will be surprised if Houston is in the sweet 16. Before we go into the key element to that game, is three point shooting. Houston, one of the best three point shooting defenses in the country. UAB by percentage, one of the best three point shooting teams in the country. So Houston's three point defense, they allow opponents to shoot like 29% from three. Houston shoots about UAB shoots about 38% from three. Anyway, if you can hit threes, they're going to win that game. That's where it all comes down to because Houston's strength is defending the three. UAB is strength is hitting the three. Do we see any unlikely suite 16 teams here? We're going to get to that next, but real quick, let me remind you about our bracket challenge game. We want you to compete with us. So do it. I'm going to be in there, norlander, Cal Boone, David Cobb chip, Patterson. You can join at CBS sports dot com slash CBS I on brackets. That's.

"Today's open is a little more detailed and shout out to ceruti, who's just terrific with the ideas. And what I love about sir Rudy planning the seeds for ideas for open to different stuff we do in the podcast back to the radio show days is he can give me ten ideas like an ignore ten and I know I'm getting an 11th. So we've had a few that we've kind of kicked around and we haven't executed, but this one's really good. So as we're ending up on this 2021 NFL season, I want to ask a simple question. What are the worst 5 franchises to be right now? I mean, that's it. You can go ownership, you can go roster, you can go staffing, you can do all these different things. And I reach out to a couple of different NFL sources over this. So basically, the premise is what ceruti. We're looking at the 32 teams and going which are the 5, maybe we'll throw in a 6 there. As it stands right now, moving forward the next two or three years, which are the 5 or worse 6 positioned NFL franchises. Is that fair? Is that what we're doing? I think right now there are 6 teams, definitely 5, maybe 6 that are clearly the basement of the NFL. And I was just kind of interested because I work on the New York podcast, the Chinese Trump ski and the idea came from giants fans, they have, I think the second worst record in the entire league over the last three years, I think that Jess is the only team that's worse, which is sick for New York. And they think that their ownership is a disaster. They think their team is a disaster and basically they think that they are the most hopeless situation in league right now. Because at least you could say the jets are they have Zack Wilson, like they're sort of building the Giants like where are you guys going? You know, the quarterback isn't good. Roster's not good. The GM of the head coach don't be like. So my thought was, who does that bottom group of teams and what are the teams that are the most likely to get out of that in the next couple of years? Well said, all right, so let's go over win loss records the last 5 years because it's the 5 year stretch here. The jets are the worst at 22 and 58. The Giants are only a game better. So the worst two records in the NFL over the last 5 years are the jets and then the Giants. Third worst records Jacksonville, fourth is Detroit, 5th is actually Cincinnati, but I think for the purposes of where their position now with their roster and what we all think of Joe burrow. They're just not in the discussion, although historically Cincinnati would usually be in this conversation because of ownership, but talking and I'll get some of the source stuff here as well because I talked to two national NFL people and then also a draft person not Todd mcshay. I wanted to kind of back up some of the PFF roster stuff because they did a roster ranking stuff right before the season started. So again, one loss records, jets worst giants, Jacksonville, then Detroit. Then Cincinnati, Washington 7th and a team that was brought up not only by my own observations here Rudy, but also by the people we talked to Houston, Houston actually, because they had a better record with Bill Brian and people realized there are only the 11th worst record, but I think they make a strong argument for sort of the directionless place that franchises right now. If you look at roster rankings, right? PFF ranked Houston's roster the worst out of all 32 teams this summer. They had Detroit 31st, the jets 30th, Philly was 29th, and jaylen hurts, you know, he's putting up some numbers now and I'm not going just off the Washington stuff. There's numbers that you can sort and jaylen hurts shines in some of that stuff. And I bought a credit two to how they figured out a better way to work with him. Jacksonville has the 5th worst roster based on PFF, then it's Carolina Las Vegas, Atlanta, Cincinnati, which is higher now because of who burrow is Chicago's 23rd Chicago gets a mention. They have the Giants as the 19th best roster. I don't even think PFF would think that that's accurate now as we're through 2021. I just don't. So I'm not calling them out for that. It's just what they are. Draft analyst, I asked him. I said, all right, give me the 5 worst rosters in the NFL as of right now, which again, it's December versus when PF did these things in the summer. He had, in no order, the Lions Jacksonville, both New York teams again, giants and Jess and he threw the bears in there. I asked, here's one national writer. I said, all right, give me your 5 worst situations, projecting out the next two or three years. Who would you not want to be? He put the jets, the Giants, Detroit. Jacksonville, Houston, and he said, potentially even the Washington football team. And then one other piece that we have on this, another senior writer, he put in Houston, Washington, both New York teams again, and then Denver. If you don't know the Denver ownership situation, it's a mess for whatever reason it hasn't been a big national story. It's a huge story in Denver. There's a trustee named Joe Ellis who's been with the franchise. I think almost 40 years and when pat bohlen died, he was kind of left to oversee the trust. There are children from two different women with pat bolan in a look, he got married again, so whatever. And then John Elway, it feels like the Elway Ellis combination is really just benefited from this for a long time. It's not ideal. There's just no way I can put the Denver Broncos in the 5 worst. I don't feel that way. So we can get to a bunch of different things here. Here's what's here's what's a constant. It's both New York teams, Jacksonville is brought up by two of the three guys. The bears are worth discussion. Let me just before we kind of come up with what we think the final list should be because there's still some other thoughts I have on this. Like where did you lean to really? Like, what do you think some of the arguments here is if we try to whittle this down to 5 or 6? I think you have to look at obviously the last couple of years and that's where the jets and the Giants just dominate everybody else from a record standpoint. And then I look at because the ownership thing I don't know as much about. We can lean on our insiders and our draft guys about what how easy it is to get decisions and turn a franchise around and how bad an owner is and how much they metal and things like that. I don't know about that. I'm looking at cap space. I'm looking at what division they're in. I'm looking at their quarterback situations, and that's sort of how I determine my list. So I'd actually probably have the Jags. I think the Jags could be a great job. And I think you could probably turn that thing around. Now, I don't know, again, shot con. I don't know anything about him. I know that he owns Fulham. I know he does like All Elite Wrestling and those things have been somewhat successful in the Jaguars have been a disaster. So I look at a team like Jacksonville go just on paper with the cap space they have, they might have the number one draft pick coming up in Trevor Lawrence like I'd want that job. If I'm a GM or a head coach to be like, I could turn this thing around kind of fast..

"I'll take this next game brief portion here Carolina minus four liked also moneyline minus two hundred pretty much. That game is i. Don't like the jets at all either new head coach. They are their whole secondary is young. They're all either first or second year in the secondary areas to my bed office the next game carolina game I think i fear liner via underrated with robbie aniston dj more in tears. Marshall i love mccaffrey's back. Sam darnold revenge game on a revenge game for sure even with robert sal who do like i just don't think the jets are gonna have any team carolina. I let the coaching staff personnel. I like the match ups. All even carolina so to me minus four i lay minus six and a half or a touchdown. So i didn't carolina's gonna roll on that one. Also one of those two games. Carolina in san fran during survival bulls two games. Look into for your picking the week. Yeah so That's a lot of people. There's not a lot of people's Survive place you can save a good team By plan them. And i think the rookie head goes. I had a stat submitted out to you. They're like to to To an eleven their past last last. Thirteen games Dinner debut including your rookie head coach with rookie quarterback so it's double-whammy for wherever stats that can be with for the jets. One second sorry. My bars are low I don't have any process for that game. I don't have any props for that game. I didn't feel comfortable. Planning of them. Looked really any props. In general. Except ron was trying to get into these. Somebody's money lines in some of these spreads before a week one sexual easier it just because it's because no one else. Yeah but saying. I think you can smell like allowed team stinks. I know they're there for the dow. Speak one by military where it's hard to chess and i'm glitch Screen yet you're you look like you're very What's pixellated pixelated. Amador off my cam out. Goffman Hammer for now puts you full full screen now. This whole view are met now love to see it not well foolish. You're not flushing right now at this all right anything else to carolina game. We're trying to these technical difficulties now. is my voice. Good voice. Explain to you. Sound good with me. But they say let them go. Go go to your next to to the next time i got is the jacksonville again was minus three announced that minus three and a half money linus minus one ninety Similar things where rookie coaches this different. Because we're getting rookie verse. Rookie fred coaches. I even with tyrod taylor being named the starter in houston. I kind of respect him as like a fits magic lipa guy where their backup quarterback Terrible i just don't think houston's roster is it's embarrassing the lions in houston. I'm gonna bet against every single week. i don't like anything about them. I touch last week in houston. They have rookie coach. They lost the watson they lost. Jj watt the trade hopkins. The jeans mass. Everything about that. Team to me is dysfunctional. Jacksonville doesn't get a great start in the summer with a lawyer. But i feel like it's still gonna be a cakewalk for them lawrence every single level of the field. I feel like every position group. That jackson's equal better to houston..

"And i want you to see this marcus fears. They don't have a category called assists in football but if they did then this player should get one watches about to go down watches teammate. Grab it will get him back up. Going in for the touchdown and this is what do you think. That's what's your boys. That's what you're supposed to do for you. They supposed to catch you when you fall in this This bears a warning. Just feels to do but people standing in the damn whiteboard. He's marcus holding a grudge. Let go spirit let it go. It's two segments that played graziano hospital for a month of this happened in my legs. This is a wonderful wonderful thing. That's just a spectacular. Look at wayne. They should do that in the nfl guy standing there next to a receiver to hold him up. Are they allowed to gets not and grazziano meantime. Let's get the business he. Let's run the hurry up with a bunch of different. Nfl news including the latest on what was a busy day in conversations about the shawn watson trade room just conversations menacing. Steve handing does actually happen today. Teams have to have the roster's down to fifty three by four pm eastern today if he's on houston's roster that means they're comfortable going all season and leaving him inactive effectively playing with fifty two if they move him to another team. Obviously that'll be big news. We're watching for that today. Meanwhile serious news. The new orleans saints have had to relocate their whole operation because of hurricane ida there the practicing this week in dallas cowboys stadium. And sean payton said yesterday. They honestly do not know where they'll have to practice next week. Seems unlikely they'll be able to go back. Obviously loss of power there and other damage that really. Nobody knows the extent of yet hoping for the best for everyone there the saints meanwhile are on the move and then last night the the nfl sent a memo teams. About this year's kovin protocols the one of the most significant changes they've decided to past vaccinated players in personnel every seven days as opposed to every fourteen which was in the original proposal. This is because of the proliferation of the delta variant and the number of positive tests among vaccinated individuals The union wants every day testing. They're still pushing for that. But this is as far.

"So sure the quarterbacks that accurate of a conversation for watch being on the field is another day but yes. This is an excellent pick in the sixteenth around collins looks like he's going to fight through lots of opportunities to fight through lots of Situational opportunities to make a splash on the field. And stay on the field. Because there's not players Available or many players on the houston roster. That look like complete like him. No there's not an. How nervous were you last night. When you're watching that hall of fame game With the cowboys and steelers chase capable pool makes that great catch and then he leaves the field. How nervous are you and being president or at least vp of the national fan club. A lotta years in this have kept me not to be nervous about players as they walk off the field indika. The television camera doesn't stay on them that you watch the attention that they get off the field and you watch how they how they act when they're on the sidelines. But you know the only thing really the only injury that i here that can't be treated by the medical staff and means things for not only the player but for fantasy. Football are the head injuries and concussions. Those can't be. They can't be stay. They can't be medicated. And they can't be cured Only time will allow player to move through those are really fantasy perspective The only thing that really really bothers me. Farrell from fantasy perspective was there anything to glean from the hall of fame game between the cowboys and steelers with so many starters missing action. So many starters held out we you know we did see beyond bianca. Johnson we did see chase klay pool. We saw nausea harris pony pollard. Was there anything to glean from that game. Are you kind of just kind of growing out at this point. Well the only thing that i could take from that issue of that game balki was that a nausea harris. Look good and clean in the uniform. He's moving very very well It i don't know what jar wins. Availability was and the game last night. We look like dallas was quickly interested in having their second team on the field in a jar could play. That means that he may be the first time in. That's been question mark in my mind. I think everybody everybody's giving the job Schultz to me was very capable players Just wasn't prepared to handle that. That physician to darwin in dallas dallas did at the wide receiver spot. If anything happens to the main three looks like they're gonna be okay. They will be okay. I love the dallas offense. This year this will be a recurring theme as we continue our shows throughout august. And i will let the listeners. Know who i will be..

"On the houston roster right now right like they sound like thirty of them. It's unbelievable like mark ingram zoo. Alex ericsson dante monkeys to brian. Izzo goes on and on and on tyrod taylor. Mead it goes on and on so you're right. It's a very interesting new looking roster from last year but have wide receiver. Look here's your situation. Brandin cooks clear number. One wide receiver Currently you have randall. Cobb there some rumors there with an aaron rodgers connection. Perhaps in green bay. We'll see how that plays out but for now he's on the roster if he's not that opens up the slot and that could be kiki. Ut it could be. Alex ericson always seems to work his way into targets and whatever offense us in in it's of course it's anthony miller who perhaps could take that gig Look miller was in a chicago. Situation is very needy. The wide receiver position. he never emerged. It didn't happen. He had plenty of opportunities. You play tons of snaps. He saw plenty of targets at times he just didn't have allen robinson as the clear guy there And it last year a day three rookie. Darnall mooney just blew by him on the depth chart immediately the target. Just weren't there for miller so he didn't emerged there. the situation. assuming no shawn watson is probably not going to be much better here in houston in terms of offensive efficiency. And it's hard to imagine that he breaks out key of chris. Conley there who's underrated and they also have niko collins at third round pick from this season who will make an impact so I just i don't have any interest in ten and twelve team leagues. I won't be drafted in to find moving to dallas cowboys. Of course one of two teams to report earliest that being the steelers as as they play in the hall of fame game which is nine days from right now. Placed amari cooper on appeals to begin the preseason this. I don't think there's a major concern too correct. I'm wrong but it might be a good time. Should refresh people. On what the p. Appealing means and how it serves players at this point a training camp right now said they can come off at any time. The big deal for p. appeals is when we enter the season because then you're looking at mandatory number of weeks or held out but it's not uncommon to see players put on that to start the season if they're coming with any sort of injury teams can elevate them off that change sir status at any point in times marin cooper's coming off ankle surgery in january if there were reports they still having some. I think irritation was the word that was used in. June's soreness not totally unexpected. It remember mario. Cooper was often on the injury report. Which foot or ankle issues. And even when you go back to. When he was with the raiders he was dealing on and off again planner fashion issue. So he he's had things going on for awhile. I think the attempt was to address it. The off-season inch note amari cooper having surgery in january. When michael thomas could have had his but in any event todd archer did report on tuesday eric. Today's tuesday on monday. That jerry jones said he expects amari cooper to be back after I think that second game which i think is august thirteenth. So in any event he expects them to return to practice at some point there and maybe even make an appearance. Cert preseason game briefly so it doesn't sound like the cowboys are worried. I don't think we should be i. I feel the same way. And if there was a team that had the ability to withstand an injury to one of their top wide receivers. It's the cowboys. Because if this feels incredibly unlikely right now if marker ever did miss time due to the ankle injury to begin this season they would go with. Michael gallup does are wide receiver to very accomplished incapable player in his own. Right before we get to a couple of thoughts from mike. Recent most recent wide receiver through wide receiver set piece on. Espn plus defined you. I want to ask you about the updated kobe policy. We hope that the nfl was not impacted by cova this year in a way that it was last year on occasion. But we know that this pandemic is still not over. What can you tell us about. The updated cove policies. It what might be pertinent to some of the people that follow been fantasy football. Yeah i was on a call with the nfl on friday where they were updating. Those of us who are on the call with all the protocol changes in the vaccination rates. And i think there are a couple of key takeaways so at that time Which was friday. And so course were recording on tuesday. There have been a few changes because an encouraging note is that some players have continued to initiate their vaccination process. I think as they've gotten to camp and they see that there are differences between the have the have nots in terms of what they're able to do things. Some of them are getting on board. But as a friday eighty percent of the players had begun the vaccination process and by that means they had had at least one injection if it was a two-part injection at that point nine clubs were at greater than or equal to ninety percent fully vaccinated. Five clubs. were below or to seventy percent vaccinated so There's there's concern about that because even if you look at the timeline initiate the vaccination process now so you have first injection yet another two. You have another period of time for the second injection. You're talking at least four weeks and beyond to get through that fullbacks nation process so In terms of when they're considered complete as far as vaccination that changes their status the clubs have the different rules if you are fully vaccinated versus not in terms of the testing cadence for example if you're unvaccinated you were are still required to undergo daily testing on site and you have to wait to enter the silver until your test results. Come back if you're vaccinated..

"They like to use a lot for is for him. Has cory seager. Offensively and brandon crawford defensively combined. He's a really really good pickup for those red sox though he is definitely going to He's definitely gonna have a fantastic A career i think ease is not as highly touted as a one soto but he is a good pickup for this team for sure. Like that's not really even going to be a a question. I think that The red sox are probably going to use him because it because of how the red sox are performing currently. I think that they actually might. I don't know if they would flip him this early. Just drafting him. But if the red sox are looking to add a huge piece in the next two or three years this kid is going to be a absolute beast like he's going to be an absolute beast in trade talks like this. This pick i think more than any of the picks or so far. Is i think going to be the biggest trade peace out of everything just because i think the red sox are pretty set zander bogart's but they also might try and keep marcelo mayor in their control just because he's going to be a lot cheaper once that contract once those contracts are up and if if zander bogart's it keeps balling out like he does and in the red sox might happen. The red sox might have to pay him and based on their recent trends. The red sox don't seem to be wanting to go into that ballgame anymore where they're going to be competing with the yankees and the dodgers for the highest payroll in baseball. I think that the red sox are gonna take a more Moneyball esque approach to their team in the future. And i think that. Like i think that marcella mayor next year could be used to go and get a a a number two ace like at one. Be as kind of a thing but up next though is colton kausar of an outfielder from sam houston and this is actually a kind of really cool. Pick because Well for me specifically just because the starting catcher on seem houston west foles. A was a player for the victoria. Generals during the two thousand twenty season in texas collegiate league and i have worked for the victoria generals for the last three seasons and west was actually more are my family's host kid so i actually know wes and I and i met a few other players on the sam houston roster. I haven't met colson cower yet but he is an absolute beast and i am really expecting I'm really hoping that a lot of those guys like sam houston actually has some very talented prospects. one being westphal's at catcher. He's really good. Defensive catcher needs a little bit of work with his his more consistently with his stick as defensive catcher goes. He's one of the best in college baseball. And then they also have. Eric davila at shortstop. Ironically another guy. I know but i think that dhabihullah if he were if he is to improve upon maybe his extra bass hitting and hitting power. I think he is a guy that could get drafted next year as well. Both those guys are going to be eligible for the draft next year. Out of sam. Houston so just keep your eyes out for you. Know those those guys right there Another guy that was actually drafted in The six round and his name is spencer. Aren getty he was a so like i said the last three seasons so back from twenty nineteen He was victoria general as well. He was a very very excellent pitcher for this or for that general's team that ended up losing in the playoffs but still an excellent player and he actually got drafted in the sixth round to the houston astros. So congratulations to you. Spencer on getty and everybody who actually got drafted and i'm sorry. I went off topic a little bit right there. But it's it's really cool seeing guys that you might not know personally but you know players that played with them and kind of thing lake Four example another example. While i go off topic a little bit right here. One of my coaches Playing select baseball. Growing up in south. Texas i had a A coach by the name of kendrick perkins who was in the red sox organization for a few years at the same time. That movie bets was in in the Same same minor league system and in fact he and mookie betts and kendrick perkins My coach were actually roommates and he claims that they are very good friends. And i You know. I obviously haven't asked him to back it up or anything but it's still pretty cool to see like guys like that that you know just absolutely Doing great things that you kind of you. Kind of feel a special connection to them. Even though you're one connection away from them you know somebody that knows them. It's still it's kind of cool when you see things like this happen. But the d backs ended up going with a shortstop but the orioles picked colson cower. And we weren't really sure what the orioles were going to go with at number five and they chose an extremely talented player. Well also taking one who is likely going to command a lower signing bonus than some of the other guys that are available giving baltimore a little bit more flexibility to spend later in the draft in in in mlb networks. Kind of mind cowers. Kausar.
