"Loving wife, a devoted mother. She also stole atomic secrets and gave them to the Soviets. Meet the woman whose deception kickstarted the Cold War on the spy who stole the atom bomb, and what if they catch you? Then I shall be shot. Come back. Relive history's most death defying escapes. It's impossible escapes, Civil War, watch now on CuriosityStream, and will plans are $20, just a dollar 67 a month is in CuriosityStream dot com. They're really good. They're really, really good. They have 34 wins. And the angels, by the way, despite their 11 I'm gonna say this again, 11 in a row. Have you ever been a part of an 11 in a row lost street? Unfortunately. Oh no. Oh, I think we're on a team that I think lost ten in a row and one tin in a row like in like a month span. It was kind of crazy. But yes, yeah, let's make no mistake. I have played on bad teams. Bad, bad teams. But I don't think I've ever remembered losing 11 like that's just, that's gotta be feeling like trying to do backstrokes and quicksand. Like, it's just gotta be a nightmare that scenario. But like, listen, despite the 11 in a row, they're still in second place in their division. I mean, they're not gonna catch the Astros, but the team that I think is surprising all of us at the moment because we all agree, even though they did spend some money this off season, they're not very good, but they've been playing okay as of late. Yeah. Texas Rangers. I mean, and, you know, it's one of those things that they've got enough talent now where they can win some games. They got some young starting pitching, Martin Perez has been phenomenal for that ball club. And so, and they've been waiting on him for a while. But yeah, I mean, listen, I mean, listen, you got Seeger in your lineup. You got simming in your lineup as well. They got some guys. They got some guys on that team offensively. So it's not a surprise that they've been able to win some games because just frankly, their roster is better this year. And so we'll see if that lasts, but certainly you have to be encouraged, right? That your ball club is starting to play better. I think you made this point at the beginning of the year. There's still a year or two away from like really competing. There are some pieces that they have to kind of to get right. But I'm not surprised that they're playing decent base. We're playing about 500 ball. Yeah, but I mean, initially, they had three wins, I think, in like their first 15 games, which was definitely setting off alarms, but yeah, they've really put together, you know, around a 500 season thus far, which, I mean, we were looking at them like they were the reds about three weeks ago. I'm glad they're not the reds. But don't worry, everybody, 'cause the red is still the red. So we have some new ribs. You know, we'll see if the fantasy football thing is cracking again at the end of the off season. Yeah, and you know, last subject to touch on, you know, there was a lot of pride week throughout the weekend last week. And it's something I do want to touch on real quick because there were a few raise players that did opt not to wear it. Which is their right. I totally disagree with this. I can't stress this enough. But the reason why is because I played with multiple homosexual players that never told a single teammate or anybody about it. And as someone that has played this game as you have Tony, you know, I unfortunately spent most of my time in the minor leagues. I spent most of my time in triple-A. And I got a couple of cups of coffee, which was great. But I can't stress enough how hard it was that grind, you know, there were times where I lived in my car in my career. And grinded it out. And I did this all while being completely outward who I was, and I had the luxury of doing that. I had other teammates who didn't. And I will think about that for the rest of my life, how hard I struggled personally and mentally through my career. And I didn't even have to hide who I was. It breaks my heart when I think about it because any distraction can harm you in this game or any game. I can't imagine that type of burden, which I don't think is a burden, but they feel it is because you have teammates like this that are going out, putting out these statements. Well, because of religion, I don't agree with your existence. And that's something that does truly irk me. And I hope we can get it. Yeah, you know, we're still, we're still trying to, it seems like as a society. It seems like we've come a long way, but there's still some steps we need to take in terms of inclusion. And you're right, the game is hard enough as it is. And to have to carry that and it's not it's only a burden because they have to, you know, they have to keep it a secret for fear of, you know, what the reaction will be and how they'll be treated thereafter. And we've come a long way, but there's just a lot more space that we need to cover, especially in terms of sexuality in our society. And it is sad. Nobody should have to feel like they have to keep that a secret, but you know, that is where we are and, you know, hopefully we can move to get better. It is sad. It does make, especially when.

"Junior and Odyssey insider Cody decker. Another team that's not getting a lot of noise which is kind of unusual to me is the Astros. I feel like I feel like this team has reigned over the American League west. And I think because they've lost a superstar. It seems like every free agency for the last 5 years. We've gradually talked about them less and less and less. And now it's weird to say this team is 8 games up 8 and a half games up in American League west. And I feel like they're not being talked about at all. Okay. I'm going to put some of the blame on not necessarily you and me, Tony, but I'm talking about the whole media group as a whole. But you and me are definitely partially to blame because you and I have said this on this show many times. We truly thought that the Astros were not going to be winning this year. We truly thought this. All of us thought this was the Mariners turn, finally. We all thought the angels were gonna be somewhat real this year. And we all looked at Correa and Springer Bing gone. The list is coal. I mean, coal gone. Getting back Verlander at 40 after Tommy John surgery, we weren't expecting him to be Justin Verlander still. Listen, and also let's let's not pretend that we all didn't want them finally. I think that has a lot to do with it too. I mean, we really wanted it to happen. So we all tried so hard to will it into existence and unfortunately we can't have nice things. So the Astros are here to speak. We can't have nice things. And you know, credit to dusty baker, credit to that, that Astros front office. I mean, they've patched it together. They're not only passed together. They basically replace some parts that you felt like were almost irreplaceable, right? I mean, Carlos Correa leaves for Minnesota. Then they have all of a sudden have this kid at shortstop that is basically not only filling in the void. He's doing it quite well at the shortstop position at such a young age. And I guess I shouldn't be surprised by what we've seen from the Astros, but I mean, when you see a young kid like Pena come up and just, you know, make himself at home. And then you see Verlander who he does have a little bit of this Nolan Ryan to him, right? It just seems like no matter how old he gets, he'll still be able to pinpoint a heater and when he needs to get a little bit of extra, he can go back in the tank and grab it and find a 96 97 for you. He's going to be a Hall of Famer when it's all said and done. It helps to have guys like that on your roster. You know, can I ask you a question, Johnny? This is something this actually just kind of it's not on the rundown. It just kind of pops in my head. We're talking about dusty a little bit. I don't have a lot of regrets in my career. I mean, I have one or two little things here and there. Like I always think about 2016, I had the choice between signing between three teams and there was one I wanted to sign with and I didn't sign with the cubs, but I wanted to. I ended up signing with the royals, which was not necessarily a bad decision. It was just not the right decision. My other regret was like, I never got a chance to go play in Japan. I really wanted to play in Japan. And my last regret, I always wanted to play for dusty baker. It was like a dream of mine to play for dusty. A combination of my mentor growing up was Reggie Smith. Him his best friend was dusty. So I always thought playing for dusty would be like playing for Reggie. So it was just a dream of mine. And I'm jealous of every player on the Astros that gets this. I had a bunch of friends that played for dusty, and they have made it so that that's all, that's one of the only regrets I have is that I never got a chance to play for them because everybody you talk to that's played for them. Only has great things to say. He only seems to get the best out of his guides. And that's somebody you want to play for, right? That's somebody who gets it, who understands the everyday grind of it. And that can't be said for everybody. And that's the reality of it. And I think you're right. I mean, you had a great mentor in Reggie Smith. I mean, one of the hitting gurus, best hitting grooves of all time, in my opinion. But him and dusty seem like they're cut from that same cloth. And yeah, no, I'm with you on that. I wish I could have had the chance to play for desi, that would have been awesome. All right, now let's get to the story. We've all been waiting for. The angels. The angels suck, man. They suck. They suck. I knew it. We all knew it. We tried to we wanted them to do this. We want them to win. I want the angels to win more than anybody else. I'm not even an angel fan. In fact, the growing up I was a Dodger fan and I hated the angels. Now I'm, I practically marking myself as an angel fan, 'cause I want them to win so bad because I want Otani and trout in the playoffs. More than just about anything. But like I said, we don't get to have nice things. This team has lost 11 in a row, trout has gone over as almost last 30, which is unheard of. Oh my God, what do you think, man? This team, they drafted 20 pitchers last year because they know what the problem is. Yet they have an owner who is apparently a maniacal enough to just spend money only on offense. And this team will never win because of it. I'm a big believer that it starts at the top and it trickles down. I mean, some of the stuff that the angels are marred in, outside of baseball. Is an indicator, right? And you're right. They just have made bad financial decisions. Their offenses should be as good as any. But we all hedged even as they were playing well. I was like, man, these pictures, man. Cinder guard, okay, I gave you that one. So, hey, I gave you that one. But then, you know, the renzo keep this up, I mean, there's just a bunch of question marks and we're all starting to see it kind of dude. They called up a guy they drafted in the 12th round last year. And by the way, he's been arguably one of their best arms. Since he's been up, and it's not like he's been lightening it up. He's been pitching. But if that's the best you're having right now, decent at the big league level, doesn't cut it. It just doesn't. And so if you're depending on decent. And listen, I kind of felt like, you know, even though you're going early, you looked at shohei's number on the mound. They're not like Cy Young numbers. And that's who he was last year, right? I mean, he was that good last season. You're not getting those type of performances, at least yet. And if you're not getting those performances from your ace, it's not going to be good for the rest of the rotation. It's just normally isn't. And that's where they are. And then you throw on top of it, Mike Trout, the world's greatest player, has not hit recently. Now you've got both hands tied behind your back. You already playing with one hand tied behind you. But now you can't do it with you. It's just impossible. And the Astros, as we said, had really good, so. Do more of what you love. Like hug more kittens. And more properties. You know early in that game and you're sitting there saying alright is this enough is enough where we're going to be able to get by with this or we're gonna need more but the way that lance was pitching You know he put the team on his back. And i think it says everything about him as as a as a person But more than that as a pitcher and his continued developing into a guy who has that potential As a as a baseball guy that analyzes this talent and the evaluates meaning you do how closest fromberg getting back to being from. I mean the command. Got to cut down on the walks. Where's he at right now on your mind. I mean he's just going through the normal ups and downs. I i don't think he's he's not from her or or he is from. I mean every time. I see him. He's he's the same guy I have started calling him from is to in space and getting the t. shirt But that he's he's gonna he's gonna have ups and down all gonna have ups and downs and the course correction that we're gonna put in place that that strong and pitching coaches are working on with them. We have every confidence that he's going to be back to being that guy and if you have him you know in the form that he was in last year and early this year. And then you have lance mccullers you have a hall of famer and zack cranky of an all and jayco to rizzi. You have luis garcia. Who's certainly coming on as a very impressive starter. And then hopefully jose or keady coming back with some big postseason experience. We feel like we have a lot of weapons out there that we can count. How tough was it move miles straw for you really really tough. I i can't. I can't i can't express it was this was a situation. Where your your hearts dummy one thing but you look at the roster and what you feel like it needs in order to being a physician to compete and you feel like this is a tough decision that you have to make for the organization that you have to make for the organization But i think that having jake myers and chas mccormack gave us the the comfort i think to do that. Move until they got like film on. Who's who's been able to get some really big outs for for the past couple of years we feel like with this rosser. We're in a better position to succeed for the next few years. But that doesn't lessen how difficult it was to to make that move and to call miles and explain it to him But look these. Things are called trades. they're not called ripoffs And you know the the cleveland. Indians are a very good organization They had identified miles or somebody that they could. They could use a little bit of a A little bit easier to move giving the state of their roster and this is a baseball three. I think it made sense for both sides But it was a difficult decision. What what was his reaction when you told him he was great he. He's total pro. He was out having brunch with talker. When i call them You know he's quiet and he he thanked us for for everything But but he understood. And i think he was a little bit shocked But same time again. Just a total pro and everything you expect from a guy of of mild straws care Caliber character a couple more questions for our guy. James click astros. Gm here on the west coast. Big one tonight. Against max scherzer astros take three. Oh win last night into this game okay. Are you concerned with bodies of not getting whether it's carlos or jose or yuli enough rest down the stretch before the postseason. It's something that we are managing and it's something that are strengthening conditioning. Guys keeping very close. I on and they let dusty no when guys need a day and With off as that are coming up. We're off again on monday. And then again next thursday and then we have enough off as in august and hopefully with ones bregman gets back to that that allows move the rosser around and and get a few guys extra day off year there. I think we'll be able to to get through it but is it is a constant challenge. And it's something that dusty deals with exceptionally well which leads me to my last question. And we're looking right through it on the the truth serum how concerned are you and we know what he wants to do. How concerned you about the soft tissue stuff right now for the rest of the year with alex. Well anytime you have a series of these injuries you start to worried about it but at the same time allergists on the ability to recover from these things very quickly More quickly than than almost anybody. That that i've been around and so if if we are unlucky and you know something something goes wrong on us the rest of the season he the guy who knows how to get himself back out there We're gonna continue to talk to him and work with them on on ways to get this stuff completely behind us and they're plenty of guys who had soft tissue injuries early in their career. Were able to get past them and and be fully healthy Alex is going to get there. He's either tremendous competitor He's he's always pushing pushing hard to get back healthy and that's the kind of thing that we wanting all of our guys. It's our job to make sure that he's not person themselves hard and and that we get him out there. Get them fully healthy but look. It's a concern absolutely but at the same time. "Sportstalk seven ninety three hundred shot. Saudi show james click and a little more than an hour astros win. Three enough lasts. Mccullers was electric last night in. What was a phenomenal atmosphere. Did you'd be hard pressed even find that In the post season and kudos to good dodger fans who showed up and made that atmosphere fantastic. And you know just to to those who didn't well most of us don't have time for you but you know what one of these days you'll grow up from being a little league parent to the cote two players on both teams you provide thrills and that's why you buy tickets that's why we go tickets to watch two teams loaded with great players who understand these moments and you'll get it again tonight with max scherzer taking the hill against jake literacy all right the garcia situation the bregman situation. I don't have a problem when it gets to grave and being here had to happen period. Yeah that's one now. I get john's point about his concerns. We've i i've thrown it out there. We have put our concerns out front. Steve sparks talked about it. Listen if you think that the soft tissue part of this is just going to be one hundred percent healed full go. Every time he pops out of the batter's box bregman. I mean you're going to french. A little nerve every time if he limps out of the bout or has to make a great play. Going into the whole it really. It's going to be concerned. We know he wants to play hell. He's a grinder and a competitor. So yes it has to be a concern. I get it. But when all is said and done and john makes a great point about the debt situation with the with the players and what happens if bregman continues or something else she goes down of course it. Who's gonna have the bigger impact on this just about to say that was my point when the season is over is good as taurel may end up being in seattle and he did some good things here and i hope he is lights phenomenal for them. When the season is over the grave. Men's impact we'll have far exceeded. Toro's yeah on this roster. I don't know about stats on this roster now. John's concern about depth and bregman. If you're concerned about bregman and twenty twenty one you ain't watching you should be concerned and you should. We gotta hope that nothing happens or some injury to one of the other cats like carlos or one of those god forbid and not getting any rest as you head down the stretch. Yeah there is a concern but my bigger concern eight say was bullpen. And now if this keeps up and you keep getting this. And i'm gonna tell you having a guy like graffman does it is. It's contagious to other guys in the bullpen. I'm just telling yet is standing because you come in behind him and he f- i like all the worries me about in matters. You don't wanna be the guy who let's team down now. You don't ever want to be that but when you sit and watch this cat you're like and it also has a major effect on the starting pitching staff. You heard mccullers talk about the guys this nasty. So there's no point time you're saying okay of grave up and i'm pitching i'm okay. We're gonna be just fine thank you. He'll get out of this jam. Get out of this thinning. He'll start fresh inning and bingo bango bongo. You'll be out of that inning for the most. He's been that good this year. He's been at times unhittable he just has and you're not scoring on the guy's phenomenal so as a guy who missed a great deal of it because of the covert situation so i get john's point because i'm with him on my concern about bregman and depth there but i got news for if the astros win the world series grave. Men will have had a much bigger impact in toro. We'll have had on this team. That's the way i feel. yeah graven. Is they needed him. More than anything. Like robo garcia star game last night. The astros win the game last night. They did three. Oh at the end of the day. They had to pay something to get rid of a player. James click talked by. They didn't wanna give abraham tour their prefer to keep him. But that was the cost of getting thing that was going to be more impact on your team and the biggest glaring need and you got to move past it. You can't sit there and worry about it because again. You've got the better player in the deal. Abraham toro is a good player. Kindergarten is a better player. More impactful player to this team and you saw it again last night. You've seen it twice. Since he's been here he's electric. He's everything they've been missing and in the postseason. You gotta have guys that you can count on to get out. And now they have maybe one of the best arms in baseball this season out of the bullpen. Go that they're gonna trust period of story. You got to move on from being worried. About abraham torah. Hopefully bregman comes back and rather than later. I would assume he's going to eat. Got back into his rehab last night. You're always going to be worse of it and you'll have to stop you. You'll be able to stop worrying about robo garcia and that's a mistake dash is gonna have to face in the off. Season is that they will have to remember that this the old years they could probably get by with this and go to the waiver market and pick up a player in this month of august. They can't do that now. They'll have to evaluate their death in terms of infield and outfield in the off season and address it properly because they've not done enough when they had to go from it. But you make the trade a million times and you do it again every single time and you know what i'm saying i'm with you and you know what i don't give a fuzzy rat's ass about right now twenty twenty two right now now. I could care less. I care about this great getting this done now. All address that. I'm not going chase a ghost borrow trouble. That troubles going to present. What i say trouble depth injuries contracts carreira. Getting more depth as you as you head around hit into the hot stove all right now. I got one concern. Well there's a couple of keeping people healthy but winning winning tonight and that's me and you talk about fans living in the moment we also as as i mean as a play. We meaning the players have to live in the moment to korea and this has been a big part of. It can't live into worrying about three hundred million dollars in february here january. He can't live in. And we fans this all. I care i don't give one. I could care less about free agency right. I honest i could care less. I know it lingers. What if we all start to linger on that we forget the job at hand and it's the double-whammy you lose lose a season. If i'm gonna lose somebody. Guess what i want to lose him to mc another ring on the finger right right sure you damn right to win ring again this year you had to. You just have to and then hey listen. There's little hope a little luck. A lot of skill that goes into this stuff and how to maneuver and manipulated. It's going to be tough. But i can tell you this. I think this was for for team. Needs now shares her to the dodgers better players. I'm sure but for team needs. And what the astros had to have grave was is important to the astros situation as measures to the dodgers correct. Sportstalk seven ninety. Come right.

"How do you judge that as a rental to you for a guy who can win your world series more important than my younger bodies that can be around longer than you may not get now. You may get one in three years. I tend to lean towards. Gimme that guy. now i i do. And we'll see if he's in play. There was eight teams listed. The boston's the you know. The dodgers the astros and In a host of other teams mentioned in baxter's which list was he has to approve. It really realistically probably cut down to seven. Because there was note in there that the yankees had checked in but he's basically told people that he's not going to accept a deal to new york. It's hard to imagine. You accept a deal to the mets as well. I i really think it's gonna the competition for him is going to strictly come down to the three teams in the west coast. Giants the dodgers the padres in the astros. It's to me. It's those four teams. That probably played him at the highest level. I theorized on one guy yesterday on our podcast in terms of starting pitching. I know that this is an you know we would all love the pie in the sky. The max scherzer deal to happen. It's going to be difficult to pull off. There's a tea or anybody. Yeah there's a there's a there's a team kind of hovering. I think they should sell off some stuff. I would be calling. I would be calling atlanta about. Charlie morton i would recall him atlanta left and right. They should look to move him. He's on a one year deal..

"He was out there in literal time for over five minutes before you went to the locker room see so if they see if it's so win win at what point time do you as a human being or in baseball or in life realize okay man. I thought this was. I thought this was true. And i wanted to hate the astros and i wanted it to be true because i want to validate the fact that they win cleanly we understand the trash can't think that's okay i just don't the buzzer thing and i when it came out. I'm like is this true. And so i'm looking. I think we all were right. I just it makes no sense and wendy. You get over it when when there's no there's nothing to back it up with wendy you get over. Stay on the trash cans for as long as you want. If that's what's gonna use is gonna is gonna make you happy. I could care less than apparently neither can the astros but you know when when broadcast teams are state and stuff. That's just snide and remarks..

"I agree because getting to that pinnacle of professional sports is so hard to do. And we've had our fair share of disappointment in the city for sure But for the rocket happy with just getting there one in any sport But i think because of all of the controversy surrounding how the astros won their championship and whether they cheated they didn't cheat whether they you know. used that system to gain a competitive advantage when they shouldn't have whatever i just think there's a cloud around the championship and it would sure be nice to get another one so that we could just hopefully put all that to rest and say you know what they didn't they didn't need to do it. I still don't know why they.

"But there really hasn't been. I've i've been hardened by that that people find it to be very fair telling Including a lot of news lot of things. They didn't know of this really historic moment in baseball. And this historic scandal. What i really wanted to do is shine sunlight on a lot of things that remained in the darkness. I felt even you know year after the story initially broke. And it's good to know that he those efforts can still be rewarded in our world and finally do you think this goes away when fans are back in the stands and alto korea bregman get in the box the think fans forget. I don't. I saw it in spring training. I was doing the games. They were getting booed. People were smashing the back of the seats during spring training games. I don't think it goes away. What do you think. I don't think so either. A lot of people are saying. Oh they got a break right like if there's any any group of people in the world who could find some silver lining whatsoever in this horrible pandemic year. It's a human aspect of the houston astros because they did not have to face the music as far as opposing fans. I think they're only delaying it right. I think these guys have become the villains of baseball as dave tremblay's says in my podcast. These guys are going to have to live with this for the rest of their lives. And i think they will in some respect. I don't think anybody's ever gonna look back once such a great team. Such an inspiring story even underdog. Kind come on top. Nobody's ever gonna look back at this story the same way and no matter what they do for the rest of their careers. This has always been with these guys. It is absolutely awesome. "Why the Astros did what they did how the Astros did what they did how does it affect how often does sign stealing happen and a whole bunch more she don't want to hear that coming up in about ten minutes from now we'll take your telephone calls were talking about this a lot in it the phones is blow up with it Astros why are they persona non grata the worst human beings on the face of the planet yet in the National Football League the New England Patriots basically did the same thing they were very illegally videotaping other teams trying to figure out their science they were cheap so why isn't the Astros people want to ban them for the postseason the older players out forever the the the outrage for the Astros is much higher than it ever was for the New England Patriots I didn't I brought this up you can have guys will get suspended the Major League Baseball for PT's LA are branded for the rest of their lives as cheaters happens in the National Football League and its like who is great he's always fantasy football team let's go there's a completely double standard and it's not fair somebody asked why I think it's because baseball players are more relatable because they're more the size you of you and me as opposed to big hulking guys with helmets and shoulder pads they look like the average guy for the most part walking on the street outside for Mike trout it could probably be a wind back of the National Football League eight five five two one two four two two seven the number for you to join us is takes of telephone calls all I want to start with rob from Charlotte thank you so much for holding your on CBS sports radio good morning good morning you know it she's not cheating to get call or someone tells on it's like NASCAR arrive but it's not cheating unless they feel that the post race inspection exactly exactly but it's the the thing that you have to look at it is it in with a mortar Adam what's your question about baseball is more openness support you didn't have a sinister we could hit a curve ball but he if he if you can cheat to help you with this and this what mall isn't this is not so much from this you know bridge brutality and people can overcome that you may know what kind of player they are going to run but they're still you know how many times that my line up in a sale right we pretty much sure they're gonna run the ball no stopping and they said yeah they don't gonna run the ball but we're gonna run in a certain way but in baseball one eight it's one on one creature against the hitter the pictures always got is his cover and that's the difference in that but cheating is cheating nine eight N. N. they've got greedy to accept the patriots because of the part of it is is the NFL kept it under wraps you know they they become hidden he could get it down they don't want to sit down make a big deal out they didn't let that you didn't hear the other organizations like one the patriots cheated on ramp to cheat on the Panthers that you don't whoever you didn't hear those organizations or the the fans make international National Football League was not nearly as transparent as Major League Baseball event yes interesting point I think you go back to like you said cheating is cheating but it's the outrage that's led by the writers the talk show host the the Talking Heads on TV just seems like it's a lot sharper for one sport then it is another I give you example after example after example we do hold baseball to a higher standard expect more for those players we do for the National Football League our we're gonna go next day five five two one.

"This weekend the first chance for fans to really express to Astros players in that team how they feel about their cheating ways Astros range trading opener I guess the nationals on Saturday signs well were stolen from a different kind fans we're told that some of the fair some of the signs they brought into the shared ballpark got to give me a little bit of backstory here quickly the nationals and Astros share spring training complex the game was between the Astros and nationals on Saturday Houston was designated the home team but it's not like it's their stadium they support it they share at so some nationals fans some baseball fans went to the game with signs mocking and poking fun at the Astros a Houston Asterix sign was confiscated was taken looking at A. P. story a fan from Tampa brought a Houston Astros I am was told by ballpark personnel that the signs were forbidden if the Astros are gonna have this mentality if this is going to be V. organization wide policy that any kind of fan any kind of fan the action anything from a fan that expert any fan expression that shows their disdain or dislike for what the Astros have done if the team policy is anything like that that we deem to be mean spirited or mocking or directed it criticisms directed at us by fans are going to be censored are forbidden if that's what the answers are going to do they're only gonna bring I think more trouble more heat more fan hatred just own it any deal with that it allow fans for allow fans to get it out of their system allow fans to give you a piece of their mind and eventually it's not going to happen overnight but eventually it's going to go away yeah your players are going to be maybe uncomfortable because there aren't gonna be any quote unquote friendly confines they're gonna play a lot of games where fans are more interested in blowing them than cheering for their own team except that deal with that yeah the Astros have no right they have relinquish the right to feel sensitive to feel like they're getting bullied or picked on so that's the first thing I would do if I was in charge of PR for the Astros I would bring in the security people the archers the people who work at this spring training site and I would tell them Hey unless you have what you deem to be an ugly incident brewing where you think fan violence is on the verge of happening let it go let it be and I don't like how the Astros I think I think the Astros they're so passive aggressive about this I think internally I think inside the Astros organization they believe that they're being picked on that baseball has decided that right now they're like the the the sports devil but they're the bad guys in reality I think the Astros organization believes that this was a baseball wide scandal if there were a bunch of other teams that might not have been stealing sides the same exact way but we're doing something very similar in those teams are getting punished and I think that's why the Astros I think that's why Houston has a complex right now I think that's why they're bigger they're angry that very getting the brunt of the blame that they're the team now that is getting ostracized in getting treated like pariahs yeah I think I think the Astros look at themselves like probably a lot of steroid users look at themselves yep I did it I cheated I'll admit it but it wasn't only me it was all over the place yeah somebody brings a sign to a game that has like explicit vulgar content in it I get that all right see but I Houston Asterix sign and you get an ultimatum either cough up the side or leave come on what fans have what fans have their catharsis let them have their opportunity to let these players know how much they believe they damaged or hurt the game in the more yeah it's it's it's human nature the more you try to take something away from someone the more they're going to want to do it so the fact that this story even gets out there today I think is another case another chapter in the Astros bundling this scandal they don't even know how to accept the punishment how to own the punishment how to limit the damage the sooner this thing dies down the better but this is in this is it like a smoke alarm going off in your kitchen because yeah you forgot you were boiling water are you forgot you had something on the stove this is a forest fire it's gonna take time but you you have to take the proper steps to put it out in the Astros are doing the exact opposite and I think they are they are I don't believe they are deliberately I don't think this is a game they're playing where Houston thinks at this point we might as well just lean into it and because it becomes hated in vilified as humanly possible and it will really take on the us against the world nobody likes us that's fine mentality we're fight would be in the villains were fired with being kind of the the team that everybody loves to hate I actually think that they believe and it's it's mind boggling but I actually believe the Astros in their organization think that they're justified or they're justified or they are accurate in it the way they handle this it's only when they're met with just an avalanche of criticism for their damage control did they realize they've screwed up that I think this is yeah this should have been nothing a few fans what there's maybe three thousand fans at a minor league game I mean the minor league spring it might as well be mine early get a spring training game what three thousand four thousand tops so five people bring signs okay so you go to a place yeah the Yankees come to town they bring fans and the fans want to mock the Astros in minute maid park deal with it let him do it yeah I thought the other the patriots were kind of persona non grata in America because of Spygate in because of other things that have come out and happened with them and there's always gonna be cynicism and skepticism over the authenticity or validity of their super bowls this is worse Houston doesn't have yeah the patriots had Spygate and then they went out and won three more championships the Astros don't have that right now they look like total frauds they look like babies they look like they're sensitive I think it's making them the most reviled most hated franchise in sports so that's the latest chapter in this saga in the scandal now signs are being stolen again by Houston this time they're made out of paper at Astros spring training games Houston Asterix signs being confiscated fans being frightened if you don't give those signs up if you don't turn the men we're gonna kick you out how do you feel about the Astros how do you feel about the Astros you feel sorry for him do you think the criticism has gone too far you think they deserve every bit of ridicule they're getting do you think that the Astros got off easy and deserve more criticism in should have to deal with the burden in even more outrage what is your reaction to this story that now fans were heckling the Astros at spring training games or getting in trouble what does that tell you what does that say about the team itself eight five five two one two for CBS it's eight five five two one two four two two seven want to get America's take on this the latest with Houston now they're so sensitive that if you exercise your opinion your right to tell the team how you feel about them in a game I guess you're susceptible or you open yourself up to being thrown out of the game eight five five two one two four two two seven eight five five two one two four two two seven get your take your calls next is the Pony Express CBS sports radio.

"Astros down to the bottom half of the I did not I did not alter that audio in any way that's what it was like but and by the way the Houston Astros owned it the white Sox that well I know they did in eighteen I think he didn't seventy but I'm not sure they really needed to be stealing signs at that point maybe they did against the Dodgers here is that column in the of the Los Angeles Times this morning by bill Klasky is an award winning columnist for the LA times so here's how he starts this column for three years we've wondered and now we know how did the Houston Astros hitters so easily pound three of the Dodgers hottest pictures into key games in Houston in the twenty seventeen World Series how did they so easily wreck you Darvish for four runs in the second inning of the game three Astros victory how did they so effortlessly score ten runs against Clayton Kershaw and Brandon Morrow in the game five victory they cheated that's how they use technology their hitters knew what pitches were coming they accumulated eighteen runs with twenty six hits and six home runs in two series changing victories that have now indelibly been stamped with an asterisk on an event forever marred by a sickening truth the Dodgers were cheated out of the twenty seventeen World Series championship this is not sour grapes he writes it's not revisionist history it's fact days got appointed argument at I mean you know I don't remember all of those details but all that if it was happening to the cubs or white Sox legal man we sure we mailed it in for the World Series wait a minute what by the way the Houston Astros swept the white Sox twenty eight it twenty seventeen year they won the World Series it was the white Sox won the season series four games to in eighteen that that's the year that the Astros swept the socks seven all seven games I'm still upset about the little league team from the south side losing their World Series championship the Little League World Series Hubbard trying just to get on my case about that that I thought that we did not need to know that I I literally wanted that truth swept under the rug is not an awful way to feel about this but it was such a great moment for us the rally at Grant Park and did the the white Sox embracing that team and the mayor was there and it was just such a great thing and the kids didn't do anything wrong and and I can go on like this for a while but I don't think that they had any extraordinary advantage but they stripped them it's more complicated with the pros glad you wanted to say what you're on WGN how are you going good morning it's a great job my comment is similar to what you were just saying I did something a double standard the little league kids lost their World Series title but the professional don't third World Series title that's just so we're telling our children it's bad to cheat in Joe you're an adult thanks all those millions on the line well put amount of time glad to refer to to call thanks for listening we.

"The Astros for and the Indians three of the middle game of this three game set with Houston waiting to do nothing last night on the strength of a great performance by Justin for letterman Robinson Chirinos over Oscar marcato leech off the bottom of the third for Cleveland election to strike from Jose for TV until the beginning of this year was known as Jose Hernandez your one Kirkwall Mrs well here driven to deep left field and it's off the base of the wall on the fly Murtada one is wait a second the throat was cut and he's in there in a medically slide with a double it was through the little bit in a minute realize Michael Brantley knows that left field wall really well I better turn it on and he put another year xcelerated quickly one speaker watch as one team scores the other team yeah and they they try to answer back Richard Hozier TV was known as Jose Fernandez key is his mother's last name and we are told that his parents had split and then his mom basically said I would like to see my name on the back of your Jersey so we changed it from Hernandez to Keating is Carlos Santana steps in and takes outside wall on four three Astros Santana flyable center was first time out shift on with three on the right side the Astros parade just a step or two to the right of second base well on the way and Santana takes just out of the way now it's Keating showing some body language and some some signs of disclosure that he didn't get the call then again most of the pitches not all of them but most of the ones that have been called polls have appeared to have been off the plate outside I think sometimes pitchers get used to getting an extra inch or two off the outside part of the claim which you all and swing the ball popped up Santana had one up in the zone but he gets under it and pops it up for glory all the first baseman and found territory one down yeah I would say I mean it seemed like the first inning plus that's where we were seeing some pretty good fast balls they were right they're not called since then if it's a single speed better if you look at the replays to be there both these pictures are featuring some topics to see an action so we it's got some late movement and it's moving out of his own at the end there's Jason Kipnis the second baseman hit a fly ball to right field his first time out July thirty first trade deadline day which is downloadable wanted to sing you mentioned earlier there's no second deadline this year for the first time now was it if you didn't get a guy in your organization now you can't have motor playoff roster other than like a straight away for you can't make a raid to get somebody the Indians were getting accident I three games back of Minnesota the service of reading nothing all of our lives by the fourth down in Miami Minnesota acquired Sergio Romo a couple of days ago and added to its goal pain today skip mistakes inside we picked up Sam Dyson from San Francisco twenty try to do something to help out the so you get a couple of veteran arms especially Robles save last she would not I would second one down for three Houston about a three hello you may not have that lights out closer but if you have some gap the guys that have some experience the this year the responsibilities in so you can get it done that way swung on Oct dot back into play third base side back for look history knows what is out of the way Washington added to which pulled today's well everybody knows everybody recalls supporters of the nationals about all kinds of trouble in the pool they picked up three relievers today picks up on to strictly from Seattle awareness leaders as well and then they picked up earlier actually they picked up Daniel Hudson from Toronto interesting is strictly to the earliest deals were separate two separate deals between the same three teams to two one and his swing into groundwater second back into the file to the set to speak fires the first to get get news to down is Ricardo comes to third you know it's interesting the hunter Strickland our national you members got me years ago Bryce Harper in San Francisco they had a big role yeah everything's connected yeah the two big group that's a small fraternity Tampa Bay picked up pace to sign you are from Milwaukee today two down and run over third for Jose Ramirez this a fly ball to center field a really nice diving catch in right center with fact made by George Strait the pitch from Ricky is outside wall on if I said you pick one thing that happened or didn't happen a surprise to the Welsh will be absolutely near gate is not I can move that's the biggest surprise for me he is getting a visit did you go to a restaurant is on his way to the this is the time to take a visit maybe by a little bit of time all of the queue is now getting up a little do you like the fact that there's one just one trade deadline what do you think we have to I don't feel it out for a few years see how it impacts the sport yeah I mean just from sort of the fan perspective I still like the August thirty first you know that in a grace period to be able to try to get a player through you know through waivers make a trade all that kind of stuff I I like how that urgency that's there then what happened just in Berlin couple years ago was incredible one always found.
