"Addition to my professional experience, Where do you think you're conservative viewpoints come from I was. I was always a conservative. I think it's funny. My mom when I first ran for this office pulled out a paper that I'd written for one of my high school composition classes, and it was about Welfare to work fair. And so I think, you know, I look back at how I was brought up value of hard work really understanding the value of a dollar and I didn't ever want for anything. But I also had to work for everything. And I think that was you know it. Still that being a very young age and Bond. That's what I've tried to carry through in my entire life. But, yeah, I've been a conservative my whole life and I try to work hard to make sure that I just run an effective life and hopefully help our government to be more effective and efficient, too. And you just said your many driving, mom. And of course, that letter was her mom. So how do you plan to balance that once you get to D. C and you have a nine and seven year old? Where do you think that's going to be like for you? Well, First of all, face time is a wonderful thing, and I'm able to, you know, just pick up the phone and call them and they have many times done the same thing to me when they need me to fix something even from afar. So technology has been a great gift tol telecommuting parents, I guess I would say, um, but you know, we haven't had a great system in place. We've got great family. My husband is a fantastic dad and I wouldn't be able to do this without his support and help back home because he's back home Manning home school right now, while I'm out here, training to be a new member of Congress, So, um, you know, we have a great system in place, and they love school. They love their friends. I love that We have our life in Iowa. And so we're gonna We're gonna make it work. And it's the right move for our family right now, and if we need to make changes, then we'll figure it out. Along the way. How do your boys feel about you now becoming a member of Congress? Oh, they're excited. Yesterday I was I had to go do my official signature for our boats and on the way into the building before they started home school. I facetime them from outside the capital. And I think they think it's pretty cool to be able to say to their friends and their teachers hate my mom's going to be a member of Congress, so definitely You need experience for them to have a true front row seat to our country's history. In November, you tested positive for covert 19 do. How does how has that impacted you? And how do you think that will impact you on your work? Once you get torun tonight? Well, I think number one. It's perspective. I understand what it's like to have experienced the virus have experienced a quarantine process, not just for me but for my family as well. That was the second time actually, through this elastic. Months that I had to quarantine I was directly exposed to someone who had called it in August. So I understand what challenges this pandemic presents to a family because I've lived it. And so, so that's the perspective that I bring to the table. So when I'm advocating for people, I want to make sure that we're being safe. Reppert. Our health care system has what it needs. I was lucky I didn't have a severe case. But I have friends who died from Corona virus. So I have that perspective, too. And I understand how serious second representative elect Ashley Hansen, thank you so much for your time, and we look forward to Your work during the 117th Congress starting that somebody? Thank you. Thank you. Scott Fitzgerald owned the local newspaper in Wisconsin before entering politics in 1995. When he was first elected to the state Senate. There, he rose to become the top Republican in the chamber, including for the last seven years as majority leader. Now he represents Wisconsin's fifth congressional District. Following Jim Sensenbrenner Ah, fellow Republican who held the seat for 42 years. Where did you grow up in Wisconsin, all right, outside of Milwaukee and a couple of rural counties, Dad's Jefferson County and that area. Um little town called Houston's Ford is where I went to elementary school and In the high school. Where did what as far as your those growing up experiences? What what was growing up in a small town like for you? I was wonderful. It was wonderful. One of the odd things I guess is that my father was both the chief of police and that small village and then also was the ended up being the sheriff in Dodge County, Wisconsin, which is kind of how I got my start in politics. So growing up is the son of a police officer to sheriff. That's that's always a unique experience. I can imagine that having that experience like you under under a lot of scrutiny as a child. I guess you could say that. Yeah, I guess you could say that wasn't a hard experience to be a son of a law enforcement officer. No, no. You know, my my my book my early years of growing up in that small village and then later on going to a very small high school, it was Great experience. It was very good. Was there anything about your father's job that you took personally and things that helped you grow up and develop as an adult? Well, I You know, being the son of someone that's in law enforcement. I think anybody can attest is definitely unique Experience either, because you know, there are situations where you're concerned about about your dad. Kind of out of the street. And certainly you know, you kind of heaven's conversations about what's going on in the community or in the county. And it does give you kind of unique perspective. I think you as far as your dole years, part of that many of those years spent in journalism on two sides of it. You started working in newspapers talk about that experience. Yeah, I went Tiuna City, Wisconsin Ash cash. You've got a bachelor's degree in journalism and then went to work for a couple of smaller newspapers and then ended up owning a small company that had a number of periodicals. Weeklies in a lot of printing. So was very much engaged kind of in civil, both governments, local level and and watching county government as well. So Another opportunity that I think every unique perspective on government. I was going to say, What were those perspectives, particularly from the publishing side? I wrote a weekly column for a number of years, and obviously you're engaged kind of at the ground level. When you're trying Togut the pulse of what's going on. In some of the small community is that those newspapers covered and also, you know, kind of give you perspective on some of the elected officials at that level and how they handled themselves and how they made decisions and And how they worked cooperatively. So it was kind of a great training ground for somebody that was eventually gonna end up a zone elected official themselves and certainly involved in politics. The Wisconsin State Senate is where you spend a lot of that time. What did you do there? I was elected in 1994 to state Senate seat and I held that seat for 26 years until I just ran for the fifth congressional so I was very fortunate. Tonto been elected the majority leader off my caucus over the last 10 years and was the majority leader in the Wisconsin state Senate throughout that period of time, so and a lot of champagne and Wisconsin over the last 10 years, so once again gave me a very unique perspective on Not only kind of government at the state level, but I think as leader, you know, we went through a lot of changes, including reforms, like at 10, right toe work. We did a lot of a lot of changes in and around things that dovetailed into the federal government. So Once again. I like to think that it gives me a kind of ah depth of experience in things that I could use going out to D. C. What did you learn about leadership in the state Senate?.

Are we kind of dealt with stuff because if you look at the kind of of course you look at the mortality. Look at the people that are actually pausing away kobe. They're generally over the age of wolves. Sixty seventy years old right for the most part and we look down the entire world for like what less than two percent of the population or maybe let no less than maybe ten say maybe in the population of the world again. "Sitting here to do that's not saying anything learned from my sports cliche generator there yeah so I think I think at the root of this whole thing the problem is everybody involved in the Houston Astros organization including the fans culminate I think if they had to do it all over again they would do it exactly the same way that's the biggest problem let me get a wild got going further money the fans don't get money but I gotta just say in the fun of being a fan in the whole March through the postseason and staying up and watching the games and written yet we won yes really good time yeah we can't do this all the time once everybody's cheating then well then it's not fun it's not exciting that my team overcame the odds and beat the big why if it is the New York Yankees we cheated one of the time it was a really it was really fun and then for the players and the owners are ready made a tremendous amount of money Schori advertisers got all those eyeballs in Houston C. in the you know the the the ad for the jets Houston Ford shop there was probably an uptick in Houston's economy in the wake of the win which is crazy what are the chances someone will take a beating for this five what's going to be interesting this year is how the Astros are received across baseball because every team in the majors things at this point that there was some aspect of cheating involving their players so you have to wonder are guys gonna throw what other guys in the Astros are there going to be sort of brawls or anything like that related to the Astros I think a really compelling fe I it is my belief that the Astros will set a record for number of times being hit by a pitch this year yeah yeah well I tell you what if there if you're facing a pitcher you're in Houston uniform you're facing a pitcher you faced in the playoffs at any point the last several years prepare to get one between your shoulder blades what made it maybe the whole how you wanted they did put again Austin all we there ought to be a league wide agreement listen you play the Astros first nine guys who come to the plate yet drill him and then after that you get down to the game course you will have pushed six runs across many well because you're in the right the other night it's a good plan history smiles on the principal Joe all right the victory to the bowl got a two gallon what do the Astros beat the World Series I honestly can't remember view the N. seventeen M. just recently because I'm thinking when they play each other for the first time this year's me really interesting well the Dodge airs at who would give us the last three World Series matchups since I was a little kid as a U. sports fan I can never remember the stuff six months later I don't care I it's funny and I have friends who say all man the eighty two World Series or whatever all when Jones hit the home run in the fifth game that brought the brewers back to the like what I don't remember what I had for breakfast once you get the mental deficiency you have a very brave so the nationals beat the Astros yeah most recent one that it was red Sox Dodgers noise Astros over the Dodgers in twenty seventeen Astros Dodgers and that there was a huge deal the Los Angeles Dodgers who spent more than anybody's ever spent whatever three hundred million dollars on in American to win a World Series and they lost because of the team sheet is sure to spend twenty five Bucks on buzzer since how did they not sue them for a look we spend this much money to win a World Series and we didn't because you cheated yeah yeah I suspect that it's a little bit like Nixon not taking the whole Joe Kennedy buying Chicago thing to the wall and Ford pardoning Nixon it would be so bad for the game sure if that happened I think everybody saying listen we just got a lot of line move on with our lives see that's the thing that you're dead and it ruins it for if you're just gonna look at a fans in general all those Dodgers fans would have that fantastic memory not fantastic ride that they would have enjoyed as opposed to what a forty year drought or whatever it's been since love Dodgers of have triumphed I'm telling you bring back her charger first nine got his first nine guys step up to the plate you drill on send a message imagine my that seventh rates guy he's just going to walk out to the mound and say listen hello we just fight you can't fix the pitcher for the Dodgers Kershaw I think he's the one that suffered the worst under it was you know if you have lost girlfriends or just respect from people the way he looks at himself where she will look at all because the other team was cheating he wanted to come too early onset depression and whatever in his fifties and die young because of that as existing I can never get over I can never win the big one the only thing that ever mattered to me yeah my god number it'll this is sports but the whole point of sports is a it is it's in doubt who's going to win and and everybody has a chance in London on any given Sunday for football or whatever if people cheating all that goes out the window yeah I think by the way Kershaw's fine is only getting with some underwear model or something may be fine no loss of consortium that you're listening to the best of the Armstrong and Getty.

"Community you can volunteer as a lot of the a lot of places of shed jobs a lot of places have have started hiring too okay because what basically happened in our economy has shifted production to different places so I would actually argue the opposite you still do have a mission you always do as long as you're alive in this world you absolutely do it maybe that mission is small and it might seem meaningless to you at the time we promise you it is important you know you know we we we're we're understanding right now the importance of some of the most of of of some of the smallest jobs out there like how important it is for these are small jobs and that's the point how important it is for for for people to be and driving trucks across our country keeping our supply lines open to be stocking shelves you know our our culture should look down on these important job Wharton I love the nurses and doctors getting cheered just like I love when firefighters and cops who getting cheered by military personnel during nine eleven it afterwards and I love the fact that people in supermarket getting respect I also love the fact that post winter still delivering on a daily basis sanitation workers are still working through this so I love people getting some attention for doing what they're doing and maybe get some of that hazard pay there been discussing on both sides of the aisle but you also talk about what worries you about the next generation are being tested now you go to Harvard after military and you said you were amazed how few people I've ordered actually showed up on time to class the amazed how how they typed away when professors were talking on their laptops sending messages back and forth rather pay attention to the lecture and you're wondering what the basic politeness was and the efficiency was and it why does every but why should that be emblematic of what worries you for the country right and I talk about that in my book as as an indication of the small things do turn into big big things you know he complaining about people showing up on time to class and type in when the laptop that that that seems really menial things like the rumblings of a grumpy old man but this stuff matters you know details matter we learn this really early on in the military because a detailed cost lives we're we we have this monster in the seal teams of a attention to detail attention to detail we have a system for everything because as soon as you start letting the small things go well there's no reason to think that you would let the big things go either you become less and less detail oriented you start cutting corners and everything starts to fall apart Erica right now is waking up to that reality in in a really big way this is this is the first time in living memory we've had to collectively live to a large crisis that is ongoing it's different than what nine eleven was you know which is it which is a single event at the consequences but but this is something we're constantly dealing with in these details matter and Norma sway in an enormous way you know how to really you wash your hands actually matters out thoroughly you clean the the the handlebar on the shopping cart actually matter this I saw a headline here in Houston Ford said Hey stop dropping your latex gloves on the floor the grocery store workers don't want to pick that up that really matters at the small things left on the floor they could get somebody to pick that up for me that's good that's a terrible way to think deeply on American and it seems so small but it's not small anymore and this is a real wake up to that detail orientation can you talk about in detail with you and disappointed that comes in with how you grow from adverse conditions breaking your tibia the first time you're going to budge training there's nothing you can't do anything but you can't keep your bones together it's not a matter toughing it out you had you not hurt there's an injury and is being hurt and you had to go back and do the whole thing again you completed it I would argue you're a better person because of it now you burst into the national scene when you were mocked while running for office by Pete Davidson on SNL let's listen this guy was kind of cool Dan Crenshaw you may be surprised to hear he's a congressional candidate from Texas I'm not a man in a **** movie his eye and when war or whatever so the full out with that you get text the next day you know you have a patch of people don't know because you got you got to die hidden war and you lost that I almost lost you inside entirely but you your reaction was what yeah and I talk about that experience in in a chapter that I call the the right sense of shame and it's an important chapter because we've we've sort of disregarded this sense of shame in our society and we've we've kind of forgotten what it what it means even feel it we we we've we've become obsessed with this notion that our feelings are right that we live our own truth and that we want to feel shame for for for live in not my best self or whatever people say is true then we should feel that we should feel bad when we drop of latex gloves on the ground you know whoever did that I I hope went home and felt terrible about it and you have to you have to feel bad about the small things and so that that's that's a set up for that chapter I talk about that experience on SNL in that chapter because that was that was an example of everybody showing in just the right amount of shame okay so I didn't what I specifically did not do was unleashed the outrage mob on Pete Davidson that Saturday Night Live could reach out to me because it gave them the space they can reach out to me and actually apologize just show a proper sense of shame in the way that they wanted to okay and then we went on we made amends and it turned out really good what usually happens instead of somebody in my position would unleash the outrage mob right you know call for his firing call for his demise call for his cancellation all that and what what SNL done in response well probably nothing that would have done one of two things that would have either done nothing not apologize not feel bad nothing or apologize profusely like over the top of policies are so sorry hold on eight hundred million dollars to veterans whatever it is usually something over the top instead we got to find the middle ground and I think we found the right middle ground what happens too often is that our society pushes each other into one of those two corners extreme shame or notion when I point out in that chapter a lot of examples of politicians who just never bother to apologize like Ralph Northam perfect example never ever apologises for what is really gross history in in your book you know the black face a minimum of picture of somebody in a KKK mask never even bothered about it we have to question why that is and it's not you know I'm not excusing him by any means but the reality is is that people who do apologize these days they don't get any redemption the public doesn't reward them for it there's no understanding anymore so we have to be better as Americans about about allowing for some space for redemption Walter holding each other accountable I listened and what have you back just to talk about this book to again much fortitude a lot of people looking to fill their times fill their days while doing the thing that's supposed to shelter at home this is the book that will really inspire you you tell a lot of great stories for practical level create everything you do for the country continuing to serve in Congress Dan Crenshaw congratulations on the book I'll talk to you again.

Streaking with me. Like, I'd feel like you. You're going. This just feel like what think about this trending that out? You're out you're playing Pinehurst. You're having all of a sudden cart comes up next to you. That has a full array of cocktails. It's ready. That's been made freshly for you that would be you. That's what I'm saying. I'm pitching that. Yeah. Then you're going straight card. Listen card if you can drive the drink car in your allowed to do that and bring drinks are on you are going on this trip. Can I wear like a traditional like the the little knickers and everything and like didn't push it? All right. So that's your pitch to try and come on coming up in a second. We'll tell you can pick your way into the window formerly leadership retreat. Now the wingo Cup before we do that. Let's get to some straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones. Best networks, no contracts. Surprising trade yesterday in the NFL and surprising just because is much as you hear the the moment of Frank Clark the defensive end for the Seahawks. We heard that he might be on the block it always feels. These deals are going to be more difficult to get done. And then all of a sudden we're sitting there yesterday and bam. It is done the Kansas City. Chiefs have made the trade with the Seahawks they've acquired Frank Frank Clark. And then they turned around they gave up a first round pick twenty nine overall. They're exchanging third round picks for next year and they're sending the lower of their to twenty twenty second round pick. So that's the full swamp. And then they turned around right right away inside him to a five year one hundred five point five million dollar deal with almost sixty four million dollars guarantees. So a big money deal. A big acquisition. Look work can going with a four three. And he's more that four three end. You know, you look at what they had in D four to thirteen sacks us here. Justin, houston. Those guys. Are you know in the fifties? You know now going to afford three you need the bigger type of defensive end. And that's where Frank Clark fits in. But it was very interesting with the issues Kansas City's head with Kareem hunt. Tyreek hill before he got the pros. And then as of late Frank Clark had those. Issues in colleges while at Michigan. So there's some people that kind of raise an eyebrow. Is why is Kansas City going down this road? Exactly. For anyone familiar when flank Frank Clark was at Michigan. There was an incident with his girlfriend at the time. A involving a pretty grisly sounding seen in the police report Clark. Ultimately reached a plea agreement and was convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The assault charge was dismissed without prejudice as part of the plea deal. And he was drafted second round of the two thousand fifteen NFL draft. And since then he got kicked off Michigan. He off Michigan's team for that. He also had a breaking in or. There was charging around stealing a laptop. Him being dismissed from the team now since he's entered the NFL he has not had any sort of dust up in that way. And so now for the chief, it becomes interesting because I get football wise, all the reason I make sense on the field. But for what you gave up as far as picks because for Seattle. This is great you at four pick up going into this draft. You get another year at the two thousand nineteen first rounder out of this. You get some other picks along the way. And we know they still gotta pay Bobby Wagner. So they have the room to do that now. But for Kansas City, you attached a lot of your future in a foundational element to a guy that has very much in the mold of two guys that won in Kareem hunt that burns you to the point where you decided to make him no longer part of your team and another entire kill that is not trending direction. Looks like he's to give you much in the way of football. And a lot of people said we'll tyreek did it in college. And he's been nothing happened in the pros. Well, something did happen. Because a lot of people say will Frank Clark's was in the college and nothing has happened in the pros. But we did see what hap- tyreek hill and to that point one of our best ESPN NFL nation reporters for the chiefs. Adam Tisha, Adam was surprised by this move. Because of that check out what he had to say. I thought all along here is the Frank Clark. Rumors had been sort of building the last week or two that the chiefs couldn't afford to be in that game this game for that very reason that between the cream hunt situation. And now the latest tyreek hill situation. I just didn't feel like the chiefs could afford to go there. Well, obviously the chiefs disagree with me L. I'm having a hard time understanding that part of it certainly chiefs of not been afraid to to to take players who've had some issues in their past and in the Clark fits right in that. So I thought the chiefs were sort of moving in a direction where they're getting away from that. But this obviously says that they're not. So I just I'm having a lot of trouble myself digesting that part of it that is straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless, nationwide coverage on America's largest and most dependable four G LT network. I don't know where this one's going to go. I mean, I I really I mean. Again from the football side. We get it you get it. But from what can he's been through. Was it worth that? Now, they did have the rushers in Houston defor. But we said with the with the change in scheme is definitely different for the type of player they need. Exactly. You just wonder again when you've got you've got Patrick moms there, you've got a generational type quarterback who we know we've been through kind of the myth that paying a quarterback puts you out of contention doesn't give you the ability. If it's a myth. It doesn't hold up when you look at the landscape of the NFL, but you do have Mahomes on a rookie deal. You're gonna have to pay him. A lot of money is it worth investing foundational element in a guy that fits the mold of two guys that most recently have burned you as far as taking a second chance on a guy where they've passed one thing to note is the chiefs at this point cleared out three of their best players for last year on defense. Eric berry Justin Houston Ford. Now they've signed or traded for five new starters, most notably this one and then also Terai Matthew. So there's a lot. Lot of new on that defense coming up your chance to win with Pinehurst. And it's blind resume time drafting quarterbacks without knowing who they are. We'll do that next wingo. ESPN radio ESPN. We all know goodwill. But did you.

"Now remember inside now inside two weeks opening day open day two weeks from today. Two weeks from today. Fourteen days and counting for opening day. Tomorrow, we'll go over any teams, you think might be on the bubble as we selection Sunday away on Saint Patrick's Day on Sunday. You will be getting ready to put your bracket in because you will get that Sunday night. You will get its selection Sunday on the seventeenth tournament will begin on Tuesday. So you gotta get your bracket and everywhere on Monday will obviously do brackets, and coaches and everything else and all the football and everything else going on and the golf on the players on the weekend you have this tournament. So you made it through that time of year where there's just nothing going on. Now, all of a sudden it cranks up. It cranks up in a big way. And you know, what before you know, it? It's fifty five to sixty eight outside and the days longer and the baseball's right around the corner and the masters right around the corner and the play offs in hockey and basketball, right around the corner and springtime and then summertime right around the corner. Made it through the long cold winter. Yeah. Six days of Windsor left. Spring comes on the twentieth was obviously some of you may remember as my birthday. First day of spring JP in Bergen county. What's up? Mike how you doing? Beckham not being a championship or playoff game receiver. You mentioned all worth and bullet macropod, there's another guy. I said they didn't drop didn't say that. I didn't mention them as champions. I said they didn't drop pets. There's not a guy who didn't try passes in the playoffs was fourteen to five in the playoffs and have three Super Bowl ring. His name's click branching never gets mad. But, you know, listen, this this this is your this is your pet thing about cliff ranch. I mean, listen credentials are good receiver. But there's a million good receivers. Yeah. He played on a team. But he also played on a team with how many hall of famers were on that team that team also had the best left side of a line or any team that ever lived. Okay. So I mean, so there's a lot and had great quarterbacks and great coaching and had a million different guys. And you might clip branches heck of a player, but it's hard to get in the hall of fame. Really is. I know that's your guy, but it's just hard to get in the hall of fame. Mike in Stony Brook. What's up, Mike? Techinicall? What's up? Things on the jets in an ideal situation. What would happen with them on the number three pick? Whether it's a trade accurate or which Claire. You the best for them to get. I think they have to be happy with both Allen. I think they would love to get pole side. Just don't think it's possible. I noticed that old subject. I wasn't able to get through to you the ending of the controversy of the chapter game with the saints and the Rams and the call for the expansion of an expansion of instant replay. Correct. That would mean that read expanded to non calls 'cause there was no penalty called on that way. And you could you can find a penalty on almost all it. There's different ways to handle that the most the easiest way to handle this without uprooting the entire system because what you're saying is true at it's been part of the problem with them finding a solution is they're saying now, wait a second. You're asking us to correct the play on which there was nothing called. So that means you are opening every play up. Scrutiny because any call you wanna now at a possibility that I am challenge. Either a call on any play the way to get around that is. In in the fourth quarter, or and you can you can start by just dealing with playoff games in the fourth quarter of playoff games or in the if you want to shorten it. The last five minutes, you might as well go fourth quarter of playoff games. They you have the ability if. New York or if whoever is in charge. Deems that there is a horrific officiating mistake made they have the right to review that play and make that play. Correct. If it is such an egregious error that they need to interfere. They have the right to do it. So that would cover that kind the play. It would only be used in extreme circumstances. But that was an extreme circumstance. Where obviously they knew they were looking at something that was going to follow them for weeks and months. Okay. So I mean, that's one way that's one. But what you are saying Mike is is the hold up the holdup is they're saying, how do we fix this? How do we how do we fix this situation? This is a play where there was nothing called. So how do we fix it? And they're point is, well, then we have to have what Pereira wants, which is the sky judge where the sky judge has a right to veto any play. That's still not perfect. But it's. It takes away the agreed era. Yes. It does. That the outcome. Well here here you have a game with wrong team, basically asked people in their city not to watch the Super Bowl as a protest. That's how upset they were. So think about how outrageous. They were in their protests. So you can make a case for that knowing that one definitely they, you know, listen, they feel they were cheated. Let's be honest. They feel they were cheated. If you talk to them, they feel it which either. They feel they should have won the game that they missed the call that was flagrant and anybody who watches that play. How could you mean? I mean, they don't let you do it. But you would love to sit down on a pre game show run that plane slow motion and say to the officials who were at the game and were responsible for the call. Tell me how you looked at this play and said there wasn't a penalty. You have a guy who then admitted on Monday. To his credit? I got caught inside. And I just tried to do anything I could to stop. What was a walk in touchdown. So I- clobbered him. He admitted it. Did he hit a hole in one? The stick? It went in. On the seventeenth. Who did that? Stick and went in. Was that live was tape sometime earlier today? I know what it was from. Somebody sticking winning on seventeen. Wow. Oh, maybe that's not from this year. I don't know they show on something. The shown a bunch of highlights today, though, this just sort of just went and hall. That might not have been from today. They might be just showing a bunch of shots. But it like it was today. I mean shot hit the stick and at home. Fill in the Bronx. What's up, Phil? Hey, what's going on? My question a question, and then possibly a point if you will allow I haven't heard much about the connected connection with cutlass quarterback coach that, you know, about an can eat connection with the Manning's and their sway so possibility apparently everybody's going on this page senior bowl game that he had. But he's you know, he's looking check second year allegedly of quarterbacks would be very cost effective positive for the giants. They use that high to possibly get up into the bottom of one to get him. What about Hanwha is it not being brought up or somebody else that may not like Because. because? In the right way. G I have no information though, fill the that the that the giants like Daniel Jones. I have no information that they do. Now, we don't. But we haven't heard a lot of people a lot of people have done. What you just did? They connect the fact that he is called cliff guy. He has been compared to ally. Manning in terms of his toughness intelligence without being a phenomenal athlete. So he's been compared to the good points of Eli manning compared to that. He does come from the manning school because he's a guy. That has made people. If you go spend any time on anything on Daniel Jones. There will be speculation that the giants will swoop in and take him because what you just said because of the because of the fact that he is in the Matt and campe's cut cliff guide the whole thing. All right. I have no information that that's true. He didn't play great at the senior bowl. He didn't play. He played great in bowl game. As a matter of fact. He went crazy in the ball game against temple. He went crazy. Okay. Like nine hundred touchdowns. I mean, he went just nuts. Okay. He's got size. He's not fast, but he's considered to be much tougher and a much better quarterback than his. Triangle numbers appear he's not a physical specimen, but he's a quarterback. And then what about the possibility of him learning undermanned well in the correct way again. Provided they like him, obviously. Yeah. And you're saying is providing Eli puts his stamp on them. You would think you would think hope so I mean, you can't underestimate the sway of the manning family. Well, I. How they feel about all this has become a very there's this whole thing has become a very very. Tough finish. Obviously. I mean, the whole thing has gotten it has an obviously played out the way anybody wanted to for a guy who had a unbelievable story career. It hasn't ended up the, you know, from the from the time from the mcadoo thing forward. It's been a mess. Let's be honest. None of his works out. Right. So we'll find out what the last chapter is. We don't know. Maybe it's going to be something that's gonna be fun. Maybe they'll surprise have a decent season right off into the sunset under a good year. Who knows? Will that happen? I have no idea. I don't even though he's going to be the quarterback yet. I mean, I I'm understanding that he's going to be on the team for everything understand. But what their plan is? Are they bringing a quarterback in? They've mentioned this Kansas City model, which makes no sense to me. Hey, I don't even know what the model is except if you're talking about having someone learn the system, which is what they Andy Reid. Adam do learn the system for you. Number one. It's it's Andy Reid system. He wanted the kids to learn at the mature the team is loaded with talent. The team was loaded with talent when he got there and the kids are very talented kid at all. Oh had up. The giants. Could find on the homes as the first step? I mean, that's the I mean the giants won eight games less two years. The chiefs in one twenty two in the two years before. Moms took over. Tell you the chiefs have really redone their defense. You know, they've really guys go. They've said goodbye to a lot of guys they had obviously financial issues cap issues. They've said goodbye to the guys they've changed the defense. They franchise for the traded him. So. Interesting though, Houston Ford, though, very very downs last year on ironically, berry got caught. Got caught covering. Gronkowski wrong spot. He really did not as his fault. I mean who covers gronkowski, right? But he wound up having been missing almost any. So it was a great player in his Brian, but he's gone through cancer. He's gone through the the. Kelly's problems the he'll problems is all kinds of shoes. So the chiefs chiefs a close though. And Honey badger went there. He said the win a ring. Tiger putting right now on the. Iconic seventeenth east to the par and putting for birdies. So good day for Mr. woods. Gotta make pot here of about..

"To go from the to Alan motions left to right. That'll be versus direct can Grady under center against the Birkat runs left. For Super Bowl fifty. Big time media availibility ability today with the patriots. I don't know how many the patriots and the Rams have done so far. But what did you learn Bob? I learned that Joe Tony in his third straight Super Bowl. Of course about to become the first player to start the Super Bowl each of his first three seasons is very fluent in Spanish because in the midst of all the questions that were coming at from both sides from New England reporters and national reporters. Hey, got a flurry of questions from internationals showed off his dexterity in languages, not only fluent in English. But outstanding very bright guy fluent in Spanish as well. That's cool. And how crazy was the Tom Brady circus in his ninth Super Bowl. Well, it was too crazy for me to even get close to Davy. We were talking off air when I showed up at the hotel where the availability was being held. There were cameras tripods set up a good two hours beforehand. Same with the last night. Of course, everybody had their cameras ready to go their microphones perched waiting for Jared Goff. Tom brady. Podium on opening night. And the same story today. It'll be the same when they meet with press again tomorrow that voice, you know, is Bob soci- play by play for the patriots radio network. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on radio row and CBS sports radio. This was a really impressive coaching job by Bill Belichick, and it sounds funny to say right because when is he not impressive, but this team had a transformation? So you saw them weakened weak out in what areas did you see the most growth a major grows to the point at which they are now in another Super Bowl. Yeah. It's a great question because in pockets of the season you saw some growth here in some growth there. I think the defense for example, there was steady improvement for them with an occasional hiccup. They gave up a lot of yards in Miami got gashed on the ground in that game. Give up a lot of points in the first half. And then of course, they have the breakdown of the final seven seconds to lose that game. But then the following week, although they were gashed in the run game by Pittsburgh terrific job on Smith, Schuster and Antonio Brown and held the Steelers. To seventeen points. They come away from that game with a loss. But unless you see the defense trending in the right direction offense without Julian autumn of the first four games of the season and really limited in terms of their weapons before they really developed a running game. They were hamstrung in the first quarter of the season. They started to hit their stride around the midpoint of the season. And then they regressed again held a ten points in that Pittsburgh game. And then all of a sudden in week sixteen and seventeen you saw them become dominant. Wanting the football against the bills week seventeen. We saw better movement from Brady and adamant in gronkowski signs of them. Recapturing what we became accustomed to throughout their careers up until the inefficiencies and inconsistencies this year. And then to the playoffs they've all come together. So I think it's really been over. The course of the last two to four games where we have seen this team really start that climb. Ascending the way usually see patriots teams do month-to-month. Usually patriots teams are a lot better. Not tober. In September a lot better November. But this team they got better in some ways. And then they regressed in other ways it was an interesting season. And I think that's why so many people raise doubts and legitimate questions about whether this team could get to this point a lot of things that are impressive about the AFC championship. And even going back to the chargers game, which was dominant of course, scoring on their first four possessions. Be amazing. But the thing that I cannot get over from the AFC championship. Is that Tom Brady got hit? Once no sacks. But only one official quarterback hit and you mentioned the run game. But that's also part of the old line in that atmosphere where it's so unbelievably loud, it's chaotic that whole line played almost perfectly. They really did. I mean, the word that I've used his nearly impeccable. These first two playoff games, you consider Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa with the chargers, and then you go against Houston Ford and Jones across the front for Kansas City. And he's you touched on in that environment. And you think back to two thousand and sixteen January sixteen with the patriots had to go to Denver play the Broncos on the AFC championship. And then offensive line was overwhelming problems with the snap count. The Broncos von Miller and company. Stab count the crowd, of course, at their favor and Brady was under pressure from the get-go and never really recovered though. The patriots still somehow some way came within a two point conversion of tying it in the final seconds. If Kansas City at different story, the offense fired off the ball the run game and the offensive line was able to protect Brady throughout. So I can't say enough about them. They're getting their do it seems this postseason. They have their work cut out for them as we know on Sunday because they're probably going up against the biggest challenge. They have faced to date considering what LA has inside the edges. The edges open air press box in Kansas City, were you able to hear it or or is that not how you do it? We typically do in regardless of where we are. When recalling a game, we prefer the windows open. However, Kansas City is one of two stadiums. In the NFL for my experience the windows now do not open Miami renovated. It's press box. And they put us on the corner of the end zone and the windows. Don't open. It is really strange. It's like calling a game on TV living. Yes, exactly. In Kansas City's Arrowhead stadium is phenomenal Wade atmosphere. They've done a beautiful job of the renovations are preserving the history. That franchise. It's great hall of fame. If you're someone appreciates football history to take a tour of that facility. It's outstanding. But one pet peeve has been you go there to call a game and the windows don't open, but I have to say that this last time we were a little more forgiving considering how cold it was in Kansas City. We're your glasses water bottle shaking because that's what I heard from a lot of people on on media in press row. Media availability. It's a lot like an SEC atmosphere or great college atmosphere, Clemson being in death valley before having experienced that and talking to some of the players, they likened it to what they faced in the southeastern conference going to Auburn, go to Georgia, etc. But it's it's also cool too. Because a lot of stadiums. Go to there are pockets of the other teams fans the visitors fans, especially with the patriots to places you don't generally see that door, Pittsburgh indefinitely Kansas City, and that crowd was clad in red route out there early. I heard about five AM people started showing up to tailgate, and I know it wasn't wasn't the Arctic blast fantastic. But it was still freezing. I don't know how they did it. And obviously it was a disappointing end for them. But they'll have franchises in a good place with obviously a transcendent young quarterback. Patriots play by play voice. Bob see here with us on radio after hours CBS sports radio when I do play by play. My brain is processing first, and then it comes out your mouth. Yes. That's the kind of the one thing when d- Ford's gets called for the offsides penalty. But you see the interception. You call the interception first. And then you realize there's a flag what's going on in your brain. That's playing out because that literally could have been the game preserver for the cheap. All you think the game is over. No question about it. Especially on top of what had just happened with Jillian Ataman had a Pasco through his hands. That was intercepted enabling Kansas City to take the lead. And you know, there are two things about that play before ever seeing the flag was the apparent interception initially. But then when the ball caromed out of bounds wanting to make sure that it was complete and it was a pick. And so your eyes were really fixed is the play by play guy. Looking down. It's a very high perch Kansas City. So you're looking almost straight down at the near sideline to make sure that it is an interception, and your voice reflects the emotion in that moment. And then I looked up and across the way at the fifty yard line. Saw the flag my partners, Scott Zolak. And I think initially both felt that could be on the patriots. And when lake lakeland gave the signal, and then, of course, announced to the crowd that. Sides complete one offsides on any other snap. But the one in which there's an interception. That's tough. What's this been like for you? I'll just even as I asked the question sorry for play by play person myself that this is the kind of stuff you live for right? The championships the playoff games so for you. So is this your fifth seasons? This is my sixth. Okay. So it's a little bit off. But what does been like for you now three consecutive Super Bowls and just an incredible ride hard to put into words. And that's what I'm supposed to do. Right. But the experience really is as a player told me last night. It's indescribable to think of the good fortune that I have I seen some of my colleagues here play by play or terrific what they do and have been in the league a lot longer than I have. And they haven't had this opportunity that I'm going to enjoy try to appreciate as I should for the fourth time in five years. I'm just lucky enough number one to be hired for the job. Just calling games in the NFL as someone who gets as excited about preseason games. As I do about postseason, frankly, just the preparation and the opportunity I spent twenty plus years riding buses in the minor leagues. Spent a lot of years calling college basketball and college football and places like North Texas or the patriot league. And I and I love those experiences in love the people that I covered in those conferences, but to be here at the pinnacle of America's most popular sport, one of the greatest sporting events in the world along with the world company Olympics in the Super Bowl is right there again, I it's hard to fathom to do it four times in five years. I know my first experience someone from one of the national networks pulled me aside. And he said, look, we'll give you a piece of advice. I get to do this every year, but you may never get back to this game. So just try to appreciate back. Get back out of this. Right. He's ryan. And I tried to take that advice still to sheet every second enjoy every moment of it. Because chances are that you don't get to a second or third much less afford, Bob. So is the play by play voice of the patriots.

And when clear lake men gave the signal, and then, of course to the crowd that. Offsides on any other snap. But the one in which there's interception. That's tough. What this been like for you? I'll just even as I asked the question sorry for play by play person myself that this is the kind of stuff you live for right? The championships the playoff games so for you. So is this your fifth season? This is my sixties. Okay. So it's a little bit off. But what's it's been like for you now three consecutive Super Bowls. And just an incredible ride hard to put into words, and that's what I'm supposed to do. Right. But the experience really is as a player told me last night. It's indescribable to think of the good fortune that I have I seen some of my colleagues here play by play terrific, and what they do and have been in the league along longer than I have. Spent a lot of years calling college basketball and college football places like North Texas or the patriot league. And I and I love those experiences and love the people that I covered in those conferences, but to be here at the pinnacle of America's most popular sport, one of the greatest sporting events in the world along with the world company Olympics in the Super Bowl is right there again, I it's hard to fathom to do it four times in five years. I know my first experience someone from one of the national networks pulled me aside. And he said, look, we'll give you a piece of advice. I get to do this every year, but you may never get back to this game. So just try to appreciate. Right. He's ryan. And I try to take that advice. Still to appreciate every second. Enjoy every moment of it. Because chances are that you don't get to a second or third much less afford. That is good staff. Bob soci- is the play by play voice of the patriots radio network. I mean, you are you're the cabaret, man. This is also thank you so much for a couple of minutes. Thanks, amy. Think about that six years with the New England Patriots and about to call what a fourth Super Bowl. Now. Just a. An amazing first NFL gay. But I appreciate that. Bob has this this perspective of wow, not everybody gets to do this. First of all I in the NFL, which in and of itself is an incredible place to be and there's so many talented announcers and analysts in the NFL the best of the best. "And he was asked to talk about the history with the patriots and the chiefs they met earlier in the year very memorable game on Sunday night. Football patriots one at forty three forty. They kicked off the two thousand seventeen season with the chiefs coming into Foxborough and winning forty two twenty seven in two thousand fifteen the chiefs came here in the divisional round and lost the patriots twenty seven twenty and who could ever forget Monday night football week four twenty fourteen with the patriots going to Kansas City and get absolutely destroyed. Cincinnati. Cincinnati. Thirty seven. Cincinnati forty-one fourteen chiefs in that game. And that was supposed to be the end of the dynasty records. Brady looked off the patriots to win to Trent Dilfer said ball same more than not good anymore. In fact, bell Jack was asked seven Thirty-seven-year-old quarterback time to maybe look at Jimmy Garoppolo rookie. Well, here we are four years later in the patriots of won two Super Bowls. They've been to three. Of course, they're going to their eighth straight AFC championship game. The only game. Really you can look back on is earlier in the year because the difference there from the other games is Patrick Mahomes is a couple of levels above Alex Smith. Right. We can agree on Alex Smith is grilled chicken over salad. He's a good game manager not gonna make mistakes, but he's not gonna while you he's not gonna make plays that. You know, that you go back to the sideline and say, I don't know how we can defend this guy. Overall pick. And he was about twenty four slots ahead of Aaron Rodgers who they kinda look like brothers a little bit. But Patrick Mahomes is gonna be the MVP again. He had a solid game against the colts on Saturday to beat the colts thirty one thirteen. Championship game. No. But I mean, he he had a good game. But ran for touchdown rather than three stats weren't eye-popping because they were in control that game the entire time. They ran the ball. He he did exactly what they had to do. Their defense was really good Saturday. Yeah. And their defense is good at home. They give up only sixteen points a game at Arrowhead stadium. They gave up thirty five points a game on the road. So he we have two teams meeting Sunday Arrowhead stadium has been kind of a difficult place for Tom Brady and the patriots Brady's one and two and three games at Arrowhead stadium. The chiefs only lost one game this year at home that was against the chargers. We know the patriots three and five on the road. So obviously, that's why the chiefs are three three and a half point favorite going into Sunday's game because they have the home field advantage. But you look back to that earlier game this year forty three forty the pats one on a last second field goal by Gostkowski one of the most entertaining games of the year. So this is a little bit of a different dynamic than when you play the chiefs in the past, of course, outside of what happened earlier in the year that Mahomes is a guy that can make these wild plays that you really can't defend because he can really stretch the. Field. Yeah. I mean, we talked about Mahomes a lot this season. And he just got an unbelievable arm you compare it and Brett farve a few times. I think that's a pretty apt comparison may be a little faster than Brett farve mobile. Yeah. Five could move Mahomes a little bit little bit faster. They both have like unique arm talent because they can throw from anywhere and the just the offense a personnel. The chiefs have is is great granted they did lose cream hunting who who you saw earlier in the season and who last year in week one, absolutely. Gassed you other than the fumble. I play his NFL career last fumble of his NFL last perhaps again, but they've sort of filled in the gaps real Damian Williams just played nice for them. And they haven't really missed a beat not have agreement. Tie hill is one of the most dangerous wide receivers in football because he's got on believable. World class sprinter levels speed seventy five yard touchdown pass. And catch that he had against the patriots which tied the game in the fourth quarter that was breathtaking because to patriots had good angles on him. And he just left them in the end L use him out of the backfield to run eight or thirty four yard rushing touchdown on Saturday. So he is he's as dangerous as of offensive talent as as they come. And then you pair them with moms in that superior arm strength, and they're they're very difficult team. And like you said the fence has been bad this year, but at home to lot better and against the colts the defense look really good because the two touchdowns scored one was on a blocked punt the other one was a garbage time touchdown by the colts late in the game. And let's not forget about Kansas City as I said, they give up sixteen points per game at Arrowhead thirty five points per game on the road. They also tied for the league of Saxony linear. It really is. It's amazing. We're talking nineteen points per game difference between home and away. Almost logical. You could be that different defensively. Well, I mean, you could look at this too with the patriots defensively they give up twenty five points per game outside the division twelve and a half points per game. Inside the division. So division sucks. The division is really bad. The chiefs like playing at home rather than on the road, actually nominee. Touchdown passes. Mahomes had on the road. Eight fifty this season have fifty for the entire year. How many through on the road? Guess twenty thirty one more time on the road than at home. Maybe we're looking at a game that may not be forty three forty maybe more like twenty seven twenty four especially when you look at the weather forecast. And it's supposed to be about twelve degrees at kickoff at six forty yard time on Sunday nights. Yeah. That's gonna be part of the hopefully anymore snowballs. A throw people at the NFL Andy Reid walk over and sculpted. Don't do that. Yes. Bad bad chief's fan. Andy Reid is the younger coach of the two. He's sixty ballot. Check is sixty six nearly warmer though. He's got more boys Mr. cooled on that one piece jumpsuit that he he wears. Yeah. It's it's I mean, Arrowhead is always a tough place to place while allow the stadiums and the cold won't really be too much factor because both teams are used to playing in the cold. So when we were talking about this week, hey team from LA coming across the country, and they should have stayed here. From Baltimore told them. What would what would the loss be there? Well, they can sleep in your bed. Well, so what? Probably a good thing for Philip rivers because hopefully nine months from now we don't have another kid in the rivers fan. Sherry will. Yes, he's got that. Now, he can't stop nine even going even numbers. But it's it's yeah, you're right. You can't look at it and say, well, this is just going to be a duplicate of when they played in. What was it? We six forty three forty as if you look at it that way. You're going to the teams are so different. We talk about this all the time and football. You don't really know fully what a team is until week ten eight nine. Yeah. And so these teams don't really resent Red Sox were still playing when these these teams don't resemble what they were week six Mahomes is I would say probably better with experience that was probably his first huge game. Right. Sunday night football. They came in five. And and I lost that was there. I loss and the first five weeks he had some nice wins without question. One of them being at Pittsburgh which six touchdown game to get on. Pittsburgh had a great game against the chargers to start the season. But that was this was like, okay, we're going to see the next great young quarterback against the greatest quarterback ever. That was studying and football some Mahomes. Little bit early gains were a couple of picks early. They were down twenty four nine at the half. But then they started to explode in the second half. They put up thirty one points on the board in the second half for the game. Holmes was twenty three of thirty six three hundred and fifty two yards four touchdowns but to interceptions Brady was twenty four thirty five three hundred and forty yards one touchdown, no interceptions. And it was another good game by Sony Michelle against the chiefs back in week six twenty four runs one hundred six yards four and a half yards per carry and two touchdowns. And it was James white Knight. Six runs thirty nine yards five receptions, fifty three yards. We always say when James white gets ten or more touches the patriots never lose. Well, yesterday had fifteen receptions. So my Matt says that's more than ten and against the chiefs early in the season he had eleven so you're gonna see a lot of white a lot of Sony Michelle because that keeps the chiefs offense off the field. And maybe also keeps the crowd at babies have possessions is key big your offense is like that. You got to keep them off the off the field, and you also don't want to get into second and nine third and ten against the chiefs defense. It's not a great defense, but they can rush the passer they they tied for the league in sacks this year. Now part of that is because they're always a head. They're up three scores. So you t off right and you're able to sack the quarterback but our nuance than they it. They sacked Andrew luck four times on Saturday and. It only given up eighteen sexy entire year offensive line that you were raving about and saying Clinton Nelson's the best offense lineman since Orlando pacer would even back. I'll go back to John Landau that they were bad man was manhandled. But wouldn't you agree that looking at that week six matchup and now looking at this as he can't be chip game? It can't expect the same type of game. No. Because again, there's more at stake. Sure. Of course, obviously, maybe the offense is as free flowing. There's more pressure on Mahomes and Brady and look Brady does seem impervious to pressure. But last time I checked he is Uman. I think sometimes he acts like a cyborg human positive. But yeah. If he gets hit, then he's human. Yeah. Always. I mean when they've lost. You can just talk about another AFC championship game against the Broncos. A getting it all up and down three hours ago. And they lost that game when he gets hit at it's not just him. When quarterback when they're getting tattooed that are probably gonna lose the game. So the patriots it's going to be a tall task for the patriots offensive line. Again. I don't think that this chiefs defense is as talented as the colts Steve SRA as the charges events. You just saw especially when it's not. And especially in terms of just addresses in Bosa Ingram. They don't have guys like that. I mean, they do have Justin Houston Ford fresh. Stressing Houston's not as good as he was. No, you know, three or four years ago where he was maybe the best linebacker in the league. Chris jones. Christie. Sure. I don't think it's as talented as a unit they clearly play better at home, which is an advantage for them. So the patriots will if anybody saying they will not have their hands full is out of their mind. It's it's I mean, this is a very very very good football team that they're gonna play on Sunday. And it's gonna be a tall task for not just the patriots defense against that top offense. But for the patriots offense to go on the road where they struggled all year long to score and score at Arrowhead. In cold weather three times this year that score ten or fewer points on the road. That's that's nearly half their games on the road that they just could not muster any type offense. You talked about the difference between week six and now Kareem hunt will not be there for the Kansas City Chiefs. He had ten rushes eighty yards in that game also five receptions one hundred and five yards and a touchdown. So that they're not going to be there for the cash. The patriot killed them. He killed them both games against absolutely. Josh Gordon had five receptions, forty two yards. He won't be there for the patriots. Obviously, maybe they'll be watching the game together. I don't know. Maybe be interesting. Maybe we could sit down with them. And have a nice conversation to see what they think of this guys who may never play another down in the NFL. Fortunately, yeah. So it's yeah. Those two guys I'd take cream a power ranking who the bigger factors were in that game or overall to the offenses cream hunt list more important than yes, Gordon was but. Like, I said just because they lost Kareem hunt doesn't make them not an incredibly dangerous offense because they still have a ton of weapons and their running game has been fine. I mean, it's dipped a little bit. But because cream on it was just a superior talent. But Damian Williams has been very good for them. And because they're so just outstanding passing the ball. It opens up a lot of lanes for any really good offensive line. And you still get Andy Reid calling plays. And I I don't know if there's a better play designer play caller and all the NFL. He's the best head coach oftentimes has problems with clock management. We'll see if that comes back to bite him on Sunday against the patriots. If it's a close game, which I'm reading this thing should be close. The thing is to is the importance of getting a lead in any football game while in the eight playoff game. So far this year. The team that scored I won seven of the eight games with the exception of last night's saints eagles game where the saints didn't appear to be like into the game until the second quarter. And then they came back and won twenty two four team. So getting ahead. Obviously. Now, you can start to dictate what you wanna do on offense and the defense can do against the opposing offense that's important getting an early lead. And again, keeping that crowd out of it at some point. Because if the chiefs come down at score I and that crowd going crazy we've seen that happen in Denver when you're on the road, it's tough to run your offense in loud environments, and I would think Kansas City is going to be about his lousy can be on on Sunday night. This is the first time. The chiefs have hosted the AFC championship game in the forty seven year history of Arrowhead stadium. So they're going to be like the Red Sox were in all four getting to the World Series. No denying them. That's probably what the feeling in Kansas City is the team the fans keys, the jump ahead of them, and maybe get them doubting themselves. Yeah. That's definitely a hugely important is take the crowd out of it..

"Are in Kansas City, Missouri in advance of Saturday's colts chiefs game and the colts have a lot of great stories. I don't want to get so caught up in the chiefs because we're here in Kansas. Yeah. Colts have been great story this year. They started one five they've turned it around in large part because of their first year head coach Frank Reich. The guy who wasn't even interviewed until after Josh mcdaniels left the colts at the altar following Super Bowl fifty two. Frank reich. Got his start in coaching late. He was an intern with our Tony Dungy. That's right. Coach Dungy went to Indianapolis this week to talk to Frank Reich. Here's a little about what? Frank Reich had to say regarding his aggressive nature as a head coach. Now watching that and the Kansas City offensive. I was in their chair. I'd be saying, hey, we've got to control the ball and keep them off the field. I don't sense you feel that way. That's your mindset. That's not the mindset now. I don't mind if it plays out that way. But our mindset is to score every time we touch the ball with the quarterback that we have. And in the skill guys that we have in front. That's the way we approach it. So you're going to be aggressive. We're going to be aggressive and let it rip. I mean, we know this team scores points. I mean, I'm confident our defense is gonna play. Well, we're going to go out there and try to score. That's Frank Reich with Tony Dungy. You'll see the full interview on the pregame show tomorrow three PM eastern on NBC a full ninety minutes. And look I on one hand I hear what Frank Greg has to say about being aggressive, and maybe he's just bluffing. But then I think that's the attitude that his players love it dates back to the overtime game against the Texans. We criticize Frank Reich for going for the win not settling for the time. When he was trying to instill how to win a game did that day. Didn't work the rest of the way. Yeah. Exactly. Right. And again, I don't expect the colts to change their game plan. I mean, I hear you. It is dangerous. Right. When we talk about. Okay. You you wanna get into shootout with Patrick Mahomes and company, but I think that at the end of the day when they evaluate Kansas City throughout the week. They go I mean, we're just crazy if we don't attack a defense that's giving up two hundred and seventy three yards a game in pass yards. It's the second worse than all of football. And you haven't Andrew luck. So they're going to be I think still pay with the same formula. We've really seen them play throughout the stretch. It's going to be probably about sixty forty pass. You can never just go all it's all pass and they'll have some timely run cause. And that's the beauty of Frank Reich's offense. I really think it's it's so aggressive down the field like an Andy Reid at a Patrick Mahomes and and trying to find big pass plays there. But he does have some great creative run designs as well that I gotta give Dave Gilmore their their offense, align he's a guy that was in New England that took over for Dante scarred. Now you've been practicing. I think I still butchered it. This is the practice practice ideal ideal. But he's he is a very good offensive line coach. And the one thing I look at them every week is go who they always have a few wrinkles in their run game that I go that's very creative way to block this play or whatever it may be. But I do I expect this to be points points on the board and the colts the biggest thing I think for them more than anything is handling those opening emotions of this slow ballgame. We know that stadium is going to be on fire and they haven't seen an offense. Like this all year. You look through the colts history. We talked about it in the first hour. There's there's no high powered offenses colts has had to defend all year. When I say that I mean, great scheme with talent offense, align that's able to pass protect like Kansas City. And I think we're gonna see a high scoring game. Like like, we saw what it was Trent green verse Peyton Manning back in the day where it's up and down the field, and you know, who can make that big play to on defense to defend a swing the pendulum. Yeah. That was a playoff game. Very very nice. That was a playoff game here at Arrowhead stadium within the past fifteen. The cultivar one is many postseason games at Arrowhead stadium is the chiefs. That's crazy really is. So that one is going to be broken on Saturday. And I look I think the chiefs overall or the better team, but the colts are dangerous. Nine and one down the stretch and the regular season they went to Houston and won convincingly over the Texans. Now, it was twenty one nothing. And then it kind of tailed off after that. But I still think the colts right now, everything Frank Reich has done everything. Chris Ballard the GM has done. It is magical in his special. Remember what Chris Ballard told us back at the league meeting? It's going to take a couple of drafts to turn it around. Yeah. It's turned around. And I can't wait to see what his follow up is. After a draft last year. They brought Quentin Nelson round one Darius Leonard round trading. Brayden Smith around pros all teammates Ryan, I know, and they'll just get better and better and better they get the cap space. If they want to go out and make a big splash. That's right. I don't think they should pursue bell. That's just an example of kind of name if they want to have the luxury to do it. And you're gonna be wanting to be careful not to screw up the chemistry your team. I agree. That's going to be part of the challenge when you can add these pieces who do we add who do we resist and the colts? I think the aero was pointing up and this is a team right now that really any of the teams in the AFC can get to the Super Bowl. Yes. Any of them? In the NFC. I feel like it's tilted toward the saints. Sure. But any of the remaining four AFC teams, you can make a very compelling case that they're going to win the next two games and get to the super by. Agreed. I I would not be shocked if that you underdogs won the football games this weekend. And we were watching the colts and chargers play LA in LA twenty seven thousand seats would be crazy. I mean, the optics of that would be interesting to see she just move the game to the Coliseum if it comes up, but they won't already told weeks ago if the chargers host the AFC championship game it will be at their stadium. It won't move to the Coliseum. Okay. Good. I mean, okay. I I wouldn't want them to move the Coliseum play with where where you've been all year long. But you gotta give credit to the colts in so many different areas. I mean, first of all Chris Ballard like you were saying just so impressive. What he did finding like some hidden gems within there too. I think that's the thing. I really look at and then Frank Reich. I mean, a guy that I've crossed path past with paths with a few times in my life. He is such an impressive guy. He's. She had a great demeanor about them this this like it's this calmness. But yet there's this great confidence in when you talk to him. And I think he's brought that to their football team in this fearlessness factor that they have shown where. Oh, okay. Well, hey, we're one in five we don't care. We're just gonna continue to keep chopping away here, and they have caught fire and Andrew luck playing phenomenal football, and they are certainly dangerous and as far as beating the Kansas City Chiefs. Let's assume the patriots win. Yes. On sunday. Right. And that's not an easy assumption. No, it's not. But I'm thinking about the story lines. That would go into the AFC championship game coming here to face the chiefs. Right. They'd have to go on the road or having the colts comeback four years after the Deflategate right after the Josh mcdaniels jilting the colts Frank Reich taking over. There is no bad AFC not on how this plays out. But if the patriots make it you're gonna have great storylines coming out of either potential opponent, and we'll know going into Sunday who the patriots would be playing if they do. Hold serve at home. Yeah. That's right. I don't I would not be disappointed in seeing really any matchup that either conference. I mean, I do think we've gotten down to the best eight teams in football. It took the eagles a little while to finally get there because we saw moments of early on in the year, but they found ways to ruin games and mess things up to where they really got behind the eight ball and had a struggle to get in. But I am facet. I I'm throwing the challenge. Flag on you. You're saying right because you said all year how good the Steelers. The Steelers are one of the best teams in the do. It's their own fault. They're not playing this. Yes. You're right. You're right. I think like the Steelers were one of those teams where I looked at them and said that they got in the playoffs watch out, and I wouldn't have been shocked if we saw them in the AFC championship game. So yeah. No, no doubt about that. But I think the match up. I'm most intrigued to see just as a true football fan would be New England having to come here indications of city and that rematch of the game we saw earlier this year. But now it's in Kansas City's home turf and watching Patrick Mahomes, the new versus the old and Brady and Mahomes. I think there's some fascinating story lines. There was a trend for years where the one seed in the two seed was about a fifty fifty proposition of losing in that division around a variety of reasons the BI week coasting down the straps really a lot of momentum for the team that won in the wildcard round in recent years. It's been one seeds in two seats in advance looking like for now. I mean, if that holds we're going to have the two conference championship games that we hoped for. That we assumed we get chiefs patriots rematch. Saints. Rams reman. Yeah. I have a feeling one of those two is going to get. Yeah. I mean, it does seem that way that that would probably be too perfect for the football gods to really feel good about that. But either way I don't think we're going to see any bad match-ups next week, whether it's NFC or AFC, and you know, hey with the Indianapolis Colts in the Kansas City. Chiefs matchup. We've talked a lot about a lot of things that were excited seeking that pass rush for the chiefs get home against that colts, offense, align and can the chief secondary slowdown the colts passing game. And they're big pass plays because they've been pretty underwhelming the whole year long and then house Patrick Mahomes. Tyreek hill Kelsey, how are they gonna play with the week off playoff? Andy Reid with a week off. Especially is there's so many different things in different angles. You can talk about in this game. I remember one of your big talking points going into the colts Texans game that the cult offensive line is good enough to neutralize the pass rush of the Texas. And then the back end not good enough to cover the TY Y Hilton. I. You're exactly right. And that's really going to be the big thing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Ford, Chris Jones. They were all almost in double double digit sacks. I mean, just in Houston was the only one I think he had nine and a half sacks. So this is one of the best pass rushers and football. This is going to be very loud. They're going to get a little head start. When the when the ball is snapped because of the crowd noise, and and the other side of the ball to hey, the colts defense it sound it plays. Well, we know that this is a different animal. They haven't seen anything like this all year long, and I would expect. Hey, we always talk about Andy Reid off by weeks. Right. Mike and how awesome he is.
