Donita St. Clair Martin launched into an angry tirade directed it long like only a heartbroken mother can. He tried to run from this situation. They jumped him, beat they him and then a shot and then your system left him for dead. Police had fled the CHOP zone in of June 2020 and first responders wouldn't cross the barricades. Jayapal also says the decision mainly affects poor people and people of color who would have had a better opportunity to fully participate in the economy. Washington's two House Republicans have weighed in, with Kathy Harris Rogers having previously said, quote, the cost of canceling student debt is more inflation, higher taxes and increased costs. Keep that in mind when it costs six dollars to buy a gallon of milk. Men are outnumbering women, largely due the to male the centric tech industry in the region. For every 100 young women, there are more than 112 young men, according to data compiled by the Seattle Times. That makes King County the third most male heavy county in the country behind San Francisco and Santa Clara counties out of California. On the other end of the spectrum, Washington D .C. is the female, most with only 90 young men for every 100 young women. Jeff Pojola, Northwest News Radio. State fire officials are pleading with you to be extra careful with fire during the July 4th holiday period because it's warm and dry, with some winds expected. Department of Natural Resources meteorologist Matthew Dare says fire danger is abnormally for high the holiday week. He says with the number of people doing recreational activities, it's important to limit human -caused fires. Going into the later portions of next week, hot and dry weather continues. It does look like it's going to be another hot and dry summer across Washington, with drought already creeping into the West Side. I only expect that to get deeper into the summer months. DNR believes it's possible we could see fire season extend well into the fall because of the dry outlook. Some major changes are coming to the nation's best -known contests as Publishers Clearing House agrees to a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The company will change its business practices and refund millions to customers. Northwest News Radio's Annafactor spoke with consumer man Herb Weissbaum a contributing editor at checkbook .org. The Federal Trade Commission accused Publishers Clearing with House using a variety of deceptive practices to mislead people about how to enter its sweepstakes or to make them believe that a purchase was necessary to win or would increase their chances of winning. In settling the lawsuit, Publishers Clearing House did not admit doing anything wrong, but it did agree to make some changes to its online business practices. PCH will also refund $18 .5 million to customers. So much of this case had to the do with assertion that you could enter without making a purchase, not the contest itself. Is that right? Yes, the FTC never question the integrity of the contest, which has generated billions of dollars in sales since it started in 1987. The government alleges that Publishers Clearing House used tricky wording that led people to believe they must make purchase a to enter or that making a purchase would increase the chances of winning, neither of which is true. Publishers Clearing does House have disclaimers that say no purchase necessary, and the company insists people who visit its website know that. But the government says those no purchase necessary messages were in a small light font that could be easily overlooked. FTC Herb, the made other allegations about the company's business practices. Tell us about that. The government says Publishers Clearing House to failed disclose the true price of goods it was selling by hiding shipping and handling costs until well after the purchase was completed and it was too late to stop the shipment. These hidden fees, the FTC said, averaged more than 40 % of the product costs and promising no risk purchases from the PCH website without disclosing that the customer would be responsible to pay the return shipping costs on unwanted items. What changes has Publishers Clearing House agreed to make to settle this case? The company will be prohibited from implying that a purchase is required to enter sweepstakes a or that buying something will increase the chances of winning, and it will make clear, unavoidable disclosures on every shopping page that a purchase is not required to enter and will not help someone win that the company will be any responsible to pay the return shipping costs. without any sales messages. Publishers Clearing House will also disclose the full price of all items along with any additional fees for shipping and handling. before a customer commits to making that purchase and most important what about the 18 million dollars in refunds? How will people find out about that? Well, no idea of how or when that might happen. "You thought you were all of a sudden in South America. Like la Barra brava was dancing, it was present. It was vibrant. It was an RFK. There were years from, let's say, 2010 to 2018 where they just didn't put a good product on the field, man. And that's the thing about D.C., as we talk about, you talk about all that passion, all those fans. I talk about all that history. These people know, man, like they're not these are not fans that will just show up to watch a meddling side. You know, if you put a crap product out there, they resent that. All right, let's touch on those big market teams to Dallas is of the world. Chicago, Houston, even New York, and it paints me to say Philly because Philly's actually successful. And I think they've got a very interesting model and do things in a very good way. But you need to be relevant in your market, especially Major League Soccer they need to have relevance in these major markets. I mean, how do you improve these markets? Look, let's start with say like Dallas and Colorado, I think those teams are hamstrung by their stadium in a way. They are remnants of this MLS one where the soccer specific stadiums were these exurban things, part of bigger developments. And we got to say this, the stadium, a new stadium, isn't like a panacea for everything. I mean, you got to look at the Houston dynamo when you talk about that. They're in one of the biggest stadiums in the biggest cities, excuse me, in America. Again, diverse multicultural along soccer history. And a lot of times they can't get anybody to come to that stadium. So it's tricky, man. If there were silver bullet solution to this, man, I would tell you, but it's complicated. Maybe they can figure it out. Maybe the professors at MLS university can figure this one out for us. It's sad because as a player in the league, when I used to play in Major League Soccer, we had like a term between us. Soccer Saturday. And there was nothing worse than playing soccer on a Saturday at 1 p.m. in Dallas. In that humidity on that hard field, those moments, you know, remember back then when MLS used to cater for that soccer Saturday audience and listen, it pains me to say, but you're right about Colorado. Man, I scored the first goal in the history of that stadium. So I want to see it be around for a hundred years.

"Since we have that much time, what I'm going to do is I'm going to break it up by blood type, and then I'm going to break it up by time zone. And I'm just going to go through from there. Can he bounce back this year? So I think he's an obvious one. The other obvious one and it was hard for me to put this together so I went with a grouping, is the Chicago fire. As an entire club entity, you could put it as a coaching staff and front office down entity if you want, or you could just go to shakiri and Hiro Torres. If you really want to just stick to two specific players, but shakiri has the potential, I think, still. To be one of the biggest gas theorem winners of all time. And the other one I'd go with is ache ache. He was the biggest signing in Houston dynamo history. He wasn't even playing at the end of the year. And then he went to the World Cup and okay, tournament, I guess, but there's a massive expectation on him. So those would be the three obvious ones. But then you have like the Camille Joe's reacts of the world where it's like, yeah, this guy was nothing. Last year. Is he something? And that's the opportunity that a lot of players have that were signed. I think a lot of teams set themselves up with a summer signing last year where now that player could have that opportunity. I mean, leukemias. To bring it back to the Red Bull stuff, like leukemias came in and he had like 7, 8 good games in a row, but then he didn't do anything the final 20 games of the season. He's a goss theorem potential guy in my opinion and if he is, then our predictions about the Red Bulls this year are going to look good and they're going to make the playoffs or their 14th straight time. I have Jack maroney in that group as well. Kind of got in, injuries, slow down. He was so little, but we're going to little plate so little as well. Yeah, and maybe I'm just I'm probably over indexing this win against Orlando in the preseason. Where he looks pretty good in the second half. But Carlos heel is going to create chances no matter who's on the field, the question is, is somebody going to finish those chances? It might not be veroni. I mean, it seems like it's completely up for grabs it forward like Gustavo Bo arrived this week with his green card. Josie out there was played in pre season. We had a little knock recently. Bobby wood played the first half of that game. You have veroni. It just feels like a train wreck on that depth chart up top, but veroni came in with a big pedigree with a lot of hype with the DP tag.

"The big money issues in the world of sports. I'm Michael Barr, along with my colleague, Scarlett boo and Damien sasso, today's show is all about the World Cup. The tournament kicked off in Qatar with the opening ceremony getting the action started on Sunday. November 20th, Bloomberg's Simone foxman is in cutter, covering the World Cup and talked about what she saw at the ceremony plus takes us behind the scenes of some of the controversies. Some 67,000 fans gathered to watch an opening ceremony very impressive and a match between Qatar and Ecuador. But more interesting perhaps is who was in the stands because we had president Abdul feta as sisi from Egypt, president Recep Tay Erdoğan, shaking hands for the first time. He's from turkey and also crown prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, sitting next to the FIFA president Gianni infantino. But lots to watch for and we are back with the controversy yet again after FIFA said there would be sporting sanctions for players who wore rainbow colored arm bands. This was something that Harry Kane of England in particular planned to do, as well as captains of Germany, the Netherlands, and some other European teams. Now it appears they will not do so, their teams telling them not to do so. These rainbow armbands, of course, supporting LGBTQ rights. That was Bloomberg Simone foxman from Doha on the World Cup. Our next guest is no stranger the world cups. In fact, he is the only U.S. player to play in four FIFA World cups. He's an MLS ambassador and co owner and director of football operations at Fort Wayne FC in USL league two. I'm talking about DeMarcus Beasley. He joined us to chat and he might be able to give us a prediction or two. DeMarcus talk a little bit about the added pressure on the U.S. men's national team after they failed to qualify in 2018. Where does that leave them in terms of their own expectations and the public's expectations of how far they can go this time around? I think there's a bit of pressure on them from some fans from the media as well because we didn't qualify in 2018. We haven't. That was the first time that it happened. So I think these players now, they put that on their shoulders. I don't think they don't let it affect them. They're very they're young. They have that. They still have that mentality and no fear, added to where they don't really know what to expect at times. And that could be a bonus that could be dangerous in the world of shocker. So I really think that they've all came together as a group to fit like we know what happened. We know what happened or what didn't happen four years ago. So MLS has grown links and bounds from them and now, and just speaking about the World Cup, the league we have this year, we have 36 players playing this World Cup. Well, contributed from the MLS doctor from minimalist. And that's phenomenal from before I leave this has been around for 26 years. Now that we have a lot of young talent coming through coming through the range, the league is growing. It's not just on the field. I think it goes from up the field on the field. And MLS is starting to lead the way. And being a league of choice, not just for American players or for European players as well. You want to impress people when you play trivial pursuit. Here's your question. Name the only U.S. player in history to play in four FIFA World cups. I know it's huge. 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014. And I think about your experience and now you are officially the Major League Soccer ambassador, tell us what that's like. I mean, it's easy to talk soccer when you played it all your life. But there are people making money on the flags that are being sold their people moderating the forums where all of this chatter is taking place. What are those people doing now? As with almost everything online, right T shirts and books and you name it survivalist gear, So I assume those folks gonna continue trying to make money as long as they can. You know, in terms of the moderators will have to kind of wait and see on how many of those sites state really active. You know, One of the questions were wondering about is, you know to conspiracy theories still have the same purchase on the American mind when you don't have a conspiracy theorist in the White House any longer. And for those who keep tabs on groups like you and on I was left wondering, Is this gonna be a relief for him? You know that Cuban on might be fizzling or could something you know more bizarre, more dangerous spin out of it. You know that one. The thinking at the moment Among the sort of research community is Q and on is almost certainly going to become a smaller movement. Uh, but they were. You could become a more sort of radicalized Marilyn movement.
