"So far this is not this would not have been a good day for him around. Gosh, she would be gloating over Michael Cohen, the Trump's former lawyer now turn rat is headed to Capitol Hill around ten o'clock. He's going to testify publicly that Trump is a con man in a liar and a cheat a racist and a racist. And yes, a whole litany of terrible things. He's going to throw at the president. Of course, he's lied to congress in the past. So we'll have to take what he says with a grain of salt momentarily. We will be checking in with ABC news. Correspondent Mark Remillard who is in Washington to give us a preview of the Cohen hearings. Also in the big three, well, the mayor and the governor of gotten together to come up with a plan to fix the subway in-includes taxing marijuana, which is yet to be made legal. So we'll see how far that gets and congestion pricing, which is really sticking Joe Bartlett's, craw and internet sales tax and internet sales tax. That's right. So we'll see. But you know, you're you're right show you poke some holes into this. We don't really know they haven't come out with detailed points, just yet. No. So. We'll see how that goes on rounding out the big three to summit has begun. In vietnam. The president met with Kim Jong UN the shook hands. They looked a little lost their forbid on the podium. How to get off? So they are meeting as we speak. We'll see if there's a breakthrough you won't get too much news on CNN about that summit because the Cohen full on about Colin. All right. Let's get a preview what Coen's going to be saying from ABC news correspondent in Washington. Mark Remillard, good morning to you. Mark. Mark Remillard Lardy with us. Yes. I am. Good morning, Mark. How are you? Good morning. How you doing? All right. So what are the bombs that Cohen is going to be dropping today on Capitol Hill, we have gotten a twenty page release of his testimony that he set to give to the house oversight reform committee. And there is a lot in this. He says that he's ashamed of his time working for President Trump going back before he was president. And he says that he's going to call him a racist. Conman a cheat he's going to reveal a documentation, including a check for a thirty five thousand dollars that has the president's signature on it that he says was one of eleven payments that was coming his way after he paid one hundred thirty thousand dollars out of his own account to stormy Daniels to keep quiet their affair right before the two thousand sixteen election. And so there is a lot in these twenty pages. And again this follows nine hours of closed-door testimony before the Senate Intel committee yesterday, so Michael Cohen busy on Capitol Hill, the s now marketing we knew about this hush money payment. What as you go through this preliminary testimony here, what strikes you as being the newest freshest thing in there? Well, certainly the check they're documented evidence here or that Cohen says was given to him by President Trump that it was not a legal retainer fee that he this was in fact, a payment to reimburse him for that one hundred thirty thousand dollars again, which President Trump said on Air Force One I knew nothing about but beyond that he has this interesting story in here where he says picture this. It's it's just it's early 2017. I'm in the White House for the first time with the president of the United States. He's showing me around pointing to this. And that and then all of a sudden is telling me, oh, by the way. Hey that check is coming don't worry. So that's a. Pretty interesting statement to read and what will hear later that that this potential or or what's alleged as being a campaign finance violations. The president of the United States talking about that within the White House. Yeah. You know, even if everything that Cohen says is true today. The question is what will Trump supporters do in reaction? I got to tell you. I don't think they're going to be surprised by any of this sort of stuff. Most of them probably thought that. Yeah. He was kind of doing business offhandedly he may have been aware of the meeting to get dirt on Hillary. And there could have been so backchannel conversations about WikiLeaks. All of that being said all of that being true going to abandon him. Well, I think that's to each his own I suppose on how you feel about this. But and whether or not again, the big issue here is Michael Cohen's credibility because and as the White House, and as President Trump himself has tweeted, you know, you're talking about someone who is a convicted felon now, who's disbarred and who has admitted to lying. So now the question is are you telling the truth, and as the White House would say and as President Trump has said. He's doing it to lessen his sentence and doing it to carry favor. Again, it will depend on guests as you're watching this today as we watch this today. Michael Cohen on Capitol Hill before all the cameras under oath. You know, what we feel about his credibility here? But there is a lot to this and part of the he addresses his credibility in this. He says I understand that people will have questions about you know, why I'm doing this. And why I'm here, but I'm done being his fixer, and I'm bringing documented evidence with me to support what I'm saying. So you know, it's to each his own I suppose on the phone with ABC news. Correspondent Mark are down in Washington. What is this charge of Trump a racist? We have any more details on that Mark. Yeah. He he had a few lines in here. And this is where the statement has two parts to it. You have the parts where Cohen is essentially, alleging potential crimes campaign five violation crimes lying to the American public. These kinds of things which could also be on the moral and things that he talks about he does call him a racist. At one point. He says that you know, he mentions the the the profanity that President Trump used one time to describe poorer. Countries. He says that in private there was one time where they were driving through poor neighborhoods. And he said that only black people could live this way. And even said are there any countries that in the world that are run by black people that aren't terrible countries, basically? But he used a profane were. Yeah. Yeah. And and and and at the time President Trump excuse me, President Obama was in office. So Michael Cohen is alleging that those are things that were racist statements that you know, again, not on a criminal aspect. But this is about some of the the personality that he says that he's gotten to know over the past ten years that he represented Trump Mark as you sift through these twenty pages what jumps out at you as a potential impeachable offense. Well, I mean, certainly, it's it's building the mountain of questions about the hush money payments is significant he does say in here that he does not have any direct evidence of President Trump having colluded with Russia. He doesn't have that. He does mention does talk about the Trump Tower Moscow project, which again, we have learned over the last few months did extend deeper into the campaign, then President Trump originally said and again during the campaign, he said many. I have no business dealings with Russia. But now, we know and even from Rudy Giuliani that that extended through almost the entire campaign. But again when it comes to the Russia investigation and the special counsel and collusion in that kind of thing you have the WikiLeaks bit here, you have the fact that he says he was in the room when Roger stone called President Trump to tell him that he had spoken with Julian Assange, and there's going to be this dump of DNC emails damaging to Hillary. So you have that angle. But again Cohen says he does not have direct evidence that President Trump colluded quote, but I have my suspicions. All right. Hey, mark. I gotta ask you do. You have any knowledge about why this cone hearing was scheduled for today when the Pri when everybody knew I believe the president was going to be in Vietnam talking to Kim Jong because the Democrats run the house, my guess. I just taking a stab in the dark. You know? Mark. I wanted to see what you're going to say. I don't know. I I, you know, I don't think there's anything specifically on the record about that. But you know, hey, it does certainly lineup here. And and, you know, the Trump administration has said as well that they have been frustrated by the fact that the American media is is going to be focused on Cohen today. When President Trump says, he's dealing with one of the most pressing security. It's insulting to the presidency. There's a split time here now. Yeah, that's a split screen on CNN. All right. Mark Remillard, ABC news. Correspondent in Washington. Thanks, mark. You bet. Thanks. I like his last name Remmel. It sounds like something you put on celery. It's like Remm large sound like a other the big takeaway here is there's no collusion. No. This whole thing is about Russian collusion. And now, we got a guy testifying that Trump is a con, man. He's a racist. He did some business in Moscow. The Democrats are going to hyperventilate over it. But the thing that we're looking for is still not there. You know? It's really sickening to me this whole scenario that this hearing is going on in conjunction with very important summit meeting that the president's trying to conduct and Secondly that this little rat would turn on Trump a guy who's been very good to him and just in in reveal private conversations and confidential information just imagine if somebody did that to one of the Clintons one of their little buddies all of a sudden, let me really tell. What the Clintons do? Yeah. They've got more loyalty to Clinton people. Hey at eight forty we have open phones you can weigh in on. What do you think about Michael Cohen is he a truth teller is he a rat? We wanna know what you think at eight forty. You know, what I guess I still think Trump's gonna be impeach? I think the Democrats have to do that. But I think this Michael Cohen thing it's not going to change anybody's opinion about the president is a gigantic waste of taxpayer money. In addition to the molar probe and time. Exactly. All right. When we come back. Hey is Megan Kelly boys to make a comeback. God. I hope not and the woman who inspired one of my favorite TV shows. She has died. Sadly and has a great theme song which grinning play for you..
