Because they end up seeing that live at house blues couple of years ago. But I didn't really you know I didn't know the faulk couldn't understand why there wasn't an opening band. And when he came out you know he played eight and just the energy and everybody knew all the words of these songs and they were it was just so. It's so exciting right. The and I could not take my eyes off of him he was just in Clarence and the ban and he was just so into what he was doing. And you know he because like at nine fifteen. He came at seven thirty at nine fifteen he goes all right. That'd be the back and take a break. We'll be back about fifteen minutes. I'm going to play a little bit longer. You spend a lot of time in Jersey you Indiana and by the way. I apologize apologize every time. I hear Indiana here. The John hiatt lines where he says. I drove out of Indiana and a pickup truck. Did you leave Indiana trip Talk about growing up. Talk about What kind of music did your family? Listen to when you were so I grew up with a single mom and And she was raising myself and my brother And Growing Yep we had it the funny thing I always remember. My Mom. Doing was vacuuming the floor. Singing Crocodile Rock with Elton John. And and does she was always into her music and you have back at that time you know. She loved Elvis and the Beatles. Paul McCartney She's big on share and just did she listened to a lot of classic country. Artists like Loretta. Lynn Johnny cash and of course Glen Campbell We all know that was really important. but Yeah I got my first initials love of music. You know listening. Can you remember all those old seventies You know songs and stuff like that in the radio and And I started listening to music my mom and just ahead. I had a visual of her running that vacuum cleaner all over I remember when Russia's yeah and every such a vivid memory for me that is awesome you know that is a great specific memory and so it sounds like you were there ear. Sing along with your mom enjoying that. Yeah Yeah and I you know I. I really didn't have to say that. I did not likely LYCRA springsteen I I didn't really know who he was and You know back. At that time he was really making you know he was making a lot of music now today day you would go wow. That's that's the novel. My mom didn't know him either But you know all of my music love came from from watched my mom mom and and listening to all those songs and seventies On the radio in hot cars with me when the air conditioning wasn't always So so readily tailable. You don't tell me that actually is a really good point The I I've told this story before you know I I hi Greg High School in seventy seven so I You know was a top forty kid And and what. I remember being in barbershop there in Louisiana and someone had either there at the shop. Either it was the time or Newsweek week. the cover of like you know the Great Rockstar. And I was like. WHO's this guy who they talked about? You Know White Bar. They mentioning Elton John. Or you know or the queen or you know who are these. You know because I had no concept So yeah I mean if you were not listening to album oriented rock and if you weren't from the East Coast You know it's a little tougher for to get into Bruce Versus now I guess if you're you know you second or third generation fans as you start growing up and you started reaching high school. Did you stay true to what your mom liked. Or did you snarl branching out and finding your own music no that's Independence Day Jesse No I was very rebellious with my musical style. In fact the the very first forty five single that I ever purchased blinded by the light and finance version and I love that song. I mean I've played it over and over and over again I I tend to go to foreigner peak floyd the cars blue Easter coal yellow. And I'm a huge fan knicks with with my band. My High School. Yeah Yeah I did not Yeah into high school. You know a really nice I story that I I really love especially When when I I discovered my love of how much I love music in general because I used to write songs and you know and and I put poetry and so forth music but I have a very similar story that Bruce Kells about His his guitar and it goes back a little bit even back to my. Hi Mom so what I'm thirteen years. Old I was in choir and so is saying and I was in high direct before I got into to high school. I decided sides. I want to learn how to play guitar and I had a job babysitting and I've lived out in the country. My mom worked a lot and when I was I decided that I was going to buy this guitar. And so I wrote my bike in the town. That was a big deal because into town is about ten miles roughly. I'll take long. That's a long ride for anyone but especially the kid right right. Yeah and my mom was at work and I wasn't a seller I was doing net And so I wrote into town to the guitar shop and I actually picked up the Guitar Electric Guitar Mike. My fingers could not get around the acoustic. It was too hard for me to figure that out. I thought if I learned how to play the electric guitar will be a little bit easier for me and of course I'm a kid right and I don't have a lot of money so I I did the next best thing which was to To take this guitar and And put it in layaway so imagine and you know as a thirteen year old kid. You're putting two hundred dollar purchase. which is the big cats absolutely And the the funny thing about out that is that You know I did that. I put it all in there and I couldn't wait to tell my mom. I wrote back into town. Rebecca the house from town and and I couldn't wait to tell her she she got home and I said mom mom I wrote into town today and all I heard was you wrote into town exactly clearly and I said Yeah I wrote into town and I bought a guitar. You did what I said. Yeah I WANNA learn how to play guitar. I said so excited about it. I said I because how much did it cost. Two hundred dollars you know. And and she's like Dow is GonNa pay for this and so she made an agreement with me. I explained. Listen and I'M GONNA babysitting all summer long I'll get the guitar out when I can afford to. And she said all right. I'll make you a deal every Friday. I'm going to go into a drive. Have you in town and I want you riding your bike to town anymore. I said okay so every Friday. After I got off work she would take me to town and And I would put the money down toward that guitar and three weeks before I was supposed to get it. Out of layaway The the people that as babysitting for said listen. Tammy we're going to go on vacation so we don't need you for the rest of the summer but you can still babysit every other Saturday. I was doing so I came in and mom's like like well. How much do you owe on McIntyre and I said forty dollars and she said okay? I said well mom I suggest to. It'll take me a couple more months to get out but that's okay and one night sights on the Friday night is supposed to go into pay My mom goes grocery store and she comes back and she's like. Hey I need you to get the groceries out of the car and I'm like you know stomping around like any old teenager said listen I said I go get ah get the stuff out of the car and she goes. Didn't you get stuff out of the trunk. And I said no and she could go get stuff out of the truck so I stopped back out there. I opened it up and she bought my guitar for me so great and then it was and it was the same bruce. I related latest so much to Bruce telling that story about his mom getting the guitar kind of that that that whole experience and then he didn't know how to play. I didn't know how to play and she said well. What are you GonNa do and how are you going to learn? I said I'll get a book you know I'll I'll learn curve. I'm just going to get a book right. Yeah and she goes listen. She said go get paper and I will pay for lessons. Go find somebody to teach you how to play that thing so I did And that that I learned how to play. I wrote songs I I actually played Got Bought a second Guitar Acoustic later on and I played At a at entire my high school for fun in the Fall Festival instable in front of you know maybe a thousand people or something like that. So cool so I really relate a lot to to some of the things he he talked about with that story. Do you still play. I do I do and in fact I but I don't play as often as as I liked I would like to. I've seen more than I do than I play guitar but I had an acoustic and electric the if there's always regrets in our lives right and but a a a non and financial dawn you know critical is My father was a huge guitar player and And I never never had him teach me And so you know. I still don't know how to play the guitar. And and that is one of my regrets that if I wished that Because you know he played all the time and and I picked on it a couple of times but I never really got into it. I was passionate about it and I like I said if I could go back and tell you know there's a lot of things I'd tell younger me but one of them would be look you know. Get that guitar and you know spend a little less time watching cartoons and a little more time maybe trying to learn that and I think in the long around you'll be happier person so I love that story never. Yes that's true that is true. Yes I I think about that sometimes did so you're going to high school. You're taking all this you know you're you're embracing all these bands and stuff You've already determined that blind by the light VI- you know man for Van. Then but what. When did you discover Bruce? And what about it at this time spoke to you. Well I won't forget this at all When I was in high school I I was a feature editor my highschool newspaper and.

"Coming yeah I know we've been talking about this for months writing his obituary in it finally happened this year I guess it took new years and for him to have some soul searching to finally call it quits but Yahoo young Castro we hardly knew ye he is out so we're trying to figure out what's next for huli on word what are you gonna do from here where does he go from here the first question was he is he going to be a potential vice presidential nod so I spoke to a couple of democratic operatives who are are are in the know about this or that they all say no it's that's not gonna happen he just doesn't have it's the same thing that the reason they told me he's not going to be a vice presidential nod is the same reason that his campaign took off it didn't take off is that he doesn't have that bombastic personality that they want right now in the party he's a policy wonk and that's not going to move the needle when it comes to trying to get voters out there so they say he didn't take off for president she's not gonna take off for vice president okay so he's not going to do that what is next for early on there I spoke to the party chairman of the Democrats in Texas city says who Leon is in demand people all across the state one Leon to come out greeter at Walmart campaign for them he says that across the state there's there's been various races across the state that the Democratic Party is tabbed as vulnerable racism they've they're trying to put lots of money in inter energy into these races to turn the Texas house blue you've heard that one ten a and he says that in these races that holy on Castro hasn't been in demand so I what I'm getting is that once Julian Castro comes home from the campaign trail he's going to be going on the campaign trail in Texas for all these other Democrats who are trying to flip the Texas house blue so the question is does fully on casters name still hold any value does he moved the needle in Texas he didn't do it on a national level does he moved in Texas I you know I guess that's up for debate I guess we're going to see this is the similar tactic that battle Rourke took when he dropped out of the campaign he came back home and now he's going around the state and is campaigning for these various Democrats who want to come into the office so that's what really I'm going to do when he comes some so we're not done with him yeah now now expect to see him knocking on your door and asking you to vote for somebody yeah Garrett's gone I was hoping for more this Friday morning which again I guess it's a start by wild card weekend begins tomorrow your line up next serving San Antonio and South Texas since nineteen thirty nine.
