U.S. Military Commander in Afghanistan Talks to Taliban Almost Daily

"Meanwhile speaking of the active duty. Us military the white house is speeding. Up the evacuations. Out of afghanistan now with eight days left officially until the august thirty one troop withdrawal deadline. Ministration says in the past twenty four hours. Nearly eleven thousand people have been evacuated from kabul about forty eight thousand have been airlifted out since august. The fourteenth crowds desperate to leave afghanistan. Remain outside the airport gates where it's bedlam. Pentagon says u. s. military. Commanders are in contact with the taliban. Today we learned about another mission to rescue stranded americans outside the airport. The commanders on the ground certainly had the authorities they need to pursue opportunities to bring people in and one of the means that their disposal is of course rotary aircraft helicopters. And and we have done that on a couple of occasions. I certainly wouldn't rule out that we would do it again if it if it was the best way. So for the record a couple of extractions thus far. Meanwhile there's increasing pressure on biden to extend that august thirty one deadline for troop withdrawal while he's left the door open for that possibility leaders in the taliban have declared that a red line of their own today. The white house was asked about the taliban resistance. And the president's plans we are in talks with the taliban on a daily basis through both political and security channels decided whether he is going to need more time yawn august thirty first taking this day by day. And we'll make determinations as we go. We believe that we have time between now and the thirty first to get out any american who wants to get out and just tonight members of the house. Intelligence committee received a classified briefing on afghanistan. There chairman adam schiff democrat. California expressed his doubts that the evacuation mission will indeed be accomplished by the end of august.

US implicates Saudi crown prince in journalist's killing

"I'm anthony davis saudi arabia's crown prince likely approved the killing of journalist jamal khashoggi inside the saudi consulate in istanbul. According to a newly declassified us intelligence report released friday that instantly ratcheted up pressure on the biden administration to hold the kingdom accountable for a murder that drew worldwide outrage. The intelligence findings were long known to many us officials and even as they remain classified have been reported with varying degrees of precision but the public rebuke of crown prince. Mohammed bin. Salman is still a touchstone in us saudi relations. It leaves no doubt that as the prints continues in his powerful role and likely ascends to the throne. Americans will forever associated with the brutal killing of a journalist who promoted democracy and human rights yet even as the biden administration released the findings it appeared determined to preserve the saudi relationship by avoiding direct punishment of the prince himself despite demands from some congressional democrats and kashogi allies for significant and targeted sanctions. Saudi arabia's foreign ministry responded by saying the kingdom categorically rejects the offensive and incorrect assessment in the report pertaining to the kingdom's leadership democrats in congress praised the administration for releasing the report the trump administration had refused to do so but urge to take more aggressive actions including against the prince representative adam schiff champion of the house. Biden Admonishes Trump Administration Over ‘Obstruction’: How Serious Is It?

"In the past. Complaints about presidential transitions have actually being quite funny. Do smeared on desks, missing door knobs, taking all particular letters off keyboards? That kind of thing, sort of lighthearted, joshing us Suppose between one American administration and another Certainly not funny this time around on the U. S. President elect Joe Biden seems to have finally lost his temper. He's made a speech explicitly accusing the Pentagon of acting irresponsibly because they're failing to cooperate, he says with the Biden transition team, they're due to take over course on January, the second In a speech, Mr Biden said that particularly the political leadership of the Defense Department were being obstructive, and it meant that his team wasn't getting crucial information on key areas of national security. We've encountered roadblocks on the political leadership at the Department of Defense and the Office of Management and Budget. Right now. We just aren't getting all the information that we need. From the outgoing administration in key national security areas. It's nothing short in my view of irresponsibility. Well, how genuine is the risk? Because Mr Biden said that it's making it more difficult to protect the people of America who is speaking about this a little bit early with Hugo Lowell, whose national political reporter and contributor at political So this is really now becoming a pattern of obstruction, I think from the Trump administration and the president elect said earlier today, the Department of Defense, which in many ways is the most troubling of all, since the political maneuvering here, could have real far reaching consequences for national security. But Dear Dee, in particular has been a real thorn in the side of the transition team. They've holding meetings Previously, they've claimed that previous meetings that were canceled work by mutual agreement. This turned out to be not the case with public translator walked back these claims and when the head of the meeting, so it has been great, tumultuous for the National Security Review team's on what is Biden saying that his teams of feeling the lack off I mean classified analysis. How serious is this? Because then they know most of this stuff anyway. I think it is quite serious, and I think the bottom team don't like to criticize theme administration because he ran on this message of unity, but we can pursue some clues from what the president elect said today. No. First of all that you can't get a picture of the military's operations around the world, which is significant because this Trump administration wants to draw downs and various theaters. He's also saying You can get insight into budget planning that he's going to inherit, so there are a number of key areas. Operationally that the bottom teams say didn't have any insight into and other naming names. I mean, he's been pretty explicit his criticism. But does it mean that there are particular people in particular jobs who aren't helping? Yeah, it's a really good point. I think a lot of transition aides point towards individual called Kush Batteries, a Trump loyalist to was appointed as the Pentagon chief of staff in the days after Trump lost the election, and there was a purge of personnel. From the department is the same Kush battle that worked to discredit the Russia probe into election difference in 2016 as an aid to Devin Nunes was on. The House Intelligence Committee chairman is the same Krishna tell who was suspected of running a shadow foreign policy operation with regard to Ukraine something that came up drinking Peter increase So he's really not the ideal candidate. Democratic leaders blast Trump's pardon of Flynn

"President Trump has pardoned former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in connection with Trump's Russia contacts before the inauguration. Flynn later tried to walk back that guilty plea, NPR's Ryan Lucas has more. Flynn became a rallying cry of sorts for Trump and his base and allies on the hill, who have felt that he was unjustly prosecuted. They welcomed this part. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a key ally of the president, for example, called this pardon of good move. Democrats. On the other hand, unsurprisingly declared this corrupt. The Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, said that this was an abuse of the president's pardon power. He said that Trump is using it to reward his friends and political allies and protect those who lied to cover up for him. NPR's Ryan Lucas

"On the house intelligence committee. It was the congressman's work Devon's work in two thousand seventeen and twenty eighteen I brought to everyone's attention as of yet, unexplained irregularities in the conduct of the FBI, and the department of Justice and the CIA during the election of twenty sixteen. We now have some hours passed since Robert Mueller heading up the special investigations of the conduct of the twenty sixteen campaign beginning, and may twenty seventeen. When Mr. Muller was appointed his comments, and Devon, good evening to I note that MRs Pelosi has said up to this point. That she does not intend to bring a Bill of impeachment that she very much wants people to concentrate, another business in your work, a workplace that is the house of representatives. However, within hours of Robert Muller statements making remarks about obstruction and collusion. The New Yorker a prominent voice on the Democratic Left and the financial times, correspondent in Washington again, a strong anti-trump voice, the financial times, both chimed in that Mr. Muller statement makes it extremely hard from his blows to hold the line. In fact, I think they use the word cudgel as in it hands, a cudgel to those Democrats in the house who want to bring a Bill of impeachment. How do you regard? Mr. Mueller statement. You think it makes him beach meant more likely in the democratic majority or MRs Pelosi will hold the line? Good evening to thanks, John it for sure makes it more. Likely what I thought about Muller's little gambit yesterday is it was both incoherent and blatantly dishonest. So let's start with what, what, what was he supposed to be looking at? He was supposed to be looking at whether or not there was any collusion and conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. Well, we know from the text messages, the lead investigators before Moeller ever walked in the door. They knew that there was no evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russians. And in fact, the only information we had on Russians was the Russians that were tied to fusion GPS or possibly even the FBI. So there were fusion, Russians at possible FBI Russians working for thirty cops and possibly other countries involved. So molar walks in the door says show me the Russians there's no Russian so that game over right? There was nothing there. So then he's supposed to be looking at destruction Justice. So. So, you know, that Komi leaks is memos for the purpose of getting special counsel and, you know, despite the fact that it was rod Rosenstein, who would who would authorize combing to fire fired recommended for coming to be fired. So you have this whole situation where the subscription of Justice is really what they were investigating the whole time. I think continually bathing the president to dry to try to do something that would be so -rageous that maybe the American people would would turn against him, but the challenges is that were the incoherent part of Muller statement starts is that he comes out and says, well, the guidelines said that we couldn't indict a president on obstruction. Anyway. Well, that's the case then they want you walked in the door. You're supposed to be looking at trucks in Justice charging the president state. Why did you wait two years and forty million dollars later. Why don't you just come out and say, hey, we don't have any Russians here number one. And number two, we can't indict a president of her sorts in a Justice. So we can't really even look at it. So the whole thing's incoherent, and what it really comes down to what Muller did yesterday is he did. He really did accomplished what he wants to -ccomplish, his, two things one, he does not want to have to testify before congress because he will be absolutely destroyed by house. Republicans because his report doesn't add up. Secondly, he lit, the fuse on impeachment on the Weisman impeachment strategy, which is what he wanted to do the whole time. And I think by lighting the fuse, my guess is that the Democrats in the house will now not call molar into testify. Two parts the collusion and they've structured, I the collusion part the, the Muller investigation started in may of twenty seventeen. He did all the hiring he hired. We know and hawaiisalem who we also know had knowledge beforehand of the Steele dossier had knowledge beforehand, mothers at Justice. Cigna, still dossier. That means that right away. Mr. Mueller was in the office with somebody who could have made it very clear to him that the product had for this was a campaign dirty trick. The puzzle for all of us, Devon, not just the lawyers here, but for all of us is at that point, it's not about Mr. Muller, knowing that there was no, there were no Russians to be found. It's at that point. There's the suggestion here that there's a dirty trick going on within this Muller investigation. He could've sat down with Weisman and. Learned everything he needed to know the took him two and a half years to tell us. Yeah, johnny. So let me just throw a few more details onto that very important point, so whitesman and another attorney that ended up being on the molar dossier team. They were in possession of this evidence, but it's even worse than that. This was in August of two thousand sixteen well before the election, they were briefed on the still dossier, Bruce, or who's the highest ranking official in the department of Justice also knew about the dossier. So you have the highest ranking official citizen on. Citizen in the private citizen. I'm sorry. Non-political appointee in the Justice department, Bruce Moore, you have lifespan who's leading one of the one of the departments within the department of Justice, and you have another high ranking attorney three of them all no note that point are you telling me that they're going through this reading this, and it never comes up. You don't think that Weisman a thirty year prosecutor wouldn't like ask, hey, Bruce, or where did this come from? And I knew it was coming from the Democrats. He knew his wife was working for the Democrats and fusion GPS. So this is gonna talk about dirty tricks. This is more than dirty tricks. This is corruption. Whitesman should have never been on the molar dossier team. And in fact, he was the deputy and likely picked, what the president calls the angry Democrats Muller did yesterday is just more proof that he's willing to play this part to see this through to light the fuse to get the Democrats to impeach the president procedure matter. When it comes to the obstruction charge were believed the Democrats will bring in a Bill of impeachment, if they go through with this, and it certainly looks like they're on the train, and the trains, leaving the station. Does the Republican minority have an opportunity to call its own witnesses for the impeachment Bill? Very good question. My guess is that they will not allow us to so they will just because the Democrats have the votes rules just move straight to impeachment. Bill say they have enough information and just vote to impeach so they wouldn't let you call Andrew Weissmann to clarify what he knew. And when he told Miller about it, they won't let you. Any way that they go? Anyway, that they go. And they allow us to question anybody in this in the whether it's Bob Muller or Weisman or getting the bottom of, of, who this mysterious professor misfit was that, supposedly knew about the, the dirt on Hillary cloak Komi, declares a Russian agent. Yes. Both yesterday a Russian asset. And now you have just a just to go on a little rabbit hole there. John, you now have the former director of the FBI going farther, who was running this investigation. Holly missed it a Russian asset, but even molar himself in the dossier, didn't go that far because molar knew that MRs not a Russian asset at all. He was a western intelligence asset of some kind either working for foreign government or working for, for some dirty trickster campaign operation. Congressman Devin Nunes to continue. Congressman Devin Nunes, twenty two California who sat as chair of the house intelligence committee, when I we learned about the mysteries of twenty sixteen. I'm John bachelor. "The office of the inspector general has a penny. Ending investigation of the FIS of process in in the Russian investigation, and I expect that will be complete in probably in may or June. I am told so hopefully, we'll have some answers from inspector general Horowitz on the issue of the Fiso warrants or more. Generally, I am reviewing the conduct of the investigation and trying to get my arms around all the the aspects of the counterintelligence investigation that was conducted during the summer of two thousand sixteen right? The attorney general bar before that we have Devon newness of the house intelligence committee one of the committees. That does that after an exhaustive investigation determined that? There was no evidence of Trump Trump campaign collusion with Russia. Devon newness earlier today sent a letter to the attorney general as we've been. Telling you it is coming for more than two years, the house permanent select committee on intelligence, they committee in parentheses conducted a wide ranging investigation into the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the two thousand sixteen presidential election. As part of that investigation committee, Republicans identified several potential violations of law, given the sensitivity surrounding this matter. I will have my staff contacted department to arrange a time for Representative John Ratcliffe n me to brief you directly on the eight criminal referrals. I appreciate your consideration of this matter. Now, the former head of the house intelligence committee. Now, minority leader is Devon Nunez from California their twenty second district. Welcome back congressman, well, you said this was coming. So here it is. Thanks, sean. And thanks for all your work on this. And making sure that the American people actually knew the truth it's been a long road. But it's it's it's great today to build a send us to attorney general we're prepared to brief them. It's it's it's quite exhaustive. And I think the attorney general find it quite interesting for the investigation that now we know that that he's doing well, let me go into the issue, which I think is very important here because I'm assuming you're not going to name the names. But I think a lot of them are very obvious at least to me, and I won't sit here and offer conjectured you're not going to talk publicly about it at this point. No, and it wouldn't be appropriate. Right. Because of a lot of this is is highly sensitive classified information, the attorney general of everything that I've seen he's a grown up. And so, you know, part of the reason why we're sending these over the in this way where we went to brief him directly is because we have we have trust and confidence in him. So this isn't one of these things where we have to get a bunch of media hype. It up know the fact of the matter is I want to send this to the attorney general brief him. Let him look at it. Ask us questions that he may have about this. And you know, look these people that that were involved in this. Let's just say what we feel is inappropriate behavior. And we think that they broke the law. We wouldn't have referred them for criminal prosecution. Book. They don't need to know what we know. And that's the bottom line. I mean, I think they they all know who they are. But you know, there could be other people that don't know that we've actually found out what they were doing wrong. So I do not going to give these guys any advantage and tip them off as to what what we have. Let me ask you. I keep saying in describing to our audience, you know, there've been four separate conclusions as it relates to Trump Russia collusion, the FBI nine month investigation in even page instruct, there's no they're they're both of them saying it repeatedly Lisa page saying after nine months, they had nothing before the appointment of Muller. We had the house intelligence committee investigation, which you ran you found no evidence of collusion. The same with the bipartisan Senate committee investigation led by Senator Burr now, the mullahs report couldn't be any more clear on the issue of collusion. But that's not stopping people on the other side, it, you know, people that have been. Selling conspiracy theories and outright lies in anonymous sources and breakfast, hysterical reporting and and pronouncements by people in congress..

He claimed that President Trump did not tell the truth and lied about the hush money payments to stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Claims that Trump also new information today, he claimed the Trump knew about the WikiLeaks dump and that Roger stone. Had called Trump on the phone and Trump Tower, and that Michael Cohen claimed that he was in the office and stone was on speakerphone letting them know that the sun had told Roger stone that there were about to dump these embarrassing emails regarding the DNC and Hillary Clinton. So. Roger stone has come out since and said that is completely false. That's a lie. Again. I I trust Roger stone as as far as I could throw him. They're saying that they're going to look into whether any foreign actress to compromise or holds a leverage financial or otherwise on this president and his whether Trump or is associates were influenced by any foreign actors, the president was quick to respond to shifts move. He has no basis to do that he's just a political hack who's trying to build a name for himself. And I think that's fine. Because that's what they do. But there would be no reason to do that Trump called the expanding investigation. Presidential harassment and says it hurts the nation. "house intelligence committee" Discussed on Stay Tuned with Preet

"They're talking about the written communications between stone and person wanted between stone and. Listen to during his testimony of the house intelligence committee. We'll get to those people person one in prison to in a moment. But this this kind of I literally wrote in the margin of my indictment that afternoon. Ha now that it's a laughing matter, but the Muller indictment says indeed honor about September twenty six two thousand seventeen the day. That's don't testify before hip. See that's the intelligence committee and denied having ever sent or received emails or text messages from person to denied ever having done that right stone in prison to exchanged over thirty text messages. Amazing. So it's very very hard liar. Don't. Oh. That's good. Yeah. That's good. Did you? Now. But you know, what else say, I'm sure defend against how do you defend? There's no way you can defend against it. And it's sort of like your child asks you can have a chocolate chip cookie. You say no two minutes later, you hear crashy walk into the kitchen. The cookie jars on the floor and your kid has chocolate over their face. And you say did you just take a cookie, and they say go underneath a cookie the cookie, and it's like that level of just you just don't understand what's happening how he could say it. And I think look he's gotten away with it. This is how he rolls. This is who he is. And to me, the special counsel pulls out, those thirty text messages, you have him under oath in front of the house intelligence committee saying I never had any communication, and you know, how do you say you forgot that? I just texted him two minutes ago. There's another strengthen the indictment too because as we said count seven is not lying. It's witness tampering. And that's a discussion the indictment in some detail of all the ways in which Roger stone tried to get person to who's Randy critical. Again, we'll describe that more detail we tried to get Randy credit, go not to testify before the congress, right or to assert the fifth amendment privilege against testifying and is a back and forth between Roger stone. And Randy credit? Go were Roger stone says over and over again don't testify don't testify trying to obscure the fact that he may have not told the truth and Hindi credit go. According to the indictment says over and over again says you need to amend your testimony before I testify in the fifteenth over and over again. So because you're going to be caught in perjury. Yeah. Because because Randy's claiming he's telling the truth, and you have not told the truth. And so when you're trying to get a witness who thinks you lie and getting to an and trying to get you to correct your testimony. And then you get charged with lying and then separately charged with trying to get someone to confirm your lives or not being a position to rebut your lies, those charges as we sometimes see, and it's really nice when it happens for a prosecutor, they overlap, and they reinforce each other. It's a really important point. Because it's not just that stone himself. Lied to stop. People from finding out people like congress from finding out the truth of what happened. He also was trying to get somebody else to lie, and it really is a step beyond which is why I think it's inappropriate charged. Given the the facts that we've seen and Randy credit go just to remind people. He's a comedian radio host and stones. He's been back and forth with Roger stone. He's also reported in the indictment to be stones back channel to Julian Assange, one of the bacterial to Julian Assange and again in the indictment. You know, he's received a number of threats from stone including threats to his therapy. Doug Bianca for Bianca. Did you Bianca is the only dog to have been in the grand jury the Muller grand jury because she's a therapy dog. So I read this morning that Bianca has actually been in the grandeur. But it is it's it's an extraordinary indictment in many ways, and it is kind of textbook..
