Why Does Hair Turn Gray?

"Are talking about. Why hair tons great. So who'd you talk to. I called dr jenna lester. She's a dermatologist. And professor in the department of dermatology at the university of california san francisco. Wait duma matala street hair as well you know. I didn't know that either review but yes it turns out that many dermatologists actually treat anything related to skin nails and hair and jen has been on the show before in an episode about how dermatology is evolving to better serve patients of color. I remember that it was a fantastic episode. Louis oh good. Okay so re too much like i did with you. I opened my conversation with jenna. And let's say a very professional manner This is a hard hitting and intrusive question but geno. You have gray hair. I do not have any grey hairs. Occasionally i'll find one and the most recent one that i found out not too long ago and interestingly too did not grow back in its place. Lucky her braid and what. My mom used to tell me when i was little and this is around. The time car heads started to ten grief. I she said if you have gray hair and it falls off or you pluck it out. The rest of your hair is going to turn gray faster. Gosh leonie an old superstitious tailback in india. Oh that's really funny. We'll review guess. What gen told me. She told me that hair doesn't actually turn gray hough. Yes like if you have brown hair or blond hair on your head tomorrow. It's not going to be gray. It's the new hair that's coming in. That will either have pigment or not have pigment. i did not know that so. Once a hair starts grow it stays the same color.

Lauren Hough: Leaving Isn't the Hardest Thing

"This is lgbtq. And a with lauren. Huff offer of leaving. Isn't the hardest thing. I want to start with your childhood. You grow in the family which is also known as the family of love which is also known as children of god and it was a colt in reading the book. I discovered that. I didn't actually know what that meant. In like everything that entailed so just to begin with you. Give a short explanation to everyone of what that looked like for you. It's a lot more mundane. I think than people want it to be. I think people are expecting a lot of rituals maybe robes involved. It was living in with a lot of other people a lot of families. It was changing diapers constantly because sex colts make babies and very historical look male female gender roles right yet extremely very much reinforced. Not not just through the literature Jobs whenever you moved into a new house the boys would get setup. Building bumped beds for our beds at night and we would be so in curtains or taking care of the kids so that they adult men could go to the bunk beds and the women could cook dinner so colt is a word that we have assigned to them internally though how did they describe themselves as they're not a cult. Nobody's ever joined a cult or been in a colt. Everyone else's in occult. They are a religious sect in their persecuted and called a colt as a slur. The that's how it was discussed internally and that's what it was presented to as the mainstream media and the system might media is trying to attack us by calling the called. I mean just because we live together in a big group and follow later that we think is the prophet of god and tells us heaven is in the moon. That that's not a colt. Will i think that like everything you just said could very well be assigned to like religious beliefs by religions. Generally we get into a lot about but really the main differences occultist smaller if it has a lot of members in it's lasted a while. Now it's a

Letting the economy run hot

"Begin today with some of the cross-currents swirling around in this economy right now. The pandemic of course a relief bill or not the labor market and jobs and what in a very macro sense the prescriptions to fix that have been from people whose job it is to fix that we talked about it a little bit last friday with from the washington post. There's been a sea change in washington. Trump was part of it so the federal reserve and believing that we should run the economy hat so running. Connie hot means that we're pushing up against the boundaries of what we call full employment running a hot economy. Means people have jobs at poly economics at new college in florida. The people who benefit most from hough economy are folks that the low end of the wage distribution where it sounds like the direction one would want to be headed and in fact is what fed chair. Jerome powell says all the time however comma concern is that good. Economic environment for individuals comes at a cost in terms of higher inflation. Terrorists and cleared teaches economics. George washington university. The thing is that worry about inflation just isn't happening even as hot as this economy was running before the pandemic with unemployment last january at a relatively microscopic three point six percent no inflation to speak of at all so we've learned that we can have potentially a much lower unemployment rate than what people had thought would bring on inflation. Which is why running the economy hot is kind of a change in perspective. Jay powell i'm sure we'll talk about that idea if not use the actual words tomorrow as he wraps up the feds two day

Thank you thank you. And you. And i both belonged to culture talk community and asked where we've really gotten to know each other a little bit more this year. We've known each other for. I think we've known each other for many years but we haven't had the opportunity to really get to know each other's work until this year in. It's i got to see some of his presenting earlier this year. I was like oh my gosh everything you talked about. I was in love with and your message is so powerful and so important. And i'm so thrilled to have you meet. I'm thrilled to be here. Yeah and the whole culture talk community so the culture tucked community that we belong as we had cynthia fortunate on here last year on the podcast and she talked a lot about the The archetype work that that she and her sister really developed in have been taken out into the world and It's it's such powerful work. Yes i have found it resonating because of might be her background types being hard of the theater world and part of performance and in play writing in novels and in movies and television shows everything that that archetypical focus on the patterns of behavior who we are as people and roundedness out. I found it resonated with me and in the terms i love. you know. They're using the term him with an. I love those those twelve the hero in a lover in the near the creator and those terms and as you know in the work we do there are so many tests out there and and a lot of them have different ways of helping us be your out more about ourselves right. And they're all great right. There are the ones i know are really wonderful and great insights into who we are relating to each other and moving to the world. I feel that big gorgeous of this culture. Todd is that it resonates deep down with rice. Story south my stories propose. I know who i am. I know who that is. And that combination of things who they are. And how i show up and i get here your that. What made in resonating make granted. I need arnav or always. There's some deep seated. Hough happens with that. I so true so true. It's so funny. Because i've been working in that essence of who you are with my clients since the very beginning and so that was has always been part of my work. I'm helping my clients build their brand from the inside out. Let's start with that essence of you and starting to integrate. The archetypes into this year has religious. Put another layer of richness in to their own understanding of who they are in how they are showing up in their businesses spent. It's really been awesome. And he said the whole story component in how we really can tie this back to her own personal stories. It's such a powerful exercise to just look at archetypes and understand. You know how they shape who we are and how they guide the choices made and the life that we've created in the work that we do as also in related when you think about so you're archetypes tell us about your archetypes are a little bit about how that shaped your life from a personal story perspective. I am a magician in my next level are four. That are all very connected. And whenever i take any of the personality assessment. I tend to be this mix of many many things. This didn't surprise me magician first and then lover caregiver. Ruler and hero are all the next level and for me magician. It hit me on seoul many levels it. I am the child who was reading fantasy novels from forever. Still do as an adult. So that magician. It just made me grin from the inside aras. How and birmingham magician that sense of magic in that sense of finding for me. My journey has been finding the essence of each person that thing that sometimes they forget their or they squished in our help. Bring to light so it's like

"Life's Lish whatever his name is married to Julianna. Yeah, that I think of her. Oh, he's the A strange husband who's no, definitely. They're getting divorced. They tried to get back together. He was on How men think radio show. Isn't it a lot of talk radio like, okay. He he he said Ah, he said, I growl the time and it's wonderful. And it's something I've really learned since the passing of my two ducks. Oh, that's just such a good dig. It's something not has nothing to do with my wife saying, Come here. Go away. Come here go away. It has to do with the passing of my two dogs. That's that's beautiful. That's he has messed with his heart. Well, you know what I think? You know, she really got screwed. She was another room woman who got screwed by Simon Cowl on America's Got talent. She wass impaired after year after year and Gabrielle Union got so you know, she sued NBC made a settlement, but she just got fired youto one your contract and the thing that she did. That Simon didn't like is she didn't adore him. And she also declined his offer of having an entanglement. You think that's it? I don't know that. That's a blind item that Holly could confirm that. "So Carol Baskin is upsetting people. Are You Being Private About Your Recovery or Keeping It A Secret?

"Hello my friends. Welcome to Episode Number One Hundred Twenty eight of the Addiction Unlimited podcast I'm your coach Angela Pew here to help you solve the sobriety puzzle to alcohol alcohol-free and feel great about it. I can't wait to catch up with everybody and see what's happening in your world and I need to come clean with you about some things going on with me in my world. This actually ties in perfectly with today's topic. Are you being private about your recovery or are you keeping it a secret? And this doesn't only apply to recovery and we'll definitely dig into all those details here in a minute. There's a huge difference though between keeping something private in keeping it a secret. Last week I had my own little a hough moment when an one of our listeners who I adore he is an incredible member of our facebook group and he's such a breath of fresh air always uplifting other people. Have something positive to say. And he sent me a message asking me if I was okay, he noticed I hadn't been posting on social media for Awhile facebook or instagram or anywhere else for that matter and he was worried about me. Now let me tell you for me. Getting this message was really amazing because I am not a person that people worry about you know what I mean I'm super independent and self sufficient and I have a strong personality and I'm just not someone who requires worrying about. At the same time. It was so nice to get a message like that. Just checking in on me. It was so thoughtful and kind, and the fact that he actually took time to send a message instead of just thinking about it like all of it was really good I. so appreciate it. So let me tell you what's been going on and why I haven't been posting on social media because I'm sure if he noticed it some of you have noticed it to. The simple truth is I was pushing myself way too hard to do way too many things and it just isn't sustainable long-term. When Corona virus happened, it impacted my business in a big way much like it impacted everyone in a big way and instead of restructuring things I put myself in a position where was doing everything myself. Planning the podcast recording an editing, the podcast getting guests for the podcast creating social media posts for ten pages. Writing all the captions, keywords, hashtags, blogs posting in being engaged in the facebook group doing videos twice a week doing webinars and trainings. And writing and researching content for the membership site on top of my actual clients than I do sessions with every week, my six week program that we just started a new group a couple of weeks ago, paperwork emails, returning phone calls, and I have a whole other business also with to sober living houses with guys who are managing on a daily basis making sure they're safe in happy and answering all those calls in doing those interviews, managing those households and moving New People in. I mean it's a lot. And it's certainly a lot for a person to do by myself. Right? I. Have a little bit of help. You know I have my assistant who is fantastic but with corona virus shaven went down to part time so. That level of performance in energy can only last. So long and I hit a wall I was exhausted and overwhelmed and I knew I had to take a step back from something because I couldn't continue at that pace like I literally could not keep up anymore. And at first I thought. I would just take a couple of days off and get some sleep right focus on exercising and eating really good food to fuel my body and rebuild my energy reserves and that was the plan like a couple of days. What happened was when I let myself sleep in a little bit like each day. At Six am instead of four thirty. And I was realizing that I was even more tired than I thought even sleeping in and taking time to spend with my family and not being so hard on myself I was so tired. And that's when I decided I had to get a new game plan in order I needed to give some attention to my recovery, my brain and my body I needed to connect with people again, and I just had to take some

Dancing With The Stars: Tyra Banks Presents, And Carole Baskin's Tiger Dance Is Honestly Astonishing

"With the Stars last night got mixed reactions. Seems like some people liked it. Some people didn't know. Tyra Banks replaced longtime host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews this season and Derek Hough made his judging table debut. And Carol Baskin from Tiger King also danced to eye of the tiger and I and her dance landed her at the bottom of the contestant. Oh, man, but at the top of my heart, I mean, it really is. It's secondhand. Embarrassing. Go overseas and caution. Yeah. Just be ready for it. Be ready to watch it with your loved

Gabrielle Union Files Discrimination Complaint Against Simon Cowell and 'AGT'

"Gabrielle union I there's some news about Gabrielle union yeah in fact she filed a complaint Thursday so Gabrielle union you'll remember let's back up a little bit we'll just say that the headline is that she has filed a discrimination complaint against America's got talent's producers along with NBC universal will we'll talk about the details in just a moment but I do think it's helpful to back up and remind people that this is not the first time they've heard of Gabrielle union's harassment complaints against NBC universal and America's got talent so let me just give you a little background on that we talked about that I actually can't remember the specific when new time this very fleeting at this moment do you are you tight when we initially yeah I talked about and that was like a month ago maybe actually you know what I have to be to win new terror it was November of last year okay we learned that Gabrielle union had a complaint a number of complaints to lodge against America's got talent but specifically Simon how you remember that's when we learned about for example the story about Jay Leno making a racist joke during a commercial break that they were filming so all that was you know just under a year ago but then and we knew stuff was going on behind the scenes because NBC universal had talked about how they were addressing the issue but we really didn't hear anything else well apparently being made the negotiations which they were in the midst of conducting were not enough order Gabrielle union didn't feel that those negotiations were leading to the results she was hoping for which it seems that is the reason that she went ahead and filed this complaint and I should say that this complaint is actually very likely a precursor to an actual lawsuit so that's that's that's what I know about blackouts I'm old I am I never happened just works okay so sorry technical difficulties over okay so this is the will so we're now in the precursor to a lawsuit that will be ruled out by Gabrielle union for these discrimination allegations likely I read the story in variety which talks about how this is all laid out and what the complaint actually is who it's to and I can tell you that the complaint itself was filed with California's department of fair employment and housing and it name specifically three outfits FremantleMedia Simon cowl's production company Syco or Sicko I don't know he said it's probably not psycho and then NBC universal and again those D. H. complaints are usually precursors to a lawsuit and Holly brought this up during the dirt alert so the NBC entertainment chairman Paul to like be he has also been accused in this recent complaint of threatening Gabrielle union through her representative for speaking out against the racism on the set that she felt she witnessed okay so this is like an onion right like the layers of an onion yeah there sure initial allegations that she shared publicly and you said it was in November past that well that's when the story broke we should say about her because you'll remember she and Julianne Hough four let go and I think it was shortly there after that we started learning that not all was well right so so there's that like sort of pod right so like you know she talked about things not being so great on set in November and then just in the complaint of that or the public awareness of that then she starts to experience harassment as a result of speaking out yes so when she you know made those those complaints public apparently she claims that she faced pushback and directly threats from the head of NBC's entertainment okay S. and you know none of the people that were names I believe are speaking with the exception of a spokesperson for NBC universal and here's what they said very categorically quotes the allegation that anyone involved in this process threaten his union is categorically untrue we took ms unions concerts CERN seriously and engaged an outside investigator who found an over arching culture of diversity on the show NBC universal remains committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds are treated with respect it sounds like a very boiler plate you have to lease you know cover all your bases response it does not address the specific our issues brought up in her complaint and her people are taking you know everyone to task as a result I I'm not going to read the full response from her she I found this interesting this little side note but she's got this person speaking on her behalf and it says that he has power of attorney his name is Brian Friedman I'm not I'm not sure if that's just her legal representative but I'm I'm wondering if it's because of like coal bed that she he has to act as her power of attorney because maybe she's not able to be wherever interesting racing or maybe that's just totally standard but like when our attorney Mike white is Gabby union union you need our

"China says it's cutting and Hough terrace some seventy five billion dollars worth of goods imported from the United States in line with a deal to resolve the trade disputes between the world's top two economies commercial that's funny reports China had committed to buying two hundred billion dollars worth of American goods over to yes but even before the virus outbreak economists would doubtful whether Beijing would be able to fulfill those commitments because of the sheer volume of what it was expected to buy China is expected to suffer from sluggish consumer demands now because of the virus outbreak these trade reductions could help to reduce prices for Chinese consumers and allow Beijing to keep to its promise in the trade deal
