The Bitboy Crypto Podcast
A highlight from Bitcoin Starts Fresh Rally! (3 Things To Watch This Week)
"Good morning, everybody. It's time to discover crypto. It is September 18th. It's 11 .32am. How are we all doing today? We're going to talk about inflation. We're going to talk about Chainlink. We're going to talk about Bitcoin. We're going to talk about Solana. We're going to talk about hot wallet hacks. Is it? Is that what's going on? What is happening to everybody? And once again, we got Drew and AJ on the ones and twos. What's up, man? How was your weekend, Dizzy? My weekend was pretty good. I got heartburned for the first time ever. Weird. I've never had it. I think it's because I'm lactose intolerant. I think maybe I don't have enough acid in my stomach, but yeah, first time ever had it. Guys, that thing is tough. It's no joke. We didn't have any Tums. Never experienced it myself. It was from a chili oil and a rare ramen bowl. One of those, you know, there's like for real Asian ones. Okay. It's like a little pack. Mess me up. Mess me up. But you know what? It just gave me time to sit, be calm and investigate some more crypto. And I bought more crypto. I've bought more crypto in the past 24 hours. I might even share what it is. And I shaved the head. Point seven chain link or one whole chain link? How far are we going down the rabbit hole? It wasn't chain link because I bought chain link live. And so it's a new coin, everybody. Hey, AJ, your tweet convinced me to buy algo. Okay. Yeah. I've heard that a couple times throughout, you know, a couple times I've heard that. Look at the hair. It's actually getting closer to flock of seagulls. It is getting close to flock of seagulls in a good way, though, in a good way. And CCC says the best is because we're getting old. Yeah. I was like, I don't know what this is, babe. I don't know. Maybe it's heartburn, but I've never had heartburn. She's like, yeah, you're getting old. I got torn apart by heartburn this weekend. So what was your food? Mine was chili oil. What was yours? It was spaghetti with bison, homemade spaghetti, bison. That's a Drew meal if I've ever heard it. All right. You know what? I'm ready to eat. I'm ready to bite into some crypto prices right now. I want to bite off some more of that Bitcoin, everybody. Uh, it looks like, uh, the crypto market caps are pumping, baby. We are up 2 .1%. We are now at $1 .1 trillion, 24 hour volume. I'm surprised it's even this low. It's 37 billion bucks. We have Bitcoin dominance coming in at 47 and a half in gas, really low at 23 gwe. Heartburn, uh, when you can't get a calmness. Yeah, man. It was, I was laying, I didn't know what I was doing. I was just laying down, probably making it worse the whole time. All right. Uh, we have Bitcoin moving up, everybody. It is up 2 .7%. I just refreshed, but I want to do it again. 2 .9%. We have Eve pumping almost up to 2 % here. BNB up one and a half percent Lido stake ether up a also 1 .9%. Solana baby Solana is up 5%. Cardano ton coin on the weekly up 48 .50 % on the weekly. That's holograms coin skyrocketed the top 10. No one knows where it came from. You can see it right there. Just whew. And then it's actually a bit kind of low ever since then. Uh, who would have known that was good. Accumulation zone. Crazy. Maybe a lot of people knew crazy. I, we just put a video on ton coin out yesterday. Really interesting coin to look into. Definitely check out that video if you haven't yet. And to roof Rolf, uh, I cannot pronounce your name in the, um, in the chat there, guys, you know, where I can get AJ's full predictions. If you go to the playlist, there's a whole playlist of all of them in order of when they came out. So if you go to the YouTube channel right here, you click playlists, uh, then your scroll created a caffeinated price prediction department right there. There it is. Okay. That's where it'd be. That's where it would be. And we got, um, polka dot price predictions coming out today. Normally they come out Sunday, last week, things were really hectic. So the price prediction for polka dot is today and then it'll be Sunday from here on out. All right. All right. Uh, so is everybody ready to hit that like button? Cause I heard if you hit the like button, you increase the odds that your coins are going to pop up on the top gainers of the top hundred coins of the past 24 hours. So go ahead and hit that like button. I'll give you three seconds. I was to take a sip of water. They didn't hit the light button yet. Oh man. They just hit it. I relief is washing over me in an awesome way. All right. Uh, in the number one gainer for the day, it is E cash. Everybody E cash is up 15 % skyrocketing up to the 72 ranked here, but check how many zeros there are. I don't like coins when they have that many zeros. What about you, AJ? Yeah, I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan. I like, you know, if it's like, you know, zero, zero nine. All right. But once we get like past that third or fourth zero, I'm just kinda like, I don't, I don't know. I can't do this. It's a lot. It's hard math. I'm three thousandth of a penny. You miss out on a 10 X. Was it a 10 X? Did it reduce by 90 %? Like subtracting. Uh, I'm picturing drew in a tree knife and mouth about to jump down on the bison camouflage, black paint under his eyes, bandana, American bandana trailing in the sky. As he falls down with knives in hand, he can picture it. I can see it. I got jacked up by an entire hornet's nest. I cut down a tree and then I got in the tree to push it the way I wanted it to go and found a hornet's nest. And my entire body is full of Hornet poison. Is that why it was so swollen this morning at the urine? Are you looking like on purpose? Are you okay, dude? I'm great. I'm doing just fine. He seems, yeah, he's doing good. He's, he's covered head to toe in calamine, but he's good. Everyone smashed the like button for drew for being here. If I got stung by an entire hornet's nest, believe that I would be at home watching like Harry Potter or something. I wouldn't be here. I tell you that. Did you eat the insects? All right. Uh, so we have e -cash coming in as the top gainer, 15 .7, but number two is the coin that DZ bought live on air. It was up 9 .4 % on the news. Although there's a lot of whale activity. I think there's a 350 million volume just from the whales. Uh, 420 million 24 hour volume there stacks is up 7 .1 % ton coin. You know, part of the reason you see it up 50 % it is up 6 .5 % today. Casper up 6 % Solana 5 % coins are moving today and they're moving strong. Like coin up 4 .5 % Bitcoin cash up 4%. Uh, any of these coins, anything popping out Bitcoin is you never see Bitcoin, uh, you know, even this high of the top gainer. So ape coin was going on. It's a reverse DZ indicator today, but we still got to look at the losers and I haven't checked. I promise you I haven't checked. I don't know if any of my coins are going to be in there. I'm hoping not. I'm hoping it's like 0 .2 and then everything else is up to the upside. Uh, no. Oh my God. Can you do the show? I don't even want to do the show anymore. All right. I guys, I promise you. I didn't look, I don't know why roll bits. Very sad. Very sad day keeps on giving. Very sad. All right. Roll bits down top coins down. I did take some profit like two months ago and then I've just been riding in this emotional rollercoaster ever since. Uh, we have Iota and then we go into the low areas. Then it's 1 .3, 1 .2 % below actually infinity. I'm just looking for another one of my coins, but uh, no, it's just, just the second biggest loser of the day. Uh, but then yeah, very shortly after that we are in the green. So three, six, eight, eight coins and then we're flat. One of the eight is a stable coin. So pretty much markets are flat. Really not too much has fallen except for, you know, one of these coins. Of course. Uh, DZ cut his hair. Yeah. It's more aerodynamic when I trade. Uh, we need an inverse DZ fun. Okay. Interesting. Son of a gun. It's a great idea. It's great. I'm kidding. Well, what? The hair thing? No, the inverse DZ. Oh, the inverse DZ fun. Okay.

A huge loss for the Charlotte hornets, lamella ball broke his ankle, while injured himself on a non contact play, he had 18 points on 6 three pointers in Charlotte's one 17 one O 6 weight over Detroit. Jimmy Butler took over in the final minute and a half to help lead Miami to a one O one 99 win at Philadelphia. We got some stocks, got out in transition. In Juan, no matter how we do it, we got one on the road. Here in Philly, and that's all we want. In the NHL, Colorado best at Las Vegas for nothing that's a 6th straight win for the ebbs and right wing mikko rantanen. I think the defensive habits we have been we've been really, really good at those better than we were before, you know, and even if we're not playing that great overall, we're just still defending hard. But, you know, you give them a couple, right? And I think in our game, if we can limit those, we just become a more dangerous team. "Jayson Tatum and Derek white combined for 58% of the Celtics points in a one 27 one 16 victory against the hornets. Tatum delivered 41 points in just 37 minutes. The 8th time he scored at least 40 this season. White set new career highs with 8 three pointers and 33 points in Boston's 5th win in 6 games. I'm gonna start with 6 for 6. And so just every time I shot it and it just felt great and the guys were up supporting me. The Celtics led by 28 in the third quarter and improved to an NBA best 40 and 16. Terry Rozier had a team high 27 points and LaMelo Ball added 24 with ten assists in Charlotte 6th consecutive loss. I'm Dave ferry.

"He's traveling with the team, yeah, Boston and Brooklyn's about a shorter trip as you can get in the league. That's an actual trip. That still was, huh, normally you just leave them home and say, just keep rehab and keep rehabbing. We'll see you in game 5. Maybe for game 5, back in Boston. And so yeah, I'm a 100% there. As long as they think he's ready, you get them out there. I don't know that'll be game three. But maybe it is. I mean, I don't know. It would be absolutely bonkers if he played before Ben Simmons. Simmons isn't so game four. Yeah, he came out and said today, yeah, I don't think, you know, all playing game three. So I don't know. I really don't know. This might be one where on both guys, let's see how game three goes. And then maybe we'll make a decision on game four after that, but I mean, at the very least, I would expect at the very least we'll see Robert Williams in game 5. You know, assuming that there is one in the series. Yep. It does seem like that's the way. Hey, I want to address one quick thing on Celtics nets. This was a comment on our last video where the guy was like, I don't think it's making a bad assumption that if Boston goes up three all that the nets will lose the series. And then he maybe the Celtics lose a pliable blah blah blah. No one in NBA history has ever come back from down three zero in a series. Yeah. It wasn't trying to be crazy there, being a Homer or anything. I'd also don't think the sixers are going to lose now up three O on the raptors. Just out of the warriors, aren't either. It was just a little bit of a weird comment to me. So just wanted to address it here on the show as well. It's not like it's not like they're down to one and you're saying, oh, there's something there or winning this series. In 6 or whatever. If the Celtics win game three, it's old. The series is over. Maybe not over in four, but it's over. Yep. Yeah. All right, we did see a coach get let go today. Maybe a little bit of a surprise. So Charlotte hornets, James barrel. I haven't seen any hornets fans who have been upset about this or surprised, but the national response has been largely surprised that this took place. Because I think a lot of people look at what happened with the hornets and they don't say, oh, clearly this is a coaching issue, but obviously the hornets feel like they can find somebody better suited to take this team to the next level. So James berengo is let.

"Don't think. I mean, you don't he is definitely worth rolling a dice on. I know. Yeah. But my counter to that is this charade. When you're doing this, and again, credit to the Celtics for not having to give away anything to get under the tax, but they have given away things to get to shave money. And so you've now you gave away the Desmond Bain, pick, which bitch you in the ass. And again, it seems just to save $4 million, $4.5 million. And you gave away another pick to shave some salary here in the Kemba Horford deal. Who right now that looks like it's it could be a fairly useful player. You've missed on everyone bear with me. You've missed on Romeo nee Smith grant and Pritchard in the sense of none of them are impact. They're not all bus and you might get some value out of them, but you missed. They're not, they're not making you better. So that's four misses plus bane 5, plus selling a pick for the Cambodia 6. That's 6 blown draft picks. That's frigging crazy to me. And that's the reason the position they're in. But a mentality where you're not always trying to get better at whatever cost, if the only cost is money is going to make you do dumb shit. And it's going to make you miss opportunities. So I think you can look at this trade and say, great. They got under the tax. I guess that's useful. You can also look at it and say, the one playable piece in this was a was a floor spacing shooting guard that went to a different team. Why couldn't you have made the trade for the guard and let the other people cut salary? Why did you take the salary cutting portion of that trade? You know, why couldn't you make a small move that would make you a little bit better? What's wrong with that? Like, it's infuriating. And so that, if you're a self expansion you're like, so you don't care at all if we're a little better. We're watching your team where investors and they need to get a lot better. Yeah, and they need to get a lot better, which means and the problem is you can't get a lot better without a bevy of draft picks or up and coming players on your roster or tradable assets to swing big, which means you're going to have to get better a little bit at a time, which means you.

"I mean, like you guys said, you got to play the players that you have. At the end of the day, this is the roster. You know, what's ne smith's going to do? Cut into some of Romeo's minutes or cut into Richardson's method. At the end of the day, it is what it is. You know, I don't think this was an email issue game, although I don't know why he's not screaming. I'll say this. In the fourth quarter, he should have been screaming in his guys to drive to the hoop. Yeah. You know, draw contact, get filed, do whatever it takes. I will put a little of the blame on him. I can't imagine they're just completely tuning him out. It's like he's just got to get it through these guys heads that they can't just be chucking threes at a 25% clip and expect to come back. You can't hit the home run shot. It's not going to shoot rat again. Should we had a couple late in the game, but it's too little too late by that point. He didn't do enough up to that point to get to get within striking distance. That was my biggest issue, I guess. I don't have a problem with him going to freedom or Langford, I thought, you know, lankford actually gave you more points than he probably has majority of the games he's played this season. So I don't really have much of an issue there. Grant, I don't know, is he starting to fade a bit? I mean, he's not giving you that three point right now. He's getting turning it into he got blown by a few. This is a tough match up for him against Washington and bridges in those sites, but yeah, they did whatever the hell they wanted to be completely honest. A credit to grant. He gives it all up there. I'm never going to question his effort. But again, it's a talent thing. And I'll question a lot of other guys efforts, but I'm not going to question grants, but I just don't know if he's capable of the role that they need him to be in. And I know that they're a little bit undermanned right now, so I get it. But I think overall the effort and intention in this one was great from everybody. You know, I think everybody showed a big forest. They made multiple comebacks throughout the second half. And listen, the shock quality that they were getting without standing. You look back on it. It's just the shooting thing that plagues them isn't going anywhere. And frankly, it's getting worse. It's Tatum, I think starts to burn out a little bit here. You know, if we're stuck in 19 and for just a second, the shot making that you've talked about John. This just simply becoming a bad year for him on the offensive end. What does that stem from? You know, I don't think it shot selection for him like it was in 2019. He's not taking wieners and fadeaways and mid rangers and all this different kind of stuff. He's honestly just taking a ton of open threes, quality looks from deep, shooting a ton of them and getting downhill for the most part and just missing over and over and over again. And it's been the story this year. Guys have bad seasons. It's not like everybody just keeps going up, up, up, up, up, up from 19 on. You know, you do have dips and valleys there. But this is certainly sound to look like a dip from him. And you wonder what's influencing that? Is there any nagging pain as he tired? Is he worn out with the minutes? You know, you're wondering. We know that we know that year over year, Bobby is rim frequency has gone down, okay? So, you know, just being more reliant on the three..

This is going to be a real test for the Lakers this early in the season. I don't really know what the record is, but I'm just hoping that they can manage to pull off some wins and stay afloat. Stay around 500 or slightly above it. I think that's the most optimal situation here. But it'll be good, I think in the long term, though, just as far as growing as a team and facing even more adversity up to this point, because they haven't really been tested by a good team? Outside of the warriors and the obviously. But they haven't been in a close game against a against a good team. Is that what you mean? Yeah, kind of like that. And also like, you know, not at the beginning of the season when they're still figuring things out. You know, now we have a decent sample of what this team is and we're kind of starting to see the outline of what this team could be. Because we've seen them good in stretches now. You know, you didn't have that early in the season. But now it's like, oh, look, the Lakers can actually play well on both Carmelo's flames. They have yeah, and they have lineups that make sense. Sometimes. So, you know, sometimes I thought tonight, you know, I didn't have too many complaints about the lineup, honestly. I'm glad we didn't have to you didn't know pairing and things like that. Sure. That's easy not to see it when one of them gets to us. But still even up to that point. Right. So right. But, you know, that being said, you know, I'm feeling, you know, better than I talked it out and that the Lakers ultimately do get the win. That's what matters at the end here. It's still going to be a rough process. It's going to be a roller coaster. It's not going to surprise me if one day goes poorly and everyone's up in arms again. But you know, that's just the early part of the season. We're going to just have to bear with it. But I don't know if you guys have talked about this on the Saturday show with Jeff, but you know, I wanted to just say before we got off here, is that thanks for everyone that showed up. It was cool to meet a few of you at our watch parties. You know, the Portland game was not great, but it was fun to talk to some of you Lakers basketball connect. So that was cool. So, you know, for everyone that showed up at both locations, it was fun..

"He's going to help because he's going to one he's just a good talented player and is going to be a rotation guy, no matter what. But two, he's going to siphon minutes away from players that people have been complaining about up to this point. So that's always a good thing is addition by subtraction. Yeah, I mean, he's going to get an opportunity because there's a there aren't many guys on the team that can do what he does. In terms of attacking the basket and in terms of just having that kind of length on the defensive end of the floor, the Lakers had pegged him to be their wing defenders, so we'll see if he can do that. And we haven't seen him do it. We haven't seen it. We don't know if he can do it or not. But the Lakers are gonna find out. I think having him back is better than not having him. I've seen fans around the NBA. Fans of other teams kind of roll their eyes and say, what THC doesn't matter. He's not going to make any kind of a difference. Look, he was on a pretty impressive trajectory last season. If he's continued to grow, continue to improve. I think he can make a difference on this team, particularly when we're talking about who he's replacing. If he's taking the minutes of somebody who's struggling for the Lakers, then that's a positive thing, particularly on a veteran team that could use some young legs. So I think him coming back is definitely a good thing for them. I've also got some people asking about LeBron James. I know that Bill oram piece had people a little worried. Where he mentioned Tim D Francesco said one to two months injury. And the Lakers, Matt, we've talked about this. They have this history of underestimating how long players will be injured for. But Marco Nunez said today that it was more like, it depends on the grade of the straight. He didn't specifically talk about LeBron. Right. But he said it's more depending on the grade of the strain, a low grade strain. Like a grade three or whatever, yes, you're going to be like 6 weeks. But a lower grade strain,.

"Play the rest of it out. So it doesn't matter, but he's never going to get benched. That's one. And then two, I think there should be some unwritten rule in NBA transactions or rumors or fan rumblings that if you're going to say trade this player or contractually obligated to finish that and say for what? And make it a legal trade. And it's not and Ben Simmons is not the answer. Yeah, and it's not the answer. So give me a trade that actually looks like it works, or that is legal under NBA rules, and it fits within the salary cap and all that good stuff. And then we can have a conversation about it. But you can't just say trade Russell Westbrook for peanuts. That's not going to happen. Yes, that's absolutely true. But let's talk a little bit about Dwight Howard. Have a comment coming in here. Sure. Dwight Howard seems much more mobile than Deandre. Yes, tonight there were a few moments where Dwight Dwight was called in to actually defend on the perimeter. Like he got called to action in a switch, and he wasn't burned. I mean, he actually held his own out there. Now again, that's not Damian Lillard that's on the perimeter when you're playing against the hornets..

"Thoughts. So why go away from from Bello? I especially like, I guess we can springboard from that into that final play at the end of the fourth quarter. Sure. It does feel like, you know, mellow should be getting some more. Touches, particularly when you score in the ball, had the big three and overtime as well. Why, why do the Lakers seem to go away from what's getting them into a good spot as the fourth quarter starts to drag on there? I think my immediate thought to that question is that most of mellows looks come off catch and shoot opportunities, not so much dribbling or not in isolation situations that the Lakers are really fond of using with LeBron, AD and even Russ to assert an extent. So I don't even necessarily think it's going away for mellow. I think the better way to phrase it is that they don't design a play or look to get him an open jumper. Because they're not going to say, because Carmelo is not the mellow of old where you throw it to him in the mid post, like where AD likes to be and say, go get us a bucket. Really, his job is to space the floor and become a shooting threat and pull defenders away from the paint. So you have those driving lanes or those passing lanes for the guards and Anthony Davis. So I think that's really more of what's going on here. But I think I do agree that if mellows this hot from the field, you have to get something where he gets a touch at least on the possession and he gets to act as a shooting threat because at that point you have a lot of options there because defenses are going to scramble and try to close out to him. Especially when he's shooting what was it 9 of 13 from the field 7 to ten from the three? It's one of those things where I think he does deserve a touch. I don't necessarily know he needs to be the fulcrum or the focal point of the offense, possession, but I do think that he deserves a touch in those situations. Well, let me tell you. Like if it's if we're talking about the play in the fourth quarter, I would rather it be a mellow contested three than an Anthony Davis contestant three. And I don't know if it's not even close. Like if that's the play you're gonna run, that ball needs to be getting into the hands of Carmelo Anthony. If you decide if you're Frank Vogel and you decide, hey, you know what we really need to finish this game is a long jumper..

"And then, well, we know what happened. Flagrant two kicked out of the game, let's start there. Matt, what did you think about that call? Did you agree that that was a flagrant too? No, not at all. I definitely thought it was going to be a flagrant. I mean, at this point, anytime in the NBA, nowadays, where you swipe at a guy's head or above the neck area, it's usually an automatic fragrance at this point. And in this case, I didn't think rondo. And you know, when referees look at flagrant fouls, what they're looking for is intent or the wind up. You know, I thought those parts were missing from a normal flagrant two call. So I definitely thought he was going to get a flagrant. I thought that was not debatable at all. But to see him get called for a flagrant to was very surprising. And it was a big blow for the Lakers. I mean, look, I've got Chris rosalie with a super chat said, unless rondo is on the floor. The offensive is too stagnant with AD on the floor too. Many isos got to get more off ball movement. But part of that was the defense started really scrapping while rondo was on the floor. You had these guys who don't, we don't normally think of as defenders. Guys, like Ellington, and they were really, really getting the job done defensively. And then that was creating opportunities in transition where the hornets were at the at best. They were cross matched. And then AD was sneaking in baseline for some of these lobs. But that was a big moment because we went, oh man, Ronda was the catalyst for the Lakers and then he's out. And he's out of the game and he's done, and they had to go back to Russell Westbrook. And at that point, I started counting. Russell Westbrook had, I think, officially, he had four. I almost credit him with 5 turnovers from then on from the ten ish minute mark when rondo was injected through the end of the fourth quarter. The turnovers for Westbrook really became brutal. I mean, I was a big part of how the hornets were able to catch back up. Yeah, you know, we could talk about this here right now. I think the thing with their Westbrook turnovers that are so frustrating, it's not that he's turning the ball over. How he's turning the ball over. Because, you know, like, you know, every point guard or every ball handler in the NBA has a turn over to every game. No matter how many times you handle the ball, you're never going to be perfect. But I think in Westbrook's particular case, it's just the decision making in times where you can't afford mistakes that are very magnified and fourth quarter and overtime situations like tonight. Because we talked about it in our Lakers nation group chat. There are a couple of plays here and turnovers where we just had zero idea of what Westbrook was thinking on the play. And a lot of them are unforced. So unforced turnovers are particularly the worst because those could be back breaking. The Lakers were up like you said a pretty decent amount with about three or four minutes left. But the turnovers are piling up. Here come the hornets. They start to creep in a little bit before you know what it's four point it's three points. It's two points, whatever. And then now we have a tie game at the end of regulation. So it's just those things that pile up and make it really frustrating for fans to watch, particularly us, too, because let me just back up and say, I was not comfortable at any point throughout this night..

"For everything. Lakers? Lakers get the win in overtime against the hornets, but my goodness. I have a feeling not many Lakers fans are coming out of that game feeling good about where the teams at right now that we're so positive moments for sure. But they certainly made a mess at the end, but do wind up surviving and over time. That's the important part, I guess, right? First and foremost, they got the win. And this team badly needed the victory. So they get that. But we've got a lot else, so we're going to dive into tonight. Matt, the optimist Peralta joining me. How are you doing Matt? I'm holding on by a thread Trevor. I'm glad I have a lot of showtime lager on me because that game was rough. That was. That was. And that's coming from the optimist, too, everybody. That tells you what this game put us through at one point. Matt, I was thinking, here it is. This is it. This is the game where the Lakers just put a team away and we get a nice cruise to a victory and everybody will be happy afterwards and we'll get to talk about how they finally showed effort and they had the energy and they played like they wanted to win and everything worked out. And then no. And then we didn't get that at all and they wind up going to overtime and kind of made a mess of things. To finish there, so we're going to talk about all that we're going to break down exactly what happened why it happened. Obviously getting the wins the important part. "He doesn't anymore and by the way. I love it. I think this rule change has been beneficial to the nba. You don't have that same bullshit. Getting called where guys you know. Pump fake and then jump into opposing defenders. That's not basketball. That's not a basketball play so kudos to the nba for a realizing it addressing. I think making the game move a lot more freely. My surprise team howard is my charlotte hornets. I know buzz fans you hate me. You ratio me all that but the charlotte hornets. Bandwagon is filling up and i am driving it. This team is not only entertaining which we touched on earlier in the show but they are really good right now they have six players averaging in double figures. And that is without terry rozier. As part of the rotation of the moment because his out of the lineup. When they're fully healthy they are explosive in that backward. We know about lamelo ball terry. Rozier has played great and has a couple of seasons in charlotte but miles. Bridges is a straight stud to the first three games. He had thirty plus points. This guy is the real deal. Lamelo start playing uptempo. It's as good team has any in transition this league. I mean i'm not gonna put them raising banner number one down there in charlotte at this point but this is a playoff team and when they get into the playoffs based on some of the improvements. I think we're going to see this season. They're going to be a really tough out. I would not want to play charlotte in the postseason with that group. Now listen we're gonna wear out our hornets love in Week one here but let new. The hornets are blast miles. Bridges is a huge part of that. He's crazy. Athletic is not just in the open court like he. He was just attacking the couple games off watched. He's just attacking guys off the dribble to. He's got a tremendous lifted. The basket his three point shots going. He was just named eastern conference player of the week. So there's that twenty five points eight rebounds two point seven steals through week one and there's nothing like the numbers may not sustain but i mean there's nothing in terms of his overall game. That's not sustainable. We've seen this this for you. Know miles has been kind of coming along like this since he got to the league. So they've got a lot of really nice talented. I mean credit mitch. Cup jack who has quietly done. Because that's what mitch does which is quiet. He's these these the guy you will hear the least from among nba gems. But not that. Long ago mitch was run out of la. And i thought that was probably the end for him in this league and especially you know at his his age. You don't necessarily get other another shot. The hornets tired him. It was looked looked at as a north carolina. Thing michael jordan taking care of somebody in the tar heel family and mitch in his crew have done a really nice job putting this team together. Both drafting and pick it up. Guys gordon hayward and terry rozier all the all the celtics cast-offs boston looking back on it would probably take terrorists. "I've actually defended you even though it was fun watching you get smacked around onto her just roasted. We're gonna put a pin in the hornets conversations. I wanna come back to it a little bit later in the show today. We're gonna talk about the lakers and what to make of their start. Ben simmons situation continues to evolve. The pelicans should do orleans. Start getting nervous about the future of zion williamson plus some surprise teams and players from the opening week. But we've got to begin. Howard with the lakers. Who got the first win of the season on sunday against your memphis grizzlies. And i watched that game. And i don't know what to make of it like good. That the lakers got a win. Good that russell. Westbrook was more of a facilitator than a straight gunnar. Westbrook from the first quarter on was looking to get his big men involves specifically anthony davis and then later dwight howard he was not having that hair-trigger perimeter shot going. He want taking four three pointers. But you know the early stages of that game. I like what i saw from russell. Westbrook he did though. Shoot five for fifteen from the floor. One for four. As i mentioned from three point range so that is still very much a work in progress. Defensively like the lakers have some guys that can defend you early but one my big takeaways from watching memphis was meant this whenever they made the extra pass and got the ball out to a three point shooter were largely open shots. And in a way. I thought the grizzlies kind of lost that game. More than the lakers. Really one. And i'm not trying to be critical of lakers. I'm sure lakers fans will jump all over me for that too. But i mean the lakers needed carmel to go for what twenty eight in that game. How often is that going to happen. I just it was good that they got win and got that out of the way. But i still have a lot of questions about where this lakers team is going. Well yeah and then obviously and it took a late closing. Push to get that win anyway against it's under the grizzlies art a good team. But this is not exactly some accomplished around a contender. They're not a big accomplished playoff team. They're not a super team. Like the lakers are supposed to be able to beat the grizzlies without quite as much effort but again that's nitpicking at this stage of the season. Considering we're the lakers have been over the last week beating the grizzlies. Anyone was going to be an accomplishment of sorts. I mean let's start with carmelo actually because it's like no he's not gonna go for twenty eight every night. But it was a nice throwback performance a timely performance and a really fun too because it put carmelo into What was the ninth. All time leading scorers And so that was kind of cool to see. And i'm still not used to seeing carmelo in the brought together here. These guys who've been friends since before they entered the league who've always wanted to play together here it is it's like it's actually on the human side. It's just kind of fun to see and especially tonight. That carmella was able summoned some of his younger self. But we're not going to see that most of time from him. I don't think the last couple of years wouldn't suggest that they can count on. So how are they going to win. Consistently chris here is can. They played a defensive level that they've had the last couple of years under frank vogel. Will that carry them on the nights that the shots aren't following the same question we've had..

They are chris mannix and howard back all right. Welcome back crossover. Nba podcast kris. Maddox and howard beck one week into this nba season. How are you feeling mr beck Feel pretty good. I feel like. I've still got a shot at the championship. You know the first week didn't go exactly the way i would have liked but You know. I need time. Still chris to get my chemistry right and getting a good rhythm but i think i'll be peaking at the right time. Thank you for that. I think you'll be okay. I however am feeling the whiplash from being ratio by charlotte hornets fans this. I was let me tell you. I was watching the hornets and nets game on sunday in brooklyn and i look. I've been a huge fan of the hornets for a couple of years. Now ever since lamelo got their james borrego was my preseason. Pick to win coach the year. I stand by that. So i tweeted out on sunday late in the game that the hornets have become must see tv for the first time really since ever and the backlash i got from hornets fans from chris. Herring sl zone chris. Airing clapping back at me pointing out that the lonzo morning larry johnson teams. Were fun to watch too. Okay maybe i mis remembering here. Those hornets teams were good. I don't recall them. Necessarily being like find them on was gonna say league pass but there was no league pass back then finding them on the or on sports talk shows things like that. I just. I don't remember that. This hornets team with lamelo ball with miles bridges with their collection of young guys. On the perimeter. Terry rozier this morning team is not only good but fun to watch. But i was getting crushed. Man it's fans. Let me say this. I absolutely endorse people on twitter. Crushing you and there was a part of me that was that was. Frankly gleeful about it. I was laughing my ass watching you get crushed. But i can't believe i'm gonna do this chris. I'm going to defend you because on unbalanced on the fax you're right. We're good horrid steve's by the way quick just point of fact if we're going to get if if basketball nerd twitter is gonna come after you for this. Then i'm going to get even one step nerdier. This team is not that hornets franchise. This team is the one that was the charlotte that bob cats expansion team. That was god awful for most of its existence and then eventually rebranded as the hornets. The actual hornets team is the one operating in new orleans. Now as the pelicans. Because that's the team that was the franchise that had alonzo mourning. And larry johnson and glen. Rice aberra davis and all the other guys if you wanna rhapsodised about the old hornets. That team is in new orleans. There now called the pelicans. I understand we. Now call this charlotte team. The hornets and i don't even like i don't even know who's record books are who's anymore. It's that's how confusing this gotten. This has gotten but i also defend you on this count. Lamelo ball is fun as hell to watch and if he is coming to my city i want to go watch him was it must spell must get ticket to go. Watch larry johnson alonzo mourning. I mean like were they good for but it's not the same as watching passing wizard at his size and his abilities of lamelo ball and plus they've got playmakers all throughout the roster's you noted rosiere when he's playing gordon hayward bridges has been fantastic. Like they're fun in a way that i'm not sure those little hornets teams as good as they were..

"Thirty eight yeah. Yeah know. I would say i'm right there with you and i think it's hard to because the scene is like we talked about there's so much variance and what it could look like this year like if they won thirty games wouldn't be that shocked if they also like if they somehow luck into winning forty or forty one. I would be a little bit surprised. But also like i don't think that's totally out of the park So to me like that feels like one of the bigger ranges that i have for coming into the year and one of the things that that really hinges on one of the last thing i want to talk about is the defense because i think you can go back and look this defense. They finished eighteenth last year. And i still have no idea how sometime you watching them play It's just a lot of a lot of over helping a lot of Screaming close outs. That you don't really need to be Honestly really poor point of attack defense like. I think that's one of the reasons. I was higher on google assigning because he probably steps in automatic news. The best point of attack defender on the team. Like i don't think it's necessarily close either Like i do think there are a lot of guys who can be impactful off the ball necessarily consistent on this team. And i think that's what i look for a lot this year because that could be one of the bigger jumps that we see is like. I'm not expecting it. But like if you see like three or four guys just become more consistent off ball defenders than that drastically changes how i view what the defense community year. Yeah so you mentioned Puerto attack defense. I would actually say last year from last year. Seemed the best film. Was probably cody. Martin but it's debatable. Whether his offense is good enough to just five minutes at this point. I'm not sure if he's rotation player anymore or abrego as a rotation player anymore So i would be happy for him to see that title to To uber or anybody else who was willing to pick it up and improve their level of. Yeah so i think The hornets ran zone by far the most of any team in the nba. Notches vanilla zone. They're running all sorts of exotic Exotic or junk defenses depending on your point of view and you know especially for the first twenty games. I mean it worked but there is no point at which i felt. That was a even a top twenty Defense yeah i didn't didn't view them as that at all so from my perspective..

Like i feel like one of the things that i think will be easily cut out his taking you know. Similar floaters did or Some things that he does. I know part of that is his wiring. How he likes to play. But i don't know man. I'm relieved to see where you're at with that community here to me. "I always go back to when he was in Denver. They ran a lot of the same stuff, would die jokic was out of the game, just using plumlee, because he is a good passer. Heyward, we know is one of the best passing wings. In the game in the roger ball, or I think at their heart, they're both really point guards. And LaMelo Ball is already one of the better pastors in the league. And roger has proven to be a better than average passer. So I do think they can move things out rotation players behind them. This is where it gets a little interesting because they don't really have a pure backup 5. On this on this team. So it's young guys, it's guys like Vernon Carey and Nick Richards and those kind of guys that are more toward the bottom of the roster. But I think what they'll do is they'll make do with PJ Washington, playing some file and he'll slide over and play the 5, one plumb lease out. Maybe Jalen McDaniels get to use there a little bit player that I know they like, but Kelly, you raised probably going to be the top guy off the bench miles bridges, a little bit of overlap in those two guys, maybe. There, but I think you're okay, ish Smith will be the backup and many Celtics fans listening to this know when they play against is Smith. He generally has a pretty good bet to go off for about 25 points. Every time he's just he's just one of those guys that kills the Celtics. And then we'll see if any of the rookies can get in there. I think Kai Jones needs more development time. He looked pretty raw at some early but super athletic. Yeah. I mean, when you've got I was so I thought that was a great landing. But when you've got a guard, like LaMelo Ball, who can do the things he can do, you want athletes all around them that you can just run the floor and it's gonna be so much fun. It might take time, but I loved that pick. The landing spot's perfect. I think Chi Jones is one of those guys who I always were for I usually use Charlotte's example like a Tuesday night in January when you're playing in Charlotte. So let's do a Tuesday night in January when you're playing Oklahoma City. If you're the hornets, you want you could droke eye Jones in there for 20 to 25 minutes and just say just run and play hard. And we'll get you know, we'll get you touches, we'll get you shots at the rim and those kind of things. I really like Jalen McDaniels. I think he really came along strong last year..

Terry had a great run at Louisville still holds the record for most points, scored in a season by a sophomore and had a great run in Boston. It was fun watching him play not only get a lot of minutes for a good team that was in contention, but the Celtics that was a great run they had, and he was a big factor in that. He goes to Charlotte. I think in his first year little underwhelming, they paid him a lot of money and then kind of quietly in his second season with the Hornets this past year, I had a really good year averaged 20 points per game shot 45% from three and I think it didn't get as much attention because the rookie on his team Lamelo ball ended up winning. Uh, the The rookie of the year, But yeah, Terry getting paid in a major way. That's uh,

"Head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. So David Griffin has his next man to lead Zion Williamson. Last year. It was Stan Van Gundy the year before that it was Alvin Gentry. It's just now going to be the third head coach that Zion Williamson is going to have his third year in the league. Now, when you look at Willie Green Clearly has an extensive basketball background was in Philly, the Hornets in New Orleans. Atlanta. Play with the Clippers was with Orlando as a player the last few years, though, because just because you're a former player doesn't mean that you're going to be a great coach. You want to see what experience? Yes. Sometimes guys have a lot of experience. Sometimes guys have no experience. Willie Green was on the Golden State Warriors staff 2016 2019. And Is on the sun staff, too. Currently So this is someone That has been around the league now for a while. And Yeah. I don't know how

Beal, Westbrook Lead Wizards Past Pacers 142-115 for East 8 Seed
"Bar because I was looking forward to taking in the intense India action they win or go home matchup between the Wizards and Pacers. 1 42 1 15 Wizards eliminate the Pacers. By the way, the Pacers beat beat the Hornets by 30 and now the Wizards beat the Pacers when we are trained the sororities and there's a 60 point differential. I don't know Russell Westbrook 18 points. 15 rebounds on Lee eight assists so clearly off his game. That's work, but They will be Theeighties. The Wizards will and they'll take on Philadelphia in the first round. And Philadelphia swept their series with the watch. Is that are they swept their seriously in the regular season? Yeah.

Interview With Super Hornet Pilot, JD Davis AKA Tip
"Jd aka tip. What's going on man. Welcome to the pilot the pilot podcast glad to be here. Yeah we were laughing a little bit four but I'm gonna call you by your costs. I'm tip which I don't know the full story behind it but it's pretty cool to have a call sign have a nickname when i was growing up. I always wanted one. I never joined the military to get one but I'm very envious of all those call signs. But i'm guessing they all have a very unique story by them if they all the call signs and to go back probably will to maybe beyond that And sometimes they're really funny. Other times are active something stupid. He did Other ones have to do with your personality Did you know that it just runs. The whole gamut as i'll call signs come about what's the clearest sign you've ever heard. Oh man that is a tough one. The coolest call sign. I've ever heard outside of tip. Of course right well I i would have to say that. Like the navy versus air force. Call signs of a very different You know a lot of times in the air force you guys will have call signs like razor or like blade or you know blaster or something like that navy. Most the time the call sends the navy. Were just kind of making fun of our buddies. It'll come rodman building You know so in the navy. Coolest call sign i've Yeah i'd have to think about that for a little bit List of one. I know our acronyms or something that you know. They did stupid along the

"Some very very cool Lakers aren't celebrating the 2020 NBA championship. And even if you come in third place, you actually get off a lakersnation.com grab bag filled with a lakersnation.com t-shirt water bottle stickers license plate frame all kinds of cool stuff. So make sure you guys check that out joining me tonight to celebrate the Lakers win over the Hornets a close one wasn't always pretty but they got the job done. It's Ron government from lakersnation.com and Angels. They should. Com Ron. How are you doing, man? Doing great. Yeah, not pretty at all this win. But yeah, I guess you take everything you can get right when you don't have your two stars and Markieff Morris out. And yeah, everyone's outfits. Yeah, so you take what you can get Ron I'm getting questions the chat here saying that like Chris Masters got smaller. Yeah. Yeah. He did. Yeah, that's that's that's me cuz Chris Masters in different forms. Yeah. That's what it is. No, Chris. Chris is taking tonight off. He's going to be joining us Thursday night. Actually, I guess I should just announced now Thursday night when the Lakers take on the Boston Celtics. We are going to be doing a live watch along. We're going to be doing that via hot mic. We're going to have more details on that coming up and I'm really really excited and Chris took join us for that. So that means that you can join Chris and myself perhaps Ron will see if he's able to make that work out and we're going to be watching the game right alongside all of you. So that's going to be a lot of fun and then of course, we'll still have our, New Jersey. Will post game show? So Chris is taking time off, but he's going to be with us all night on Thursday. So it's going to be a lot of fun run. You know what you mentioned it. This game was not pretty but at the end of the day when we step back as frustrating as the loss to the next one's you look big picture. They went four and three on their road trip without LeBron and without Anthony Davis. You've got to feel good about that, right? Yeah, I mean if you can go over find any stretch of games without your two best players, you have to feel good about where you are. Now, I'm sure the Lakers do feel good. They probably feel like they you know, let a few slip away and she could have more wins but I think I think his fans you have to be happy seeing four and three above five hundred on a road trip without LeBron in a d. Yeah. I mean it's it's tremendous tremendous change stuff. And this is exactly what we're talking about. This is what the Lakers need and again not always going to be pretty but at the end of the day they get the win and if they can just continue to tread water and that mean I'm talking about playing 500 basketball game is all you need to do right now..

"Rest of the team. They see him as more of like a rookie this season and so to suddenly ask him to go play thirty minutes a night. That's again probably asking a lot. Some guys are I mean, look the Hornets have to lean on lamelo Ball and I still walk 10 millibars been is a very good player. We're going to talk about him in just a minute. I still think that if THC was a rookie this year and he was on a bad team which again both both would be possible. How do you stayed in school? One more year, he would be about the same age as the guys who are rookies right now and he very well may have ended up a first-round pick on a bad team. I think he would be I don't think he would win it off. I think he would be in the Rookie of the Year conversation because he'd be getting those more opportunities, but I think long-term what we're seeing right now is the best thing for his development. Yeah, and I think it's perfect what you said because I mean right now the Rookie of the Year race is like lamelo ball and then right below him is Anthony Edwards and then there's like this Grand Canyon of nothingness because of the rookie class this year. You know James Wiseman has struggled. It just hasn't been a great rookie class so far with the exception of those to see I feel like tht he could have sung with a bigger role on a worst team. So I've got a few questions in here people are asking about the buyout market and things like that and we're going to get into that stuff later in the show Once we're done talking about this game, but something interesting Andre Drummond, I gotta say guys. So Anthony who does the graphics for us, he makes all of our our thumbnails and things like that for YouTube. He did a jersey swap with Andre Drummond Andre Drummond looks real good in purple and gold. Let me tell you guys that so if if the Bayou does happen, we're going to have a good looking Andre Drummond many of the middle for the Lakers. I think that he would slide right in, New Jersey. Starting center position and we're going to talk a little bit too about the Dennis Schroder news that came out a few hours before tipoff. We'll talk a little bit about that and kind of his extension all that kind of stuff. So stick around that is coming. But Alvin Thomas Junior Zach, how do you feel about Damian Jones, coming in from YouTube or question coming in here from YouTube Damian Jones still starting which my good. I mean, it doesn't get any better for a guy on a 10-day contract right to to be put not only not only get minutes which doesn't usually happen for 10-day contracts but to get a starting job every day and night with the defending Champions. I mean, it does not get better than that for Damian Jones but 12 minutes tonight 242 shooting for boards one block Four Points. He was Judge Judy he's not great, but he wasn't bad either he gave you essentially what you needed from him. I wasn't upset by his performance..
