Mark Meadows says the president remains on the job. Although in isolation at the White House, the president does have mild symptoms and as As we look to try to make sure that not only his health and safety and welfare is good way continue to look at that for all of the American people. The president tested positive hours after attending a fundraiser, meet and greet at his Bedminster Golf Club yesterday afternoon, an indoor event that went on even though the White House knew the president had been exposed to a person who was positive for covert 19. Aid Hope Hicks and Governor Murphy with a message to the 100 or so who attended that event with the president. So the key is really sequencing self quarantine. Everybody take yourself off the field. Wait Judy, five or seven days, probably in that range and get tested. Even then, if you test negative, you really have to stay off the field for the full 14 days and probably would want to get tested again at the end of that period. Although off the campaign trail, the White House insists the president is still doing well and keeping busy. What

Testing Positive: Coronavirus Contact Tracing at the White House
"Have some breaking news this morning just. President trump and first lady melania trump testing positive for the corona virus the president tweeting just before one am that he and the first lady will begin their quarantine and recovery process. Immediately, we got a lot more on the next steps for the White House and testing others who may have been exposed from Dr Scott Gottlieb. But before we do that, I want to get straight to image Jabar's. In Washington, who has been working this story all night and has the latest for us. Amen. This news began to unfold last night with a report that hope Hicks. One of the president's closest aides on his campaign had tested positive for the coronavirus. Then there was a period of time where we did not know what the president status was but hope. is obviously a close personal. Contact with the president on a regular basis, and in fact, she's been in close personal contact with a number of senior administration officials over just over the past week traveling with him out to venues into the presidential debate take a look at this list that NBC News is put together of all of the people inside the White House who had been in contact with hope. Hicks just this week on this travel more than twenty officials here who've been seen with hope. Hicks. Not necessarily always wearing a mask touching some of the same handles as they go up the stairs to air, Force One obviously on. The plane moving around all of those people will now have to be contact traced and tested, and you can imagine the scale of the effort that is unfolding inside the White House. This morning as they try to figure out who has been exposed, who has covid where this is all going to land meanwhile, the president defending himself earlier in the week remember that debate on Tuesday, the president was asked about his decision to continue holding large in-person rallies a lot of these rallies where the the people in attendance did not wear masks. The president said he simply had to continue on the campaign trail. Here's that moment. In any case why you holding the big rallies y you not? For her because people want to hear what I have to say well so far we have had no problem whatsoever it's outside that's a big difference according to the experts we do them outside. We have tremendous crowds as you see, I mean every and literally in twenty four hours notice and Joe does the circles and has three people someplace. And now we're getting international reaction rolling in guys as well. Take a look at this tweet. This is from who sesion. Here's the editor of Global Times in China and viewed as somebody who is very close with the Chinese government in Beijing. Often tweets reflections of their views on the world. He is tweeting this morning president trump and the first lady have paid the price. For his gamble to play down the covid nineteen, the news shows the severity of the US is pandemic situation. It will impose a negative impact on the image of trump and the US and may also negatively affect his reelection. So many unanswered questions here guys in terms of the campaign, the stimulus, the battle for the supreme. Court. All of those ongoing right now clearly, campaigning activities will not. Be Able to continue on the president's side as normal for some weeks. Now, no word yet from the Biden campaign about what their plans are in terms of the stimulus it's sort of an unknown at this point how this will affect those negotiations which are ongoing as we speak, and then in terms of the Supreme Court, it's likely that Congress will still continue to push forward but. Everybody involved in that process will also have to be contact traced and tested as well to make sure that anyone who has come in contact with the president over the past week including amy, Coney Barrett herself. The president's nominee for the Supreme Court gets a negative test before moving forward guy. So a lot of moving parts of this morning aiming before you go, let's just walk through. The contact tracing and what the circle might look like in terms of who has been in contact with the president. Obviously, the Biden campaign given the debate You mentioned the Supreme Court nominee how big a circle are we talking about here? Well, it's been a limited circle in recent months. They have made efforts to keep the president out of contact with as many people as possible but. It's still you know dozens of people who come in contact with the president on on a regular basis you know there's a hundred people are more flying on Air Force One at any given time including all the staff aides, military folks and everybody else involved in that process, and we've seen the president on Air Force One, a couple of times just this week and hope Hicks we know. was on Air Force One without a mask this week as well. So it's a large number of people I would imagine there are hundreds of people here who are going to be implicated. There's a lot of detail here to be gone through and you can imagine health officials the secret service capital police a whole range of other authorities in Washington are scrambling aggressively this morning to figure. Out what the damages and to contain it as best as possible,
"hope hicks" Discussed on WJR 760
"Alright we understand that we have a special announcement being made in Washington by the White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. Because of the positive Corona tests by President Trump and wife Melania. We want to go to Mark Meadows right now and listen to what he has to say. Let's check in on the task at hand. What? What day and time which Just clues of what day in time. Did you find out that hope picks and tested positive did just sit on it until after the president went out to his fundraiser. Uh, actually, as as we look at this, I'm not going to get into the tic tac. I can tell you in terms of hope, Hope Hicks. We discovered that right? As the Marine one was taking off yesterday, we actually pulled pulled some of the people that have been traveling in close contact. The reason why it was reported out just, frankly, is that we had already started the contact tracing just prior to that. Event. A cz you know last night, even in in the early hours of this morning, the minute we got a confirmatory tests on the president, we felt like it was important to get the news out there at that time, And so that's why we sent out the tweet. Late late or actually early this morning. Regularly President staff members Why aren't you wearing a mask? Yeah, Eso. I've obviously been tested. We're hopefully more than 6 ft away. And if if there's any any concern there From a guidance standpoint, we have protocols in place and we you know when, when, when? When? Early On. Early on. When we first started to tackle the covert 19 battle, we actually did two different things. And in the White House. Ah, number of continuous sees as we looked at Not only additional testing, but it's certainly mitigating the risk for social distance seas in private meetings and and the like, But I think it goes to the broader question is is even with a lot of the mitigating factors, Jim Uh what? You what you have is a virus that is contagious, that that certainly Continues to be regardless of whatever protocol we have that that it has the ability to affect everybody is you know the president. We keep a pretty wide circle. All of you that have interacted with him know that And so even with that wide circle around the President way, find that He's having to deal with this. Like so many millions of other Americans and people around the world have had to do I can tell you. I can't tell you that. What we're doing is focusing on the therapeutics. The vaccines continuing to do that, And that doesn't change really quickly. The officials who were on the flight with president on Wednesday, including questioner, Scavino, I think Stephen Miller was there, They hope Words have been way we've tested all of our core staff. And I can tell you that, uh, Mr Mr Kushner, Mr. Scavino, myself a number of of us have been tested and come back with negative results. And yet a TTE the same time I fully expect That as this virus continues to go on other people in the White House will certainly have Ah positive test result and we've got the mitigation plan in place to make sure that the government not only continues, Tio To move forward. But the work of the American people continues to work for a good move forward. And so even is is recent is this morning at a little after eight o'clock, the president was giving me a number of things to make sure that I get done, and I'm sure that I will actually have those Do outs have to be back to him later today I've got got around. I'm not gonna ask s. Oh, I wanted to come out and give an update to all of you is so that show the courtesy of giving an update will have future updates. I'll be glad to do that. But any other specifics at this point would be Chief.
US president has mild Coronavirus symptoms
"Has repeatedly tried to convince Americans that the worst of the pandemic is behind us. The president himself and the first lady have now tested positive for the Corona virus. They're staying at the White House with an election on Ly a month away to talk about how this all unfolded overnight and where we stand at this point. We have NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith with a site. Um, Good morning. I guess the first question how the president first lady doing Do we know the White House position? Put out a memo saying they are both well at this time, and that he and others on the medical team will maintain a vigilant watch, he added. Quote. Rest, rest assured, I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption. And that is important because that means vice president Pence doesn't have to step in at this point. A spokesman tells us that both the vice president and second lady Karen Pence were tested this morning and were negative. As for the president and the first lady, they are staying at home at the White House, and an official tells me that the president was in good spirits and that the doctor is optimistic. Corona virus. So is an unpredictable disease. For some people, it can be terrible and deadly. For others. There are no symptoms at all. And we have no way of knowing how it will affect the first lady or president Trump. But at 74 years old, he is in a high risk group and certainly not out of the woods. I mean, as we've seen, people can develop symptoms, you know, days after getting a positive test, so we'll have to be watching. Of course, do it. You have any idea what happened here? I mean, how how the president First lady might have been exposed to a virus. We don't know the chain there. But we did learn last night that a close aide to the President hope Hicks had tested positive. She has been traveling with the president a lot, including flying with him on Air Force one to his campaign rally in Minnesota on Wednesday at around 9 30. Last night, Trump called into Sean Hannity show on Fox News and said that he had been tested and was awaiting results. Then About 1 A.m. president Trump tweeted that he and the first lady had gotten those results and that they both tested positive. A White House official tells me that they're working to figure out how to keep conducting the business of the presidency, with the president having to stay at home. And the person said that the president is going to want to be engaged. He told me quote. He's not one to sit still, that is something we know. I mean, he has not been sitting. Still, he has been out on the campaign trail very active and as many people have noted at rallies So many of them outdoors airplane hangars, But you know a lot of people without mass. It's going to lead a lot of people to wonder. Was he taking enough precautions? Was the White House doing enough to prevent this? President? Trump has been taking risks every single day. People who are in his close proximity do get tested regularly. He is tested regularly. But the White House leaned heavily on those tests and arguably let their guard down. Trump has been holding as you say these big rallies a couple of them indoors. Just yesterday, he held a fundraiser at his Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey. And you know Trump and those around him don't regularly wear masks in public or in private at the White House or on Air Force One and it Tuesday night's debate. President Trump even mocked his opponent, Joe Biden, for his frequent mask wearing one needed. I wear mess, OK, let me ask. I don't have. I don't wear mess like him. Every time you see him, he's got a mess. He could be speaking. 200 ft away from him. He shows up with the biggest mask I've ever seen, and we have now heard from Joe Biden. He sent a tweet, saying that he and his wife, Jill, are praying for the health and safety of the president and his family and hoping for a swift recovery. We don't know. Yet if Biden's campaign will be changing anything as a result of this, it's just stunning to think about this moment. We have a presidential election four weeks away. We're still in the middle of a pandemic and now the president of the United States in the midst of running for re election. Has tested positive for a very dangerous virus. I mean, what does this totally changed The entire last phases campaign? Yes, absolutely. President. Trump has staked his reelection on the idea that the worst of the pandemic is behind us. For months, He has created a bubble around himself where there was this image that cove. It wasn't a concern that everything was back to normal. The chairs were close together. There were no masks. But this development completely undermines that. I mean, the president of the United States has the virus. This is going to bring the danger home to people and underscores That anyone can get it even if you're the leader of the free world. All right. NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith, We're going to keep following this story, obviously very closely as the hours and days. Go on. Thank you. So much for sharing reporting town.
Get well soon: World leaders send best wishes to Trump and first lady
"The first lady of testing positive for the Corona virus, along with the one of their coast AIDS, Hope, Hicks. Um maybe you don't know who brought it to them could be her. It could be anything but They have so far. No bad. The symptoms we've seen so far, but it's it's early in the game, so we'll keep an eye on the situation for you. The vice president has has tested negative. He just got tested, too. So He's apparently all right for now, and you know it could be. It could be a dangerous situation. So we're just going to keep you posted on it as we were here, right? Yeah. On Candice's, Ah, Yeah, it could have its going to have an impact on the markets today. Already down three or 400 points, the down and futures down, so that will happen is we knew that would happen and World leaders, sending their their best wishes to the Trump said. Everything will come out right course he's not going. But to talk about quarantining at the White House is already there in the kind of a bubble in that, you know? Yeah, any president First lady, you're not people who go to the Safeway or the Dillon's store every day. There's already a little bit of built in social distancing, and I don't know whether the trumps or people who dine out restaurants in Washington if they get out and do that kind of thing. If they have. I'm hoping in Washington D C the the restaurant here is cautious as we are here. The restaurants. He tried to do a really good job on that, But obviously they're not gonna be around the vice president. They're going to be on their own bubble in there. Yeah. It's going to be a little crazy from now the is going to have an impact on on the presidential race in that he physically the president will not physically be able out there. Ah, making appearances. Right? Right. Still, That's why we have TV and the Internet and radio and things like that he'll have his contact with. Yeah. Depending on how well he stays. If he stays in good health, you'll be able to comment everyday on things. So sure. There you go. Should be easy enough. Yeah, we're hoping for the best. Donald Trump and Melania Trump both test positive for COVID-19
"The October surprise is a cherished part of US presidential election mythology the late breaking game changer with engineer contrivance or priests of. Two Thousand and twenty s octo surprise seems to have come early. President, DONALD TRUMP and first lady melania trump have both tested positive for covid nineteen and will now be self isolating. It is just thirty two days until the presidential election joining me with more on this Dr Chris Smith Monocle two, thousand, four, hundred and science correspondent and Scott Lucas professor of US Politics University of Birmingham Chris First of all would it possibly actually have been more of an October surprise if none of the key figures in this election came down with the illness I think. So I'm pretty surprised actually the. They've oh, taken. So long to catch it if you wind your mind back to SORTA March April time, Prince Charles was one of the first people note in the UK when the first high profile people who meet a lot of people to catch it. Then thankfully recover on therefore slightly surprised that Donald Trump and other people who are on the presidential campaign trail have encountered court and demonstrates this before maybe they have maybe that time they didn't know maybe this time they do maybe this time they're saying something about it. Scott Lucas. DC will just right now be waking up to this news and trying to understand how it is going to affect the last month of campaigning What do you think obviously debates again to have to be remote if they going to be held at old trump won't be able to hold anymore rallies and presumably the bulletin team will now all have to be tested and may have to isolate as will. Probably, what Chris said, we're shocked that this had come out before that the by campaign team probably had gained for this type of possibility. They will have been testing regularly, and of course, Joe Biden is in the middle of a train stopped tour of key swing states such as Ohio, and Pennsylvania. So they'll go ahead as much as you can be normal in the next month while offering hopes for the recovery of Donald Trump along as well as trump's close aide. Hope Hicks. I think it's the trump campaign that'll be in disarray today trying to figure out what to do Let me just say for a couple reasons why I? As we've noted trump no longer has his primary outlet of campaign rallies, large gatherings without mass without social distancing where he just rambled for sixty ninety minutes and try to grab headlines. Secondly, a, you're in a position where corona virus goes back to being the number one issue in the campaign and the trump campaign hoping to bury it or push it to the side. Let's talk about Supreme Court. Let's talk about trump's cultural war against that extremist anarchist. Let's not talk about two, hundred, ten, thousand Americans who are dead closing seven and a half million cases, and then thirdly, this actually I think undermines disinformation the trump campaign had put out about Joe Biden being physically mentally unfit indeed remember. If you remember, he goes back that far enough that they mopped Biden for supposedly being in the basement for observing coronavirus restrictions and not coming out and campaigning publicly before the start of June. It looks Joe Biden's white wise right. Now while the questions over judgment physical health, we'll be about Donald trump and four years ago. Of course, President Trump mocked, Hillary Clinton for becoming ill with what looked like pneumonia during the campaign, Chris. Is it possible that this might make a difference, one way or the other to how seriously Americans take this I mean, might hopefully make it clear to trump's base that this virus is real and it is dangerous but alternatively should trump not appear to too badly affected and should he recover quickly that might rather dangerously amplify his narrative that it's not that big a deal Martin did it could go either way couldn't it and indeed? He has the odds in his favor even in a person's eighties that chance of making a recovery in other words not succumbing to grove infection as well north of ninety percent. So it's not to give him that just because someone who is his age mid seventies who has other pre existing health conditions? He he does have obesity they will increase risk. It's not a given though that he'll come off worse for this he make. A complete recovery probably most people do and the other thing to bear in mind is, is this genuinely the first time? He's had it because it may well be he has become reinfected and this time perhaps I'm speculating wildly here and I might be completely wipe them up but wouldn't it be wonderful if he ends up I've got this of course it but then bounces back incredibly fast and demonstrates how powerful he really is. you can see that working well for him. You can also see this for the reason, Scott that you mentioned it playing badly for him in that it does amplify covid nineteen as an issue in the in the minds of most voters but. What are the actual practical considerations here? I. Mean You mentioned the Supreme, court nomination to fill that vacancy left by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. CanNot actually go ahead and I guess the big question is there any doubt whatsoever about the actual election at this point? Assuming that. Kony Barrett did not get corona virus donald trump when she made a public appearance alongside him six days ago. Yeah. This can go ahead because you're talking about the hearings that take place. In the Senate. which will be socially distanced I'm sure. So Mitch McConnell push that through the problem for the trump campaign, they can no longer make that the headline event and try to galvanize their supporters around given these circumstances. Secondly, on the delay of the election is extremely difficult to delay the election you have to amend. Through Congress an act from eighteen forty, five, i. think the practicalities of that are very, very difficult and I think it's a huge gamble for Republican senators, some of whom are facing difficult reelection battles to do that because the Democrats will say, they're just trying to use a pretext to push this this back because remember, we've been facing a donald trump who has been saying if I don't like the election result, I don't have to observant I can stay in the White House that I think undercuts the effort that could be made to say look there's A legitimate reason given the pandemic to push the date back. Scott. Lucas Christmas thank you both very much for joining

No question our I echo what you said that our thoughts and our prayers and our hearts are with the trump family right now with hope Hicks and anyone in the White House because we don't know how far this ripples out yet will be tasked obviously across the White House to see if anyone else has this. Because as you said, the president held his rally hosts had to be quarantined on the flight home from Minnesota yesterday. He was at a debate with Joe Biden obviously, they were far apart on Tuesday night Kaley mcenaney, the White House press secretary was with hope picks a great deal this week she gave a briefing yesterday without a mask on in that room. When you stop and look at all the people who may have come in contact with where the source of this is including by the way the Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett who's been spending a lot of time with White House handlers and she's been shepherded around Capitol Hill to meet with senators ahead of her confirmation hearing so. This is this is a serious as it gets especially when you consider that Donald Trump is seventy, four year old man we know more than eighty percent of the deaths in this country have come from people sixty five and older. So we're certainly sending our best to the

"Aren't I might even say from when he came down that gold escalator and called Mexicans rapist first things first I wanted to thank you me and Oliver colleagues who risk their lives every day to bring us the news from the White House knowing that the president and his staff don't follow a CDC guidelines. The president has always mocked mask bearing lawrence if you remember, you know all the way through. March, he was saying masks part needed. We heard him at the debate essentially chastising a Joe Biden for wearing a mask making a joke. We've seen people all over Florida and states across the country refusing to wear masks getting arrested, getting thrown out of grocery stores and sporting events because they would not comply, and so we have a real difference in opinion but here's the thing you know as senator. Moynihan's that we're all entitled to our own opinions, but we're not entitled to our own facts. Fact of the matter is we must wear a mask to protect ourselves for a virus that we're still trying to figure out the fact that the president refuses to lead the nation in a responsible behavior is just as you say Lawrence, it's completely. Just. Reckless. It's irresponsible and it's the type of a lack of leadership that sadly so many millions of Americans have grown accustomed to over these past few years. You may we saw today the White House press secretary of following the president's lead and refusing. To condemn, White Supremacists Donald Trump continue to refuse to do that. It is not difficult to link this to the refusal to wear masks. It is highly irresponsible responsible as the mildest word you can use. For Donald Trump and his staff coddling racist antisemites in this country. It was a remarkable scene at the White House today when the White House press secretary was was posed the question over and over again will will you condemn white supremacists and she simply would not do that and part of what she was doing. There was really following the lead of president trump who at that moment had not condemned white supremacists in the way that was just a declared a statement that being said, the president took tonight a full two days after he refused to condemn. That on the debate stage to then just on Fox News a few minutes ago say I condemn White Supremacist I condemn the KKK I commend the proud boys that's two days after the president refused to do that on a debate stage and he's doing that in front of a much smaller audience because of course, they were people that were tuned into the debate stage that we're waiting for the president to set an example and he just didn't take the time to do that. You See. Is the president responding to the pressure and the pushback he's getting and I should say the pushback from Republicans you saw Republicans in different states as well as in the US capital saying we're not quite sure what's going on here. Maybe his he misspoke maybe he will clarify the president now are saying he's clarifying it, but I can already tell you on twitter and on some of the exchanges I'm already having their a lot of people are saying this is too little too late it. Looks like you were forced into this. This reminds me of when the president finally acknowledged that Barack Obama former president Barack Obama was born in America it took months for him to be asked that question to be end to pose that question and finally he said, yes, I believe that he was born in America and ran off didn't take any questions about it. So this is the president reacting to really what shouldn't have been pushed back to to answer a very simple question about supremacy. And Christina the the president's claiming to not know anything about the proud boys or what they represent is a flawless. His, claiming for years ago that he did not know who David Duke was and he did not know that David Duke was a Ku clan leader when he was kind of welcoming David Duke support for his candidacy. Right at, I've never heard of the Easter Bunny Lawrence. That's absolutely absurd. We know that the president you know welcomes and sidled white supremacy has been doing that for most of his tenure in the white. House and so the fact is Jimmy said too little too late but he what he's probably feeling the pressure of it's not just the president at the top of the. Ticket, on the ballot across the country, we've got US senators. We've got governors. We've got all four, hundred, thirty, five members of the House on the ballot if a lot of Republicans who were in the fight for their lives and their many Republican voters who just aren't comfortable now pulling a lever for someone who who is unclear as to whether or not he supports white supremacy. Professor Christina greer thank you very much for joining us tonight you Michel Cinder. Thank you and you may please stay as safe as you can covering that trump White House. I will do that. My Mom will appreciate it. Thank you. And when we come back Donald Trump's former national security adviser. H, r McMaster said flat out today that Donald Trump is aiding and abetting Vladimir Putin. "I wish it would have said hicks called cohen right sixteen seconds into the call trump joined the call and the call continued for over four minutes. That's then supported by a footnote which explains you know there was a little minus like how they conference in donald trump soho picks calls michael cohen says get donald trump on the phone by the way this answers serve so even if even if you take her statements at face value this answers the point you were making earlier of well. Maybe she was just thinking. Trump was this kind of got the very first thing she does is she calls cohen and says get trump on the phone and trump's on the phone and they talk for four minutes. They're based on the records. That's ten seconds of is there yes and then just silence. Really i'm looking for barking noises all right. I would not want heather loveridge to have to transcribe so so next based on our call records. This was the first call cohen had received or made to hicks in at least multiple weeks <hes> and in fact cohen and trump spoke about once a month prior to the state specifically privatised call on october eighth conan trumpet spokane once in may once in in june once in july zero times in august and twice in september right so again. That's really really important for understanding the background to write like it's it's not as though michael cohen had you know s._n._l. Sketches right where ben stiller can call up on in those are so great <hes> but they don't talk everyday they talk once a month and he talks to hicks never right so that's a pretty big coincidence but let's keep going through the affidavit ten minutes after the call ended hickson cohen spoke again for about two minutes k. so get trump on the line. Is there p._t._i. Yeah there is also <hes> we've got we've we've got a silent stormy daniels here. Don't we yeah do whatever you can okay <hes>. I'm getting off now. Then hickson cohen are what are we going to do about this right next paragraph at seven thirty nine p._m. Immediately after after the second call with hicks ended cohen called pecker president of american media and they connected for thirty seconds four minutes later cohen called pecker occur again and they spoke for more than a minute three minutes after ending his call with pecker cohen received a call from dylan howard as noted above the chief content officer of a._m. I and they spoke for a minute. According to toll records it does not appear cohen howard spoke regularly prior october eighth twenty sixteen it had been over a month since called each other okay then as soon as that ends eight minutes later seven fifty six p._m. Cohen calls hicks and they talk for two minutes at the same time. This call ended cohen receives a call from from pecker. They spoke for two minutes at eight. Oh three p._m. Three minutes after ending his co. Becker cohen calls trump and they speak for eight minutes so we can just stop there. There's a little little bit more that i that i want to get through but it is not again. Remember when you were talking about proving perjury right you were talking about out proving the existence of a fact that exists in someone's head so you're always going about this through circumstantial circumstantial evidence. Is it possible that hicks called to talk about the russian p tape and then as soon as they were done he was like oh yeah upgrade. Get a go now. I'm gonna talk to david pecker. I'm on a totally unrelated matter then. I'm going to hang up. Call you again talk. Do you again then. I'm going to hang up call pecker again then. I'm going to hang up then. Packers associates going to call me then. We're gonna talk again. I i guess right. You're free to draw that in the purchase talking about the latest season of game of thrones that was they had all just watched it and they called each other at that time further evidence that michael cohen is not dealing with the p tape or t._m._z. or anybody else right because again remember this timeline also consumes. All of michael cohen's phone time right. These are the people that he's talking to on on the evening of october eighth so eight thirty nine and eight fifty seven p._m..

He put together a briefing paper thirty one page briefing paper <hes> for the american constitution society <hes> that was the group that cosponsored my debate with justin walker in louisville louisville <hes> they are attempting to sort of carve out a space as a counterweight to the federalist society that briefing paper is entitled a a right wing route. What the roberts five decisions tell us about the integrity of today's supreme court and what he does is go through his methodology is to look through the past twelve years of supreme court decisions right beginning with at all on the roberts court so from two thousand five through the end of the twenty seventeen twenty eighteen term so it it does not count this last supreme court's terms decisions <hes> which were as we've covered on the show <hes> egregious the the top line finding that <hes> that senator white house documents is why don't why throw this way do you have if if i were to tell tell you <hes> there were several hundred decisions right two hundred twelve to be precise five four decisions decisions over that time period of those two hundred twelve there are lots of different right and this is one of the difficulties in methodology ethanol g right is that you know you'll sometimes see oddball alignments on cases of no political significance and so you know politico will rush forward to be like ruth bader ginsburg sides with brad kavanagh so of those two hundred twelve five four decisions seventy seventy eight of them. <hes> were split five four where a and again the membership has changed over the years <hes> but none of the but it's always been a a five four or five three split right <hes> none of the liberal justices joined with the conservative block right. That's what and sheldon whitehouse calls them seven seventy eight of those cases of those seventy eight cases. How many do you think had clear political implications seventy eight yeah seventy-three so growth so there yeah so there are a handful of them in those seventy three cases which white house divides into four categories one controlling the political process to benefit conservative candidates to protecting corporations nations from liability and letting polluters pollute three restricting civil rights and rolling back anti-discrimination laws and four advancing advancing a far right social agenda right that is i think pretty narrow right like you could you could certainly argue other things have political affiliations agents but those are things that the average person would look at it and go yeah okay. We're right like the these are unquestionably political cases that that <hes> you know what the democratic result is and what the republican result is right. You know what the left wreck widow. When it's gay marriage you know who's was on what side for for pro gay marriage who's anti-gay marriage right. Who's pro <hes> you know..

"Last episode it turns out that reasonableness inquiry is is designed to say would a hypothetical reasonable person in the the exact same circumstances interpret this as a threat right and so you you could say and it's allowed to be calibrated right even as finely as you know what a hypothetical reasonable two hundred sixty five pound bodybuilder interpret that right. It's not not it's not as though you have to zero out all the arbitrary factors like John Rawls veil of ignorance or something like that it is <hes> just given all of the circumstances would a reasonable person be intimidated year and so I think that would make all the difference in the world if it were in the mafia context right so I guess what you're you're calling our patrons unreasonable. That's interesting move there I for one patrons and think perfectly reasonable yeah now okay all right well. We've gone through but I will say in terms of the resolution <hes> look. I'm a man of integrity. If the book had been wrong in the answer I would demand the question back but since it was just the explanation that was wrong. I got the answer wrong. I'll take my loss. I didn't get proudly take. I got that one wrong. That's of all the things I love about. You and it's a huge list. Your integrity. I think is your integrity specifically in taking meaningless additions yeah exactly you would never call out south east as a clue in a game meanings of here that he cheater all inside jokes okay right yeah no. I'll take it but but like if we ever get one where the card says Mooks <hes> you know like that's that doesn't fly like if if you've done this and be like well the book is wrongly answer and so you you missed it Nano if the book is wrong books wrong but it's just in how they explained it that they a I think were were. Maybe a little misleading so all right. I got it wrong. Opening arguments is brought to you by net sweet and let me tell you folks. Net Suite is after my own heart right now. They probably don't know that I used to be an accountant but <hes> I can't wait for this. If you don't know your numbers you don't know your business but the problem growing businesses have that keeps them from knowing their numbers is there hodgepodge of business systems high Greece so hard with us. Yeah I've talked to so many small business owners where you ask them any basic questions about inventory whatever it might be and they seemingly have no idea what their actual numbers are what their actual profits are what their actual unit costs are or anything like that. I'm very excited to talk about nets oftentimes people have one system for accounting another for sales and another for inventory and so on or by the way just don't have any one or two of those things this is inefficient efficient. It costs too much time too many resources and it hurts the bottom line. This is where net sweet comes in net suite.

We don't plan this stuff <hes> but we got that we've got the live show to talk about <hes> first up. I want to say if you are not on Patriot dot com slash law hop on there because we just did a lot of movies. That was one of our probably our favourite ever that we've done. It was just so much we had a movie that was like built in the lab for a lot of movies. It's called suspect from nineteen eighty-seven with share and what's his name I blank on the other Guy Dennis Dennis Quaid Frazier Staff Completely Silent Liam Niessen does WanNa Liam Niessen does best which is beat people up for no reason reason he really is true to true to his word on that at at Fat Tony as the Hotshot God. "We have several major stores, incites shell. So thank you for joining us. We just received a transcript of hope Hicks congressional testimony, the first Trump bay to testify ever in this obstruction probe. And while she does duck many questions. She also talks collusion, so we're going to get to that. Meanwhile in a case that Bob Muller referred tonight. I have it right here, the DOJ is actually exploring jailing, Roger stone. Remember him for allegedly violating his gag order. This is brand new. This is a Muller referral and it's interesting because it shows Trump's DOJ leadership have been intervening to help Trump advisor, Paul Manafort, avoid prison in New York. The rank and file prosecutors who filed this just now they are trying to put a different Trump advisor stone in prison. So we have that later in the hour, there, also, I should note, and you may have heard because it was just being discussed, of course, on MSNBC in the last hour, breaking news. These escalating tensions amidst reports that Iran shot down a US drone. That's obviously an important international story. We have a report on it later on the beat tonight. So there's a lot going on. But we begin with the transcript from the hope Hicks testimony chairman, Jerry Nadler points to one hundred and fifty five separate questions that he says, she just defied just declined to answer, many circle these obstruction issues and potential criminal evidence against President Trump. Like, what did she know about why he fired James Komi and why interfere in the prosecution of former aide Michael Flynn and things on the hill are clearly heated about all this. Now, there is invoking explaining the Miller report to this day while there are others accusing the Democrats of wishing Donald Trump was a foreign agent. President's willingness to again. Welcome prohibited. Foreign assistance is indeed, shocking. The president may be willing to discard the lessons of the mullahs report. We are not Democrats are not only disappointed. They're angry angry. The president was not a Russian. I said it seems imagine disliking, a president so much that you wish he were foreign agent. Meanwhile we should note these calls for impeachment in the house are growing bit since last night. There are former lawmakers have joined this list of house members who back impeachment or some sort of impeachment pro one of them congressman Sean cast, and appearing on morning, Joe saying that he actually regrets even having to take this position. Should there be an impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump? So with great regret the answer's yes, this wasn't why I came, but the daily assaults on the constitution what we know Russia did and the failure of, of, of the president to allow us to do. Our job has I think made this assessing. As mentioned, this number of lawmakers in this impeachment caucus has now risen to all the way to seventy one want to get right to it with my Wiley, former council, the mayor of New York City civil prosecutor, this other district Paul Butler, a former federal prosecutors. Well, and Julian Epstein, former chief democratic council to House Judiciary committee, and well-versed in these kind of probes. Welcome to each of you a Paul, what do you take from hope Hicks? And a lot of the non-answers, eight hours a hundred and fifty times she said, I'm not going to answer that question. This extraordinarily the broad claim of absolute immunity, which doesn't exist in the law. It's her decision. She could have said my responsibility is not to Donald Trump. It's to the American people and to the rule of law. And so I'm going to answer your questions..

"Hope Hicks, the former White House communications director and a close advisor to President Trump was behind closed doors today for the House Judiciary committee. You didn't answer. Reporter's questions as she made her way into the committee room. And it's unclear if hope Hicks will answer all the questions behind closed doors yesterday, the White House into letter the judiciary committee, notifying them that President Trump had directed her to not testify about events related to her time serving as a senior advisor in the White House. The chairman responded that he rejects that assertion, but Democrats still want to hear from her in her role as White House communications director related to the president's behavior during the campaign and his first year in office. She was one of the most frequently mentioned names in the Miller report. Serena Marshall, ABC news. Washington Hicks exited that judiciary hearing just after twelve noon. "They wanna learn more about what secretary Ross and the attorney general know about this. Inclusion of the citizenship question, was it appropriate in terms of how the United States figures out who's part of its population and the attorney general and secretary of commerce for now being moving to be held in contempt of the House Democrats on this issue just that we quickly, Brian and the other front of the investigation. A lot of my sources, who are close the department of Justice, say they trust the to follow through with the report, but they worry about the attorney general hovering on the side with his own conclusions in his own memo in the same way, he handled the mullahs report, and they really would prefer those in the law enforcement community that we talked to, to let the I g play out on his own Ashley Parker how. Consequential will the hope Hicks appearance be we note, she has already spoken to a Senate committee. She has already been interviewed by Muller at all, and a sub question. How do these witnesses keep securing closed door appearances from the Democrats in charge of the house? So the mere fact that hope Hicks is, appearing is significant in and of itself that said it's unclear how cooperative a witness she's going to be. She is going to be accompanied by someone in the White House counsel's office, you sort of get a sense in some of these statements that they're not necessarily expecting her to be wildly forthcoming. But, but the wildcard is if she was independent how much she is willing to give and share that hope picks two things one that is pretty widely known as that she was the president's confidante. They were incredibly close. He called her Hopi and she was there for all almost all of these key moments that. That Muller was probing, and that these congressional investigators want to hear more about. She is a first hand witness for all these things, and the other lesser known thing is who picks is a consummate professional who has basically a photographic memory of for details for dates in that, frankly, if she again, chooses to be quite cooperative could be very helpful, but we really don't know how much to your second question these closed door, private testimonies, they really cut against what the Democrats are hoping to do right now, which in some ways is to move and shift public opinion. Hope pick sitting down having that broadcast live on all of the television networks could be very compelling. Viewing for the American public a transcript released afterwards, simply does not have the same oath that the Democrats really need right now all four of our gifts of agreed to stay with us because we have so much to discuss. We'll fit in a break coming up, when we continue as one former federal prosecutor. Put it tonight, Republicans have sanctioned what the president is saying by their silence. We'll have more on. How members of congress are responding to tonight's developments or not, and later, we'll hear from the author of a new book that reveals many of the secrets surrounding Kim Jong UN as the president is asked to clarify what he meant about spying on North Korea.
