"The next day, Edward Snowden stands at the foot of his hotel bed in Hong Kong and grins as he watches the TV. On screen, a cable news pundit is going on an angry rant. Criticizing the Obama administration for spying on Americans. He's calling it a violation of the law. And even though this TV network is normally aligned with the Democrats, the commentator is pulling no punches. Snowden looks away from the TV and shares a knowing smile with the three journalists hovering nearby. Laura poitras, Glenn greenwald, and Ewan mccaskill, don't say a word. They don't have to. Right now, Snowden knows what all of them are thinking. Their work together has turned into one of the biggest stories in American history. Ever since Glen greenwald published his first story in The Guardian, everyone has been talking. Snowden was worried no one would care about the story, but clearly those worries were misplaced. Media is covering the issue nonstop. Members of Congress are calling for investigations, and everywhere it seems people are asking the fundamental question, is it okay for the government to spy on its own citizens? Is it an acceptable tradeoff for national security? Snowden couldn't be more proud of everything they've accomplished. But the work isn't done. At this point, the public doesn't know who leaked the documents. Snowden is still just an anonymous source. And that's something he wants to change. So Snowden turns down the volume on the TV and tells the journalists that it's time to talk about the next step. Snowden wants them to reveal that he's the whistleblower. And going forward, they should use his name and face in their stories. Mccaskill, a veteran journalist from The Guardian, shoots Snowden a skeptical look. He asks if Snowden is really prepared to take that stuff, he'll officially become a wanted man by the United States government. Snowden shakes his head. Of course he's not ready, but that doesn't really matter. The castle frowns and demands an explanation. What does Snowden have to gain from taking such a big risk? Snowden chuckles. Going public is hardly a risk. It's only a matter of time before the government discovers that Snowden is the whistleblower. When that happens, they'll have the upper hand, they'll be the ones controlling the narrative. Snowden reminds the journalists that government officials could attack his character. They could tell everyone how he dropped out of high school. They could downplay his role in the intelligence community. They could even go after his girlfriend, Lindsay, and tell the press how she does poll dancing for fun. They could make Snowden seem like some kind of deviant. What's known says that if they get ahead of this, they can keep the focus on the NSA, and the government's spying. Instead of letting the whole thing devolve into an ugly spectacle. Snowden gazes at the journalists, waiting for them to push back and reject his proposal. They're the ones with experience crafting a narrative, they broke in hundreds of stories. But the three journalists just look at each other a nod. They say it sounds like a plan. Before Snowden can say another word, they begin talking about logistics. How they'll cover Snowden's big reveal and how they'll divvy up their roles. Snowden sinks into a chair. This is the right move and he knows it. And while he wishes he could tell his girlfriend in person, he knows that's not possible, not with the way everything has shaken out. So Snowden runs a hand through his hair and turns to a camera that Laura poitras has just set up. She's going to film him. They'll introduce note into the world, and soon everyone will understand why he did what he did. And why America's own government was covering up the truth. A day later, Lindsay mills stands in front of a mirror applying lipstick. She smacks her lips together and smiles, and as she tilts her head, she has to admit, she doesn't look half bad. And not looking half bad is a minor miracle, considering everything that's happened in the past few days. Mills was staying at her bungalow in Honolulu, when federal agents came knocking on the front door. They said they were with the NSA and began interrogating mills about her boyfriend, Edward Snowden. It was a tense encounter. And it wasn't mill's only brush with law enforcement, a detective with a Honolulu police department showed up and made it seem like mills was a criminal. The detective reminded mills that Snowden was nowhere to be found, and he said it's suspicious that Snowden's workplace had filed a missing persons report before she had. Then the detective went on to insinuate that mills had murdered her own boyfriend. It was a scary and humiliating experience. And mills felt like the walls of her house were closing in. She had no idea where Snowden was, or what he'd done, and as she grew more and more panicked, mills knew she had to do something. So she got out of Honolulu, mills called up her best friend, made glass minute plans to stay in San Diego, California. Now, standing in her friend's bathroom, mills feels like she's recaptured some semblance of normalcy. The two friends are getting ready to head out to a birthday party. The mills won't have to think about her missing boyfriend or federal agents. Instead, she'll just eat or go for a swim. She's going to laugh, determined to have a good time. Mills checks herself in the mirror one last time. When suddenly her phone buses in her pocket, she takes it out, and sees it's a friend named Tiffany. Mills answers the call, happy to get another distraction. But something immediately seems wrong. Tiffany's voice is thick with concern, and she asks if mills is okay. Mill's heart starts to race. She says she's fine. Why wouldn't she be? Tiffany exhales. And then tells mill she has

Meanwhile police officers interrogated her daughter in another room. The officers then allegedly decided. That taylor's daughter was not taking them seriously. Enough handcuff ter- placed her in a squad car and drove her to the police station all without allowing her to see or speak to her mother. Okay one that is so traumatizing for a young child. "Rights goes on. We'll never end because there seems to be An endless supply of people willing to take away our rights and remember that. There's an order. Bill of rights first amendment second etc and for those of us who strongly believe in the right to keep and bear arms. We believe the second amendment is absolutely as important if not more so than the first amendment. We always put it to people as look anything you're willing to do to gun owners and the second amendment you should be willing to do. The first amendment licensing shear prior restraint share. Go ahead rationing. Yeah you can only have free speech occasionally just like you could only by a gun so long. Fbi background checks before you can publish anything people say. Well that's ridiculous i agree. It's ridiculous that we have to put up with that stuff. It's a constant battle and there was a time some no thirty years ago when i was thinking man. I don't know how we're going to get out of this thing. It's just looking downhill but things that continually gotten better and better primarily through actions in the courts because it's only in the courts that we are really winning legislatively. It's difficult although we are making some progress in states but we look at the joe biden administration and his constant calls for gun bans or restrictions on legal gun owners will equip the talabeh with hundreds of billions of dollars worth of guns at the same time in the same breath in the same week. He says yeah but we're going to stop the importation of ammunition for russia. That's used by legal responsible gun owners in the us. It's it's a crazy world. But i tell you the courtroom where it's all happening right now at least seems to be and the guy we go to for that with updates and you know give us what's going on because it's complex. You gotta work hard to keep up with his alan gottlieb founder of the second amendment foundation and the citizens committee for the right to keep and bear arms and welcome. It has been Quite a couple of weeks some decisions. Coming our way yeah. We had a great week or so last week on gun. Rights dot very often tom. We win three major cases in a week. Want you let me start with hawaii if i can And hawaii extremely lockdown gun state very restrictive. We were cases that were won. By attorney alan beck and one of them. Basically stop the honolulu. Police department from disqualifying people cited for nana criminal violations of law from ever again being able to own or possess a firearm. And that got struck down and then the one that i liked the best of course. It's one Texts the whole state of hawaii. They had this crazy registration system that obviously unconstitutional and the judge finally said it was that registered firearms owners I mean it's it's really wild And i took about three years to get this case to court but the process onerous one to be able to purchase a handgun. Which you have to take your safety course. You have to visit the gun shop. Of course you have to get details of the gun. You wanna purchase. Then you have to play in person for purchase permit. Then you go through a fourteen day waiting period you had to return back to the police department to get the permit Because they don't mail it Within ten days to finally be able to get the gun when you buy the you gotta bring a gun into be inspected within five days to complete the registration process. Obviously that's done in putting in place. Many roadblocks as possible menu. Nixon impossible for people to be able to to go buy a gun because it's too complicated takes too much time and it's real crazy. Judge struck down as unconstitutional. And i'd like to point in. Hawaii is the only state in the country that had a system like that. While a and i want to go back to that honolulu situation. I wanna make sure people understood what you said because it went by quickly. What they were doing is they were saying. Not because you committed a crime got convicted of it but because you committed an offence. That's not even a crime that would go on your permanent record and you would not be able to buy a gun and that they thought it on that before i even went to court. Didn't they Well they knew the court the judge ruled against him and so they they folded but of course is a permanent agreement that that the judges signed off on bars them from every putting back in place again. Excellent all right. So that's what happened there. And then you got this case. It has been taken awhile out in pennsylvania. You talk about the gun. Rains case out there. Yeah this is another really big. This is a great second pollination victory This been going on. Let me get some back onto there. Was that used to be cynical. The greater pittsburgh gun club. Two hundred sixty five acre zoned area that you can have a gun ranges on. They had a gun store there. And the and the nonprofit club went out of business but you know ten years or so ago and a gentleman boarded all wanted to put it back back in place again and the city pass zoning. Ordinance made it impossible for him to be able to have the range and are and a gun shop there We went to court. With this case it was known as drummond. Mr who who bought the facility to try to resurrect it and The the judge ruled against us. Basically that we didn't really have standing bring the suit on the grounds you're bringing it on. We went to the appeals court. The appeals court ruled that we did have standing and put it back in front of her. Then she ruled that quote unquote. We didn't have the case because it really isn't in her fridge. Minute second amendment rights. We had to go back to the appeals court again And we did and the be judge panel ruled in our favor last week unanimously than needed to violations amendment rights to flat out. Say you can't have a gun club gun range and gun store And chastised the judge very heavily on basic remanded it For her to look at our preliminary injunction motion to rule on it one way or the other That we that we do have standing in that. It is in fact an issue. Second rights are being violated so now the judge has i guess two choices once you can just grant plenary injunction and we win or she can try to do something again. That appeals won't be happy with and we'll be back appeals court and at which time the appeals court. Then we'll just what would your favorite period period but there's also really chance now that the city or the township they're has robinson township has a few of the council members of changed. So it's really possible that a couple of ardent anti gun people that are on the council not being there they may just decide to hold their tent and give us give us the victory without appealing it or without having to go back to the trial court and also they have an insurance company that got them there attorneys to battle for them and they're not so ideologically you know anti gun per se. They're looking at the bottom line and the more they battle this more legal fees. They're gonna pay us when we finally get the victory. This is a really important case. Tom because i got to try to push restrictive zoning on gun clubs branches and gun stores in an effort to make sure that gun ranges cannot operate and amounts the second violations and business discrimination under color of law. And so this case really is gonna have an impact on on gun. Stores gun raised in gun clubs nationwide. So what they're doing is they're not passing regulations that you can't a gun they say. Oh we don't have any anti-gun regulations it's just ours. Zoning code here doesn't allow for gun stores to be there and it's a very transparent but is just a dodge of a way to not have shooting ranges or gun clubs and do it through zoning rather than passing laws against it yeah. I wanna point out that. They've admitted that they've said that's what their intent was. But also it's interesting that the brady center and the giffords e group both falls on me briefs on behalf of the township. It'd be on the ban gun. Stores gun ranges and You know and and in gun clubs in the city. Of course their argument to the court was well..

Mike tells us that there is greater threats up there than the sharks when he gets out of the water. Mike is met by lieutenant. Dave cal cal. Coa of the honolulu police department he asks why the new while dave says it wasn't from him. The camera moves to a woman who says it was from her. her name. is sandra otani or sandy. She says she put the no down. There you see. She owns now lua island where she grows. Cultured pearls offshore. Someone is stealing her pearls. And she needs. Mike's mike's help and his cameras to get the evidence that dave needs to arrest them might tell sandy that he won't give her the camera as they only go with him. Sandy smiles until mike's that she wants to go with the cameras that might smooth operator. The scene now shifts to the beach on sandy's island where both sandy and mike are gearing up to assure dive out to the pearl beds. Sandy shows mike the pearl beds in his getting angry underwater as she finds the broken oyster shells as they are walking out of the water. Mike tell sandy that it is the perfect place for scuba. Hit and run. Sandy tells mike that some of the pros have been growing for thirty years. Mike her exactly how they cultivate the pearls. Sandy says that it's a secret that came with her father from japan but since they won't but since she won't tell them the secret should make it up to them with the best dinner he ever had now. The next morning mike is ready to set a trap for the pro robbers. He's hiding in the rocks with a pair of binoculars in his full scuba rig looking for any suspicious activity. He spots a boat but he doesn't see the divers go into the water on the other side of the boat. He does however see their bubbles and heads out with his camera to catch them in the act at the pro beds. Mike hides behind a rock with the cameras. The divers approach as they start to rob the beds. Mike starts to film but he gets careless. He says the sound of the camera alerts. The divers wanted a bad guy circles around in surprises. Mike they get into a fight. The other bad guy grabs the camera and pulls out the film now while the underwater fight is going on. Sandy was watching from the beach and she suspects trouble and his racing to the pro beds with her boat. The bad guys rip mics regulator out of his mouth but as they are scared off by the sound of sandy's boat. Mike is left helpless. Miraculously mike doesn't drown he recovers we see some eagle raising the background as he heads to the surface he's blowing bubbles all the way up we now see the camera resting on the bottom. Mike struggles back on. The boat is gasping for air. A sandy asks him if he is all right in the next scene. Now we see mike lying on a chair. Sandy's giving him not some tea. He says he doesn't want anymore and starts to work on a plan to catch the bad guys lieutenant dave. Sandy says she wants to let them have the pearls. Because they're not worth mike's life. But mike says it's not about the pearls anymore. It's a personal grudge. He needs dave's help to put them on tv now. Mike is going to use the underwater television camera to catch the. The's he shows. Dave how it's going to work as he pans across the island. Just mike points to camera towards dave in. Sandi dave says hey look at the prettiest girl in blue island has sandy strikes. Oppose the camera. And she says she's the only girl on lulu island as mike looks to take off underwater. Sandy gives him a big kiss for luck. And mike says he's never had any better luck back underwater with the tv camera. Mike is waiting for all three villains as they are. Now jumping in the water to steal the pearls but this time one of them has a spear gun. Mike has the tv camera pointed at the pro beds. But there's a problem. The bad guys are coming from the wrong direction and they're not on tv. The ambush mike. Who's only hope is to move maneuver them into the frame of a camera. Chaos prevails as they fight and slash at one. another finally might get them to the pearl beds. The spear gun is fired and strikes the bed. Fortunately sandy is watching and as yells to dave look at this cast off now. The cops are headed to the fight during the fight. Mike's left arm is slashed but he continues fighting pulling a regulator out of one of the bad guys. Mouth just then. He sees the to hawaiian police officers free diving or swimming trucks. And says they look like angels with the odds now even justice prevails and the bad guys lose again in the final scene near back on the shore of an allure island. Mike's arms bandage. Dave asks in the. He needs a ride back to honolulu. Sandy tells dave that mike is going to be on vacation. Dave says the sandy. Nobody likes a cop. Sandy says she will give him the best testimonial but also gives mike. Another big kiss to which mike replies that is the best testimonial in my life. "According to hawaii news now the honolulu police say that the medical examiner's office has them but the medical examiner's office says no they were returned to leases casket. But they're not in lisa's casket so without exhuming her body again to verify that. There's no way to know for sure beyond raising these questions about lisa's remains burtt also believes he's debunked the police impersonator theory. Once and for all so remember how lisa's driver's license was missing. Yeah apparently found founded. what's yeah. He retraced lisa's steps. The night she died and discovered that she'd actually stopped off at a grocery store on her way to dinner and she paid with her stuff with a check and accidentally left her. Id there at the store and he says that he turned the idea over to police so she didn't even have it when she left after dinner. Right so this whole idea that she liked roll down her window. Gay pride to someone no longer even make sense like we've been running down the wrong path for how long but that's not even the biggest bomb shell. This isn't even the biggest thing that he debunked because he tells k. h. o. n. news. He was in the room when charlotte the witness picked the second suspect out of that photo lineup. He knows the details about what charlotte salt and as he reveals. Charlotte didn't just see a woman in a car with someone. The woman appeared to be asleep or unconscious to the point that when the suspect made a turn in his car her head just like flopped over and he knows what the suspect looked like back in nineteen eighty two more than that. He knows his name. This suspect number two was doug homes. Lisa house boyfriend. But i thought he was cleared really early on not cleared. If you remember. I just said they talked to him but they were like on this path of wanting to track down. Police impersonators. in their mind they had bigger fish to fry bird alleges that the lead detective on the case in eighty two overlooked obvious reasons to look at doug closer like how apparently he had scratches on his face when he called law enforcement about finding. Lisa's car and apparently he admitted that he was trying to break up with her. And by the way suspect number. Two who we now know is doug is the same suspect who failed to polygraph tests and he gave the rationale that he failed them because he felt guilty guilty for not driving lisa home himself in such bad weather and apparently the lead detective just accepted his explanation. Just like with. Thomas byrne doug homes has never been charged with a crime relating to the murder of lisa how to this day almost forty years after that fateful january night. Lisa's murder remains unsolved. Memories have faded. Witnesses have died and crucial evidence might be gone forever. Both of lisa's parents passed away without knowing the truth about what happened to their daughter. But lisa's siblings are still alive and they're still holding out hope that someday somehow the truth will be found and justice will finally be done. Anytime you want over freetalklive dot com. We have a social media site that we're in charge of so you have more freedom to speak your mind over social dot freetalklive dot com. People are constantly being banned and temporary banned from places like facebook and twitter You know if you're tired of dealing with big tech and all their arbitrary rules out of there come on over to social that freetalklive dot com an account there and you're on then on the more decentralized mastodon system which is a federated system of thousands of servers so even though we have our server it's connected to the other mastodon servers out there. There's other libertarian. Friendly mastodons like liber. Don were connected to them so you can see post from those people were connected. I think to the whole network unless somebody's disconnected with us which we wouldn't know because that's my understanding the way the fed verse works is if somebody unlike you they can just disconnect from the whole server and then then that's that so. Each server admin makes their own choices about that but checking out over its social freetalklive dot com. So we're talking about the police dogs and matt you had not seen this This beast before. I have but i thought it was he. I think they're actually real freaky. Yeah they are freaky. This sort of the way. They move their boston dynamics development and i believe they do military robots as well like you know bomb dog kind of much. You wanna bet. Stick ahead on that thing to make it look more friendly because right now it looks like a headless demon dog or something. Yeah it does look pretty. Let me play this audio here. This is from our t. That's russia today. They report on the hawaii honolulu. I believe police department. Getting one of these things meet spot. The latest member of the honolulu police department. The four legged so-called robot dog by boston dynamics is there to assist officers navigate through certain situations amid the corona virus. Pandemic oh this isn't about controlling people or anything like that. It's just about helping. Keep people safe for the From corona virus. The robot dog is here to keep people safe. Dog is going to help because as explain here in just a moment. The police officers are afraid to talk to people. See prior to cove it officers would do in person interviews with people at the city's corona virus screening sites for homeless but sometimes officers would have to quarantine for fourteen days because of possible exposure to the virus. Police say having spot around will eliminate all that risk personal last less for water. The last for masks these are all things that we had to do face to face with someone and we could facility through the robot and that was the reason for it before it was to eliminate. They'll see that's it. They're not trying to you know. Make a Completely militarize police force. Here this is just because there are too afraid the cops to talk to people. You believe that right i. I believe everything. The shirt our society. Our brave officers. They're just they just can't have a conversation face to face with another person despite all the social distancing and all the masks and all the other bs nope now you can talk to the dog. They're here to help. Probably his hand sanitizer not yet but don't give them ideas. Here's a wrestling story. Lulu police department spent about one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in federal relief. Money to buy the machine from boston dynamics it uses technology that scans your eye to make sure you don't have a fever helping ensure the health of officers and will be used at a government run tent near the airport. It's just Like like a gun or a chair or or or any kind of tool just because the way it looks the wave moves. It's new but while the a tool in that case. I want one. I want an assault version. Totally normal guys. You know this thing. Just walk around scanning your eyes. Yep at all then over do whatever the dog tells you or else or the dog will do what i mean like like you said. This can carry a lot of weight. They can mount a gun to this thing. Sure how long how. Long before somebody hacks one of these things that makes it do horrible things to people right. Yeah what's the range on the on this thing like. How far aways is there a guy with a joystick somewhere trailer nearby. How does this thing actually had looks autonomous. You think it's thomas autonomous. It seems to be walking very well. Maybe it has different modes that can be offered. Maybe can be operated. It can go in autonomous mode or something like that one hundred fifty thousand dollars and And i think you mentioned during one of the break show. This isn't just a hawaiian police department of us. You've heard departments. We've talked about this before I brought it up. That new york city has this autonomous dog walking around by the same brand. Y'all yeah boston dynamics. Yeah and it was like blue. And they're just trying to get people used to seeing these things it doesn't have any purpose. They admit all this is just. They're just hired some cop to walk around with it all day. It's just so people see it that way when it kicks in their door. They'll notes from the police. Oh nice friendly dog and the next thing you have guns pointed at you can help. Officers approach potentially harmful situations assessing scenes before sending an officers. Privacy watchdogs warn. Police are rushing into purchasing. These gadgets before settling safeguards against aggressive invasive dehumanizing uses earlier this year of what. They wanna do that. Never do that. Robot dog became part of the new york police department and after fierce backlash from advocates saying the technology represents over militarization. The nypd canceled. Its contract with boston. Dynamics april four months before it was set to expire now all the nypd faced criticism for using the robot. The honolulu police department says the public response. So far has been positive but experts do say the increase usage of robots among law enforcement is concerning especially without any real mandates in place for when and how they would be used And that's the story from From rt and this brings up something that i was talking about earlier this week on facebook we were just told by this puppet that there's been a great reception by the public. Was there really a great reception by the public to this thing or are we just being told. There's a great reception to the bow so that we will give a great result. I mean it is hawaii. They're one of the most obedient of all of the states populaces. They are the ones that it. They embraced the masking thing. Unlike any other place. I mean besides maybe san francisco like hawaii is up there we do. You like told crowd scenario here. If you see a cop walk down the street with a shiny badge and a gun. You're going to be like okay. We'll put that away. Put it away or do watch out. The cop comes in right. But if you see this little robot little prissy walk that's what it looks like as you're probably like oh yeah look at this a robot right there and it's like scanning your is looking to everything you're doing. Look at the walls. People are going to be no big deal. You know whether acceptive to it. It's not because there's a cop all different story. They're not accepted to that. But know what that means not programmed in the same way with this. I don't know it doesn't look cute to me when it when it walks. Looks more like a spider or something. That looks really creepy. Yeah the way it moves now this creeps up like behind me on the sidewalk and it freaks me out and it looked on. Looks like it's gonna like get a laser and saw my leg off and i shoot.

"Michael Kitchen is very good morning. Stolen stuff away. My God. Thank you for taking the time today. Good morning to you. Uh, yeah. Good morning. Looks like, uh, looks like it's quite an interesting conversation. This money were discussed. It would highlighting at this point, just to lead into what we're talking about. Where do you have officials that are meeting at the White House because of the crime surge around the country. Eric Adams, the New York City Democrat nominee for mayor. Ah, he's making statements. Um Just frustrating because it's all off point. Ah, it comes down to the racial divide that's exploited by some politicians and bureaucrats. And it's just, uh Very frustrated. I don't. I don't think it's necessarily the police chief fault or the police fault. I think it's the You know the lack of enforcement the allowance of people to just get away with things over and over again, and the creation of the racial divide that's being pushed so hard and the news media means every day you wake up. There's something about race and about how it's dividing us. And how You know somebody's holding somebody else down. It just seems like the media has a lot to play with it as well. You know, a lot to do with it. When it's constantly thrown in your face. I mean, it just creates this angst and anger and these people get out there and they just commit crimes and the racial crimes. You know what I mean? And there's so much to it. Really, though. Yep. And the parallel that I always try and localize everything is still our lack of consequence within Honolulu and our state. No doubt. I mean, I think that is something that's very prevailing. Here is the lack of accountability and I always say this every time I come on your show, Uh, you know, people are still being our peed, of course, And there hasn't been much change. Really? I don't think And it's interesting because if there's all this world of conversation, and there's an identification of the issue And why would there not be more aggressiveness by the individuals? We elect Because listen, I believe the core function of government stands at protecting the citizen. Yeah, I think that is our primary concern actually is our community and that's the one thing that I push all the time on SS age. I understand the victims are probably criminals have rights. You know, and that they, you know, obviously you don't want to, You know, throw anybody in jail. That happens to be innocent, You know, but You know? There's a whole lot to these cases where you know it's more than likely there's enough evidence to show that they actually did something, you know, But at the time, the amount of charges are probably the Amount of punishment they received is really paltry. They just go back and victimize our community again. And our community has no rights against that, you know? Absolutely. So. I know in recent posts and dating back to the end of June about the Honolulu Police Commission, you participated in this commission meeting. Uh, And there was just of vulgarity of one individual participating as well that targeted you. But what was your take? What should we know about commission meetings? And specifically the one that you attended and participated in. Well, obviously I I was a little bit taken aback by that. I wasn't expecting to be attacked just because by express Essentially, we've been watching these meetings up until this July 7th meeting, which is the one I participated in. But the previous meetings I've watched at least about three or four of those, And then there's a specific narrative that's being pushed by several different organizations, both named and unnamed. Which is painting this narrative that HPD is anti black that they hate minorities that you know these killings, you know, involving Miami and the site cap or intentional. And that you know, the same narrative that's being pushed on the mainland is alive and well here in Hawaii, and my testimony actually consisted of the previous testimony. I did a recap or a summary of the testimony that was given at the previous meeting by several different individuals. Summarised. All those comments that had just made just now about the you know the anti Blake black narrative and specifically that that person that went after me. I had summarized just one sentence of her stuff, and I didn't I didn't know. I said what she said. But I said I don't agree with that, you know, And I think this is important that more people come and wake up to the fact that we need to start talking and we need to start giving testimony to the HBC. HBC is going to determine who the next chief is. If we let these people just push this narrative, then the chief that they're going to select, it's going to be someone that will follow that narrative. Where are we? In the process of the naming of a new police chief, Michael From what I can gather is that the HPC is still the Honolulu Police Commission is currently looking for a consultant. The consultant will determine how the process will work with interaction with the public. You know, and what is done? They're trying to decide right now how the selection process will will. Will work or change, I guess. And whether or not there should be a what they call a, uh this this group is trying to push what they call a committee Advisory Committee Community Advisory Committee. Which is, um Going to be a new group of a new committee that Interacts directly with the Honolulu Police Commission. And tells them what type of chief they should get. And I think they're basically trying to recreate the wheel here because the HPC is basically that the HBC is always supposed to been people from the community, who are watchdog for The Honolulu Police Department. So scientists trying to recreate the wheel here and I just don't think that's necessary. It appears that that's so that's a way to create a buffer and insulation because if anything goes wrong, or if there's any public perception that it was a bad decision. HPC says. Hey, listen, uh consultants did that It wasn't us. I really hope they are not seriously considering it because I mean, every 2 to 2 days out of a month. We as the public have the ability to testify. That's what I did. I told him exactly what I want in the next chief. What I expect what Ssh expects. Achieve, and that is already a process that's already given to us. You know, we have that so I don't know why they want to create another advisory community. I know it's being pushed by this HPC Tax task force and the Hulu and All that, but I think it's really unnecessary. There's no reason for that. We already have the tools to do it. Amen. Talking with Michael Kitchens and of course, with stolen stuff Hawaii and more By the way, and BOTTICELLI is the new nominee from the mayor. How has ends experience been through the eyes of HPC? Well, um Wait, Which and and actually, no, I didn't hear that yet. And BOTTICELLI. She former KTV four and then executive with Hawaiian Airlines, nominated by Rick Majority. All right. No, I remember right last. Okay. Got it. Yeah, Yeah. Um well, the thing that I I feel like this I mean, obviously, is it You know, you've got all these groups that don't want the next nominee to be somebody who's actually a cop, You know, Whereas I think You know, it should be a cut. We need somebody with actual police experience actually on that commission so they can understand the process. You know all these things that they're trying to do and vote in, you know, at least have somebody that has some experience. But I guess the next best thing would be a journalist. You know who Who At least has done covers, You know, stories on the police department. That kind of understand the processes had this interacted. You know that sort of thing. So, you know, I mean, I'd have to say that's probably a good selection, at least, um, you know, Um I believe she was what She originally started that as she was a news reporter, and then she moved on to being with Hawaiian Airlines. Right. So you know she has experience in that..

"So we have over 3400 athletes, Children and adults with intellectual disabilities on the islands. We're statewide. We're on six islands where year round. Um and the sports I mentioned are broken into three seasons, and so each season our athletes go to an area competition. And then they come to a state competition, which is here on Oahu, right? Every Sport has an area competition. So if you do the math and you think of all the islands were on and the number of sports we are on in each area competition plus R three State games, we're talking over 50 competitions a year, right? So we are an event based nonprofit. We all we do is create these opportunities for athletes to Train and compete. And then, of course, our special events and fundraising events that we have. Um so man, those magic or is in person means so much to us, because of course, like everyone. It's been a challenge. Unbelievable. It's amazing the perspective that has been built Enduring tremendous challenges in the process. But who would have thought at any time pre covid that we would be at situation and then have such Celebratory of feelings at being able to do what we were doing a year and a half ago. It's such a Crazy dynamic in all aspects. I focus a lot on businesses and everything but Nonprofits and service organizations. I'll just cut to the chase. Tracy, How has the pandemic affected? Special? Yeah. I mean, on two friends right on the actual fundraising side on what we can do to continue keeping our doors open, literally lights on doors open. That's one side, but really, for us What really hurt us was the other side about our athletes and how it affected our athletes. And for many, many of our athletes Special Olympics That's their social circle. That's their best friends. That's their extended family. The coaches, you know then, and every we call them delegations are teams. Every delegation had their close knit. They rely on each other, like any sports organization. They're doing picking ups, you know, pick up drop offs. Potlucks. You're doing all of that. And for People with intellectual disabilities. They're already isolated in a way because they don't have as many opportunities as we do so to for the pandemic to come, and for us to not to be able to get together. They can't go to practices. They can't see their friends. I mean, it was super challenging, uh, brought us to tears. You know, at some point, just thinking of specific people we know especially that need that interaction? Yeah, so that that part was why we're so excited that we can come back. So what was necessary to maintain Your organization in such trying times. Yeah, so a lot of meetings a lot of learning. Thank goodness for the younger people on our staff. Who knew what the heck zoom was Who could create special Facebook pages for us that we're so created for fitness purposes, So high stays fit is what we called it. So we started small. We started with a Facebook page. We started posting some videos on a Facebook page. And then we decided we're going to venture it into virtual programs. So throughout the 15 minds, what we've been doing is we have three virtual get togethers a week. We do? Yes, we do a virtual workout. And so this workout would be some of our wonderful volunteers and friends out there in the community, teaching us yoga doing strength training. Doing other miscellaneous different types of workout activities for athletes by Zoom then another day will do a challenge A fitness challenge. So our fitness challenge coming up this week is reverse crunches, so we'll literally right. That's the hardest, right. We're literally You know, teach them how to do it and then encourage them and we'll do account. We'll do three sets of 30 seconds or a minute and well, we can watch them and we can do all of that. And then on Fridays, the most fun thing we do is our Friday afternoon dance parties every Friday at four o'clock. We have a dance party. My husband joins me for the dance party actually helps host it every week, right? Um and what we really wanted to do. Is. Give them this opportunity to work out right and do physical, But that social interaction so 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after each zoom Opportunity. We do what we call talk story time. So we just a mute everybody and they go for broke, right? It's a lot of chattering going on from so, Yeah, So that's what we've done in the training side, and then believe it or not, Rick, we also figured out a way to do a virtual competition and we've had three already. And which concludes with them receiving their medals from the Honolulu Police Department officer. Oh, my goodness. Yeah, so, boy, it just the creativity that emerges That's wonderful. I had no idea of the depth and the, uh, presence you've been able to maintain. We're talking with Tracy Bender, Director of Development Special Olympics Hawaii. And Tracy, please. Again with the information how to connect. Yes, Yes, please visit our website s o hawaii dot org, all kinds of information about how to get involved what you can do to volunteer Also upcoming fundraising events. Um, and then we're on social media. So if you can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram You've mentioned in person a couple of times and a smile each time. Yes, we're on the advent of returning to in person event. Yes, we are. So we we have small group practices. We actually started that in April, Um and then just Last Saturday. We did our first many Bochy politician. Many we did, too. We had only four delegations attend in the morning session and then in the afternoon session. Oh, my gosh, Rick. "There's not now now but like my brother-in-law here's a police officer. And he's actually fairly honest and very attentive to detail and has the cup thing you think about. And whenever he says stuff he usually doesn't speak unless he really knows it's true so for me as that lens may be some authenticity. And i found that particular story on several websites. But then i found the source article. And it says the honolulu. Police department's annual story video released on friday october. Twenty seventh feature. The story of an officer's visit to the chinese manal cemetery so i was like And it was the same story so according to that article the honolulu police department has been releasing videos of ghost stories from officers each year in time for halloween last year's videos featured ghost stories about the kuku station and an earlier ghost story was about the alpi headquarters so they're really sees fund goes stories every year to make. The officers seem approachable. But someone took that article posted as truth and then that particular story spread like wildfire and it suddenly became like truth that is creating so apparently that is just set of stories. And i can't wait to hear next nash. Because that's really cool so maybe we can. We can share those around halloween if we can remember so. Yep that's my debunk awesome. So of my two stories. Today i would say i have to believe them. Both of them. I with the night marchers. Hawaii has been a land has seen much war and death in some ways. It reminds me of gettysburg in that sense due to all the dark energy. That still lies there. I have no doubt that there are warriors that hunt the islands. Still the ancestry runs deep and far into the past so although maybe today more a cautionary tale i still think there may have been some grain of truth to it. You know why you you believe from both awesome regarding the goddess pele. I believe this curse has a lot to do. With religion and spirituality island natives like many indigenous communities see the land and everything that comes from as sacred such to take something that belongs to land is in a sense sacrilegious and in doing so karma sees its way back to the offender. According to one hawaiian anthropologists needed hawaiians. Believed that moving. Any of the island's natural features without performing the appropriate rituals with a hawaiian priests is an act of disrespect interesting. He also states. The islanders believed that the rocks have mona which tourists quote jesse something. They like and take it with them. I can't say that every story that comes forth claiming to be cursed by paleas true. But although i only spoke of a few there are far too many incidents that happened to simply call it a coincidence as i read even if the curses local superstition is very real for the people who claim it has affected them. If you're still a skeptic let me know how that goes next how you bring some earthly souvenirs from hawaii. As for me. Anything i bring from the islands will.

It was also Ryan's 100 Major League victory. He would go on to pitch three more no hitters in his career, the most in baseball history. And today in 1988 John Madden football. Interactions with individuals that possibly were infected needed to take place patrolling, obviously, all the way down the line and still combating. Violent and Polonius cried. She was hyper criticized for purchases. Would you have to remember everything was authorized and approved with those expenditures? Bottom line. "News radio 8 30 K H V H I'm Julie Norton Dennis Hawaii could have 75% of its population vaccinated against coronavirus by December. That's according to an estimation, released Monday by the House Select Committee on Covert 19. Carl bottom of the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization, believes the state will ramp up its vaccination rate in the coming months. He thinks restrictions could start to be significantly lowered by this summer. As more people get vaccinated and the overall positivity rate starts to dwindle. What you struggling economy may not get a shot in the arm until Corona virus vaccination rates improve in foreign countries, most of the state's top international travel partners have vaccinated future none of the residents so far. 1.7% of Canada's population has had even one shot, while less than half of percent have received both doses. Japan has not started vaccinations yet, and Australia will start its efforts later this month. This means even if Hawaii achieves a higher immunity rate, the tourism economy may only be driven by mostly domestic visitors for the rest of the year. If so, tourism can't return to its pre pandemic success anytime soon. Since just a fraction of the numbers from this time a year ago, will be arriving. Hundreds of people ignored public health warnings and through Super Bowl gatherings on Oahu this past weekend, the Honolulu Police Department handed out 185 coronavirus related mornings on Sunday, and 17 people were either sighted or arrested. Lieutenant Governor Josh Green says the overall positivity rate keeps trending downward..

"Wetherby, starting out of 33 degrees in our studios and Thompson Bridge Road, Sunshine. Get about here about 15 minutes or so. And we'll see that sunshine poke through. So as we start out this morning, I just wanted to share his first. Here's something in front of checking with Dr Marie Lance will be doing pause for pets here and about 15 minutes. But according to the Honolulu police Department, they can't hate this week for spending $150,000 on robot dog from Boston Dynamics. So here's a question. Would you ever want a robot pet? Before you answer this. Answer this question. Did you have a pet rock? Did you ever have one of those Tom Adachi pets? Think about it before you start casting other stones. There are few advantages like not having to feed a walk them. According to a recent survey. Most of us aren't ready for robot pets. 6000 Americans. Asked if they'd be interested in getting one on, Lee 23% said. Yes, 9% very interested, 14% said. Maybe Everyone else said no. Not many young people a little more likely to want 11 in three aged 18 to 24 said, Yeah, compared to just 12% of people over 55. I would not be interested in one We've got a sloppy, stinky, lazy dog named Dino. He's not that lazy. He's got a lot energy still left in him. He likes to play. It's just not the same. You want that cuddly thing? You want to be able to clean that hair up? You wanna be Okay? Well, maybe Yeah, it's still still, here's the thing, though. One advantage I could see especially having a robot dog. Is instead of having to pick up after them like you normally do. You could just go behind him with a magnet and pick up the nuts and bolts it might fall out of them. I mean, that's a lot less messy and probably wouldn't smell is bad. Just try and look at the positive Everything. We continue with mornings on Main Street. We will talk about real live breathing, cuddly pets coming up in the next 15 minutes as we take it with Dr.
