Who Is 'First Casualty' Author Toby Harnden?
"Before we get into these amazing stories, Mike span, David Tyson, John walker lind, who is Toby Honda. Tell us about what you did in the British armed forces and your life as a journalist before you became an author. Yes, well, you know, we share a somewhat similar accent as listeners and viewers will detect. You still got yours. Our minds kind of rubbing off a little bit, but I don't know. I'm worried. I'm worried about mind getting a little bit Americanized. But I trust yeah, you're a bit soggy in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere. Yeah, I mean the ace. So yeah, I'm 56 years old, I was born in 66. My father was in the navy. We moved around, we sort of ended up in Manchester, industrial city in the northwest. You don't have a mancunian accent. I think the Royal Navy actually did for the mancunian accent, which was pretty skin deep anyway. But you know, I sort of, you know, I wanted to follow in my father's footstep, I guess there's so many sort of young men do. And I also wanted to get out of Manchester and see the world and it just seemed like a very kind of insular sort of small sort of place. And so all that teenage angst was just channeled towards working hard to get out. And so I got a sponsorship from the I joined the navy at 18. Went to Dartmouth, which is the Britannia royal naval college, kind of the equivalent of the U.S. naval academy at Annapolis, but not really because it's more basic officers training. It's like santas is shorter. Yeah, that's right. I mean, I was there for less than a year. And I threw the navy I got a sponsorship to Oxford to study modern history, so I went off whilst serving naval officer, although I barely wore the uniform for those years apart from a few months sailing around sort of Hong Kong and the far east and Australia. So I had some good times. Yes, exactly. So I was serving naval officer for three years at college and then graduated from college and was pitched in to a career. Which I enjoyed immensely, but you know, it was after the Falklands War, which was 1982, I was joining and supplying to join just sort of join the Falklands actually, age 16. But I missed that. I was stationed in Scotland for the Gulf War, tried very hard to get involved. They managed to that's a long way away from Iraq. I know. They managed to win it without meeting my services. And I remember my boss at the time said, listen to, we don't worry about it. There's going to be plenty of time for medals. And I remember thinking, no, there won't. And of course I left after ten years of service without a single

"Song? Unlike the typical nepotism fueled corporate culture of the states, Honda's new president was chosen from among the employees. This decision is a perfect example of their merit driven corporate approach and set the tone for Honda's post CTO influence. Since his retirement, the ripple effect of soichiro's renegade methodology has affected not only the company, but the entire industry at large. As a result of Honda's dramatic rise over the following few decades, the entire western manufacturing process would change. As would the way the global automotive business was done. Honda continued to fill their management positions with engineers from within the company. True to soichiro's anti establishment views on higher education, the guys in the boardroom aren't just NBA Tony college boys who could be working at any corporation. Honda executives know their vehicles inside and out and have been with a company for years. It's a system designed to create mastery in the highest levels of the company. That's honestly have more company should operate. Yeah. Yeah. In his book, driving Honda, author Jeffrey Roth feeder gives a perfect example of this unique management strategy. At a groundbreaking ceremony of Honda's plant in Lincoln, Alabama, rather than a standard shovel, the keynote speaker corporate rep decided he is a Honda mulcher to make the initial tick. A little bit carny, but pretty cool. However, when the moment arrived, the machine wouldn't start. Wow, that's not a good. It's not good optics. It's a bad look. Bad luck did. After several failed attempts to suit himself hunkered down and tweaked the engine, then got a rolling. Okay, that's badass. Another example of Honda's actually his boy takeo fujisawa's lasting vision isn't the way Honda continues to keep their departments clearly delineated. They believe that people work harder and more innovative if they are not forced. That's true. The same goes for the way the company handles promotions. They don't hinge on conveniently open positions, but on the personal achievements of the candidate. To the pride of soichiro, Honda still obsesses over R and D, they even created a subsidy for young innovators who can develop ideas without interference from senior level corporate goons. That is honestly the best policy they could probably have. But I don't know how the integrity is still made it past. Yeah. I like Honda historically as of late, not a lot of inspiring stuff. It's true. In addition to its unique development mentality, the actual way Honda builds their cars has changed the game as well. Prior to the impact, the amount of waste at the American big three automakers was obscene. Not only were there literally tons of materials dumped and discarded during production, but the management structures were mired in inefficiency. At the time, because Detroit was selling their product, they didn't see the need to tweak their process. Honda and actually Toyota two changed all of that. When it became clear that Japanese companies were here to stay, American corporations finally decided to take a serious look at the manufacturing methods of their new rivals from across the pond. And the rest is history. From complete overhauls of assembly lines to wide ranging adaptions of Honda corporate philosophy, western companies were forever influenced by not only the ways they build their cars, but how they conceptualize the vehicles in the first place. So how far have we come? A minute ago, we were figuring out how to put a radio motor on a bicycle, and now we're talking about changing the world. The haunted motor company was a tiny startup that managed to penetrate markets halfway around the globe in countries with radically different cultures and political systems. They didn't have the shareholders of GM, the legacy money afford or the government bailout cash of Chrysler. CTO turned a little over three grand into a company that's worth over $200 billion today. Maybe the answer for our question at the start, how the hell did he do all this? Is actually an involving one. Like one of sea churros vats of backyard whisky. It's a living thing, constantly changing, which we now know is how Honda liked it. Well, that's a great way to tie it back. Yeah. In 1980, I'm just riffing, man. In 1980s, in the 1986 article for Inc magazine that's INC not the magazine. Kat Von D yeah feature. Joel kotkin noted that maybe the reason Honda constantly has the pulse of the consumer is because the man himself never lost touch with ordinary people. I have never belonged to any secluded society on to said I associate with anybody. Rich, poor. Doesn't make a difference. I prefer to have the principle of egalitarianism, rather than a class distinction of people. Honda is boring? Get out of my face, Honda changed the world, their corporate culture, manufacturing methods, and vision for the future were decades ahead of their heavily favored American competitors. This company may not have supercars or spaceships yet. They have a super car. But they do have past gases respect. When today, we learned that they got it. From the Einstein of Japan, the Henry Ford of hamamatsu, the genius in a fedora CT rohanda. Bow down. Nice. I really like soichiro Honda. And then you remember all these cool quotes coming from a guy under 5 feet tall. Yeah, I mean, that's like a big suit in a fedora. It's like a heads below was like wise..

Leading Relationship Therapist Lissy Abrahams on How to Have a Peaceful Divorce or Separation
"We're gonna talk about separation and divorce and in the pre show you mentioned. It's one of the things that you're passionate about in helping couples navigate it in the best way possible. Because you've seen when it's not done well and that can be pretty nasty and just not good for anyone involved certainly if there's kids as well so today we're gonna talk about that in how to do it the best way possible and there's a lot to think about and a lot that goes on when separation divorce happened. So why don't we start by having you tell us why you are passionate about helping people through this process in some of the big things to look out for and we'll talk about how to navigate them and one of the things with separation and divorce is that i lost honda have also advanced so woven together and depending on how many years as well it in there so many aspects that Dismantling when we going through a separation and we don't know how much it lives originally. Why until we get to these points and his things we don't even expect so we need to make thousands of thousands of decisions it. All the time about how to navigate is separate how to go into two households and How did raise out tens of family and find stacy getting chance of all of that. So what we. What i say can really help. People is to have an anchor of integrity and what make by. Ankara vacek retain is. It's guiding kind of principle. "It's like to get someone in the back you it's two separate processes. You have the press thing that slides it forward and then pull the handle knowing which is not as bad as going the other way because the other way you have to hold the button until it moves all the way back. It doesn't just automatically return to where there's so many other companies where you just when you pull that lever in the backyard automatically activates the motor forward. There might be a setting. I haven't found okay. I've only done a light amount of playing. So don't take that one is gospel just yet because i've only done a little bit of playing But you know it's got the the bigger motor. It's feels quick. The turning radius of the two or is awesome is nice is it's real nice and i'm excited to take it on the trail. I think it looks great And it's it's it's comfortable. caesar maneuverable. Yeah it should great on the trail. Why wouldn't do awesome on. The trail was awesome on the trail foot with the looks on these. Because i remember the press photos. I didn't like them and when i saw the first one in metal the proportions looked better. It just like you see the curve. The way light reflects and the tutor looks really cool. I think the two-door looks great. If i if. I didn't really need the back seat all the time. The the two-door has substantially smaller trunk than the four door. That's the other thing if i didn't need the backseat all the time. 'cause like i tried. I put an adult back there. You can't do it six foot adult. Ken fit back there. You just can't hold that much stuff in the trunk. All go so I'm excited to have a go in that. It should be great You're driving the ridge line. This week i am. What's out in You know it's one of the practice trucks it's like it's a city truck. Kind of competes with if you're actually honest with yourself one hundred percent one hundred percent. It's if you need a vehicle that will carry things that you don't want to put in an interior like dirty stuff or bikes or would or whatever but you know that you are not caring thousands of pounds in the truck or towing it max telling on that is five thousand like if you know if you know yourself and you are really honest about what you do with a vehicle and what your life looks like any like the utilitarianism utility of a truck. But you know that there are limits to it. it's very good vehicle like it. Rides like a crossover. it's got independence pension. I believe three to file it with a bed. Right exactly pilot with a bed so it feels like a pilot with the bed. It feels like any modern. you know. unibody suv. And it rides nice. It's pretty quiet The honda santa cruz. I think rides a little bit nicer and definitely feels lighter and more agile. Part of that. Do the alignment wider track The hondas honda feels aged a little. Bit it just does. I mean i drove. I didn't i won't. I can't review the ridge line because ethically honda paid me to do an instagram activation at the detroit. Auto show fucking god. It must have been six years ago when this thing. I came out a long time ago. But i was paid to talk about this car so i i've never driven one. I can't really review one. And i won't review on because of ethical reasons but i did drive the pilot and i review and this i did it with thaddeus. That's how long ago this was. Wow do by five years. And i remember thinking five years ago. This feels a little old. Even then yeah. It feels like it doesn't feel like it's moving any balls for bars upward. You know whereas the santa cruz feels like a modern modern car rides and handles like we've come to expect of lifted vehicle of an suv. Where like why. Why is it so quiet. It's like silent this does it feels like okay. It's three point five. V6 honda's engineer bucks Yes that weird shift in the middle of the i do not let alone the buttons and things. Yes which are not really committed. They're not good and actually have been the light setting. I was on So i don't want to comment on that. But what i like about it is one. There's tons of space inside clever. Packaging clever storage. All over the place like it's a very very useful vehicle inside and out like the trunk in the bed is awesome. The bed opens the bed. Gate opens two different ways. That's brilliant there's all kinds of storage cubbies and shit and all the buttons in the center console. because it's kind of old are actual button whereas a lot of the stuff in the hyundai. Santa cruz are the capacity buttons which are annoying right so again. This is like a point to the ridge line in terms of just usability and probably reliability and function like you for wearing gloves or whatever. It's just easier to hit that stuff. And i just i don't. I don't know what their liabilities capacity button. So i can't see the way you'll pass it as buttons on the mccown and the the panama era. Why are they dislike. There's more separated in like easier to find I think part of it is the placement. When they're on that angled tablet and it's easier to go down than out. I agree on the dashboard. Yeah but i also so those. I think those capacity of buttons buttons that you press. It's not to find a radio exactly. You're changing the suspension mode or something like that. You don't do that like really on the fly that often you know right if it's if it's a feature that i don't use very often yeah mac correction If it's a feature don't use very often then short it looks stylish i'd do. It does look more futuristic and they needed to do something to sell it new car one but when it's like the temperature control or the volume. Your or as you point out in his Talk about the the. Gti your hvac. Controls are not lit up lit at all even at night and their capacity. So it's like something offer it all the time that you can't find. Yeah that's a big big oversight not. They're not backlit. So what is what it's dark. I don't know come on. Don't watches video on haggerty. you can't see how to adjust h. Back at night yeah. That can't be right. I i believe kameda but like that's got to be a mistake like the car that yeah maybe maybe the who would let that kind of out the door you who else would have any you out the door now. You're just going from all time. Well he has a fucking. He's got a couple of targets. A couple of things things in the u. I i just i like these trucks. Because they're just practical like if you don't if you don't need the full three quarter tonner full-sized truck if you really don't rise nice. It's it's much nicer to operate in town.

El Salvador Announces National Bitcoin Wallet
"Now to the other side of this peak. Twenty twenty one moment el salvador. Well the initial reaction to the el salvador news was jubilation among bitcoin. There have been some questions for international observers particularly those invested in the current fiat system. The concerns around environment crime that you would expect. We're all aired out. Libertarian minded global audiences. Meanwhile took umbrage with the compulsion inherent in the legal tender law. These folks argued in effect that forcing people to accept. Bitcoin was at odds with bitcoin locally. It seemed some people had the same concerns although it was less from. Some deep seated libertarian principles and more from practical questions about how it would actually work. What sort of additional infrastructure or processes it would take and what if someone didn't wanna deal with bitcoin volatility. I think the best way to give you. The flavor of last night's speech to actually use pull quotes as translated by alejandro machado. A honda is a co founder of the open money initiative and has been working on bitcoin and places like venezuela for years so as a particularly good source he tweets as address to the nation thread quote. Bitcoin will be optional. Nobody will receive bitcoin if they don't want it. There's no obligation to express any price in bitcoin. But it's possible to do so. The state will accept bitcoin for payments. If you don't wanna do this don't because currency so there will now be no capital gains taxes on it same as with dollars euros etc now. Article seven the opposition has demonized so much. Every economic agent must accept bitcoin as a means of payment. We can't take this article out of context. You also have to look at article. Eight and fourteen economic agents are obligated to accept bitcoin but not to accept it when a tourist from europe comes into wipes a card he or she will be spending euros but we are charging him dollars. This is what will happen with bitcoin. A tourist pain. Btc and if the merchant wants dollars it will get dollars. The government wallet will have to account one dollars in another and bitcoin the government while it will not use up any data all you need to use. The government wallet is a mobile internet signal.
Toyota Tundra Leaks, Honda and Porsche Debuts
"At under a rabbit hole. Actually we have many rabbit holes to follow because there's a new wrangler version any ways. There's a new honda civic of version anyways and we're gonna talk about some summertime. Funnier later on so summertime superstars. It's podcast time. I'm christopher smith across the ways. Chris bruce. It's been a week man. Yeah today today has been the longest week of head. Yeah i know you've had some issues but hey we're rambling about cars and cars and it's all good so let's ramble away. What are we. What are we going to get into i. There's a let's start with the tundra stuff. Because although the tender hasn't debuted yet the tender kinda sorta debuted. It's sorta did and and to give toyota credit. I have big shout for toyota for what they did with this league because our team. Yeah that was brilliant toyota. Well played. Yeah i'll have an image here in just a second for a youtube pokes but basically to to kind of tell the story. It was friday or thursday of last week. Oh what was thursday. I think anyway. If you haven't an okay you got. I was about to pay about article up to so that was. I can't remember if that was thursday or friday regardless. A bunch of folks started recording on a toyota tundra images leaked out. We didn't put them up immediately because we were subject to the embargo. And you know we we all try to play nice with these things but it was kind of one of those things where the snowball just kept on rolling and rolling enrolling and there was a point where it just had to be covered and toyota as you said to. Their credit just came out yeah here. Here's the image of the exterior. The new everyone else has leaked it so we might as well just put it out there to not pretend that. There's still an embargo in place and that's and to be clear. That's what we're looking at right
The Fudge Factor and Semifinals
"Hello and welcome to the die presented by honda season. Five episode seventeen we just finished with the rumble stage and we're moving straight on to semifinals here. Although and penton are both not moving on recipes. Yeah that was a doozy of a group stage. There's a lot to impact there. A lot of things happen. Great yes love to talk about it. I mean you could start feel free. You'll yeah looking forward to talking i. I'm not happy to talk about it. That's sucked i'm sad. I'm super said it was a really really weird we're tournament. I think that's what a lot of people are talking about with them. exiting is. How good are they really. Because they were able to take games off the korea and chinese number one seats but then they also lost to no festive. Probably one of the weakest round robin opponents to make it an msi. So it's really hard to judge. You know how good they really were. Yeah and so it was a really weird and then like the way that it all went out with losing that when it mattered. Most kind of thing like all that was. Just the most quintessential anything that you could. You could have happened. It's tough right. it's like for me. I think at the end of the day kind of tweeted this. I think people somewhat misunderstood what my point was. Took it more as an excuse. But it's like. I think that you know being being like really consistent and not making mistakes is just as important as your skill in leaning your team fighting your objective. Control your vision like these are. It's like an equal part of the game.
Making Personal Connections and Friendships Through Biking
"How is the bike kind of making connections for you differently than it might have a decade ago. Well so a decade ago i. I didn't have the didn't have the depth of relationships that i have now around the bike so i had a few people that i rode with and so on. If we go let's see a decade ago was twenty eight. So i was pretty focused on racing in mountain biking That's a pretty solitary endeavor especially when you're living out of the back of your honda elements driving around the country. Sleeping in national parks and truck stops at this stage. I look as i reflect on my time here. I had to get together the other day with your showed up in a park with some speakers and t you know in a blanket and said whoever wants to show up show up in about half the people who showed up repeating line new through bike so these are people that i was connected to his as an entrepreneur who are also in the bike space. These are people who i've met through writing people who bought you know some of our early bites or their friends. I met a few others that i had met before. Actually that varada are bugs and that was really special and then i was part of a burning man camp. That was you know the the bicycle repair camp and so those people as well. So there's this really strong bicycle theme. That knits together. This patchwork with people in my life. I always find it interesting in my personal connections as well. How different the people are that ride by. You know from the spectrum of sex race whatever its use itself selects around this activity of the bike and around nothing else whereas i don't know if a lot of other things in life that really do it in such a great way this element of Certainly i got my start in a much more competitive sort of paradigm and. It's it's probably no coincidence. That's i didn't have the deep relationships when i was in that competitive mindset that i have now whereas my mindset is is very much one of. Let's go to adventure together.

"Job And jason has left honda and has started an amazing. Watch company at Wilbur just his last name so welcome to the show much. Go ahead and take it away from there Yeah i alluded a little bit about what you do talk if you could just kick off in about advanced designed them. We'll jump right into the watch- watching all right. Well yeah i mean. It's funny because people always ask like what does that really mean. What are these satellite studios because a lot of a lot of car studios car companies. Have these type of advanced design studios and their these kind of like you know like clandestine operations and skunkworks types of things. Nobody cares about what actually happens because a lot of times they're generating ideas that frankly kind of stop internally and they never really kind of. It's always hard to see. You know what the trickle down is in terms of what what design and what actual products and what are the things were created there that we can see on the street or that the consumer can buy or interact with a lot of times. You know if you're doing your job right as an advanced designer. Ninety nine percent of that stuff won't see the light of day. Yeah and people say well why. Why can't we just have that in. It's really our job in industries to to imagine future. That's not technically feasible yet right yet there. We have something to guidance that that's part of why we do that. Right when you say yes. I think the thing is. Is that if you're doing if you're approaching design from what i think is the correct way to do it which is think about people's the type of experienced send the type of lifestyle that the customer is going to have in ten years and twenty years and the types of needs and wants and things that you know the kind of way that their life is going to Is going to be. If you think about the experiences that they want and you think about you know like what kind of reality they're going to be encountering then you can create ideas about the products that would would work best for them and that they would resonate with them in that they would love without worrying about the constraints of current day manufacturing or cost restraints or things like that because typically that's what ends up restricting people as they say well. We wanna make a bunch of things out of this box of aluminum. What can we make. And that's a great thing if you're if you're if you're trying to manufacturers her things and you're trying to figure out ways to save cost but you've already got most companies doing that already or majority of Corporations trying to focus on certain things like that so this is really all about like. What's the dream you know. I always try to tell people like it doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be awesome like yes. It's it's it's really more about like coming up with the collective dream that you can point future when you start to think about the reality or sedan with engineers and business people marketing people and he started to kind of figure out. Okay can we start to make this create the same idea in today's world. Can we possibly do with the manufacturing technologies we have and the business models that we have. Can we do it and he started. Once you start to work through that kind of process you start to chip away your idea and sometimes it sometimes and frankly at you. It's not a bad thing because it means that. Then you can say all right if we have this initial vision as long as we start to kind of put some of these realities in here and put put all the into the pot and comes out tasting good. Then you know that you've got an idea that's worth pursuing and it doesn't mean that just because it's not the spaceship you envisioned. If some of the soul and some of the feasability in some of the usability and some of the funds generated from that product if even ten percent of it ends up in the product from today sometimes. You've got a winner that way. So yeah go ahead i. I always tried to kind of look at it. This way was trying to look at it like you want in design. You always want somebody. That is an advocate for the future customer. That doesn't know what they want it yet and the thing is when you when you get there you get to that future. That's always the trick. When you've been using refunding gets about future that you were designing for as a former advanced designer myself at nissan. I always fake of that job is sort of like living in the future looking back on the present as if it's the past right when you're in because you're already living in that future when you finally get there that future feels all and you know you hear people say today like well we're supposed to have flying cars today by now and like people say well how come we don't have more of this. Is it because of the technology. How can we don't have more futuristic things on the road and things like you know coming from coming from you know Over a decade of working in the corporate side of or at least being exposed to the corporate side of the automotive industry. i. It's always funny when i tell people. I'm like what the technology's all they're all. The technology is that we're not being restricted by technology bureau being restricted by fear by consumer ability to accept things. Right very very real right now and we talked about self driving cars. Not just all of what i work on. Smaller clients he. That's the pushback i always get. Isn't the tech. It's the people's fear of what's that gonna be like right now. And i think like i think that sometimes when you're trying to sometimes it's good to kind of take a little bit of like you have to think a little bit about the psychology when you're making crazy things because it means you know you're going to. They're going to be polarizing. And i think what happens that some people are very good at doing this where you take something and you put it in a package. That is familiar. So if you're going to introduce a new technology don't put a new technology in something. That's a spaceship. That's now you're asking people to accept two things to accept like a crazy styling or a crazy design or something and you're asking them to accept a new technology. It's part of the reason why so. Many people accepted tesla. Because that car looks like a nineties mazda. The technology is great them something that they showed the the general population something. That was not the didn't scare them but it just happened to be electric. So now you start to allow people to kind of become comfortable with the technologies and once you do that then you can start pushing and pulling in different directions you know. Yeah and he was very smart so higher wrong hotels to that because he had done such a good job with mazda deal emotional accessible and really you know. They're very sexy cars that that he and his tenure at mazda and he really just kind of evolved for tesla. It's funny that you say that. I always see mazda when i see tesla because it's the same designer and one of those things that on the human people don't really know that these cars come from people's heart and soul. It's what they love and so right. That's what turns into the rent. I don't want to miss time to get into your watches. But i wanna ask you one question about cars before we jump in their work in advance. What was your favorite project at honda. may people seen it. It was a show car. What was your what's up. That comes to mind is something from honda that you're just love working on. Let's see well we actually. I think one of the favorite things. I worked on which actually scared executive so much that we ended up making a little teeny were. She'll model of at the end of a wholescale one. But it's funny. Because i i looked some some of my favorite projects are the ones that i had the most push back on and their fifteen years old and now i see everybody might i totally long ago. You know like people are like oh how come you didn't do something. Like tesla pro. You know what i'm like. Well we kind of did about fifteen years ago you know like when they first like graphics. Yeah that was a tesla truck and the thing is jason. Yeah no i mean i. I would say like one of the projects. I did that i loved the most..

"The Alpine Formula One team, cuz we cuz cuz we've heard the news, you know, I think about a couple of months ago on the Formula One Instagram is that You know Alpine is to make its appearance and formula one, I think starting next season so it'll be so rental. Will then become the Alpine from one team. Right. So the Frenchman that is in charge of the rental manufacturing formula one has not heard from the Red Bull right since a couple of days ago and well according to a according to the f i a s obligation to supply engines. To a team that has none and and and we went over that obligation that you know, if if a team is left without an engine right or power unit. The the manufacturer that supplies a guest teams is to essentially give get basically now supplied to that team that has no power unit. Well the head of rent basically isn't shaking his head at that obligation. He's he's kind of like I mean, I mean, I'm okay, right but here's the other thing. He said he said that this didn't surprise him. Right? He also said that we also know that anything can happen in this sport. I knew that they had to confirm their position after 20 21, meaning they meeting Honda and now and and basically he's saying that he knew that they had to confirm their position as twenty Twenty-One. And now that was probably the time to do that off right he's saying if if Honda was going to pull out now was the most perfect time to do that right now because if anything that gives those two teams of Red Bull and off Atari to find a new supplier within eighteen months before well, I'm sorry not eighteen months basically before the end of Of or before this, excuse me before the start of the 2022 Formula 1 season. Right. He also goes on to say and maybe the lack of confirmation already was an indication. That makes sense though, right?.

"So now when I was reading up on this on more square.com, which mind you is where you really can get a lot of really great Motorsport news, but as I was reading up on this It seemed more of like an internal issue more than anything else. And so this caused me to like keep on like reading at it and like okay, I gotta really understand what's going on here. So after we thought that the fact that there's mainly a money issue here and there's not enough, you know, investment and and funds for an engine project which is extremely major when it comes to the world of formula one, right, you know power back in engines are really, you know, if you don't have that your car's not going to freaking move and so that's something that really needs to happen. And it seems that that's not clicking as well. Now little quote from Ur head of the manufacturer says we have noticed that is very tough for all the car manufacturers at the moment because of their environment change of Elektra of electrification. So we are sending up the development Corp and having discussions internally. Bingo right. So now that we see that formula one is is apparently moving into this era of of electricity and and and and and the lack of jobs and you know putting on electric components on Formula One cars. It seems that Honda. is running out of funds and some Investments and also running into some trouble just internally as in manufacturing as a team. Which is not good because mind you Honda is a very very well-known manufacturing from the one industry and they've really been kicking butt and it's this is why I'm saying it was kind of a surprise to me when I first read this off. Why are they leaving? Right, so as we keep moving on. It says that citing the huge costs involved in pushing its Road car businesses, which is really a book of Honda. Right?.

And this is what we're going to be talking about today. Now if you've been on motorsport.com if you've been on YouTube, if you've been following Formula One on Instagram, if you follow Alpha thoughts on Instagram, if you follow the Honda Formula One manufacturing on any social media platform, if you've been keeping up with your Formula One. You know what I'm about to say and it's wage buzzing. I mean buzzing around formalin World ladies and gentlemen. Yes Honda is to leave Formula One after 20 21 There you go. That's it now. For those of you that are like, why is that so huge? Well, I guess to put this in simpler terms. Have you heard of the formula one team Red Bull or home tour Russell or Al fatah right now called off Atari? Yeah Honda supplies their engines. So now we're going to think about why is this happening? And well, that's we're going to get into right now, but I just wanted to resonate that with you guys real quick. Honda is to leave Formula One after 20 21 off mind you that Hannah really? I mean, honestly, they really are kind of young in the Formula One industry. Really, they really are. You know, I mean like Mercedes has been in there for a good a good amount of time Ferraris been there since man since the start of sport Reynolds been in there, I mean decades and ages, you know, so Reynolds Reynolds Reynolds knows they're you know, they know what they're doing for Artie said Ferrari, you know, and and then after that you have bought a Honda so so really the the all the all the manufacturing power unit suppliers. These are all the power unit suppliers and formula one right now. that is Honda Mercedes Ferrari and Reynolds as as you know, Reynolds is to change into the Alpine Formula One team, and I you know, you know coming this next season, but let's get into what this Honda news really really means and I get if you're sitting here and you're like why is Honda leaving? And when I first heard about this I said, okay. I didn't really know why either and and this is really something that if you don't do your research you will never find the answer write if off either one if you are not in if you are not like deep in the Formula One, like if you are not doing your research, if you are not watching shows listening to Formula One podcast like velocity racing broadcast, but if you.

"Electric vehicles. And what about Honda Honda CIA's advantages for it? I think what it boils down to is neither company can do this on its own. All companies have found. This is a very expensive venture to do on their own. And we don't know when the payback is so Honda will gain immediate access to these batteries, and we'll be able to electrify its vehicles more quickly as well. I'm thinking about, for example, Honda Big selling it making cars, GM being very good at light trucks. Does this mean we could see more Honda trucks and GM cars? Well, That's certainly a possibility. They haven't said. What vehicles will be what, but General Motors has pulled out of the car market. To some extent, they've eliminated vehicles like the Chevy Cruze, which was a lot nicer, affordable little car. But Honda has the Civic and the accord, which are Smaller vehicles that are very popular so we may see some sharing of car platforms, on the other hand, hand has only got one truck. It's not a big truck. It's the Ridgeline. GM sells more trucks than anybody in the United States off mid size and large so we may well see Some sharing their as well, so they have very complementary product lines. Michelle There are certainly Americans for whom it's very important to drive an American car. You think this deal between GM and Honda could blur the brands at all? In a way that people might not like? I will not blur the brands. They will still continue. You'll go to your Honda dealership to buy your record. You'll go to your Chevy dealership. D. she was really pushing you need to take your blood pressure medicine so what she started to do is teach them how to use hi biscuits flour tea now I'm not telling him anybody to go off their medications but what she found was in the winters they made a hot hi this Christy in the summers they made a nice speech and she found that their blood pressures were becoming more stable when they were able to integrate things into their life that was more enjoyable and more pleasant so I'm just sharing that plants are here to help us I'm not saying we the cure for corona but I want to go over now some scenes that everybody has in their house George in case we get into a crisis again and you can't get your meds for a while so for instance nutmeg not next couple dollars you can buy it at the store if people have trouble sleeping you can make an hour of attic medicine they call it golden milk and they would take some milk and put a little to merit cannon and the magic ingredient was not met not Meg helps with anxiety and stress and helps you sleep so if you're in a situation you don't have your sleeping pills and you couldn't get them you can at least try not mad because people are more going to panic about not having any man something in the kitchen for instance cinnamon it is fabulous I like my clients to have it in capsules you can just take the spice right off the shelf he can help lower blood pressure and what I love the most about common sentiment I'm talking about the cinnamon you put an apple pies is that it can instead he's killed each coli bacteria in your stomach so if you're stuck in your house for reasons like corona and you feel like you get a stomach bug and you call your doctor and no one is going to pick up the phone for a stomach bug believe me especially not New York you can take some cinnamon mix it with some warm water and it will settle your stomach so I want people to start to feel empowered to know how to heal themselves and their loved ones when they can't get a doctor makes sense makes sense lots of sense so that's why I want people to know for instance if you are in your house and you'll get a sore throat you can take some black pepper but some hot water over it add some honey and you can gargle with that and that will help relieve a sore throat well of course you do strep throat you may have to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic we're not saying that but when you're home bound I want people to know that there are things they can do another idea is if you have the address and you run out of dandruff shampoo you can have some rose merry T. make it into a key you can boil it make it a little bit intense like don't make it this one to bed one or two and you can after your shower poured over your head and that will help relieve the itchiness and dandruff now let's talk about a mute systems for a minute here Sir before we get more into some of these three things that people can do during emergencies people are recommending vitamin D. vitamin a vitamin C. to help fight this what do you think I think those are great ideas I love vitamin C. I love vitamin D. and I'm gonna give you a one second little chip could you mention vitamin D. if you run out of vitamin D. here's a great idea you can take regular white mushrooms that you can buy at any store you slice them put them on a cookie tray put them out door for anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour and a half those motions will absorb the vitamin D. from the sun and bold you made your own vitamin D. the person right I agree so to build the immune system herbalists have anti viral herbs that we have used internationally for viruses that are similar to corona I'm gonna mention their names they are difficult to find because a lot of them sold out but we've got an herb called Andrew grass he's it's a beautiful plant and in clinical studies it is anti viral and can help kill bacteria viruses in your body and help build your immune system one of the most popular herbs out there is an herb called astragalus now you can get a status it looks like a bark of a tree very inexpensive you can literally put it in your chicken soup you can pour boiling water over it and speaking of stragglers will help stimulate their immune system for me the most important thing for people that are staying home is to stay hydrated so you know there's the biggest sale of alcohol and wine and I'm not gonna tell people that they cannot drink that when their home bound but that is very dehydrating if you could make that movie it hydrates your body even faster than straight water so that's very important also staying hydrated taking your vitamin D. vitamin C. if you have in the house is amazing and if you're going to make this movie with even frozen fruit they are you getting your vitamin C. generally if people are doing the right thing and they were exposed to a virus like corona or like the influenza what are the odds of catching something what are the odds of beating it off well again I'm not a corona expert and I don't think there's many corn experts really in the world I don't think there are what what we're seeing in Brooklyn and New York and the metropolitan area is that even healthy people are catching corona well you but healthy people catch the flu to fighting it and they will fight it and what happens is for instances and right now called cleaver is growing all over Brooklyn cleaver is a lymphatic drained it helps the body drain in the lymph system the lymphatic trainer and cleavers is another herb that helps build the immune system because it keeps you know you want that circulation in your body going so cleavers help staff interesting take how did you how did you how did you get involved in all this are well I have always studied I had always been in love with plants since I was a little girl even when I went to university I more than bringing close I've brought my plants with me at my first child started getting chronic strep throat so being a good mom I went to the doctor and followed everything the doctor said and after about ten rounds of antibiotics she was not getting better so I took her to a Chinese acupuncturist who gave me some Chinese herbs and her strap went away never to be seen again George and I went wait a minute I love these plants as a girl so I went back and obsessively studied classical homeopathy and western herbs and once I started working with herbal medicine I have a very big practice I will quit pediatrics is my favorite women's health men's health and what happens is people usually come to me after their kid has had fifteen rounds of antibiotics for ear infections or I have clients that have been on blood pressure medicine and it's not stabilizing and we find that when we integrate and in my practice we integrate alternative herbal homeopathic medicine with conventional medicine if you have an asthmatic you're not going to tell them to call off their asthma medicine but we can give them some herbs so they don't need that asthma medicines as office so often I'm sorry so I'm very into integrating both conventional with alternative medicine and I find that that's how it really helps people and then the powers people George you know what is in the middle of the night you get a fever and you ran out of Advil you're going to have a panic attack in less you have other things in your house that can help you with that feature yes they develop a vaccine for corona virus so you gonna take it I have corona I'm getting over it George so I don't think I would need the vaccine wait a minute yes you have it yes yes when did you get exposed all right when I got exposed but it was two weeks ago on Wednesday that I began the first symptoms two days later my son got it and four days after that one of my daughters got it and I'm at the end it's two and a half weeks and it's a little challenging George even as an herbalist I mean I can tell you that when I get the repressed breeding I take an herb like OSHA and time and I can breathe better but it's a challenging virus George will now you now that I know that you have what we trying to do keep it a secret from me in the beginning of the show no one right over my head we were talking about general yes I don't I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find someone in Brooklyn that doesn't have it and it's very interesting because what they're doing now is because you can't even though get a test here in Brooklyn it's not even available or in the city they opened a center and it closes down within a couple hours so now they're sending out surveys through emails asking have you had this this this this this so they're trying to begin to get account yeah it's challenging I mean I'm very grateful that I have and my clients are very grateful that they have I'm I'm going to assume that you didn't get it bad because you've built yourself up I would like to say that but I still have to get to the next week and a half and we never know but right now I'm doing fine tell me some of the symptoms that you developed when you realized something was wrong I'll tell you mine and what everybody that's calling me is one of the first signs of absolute exhaustion even after a good night's sleep you're like whoa I can't keep my eyes open then you get a lot of body aches a lot of body aches lots of pain you feel repressed reading a little bit like an elephant is sitting on your chest you can get access mucus I finally get more mucus it moves things around and the biggest problem I'm seeing with the hundreds and hundreds of people I'm speaking with is that it comes in waves George you get it and then you seem to get better for two or three days and you over work which you should not do and then it comes back again and then you over work doesn't hurt yeah it does hurt now have you ever had the flu sure of course I think you may have course and how would you how would you compare the two.
